Surgical Wound Dressing
During my clinical simulation laboratory session 6: wound management, we all learnt about surgical
wound dressing. However, what I found during the procedure was that maintaining sterile zone during
surgical wound dressing is very challenging: there are complex procedure to ensure sterile zone and
one simple mistake can result in restarting the whole process. Unfortunately, I made a mistake during
the procedure and had to start again; it was very frustrating and time consuming process. However,
there must be the reason behind this procedure so I decided to do some research and find out the
consequences of poor surgical asepsis for wound management procedure. The journal articles I found
had enough evidence that poor adherence to surgical asepsis

Change Management and Organizational Development
Change Management and Organizational Development

Introduction
For effective survival in the industry, adaptability is an essential component for every organization.
Every organization should change according to the external environment and influences. In adaptable
organizations, employees are given more freedom in decision making process. The management also
sets broad goals and objectives. Learning is a continual process in adaptable organizations. Change in
general refers that an act of making something innovative. Organizations have learnt that change is
ultimately a necessary component to survive in business. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Thus, by his imagination and a quest for innovation Henry Ford made many changes in his company
apart from certain resistances. Therefore for every organization s development there is a main concept
behind it, that is change. There are many approaches to manage organizational change. One of the
most popular models of change management is Action Research which is discussed below.
Action Research
According to Stephen P. Robbins, Action Research is a change process based on the systematic
collection of data and then selection of a change action based on the data indicates in the analysis.
Action Research is a five step process which includes, 1. Diagnosis Here, the change agents tries to
determine the causes for the organization s problems. Information is collected by taking interview
among the employees or searching the organizational records or by listening to employee concerns to
diagnose the nature of the problem. 2. Analysis In this stage, the change agents analyzes the data
collected in the previous stage. Through this, the change agent is able to identify different kinds of
problems. The change agent observes the similarities and differences between the problems. Then the
information is classified into three categories the
primary concerns, the problem areas and the possible resolving actions. 3. Feedback As the feedback
results form an important part in

The Road Networks Across China Essay
The map below shows an overview of the road networks across china. It is clearly understandable
from the graph that eastern part of China is mostly covered through a huge networks and channels of
roads and highways. Contrarily, the western parts of China are still to be developed though roads and
highway networks. The differences are based on the fact that the eastern parts being close to the sea
act as the main hub for transportation of tradable goods as most of the transportation is carried out
through the sea routes and harbors. The freight of tradable goods has increased enormously in recent
years and thus the economic activities and burden on the harbors and hubs have also increased to a
huge extent. As a result, the need for utilization of other means of transportation network in order to
support and bridge the increased pressure on the sea port is on top priority for the government of
China.
The figure below represents summary of the main transportation routes across China:

Roads and highways are the primary mode of transport and freight of the export and import goods
within and outside the country. Over the years, the exports and trade of China has shown a steady
increase and similarly when the data of roads and highways are analyzed the trend presents similar
positive flow. Based on the data of NBS of China, it can be assumed that there is a somehow strong

Essay On Beta Endorphins
I ve always been interested in how the brain processes things. Whether it s spending a sleepless night
trying to find the chemical way our body produces and stores memories, or trying to find out why ice
cream tastes good, I love the brain. When asked to find a research topic I wanted to do some sort of
hormone. I first chose endorphins, before realizing what a large group of hormones it was. I felt that
given its strong role in pain and mood management, understanding beta endorphins and the
mechanisms by which they worked would give me better insight into pain mechanisms and give me a
better understanding of how to mitigate pain in potential patients. While some of the information was
stuck behind medical journals with paywalls, I was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the body is subjected to stress or pain, the pituitary releases it into the bloodstream. The beta
endorphins bind to special receptors in located in the brain, spinal cord, immune system, and adrenal
glands. These receptors are known as opioid receptors and can be categorized as binding to several
different types of endorphin and opium derivative while being blocked by the chemical naloxone.
When bound to these receptors, they produce an inhibitory effect on the neural pathways for pain,
reducing the effect and perception of pain. When there is a high enough quantity in the body, this can
also cause a sensation colloquially known as runner s high . This is a euphoric state usually caused by
extreme exercise. I believe the natural glow and warm feeling that a woman has after childbirth can
also be contributed partially from the effect of beta endorphins on the body, as childbirth is one of the
most extreme things that can happy to a body. This hormone is also found in the body when we laugh,
during sex, eat spicy foods, listen to emotionally complex music, and in small amounts in the
bloodstream doing regulatory jobs. Independent of the pain reduction effects, Beta endorphins have an
interesting effect on other parts of our body

Personal Responsibility And Work Opportunity...
Teenage pregnancy may not be one of the bigger issues of the world, like war or drug abuse, but it still
holds credibility. It also does not have a high declining rate. All of the world teenagers still get
pregnant, whether it be by a small or high percentage, and the government has no way to stop it.
However, the government can control what happens afterwards, when the baby is born. Obviously,
teens would have trouble in raising a baby on their own because they are not yet adults so they need
both financial and supportive help. So the government created Acts to help and states carried out
assistance programs as well. However, there has been controversy in whether or not teenage mothers
deserve all of this help. Teenage mothers should be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Same with WIC, no help can be administered until they receive an affirmation from a parent of legal
guardian over 18 years of age (Welfare for Pregnant Teens 2009). Now analyzing these programs in a
psychological sense, they could be appealing to the masses. This fallacy states that the argument is
either true or good because the masses thinks so or does it (Schick, Jr. and Vaughn 2013). Many
people believe it is right for teenage mothers to get help after all most people think that since these
girls are underage they cannot support themselves. This thinking is also a form of fallacy known as
Hasty Generalization, or concluding a verdict on something based off of evidence applying to only a
few things (Schick, Jr. and Vaughn 2013). Although sometimes it may be true it does not mean that the
teenage mom cannot take care of her child, it just simply means that she needs some help with it is all.
With this assumption, leading into one side of the argument: these adolescent mothers should not
receive welfare payments. Staten Island Borough President James Molinaro claims that welfare
payments for teenage parents is a burden for taxpayers but it also provides an encouragement for
teenagers to have kids since they know they will be financially safe (Kriss 2013). Molinaro is not the
only one who has this opinion. Representative E. Clay Shaw also agrees that if teenage mothers did
not get money than they would be more careful when having sex (Navarro 1995). Sure this

Arguments Against Universal Health Care
In the United States many issues seem to arise during times of struggle and what some consider
unfairness. One of these being the topic of health care. As this problem popped up so did some
solutions did as well. One of these being a universal health care. That to some would seem to get rid
of all this unfair health care problem all together. However, others say that with a universal health
care, the costs would rise and the quality could rapidly degrade. Both of these sides show very true
factual evidence for their supporting claims.
As many people had supposed for quite a while now is the idea of a universal health care, an idea of
which is to give healthcare to all in a nation regardless if they pay for it or not. To some it would
completely and utterly get rid of all these bad incidents happening to many whom do not have health
care. It also would make it more equal, and instead of some getting health care, everyone would have
healthcare. There would be no need for any of these health problems most poor and some middle class
people have to face. Instead there would be health care for every person in the United States. This idea
would be highly beneficial to the poor and the ones who don t have healthcare or simply cannot afford
it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many who do not favor universal health care have some really valid and truthful points as to why it
would be a bad idea. As said the people who already have health care fear that the quality of care
would degrade and would make care quality worse. Others find it unfair to have to pay for others who
simply are too lazy or inconsiderate to work to get their own health care. As harsh it that may sound it
is considered true and would affect all those who already do pay for healthcare in a negative

The Back Bone of America
The Greatest Generation is just one of the names for this particular special group of people. They are
generally known as the G.I. (or Traditionalist) generation from the years of 1920 to 1945. Why are
they known also as the greatest generation? Because of the events that had happened during their time,
their values and work ethics would make them the greatest generation.
Events that had happened during their time that would help to make them great. They survived the
great depression and then would win the war in World War II. During the depression when the stock

Religion
The dominant religions are Shinto and Buddhism both complement each other in various ways. They
have harmonious cohabitation within the nation and promote peace and harmony. Moreover, religion
does not necessarily play a large part in the average everyday life of a Japanese person outside of
holidays and special occasions.
Trading Blocs
The Trans Pacific Partnership has been in the works between the EU and Japan since 2013 for a free
trade agreement and Non Tariff Measures in order to ease the burdens of existing trade barriers with

Effective Intervention Methods Used For The Treatment Of...
Abstract This literature review briefly examines the scholarly journal articles and research cited above.
The aim of these articles were to identify the effective intervention methods used for the treatment of
co occurring posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and substance use disorders (SUD). Although there
is much evidence to support the high rate of individuals who experience symptoms of or are diagnosed
with both PTSD and a SUD, there is little known about the comorbidity of these two disorders. There
is also little research focused on specific populations, such as veterans, who experience a high rate of
SUD diagnoses generally associated with combat PTSD. The literature also describes possible
rationale for the high rate of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Gulliver and Steffen (2010) individuals involved in treatment for symptoms of PTSD are
more likely to meet criteria for a SUD compared to the average person; the same goes for individuals
seeking treatment for a SUD in relation to a potential PTSD diagnosis. It is important to address the
needs of this population (co occurring PTSD and SUD) and develop effect treatment methods because
they often experience more severe symptoms, have lower functioning in daily activities of living, have
poorer sense of wellbeing, poorer physical health, higher rates of chronic physical pain diagnoses, and
worse treatment outcomes (Schafer Najavits, 2007; Gulliver Steffen, 2010). The development of
successful and effective treatment for co occurring PTSD and SUDs has the potential to significantly
impact the public health system by reducing costs associated with untreated or misguided treatment of
these two disorders (Gulliver Steffen, 2010). One challenge to treating this population is due to the
lack of clarity as to why the comorbidity of PTSD and SUDs frequently occur (Meisler, 1996).
Gulliver and Steffen (2010) suggest the causation of co occurrence may be due to concepts of self
medication, common vulnerability to both disorders, or the presence of one disorder increasing the
risk or likelihood

Thomas Paine s Common Sense Essay
In the work of Thomas Paine, Common Sense Paine mentions throughout of the working for a positive
government with the idea of equality. Thomas Paine writes different excerpt that give theories and
idea with the goal of implementing those ideas into a government that may be just and fair. Paine
reflects on the English constitution specifically the crown. Paine also provide an insight to having a
higher power to run a government. Paine also criticizes the idea of monarchy and hereditary
succession. Complications would ultimately arise through his ideas and theories due to the differences
in religions. Thomas Paine expresses his feelings toward the English constitution and its flaws
specifically the crown. According to Paine, because the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ultimately Thomas Paine criticized the English constitution to the fullest extent and how it is flawed
due to the power variations in government. In the previous paragraph, although Paine talked about the
flaws that come into play in a government that is run by a single ruler, he then talked about how
having a ruler may be inevitable and provides an example of how it may work. Though Paine doesn t
argue against having a ruler to the fullest extent due to the amount of oppressive that is seen through
having single rulers, he feels that there should be someone in charge but have equal power with other
parties, therefore that single person isn t in complete control. According to Paine, Let the assemblies
be annual, with a President only. The representation more equal. Their business wholly domestic, and
subject to the authority of a Continental Congress. This shows Paine s thinking on producing a
government with equality. In this example, there will be representation from all aspects and people, so
they can and will be part of the decision making as well as the President. Thomas Paine s theory on
creating a government with a higher power which is surrounded by equality can flourish due to the
elimination of oppression, tyranny, and abuse of power. Thomas Paine criticizes the idea of monarchy
and hereditary succession. Monarchy

Essay on Overview of the Chinese Zodiac
Have you ever been to a Chinese restaurant that handed you a paper with a bunch of random animals
and years on it? Most people will just throw it away and not pay that much attention to it. That little
piece of paper contains a basic information about the Chinese Zodiac just enough to get you hooked.
There are many people all over the world that very much believe in the ancient Chinese Zodiac. The
Chinese Zodiac can be helpful for finding the current Chinese year, what animal people are, and can
help make decisions. The Chinese use the lunar calendar. Although China has adopted the Gregorian
calendar in common with most other countries in the world for official and business purposes, the
traditional Chinese calendar continues to define ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each year has an animal sign and the New Year day [is known as the] division of two animals (
Chinese Zodiac ). Each Year has different names. The names are animal names. The names are rat, ox,
tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig ( Chinese Zodiac Sign ). The
animal year can be related to the ten heavenly stems and twelve earthy branches. The ten heavenly
stems and twelve earthly branches are like any other calendar. It is used to count hours, the time of
years, and months. When counting years, people use them with the 12 Chinese Zodiac [signs] . . .
(Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches). The Yellow Emperor also known as Huangdi summand Da
Rao Shi to make a calendar. Da Rao Shi created the calendar system. He studied the four seasons and
the differences between earth and sky. The year that people are born in will affect what type of animal
they will be. The year affects what type of animal they will be because the animal changes every year.
For example the Dragon started at February 5, 2000 to January 23, 2001. Then the Snake was January
24, 2001 to February 11, 2002 and so on until the twelve year cycle ends and another twelve year
cycle begins. Even the time and day will affect the animal they could be. It is important to remember
when determining the hour in which you were born, that hours are not based on local time, but in

My Favorite Time Of The Day
I wake up to Azan blaring from the loudspeaker of the mosque beside which I lie down daily to rest
my limbs. We do not have dedicated meals, you see. There is no breakfast or lunch or dinner. If the
resting of limbs aligns with a partially filled belly, I feel the day is well spent. This is my favorite time
of the day, though. Supposedly different people looking alike, with freshly groomed up bodies but
sullen faces rush about in the same direction, like the swarms of flies. I overhear their conversations
sometimes, or rather I would say complaints; complaints about the traffic, crowd or taxes. I wonder
whether they realize that they actually make up more than half of the things they complain about. For
example, the crowd. But ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I usually hit the small shops. The big ones have started putting men to keep off people like me. This
wasn t my routine though. I used to visit houses before. There was a time when they were occupied by
people more than they actually had room for. The doors were usually open, and if not for the adults,
the kids running about often handed me some coins. Now things have changed. Houses are small,
occupied by even smaller number of people. And forget about the doors, even the windows are shut
tight. So when I get no luck with the shopkeepers, which is usually the case, I lie down for a nap. The
earnings of the day are now over as I hardly get any in the evenings when the swarms of flies rush
back to their places. With faces grimmer and more sullen than the morning, I am usually pushed off
with a chiding this time. The nights are pretty with the glimmering of lights. I like to sit alone near the
pond overly grown with vegetation and observe the shinning bulbs all over the city while I have my
supper. There are more like me, hidden in open visibility among the roads, bridges and sides of stalls.
We are ghosts to the people behind those lights, floating around with no destination, occasionally
making their presence known for some coins before disappearing into the luminous darkness. I slowly
walk back to my resting place as the most of those glimmering lights go off and shop shutters go
down. As I lie down and close my eyes, I hope to pop up in the fiction land

Essay about Breaking Night
Obstacles to Overcome and Mistakes to Forgive It is fascinating when two people from completely
different backgrounds have common characteristics. A world of poverty is depicted in Liz Murray s
book Breaking Night (2010). The memoir tells the struggles of a young girl s journey from living on
the city streets to attending one of the top schools in the country. Although our lives are quite different,
Liz Murray and I show similar traits through struggle and success. Murray must over come many
struggles in her life. Thanks to her persistence, she makes it to her final goal and is able to get over
these struggles along the way. For example, Murray decides that she wants to finish high school and

The author and I both have a quality that helps us overcome difficult situations and to push through
them while others may give up. I acknowledge that the problems I face everyday may not be as severe
as Murray s; however, the idea is still the same. Another characteristic the author exhibits is
forgiveness. The struggles her parents cause her display this trait. For instance, Ma constantly neglects
Murray as a child. Drugs and alcohol consume the parent s lives, so Murray and her older sister do not
receive the proper care they need. Also, Ma frequently spent her daughter s money or sold their items
without their consent. The readers are astonished when the author says many times that she forgives
Ma and just moves on. An important scene in the story occurs when Murray looks back on her
childhood and forgives her mom for all of her wrongs, and concludes her mom did the best that she
could do. Many people would resent their parents after all the hardships they caused, and so does the
author at first. But she finds it in her heart to forgive which shows her kindness and really displays
how mature of a person she is. Although at different points in our life, Murray and I both have
forgiveness. When I was young, my little brother was assigned to watch my fish while I was at
summer camp. After a week of fun I came home to a sad loss. My brother had neglected the fish and
the task at hand. With no food and no clean water, the fish had died by the

Wildlife Welfare In Wildlife
Welfare in Wildlife For decades in America, a collision between environmental conservation and
urbanization has placed natural habitats and wildlife at risk. Today, in regions such as the Rio Grande
Valley, 95 percent of native habitat has been negatively affected by or lost to human activities such as
water diversions, agriculture, industrialization, and urbanization (USGS 7). This habitat serves as
crucial landscape to species that make the R.G.V. their northern and southern most points in migratory
and nonmigratory patterns. Unfortunately, environmental concern is often disregarded, resulting in a
decrease of wildlife populations that has led to threatened and endangered species. Because of this,
greater efforts must be made by conservation organizations to restore and preserve native habitat, thus
promoting wildlife welfare. As a conservationist for the U.S Department of Interior, my regards
towards wildlife welfare in public and private lands is strongly supported by scientific research,
economic impact, and legislature. Current administrative actions, however, have been amongst the
most threatening in years for environmental efforts, partly due to administrative disregard for
environmental changes and impacts. After the reassignment of department secretaries earlier this year,
republicans have introduced more than 60 bills attacking public lands, weakening environmental
safeguards on those lands, or turning over their control to states and local governments

the city. Some famous TV shows were filmed in Dallas, Texas like Prison Break and Dallas. The
episode of the TV show Dallas is famous for the episode titled Who Done It which remains the second

The House Of The Seven Gabless Analysis
Salem State University professor, Aviva Chomsky, spoke at the House of the Seven Gables, on
Thursday Sept. 14, about the 1933 Pequot Mills Strike, and its connection to modern labor issues
facing the U.S. today. The House of the Seven Gables welcomed back Chomsky, as a guest speaker,
for the final presentation of their ongoing speaker series, Life and Labor over Four Centuries at the
House of the Seven Gables. Ana Nuncio, Settlement Programs Manager at the House of Seven Gables
said, The Gables is proud to include professor Avi Chomsky in its roster of speakers this year, and that
Chomsky is an engaging speaker with much to say on topics that are relevant to our Salem
community, such as labor issues and immigrant rights.
Chomsky s talk on the 1933 Pequot mills strike, now the site of Shetland Park, chronicled the issues
faced by the mostly immigrant workers, of automation, productivity, unemployment, and wage
disparity that still face the workers of today.
The workers of the Pequot mills were Irish, French Canadian, and Polish immigrants that resided
mostly in the Point Neighborhood of Salem. These immigrant workers were prompted to strike due to
issues of unemployment and forced increased productivity caused by new innovations in loom
technology.
Chomsky described how, One mill worker could now run 1,000 looms instead of just one, leaving 999
mill workers unemployed. With communist party influence, and concern for the working class, the
mill workers struck in 1933. This strike influenced all of Salem as almost half of all residents were
employed by the Pequot mills. The mill workers met to discuss the strike at the Saltonstall school, and
marched down Lafayette Street in protest of the unfair labor conditions and wages.
Chomsky highlighted the solidary of the mill workers by showing a document created by the strikers
that said, If we lose this strike, all textile workers will be effected. Chomsky pointed out that even then
people were thinking about the global influence of workers rights.
The Pequot mills strike, were finally resolved when President Roosevelt sent mediators to reach a
consensus between the striking workers, and the employers. The Pequot mills strike and the worker s

We have often heard the phrase it takes a village to raise a kid, now we are learning it takes a

What consist of or can be seen as the factors of a learning community? According to Richard DuFour
a professional learning community starts with a three big ideas. First, ensuring that students learn.
DuFour sees the core mission of education is to not simply ensure that students are taught, but to
ensure they learn. By looking at what we want each student to learn, evaluating how we know when
that learning as occurred, and how we respond to difficulties in learning. Secondly, DuFour sees a
leaning community as having a culture of collaboration. The community of professional leaners
working together to collaborate for school improvement, and removing barriers for success. Not as
DuFour points out a misconception of the term collaboration which if often perceived as building
camaraderie. DuFour explains collaboration as the actual engagement strgerty of working together.
Lastly, DuFour points out that a community of professional learners needs to focus on results.
Proverbs 9:9, Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a righteous man, and he
will increase in learning . The collaboration in a community of learners presents itself with the
opportunities for instruction and to increase in our learning. A professional community of learners

The Case Of Amelia Earhart
History sucks. I do not mean the events that have taken place. I mean the gibberish one often has to
sort through to get to the truth about an event. The internet is useful for research, and often provides
instant access to necessary information. Considering how vast the internet is however, and the
questionable relevance of the information it contains, it just might be wise to proceed at your own risk.
Approaching internet sources, and any source for that matter, can be summarized with this: use
extreme caution.
Because of the dangers of misinformation, learning how to investigate and not rely upon
generalizations and conspiracies about historical events and people is necessary in an age where
instant information is a best seller. In the case of Amelia Earhart, so many ideas and conspiracies
convolute the true events surrounding her disappearance. For this reason, historical accuracy is
absolutely necessary if one is to reach a logical conclusion about her demise. As George Santayana
says, Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it 1. But I posit this: remembering
the past is useless if we opt to only take it at face value. If being complacent with simple summaries
becomes habit, we will shirk investigating more important issues. In fact, for all Amelia Earhart s
contributions to aviation, and more importantly the boundaries she broke within her society, we owe it
to ourselves to fully investigate. Often we do not fully appreciate

were going to watch a musical I thought, oh cool it s going to be like Phantom of the Opera , or High
School Musical , but it wasn t like that at all. The costumes were pretty cool and the special effects
were really awesome. I thought it was going to be really boring and dry, but there were some funny
parts. I love the way Sondheim tied the sarcasm in with the release of tension and lesions.
James Lapine wrote the book for Into the Woods he is an American stage director, filmmaker,
playwright, screenwriter, and librettist. He graduated from Franklin and Marshal College and did a
graduate study at the California Institute of the Arts. He has won many Tony Awards, and Drama Desk
Awards; he also won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and the Peabody Award. In 2010 he was inducted
into the American Theater Hall of Fame. Besides collaborating with Sondheim he also collaborated
with William Finn. Stephen Sondheim was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jack shows growth in realizing two wrongs don t make a right, stealing is wrong, and that you re never
alone. The Baker realized he should have appreciated his wife more and done more to help her with
the baby. Cinderella realized that looks can be deceiving, and that it may not be better on the other
side. They all learned to be careful what they wished for. The show is a dark musical so it has twist
and most of the play is sung where if it s a straight play it s talking. There wouldn t have been any of
the big show stopper numbers like at the end of each scene. When the witch died was a big show
stopper, and when the backer talked to his died dad. When the baker s wife sung about her affair with
Cinderella s prince it would have been a soliloquy, as well as, the songs called agony one and agony
two where the princes sing about their love for their princesses, and wanting what they can t

The Music Of The Children s Chorus Of Crane ( Ccc )
I love music and I have dedicated a lot of my time to what I love. I have been in the Children s Chorus
of Crane (CCC), played piano, and been in the Clarkson Golden Knotes a cappella group. From all of
these musical experiences, I learned to become a better musician. I learned that the benefit of
producing music outweighs the time and dedication I must put into it. I have experienced the
satisfaction of performing music for other s enjoyment. These are talents I will be able to take with me
forever.
When I was younger, I was in the CCC from 3rd grade to 10th grade. I learned dedication. I was only
nine years old when I started singing in the choir once a week for two hours straight. I learned what
was expected at a very formal concert. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

RELIGION
Although I am not very religious, I attended the Unitarian Universalist Church of Canton starting in
2nd grade. This year I was much less active, but I still kept in touch with the church youth group. I
take to heart the U.U. church principles. The seven principles overlap the values I have been taught at
home, and that LRCS practices. I also admire how religion can bring people of all ages into one caring
community. I value the connections I have made and the members of the church have been very
supportive of me.
SUPPORT SYSTEM
My strong support system is the main reason I feel prepared to graduate high school and begin
college. family and friends
FAMILY
My family has been nothing but supportive, loving, and caring. They taught me the value of love from
a young age. My parents taught me right from wrong, and my sister taught me to hold my temper.
These three people are my mentors, my family, and my best friends.
FRIENDS
I have been extremely lucky, I have become very close to my small circle of friends. I am graduating
with Nora Bradford and Gwen Smith, two of my longest lasting friendships. I also have stayed best

Theories Of Explaining Behavior Through Observation
Adolescent Psychology Term Paper
Jamila Williams
Tuskegee University
Behavioral psychology is based on the concept of explaining behavior through observation.
Behaviorists, psychologist that study behavior, believe a person can be understood through observing
their behavior. This school of psychology assumes that we are born as a blank state and everyone is
equal. However, environmental factors are what leads to us behaving differently from one another.
American Psychologist and Founder of Behaviorism John B. Watson studied the ultimate goal to
provide basis for prediction and control of human beings acquired through conditioning. Conditioning
occurs through interaction with the environment. Scientist strongly believe that individuals respond to
an environmental stimulus that shapes our actions. Russian Physiologist Ivan Pavlov and American
Psychologist and Behaviorist B. F. Skinner broke down conditioning into two types: classical
conditioning and operant conditioning.
Classical conditioning is a behavioral intervention technique by means of two stimuli being paired
together in a consistent pattern to result in the same behavioral response. Pavlov was looking at
salivation in dogs in response to being fed. His notion was that dogs can be taught to do certain things,
for example dogs salivating when they see food. Operant conditioning is a similar technique that aims
on the association between voluntary behavior and consequences. Skinner believed that subjects

Gene Expression And Its Engineering
Introduction Transformation is the process of allowing a cell to be able to accept a gene into itself and
allow the gene to become part of the cell s whole, thus changing its form and expressing the gene s
function. This process was first discovered by the British bacteriologist Frederick Griffith, who was
able to transform Streptococcus pneumoniae into a different strain of Strep. in 1928 (1928). This
discovery was pivotal in the way we understand gene expression and its engineering. An example of
genetic engineering using transformation that applies to everyday life is the synthesizing of human
insulin, which is a peptide hormone that helps to regulate the amount of sugar that runs through the
bloodstream. In the early 1900s, insulin from other animals was used to treat diabetes, but human
insulin is now able to be easily produced in bulk through genetic engineering, and has largely replaced
animal insulin for the treatment of diabetes. Insulin is made from cells in the pancreas, and the
extraction of insulin from animals used to require taking it directly from the animal s pancreas glands.
It was not until 1977 that synthetic human insulin was genetically engineered by Arthur Riggs and
Keiichi Itakura, and was achieved by the process of transformation using Escherichia coli as a host
(1977), which allowed for the easy reproduction of human insulin. Using this method, the production
of human insulin became large scale, faster, cheaper, and more accessible. A weakened

Examples Of Microtransactions
So what exactly are microtransactions? Microtransactions can be defined as the exchange of real
money for virtual goods. It is a system where users can purchase virtual goods via micropayments.
hence the term microtransaction ( Microtransaction 2017.) This type of business model is common in
free to play games and is typically used to speed up progression within the game itself. However,
some developers have decided to incorporate microtransactions despite customers already paying the
full price for the game. While this is not necessarily an issue if the goods are cosmetic and have no
effect on the core gameplay, it is an issue if it provides users who pay for offered goods with an unfair
advantage over free to play players. One might ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my opinion, this was a blatant money grab by EA and in no way ethical because they were not
acting in the interest of their clients (the users) and utilizing us as a means to an end. They could have
made the same game sans the microtransactions and have made a reasonable profit from the cost of
the base game itself, but instead chose to make a greedy decision to increase profit margins for what
would have been a successful game regardless. Had I been the one to make the decision, I would have
lowered the time sink required to unlock heroes by a substantial amount, and limited the
microtransactions to cosmetic items. That way, the needs of the customers would have been satisfied,
but the company would have still made more profit than it normally would. In summary, the decision
was not ethical because they acted against the interest of the customers and instead decided to further
their own profits. To understand why microtransactions have become so prevalent one has to
understand the history of them first. Microtransactions date as far back as early 2005 with the release
of the Xbox Live Marketplace. Back then, players could purchase virtual goods such

Unraveling The Enigma Of Christopher Mccandless
Unraveling the Enigma of Christopher McCandless Throughout the novel, Into the Wild, Jon Krakauer
sincerely disentangles the haunting enigma of Chris McCandless. By tracing the places, people and
experiences intertwined in the life of McCandless, Krakauer narrates the life story of a puzzling
corpse found in a bus buried in the Alaskan frontier in a truly authentic way of storytelling. Although
Krakauer inserts direct quotes from people who McCandless came into direct contact with and experts
from primary source journals, Krakauer s own voice in the narration of the dead man s life is
trustworthy due to the similarities the protagonist and the author share. Common connections such as
similar paternal stress made outstanding impacts in both men s lives, starting at a young age.
Furthermore, a sort of agitation with the soul ailed Krakauer and McCandless fueled by a reckless
persona confined in the modern world. Lastly, a craving for human contact when in total isolation
troubled both the author and subject in their adventures narrowed in the natural world. The mutual
bond apparent to the reader between Krakauer and McCandless makes the writing in the novel sincere
enabling Krakauer to speak of a dead s man life with profound authority and truth. Unconditional
understanding through shared paternal issues, agitation of the soul, and need for human contact grants
Krakauer access to divulge into the conundrum of Chis McCandless and authority to earnestly narrate
the mysterious

Comparing The Yellow Wallpaper And A Pair Of Silk Stockings
The stories A Pair of Silk Stockings , The Story of an Hour and The Yellow Wallpaper are similar in
multiple ways although they also contrast from each other. All three stories were published in the 1890
s and all shared a similar theme which was related to the time period. Comparing and contrasting the
stories maintain and vary from each other on components such as the theme, setting, and main
characters which will be scrutinized in the following. The story A Pair of Silk Stockings consists of
the Mrs. Sommers, the main character, receives fifteen dollars and decides to go spend the money on
clothing for her children. Before beginning to shop , Mrs. Sommers sees some silk stockings and is
intrigued by them. She buys the stockings instead of buying the clothes for her children. Mrs.
Sommers then continues to shop for herself as she goes to the shoe store to a buy a pair of boots, eats
at a nice restaurant leaving a tip, and then proceeds to go to a theater and watch a play. After her
expensive expedition, Mrs. Sommers she returns home on an expensive train. ... Show more content

Weight Loss Supplements On The Market Essay
Okay, so there really is no mystery about weight loss supplements. In this day and age, anyone of
average intelligence or better knows that weight loss supplements are worthless. Sadly, it does not
seem to be so. Suppliers of weight loss supplements are still making millions of unethical dollars, and
purchasers of these products are still waddling away disappointed with the results. Hope springs
eternal, I guess. When it comes to losing weight, we all want to take that magic pill that will shed
those unwanted pounds without having to sacrifice our beloved food or having to suffer through the
rigors of consistent exercise. And there is always someone trying to tell you that that magic pill
actually does exist, and that for a few measly dollars they will be happy to sell it to you. It doesn t
exist, so save your money. If you still believe in those magic pills, check the instructions of any weight
loss supplement on the market. Each and every one of them that I have seen has listed as the most
important part of the instructions to eat less and exercise more in combination with the miracle drug.
Um ... if you eat less and exercise more, is it really necessary to put some foreign substance in your
body? Won t you simply lose weight from eating less and exercising more? Sure you will. If it were
easy to eat less and exercise more, nobody would be looking for that magic pill. But that magic pill
can t even pretend to work if you don t eat less and exercise more. Hmm. Some

The Applicability Of Marx And Marxian Theory Essay
Assessing The Applicability of Marx and Marxian Theory across the Economically Developed world
of Europe, Japan, and America and the Relationship Between Capital, Labor, and Government across
the Industrial Revolution, Depression, and Postwar Reconstruction.
By: Charles Jonah Wendt
The countries of France, United States, Japan and Germany all have a very diverse and unique history.
However, one thing that undoubtably unites all of these great countries together is that they all engage
in a capitalistic economic system. While there are many things that can be discussed about these
various countries, in the scope of this class, in which we interrogate the ideas of Marx and Weber, one
question can be had. The question is not whether these countries are capitalistic, but rather how
applicable are the theories of Marx and Marxians to these specific countries.
Marx s opinion of capitalism can simply be reduced to one formula and theory, the Theory of Surplus
Value. This formula is SV=PC SW. Spelled out this means that surplus value equals the price of the
commodity minus a subsistence wage. Marx believes that this theory serves as the foundation of
economic structures. However, this one formula is not Marx s entire theory. Marx continues his theory
beyond this formula to discuss the interaction between the actors in society. Marx determines that
there are three actors in society. These actors are government, capital, and workers. In his theory marx
discusses how private

Security And Application Software Within A School...
In this report, I will be discussing operating systems, management of information, security and
application software within a school environment and personal use. The context of this report will be
inclusive of my internal assessments of which I have completed at school, and at home. Operating
software (OS) An operating system has the ability to manage both the hardware and software of a
computer or device. It is the most important part of a computer and controls every action and task
which is carried out. Computers and devices require both hardware and software for it to operate.
Without one, you will not have a functioning machine. All desktops utilise operating systems, of
which the software (or OS) is a collection of code installed onto the computer s hard drive and is
intangible. It includes the computer programs, folders, files and documents. The internet browser, like
Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome that allows you to visit online web pages and the operating system
that the browser is running on is considered software, while computer hardware is any physical device
used in or with your computer or machine. It is something you can physically touch. Examples of
hardware include a mouse, monitor, keyboard and motherboards. The interfaces of applications,
device management, processor management, memory management, user interface and storage
management are the six main tasks controller by the operating system. When saving to a USB stick or
external hard drive, as

Things to Consider when Starting and Running a Business
There are many things to consider when starting and running a business. You must decide what type of
business you would like to operate, including the different business structures, legal forms and permits
that must be obtained, zoning laws, tax laws, and the liability you may expose yourself to. If you have
a business with employees, you may need to decide if you want to hire non union or union members.
You will also need to research the many banking and financial institutions as you want to make sure
your money is well protected. The different types of business structures include sole proprietorships,
partnerships, and corporations. These business structures also offer different options within
themselves. A business that is owned and managed by a single individual is a sole proprietorship.
There are three categories of a partnership general partnerships, limited partnerships, and limited
liability partnerships. A corporation can be closely held or publicly held. Let us see what the
advantages and disadvantages are for these different business structures. The advantage of being a sole
proprietorship is that the person who owns it is able to make all the decisions on his own; he doesn t
need to consult with anyone. It is also easy to establish a sole proprietorship. There are a small number
of requirements that must be met and can vary from city to city and state to state. Sole proprietors
must meet the minimum requirements authorization, site permit and

Domestic Atmosphere In King Henry V
King Henry V s depiction of English nationalism amidst its battle between France showcases the
glorification of war. However, despite the play s emphasis on combat and victory, King Henry V, also
presents a strong unification of the charater s seeking or protecting for what they call home. For many
of the play s characters, the domestic sphere represents an ideal space to which they will return to or
represent though their interactions. The domestic sphere intercedes onto the battlefield providing
context as to what the characters are fighting and dying for. The play s commoners use the tavern as a
domestic sphere which is a reoccurring setting for characters like Pistol and Bardolph. It provides an
ideal atmosphere for their interactions during times of peace as the tavern also functions as the plays
comic relief for Acts II and III in the play. For example, upon entering the tavern, The Hostess makes
reference that she does not house a dozen or fourteen gentlewomen because then people would assume
the establishment as a brothel which is then interrupted with Nym unsheathing his sword (158 159).
The whole scene deals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through Acts I through IV, we can see instances of Henry s motivations for starting the war with
France as matters of pride or even Manifest Destiny. However, it is in Act V that we see the fruits of
Henry s labors as the reward for his siege on France is to marry the King s daughter which fully
integrates King Henry s life into the domestic sphere. King Henry s infaution of Katherine which
starts with O fair Katharine, if you will love me soundly with your French heart, I will be glad to hear
you confess it brokenly with your English tongue provides a strange contrast to Henry s battle ready
speeches of Act IV (352 353). Shortly after King Henry s romantic advances on Katharine, the King of

LSD Synthesis Essay
Ever since the beginning of Nixon s War on Drugs, psychoactive substances have been given a bad
rap. This is especially true for psychedelics like LSD, psilocybin (the psychoactive compound found
in magic mushrooms), dimethyltryptamine (DMT), and of course the list could go on and on. But as
research has recently begun again on these compounds, scientists are finding more and more reason
for these substances to be reevaluated. In addition to helping with anxiety and depression,
psychedelics are today most well known for their effects on the brain s creativity levels. In light of
this, should psychedelics be evaluated and considered for legal use in society, as a tool for all of us,
and especially artists, to increase our creativity? The Birth of LSD Albert Hofmann was a German
scientist who began working at the Sandoz Pharmaceuticals research laboratory in Basel, Switzerland,
in 1929. According to his own writing in The Discovery of LSD and Subsequent Investigations on
Naturally Occurring Hallucinogens, he had been working on various pharmaceutical substances,
extracted from ergot fungus. He discovered drugs that lowered blood pressure, and others that

  • 2. Surgical Wound Dressing During my clinical simulation laboratory session 6: wound management, we all learnt about surgical wound dressing. However, what I found during the procedure was that maintaining sterile zone during surgical wound dressing is very challenging: there are complex procedure to ensure sterile zone and one simple mistake can result in restarting the whole process. Unfortunately, I made a mistake during the procedure and had to start again; it was very frustrating and time consuming process. However, there must be the reason behind this procedure so I decided to do some research and find out the consequences of poor surgical asepsis for wound management procedure. The journal articles I found had enough evidence that poor adherence to surgical asepsis ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Therefore for every organization s development there is a main concept behind it, that is change. There are many approaches to manage organizational change. One of the most popular models of change management is Action Research which is discussed below. Action Research According to Stephen P. Robbins, Action Research is a change process based on the systematic collection of data and then selection of a change action based on the data indicates in the analysis. Action Research is a five step process which includes, 1. Diagnosis Here, the change agents tries to determine the causes for the organization s problems. • 4. The Road Networks Across China Essay The map below shows an overview of the road networks across china. It is clearly understandable from the graph that eastern part of China is mostly covered through a huge networks and channels of roads and highways. Contrarily, the western parts of China are still to be developed though roads and highway networks. The differences are based on the fact that the eastern parts being close to the sea act as the main hub for transportation of tradable goods as most of the transportation is carried out through the sea routes and harbors. The freight of tradable goods has increased enormously in recent years and thus the economic activities and burden on the harbors and hubs have also increased to a huge extent. As a result, the need for utilization of other means of transportation network in order to support and bridge the increased pressure on the sea port is on top priority for the government of China. The figure below represents summary of the main transportation routes across China: Figure 1 Transportation routes in China4 4 Source: http//en.wikipedia.org 10 Roads and highways are the primary mode of transport and freight of the export and import goods within and outside the country. • 5. Essay On Beta Endorphins I ve always been interested in how the brain processes things. Whether it s spending a sleepless night trying to find the chemical way our body produces and stores memories, or trying to find out why ice cream tastes good, I love the brain. When asked to find a research topic I wanted to do some sort of hormone. I first chose endorphins, before realizing what a large group of hormones it was. I felt that given its strong role in pain and mood management, understanding beta endorphins and the mechanisms by which they worked would give me better insight into pain mechanisms and give me a better understanding of how to mitigate pain in potential patients. While some of the information was stuck behind medical journals with paywalls, I was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the body is subjected to stress or pain, the pituitary releases it into the bloodstream. The beta endorphins bind to special receptors in located in the brain, spinal cord, immune system, and adrenal glands. These receptors are known as opioid receptors and can be categorized as binding to several different types of endorphin and opium derivative while being blocked by the chemical naloxone. When bound to these receptors, they produce an inhibitory effect on the neural pathways for pain, reducing the effect and perception of pain. When there is a high enough quantity in the body, this can also cause a sensation colloquially known as runner s high . This is a euphoric state usually caused by extreme exercise. I believe the natural glow and warm feeling that a woman has after childbirth can also be contributed partially from the effect of beta endorphins on the body, as childbirth is one of the most extreme things that can happy to a body. This hormone is also found in the body when we laugh, during sex, eat spicy foods, listen to emotionally complex music, and in small amounts in the bloodstream doing regulatory jobs. • 6. Personal Responsibility And Work Opportunity... Teenage pregnancy may not be one of the bigger issues of the world, like war or drug abuse, but it still holds credibility. It also does not have a high declining rate. All of the world teenagers still get pregnant, whether it be by a small or high percentage, and the government has no way to stop it. However, the government can control what happens afterwards, when the baby is born. Obviously, teens would have trouble in raising a baby on their own because they are not yet adults so they need both financial and supportive help. So the government created Acts to help and states carried out assistance programs as well. However, there has been controversy in whether or not teenage mothers deserve all of this help. Teenage mothers should be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Same with WIC, no help can be administered until they receive an affirmation from a parent of legal guardian over 18 years of age (Welfare for Pregnant Teens 2009). Now analyzing these programs in a psychological sense, they could be appealing to the masses. This fallacy states that the argument is either true or good because the masses thinks so or does it (Schick, Jr. and Vaughn 2013). Many people believe it is right for teenage mothers to get help after all most people think that since these girls are underage they cannot support themselves. This thinking is also a form of fallacy known as Hasty Generalization, or concluding a verdict on something based off of evidence applying to only a few things (Schick, Jr. and Vaughn 2013). Although sometimes it may be true it does not mean that the teenage mom cannot take care of her child, it just simply means that she needs some help with it is all. With this assumption, leading into one side of the argument: these adolescent mothers should not receive welfare payments. Staten Island Borough President James Molinaro claims that welfare payments for teenage parents is a burden for taxpayers but it also provides an encouragement for teenagers to have kids since they know they will be financially safe (Kriss 2013). Molinaro is not the only one who has this opinion. Representative E. Clay Shaw also agrees that if teenage mothers did not get money than they would be more careful when having sex (Navarro 1995). • 7. Arguments Against Universal Health Care In the United States many issues seem to arise during times of struggle and what some consider unfairness. One of these being the topic of health care. As this problem popped up so did some solutions did as well. One of these being a universal health care. That to some would seem to get rid of all this unfair health care problem all together. However, others say that with a universal health care, the costs would rise and the quality could rapidly degrade. Both of these sides show very true factual evidence for their supporting claims. As many people had supposed for quite a while now is the idea of a universal health care, an idea of which is to give healthcare to all in a nation regardless if they pay for it or not. To some it would completely and utterly get rid of all these bad incidents happening to many whom do not have health care. It also would make it more equal, and instead of some getting health care, everyone would have healthcare. There would be no need for any of these health problems most poor and some middle class people have to face. Instead there would be health care for every person in the United States. The aim of these articles were to identify the effective intervention methods used for the treatment of co occurring posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and substance use disorders (SUD). Although there is much evidence to support the high rate of individuals who experience symptoms of or are diagnosed with both PTSD and a SUD, there is little known about the comorbidity of these two disorders. There is also little research focused on specific populations, such as veterans, who experience a high rate of SUD diagnoses generally associated with combat PTSD. The literature also describes possible rationale for the high rate of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Gulliver and Steffen (2010) individuals involved in treatment for symptoms of PTSD are more likely to meet criteria for a SUD compared to the average person; the same goes for individuals seeking treatment for a SUD in relation to a potential PTSD diagnosis. It is important to address the needs of this population (co occurring PTSD and SUD) and develop effect treatment methods because they often experience more severe symptoms, have lower functioning in daily activities of living, have poorer sense of wellbeing, poorer physical health, higher rates of chronic physical pain diagnoses, and worse treatment outcomes (Schafer Najavits, 2007; Gulliver Steffen, 2010). The development of successful and effective treatment for co occurring PTSD and SUDs has the potential to significantly impact the public health system by reducing costs associated with untreated or misguided treatment of these two disorders (Gulliver Steffen, 2010). One challenge to treating this population is due to the lack of clarity as to why the comorbidity of PTSD and SUDs frequently occur (Meisler, 1996). Gulliver and Steffen (2010) suggest the causation of co occurrence may be due to concepts of self medication, common vulnerability to both disorders, or the presence of one disorder increasing the risk or likelihood ... In the previous paragraph, although Paine talked about the flaws that come into play in a government that is run by a single ruler, he then talked about how having a ruler may be inevitable and provides an example of how it may work. Though Paine doesn t argue against having a ruler to the fullest extent due to the amount of oppressive that is seen through having single rulers, he feels that there should be someone in charge but have equal power with other parties, therefore that single person isn t in complete control. According to Paine, Let the assemblies be annual, with a President only. The representation more equal. Their business wholly domestic, and subject to the authority of a Continental Congress. This shows Paine s thinking on producing a government with equality. Drugs and alcohol consume the parent s lives, so Murray and her older sister do not receive the proper care they need. Also, Ma frequently spent her daughter s money or sold their items without their consent. The readers are astonished when the author says many times that she forgives Ma and just moves on. • 15. Wildlife Welfare In Wildlife Welfare in Wildlife For decades in America, a collision between environmental conservation and urbanization has placed natural habitats and wildlife at risk. Today, in regions such as the Rio Grande Valley, 95 percent of native habitat has been negatively affected by or lost to human activities such as water diversions, agriculture, industrialization, and urbanization (USGS 7). This habitat serves as crucial landscape to species that make the R.G.V. their northern and southern most points in migratory and nonmigratory patterns. Unfortunately, environmental concern is often disregarded, resulting in a decrease of wildlife populations that has led to threatened and endangered species. Because of this, greater efforts must be made by conservation organizations to restore and preserve native habitat, thus promoting wildlife welfare. As a conservationist for the U.S Department of Interior, my regards towards wildlife welfare in public and private lands is strongly supported by scientific research, economic impact, and legislature. Current administrative actions, however, have been amongst the most threatening in years for environmental efforts, partly due to administrative disregard for environmental changes and impacts. After the reassignment of department secretaries earlier this year, republicans have introduced more than 60 bills attacking public lands, weakening environmental safeguards on those lands, or turning over their control to states and local governments ... The House Of The Seven Gabless Analysis Salem State University professor, Aviva Chomsky, spoke at the House of the Seven Gables, on Thursday Sept. 14, about the 1933 Pequot Mills Strike, and its connection to modern labor issues facing the U.S. today. The House of the Seven Gables welcomed back Chomsky, as a guest speaker, for the final presentation of their ongoing speaker series, Life and Labor over Four Centuries at the House of the Seven Gables. Ana Nuncio, Settlement Programs Manager at the House of Seven Gables said, The Gables is proud to include professor Avi Chomsky in its roster of speakers this year, and that Chomsky is an engaging speaker with much to say on topics that are relevant to our Salem community, such as labor issues and immigrant rights. Chomsky s talk on the 1933 Pequot mills strike, now the site of Shetland Park, chronicled the issues faced by the mostly immigrant workers, of automation, productivity, unemployment, and wage disparity that still face the workers of today. The workers of the Pequot mills were Irish, French Canadian, and Polish immigrants that resided mostly in the Point Neighborhood of Salem. These immigrant workers were prompted to strike due to issues of unemployment and forced increased productivity caused by new innovations in loom technology. Chomsky described how, One mill worker could now run 1,000 looms instead of just one, leaving 999 mill workers unemployed. With communist party influence, and concern for the working class, the mill workers struck in 1933. This strike influenced all of Salem as almost half of all residents were employed by the Pequot mills. The mill workers met to discuss the strike at the Saltonstall school, and marched down Lafayette Street in protest of the unfair labor conditions and wages. Chomsky highlighted the solidary of the mill workers by showing a document created by the strikers that said, If we lose this strike, all textile workers will be effected. Chomsky pointed out that even then people were thinking about the global influence of workers rights. The Pequot mills strike, were finally resolved when President Roosevelt sent mediators to reach a consensus between the striking workers, and the employers. DuFour sees the core mission of education is to not simply ensure that students are taught, but to ensure they learn. By looking at what we want each student to learn, evaluating how we know when that learning as occurred, and how we respond to difficulties in learning. Secondly, DuFour sees a leaning community as having a culture of collaboration. The community of professional leaners working together to collaborate for school improvement, and removing barriers for success. • 19. The Case Of Amelia Earhart History sucks. I do not mean the events that have taken place. I mean the gibberish one often has to sort through to get to the truth about an event. The internet is useful for research, and often provides instant access to necessary information. Considering how vast the internet is however, and the questionable relevance of the information it contains, it just might be wise to proceed at your own risk. Approaching internet sources, and any source for that matter, can be summarized with this: use extreme caution. Because of the dangers of misinformation, learning how to investigate and not rely upon generalizations and conspiracies about historical events and people is necessary in an age where instant information is a best seller. In the case of Amelia Earhart, so many ideas and conspiracies convolute the true events surrounding her disappearance. For this reason, historical accuracy is absolutely necessary if one is to reach a logical conclusion about her demise. As George Santayana says, Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it 1. But I posit this: remembering the past is useless if we opt to only take it at face value. If being complacent with simple summaries becomes habit, we will shirk investigating more important issues. In fact, for all Amelia Earhart s contributions to aviation, and more importantly the boundaries she broke within her society, we owe it to ourselves to fully investigate. • 21. The Music Of The Children s Chorus Of Crane ( Ccc ) I love music and I have dedicated a lot of my time to what I love. I have been in the Children s Chorus of Crane (CCC), played piano, and been in the Clarkson Golden Knotes a cappella group. From all of these musical experiences, I learned to become a better musician. I learned that the benefit of producing music outweighs the time and dedication I must put into it. I have experienced the satisfaction of performing music for other s enjoyment. These are talents I will be able to take with me forever. When I was younger, I was in the CCC from 3rd grade to 10th grade. I learned dedication. I was only nine years old when I started singing in the choir once a week for two hours straight. • 22. Theories Of Explaining Behavior Through Observation Adolescent Psychology Term Paper Jamila Williams Tuskegee University Behavioral psychology is based on the concept of explaining behavior through observation. Behaviorists, psychologist that study behavior, believe a person can be understood through observing their behavior. This school of psychology assumes that we are born as a blank state and everyone is equal. However, environmental factors are what leads to us behaving differently from one another. American Psychologist and Founder of Behaviorism John B. Watson studied the ultimate goal to provide basis for prediction and control of human beings acquired through conditioning. Conditioning occurs through interaction with the environment. Scientist strongly believe that individuals respond to an environmental stimulus that shapes our actions. Russian Physiologist Ivan Pavlov and American Psychologist and Behaviorist B. F. Skinner broke down conditioning into two types: classical conditioning and operant conditioning. Classical conditioning is a behavioral intervention technique by means of two stimuli being paired together in a consistent pattern to result in the same behavioral response. Pavlov was looking at salivation in dogs in response to being fed. His notion was that dogs can be taught to do certain things, for example dogs salivating when they see food. Operant conditioning is a similar technique that aims on the association between voluntary behavior and consequences. Skinner believed that subjects ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. Gene Expression And Its Engineering Introduction Transformation is the process of allowing a cell to be able to accept a gene into itself and allow the gene to become part of the cell s whole, thus changing its form and expressing the gene s function. This process was first discovered by the British bacteriologist Frederick Griffith, who was able to transform Streptococcus pneumoniae into a different strain of Strep. in 1928 (1928). This discovery was pivotal in the way we understand gene expression and its engineering. An example of genetic engineering using transformation that applies to everyday life is the synthesizing of human insulin, which is a peptide hormone that helps to regulate the amount of sugar that runs through the bloodstream. In the early 1900s, insulin from other animals was used to treat diabetes, but human insulin is now able to be easily produced in bulk through genetic engineering, and has largely replaced animal insulin for the treatment of diabetes. Insulin is made from cells in the pancreas, and the extraction of insulin from animals used to require taking it directly from the animal s pancreas glands. It was not until 1977 that synthetic human insulin was genetically engineered by Arthur Riggs and Keiichi Itakura, and was achieved by the process of transformation using Escherichia coli as a host (1977), which allowed for the easy reproduction of human insulin. Using this method, the production of human insulin became large scale, faster, cheaper, and more accessible. A weakened ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. Examples Of Microtransactions So what exactly are microtransactions? Microtransactions can be defined as the exchange of real money for virtual goods. It is a system where users can purchase virtual goods via micropayments. hence the term microtransaction ( Microtransaction 2017.) This type of business model is common in free to play games and is typically used to speed up progression within the game itself. However, some developers have decided to incorporate microtransactions despite customers already paying the full price for the game. While this is not necessarily an issue if the goods are cosmetic and have no effect on the core gameplay, it is an issue if it provides users who pay for offered goods with an unfair advantage over free to play players. In my opinion, this was a blatant money grab by EA and in no way ethical because they were not acting in the interest of their clients (the users) and utilizing us as a means to an end. They could have made the same game sans the microtransactions and have made a reasonable profit from the cost of the base game itself, but instead chose to make a greedy decision to increase profit margins for what would have been a successful game regardless. Had I been the one to make the decision, I would have lowered the time sink required to unlock heroes by a substantial amount, and limited the microtransactions to cosmetic items. That way, the needs of the customers would have been satisfied, but the company would have still made more profit than it normally would. In summary, the decision was not ethical because they acted against the interest of the customers and instead decided to further their own profits. To understand why microtransactions have become so prevalent one has to understand the history of them first. Microtransactions date as far back as early 2005 with the release of the Xbox Live Marketplace. Back then, players could purchase virtual goods such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 25. Unraveling The Enigma Of Christopher Mccandless Unraveling the Enigma of Christopher McCandless Throughout the novel, Into the Wild, Jon Krakauer sincerely disentangles the haunting enigma of Chris McCandless. By tracing the places, people and experiences intertwined in the life of McCandless, Krakauer narrates the life story of a puzzling corpse found in a bus buried in the Alaskan frontier in a truly authentic way of storytelling. Although Krakauer inserts direct quotes from people who McCandless came into direct contact with and experts from primary source journals, Krakauer s own voice in the narration of the dead man s life is trustworthy due to the similarities the protagonist and the author share. Common connections such as similar paternal stress made outstanding impacts in both men s lives, starting at a young age. Furthermore, a sort of agitation with the soul ailed Krakauer and McCandless fueled by a reckless persona confined in the modern world. Lastly, a craving for human contact when in total isolation troubled both the author and subject in their adventures narrowed in the natural world. The mutual bond apparent to the reader between Krakauer and McCandless makes the writing in the novel sincere enabling Krakauer to speak of a dead s man life with profound authority and truth. Unconditional understanding through shared paternal issues, agitation of the soul, and need for human contact grants Krakauer access to divulge into the conundrum of Chis McCandless and authority to earnestly narrate the mysterious ... • 28. The Applicability Of Marx And Marxian Theory Essay Assessing The Applicability of Marx and Marxian Theory across the Economically Developed world of Europe, Japan, and America and the Relationship Between Capital, Labor, and Government across the Industrial Revolution, Depression, and Postwar Reconstruction. By: Charles Jonah Wendt The countries of France, United States, Japan and Germany all have a very diverse and unique history. However, one thing that undoubtably unites all of these great countries together is that they all engage in a capitalistic economic system. While there are many things that can be discussed about these various countries, in the scope of this class, in which we interrogate the ideas of Marx and Weber, one question can be had. The question is not whether these countries are capitalistic, but rather how applicable are the theories of Marx and Marxians to these specific countries. Marx s opinion of capitalism can simply be reduced to one formula and theory, the Theory of Surplus Value. This formula is SV=PC SW. Spelled out this means that surplus value equals the price of the commodity minus a subsistence wage. Marx believes that this theory serves as the foundation of economic structures. However, this one formula is not Marx s entire theory. Marx continues his theory beyond this formula to discuss the interaction between the actors in society. Marx determines that there are three actors in society. These actors are government, capital, and workers. In his theory marx discusses how private ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this report, I will be discussing operating systems, management of information, security and application software within a school environment and personal use. The context of this report will be inclusive of my internal assessments of which I have completed at school, and at home. Operating software (OS) An operating system has the ability to manage both the hardware and software of a computer or device. It is the most important part of a computer and controls every action and task which is carried out. Computers and devices require both hardware and software for it to operate. Without one, you will not have a functioning machine. All desktops utilise operating systems, of which the software (or OS) is a collection of code installed onto the computer s hard drive and is intangible. It includes the computer programs, folders, files and documents. The internet browser, like Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome that allows you to visit online web pages and the operating system that the browser is running on is considered software, while computer hardware is any physical device used in or with your computer or machine. It is something you can physically touch. Examples of hardware include a mouse, monitor, keyboard and motherboards. The interfaces of applications, device management, processor management, memory management, user interface and storage management are the six main tasks controller by the operating system. • 31. Domestic Atmosphere In King Henry V King Henry V s depiction of English nationalism amidst its battle between France showcases the glorification of war. However, despite the play s emphasis on combat and victory, King Henry V, also presents a strong unification of the charater s seeking or protecting for what they call home. For many of the play s characters, the domestic sphere represents an ideal space to which they will return to or represent though their interactions. The domestic sphere intercedes onto the battlefield providing context as to what the characters are fighting and dying for. The play s commoners use the tavern as a domestic sphere which is a reoccurring setting for characters like Pistol and Bardolph. It provides an ideal atmosphere for their interactions during times of peace as the tavern also functions as the plays comic relief for Acts II and III in the play. For example, upon entering the tavern, The Hostess makes reference that she does not house a dozen or fourteen gentlewomen because then people would assume the establishment as a brothel which is then interrupted with Nym unsheathing his sword (158 159). • 32. LSD Synthesis Essay Ever since the beginning of Nixon s War on Drugs, psychoactive substances have been given a bad rap. This is especially true for psychedelics like LSD, psilocybin (the psychoactive compound found in magic mushrooms), dimethyltryptamine (DMT), and of course the list could go on and on. But as research has recently begun again on these compounds, scientists are finding more and more reason for these substances to be reevaluated. In addition to helping with anxiety and depression, psychedelics are today most well known for their effects on the brain s creativity levels. In light of this, should psychedelics be evaluated and considered for legal use in society, as a tool for all of us, and especially artists, to increase our creativity? The Birth of LSD Albert Hofmann was a German scientist who began working at the Sandoz Pharmaceuticals research laboratory in Basel, Switzerland, in 1929.
