Pros And Cons Of Filing A Whistleblower Suit
In my opinion, filing a whistleblower suit is definitely not for the faint of heart. There is definitely
anxiety and stress associated with uncovering and eventually reporting alleged fraud. In an effort to
prevent the whistleblower from revealing the lawsuit to anyone, whistleblower or qui tam cases are
generally filed under court seal. This means the relator cannot discuss the case with family, friends or
co workers until the government has completed their investigation and can oftentimes be difficult on
the person bringing the evidence to light, as this may bring about feelings of isolation. The
government uses the seal to their advantage in order to covertly investigate any and all allegations
surrounding the whistleblower s

Perspiration And Social Anxiety
Explore the Connection Between Social Anxiety and Excessive Perspiration Everyone has problems.
People say that no one is perfect, and I completely believe that to be an axiom of life. As for me, my
fair share of social anxiety and stress comes from a certain health disorder called hyperhidrosis, which
is simply an exaggerated amount of perspiration. For example, it may just be sweating in the palms,
underarms, soles, face or all of the above. Now, just to get an idea of how rare this condition is, it is
estimated that 3% of the United States population is affected to some extent. That amounts to almost
10 million people living and suffering from its wrath. Although I have not been officially diagnosed
with hyperhidrosis, my conviction is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s when a large group of people collaborates to achieve an intended goal, whether that is to inform,
teach, persuade, entertain, or in general, communicate ideas. It s also a complicated time for someone
with hyperhidrosis because the agony and uneasiness of being a center of attention releases an
amplified amount of activity in the sweat glands, leading to severe perspiration. First impressions are
usually crucial in making new friends, connections or even potential partners. Thus, the opportunity is
jeopardized when handshakes are almost always moist and slimy. This extends to interviews too,
regardless of it being academic or occupational. In addition to clammy hands, the matter of underarm
sweating is more trivial than it seems. We have to think about upper wear color schemes that aren t
prone to dark crescent moon blotches. I scorn light greys and typically turn towards whites and blacks.
In the professional workforce, certain dress codes that portray a serious business demeanor must be
followed. In terms of dress shirts, it can be almost impossible to wear bright colors such as green and
blue without being victim to darkened patches in a matter of minutes. Over the years, I ve adapted to
these problems and gotten creative with what works for me. Nevertheless, I d still much rather have
one less clothing issue to worry about on a daily basis. The worse would have to be giving a
presentation in front of an audience when you re put on the spot and the water dam just breaks
uncontrollably. I remember many instances of this in high school and dreaded every

The Sheep Is A Suitable Model
The sheep is a suitable model because the rotator cuff tendons are similar in size to human which from
a transitional standpoint allows for various suturing techniques to improve repairs. USDA approved,
female Black Suffolk sheep (n=23) (Ovis aries; age, 10 to 12 mo; weight, 55 to 105 kg) were
determined to be healthy by physical examination by a veterinarian at the University of Michigan s
Unit for Laboratory Animal Medicine (ULAM). All sheep were housed in groups within approved
large animal facilities for the duration of the study and assigned to 1 of 2 experimental groups (ETG
RC repair or suture only (SO) repair). The left shoulder was designated as the experimental rotator

Genocide In Darfur
Concerning the ethnic minorities of Burma, I believe that we are in a period where carefully analyzed
humanitarian input can have a successful impact. Unlike the genocide in Darfur, we re aware of a
developing situation where large scale genocide has not taken place yet. History further lends a hand
in paralleling the cordoning in society of minorities such as the Rohingya with that of the black
African minorities in the Nuba Mountains of Sudan. Lessons gained in the events in Sudan should be
considered in defending the minorities of Burma who are facing human rights violation. The first step
is early engagement and awareness. Advocacy before a potential genocide of Burmese minorities will
focus international attention on the Burmese government. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Sudanese government refused to allow NGOs into the Nuba Mountains, where genocide by
attrition was taking place. However, a London based human rights group, African Rights, played an
instrumental part in both reaching out to the Nuba as well as bringing their plight to the attention of
the international community. African Rights was able to gain access to the Nuba Mountains and
provide valuable communication logistics to the Nuba, which provided a window to the international
community of the human rights violations carried out by the Sudanese government. Similarly,
Burmese minorities such as the Rohingyas have been separated from the larger Burmese society. They
have very little rights and sustenance. A scenario eerily familiar to that of the Nuba people. We need to
insert humanitarians within these cordoned communities to document human rights violations. The
international community will have a more difficult time ignoring tangible documentation. Moving this

This article review is over the case report Differential Diagnosis and Treatment in a Patient with
Posterior Upper Thoracic Pain, found in the Journal of the American Physical Therapy Association.
The purpose of this article case report is to propose that CV/CT mobilization and active Trigger point

does this article provide interventions but it also describes clinical decision making which I found very
helpful. It also states early on The purpose of this case report are: (1) to outline the differential
diagnosis and clinical decision making process that was used based on history, patient presentation,

The patient in this case report has a history of limited cervical, trunk, and shoulder AROM ; painful
mobility of the right CV/CT joints in ribs three through six and periscapular trigger point release for
the past four months. Interventions used in the articles included CV/CT joint mobilizations, Trigger

Counseling And Life Coaching Summary
The book begins with analyzing the different aspects of counseling and life coaching, as life coaching
is not a professional position, which follows along with, it is not indicative to counselling. The author
expresses the idea of life coaching is to better someone s life with the concepts they have identified,
establishing guidelines/goals the client wants to improve upon or change in their lives (Nelson Jones,
2007) It continues to explain how important exchanging information is in life coaching. This applies
to the client and the life coach (Nelson Jones,2007).
Nelson Jones, (2007) describes four areas that help a new coach to use and expand on improving their

The Case Of Walker III V. Texas Division, Sons Of...
In Walker III v. Texas Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans (2015), attorney Scott Keller argues on
behalf of the petitioner Walker III (Walker) and attorney Roger George represents the respondent
Texas Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV). The case concerns the constitutionality of a
decision made by the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles Board (the DMV Board) to reject the
specialty license plate designs submitted by SCV and its members, and addresses possible violations
of the First and Fourteenth Amendment. Four contentions surround the issue: the form of speech
embodied by the specialty license plate program; State control over the content of specialty license
plates; specialty license plates as a limited public forum; and, ultimately, the potential violation of the
First Amendment s Free Speech Clause and the Fourteenth Amendment s guarantee of viewpoint
neutrality. Justice Breyer delivers the opinion of the Court, affirming the plates as government speech.
However, Justice Alito, joined by the Chief Justice, Justice Scalia, and Justice Kennedy, Justice Alito
dissents, concerned with. the Court s broad interpretation of government speech. Speaking for the
petitioner, Scott Keller cites Summum as precedent and asserts that messages displayed on Texas
license plates are, in fact, government speech. Dismissing the claim that specialty plates represent
government speech, Roger George, for the respondent, contends the State created a billboard

The Politics and Economics of FDA Drug Approval Essay
The Politics and Economics of FDA Drug Approval
The United Sates Food and Drug Administration has been protecting American consumers for around
70 years. The FDA assures the safety drugs, medical devices, chemicals, cosmetics, foods and
additives by evaluating products for approval. Controversy has recently been surrounding the FDA s
drug approval process, due to a general trend to get pharmaceuticals on the market more quickly. The
FDA has been under pressure from congress and the public to speed approval, but pharmaceutical
companies, who benefit more than anyone form accelerated drug approval, have also been applying
pressure to the FDA through congress. The speeding of the approval process helps patients with
incurable illnesses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Radiation Control for Health and Safety Act guarantees consumers protection from excess
radiation in certain devices. Lastly, The Public Health Service Act expanded the FDA s authority to
cover serums and vaccines and also justified the inspections of restaurants (Food and Drug
Administration [Britannica]). The FDA is adjusting to a switch in leader ship since Jane Heney,
previously the FDA s deputy commissioner of operations, was nominated in June 1998. Heney, the
first woman to head the FDA, has a packed resume that includes a vice presidency of the University of
New Mexico and a specialization in cancer research. Her strategy for the future of the FDA includes
the enforcement of new federal laws to modernize the FDA and addressing concerns about drug safety
and approval speed, as well as controlling food contamination (Davis 5D). The FDA requires
pharmaceutical companies to conduct years of research on their drugs before they begin the actual
process approval. Drug companies submit test results to the FDA to be reviewed by their scientists; the
FDA actually does no preliminary research on the drugs. In order to be approved, the companies must
prove to the FDA that each drug is safe and effective and that the benefits of the drug must outweigh
its side effects. The FDA has 800 to 900 employees involved in reviewing drugs before they get to the
market. After a drug is approved, the FDA researches by collecting and analyzing thousands of reports

The Feudal System Of The Middle Ages Of England
The Feudal System in the Middle Ages of England was not the best system of government to go by for
everyone since it gave most of its power to the King, and made it impossible for the lower class to
improve themselves economically. People of higher rank expected the lower ranks of society to pledge
their loyalty to them and in turn, protected them. There came a time where everybody became tired of
never progressing, and people started to do something about it. The end to Feudalism did not just
happen overnight, it took many years, a deadly disease and many angry peasants for the social class to
rise. First the nobles got the King to sign the Magna Carta, which limited the King s power, years later
a deadly disease caused the population of England to decrease by 1/3, and finally, The Peasants Revolt
which changed England forever. Feudalism first began after a collapse of the Roman Empire, and
barbarian tribes invading England. The social structure that became the Feudalism, consisted of the
clergy, knights and peasants. The clergy were the religious people that dedicated themselves to the
salvation of humanity. Kings, high nobles, and low nobles who were soldiers and meant to defend
others. The peasants were the people who grew crops and tended animals. Some rented their land and
the serfs worked for knights and were legally tied to that land. Everyone had obligations to someone.
This was the way the feudal system worked. As time went by though, people realized they

The British And French Armies
The British and French Armies adopted and modified this tactic as well to meet their battlefield needs.
They developed time standards based on terrain. Optimally, the artillery and infantry should
simultaneously advance approximately 100 yards every one to six minutes. Eventually shell variants
were used for concealment as well. Originally only shrapnel shells were used. As the tactic
progressed, artillery would fire smoke ahead of the high explosive rounds giving ultimate cover to the
advancing infantry (Griffith, 141). After these tactics were employed during the battle in the Argonne
forest, allied forces advanced quickly towards their objective and within ten days had beaten the
German Army into almost full retreat. Never before had the American or allied forces fought a battle
of such scale. However, once commanders that were not present at the battle relinquished control to
Generals on the ground, the battle took a turn. New tactics were introduced, ill performing
commanders were replaced, and Soldiers were given a chance to rest. Those factors gave allied forces
the means necessary to continue successfully in the battle in the Argonne forest. During the Great War,
the Army predominantly used the oldest of intelligence techniques. Espionage was dangerous and
often lead to the death of those soldiers and spies behind enemy lines. The time to deliver important
and relevant information to the front lines took time. The first large scale use of Army radio

Siddhartha Enlightenment Essay
Enlightenment is defined as the understanding and knowledge with the lack of hope and pain. The
idea of enlightenment can be found I different situations that can be connected through the spiritual
awakening of one s self. Siddhartha and the little boy from The Ocean at the End of the Lane are
worlds apart in age, creed, culture and historical era, they are similar in that they are both on a journey

Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse, is a novel about a young boy who is trying to find his spiritual

Childhood memories are sometimes covered and obscured beneath the things that come later, like
childhood toys forgotten at the bottom of a crammed adult closet, but they are never lost for good
(Gailman, 5). The young boy in the story returns to his childhood home as an adult and recalls his
memories. As he walks down his lane, the novels protagonist goes from a young man to himself as a
young boy. The young boy shows how a child sees the world around them, while the parents show
how adults see the world. The child s creativity, imaginative, and innocent mind is let loose through
the same situation as the adults from a different perspective. The memories from the neighbor s farm
begin to come back to him and when he sees the pond the smallest memories begin to return. He
recalls that the pond used to be call the ocean by the young girl Lettie. The magic as he recalls began
with his family car and continues to an unknown world in which he brings back an unknowing
monster. The young boys spiritial enlightenment begins as the two children travel through this
unknown world. The enlightenment continues as the different experiences occur throughout the time
that the monster is present. This monster, Ursula, turns into his nanny quickly convinces his family of
her well being on the farm. Ursula begins to create problems for the young boy, by not allowing him

Benefits of Using Mobile Technology in the Classroom
Technology is changing every day, and we are seeing this innovation in more places than ever,
especially in classrooms. More specifically, since the release of the first Apple iPad in March 2010 we
have seen an overwhelming amount of possibilities that were merely just ideas become available in
our classroom. Take for instance wanting to have a class trip to the Guggenheim. Now, this is possible
with virtual field trips. The Guggenheim offers a free app that lets individuals explore works of art
with a virtual tour and an audio tour. There are several other museums that offer this same feature,
such as Musée Du Louvre, The Canadian Museum of Civilization, and the American Museum of
Natural History. Say you want to bake a cake with the children in your classroom, but you have a child
with allergies. Now, this is possible with a cake baking app called Cake Maker Cooking Games, and
there are number of similar apps that allow the baking of all things imaginable via a tablet. With the
invention of iPads, and like tablets came the surge in production of applications or apps. Apps have an
interactive nature that allows users to play out real life scenarios, or scenarios that are far from reality.
Some may recall the 2009 commercial for the iPhone with the ever popular saying, There s an App for
that. Never would we have thought four years later, there really could be an app for almost any and
everything imaginable. Through experience in observing multiple schools and

Writing Out Notes And Homework On A Computer
With technology s new advancements, students are getting their homework done a lot sooner than they
used to by writing their notes out on the computer instead of on paper. Is getting homework done
faster worth having to study longer later? Writing out notes and homework by hand has more
educational benefits than typing notes and homework on a computer. Various studies have proven that
writing notes have a variety of benefits that exceed those of typing notes on a computer; retention rate,
distractions, and higher grades.
In an experiment done by Mueller and Oppenheimer, students were instructed to take notes, some
students did so by hand, others by laptops. Afterwards, they were given a test on what they took notes
on. Students who wrote ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The results were that those who took the standard class had considerably higher marks than those who
took the hybrid class. Those in the hybrid course earned an average of only 69.2% while the students
in the lecture earned an average of 77.9%. According to the researchers, students in the hybrid course
were less engaged with the material than those in the traditional section. (Adams) This is why they
believe that those who took the standard class were more successful in earning better grades than the
other students. In a different study by Robert Williams and Allan Eggert, Notetaking aids one s ability
to recall noted information and do well on exams related to that information. This is why it is so
important for students to take notes in class. When you write out notes in class while the teacher is
talking, you are forced to listen and summarize the key points of the lecture because writing notes are
significantly slower than typing the notes. When students take notes on computers, they generally tend
to type exactly what is being said instead of focusing on why it is important. When these students go
back and read their notes, they don t have a decent conceptual understanding of what was written
beforehand. COnsequently, these students need to spend more time studying to get the same results as

their lives by moral goodness and use these principles in everyday decision making. He also wanted

better understanding about our ability to control certain aspects of our lives. Epictetus focused on
control because he believed a key to happiness in life was understanding you can only control certain
aspects and the aspects you can t control should be left alone. One of the main ideas that Epictetus was

Arrogance Of Greek Heroes In Odyssey, Aeneid, And
Arrogance of Greek Heroes
Often readers will criticize the champions of classical and medieval epics for egotism. Critics cite
examples from the Odyssey, the Aeneid, and Beowulf of conceit and egocentric behavior. Odysseus,
Aeneas, and Beowulf display a well known arrogance befitting their accomplishments. The motivation
for this arrogance, to complete these tasks, to perform these feats, is often over generalized to the
point of inaccuracy and confusion. One must not let such misinterpretations interrupt the
humanization of these characters. Through the examination of the desires and behavior of these epic
heroes, we can discover an underlying need for recognition or honor. In classical and medieval
western epics, the hero s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

As a first step, the professors organize students into groups of four to five people, balancing the
groups based on both academic major and performance in the class to date (including performance on
homework and the first exam), as well as to achieve diversity. The group format is used to encourage
students to learn from each other, to motivate students to consider alternative viewpoints, to develop
students understanding of group dynamics, and to limit the amount of time required of the project for
both students and the faculty who must grade it. Each professor uses a different approach in selecting
the industry and companies for analysis. One professor takes industry suggestions from the class (with
the restriction that there be sufficient companies so that no more than two groups will have to analyze
the same pair of companies), writes the suggestions on the board, and asks students to vote for their
top two choices. Then, a second vote is taken from among the top two original suggestions, with a
majority vote determining the industry to be analyzed. Finally, groups have one week to send the
professor an email proposing two companies to analyze, with first responders being given preference,
so that no more than two groups analyze the same pair. 85 Misch and Galantine 86 The other

Black Stereotypes Of Modern Media

Essay Assignment 1
Anti Black Stereotypes in Modern Media Stereotypes are defined as an oversimplified image or idea
about a specific type of person. It is believed that stereotypes about African Americans began in the
United States around the 18th century. Anti Black stereotypes arguably the most developed racist
stereotypes in racial framing and have been used as foundations for the capture, enslavement, and
later, the subjugation of African American people. Stating that stereotypes are just a joke is an
understatement of the consequential after math racial images and stereotypes have on the African
American population. Even stereotypes that are considered positive are often concealed with negative
implications and reasons as to why they exist. Most people may think they only hold stereotypes in the
back of their head, but studies show that people are more likely to fall back on them in making

Blaming External Pressure for the Tragic Decline of Tess...
Blaming External Pressure for the Tragic Decline of Tess in Tess of the D Urbervilles From the
beginning of the novel Tess of the d Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy, it is clear that the main character,
Tess, is not going to have an easy life. She is deliberately targeted by cruel Immortals as their sadistic
plaything. This is symbolized during the club dance, where Tess is one of the white company but is the
only one to have a bright red ribbon in her hair. The mark of blood is on her from the start. Whilst Tess
is going to market she accidentally kills the family s horse. Her own guilt for this accidental death is
the first stage in a long series of incidents leading to Tess s tragic death at the end of the novel. ...

Tess at this stage was a mere of vessel of emotion untinctured by experience and she did not know
how evil men could sometimes be. She was almost like an attractive piece of bait, used to lure a
wealthy young to marry into the Durbeyfield Family and restore them to their previous aristocratic
status. Joan Durbeyfield did not care about her daughter s morals she felt that if d Urberville didn t
marry her afore, he would after . Tess is seduced by Alec and taken advantage of, and as a result she is
seen as a social outcast. At the time of her seduction or rape, Tess had been rescued from the
aggressive Car D arch and was emotionally and physically tired after the persistent chase by Alec. The
sad result that she became pregnant as a consequence of this sexual liaison with d Urberville is a
further suggestion that her cruel fate is all planned in advance by merciless gods. The institutionalised
Christianity during the reign of Queen Victoria, meant that Tess was seen as an outcast. She had given
birth to a bastard child an the rigid social attitudes of Victorian society meant she was frowned upon
even though she took good care of the child and clearly loved it intensely. Tess then commits a
blasphemous act when she baptises the infant and names it sorrow. It seems that the cruel and
inflexible religious laws of the time would not

Essay on Role of Federal Rate in Economics
The Federal Funds Rate is the interest rate that Federal Reserve uses to trade funds with banks.
Changes in this rate can trigger a chain of events that can be beneficial or devastating to the economy.
If a bank is charged a higher interest rate to trade money or take out a loan, then the increase will be
passed on to their customers, causing them to pay higher transaction fees or more interest. Each
month, the Federal Open Market Committee meets to determine the federal funds rate. This in turn
affects other short term interest rates. The determining rate immediately impacts the rates at which
banks borrow money and the interest rates the banks use to charge their customers on loans. If the rate
raise is too high, then money flow drops ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cut backs could be that employees take pay cuts, resulting in even less money available for spending.
Cut backs can also be that the number of employees is reduced, causing the remaining workers take on
more of a work load. The employees laid off will increase the number of people drawing
unemployment, and increase the number of job seekers trying to get a reduced number of jobs.
Obviously all of these factors can have some kind of effect on the economy. With cut backs comes a
slowdown in output and production from businesses and can cause inflation to occur where people
make the same or less amount of money but the price of goods goes up. Essentially, interest rates
control the whole economy: if interest rates go up then the economy slows down and vice versa.
However if interest rates go too low or stay low for a long period of time it can lead to inflation which
also hurts the economy. In essence, higher interest rates are not necessarily a bad thing. Higher interest
rates can curb inflation, meaning your pay will go further. A good example of this is the price of
gasoline. When the price of gas goes up people drive less and spend less because more and more of
their income goes toward fuel. When the price of gas goes down people have more money to spend.
The increase in spending will be seen somewhere in the economy whether it is at the grocery store or
online internet sales.
Short term investments are

An Igbo Folklore That Matter
Stories that Matter Maybe if I thought about things differently my life would have been better, but
sometimes or even most of times things are just what they are right or wrong. There is an Igbo
folklore that I am going to tell you about the tortoise and the birds. Once, there was a feast in the
heavens and all the birds were invited, not the tortoise. However, because of the cunning nature of the
tortoise, he wanted to go with the birds. But, how was he going to do that? Well, he had to look for a
way to fly so he decided to borrow feathers from the birds with the trick that he was going to be their
spokesperson. But then, things changed as got they got to heaven. The tortoise told the officials that
his name was All of you, so when all the foods and gifts came, the officials said this is for all of you,
and the tortoise claimed everything for himself. The birds got so angry they all left him stranded in
heaven except for the Parrot. The tortoise sent a message through the Parrot to his family to bring out
all the soft things in his house so he could land on them, but the Parrot still enraged told his family
otherwise. All the hard things were brought out and the tortoise landed on them, which is the reason
why the tortoise has a broken shell today. I was told this story over and over again growing up, and I
have lived with it ever since. Do I believe or not? That is for me to answer. Do you believe or not?

Abstract
... by taking the position of capital punishment reform, we feel that we can appease the most people.
Our candidate would risk alienating some of the more moderate voters if we recommended a more
radical stance. Our stance appeals to both sides because we do not abolish the death penalty outright,
nor do we leave the capital punishment situation unchanged. We will appease those looking for
abolishment by greatly restricting the use of the death penalty, and, as stated earlier, eliminating most
of the problems within the capital punishment system. And, we will appease those who favor the

In regards to the death penalty in the United States, many people either believe that the key is issue
that the death penalty is needed because it properly punishes a criminal for the serious offenses they
commit, or cry afoul at the government for putting people to death, calling the death penalty a human
right s violation. The whole main issue boils down to a matter of life or death, who has the right to live
and who has the right to take life, when and why. The issue of the death penalty becomes very
complicated though when the grey areas are applied. The grey areas are those thoughts and ideas that
must be taken into account thus making the issue far more than black and white.
The first grey area issue is that many people, especially in the more organized Christian
denominations, Baptists, Episcopalians, and Lutherans believe the death penalty is a just form of
punishment due to their moral teachings, especially that justice consists of the ideal an eye for an eye
(Heim 2), but they feel that it is unnecessarily used in the United States (Bedau). Therefore in a case
like this the argument of the death penalty s legality is no longer an issue, it becomes an issue of in
what cases can the death penalty be fairly implied (EWTN). This issue is rather important because the
majority of Americans with religious affiliations

Jacksonian Era Essay
The Jacksonian Era (1824 1848)
Although the Age of Jackson wasn t a time era, which brought forth a great political, social, or
economic freedom and equality to the U.S., it did in fact put our country through a metamorphosis in
our political lives of the nation. The start of a new presidency (Jackson s presidency) was
accompanied by huge numbers of Hickoryites (Jacksonian supporters) and official hopefuls. Many of
these hopefuls were granted their desire of holding office, which is one of the changes brought into
Washington by Andrew Jackson.
The major accomplishments of Jackson during his presidency pertain to his rural upbringing and
democratic beliefs. To name a couple of Jackson s memorable accomplishments and decisions not ...

The selection of officials of Jackson was in many cases the return of a financial grant during
campaigning. The consideration of the ability to govern, have intelligence and responsibility etc. were
ignored in the wake of compensation. Although opposites alike were granted power they were not
always for the continuance of democracy.
Jackson was the most democratic of any president at that time to come to power. In practically all
areas of political application there was the existence of liberal thinking. This was especially apparent
in his previously mentioned appointment of officials. Jackson considered the roles of officials fairly
simple and could and should be carried out by all people not just the members of the socially and
intellectually elite. The belief of complete equality is with out a doubt Jacksonian. Despite this already
democratic view, Jackson took it one step further and appointed the illiterate and plain incompetent
members of society to office.
Tariffs plagued the president also many times, but the most remembered were the Tariff of
Abominations in 1828, and the tariff of 1832. South Carolina passed an Ordinance of Nullification,
and upset Jackson tremendously. They stated that those tariffs were null and void to South Carolina,
and it would be unlawful to collect for duties. They also had the nerve to warn the

The Sarbanes Oxley Act Of 2002 Essay
The Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002 was the result of a number of large financial scandals in the United
States in the late 1990s and early 2000s. One of the most well known corporate accounting scandals
was the Enron scandal, which was exposed in 2001. Enron, an energy company that was considered
one of the most financially sound corporations in the United States before the scandal, produced false
earnings reports to shareholders and kept large debts off the accounting books (Peavler, 2016). Enron
executives also committed fraud by embezzling corporate funds and manipulating the stock market.
Enron shareholders lost around $74 billion dollars, Enron employees lost their retirement accounts,
and some Enron employees even lost their jobs (The 10 Worst Corporate Accounting Scandals of All
Time, n.d.).
Another corporate accounting scandal that occurred in the United States before the Sarbanes Oxley
Act came into effect was the WorldCom scandal in 2002. Seventeen thousand employees were fired
and $3.8 billion dollars in profit were removed from their accounting books after an internal audit
discovered improper expense accounting in 2001 and 2002. This improper accounting inflated the
cash flow so the company would not report a net loss, only a net gain (Hancock, 2002). A similar
communications corporation, Adelphia, was also rocked by a corporate accounting scandal in 2002.
The Securities and Exchange Commission filed charges against the founder of Adelphia and his three
sons

Analysis Of A Lock Of Hair And A Wounded Heart
A Lock of Hair and a Wounded Heart Throughout the course of history and its literature, authors and
poets have served as messengers for the times in which they lived, whether it be about political
upheaval or social constructs or the lives of the common man. One way this was accomplished was
through satire. Alexander Pope, whom of which lived in the literary Restoration period and wrote the
poem, The Rape of the Lock, in 1714, provides a work as an excellent example of satire. He parodies
the upper classes favorite literature (epic, heroic poetry) to mock the absurdity and irrationality of the
upper class. Using the common tropes of divine intervention, hyperbole, and lofty language, a
gleefully sarcastic tone emerges to allow the reader to see through the faux seriousness regarding the
loss of a strand of hair from a noble woman. In numerous works of epic poetry and that of the classic
style, an invocation to divine spirits and gods invited a sense of vindication and importance in a work.
Works like Homer s long beloved Odyssey among others almost completely rely on divine
intervention to effectuate the plot and justify actions of either the protagonist or the antagonist. Pope
crafitly uses this common tactic in such works to parody the highbrow love for them. In the case of
Belinda, her beauty is such to rival nymphs and Aphrodite; she is incontestably divine in human form,
made of love and youth and flowering nature. That beauty, however, is soiled when a lock from

Saber Toothed Cat: Smilodon
The Saber Toothed Cat was a very common animal during the time of the Ice Age and with the end of
it also the time of the Saber Toothed Cat ended. Most known for their long canines, scientists assume
that the Saber Toothed Cat was an effective hunter, even if the long saber like teeth were very fragile
(function is still not clear). However, what were those cats in reality: Organized hunters and social
animals or scavengers? The family of Saber Toothed Cats includes too many and too different species
to put information of all into one essay, so we will specialize on Smilodon, the most common Saber
Toothed Cat. Together with the Ice Age about 2.5 million years ago the Smilodon appeared. It lived in
North and South America where it most likely hid in closed habitats such as forests and bushland.
They preferred hunting in high grass because as some scientists think they had a similar colored fur to
tigers which made it harder to locate them in bush and grass.
With a shoulder height of 1.05 meters Smilodon was smaller than most people imagine. The biggest
Smilodon weight was most likely around 300 kilograms. This is, compared to their size, a lot. They

Interviews are a very common documentary direct address technique as it allows people to speak
directly about events while being subtly lead by questions from the filmmaker. Only a short amount of
footage is shown from the interview, taken from hours of shooting to give the documentary a sense of
realism. In the garden scene we can see the use of jump cuts and the cutting room floor. Many other
techniques were used to back up the realism of the interview such as the natural lighting while he was

Global Warming
Global warming is a big problem and impacts our environment in a negative way because it is heating
the Earth. Global warming impacts all of the life around us even though not many people recognize it.
There are many problems that global warming will make to our environment and it has already
impacted it over time. Although, there are many problems, there are also solutions to stop global
warming. Climate change is most closely related to global warming and many scientists have found
ways to try and put a stop to it.
One of the biggest problems of global warming is the global climate change that is occurring. Some
examples of how it is changing is that temperatures are rising and have ... Show more content on

Global warming also causes intense weather and weather patterns. When the ocean water heats up,
then that means it will create hurricanes and as the Earth continues to heat up then it will make even
stronger hurricanes over time. Hurricanes are increasing because in some ocean basins, hurricane
intensification has been linked to rising ocean temperatures (Global Warming Impacts). Other times of
weather that can occur in some areas are flooded because of excess precipitation. Excess precipitation
can be a bad thing because flooding is destroying a lot of things, for example military bases near the
coast. Wildfires are beginning to occur more often now since the Earth is heating up which is a
disaster because that affects plants and animals. If wildfires occur, then many forests will die and that
will pollute the air even more. `
There are a few solutions to stop global warming and the most common one is to reduce the burning
of fossil fuels. Whenever people use an automobile, a car, bus, or plane, then that is polluting the air,
which will warm the Earth because the ozone layer is getting destroyed. Although many people have
to have transportation, if they cut down on their driving or got more energy efficient cars then it would
help a lot. The car that you buy is a very important factor because each gallon of gas you use is
responsible for 25 pounds of heat trapping gases in the atmosphere (Ten). Whenever people burn fossil
fuels it creates

Description Of Augmented Reality
Abstract
A hand gesture may be denoted as a set of motion parameters mathematically which can be applied to

Detailed Description
Below described are systems and techniques for evaluating motions or gestures of a person s hand
within an environment. A hand gesture can be characterized by a set of motion parameters which can
be represented by a dynamic motion model.
A hand gesture may comprise a sequence of pose vectors, where each pose vector indicates the
position and orientation of the hand at a time. The position and orientation can be specified by
measuring the pose parameters with respect to previous poses in the sequence.
A library can be created for reference gestures by performing training sessions where people should
perform gestures with their hands repetitively. Each attempt of performing a gesture is monitored to
create a corresponding motion sequence. Numerous monitored motion sequences may be averaged or
combined to generate a reference sequence for that gesture. Each reference sequence can be examined
to estimate motion parameters that are applied to a dynamic motion model. All these multiple sets of
motion parameters corresponding to various hand gestures are stored in the memory to create a
reference library.
Various types of sensors and cameras can be used to capture the images denoting the environment and
the person s hand within it.
An Augmented Reality Function Node(ARFN) consists of one or more computing devices, multiple
projectors to project any content onto a surface in the environment, multiple cameras to capture the

Theme Of Wealth In Great Expectations
In Great Expectations, by Charles Dickens, wealth is a common theme that has varying effects on
different characters and their attitudes. Pip and Drummle are both people whose experiences with
money shape who they are, and how they act. Throughout the first part of the novel, Dickens writing
shows that money does not always equal happiness.
Pip has had no experiences with the upper class by the beginning of Great Expectations, and as a
result, he is satisfied with his conventional life. But, this all changes when he starts going to the Satis
house and socializing with Ms. Havisham and her daughter, Estella. After seeing what Pip feels his
life should be, he becomes dissatisfied with his social class, even stating I wished Joe had been rather
more genteelly brought up, and then I should have been so too. , Implying that he is also unhappy with
the upbringing of his family members. His preoccupation with wealth and status causes him to grow

Havisham s characters both reacted negatively to money and the responsibilities attached to it. Pip
began his life without money, yet it still caused him grief even when he got his fortune. Ms. Havisham
was born into the lap of luxury, but her wealth ultimately hindered her ability to heal and function as a
normal human being. Without the influence of money, perhaps these characters would have found
happiness earlier on in life, and their expectations could have been less great. Ultimately, the saying

Behavior Modification Final Report
Behavior Modification Final Report
Lose 10 pounds by Exercising 30 Minutes a Day: By the End of Semester
My topic for the Behavior Modification was to lose 10 pounds by exercising at least 30 minutes a day
along with pursuing a healthy diet by the end of the semester. The strategies I incorporated to support
this goal are: phone apps and using the P90X exercise program. The thought of using the apps, is to
see the actual data and to point out unhealthy behaviors. Furthermore, healthy eating and daily
exercise would promote sound body and mind along with restful sleep patterns. I also included prayer
in my everyday workouts asking for the strength and stamina to get through the day.
The P90X program publicizes muscle confusion to affirm the effectiveness of the workouts. This
particular program suggests you take a before and after picture of yourself for motivation, which I do
not feel comfortable with sharing at this time due to the program does suggest you continue the
program for 90 days to see ultimate results. Consequently, I have not gone through the 90 days for I
started in September. I struggled with the program and found I needed to modify many of the moves
due to knee pain. Fortunately, one of the wonderful things about the ... Show more content on

The P90X system builds lean muscle which I noticed by the loss of inches instead of pounds. I have
gone down one pant size, and can now fit into my jeans that had been collecting dust. I had days that
were bad days that is for sure, but I put on my big girl pants and moved forward to the next day. I
found if I were to snack throughout the day with healthy option, I was less likely to make bad choices
due to hunger pangs. I will continue to document my exercise and food intake with a daily journal,
maybe even graduate to a phone app that I will actually like! I plan on sticking to the 90 days of P90X
with the before and after picture to share with myself and maybe

Povertyin the World
Poverty evokes various definitions depending on the audience and perhaps the purpose or context that
it is used. Limiting the definition of poverty to a value judgment is of little use in terms of agreeing on
a definition for the purpose of comparison and measurement between groups (Sen 1979, p.285). A
clear definition of poverty supports and indicates the process for measurement, and as such would also
assist in determining the focus and approach for development (Clark 2012; Ruggeri, Saith Stewart
2006, p.19). In reviewing Oxfam Australia s (Oxfam) Close the Gap campaign, it is necessary to
identify the approach that is taken in defining poverty in order to gauge the scope of the project, the
development of the approach used, and to quantify the change that occurs.
Oxfam itself has identified Close the Gap as a human rights campaign that aims to close the life
expectancy health gap of 10 17 years for Aboriginal and Torres Strait within a generation (Holland
2014, p.46). Vizard in her exploration of Sen s capability approach (2005, p.24), emphasises the
marriage of capabilities with human rights, citing poverty as one of the key exclusions to fundamental
freedoms and human rights, thus expanding the definition of poverty into a multidimensional one.
Health is one of the dimensions included in the rights approach, which suggests that the abuses of
human rights result in poverty and are also a result of poverty (OHCHR 2006, p.16). Along with a

Come and See, directed by Elem Klimov
Those that engage in the activity of war can be noted as mad and insane, but some individuals may
also be considered brave souls, and that all depends on the select few that dare to go through with the
entire process of being involved in such a feat. The forces in the war who only murder to get a rise out
of and who continually toy with the on lookers can be portrayed as mad and insane, while those who
decide to join the noble partisans, despite perhaps even being drafted, to play their part in war were
considered to be brave young soldiers. This was exactly the case in Russian director Elem Klimov s
1985 film Come and See. The main character, Florian, a boy of fourteen years, is dragged into a war
by the force of the Belorussian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only thing that results from the act of war is endless violence and death, and that in itself does not
seem very kind to the average being, despite having to deal with it, and accepting the fact that actions
such as that would happen in society no matter what is a difficult task that not only the average being,
but also the everyday pacifist and everyone alike, no matter what the circumstance or situation, all
should know of the truth that goes on in the world, no matter how much it hurts, because it must learn
to be accepted by each and every individual sooner or later.
The ironic style of Crane s writing is an element that needs to be given closer and further inspection
and examination until one finally reads between the lines and sees what Crane is trying to state. His
last line of the second stanza of War is Kind , which is refrained a second time at the end of the fourth
stanza,
A field where a thousand corpses lie (Crane 11, 22) can reflect back to Come and See, with both the
bodies in the back of Florian s house and the villagers that were burned to death in the barn. The way
the brave army soldiers and noble partisans are portrayed in Come and See shows them as serious
individuals that would do anything to win what could be considered the most important war of their
entire lives, let alone, just a simple fight. They are portrayed as warriors that will continue to strike
until the bouts

African American Gangs
The two ethnic group I ve chosen to discuss here are the Norteno and Sureno Hispanics, along with
the Bloods and Crips of the African American cultures. Although the groups have several ethnic
differences the political aspect of the sets they claim have several similarities. In terms of street gangs,
Hispanic, and African American gangs dominate the world of gangs, in size, violence, drug
distribution, and representation throughout the country and even internationally. Valdez states, African
American street gangs adopted membership indicia commonly used by Latino Gangs A common form
for all gangs are to use graffiti, which is a way of marking their territory and or a way to show rival

Bloods and Crips exist in smaller groups in the prison system, but usually have what appears to be
some sort of truce, while serving their prison term. If they do form these small groups, it is because
they are looking for protection. If the African American gang member decides to be part of the gang
they usually decide to side with the prison gang, The Black Guerrilla Family, which is the largest
African American prison gang. However, the Hispanic gang members in and out of prison are
interdependent on each other s support and representation. is that the Hispanic gangs on the streets are
already representing their prison gangs, as they serve as the foot soldiers that earn money for their
brothers that are serving time. Once the Norteno or Sureno member arrives into the prison he is
immediate sought out and taken into the protection of his gang. In a way it like they grow in their
status, and earn their gang ranking, because they have arrived home and have ultimately proved they

ISIS Terrorist Group Synthesis Essay
Violence and discrimination ravage the lives of thousands of Middle Eastern Christians. The amount
of support for the notorious ISIS terrorist group is surprisingly large in many of these countries. 21%
of people in Syria support ISIS and the more reformed Turkey even has 8% support (Galka). These
two countries alone amount to approximately 10 million ISIS supporters, not accounting for the
several other countries with similar support ( Countries in ). Although many Christians and other
religious minorities in the Middle East are harassed and even killed for their faith, some legal reforms
along with many non profit organizations are responding to this crisis.
In recent decades, the terrorist group known as ISIS emerged in the Middle East and has harassed
many Christians ever since. Before the emergence of this group, Iraq was home to the largely diverse
city of Mosul, but, in the summer of 2014[,] ISIS blitzkrieged its way into northern Iraq, marking

To elaborate, Middle Eastern countries would have to remove Islam from the governing power that it
currently has, and allow for a much more democratic republican (as in a governmental system, not the
republican party) system. This is the obvious, and much needed, solution for reforming religious
requirements. If religion is removed from government, then that allows for more religious freedoms
and creates an atmosphere for public opinion rather that Islamicaly based laws and tyrannical power in
the government. This must be done in order to end minority suffering in the Middle East once and for
all. If people around the world were to simply open their eyes and demand reform, many lives would

mammals have held a residency on this Earth for millions of years with ancestors dating back to
prehistoric times. They are not only a part of our history, but also a part of myth and legends that have
been told throughout generations and various cultures. There are three major groups of marine
mammals found around the world. Marine mammals include at least 117 species within the orders
Carnivora, Sirenia, and Cetacea (Thurman, 2014). Today, these often gentle and intelligent creatures
are faced with many obstacles and challenges to survive and adapt. While adaptation has been a
natural process for all species through time and evolution, these sea creatures are being forced to adapt
at a faster rate in the last century. This has been largely due to an increase of human fishing, ocean
pollution, and climate change. Sadly, for some, these adjustments in their natural environment are
creating changes faster than they can evolve or survive. Figure 1 Evolution Sea mammals have
evolved from land animals to marine animals from their former land ancestors going back as far as the
Paleocene Age which occurred 65 million years ago. The earliest representatives of these

There is definitely anxiety and stress associated with uncovering and eventually reporting alleged fraud. In an effort to prevent the whistleblower from revealing the lawsuit to anyone, whistleblower or qui tam cases are generally filed under court seal. This means the relator cannot discuss the case with family, friends or co workers until the government has completed their investigation and can oftentimes be difficult on the person bringing the evidence to light, as this may bring about feelings of isolation. • 3. Perspiration And Social Anxiety Explore the Connection Between Social Anxiety and Excessive Perspiration Everyone has problems. People say that no one is perfect, and I completely believe that to be an axiom of life. As for me, my fair share of social anxiety and stress comes from a certain health disorder called hyperhidrosis, which is simply an exaggerated amount of perspiration. For example, it may just be sweating in the palms, underarms, soles, face or all of the above. Now, just to get an idea of how rare this condition is, it is estimated that 3% of the United States population is affected to some extent. That amounts to almost 10 million people living and suffering from its wrath. Although I have not been officially diagnosed with hyperhidrosis, my conviction is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It s when a large group of people collaborates to achieve an intended goal, whether that is to inform, teach, persuade, entertain, or in general, communicate ideas. It s also a complicated time for someone with hyperhidrosis because the agony and uneasiness of being a center of attention releases an amplified amount of activity in the sweat glands, leading to severe perspiration. First impressions are usually crucial in making new friends, connections or even potential partners. Thus, the opportunity is jeopardized when handshakes are almost always moist and slimy. This extends to interviews too, regardless of it being academic or occupational. In addition to clammy hands, the matter of underarm sweating is more trivial than it seems. We have to think about upper wear color schemes that aren t prone to dark crescent moon blotches. I scorn light greys and typically turn towards whites and blacks. In the professional workforce, certain dress codes that portray a serious business demeanor must be followed. In terms of dress shirts, it can be almost impossible to wear bright colors such as green and blue without being victim to darkened patches in a matter of minutes. Over the years, I ve adapted to these problems and gotten creative with what works for me. Nevertheless, I d still much rather have one less clothing issue to worry about on a daily basis. Unlike the genocide in Darfur, we re aware of a developing situation where large scale genocide has not taken place yet. African Rights was able to gain access to the Nuba Mountains and provide valuable communication logistics to the Nuba, which provided a window to the international community of the human rights violations carried out by the Sudanese government. Similarly, Burmese minorities such as the Rohingyas have been separated from the larger Burmese society. They have very little rights and sustenance. A scenario eerily familiar to that of the Nuba people. We need to insert humanitarians within these cordoned communities to document human rights violations. Texas Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans (2015), attorney Scott Keller argues on behalf of the petitioner Walker III (Walker) and attorney Roger George represents the respondent Texas Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV). The case concerns the constitutionality of a decision made by the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles Board (the DMV Board) to reject the specialty license plate designs submitted by SCV and its members, and addresses possible violations of the First and Fourteenth Amendment. Four contentions surround the issue: the form of speech embodied by the specialty license plate program; State control over the content of specialty license plates; specialty license plates as a limited public forum; and, ultimately, the potential violation of the First Amendment s Free Speech Clause and the Fourteenth Amendment s guarantee of viewpoint neutrality. Justice Breyer delivers the opinion of the Court, affirming the plates as government speech. However, Justice Alito, joined by the Chief Justice, Justice Scalia, and Justice Kennedy, Justice Alito dissents, concerned with. the Court s broad interpretation of government speech. • 10. The Feudal System Of The Middle Ages Of England The Feudal System in the Middle Ages of England was not the best system of government to go by for everyone since it gave most of its power to the King, and made it impossible for the lower class to improve themselves economically. People of higher rank expected the lower ranks of society to pledge their loyalty to them and in turn, protected them. There came a time where everybody became tired of never progressing, and people started to do something about it. The end to Feudalism did not just happen overnight, it took many years, a deadly disease and many angry peasants for the social class to rise. First the nobles got the King to sign the Magna Carta, which limited the King s power, years later a deadly disease caused the population of England to decrease by 1/3, and finally, The Peasants Revolt which changed England forever. Feudalism first began after a collapse of the Roman Empire, and barbarian tribes invading England. The social structure that became the Feudalism, consisted of the clergy, knights and peasants. The clergy were the religious people that dedicated themselves to the salvation of humanity. Kings, high nobles, and low nobles who were soldiers and meant to defend others. The peasants were the people who grew crops and tended animals. Some rented their land and the serfs worked for knights and were legally tied to that land. Everyone had obligations to someone. This was the way the feudal system worked. As time went by though, people realized they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The British And French Armies The British and French Armies adopted and modified this tactic as well to meet their battlefield needs. They developed time standards based on terrain. Optimally, the artillery and infantry should simultaneously advance approximately 100 yards every one to six minutes. Eventually shell variants were used for concealment as well. Originally only shrapnel shells were used. As the tactic progressed, artillery would fire smoke ahead of the high explosive rounds giving ultimate cover to the advancing infantry (Griffith, 141). After these tactics were employed during the battle in the Argonne forest, allied forces advanced quickly towards their objective and within ten days had beaten the German Army into almost full retreat. Never before had the American or allied forces fought a battle of such scale. However, once commanders that were not present at the battle relinquished control to Generals on the ground, the battle took a turn. New tactics were introduced, ill performing commanders were replaced, and Soldiers were given a chance to rest. Those factors gave allied forces the means necessary to continue successfully in the battle in the Argonne forest. During the Great War, the Army predominantly used the oldest of intelligence techniques. Espionage was dangerous and often lead to the death of those soldiers and spies behind enemy lines. The time to deliver important and relevant information to the front lines took time. The first large scale use of Army radio intelligence ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Various studies have proven that writing notes have a variety of benefits that exceed those of typing notes on a computer; retention rate, distractions, and higher grades. When you write out notes in class while the teacher is talking, you are forced to listen and summarize the key points of the lecture because writing notes are significantly slower than typing the notes. Black Stereotypes Of Modern Media Angelique AJ Gordon ETHN 3400 Essay Assignment 1 Anti Black Stereotypes in Modern Media Stereotypes are defined as an oversimplified image or idea about a specific type of person. It is believed that stereotypes about African Americans began in the United States around the 18th century. Anti Black stereotypes arguably the most developed racist stereotypes in racial framing and have been used as foundations for the capture, enslavement, and later, the subjugation of African American people. Changes in this rate can trigger a chain of events that can be beneficial or devastating to the economy. If a bank is charged a higher interest rate to trade money or take out a loan, then the increase will be passed on to their customers, causing them to pay higher transaction fees or more interest. Each month, the Federal Open Market Committee meets to determine the federal funds rate. This in turn affects other short term interest rates. The determining rate immediately impacts the rates at which banks borrow money and the interest rates the banks use to charge their customers on loans. Cut backs can also be that the number of employees is reduced, causing the remaining workers take on more of a work load. The employees laid off will increase the number of people drawing unemployment, and increase the number of job seekers trying to get a reduced number of jobs. Obviously all of these factors can have some kind of effect on the economy. With cut backs comes a slowdown in output and production from businesses and can cause inflation to occur where people make the same or less amount of money but the price of goods goes up. Essentially, interest rates control the whole economy: if interest rates go up then the economy slows down and vice versa. However if interest rates go too low or stay low for a long period of time it can lead to inflation which also hurts the economy. In essence, higher interest rates are not necessarily a bad thing. Higher interest rates can curb inflation, meaning your pay will go further. A good example of this is the price of gasoline. When the price of gas goes up people drive less and spend less because more and more of their income goes toward fuel. When the price of gas goes down people have more money to spend. Our stance appeals to both sides because we do not abolish the death penalty outright, nor do we leave the capital punishment situation unchanged. The whole main issue boils down to a matter of life or death, who has the right to live and who has the right to take life, when and why. The issue of the death penalty becomes very complicated though when the grey areas are applied. The grey areas are those thoughts and ideas that must be taken into account thus making the issue far more than black and white. The first grey area issue is that many people, especially in the more organized Christian denominations, Baptists, Episcopalians, and Lutherans believe the death penalty is a just form of punishment due to their moral teachings, especially that justice consists of the ideal an eye for an eye (Heim 2), but they feel that it is unnecessarily used in the United States (Bedau). Therefore in a case like this the argument of the death penalty s legality is no longer an issue, it becomes an issue of in what cases can the death penalty be fairly implied (EWTN). Despite this already democratic view, Jackson took it one step further and appointed the illiterate and plain incompetent members of society to office. Tariffs plagued the president also many times, but the most remembered were the Tariff of Abominations in 1828, and the tariff of 1832. South Carolina passed an Ordinance of Nullification, and upset Jackson tremendously. • 31. The Sarbanes Oxley Act Of 2002 Essay The Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002 was the result of a number of large financial scandals in the United States in the late 1990s and early 2000s. One of the most well known corporate accounting scandals was the Enron scandal, which was exposed in 2001. Enron, an energy company that was considered one of the most financially sound corporations in the United States before the scandal, produced false earnings reports to shareholders and kept large debts off the accounting books (Peavler, 2016). Enron executives also committed fraud by embezzling corporate funds and manipulating the stock market. Enron shareholders lost around $74 billion dollars, Enron employees lost their retirement accounts, and some Enron employees even lost their jobs (The 10 Worst Corporate Accounting Scandals of All Time, n.d.). Another corporate accounting scandal that occurred in the United States before the Sarbanes Oxley Act came into effect was the WorldCom scandal in 2002. Seventeen thousand employees were fired and $3.8 billion dollars in profit were removed from their accounting books after an internal audit discovered improper expense accounting in 2001 and 2002. This improper accounting inflated the cash flow so the company would not report a net loss, only a net gain (Hancock, 2002). A similar communications corporation, Adelphia, was also rocked by a corporate accounting scandal in 2002. The Securities and Exchange Commission filed charges against the founder of Adelphia and his three sons ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Analysis Of A Lock Of Hair And A Wounded Heart A Lock of Hair and a Wounded Heart Throughout the course of history and its literature, authors and poets have served as messengers for the times in which they lived, whether it be about political upheaval or social constructs or the lives of the common man. One way this was accomplished was through satire. Alexander Pope, whom of which lived in the literary Restoration period and wrote the poem, The Rape of the Lock, in 1714, provides a work as an excellent example of satire. He parodies the upper classes favorite literature (epic, heroic poetry) to mock the absurdity and irrationality of the upper class. Using the common tropes of divine intervention, hyperbole, and lofty language, a gleefully sarcastic tone emerges to allow the reader to see through the faux seriousness regarding the loss of a strand of hair from a noble woman. In numerous works of epic poetry and that of the classic style, an invocation to divine spirits and gods invited a sense of vindication and importance in a work. Works like Homer s long beloved Odyssey among others almost completely rely on divine intervention to effectuate the plot and justify actions of either the protagonist or the antagonist. Pope crafitly uses this common tactic in such works to parody the highbrow love for them. In the case of Belinda, her beauty is such to rival nymphs and Aphrodite; she is incontestably divine in human form, made of love and youth and flowering nature. That beauty, however, is soiled when a lock from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay On Smilodon Saber Toothed Cat: Smilodon The Saber Toothed Cat was a very common animal during the time of the Ice Age and with the end of it also the time of the Saber Toothed Cat ended. Most known for their long canines, scientists assume that the Saber Toothed Cat was an effective hunter, even if the long saber like teeth were very fragile (function is still not clear). However, what were those cats in reality: Organized hunters and social animals or scavengers? The family of Saber Toothed Cats includes too many and too different species to put information of all into one essay, so we will specialize on Smilodon, the most common Saber Toothed Cat. Together with the Ice Age about 2.5 million years ago the Smilodon appeared. It lived in North and South America where it most likely hid in closed habitats such as forests and bushland. They preferred hunting in high grass because as some scientists think they had a similar colored fur to tigers which made it harder to locate them in bush and grass. With a shoulder height of 1.05 meters Smilodon was smaller than most people imagine. The biggest Smilodon weight was most likely around 300 kilograms. This is, compared to their size, a lot. Other times of weather that can occur in some areas are flooded because of excess precipitation. Excess precipitation can be a bad thing because flooding is destroying a lot of things, for example military bases near the coast. Wildfires are beginning to occur more often now since the Earth is heating up which is a disaster because that affects plants and animals. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Detailed Description Below described are systems and techniques for evaluating motions or gestures of a person s hand within an environment. A hand gesture can be characterized by a set of motion parameters which can be represented by a dynamic motion model. A hand gesture may comprise a sequence of pose vectors, where each pose vector indicates the position and orientation of the hand at a time. The position and orientation can be specified by measuring the pose parameters with respect to previous poses in the sequence. A library can be created for reference gestures by performing training sessions where people should perform gestures with their hands repetitively. Each attempt of performing a gesture is monitored to create a corresponding motion sequence. Numerous monitored motion sequences may be averaged or combined to generate a reference sequence for that gesture. Each reference sequence can be examined to estimate motion parameters that are applied to a dynamic motion model. All these multiple sets of motion parameters corresponding to various hand gestures are stored in the memory to create a reference library. Various types of sensors and cameras can be used to capture the images denoting the environment and the person s hand within it. Pip and Drummle are both people whose experiences with money shape who they are, and how they act. • 45. Povertyin the World Poverty evokes various definitions depending on the audience and perhaps the purpose or context that it is used. Limiting the definition of poverty to a value judgment is of little use in terms of agreeing on a definition for the purpose of comparison and measurement between groups (Sen 1979, p.285). A clear definition of poverty supports and indicates the process for measurement, and as such would also assist in determining the focus and approach for development (Clark 2012; Ruggeri, Saith Stewart 2006, p.19). In reviewing Oxfam Australia s (Oxfam) Close the Gap campaign, it is necessary to identify the approach that is taken in defining poverty in order to gauge the scope of the project, the development of the approach used, and to quantify the change that occurs. Oxfam itself has identified Close the Gap as a human rights campaign that aims to close the life expectancy health gap of 10 17 years for Aboriginal and Torres Strait within a generation (Holland 2014, p.46). Vizard in her exploration of Sen s capability approach (2005, p.24), emphasises the marriage of capabilities with human rights, citing poverty as one of the key exclusions to fundamental freedoms and human rights, thus expanding the definition of poverty into a multidimensional one. Health is one of the dimensions included in the rights approach, which suggests that the abuses of human rights result in poverty and are also a result of poverty (OHCHR 2006, p.16).
