Ella is Battling Cancer
Cancer is Chronic disease in which abnormal cells divide without control and are able to invade other
tissues. Cancer cells can spread to other parts of the body through the blood and lymph systems (NCI,
2013). Breast cancer in particular affects both women and men, though our focus is on Ella Miller
who is the heart of the Miller family. Ella has been battling cancer for years now and even though she
went into remission, the cancer has returned. This Situation is affecting her view on life and well as
her family view on life with and without her. The purpose of this paper is to inform and introduce
factual background of breast cancer, medical treatment options, suggestions of coping with this illness
for the family and Ella as well as an outlook regarding the micro, macro and mezzo influences of the
patient and family. This paper will educate Ella and her family on lifespan development and outcomes
pertaining to breast cancer.
Cancer is a term used for diseases in which abnormal cells divide without control and are able to
invade other tissues. Cancer cells can spread to other parts of the body through the blood and lymph
systems (NCI, 2013). Cancer is of many diseases. It originates from the organ in the body and/or from
the part of the body that is affected, for example breast cancer. Breast cancer is mainly common
among women, except for skin cancers. Breast cancer occurs when cells in the breast divide and grow
without their normal control (Komen, 2014). The

The Charter At Suffolk Speech And Hearing Center
The covenant not to compete that Ms. Rice signed as a part of her employment contract at Suffolk
Speech and Hearing Center ( Suffolk Speech ) is most likely going to be found enforceable. As found
in Technical Aid Corp v. Allen, there is a three prong test to determine whether or not a restrictive
covenant is reasonable and therefore enforceable. 591 A.2d 262, 265 66 (N.H. 1991). The first being,
is the restriction greater than is necessary to protect the legitimate interests of the employer. Id.
Secondly, does the restriction impose an undue hardship on the employee. Id. at 266. And lastly, is the
restriction injurious to the public. Id. For the purposes of this memo, only the first two elements will
be analyzed as the third has already been found to be a non issue. Because the covenant that Ms. Rice
signed at the start of her employment at Suffolk Speech was reasonable in that it protects Suffolk
speech from competition in an appropriate surrounding area that does not pose an undue hardship, it
will be very difficult for the court to deem the covenant unenforceable. The first issue that must go
satisfied or unsatisfied is whether or not the restriction from the covenant not to compete was greater
than necessary to protect to legitimate interests of Suffolk Speech. Id. The court must evaluate a few
things when determining whether this element is satisfied or not. Important factors to determine if the
restriction is greater than necessary includes the size of the company,

Hurricanes form only in warm ocean waters near the equator. Cumulonimbus clouds are present, the
warm air over the ocean rises and high and low air pressure pushes new warm air. Then air rises and
begin to swirl. Storms north of the equator tend to spin counterclockwise while storms south spin
clockwise. When the storm keeps rotating quickly an eye forms, and when the winds reach 39 mph it
is officially a called a tropical storm. And when the storm reaches 74 mph then it is safe to call it a
tropical cyclone or hurricane. (How do hurricanes form, 2016)
In order for a hurricane to occur the atmosphere must meet certain conditions. The ocean water has to

Pros And Cons Of Emotional Perceptions In Psychology
a) The background of the theory is based off of the assumption that emotional disorders arise from the
person s inability to understand and react in a healthy matter to systems within him or herself over
which the person has little control.
b) The underlying assumptions of this theory are that psychological problems result from improper
perceptions of an event rather than the event or stimulus itself.
c) The views of human development and maladaptive behavior are that people misperceive
psychological turmoil due to how they have been conditioned throughout their lives to think or feel
about something.
d) The typical assessment measures are formal assessments, after which the therapist develops a
treatment plan for the client.
e) Treatment methods in cognitive therapy are for the therapist to help the clients see the ways in
which his or her thought processes are faulty and unravel the perceptions that he or she previously had
towards emotional responses to stimuli.
f) The process of therapy consists of helping the client adopt more adaptive attitudes and adjusting
misconceptions to make them more based in reality.
g) This book is theoretical and does not address current research on treatment outcomes.
h) This book does not address issues of individual and cultural diversity.
i) The pros of this perspective are that it addresses the fact that negative emotions and stress often
comes from misperceptions of an event. This provides a sense of control to the client, that

The Murders In The Rue Morgue By Aydelotte
Detective stories that have been published over the years all contain dramatic elements that the reader
has come to expect. These conventions that Aydelotte discussed in The Dectective Story as a
Historical Source are especially ever present in Edgar Allen Poe s The Murders in the Rue Morgue
and they shed light on the concerns of the people of the time.
Primarily, readers read detective stories because they expect a dramatic event to happen whether that
be criminal activity or more prominently, a murder. The audience of The Murders in the Rue Morgue
didn t have extremely eventful lives; it wasn t every day that a horrid murder would take place in the
real streets of Paris. They desperately craved excitement for their boring days and for that, they turned
to books: detective stories in particular. The horror of the actual act offered a form of excitement and
entertainment to the reader. The story allowed them to escape from their already routine life. Other
than that, the society in detective stories like The Murders in the Rue Morgue was outwardly perfect in
which the characters have very simple problems (Aydelotte, pg. 4). Everything in the society went
right, up until the point of the murder. The fact that a seemingly ideal world was interrupted by such a
gruesome event, offered the reader a reality check and made them aware of their anxiety of the evil
that exists in the world. For the audience of detective stories, The mess, confusion, and frustration of
life have

California is home to the largest wine industry within the U.S., the California Wine Industry annually
accounts for 93% of wine production throughout the entire U.S. California is the fourth largest wine
producer in the world (Fruit of the Vine 1). The reason California is able to produce an abundance of
wine is due to the fact that California does not have severely cold winters, however California does
have hot and dry summers, which provide the various regions within the California Wine Industry
ideal growing conditions (An Introduction to California Wine 8 9). These ideal weather conditions
have allowed the California Wine Industry to yield a prodigious amount of revenue. The wine industry

was convicted of a crime he didn t commit due to the Big Brother like surveillance system ctOS 2.0.
Afterward, he sets out to take down the mal purposed software and Blume, the company behind it. To
accomplish this, he enlists with the hacktivist group DedSec and takes on a variety of missions in and
around San Francisco. While first playing the game, I noticed how different it felt from the original
entry in the series. Instead of opening with cut scenes of a digital heist gone wrong followed by the
traumatic death of the main character s niece, the game starts off by tasking the player to break into a
guarded server farm while fun electronic music plays in the background. They even throw in a
Mission Impossible reference in the first lines of dialogue when a mysterious digitally altered voice
says: Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to bypass Blume s security doors and get inside

Arabian Nights Research Paper
Arabian Nights Essay The stories of The Arabian Nights examine the idea of living a more meaningful
life. Indeed, the stories suggest that certain life lessons need to be learned in order to live a more
prosperous and meaningful life. In each story, therefore, Sheharezade imparts a great deal of wisdom
to her husband, the Sultan Shariar, in an attempt to change his perspective on life, and to save her
own. From her stories he learns, firstly, that in order to live well a person must accept responsibility
for their actions. The sultan also learns that trust and loyalty, either given or betrayed, has a significant
impact on a person s capability to live a life with meaning. Finally, he learns that wealth offers
opportunity to accomplish great good or great evil; however, it is important for a truly successful
person to treat wealth responsibly and to value people more than material items. From every story she
tells him, both the Sultan and the viewer understand more about the importance of living a truly
meaningful life and how to do so. One lesson that a number of characters must learn in order to
change their ways and live more prosperously is to accept responsibility for their actions. In the story

We Must Obey And Obey Authority
We as a society conform to the idea that it is always necessary to obey authority. This is such a
normalized function of everyday life, that it has resulted in us losing sight of our own moral
convictions. Not every act of this expected obedience is conscious. We have fell into the habit of
obeying first and asking questions later. Even worse than that, we have developed a more destructive
habit of not questioning authority at all. Our moral judgements have became clouded by our
understanding of authority as well as the desire and expectation to conform with others opinions and
actions.
From a very young ages we are taught not to question authority. It is instilled in our heads as children
that authority figures are always right and that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another concept of how children are taught authority is proposed by Professor Marta Laupa. Her
research of the development mental psychology has lead her to believe that childrens ideas and
understanding of obedience do not come from reward and punishment, but from early understanding
of social organization and status (Laupa 333). Social status and the concept of reward and punishment
all greatly influence our first understandings of what it means and why we obey authority. Both of
these influences affect our ability to recognizing authority as an abusive power as children and
continues into later adulthood.
When taught not to question authority and to see others as superior to you because of age or position,
this instills in our minds that authority figures commit no wrongful acts. Our minds are programmed
not to question authority as children, and when taught to see others as superior in power to you
because of age and position, we no longer think to question our own moral convictions, but insteads
trust the moral judgements of our superior figures. This results in authority more often than not taking
advantage of their power and asking their followers to participate in acts that go against their own
moral beliefs. An extreme example of this is how terrorist organizations follow their leaders, yet we
see their acts as wrong, because they have such a high standard of respect, trust, or even fear in their
leader they see nothing wrong in their actions. We grow up in a

Social Differences In The North And South

The Southerners thought they were doing everything right until the Northers disagreed with their
ways. As the North was expanding rapidly and more immigrants were coming. The South was not
changing much at all. After Abraham Lincoln was elected the South felt powerless especially in the
political party. The North was growing and changing a lot for the people. Southerners were staying
safe and sticking to the same old traditions of having cotton and slaves to be rich. The North and south
have many differences like social, economical and also political differences.

North did not want slavery anymore but the South disagreed. Lincoln thought it was totally unfair to
keep a human being as a slave worker. The South wanted a small central government and slaves thats
all. They did not like the North barging in with this new idea of taking away their money (slaves).
They fought back in the decision of freeing slaves. The South wanted to be left alone to make their

the government, politics, etc. Soon World War II came. As soon as Lincoln set out his troops he used
the telegraph to communicate with them (America The Story of Us movie notes). The North and the
South set in with the most deadly called the Minie Bullet. This was considered the most deadly
because once it came in tact to you it would shatter a bone which would splinter into your flesh
causing more bleeding and infections. There were a lot more amputations because of this bullet. The
telegraph was a great use in the war. Lincoln was always looking for something in them like a clue, as
soon as he found a bit of anything he would telegraph the general and direct combat. He would also

Challenges Of Air Freight Demand And Potential Solutions...
Challenges in Air Freight Demand and Potential Solutions
1.Introduction
Air freight market is not stable and might be weak because of uncertain international trade increase
(Barnard,2015). There was fluctuation in air cargo demand over the last 10 years from 2006 to 2016
which indicates that cargo demand could be changed by some external and internal influences. Some
figures were released about worldwide air freight market and presented that air cargo capacity
increased 2.2%, comparing to 2014. While this was the 5% growth calculated by The International Air
Transport Association (IATA), the growth of cargo volumes in 2015 was much slower than
2014(Barnard, 2015). However, some experts pointed out that global air freight market get a positive
growth from 2011, and it is enjoying a relatively steady growth, due to the enhanced trade and
economic recovery after the global financial crisis of 2008(Huang,2016). Because of sluggish world
trade growth, air cargo suppliers face a lot of challenges including alternative transportation,
perspective uncertainty and unexpected policy and here are some potential solutions: improving
customers service, efficiency, security and reducing negative environmental impacts.
This essay attempts to describe current air freight market conditions, challenges in air freight demand
and generate potential solutions to increase air cargo demand. It is divided into four parts: air freight,
current demand for air freight, challenges, and potential

Othello Illusion Vs Reality
Illusion vs. Reality
When thought up of the idea of illusions multiple things come to mind: magic tricks, mind games, and
so much more. With such positive outlooks on illusions it s difficult to see how the use of them could
possibly be used in a negative way. Within the play Othello, Shakespeare plays with the idea of
unreliable reality to seek his revenge. Through the misfortunes of lies and gullibility the
misunderstanding of illusion and reality soon lead to the tragic downfall of many.
As soon as the play takes off Iago lets the readers know his true intentions. He states to Roderigo that
he is going to be the Moorships biggest mistake after he found out Othello chose Cassio to be his
Lieutenant (I. i. 35). From this information it is gathered that Iago seeks revenge and the use of
illusion vs. reality will make his plans all the more believable. After seen Iago s true colors it s iconic
to see how many times he is called by the name Honest Iago . This name is an illusion in itself
knowing he is anything but honest. Cassio even goes on to say I never/knew/a Florentine more kind
and honest (III. i. 43 45). Cassio truly believes his words are humble but only the readers can

I am not what I am (1.1.66). Throughout Iago s entire master plan he never hesitates to wonder if
anyone is going to catch on to his schemes, Since Iago sees the moor as a free and open nature that

Dissecting Clarke s Cosmological Argument
Dissecting Clarke s Cosmological Argument
In the following paper, I will outline Samuel Clarke s Modern Formulation of the Cosmological
Argument and restate some of the points that he makes. Samuel Clarke s argument for the existence of
God states that There has existed from eternity some one unchangeable and independent being (37).
The argument follows a logical flow and can be better understood when the structure is laid out and
the argument reconstructed.
Clarke begins his argument with a use of disjunctive syllogism, a form of valid logical reasoning that
proposes two outcomes, denies one, and thus proves the other to be true. Clarke s premise states that
one of the two following statements must be true: either there has ... Show more content on

He states that since the series of dependent beings couldn t be caused by any external or internal
source, that it would have to be cause absolutely by nothing . He then states that this is a contradiction
to be done in time; and because duration in this case makes no difference. He also states that it is a
contradiction to suppose it done from eternity. Since the universe has parts that come into existence at
one occasion and not another, it must have a cause. There could supposedly be an infinite regress of
causes if there was evidence for such, but lacking such evidence, God must exist as the cause. Clarke
does not specifically identify God at any point in his argument. He ends with There must be on the
contrary, of necessity have existed from eternity, some one immutable and independent Being (37).
Whatever one chooses to call this Being , it is the one unchangeable and independent being that
Clarke attempts to prove the existence of in his argument.

Distinguishing Factors In The Other Wes Moore
Distinguishing Factors
One of the great things about the The other Wes Moore is the simple retelling of two completely
different lives. It is interesting how Moore does not advise but rather hopes that each person will
develop their own idea and construct about what the moral of the story may be. And furthermore about
how it applies to an individual s life.
The story starts with the question of what if? That question starts the reader off in a state of mind to
question the turning point for each person. There are many key ideas that led two children of similar
background to completely different lives. The main cause for both Wes Moore s would arguably be the
families in which each character was surrounded by. And it is actually that idea that shows that they
did not begin with the same background at all. Each boy had a family and heritage that they grew up
with that influenced their train of thought and behaviors. Moore, the writer of the book seemed to be

as looking very thin and beautiful. People that see these famous females begin to idealize that body
image. The male gender also visualizes these famous females and thinks that all females should have

all used different techniques to get their point across. All of the authors used pathos as their main

The most important rhetorical technique is ethos, which only two of the different articles used. The
reason ethos is so important is because it tells the reader whether or not the author s information is

United States population has. A person being overly concerned about their appearance within society

Sport Psychology in the Film Coach Carter
Sports psychology deals with the mental and emotional aspects of physical performance. It involves
describing, explaining and predicting attitudes, feelings and behaviours in an attempt to improve
performance. In the film Coach Carter, directed by Thomas Carter, sport psychology is used
effectively to enhance the performance of a high school basketball team. However, this improved
performance is not limited to the basketball court, it extends into the classroom where the students use
goal setting, motivation, concentration and confidence control, ultimately to become accepted into
college, avoiding a life of drugs, gangs and prison. In the film, many sport psychology techniques are
used to turn the immature teenagers of the Richmond ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the athletes turn up to training late, they run. As well as negative motivation, negative
reinforcement is present in the scene where Coach Carter is giving statistical feedback to his athletes.
Mr Worm, you were five and four... five turnovers and four missed free throws. As a result of these
errors, Coach Carter decides to add an extra practise session every morning at 6am to teach his players
the fundamentals of the game. One type of motivation left out of Coach Carters repertoire is intrinsic
motivation. Intrinsic motivation is the desire to learn and perform well that comes from within an
individual. This is a shame because intrinsic motivation has been proven to be the most successful
type of motivation when it comes to keeping a commitment. Although intrinsic motivation does come
from within an individual, eg; the desire to win a trophy for a grandfather, it can still be inspired by a
coach. Behaviour becomes either more or less likely depending on its consequences. The theory is that
if you reward behaviours they are more likely to occur again, while punishment is more likely to
reduce the chances of that behaviour occurring in the future. Coach Carter successfully uses negative
motivation, however, positive motivation is rarely used and sport psychology research
overwhelmingly supports the use of a predominantly (80 90%) positive approach. (Peak Performance
issue 214) That said, the negative approach works very well in this situation

The Call of Cthulhu is a horror story that is able to break through and cause terror. The horror comes
from forcing the reader to witness awful and unexplainable things happen to the characters in the
story, especially without the ability to prevent the misfortunes from happening. It becomes terror
because Lovecraft places the entire story in our reality rather then a fictional setting. Becuase of this,
we are forced to relate the story s events to our physical world. It inflicts a sense of danger by
insinuating that the forces in the story exist around us. Lovecraft is able to effectively place the

Software Design Of A Computer Based System
A key requirement of the software design of a computer based system is to transform basic
requirements into an architecture that describes the software s top level structure and identifies its
components. Accomplishment of this requirement is through architectural design, providing a
blueprint for developing the framework of the software (Mattsson, Lundell, Lings, Fitzgerald, 2009).
The establishment of the framework involves examining the software requirements document and
designing a model for providing necessary implementation details. The details specify components of
the system along with all inputs, outputs, functions, and the interactions between the components. This
paper includes a description of the architectural design of a computer based system that has transform
characteristics, and includes a data flow diagram with process narrative, and evaluation of the
architectural design. Further, an assessment of the structuring requirements associated with software
architecture is included.
Architectural Design Structure An architectural design performs key functions, and is of crucial
importance in software engineering during the phase of software development where the essential
requirements of reliability, cost, and performance are determined. Architectural design provides the
definition of the abstraction level at which the software design specifies both the functional and
performance behaviors of the system, and the guidelines for enhancing the system by

The idea of Male Dominance is common throughout most of the developing countries in the world.
According to Huffington Post, While women s economic status varies from country to country in the

whatever else, and he endeavored to conquer his dyslexia. His endeavors were remunerated in 1903
when he picked up acknowledgement into the Virginia Military Foundation. After a year of study,
Patton was admitted to the U.S. Military Foundation at West Point, however insufficiencies in science

Theory Analysis And Skill Training
1. Briefly explain the concept of paradigm.
A paradigm is defined as the fundamental way in which we think and define reality. It may include
values and beliefs that influence our decisions on what is real and what is not. It is how we know the
things we know. It is our own awareness of ourselves as observers and knowers and may relate to how
we think and act in certain situations. It is also how we process what is real and how we present our
knowings to others. In a paradigm no right or wrong answers are presented but instead fundamental
assumptions are used.
2.What is the dominant paradigm guiding practice and research in special education? Explain a few
key features of this paradigm.
The dominant paradigm is known as the Newtonian Mechanistic Paradigm and is often referred to as
the machine paradigm. This paradigm views animals and humans as machines. Simplicity is very
important and all complexity is often broken down and translated. Information is arranged logically
and sequentially. The theory includes task analysis and skill training and has a focus on quantity
instead of quality. It also ranks human behavior. This method does not value personal knowledge or
individuality. It does not focus on the process of learning or students motivation for learning.
3. Can you cite any professional examples of mechanistic practice that you ve encountered? (or if you

Gender And Misrepresentation In Sports And Media
Gender representation and in particular misrepresentation is a key issue within sport and media today
as female coverage of sport is overlooked in all forms of mainstream media. This issue is what we, as
a group of 3, had to tackle and present to our academic peers in a student led seminar session. The
issue derives from the main theme of sport and media and their relationship but could also be said to
have direct links to other themes such as sport and (in) equality. Gender representation comes under
both media and equality in terms of broader topics because it is the concern of the media to help
broadcast more female sport and raise awareness of the inequality which exists to the wide audience it
has to target, this doesn t happen enough currently. Research by Cooky et al. (2013) suggests that
female sports coverage on ESPN sport takes up around 3% of coverage time which is a shocking
disparity compared to men s coverage on the same channel. It also found that 0 news stories on
WNBA were published out of season across multiple news channels while the NBA had 72 stories.
Studying this topic is particularly important to understand historically and culturally why this problem
exists as well as to look at the negative ideologies which exist within sports media around the subject
of gender representation. One of the key sociological ideas which we introduced to our class mates
during the seminar was the concept of gender ideology, masculinity and how this impacts

Pip from child to adult; from humble blacksmith to gentleman; from innocence to experience; from
rags to riches and on his journey, Pip meets a range of interesting characters, from the comical

The fact that Magwitch is soaked in water, smothered in mud, lamed by stones, cut by flints and stung

here? This creates conflicting emotions within the reader. Dickens also uses characters speech to make
them striking and memorable for the reader. We actually hear Magwitch before we see him and his
first words are hold your noise! This immediately shocks us as well as Pip and the use of the

Voltaire Rationalism
Voltaire was a rebellious and radical thinker, whose sharp wit and pointed satire drew the ire of critics
who say he disrespected the orthodoxy of church and state, and won the respect of a growing
rationalist movement that had emerged out of the public sphere in Europe between the 17th and 18th
centuries. Although Voltaire is known today for being a philosophical powerhouse, whose writing is
the stuff of legend, for most of his life he only wrote plays, poems, and novels. It wasn t until he was
almost forty in 1733 that he published his first major philosophical work, Letters Concerning the
English Nation. This was a series of letters that describe the customs, cultures and great men of
England, and even though his praise for England, a country where all the arts are honored and
rewarded, and where one could think free and nobly without being held back by any servile fear, may
be overblown, they are important nonetheless, because it highlights the virtues that an Enlightened
society should strive for. (114) In many ways these were not so much love letters to England, as much
as they were a call for the rest of Europe to progress in the rationalist movement that England had set
the tone for. Voltaire had suffered many setbacks in life before his trip to England in spring of 1726
that had shaped his mindset, and made him skeptical to authority. He was born Francois Marie Arouet
to a French aristocratic family in 1694 during the reign of king Louis XIV. When Voltaire

soon enough I would begin my cheerleading career. Little did I know I would lose something I couldn

Marilyn Frye The Politics Of Reality Summary
The intentions of Feminism are still often misinterpreted even today in the twenty first century despite
this being a modern era. Marilyn Frye s discussion on the role of women in society in the text The
Politics of Reality focuses on her definition of oppression , its criteria and how it applies to feminist
theory. Frye immediately opens her discussion with this statement; it is a fundamental claim of
feminism that women are oppressed , (1983, p:1). It is important to note that she has used the word
claim as it implies that the oppression of women is still a matter of debate. As a disclaimer, she makes
it clear that the purpose of this text is not to prove that women are in fact oppressed, but to gain clarity
on the meaning of the term ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firstly, Frye discusses the etymology of the word oppression stating that it has its elements from the
word press , 1983, p: 2. She then gives imagery in order to demonstrate that the word is very
restrictive in nature as if something were; caught between or among forces and barriers which are so
related to each other that jointly they restrain, restrict or prevent the thing s motion or mobility , (Frye,
1983, p:2). Frye makes the point that he first criterion in defining oppression is that the oppressed is
restricted or limited in some manner, giving the sense that they have been moulded, immobilised or
reduced. She exemplifies this notion with the following comparison using her theory of the double
bind theory. According to Frye, in the United States, young women, are locked in a bind where if they
exhibit that they are heterosexually active, then she is explicitly regarded as loose, unprincipled or a
whore , 1983, p:2. The woman may then feel that she must hide her behaviour from her parents who
are likely to look down on her for her promiscuity. She will also face criticism by her peers as being
an easy lay and put down in comparison to her friends who practise more restraint, (Frye, 1983, p:3).

To be sincere I never thought about it. What is the appendix?
The appendix is a pouch the size of a finger part of the large intestine and placed in the lower right
abdomen. It is not yet fully understood its operation, although some theories suggest that it plays a
secondary role in the immune system, is the widespread view that it is totally unnecessary. The
removal of the appendix does not seem to have any effect on a person s health. What causes
appendicitis? Obstruction of the lumen (the inside of the Appendix) can cause appendicitis. The mucus
produced recedes into the lumen causing the multiplication of bacteria normally found in the
appendix. The consequence is that the appendix swells and becomes infected.
Sources of obstruction can be: feces, parasites, abnormal growth of the lymphatic tissue (for example
due to the Crohn s disease), foreign bodies or stones (grapes, cherries, peppers) tumors. An inflamed
appendix probably burst if not removed. Bursting would spread the infection throughout the abdomen,
causing peritonitis.
To whom it may happen? All subjects can be appendicitis, but is most common in people between 10
and 30 years of age.
What are the symptoms of appendicitis? Most people with appendicitis classic symptoms that any
doctor can easily identify. The main symptom is abdominal pain, usually sudden, often inducing a

How Our Founding Fathers Shaped America Today Essay
In our everyday lives, we come across myths, from fairy tales to facts that people assumed were true.
Yet these myths that usually originate from truth are used as a base for how we live our everyday

country s literature that just cannot be lived up to when our founding fathers were writing these

Yet in modern America, we see these rights that we were granted to us such as life, liberty and the
pursuit of happiness altered in ways that outrage us, or slip right through the cracks. Today, Americans
are finding it harder and harder to move up and down the class system that we have, or our ability to
have social mobility. People who are poor end up stay poor, and rich 1% end up getting richer. This is
slander to our right to pursuit happiness, even if it is subtle. Another significant example of our rights
being altered would be our right to freedom, which wasn t full of justice to begin with. Americans
have made substantial strives to make freedom for everyone happen, not just those of white skin color.
Thousands of deaths and many right movements later, we finally have some sort of freedom and
equality today. Yet there are still movements today, such as the white leadership rallies, that try and
strip away these rights for minorities. Americans also have lost the right to have privacy. Although the

The Huns In Disney s Mulan
1.1 The Huns
From the very beginning the Huns in Disney s Mulan are portrayed as evil incarnate. In the opening
scenes, they are associated with an eerie atmosphere heightened by ominous sounds. The Huns do not

with a swarm of insects; the Hun soldiers are not only deprived of their humanity, but also their status
as primates is uncertain. As a group they are no longer animal like, but they create a giant entity, like a

  • 3. The Charter At Suffolk Speech And Hearing Center The covenant not to compete that Ms. Rice signed as a part of her employment contract at Suffolk Speech and Hearing Center ( Suffolk Speech ) is most likely going to be found enforceable. As found in Technical Aid Corp v. Allen, there is a three prong test to determine whether or not a restrictive covenant is reasonable and therefore enforceable. 591 A.2d 262, 265 66 (N.H. 1991). The first being, is the restriction greater than is necessary to protect the legitimate interests of the employer. Id. Secondly, does the restriction impose an undue hardship on the employee. Id. at 266. And lastly, is the restriction injurious to the public. Id. For the purposes of this memo, only the first two elements will be analyzed as the third has already been found to be a non issue. Because the covenant that Ms. Rice signed at the start of her employment at Suffolk Speech was reasonable in that it protects Suffolk speech from competition in an appropriate surrounding area that does not pose an undue hardship, it will be very difficult for the court to deem the covenant unenforceable. The first issue that must go satisfied or unsatisfied is whether or not the restriction from the covenant not to compete was greater than necessary to protect to legitimate interests of Suffolk Speech. Id. The court must evaluate a few things when determining whether this element is satisfied or not. Important factors to determine if the restriction is greater than necessary includes the size of the company, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. The Murders In The Rue Morgue By Aydelotte Detective stories that have been published over the years all contain dramatic elements that the reader has come to expect. These conventions that Aydelotte discussed in The Dectective Story as a Historical Source are especially ever present in Edgar Allen Poe s The Murders in the Rue Morgue and they shed light on the concerns of the people of the time. Primarily, readers read detective stories because they expect a dramatic event to happen whether that be criminal activity or more prominently, a murder. The audience of The Murders in the Rue Morgue didn t have extremely eventful lives; it wasn t every day that a horrid murder would take place in the real streets of Paris. They desperately craved excitement for their boring days and for that, they turned to books: detective stories in particular. The horror of the actual act offered a form of excitement and entertainment to the reader. The story allowed them to escape from their already routine life. Other than that, the society in detective stories like The Murders in the Rue Morgue was outwardly perfect in which the characters have very simple problems (Aydelotte, pg. 4). Everything in the society went right, up until the point of the murder. The fact that a seemingly ideal world was interrupted by such a gruesome event, offered the reader a reality check and made them aware of their anxiety of the evil that exists in the world. This is such a normalized function of everyday life, that it has resulted in us losing sight of our own moral convictions. Not every act of this expected obedience is conscious. We have fell into the habit of obeying first and asking questions later. Even worse than that, we have developed a more destructive habit of not questioning authority at all. Another concept of how children are taught authority is proposed by Professor Marta Laupa. Her research of the development mental psychology has lead her to believe that childrens ideas and understanding of obedience do not come from reward and punishment, but from early understanding of social organization and status (Laupa 333). Social status and the concept of reward and punishment all greatly influence our first understandings of what it means and why we obey authority. Both of these influences affect our ability to recognizing authority as an abusive power as children and continues into later adulthood. When taught not to question authority and to see others as superior to you because of age or position, this instills in our minds that authority figures commit no wrongful acts. Our minds are programmed not to question authority as children, and when taught to see others as superior in power to you because of age and position, we no longer think to question our own moral convictions, but insteads trust the moral judgements of our superior figures. This results in authority more often than not taking advantage of their power and asking their followers to participate in acts that go against their own moral beliefs. Samuel Clarke s argument for the existence of God states that There has existed from eternity some one unchangeable and independent being (37). The argument follows a logical flow and can be better understood when the structure is laid out and the argument reconstructed. Clarke begins his argument with a use of disjunctive syllogism, a form of valid logical reasoning that proposes two outcomes, denies one, and thus proves the other to be true. He states that since the series of dependent beings couldn t be caused by any external or internal source, that it would have to be cause absolutely by nothing . He then states that this is a contradiction to be done in time; and because duration in this case makes no difference. He also states that it is a contradiction to suppose it done from eternity. Since the universe has parts that come into existence at one occasion and not another, it must have a cause. There could supposedly be an infinite regress of causes if there was evidence for such, but lacking such evidence, God must exist as the cause. Clarke does not specifically identify God at any point in his argument. The horror comes from forcing the reader to witness awful and unexplainable things happen to the characters in the story, especially without the ability to prevent the misfortunes from happening. It becomes terror because Lovecraft places the entire story in our reality rather then a fictional setting. Becuase of this, we are forced to relate the story s events to our physical world. • 25. Software Design Of A Computer Based System A key requirement of the software design of a computer based system is to transform basic requirements into an architecture that describes the software s top level structure and identifies its components. Accomplishment of this requirement is through architectural design, providing a blueprint for developing the framework of the software (Mattsson, Lundell, Lings, Fitzgerald, 2009). The establishment of the framework involves examining the software requirements document and designing a model for providing necessary implementation details. The details specify components of the system along with all inputs, outputs, functions, and the interactions between the components. This paper includes a description of the architectural design of a computer based system that has transform characteristics, and includes a data flow diagram with process narrative, and evaluation of the architectural design. Further, an assessment of the structuring requirements associated with software architecture is included. Architectural Design Structure An architectural design performs key functions, and is of crucial importance in software engineering during the phase of software development where the essential requirements of reliability, cost, and performance are determined. Architectural design provides the definition of the abstraction level at which the software design specifies both the functional and performance behaviors of the system, and the guidelines for enhancing the system by ... It may include values and beliefs that influence our decisions on what is real and what is not. It is how we know the things we know. It is our own awareness of ourselves as observers and knowers and may relate to how we think and act in certain situations. It is also how we process what is real and how we present our knowings to others. In a paradigm no right or wrong answers are presented but instead fundamental assumptions are used. 2.What is the dominant paradigm guiding practice and research in special education? Gender And Misrepresentation In Sports And Media Gender representation and in particular misrepresentation is a key issue within sport and media today as female coverage of sport is overlooked in all forms of mainstream media. This issue is what we, as a group of 3, had to tackle and present to our academic peers in a student led seminar session. The issue derives from the main theme of sport and media and their relationship but could also be said to have direct links to other themes such as sport and (in) equality. Gender representation comes under both media and equality in terms of broader topics because it is the concern of the media to help broadcast more female sport and raise awareness of the inequality which exists to the wide audience it has to target, this doesn t happen enough currently. Research by Cooky et al. (2013) suggests that female sports coverage on ESPN sport takes up around 3% of coverage time which is a shocking disparity compared to men s coverage on the same channel. It also found that 0 news stories on WNBA were published out of season across multiple news channels while the NBA had 72 stories. Studying this topic is particularly important to understand historically and culturally why this problem exists as well as to look at the negative ideologies which exist within sports media around the subject of gender representation. • 34. Voltaire Rationalism Voltaire was a rebellious and radical thinker, whose sharp wit and pointed satire drew the ire of critics who say he disrespected the orthodoxy of church and state, and won the respect of a growing rationalist movement that had emerged out of the public sphere in Europe between the 17th and 18th centuries. Although Voltaire is known today for being a philosophical powerhouse, whose writing is the stuff of legend, for most of his life he only wrote plays, poems, and novels. It wasn t until he was almost forty in 1733 that he published his first major philosophical work, Letters Concerning the English Nation. This was a series of letters that describe the customs, cultures and great men of England, and even though his praise for England, a country where all the arts are honored and rewarded, and where one could think free and nobly without being held back by any servile fear, may be overblown, they are important nonetheless, because it highlights the virtues that an Enlightened society should strive for. (114) In many ways these were not so much love letters to England, as much as they were a call for the rest of Europe to progress in the rationalist movement that England had set the tone for. Voltaire had suffered many setbacks in life before his trip to England in spring of 1726 that had shaped his mindset, and made him skeptical to authority. Marilyn Frye s discussion on the role of women in society in the text The Politics of Reality focuses on her definition of oppression , its criteria and how it applies to feminist theory. Frye immediately opens her discussion with this statement; it is a fundamental claim of feminism that women are oppressed , (1983, p:1). It is important to note that she has used the word claim as it implies that the oppression of women is still a matter of debate. As a disclaimer, she makes it clear that the purpose of this text is not to prove that women are in fact oppressed, but to gain clarity on the meaning of the term ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Firstly, Frye discusses the etymology of the word oppression stating that it has its elements from the word press , 1983, p: 2. She then gives imagery in order to demonstrate that the word is very restrictive in nature as if something were; caught between or among forces and barriers which are so related to each other that jointly they restrain, restrict or prevent the thing s motion or mobility , (Frye, 1983, p:2). Frye makes the point that he first criterion in defining oppression is that the oppressed is restricted or limited in some manner, giving the sense that they have been moulded, immobilised or reduced. She exemplifies this notion with the following comparison using her theory of the double bind theory. According to Frye, in the United States, young women, are locked in a bind where if they exhibit that they are heterosexually active, then she is explicitly regarded as loose, unprincipled or a whore , 1983, p:2. The woman may then feel that she must hide her behaviour from her parents who are likely to look down on her for her promiscuity. She will also face criticism by her peers as being an easy lay and put down in comparison to her friends who practise more restraint, (Frye, 1983, p:3). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
