Boo Radley Lessons
To kill A Mockingbird, the title itself is a literal sense, a mockingbird is one of the few birds that does
not bring harm or foul to any creature or crop but is a good natured creature. Harper Lee introduces
many lessons throughout the book and goes deep in the children s minds during the time period they
live in. The south in the 1930s is of course very racially driven, Harper Lee explores what it is like as
a child to grow up and through their innocent minds, the book explores their thoughts and feelings. As
for children, adults are represented and their attitude towards race and status which truly creates a
sophisticated piece of literature in thee end. In the beginning we learn the Atticus has a daughter

distress about the fate of Tom who eventually is shot 17 times all for being of a different color in the
south. The children are now developing their own point of view and they are starting to realize the
world is not at all as carefree as they have originally thought it to be. They begin to understand the the

Analysis Of Bottled By Helene Johnson
During the Harlem Renaissance, many African Americans were able to reveal and experience their
culture through music, literature, and art. In the poem Bottled , Helene Johnson writes a narrative
about someone experiencing the Harlem Renaissance. Helene Johnson, a poet during the Harlem
Renaissance, appears to have wrote Bottled as an example of African Americans realizing their
heritage and being proud of where they originated. The poem Bottled does tell a story of one seeking
their heritage by observing someone letting loose and embracing their own origins by dancing on the
streets of Harlem. Though at first the narrator seems confused, later he or she discovers the true
meaning of this person s action. The title Bottled itself seems to refer to the roots of many African
Americans that were hidden and could not be expressed. Through Helene Johnson s choice of diction
and target audience, the poem Bottled has a meaning of heritage and finding one s roots. When
reading Bottled , there is no hard vocabulary nor slang that makes it difficult to read; however, there is
a lively language that carries out through the poem. In lines 5 6, the narrator explains, Just like the
kids make pies/ Out of down at the beach to describe the bottle of sand in the library. This comparison
seems to be childish because the narrator is relating it to an activity done by children, yet, it makes it
easier to visualize. African Americans received a small amount of education compared to

The Hawksbill Sea Turtle And The Sea Turtles
The Hawksbill Sea Turtle is one of seven species of sea turtles that inhabit the ocean. Their scientific
name is Eretmochelys imbricata and they belong to the cheloniidae family. The hawksbill sea turtles
are named for their hawk like beak. They also have a carapace with an overlapping pattern of scales
that form a jagged edge along the shell. They are found mainly throughout the Atlantic, Indian and
Pacific oceans. According to the national geographic, they tend to avoid deep waters and prefer
coastlines where they can feast on sponges and with sandy beaches close by for nesting. According to
the U.S Fish wildlife service of North Florida, the Hawksbill sea turtle also like to swim around rocky
areas, coral reefs, lagoons, shallow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only are they poached specifically for their shell, but also for their meat for consumption of
humans but also to be used as shark bait for fisherman. According to the National Wildlife Federation,
many sponges and small animals consumed, are toxic. The hawksbill body fat absorbs the toxins
without making the turtle ill, but their meat is potentially poisonous to humans (National Wildlife
Federation). The IUCN also states that Hawksbill Sea Turtles are also sought out for their hatchling
eggs.
The next cause for decreasing hawksbill population is the loss of habitat. Degradation such as
pollution being introduced to the oceans including untreated sewage, exhaust, trash, chemicals such as
pesticides and fertilizers, industrial and powerplant emissions and oil spills make their way into the
water and the natural environment for this species and all ocean species that break down and destroy
the ecosystem that they use to survive. Habitat destruction is also a factor that is a risk to this species
chance of survival is human filling in wetlands and rivers to build for businesses and residential.
Development for tourism is destructing nesting habitats for this species as well as all sea turtle species.
Entanglement and ingestion of fish line and fishing nets is another cause for fatalities in the Hawksbill
sea turtle species. Water craft strikes also contribute to injuries and fatalities amongst this species.

Are Coaches Ruining A Kid s Love For Sports
Bad coaching, Ruining a kid s love for a sport Are coaches killing childrens love for sports? Coaches
play a large role in how a kid views and plays a sport. It all depends in what type of coach they are,
they could be a good and positive coach for the child or they could be a bad coach which is a huge
negative towards the children. For example, a good coach would keep his/her voice low after a
mistake made by a player and tell him/her what they did wrong. A bad coach on the other hand would
stand up and yell at the kids singling him/her out and telling that player they suck. Kids could quit a
sport they ve loved forever because of how their coaches handle them and the game. Coaching
happens all over the world and for all sports and at any age. With coaching being everywhere there
will be bad coaches. One instance was when coach Raul Aragon got frustrated with an umpire at a
baseball game and was thrown out. He than chased the umpire around until police arrived, he was
coach of an 8 year old baseball team. Another experience with a bad coach is when Kevin Pope, an
assistant football coach, was pointing a bb gun at a player for having bad grades. (Mark McCarter,

The biggest difference between good coaches and bad coaches is how they influence and handle a
their players. A good coach can push a kids out of their comfort zone to make him/her play better.
Good coaches also make the players a better person in society and help them gain confidence. A good
coach is a fair coach who sees all of his athletes as equals even when some athletes are superior to
others. A bad coach does the opposite of what good coaches. They have a negative effect on the
children they coach. Bad coaches can make practice a hostile environment pushing the kids to their
mental and physical limit. Bad coaches also cut down their players confidence rather than build it

COMPARE AND CONTRAST Comparing William Wordsworth and A.E. Housman views on nature
although Wordsworth and Housman are great poets they describe nature in different ways. In order to
imply a connection between nature and the human mind, Wordsworth uses the technique of
identification and comparison whereas A.E. Housman does the opposite in Loveliest of Trees .
Wordsworth has beliefs about man s relationship face with nature and believes that nature is a teacher
and nurtures you. In Daffodils the speaker reminisces about a past experience in which he seen a

Examples Of Personality Traits
Getting older you begin to develop several personality traits that you can benefit from. These
personality traits are usually a gift that somehow come in handy throughout your life, even if it s bad
you can always manage to bring a good deed from it. The way I see it a personality trait is what makes
you who you are good or bad this is what makes you remarkable from everyone else, and who knows
if the traits that you develop help you out in the future with your career plan. Now, the traits that I
progress was responsibility, communication skills, and the constant idea of being kind to others. To
begin with, one of my most valuable personality traits that I have is being responsible. Whether it s

With the regards that, I don t expect anything back from people, and everything I do just comes from
the kindness of my heart. I can remember the time my dad told me to always be nice to others,
regardless of what I m going through, because no one cares what you re going through and it shouldn t
be the reason why you should take your anger out on people. That may sound harsh, but it s the truth
and I do live by those words every single day that goes by. Also, I always liked the idea to keep your
personal life separated from your work, because in the future the situation you are in won t matter.
Now to return to the subject, I m proud that I was able to develop a trait that not only makes me happy
but others too, and with that being said you ll be surprised how many people are willingly want to help
you out just because you re kind. As a final point, whether the personality the traits that you developed
are good or bad always try to look at the bright side, because these traits some kind of award. For
example, being nice to people can go one way or the other and that s because some people actually do
appreciate it and others don t. However, regardless of how things go im grateful that I got to progress
these personality traits, and most of them were thought from my

Interview Vs Interrogation
The main difference between the two is that an interview is nonaccusatory in nature whereas
interrogations are accusatory. Interviews should be nonaccusatory even if the investigator has clear
reason to believe that the suspect is involved in the offense or has lied to them. Another key difference
is their purpose, the purpose of an interview is to gather information while, the purpose of an
interrogation is to learn the truth. The people who are subjected to each also varies, by that I mean that
an investigator should interview everyone involved, if possible, including victims, witnesses, and the
suspect, while an interrogation should only be conducted when the investigator is reasonably certain
of a person s guilt, meaning only suspects are interrogated. Interviews can be conducted in various
locations and are free flowing and relatively unstructured. Interrogations should, ideally, be conducted
in a controlled environment free from distractions, and involve active persuasion.

strongly believe that as you write more and more about a character, that they begin to reveal more and
more about themselves, from the standpoint that two unintentionally related traits may organically
foster another by extension of themselves, in this way the characters are revealing parts of themselves
to the author before the author reveals them to the reader.

With Johnson s life experiences and style of writing, it s no wonder that a good story with a criss cross

Why I Learned Mathematics For Teaching Mathematics
Introduction This report follows the progress of an eight year old, grade three child s progress, through
a mathematical diagnostic assessment pertaining specifically to number placement, and proceeds
through the relevant stages of mathematical learning, mapping the strategic points involved in
teaching mathematics whilst following the progress of the child, and the areas with which they
required improvement. The partitioned focus, of this report is on specific areas such as the mechanics
of learning numbers specifically, counting and the developmental appropriate learning stages of a
neurotypical child. Succeeding the initial factual proponent of the report (Part A), is an account of the
experience of tutoring (Part B) the grade three child, whom shall be known as Boris (a neighbours
child). A permission slip was attained a copy of which may be found within the appendices. This
portion of the report will explain any errors Boris made, why Boris made those errors, and what was
done to rectify them. Pictorial evidence of the tutoring sessions may be found within the body of the
Part B text. Part A Rationale In order to teach well, there must be an observance of the student, and
how that student may best learn. The commonsense within the points, which make up the components
of the professional judgement circle (Department of Education, (DoEWA) 2013. p. 2.) describe well
the necessary stages for the development of student learning, as opposed to teacher teaching and a

Analysis Of The Storm By Katie Chopin
Hugh Mackay said, Nothing is perfect. Life is messy. Relationships are complex. Outcomes are
uncertain. People are irrational. In The Storm by Katie Chopin, she develops a parallel between a
storm and an emotional storm in a woman s life. She used signs that described the feelings of a
relationship that are unpredictable like the storm. They both are married and according to the incident
that occurred, they may not be happy in their marriage. In A Sick Rose , by William Blake, it talks
about how dark secrets can destroy ones love life. Like when a rose does not get enough water or sun,
it dies. This poem can be interpreted in many ways based on the reader s interpretation.
Katie Chopin wrote a short story that takes place in Louisiana,

Appreciation and Value for Life in Richard Wilbur s Poem...
In humanity, one chooses to spend the most amount of time doing what they love in order to result in a
satisfying and happily lived existence. Richard Wilbur expresses his appreciation and value of life
throughout the poem, A Late Aubade . This poem is influenced and based off of Wilbur s strong
relationship with his devoted wife. It emphasizes throughout detailed imagery how one must enjoy the
moments they have and can share with their loved one. The existence of an individual is not about
wasting time by being out and completing unnecessary jobs, it s about spending time doing what one
loves to do. Wilbur is convincing his wife to not go about on her womanly daily activities; he wants
her to stay and to take advantage of the few valuable moments life offers for them to be together.
Throughout A Late Aubade , Wilbur stresses by applying descriptive language that in life, one must
not waste any precious time and should rather focus on what they are passionate about.
Richard Wilbur was born in New York City on March 1rst in 1921. He contained a strong literary
background as he had come from a family of several journalists. Wilbur s father was a painter and as
he recorded experiences of life through his paintings, Wilbur became inspired to do this through
poetry. As he came from a Christian religious background, this was a great influence to him as he
alludes to many Christian references throughout his works. He and his middle class family had moved

Rappers Vs Griots
Many argue that the past griot s and the rappers of today in Africa, are as different as an apple and
orange. *You have those who believe the foundation of both practices are one hundred percent
different. Everything that makes a griot who they are, is completely the opposite of what shapes an
African rapper. *On contrast, there are also those who presume that the message and way of execution
are the same for both lyracis. *The belief that the two are different, mostly comes from those of older
age, or who have a lineage of griots that backtrack throughout the years. *While those who believe the
opposite, are of younger age and have more modern day experiences. So although socially, the African
griot and rapper are on two different platforms, the message and ways of expression are tantamount,
however, the fundamentals are contrasting. As time progressed and rappers begin to make appearances
in the 1990 s, griots were still in full effect. Just as the griots openly criticize politicians and protest
the conditions of community, rappers do the same. For example, if the issue was unemployment, it

*However, just like the modern day griot s (rappers), classic griots don t just sing, but they also rap.
So just as social issues and hymns are performed by the griot and the rapper, they are also done in the
style of rap. But of course, many rappers and griots in Africa sing to give a softer approach to the
audience. *For example, when singing about a particularly melancholy part of African history, a song
may be presented. This is also exercised by the rappers of Africa. However, sometimes just as a
camera tell a thousand word, so does an instrument. The emotion and force that goes into playing can
tell a full story. The principle is completely understood by the griots and rapper of the past and the

1. Cite at least three different functions that the Palace at Knossos served.
The Palace at Knossos served as a landmark with mythological implications as it was said to be the
home of King Minos and also gave rise to the important myth of Theseus. The maze like system of the
palace was used to tell the story of Theseus who slew the Minotaur while being hunted by the creature
in the Palace s labyrinth. The Palace was also used for storing goods like wine, grain, oil, and honey
which were kept in large jars in the magazine rooms. Furthermore, the palace complex served as a
government building as it had administrative and workrooms on the north and south of the east west
corridor. Interestingly, the palace may have also had an entertainment room as there is a theateresque

Mycenaeans were were concerned with warfare and advanced their civilizations through conquest, as

city state was constructed upon a large mountain, aiding the defensive nature of the civilization. Also,
their art often depicts forms of warfare, The Warrior Vase and the lion hunt dagger for instance. On the

Essay on Girl Interrupted Review
One popular cultural myth about the mentally ill is the archetype of the Sexy Crazy Girl , which we ve
seen in movies, comic books, and music. Losing your grip with reality is not a glamorous subject, but
that s not what you get from Girl, Interrupted. It is apparent that all the girls in the movie had some
type of dysfunctional personality, and bad things happen to some of them, but it just did not seem
realistic. First off, most of the patients prtrayed were young, which made the care facility look like a
youth home rather than a mental institution. but only the main (well known) stars, (Jolie and Ryder)
were focal piont. I ll also note that about half the young girls in the movie, Ryder and Jolie included,

It seems she s playing nearly the same sexy vixen she s played in a few other films already; just this
time, she s in a t shirt, and occasionally gets tied to a bed. It d be interesting to see Jolie really stretch
beyond her type; maybe in a Jane Austen movie or playing a nun.
Overall, Girl, Interrupted feels like a movie that could ve been rawer, more intense, and more
confrontational... ie, a lot less Hollywood. I found myself wondering what this adaptation of Kaysen s
book would ve been like if it had been done on a shoestring budget with unknown young actresses and
a fledgling director. Some Folks Call it a Sling Blade, the short film by Billy Bob Thornton that led to
the film Sling Blade came to mind. I m also noticing that that s the 2nd time I referenced another film
that is primarily about men, not women. Maybe we need an excellent film about mentally ill young
women, and maybe Girl, Interrupted could ve been that film... but it isn t.
Quickly summed up, this film may indeed be compared to a female version of One Flew Over the
Cuckoo s Nest, except where that film was a rebellion tale, Girl, Interrupted appears to be more about
self discovery. Though this film has been long in development, and many actresses vied for the
leading role, the casting call was even more crowded for the supporting roles. In particular, though I

Middle Eastern Literature Essay There was something about her, a certain strength of purpose and
character, which confused him... (Ayyoub 101). This excerpt from the short story From Behind the
Veil, written by Dhu l Nun Ayyoub, displays how differently people treat their beliefs. This story,
along with an essay, A Portrait of Egypt, written by Mary Anne Weaver, discusses the topic of Egypt
and how their past has developed today s culture. Beliefs tend to portray people depending on how
they go about it.
Symbolism is common throughout Middle Eastern literature. The veil preserves their virginity and
symbolizes honor and good morals. The veil is considered good, and when women choose to be

The author shows the festival qualities by explaining that everybody wears colorful robes, gowns and
veils. This connects to the essay, A Portrait of Egypt, because it shows the differences of the places the
texts are based on, Iraq and Egypt. A European who had never been to the East before might be
excused for thinking that its people were in the middle of a great festival (Ayyoub 98). This excerpt
from the story compared to Cairo specializes in a state of total pandemonium (Weaver 113), shows
that Iraq seems to be more calm and peaceful, whereas Egypt is full of chaos, although, they both are
heavily populated. The second example of imagery was the way the men would look at the women in
the story. It shows how differently unveiled women are looked upon compared to veiled women.
...expressions of flattery which came their way from the gallants... and ...make the observer yearn to
uncover the magic and the secrets which lie beneath them (Ayyoub 98). It seems as though the
unveiled women are no longer mysterious and seem easier to be with. An example of imagery is when
the unveiled women are described as looking anxiously to avoid criticism. The veil defines freedom
and faith, but without it, they are the opposite. ...always looking anxiously to avoid criticism (Ayyoub
99). This portrays that they know without the veil, they are looked at differently. While we now can

Essay The Use of Symbolism in the Film The Piano
Screen and Visual images are important in the film; The Piano directed by Jane Campion. The screen
and visual images are represented by Motifs. They are related to the dominating characters which
makes them important.
Firstly, Fingers as signifiers. The films very first image is a point of view shot looking through Ada s
fingers as if they frame her world. They are signifiers of expressiveness. Ada is mute and her fingers
are her tools of communication. She communicates using sign language with her fingers. Ada also
uses her fingers to play the piano. Without her fingers, Ada would not be able to continue with her
passion. Fingers are the chosen means of her affectionate sex play when she caresses her husband, and

He certainly identifies the piano with Ada. He strokes it and dusts it while naked, he tries to pry into
its secrets like a lover. Ada even snaps the lid shut on his fingers when they stray into its recesses. It
becomes the bargaining tool in their growing love affair and when she sends him her love note it is
written on a piano key. At the end, the piano is considered a coffin and Ada throws it overboard of the
Maori canoe, to get rid of her past. To start a new life.
Clothes also are important motifs. They are signifiers of Ada s restricted life and of her potentiality for
sexual expressiveness. The clothes represent Ada s time in life.
At times, her bonnets and skirts are heavy and encumbering, signs of the manner in which Victorian
women were held in tight to constrained social roles.
Later, they are easily removed when necessary at Baine s house. At the start of the film, Ada and Flora
look like peas from the same pod with their identical clothes, in Ada s case showing a quiet, dark
power. More positively, her petticoat becomes a tent for her and her daughter on the beach. When
Flora shifts allegiances, she takes to wearing angel s wings, a gift from the parson s daughters, and a
sign that she is now being judgemental of her Mother s sins.

The Cost Of Immigration Reform
Over the past years, our nation has been dealing with immigration issues. The issues have divided our
nation and brought about disruption in the nations unity. The immigration topic which has been an
issue for many years, was also a major topic in our 2016 presidential election. However not only that,
the topic evokes questions about the outcome of our nation s economy, if all illegal immigrants were
to be removed. In the 2016 Presidential election, both candidates had distinct outlooks on immigration
reform. Hillary, was committed to the immigrants rights community where as, Trump was more
focused on enforcing stronger immigration laws. Hillary Clinton s position on immigration reform
was to be devoted to the nations incoming immigrants. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, there are some immigrants that migrate to the U.S. that are disruptive and dangerous. So, I
believe the most effective way to address the issue of immigration would be that of which would not
cause any riot or separation within the people of the United States or any disruption with any of the
other countries. One solution which would be very critical, would be enforcing immigration laws
humanely. Another solution that would be helpful would be that a guest worker friendly program be
created and enforced. Along with the program, I believe that the U.S. should enhance border security,
but not to the extent of building a wall along the border. In conclusion, immigration has always been a
hot topic in the United States, and we all have different outlooks on the immigration issues. Although
some may fail to accept it, immigrants are a major part of our nation, and it is interesting to see what

The Head Start Program was developed through President Lyndon Johnson s administration. The

The Southern Gothic Is A Subgenre Of Gothic Fiction. The
The Southern Gothic is a subgenre of Gothic fiction. The Southern Gothic is best defined as a story
filled with irony, characters who fit the grotesque factor, social issues, violence, southern settings,
decay, outsiders, Civil War, and even slavery and race. Throughout Modern Southern Fiction, these
factors which create the Southern Gothic can be found in almost every literary work. In the novel by
Dorothy Allison titled Bastard Out of Carolina which was published in 1922, nearly every factor that
plays a role in the Southern Gothic can be found within, specifically the southern setting, social
settings, outsiders, the grotesque, and violence. In Bastard Out of Carolina, the setting in which the

Boatwrights are looked down upon and it stems from the fact that nobody in the town likes them.
There is a grandmother who curses and chews snuff, there are two crazy aunts who dive into the

argue that Bone s mother, Anney, while unlike the other Boatwrights, meaning that she is not wild and
not running off to beat up whoever gets in her way, is the biggest outsider in the town and causes the
most abject social issues. Due to falling pregnant at the age of fourteen, Anney was instantly looked

Why The Coin Doctrine Will Affect The Way Organisations...
Counter insurgency (COIN) operations are employed to combat an insurgency. These types of
operations present a highly complex operating environment within which conventional warfare is
becoming more and more ineffective. COIN operations form are large proportion of modern conflicts
and it is forcing organisations to develop new strategies and tactics in order for them to remain within
the legal bounds of international humanitarian law (IHL). This essay will explore how committing to a
COIN doctrine will affect the way organisations uphold the principles of IHL. It will also explore
whether a COIN doctrine will be effective in completing operations.
An insurgency is defined by the United States government as the organised use of subversion and
violence to seize, nullify or challenge political control of a region . Insurgencies have been present
throughout history as a form of warfare, however combatting an insurgency has always been difficult
even in the modern era. In recent operations in Afghanistan, religious extremism and ethnic
intolerance have given rise to fanatical groups that pose complex challenges which threaten social and
political stability. These group utilise all available means in order to gain an advantage as they
struggle for the acceptance by the people of the state or region of the legitimacy of one side s claim to
power . Results of this include the exploitation of the Laws of Armed Combat (LOAC) and the rules
of engagement (ROE) used by COIN forces.

Mass Migration to America During the 19th Century
This essay will address the reasons as to why there was mass migration to the United States of
America during the nineteenth century. As for this topic, the reasons for the mass migration was due to
industrialisation and employment and living standards, and thus many migrants traveled to America
with the hope of a better life. By saying that the reasons for the mass migration are primarily due to
industrialisation and employment and living standards, it is important to emphasize that the migrants
destination of America was better than remaining in their origin country. With all of this considered,
this essay will examine the roles of industrialisation and employment and living standard in the
decision to migrate to the United Sates of America during the nineteenth century. The potential reach
of this essay needs to be specified at the outset by identifying the migrants, whom traveled to America.
In the nineteenth century, the type of migrants can be broken into two periods, the early part of the
century, and the later half of the century. In the first half of the century, the migrants were primarily
farmers and artisans from rural areas, who traveled with family, and intended to acquire land and settle
permanently, whereas, in contrast, the migrants from the later half of the century were drawn from
urban areas with nonagricultural occupations, yet, in comparison, all the migrants were typically
unskilled and young, whom had limited schooling and training (Hatton,

Disobedience In Mark Twain s The Adventures Of Huckleberry...
Disobedience is often viewed as a non honorable trait, and is generally a bad term to use as a
description, nevertheless the mentality of an individual who disobeys in order to up rise social
progress outweighed the common perception of disobeying. Irish author Oscar Wilde refuted the
common idea of disobedience, said, Disobedience, in the eyes of anyone who has read history, is man
s original virtue. It s through disobedience that progress has been made, through disobedience and
through rebellion. Being disobedient doesn t mean being reckless or unethical. It means thinking for
oneself and resisting authority. It is actually required to be disobedient in order to promote progress,
like the Colonists, Huckleberry Finn, and even ourselves. Movements that have been marked down in
history are rooted to unsatisfied subjects that seek progress. For example, disobedience was present
early in history at 1765, when the American people were convinced to rebel against the British s act to
tax colonies. The Stamp Act and Declaratory Act of 1765 1766 forced the United Sate s 13 colonies to
pay taxes, demanded by the British country. To demonstrate their position in respect to ... Show more

Post Modernism and City of Glass
There is no clear definition of what postmodernism is. However, City of Glass is considered to be the
by far the text which is most visibly postmodernism. This is precisely because it offers the kind of
narrative that zigzags visibly, deliberately missing at all angle the sense of a foundation. The
postmodernist discourse remains central to the understanding of City of Glass. Perhaps the only thing
that makes the story alluring is the fact that it is steeped in postmodernist features. Otherwise, it would
have been just a cold and ambiguous story about too many coincidences. To understand the novel s
play with predictability, we must have recourse to the post modernist discourse about it. Aristotle
primarily argued in Poetics that: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As we see there is no clear structure in the novel. It is characterized by fragmentation and these
fragmentations can stand on their own which is contrary to Aristotle s concept of order in the novel.
For instance, City of Glass can stand on its own even if it is only part of The New York Trilogy. The
story can start anywhere and end anywhere. Auster s story branches out in all directions, without a
beginning, middle or end like some structureless rhizome and it actually reflects the typical the
postmodern central emptiness under the absent god . He therefore, disrupts the usual order of things.
Moreover, chance becomes the order by which the story operates. In fact, chance becomes what makes
the story moves forward. For instance, if Quinn had not received the wrong call by pure chance, there
probably would not have been any story. The story begins on hazard circumstances and thrives on
hazards to develop. Even the ending of City of Glass is one that is prone to lead to more hazard
instances. The story in itself does not deny the hand of chance as Quinn; himself states nothing is real
except the chance . The result of this is endless possibilities and alternatives. This reflects what
Baudrillard maintains in Chance, Culture and the Literary Text where he claims that certain
phenomena happen beyond our control and hence chance allowed certain space to escape
responsibility for such phenomena.
It should be considered that memory plays a

important qualities in A. interdum. First, the plasmid helps resist against antibodies, which is a
concern in the stomach as people take many different antibiotics to treat for a plethora of diseases and
ailments. The specific plasmid pBR322 contains genes that make the microbe resistant to tetracycline

MRSA is sometimes branded as a nosocomial infection as it usually plagues patients that are receiving

Nationalism in the Middle East
The concept of identity in a person s life often emanates from systemized sense of social
representations and relations. Actors in the identity criterion have a sense of belonging characterized
by a capacity of self reflection, entailing a process that constantly reaffirms one s status and
differentiation from others. Identity produces consciousness of action and becomes formalized, with
symbolic character and recognition found within specific limitations that are confined in a particular
environment (Montserrat 10). Therefore, an individual s uniqueness directly creates a singular person

nationalism because the Arab world possessed unique aspects due to cultural, political and religious

Despite having identical cultural orientations, the Arab nationalists had consciousness identity

Today, while the soft drink industry s value has increased in 2004, the volume sales of carbonated soft
drinks has declined due to a large proportion of consumers who are opting for the trend towards
healthier alternatives in the functional drink segment (energy drinks, smoothies, milk juice drinks,
sports drinks) as well as bottled juices and water (ref.5). Companies have been actively engaged in
new product developments in order to counter the growing concerns about negative health impacts of
high fructose drinks, but also to increase the demand in a market where product offerings are quickly
maturing (ref.4). New flavor introductions and health conscious formulations have been launched in
an attempt to offset the decline in carbonated soft drink sales (ref.6). The functional market is
expected to show sustained growth and consumer interest in the future years as consumption shifts to
trendier, healthier and more sophisticated products (ref.7).
Profitability future growth potential: In 1993, Concentrate Producers earned 29% pretax profits on
their sales, while bottlers earned 9% profits on their sales, for a total industry profitability of 14%.
While the functional drinks sector only accounts for 3.7% of the total soft drinks sales in 2004
(Appendix B), estimates are forecasting a growth of 7.3% in sales and 11.0% in volume consumption
by 2009 (ref.4).

The Stono Rebellion
With the European discovery of the New World, African slave trade began to grow. Slaves were traded
and bought and then shipped to some other place and then sold. Europeans would trade things for
slaves then bring them to places like the West Indies and sell them. They would then buy goods and
bring the goods back to Europe. This was the triangular trade system. Slaves played a vital role in
trade all over the world, old and new. Although African slavery had already existed, there were many
reasons as to why it was needed during the Atlantic World and there were many effects of this. As
Europeans began moving to the east coast of North America, they realized that if they were going to
use all this land, they needed people to work it. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The North thought there shouldn t be slavery, and the South thought there should be. This ended up
causing the South to secede from the Union, which in turn caused the bloodiest war in American
history to take place. After the Union won the war and slaves were freed shortly after, there was a
great deal of bitterness from the South for a long time. For a long time after slavery was abolished,
African Americans still didn t have many rights. Not until the late 1900s were rights given to them. It
took nearly 300 years for African Americans to be treated right, and sometimes they still

How the Concept of Diversity Rises with Globalization
Introduction
Diversity is generally defined as acknowledging, understanding, accepting, valuing and celebrating
differences among people with respect to age, class, ethnicity, gender, physical and mental ability,
race, sexual orientation, spiritual practice, and public assistance status (Etsy,et al. 1995).
The idea of diversity emerged when globalisation came into the picture in 1990 91 (Bhatia, 2008). As
globalization began to affect organisations, there was a coverage of workplace from diverse countries,
cultures, values, and styles that presented tremendous opportunities as well as challenges (Bhatia,
2008). Organisations can have the ultimate lead in the market place if effective human resources are in
place. Now in the 21st century, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When diversity management was first introduced, the system was guided by the melting pot approach.
Assuming that the minority will succumb to the cultural beliefs, values, and lifestyles of the majority
but upon further observation, organisations begin to realise that employees do not set aside their
lifestyles, believes, traditions or work styles regardless of what the dominant culture was in the
organisation (Bhatia, 2008). Therefore, it is preferred to respect, understand and value cultural
differences in an organisation instead of trying to change them. Through those difference,
management has to practice and learn to adapt to the life of the diverse groups.
The task of managing diversity is to create a comfortable environment for all employees to work in so
that they can be effective in their jobs. It is important for top managements to strongly emphasize on
this diverse culture as a goal and include diversity initiatives in their business strategies.

Airline Ticket Prices
Airline Ticket Prices
Jodie L. Hebner
Grantham University
An airline s ticket price is determined by several factors to include time of day a consumer wishes to
travel, day of the week such as Tuesday s and Thursday s are usually the most affordable days to
travel, popular versus non popular destinations, first class costs more than general class, cost of fuel,
competition from other airlines, special factors such as discounts for military, government or corporate
personnel, (How Stuff Works, n.d.) Airlines are constantly analyzing how much consumers are willing
to pay and pushing consumers to pay more.
Airlines have used numerous models and computer programs to manage revenue throughout time.

Airlines must be able to make a profit when setting ticket prices. By comparing the demand curve
with the average total cost curves for each airplane type, the airline can determine which size airplane
will maximize profits for a given flight. (Kons, n.d.)
In summary, as with any product, from airline tickets to gasoline prices consumers have continued to
pay the increased fares, so the airlines have become bolder in driving the prices up even further.
(Smith, CNNMoney, 2011) Consumers, their desire, need and want for an item or service will always
affect supply, demand, and cost curve. Most organizations have the same goal, which is to make a
profit while keeping their costumers happy.

  • 3. Analysis Of Bottled By Helene Johnson During the Harlem Renaissance, many African Americans were able to reveal and experience their culture through music, literature, and art. In the poem Bottled , Helene Johnson writes a narrative about someone experiencing the Harlem Renaissance. Helene Johnson, a poet during the Harlem Renaissance, appears to have wrote Bottled as an example of African Americans realizing their heritage and being proud of where they originated. The poem Bottled does tell a story of one seeking their heritage by observing someone letting loose and embracing their own origins by dancing on the streets of Harlem. Though at first the narrator seems confused, later he or she discovers the true meaning of this person s action. The title Bottled itself seems to refer to the roots of many African Americans that were hidden and could not be expressed. Through Helene Johnson s choice of diction and target audience, the poem Bottled has a meaning of heritage and finding one s roots. When reading Bottled , there is no hard vocabulary nor slang that makes it difficult to read; however, there is a lively language that carries out through the poem. In lines 5 6, the narrator explains, Just like the kids make pies/ Out of down at the beach to describe the bottle of sand in the library. This comparison seems to be childish because the narrator is relating it to an activity done by children, yet, it makes it easier to visualize. African Americans received a small amount of education compared to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The IUCN also states that Hawksbill Sea Turtles are also sought out for their hatchling eggs. The next cause for decreasing hawksbill population is the loss of habitat. Degradation such as pollution being introduced to the oceans including untreated sewage, exhaust, trash, chemicals such as pesticides and fertilizers, industrial and powerplant emissions and oil spills make their way into the water and the natural environment for this species and all ocean species that break down and destroy the ecosystem that they use to survive. Coaches play a large role in how a kid views and plays a sport. It all depends in what type of coach they are, they could be a good and positive coach for the child or they could be a bad coach which is a huge negative towards the children. For example, a good coach would keep his/her voice low after a mistake made by a player and tell him/her what they did wrong. A bad coach on the other hand would stand up and yell at the kids singling him/her out and telling that player they suck. Kids could quit a sport they ve loved forever because of how their coaches handle them and the game. Coaching happens all over the world and for all sports and at any age. With coaching being everywhere there will be bad coaches. One instance was when coach Raul Aragon got frustrated with an umpire at a baseball game and was thrown out. He than chased the umpire around until police arrived, he was coach of an 8 year old baseball team. Interviews should be nonaccusatory even if the investigator has clear reason to believe that the suspect is involved in the offense or has lied to them. Another key difference is their purpose, the purpose of an interview is to gather information while, the purpose of an interrogation is to learn the truth. The people who are subjected to each also varies, by that I mean that an investigator should interview everyone involved, if possible, including victims, witnesses, and the suspect, while an interrogation should only be conducted when the investigator is reasonably certain of a person s guilt, meaning only suspects are interrogated. Interviews can be conducted in various locations and are free flowing and relatively unstructured. • 12. Appreciation and Value for Life in Richard Wilbur s Poem... In humanity, one chooses to spend the most amount of time doing what they love in order to result in a satisfying and happily lived existence. Richard Wilbur expresses his appreciation and value of life throughout the poem, A Late Aubade . This poem is influenced and based off of Wilbur s strong relationship with his devoted wife. It emphasizes throughout detailed imagery how one must enjoy the moments they have and can share with their loved one. The existence of an individual is not about wasting time by being out and completing unnecessary jobs, it s about spending time doing what one loves to do. Wilbur is convincing his wife to not go about on her womanly daily activities; he wants her to stay and to take advantage of the few valuable moments life offers for them to be together. Throughout A Late Aubade , Wilbur stresses by applying descriptive language that in life, one must not waste any precious time and should rather focus on what they are passionate about. Richard Wilbur was born in New York City on March 1rst in 1921. He contained a strong literary background as he had come from a family of several journalists. Wilbur s father was a painter and as he recorded experiences of life through his paintings, Wilbur became inspired to do this through poetry. As he came from a Christian religious background, this was a great influence to him as he alludes to many Christian references throughout his works. This excerpt from the short story From Behind the Veil, written by Dhu l Nun Ayyoub, displays how differently people treat their beliefs. This story, along with an essay, A Portrait of Egypt, written by Mary Anne Weaver, discusses the topic of Egypt and how their past has developed today s culture. The author shows the festival qualities by explaining that everybody wears colorful robes, gowns and veils. The screen and visual images are represented by Motifs. They are related to the dominating characters which makes them important. Firstly, Fingers as signifiers. The films very first image is a point of view shot looking through Ada s fingers as if they frame her world. They are signifiers of expressiveness. Later, they are easily removed when necessary at Baine s house. The Boatwrights are looked down upon and it stems from the fact that nobody in the town likes them. As for this topic, the reasons for the mass migration was due to industrialisation and employment and living standards, and thus many migrants traveled to America with the hope of a better life. By saying that the reasons for the mass migration are primarily due to industrialisation and employment and living standards, it is important to emphasize that the migrants destination of America was better than remaining in their origin country. It means thinking for oneself and resisting authority. It is actually required to be disobedient in order to promote progress, like the Colonists, Huckleberry Finn, and even ourselves. Movements that have been marked down in history are rooted to unsatisfied subjects that seek progress. Today, while the soft drink industry s value has increased in 2004, the volume sales of carbonated soft drinks has declined due to a large proportion of consumers who are opting for the trend towards healthier alternatives in the functional drink segment (energy drinks, smoothies, milk juice drinks, sports drinks) as well as bottled juices and water (ref.5). Companies have been actively engaged in new product developments in order to counter the growing concerns about negative health impacts of high fructose drinks, but also to increase the demand in a market where product offerings are quickly maturing (ref.4). New flavor introductions and health conscious formulations have been launched in an attempt to offset the decline in carbonated soft drink sales (ref.6). The functional market is expected to show sustained growth and consumer interest in the future years as consumption shifts to trendier, healthier and more sophisticated products (ref.7). Profitability future growth potential: In 1993, Concentrate Producers earned 29% pretax profits on their sales, while bottlers earned 9% profits on their sales, for a total industry profitability of 14%. The idea of diversity emerged when globalisation came into the picture in 1990 91 (Bhatia, 2008). As globalization began to affect organisations, there was a coverage of workplace from diverse countries, cultures, values, and styles that presented tremendous opportunities as well as challenges (Bhatia, 2008). Organisations can have the ultimate lead in the market place if effective human resources are in place. Now in the 21st century, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When diversity management was first introduced, the system was guided by the melting pot approach. Assuming that the minority will succumb to the cultural beliefs, values, and lifestyles of the majority but upon further observation, organisations begin to realise that employees do not set aside their lifestyles, believes, traditions or work styles regardless of what the dominant culture was in the organisation (Bhatia, 2008). Therefore, it is preferred to respect, understand and value cultural differences in an organisation instead of trying to change them. Through those difference, management has to practice and learn to adapt to the life of the diverse groups. The task of managing diversity is to create a comfortable environment for all employees to work in so that they can be effective in their jobs. It is important for top managements to strongly emphasize on this diverse culture as a goal and include diversity initiatives in their business strategies.
