Example Of An Outsider Research Paper
Many people describe themselves as Outsiders without knowing what one is, know you can ask
yourself, are you an outsider ? Outsiders are people who are misunderstood. This can mean
multiple things. For Example, not being understood by your peers, not being heard the way you
want to be heard, and not being in the right situation but being in that situation. There are many
scenarios were one is misunderstood and therefore being labeled as an Outsider. For example in
Metamorphosis Gregor tried being understood by his family but as a bug it was hard for him.
Following that in benjamin franklin s story, he was misunderstood and was thought up as weird
which made him an outsider. In the Metamorphosis, Gregor, went through this transformation into

The Monkey s Paw And The Third Wish
Be careful what you wish for. This is a common quote that most people hear many times throughout
their lives. The two short stories The Monkey s Paw and The Third Wish demonstrate this quote by
showing most wishes often come with unexpected consequences. These two stories are very much
alike and share many similarities in both their moods, and motifs.
There are many similarities between the two short stories The Third Wish and The Monkey s Paw .
One major similarity they share is their overall mood. The mood both stories share is the feeling
of mystery. Mystery is shown in The Monkey,s Paw when the Sergeant major first told the White
family about the monkey s paw, and it s magical powers. The author writes monkeys paw? Said
mrs. White curiously. Well, it s just a bit of what you might call magic, perhaps said the sergeant
major offhandedly . This quote shows the mystery in The Monkey s Paw because to most
people magic is quite a big mystery. Some people believe it is real and some do not. Others don t
know what to believe because magic is not a thing that you can see, or prove to be real. Mystery
can also be felt in the mood of The Third Wish . A good example of when mystery is displayed is
at the very beginning of the story. mr. Peters had just gotten out of his car and was starting to
search for the unknown creature that was making distressed sounds He stood a moment waiting to
try and discover where the noise was coming from,

Allegories In Dante Alighieri
About everything in life has a deeper meaning and it can be found with just a touch of creativity.
But the ability to construct the meaning into literature takes so much more talent. That s where the
average authors get weeded out from the great. Dante Alighieri is one of these great authors and it
shows in his writing. He uses an abundance of allegories throughout his books making the reader
overthink every word. In his book Inferno, Dante Alighieridescriptively crafts three allegories of
Francesca, the city of Florence, and Dante s journey to incorporate hidden symbolism and meaning
submerged underneath the cover story of Dante s version of Hell.
Every once in a while it s necessary to take a step back, evaluate your life, and look at the bigger
picture, which is what Dante did when he toured Hell. Dante Alighieri makes it obvious that
Florence is Dante s Hell on earth by the way he incorporates all the negativity. Dante Alighieri s
description of Florence leaves the readers to believe the city is in political ruins. There are so
many sinners living there and Dante shows this when he says, But tell me, if you can, where
they ll all end,/ the citizens of that divided town?/ Is there amongst them any honest man?
(Alighieri 51) to paint a picture of how he views Florence. The beginning of the quote allows the
readers to interpret that Dante doesn t have much confidence that they will go to heaven, rather
he suggests that because of this indecisiveness that they will later be found in Hell. He used the
word divided to show that there is a big controversy, which split the city of Florence, as he
explains in the quote. The second sentence flat out states that he doesn t believe that there is a
single honest man left and this is shown because of how he punctuates the end of the sentence
with a question mark. This proves that Dante considers Florence as Hell because of all the sinners
there. If he doesn t think he could find a single innocent person there, then it is basically equivalent
to Hell, which Dante doesn t want to live in. All the depreciation of Florence shows that Dante
doesn t want to live there and considers the city the trail that s directly feeding sinners to Hell.

Everybody Loves Raymond Tv Show Analysis
After watching both TV Sitcoms, Everybody loves Raymond and Modern Family , there is a lot
of differences and similarities to analyze, comparing both on styles and production. First,
Everybody loves Raymond is an American TV series show in the sitcom genre, created by Philip
Rosenthal and aired on CBS since 1996. When I was watching it, I noticed that their settings were
practically similar to ВЁModern FamilyВЁ, showing both sites in a family house. For example,
both TV shows started with an establishing show. It is showing basically an overview of the
location on where the scene will take place. The director used different settings in the house, like
for example, in the bedroom, kitchen, living and dining room. The lighting in ВЁEverybody... Show

Indeed, this is like that because the creators Christopher Lloyd Steven Levitan, made this TV
sitcom particularly in a Mockumentary style or (docu comedy style, in which means that they
present the events in a documentary style just to create comedy. Modern Family have that
particular style of using more camera movements than the show of Everybody loves Raymond ,
that is more static. This dramatically movements of the camera makes the show seems like in a
face pace running all the time. They do faster close ups, zooms in/ out, tilting up/ down, and they
do faster movements of panning left/ right, to follow the conversation of the actors, which is
totally different from the other show. Another differences on both shows is that in ВЁModern
FamilyВЁ they have that particular style when you see the actors talking directly to the camera,
like they are having a conversation to someone, or just maybe pretending they are talking to
themselves. However, we don t see this in ВЁEverybody loves RaymondВЁ but there is because
they are acting to follow the story of the family but in that particular way of the viewer listening to
the live audience laughing after something funny

Legalization of All Drugs Essay
Legalization of All Drugs
Legalize Drugs! I know what you re thinking, are you crazy!
The debate over the legalization of drugs continues to disturb the American public. Such an issue
stirs up moral and religious beliefs, beliefs that are contrary to what Americans should believe. I
ask all of you to please keep an open mind and hear me out on this very controversial subject. All
of us have in some way or another been affected by drug, whether it is a family member or the
economic burden on society. Americans often take at face value the assumptions that drugs cause
addiction, which leads to crime. This is true but abundant evidence exists to support the view that
legalizing illicit drugs can help solve the drug problem in America. ... Show more content on

Why would an inner city youth degrade themselves by working for five dollars an hour at
McDonalds? While some of his peers are standing on a corner, selling drugs for a couple of
hundred dollars an hour. So you risk going to jail. Unfortunately jail for some people is better
than living in the conditions, which they live in now. The slick young pushers are the new role
models for today s youth. They are wearing designer clothes and are driving the new $50,000 cars.
They are being seen everyday with a smug smile that tells the younger children that drugs pay.
One way to combat the problem is to go after the pusher: arrest them and toss them in jail. This is
the approach we use today but it is not an effective one. This is because people will do anything
and use all their intellect to avoid arrest. A lot of Americans have sufficient talent to get away
with illegal crimes. As we attempt to crack down on the violence and drug trafficking, we find
that our justice and prison systems are ill equipped to handle the problem to the magnitude as we
see now. Who is going to pay the billions of dollars required to build the prisons, hire the judges,
train the police men for the load already on hand, let alone the huge one yet to come if we ever get
serous about arresting dealers and the users. There has got to be a better way. Every day, police
officers face ruthless drug dealers, who would rather shoot an office than spend twenty five

The Negative View of Society in Wilfred Owen s Poetry Essay
Dulce et Decorum est and Anthem for Doomed Youth are both written by Wilfred Owen, and
both are written to show the war [World War I] and the pity of war . Owen does this by regaling
very sad and often shocking poems that I believe are very effective in delivering their purpose.
Both poems present negative views of society through tone and metaphors and Dulce et Decorum
est also uses similes.
A poem that presents a negative view on society is Dulce et Decorum est. It is a satirical poem
about the old Latin saying it is entitled after. Through this poem Owen is trying to tell us that this
old saying is a lie, and that war is much less glorious than many adults make it out to be. From the
very first line Bent double, like old beggars ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The metaphors the blood come gargling from the froth corrupted lungs and vile, incurable sores on
innocent tongues have the same effect as the similes through their unpleasant words; they are there
to shock you, and they are so haunting that they amplify the effect of the satirical ending Dulce et
Decorum est pro patria mori. , which means it is sweet and fitting to die for your country . Owen
presents society negatively through this poem because in the poem we see that adults are lying
to young men in order to get them to go to war, for example by using the saying Dulce et
Decorum est Pro patria mori . By showing us how gruesome the war is, and then by explaining to
us that the adults are telling children that it is sweet and fitting to die for your country, Owen is
trying to show how society is almost tricking teenagers into wanting to go fight in the war. This
obviously presents a negative view on society, but it serves Owen s purpose of wanting to show
the pity of war.
Another poem which presents a negative view on society is Anthem for Doomed Youth. It is
written as an extended metaphor for a soldier s funeral rites during World War I. In this poem
Owen reminds the reader that every one of the millions who died in the war was an individual, and
each death brought with it immeasurable sadness and loss. It is written in two stanzas and first

True Grit And Ray From Charles Portis s The Dog Of The...
When someone is devoted in life, they can most likely achieve their all time life goals. Mattie Ross
from Charles Portis s True Grit and Ray from Charles Portis s The dog of the south show devotion
throughout their novels: obsession showing devotion, revenge showing devotion, and bravery
leading to devotion. Throughout True GritMattie is shown to be obsessive, which is shown
through her devotion throughout the novel. That is my father. I stood there looking at him.
What a waste! Tom Chaney! Would pay for this! I would not rest easy until that Louisiana cur
was roasting and screaming in hell (24). Mattie ultimately is enraged at the fact a drunken
coward kills her father, She set s out to find her father s killer, since she has an obsession over
her father s death. Another piece of evidence from the text that shows this is when, a Sheriff tells
Mattie about the toughest U.S Marshall, The meanest one is Rooster Cogburn. He is a pitless
man, double tough, and fear don t enter into his thinking. He loves to pull cork. Now L.T Quinn,
he brings his prisoners alive... He will not plant evidence or abuse a prisoner. He is a straight as
a string (37). The Sheriff in this quote has just answered Mattie s question on to where she could
find one of the toughest U.S Marshall s to track down her father s killer, she then becomes
obsessed with this man, and it become one of her goals to set out and find him. Throughout The

The Use of Symbols in John Steinbeck s The Chrysanthemums
In John Steinbeck s short story, The Chrysanthemums, he uses the flower to symbolize his main
character s thoughts and ideas. There are many examples of such symbolism in this work.
Elisa Allen is a lonely woman who enjoys growing and nourishing her chrysanthemums. Since
her husband is always working the cattle in their farm, she never has enough attention or any
kind of affection. The result of this dispassionate marriage leads Steinbeck to describe his main
character as follows, Her face lean and strongВ…Her figure looked blocked and heavy in her
gardening costume, a man s black hat pulled lowВ…clod hopper shoesВ…completely covered by
a big corduroy apronВ… (Page 206 207) This neglect from her busband causes her to turn to her ...

Paradise Lost And Antigone Comparison
To educate a man in mind and not in morals is to educate a menace to society. (Roosevelt). Since
the beginning of time societies have existed, thriving among mankind. Societies dictate norms
and regulations for the people living within them by establishing a status quo. Since the status
quo exists, a large majority of people alter their actions and words they do and say to fit the
societal norm, the status quo in order to seem normal . As common as a status quo is to
societies, so is the reality of a rebel: someone who goes against the status quo, such as Antigone.
Societies also have people who overly conform, in turn suffering negative consequences, such as
Eve. If a comparison of both works (Antigone and Paradise Lost) are taken, it will remain
obvious that Antigone materializes as a stronger, more self independent character who is against
the societal norms, whereas Eve lacks enough inner strength and willpower to avoid conforming
to the origin of the negativity of social norms. In general, society is not an evil device to have a
part in, rather, it is completely normal. If an individual lives in a community, neighborhood, city,
town, village, etc., they belong in a society. Societies provide chaos management ; they keep
people supposedly in line and provide rules. Rules are not wicked, but sometimes certain rules may
go against the morals of a person, making the rules a negative aspect of society. This transforms the
relationship of an individual existing in

Miscarriage Is The Most Common Complication Of Pregnancy
Introduction
Miscarriage is the most common complication of pregnancy in the United States, occurring in 15
20% of clinically recognized pregnancies, or ~1,000,000 cases annually. Despite its frequency, the
majority of Americans believe that it is a rare complication occurring in 5% or fewer of all
pregnancies. Miscarriage can be an unexpected and emotionally devastating diagnosis for patients
and their partners with studies showing that some women may suffer from psychological morbidity
for months after the miscarriage and even into subsequent pregnancies. Our recent study revealed
that those who have suffered a miscarriage frequently feel guilty, isolated and alone. Additionally,

of their own loss on the publics perception of miscarriages.
Materials and Methods
A 19 item survey was constructed to assess the effect of public figures revelation of their loss on
public perceptions of miscarriage. Miscarriage was defined as a pregnancy loss occurring earlier
than 20 weeks. Four additional items (for a total of 27) were directed to those reporting a personal
history of miscarriage and four additional items were specifically for those reporting recent
awareness of celebrity loss. Both men and women were included in the survey.
The survey was posted online using crowdsourcing web service Amazon.com Inc s MTurk. The
full survey can be seen in Appendix 1. Responders are anonymous, however they are given a
unique identifier by Amazon which allows us to identify if any user has taken the survey more
than once. We used MTurk users with an approval rating of 85% or greater (meaning 85% of their

The Inspiration of Frida Kahlo Essay
Some people become artists for the pleasure, but others might have an ability to perceive art in a
deeper sense than what is being presented. Artists like Diego VelГ
Ўzquez, Michelangelo
Buonarroti, and Sandro Botticelli could actually see the essence of art which motivated them to
give the world a canvas of questionable knowledge. Later another artist emerged with the same
ability, FridaKahlo. She used her life as her canvas; allowed people to view the world from
behind the surrealistic doors. In addition, she was able to present self portraits in many forms, all
influenced by a tragic bus accident which led to a broken spine that affected her whole life.

Digital Image Analysis Of Eye Fundus Images
ABSTRACT: Digital image analysis of eye fundus images has several benefits than current
observer based techniques. The characteristic symptoms of different systemic diseases like
hypertension, glaucoma, diabetes and cardiovascular disorder etc. affects retinal vessels. Diseases
like diabetes show abnormalities and diameter changes in retinal bloodvessels. In hypertension
retinal blood vessels show dilatation and elongation of main arteries and veins. Arteriolar to venular
diameter ratio (AVR) express high blood pressure levels, diabetic retinopathy and retinopathy of
prematurity. Among other image processing operations the estimation of AVR requires vessel
segmentation, accurate vessel width measurement and arteryor veinclassification[1]. Hence the
identification of arteries is essential to detect eye diseases. The work has been done on automated
classification of retinal vessels and hence it is a challenging task. Nowadays for image analysis
graph based methods have been used which are useful for retinal vessel segmentation, retinal image
registration and retinal vessel classification[2]. The segmented vessels are analyzed using type of
intersection and then assigned artery or vein labels to each vessel segment. So the combination of
labels and intensity features decides final artery or vein class.

What Are The Misrepresentation Of African Americans
The media often paints a picture of certain groups that may not be accurate for example, African
Americans in the media are portrayed as criminals, drug addicts, or misogynist which also
includes African American women are viewed as abrasive and promiscuous. While there are
millions of responsible and respectable African Americans. They are not celebrated in the
media. What the community sees are instead are thing in movies and on TV. This changes the
general perception of African Americans and cause people to assume they are violent and are a

were rarely portrayed on screen and when they were portrayed in satirical ways, it was with
white actors in blackface. This is a great example of the misrepresentation of an entire
community by those in power. In February 1915, a movie was released called birth of a nation
which was based on Thomas Dixon Jr. novel the clansman. The film depicts the Ku Klux Klan as
heroes and the villains were portrayed by white actors in black face. The film was basically trying
to justify racismand imply that the white hooded, figures where protecting the white racebecause

Cask of Amontillado to increase the suspense by making obvious hints to Fortunato that he will

discrimination against gays: any business owner could now refuse to serve them simply by

unconstitutional under the supreme court but only after years of activist fighting them. We have

ate from the tree of knowledge, he cracked down on them. In The Fall from Genesis , God
punishes his people by multiplying [Woman] sorrow and thy conception... [Man] shall rule over
thee and Man shall in the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground .
These are the punishments God had given Man and Woman, now called Adam and Eve, for
eating from the tree of knowledge and learning about good and evil. Eve and all women will
have pain before and during conception and will be a vassal to Adam and all men. Adam and all
men will have to work for his food until the day he dies. Like some parents, God punished mankind
when they go astray. Parent discipline their children by taking away their stuff like their phone or
by grounding them. Also parent makes their children do chores around the

Non Verbal And Interpersonal Communication
Non Verbal and Interpersonal Communication
Introduction
Humans are very intelligent beings. We say one thing and mean another, most of the times at least.
While having a conversation, it is important that we asses, analyze and then respond to have a
meaningful conversation. This is true more so in the case where we are interacting with a lot of
cross cultural people.
Non verbal communication is nothing but body language in generic and facial expressions,
postures, gestures and interpersonal space in specific, to name a few.
Facial Expressions
Facial expressions are a part of non verbal communication. People can recognize other persons
emotions by reading facial expressions. In recent work, researchers define 21 distinct emotion ...

Eye contact is looking into people s eyes with mouth curve up and brows relaxed, while staring at
people is looking at people with brows wrinkled and lips tight. In fact, staring at people reveals
the signal of hatred that you never want to bring coworkers and customers. In addition, smile
with apples of the cheeks states truly delight. However, smiling while frowning is more or less
fake and it exhibits the feeling of being embarrassed. While talking with customer or answering
their questions, a person picks up ears and turns head to one side a little bit implies he or she is
patiently listening and serious about the conversation. Plus, as a professional staff, he or she doesn
t want to be indifferent to customers and thus snorting and crinkling nose up with mouth curve
down are definitely forbidden in business talks.
Finally, conversations between friends and families are more casual. In this case, people are
relaxed. They may not keep eye contact all the time but they prefer to use their multi facial
expressions to express plentiful emotions. For instance, smile, laugh and grin are three popular
expressions in casual conversation, they look like the same but they do vary. The corners of
mouth curve up present a smile. The mouth is opened a bit more and the voice is then heard,
which shows a laugh. Smiling broadly and showing teeth brings a grin. Facial expressions are a
crucial part of interpersonal communication, for it conveys various

Analysis Of James Wright s The Blues Essay
As Bryan Crable notes, Burke and Ellison had the closest intellectual and social relationship when
Burke was writing A Rhetoric of Motives and, I would add, when Ellison was writing Invisible
Man. Crable points out that the Rhetoric is the only one of Burke s books to cite Ellison, in large
part because Ellison s 1945 essay Richard Wright s Blues (which called Wright s just released
memoir Black Boy a nonwhite intellectual s statement of his relationship to western culture that
illuminates a conflicting pattern of identification and rejection Г la Joyce, Nehru, and
Dostoyevsky) had a major influence on Burke only one month into serious work on his now
canonical text ( Blues 263 64, Crable 47 48). The claim that the friendship was important for both
Burke and Ellison is certainly true, intervening in a longstanding scholarly conversation on the
Burkean influences apparent in Invisible Man (and other works of Ellison s) that paid little
attention to the ways in which Ellisonian ideas in fact inspired Burke s work as well. Even with
this helpful addition of Crable s, though, the scholarly consensus seems to suggest that Ellison
employed Burke s philosophies of literary form in his composition of Invisible Man, while Burke
developed his thoughts on the rhetorical dimensions of racebased on Ellison s insights about the
conflicts between individual identity and racial identity (Crable 47 48). All of this is correct, but its
understanding of the Burke Ellison

Healing Gardens Research Paper
Healing gardens have been with us for many years and people have been using the healing powers
of the earth, the sun, the fresh air, and the visually stimulating sights of nature to inspire and heal
their souls. Some of the common healing botanicals are herbs, vegetables, berries, fruits and nuts.
These botanicals are part of our daily dietary plans. To be amongst these healing plants while they
are growing enlightens relaxation and stimulates the sensory senses. The walking pathways
throughout the gardenare to be placed with thought and planning. The pathways like our veins
need to connect and have purpose. This allows the visitors to see and explore every single special

means the walk pathways must be made of earth stones to allow the earths energy into the space.

The Link Between Market Baseline And The Public Objectives
3.2 The link between the market baseline and the public objectives In some situations, countries
often provided a loan to specific enterprises or made some advantageous policies in order to achieve
public goals. Hence, some people questioned whether the public objectives should be taken into
consideration when the benefit analysis is operated. This question has raised great controversy.
Some people think that the determination of subsidies and the public objectives are two different
matters, while others argue that the public objectives should be taken into account. They further
declared that the government, which pursues public goals should be tested by public investor
standard, rather than the private investor standard. From the perspective of the author, the public
objectives should not be taken into account when the advantage analysis in the subsidylaw is
operated. A typical case which was not officially confirmed could provide us some inspirations.
3.21 The case US Lead and Bismuthв… in the context of GATT The case US Lead and

the benefit analysis and the public objectives. The US claimed that the EC subsidized its steel

consideration. In addition to the disagreement provided

Furthermore, in low involvement situations, the affect attached to the identity signs may be one of
the few elements that differentiates the offer (Hoyer e Brown, 1990; Leong, 1993). Previous
research suggests consumers evaluation of the organization s logo directly influences their
evaluation of the organization (Schechter, 1993; Stafford et al., 2004). The probability of affect
transfer depends on its nature (positive or negative), on the intensity of affective reactions and on
the way signs are associated to products and organisations. Several authors refer that the name and
logo should evoke the same intended set of associations, and communicate one clear message
(Durgee and Stuart, 1987; Keller 1993; Kopp et al., 1990; Vartorella, 1990). Semiotics literature
suggests that this meaning can be obtained through the analysis of the nuclear or consensual
meaning evoked by the logo (Perrussia, 1988). Previous research shows that identity signs which
elicit a shared set of associations are better liked, transfer more positive affect to the organisation,
and are better recognized than signs with an ambiguous meaning (Henderson and Cote, 1998;
Schecter, 1993). Finally, the less ambiguous the organization s identity signs, the more likely its

Huckleberry Finn, Twain develops the plot into Huck and Jim s adventures allowing him to

injustice and both are distrustful of the civilization around them. Huck is considered an
uneducated backward boy, constantly under pressure to conform to the humanized surroundings

The widow Douglas adopted and tried to civilize Huck. The two sisters , one redeeming quality
is their concern for Huck, which, though it possesses moralistic overtones, includes an element
of sincerity, giving them some patience in dealing with the uncivilized Huck. Other than this,
the sisters role is to represent the artificial, empty civilization to which Huck rejects. As much as
the widow Douglass tries to adopt conventional religion upon Huck, he continues to reject it.
Before every meal the widow told Huck he had to say grace. Huck referred to this as having to
grumble over the food before they could eat it (14). She tried to teach him about Moses, until
Huck found out Moses was dead and lost interest. The comments made by Huck clearly show

which was no kin to her, and no use to anybody, being gone, yet finding fault with me for doing a
thing that had some good in it. And she took snuff too; of course that was all right, she done it
herself (15). Huck shows his anger and dislike for the values that were constantly placed on him
by the Widow Douglas and her sister, Miss Watson. They both try to socialize Huck into a good
boy. Huck was going stir crazy, made especially restless by the sisters constant reminders to

All My Sons Research Paper
On September 1, 1939 Hitler invaded Poland which caused one of the worst wars ever known to
man. This war is known as World War Two. Many men who were born in 1923 in the Soviet
Union, lost their lives during the battle. Since most of the men left to fight, the women stayed
behind and took care of the factories and their homes. In a play called All My Sonsby Arthur Miller,
he wrote about the struggles of a family who was greatly affected by the war.
One key member of the Keller family was Joe Keller. Joe and his business partner Steve Deever
owned a factory that sold cylinder heads to the military during the war. Unfortunately, not all of
these cylinders were flawless, and several faulty ones were sold to the military. As a result of the

Introduction Humans have two distinct types of muscle, type I and type II. Type I is considered
slow, oxidative, and is used more commonly for endurance activities. Type II is considered fast,
glycolytic and even oxidative, but it is used more for sprint related activities. In addition,
phosphorylase, lactic dehydrogenase (LDH), and succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) are skeletal
muscleenzymes along with myosin ATP, NADII2, tetrazolium reducatse, and alpha
gycerophosphate dehydrogenase help determine the muscle types based on these measurements.
Purpose of the Study
The purpose of the study is to measure the amount of these skeletal muscle enzymes and muscle
fiber composition of track and field athletes compared to untrained subjects.
Methods The experiment consists of testing maximum VO2 uptake for the subjects to measure
their caliber of training, whether the subjects had no training for a few years or those who have
been participating in intense exercise. Also, each subject had a muscle sample of his or her
gastrocnemius (lateral head) taken by a needle biopsy technique.
a)Subjects: The experiment consisted of 34 men and 27 women and were measured in which 23 of
the men and 17 of the women were highly trained, internationally competitive track athletes. Within
the track and field athlete category, this consisted of sprint runners, middle distance runners,
distance runners, long high jumpers, javelin throwers, and shot put/discus throwers. These track

The root cause of MGI s process problems are a lack of direction and clear personal
responsibilities. When looking at the team meetings it is very clear that there was little organization

members were more interested in validating their ideas on what to do to others rather than

Additionally, Alexander would prove to be helpful in both the business aspect and music portions
of the project. As a whole the team looked exceptionally strong based on their experiences and
varying degrees of education in their fields. The different personalities posed a critical issue with
the team but would eventually be addressed in future meetings.
Were the differences among the team members a liability or an asset?
As in every team there will be differences of opinion and therefore stress in the working group.
During this case study we saw the largest differences between Sasha and the HBS Business Plan
Team. The team was excited about competing in the contest not only for the experience but to
practice their skills for future business opportunities as well. In this sense not only were the
differences between the musicians and the HBS students an asset, it was their differences that led
the musicians to seek out the HBS students in the first place. Tension between Dana, Henry, and
the Russians was seen in the following meetings when Sasha felt his material was ignored. In that
sense their differences were a major liability. Dana and Henry were also getting annoyed by the
fact that they were doing the majority of the work even when they had other things to do. As time

The Disappearance Of The Roanoke Island Colony
America s past is a mysterious one, riddled with unsolved questions and misleading legends. One of
the most prominent enigmas that has haunted historians for centuries is the disappearance of the
Roanoke Island Colony, also known to many as The Lost Colony.
After leaving for three years, the governor of Roanoke Island, John White, returned to find the
settlement abandon. The only remaining clue was the word CROATOAN carved into a fence post
and the letters CRO etched into a nearby tree. Several diverse theories have been suggested to
explain the disappearance of the 120 missing colonist, ranging from disease to natural disaster.
Any evidence supporting the various theories is weak, at best. However, the clues left behind point
to the assimilation theory which proposes the colonists integrated with the natives, as the Croatoan
had been a friendly Native American tribe in the area. Furthermore, the majority of new facts and
the strongest evidence support the assimilation theory as well. Other common theories have
numerous flaws in their logic that make them highly improbable. It is because the only sign the
colony left behind indicates assimilation, any new or outside evidence discovered also serves to
further prove assimilation, and all other theories suffer major inaccuracies that assimilation is the
most probable theory.
The Lost Colony was the first of England s new world colonies, meant to be both a permanent
settlement and the location of a fortress. England s

A Lesson Of Oppression By Nella Larsen
A Lesson in Oppression From the beginning of time and around the world, women have been
subjected to patriarchal oppression in various forms. From economic hardships such as wage gaps
or an inability to own property, to social mores such as submission in marriage and sexual
objectification, women are systematically treated as second class citizens without a voice. African
Americanwomen have faced these gendered challenges in addition to racial discrimination in the
forms of slavery, unfair taxation, red lining, unequal access to education and derogatory media
representation to name a few. Passing by Nella Larsenportrays two African American women as
main characters who experience racial and gender oppression in various ways. Webster s
Dictionary defines oppression as: the state of being subject to unjust treatment or control,
prolonged cruel or unjust treatment or control; mental pressure or distress. Larsen s story delves
into social and feminist issues of oppression such as loss of identity, oppressiveness of marriage,
women s independence relating to women s lack of independence, the importance of marriage in
society, how raceand class function in society, and how relationships are dictated by race, class, and
gender.
Many of the issues explored in the story were likely experiences by the author herself. Similar to
the main character Irene, Nella Larsen was an African American of mixed descent from Chicago,
who lived in New York, and was married to a

Sql Injection And Prevention Techniques
SQL INJECTION AND PREVENTION TECHNIQUES
Abstract
SQL Injection is one of the main database attack mechanisms used by hackers to loot organization
s data from databases. Hacker target the application layer program and takes advantage of the
improper coding methods to inject SQL command into a web form and then gain access to the
database. SQL injection may adversely affect the integrity of the database and may reveal sensitive
data of the organization. The intensity of the SQL injection attack vary depend on the capabilities
of the backend database in use. With the help of SQL injection hacker can change existing
queries, attach additional queries, read in or write to file or execute operating system command
from the database. To protect organization data from SQL injection we need to apply security
measures in the application layer and in the database layer. The purpose of this study is to analyze
the database functionalities/security holes, mainly Oracle and MySQL, and propose the preventive
measures database developers need to consider in the database layer while working with these
databases to secure data from SQL injection.

Synovial Joints
Synovial joints, also known as diarthroidal joints, are the most common and movable type in the
body. The presence of lubricating synovial fluid encapsulated by joint ligaments distinguishes this
type of joint from others within the body90. OA most commonly occurs within the weight bearing
synovial jointsincluding the hip and the knee, which is why obesity is such a major risk factor of
OA4. The synovial jointcan be broken down into four major components: articular cartilage,
synovium, joint cavity filled with synovial fluid, and joint capsule ligament (Figure 1a) 60,115.
Ultimately, articular cartilage and the synovial fluid are the main constituents that contribute to the
proper lubrication properties of healthy and OA synovial joints.

Overall, articular cartilage is a very dense structure, lacking blood vessels and nerves that are found
in other tissues77. Chondrocytes are the cell types embedded within cartilage, and produce the
structural proteins that form the ECM. The major components of the ECM are water, type II
collagens, proteoglycans, aggrecan, and noncollagenous proteins such as fibronectins115,22. The
resulting osmotic pressure created within the wet and dry components of the ECM work in
harmony to support the mechanical forces applied to cartilage77. The water is retained in the ECM
by aggrecan, the primary structural proteoglycan which is based on a long hyaluronic acid
backbone with highly charged glycosaminoglycan (GAG) side chains, such as chondroitin sulfate
(CS) and keratin sulfate (KS)26. Altogether, these components are what create the depth dependent
layers of cartilage: the superficial zone, the middle zone, the deep zone, and the calcified zone

  • 2. Example Of An Outsider Research Paper Many people describe themselves as Outsiders without knowing what one is, know you can ask yourself, are you an outsider ? Outsiders are people who are misunderstood. This can mean multiple things. For Example, not being understood by your peers, not being heard the way you want to be heard, and not being in the right situation but being in that situation. There are many scenarios were one is misunderstood and therefore being labeled as an Outsider. For example in Metamorphosis Gregor tried being understood by his family but as a bug it was hard for him. Following that in benjamin franklin s story, he was misunderstood and was thought up as weird which made him an outsider. In the Metamorphosis, Gregor, went through this transformation into ... • 3. The Monkey s Paw And The Third Wish Be careful what you wish for. This is a common quote that most people hear many times throughout their lives. The two short stories The Monkey s Paw and The Third Wish demonstrate this quote by showing most wishes often come with unexpected consequences. These two stories are very much alike and share many similarities in both their moods, and motifs. There are many similarities between the two short stories The Third Wish and The Monkey s Paw . One major similarity they share is their overall mood. The mood both stories share is the feeling of mystery. Mystery is shown in The Monkey,s Paw when the Sergeant major first told the White family about the monkey s paw, and it s magical powers. The author writes monkeys paw? Said mrs. White curiously. Well, it s just a bit of what you might call magic, perhaps said the sergeant major offhandedly . This quote shows the mystery in The Monkey s Paw because to most people magic is quite a big mystery. Some people believe it is real and some do not. Others don t know what to believe because magic is not a thing that you can see, or prove to be real. Mystery can also be felt in the mood of The Third Wish . A good example of when mystery is displayed is at the very beginning of the story. mr. Peters had just gotten out of his car and was starting to search for the unknown creature that was making distressed sounds He stood a moment waiting to try and discover where the noise was coming from, ... • 4. Allegories In Dante Alighieri About everything in life has a deeper meaning and it can be found with just a touch of creativity. But the ability to construct the meaning into literature takes so much more talent. That s where the average authors get weeded out from the great. Dante Alighieri is one of these great authors and it shows in his writing. He uses an abundance of allegories throughout his books making the reader overthink every word. In his book Inferno, Dante Alighieridescriptively crafts three allegories of Francesca, the city of Florence, and Dante s journey to incorporate hidden symbolism and meaning submerged underneath the cover story of Dante s version of Hell. Every once in a while it s necessary to take a step back, evaluate your life, and look at the bigger picture, which is what Dante did when he toured Hell. Dante Alighieri makes it obvious that Florence is Dante s Hell on earth by the way he incorporates all the negativity. Dante Alighieri s description of Florence leaves the readers to believe the city is in political ruins. There are so many sinners living there and Dante shows this when he says, But tell me, if you can, where they ll all end,/ the citizens of that divided town?/ Is there amongst them any honest man? (Alighieri 51) to paint a picture of how he views Florence. The beginning of the quote allows the readers to interpret that Dante doesn t have much confidence that they will go to heaven, rather he suggests that because of this indecisiveness that they will later be found in Hell. He used the word divided to show that there is a big controversy, which split the city of Florence, as he explains in the quote. The second sentence flat out states that he doesn t believe that there is a single honest man left and this is shown because of how he punctuates the end of the sentence with a question mark. This proves that Dante considers Florence as Hell because of all the sinners there. If he doesn t think he could find a single innocent person there, then it is basically equivalent to Hell, which Dante doesn t want to live in. All the depreciation of Florence shows that Dante doesn t want to live there and considers the city the trail that s directly feeding sinners to Hell. Everyone commits sins ... • 5. Everybody Loves Raymond Tv Show Analysis After watching both TV Sitcoms, Everybody loves Raymond and Modern Family , there is a lot of differences and similarities to analyze, comparing both on styles and production. First, Everybody loves Raymond is an American TV series show in the sitcom genre, created by Philip Rosenthal and aired on CBS since 1996. When I was watching it, I noticed that their settings were practically similar to ВЁModern FamilyВЁ, showing both sites in a family house. For example, both TV shows started with an establishing show. It is showing basically an overview of the location on where the scene will take place. The director used different settings in the house, like for example, in the bedroom, kitchen, living and dining room. The lighting in ВЁEverybody... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Indeed, this is like that because the creators Christopher Lloyd Steven Levitan, made this TV sitcom particularly in a Mockumentary style or (docu comedy style, in which means that they present the events in a documentary style just to create comedy. Modern Family have that particular style of using more camera movements than the show of Everybody loves Raymond , that is more static. This dramatically movements of the camera makes the show seems like in a face pace running all the time. They do faster close ups, zooms in/ out, tilting up/ down, and they do faster movements of panning left/ right, to follow the conversation of the actors, which is totally different from the other show. Another differences on both shows is that in ВЁModern FamilyВЁ they have that particular style when you see the actors talking directly to the camera, like they are having a conversation to someone, or just maybe pretending they are talking to themselves. However, we don t see this in ВЁEverybody loves RaymondВЁ but there is because they are acting to follow the story of the family but in that particular way of the viewer listening to the live audience laughing after something funny ... • 6. Legalization of All Drugs Essay Legalization of All Drugs Legalize Drugs! I know what you re thinking, are you crazy! The debate over the legalization of drugs continues to disturb the American public. Such an issue stirs up moral and religious beliefs, beliefs that are contrary to what Americans should believe. I ask all of you to please keep an open mind and hear me out on this very controversial subject. All of us have in some way or another been affected by drug, whether it is a family member or the economic burden on society. Americans often take at face value the assumptions that drugs cause addiction, which leads to crime. This is true but abundant evidence exists to support the view that legalizing illicit drugs can help solve the drug problem in America. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why would an inner city youth degrade themselves by working for five dollars an hour at McDonalds? While some of his peers are standing on a corner, selling drugs for a couple of hundred dollars an hour. So you risk going to jail. Unfortunately jail for some people is better than living in the conditions, which they live in now. The slick young pushers are the new role models for today s youth. They are wearing designer clothes and are driving the new $50,000 cars. They are being seen everyday with a smug smile that tells the younger children that drugs pay. One way to combat the problem is to go after the pusher: arrest them and toss them in jail. This is the approach we use today but it is not an effective one. This is because people will do anything and use all their intellect to avoid arrest. A lot of Americans have sufficient talent to get away with illegal crimes. As we attempt to crack down on the violence and drug trafficking, we find that our justice and prison systems are ill equipped to handle the problem to the magnitude as we see now. Who is going to pay the billions of dollars required to build the prisons, hire the judges, train the police men for the load already on hand, let alone the huge one yet to come if we ever get serous about arresting dealers and the users. There has got to be a better way. Every day, police officers face ruthless drug dealers, who would rather shoot an office than spend twenty five ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Negative View of Society in Wilfred Owen s Poetry Essay Dulce et Decorum est and Anthem for Doomed Youth are both written by Wilfred Owen, and both are written to show the war [World War I] and the pity of war . Owen does this by regaling very sad and often shocking poems that I believe are very effective in delivering their purpose. Both poems present negative views of society through tone and metaphors and Dulce et Decorum est also uses similes. A poem that presents a negative view on society is Dulce et Decorum est. It is a satirical poem about the old Latin saying it is entitled after. Through this poem Owen is trying to tell us that this old saying is a lie, and that war is much less glorious than many adults make it out to be. From the very first line Bent double, like old beggars ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The metaphors the blood come gargling from the froth corrupted lungs and vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues have the same effect as the similes through their unpleasant words; they are there to shock you, and they are so haunting that they amplify the effect of the satirical ending Dulce et Decorum est pro patria mori. , which means it is sweet and fitting to die for your country . Owen presents society negatively through this poem because in the poem we see that adults are lying to young men in order to get them to go to war, for example by using the saying Dulce et Decorum est Pro patria mori . By showing us how gruesome the war is, and then by explaining to us that the adults are telling children that it is sweet and fitting to die for your country, Owen is trying to show how society is almost tricking teenagers into wanting to go fight in the war. This obviously presents a negative view on society, but it serves Owen s purpose of wanting to show the pity of war. Another poem which presents a negative view on society is Anthem for Doomed Youth. It is written as an extended metaphor for a soldier s funeral rites during World War I. In this poem Owen reminds the reader that every one of the millions who died in the war was an individual, and each death brought with it immeasurable sadness and loss. It is written in two stanzas and first ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. True Grit And Ray From Charles Portis s The Dog Of The... When someone is devoted in life, they can most likely achieve their all time life goals. Mattie Ross from Charles Portis s True Grit and Ray from Charles Portis s The dog of the south show devotion throughout their novels: obsession showing devotion, revenge showing devotion, and bravery leading to devotion. Throughout True GritMattie is shown to be obsessive, which is shown through her devotion throughout the novel. That is my father. I stood there looking at him. What a waste! Tom Chaney! Would pay for this! I would not rest easy until that Louisiana cur was roasting and screaming in hell (24). Mattie ultimately is enraged at the fact a drunken coward kills her father, She set s out to find her father s killer, since she has an obsession over her father s death. Another piece of evidence from the text that shows this is when, a Sheriff tells Mattie about the toughest U.S Marshall, The meanest one is Rooster Cogburn. He is a pitless man, double tough, and fear don t enter into his thinking. He loves to pull cork. Now L.T Quinn, he brings his prisoners alive... He will not plant evidence or abuse a prisoner. He is a straight as a string (37). The Sheriff in this quote has just answered Mattie s question on to where she could find one of the toughest U.S Marshall s to track down her father s killer, she then becomes obsessed with this man, and it become one of her goals to set out and find him. • 9. The Use of Symbols in John Steinbeck s The Chrysanthemums In John Steinbeck s short story, The Chrysanthemums, he uses the flower to symbolize his main character s thoughts and ideas. • 10. Paradise Lost And Antigone Comparison To educate a man in mind and not in morals is to educate a menace to society. (Roosevelt). Since the beginning of time societies have existed, thriving among mankind. Societies dictate norms and regulations for the people living within them by establishing a status quo. Since the status quo exists, a large majority of people alter their actions and words they do and say to fit the societal norm, the status quo in order to seem normal . As common as a status quo is to societies, so is the reality of a rebel: someone who goes against the status quo, such as Antigone. Societies also have people who overly conform, in turn suffering negative consequences, such as Eve. If a comparison of both works (Antigone and Paradise Lost) are taken, it will remain obvious that Antigone materializes as a stronger, more self independent character who is against the societal norms, whereas Eve lacks enough inner strength and willpower to avoid conforming to the origin of the negativity of social norms. In general, society is not an evil device to have a part in, rather, it is completely normal. If an individual lives in a community, neighborhood, city, town, village, etc., they belong in a society. Societies provide chaos management ; they keep people supposedly in line and provide rules. Rules are not wicked, but sometimes certain rules may go against the morals of a person, making the rules a negative aspect of society. This transforms the relationship of an individual existing in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The characteristic symptoms of different systemic diseases like hypertension, glaucoma, diabetes and cardiovascular disorder etc. affects retinal vessels. Diseases like diabetes show abnormalities and diameter changes in retinal bloodvessels. In hypertension retinal blood vessels show dilatation and elongation of main arteries and veins. Arteriolar to venular diameter ratio (AVR) express high blood pressure levels, diabetic retinopathy and retinopathy of prematurity. Among other image processing operations the estimation of AVR requires vessel segmentation, accurate vessel width measurement and arteryor veinclassification[1]. Hence the identification of arteries is essential to detect eye diseases. The work has been done on automated classification of retinal vessels and hence it is a challenging task. Nowadays for image analysis graph based methods have been used which are useful for retinal vessel segmentation, retinal image registration and retinal vessel classification[2]. The segmented vessels are analyzed using type of intersection and then assigned artery or vein labels to each vessel segment. Analysis Of James Wright s The Blues Essay As Bryan Crable notes, Burke and Ellison had the closest intellectual and social relationship when Burke was writing A Rhetoric of Motives and, I would add, when Ellison was writing Invisible Man. Crable points out that the Rhetoric is the only one of Burke s books to cite Ellison, in large part because Ellison s 1945 essay Richard Wright s Blues (which called Wright s just released memoir Black Boy a nonwhite intellectual s statement of his relationship to western culture that illuminates a conflicting pattern of identification and rejection Г la Joyce, Nehru, and Dostoyevsky) had a major influence on Burke only one month into serious work on his now canonical text ( Blues 263 64, Crable 47 48). The claim that the friendship was important for both Burke and Ellison is certainly true, intervening in a longstanding scholarly conversation on the Burkean influences apparent in Invisible Man (and other works of Ellison s) that paid little attention to the ways in which Ellisonian ideas in fact inspired Burke s work as well. Even with this helpful addition of Crable s, though, the scholarly consensus seems to suggest that Ellison employed Burke s philosophies of literary form in his composition of Invisible Man, while Burke developed his thoughts on the rhetorical dimensions of racebased on Ellison s insights about the conflicts between individual identity and racial identity (Crable 47 48). Previous research suggests consumers evaluation of the organization s logo directly influences their evaluation of the organization (Schechter, 1993; Stafford et al., 2004). The probability of affect transfer depends on its nature (positive or negative), on the intensity of affective reactions and on the way signs are associated to products and organisations. Several authors refer that the name and logo should evoke the same intended set of associations, and communicate one clear message (Durgee and Stuart, 1987; Keller 1993; Kopp et al., 1990; Vartorella, 1990). Semiotics literature suggests that this meaning can be obtained through the analysis of the nuclear or consensual meaning evoked by the logo (Perrussia, 1988). In September of 2014, the company Home Depot was hacked. Home Depot hackers were able to access more than 56 million credit and debit cards and over 53 million email addresses. According to Michael Winter of USA Today, Hackers used a vendor s stolen log on credentials to penetrate Home Depot s computer network and install custom built malware that stole customer payment card data and e mail addresses (Winter). Routinely, hacker s use the log on credentials of a vendor and install malware. The same issue happened to Target when their system was hacked. Since September of 2014, Home Depot has spent more than $62 million fixing their systems and offering one year of credit monitoring services to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. How Does The Amount Of These Muscle Enzymes And Muscle... Introduction Humans have two distinct types of muscle, type I and type II. Type I is considered slow, oxidative, and is used more commonly for endurance activities. Type II is considered fast, glycolytic and even oxidative, but it is used more for sprint related activities. In addition, phosphorylase, lactic dehydrogenase (LDH), and succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) are skeletal muscleenzymes along with myosin ATP, NADII2, tetrazolium reducatse, and alpha gycerophosphate dehydrogenase help determine the muscle types based on these measurements. Purpose of the Study The purpose of the study is to measure the amount of these skeletal muscle enzymes and muscle fiber composition of track and field athletes compared to untrained subjects. Methods The experiment consists of testing maximum VO2 uptake for the subjects to measure their caliber of training, whether the subjects had no training for a few years or those who have been participating in intense exercise. Also, each subject had a muscle sample of his or her gastrocnemius (lateral head) taken by a needle biopsy technique. a)Subjects: The experiment consisted of 34 men and 27 women and were measured in which 23 of the men and 17 of the women were highly trained, internationally competitive track athletes. • 32. Henry Tam Case Study What is your evaluation of MGI s team processes? What were the root causes of the team s process problems? The root cause of MGI s process problems are a lack of direction and clear personal responsibilities. When looking at the team meetings it is very clear that there was little organization to their efforts. It also seemed as though there was not sufficient purpose to the team s efforts. Many members were more interested in validating their ideas on what to do to others rather than exchanging ideas or creating an open environment. Quiet often there would be time spent on one topic, then another, then more and more without resolving the first topic. Additionally, Alexander would prove to be helpful in both the business aspect and music portions of the project. As a whole the team looked exceptionally strong based on their experiences and varying degrees of education in their fields. The different personalities posed a critical issue with the team but would eventually be addressed in future meetings. Were the differences among the team members a liability or an asset? As in every team there will be differences of opinion and therefore stress in the working group. During this case study we saw the largest differences between Sasha and the HBS Business Plan Team. The team was excited about competing in the contest not only for the experience but to practice their skills for future business opportunities as well. In this sense not only were the differences between the musicians and the HBS students an asset, it was their differences that led the musicians to seek out the HBS students in the first place. Tension between Dana, Henry, and the Russians was seen in the following meetings when Sasha felt his material was ignored. In that sense their differences were a major liability. Dana and Henry were also getting annoyed by the fact that they were doing the majority of the work even when they had other things to do. As time went on they learned how to operate better and became more aware of how to look past ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. The Disappearance Of The Roanoke Island Colony America s past is a mysterious one, riddled with unsolved questions and misleading legends. One of the most prominent enigmas that has haunted historians for centuries is the disappearance of the Roanoke Island Colony, also known to many as The Lost Colony. After leaving for three years, the governor of Roanoke Island, John White, returned to find the settlement abandon. The only remaining clue was the word CROATOAN carved into a fence post and the letters CRO etched into a nearby tree. Several diverse theories have been suggested to explain the disappearance of the 120 missing colonist, ranging from disease to natural disaster. Any evidence supporting the various theories is weak, at best. However, the clues left behind point to the assimilation theory which proposes the colonists integrated with the natives, as the Croatoan had been a friendly Native American tribe in the area. Furthermore, the majority of new facts and the strongest evidence support the assimilation theory as well. Other common theories have numerous flaws in their logic that make them highly improbable. It is because the only sign the colony left behind indicates assimilation, any new or outside evidence discovered also serves to further prove assimilation, and all other theories suffer major inaccuracies that assimilation is the most probable theory. The Lost Colony was the first of England s new world colonies, meant to be both a permanent settlement and the location of a fortress. England s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. A Lesson Of Oppression By Nella Larsen A Lesson in Oppression From the beginning of time and around the world, women have been subjected to patriarchal oppression in various forms. From economic hardships such as wage gaps or an inability to own property, to social mores such as submission in marriage and sexual objectification, women are systematically treated as second class citizens without a voice. African Americanwomen have faced these gendered challenges in addition to racial discrimination in the forms of slavery, unfair taxation, red lining, unequal access to education and derogatory media representation to name a few. Passing by Nella Larsenportrays two African American women as main characters who experience racial and gender oppression in various ways. Webster s Dictionary defines oppression as: the state of being subject to unjust treatment or control, prolonged cruel or unjust treatment or control; mental pressure or distress. Larsen s story delves into social and feminist issues of oppression such as loss of identity, oppressiveness of marriage, women s independence relating to women s lack of independence, the importance of marriage in society, how raceand class function in society, and how relationships are dictated by race, class, and gender. • 39. Sql Injection And Prevention Techniques SQL INJECTION AND PREVENTION TECHNIQUES Abstract SQL Injection is one of the main database attack mechanisms used by hackers to loot organization s data from databases. Hacker target the application layer program and takes advantage of the improper coding methods to inject SQL command into a web form and then gain access to the database. SQL injection may adversely affect the integrity of the database and may reveal sensitive data of the organization. The intensity of the SQL injection attack vary depend on the capabilities of the backend database in use. With the help of SQL injection hacker can change existing queries, attach additional queries, read in or write to file or execute operating system command from the database. To protect organization data from SQL injection we need to apply security measures in the application layer and in the database layer. The purpose of this study is to analyze the database functionalities/security holes, mainly Oracle and MySQL, and propose the preventive measures database developers need to consider in the database layer while working with these databases to secure data from SQL injection. • 41. Synovial Joints Synovial joints, also known as diarthroidal joints, are the most common and movable type in the body. The presence of lubricating synovial fluid encapsulated by joint ligaments distinguishes this type of joint from others within the body90. OA most commonly occurs within the weight bearing synovial jointsincluding the hip and the knee, which is why obesity is such a major risk factor of OA4. The synovial jointcan be broken down into four major components: articular cartilage, synovium, joint cavity filled with synovial fluid, and joint capsule ligament (Figure 1a) 60,115. Ultimately, articular cartilage and the synovial fluid are the main constituents that contribute to the proper lubrication properties of healthy and OA synovial joints. 3.1.1. Articular Cartilage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Overall, articular cartilage is a very dense structure, lacking blood vessels and nerves that are found in other tissues77. Chondrocytes are the cell types embedded within cartilage, and produce the structural proteins that form the ECM. The major components of the ECM are water, type II collagens, proteoglycans, aggrecan, and noncollagenous proteins such as fibronectins115,22. The resulting osmotic pressure created within the wet and dry components of the ECM work in harmony to support the mechanical forces applied to cartilage77. The water is retained in the ECM by aggrecan, the primary structural proteoglycan which is based on a long hyaluronic acid backbone with highly charged glycosaminoglycan (GAG) side chains, such as chondroitin sulfate (CS) and keratin sulfate (KS)26. Altogether, these components are what create the depth dependent layers of cartilage: the superficial zone, the middle zone, the deep zone, and the calcified zone (Figure ...
