The Role Of Serfs In Medieval Times
The medieval time period survived on a system that provided order and good military, this system
was called Feudalism. Serfs had a major role in the medieval time period, they were the ones,
along with the freemen, who did the hard work in the manor, not only for themselves to survive on,
but for the whole manor, the lord, and the king. Feudalismwas a type of government, it was created
not for fairness, but for organization. Without serfs, the feudal system would deteriorate, therefore,
there needed to be a specific role for labor, or no drudgery would ever be done. Feudalism brought
many things to everyone in this time period, some people got more freedom than others, some
worked harder than others, everyone had a role, they may be treated differently for the role, but
they all matter.
Serfs played a major role in a medieval manor. Serfs did most of the work in this time period. In the
beginning of the 1100 s, serfs were used for farming and they were able to farm more land,
because there was an increase in improved farming tools (Cels 8). 90% of the population of serfs,
participated in farming, the other 10% would produce goods or perform other types of labor (Hunt
18). If you were a serf, you had many requirements and expectations. Serfs had to work ... Show

The feudal system would simply not survive off of the work from the freemen, there needed to
be serfs, people to be bound to the land, to work for simple pay, to provide for the manor. The
feudal government, was a way of life, it kept order to a medieval manor, but it also had an
absence of fairness. Serfs were the lowest class in the feudal system, they were bound to the land,
and couldn t do anything about it. The Middle Ages, was a time of order, people in classes, from
king, to serfs, who were bound to the land, where they were then forced to work, providing for the

Myocardial Tuberculosis Research Paper
Tuberculosis(TB) is a highly contagious disease that primarily affects the lungs, although it can
also be found in other body parts. The disorder is caused by a bacteria called myocardial
tuberculosis, and is mostly spread through the air when an infected person coughs. Many years
ago, tuberculosis accounted for nearly 30% of deaths in the US. In the 1940 s and 50 s, however,
its fatality rate dropped significantly due to antibiotics and vaccinations. Since the outbreak of AIDS
, tuberculosishas increasingly been an issue again since people with the disease cannot fight off TB
(Bontrager Lampignano 2005, Basic TB Facts 2012).
Although highly contagious through air, TB cannot be contracted from shaking hands or sharing a
drink. The most common symptoms include severe coughing, coughing up blood, fatigue, loss of
appetite, weight loss, chills, night sweats, and fever. When a person has tuberculosis but has no
symptoms and cannot spread it, they have latent TB. People who have latent TB can have it for
years without knowing because it is not noticeable until it reaches TB disease and becomes active.
Usually latent TB turns to TB disease when the immune system becomes weak and cannot fight it
off, and then turns contagious (Basic TB Facts 2012). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Mental Disorders In Charlotte Perkins Gilman s The Yellow...
Throughout time there a has been a trend where women are seen as the lesser gender. Their
thoughts and opinions are not taken into consideration even when discussing themselves. In the
19th century women s mental health was a joke. Most times they were just said to have hysteria (a
mental disorder which had a plethora of symptoms ranging from fatigue to depression) and were
prescribed to simply rest. A mental disorder is a clinically significant behavioral or psychological
syndrome and should not be taken lightly, but in that time there were many misconceptions.

the public to what is happening to women. For this reason the narrator remains nameless because

Abstract
This research will examine the impact of data visualization as a megatrend on the delivery of
healthcare. Information technology will have a profound impact on the healthcare industry in the
digital age. Data visualization tools and methodology represent a reimagined way for individuals
who receive healthcare to connect with data that will substantially change the way they will
understand their health, maintain wellness, and receive healthcare services. Data visualization tools
will also impact how patient information is shared, diagnoses rendered and treatments designed

According to Steurbaut, et al. (2013) query limiting is a technique used by developers to filter
searches within a database by establishing program parameters for searches that are designed to
optimize returned results. One way a search within a database may establish parameters is by
limiting the sources from which information is drawn during queries (Steurbaut, et al., 2013).
Query results will then be optimized because the information is drawn from the most relevant
sources. The COSARA imposes such limits on query results. The information to produce the
image of infection is drawn from the Microbiology from the laboratory, DICOM images from the
hospitals PACS server, Clinical data from the CIS, and Meta data provided at time of antibiotic
prescription (Steurbaut, et al., 2013).
Data visualization empowering Prevention and control: COSARA example A great benefit of data
visualization technology like COSARA within the healthcare industry is that the computer
generated image empowers physicians to see how an infection might be affecting the patient.
Physicians can determine the contagion level and establish controls (Steurbaut, et al., 2013). It is
not only information about the patient that the infectious image delivers, but how the disease may
be spreading, the speed of the spread, and any concentrated areas of infection within the body. This
kind of knowledge greatly informs the approach within ICU to treatment, depth and breadth of
knowledge about

Sexism In Today s Society
Everyday all over the world even in the land of the free there is at least a couple hundred of
woman and men who get added into the list of sexism victims. I am pretty sure every person on
this plant has been added into that list. I think everyone should be aware of this and should prevent
this act from damaging another human being. Thanks to movements such as Feminism which is
the belief of social, political, and economic equality of the sexes. Because of feminism you girls
and boys are understanding and fixing genderroles. I believe because of this discriminationit can
cause someone to feel bad about doing or feeling something that makes them happy or making
them feel unaccepted. In today s society there are plenty of acts of sexismtowards women still
going on, and nobody really does anything to stop this from happening. An example of one of the
many acts of sexism towards women today is Institutional sexism. It has been said that Women

two contrary or opposing beliefs are held by a person at the same time and then the Party can tell
the population which version to believe. A unique and confusing concept, right? Well to explain

Globalization Of The University Of Windsor Globalization
Globalization is the interaction of companies, people, and governments internationally to change
and adapt perspective, ideas and resources. As I take the time to observe my surrounding, I realize
that globalization has been happening in our everyday life without knowing. Without globalization
countries would be limited the resources they have, would decrease security between countries and
a negative impact for the countries economy. Ways that globalization has impacted my everyday
life in a positive impact would be the things I accomplish, the people I confront and the things I
observe.
I have encountered many things in my daily life that showed me globalization is a part of each

Each phone was made in a different country showing the internally interaction that took place.
Without globalization we would have been limited and would not be able to do or learn all the

Causes And Effects Of Air Pollution In China
Introduction It is very obvious to notice the impact of climate change in my hometown, China. I
was born in Shanghai in 1998, when I was a child, it was not a fresh news when people saw the
blue skies. But now, it is. Currently, almost every adult around me is talking about air pollution
issue. Filtering face masks and air purifiers which can be placed in homes are two popular goods.
Although everyone understands that this issue is very serious, it seems that no one can explain it
clearly in details. Since the influence of climate change in China is a fairly wide range of topic, I
choose to mainly discuss air pollutionas a result of it closely relating to the quality of people s daily
life which people have to breathe every minute. At the beginning of twenty first century, the carbon
dioxideemission in China continue boosting to higher points, and also currently, China is suffering
from one of the worst air pollution in the world. The serious air pollution brings direct and indirect
danger threatening the population health. Scholars from different perspectives, such as economic,
healthy and ecological all strongly recommend that China need to reduce air pollution. Both a few
policies from both federal government and municipal government were implemented, but sadly, the
predicational outcome may not as satisfying as them should be.

dramatically economic growth which is driven by

Figurative Language In Sailing The Byzantium
Literature is always personal, always one man s vision of the world, one man s experience (W.B.
Yeats n.d.). Such perspicacity is evident in the works of William Butler Yeats, whose poetry reflects
his fascination with mysticism and the days of yore. The poem Sailing the Byzantium illustrates
how William Butler Yeatsuse of artistic diction and symbolism reveals the parallels between ancient
civilization and the cycle of life and communicates the dual themes of obsolescence and perpetuity.
Yeats elegy, details a metaphoric spiritual journey of renewal to the holy city seeking intellectual
refuge within an artifice of eternity (Yeats, Lines 16,24). His use of figurative language elicits both
the somber and nostalgic tones evident throughout the poem.... Show more content on

At the beginning of the second stanza, Yeats use of the metonymic phrase: Aged man...A tattered
coat upon a stick poignantly conveys the not only narrator s image of his own aging mortal form
but the insignificance of his existence among his youthful countrymen (Lines 9,10). Most notably,
the use of dramatic metaphors in Line 11 and 12, Soul clap its hands and sing...but studying
Monuments of its own magnificence , personifies the soul as a song. In addition, it articulates the
idea that one s soul achieves perpetuity, not through sensual song, but through the erudition of
ancient civilization (Yeats, Lines 7, 11,14). Yeats use of apostrophe and simile in Lines 17 22: O
sages ...As in gold mosaic ...Come from the holy fire, perne in gyre...Consume my heart away; sick
with desire And fastened to a dying animal , illuminates the narrator s yearning to relinquish earthly
chains. Furthermore, his use of assonance in Line 19, by which he accentuates the long i sound of

Rhetorical Analysis Of Food Inc
Have you ever been in a rush, low on cash, and looking for something to eat so you didn t really
have a choice but to grab a burger with fries at your local fast food place? Have you ever paused or
stopped to think about where the burger really came from, or the process that went in to be made?
The FoodInc documentary investigates and exposes the American industrial production of meat,
grains, and vegetables. Robert Kenner the producer of the film makes allegations in this film and
he explores how food industries are deliberately hiding how and where it is our food is coming
from. He emphasizes that we should find out where our food comes from and why is it that the
food industrydoes not want us to know. Food Inc. does not only uses compelling images, such as
hundreds of baby chickens being raised in spaces where they do not see an inch of sunlight, it also
includes the speeches and stories of farmers, families, government officials, and victims of the food
industry. The four current problems facing today s food industry are the reformed usage of the false
advertisement within the labeling of products , mistreatment of farmed animals, and the harmful
chemical in our meats. The documentary Food Inc uses very persuasive tactics that demonstrates
strong elements of pathos, ethos, and logos make an effective appeal, while uncovering the dark
side of the food industry.

Rhetorical Analysis Of Neville Longbottom
Courage is the most important of all the virtues because without courage, you can t practice any
other virtue consistently. This quote by Maya Angelou exemplifies a value that Neville
Longbottom eventually comes to terms with. In the movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
Part 2, Neville Longbottom gives out a speech that captivates everybody s attention. Neville is a
friend to Harry, Hermione, and Ron, who all belong to the Gryffindor house, which symbolizes
the bravery in Hogwarts. Throughout the series, Neville had always been a very shy and timid
character, but as the end of the last movie approached, he started becoming more and more like a
Gryffindor should be. This speech was given right after Harry Potterwas killed by Voldemort,...

This is mostly displayed when Neville exclaims, They didn t die in vain. [he turns to Voldemort]
But you will! Because you re wrong! Harry s heart did beat for us. For all of us! By raising his
voice, Neville is able to convey an angry and exasperated tone which makes the audience see the
emotion that the speaker is trying to portray. The screaming shows how he is challenging
Voldemort and demonstrating his bravery and credibility towards the concerned audience. This
tone is an effective rhetorical strategy since it basically shows the speaker s emotions and his
ability to pass on these emotions towards the audience. By doing so, Neville is able to successfully
motivate the audience and make sure that they all are involved in killing Lord Voldemort.
Furthermore, Neville also uses an authoritative tone, showing that he is not afraid of Voldemort,
and ultimately proving that his life is not worthy in comparison of any of the lives that he has
taken from Neville s group of friends. This specific tone is appropriate for the occasion because
it was right after Harry s death, which made all of the audience vulnerable, and making Voldemort
feel like he had essentially won the war he had been fighting. By having an authoritative and
challenging tone, it made Voldemort see that this war was not over yet and that he was not done
fighting since he would have to pay for all the harm he

This lighting effect created a quick and effective set change that immediately set the mood. Overall,
the lighting was done in an amazing way that looked professional, and helped with setting the

their part. A few great costumes were Joseph s coat, and the brothers costumes. Joseph s coat was
very effective, the vibrant colours allowed the coat to stand out, but the most impressive part was
when they incorporated the coat into the dance. There was a part in the dance where the brothers
gathered around Joseph, and they each grabbed a part of the coat to create a circle of his coat to

mystical way. Joseph s brothers had costumes that looked very realistic, and belonging in the time

Food Assistance Programs For Food Aid Programs
As expressed by Wellman et al. (2002), older adults will double to some 70 million in 2030,
reflecting an increase from 12.4% today to 20% of the US population in 2030. As a result of this
data an increase in societal level food interventions are important to implement to meet the
nutritional needs of the elderly. Foodassistance programs can be a solution to address this
problem. The importance of elders of having the appropriate foods for health and the struggles
they have in acquiring these foods suggests that elderly food assistance programs might develop
better ways of helping them obtained such foods (Wolfe et al., 2003). Food assistance program
that exist currently is the Food Stamp Program. This program provides benefits that can be used to
purchase specific foods. The eligibility for benefits is determined on the basis of household
income and assets. All age groups can receive benefits, but special rules for households with elderly
members have been established (Guthrie Lin, 2002).

The Causes Of Student Stress In Education
It is often said that college students of the current generation exhibit some of the highest recorded
stress levels. There are many theories as to why these stress levels continue to rise. Perhaps the
main reason behind this rising stress is the fact that society is choosing to acknowledge its
existence, thus making the terminology more commonly known and revealing its detrimental
effects the to the public. The purpose of this paper is to analyze what has changed over the years in
regards to education, what seem to be common stressors among students, how these students
learning mechanisms are affected, and how America can work to prevent academic stress.
An important topic to investigate in regards to stress levels includes that of differences between
generations. More specifically, it is important to analyze what has changed over the years; in doing
so, new findings as to why student stress levels are rising may be discovered. One example of a
change is simply the number of students choosing to enroll in college. Almost every year, college
admissions are increasing, mainly because it is becoming universally accepted to go to college and
attain a degree. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, Enrollment in degree
granting institutions increased by 11 percent from 1991 to 2001 and another 32 percent from 2001
to 2011 (Novotney, 2014). With more students enrolling in college, there will consequentially be

Symbolism in A Good Man is Hard to Find Essay
The short story A Good Man is Hard to Find, by Flannery O Connor, is bombarded with
symbolism. In short stories symbolism is the literary element that helps the reader depict the
picture and actions in their own minds. Whether it be from characters names or the designs on the
characters shirts, every detail in this story has a purpose. Flannery O Connor was known for her
strong religious background, Catholicism, and used her faith as the underlying message in her
works. In the story, A Good Man is Hard to Find, there are a couple of things that can be traced
directly to Christianity. The little boy, John Wesley, symbolizes the religious denomination of
Methodism. John Wesley, along with his brother Charles Wesley, founded the

For example, the first time death is symbolized in this story is when the family passes a
graveyard. They passed a large cotton field with five or six graves fenced in the middle of it,
like a small island. Look at the graveyard! the grandmother said, pointing it out. That was the old
FAMILY burying grounds. (99). O Connor purposely mentions the specific number of graves,
one grave for each person in the car. She also mentions that it was a family burying ground. This
symbolism foreshadows that the family will soon face death. When the family is driving
through the town, the grandmother remembers the old plantation is called Toombsboro . This
plantation s name is brought up to remind the reader of death. Toombsboro sounds like the tomb,
symbolizing the family will soon face their tombs. Another description that is given to
symbolize the deaths is that of the Misfits car. It was a big black battered hearse like automobile
(103). A hearse is a vehicle designed to carry coffins for funerals. This description also
foreshadows the death of the family before the Misfit arrives. Lastly, the woods, tall and dark
and deep (105) represent the family s death. The woods symbolize the unknown and fear we have
for death, which is considered dark and deep. The Grandmother stood in front of the woods
reminding us that death is always near and behind us. Just like the woods, death can be a scary thing

Andy Warhola
Andrew Warhola, or Andy Warhol as he later became known, was born on August 6, 1928 in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 1936, at the age of 8, he contracted an A beta haemolytic streptococcal
infection, and subsequently developed the neurological disorder Sydenham s chorea, which is also
known as St. Vitus Dance. This neurological disorder, which is characterized by involuntary and
uncoordinated movements of the face, hands and feet, caused him to be bedridden. It was during
this time that young Andy Warholwas taught to draw by his mother, who possessed an impressive
artistic ability. He also sought solace from his disorder in comic books and fashion magazines,
which would provide an inspiration for his later artwork, such as the Twenty Five... Show more

Following market research that was conducted in 2005, analysts discovered that there was no
consumer trend in purchases. After deeper research, using the growing field of neuromarketing,
they discovered that this lack of trend was caused by the uniformity in label design across all
flavors offered by the company, as the consumers were not able to differentiate between the thirty
two flavors offered. The absence of a trend made it increasingly difficult for the company to decide
what the most popular flavor. Is it tomato soup, the classic chicken noodle, or perhaps cream of
mushroom? Analysts were still not able to detect a trend in purchases, and because of this, the
Campbell Soup Company made the decision to redesign the cans. This redesign, which was
released in 2010, included switching the iconic red top to the bottom of the can, removing the
spoon from the soup, adding steam, and overall modernizing the can s label design. In 2012, in
honor of the fiftieth anniversary of Andy Warhol s Campbell s Soup Cans, the Campbell Soup
Company released limited edition tomato soup cans, in a series of five, that featured the original
label and bright colors that were characteristic of Warhol s personal, pop art style. This limited
edition product, sold at seventy five cents a can, illustrates the iconography of the Campbell s can,
as the company acknowledges the significance of Warhol s artwork and the impact his style made

Tap Film Analysis

Assignment #4 Topic 1
By 1984 Rock and Roll music was going through a changing phase. From break ups, tragic deaths
due to drugs and dangerous lifestyles, unnecessarily long and obnoxious solo performances, and
overly loud and unnecessary amps that almost sounded like they were going all the way to 11
instead of 10. It seemed that Rock and Roll was dying out or becoming oversaturated as a musical
genre. It is in this environment that the movie This is Spinal Tap bases itself in.
This is Spinal Tap is a 1984 mock documentary or mockumentary about a fictitious band named
Spinal Tap. The movie is told from the interviewing perspective of director Rob Reineras he
interviews and follows the British band for their United States concert tour for their new album,
Smell My Glove . Throughout the film and tour, almost everything seems to be going wrong for the
band. From drops in concert attendance, issues releasing their album cover due to controversial
imagery, sudden changes in management, and the general childish behaviour of the band holding
them back.
The film pokes fun at the many real life rock stars and bands that existed at the time; including
Yes, Early Genesis, Ritchie Blackmore, The Beatles, Dee Snider, Led Zeppelin etc., and how the
media and society viewed them during this era. It shows how society viewed Rock Stars as larger
than life idols, often overlooking their obvious flaws until it catches up to them; and contrasts it

AB1
October 3, 2017 Abstract
The techniques used in this lab are quantitative transfer and vacuum filtration with the reaction of
8.001 grams of copper (II) sulfate, CuSO4, and 2.0153 grams of iron powder, Fe. The goal of this
experiment was to determine the product of copper (II) sulfate with iron. The reaction occurred and
2.4469 grams of solid copper, Cu, precipitated; therefore, showing that the limiting reagent was
iron. The iron oxidation state was iron (II) because iron (II) sulfate was formed during the reaction.
The percent yield of the reaction was 106.7%.

The solid was washed over vacuum filtration with a 15.0mL DI water rinse. Then the solid was
washed again by four 15.0mL rinses of acetone. The copper was dried over the vacuum filtration
for exactly 10 minutes, so there was no excess water and the copper did not oxidize. Then the
mass of the crucible was taken again with the product included using the same analytic balance as
before, which came out to be 32.9490 grams. The amount of solid copper collected was 2.4469
grams, calculated by subtracting the initial weight of the crucible from the final weight.
Results
The empty sintered glass crucible had a mass of 30.5021 grams (table 1). Then the reaction
occurred and the copper precipitate was collected the crucible plus product had a mass of
32.9490 grams. Therefore, the mass of the precipitated copper was 2.4469 grams. The moles of
CuSO4 and Fe used and the moles of Cu precipitated are shown in Table 2.

Adult literacy lies at the heart of many social crises in the United States, including crime,
unemployment, and poverty. According to the Pro Literacy Organization, it has been estimated
that as many as fourteen percent of US adults over the age of sixteen read at or below a fifth grade
level. Among those segments of the US population with lower literacyrates, almost half live in
poverty. Over ninety million American adults, are illiterate, which means they do not possess the
skills required to function in today s modern society. Facts such as this regarding literacy illustrate
a portrait of the social conditions that exist in America, the country generally portrayed as the most
advanced in the world. Out of 191 million adults in the US, as many as 44 million cannot read a
newspaper or fill out a job application; another 50 million are unable to read or comprehend above
the eighth grade level. According to education experts it requires ninth grade competence to
understand the instructions for an antidote on a bottle of corrosive kitchen lye, tenth grade
competence to understand the instructions on a federal income tax return, and twelfth grade
competence to read a life insurance form. Unfortunately, more than three fifths of the population is
unable to read with the competence of a fifth grader. Steps to resolve this problem must be taken
immediately. Educational improvements need to be made at the most basic level, in the country s
elementary schools. It has been

The Spanish-American War
The Spanish American War was truly a defining moment in U.S. History. After the U.S. defeated
the Spanish, it gained control over Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines. Also by defeating
them, they proved to the rest of the world that they were a nation who could hold their own. It
had finally seemed that the U.S was a dominant world power. The U.S. soon began using the
gained land from the war to spread its territory. The spread of democracy was the true goal of the
U.S. and they had finally found a starting place with these new lands. Of course, like all world

before the U.S. freed the Filipinos from Spanish rule, they had promised them freedom.

not considered work; however, it is a part of their daily activities, and withholding items causes
friction on the court, which does not allow for everyone to participate. While chaos / a fight
arose, other prisoners, the guards, and the Colonel observed, until the Colonel finally gave the
order to put a stop to it. Although bean bags were shot rather than live ammunition, apparently
the Colonel had given orders to aim at the head periodically (calling it an accident), especially
when prisoners (or animals, as the Colonel called them often) were killed. This type of leadership
is in line with Machiavelli s, pg. 4, assumed view of human nature in the prison, that human beings
are essentially evil... as the prisoners/animals were evil. Also, I compared this accidental killing of
prisoners in The Castle like the beginning of Sun Tzu. Sun Tzu killed the King s two favorite
concubines because they failed to follow orders. Just like the Colonel gave orders a second time
before commanding the marksman to shoot, Sun Tzu gave the orders a second time before he
killed the concubines. When the orders have been made clear, and are not carried out in

arrived as a result of the social, political, and economic turbulence brought by the industrialization
that occurred during the Gilded Age. The imperative topics addressed during the transformation
were the relenting labor question, political corruption, and gender roles within American society.

Literary Analysis Of John O Connor sFirst Confession
Will there ever be an object or idea that can reverse a mistake ? As humans have evolved, there
have been different notions created on the consequences of doing certain activities or actions.
While the preceding is important to take into mind, does it always have to be so serious? Any
individual who grows up does either childish actions or just simple mistakes. O Connor shows how
the formality of this can be taken to an extreme point with the story of Jackie. In First Confessionhe
creates a humorous tone with the utilization of figurative language and characterization. To begin
with, First Confession holds a strong message, but it holds it with a touch of humor. With this story
being told from a reflective point of view, it really shows the comical sides of the story. Most of
us have those stories that as we reflect on them now, can be very funny; the same was for Jackie.
Jackie wrote about his first confession, which was probably from a few years back and now he
highlights the funny parts of them. For example, the rivalry between Nora, his sister, and him. A
rivalry which then seemed very serious for Jackie, was not that serious in reality. As well, his
grandmother s arrival was so bad for him then that he even plotted her murder. The humorous side
of this story is reflected mainly in his conversation with the priest. The priest tells him, Between
ourselves, there s a lot of people I d like to do the same to, but I d never have the nerve. By

In discussions of hometown politics, the most controversial issue has been the intentions of
both the Republican and Democratic parties. On one hand the Democrats support the social and

Cause Of Judgement
People of the 21st century have portrayed their high level of intellectualism by making tremendous
achievements in the fields of technology and medicine, but at the same time they have showcased
their foolishness by forming opinions of other individuals. Their ability to view other people from a
moral perspective leads them to form judgements of other people. Matter of fact, judging has turned
into a habit for all of humanity and has hurt people mentally and physically. Without thinking of the
harmful effects judging can have on individuals, people form their opinions based on individuals
clothes, qualities, and even facial feature. Primarily, the phony ethics and assumptions lead people
to judge. In particular, one s bad upbringing, the insecurity and jealousy of human nature, and the
blind acceptance of information are the three main causes for passing judgement.
First, failing to preach the idea of individuality to younger generations leaves a negative impact on
their upbringing, thus leading them to judge individuals ignorantly. Teachings passed down to
children who support the ideas of arrogance and selfishness prevent them from understanding the
uniqueness of other independent minded individuals, resulting in the children judging other people.
One s selfishness and pride prevents that person from learning about the real challenges of life.
Blinded by the wicked feelings, that person will judge other people s gifts, talents, and traits. In

Clearly, this poster supports the war efforts by encouraging the people of Canada to refrain from
talking about war, as spies that are associated with enemy countries could listen to their
conversations relating to war, and the spies could implement this information into their own war

unwanted knowledge to the enemy countries. The historical knowledge that the viewer must need

Euthanasia Often Surfaces In Mainstream News As Being A
Euthanasia often surfaces in mainstream news as being a highly controversial issue, with strong
arguments for both positions. To be clear, euthanasia can be defined as the following,
Intentionally taking the life of a presumably hopeless person (Gay Williams, 781). There are also
several other distinctions that classify euthanasia as either active or passive, based on the level of
action involved, or as voluntary, involuntary, or non voluntary, based on the level of consent
(Dittmer). However, in this paper, when I use the term euthanasia, I am speaking of euthanasia in
any of its forms. Thus, I will argue that all forms of euthanasia are morally impermissible. Lastly, I
will assess an objection to my argument, but in the end show that... Show more content on

The second premise is true, because given the definition of euthanasia, no one is being saved by
the act, but only the opposite, someone is being killed. For an action to be considered euthanasia,
three conditions must be met: there must be the taking of a life, the person whose life is taken
must be suffering from a disease with a terminal prognosis, and the action must be intentional
(Gay Williams, 781). Accordingly, it is evident that there is no aspect of self defense in this case,
and no one s life is being saved in the process of euthanasia. Therefore, it is true that euthanasia is
an action that involves the taking of someone s life, without the saving of another s life.
Therefore, given the preceding reasons for the truth of the premises, and the valid argument form,
modus ponens, the argument against euthanasia is sound. In defense of the premises, I utilized
the moral theory of natural law. For this theory, an action is judged to be moral or immoral based
on it being in accord with the natural law or not. This natural law is built into our very nature as
human beings, so an action is moral if it is consistent with our nature. I used this moral theory to
show that the desire to survive is a part of our natural law, and thus euthanasia is against our natural
law as human beings.
One might object to my argument by way of utilitarian reasoning. In

Who Is Lily s Objectification In The House Of Mirth
Despite their untruthfulness, they still make a large impact on the lives of the aristocracy.
People treat them like truth, which causes them to almost become a truth themselves. The myths
of the aristocracy make a large impact on the lives they define, usually in a negative way. They
make their victims feel confined to these myths even if they are positive. They create an
environment where everyone treats these people like the myths, which they inhabit. The myth
becomes more human than the actual person. The myths arise from one small fact then
speculation and assumption come and transform the fib into reality. One of the most significant
myths in the novel is the idea that Lily is an object. It follows her where ever she goes in her

Wharton the myth of Lily being an object makes people treat her like a decoration or a prize to
be won instead of an actual human being, which causes Lily to have the skills of an object and the
soul of a being.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even before Lily walked amongst the living, the aristocracy treated women more like objects than
people. A women s value came from her beauty and how well she entertained the folk around her,
not personality traits. The more beautiful the woman, the more valuable she became, and worse she
was treated. Instead of being viewed as merely another beautiful painting in an exhibit, they became
the star attraction. Society put more pressure on them to act like decorative beings than other
women, and men treat them like prizes or trophies. These ideas of women traveled from one
generation to the next with parents teaching their children how women should act and how to
determine a woman s value. Then here comes Lily into this world. A natural beauty, she has to be
...always keeping herself fresh and exquisite and amusing (Wharton

Postnatal Depression Is A Clinical Depression That Lasts
Postnatal depression is a clinical depression that lasts for about a month (Sigelman Rider, 2015)
and symptoms of postnatal depression include parents being irritable, lethargic, tired, insensitive
and generally distant towards their children (Field, 2010; Liu et al., 2016; Ramchandani, Stein,
Evans, O Connor ALSPAC study team, 2005; Wachs, Black Engle, 2009). Prenatal depression can
also be a sign that the motherwill experience postnatal depression (Parsons, Young, Rochat,
Kringelbacht Stein, 2012).
Postnatal depression in both mothers and fathers have a significant impact on the development of
infants and their interactions with the parents, whether biological or adoptive. Postnatal depression

Malnutrition in infants do not allow the brain to develop accordingly and at a pace within the
normal ranger causing the child to be immature for his/her age and have problems behaving
accordingly. Another research study by Verbeek et al. (2012), however, contradicts this and has
found that postnatal or postpartum depression does not influence behaviour at all but that it only
affects children psychologically.
Maternal postnatal depression has a long term impact on children. The mothers behaviour and
mental state during a child s infant years is important to the child s development and behaviour as
they grow older (Ramchandani et al., 2005) and the likelihood of a child becoming depressed as
he/she grows up automatically increases, (Murray et al., 2011), if the child has a mother who
experienced depression in the postnatal period and it increases a child s risk of being diagnosed
with any other psychological disorder. This is according to a study conducted by Verkuijl at al.
(2014) in Soweto, South Africa which set out to determine the effects of maternal postnatal
depression in children 10 years of age.
Postnatal depression has no in between, so mothers are either overprotective and overcompensating
for the negative emotions they experience after giving birth or they are cold and distant toward
their infants.
Postnatal depression involves parents being less sensitive

Banning Alcohol From Mainstream Consumption
Let s travel back in time, for a second, to the 1840 s. Hundreds upon thousands of Americans
flocked to the western half of the country, fleeing their homes and risking their very lives for a
chance to strike it rich. Some were triumphant, others failed, and everyone learned a little
something along the way... Now, fast forward a few decades to the twentieth century. The United
States government just enacted an amendment into the Constitution, banning alcohol from
mainstream consumption. A collective of citizens grew irate and resisted, beginning a
movement that would effect the country for years to come. So what do the Gold Rush and
Prohibition have to do with the Internet? Well, they re essentially what the Internet has been like
for me. As both a creator and consumer, cyberspace has turned making and viewing art into both
a prospect and, in some instances, a protest. Five, even ten years ago, nobody could have
imagined the kind of force the digital age would usher. As information was exchanged, people
soon figured out that they had a virtual library at their fingertips. I don t even have to think
about leaving the house to find out which watercolor brand was the best money could buy a
quick Google search could yield plenty of answers to that question. (About 1,040,000 results, to
be exact!) I see myself a miner, and the Internet gives me the tools I need to create my works. It s
no coincidence creators have made it this way. I could conduct research for a concept

Summarise the Main Development of a Child from the Age...
WORKING THERAPEUTICALLY WITH CHILDREN Assignment 1 Summarise the main
development of a child from the age range 0 2 years, 3 5 years and 5 8 years. Most children will
go through the same stages of development although they will do so at varying rates depending
on numerous factors. When a baby is first born they will lie on their backs for the first 3 months.
He will be able to focus on objects close to the face and respond to voices or other sounds by crying
or gurgling. At around 6 weeks the baby will first start to smile and will enjoy routines such as
feeding or cuddling, particularly with the main carer. At the end of this stage the baby is able to
start lifting his head and will be able to kick his legs vigorously. By this... Show more content on

By 2 years old the child will have a developing vocabulary of around 50 words but will
understand many more. At this stage the child will become much more independent, feeding
and attempting to dress himself and his sense of identity increases. By the time a child reaches 3
years old gross motor skills will have improved dramatically, they will be able to run in all
directions, jump and walk on tiptoes. Fine motor skills will also have improved enabling the
child to master more complex skills such as using scissors and controlling a pencil or
paintbrush. Using stories, rhymes and songs at this stage will increase the childs language
skills, enabling him to speak in more complex sentences which in turn will allow him to express
his emotions with more clarity. However, social skills are still developing and tantrums can still
occur if the child does not get his own way with his friends. Between the ages of 4 and 5 physical
development is improving at a rapid speed. The child will have developed his gross and fine
motor skills resulting in improved balance, being able to skip and play simple ball games and
his drawings and paintings will be recognisable. The child will become much more aware and
interested in the world around him prompting endless questions and a desire to learn. He may be
able to recognise simple, common words and count repetitively. At this stage the child has become
able to control his emotions to a much better degree and can also recognise

Otherwise Commentary
Otherwise Commentary The poem Otherwise is short, simple and eloquent. The author, Cilla
McQueen, describes two lovers that are located on opposite sides of the world. McQueen uses the
title to emphasize the conflicts. The speaker s emotions are expressed through two main themes;
love and distance. Imagery and diction maximize the emotions associated with these themes.
Additionally, she uses many literary devices throughout the poem for effect. From the onset, the
title Otherwise is vital to the poem foreshadowing conflict, contrast and turmoil. The word sets the
scene for two different sides of love. In this case, love is not presented as joyful and precarious but
rather as agonizing and painful due to distance. It is the title... Show more content on

There is no iambic pentameter or rhyming pattern. This style gives a conversational, intimate
tone; as if the reader is eavesdropping in on the two lovers. Secondly, this informal tone is
contrasted by the formal and decisive shape of the poem. Furthermore, it is evident by the
physical appearance of the poem that that a conflict of the settings exists, I watch often not
traffic or television but hour by hour the huge tide . The speaker compares two different
lifestyles; one of the speaker situated on a coast; soothing, relaxing and simple. Meanwhile her
lover is located in a city; loud, tense and complex. The physical divide in the poem presents the
conflict in the settings inferring the conflict in the relationship. This conflict is reflected by the
change in tone from stanza 1 to stanza 2. The first stanza is full of facts as she sadly describes
her reality while the second stanza is full of emotions and hope expressing the metaphysical
situation the lovers would be in if united. If you were with me now underlines the ambiguity of
when now will come. As the author guides the reader through the relationship, she dreams of the
setting and activities giving hope that the lovers would do such things once together. An
interesting simile is used if and when the speaker s lover comes back to her favorite beach . This
symbolizes home, the nest; the beach represents for the speaker a place of nurturing, peace, safety
and joy. Enjambment is also

  • 2. The Role Of Serfs In Medieval Times The medieval time period survived on a system that provided order and good military, this system was called Feudalism. Serfs had a major role in the medieval time period, they were the ones, along with the freemen, who did the hard work in the manor, not only for themselves to survive on, but for the whole manor, the lord, and the king. Feudalismwas a type of government, it was created not for fairness, but for organization. Without serfs, the feudal system would deteriorate, therefore, there needed to be a specific role for labor, or no drudgery would ever be done. Feudalism brought many things to everyone in this time period, some people got more freedom than others, some worked harder than others, everyone had a role, they may be treated differently for the role, but they all matter. Serfs played a major role in a medieval manor. Serfs did most of the work in this time period. In the beginning of the 1100 s, serfs were used for farming and they were able to farm more land, because there was an increase in improved farming tools (Cels 8). 90% of the population of serfs, participated in farming, the other 10% would produce goods or perform other types of labor (Hunt 18). The disorder is caused by a bacteria called myocardial tuberculosis, and is mostly spread through the air when an infected person coughs. Many years ago, tuberculosis accounted for nearly 30% of deaths in the US. In the 1940 s and 50 s, however, its fatality rate dropped significantly due to antibiotics and vaccinations. Since the outbreak of AIDS , tuberculosishas increasingly been an issue again since people with the disease cannot fight off TB (Bontrager Lampignano 2005, Basic TB Facts 2012). Although highly contagious through air, TB cannot be contracted from shaking hands or sharing a drink. The most common symptoms include severe coughing, coughing up blood, fatigue, loss of appetite, weight loss, chills, night sweats, and fever. When a person has tuberculosis but has no symptoms and cannot spread it, they have latent TB. People who have latent TB can have it for years without knowing because it is not noticeable until it reaches TB disease and becomes active. (2013) query limiting is a technique used by developers to filter searches within a database by establishing program parameters for searches that are designed to optimize returned results. One way a search within a database may establish parameters is by limiting the sources from which information is drawn during queries (Steurbaut, et al., 2013). Query results will then be optimized because the information is drawn from the most relevant sources. The COSARA imposes such limits on query results. There are many theories as to why these stress levels continue to rise. • 23. Symbolism in A Good Man is Hard to Find Essay The short story A Good Man is Hard to Find, by Flannery O Connor, is bombarded with symbolism. In short stories symbolism is the literary element that helps the reader depict the picture and actions in their own minds. Whether it be from characters names or the designs on the characters shirts, every detail in this story has a purpose. Flannery O Connor was known for her strong religious background, Catholicism, and used her faith as the underlying message in her works. In the story, A Good Man is Hard to Find, there are a couple of things that can be traced directly to Christianity. The little boy, John Wesley, symbolizes the religious denomination of Methodism. For example, the first time death is symbolized in this story is when the family passes a graveyard. They passed a large cotton field with five or six graves fenced in the middle of it, like a small island. Look at the graveyard! the grandmother said, pointing it out. That was the old FAMILY burying grounds. (99). O Connor purposely mentions the specific number of graves, one grave for each person in the car. She also mentions that it was a family burying ground. This symbolism foreshadows that the family will soon face death. When the family is driving through the town, the grandmother remembers the old plantation is called Toombsboro . This plantation s name is brought up to remind the reader of death. Toombsboro sounds like the tomb, symbolizing the family will soon face their tombs. Another description that is given to symbolize the deaths is that of the Misfits car. It was a big black battered hearse like automobile (103). A hearse is a vehicle designed to carry coffins for funerals. This description also foreshadows the death of the family before the Misfit arrives. Lastly, the woods, tall and dark and deep (105) represent the family s death. The woods symbolize the unknown and fear we have for death, which is considered dark and deep. The Grandmother stood in front of the woods reminding us that death is always near and behind us. Just like the woods, death can be a scary thing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1936, at the age of 8, he contracted an A beta haemolytic streptococcal infection, and subsequently developed the neurological disorder Sydenham s chorea, which is also known as St. Vitus Dance. This neurological disorder, which is characterized by involuntary and uncoordinated movements of the face, hands and feet, caused him to be bedridden. After deeper research, using the growing field of neuromarketing, they discovered that this lack of trend was caused by the uniformity in label design across all flavors offered by the company, as the consumers were not able to differentiate between the thirty two flavors offered. The absence of a trend made it increasingly difficult for the company to decide what the most popular flavor. Is it tomato soup, the classic chicken noodle, or perhaps cream of mushroom? Analysts were still not able to detect a trend in purchases, and because of this, the Campbell Soup Company made the decision to redesign the cans. This redesign, which was released in 2010, included switching the iconic red top to the bottom of the can, removing the spoon from the soup, adding steam, and overall modernizing the can s label design. • 25. Tap Film Analysis Theo Popa HIST1042 June 22nd 2017 Assignment #4 Topic 1 By 1984 Rock and Roll music was going through a changing phase. From break ups, tragic deaths due to drugs and dangerous lifestyles, unnecessarily long and obnoxious solo performances, and overly loud and unnecessary amps that almost sounded like they were going all the way to 11 instead of 10. It seemed that Rock and Roll was dying out or becoming oversaturated as a musical genre. It is in this environment that the movie This is Spinal Tap bases itself in. This is Spinal Tap is a 1984 mock documentary or mockumentary about a fictitious band named Spinal Tap. The movie is told from the interviewing perspective of director Rob Reineras he interviews and follows the British band for their United States concert tour for their new album, Smell My Glove . Throughout the film and tour, almost everything seems to be going wrong for the band. From drops in concert attendance, issues releasing their album cover due to controversial imagery, sudden changes in management, and the general childish behaviour of the band holding them back. The film pokes fun at the many real life rock stars and bands that existed at the time; including Yes, Early Genesis, Ritchie Blackmore, The Beatles, Dee Snider, Led Zeppelin etc., and how the media and society viewed them during this era. It shows how society viewed Rock Stars as larger than life idols, often overlooking their obvious flaws until it catches up to them; and contrasts it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To be clear, euthanasia can be defined as the following, Intentionally taking the life of a presumably hopeless person (Gay Williams, 781). There are also several other distinctions that classify euthanasia as either active or passive, based on the level of action involved, or as voluntary, involuntary, or non voluntary, based on the level of consent (Dittmer). However, in this paper, when I use the term euthanasia, I am speaking of euthanasia in any of its forms. Thus, I will argue that all forms of euthanasia are morally impermissible. Lastly, I will assess an objection to my argument, but in the end show that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second premise is true, because given the definition of euthanasia, no one is being saved by the act, but only the opposite, someone is being killed. For an action to be considered euthanasia, three conditions must be met: there must be the taking of a life, the person whose life is taken must be suffering from a disease with a terminal prognosis, and the action must be intentional (Gay Williams, 781). Accordingly, it is evident that there is no aspect of self defense in this case, and no one s life is being saved in the process of euthanasia. Therefore, it is true that euthanasia is an action that involves the taking of someone s life, without the saving of another s life. Therefore, given the preceding reasons for the truth of the premises, and the valid argument form, modus ponens, the argument against euthanasia is sound. In defense of the premises, I utilized the moral theory of natural law. For this theory, an action is judged to be moral or immoral based on it being in accord with the natural law or not. This natural law is built into our very nature as human beings, so an action is moral if it is consistent with our nature. I used this moral theory to show that the desire to survive is a part of our natural law, and thus euthanasia is against our natural law as human beings. • 43. Banning Alcohol From Mainstream Consumption Let s travel back in time, for a second, to the 1840 s. Hundreds upon thousands of Americans flocked to the western half of the country, fleeing their homes and risking their very lives for a chance to strike it rich. Some were triumphant, others failed, and everyone learned a little something along the way... Now, fast forward a few decades to the twentieth century. The United States government just enacted an amendment into the Constitution, banning alcohol from mainstream consumption. A collective of citizens grew irate and resisted, beginning a movement that would effect the country for years to come. So what do the Gold Rush and Prohibition have to do with the Internet? Well, they re essentially what the Internet has been like for me. As both a creator and consumer, cyberspace has turned making and viewing art into both a prospect and, in some instances, a protest. Five, even ten years ago, nobody could have imagined the kind of force the digital age would usher. As information was exchanged, people soon figured out that they had a virtual library at their fingertips. I don t even have to think about leaving the house to find out which watercolor brand was the best money could buy a quick Google search could yield plenty of answers to that question. (About 1,040,000 results, to be exact!) I see myself a miner, and the Internet gives me the tools I need to create my works. It s no coincidence creators have made it this way. I could conduct research for a concept ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Imagery and diction maximize the emotions associated with these themes. Additionally, she uses many literary devices throughout the poem for effect. There is no iambic pentameter or rhyming pattern. This style gives a conversational, intimate tone; as if the reader is eavesdropping in on the two lovers. Secondly, this informal tone is contrasted by the formal and decisive shape of the poem. Furthermore, it is evident by the physical appearance of the poem that that a conflict of the settings exists, I watch often not traffic or television but hour by hour the huge tide . The speaker compares two different lifestyles; one of the speaker situated on a coast; soothing, relaxing and simple. Meanwhile her lover is located in a city; loud, tense and complex. The physical divide in the poem presents the conflict in the settings inferring the conflict in the relationship. This conflict is reflected by the change in tone from stanza 1 to stanza 2. The first stanza is full of facts as she sadly describes her reality while the second stanza is full of emotions and hope expressing the metaphysical situation the lovers would be in if united. If you were with me now underlines the ambiguity of when now will come. As the author guides the reader through the relationship, she dreams of the setting and activities giving hope that the lovers would do such things once together.
