Conglutinin Experiment
SP D had shown the growth inhibition of E coli, Legionella pneumonia, Enterobacter aerogenes and
Klebsiella pneumonia by increasing the cell membrane permeability (Wu et al., 2003) but not in the
case of mycobacteria (Ariki, 2011). We performed experiment to find out either recombinant
conglutinin increased the cell membrane permeability of the M. bovis BCG and as a result growth
inhibited which is shown in figure 4.3. Heat treated M. bovis BCG used as a positive control. While
heat treated M. bovis BCG were stained with propidium iodide, they absorb PI stained due to
increased cell membrane permeability achieved with heating. It has been confirmed that M. bovis
BCG coated with conglutinin does not kill mycobacteria by increasing cell membrane permeability as
those bacteria does not shown the propidium iodide absorbance. From this experiment we observed
that the direct effect of conglutinin is bacteriostatic rather then bactericidal, as no bacterial cell lysis ...

Abstract
The goal of this essay is to focus on theory and implementation of the Balanced Scorecard system.
Because of the structured generic approach of the methodology, the Balanced Scorecard has gained its
popularity as means of evaluating performance and reporting quantitative performance results. The
balanced scorecard is a strategic planning and management system that is used extensively in business
and industry, government, and nonprofit organizations worldwide to align business activities to the
vision and strategy of the organization, improve internal and external communications, and monitor
organization performance against strategic goals (The Balanced Scorecard Institute, 2014). The
Balanced Scorecard is the most prevalent and adopted of the several strategic performance tools since
the early 1990s. In addition, the derivatives of the Balanced Scorecard such as Performance Prism and
Results Based Management have also gained prominence in the field of strategic performance
management and improvement. The Balanced Scorecard commenced as a performance management
tool that incorporated strategic non financial performance measures to the conventional financial
indicators in order to provide managers and company executives with a somewhat balanced view of
the aspect of organizational performance.

Brown Had A Lot Of Co-Plotters To Help Him With The...
1. The first of the three reasons that John Brown became a violent protester to slavery are as follows.
In his mind, John believed that he was fulfilling their struggle for freedom in terms of the
revolutionary soldier and puritan that he had descended from (3). In other words, the fight was already
in him, he was trying to do good because he already saw what the puritans had went through to
achieve their freedom. It was in his blood so to speak. The second of the three reasons is that John
believed that God had called him to make do this for the slaves. John Brown was a very religious man
as it talks about him going to church and evening going as far as making his children write down their
sins they committed in the day. (17) The third and final reason for John browns turn to violence is the
fact that he did not believe that a non violent tactic would work against the pro slavery people. The
massacre of Pottawatomie was a true example of what John Brown believed was the correct way to
handle this problem of slavery.
2. John brown had a lot of co plotters to help him with the Harpers Ferry raid. Out of all of the co
plotters there is only one that I could most identify with, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In all honesty I do not believe that John Brown believed his raid would fail. John Brown so much of
his life into the cause of the abolishment of slavery and freedom of the slaves. The amount of planning
Brown did for just this raid was insane when you think about it he devoted most if not all of his time
to this. He went as far as making sure they weren t looking suspicious to the people in Maryland while
carting around weapon wagons of freight. (102) Brown also even turned to his family for help in the
raid. I do not know if it is out of desperation or if it is out of devotion to his cause of abolishment of
slavery. (102 103) So with that being said, I do not believe that any though in John Brown s head had
him failing this raid and triggering the slave uprising that he had once

Immunopathogenesis of Vyloria
When a virus invades the human body there is an assortment of responses from the immune system
relying largely on the particular pathogen type. Viruses invade the host with the purpose of replication
to ensure survival. My cytosolic virus is a single stranded RNA virus. The virus is surrounded by an
envelope with a lipid membrane. Inside the envelope are matrix proteins, integrase, protease, reverse
transcriptase and the RNA genome. All viruses contain three proteins necessary for their survival; one
for replication, one for packaging and delivering it to more host cells and a protein that modifies the

They go through negative selection after V(D)J recombination where the self reacting cells are
eliminated. Positive selection is in the periphery and where B cells become mature B cells. Unlike T
cells, B cells also go through hypermuation and class switching in the lymph nodes after they are
activated. This helps them be more specific for antigens. B cells either proliferate into memory B cells
or plasma cells that secrete antibodies. Antibodies opsonize, neutralize or fight by complement
fixation against the virus. The memory cells are used if an infection of the same virus occurs

Essay on Employee Evaluation and Its Practice
Employee Evaluation Microsoft announces, it would stop stack ranking the much reviled practice it
has used up until now to evaluate and reward its employees (Farnham, 2013, p. 1). A performance
appraisal and reward system should provide an evaluation of employees performance and motivation
and establishing a clear link between efforts and reward through formalized and specified individual
targets (Azzone, Palermo, 2011, p. 91). Types of performance appraisals include General Appraisal:
This process includes ongoing communication between the manager and employee throughout the
entire year (JetHr, 2013, p. 1). At year end determine if the pre set goals and objectives were met,

Using a bell curve for performance evaluation process (Vaishnav, Khakifirooz Devos, 2006, p. 1), this
method rewards a small percentage of top performers, encourage a large majority in the middle to
improve, and lay off the bottom performers. Companies believe that such pay for performance system
encourages employees to perform better (Vaishnav, Khakifirooz Devos, 2006, p. 1). Eventually, by
using this stack ranking approach, employees spend more time on a cannibalistic culture than
innovating on projects. This process causes employees to pit themselves against each other and causes
many to leave the firm. Many companies, such as Adobe and Expedia eliminated this type of appraisal
system (Vaishnav, Khakifirooz Devos, 2006, p. 1). Evaluation and Analysis The result of the rank
stacking appraisal approach lay offs take place, constant pressure demoralizes employees, leading to
drop in performance (Vaishnav, Khakifirooz Devos, 2006, p. 11). Bottom performers depart, the rigid
distribution of the bell curve forces managers to categorize a high performer ... as a mediocre
(Vaishnav, Khakifirooz Devos, 2006, p. 11). A high performer, unmotivated by such artificial
demotion behaves like a mediocre (Vaishnav, Khakifirooz Devos, 2006, p. 11). Never a fan of
organized yearly appraisals, employee evaluations should foster improving communication and

Blackrock Essay
Blackrock Major Essay Assignment
Blackrock by Nick Enright is a drama piece constructed to challenge dominant social ideology of
twentieth century Australian youth. The text presents a very critical attitude towards Australian society
in particular the notion of mateship is criticised and exposed in a negative light, as are the
justifications, and outcomes of youth independence, and the marginalisation of females. Blackrock,
being inspired/based on a the real life rape and murder of schoolgirl Leigh Leigh (in Stockton, near
Newcastle, Australia on 3 November 1989), provides powerful, direct, criticism of dominant
Australian (male) youth culture, and highlights how seemingly harmless attitudes and ideologies can
lead to the most severe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In such a contrast the writer is criticising the submissiveness of the female population, and conveying
the concept of fighting for your rights and defending your beliefs as does Cherie. Tiffany s boyfriend
Ricko, who is the dominant male in the Blackrock youth group, clearly objectifies Tiffany through the
symbolic use of his surfing trophy, representative of Tiffany, through his eyes she is just a trophy, just
an object which he desired and thus conquered. Ricko s objectification of her is reinforced through the
dialogue, Once, for him and Jason...I m not doing nothing like that ever again, to which Ricko replies ,
You ll do what you always do...Cause you are what you are. What you ll always be. So shut up and put
out. Ricko s mind set and personality are evident through this cruel and contemptuous verbal abuse,
which demonstrates his objectification of her, in that he only tolerates her for her body to satisfy his
sexual lust and that she is useless in every other way to him. Tiffany s character was created by
Enright to be a perfect example of female marginalisation and disempowerment, as she really has no
power within the Blackrock community and even in her attempts to assume rapport she is rejected Her
promiscuity is an attempt to gain status in the Blackrock community yet she is abused and objectified
by her boyfriend Ricko and pushed even lower in social status(as a sex object), essentially the

Gustav Eiffel Research Paper
Gustave Eiffel was one of the most renowned architects and engineers of his time. He is mostly
known for his contribution to the French railway network and the famous Eiffel Tower. Eiffel was
born on December 15 in the year of 1832 in Dijon, France. Eiffel s career began to take off when he
graduated from the College of Arts and Manufacturing in Paris, France in 1855. Upon graduating at
the top of his class, Eiffel began to show interest in metal construction. He ended up becoming very
skilled in this specialty that he was later given the nickname of Magician of Iron .
Eiffel s first paid job was as a private secretary for a railway engineer. After leaving his first job, Eiffel
went on to work for Ouest, a French railway company. It was at this job that Eiffel executed his first
bridge project. This 72 foot sheet iron bridge was built for the Saint Germaine Railway. Shortly after,
Eiffel was able to complete his first major work, which came to be known as the Bordeaux Bridge
once he began working for Compagnie Belge. Originally, this opportunity only allowed Eiffel to be in
charge of the metalwork that was needed for the execution of the project. Luckily, he was eventually
appointed to take over the project once the previous management decided to resign. The successful
completion of the Bordeaux Bridge resulted with many new opportunities for Eiffel. His work quickly
gained popularity and of these opportunities he was selected to be the principal engineer of the

The Victims Of A Disaster Victim Identification
It was the first brightening of December 26, 2004, the day after Christmas, when the ocean broke off
the coast of Indonesia, storming with an archaic roar. Rising from the ocean floor, colossal waves
purloined masses of land, fami¬lies of loved ones and towns of their identity. The Sumatra earthquake
registered 9.4 on the Richter scale and generated a tsunami that whipped across the coast of 13
nations, causing nearly 217,000 deaths and 125,000 injuries. Victim Identification was critical to
prevent issues at cultural, humanitarian and legal levels for the surviving family members and friends.
It could potentially risk living people and create mental problems for victim families until their loved
ones are identified and brought home. I was part of the DVI (Disaster Victim Identification) team to
identify victims, and based the process upon the international Interpol DVI guidelines. Identification
by means of external appearances was difficult due to the environmental conditions that quickly lead
to decomposed corpses. Thus the different steps of odontology, fingerprinting, and molecular genetic
investigations played a huge role in identifying the victims. The Thailand Tsunami was an open
disaster, where the number and identity of victims involved was unknown as there were no prior
records or descriptive data available. There were many locals as well as foreign victims from a span of
30 countries, making it arduous to estimate the confirmed number of victims after the event.

John Proctor Is a Flawed Man. How, in Spite of This, Does...
John Proctor is a flawed man. How, in spite of this, does Arthur Miller develop his character so that
we admire him more and more as the play progresses?
John Proctor, throughout the play, undergoes a personal dilemma. He earns our respect during the play
by making some moral choices. Towards the end of the play he follows the courage of his convictions
but ironically has to play the ultimate price.
Miller introduces a complex character. John Proctor, in the directors notes, comes across as a well
respected person to the puritan community of Salem Massachusetts. Although would he be if they
knew he was harbouring a secret? He is a guilt ridden character who has defied the laws of 17th
century Salem.

When Proctor makes his decision Elizabeth won t comment on it. This shows that she now knows her
place and knows that its his own decision. Proctor realises that his wife is the only one he ll ever love.
The audience respect proctors decision as they know that this is the right one.
When Mary Warren reveals that she knows about Proctors and Abigail s affair, before Elizabeth is
taken away, Proctor is aggressive and prepared to use violence towards Mary in order to stop her from
going to the court, Mary says she has to go o the court, this makes Proctor angry so he replies I ll
official you! Proctor thinks that Mary should be subservient as she s just a common servant but as
Mary knows his secret his attitude changes towards her. At this point in the play Proctor acknowledges
that all might have to come public. This is a significant moment as he s willing to blacken his good
name in order to save his wife. Proctor comes to term that Mary may be the answer to their problem.
The marshal arrives and takes Elizabeth away for witchcraft. Proctor demands that Mary Warren goes
to the court and tells them about the girls fraudulent behaviour. John Proctor is protective over Mary
Warren and supports her when he takes her to the court. Trying to ascertain the truth he says, we burn
a hot fire here; it melts down all concealment. Proctor hints his sexual misconduct with a Abigail

Ken Kesey: The Man at the Vanguard of the Psychedelic Counterculture The infamous Abbie

was also experiencing one of its greatest heights.
The beat movement was in full swing, however, it was about to crash head on into the hippie

essential resources that would help diminish poverty is creating job programs. Many people need the

What fuels the desire of wanting to go watch a horror film? As a society, naturally, we do not want to
be afraid of the supernatural or even live in a haunted house (perhaps some people do, on the rare
occasion) but why would we want to go watch something that makes it difficult for us to sleep at
night? What drives us out of our way to be scared, indulged in the gory, disfigured monsters?
Normally, we would avoid a scenario to be attacked by a monster or as Carroll pinpointed, attempt to
add some pleasure to a boring afternoon by opening the lid of a steamy trash can in order to savor its
unwholesome stew of broken bits of meat... unrecognizable clumps, riven thoroughly by all manner of

The old tendency to dismiss the Hollywood cinema as escapist always defined escape merely
negatively as escape from, but escape logically must also be escape to. (Wood 30) A dream does not
necessarily have to be good or bad, but it is an escape from reality, no matter what form it s presented
in. Reality can seem dull and audiences who choose to go watch a horror movie tend to watch it for
controlling the idea of the repressed, things that cannot be controlled by the conscious mind. The idea
can be represented from outside or inside of the community and then annihilated, further emphasizing
the idea of otherness . The 1920 film can be depicting Europe in the 1920s with the great depression,
economy failure and unemployment soared, Orlok could be a figure of the despair in reality,
something that humanity was trying to beat/ get rid of. The definition of normality in horror films is in
general boringly constant... The Monster is... changing from period to period as society s basic fears
clothe themselves in fashionable or immediately accessible garments rather as dreams use material
from recent memory to express conflicts or desires that may go back to early childhood. (Wood 31)

The Pros And Cons Of Surviving A Zombie Apocalypse
Surviving is to continue to live or exist despite dangerous or life threatening situations. There are
many circumstances that could threaten the survival of a person or a group of people. Drastic
situations such as the zombie apocalypse has the potential threat to wipe out the entire human
population. Survival of the apocalypse will take an individual and a group s efforts, skills, and
determination to escape.
Situations will arise where the group will need a variety of tools, and supplies to survive and to
approach close combat. Guns are essential to surviving a zombie apocalypse. The ability to kill a
zombie from a distance is safer and than approaching the undead to perform close combat. Although a
gun seems to be the best method of destruction to a zombie, the weapon also brings some drawbacks,
such as the noise. A gunshot will attract other zombies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although it s not apparent that a zombie apocalypse will happen or even when it may happen, It is
always best to prepare for the worst. Many people believe that if the apocalypse were to occur then the

apocalypse because the zombies are too slow and not intelligent enough to take over the human
population (Hill, Why the Zombie Apocalypse Wouldn t Happen).
Some people believe that they are also too skilled to be killed by the undead, people believe they

Essay On The Role Of Canada In Peacekeeping
Canada s role in peace keeping around the world
Canadians strongly believe that peacekeeping is about trying to protect people from extreme harm, a

for it s willingness to contribute troops to peace keeping missions and has participated in more

with the creation of UNEF in 1956. It was originally intended that the Queen s Own Rifles of Canada

Beloved follows the story of Sethe as she retraces her past and shines light onto the dark side of
slavery. Paul D depicts this when he recounts his time in prison in Alfred, Georgia and at Sweet

constant in his stories, from the iron bit to the iron chain. In Beloved, Toni Morrison uses the chain to
signify both the connection and disconnection that slavery fostered.
Upon introduction to the chain, its physical purpose is clear: it s meant to restrain the men. When
Morrison writes, one thousand feet of the best hand forged chain in Georgia , she is emphasizing this

My College and Career Choices Essay

what interests me most about the college. College is not cheap or easy but it is doable. Tuition for
OSU is $11,285 per semester (collegecalc.org). With a larger college there is going to be a larger
enrollment number. According to (osu.edu) there is an average of 50,000 students enrolled at OSU.
Having a large variety of choices in majors is convenient. A total of 175 majors are offered at OSU

are both offered at OSU. The scholarships offered at OSU are various types of merit scholarships
awarded to those students who qualify (osu.edu).Financial aid at OSU is like other universities ,they

as intramural sports and many other programs. Although it is not my first choice if I get the chance I

In the early 19th century, major European influence began with Abderrahmane, who ruled from 1822
to 1859 and took a vastly different approach from his predecessor, Moulay Slimane who began his
reign bankrupt, and worsened the situation with an incredibly bad decision, enacting isolationist
policies, severing all trade with Europe because at the time, the shari a was interpreted to have
forbidden trade with Christians, however some historians believe that the was actually because of a
long running non aggressive conflict Morocco had with Spain and Portugal. These policies caused
mass famine and rioting in Fez in 1820 , and all but brought the Sultan down until he paid off the
armies. Abderrahmane was an enthusiastic advocate of foreign trade, signing trade treaties with
Portugal, France, Italy and Britain. These treaties went a long way to improving Morocco s
international position and when Morocco entered a drought in 1825; they imported 2.5 million
kilograms of grain, alleviating the situation. When France invaded Algeria in 1930, Abderrahmane had
to decide whether to support religious brothers, or to live with their new and powerful neighbor, he
was stuck between a rock and a hard place, as one would be met with rebellion and the other invasion.

Ideas Revealed Within My Last Duchess
Ideas Revealed within My Last Duchess In Robert Browning s poem, My Last Duchess, the author
writes of a Duke who seems to admit to murdering his last duchess. The poem starts with the Duke
introducing the painting of his last duchess to an emissary. He goes on to claim that she was unfaithful
and believes that she was flirting with the artist of her portrait. The Duke insists that he should be the
only one that has her attention. Throughout the poem, the Duke s ego is revealed and he implies that
he executed his own wife (Browning 1016 1017). My Last Duchess is filled with ambiguous claims
which calls the reader to examine every possibility. This is difficult considering there is only one
speaker, the Duke, in the poem. The three things that are discovered when a reader dives deeper into
Browning s poem, My Last Duchess , are the dysfunction of the Duke and Duchess relationship, the
reason for the Duke s vanity, and the misrepresented Duchess. Throughout the poem, many hints and
clues are given that show dysfunction in the Duke s and Duchess relationship. The Duke and Duchess
have a failing relationship because of childlessness and lack of communication (Hawlin 146).
Browning s Duke is based off of the real Duke of Ferrara who never had any children (Gardner Duke
169). Not only as a man but as a duke with a age old family name, not providing an heir would be
shaming. If the Duchess is fooling around , Gardner claims that the Duke reveals his impotence

The Fast Fashion Industry
Imagine having to wake up everyday knowing that you have the tough task as a child going to the

When there is a high demand for goods from consumers in order to get more there needs to be more
factories and workers in order to produce more.Consumers are the main reason for the goods being

the appeals used in order to tell help people see what a high demand for products can do. For example
the author uses logos in order to explain to us how we are able to get goods so fast from cheap labor.
In the article it states The reason we have fast fashion is the cheap exploited labor around the world,
said Cline. She estimates that less than 10% of what we re wearing... was made in factories where
people were paid a living wage and working in safe and legal conditions. This explains that we rarely
wear clothes that was produced from safe and good paying factories. As consumers we should turn the
heat down and let it simmer for a minute. Is it really fair to workers who make most of our clothes?
Scafidi also states Yet with the demand for fast fashion an all time high, more and more clothes are
being made in the kinds of conditions that morally offend a lot of people in the Western world and
without these kinds of well publicized tragedies, shoppers don t even think about it. Scafidi displays
the use of pathos in order to help us feel and understand that we do not agree or support how people
are enrolled into harsh labor , yet we continue and fail to realize what is going on until tragedies like
the Bangladesh factory collapse occurs. As consumers Scafidi wants us

Many famous music artists of today have SoundCloud to thank, like the recent prominent rapper
Willie Maxwell II, known professionally as Fetty Wap. It was April of 2014 when Maxwell II
uploaded the track Trap Queen, which quickly became the anthem of the summer (John). By the end
of summer, Trap Queen had reached eleven million plays on SoundCloud, which led to a record deal
with 300 Entertainment
(Gruger). In addition to Maxwell II, SoundCloud also helped music artists like electronic dance
musician Skrillex, hip hop rapper Post Malone, and house musician Kygo.
In contrast, Spotify s direction is to provide its listeners with songs for everyone of life s moment.
Spotify accomplishes this goal by creating playlists for specific genres and moods. For example, such
playlists include Country, R amp;B, Rock, Holidays, Good
Vibes, Mood Booster, Romance, Workout, and Focus. In addition, Spotify s goal is also to allow its
users to access Spotify from anywhere through the use of mediums like
Davidson 2 computers, smart phones, tablets, home entertainment systems, cars, gaming consoles, and

Being strikingly different from SoundCloud, the music selection of Spotify is of the already famous
musicians of the industry. Therefore, Spotify helps broadcast and promote the already well known
music artists.

Once this structure was predicted, it will represent the R group of the ester. The oxygen side chain can
be predicted as a butane by understanding the mechanism behind esterification. Using the molecular
formula of the unknown carboxylic acid, the degree of unsaturation was calculated to be five. This
number indicates that there is potentially an aromatic ring, alkene, or alkyne. However, looking at the
chemical shifts in the NMR, the lack of peaks within 7 ppm + can ruled out the presence of an
aromatic ring. Moreover, the lack of chemical shift around 5.3 indicates the lack of double bonds. The
NMR shows 7 peaks, which were labeled as a,b,c,d,e,f, and g respectively from low ppm to high ppm.
Peak a and b appears to be similar to a methyl group with shifts between .9 1.4 ppm. Since peak b is
more down field, it is assumed to be closer to the carbonyl. Since a carbonyl ketone have a chemical

the carbonyl group is the alcohol group, representing peak f. This is a reasonable assumption because

Images Of The Virgin Mary Nursing Christ
1. What was the original function and significance of images of the Virgin Mary nursing Christ (called
Virgo Lactans, or Madonna del Latte)?
Images of the Virgin Mary nursing Christ were originally intended not as pornography, but as visuals
that depicted the nourishment of a child. The social setting of when these images emerge helps explain
why these images of exposed breasts were perceived as tolerable. During the mid fourteenth century
Europe experienced a severe food crisis. With the fertilities rates increasing and the food supply of the
previous century depleting Europe was left to face severe famine. With this in mind one can
understand why the popularity of the image of the nursing Virgin Mary grew at this time. The nursing
Virgin Mary depicted an image of nutrition and stability that appealed to the people living through this
unpredictable time (Miles 29). Aside from being an appealing concept to the people who were facing
wide instability it also provided the church a way to drive a message. The church utilized this image as
a way to promote breastfeeding among mothers. The fourteenth century Tuscan child care manuals
discussed in Mile s text explained the need for this breastfeeding propaganda. The manuals were
designed to warn mothers of the dangers of feeding their children milk from animals, and of wet
nurses. Popular preachers even took it upon themselves to push the message of breastfeeding in their
sermons. Bernardino of Siena urged maternal suckling in his

One of them is not going to change anything, maybe just the outlook for them. This human attracter

Racism Is A System Of Power And Privilege
Racism is a system of power and privilege; it can be manifested in people s attitudes but is rooted in

people would argue that Americans have come a long way from where America used to be, and while
that is true, why should the American people be satisfied with just that? Why not fight for complete
transformation? Today the United States is more diverse than ever; however, diversity doesn t
automatically mean tolerance. Unfortunately, racism and white privilege still exist and impact
American s everyday lives.

Slaves were not allowed to learn how to read and write, the women were often raped by their masters,
and slaves were brutally beaten for misbehaving. They were not considered people. Later, Abraham
Lincoln became President, and in 1863 the Emancipation Proclamation was written and claimed all
slaves forever free ( Slavery in America, 2017).
Don t think it stops there, fast forward about 100 years later to the Civil Rights Movement. Southern
states created the Jim Crow laws prohibiting blacks from using the same bathrooms, schools, busses
and even theatres as white people. They were by no means equal. This led to many protests, such as
the march on Washington on August 28th 1963, where Martin Luther King Jr. made his famous I Have
a Dream speech. Soon after, President John F. Kennedy passed The Civil Rights Act of 1964, banning
segregation and racial discrimination in the work place and in education. Following this, came the
Voting Rights Act of 1965, allowing black men and women the right to vote. Clearly, throughout
history, Americans have struggled with racism, and it s not over ( Civil Rights Movement, 2017).
In addition, white privilege dominated the United States since the beginning of the new world. White
privilege from the past is hard to define, as it really was a belief, not a concrete concept. Simply put, it
was the belief that everything in this world, economic, social, academic, and historical, belonged to

Ferdinand, Isabella, One King Ferdinand And Isabella
Frank Colletta

Global 1 R
12/09/17
One King, one Queen, otherwise known as Ferdinand and Isabella. Ferdinand and Isabella were
cousins. Later on in 1469 they became husband and wife. Isabella became the quartermaster and
financier (isabellaqueenofspain.wordpress.com), while Ferdinand was the leader of the army. Together
they expanded and ruled the Spanish Empire. (spainthenandnow.com). Isabella was born on April 27,
1451. She was born in a city of Madrigal and raised Catholic. Her mother s name was also Isabella.
Her mother was the Princess of Portugal. King John II, of Castile, was her father. Isabella never really
knew her father as he died when she was only four years old. Isabella was well educated and from a
very young age was taught she could achieve great things. When King John II died, he left the
Kingdom of Castile to Isabella s step brother Henry. (Bucklin). Later when Isabella s brother died, she
had to fight to become ruler of Castile against her Niece Juana who tried to take over the throne.
Ferdinand would help her in the war to succeed her step brother and take over as ruler (Azcona).
Isabella s cousin, also known as her husband, Ferdinand, was born in 1451. His father was King John
II of Aragon and his mom was Juana Enríquez of Castile. They were both of Castilian origin. Unlike
Isabella, he had a father figure and would succeed his father as King of Aragon. From his father he
learned integrity, courage and reserve. Ferdinand was raised by his parents to become a king and a
devout Catholic. (ferdinandandisabella.weebly.com) He became known as Ferdinand the Catholic
(Azcona). In 1469 Ferdinand and Isabella were married. The marriage was really an arrangement for
purposes of taking control of Spain. Their union would bring about accomplishments that would go
down in history. The first main accomplishment was that they unified Spain. Their marriage unified
the regions of Castile and Aragon. Before Ferdinand and Isabella took over, Spain was separated and
confused. (ferdinandandisabella.weebly.com) The couple would share equal ruling power. As time
went on, their combined forces would make Spain into a strong world power. (history.com).

Essay about Persuasion in 12 Angry Men
In his article, The Necessary Art of Persuasion , Jay Conger stated that persuasion is NOT about
selling or convincing; rather, it is a learning and negotiating process. Good persuaders use and listen to
ongoing and active discussions (or debates) to learn about their audience and include different
opinions into a shared conclusion. In the movie 12 Angry Men , juror number 8 (Henry Fonda) was
not sure if evidence presented against a young defendant in court left reasonable doubt for a guilty
conviction. The other jurors believed the presented facts and the defendant s background warrants a
guilty conviction. The movie showed how juror number 8 persuasively got the other jurors to review
each fact logically, which led to an unanimous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is critical to identify the tangible benefits and values that really matters to people being persuade.
Effective persuaders consider what is important to an audience and lays his or her position to match
common ground with the audience. This is a give and take process. Effective persuaders also use
testimonies, past and current research, etc and readjust their argument to make them appealing to their
audience. Persuaders must know an audience well enough to know what will capture their immediate
and continued attention.
Juror number 8 was in a situation where there is no common ground between him and the other jurors.
All are from diverse backgrounds and uncomfortably brought together to deliberate the facts in an
open and shut murder trial. Juror number 8, wanting to just talk , kept reconsidering and adjusting his
position with the other juror s positions about the defendant until a common was reach in the
deliberation. Again, this is a give and take process and is effective if properly done right.
The third essential step is presenting evidence to an audience. Conger stated that evidence alone will
not convince an audience to support a position or an idea. Evidence can appear too abstract and not
entirely informative. Persuaders, Conger noted, use stories, metaphors, analogies, examples, etc and
use vivid language skillfully to paint a compelling big picture of their point of view. This approach is
far more effective than stating facts in

Frida Kahlo Vs Jacques Derrida
It can be argued that Frida Kahlo is a painter that challenged the ideas pertaining to gender, race, and
sexuality. She is known for questioning the essence of these identities. Kahlo famously painted
depictions which show her questioning and exploring her own identity. When looking at her whole
body of work, it is apparent that Kahlo was interested in gender and racial constructs. Frida Kahlo s
painting, Diego and Frida, 1929 1944 is one visual example of how Frida Kahlo was an artist that
challenged ideas surrounding gender, race, and sexuality. This painting can be seen through the lens of
deconstruction to offer a deeper insight into its meaning. Vernon Minor and Jacques Derrida are art
theorists that have also speculated about deconstruction. These two both made an argument that

Deconstruction at its core is an act that ask questions for the sake of asking questions. This is so
because deconstruction is not about reaching a conclusion. Rather, deconstruction seeks to expand
questioning in order to expand perception. Jacques Derrida points out, that there is no such thing as
true deconstruction. Derrida states that every decoding is another encoding It is important to note that
in so saying this, Derrida has fundamentally defining a key characteristic of decoding. There is no way
to truly decode as there is always a naturally occurring need to seek to define what has been decoded.
This, however, is not the goal of decoding. The true aim of decoding is to continually ask questions in
order to raise new questions thus, new understanding. Diego and Frida 1929 1944 contains specific

Twisted Tornadoes
Whats a tornado s favorite game? Twister! Tornadoes cause a lot of damage, because they have high
wind speeds, kill and injure people, cover large amounts of land, they can mix with wild fire to cause
firenadoes, and they are on the ground so they are close to people and structures. Tornadoes happen
most often in the spring time, which is why it is called tornado season. Tornado Alley is where the
most tornadoes happen annually. Tornado Alley includes Oklahoma, Kansas, the Texas Panhandle,
Nebraska, Eastern South Dakota, and Eastern Colorado(12 Twisted Tornado Facts.).
A tornado is a type of natural disaster. Tornadoes are violent and destructive windstorms that happen
on land(Tornado). A windstorm cannot be considered a tornado until it has touched the ground.
Tornadoes form when moist warm air is trapped under cold dry air. When the warm air is pushed up, if
the conditions are right, the air will start to spin and a tornado will form(12 Twisted Tornado Facts).
Tornadoes can be very dangerous if you are caught in one, like the people of St. Louis in 1896, or the
people caught in the tornadoes of the tornado outbreak in 1974. In the past we didn t have technology

Lab Report On Injection Molding
2.1 Introduction
In this lab, we are requiring to observe the effect of injection molding process variables to the tensile
strength of Polypropylene (PP). As the outcome of this change, the specimen will be measure as to
determine its change of properties based on different variables. The process variables that will be
changes is injection pressure, and the material that be used as the specimen is PP. The scope of this
study is focusing on the simulation of tensile strength on the raw materials including determination of
the effective parameters that contribute to the response.
2.2 History of Injection Molding
The injection molding has grown since its beginnings in the late 1800 s. In 1868, John Wesley Hyatt
has created a way to make billiard balls by injecting celluloid into a mold. Thus, in 1872, both John
and his brother Isaiah Hyatt patented the injection molding machine. The machine was primitive and it
is suitable for their purposes, where it contained a basic plunger that used to inject the plastic into a
mold through a heated cylinder. In 1946, James Hendry has built the first screw injection molding
machine to replace Hyatt s plunger with an auger design, where the auger built is placed inside the
cylinder and mixes the injection material, before it pushing forward and injecting the material into the
mold. Nowadays, almost all injection molding machines use the same technique as before. [2]

Injection molding is an operation that injects

Merlet s Film Artemisia
Director Agnes Merlet s film, Artemisia , tells the story of the Italian Baroque painter Artemisia
Gentileschi and her relationship with her teacher. Merlet s take on the story is one that endorses the
student teacher romance; as well as promoting Gentileschi s feminism and portraying her as a strong,
individual character. The movie is successful in depicting both the intensity of student teacher
relationship, and Artemisia s independent will. Nevertheless, at times the relationship between Tassi
and Artemisia seems more Hollywood like than realistic, which at times degrades Artemisia s
character by making her seem injudicious.
The acting in the film was especially vigorous, and effective. Actress Valentina Cervi accurately
interprets Gentileschi s

Analysis Of Community Media
This dissertation takes a step forward from prior research projects that conducted surveys to gauge a
person s willingness to comment or submit UGC through the use of content analysis in an attempt to
gauge how much UGC community newspaper websites actually publish. In addition, the survey of
community newspapers website managers offered some context to what choices might occur behind
the scenes including the percentage of content submitted by the audience community media actually
publishes. The expectation was that the percentage of UGC published would be high based past
research that community media would make the gatekeeping choice to use UGC as a way of
interacting with the public (Rennie, 2007). However, the results indicated that ... Show more content

In addition, the survey results pointed toward a lack of interest among those managing community
journalism websites in engaging in any form gatewatching. For example, the survey respondents
suggested through their survey responses that they considered it unimportant to help guide their
audience to other reliable sources. The focus for community media seems heavily focused on print.
The web appears to be less a concern to community newspaper website managers. However, print
does have a seemingly limited future with the millennial generation (Meyer, Speakman Garud, 2016),
and the audience is moving online (Abernathy, 2014). Community journalism as both a business and a
public service should determine a manner to survive online while making a profit. There is research
suggesting that young people age into subscribing to print, however, those numbers have been steeply
declining among all age groups (Pew, 2016), and Poindexter (2012) predicts that millennials are
unlikely to resemble past media habits of increasingly reading print as they become older. The role of
community media More community news publications have the ability to take advantage of the
additional capabilities of the web for telling stories as a manner of drawing a new and different
audience to supplement existing print subscribers. The boundaries between print, broadcast, and
online journalism erode online, and the audience appropriated a more

Conglutinin Experiment SP D had shown the growth inhibition of E coli, Legionella pneumonia, Enterobacter aerogenes and Klebsiella pneumonia by increasing the cell membrane permeability (Wu et al., 2003) but not in the case of mycobacteria (Ariki, 2011). We performed experiment to find out either recombinant conglutinin increased the cell membrane permeability of the M. bovis BCG and as a result growth inhibited which is shown in figure 4.3. Heat treated M. bovis BCG used as a positive control. While heat treated M. bovis BCG were stained with propidium iodide, they absorb PI stained due to increased cell membrane permeability achieved with heating. It has been confirmed that M. bovis BCG coated with conglutinin does not kill mycobacteria by increasing cell membrane permeability as those bacteria does not shown the propidium iodide absorbance. From this experiment we observed that the direct effect of conglutinin is bacteriostatic rather then bactericidal, as no bacterial cell lysis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ritchie Managerial Accounting BUS 7800 Professor Achilles Ottawa University Abstract The goal of this essay is to focus on theory and implementation of the Balanced Scorecard system. Because of the structured generic approach of the methodology, the Balanced Scorecard has gained its popularity as means of evaluating performance and reporting quantitative performance results. The balanced scorecard is a strategic planning and management system that is used extensively in business and industry, government, and nonprofit organizations worldwide to align business activities to the vision and strategy of the organization, improve internal and external communications, and monitor organization performance against strategic goals (The Balanced Scorecard Institute, 2014). The Balanced Scorecard is the most prevalent and adopted of the several strategic performance tools since the early 1990s. In addition, the derivatives of the Balanced Scorecard such as Performance Prism and Results Based Management have also gained prominence in the field of strategic performance management and improvement. The Balanced Scorecard commenced as a performance management tool that incorporated strategic non financial performance measures to the conventional financial indicators in order to provide managers and company executives with a somewhat balanced view of the aspect of organizational performance. • 4. Brown Had A Lot Of Co-Plotters To Help Him With The... 1. The first of the three reasons that John Brown became a violent protester to slavery are as follows. In his mind, John believed that he was fulfilling their struggle for freedom in terms of the revolutionary soldier and puritan that he had descended from (3). In other words, the fight was already in him, he was trying to do good because he already saw what the puritans had went through to achieve their freedom. It was in his blood so to speak. The second of the three reasons is that John believed that God had called him to make do this for the slaves. John Brown was a very religious man as it talks about him going to church and evening going as far as making his children write down their sins they committed in the day. (17) The third and final reason for John browns turn to violence is the fact that he did not believe that a non violent tactic would work against the pro slavery people. The massacre of Pottawatomie was a true example of what John Brown believed was the correct way to handle this problem of slavery. 2. A performance appraisal and reward system should provide an evaluation of employees performance and motivation and establishing a clear link between efforts and reward through formalized and specified individual targets (Azzone, Palermo, 2011, p. 91). Blackrock, being inspired/based on a the real life rape and murder of schoolgirl Leigh Leigh (in Stockton, near Newcastle, Australia on 3 November 1989), provides powerful, direct, criticism of dominant Australian (male) youth culture, and highlights how seemingly harmless attitudes and ideologies can lead to the most severe ... He is mostly known for his contribution to the French railway network and the famous Eiffel Tower. Eiffel was born on December 15 in the year of 1832 in Dijon, France. Eiffel s career began to take off when he graduated from the College of Arts and Manufacturing in Paris, France in 1855. Upon graduating at the top of his class, Eiffel began to show interest in metal construction. After leaving his first job, Eiffel went on to work for Ouest, a French railway company. It was at this job that Eiffel executed his first bridge project. This 72 foot sheet iron bridge was built for the Saint Germaine Railway. Shortly after, Eiffel was able to complete his first major work, which came to be known as the Bordeaux Bridge once he began working for Compagnie Belge. Originally, this opportunity only allowed Eiffel to be in charge of the metalwork that was needed for the execution of the project. • 9. The Victims Of A Disaster Victim Identification It was the first brightening of December 26, 2004, the day after Christmas, when the ocean broke off the coast of Indonesia, storming with an archaic roar. Rising from the ocean floor, colossal waves purloined masses of land, fami¬lies of loved ones and towns of their identity. The Sumatra earthquake registered 9.4 on the Richter scale and generated a tsunami that whipped across the coast of 13 nations, causing nearly 217,000 deaths and 125,000 injuries. Victim Identification was critical to prevent issues at cultural, humanitarian and legal levels for the surviving family members and friends. It could potentially risk living people and create mental problems for victim families until their loved ones are identified and brought home. I was part of the DVI (Disaster Victim Identification) team to identify victims, and based the process upon the international Interpol DVI guidelines. Identification by means of external appearances was difficult due to the environmental conditions that quickly lead to decomposed corpses. Thus the different steps of odontology, fingerprinting, and molecular genetic investigations played a huge role in identifying the victims. The Thailand Tsunami was an open disaster, where the number and identity of victims involved was unknown as there were no prior records or descriptive data available. There were many locals as well as foreign victims from a span of 30 countries, making it arduous to estimate the confirmed number of victims after the event. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ideas Revealed Within My Last Duchess Ideas Revealed within My Last Duchess In Robert Browning s poem, My Last Duchess, the author writes of a Duke who seems to admit to murdering his last duchess. The poem starts with the Duke introducing the painting of his last duchess to an emissary. He goes on to claim that she was unfaithful and believes that she was flirting with the artist of her portrait. The Duke insists that he should be the only one that has her attention. Throughout the poem, the Duke s ego is revealed and he implies that he executed his own wife (Browning 1016 1017). My Last Duchess is filled with ambiguous claims which calls the reader to examine every possibility. This is difficult considering there is only one speaker, the Duke, in the poem. The three things that are discovered when a reader dives deeper into Browning s poem, My Last Duchess , are the dysfunction of the Duke and Duchess relationship, the reason for the Duke s vanity, and the misrepresented Duchess. Throughout the poem, many hints and clues are given that show dysfunction in the Duke s and Duchess relationship. The Duke and Duchess have a failing relationship because of childlessness and lack of communication (Hawlin 146). Browning s Duke is based off of the real Duke of Ferrara who never had any children (Gardner Duke 169). Using the molecular formula of the unknown carboxylic acid, the degree of unsaturation was calculated to be five. This number indicates that there is potentially an aromatic ring, alkene, or alkyne. However, looking at the chemical shifts in the NMR, the lack of peaks within 7 ppm + can ruled out the presence of an aromatic ring. Moreover, the lack of chemical shift around 5.3 indicates the lack of double bonds. The NMR shows 7 peaks, which were labeled as a,b,c,d,e,f, and g respectively from low ppm to high ppm. Peak a and b appears to be similar to a methyl group with shifts between .9 1.4 ppm. Since peak b is more down field, it is assumed to be closer to the carbonyl. Since a carbonyl ketone have a chemical shift around 2.1, peak c, d, e are probably connected on one of the side chains. Images of the Virgin Mary nursing Christ were originally intended not as pornography, but as visuals that depicted the nourishment of a child. The social setting of when these images emerge helps explain why these images of exposed breasts were perceived as tolerable. During the mid fourteenth century Europe experienced a severe food crisis. With the fertilities rates increasing and the food supply of the previous century depleting Europe was left to face severe famine. With this in mind one can understand why the popularity of the image of the nursing Virgin Mary grew at this time. The nursing Virgin Mary depicted an image of nutrition and stability that appealed to the people living through this unpredictable time (Miles 29). Aside from being an appealing concept to the people who were facing wide instability it also provided the church a way to drive a message. The church utilized this image as a way to promote breastfeeding among mothers. The fourteenth century Tuscan child care manuals discussed in Mile s text explained the need for this breastfeeding propaganda. The manuals were designed to warn mothers of the dangers of feeding their children milk from animals, and of wet nurses. Popular preachers even took it upon themselves to push the message of breastfeeding in their sermons. Bernardino of Siena urged maternal suckling in his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1868, John Wesley Hyatt has created a way to make billiard balls by injecting celluloid into a mold. Thus, in 1872, both John and his brother Isaiah Hyatt patented the injection molding machine. The machine was primitive and it is suitable for their purposes, where it contained a basic plunger that used to inject the plastic into a mold through a heated cylinder. In 1946, James Hendry has built the first screw injection molding machine to replace Hyatt s plunger with an auger design, where the auger built is placed inside the cylinder and mixes the injection material, before it pushing forward and injecting the material into the mold.
