Phantom Tamer Case
This phantom sticker that supposedly left residue in the shape of a heart on the duct tape found at
the crime scene, was brought up in the trial by the prostitution even though a sticker was never
found. According to an article (Goddard, 2011), Elizabeth Fontaine, a forensic examiner in the FBI
s Latent Print Unit, testified in court that they were unable to find any fingerprints on the duct tape,
but during the examination, an outline of a heart appeared on one of the corners and edge, that was
approximately the size of a dime. Fontaine compared the heart shaped outline to the outline of
debris that gathers around the edges of a used Band Aid. The Phantom sticker showed up during the
examination of the duct tape under a special lighting tool

Human Resources At The Silicon Valley
Discipline Investigation
Introduction
Everyone has to choose a major in college for his or her future job. I decided to choose Human
Resources my sophomore year of college. I chose this major because I love interacting with people.
I love talking, helping, and communicating with people. Another reason why I like human resources
is because it is a challenge; every day is different. There is not a day that is the same at work.
There are always different situations to solve. Another reason why I chose to study human
resources is because I am living in Silicon Valley. There are many job opportunities in Silicon
Valley. Every company needs at least one human resources employee. Bigger companies have
multiple departments for human resources. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The department that I want to be part of is benefits and recruiting. The person that I interviewed
was Ms. K, and her position at Company X is executive team leader of human resources.
Company X is a very renowned retail chain superstore. She has worked at Company X for five
years. In this assignment I will share Ms. K s background, career path, roles and responsibilities,
and communication skills she uses on the job.
Background and Career Path
Ms. K is a Caucasian woman who has lived in San Jose all her life. Ms. K graduated from the
University of California Santa Barbara. Here, she studied both sociology and psychology. She
held several other positions before working for her current company. This included being an
intern at American Red Cross, and she also worked at a bank as a teller before. She worked at
the bank for almost a year before she decided that being a teller was not her ideal job. She told
herself at that point in her life that she did not put in all that time and effort in her studies to
become a teller. She joked that she enjoyed her position as a teller, but she did not enjoy her
paycheck as much. She explained to me that she could not support her family with that salary.
According to How Much Do Bank Tellers Make by Noel Griffith, the author explains the same
situation. Mr. Noel explains, According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics the average salary of a
bank teller is $25,760. One day she came across a job

The Death Penalty Is Truly A Crime Deterrent
Abstract
The death penalty has been one of the most debatable and contentious issues facing the American
public for many years. This paper proposes a study that analyzes the theory which holds that the
death penalty will prevent people from committing heinous crimes. Two hypotheses oversee this
study: 1) States that have a death penalty law will have lower rates of crimes punishable by death
than states without death penalty laws, and 2) States that have the most executions will have fewer
crimes punishable by death than states that do not execute often and those without a death penalty
law. To examine each of these hypotheses, I propose two case studies that will be conducted with
two States satisfying requirements for not having or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is illegal in eighteen states, including Minnesota and the District of Columbia.
Capital punishment is one of the most debated topics and contested issue in the United States and
the world today. Capital punishment is often seen as a humane way to execute the vilest criminals
and to discourage others from committing atrocious crimes. The death penalty is morally wrong
and violates the Sixth Commandment of the Bible, which says you shall not murder , the Eighth
Amendment which prohibits cruel and unusual punishment, and the Fourteenth Amendment to the
United States Constitution which guarantees equal protection of the laws and due process.
According to the Death Penalty Information Center, 972 people have been sentenced to death row
in the United States since 1973.
The main goals of the criminal justice system are to: rehabilitate offenders, and protect society from
those offenders. Ernest Van Den Haag argues that doing justice or deterring others (102) are the
objectives of the system. Therefore, the use of the death penalty is a means to an end. Opponents of
the death penalty must convince its supporters that it does not fulfill either of these objectives
while proponents rely on either argument for the justification of the system.
In regards to this proposal, this study will: 1) focus on the deterrence factor rather than question
whether the death penalty is ethical. Raymond T. Bye defines the cradle on which the theory of

Blindness And Sight In Oedipus By Sophocles
Most people believe eyes are the window to the soul, but in this ancient Greek tragedy, eyes can
be an indicator to someone s intelligence level. The blind do not always have the power to see
into the future just as those with sight are not always aware of their present day predicaments,
but in Ancient Greek, both of those are accurate. Sight and ignorance go hand in hand as well as
blindness and knowledge do in the story Oedipus by Sophocles. Sophocles uses irony to
emphasize positives and negatives for two men, Oedipus, King of Thebes and Tiresias, local
Oracle. Oedipus has sight but lacks the ability to fully comprehend situations in multiple scenes.
He is unable to interpret many clues given to him along the way, ultimately leading to his wife s
(and mother s) death along with his own downfall as well. Oedipus requested Tiresias to help
him stop the plague by figuring out who killed Laius, the past king of Thebes. When Tiresias
was hesitant to tell Oedipus that he was the true murderer, he recanted all the praise he gave the
prophet and said, You will not explain / what you understand, but rather intend / to betray us and
destroy the city. / ... You worst of wicked men! (Sophocles 348 350, 353). With this, the wise
Tiresias said, You have found fault with my anger, but your own, / living within you, you did not
see, but blamed me (Sophocles 356 357). His anger for not receiving what he asked of Tiresias
was blinding, even though in the end it brings his Fate to the

Improving Education Through Cultural Diversity
In today s society, I ve learned that cultural diversity is important and it has been for many centuries
ago. The dictionary states that cultural diversity is the cohabitation of different values, cultural, sex
and race in one definite component. In America today cultural diversity has been an everyday
expression in the educationworld. Some have a misunderstanding of what it may mean. We must
have some type of order if we plan to be successful when it comes to having a diverse school. This
happens within our own learning services where our children and our students are well educated.

I think it is a good ideas to teach children about what is right from wrong when they are young. I
like to tell children that they can work better together when they fully understand each other. Now
and days students have tons of technology in the classroom that most people feel that will help
them learn. Others feel like technology blocks student from learning because they depend on
google. I ve heard some students say that if you don t know the answer then you can just google it.
Children are being raised in the technology generation where technology is everywhere. But why
stop children from using technology when that s all that is big shown on television, in the media,
magazines, radio, etc.
From reading a new article from Pinellas County School District I learned that the children from
Tarpon Springs Elementary school are via video chatting with student from Greece. I find that to be
a great idea to have children interact through technology. Why? Because the questions that the
children are asking some teacher do not know because they have never been to Greece to
experience the things that the children over there have experienced. In case of emergency, how do
you get off the island (Reeves, 2016). A fifth grader asked that question, I felt that whatever question
that the children asked were all good questions. In the article it did not state all the questions but I
m pretty sure that some students had question about their school activities in

Alexander The Great Personality
ALEXANDER THE GREAT A MEGALOMANIAC ROSANNY ESPINAL GREEK
CIVILAZATION MONTCLAIR STATE UNIVERSITY Alexander the Great was born in 356
B.C. in Macedonia, Greece. Alexander was born into a royal family. Alexander the Great s
father, Philip was the King of Macedonia before he was and his mother was Olympias. When
Alexander turned twenty years old, his father was assassinated, and therefore he followed in his
father s footsteps gaining kingship and became the best king ever known to man. Ever since a
young boy, Alexander dreamed of having revenge over Persia. His plan was to defeat the
Persians and conquer all the mountains all the way up to India. Alexander has never lost a battle
out of the thirteen years he reigned, compared to other Greek generals before he has lost battles
but not Alexander the Great. Alexander wanted to create a big empire, he was motivated by
spreading Greek law and Greek culture. Alexander was obsessed with power wanting to conquer
many countries, and the desire for more power was always on his mind. His characteristics are
that of a megalomaniac because Alexander didn t stop at Persia, he wanted to conquer all the way
up the eastern shore to the Mediterranean. Alexander wanted everyone to just give up their homes,
no matter where he went. He would tell them first to surrender their power, and if they didn t he
would do anything just to gain power. He either went as far as selling the people into slavery or
even massacring them.

Modern Philosophy Of The Modern World And The External World
Lauren Estes
Modern Philosophy
Prof. Corsa As humans, I do not think we know as much as we think we know. Perhaps this is the
reason why in matters of Philosophical research some claim to have discovered the truth, while
others declare that finding it is an impossibility, and other are still seeking it (SE Handout 31). The
word truth in this quote is ambiguous. I believe that we will spend the rest of eternity seeking the
truth. The truth can mean many things to many different people. What is true for you may not be
true for me. Many of the modern philosophers dance around the question, What is real and what is
not? Although there are many arguments for and against the internal world and the external world,
I tend to lead towards the skeptics point of view. I do this on the simple notion that many of the
skeptics arguments are hard to refute. Much like Sextus Empiricus, I argue that we cannot know
anything with absolute certainty about the external world. Those who say that Sceptic deny
appearances seem to me to be ignorant of what we say (SE Handout 38). Sextus Empricus does not
deny appearances, he just is aware that we might not know for certain anything about the external
world. Sextus Empiricus infers, honey appears to use to have a sweetening quality. This much we
can concede, because it affects us with a sensation of sweetness. The question, however, is whether
it is sweet in an absolute sense (SE Handout 38). Skeptics are not crazy humans that simply

Sociological Imagination On Low Self-Esteem
In this paper I will use sociological imagination to connect my personal experience to dealing
with low self esteem in the theme of impression management. As a young girl, I ve always
struggled with low self esteem. Starting at the age of 15, I was so worried about trying to catch
up with these unreachable standards of beauty that I eventually lost sight of who I was
especially when it came to social media. There were times when I d try to change the way I

media has brought on a lot of pressure for me, like the desire to want to look good or be someone

I was a very introverted girl who didn t have very much friends in high school and the fact that I
got bullied almost every day for the way that I looked contributed to my self esteem issues. I felt
like I wasn t accepted for who I was. There were also times when I d find myself scrolling
through my newsfeed to see all of these attractive young women with their curvaceous body
posing in their bikinis on Instagram or Facebook. I would look at them and think how could I
ever compete with that. These were the type of females I ve seen people praising all the time
and I wanted to look like that. I then started changing my appearance and would start wearing
more revealing clothes. Sometimes I wouldn t even leave the house or take a photo without
dressing up or wearing caked on makeup because I thought people would think that I was
unattractive. The potential of being rejected by others for being myself really bothered me.
Social Media also gave me that ability to be someone more interesting or make my life more
exciting than it actually was, but in reality I was just a regular girl who was trying really hard to

One issue I would like to change today is breast feeding. I think it should be normalized. Yes,
women today have many benefits, thanks to our ancestors but I think this is an important issue
today for several women. How is it fair that we have spots dedicated to smokers but don t have a
place where a womancan feel secure while acting on a natural habit such as breast feeding her
infant? Society is full of harsh hypocrites. It s ok for woman to be braless wearing a tight shirt

4.1 Value Chain
Value chain is an approach to know how an item or activities create value for consumers. The most
of value provides to consumers, the most of competitive advantage an organization build. In this
analysis, value chain model has separated into primary and support activities. Primary activities are
included in the physical creation of the item and service. On the other hand, support activities give
the inputs and infrastructure that enable the primary activities to happen. This value chain model
can be refer to below figure 5.

The Issue Of Gun Control
In America there is a growing issue some say. The issue being gun control and how guns affect

about gun control to educate the public. Gun Control is an issue that needs to be avoided when
trying to persuade readers of an opinion for two reasons, the issue of guncontrol is a terrible essay
topic because there are too many emotions involved in gun control debates and because in general
there is no good research on gun control. The only essays and articles available for research are

America by showing credibility in several ways. First we see ethos expressed to stop gun control

Why Is It Morally Permissible To Turn The Runaway Trolley
To begin with, the Trolley case is an experiment where you are put into a situation where you are
on a runaway trolley where the breaks do not work and you are headed for five people and you
can either hit the five people, killing them or save them by turning the trolley hitting one person
and killing him. There is another scenario called the Footbridge case where you are in the same
situation but in order to save the five people you have to push a fat man off a bridge stopping the
trolley. This is very interesting experiment that questions human ethicsand morality. It makes you
think whether or not it is morally permissible to turn the trolley. I argue that there is an important
moral difference between the Trolley case and the Footbridge case because there is a difference
between letting someone die to save people and killing someone to save people.... Show more

I disagree with Thompson that it would be impermissible to re direct the trolley because even
though in both cases one person dies from an action you take, the action has different moral
standards of reason of what is right and what is wrong. Most people agree that it is morally
permissible to turn the trolley killing the one man to save people five and it is wrong to push a
fat man from a bridge to save five people. Most people believe this because they know that there is
a distinct moral difference between incidentally killing someone and intentionally killing someone.
Intentionally killing some one is a universal law that has serious consequences which is why
people view pushing the fat man off the bridge as

The self assessment test that is offered in unit 2, is a great help in understanding the areas that we
re both strong, and weak in.Taking a self assessment is the first step towards becoming proactive in
our learning. Becoming proactive in our learning (Bethel University, 2014), can help us make
greater strides in the learningprocess. The Organizational Leadership program removes barriers to
success that adult learners face (Bethel University, 2014). As a student in the Organizational
Leadership Program, I took the assessment as well.I was surprised in the areas that I did well
in.One area that I did well in , was management and leadership of people. I am a retail store
manager, therefore I feel that this skillis a natural skill, that I embrace. Goal setting, is another
skill that I feel confident in. Given my career as a manager, I have to set goals by the shift, and
the day, as well as the week, and month.Planning, is another skill that I did well in, along with
organization. The two go hand in hand in my daily activities, and you cant be an effective planner
without being organized. The last of my top five skills would be, speaking.I am confident when I

that Mathematics would be at the bottom of the list, mostly due to lack of interest in math, that I
have not put forth a lot of effort to succeed in this subject. Understanding technology, is my second

The Consequences Of Government Restrictions On Free Trade
Adam Smith was a moral philosopher most famous for pioneering classical economics in his
seminal work, The Wealth of Nations. Smith s central argument was that the free market, guided
by the invisible hand, is the best system to maximize prosperity and create most efficient
distribution of goods and services by allowing for individuals to pursue their self interests. Smith s
economic philosophy was especially groundbreaking for his time, as he lived in an era when
Europe was dominated by mercantilism, an economic system guided in large part by heavy
government intervention in order to maximize their nations balance of trade. This essay thus will

However, this irrational belief, highly popular in Europe at the time of Smith s writing, gave way
to a series of harmful practices due to the general impulse to accumulate gold and silver at all
costs. First, he notes that most European nations had either completely prohibited or strictly taxed
the exportation of precious metals to foreign countries (Smith IV 1.5). This, of course, was one of
the easiest ways of protecting their domestic supply of precious metals, simply by banning them
from leaving the country. However, the effect of this was negative, particularly on the miners and
merchants of these metals, who could frequently buy more advantageously with gold and silver
than with any other commodity the foreign goods which they wanted, either to import into their
own, or to carry to some other foreign country (Smith IV 1.5). While prohibiting one specific
medium of exchange (such as gold) from being used to make foreign transactions does not make
trade impossible, it simply makes it much more difficult and costly, as they must rely more on
bartering. Furthermore, Smith notes that these restrictions often failed, as gold and silver can be
smuggled out of the country, albeit at a much higher cost to the economy as a whole.
Additionally, Smith notes another harmful consequence of European mercantilism, the high
propensity of protective tariffs. The rationale behind this is to give domestic industries a
competitive edge

Therefore It is very prominent in society. Associative learning in general encompasses many
forms of learning including observational. Because of the vast amount of possible examples of
associative learning, this essay will present the experiment of Ivan Pavlov and John B. Watson.
While this experiment is specifically an example of classical conditioning, like the observational
theory, associative learning encompesses many other theories such as classical conditioning.
Here is the experiment of Ivan pavlov and his dogs. Pavlov, a physiologist ( not a physcologist )
was conducting an experiment involving dogs and their digestive system. Because he was
interested in the digestive system, he implanted tubes within his s dogs mouths to collect saliva.
After the dogs ate food he would measure the amount of saliva secreted. He discovered that the
dogs did not only salivated to the taste of food but to the sight of food,an empty bowl, and even
to the sound of footsteps of the lab assistants bringing them food. Pavlov was interested by this;
so he took it farther. Because he knew that dogs salivate to food,In his next experiment he rang a
bell right before giving the dogs food. He repeated this for a while. Consequently the dogs
learned to associate the ringing of a bell with food and as a result the dogs would salivate. In other
words the dogs learned to associate the ringing of a bell to food and as a result they would salivate.
Pavlov concluded that after exposure to a unconditioned stimulus plus a neutral stimulus you could

Love, Care, And Treat People With Respect From A Very...
I was taught to love, care, and treat people with respect from a very young age. When I was a
young girl, my mom would take me with her to work. At the time, she worked at an assisted
living center in Rome, Georgia. You see, I was a very quiet and curious child who observed the
world innocently with bright, untainted eyes. I didn t care much to be around the other
children who were usually loud and somewhat bothersome, but I enjoyed being around adults.
So when my mom would take me with her, the elderly people living there found much joy in
having my company. I would sit and listen to them tell me all sorts of stories from their past for
hours on end, but I loved to hear about them. In a way, I somehow understood that these people
were lonely and only had so much time left. They just wanted someone who could appreciate
them and what they had to say; they wanted to feel like they were of some importance and had a
sense of meaning. I cared greatly about what they had to say, even though I didn t understand it
that much. More importantly, I cared about their feelings and wellbeing. I can still remember at
least two of my mom s patients. One was a man named Lou, and I believe he wore a prosthetic
leg. He was a very sweet and dear old man who loved the outdoors. My mom would bring him
outside in the mornings to watch the birds and to get some fresh, crisp, morning air. He had
become a great friend to the both of us, a bit like a father and

Nitrate-Nitrite
The nitrate nitrite NO pathway can have beneficial health effects. Dietary nitrate has been shown to
improve the mitochondrial functioning as it affects proteins involved in uncoupling contributing to
an increase performance in exercise. The pathway begins through consumption of dietary nitrates
that are converted to nitrites by bacteria in the oral cavity. The reduction of nitrates to nitrites may
affect hemoglobin. Excess nitrites added to deoxygenated hemoglobin will oxidize to form
methemoglobin and nitric oxide(Gladwin Kim Shapiro,
2008). This formation can hinder oxygen transport and is the common cause for concern in nitrite
toxicity. Formation of nitric oxide allows for its use and reuse in cellular activities and may carry out

The body must go through chemical processes for healthy cellular function and homeostasis.
Human beings not only consume dietary nitrates but, the body also synthesizes nitrates
endogenously. This arises from the oxidation of nitrogenoxide and its end products. The synthesis
of nitrates to nitrites occurs endogenously and exogenously in the body. Consumption of inorganic
nitrates and nitrites will undergo reductive processes for the body s use and elimination. Nitrates
and Nitrites both contain nitrogen in its chemical structure. Nitrogen, in of itself, is often conserved
to be reused by the body s cells. Inorganic nitrates and nitrates that are consumed must be equally
eliminated. The metabolism of nitrates and nitrites ultimately result in its elimination through
salivary excretion or urination. Ingestion of inorganic nitrates will first undergo reductive activity
in the oral cavity through the bacteria present on the tongue. The metabolism continues until nitrites
are converted to nitric oxide where it enters the circulatory system and distributed to different target
tissues. The concentration of nitrites in the salivary glands account for 25% of total dietary intake
of nitrates (Gehle, 2007). The remaining concentration of nitrites are distributed in circulation and
eventually eliminated through the urine. Each route of elimination helps to rid the body of
potentially toxic

The Role Of Technology And Contemporary Urbanism
Intro
Information Age
The emergence of information technologies the past two decades marked the cities shift to what
Castells called the Information Age in his article, Space of flows, Space of places. The pervasive
and increasing influence of these technologies in cities means that the realm of networks and flows
transcends the built environment, altering our understanding of fundamental human experiences
and destabilizing meanings of material systems and structures. Hence it is important to
conceptualize the relationship between technology and contemporary urbanism,

In this paper, I seek to further extend the scope of the metaphors of metabolism and circulation to
the discussion of big data emerging as the new form of capital in the smart city.
Big data
There is increasing literature focusing on the discussion regarding big data. However, there is
yet to be a consensus regarding its definition. Keller, Koonin and Shipp s Big data and city living
what can it do for us? offers some examples and uses of data seen in the box below :
Kitchin proposes that there are three main sources of big data : directed, automated and
volunteered. He describes direct data as generated by traditional forms of surveillance, automated
data as generated as an inherent, automatic function of the device, application or system and
volunteered data as a form of crowdsourc[ed] data wherein users generate and contribute data to a
common system . The hype of big data is the sheer amount of data that can be collected and
processed, which has been touted to enable optimal performance, predict urban processes and
simulate outcomes for future

So Trump Makes Spelling Errors Analysis
In So Trump Makes Spelling Errors. In the Twitter Age, Whoo Doesn t? Farhad Manjoo shows
popular spelling errors made by Donald Trump in his tweets, expressing that one puts too much
weight on spelling and other typographical mistakes, stating that Twitter is a place for immediacy
and when one chooses to pay more attention to errors in spelling it blinds us to content instead of
paying attention to the unvarnished, unfiltered view of [Trump s] or anyone else s mind.
Manjoo, displays in his article several examples of spelling mistakes made by world renowned
politicians and his own spelling errors to demonstrate that criticizing grammatical errors in tweets,
it is elitist and makes one not focus on what people say but leads to losing the grasp of the more
essential crucial issue that is at stake. Manjoo showcases his affection for defending grammatical
errors claiming that people are attracted to spelling and it is a forgivable sin for politicians to
misspell as spelling correctly has become an important mainstay of the modern public education
system. With the white supremacist march that took place in Virginia this year, it was a viral and
significant topic regarding cultural oppression today. Trump tweeted praising the marches saying

Fashion Values In The Fashion Industry
The current reality of clothing production, called fast fashion, is the industry standard of mass
producing luxury styles in a matter of weeks. To do so, clothes are churned out quickly using poor
quality materials. This is problematic because of the large amount of unnecessary environmental
damage that this business model causes. The fashionindustry should abandon the current trend of
fast fashion and disposable clothingto decrease the amount of hazardous environmental waste
created. The fashion industry should adopt slow fashion values that aim to cut excess consumer
waste by changing the current societal norms around fashion buying and clothing disposal. Fast
fashion has become the pinnacle of the fashion industry because it is very profitable. Cheap
material and cheap overseas labor has made places like Walmart, Zara, and H M twice as
profitable as any retail store (Cline, The Clothes Make the Movement , 21). The average
American household spends one thousand and seven hundred dollars on apparel every year. One
third of the average household expense is claimed by women aged sixteen and older who spend
over five hundred dollars on clothing and shoes annually (Bureau of Labor Statistics). That dollar
amount translates into an average of sixty eight items of clothing and seven pairs of shoes per the
average American (Cline, The Clothes Make the Movement , 21). Cheap textile materials quickly
fall apart, lose color and shape, and are replaced by new fashion trends.

Global Warming Is A Huge Issue
Global warming is a huge issues. It is very concerning when we get little amounts of snow during
the winter. There is evidence that weather patterns are changing and unless change happens we
will no longer get to enjoy what Mother Nature has to offer. In my neighborhood we were only
allowed to water our lawns twice a week this year. What will happen if this trend continues?
There is lots of evidence proving that global warming is not a myth. What can we do to help with
rising climate change? One way would be to re think about how we build. There are a lot of new
green building ideas, and people are starting to incorporate into their home designs.

By building green buildings; we could greatly reduce our carbon foot print, thus leaving a greener

Building Clock Speed Vs. Processor s Errand

goal that you don t need to hold up for each line in the processor to settle for the aftereffect of

The Pardoner, a Symbol of Greed in Geoffrey Chaucer’s...
Geoffrey Chaucer s famous medieval classic, The Canterbury Tales, offers its readers a vast
array of characters. This God s plenty features numerous unique and challenging individuals, but
there is one specifically who stands out as particularly interesting. The immoral Pardoner, who, in
a sense, sells away his soul for the sake of his own avarice, puzzles many modern readers with his
strange logic. Already having laid his considerable guilt upon the table, this corrupted agent of the
Church attempts to pawn off his counterfeit relics for a generous price. His actions are slightly
troubling and mysterious, but his shameless misdeed is easily explainable if a reader chooses to

A dishonest clergyman could easily prey on the insecurities of the population in order to profit
from the sale of false relics. The Pardoner, similarly, is only fixed on what [he stands] to win (PP
75). Perhaps this suggests that the corrupted character has little else on his mind, wishing only
to cheat the devout and turn a greedy profit; he thinks of nothing but of his personal gain. He
won t do any labor with [his] hands, but his greedy heart intends to live the life of the most well
to do (PP 114). The Pardoner s sermons, preaching the ills of avarice, condemn the sin of which
he is guiltiest. Radix malorum est cupiditas, is the general theme of the Pardoner s sermons,
meaning that greed is the root of all evil (PP 6). In essence, evil is born from the foolishness of
greed, and playing the part of Greed, the Pardoner is a fool. His sermon drips with the revelation
of his own guilt, for he can think of little else other than his next financial gain, and so, he
thoughtlessly speaks of his own wicked guilt. Then, oddly, the Pardoner has the audacity to pitch
a sale, offering forgiveness for pennies, silver brooches, spoons, or rings (PT 424). He is
incapable of doing otherwise. After all, the Pardoner is the symbol and purest form of guilt; his
avarice is too great a temptation to steer him from making his eloquent sales pitch to the traveling
pilgrims. It is inevitable

Should Adopted Kids Know Who Their Biological Parents Are?
Whether adoptive children should know who their birth parents is something that is questioned too
much. Children should have the right to be able to know who their birth parents are if they choose
to do so. If children do not want to know who their birth parents are then they probably have a
reason behind it. Children who do not know who their birth parents are, should find out who they

Is Technology Ruining The Quality Of Communication
Our daily life is stuffed up with emails, text messages and constant social media. All of this raises
a question about whether technology is ruining or enhancing the quality of interaction with others
that we need as human beings. Sherry Turkle in her essay, No Need to Call and Jenna Wortham in
her essay, I Had a Nice time with You Tonight On the App explores this question but take opposing
positions. Turkle argues that technology is posing a threat to the human race by ruining the quality
of interaction in between people, while Wortham argues technology is a great source for many
people in different ways, she also believes romantic and intimate conversations can still take place
through technology. Based on my personal experiences, both arguments have merit: Technology
can impair as well as enhance our relationships with others based on a determination of people how
and what ways they use technology. We know our voice sometimes reveals some of our emotions.
The quality of the human voicehas the ability to help people gain information about how someone
else may be feeling. Whether they are happy, sad, emotional or stressed. Their facial expression
and the tone of their voice adds meaning to the conversation. In Sherry Turkle essay she explains
how people can hide their emotions through text messages and emails. She illustrates this with her
example of Tara and her close friend Alice experience of loss. Tara expressed, She would have

The National Association For The Education Of Young Children
According to Bredekamp (2014, p. 19), growing attention to early education primarily results from
impressive research demonstrating its effectiveness in improving outcomes for children .
Throughout this research, the organization National Association for the Education of Young
Children (NAEYC) , has established a set of standards for early childhood educational programs
(Bredekamp, 2014, p. 5). These standards were created specifically to help families determine
which preschool, kindergarten or child care program would be best for their child ( The 10
NAEYC, n.d.). Each of these standards set forth by NAEYC are important in their own way to
ensure the quality of early childhood educationfacilities. NAEYC has created ten early childhood
program standards (Bredekamp, 2014, p. 20). The standards can be broken down into two
distinguished categories with the first set of five standards, which include relationships,
curriculum, teaching, assessment of children s progress and health focus on the children
(Bredekamp, 2014, p. 20 21). The NAEYC believes that a good quality child care facility should
promote and encourage a positive relationship between adults and children as well as providing a
safe learning environment. It should have a curriculum in place and be able to implement it in
order to achieve its goals ( The 10 NAEYC, n.d.). A good program should use according to

Essay about The Powers of Satan in Paradise Lost
The Powers of Satan in Paradise Lost Since the beginning of Paradise Lost, a reader can witness
the dramatizing power possessed by Satan, and how he takes advantage of this very power in
order to satisfy his own causes. One such property of Satan s fantastic powers is his ability to
manipulate any individual into a false belief of who he really is, and therefore prevent a habitant
of paradise from discovering his true purpose that is hidden behind his actions. One such example
of this, and one of the most major in the epic, are the events that occur in Book IX involving Satan
and Eve around the forbidden tree. Here, Satan uses, what is to Eve, excellent reasoning to convince

Even though her beauty momentarily stuns him and he, for the time remained stupidly good,
his dedication to his vengeful cause prevails, and allows him to continue his appropriate plan. It
is this same dedication that throughout Satan s conversation with Eve, he does not allow her to
retreat back to Adam in order to lose such an ideal situation. Initially, Satan s actions with Eve
involve little effort to convince her that he is not any evil demon that Adam told her to expect
on her voyage. Simply, he uses his ability to flatter Eve in order to gain her attention and trust, an
essential objective if he was willing to destroy mankind (p. 248 249 lines 540 548): #8230;By
gift, and thy celestial beauty adore, With ravishment beheld #8230; #8230;who shouldst be seen
A Goddess among Gods, adored and served By Angels numberless, thy daily train? Using this
flattery to compliment her beauty, and allowing her to recognize the fact that all of Eden s
animals adore her, he slyly inserts the proposition that will allow her to become greater in power
and being, A Goddess among Gods, rivaling the omnipotent power possessed by God. Satan came
in the form of a snake, the only reptile and animal that could have the ability to pluck the forbidden
fruit from the tree. When questioned how he attained the ability to talk and interact, he simply
answered that he ate the fruit of the tree, and received the knowledge equal to that of a human.

Examples Of Imagination In Kubla Khan
According to Eagleton imaginative is what the mind can create using its originality and
exceptionality, it is something that has not occurred in real life, or cannot be claimed as something
factually true. It is conceived in the minds of individuals, but not projected into real life. He uses
terms like did not exist literary untrue , inventive to further state his opinion on what imaginative is.
Imaginative for the Romantics had three main functions; the capability to transcend reality, to
recreate memory, and to notify the creation of art.
Coleridge s Kubla Khan is a bright example of the transforming power imagination has. The poet s
usage of diction and allegories transform this poem into a symbol for imagination. It is said that
it was written after Coleridge s encounter with the sublime while still being under the effect of
opium, and when he went to record it, he was disrupted by a visitor and the remaining of the
poem was lost even to him. In the poem he shows how possibilities are limitless as long as our
imaginations are; Coleridge uses caverns measureless to man as a ... Show more content on

Again this piece by Coleridge is a demonstration of this principle. The lyrics flow up to a moment
of clear recollection of the scenery, leaving the poem incomplete so that the faculty of imagination
would not be diluted. Coleridge in the 3 stanzas which he relived captured the sublime, and the
striking feature of this poem is in its deconstructed syntax which eagerly captured the scenery. But
oh! That deep romantic chasm which slanted/ Down the green hill athwart a cedarn cover! / A
savage place! . This is a scene that Coleridge experienced in a dream, and its recollection in reality
must express the resplendence of what he felt. We can see that grammatical requirements were not
fulfilled since they would merely limit the true

The Myth Of Aerobic Training
Aerobic training is any training that is performed that utilizes aerobic energy. Also known as
cardio is defined as a physical exercise of low to high intensity it stimulates the heart rate and the
breathing rate. The myth that aerobic training is the only way to burn fat has been a myth from
big media corporations. Doing aerobic training burns more calories, which in tales making your
body need more calories to maintain. . Each individual has a certain calorie burn rate. so if your
body burns 1000 cal. a day, and you only eat 1200 cal. a day. You have 200 cal to burn during your
workout. So if you are not on a proper diet it is not beneficial to do all that cardio. Too much of
the cardio while have your body store the cal that you would normally

Doreen Collyer
By Zak Groenewald Shield
Just last Sunday 60 year old lady Doreen Collyer was on her regular dive in the azure blue
transparent waters of Mindarie beach, a kilometre off shore, happily paddling around in the ocean

trout, Emperors, Fusiliers, Parrotfishes , Surgeonfishes , Sweetlip darting around her in bursts of
colour and diving into moss green seaweed crevices. Collyer would often dive just after having her

His shredded swimming costume was later found.
November 6, 2000: Businessman and father of three Ken Crew, 49, died after his leg was torn off
by what Fisheries officers believe was a white pointer shark up to 4m long at North Cottesloe beach.
Government response to threat of sharks
The West Australian Government has ruled out a return to drum lines off beaches following a shark
attack at Mandurah, but will continue to hunt and trap sharks it believes are a threat to swimmers.
When we introduced that policy, the rest of Australia and national media was aghast that we might
catch and kill a shark, Premier Colin Barnett said.
The policy did not prove effective in catching great whites and the great white shark was principally
the problem, he said.
The Greens View :
Our Bill ends the exemption to the EPBC Act that has allowed Colin Barnett s cruel cull to go
ahead. It will also prevent the Federal Environment Minister from granting any future exemptions to
the Act for the purposes of using drum lines to catch sharks, Greens Leader Senator Christine Milne

Latinx Feminist Theory
The term feminism encapsulates a vast variety of topics important to women s rights.
Unfortunately, feminist theory is often talked about within the restrictions of a reproductive binary.
Latinx feminist theory is more than just a reproduction binary. As women of color, Latinx women
have historically been undermined and excluded from social narratives. Latinx women however,
challenge various forms of oppression, such as the perpetuations of sexism, racism, and violence,
by sharing their testimonios to the world a vulnerable yet incredibly strong form of resistance. This
specialized theory addresses many of the barriers that intersect and impact Latinx women on a daily
and generational basis. Evident in my resistance poem, through the use... Show more content on

I demonstrate the importance of allywork to the Latinx feminist theory in stanza six by which I
call for readers to help Liberate not only women, but anyone oppressed. Despite the differences of
our experiences, Latinx feminist theory believes that our differences should serve as an incentive to
establish solidarity towards justice, not another borderland to cross. Similar to the reproductive
justice theory s utilization of the Ubuntu philosophy, the belief in the universal bond of sharing that
connects all humanity (201 RJT) Latinx feminist theory embraces unity as a direct path to the
realization of the left world concept. Furthermore, I emphasize the essentiality of allywork to the
theory through the motif of It begins today/Empezando hoy. The motif functions as a reminder of
how vital it is to Latinx feminist theory to being unified among marginalized groups as a way of
creating effective change for

Phantom Tamer Case This phantom sticker that supposedly left residue in the shape of a heart on the duct tape found at the crime scene, was brought up in the trial by the prostitution even though a sticker was never found. According to an article (Goddard, 2011), Elizabeth Fontaine, a forensic examiner in the FBI s Latent Print Unit, testified in court that they were unable to find any fingerprints on the duct tape, but during the examination, an outline of a heart appeared on one of the corners and edge, that was approximately the size of a dime. Fontaine compared the heart shaped outline to the outline of debris that gathers around the edges of a used Band Aid. • 3. Human Resources At The Silicon Valley Discipline Investigation Introduction Everyone has to choose a major in college for his or her future job. I decided to choose Human Resources my sophomore year of college. I chose this major because I love interacting with people. I love talking, helping, and communicating with people. Another reason why I like human resources is because it is a challenge; every day is different. There is not a day that is the same at work. There are always different situations to solve. Another reason why I chose to study human resources is because I am living in Silicon Valley. There are many job opportunities in Silicon Valley. • 4. The Death Penalty Is Truly A Crime Deterrent Abstract The death penalty has been one of the most debatable and contentious issues facing the American public for many years. This paper proposes a study that analyzes the theory which holds that the death penalty will prevent people from committing heinous crimes. Two hypotheses oversee this study: 1) States that have a death penalty law will have lower rates of crimes punishable by death than states without death penalty laws, and 2) States that have the most executions will have fewer crimes punishable by death than states that do not execute often and those without a death penalty law. To examine each of these hypotheses, I propose two case studies that will be conducted with two States satisfying requirements for not having or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is illegal in eighteen states, including Minnesota and the District of Columbia. Capital punishment is one of the most debated topics and contested issue in the United States and the world today. Capital punishment is often seen as a humane way to execute the vilest criminals and to discourage others from committing atrocious crimes. The death penalty is morally wrong and violates the Sixth Commandment of the Bible, which says you shall not murder , the Eighth Amendment which prohibits cruel and unusual punishment, and the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution which guarantees equal protection of the laws and due process. According to the Death Penalty Information Center, 972 people have been sentenced to death row in the United States since 1973. The main goals of the criminal justice system are to: rehabilitate offenders, and protect society from those offenders. Ernest Van Den Haag argues that doing justice or deterring others (102) are the objectives of the system. Therefore, the use of the death penalty is a means to an end. Opponents of the death penalty must convince its supporters that it does not fulfill either of these objectives while proponents rely on either argument for the justification of the system. In regards to this proposal, this study will: 1) focus on the deterrence factor rather than question whether the death penalty is ethical. Raymond T. Bye defines the cradle on which the theory of ... • 5. Blindness And Sight In Oedipus By Sophocles Most people believe eyes are the window to the soul, but in this ancient Greek tragedy, eyes can be an indicator to someone s intelligence level. The blind do not always have the power to see into the future just as those with sight are not always aware of their present day predicaments, but in Ancient Greek, both of those are accurate. Sight and ignorance go hand in hand as well as blindness and knowledge do in the story Oedipus by Sophocles. Sophocles uses irony to emphasize positives and negatives for two men, Oedipus, King of Thebes and Tiresias, local Oracle. Oedipus has sight but lacks the ability to fully comprehend situations in multiple scenes. He is unable to interpret many clues given to him along the way, ultimately leading to his wife s (and mother s) death along with his own downfall as well. Oedipus requested Tiresias to help him stop the plague by figuring out who killed Laius, the past king of Thebes. When Tiresias was hesitant to tell Oedipus that he was the true murderer, he recanted all the praise he gave the prophet and said, You will not explain / what you understand, but rather intend / to betray us and destroy the city. / ... You worst of wicked men! (Sophocles 348 350, 353). With this, the wise Tiresias said, You have found fault with my anger, but your own, / living within you, you did not see, but blamed me (Sophocles 356 357). • 8. Modern Philosophy Of The Modern World And The External World Lauren Estes Modern Philosophy Prof. Corsa As humans, I do not think we know as much as we think we know. Perhaps this is the reason why in matters of Philosophical research some claim to have discovered the truth, while others declare that finding it is an impossibility, and other are still seeking it (SE Handout 31). The word truth in this quote is ambiguous. I believe that we will spend the rest of eternity seeking the truth. The truth can mean many things to many different people. What is true for you may not be true for me. Many of the modern philosophers dance around the question, What is real and what is not? Although there are many arguments for and against the internal world and the external world, I tend to lead towards the skeptics point of view. I do this on the simple notion that many of the skeptics arguments are hard to refute. Much like Sextus Empiricus, I argue that we cannot know anything with absolute certainty about the external world. Those who say that Sceptic deny appearances seem to me to be ignorant of what we say (SE Handout 38). Sextus Empricus does not deny appearances, he just is aware that we might not know for certain anything about the external world. Sextus Empiricus infers, honey appears to use to have a sweetening quality. This much we can concede, because it affects us with a sensation of sweetness. There is another scenario called the Footbridge case where you are in the same situation but in order to save the five people you have to push a fat man off a bridge stopping the trolley. This is very interesting experiment that questions human ethicsand morality. It makes you think whether or not it is morally permissible to turn the trolley. Smith s economic philosophy was especially groundbreaking for his time, as he lived in an era when Europe was dominated by mercantilism, an economic system guided in large part by heavy government intervention in order to maximize their nations balance of trade. However, this irrational belief, highly popular in Europe at the time of Smith s writing, gave way to a series of harmful practices due to the general impulse to accumulate gold and silver at all costs. First, he notes that most European nations had either completely prohibited or strictly taxed the exportation of precious metals to foreign countries (Smith IV 1.5). This, of course, was one of the easiest ways of protecting their domestic supply of precious metals, simply by banning them from leaving the country. However, the effect of this was negative, particularly on the miners and merchants of these metals, who could frequently buy more advantageously with gold and silver than with any other commodity the foreign goods which they wanted, either to import into their own, or to carry to some other foreign country (Smith IV 1.5). While prohibiting one specific medium of exchange (such as gold) from being used to make foreign transactions does not make trade impossible, it simply makes it much more difficult and costly, as they must rely more on bartering. Furthermore, Smith notes that these restrictions often failed, as gold and silver can be smuggled out of the country, albeit at a much higher cost to the economy as a whole. Additionally, Smith notes another harmful consequence of European mercantilism, the high propensity of protective tariffs. The rationale behind this is to give domestic industries a competitive edge ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dietary nitrate has been shown to improve the mitochondrial functioning as it affects proteins involved in uncoupling contributing to an increase performance in exercise. The pathway begins through consumption of dietary nitrates that are converted to nitrites by bacteria in the oral cavity. The reduction of nitrates to nitrites may affect hemoglobin. Excess nitrites added to deoxygenated hemoglobin will oxidize to form methemoglobin and nitric oxide(Gladwin Kim Shapiro, 2008). Human beings not only consume dietary nitrates but, the body also synthesizes nitrates endogenously. This arises from the oxidation of nitrogenoxide and its end products. The synthesis of nitrates to nitrites occurs endogenously and exogenously in the body. Consumption of inorganic nitrates and nitrites will undergo reductive processes for the body s use and elimination. Nitrates and Nitrites both contain nitrogen in its chemical structure. Nitrogen, in of itself, is often conserved to be reused by the body s cells. Inorganic nitrates and nitrates that are consumed must be equally eliminated. The metabolism of nitrates and nitrites ultimately result in its elimination through salivary excretion or urination. Ingestion of inorganic nitrates will first undergo reductive activity in the oral cavity through the bacteria present on the tongue. The metabolism continues until nitrites are converted to nitric oxide where it enters the circulatory system and distributed to different target tissues. The concentration of nitrites in the salivary glands account for 25% of total dietary intake of nitrates (Gehle, 2007). Farhad Manjoo shows popular spelling errors made by Donald Trump in his tweets, expressing that one puts too much weight on spelling and other typographical mistakes, stating that Twitter is a place for immediacy and when one chooses to pay more attention to errors in spelling it blinds us to content instead of paying attention to the unvarnished, unfiltered view of [Trump s] or anyone else s mind. Manjoo, displays in his article several examples of spelling mistakes made by world renowned politicians and his own spelling errors to demonstrate that criticizing grammatical errors in tweets, it is elitist and makes one not focus on what people say but leads to losing the grasp of the more essential crucial issue that is at stake. Manjoo showcases his affection for defending grammatical errors claiming that people are attracted to spelling and it is a forgivable sin for politicians to misspell as spelling correctly has become an important mainstay of the modern public education system. • 25. Fashion Values In The Fashion Industry The current reality of clothing production, called fast fashion, is the industry standard of mass producing luxury styles in a matter of weeks. To do so, clothes are churned out quickly using poor quality materials. This is problematic because of the large amount of unnecessary environmental damage that this business model causes. The fashionindustry should abandon the current trend of fast fashion and disposable clothingto decrease the amount of hazardous environmental waste created. The fashion industry should adopt slow fashion values that aim to cut excess consumer waste by changing the current societal norms around fashion buying and clothing disposal. Fast fashion has become the pinnacle of the fashion industry because it is very profitable. Cheap material and cheap overseas labor has made places like Walmart, Zara, and H M twice as profitable as any retail store (Cline, The Clothes Make the Movement , 21). The average American household spends one thousand and seven hundred dollars on apparel every year. One third of the average household expense is claimed by women aged sixteen and older who spend over five hundred dollars on clothing and shoes annually (Bureau of Labor Statistics). That dollar amount translates into an average of sixty eight items of clothing and seven pairs of shoes per the average American (Cline, The Clothes Make the Movement , 21). • 29. The Pardoner, a Symbol of Greed in Geoffrey Chaucer’s... Geoffrey Chaucer s famous medieval classic, The Canterbury Tales, offers its readers a vast array of characters. This God s plenty features numerous unique and challenging individuals, but there is one specifically who stands out as particularly interesting. The immoral Pardoner, who, in a sense, sells away his soul for the sake of his own avarice, puzzles many modern readers with his strange logic. Already having laid his considerable guilt upon the table, this corrupted agent of the Church attempts to pawn off his counterfeit relics for a generous price. His actions are slightly troubling and mysterious, but his shameless misdeed is easily explainable if a reader chooses to interpret the man as a symbol rather than a fully formed human... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A dishonest clergyman could easily prey on the insecurities of the population in order to profit from the sale of false relics. The Pardoner, similarly, is only fixed on what [he stands] to win (PP 75). Perhaps this suggests that the corrupted character has little else on his mind, wishing only to cheat the devout and turn a greedy profit; he thinks of nothing but of his personal gain. He won t do any labor with [his] hands, but his greedy heart intends to live the life of the most well to do (PP 114). The Pardoner s sermons, preaching the ills of avarice, condemn the sin of which he is guiltiest. Radix malorum est cupiditas, is the general theme of the Pardoner s sermons, meaning that greed is the root of all evil (PP 6). In essence, evil is born from the foolishness of greed, and playing the part of Greed, the Pardoner is a fool. His sermon drips with the revelation of his own guilt, for he can think of little else other than his next financial gain, and so, he thoughtlessly speaks of his own wicked guilt. Then, oddly, the Pardoner has the audacity to pitch a sale, offering forgiveness for pennies, silver brooches, spoons, or rings (PT 424). He is incapable of doing otherwise. After all, the Pardoner is the symbol and purest form of guilt; his avarice is too great a temptation to steer him from making his eloquent sales pitch to the traveling pilgrims. It is inevitable ... The National Association For The Education Of Young Children According to Bredekamp (2014, p. 19), growing attention to early education primarily results from impressive research demonstrating its effectiveness in improving outcomes for children . Throughout this research, the organization National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) , has established a set of standards for early childhood educational programs (Bredekamp, 2014, p. 5). These standards were created specifically to help families determine which preschool, kindergarten or child care program would be best for their child ( The 10 NAEYC, n.d.). Initially, Satan s actions with Eve involve little effort to convince her that he is not any evil demon that Adam told her to expect on her voyage.
