The Theme Of Restorative Justice In The Kite Runner
Restorative justice, a key factor in today s society that allows us to function in a orderly way can be
portrayed in many ways such as the loyalty towards one friend or the redemption from despair and
pain.In the story The Kite Runner restorative justice is the leading factor in the role of the main
character Amir and is quest of redemption. Restorative Justice itself can only be achieved through
hard work along with the willingness to change and because of this I feel as though the movie (The
Kite Runner) had less of an impact showing the struggle of redeeming oneself unlike the actual
book. This being said having the opportunity to watch the film and read the book both greatly impacted
how I now view restorative justice. It made the theme of redemption being something you only
achieve with hard work and willingness to change oneself clear to me as the reader.
Now, likewise to what I said earlier watching the movie and reading the book did in fact make the
theme clear to me. The movie, to a certain extent showed how redeeming oneself requires hard work
and effort. This can be shown in the scene where Amir literally had to fight in order to take Sohrab
from Asself. In addition this can be read in the book when Amir says My memory of the fight with
Assef is amazingly vivid in stretches... .In like manner, both adaptations of the story showed how
change is necessary for redemption such as how Amir told Soraya of his wrong doing that happened
so many years ago. This

The Law Of Comparative Advantage
RICARDO proved in 1817 that when every countries specialized in the element where they have the
comparative advantage, and then trades those element, all countries are better off. This theory called
the law of comparative advantage became the primary reason for international trade. Now a days
MNC are the primary actors of international trade, and the bargaining model that they use with
countries government can appear as a practical implementation of the law of comparative advantage.
In fact Dunning, J. H. (2000) estimate that competitive advantage which is a type of comparative
advantage is at the heart of company motivation and ability to operate internationally as an MNC.
Besides Ramamurti, R. (2001) suggest that the traditional bargaining model is based on comparative
advantage that the MNC and state have respectively. The bargaining process would then be the
decision process through which each party express which comparative advantage would be traded.
The MNC can for example trade its technology for the accesses to natural resource that the countries
government possess. Ramamurti (2001) also emphasize the point that it became obvious that the
previous process is only a part of the actual bargain and that another part of the bargain is operated at a
countries level (between host and home country), this step actually allow and favors international
trade between those countries, but at the hour of the liberalization the actual trade would be conducted
by MNC. As an example

What Are Gender Roles In The Importance Of Being Earnest
The Importance of Being Earnest is one of Oscar Wilde s crowning masterpieces. The acclaimed
comedic play tells the tale of Jack Worthing and the mischief he causes when he and his best friend,
Algernon Moncrieff, assume double identities. When analyzing the play from various critical
perspectives, the reader can divulge into the various historical roots and gender roles that the author
uses to promote his message and criticize the Victorian upper class.
Evaluating the play from a historical critical perspective offers a retrospective look into the various
references the play makes to Victorian England. The Victorian Era of England is typically defined as
the period in which Queen Victoria reigned as monarch. The Victorian period ... Show more content

Perhaps the most overarching gender roles throughout the play are those associated with courting.
Both Gwendolyn and Cecily are convinced that they could not be with someone who s name isn t
Ernest. Gwendolyn tells Jack this in Act I. I have known several Jacks, and they all, without
exception, were more than usually plain. The only really safe name is Ernest (Wilde 20). Cecily again
reiterates a similar message to Algernon in Act III. You must not laugh at me, darling, but it had
always been a girlish dream of mine to love someone whose name was Ernest. There is something in
that name that seems to inspire absolute confidence. I pity any poor married woman whose husband is
not called Ernest (Wilde 61). Both Gwendolyn and Cecily are convinced that Ernest is the optimal
name for a partner due in large part to the qualities that society perceives from it. It is in this aspect of
their attractiveness to the name that both characters reflect the gender roles of courting to satisfy
society rather than themselves. They both like the name Ernest not because they themselves enjoy it
but rather because they enjoy how society interprets it and how it makes them look. Men and women
searched for an ideal relationship based on the expectations of a demanding society. If a man or
woman did not possess the qualities desired by the Victorian society, the opposite sex may have
dismissed the person as an unsuitable mate (Appell). Both men and women were expected to court
those who fit society s expectations, not their own, and this gender role is present in the play. Another
gender stereotype present is patriarchal authority and superiority. Throughout the Victorian Era, men
were valued more than women. The man was the head of the household and their word was final. This
is very much present throughout much of the

Driving Prosability
With the U.S. having the second largest passenger car market in the world, a total of 6,872,729 cars
sold in 2016(OICA, 2017), it is no wonder that we rank 19th worst on the traffic index. The countries
that rank the best on the index are all from europe(Numbeo,2017). So what is it that europe is getting
correct about traffic? It boils down to 3 major items, roundabouts and sharedspaces, strict following to
regulation and, public roads without speed limits.
The implementation of all these solutions would have to start at a basic level, the driver. Obtaining a
driver s licence in europe is a much more demanding task then in America. For instance most
european countries require an extensive driving course or class where you have to ... Show more

We already have speed limits, a requirement for the use of a turn signal, and by Florida law the far left
lane should only be utilized for overtaking(Fl DOT, 2017). From their the enforcement would become
strict and the speed limits of roads, that were determined to be safe, could increase or be unrestricted.
As previously stated, typically, most europeans follow the law closely. The laws of the Autobahn are
not as free as many Americans think. First of all, the Autobahn is every highway in Germany, and not
all of them are unrestricted in regard to speed. The majority of the Autobahn follows a speed limit
between 100 and 120 kilometer per hour (approximately 60 75 mile per hour)(BASt, 2015). One of
the unique aspects of the unrestricted sections are advisory speed limits and temporary speed limits.
Temporary speed limits are an ideal that many other countries should adopt. In essence when the
posted speed limit does not apply to the current conditions of the road, the government can change it.
An example of a temporary speed limit in use would be unfavorable weather conditions such as snow,
ice or rain on the road. These reduce the allowed speed of drivers to keep them safe. Another example
is during road work or construction the speed limit can be lowered to keep workers on the road safer.
Sections of road with adjustable speed limits make sure that drivers do not exceed what is safe in bad
condition but also doesn t hold people back in favorable

The Fight Scene Analysis
The first section is a representation of when the meeting of Collin and Nancy occurred in the diary. I
choose to represent this by scattering around music notes on all sides since it was sort of like a rock
concert .The uneven colorful patches all around them stands for the commotion and mix up after the
rednecks came in . This is one of the factors that cause her to have an asthma attack and he calms her
down and grabs her tightly . I drew her with her hand on him to show her being calmed down. He
makes her feel safe , this is why I drew them close .As her aunt does not come to pick her up ,she sobs
and he again comforts her closely . The bright color represents her enthusiasm for meeting such an
interesting guy to talk to . Almost like a brother . This scene is important because it is the start of her
so thought love which leads to her tragedy .It also shows how he portrays a fake image ... Show more

I Choose to represent this by drawing two hands wine wine in them. This shows the alcohol involved
in this part. I also drew fire flames . This is to emphases the risky provocative situation in which she
was in . She was all by herself and he was getting more touchy with there .The main color in my
flames is red , this is to represent the color of passion which is what goes on as he grabs her . As my
main background , I used black, this is to show the time of day for this event , past midnight . The
word NO is in print capital letters this is to to show her disapproval when he rapes her . She states
reasons and says No. Still his response was the same there was no answer he just did it and left. All
these elements are needed because this scene is so purposeful . Its purposeful because it shows how a
simple house alone date turned into a risky behavioral situation. This really demonstrates how her
voice was ignored and Collin decided to have sex with her despite her

Sources of Mercury and Health Effect
Sources of Mercury and Health Effect
Mercury is a naturally occurring element found in the earth s crust that can be found as the elemental
or metallic mercury or in many organic and inorganic compounds. Mercury is a metal that when at
room temperature is a silvery liquid metal and is often called one of the heavy metals. Mercury can
evaporate like water, and become airborne. It is an element that does not break down into a less toxic
substance. Once mercury escapes into the environment it will continue to circulate in and out of the
atmosphere until it ends up at the bottoms of lakes and oceans. It cannot be created or destroyed
(UWM, 2004). The most common or leading source of mercury in the environment is atmospheric
deposition. Once mercury has reached the atmosphere it can circulate for years which make up for the
extensive distribution in the environment. The natural sources that contribute to atmospheric mercury
are volcanoes, geologic deposits of mercury, weathering of rocks and volatilization from the ocean.
Rocks, sediments, water and soil also naturally contain small amounts of mercury; scientists have
even found some local mineral occurrences and thermal springs that are natural high in mercury
(USGS, 2009). Secondary sources of mercury result from burning fossil fuels and smelting metals.
Mercury is also a by product of gold and zinc mining. Mercury is also found in many rocks one of
them being coal, when coal is burned in power plants the mercury is

Essay On Daisy Coleman
Everyone has a story. Everyone has gone through something that has changed them. You might have
seen Daisy around campus, at the tattoo shop in town or on social media, but do you actually know her
story? In 2015, RAINN, The nation s largest anti sexual violence organization, found out that 59%
perpetrators of sexual violence were acquaintances of the victims. Survivors don t usually come
forward, because it s hard, society makes it hard. People have always seen sexual violence as such a
taboo that they are almost in denial, Daisy Coleman said. Daisy Coleman s life changed dramatically
during the winter of 2012, when she was sexually assaulted by a well known high school football
player, Matthew Barnetts, while being unconscious. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My case had already gone viral and had been closed, Coleman said. It wasn t until I heard Audrie Potts
story that I decided to go full force with the documentary. She s my angel and inspiration. After that,
the Audrie and Daisy documentary was born. Being a part of such a big project, she found herself
being an inspiration for so many victims to finally stand up against their perpetrators, said Coleman.
She also wanted to do it for Audrie, who killed herself after being sexually assaulted. She wasn t given
a chance to speak out against those who hurt her so I took the responsibility of being her voice,
Coleman said. She was no different than me This past December, Daisy became a PAVE ambassador.
PAVE is a national nonprofit organization that has goals to shatter the silence and prevent sexual
violence using social advocacy, education and survivor support. Coleman s objective for victims of
sexual violence is to know that they aren t alone in their endeavors or journey. They have a whole
army of people who are 110% standing behind them whether or not they want to speak out about their
injustices. I want them to know that whatever has happened to them, is absolutely no way, shape or
form, their fault. Most of all, I want them to quit calling themselves victims because they aren t; they

The Pros And Cons Of Unemployment
Unemployment is something that has negatively impacted homelessness. According to a 2002 study
by the Urban Institute, about 55% of homeless people were not employed. Many homeless people do
happen to be employed, however, there are some associated excuses as to why the other 55% of
homeless people couldn t get a job. No cell phone, no physical address, and bad hygiene are all
reasons why the homeless couldn t possibly work. If 38% of homeless people were using their money
wisely, they should buy a gym membership in placement of alcohol, they would be able to take a
shower every day and start on the road to a healthier lifestyle. They would also be one step closer to
being employed. Homeless people have a work ethic? Let s muster the 64% of homeless that are
addicted to drugs and divide that percentage in half, leaving 32%. Those 32% are effected by their
addiction, which in logic, makes their drugs priority over any personal or professional responsibility.
Do you think that those 32% have the work ethic to hold down a job, let alone research the resources
to find a job? In the real world, majority says no. That s only half of the 64%, imagine if more than
half of that 64% had the same feeling of unworthiness, due to drugs. The choice to continue misuse of
drugs, will end with lack of responsibility prioritization. Subsidized housing is available for those who

Critique of Title IX
What if you were told that a law was made to remove discrimination of sexes in sports and education,
or that man and woman are both given equal opportunities as far as an athletic or educational career?
Would you then agree or disagree with the ideology that both sexes are still treated different even
though this law was created and the opportunities that were promised aren t precisely
indistinguishable? Title IX does not accurately protect sexual discrimination; it doesn t give equal
opportunities, and is unjust as far as benefits between male and female sports. Although this law
allows men and women to participate in the same sports and educational fields it does not efficiently
take care of those who feel sexes should be separate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to comply with Title IX the schools had to effectuate with what s called proportionality. (CBS
news) Proportionality states that the portion of the school that is female must also be the portion of
athletes that is female. Therefore setting a balance between the schools ratio and the athletic ratios and
also enforcing Title IX. The problem that balancing caused was that the school had to add more
women sports which cost more money to the school, or choose to cancel some of the schools male
sports. Subsequently, the schools had to do what was best for the school and to avoid going into debt
for sports the male sports had to be put on the burner. Many schools cut male wrestling, track and
field, tennis, and gymnastics teams instead of adding women sports. Jason Lewis a gymnasts whose
team was eliminated said that the number of men s teams are dwindling because colleges are dropping
what are called the minor men s sports, the ones that don t draw crowds or make money, and investing
more and more in just one sport football. The Fact that just twenty three years ago, there was 107 men
s gymnastics teams in this nation, now there are only 20 teams left just so happens to prove Lewis s
statement to be true.(CBS news) Finally, Title IX says that equal benefits should be given to both men
and women in the sports and education industries, but there are people who disagree with this
statement. Title IX was not made for the intent of giving women a beneficial

Miranda V. Arizona
Miranda v. Arizona American Government This case is one that changed the way the United States
Police forces will work forever. Every human in the world has natural born rights. Even people who
have been arrested have rights, The rights of the accused . These rights are the main point of this court
case. On the third of March in 1963, an eighteen year old girl, Lois Ann Jameson (Sonneborn 6), was
leaving Paramount Theaters in downtown Phoenix (Sonneborn 7). Jameson would always take the bus
home and have to walk a short distance to her home. On this night, she would be walking home and a
car pulled up past her nearly hitting her. She continued walking not realizing that a man had gotten out
and was running towards her. He grabbed her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nonetheless, detectives began questioning Miranda, and he signed a confession approximately two
hours later. (Riley 11). Miranda was not completely clear that he had the right to remain silent and also
the right to an attorney even if he couldn t pay for one. That same afternoon, he was taken to jail. And
two days later he was taken to trial. Miranda was being charged with rape and robbery. Since he could
not afford to pay for his own lawyer, one was appointed. The lawyer assigned was Alvin Moore. Most
court appointed attorneys were usually young and paid poorly, but not in this case. Moore was seventy
three years old and had forty years experience practicing law. Moore thought of using an insanity
defense because of Miranda s mental problems. But, because Miranda had been in and out of jail, it
was decided that he knew right from wrong, so that would not work. The trial went on. Moore realized
that he didn t have much to work with. Being that the prosecution had a written confession signed by
Miranda, Moore knew there was not n=much that he could do to convince the jury. On June 19th,
Miranda was on trial for robbery. It took only a few hours for him to be convicted. The next day he
went on trial for the rape of Lois Ann Jameson. The prosecution called four witnesses to testify.
Among them were Lois Ann Jameson, Sarah

What Role Does The Chorus Play In Medea
Discuss the importance of the role that the Chorus plays in Euripedes Medea.
br
br The Chorus is very much an important part of Euripedes Medea, and indeed many other works
written in the ancient Greek style. In this play, it follows the journey Medea makes, and not only
narrates, but commentates on what is happening. Euripedes uses the Chorus as a literary device to
raise certain issues, and to influence where the sympathies of the audience lie.
br
br In the list of characters at the beginning of the play, the Chorus is stated to be a chorus of
Corinthian Women. This draws the first link between them and Medea. The Chorus follows Medea on
her journey through this play. They act as narrators on important occurrences in the play; ... Show

When Medea married Jason, she married herself to him for life. She was expected to be totally
obedient and to accept whatever her husband willed. For her to look upon another man other than her
husband would have been totally unacceptable. Whereas Jason marries another woman while he is still
married, and then it is Medea who is banished from Corinth. However, the audience s response to this
type of situation would most likely have been different in Euripedes time, to today. Obviously one can
t know this for sure, but one can deduce it from what we know of that era. Although some wouldn t
have condoned Jason s actions, many would have seen it as normal because it would have been a
much more common occurrence then than today. Nonetheless, in presenting these sort of issues in a
moralistic play to the audience of the day was a brave and controversial thing to do. Obviously, the
views on the these issues have come along way since the time when this play was written, so today s
audience adapts the messages in this play to their own morality. The treatment of women, and of
Medea, and the circumstances that Medea is faced with, help the audience to, not condone, but
understand the reasons for Medea s actions at the end of the play.
br
br The opinion of the audience on characters other than Medea is also influenced by the Chorus. After
the audience hears what Jason has done to Medea in the way of marrying another

Shakespeare s A Streetcar Named Desire
Masquerades and Sexuality in A Streetcar Named Desire Masks conceal the truth from the people who
look at them. They use color, designs, and frills to hide the flaws beneath. In literature, stage, and film,
we see characters wearing masks all the time, just not always in a literal sense. The most complex and
intriguing characters wear these kinds of masks, to hide their own flaws and scars from the outside
world. In A Streetcar Named Desire, almost every character has a mask they wear, to conceal the truth
from the people around them. One of the easier masks to see is Blanche s, as she struggles with her
past and present. She hides her past from everyone to maintain her southern belle persona. However,
as the play progresses, her mask begins to crack initially with the young man she kisses before her
date with Mitch, and shatters completely once she is raped by Stanley. Her mask seems to be created
with an aura of sexuality, and is broken once it s used against her. What s notable is that William s
sister was suffering from schizophrenia prior to writing Streetcar. When she was forced to have a
lobotomy, it affected Williams, and has played a role in many of his shows. Blanche s dependence is a
part of her mask as well, as it drives a lot of her character. In her own words; I have always depended
on the kindness of strangers. It s the reason she initially comes to Stella and Stanley, and it seems her
main goal throughout her time with them is to find a

One of the themes from Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare is that power and flattery can affect
people and what they believe. It is discovered in Act I of Julius Caesar that Caesar himself is in a

A Hero’s Breakdown Essay
Ideas abound of what true heroism is in this day and age. To some, a true hero may be the person that
led their favorite sports team to a championship. To others, true heroes are the doctors that helped a
loved one get better from a serious illness. Some even see the person that gives them inspiration on a
day to day basis as a true hero. To many, however, a true hero is so much more than that. To many, a
true hero is the one that goes the extra mile t follow a strict moral code, both at home and in the public
eye. A true hero is the one who will stand up for what he or she believes and what is right, no matter
what the consequences may be. A true hero gives hope for humanity to the masses. Atticus Finch,

Our current aim is to make more green industries by searching for ways to make better yields and little

bonds, which is needed to form new molecules. In order for these bonds to work, carbon hydrogen
bonds need to be served. Previously, this has required dangerous reagents, and little was yielded when
the reaction was over. Now, there are different ways to achieve this goal. If the right catalyst is given,
it is now possible to form carbon to carbon bonds from activating carbon hydrogen bonds. This
reaction is called dehydrogenate cross coupling, has to be catalyzed before the process can begin, and

The challenge is to identify the strategies so scientists can form organ metal intermediates in a mild
condition, and to also discover different methods for these organ metal intermediates subsequent
functionalisation in order to expand this area. This presents an exciting challenge for chemists since it
might be the ultimate synthetic transformation. Currently, interest has taken over in developing an
intramolecular carbon carbon bond that ends up forming reactions catalyzed by transition metals, and
research for this focuses on the activation of carbon hydrogen bonds. There are a number of functional
groups that may be capable of certain carbon hydrogen activation. With this comes developing
strategies that involve steroinduction, complexity generating reactions, and carbon carbon bonding
formation processes. However, to efficiently identify possible new processes, parallel screening
techniques enable scientists to preform and monitor these reactions. The new discovery and
development process can be now be accelerated, which leads to a new optimized transformation faster.
This activation bond, carbon hydrogen, is currently at the edge of synthetic organic chemistry. Carbon
hydrogen activation allows the chemist to perform unexpected disconnection, and it enables synthetic
strategies. Over the past thirty years, the Heck reaction has become a fundamental metal catalyzed

Lily Bart s Role In The House Of Mirth

The Role of Money for Lily Bart in The House of Mirth Money can take over a person s life, because
without money one cannot buy what he or she desires in order to be successful and wealthy in society.
In The House of Mirth by Edith Wharton, it is no surprise that much of Lily Bart s life revolves
around money because of the late 19th century materialistic values that the upper class society exhibits
in the novel. In this environment, a person s values were based on money. With the high expectations

words Lily s mother bursts out of her mouth were a command for Lily to close the door so that the
servants would not start to question their wealth. Money provides one to have a better appearance, so
both Lily and her mother are preoccupied with keeping up with the image that they are wealthy,
despite that they are actually poor. With no real awareness of how to manage money but a definite
feeling of how much authority that comes with it, Lily desperately desires to have a great amount of
wealth for herself. For instance, Lily wants to buy flowers that cost twelve dollars, but does not see
that this is an absurd amount of money to spend on flowers when her family is in need of money. For
Lily to be economically stable, Lily must search for a husband who has enough money to provide her

Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass
Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave tells the story of Frederick Douglass
and his journey to freedom. Throughout the narrative Douglass presents his experiences through the
eyes of a slave and how these experiences were the main reason for his acquired freedom. Each part of
his transformation into a free, educated man always involved a set of opportunities that allowed him to
ultimately be able to write this historical narrative. In the narrative, Douglass never fails to mention
the great impact that getting an education had on his life and tributes his education to everything other
great thing that happened after he became educated. However, being educated included going through
several trials that allowed Douglass to reach his ultimate goal of being a free man. Even though
Douglass attributes his success to his education, he also mentions that under slightly different
circumstances, he would have never achieved what he did. This means that the education he strived
for and eventually received, would be worthless without the steps he took to acquire it. Each of the
events and situations that Douglass came upon had their own special purpose in helping him become
the prominent writer and orator he is known for being. Born Frederick Augustus Washington Bailey,
Douglass begins the narrative by telling us what he does not know. I have no accurate knowledge of
my age, he writes. He does not know his father s

The Australian Consumer Law and Consumer Guarantees
The Australian Consumer Law (ACL) was established to protect consumers in any legal trading
activities in Australia. A set of guarantees has also been introduced for those consumers who are
acquiring goods and services from Australian suppliers, importers or manufacturers. The guarantees
are intended to ensure that consumers will receive the goods or services they have paid for. If they
have problems with the products and services they bought, they are entitled for remedies, such as
repair, replacement, and refund.
As regulations keep changing, it is important to note that consumer guarantees are only applicable for
goods and services purchased on or after 1st January 2011. The laws that applied before 1st January
2011 might cover any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Colonialism, Aboriginal People, And Racism In Canada
Colonialism, Aboriginal peoples, and racism in Canada
In this research paper, I will be explaining how western colonialism and racism destroyed the
reputation of aboriginal peoples in Canada. The reason why I chose this topic because it shows the
strong relationship to anthropology and after taking aboriginal studies 30, it also shows that I have a
clear understanding about the history of aboriginal peoples in Canada, the struggles they have been
through over the past decade and the challenges they still face today in modern day society. I ll be
addressing these issues in a couple of paragraphs on the discrimination and the inequalities of these
minorities and how they had to assimilate into European culture, leaving their way of life behind
them.
The history of Canada is the era of where colonization all began towards aboriginal peoples. Over the
past decades, aboriginal peoples have been mistreated and misused by the white Europeans. They have
been oppressed by Canadian society that we are known still by today and continue to live under
racism resulting in gender and class oppression. The history of colonialism has been playing a big part
in the way of how aboriginal people have been constructed and impacted on how aboriginal people are
treated and viewed in Canadian Society. They have been dealing with the struggles, inequality, and
discrimination that we have been putting them through for over three centuries, we ve been also
failing them with Canada s racist policies

Essay about Organized Crime
Organized Crime
Organized crime has always been occupied with a negative label. Perhaps this is due to the constantly
changing environment in America as well as the social state of its homeland, Europe. Our society is
convinced that the so called Mafia is a family of pure criminals, pimps, and murderers. Whatever the
opinion, there is no doubt that the Mafia played a big part in the history of America and the way
Americans view crime today. The origins of the secret society known as the Mafia are believed to be
as old as the 9th century (Mafia History). During the 9th century, the Mafia s main purpose was to
strengthen themselves against enemies, which invaded their homeland in Sicily. It was supposed to

You come in on your feet and you go in a coffin. Then the new members were asked if they were
capable of even killing their own blood family on command (Mafia Life). Along with the ceremony,
the mobster was told of the rules he must abide by. The most important rule in organized crime was
the rule called the Omerta. The Omerta is a code of silence. A vow never to reveal any Mafia secrets
or member under threat of torture or death (Mafia History). Another rule was the obedience rule. The
obedience rule stated that the member must at all times be loyal to the boss or Don. A third law of the
Mafia was the assistance to any befriended Mafia faction, no questions asked. A few others included,
Avenge any attack on members of the family, because an attack on one was an attack on all, and the
last rule was to avoid any and all contact with the authorities (Mafia History). There is still much we
don?t know about the Mafia due to the fact that the very first rule when inducted is the Omerta. Along
with the many members involved with the Mafia, there were just as many ethnic families that existed
if not more. Mafia families were growing very large in 1800?s (Mafia History). The reason for the
large swelling of crime in America was because of the vicious increase in foreign immigrants during
that time in America. Three million Irish, four million Italians, and four million Jews immigrated to
America. They immigrated for a

Anidulafungin Case Study
Response: Anidulafungin is a semi synthetic echinocandin with antifungal activity. This agent is
selective for fungal cells as it inhibits glucan sythase enzyme and therefore inhibits the synthesis of 1,
3 beta D glucan which is essential for the fungal cell wall. According to Micromedix anidulafungin is
approved for adults and pediatrics older than 16 years to treat candida related infections.
Anidulafungin is administered as a continuous IV infusion and has good efficacy against Candida
species and Aspergillus species. It is suitable to be used in immuno compromised patients, patients
with azoles refractory infections and in those with renal impairment. However, this agent is not
approved by the FDA to be used in pediatric population younger than 16 years; yet some limited
studies have been done on this population to examine the safety and efficacy of anidualfungin; the
results of these trials are promising although more studies are needed. ... Show more content on

Correlation Between The Locations Of Known Gang Members...
Research Question Is there a spatial relationship between the locations of known gang members and
drug violations?
Analysis It is expected, based on social disorganization theory, that census tracts with high
concentrations of gang members will also be high in disorganization. As seen in figure 1 this will be
established by creating a contour line hot spot of gang member locations and drug violations overlaid
on a map showing social disorganization. Social disorganization will be based on low education levels
and high unemployment rates, which are generally accepted measurements of disorganized
neighborhoods (see Gottfredson, Mcneil Gottfredson, 1991; Teasdale, Clark Hinkle, 2012). The map
clearly shows that gang members live in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, we know that gangs do form in areas that are already high in crime and according to one
study they may not further increase crime in those areas but they do lead to a clustering of drug
offenses (Tita Ridgeway, 2007). Therefore, a cluster and outlier analysis (Anselin Local Morans I) was
conducted to determine if there is significant clustering in gang related areas. Seen in figure 3, drug
violations are clustered in the areas around known gang member locations. Based on journey to crime
and routine activities a central feature analysis was done to further explore if gang member locations
are associated with drug violation locations. Euclidean distance was utilized for this analysis as gang
members do not travel large distances and therefore are most likely on foot and not restricted to
roadways. Central feature was selected over mean center as gang members are more likely to work out
of their homes than any other offenders (Eck Gersh, 2000) so it was likely the central offense would
be very close or near the home of a known gang member. When broken down by year the central
features were stacked on top of each other with only the slightest variation as can be seen in figure 4.
Finally, a buffer will be placed around gang member locations to determine which drug violations are
likely related to their gang (figure 5). The buffer was set at 250ft as drug dealers generally have a
limited journey to crime. Approximately 25%

Calamity Jane Prostitute
We all know the controversial roles associated with Calamity Jane. No doubt she was unlike any other
woman during this time. She is most well known for how she acted and what she wore. Being a lady
was not a part of what made her famous. In contract it was being a lady and doing what she did that
made her famous. Her whole life was based on acting a different way, but it was not always that way.
According to a biography by Carl Hallberg, Calamity Jane attempted several times to lead a settled
life but found the regimen too confining. Calamity Jane s life was constructed around her
contradicting life as a woman and thus forced her into a lifestyle that was hard to escape. Many
sources claim she was a prostitute, but to me that is unlikely. Someone that is made ... Show more

Prostitution is the last straw for many woman, but she had many options besides that. If you are good
with a gun and do not mind killing, than why would you be ok with being degraded my men? I think
saying she was a prostitute was just a way to make her normal during her time. It is what many
woman did and that was a very likely role. If is just a way to make her seem compliance, like woman
were during this time. However, she was tough and carefree, that is what made her an outlaw. Being
drunk and a loud mouth is what she is most known for. On Deadwood a man even puts her down by
questioning her gender and that was very likely to be true in her life. She could easy be mistaken as a
man. Horan and Sann made a statement that, she should have been a man. (127) However, sources still
try to make her feminine and sexy. The posters and dime novels portrayed her as a petite woman that
had sex appeal. The woman they showed was more pleasing to the audiences. Little girls wanted to be
this Jane, not the real Jane. This Calamity Jane sold and people would buy it. In reality, her mind set
was so different from other woman and from what people wanted her to be. Calamity Jane was born to

The Debate Of Women s Military Combat
Ilyssa Train
Professor Loving

Women in Combat
The debate of whether women should participate in military combat is a controversial issue
worldwide. While the majority of the western countries, such as America, believe in the conservative
values associated with women in combat forces, eastern countries, like Israel, do not fully support
these ideals. Some believe it is a woman s equal right, some believe it will cause negative affects on
the family s life, and others believe women in combat should receive the rights they deserve. Every
individual can and should have an opinion on the matter, but how they address the issue can vary.
The concept of women in combat is an uncommon idea that can be traced all the way ... Show more

Depending on how history is interpreted, every person will have a different opinion on what they
believe to be correct.
America has countless means of support, including the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of
Rights, that declare equal rights on all citizens, or in other words, women in combat. There are two
sides of feminism relating to women in combat. One side describes the feminists who believe the idea
that women can and should do anything men can do (Ruby). So, if women can be anything they want
to be such as heads of nations, captains of industry, astronauts, and surgeons, then they should be
allowed to fight in combat (Ruby). The alternate feminist approach based on gender equality, which
states women should be allowed to participate in military combat, is a fundamental idea not only in
this article, but also to feminists everywhere. The idea feminists believe is not that women should do
everything men do, but to decide what activities we want humans to do, to be involved in, to value and
then work toward equality in those areas (Ruby). The idea is not that women should go into military
combat to be more masculine and violent, but to go in because they have the right to defend their
country, just like men can. Some say they are shocked to hear about or see women taking an
aggressive role in combat, women coming home from Iraq with amputations and other severe combat
wounds, and women coming

Pros And Cons Of Syrian Refugee Crisis
Syrian Refugee Crisis
International Response:
People are starting to question whether or not they want Syrians living in their country due to all the
terrorist attack, threats etc.
Canadians do not like this idea.
Believe that the Liberals and the Canadian government should be focusing more on Canada s
problems other than foreign problems.
Canada is already to become overpopulated and there are already 1,364,800 people(approx.)
unemployed in Canada so if more people immigrate to Canada than more people will be unemployed.
The unemployment rate increased by 12,500 to 1,364,800, while employment decreased by 35,700 to

Take a smaller number to test whether it is going to work or not.
Pros:
If it goes well maybe people will start to accept refugees and more will be able to come also could
change the way people look at Syrians.
Cons:
Refugees still don t get the number we promised.
If it does not go well then people will be totally against refugees coming into Canada and this will
affect future refugees coming.
Take other kinds of refugees.
There are so many other countries other than Syria that have problems with their governments or are
living in poverty.
I see ads all the time about giving unfortunate kids in Africa clean water well then why don t we bring
africans to Canada and help them. I am not saying that Syrians are bad people and we should just
ignore them because they aren t they are human beings just like we are but I think that we should get

Research Paper On The Golden Retriever
Originating in the Scottish Highlands in the late 1800s, the Golden Retriever was developed by Lord
Tweedmouth, by crossing the original yellow Flat Coated Retriever with the now extinct Tweed Water
Spaniel. He later crossed in the Bloodhound, Irish setter and more Tweed Water Spaniel. The dogs
were called the Golden Flat Coat and only later were they given the name Golden Retriever. The
Golden Retriever is one of the most popular breeds known today, not only as family companions but
for obedience competitions, hunting and tracking, as a birddog on both land and in the water, narcotics
detection, service dog for the disabled, a guide for the blind and as a therapy dog. The Golden
Retriever was first recognized by the AKC in 1925. The dog litter

This effect trickle down to the woman in the village, whom all she had known to do all her life is to
combine many things together at the same time, like carrying a breastfeeding baby on her laps, using
one hand to blow the fire she created with woods which she is using to cook for her family, using the
other hand to stir the cassava flour on fire, and at the same time, weaving a basket at intervals. She has
it in mind to sell the basket in the market on the next market day. How pathetic it will be for her to go
through all that stress, and at the end of the day she loses the profits to a hooligan who was actually
turned a hooligan by the youth unemployment crisis. At the other extreme, a rich man in the city gets a

money came late and banks had closed for the day. He prayerfully takes the money home to deposit it

the rich man of his money. At the same time, in between the two extremes, lies the average civil

entire neighbourhood was actually dark due to power outage. The family only had an exclusive
interest in the programme and managed to put on their generating set in order not to miss the program.

Situtational Judgement Tests
Introduction Situational judgment tests (SJTs) is one of the common methods which always be used in
personnel selection recently. Specifically, situational judgment tests (SJTs) typically consist of
scenarios of hypothetical work situations in which a problem has arisen. Accompanying each scenario
are multiple possible ways to respond to the hypothetical situation. The test taker is then asked to
judge the possible courses of action (L. A. L. de Meijer et al., 2010, p.229). In terms of the
development of SJTs, the scenarios and situations are always gathered by the subject matter experts
from specific job related critical incidents; and then subject matter experts would gather information
in order to create the possible responses; finally, subject matter experts would develop the scoring
keys for the SJTs (Crook et al., 2011). SJT items may be presented in different formats, such as paper
pencil based, verbal, video based, or computer based formats (e.g., Clevenger, Pereira, Wiechmann,
Schmitt, Schmidt Harvey, 2001; Motowidlo et al., 1990), and participants of the SJTs are usually
required to choose the most appropriate option among the several options for each situation or
scenario (Christian, Edwards, Bradley, 2010). The most common formats are paper pencil based and
video based SJTs. We first have the paper pencil based SJTs, and then, Thorndike (1949) mentioned
the video based SJTs would be closer to real life situations than the paper pencil based formation of

that inadequate sound amplification has had an adverse affect on the ability of some audiences to hear

Though those two causes mentioned above truly have effect on the behavior of the Urban
Management Officers, the third one is the most obvious and serious cause of abusing of power and
violence enforcement. Some indirect evidences show that some of the violate enforcement events even
happens with the acquiescence of the senior government. A common situation is that the leaders of the
Bureau only want their officers to clean out all the vendors on the street no matter what they do to
achieve it. Just like Ramzy said (2009), It s precisely because the Chinese bureaucracy s idea of an
ideal city doesn t include peddlers and street vendors that the [urban management officers] developed
into such a powerful institution (¶ 8). And when the violence enforcement event is exposed, they are
always shifting the responsibility to their staff or some one else and do not consider their
responsibility of regulation. The events of abusing of power and violence enforcement will continue
happening unless the local government set up strict regulations and punish the officers who break the
law. The abusing of power and violent enforcement of urban management officers is a tough problem
with several causes and complex background, but it is not impossible to solve as long as the
government takes effective actions such as

The insight into human consciousness that Lewis H. Lapham discussed in Homo Faber is set within
experience. The experiences of new discoveries as recorded by Alexander Humboldt and Charles
Darwin was something exciting, wonderful, and vast which gave them the power to learn, and
recognize the surrounds around them. The Earth is always changing and the discoveries that these men
made was through their own senses and emotions which then was translated to word. The very words
that we read on a page in a book is the experiences of others because humans learn through the new

  • 2. The Theme Of Restorative Justice In The Kite Runner Restorative justice, a key factor in today s society that allows us to function in a orderly way can be portrayed in many ways such as the loyalty towards one friend or the redemption from despair and pain.In the story The Kite Runner restorative justice is the leading factor in the role of the main character Amir and is quest of redemption. Restorative Justice itself can only be achieved through hard work along with the willingness to change and because of this I feel as though the movie (The Kite Runner) had less of an impact showing the struggle of redeeming oneself unlike the actual book. This being said having the opportunity to watch the film and read the book both greatly impacted how I now view restorative justice. It made the theme of redemption being something you only achieve with hard work and willingness to change oneself clear to me as the reader. Now, likewise to what I said earlier watching the movie and reading the book did in fact make the theme clear to me. The movie, to a certain extent showed how redeeming oneself requires hard work and effort. This can be shown in the scene where Amir literally had to fight in order to take Sohrab from Asself. In addition this can be read in the book when Amir says My memory of the fight with Assef is amazingly vivid in stretches... .In like manner, both adaptations of the story showed how change is necessary for redemption such as how Amir told Soraya of his wrong doing that happened so many years ago. • 3. The Law Of Comparative Advantage RICARDO proved in 1817 that when every countries specialized in the element where they have the comparative advantage, and then trades those element, all countries are better off. This theory called the law of comparative advantage became the primary reason for international trade. Now a days MNC are the primary actors of international trade, and the bargaining model that they use with countries government can appear as a practical implementation of the law of comparative advantage. In fact Dunning, J. H. (2000) estimate that competitive advantage which is a type of comparative advantage is at the heart of company motivation and ability to operate internationally as an MNC. Besides Ramamurti, R. (2001) suggest that the traditional bargaining model is based on comparative advantage that the MNC and state have respectively. The bargaining process would then be the decision process through which each party express which comparative advantage would be traded. The MNC can for example trade its technology for the accesses to natural resource that the countries government possess. Ramamurti (2001) also emphasize the point that it became obvious that the previous process is only a part of the actual bargain and that another part of the bargain is operated at a countries level (between host and home country), this step actually allow and favors international trade between those countries, but at the hour of the liberalization the actual trade would be conducted by MNC. • 4. What Are Gender Roles In The Importance Of Being Earnest The Importance of Being Earnest is one of Oscar Wilde s crowning masterpieces. The acclaimed comedic play tells the tale of Jack Worthing and the mischief he causes when he and his best friend, Algernon Moncrieff, assume double identities. When analyzing the play from various critical perspectives, the reader can divulge into the various historical roots and gender roles that the author uses to promote his message and criticize the Victorian upper class. Evaluating the play from a historical critical perspective offers a retrospective look into the various references the play makes to Victorian England. The Victorian Era of England is typically defined as the period in which Queen Victoria reigned as monarch. The Victorian period ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Perhaps the most overarching gender roles throughout the play are those associated with courting. Both Gwendolyn and Cecily are convinced that they could not be with someone who s name isn t Ernest. Gwendolyn tells Jack this in Act I. I have known several Jacks, and they all, without exception, were more than usually plain. The only really safe name is Ernest (Wilde 20). Cecily again reiterates a similar message to Algernon in Act III. You must not laugh at me, darling, but it had always been a girlish dream of mine to love someone whose name was Ernest. There is something in that name that seems to inspire absolute confidence. I pity any poor married woman whose husband is not called Ernest (Wilde 61). Both Gwendolyn and Cecily are convinced that Ernest is the optimal name for a partner due in large part to the qualities that society perceives from it. It is in this aspect of their attractiveness to the name that both characters reflect the gender roles of courting to satisfy society rather than themselves. They both like the name Ernest not because they themselves enjoy it but rather because they enjoy how society interprets it and how it makes them look. Men and women searched for an ideal relationship based on the expectations of a demanding society. If a man or woman did not possess the qualities desired by the Victorian society, the opposite sex may have dismissed the person as an unsuitable mate (Appell). Both men and women were expected to court those who fit society s expectations, not their own, and this gender role is present in the play. Another gender stereotype present is patriarchal authority and superiority. Throughout the Victorian Era, men were valued more than women. The man was the head of the household and their word was final. This is very much present throughout much of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Driving Prosability With the U.S. having the second largest passenger car market in the world, a total of 6,872,729 cars sold in 2016(OICA, 2017), it is no wonder that we rank 19th worst on the traffic index. The countries that rank the best on the index are all from europe(Numbeo,2017). So what is it that europe is getting correct about traffic? It boils down to 3 major items, roundabouts and sharedspaces, strict following to regulation and, public roads without speed limits. The implementation of all these solutions would have to start at a basic level, the driver. Obtaining a driver s licence in europe is a much more demanding task then in America. For instance most european countries require an extensive driving course or class where you have to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We already have speed limits, a requirement for the use of a turn signal, and by Florida law the far left lane should only be utilized for overtaking(Fl DOT, 2017). From their the enforcement would become strict and the speed limits of roads, that were determined to be safe, could increase or be unrestricted. As previously stated, typically, most europeans follow the law closely. The laws of the Autobahn are not as free as many Americans think. First of all, the Autobahn is every highway in Germany, and not all of them are unrestricted in regard to speed. The majority of the Autobahn follows a speed limit between 100 and 120 kilometer per hour (approximately 60 75 mile per hour)(BASt, 2015). One of the unique aspects of the unrestricted sections are advisory speed limits and temporary speed limits. Temporary speed limits are an ideal that many other countries should adopt. In essence when the posted speed limit does not apply to the current conditions of the road, the government can change it. An example of a temporary speed limit in use would be unfavorable weather conditions such as snow, ice or rain on the road. These reduce the allowed speed of drivers to keep them safe. Another example is during road work or construction the speed limit can be lowered to keep workers on the road safer. Sections of road with adjustable speed limits make sure that drivers do not exceed what is safe in bad condition but also doesn t hold people back in favorable ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Fight Scene Analysis The first section is a representation of when the meeting of Collin and Nancy occurred in the diary. I choose to represent this by scattering around music notes on all sides since it was sort of like a rock concert .The uneven colorful patches all around them stands for the commotion and mix up after the rednecks came in . This is one of the factors that cause her to have an asthma attack and he calms her down and grabs her tightly . I drew her with her hand on him to show her being calmed down. He makes her feel safe , this is why I drew them close .As her aunt does not come to pick her up ,she sobs and he again comforts her closely . The bright color represents her enthusiasm for meeting such an interesting guy to talk to . Almost like a brother . This scene is important because it is the start of her so thought love which leads to her tragedy .It also shows how he portrays a fake image ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As my main background , I used black, this is to show the time of day for this event , past midnight . The word NO is in print capital letters this is to to show her disapproval when he rapes her . She states reasons and says No. Still his response was the same there was no answer he just did it and left. All these elements are needed because this scene is so purposeful . Its purposeful because it shows how a simple house alone date turned into a risky behavioral situation. • 7. Sources of Mercury and Health Effect Sources of Mercury and Health Effect Mercury is a naturally occurring element found in the earth s crust that can be found as the elemental or metallic mercury or in many organic and inorganic compounds. Mercury is a metal that when at room temperature is a silvery liquid metal and is often called one of the heavy metals. Mercury can evaporate like water, and become airborne. It is an element that does not break down into a less toxic substance. Once mercury escapes into the environment it will continue to circulate in and out of the atmosphere until it ends up at the bottoms of lakes and oceans. It cannot be created or destroyed (UWM, 2004). The most common or leading source of mercury in the environment is atmospheric deposition. Once mercury has reached the atmosphere it can circulate for years which make up for the extensive distribution in the environment. The natural sources that contribute to atmospheric mercury are volcanoes, geologic deposits of mercury, weathering of rocks and volatilization from the ocean. Rocks, sediments, water and soil also naturally contain small amounts of mercury; scientists have even found some local mineral occurrences and thermal springs that are natural high in mercury (USGS, 2009). Secondary sources of mercury result from burning fossil fuels and smelting metals. Mercury is also a by product of gold and zinc mining. Mercury is also found in many rocks one of them being coal, when coal is burned in power plants the mercury is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Essay On Daisy Coleman Everyone has a story. Everyone has gone through something that has changed them. You might have seen Daisy around campus, at the tattoo shop in town or on social media, but do you actually know her story? In 2015, RAINN, The nation s largest anti sexual violence organization, found out that 59% perpetrators of sexual violence were acquaintances of the victims. Survivors don t usually come forward, because it s hard, society makes it hard. People have always seen sexual violence as such a taboo that they are almost in denial, Daisy Coleman said. Daisy Coleman s life changed dramatically during the winter of 2012, when she was sexually assaulted by a well known high school football player, Matthew Barnetts, while being unconscious. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My case had already gone viral and had been closed, Coleman said. It wasn t until I heard Audrie Potts story that I decided to go full force with the documentary. She s my angel and inspiration. After that, the Audrie and Daisy documentary was born. Being a part of such a big project, she found herself being an inspiration for so many victims to finally stand up against their perpetrators, said Coleman. She also wanted to do it for Audrie, who killed herself after being sexually assaulted. She wasn t given a chance to speak out against those who hurt her so I took the responsibility of being her voice, Coleman said. She was no different than me This past December, Daisy became a PAVE ambassador. PAVE is a national nonprofit organization that has goals to shatter the silence and prevent sexual violence using social advocacy, education and survivor support. Coleman s objective for victims of sexual violence is to know that they aren t alone in their endeavors or journey. They have a whole army of people who are 110% standing behind them whether or not they want to speak out about their injustices. I want them to know that whatever has happened to them, is absolutely no way, shape or form, their fault. • 9. The Pros And Cons Of Unemployment Unemployment is something that has negatively impacted homelessness. According to a 2002 study by the Urban Institute, about 55% of homeless people were not employed. Many homeless people do happen to be employed, however, there are some associated excuses as to why the other 55% of homeless people couldn t get a job. No cell phone, no physical address, and bad hygiene are all reasons why the homeless couldn t possibly work. If 38% of homeless people were using their money wisely, they should buy a gym membership in placement of alcohol, they would be able to take a shower every day and start on the road to a healthier lifestyle. They would also be one step closer to being employed. Homeless people have a work ethic? Let s muster the 64% of homeless that are addicted to drugs and divide that percentage in half, leaving 32%. Those 32% are effected by their addiction, which in logic, makes their drugs priority over any personal or professional responsibility. Do you think that those 32% have the work ethic to hold down a job, let alone research the resources to find a job? In the real world, majority says no. That s only half of the 64%, imagine if more than half of that 64% had the same feeling of unworthiness, due to drugs. The choice to continue misuse of drugs, will end with lack of responsibility prioritization. Subsidized housing is available for those who are in need of low income housing. Critique of Title IX What if you were told that a law was made to remove discrimination of sexes in sports and education, or that man and woman are both given equal opportunities as far as an athletic or educational career? Would you then agree or disagree with the ideology that both sexes are still treated different even though this law was created and the opportunities that were promised aren t precisely indistinguishable? Title IX does not accurately protect sexual discrimination; it doesn t give equal opportunities, and is unjust as far as benefits between male and female sports. And two days later he was taken to trial. Miranda was being charged with rape and robbery. Since he could not afford to pay for his own lawyer, one was appointed. The lawyer assigned was Alvin Moore. Most court appointed attorneys were usually young and paid poorly, but not in this case. Moore was seventy three years old and had forty years experience practicing law. Moore thought of using an insanity defense because of Miranda s mental problems. But, because Miranda had been in and out of jail, it was decided that he knew right from wrong, so that would not work. The trial went on. Moore realized that he didn t have much to work with. • 13. What Role Does The Chorus Play In Medea Discuss the importance of the role that the Chorus plays in Euripedes Medea. br br The Chorus is very much an important part of Euripedes Medea, and indeed many other works written in the ancient Greek style. In this play, it follows the journey Medea makes, and not only narrates, but commentates on what is happening. Euripedes uses the Chorus as a literary device to raise certain issues, and to influence where the sympathies of the audience lie. br br In the list of characters at the beginning of the play, the Chorus is stated to be a chorus of Corinthian Women. This draws the first link between them and Medea. The Chorus follows Medea on her journey through this play. They act as narrators on important occurrences in the play; ... However, the audience s response to this type of situation would most likely have been different in Euripedes time, to today. They use color, designs, and frills to hide the flaws beneath. In literature, stage, and film, we see characters wearing masks all the time, just not always in a literal sense. The most complex and intriguing characters wear these kinds of masks, to hide their own flaws and scars from the outside world. In A Streetcar Named Desire, almost every character has a mask they wear, to conceal the truth from the people around them. One of the easier masks to see is Blanche s, as she struggles with her past and present. She hides her past from everyone to maintain her southern belle persona. However, as the play progresses, her mask begins to crack initially with the young man she kisses before her date with Mitch, and shatters completely once she is raped by Stanley. Her mask seems to be created with an aura of sexuality, and is broken once it s used against her. What s notable is that William s sister was suffering from schizophrenia prior to writing Streetcar. When she was forced to have a lobotomy, it affected Williams, and has played a role in many of his shows. Blanche s dependence is a part of her mask as well, as it drives a lot of her character. Therefore, a cluster and outlier analysis (Anselin Local Morans I) was conducted to determine if there is significant clustering in gang related areas. Seen in figure 3, drug violations are clustered in the areas around known gang member locations. Based on journey to crime and routine activities a central feature analysis was done to further explore if gang member locations are associated with drug violation locations. Euclidean distance was utilized for this analysis as gang members do not travel large distances and therefore are most likely on foot and not restricted to roadways. Central feature was selected over mean center as gang members are more likely to work out of their homes than any other offenders (Eck Gersh, 2000) so it was likely the central offense would be very close or near the home of a known gang member. When broken down by year the central features were stacked on top of each other with only the slightest variation as can be seen in figure 4. • 32. Situtational Judgement Tests Introduction Situational judgment tests (SJTs) is one of the common methods which always be used in personnel selection recently. Specifically, situational judgment tests (SJTs) typically consist of scenarios of hypothetical work situations in which a problem has arisen. Accompanying each scenario are multiple possible ways to respond to the hypothetical situation. The test taker is then asked to judge the possible courses of action (L. A. L. de Meijer et al., 2010, p.229). In terms of the development of SJTs, the scenarios and situations are always gathered by the subject matter experts from specific job related critical incidents; and then subject matter experts would gather information in order to create the possible responses; finally, subject matter experts would develop the scoring keys for the SJTs (Crook et al., 2011). SJT items may be presented in different formats, such as paper pencil based, verbal, video based, or computer based formats (e.g., Clevenger, Pereira, Wiechmann, Schmitt, Schmidt Harvey, 2001; Motowidlo et al., 1990), and participants of the SJTs are usually required to choose the most appropriate option among the several options for each situation or scenario (Christian, Edwards, Bradley, 2010). The most common formats are paper pencil based and video based SJTs. We first have the paper pencil based SJTs, and then, Thorndike (1949) mentioned the video based SJTs would be closer to real life situations than the paper pencil based formation of ... The purpose of the regulation was to keep peace with RAR because the city s final desire was to deliver a good show to the public but at the same time, it wanted to maintain the individual rights of the community and the residences close to the bandshell. The record indicates that inadequate sound amplification has had an adverse affect on the ability of some audiences to hear and enjoy performances at the bandshell. That is why the city wished to sort out this problem. RAR performed at the bandshell from 1979 through 1986 and the city received multiple complaints about the noise on several occasions. From Law Enforcer to Violator of Human Right The causes of abusing of power and violence enforcement of City Urban Management officers City Urban Management Enforcement Bureau is a local government agency in mainland China that is in charge of maintaining the order of daily business activities of markets and streets in cities. This Bureau was established to deal with the increasing problems when China is in the process of rapid urbanization in these years. However, it s notorious for abusing power and violent enforcement. Though those two causes mentioned above truly have effect on the behavior of the Urban Management Officers, the third one is the most obvious and serious cause of abusing of power and violence enforcement. Some indirect evidences show that some of the violate enforcement events even happens with the acquiescence of the senior government. A common situation is that the leaders of the Bureau only want their officers to clean out all the vendors on the street no matter what they do to achieve it. Just like Ramzy said (2009), It s precisely because the Chinese bureaucracy s idea of an ideal city doesn t include peddlers and street vendors that the [urban management officers] developed into such a powerful institution (¶ 8). And when the violence enforcement event is exposed, they are always shifting the responsibility to their staff or some one else and do not consider their responsibility of regulation. The events of abusing of power and violence enforcement will continue happening unless the local government set up strict regulations and punish the officers who break the law. The abusing of power and violent enforcement of urban management officers is a tough problem with several causes and complex background, but it is not impossible to solve as long as the government takes effective actions such as ... The experiences of new discoveries as recorded by Alexander Humboldt and Charles Darwin was something exciting, wonderful, and vast which gave them the power to learn, and recognize the surrounds around them. The Earth is always changing and the discoveries that these men made was through their own senses and emotions which then was translated to word.
