Lymphatic Filariasis Essay
While this infection does cause harm to the lymphatic system, it still affects the integumentary
system (skin). The skin and lymphatic system go hand in hand when this infection is present in the
individual. This is seen when the skin reacts to the decreased function of the lymphatic system due
to the parasitic worm. History of Lymphatic Filariasis
It is unknown of how or where this infectious disease (lymphatic filariasis) arouse. The first
documentation of lymphatic filariasis was not seen until an exploration that occurred in Goa during
the years 1588 to 1592. Ancient artifacts though have suggested that it could have been present in
early 2000BC. These artifacts were found in a number of areas in the world including Africa and
Asia. Those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since lymphatic filariasis is not commonly found in America, this drug is no longer approved by
the FDA and can only be obtained by a physician if lab tests come back positive for the infection.
When the drug is administered, there is a 1 or 12 day treatment of DEC. This drug does not kill
all adult worms, but can prevent the infection from spreading. Areas that are at high risk for
becoming affected are treated through a process called preventive chemotherapy that uses 2
medicines: albendazole and ivermectin (or in some cases DEC). This medicine combination clears
all microfilariae from the bloodstream and thus can prevent the further of transmission of this
infectious disease. Other treatments aside from taking DEC can be the following: washing the
swollen area with soap and water daily, elevate the affected area in order to improve lymphflow,
and disinfect any wounds that may arise by using antibacterial.
Present day research on Lymphatic Filariasis
Recent research shows the transmission of lymphatic filariasis in high risk populations has
dropped by 43% since the start of GPELF. Before GPELF, 81 countries were deemed as being
common for lymphatic filariasis. From 2000 to 2013, over 5 billion treatments were delivered to a
targeted population of about 984 million individuals in 56 countries, which reduced the
transmission. Other research suggests that 73 countries are still common for this disease and out of
those 73, 17 have proposed strategies to eliminate the transmission of

Little Red Riding Hood And Gun Violence Analysis
In 2015 alone, there have been an overwhelming 10,409 deaths due to gun violence ( Gun
Violence Archive 2015 Toll of Gun Violence ). Every year thousands of people are killed due to
people misusing guns, but there are no laws that prevent children and young teenagers from getting
a hold of guns themselves. However, the government has banned other items to protect the children
of America including items like Kinder chocolate eggs and Little Red Riding Hood.
In the images below, created by Moms Demand Action for GunSense in America, four young
children are pictured in classroom settings where two of the children are holding assault weapons
and the other two are holding a chocolate egg or a copy of the book Little Red Riding Hood. The
children in both images are centered and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, gun violence has led to a staggering 566 deaths of kids in 2015 alone, there
has also been 271 mass shootings, and a total of 41,262 incidents due to gun violence ( Gun

is trying to show others that America, as a whole, has turned their backs on gun violence and
pretend that it does not happen as often as it does. America s government, schools, and libraries
have their priorities out of line when it comes to laws that are supposed to protect our children.

Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Case Study
Introduction
Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a heart condition in which part of the heart muscle gets too
thick. The condition can cause a dangerous and abnormal heart rhythm. It can also weaken the heart
over time.
The heart is divided into four chambers. The thickening usually affects the pumping chamber on the
lower left (left ventricle). HCM may also affect the valve that lets blood flow out of the left
ventricle (mitral valve). Symptoms often begin at about age 30.
What are the causes?
This condition is usually caused by abnormal genes that control heart muscle growth. These
abnormal genes are passed down through families (inherited).
What increases the risk?
This condition is more likely to develop in people with a family history ... Show more content on
Helpwriting.net ...
How is this diagnosed?
This condition is diagnosed based on the results of a physical exam that involves checking for an
abnormal heart sound (heart murmur). Tests may be done, including:
An electrocardiogram (ECG). This test records your heart s electrical activity.
An echocardiogram. This test can show whether your left ventricle is enlarged and whether it fills
slowly.
A Doppler test. This test shows irregular blood flow and pressure differences inside the heart.
A chest X ray. This test can show whether your heart is enlarged.
An MRI.
How is this treated?
Treatment for HCM depends on how severe your symptoms are. There are several options for
treatment, including.
Medicine. Medicines can be given to:
Reduce the workload of your heart.
Lower your blood pressure.
Thin your blood and prevent clots.
A device. Devices that can be used to treat this condition include:
A pacemaker. This devices helps control your heartbeat.
A defibrillator. This device restores a normal heart rhythm.
Surgery. This may include a procedure to:
Inject alcohol into the small blood vessels that supply your heart muscle during a procedure called
cardiac catheterization (alcohol septal ablation). The goal is to cause the muscle to become

Keyence Vhx-5000 Week 3 Problem Analysis Paper
The digital microscope Keyence VHX 5000 is a method, which is easy to handle and supports
research with high resolution images and the calculation of 3D surface models. Several
functions make it easy and quick to work with: The 3D function also allows clear 2D images of
a rough surface, because all levels are focused automatically and a sharp image of all levels will
be created. This function makes it easy to analyse deep cuts, which can be only partially focused
in light microscopy or electron microscopy. To calculate a 3D surface model the lower and upper
border of the depth of interest has to be determined, by focusing on these levels. Between these
borders a level difference of five microns were chosen. In other words, after every scan the lens
moves five microns from the sample away.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To avoid steps between the different levels, the edges will be rounded. Therefore a minimal
resolution of five microns is valid for the cut mark measurements, although the software allows
measurements till to decimals because of its logarithm to calculate the surface. In this dissertation,
all measurements are fully specified. However, a less accuracy of values less than five microns
must not be forgotten. Higher resolutions till one micrometre are also possible, but the number of
scanned levels is restricted. Therefore it is possible to analyse fine cut marks in a higher
resolution, but in this case, cuts were up to 1 mm deep and a smaller resolution is sufficient. Using
this resolution, the ends of cuts, which are very flat, were excluded because their size is
approximately under 15 microns and therefore inaccuracies in measurement increase, which might
influence the

Signs And Symptoms Of Sickle Cell Anemia
Signs and symptoms of sickle cell anemia may be determined at birth. Some infants though, do
not show any signs until the age of four months. Other infants, might show some signs at birth
that have to deal with the anemia part of the illness. Babies special hemoglobin protects their red
blood cells which is why some of them are not diagnosed at birth. Some people have severe
symptoms and others could just be mild. There are many different symptoms or signs of sickle
cell anemia, there are signs that have to do with just the anemia part and other signs that have to
do with the disease part of the illness. Many different symptoms have to deal with the anemic
part of the illness. Some of the most commonly diagnosed symptoms are; shortness of breath,
dizziness, jaundice, pale skin, headaches, and coldness in the head and feet. The hands and feet
of sickle cell patients could be swollen which is the first sign of sickle cell sometimes. A fever is
usually side by side with the swelling. Red blood cells carry oxygen through our bodies and
delivers it throughout our systems. With sickle cell, those red blood cells tend to form a
crescent moon shape and often get stuck together in the blood vessels. This will cause swelling
and pain in which ever body part the blood is sickling in. Blood is carried to each body part,
which also means for sickle cell patients sickling can happen almost anywhere in their entire body.
Pain would have to be one of the most common symptoms of sickle

Gemalto The Leader In Digital Security, Has Made The Wave
Gemalto the leader in digital security, has made the wave in payment technology to the United
States, specially adapted to the growing lifestyle of today s contemporary consumer. Contactless
EMV offers the same high level of security as contact EMV cards, joined with a tap and pay feature
that drastically speeds up transactions, benefitting issuers, merchants and cardholders.
Contactless cards have transformed payments worldwide, with more than 1.2 billion such cards
distributed in 2015. Gemalto, the leader in contactless, has distributed more than 1 billion of those
globally throughout the past five years. Gemalto s contactless cards are now in 77 countries

For EMV, the readers access data stored on the chips in the cards to verify cardholders are entering
the correct PINs. Contactless cards, the chips transfer the card account number to the reader using
wireless technology. Mohammad Khan, founder and president of Vivo tech Inc., a provider of
contactless payment terminals and software, says as more countries switch to EMV, criminals
will shift their energy to the United States, where the mag strip infrastructure is easier to
circumvent. The U.S. as a country is open to attack. The fraud people always move toward the
weakest point, Khan says. Every other country in the world has a deadline to move to EMV. I
believe the industry needs a deadline in the U.S. as well. CardLine; 2/6/2009, Vol. 9 Issue 6, p12

Gemalto s Contactless or tap and go cards met with immediate success, fitting in perfectly with the
life style expectation of the cardholders. They are fast, convenient, secure and to put it in one
word cool. Research demonstrated how much the speed of transaction and the convenience of
tapping are seen as direct advantages both by the cardholder and by the merchant. I have always
been surprised to see the concern some card issuers have about the security of contactless
payments. It is amazing to see how much cardholders appreciate the security of their contactless

Hearing People Communication
This article presented me with many observations on the way both Deaf and hearing people
communicate that I had not considered before. My prior experiences as a non signing hearing
person communicating with Deaf people have been limited to communicating through an
interpreter or slowing down my naturally fast rate of talking so that my lips could read. Admittedly,
albeit naГЇvely, I had never considered that I could improve my communication with other hearing
people through tips and tricks that Deaf people just use naturally when communicating with one
another, however, this article changed that completely. One thing that kind of surprised me a little
at first is that Deaf people routinely pass messages much faster and more precisely than any
hearing person. It would seem like being able to communicate orally would make getting messages
across much easier, however, just thinking back to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Add on top this our tendency to speak over one another and there s a wonder we ever get
anything communicated. ASL requires deaf people to not only speak one at a time, but the
people listening have to give the speaker their full attention so that they can understand what has
been said, which is something that hearing people could definitely improve upon. I also agree
with Dr. Kahne s point that there is a huge difference between our cultures in asking for
clarification. If a deaf person doesn t understand what has been said they will ask to have it
repeated, whereas there seems to be a stigma against that for many hearing people. Since we don
t have to have our eyes on the speaker to understand them, this allows for our eyes, and quite
often also our minds, to wander. As a result we don t end up understanding all or part of what was
said and then for whatever reason, instead of asking them to repeat it, we just smile and nod and
pretend like we were paying attention the entire

The Requirements for Verizon FIOS Fiber Optic Cable...
INTRODUCTION The purpose of the Verizon FIOS fiber optic cable Requirements Management
Plan is to establish a common understanding of how requirements will be identified, analyzed,
documented, and managed for the Verizon FIOS fiber optic cable project. Requirements will be
divided into two categories: project requirements and product requirements. Project requirements
are the set desires identified to meet the needs of the project and ensure its achievement and
promptness to hand over to operations. Most will consist of non technical requirements. Product
requirements are the set desires identified to meet the specifications of the technical products that
are being produced as a result of the project: the Verizon FIOS fiber optic cable.... Show more

In conclusion, the metrics and acceptance criteria will be determined for all requirements to
provide a baseline of understanding the deadline of the requirements at a satisfactory level.
Requirements Documentation: On completion of the requirements identification and analysis, the
will then be documented and assigned to the appropriate individual who will be held accountable.
The requirements will be added to the Verizon FIOS fiber optic cable project plan and the project
team will determine what methodology the appropriate individual will use in order to track and
report the status of each of their requirements. All requirements will then be added to the project
requirements checklist. This checklist should be completed prior to the project closure acceptance
done by the project sponsor. Ongoing Requirements Management: During the project, the project
manager is held responsible to ensure and assist all team members with reporting requirement
status. They are also to inform and react to any issues or concerns with their assigned requirements
as needed. In the event of any changes or alterations during the process of the project, the project
manager must make the appropriate changes utilizing the control process set forth in order to
receive approval from the change control board. Ongoing requirements management is also held to

Brother Larry Hample
Introduction The United States is a giant melting pot with many different cultures and races and
people coming from all walks of life. As a counselor, it is important to be able to be competent in a
variety of cultures to be effective. Being cultural competent means having the awareness,
knowledge and skills needed to function effectively with culturally diverse populations (Sue Sue,
2016). This project required immersing in a culture that is different from your own. I was allowed
the opportunity to experience being the only one in a culture that is different from what I am used to.
Albany Rescue Mission Larry Hample came to Albany in 1960 after he was stationed at Turner Air
Base. After seeing all the people without homes on the streets, he felt an overwhelming sense of
sympathy and compassion (Our History, n.d.). Larry, also known as Brother Larry, knew he had to
do something about it. That is when he started the Albany Rescue Mission. The Albany Rescue
Mission houses homeless men, women, and children and feeds thousands of meals to the homeless
each month.

afraid of being robbed. Because African Americans are constantly being stereotyped in this way, I

Advantage And Disadvantage Of Housemaids
Introduction For this project, I investigate the current debate surrounding the idea of keeping
housemaids with children for purposes; such as, taking care of the children and serving them is
a good or bad idea. Besides, because our values and norms are changed; as well as, our behaviors
and thoughts are changed by technology and globalization. In the past, there were no housemaids
and the parents have to serve themselves; in contrast, now, both parents are working, so they need
somebody to help them at home and to look after their children. However, with all advantages of
housemaids, everything has a negative side and housemaids also have disadvantages. This research
will examine this on a global or international scope. The aim of the research... Show more content

The sub reasons are parents don t know to deal with children as this research stated that housemaids
know things about the children more than their parents. Besides, this research reported that
housemaid was treating the child harshly, that is because housemaids see this work as a job to have
money which means they are not parents.
Conclusion/Recommendations
To conclude, leaving the children with housemaids can create problems; for example, they will
make unethical behaviors, they will be close to the children more than their parents and they will
impact the children s language.
However, you can solve those problems by putting your children in daycare or nursery school
where can play and interact with other children instead of picking up a new language or bad
behaviors. The second solution is living with a big family that children can communicate more with
people from same beliefs and behaviors. The last solution, if the parents decide to have children,
one of them has to scarify and leave the

Courtroom Observation
Going into this particular assignment I wasn t really sure what to expect or even where I
needed to go to see an interesting case mainly because I had never been to the County building
before or observed a courtroom proceeding before. However, I went this past Thursday to try to
watch and see what I could learn. When I arrived to the county building I wasn t sure where the
courtrooms were so I was kind of wandering around. After a few minutes a man approached me
and asked what I was there for and I told him to observe a courtroom for a class so he directed me
to the info office for further help. After explaining to them why I was there an officer told me
Courtroom 4 which is the Major Felony court had some interesting cases so I should go there.
Throughout the duration of this paper I will explain in detail the five different cases that I
observed while I was there. The first case I observed I missed a little bit of the beginning due to
wandering around the building lost for a while. Due to this I missed the name the defense attorney
as well as the name of the prosecutor. This particular case was The State of Indiana v. Kim
Cooney Thomas and her charges were battery with a deadly weapon, criminal recklessness, as
well as leaving the scene of an accident. The second case that I observed was State of Indiana v.

Equity and Imperfect Transfer
Legal writing and credit For a trust instrument to be valid and effective, it must be properly
constituted. For a trust to be deemed as completely constituted, all of the relevant formalities must
have been satisfied by the settlor, hence the legal title of the property must transfer to the trustees.
The reason for a conveyance of property to the hands of trustee is explained in Milroy v Lord
(1862) by Turner L.J. is that a valid and effectual voluntary settlement will exist, when the settlor
have done everything which was necessary according to the nature of property comprised in the
settlement, which is to transfer that particular property to the trustee. This requirement of

Speed of a Projectile Propelled by a Solenoid
Student: Octavio Alonso Cuesta De La Rosa
Consultant: Evan Simmers
Supervising teacher: Kent Hogan
Assessor:
Write your aim, need or opportunity, with an explanation of why it was worth achieving:
My aim was to calculate the velocity of a ferrous projectile propelled by a solenoid.
Originally I planned to build my own coil gun and use it for testing, but as time grew shorter and
hardly any progress was made on the project, Mr. Hogan suggested I use the coil gun my
consultant had left behind in the schools store room. Although I disputed the idea at first, the more
I argued the more Mr. Hogan s idea made sense.
Executive summary:
Introduction:
There was no real need to carry out this project. It started off as one of several suggestions made
to my teacher Kent Hogan. From my point of view this particular suggestion was nothing more
than a joke especially considering where I got it from, but from Mr Hogan s perspective this
suggestion was the most feasible and had the most potential.
I m not forcing anyone to pay serious attention to this project. There are likely far better ones out
there that talk about coil guns. However, if you want to know how fast a rudimentary contraption
can propel a ferrous projectile by briefly generating a strong magnetic field it will benefit you to

Academic Performance Action Plan Essay
Action Plan Academic Performance Action Plan My academic performance goal for my Senior
year is to maintain a GPA of 3.5. To achieve that, I have determined myself to achieve as
minimum grades, two B+ and three A for this semester and for Spring and Fall of 2017. So far, I
have performed quite well on my exams and projects this semester. However, on one class I
barely passed my first exam with a 70 even though I felt I was prepared to obtain a much better
grade. Therefore, to achieve my goal of maintaining a GPA of 3.5, I m tasked with preparing one
week in advance for the exams on this particular course to achieve at least a final grade of B. In
addition to that, I found that completing the assignments even a month before they were due
helped me clear my schedule and allowed me more time to do research on internship
opportunities. To determine if I have achieved a significative progress in maintaining a GPA
above 3.5, I will join Beta Gamma Sigma on Spring 2017 and remain part of it until I graduate.
In addition, I ll change my studying technique for exams and prepare a week prior to the tests. I
will be able to determine the effectiveness of such technique if I m able to obtain at least an 80
on the second exam for the course I m having difficulty with this semester. For next year, I will
also apply the same approach of completing assignments a month before to clear up my schedule
and focus time on improving my performance on the courses I could be struggling with.

Douglas Macarthur Speeches
Douglas MacArthur was a figure with leadership qualities. As a young adolescent, MacArthur
graduated top tier of his class from U.S. Military Academy at West Point. After being stationed at
many battles during World War I, it did not take long for Douglas MacArthur to become a general.
In the year of 1930, Douglas MacArthurwas named chief of staff of the army by President Herbert
Hoover. During World War II, Douglas MacArthur became well known for his act of freeing the
people of the Philippines from the Japanese totalitarian ruling. For this famous battle, he was given
command for all army forces in the pacific, and was also promoted to rank of general. During the
Korean War, MacArthur policies and recommendations to bomb China were quickly refused by
President Truman because Truman did not want to start another World War. This lead to MacArthur
being dismissed as the commander of army. Returning to the United States, Douglas MacArthur
was welcomed as a man who encouraged other soldiers to do what is best for the native soil.
Furthermore, Douglas MacArthur achievements has led him to receive a Sylvanus Thayer Award,
where he wrote an impactful speech that will carry on for future of American soldiers (History).
Accepting the Sylvanus Thayer Award on May 12, 1962, General Douglas MacArthur made a

Case Analysis Guidelines amp; Checklist
Overview: In many ways writing a short analysis paper (including recommendations and/or
conclusions) is like writing an action memo or executive memo in business. The following
sections go over how to organize and format your written work here in class and in the business
world to be attractive to the reader and effective in getting your point across.
Approach: * Read the entire case carefully before you actually begin to write the paper, and make
careful notes
(including your emotional reactions, which can be useful). Try to read the case once at least a few
hours or a day earlier, and then again when you are writing the paper. This ... Show more content on

* (Optional). You may decide to add a final titled conclusion section of 25 100 words, including any
parting thoughts you would like to add about the topic, the organization, or the situation, and any
lessons from it you want to note.
Format and Style:
Boston University emphasizes standards of effective oral and written business communication,
because these skills are important to your career success. Therefore you are expected to follow the
requirements of good business writing and the specific requirements of the course. Failure to
follow these rules (e.g. papers over length, excessive misspellings, incorrect citations, etc.) will
result in papers being downgraded. Likewise follow Boston University s rules on plagiarism and
academic conduct.
Specific requirements * Papers should be organized into paragraphs, written in complete
sentences, and broken into clearly titled sections as per the outline above. Note that generally
shorter rather than longer paragraphs make for better communication, and that it is better to have
too many titled sections than too few. * Use correct spelling and grammar. You should use a spell
checking program on your computer, and * personally proof read your papers. If English is a
second language for you, ask an English speaking friend to check your writing and grammar for
you. Remember to set the language of Word to English (U.S.) through the Menu. Also make sure

One of my favorite quotes from the book: So, I guess we are who we are for a lot of reasons.
And maybe we ll never know most of them. But even if we don t have the power to choose
where we come from, we can still choose where we go from there. This quote exemplifies hope,
and strength. No matter where you come from, what demons you ve faces, they are all part of
who you are. You can either let it destroy you, or learn from it and let it lead you to where you
want to go. There s no need to dwell on the past, just look towards the future. Another powerful
quote from this book comes when Sam is talking to Charlie: Why do I and everyone I love pick
people who treat us like we re nothing? We accept the love we think we deserve. Self worth is a
big theme throughout the book. The characters have troubles with knowing how to love
themselves, which is a theme that I think many people have trouble with. There are many other
valuable quotes and themes throughout the book. Charlie is an extremely relatable character. Any
teenager who has ever experienced pain, confusion, trouble with self discovery, or social anxiety
can relate to him. The setup of the book allows readers to enter Charlie s thought bringing the
readers closer and more intimate with the events of the book. You feel the emotions that Charlie
feels, like you are Charlie. Through Charlie, we learn lots of things about ourselves. Our anxiety,
our desire to fit in, and our thirst for happiness. And we learn that we re not alone in those

The Collapse of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge Essay
The Collapse of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge
The Tacoma Narrows Bridge is perhaps the most notorious failure in the world of engineering. It
collapsed on November 7, 1940 just months after its opening on July 1, 1940. It was designed by
Leon Moisseiff and at its time it was the third largest suspension bridge in the world with a center
span of over half a mile long. The bridge was very narrow and sleek giving it a look of grace, but
this design made it very flexible in the wind. Nicknamed the Galloping Gertie, because of its
undulating behavior, the Tacoma Narrows Bridge drew the attention of motorists seeking a cheap
thrill. Drivers felt that they were driving on a roller coaster, as they would disappear from sight in
the trough of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is shaped in a way to transfer weight to the towers and anchors with its tension (O Connor,
1971, p. 372). Cables are made of high strength wires spirally bound to form a rope (O Connor,
1971, p. 372). Vertical cable suspenders that are fastened to the main cables hang the actual
roadway. Stiffening girders and trusses are along the side of the bridge to distribute concentrated
loads and help to keep the motion of the bridge at a minimum (Troitsky, 1994, p115).
The basic design of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge itself was a suspension bridge with a center
span of 2800 feet and two side spans of one 1100 feet (Farquharson, 1950, p. 17). Its two lane,
reinforced concrete roadway was twenty six feet wide with two 5 foot, 9 inch sidewalks
(Farquharson, 1950, p. 19). Overall the superstructure was 5939 feet, including the suspension
structures, approach spans and anchorages (Farquharson, 1950, p. 19). Anchorages were made
of solid concrete and were fifty feet by 170 feet and were fifty feet high (Farquharson, 1950, p.
19). The main towers which the cables saddle were 425 feet in height and with a spacing of
thirty nine feet at the top and fifty feet at the bottom (Farquharson, 1950, p. 19). Each cable
consisted of nineteen strands of galvanized wire and totaled a diameter of seventeen inches. The
design of the bridge may sound rather large and structurally stable but as mentioned before the
bridge was designed to be very sleek looking. By

Comparing My Husband And I Cultures
For my sociology project, I decided to compare and contrast my husband and I cultures. In doing
so I discovered we shared many cultural norms and tradition although there was some noticeable
difference in terms of how our communities are run within our defined societies. My husband hails
from a small country on the coast of West Africa named Sierra Leone. That s a huge contrast from
the Hmong people who don t have a land to call home. Our people through centuries of prosecution
have scatted throughout Asia and America with the vast majority still residing in our ancestral land
of China. Despite this, however, Hmong people like the people of Sierra Leone continue to possess
a strong sense of identity and culture. Often Hmong communities in the United State take on a
specific identity, not unlike American Indians reservation or other sub cultural community in The
United State. Conversely, although the people of Sierra Leone have a nation filled with rich
tradition and culture but continue to be inundated by a western culturewhich could be having an
adverse effect. Ultimately our discussion highlights that both of our people ultimately want to move
forward as one to a better and prosper future.
My husband and I discussed the structure of family in our culture. While mine was a patriarch
system, his, however was the matriarch. Like most Asian culture the male is often the head of the
family and hold the most status. The people of Sierra Leone, however, hold the

Oppression Of Women And Women Of Color
For my Final project in WS, I have chosen to talk about the oppression of women, and women of
color. To narrow more in on the topic, I have chosen to discuss the oppression of women in the
work force and all the different forms of oppression women face. Oppression is defined as, A
situation in which people are governed in an unfair and cruel way and prevented from having
opportunities and freedom, (dictionary.cambridge.org). Oppression can be caused by many
different things. People can feel oppressed because they are being compared to the opposite gender.
People can be oppressed being compared to other age groups. And people can feel oppressed
when being compared to different races. Women of color feel oppressed because they are
constantly being compared to white women, and some may say they do not always have the
same privileges as others. I have enjoyed reading and researching about this topic, but at the same
time have had a hard time truly understanding it. To be completely transparent I am a privileged
white girl and throughout my whole life I have never felt that I faced oppression. I have witnessed
it, but never experienced it. The oppression I have witnessed has only been in the work force;
which I will discuss later on.
In our first reading in this class we read a book called Sisters in Spirit which was about the
differences between the Haudenosaunee women and White women. When I was first reading this I
kept thinking how unfair the situation was and that I

Garden Slugs For Research Paper
No matter whether you re a vegetable gardener or you love to plant flowers, one of your biggest
pests is probably garden slugs. Slugs look like snails without the shells. They slime their way

Oh, there are usually the typical few hosta varieties, some heucheras, ferns and a few astilbe
varieties available at most local garden shops. Most people all over the country have local
access to these plants, but for unique and stunning specimen plants, sometimes we have to
search far afield. Many of the small companies that have some very rare varieties of native or
hybridized shade plants don t have big advertising budgets, but these are often the best sources

Italian Immigration to America
From 1890 to 1915 estimated around 4 million Italians arrived in the United States. Majority
being from 1900 to 1914. Once they arrived in America, immigrants faced difficult challenges.
Most of the time not even knowing the English language and also having very little education.
Many of the new immigrants were forced to accept the lowest paying and hellish jobs. Sometimes
were often forced by the average man who acted like they were slaves. Most of the immigrants
found homes in the older sections of the big northeastern coastal cities. Later became known as the
Little Italys most of the time being overcrowded average homes, which had terrible living condition
with bad lighting and poor heating in the winter. Tuberculosis was one of the constant health
problems for the immigrant families that were forced on by economic circumstances to live in these
homes. Other immigrant families lived in small homes which was even more common in areas
outside of the big northeastern cities.
The Italian immigration of 1880 caused the economy in southern Italy and Sicily to decrease. Due
to over taxation on the southern part of Italy making the situation nearly impossible for most tenant
farmers, and small business. Multitudes chose to migrate rather than try to make out a bad life.
Most of the time the father and sometimes the oldest son would go before the whole family.
Leaving the mother and the rest of the family behind until the father and son could afford their
passage.

Robert Enrico s 1963 Film Chickamauga
Robert Enrico s 1963 film Chickamauga was a narrative film. It was fictionalized story of the
Civil War s 1863 battle of Chickamauga from the perspective of a deaf and mute child. It is a
narrative film that took a fictional look at the horrors of the battles, the time period, and war itself.
Furthermore the films genre was filmnoir it made you feel a level of anticipation and left you with
questions. This genre is mostly known for it s gangster or crime films, but I categorized it as this
because of the soldier fatalism. In the end of all the destruction that they had caused over time they
just gave up.
This film was narrated by the background music that began playing at the start. The music was

The music that narrated the film was playing during these clips and the lyrics stated You have
war as your heritage little boy. The boy soon became upset when he was told playtime was over
with the African American of the household, he kicked his toy, and ran away angry with his sword
in his hand which was ironic. He was playing where he usually played around when the battle of
Chickamauga began to take over his homeland. He did not seem to have an understanding as to
what was going on, he was blind to his surrounding. He then came home to a burned house and
begins throwing things to feed the fire. Johnny then saw his mom lying on the ground, which
brought him to tears and an understanding of what was going on in the woods. The film ended with
the music that narrated the film playing and Johnny running away from his home.
The order of this film was not very typical, the audience would not have predicted the final events
of the movie. It went from people living their everyday lives to war, death and destruction. In less
than a day the director was able to convey the effect s of war and how it can change an individual
s life in a short amount of time. It took the main character about three hours to stumble upon the
civil war battle which is where the story s duration begins. It ends where the boy is followed into
the river by the soldiers and they all just

Exosomes As A Whole Has Gained Momentum Through The Area...
The interest and research invested into the area of exosome biogenesis and the topic of
exosomes as a whole has gained momentum in the last decade (Urbanelli, L. et al. 2013). Their
discovery in 1983, detailed in two papers published in JCB (Harding et al) and in Cell (Pan and
Johnstone), showed that the nomenclature had been prescribed wrongly to a broad range of
membrane vesicles that bud directly from the plasma membrane (Clifford V. Harding. et al. 2013).
When in fact the term exosome more accurately describes small vesicles, ranging from 30 100nm
in diameter (Urbanelli, L. et al. 2013), that originate via a different mechanism of budding than
apoptotic bodies and microvesicles, (Yu, S. et al. 2015).
Exosome function was initially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whilst exosomes have been retrieved in many body fluids, for example; blood, urine, saliva and
cerebrospinal fluid (Urbanelli, L. et al. 2013). They are recently thought to be present in all
biological fluids.
Exosome Biogenesis
Exosomes are exceptional from other types of vesicles based on a number of factors; including
their size (relatively small in comparison), morphology, cargo composition and most distinctly,
their endosomal origin (ThГ©ry C. 2002). Familiar types of vesicles such as microvesicles are
formed at the cell surface, budding directly from the plasma membrane (Alenquer, M. et al. 2015).
Exosome biogenesis follows an alternative method that begins in the early endosome (Huotari, J
and Helemius, A. 2011), whereby the ultimate result is the formation of intraluminal vesicles (IVL
s) inside the lumen of the endosome, this aggregate body is known as the multivesicular body
(MVB) or the multivesicular endosome (MVE).
Initially the early endosomal membrane, tube like in shape (Beach, A. et al, 2014), buds inwards
via intraluminal invagination (Lopez Verrilli, M and Court, F. 2013), randomly engulfing sections
of the cytosol contents such as the peripheral and transmembrane proteins. This formation of the
IVL s noticeably augments as the endosomes mature (Huotari, J and Helemius, A. 2011) and after
transformation the late endosome is more spherical in shape (Beach, A. et al. 2014). It is known

Essay about How the Media Uses an Ideal Victim in...
In recent years, the subject of crime has become an increasingly important theme of political,
academic, and public debate. In particular, the media today is more focused on victims than it has
ever been before. Through media representations of the ideal victim , this essay will subsequently
show how the media are able to construct and re affirm pre existing traditional ideologies within the
public realm. In effect, this assignment will critically assess the concept of an ideal victimand show
how the media have used this when describing crime. In reference to the media s role, they have
been highlighted for playing a part in maintaining these views by portraying victims in a certain
way according to the newsworthiness of each story... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The term is often related with negative meanings of powerlessness, passivity, and some victims
could be even perceived as inferiors. It is also important to note that when the word victim is
gendered, it is biased towards the female sex. Therefore, assumptions that females are passive and
weak also coincide with the assumptions of victims. The alternative term survivor is sometimes
preferred, particularly by feminists, as it places emphasis on their strength and the severity of the
experience with crime. In addition, groups may also be victims; usually involving a type of hate
crime such as racism or homophobia.
In victimology, there are still many unanswered questions and difficulties to find patterns that
would easily classify victims, because nobody is exempt from becoming a victim. Nevertheless,
some clichГ©d views about victims are embedded in our society. For example, Christie (1986)
describes the idea of the ideal victim, which is, in fact a person who is easily given the status of
being a victim. Ideal victims are perceived as blameless, law abiding, usually female, vulnerable
and worthy of help, sympathy and attention. Walklate (2005) used the fairytale of little red riding
hood to illustrate the ideal victim ; young, innocent, female out doing good deeds only to be
attacked by

Native American Tribes Of Native Americans In The 17th And...
During the 17th and 18th centuries, the Illinois were an Indian tribe situated around the Great
Lakes. As with most other Native American tribes, they encountered the French expanders. The
French were expanding their territories to the Great Lakes because of fur trading. They traded fur,
clothes, jewels, and food with the Illinois. After encountering the Illinois traditions and customs, the
French wanted to overpower them and place the tribe under their way of life. A strong Catholic
country, the French despised the Illinois s polygamous and polytheistic lifestyle. In an attempt to
convert the tribes to Catholicism, the French sent missionaries to spread the Gospel and teach the
faith. They were not met with as much adversity as expected. Illinois Indian women were attracted
to Catholicism because of the freedoms the faith gave them from their everyday lives and the
strong influence of a prominent woman from within the tribe. Societal norms in the 17th and 18th
centuries dictated that men fill the role of the head of the household. Similarly, the Illinois men
held power within the tribe. Not only were they in charge of hunting wild game and trading with
the French, but they were also given power over women in their homes. According to document 3,
if a husband found his wife unfaithful, he was given permission to kill her. However, this rule did
not apply to the women. Men were allowed to participate in sodomy and polygamy. They could
have multiple wives and prostitutes

The Nova Scotian provincial government is aware of the situation it s in and has been encouraging
all citizens and municipal governments to take action.
With the Liberal party s success at the recent elections, there is going to be significant political

Another important part of the Liberal party s platform is their focus on helping Nova Scotian
businesses and entrepreneurs, and also to improve the accountability for government and loans to

Economic Factors: By analyzing the economic factors we can see that Nova Scotia s economic
growth was last among the Canadian provinces over the last two decades when measured as the
total percentage increase of gross domestic product (GDP).
In 2013, Nova Scotia s GDP per capital was ninth out of the ten provinces, and it is expected to drop
from about 943,000 to 878,000 by 2040, a 7% decline. Implications for the Future:

In gymnastics math plays a crucial role in tricks and stunts. If a gymnast does not have enough
power to complete a trick at the right angle the trick will not be safely completed. There is also
math in how gymnastics are judged and how skills are rated. There are five different values of
grading a skill, the skills are A, B, C, D, E and F. For each skill level the difficulty point increases
by one tenth. The goal of a gymnast is to get a perfect score of ten (Isport, rules and regulations).
In gymnastics, there are four apparatuses; for women s there are floor, beam, bars and vault and
for men there are floor, pommel horse, rings, and parallel bars and horizontal bar. All the
different events are judged on what is required for the level of the gymnast. For each level, there

This is a detective novel where the main detective and protagonist is a female. The first well
known female detective was Amelia Butterworth. She was created by Anna Katharine Green in
1897. She was in the book The Affair Next Door. The book, Look For Me, follows all of these
subgenres because the lead detective, Sergeant Detective D.D. Warren is a female detective.
Also, the book does follow police procedural because the detective is in the police force and uses
some tactics a police officer would use when solving a murder case. This novel is a thriller
because the reader wants to continue reading. The reader would be anticipating in this book,

matter how gruesome, or how horrible it was. She always is trying to find out what happened.
She represents females, and how females are capable of solving crimes, while also being very
independent while doing so. Sergeant Detective D.D. Warren keeps the story exciting. The reader

If we follow the flow chart through the path of choosing to completely replace the system, will the

three new ERP systems to send request for proposals (RFP) for. These new ERP systems are
based on modern technology, are GUI based, and have mouse support. There are additional
functionalities and integrations with these new platforms that the IT team feels the business
would greatly benefit from. Next, we need to determine if the new software will work with the
current hardware in place, but it does not due to the age of the current hardware. I advised that
this would be a great time to start the virtualization project and we can use the new ERP system
as the test bed. If we choose not to merge with the virtualization project to take advantage of the
hardware, then we will need to establish costs for the new hardware and if this will fit into the
current budget. We will then need to decide if the users will require extensive training for the new
replacement software. Because this is brand new software utilizing a GUI, the users will need
training. As such, we will have to research what type of training the company offers and the
associated costs. Next we have to work out if the training for this new software fits into the budget
in addition to the hardware.

The Effects Of Light Emitting Electronics On The Human...
Ellie Murphy Mrs. Webb Science Fair Research Paper October 6, 2015 Eye can t get to sleep!
The effect of light emitting electronics on the human sleep cycle. Which affects your sleep more:
blue light, books, or doing nothing before bed? Americans on the whole are not getting enough
sleep. A recent study conducted by the CDC determined that, among 74,571 adult respondents in
12 states, 35.3% reported less than 7 hours of sleep during a typical 24 hour period, 37.9%
reported unintentionally falling asleep during the day at least once in the previous month, and
4.7% reported nodding off or falling asleep while driving at least once in the previous month.

It is easier for people to get more sleep if they try to go to bed at the same time and wake up at the
same time every day. (Williams Carey, Pg. 1, 3) Having good sleep hygiene is important because
when people sleep, bodies can repair themselves. Human bodies repair both physically and
psychologically when they sleep. When a body repairs itself physically, it heals things such as
broken bones and bruises. Furthermore, when the human body repairs itself mentally, it heals
things such as stress and memory loss. Bad sleep behavior and hygiene can lead to sleep
decreasing. One way for sleep to decrease is drinking caffeine or alcohol before bed if they do it
will take them forever to fall asleep. Don t have a heavy meal right before bed, or it will interfere
with sleep. Never try to make an effort to go to sleep because sleep should come naturally to
everyone. (Williams Carey, Pg. 3 4) There are many several different stages of sleep. These
stages are called the sleep cycle. During this cycle people have five measurable stages of sleep,
but these can be simplified into just three stages. Stage one is light sleep. In this stage people
drift in and out of sleep and can wake up easily. When in light sleep, eye movement slows down
and muscles relax. If anyone has ever felt the sensation of falling, this is the stage it happens in.

The Divided Land Summary
The Divided Land Epilogue LytharГіn, an ancient land at the edge of the Great Sea, is rich in
history and yet so very young. LytharГіn is separated into five factions. In the west, by the sea, are

Their territory extends from the western shore, including control over the Sea Isles off the west

In context, as warmer temperatures, to raise humans to develop synthetic breathable fibers to keep

devices are growing and humans are becoming attached to their devices. Occasionally, I try to
have one day technology free but, the main reason why me and majority of humans can t live
without their devices is mainly that we programmed them with our personality. Having a
personalized device is so significant and smart devices learn from us as we learned from them.

Role Of General Practitioners And Primary Care Providers
2. Primary Care/General Practice Role of general practitioners/primary care providers in
diagnosing dementia Primary care physicians (PCP) play a crucial role in dementia diagnosis.
Older patients receive healthcare primarily from their general practitioners (GPs). [51, 52] Most
patients and carers prefer their GPs to be the first source of professional help when dealing with
dementia. [53 55] The Australian guidelines advocate early diagnosis by timely exploration of
symptoms raised by patients and carers. [14] It would be reasonable for GPs to initiate the
diagnostic process for suspected dementia cases before referring to specialists or memory clinics
for confirmation of diagnosis. Following a formal diagnosis, GPs are expected to provide ongoing
management and follow up, with adequate monitoring of efficacy and side effects of dementia
modulating drugs; detection, prevention and treatment of dementia complications such as
Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD), falls, malnutrition; and
appropriate referrals to support services. [56 60] The disclosure of dementia diagnosis should be a
shared responsibility between specialists and GPs, with GPs exploring patients perceptions about
symptoms and initiating tentative discussions about possible diagnoses prior to referral to
specialists and provide ongoing emotional and practical support post diagnosis. [61] Although
discussion of advanced care planning, legal issues and driving may be raised by

Meaning Of The Law Of Moses
Meaning of the phrase Law of Moses
The meaning of the phrase law of Moses has different possible meanings. To find which of the
meanings fit the text best one must look at the Hebrew context. Since there is no word for of in
the biblical Hebrew, Hebrew uses what is called a construct chain to define what type of
(possessive) relationship between two nouns. A construct chain is when two nouns are placed
side by side in which the (possessive) relationship between these two nouns is expressed. In a
constructive chain, the word of is implied because each of the nouns is side by side. Most of the
time two different translations is possible, for example law of Moses or Moses law.
Now as to some of the possible meanings of the phrase law of Moses there are a few. The most
assumed meaning is that Moses wrote the law this comes from the constructive chain that is
being in the subjective genitive form of authorship which could mean Moses wrote the law The
problem with this is that this does not necessarily mean all , meaning that it does not explicitly
suggest that Moses wrote all of the law. Therefore, there are other possible meanings to the
phrase the law of Moses. Other possible meaning would be that Moses had possession of the law
, the law was given to Moses, the law was for Moses, or law about Moses. There is another
possible meaning and that is that it means the Mosaic law, which refers to the Torah. These
meanings are all possibilities even

Mirrormask Movie Analysis
Dave McKean is the mastermind of MirrorMask, MirrorMask is a fantasy/drama film that
released on September 30th, 2005. This movie was very different from a normal fairy tale, It
didn t have an evil stepmother, an absentee father and not really a prince charming at the end of
the film. This story is about a girl named Helena, she worked in a circus with her Mom and Dad
and they barely got by financially. Helena didn t want to work in the circus anymore; she wanted
to be normal like everybody else. Helena is also an incredible artist, her room was filled with
drawing which symbolize her emotional expression. When she falls asleep one day, she woke up
in a magical land that was filled with her drawings. After finding out they need to get the
mirrormask to save the kingdom, she embarks on an adventure to save the queen. Along the way,
she meets a guy, Valentine that accompanies alongside with her. Is it true love? This movie is
about growing up and realizing that even if you don t have much, you should still be grateful for
what you have. Helena was very ungrateful, she had two parents that were always there for her,
they didn t have a lot of money, but they had each other and Helena didn t seem to understand that.
Helena even got into a fight with her mother and wish death upon on herself, how mean it that?
Throughout the film in a way she matured and learned a lesson, in many tales you learn lessons at
the end. In Snow White, Snow White had to learn to stop opening the

Irrigation of Yuma Arizona
Intro: The irrigation of Yuma County Arizona has helped the people out so much with the way
they live, especially in some areas. There for it actually saved a lot of people time and money
and even some lives. Before the dam it was hard to keep control of the water and the ground
around it would erode around it so you could not build or grow there. But once they got the dam
up they could start more growing food and more homes and it actually brought more people
around. So there are a few ways that helped Yuma Arizona and made it a little more better. But
there was only one downside to it, the steamboats could not be used anymore.
Question 1: Describe in detail how irrigation changed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also the people have relied on this water for a very very long time if you wanted to say you
could it could have been centuries. But the way the Yuma Project has helped other groups of
people is by helping them get to point A, too B. Also with food supply that is a big one and that
helped the poor, plus you can get supplies over the water faster. So it seems like the Yuma project
is very important and almost an necessary thing to have. When the flood receded, not enough
water could be channeled through the diversion works for irrigation. But it seems like without
the dam the water in some places could actually dry up. For example the Colorado river, and this
place dried up a little while ago but once it got going again it stayed good for over 100 years. Today
nearly 17 million people depend on the Colorado s waters. Therefore we made a treaty with
Mexico wit the 1.5 MAF of water in Colorado River to share with each other. A some what cool

Training At The Recruiting Station Essay
Many people tend to think that our military branches are only comprised of limited occupations
and jobs that support combat operations, but in reality, there is far more than that. For my project,
I decided to observe and work with US Army Recruiting Station in Vestal, NY because recruiting
stations are the first step any civilian has to take in order to serve their country. Working with the
recruiting station was a great place for me to learn more about how the Army branch of the military
is organized and how they complete their goals and objectives day to day.
During my introduction with working at the recruiting station, I met Sergeant First Class Barriger
who is Platoon sergeant and in charge of the army recruiting station. SFC Barriger told me they are
part of the 1st Brigade of USAREC (United States Army Recruiting Command) which is in Fort
Meade, Maryland. SFC Barriger is in charge of reporting to headquarters how many civilians the
station recruited on a monthly basis. He is also responsible for getting orders from headquarters to
ship out the recruits to Basic Combat Training and Advanced individual training. When I asked
SFC Barriger how the station operated itself in an organizational manner, he explained how the
duties in the recruiting station are set up and how everyone in his platoon shares different, essential
responsibilities. By completing these various duties, a proper workflow is maintained so that
civilians are more efficiently recruited and officers

management to address the conflict. Articles discussing how the particular style used can affect
stress in the workplace. Eight interviews were conducted in which subjects were asked to rate the
amount of stress they experience, the type of conflict that is experienced, and their preferred method
of conflict management. The data collected agrees with the published articles showing that the
preferred method of dealing with conflict does have an effect on the amount of stress that is
experienced by individuals in the workplace. Those favoring a compromising or collaborative

Conflict and the Effects
Conflict can be defined as a struggle between people with opposing needs, ideas, beliefs, values,
or goals (Understanding Conflict and Conflict Management). When conflict occurs in the
workplace, it can reduce moral, lower productivity, increase absenteeism, and can ultimately lead
to serious or violent crimes (Gatlin, Wysocki, Kepner, 2002). Studies show that managers spend
at least 25% of their time resolving workplace conflict (Gatlin, Wysocki, Kepner, 2002).
Productivity of managers and employees are affected by the amount of conflict they experience on
a day to day basis. How much people are affected by different conflicts can be dependent on their
personal conflict style. Each individual personality will handle a given situation in a different way.
Sources of Conflict The first step to addressing any conflict is defining what the actual conflict is.
The range of a conflict can be something very minor to a large conflict that affects an entire
department or the whole workplace. It is important to understand and be able to identify the
different levels of conflict and how they may manifest in order to manage people (Workplaces that
Work). Conflict is a predictable part of human relationships and will occur in every workplace
(Workplaces that Work).
The most basic of conflicts in the workplace is having conflicting needs (Gatlin, Wysocki, Kepner,
2002). The conflict of needs is produced by

How Empathetic Can Improve Relationships
There are many ways that being empathetic can improve relationships between people and nations.
Empathy gives people the ability to understand other people feelings. People who share empathy
with others are understanding, helpful and open minded. Understanding each other s emotions can
help keep a relationship strong and healthy. One way that empathetic can improve relationships
between people is putting themselves in the other persons situation. When you put yourself in
someone s shoes, you start to understand where they are coming from. Which will avoid arguments
and turmoil in that relationship. As for nations, that can be a great way to avoid wars. Empathygives
people the chance to help others because it gives them a clear understanding

History Of Wrestling Essay
Wrestling represents one of the oldest forms of combat. The origins of wrestling goes back 15,000
years through cave drawings in France. Here are the four old types of wrestling. Greco Roman
wrestling soon became prestigious in continental Europe and was the first style registered at the
modern Olympic Games, beginning in Athens in 1896 with one heavyweight bout, and grew in
popularity during the 20th century. Another form of wrestling is freestyle wrestling. Freestyle is a
style of amateur wrestlingthat is practiced throughout the world. Along with Greco Roman, it is

The Effects Of Hip Hop Music On Adolescents
Effects of Hip Hop Music on Adolescents Music is a significant part of the lives of most people
all over the world. In the United States, people listen to more than 25 hours each week [1]. Hip
hop makes up a large percentage of adolescent music genre preference. It goes without saying
that this overwhelming presence of music in the lives of so many people will have a
psychological effect on American culture and our way of life. But how exactly is Hip Hop
affecting us psychologically and culturally? The effects of music videos on adolescences have
been the subject of controversy for decades. The common reason for the concern has been
appropriately summed by Arnett (a Research Professor of Psychology at Clark University in
Worcester, Massachusetts), who explained, women are used as props for the illusive life the
music video is portraying the artist to have. The concern that hip hop culture, as seen in music
videos, has become heavily influential on young people s views of sexuality. The concern about
mainstream hip hop music and music videos sexualizing women, in particular, is so omnipresent,
many can even be referenced as rape culture by embedded sexual violence in the lyrics being
disguised as pleasurable elements of hip hop. The Kaiser Family Foundation in the year 2001
reported that teenagers rank entertainment media as the main source for information about sexuality
and sexual health [3]. Descriptive language and sexual imagery in music videos directly affect

Parent To Child Relationships In Romeo And Juliet
Today s parent to child relationships have become extremely fragile, but why? Communication
between parents and their children plays a key role in relationships in literature, as well as real
life. Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare explores the lives of two families in the midst of
a very long feud, the Montagues and the Capulets. When Juliet, a Capulet, and Romeo, a
Montague fall in love Juliet decides she cannot tell her parents about it, only her Nurse. The
decisions made by the two lovers led them to a point where in the end, they both end up
committing suicide. In I ll Give you the Sun by Jandy Nelson readers meet Jude, a girl struggling
to cope with her dysfunctional family, for she feels as though they have neglected her. Kathy

consciousness Higher order theories of consciousness directly state that thoughts, perceptions, and
beliefs follow the first mental orders that that connect to personal consciousness. Mostly, the
perception of something such as visible images represents the initial thought of phenomenal
consciousness. The higher order of theories of consciousness seeks to elaborate the distinct
characteristics of consciousness between the consciousness of a particular state of a question and a
representation of a higher order thought and believe of the same subject state (Carruthers, 2016).
The phenomenal consciousness consists distinctive characteristics that are challenging to explain in

subjective aspects involve feelings and personal process to undergo through their mind. According
to the higher order theory of consciousness, the mental feeling, thoughts, and perception people

  • 2. Lymphatic Filariasis Essay While this infection does cause harm to the lymphatic system, it still affects the integumentary system (skin). The skin and lymphatic system go hand in hand when this infection is present in the individual. This is seen when the skin reacts to the decreased function of the lymphatic system due to the parasitic worm. History of Lymphatic Filariasis It is unknown of how or where this infectious disease (lymphatic filariasis) arouse. The first documentation of lymphatic filariasis was not seen until an exploration that occurred in Goa during the years 1588 to 1592. Ancient artifacts though have suggested that it could have been present in early 2000BC. These artifacts were found in a number of areas in the world including Africa and Asia. Those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since lymphatic filariasis is not commonly found in America, this drug is no longer approved by the FDA and can only be obtained by a physician if lab tests come back positive for the infection. When the drug is administered, there is a 1 or 12 day treatment of DEC. This drug does not kill all adult worms, but can prevent the infection from spreading. Areas that are at high risk for becoming affected are treated through a process called preventive chemotherapy that uses 2 medicines: albendazole and ivermectin (or in some cases DEC). This medicine combination clears all microfilariae from the bloodstream and thus can prevent the further of transmission of this infectious disease. Other treatments aside from taking DEC can be the following: washing the swollen area with soap and water daily, elevate the affected area in order to improve lymphflow, and disinfect any wounds that may arise by using antibacterial. Present day research on Lymphatic Filariasis Recent research shows the transmission of lymphatic filariasis in high risk populations has dropped by 43% since the start of GPELF. Before GPELF, 81 countries were deemed as being common for lymphatic filariasis. From 2000 to 2013, over 5 billion treatments were delivered to a targeted population of about 984 million individuals in 56 countries, which reduced the transmission. Other research suggests that 73 countries are still common for this disease and out of those 73, 17 have proposed strategies to eliminate the transmission of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Every year thousands of people are killed due to people misusing guns, but there are no laws that prevent children and young teenagers from getting a hold of guns themselves. • 6. Keyence Vhx-5000 Week 3 Problem Analysis Paper The digital microscope Keyence VHX 5000 is a method, which is easy to handle and supports research with high resolution images and the calculation of 3D surface models. Several functions make it easy and quick to work with: The 3D function also allows clear 2D images of a rough surface, because all levels are focused automatically and a sharp image of all levels will be created. This function makes it easy to analyse deep cuts, which can be only partially focused in light microscopy or electron microscopy. To calculate a 3D surface model the lower and upper border of the depth of interest has to be determined, by focusing on these levels. Between these borders a level difference of five microns were chosen. In other words, after every scan the lens moves five microns from the sample away.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To avoid steps between the different levels, the edges will be rounded. Therefore a minimal resolution of five microns is valid for the cut mark measurements, although the software allows measurements till to decimals because of its logarithm to calculate the surface. In this dissertation, all measurements are fully specified. However, a less accuracy of values less than five microns must not be forgotten. Higher resolutions till one micrometre are also possible, but the number of scanned levels is restricted. Therefore it is possible to analyse fine cut marks in a higher resolution, but in this case, cuts were up to 1 mm deep and a smaller resolution is sufficient. Using this resolution, the ends of cuts, which are very flat, were excluded because their size is approximately under 15 microns and therefore inaccuracies in measurement increase, which might influence the ... • 9. Hearing People Communication This article presented me with many observations on the way both Deaf and hearing people communicate that I had not considered before. My prior experiences as a non signing hearing person communicating with Deaf people have been limited to communicating through an interpreter or slowing down my naturally fast rate of talking so that my lips could read. Admittedly, albeit naГЇvely, I had never considered that I could improve my communication with other hearing people through tips and tricks that Deaf people just use naturally when communicating with one another, however, this article changed that completely. One thing that kind of surprised me a little at first is that Deaf people routinely pass messages much faster and more precisely than any hearing person. It would seem like being able to communicate orally would make getting messages across much easier, however, just thinking back to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Add on top this our tendency to speak over one another and there s a wonder we ever get anything communicated. ASL requires deaf people to not only speak one at a time, but the people listening have to give the speaker their full attention so that they can understand what has been said, which is something that hearing people could definitely improve upon. I also agree with Dr. Kahne s point that there is a huge difference between our cultures in asking for clarification. If a deaf person doesn t understand what has been said they will ask to have it repeated, whereas there seems to be a stigma against that for many hearing people. Since we don t have to have our eyes on the speaker to understand them, this allows for our eyes, and quite often also our minds, to wander. As a result we don t end up understanding all or part of what was said and then for whatever reason, instead of asking them to repeat it, we just smile and nod and pretend like we were paying attention the entire ... As a counselor, it is important to be able to be competent in a variety of cultures to be effective. Being cultural competent means having the awareness, knowledge and skills needed to function effectively with culturally diverse populations (Sue Sue, 2016). This project required immersing in a culture that is different from your own. I was allowed the opportunity to experience being the only one in a culture that is different from what I am used to. Albany Rescue Mission Larry Hample came to Albany in 1960 after he was stationed at Turner Air Base. After seeing all the people without homes on the streets, he felt an overwhelming sense of sympathy and compassion (Our History, n.d.). Larry, also known as Brother Larry, knew he had to do something about it. That is when he started the Albany Rescue Mission. Advantage And Disadvantage Of Housemaids Introduction For this project, I investigate the current debate surrounding the idea of keeping housemaids with children for purposes; such as, taking care of the children and serving them is a good or bad idea. Besides, because our values and norms are changed; as well as, our behaviors and thoughts are changed by technology and globalization. In the past, there were no housemaids and the parents have to serve themselves; in contrast, now, both parents are working, so they need somebody to help them at home and to look after their children. However, with all advantages of housemaids, everything has a negative side and housemaids also have disadvantages. This research will examine this on a global or international scope. Conclusion/Recommendations To conclude, leaving the children with housemaids can create problems; for example, they will make unethical behaviors, they will be close to the children more than their parents and they will impact the children s language. However, you can solve those problems by putting your children in daycare or nursery school where can play and interact with other children instead of picking up a new language or bad behaviors. The second solution is living with a big family that children can communicate more with people from same beliefs and behaviors. For a trust to be deemed as completely constituted, all of the relevant formalities must have been satisfied by the settlor, hence the legal title of the property must transfer to the trustees. The reason for a conveyance of property to the hands of trustee is explained in Milroy v Lord (1862) by Turner L.J. is that a valid and effectual voluntary settlement will exist, when the settlor have done everything which was necessary according to the nature of property comprised in the settlement, which is to transfer that particular property to the trustee. To achieve that, I have determined myself to achieve as minimum grades, two B+ and three A for this semester and for Spring and Fall of 2017. So far, I have performed quite well on my exams and projects this semester. However, on one class I barely passed my first exam with a 70 even though I felt I was prepared to obtain a much better grade. Therefore, to achieve my goal of maintaining a GPA of 3.5, I m tasked with preparing one week in advance for the exams on this particular course to achieve at least a final grade of B. In addition to that, I found that completing the assignments even a month before they were due helped me clear my schedule and allowed me more time to do research on internship opportunities. To determine if I have achieved a significative progress in maintaining a GPA above 3.5, I will join Beta Gamma Sigma on Spring 2017 and remain part of it until I graduate. In addition, I ll change my studying technique for exams and prepare a week prior to the tests. I will be able to determine the effectiveness of such technique if I m able to obtain at least an 80 on the second exam for the course I m having difficulty with this semester. To narrow more in on the topic, I have chosen to discuss the oppression of women in the work force and all the different forms of oppression women face. Oppression is defined as, A situation in which people are governed in an unfair and cruel way and prevented from having opportunities and freedom, (dictionary.cambridge.org). Oppression can be caused by many different things. People can feel oppressed because they are being compared to the opposite gender. People can be oppressed being compared to other age groups. And people can feel oppressed when being compared to different races. Women of color feel oppressed because they are constantly being compared to white women, and some may say they do not always have the same privileges as others. I have enjoyed reading and researching about this topic, but at the same time have had a hard time truly understanding it. To be completely transparent I am a privileged white girl and throughout my whole life I have never felt that I faced oppression. I have witnessed it, but never experienced it. The oppression I have witnessed has only been in the work force; which I will discuss later on. The interest and research invested into the area of exosome biogenesis and the topic of exosomes as a whole has gained momentum in the last decade (Urbanelli, L. et al. 2013). Their discovery in 1983, detailed in two papers published in JCB (Harding et al) and in Cell (Pan and Johnstone), showed that the nomenclature had been prescribed wrongly to a broad range of membrane vesicles that bud directly from the plasma membrane (Clifford V. Harding. et al. 2013). When in fact the term exosome more accurately describes small vesicles, ranging from 30 100nm in diameter (Urbanelli, L. et al. 2013), that originate via a different mechanism of budding than apoptotic bodies and microvesicles, (Yu, S. et al. 2015). Whilst exosomes have been retrieved in many body fluids, for example; blood, urine, saliva and cerebrospinal fluid (Urbanelli, L. et al. 2013). Exosome Biogenesis Exosomes are exceptional from other types of vesicles based on a number of factors; including their size (relatively small in comparison), morphology, cargo composition and most distinctly, their endosomal origin (ThГ©ry C. 2002). Familiar types of vesicles such as microvesicles are formed at the cell surface, budding directly from the plasma membrane (Alenquer, M. et al. 2015). Exosome biogenesis follows an alternative method that begins in the early endosome (Huotari, J and Helemius, A. 2011), whereby the ultimate result is the formation of intraluminal vesicles (IVL s) inside the lumen of the endosome, this aggregate body is known as the multivesicular body (MVB) or the multivesicular endosome (MVE). Initially the early endosomal membrane, tube like in shape (Beach, A. et al, 2014), buds inwards via intraluminal invagination (Lopez Verrilli, M and Court, F. 2013), randomly engulfing sections of the cytosol contents such as the peripheral and transmembrane proteins. This formation of the IVL s noticeably augments as the endosomes mature (Huotari, J and Helemius, A. 2011) and after transformation the late endosome is more spherical in shape (Beach, A. et al. 2014). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The term is often related with negative meanings of powerlessness, passivity, and some victims could be even perceived as inferiors. It is also important to note that when the word victim is gendered, it is biased towards the female sex. Therefore, assumptions that females are passive and weak also coincide with the assumptions of victims. The alternative term survivor is sometimes preferred, particularly by feminists, as it places emphasis on their strength and the severity of the experience with crime. In addition, groups may also be victims; usually involving a type of hate crime such as racism or homophobia. In victimology, there are still many unanswered questions and difficulties to find patterns that would easily classify victims, because nobody is exempt from becoming a victim. Nevertheless, some clichГ©d views about victims are embedded in our society. For example, Christie (1986) describes the idea of the ideal victim, which is, in fact a person who is easily given the status of being a victim. Ideal victims are perceived as blameless, law abiding, usually female, vulnerable and worthy of help, sympathy and attention. • 31. Native American Tribes Of Native Americans In The 17th And... During the 17th and 18th centuries, the Illinois were an Indian tribe situated around the Great Lakes. As with most other Native American tribes, they encountered the French expanders. The French were expanding their territories to the Great Lakes because of fur trading. They traded fur, clothes, jewels, and food with the Illinois. After encountering the Illinois traditions and customs, the French wanted to overpower them and place the tribe under their way of life. A strong Catholic country, the French despised the Illinois s polygamous and polytheistic lifestyle. In an attempt to convert the tribes to Catholicism, the French sent missionaries to spread the Gospel and teach the faith. They were not met with as much adversity as expected. Illinois Indian women were attracted to Catholicism because of the freedoms the faith gave them from their everyday lives and the strong influence of a prominent woman from within the tribe. Societal norms in the 17th and 18th centuries dictated that men fill the role of the head of the household. Similarly, the Illinois men held power within the tribe. Not only were they in charge of hunting wild game and trading with the French, but they were also given power over women in their homes. I advised that this would be a great time to start the virtualization project and we can use the new ERP system as the test bed. If we choose not to merge with the virtualization project to take advantage of the hardware, then we will need to establish costs for the new hardware and if this will fit into the current budget. We will then need to decide if the users will require extensive training for the new replacement software. Because this is brand new software utilizing a GUI, the users will need training. To find which of the meanings fit the text best one must look at the Hebrew context. Since there is no word for of in the biblical Hebrew, Hebrew uses what is called a construct chain to define what type of (possessive) relationship between two nouns. A construct chain is when two nouns are placed side by side in which the (possessive) relationship between these two nouns is expressed. In a constructive chain, the word of is implied because each of the nouns is side by side. Most of the time two different translations is possible, for example law of Moses or Moses law. Now as to some of the possible meanings of the phrase law of Moses there are a few. The most assumed meaning is that Moses wrote the law this comes from the constructive chain that is being in the subjective genitive form of authorship which could mean Moses wrote the law The problem with this is that this does not necessarily mean all , meaning that it does not explicitly suggest that Moses wrote all of the law. Therefore, there are other possible meanings to the phrase the law of Moses. Other possible meaning would be that Moses had possession of the law , the law was given to Moses, the law was for Moses, or law about Moses. Working with the recruiting station was a great place for me to learn more about how the Army branch of the military is organized and how they complete their goals and objectives day to day. During my introduction with working at the recruiting station, I met Sergeant First Class Barriger who is Platoon sergeant and in charge of the army recruiting station. SFC Barriger told me they are part of the 1st Brigade of USAREC (United States Army Recruiting Command) which is in Fort Meade, Maryland. SFC Barriger is in charge of reporting to headquarters how many civilians the station recruited on a monthly basis. He is also responsible for getting orders from headquarters to ship out the recruits to Basic Combat Training and Advanced individual training. When I asked SFC Barriger how the station operated itself in an organizational manner, he explained how the duties in the recruiting station are set up and how everyone in his platoon shares different, essential responsibilities. By completing these various duties, a proper workflow is maintained so that civilians are more efficiently recruited and officers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
