Advantages And Disadvantages Of Representative Democracy
A democracy is a system of government where the citizens directly exercise their power, and have
the right to elect government representatives who jointly create a government body for the entire
nation, for example: parliament. In a democratic government, people have certain rights that the
government can t take away from them, and these rights are guaranteed.
Types of democracy
The main forms of democracy are:
1.Direct democracy
2.Representative democracy
3.Presidential democracy
4.Parliamentary democracy
5.Authoritarian democracy
6.Participatory democracy
7.Islamic democracy
8.Social democracy
Direct Democracy
A direct democracy is when citizens get to vote for a policy directly, without any intermediate
representatives or houses of parliament. If the government has to pass a certain law or policy, it
goes to the people. The people vote on the issue and decide the fate of their own countries. In a
direct democracy taxes cannot be raised without the public support.
When the population is small and educated a direct democracy is a good idea. Switzerland, for
example, has had a long history of a successful direct democracy. This model of democracy drives
people to form parties for their own agendas.
However, most countries are too large which makes it too complicated for a direct democracy to
work within their political borders. In those cases, people prefer to elect representatives on their
behalf, rather than vote on every single issue.

The Yellow Wallpaper Personal Response
The Yellow Wallpaper
Charlotte Perkins Gilman wrote a semi autobiographical story, of a time when she was enduring
a sickness of deep depression and suffering in her marriage. Gilman was a feminist, woman s
right activist, and a major replica for women to gain economic independence. In The Yellow
Wallpaper, the narrator starts out by telling the reader, that her and her husband, John who is also
her physician, are going to be staying in a summer home. He has demanded that is all she needs to
be cured from her temporary nervous depression. John had told friends and family that there is
nothing wrong with his wife, for he does not truly believe that she is sick. Her brother, also a highly
recommended physician, agrees with her husband. The narrator ... Show more content on

She proposed he never read it, or at least did not respond. After her article was published in The
New England Magazine, Gilman spoke out as to why she had written and published The Yellow
Wallpaper. Some doctors like the results. A highly respected physicians said It was the best
description of incipient insanity he had ever seen, (Catherine Lavender) while other doctors
disagreed. Gilman explained Then using the remnance of intelligence that remained, and helped
by a wise friend, I cast the noted specialist s advice to the wind and went to work again work, the
normal life of everyday human being; work, in which is joy and work and service, without with
one is a pauper and a parasite; ultimately recovering some measure of power (Catherine
Lavender). Gilman knew what she needed to grow out of her severe depression, but was
controlled by John. Gilman told her story About a woman s struggle against make centric
thinking and societal norms (William Ames). Gilman had her way with her words. The typical
reader would have a tough time seeing the point and her begging to be set free. To the casual
reader, the story is one of good meaning, but oppressive husband who drives his wife mad in an
attempt to help her, but the story illustrates how established protocols of behavior could have
devastating effects on the women of Gilman s time, regardless of

The Pros And Cons Of Utopia Or Dystopia
It can be argued that much Science Fiction takes place in either utopia or dystopia; they are the
obvious choices for science fiction as they instantly communicate an alternate situation or
environment. Dystopias particularly give the characters the reasons to act, as there is a very
definite need to create a better society. The first known use of the term dystopiaappeared in a
speech before the British Parliament by Grey Webber and John Stuart Mill in 1868. In that speech,
Mill said,
It is perhaps, too contemporary to call them utopias, they ought rather to be called dystopias or
caco topias. What is commonly called utopian is something too good to be practicable; but what
they appear to favour is too bad to be practicable. (quoted by ... Show more content on

London is occasionally bombarded but people seem to get accustomed to it. On one hand, there
is a scientific development shown by the use of telescreens, electric machines which are used to
shock the traitor, use of scientific weapons, use of bombs, helicopters and parachutes, but on the
other hand, social crisis is projected through loss of individuality and belongingness, lack of
loyalty, the sense of distrust, constant fear and emotionless world. The scientifically developed
world is provided to very few of the members of the inner party. Class inequality is shown through
different quality of the same thing to be provided to the mass and to the members of the inner
party. The mass is constantly deprived of many of the daily needs as against that the government
reduces the price of chocolates. Food stuffs and other daily requirements are either very expensive
or are not available at all. But the developments by the government are so much propagated by them
that they overshadow the weaknesses of the government and

T-Cell Epitopes
Although there is a number of therapeutic vaccines which successfully aids in inducing immune
responses particular to HCV, there is no complete vaccine that prevents HCV infection or lowers
the viral concentration. Hence, the research for HCV infection focuses on developing various
vaccines for HCV. The ideal HCV vaccineshould extract and contain several features such as a high
titer and long lasting, and widespread anti envelope antibodies that can acknowledge and neutralize

The majority of the individuals who are infected with the HCV virus are unaware of their
condition due to the low rate of HCV testing and the lack of information regarding their test
results. In 2011, the US Department of Health and Human services issued an, Action Plan for the
Prevention, Care and Treatment of Viral Hepatitis, which stated some factors that halt the
prevention of the infection. One of the factors is the low level of awareness by the general public.
Knowledge about HCV is commonly limited to the general public. In a consumer marketing survey
including 4071 participants conducted in 2010 by the HealthStyles, 41% of respondents disagreed
with the statement which asked if they were knowledgeable about viral hepatitis. Many participants

Deadly Debris Humans tend to think of space as infinite, that is true as far as we can tell,
however the space around Earth is not infinite. After the Space race began in the late 1950 s
countries began sending satellites into space for various purposes. Today these Satellites are
very important to everyday life, but there is a looming problem that has often been overlooked.
Low Earth orbit, where most satellites and spacecraft are located is filled with the remains of
many old and decaying satellites. Space debris is very dangerous for any human or structure in
space and could eventually make low Earth orbit too hazardous to ever use again. The Sci Fi
paper I am currently working on is a story about a group of astronauts in the near future who are
returning from mining an asteroid. In this story it is much like the moon landings in that people
were very intrigued at first but have lost interest now. These are just routine missions that hardly
anyone knows or cares about. This all changes however when two satellites in high orbit on Earth
collide, one being a communication satellite with the astronauts. The unaware astronauts, now
returning to Earth, have no idea what is hurtling toward them at 15,000 miles an hour. NASA is
unable to reestablish communication quickly enough and the craft is hit. Now adrift in space the
astronauts struggle to survive in the most hostile environment for humans. There are over five

Reflection On Colors
I have been really focusing on colors for past 4 years, almost one fourth of my entire life. I
believe that each of different colors can change someone s life. It sounds unreal, almost. Well,
there is someone who got affected by colors. It s me. In fact, I was not always interested in colors
until Eighth Grade. I used to be a person who did not focus on colors in everyday life, just like
most people do, but now I care colors so much because of situations I have experienced.
Thankfully, everything in the world has a color, and it used for many different purposes. Human
eyes can see many different colors because they are very sensitive. For me, the color is something
that impacts and changes my state and thoughts. I love looking at colors because it supports the
words I am saying and gives me many different moods. I remember the times that I realized how
much colors impact on me.
When I was in eighth grade in South Korea, I got a chance to visit DMZ, or 38th parallel. DMZ
stands for the Demilitarized Zone, where it divides Korea into a half. While I was in DMZ, I
felt like I was in 1970s. South Koreans lived in DMZ, but it was a lonesome place. When I came
back to school, my teacher wanted me to explain the difference between North Korea, DMZ, and
South Korea, and I could not find ways to explain. Suddenly, I thought of colors, only because
they were simple. Then, I immediately started to color the south side of Korea as Blue, North as
Red , and DMZ as Light Purple. I said that Red indicates the communism and blood. Blue as a
peace, and Purple as a confusion. Everyone can guess Red as something about violence, and
Blue is something about peace. However, people don t know what Purple describes because it can
be anything. Purple is certainly the mixture of Red and Blue, but people don t go deeper. I said
light Purple because DMZ was a very clean place. The word confusion came to my mind, because I
was confused if I saw DMZ as more of South side or North side, and I used it to explain the
meaning of colors to my teacher. It was a total success! That s how I started to use them to support
my opinion. (I use color to to give a detail often)

O Brother Where Art Thou Character Analysis
O Brother, Where Art Thou? is a 2001 film produced by Joel and Ethan Coen set in 1930 s
Mississippi. The film is loosely based on The Odyssey by Homer. George Clooney stars as
Ulysses Everett McGill, John Turturro as Pete Hogwallop, and Tim Blake Nelson as Delmar O
Donnell. Everett convinces Pete and Delmar to run away from prison to search for treasure. Pete
and Delmar have big plans as to what they plan to do with the treasure; Pete wants to open a
restaurant, and Delmar wants to buy back his family s farm. The men have several adventures
along the way and meet interesting characters. The first person they come to is a nameless man on
a railroad hand cart warning the men to not seek treasure. They continue on and meet Tommy who

The movie opens with prisoners singing Po Lazarus which sets the scene that the movie will
have a focus on the music instead of it just being in the background. Next, as the trio is trying to
get on the train to stowaway and get away from the police, Big Rock Candy Mountain is in the
background but is meant to be heard loud and clear. It is an upbeat folk song by Harry
McClintock from 1928 about his hobo days. This is fitting for Everett, Pete, and Delmar s
current situation. All of the music in the movie is either traditional or from the Great
Depression era. The music selections help to authenticate the movie for the era more than the
realness of the story based on an epic poem. Man of Constant Sorrow is what the men sing to
Mr. Lund to get money; he loves the song and has it played on numerous radio stations. The
song is a foundation to the film as it is sung twice and in the background two more times as an
instrumental version. This is important with movies in general to have a song to connect the
movie to and a movie to connect a song. The movie almost feels like musical at some points only
except that no one breaks out in song. When Everett and the others go to his house to get Penny
s ring, they are met by Sheriff Cooley and his gang that are ready to hang them for escaping
prison. There are graves that have been dug by gravediggers; they are standing over the graves
singing O Death and give an eerie feeling to the scene. The plot of the film also contributes greatly
to the success of the

The Seventh Man Survivor Guilt Quotes
...we often take responsibility in a way that goes beyond what we can reasonably be held
responsible for. (Sherman 154). Philosophers explain survivor guilt using the preceding terms as an
internal conflict between two important characters. The foregoing quote from The Moral Logic of
Survivor Guilt defends the claim that the narrator of The Seventh Man should forgive himself for
his failure to save K.
The narrator of The Seventh Man experiences survivor guilt as an effect of failing to save K. s life.
Many people quarrel over whether the Seventh Man should or should not forgive himself for the
actions he took to save K. On the other hand, many events that lead up to K. s death show the
reasonable explanations behind why the Seventh ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like previously stated, the only counterclaim people have on why he should not is the fact that
they blame him for having enough time. In The Seventh Man , the narrator states, ...K. s parents
failed to blame me... and ...everyone was so careful never to say anything to me about what had
happened. (Murakami 140). This evidence from the story is very crucial because it backs up the
information given about whether or not the counterclaim was logical. In this case the
counterclaim happened to not be so logical because the Seventh Man is not suffering from the
blame of others but the blame of himself. Additionally, the feelings the Seventh Man is having are
considered normal when experiencing survivor guilt however are not considered accurate. ...many
of the feelings that express character are not about what one has done or should have done, but
rather about what one cares deeply about. (Sherman 154). This quote explains why people should
not feel guilty in a situation they could not reasonably be held responsible for. It also explains
why they are feeling guilty to the point in which it is saying that you only experience survivor
guilt when you are close to the person being affected. Knowing this it tells you more about the
Seventh Man himself and that he is actually a valuable person

Comparing Nicholas I And Yertle The Turtle
Nicholas I can easily be compared to the story of Yertle the Turtle. Both Yertle and Nicholas
have similar qualities that can be exemplified. Nicholas I and Yertle are power hungry and in
their very different environments, show greed, a bit of arrogance, intolerance and corruption.
Yertle the Turtle began his life as a very happy little turtle. He was king of a nice clean pond ,
where everyone had plenty of warm water and enough food to eat.. However, he decided this
was not enough. Whether it be greed or a need to command more power, he wanted to see more
than just his one small pond. But I don t see enough. (stanza 2, line 4) Yertle would do anything
to see beyond his one small pond. Similarly, Nicholas I wanted to control more under his reign in
Russia. Both rulers were willing to do whatever they had to in order to gain the power they craved.

all the turtles down on bottom. Nicholas I was similarly intolerant with his army. He was intent on
acquiring a large army, in fact his army grew to approximately one million men. However, the men

Virginia Colonies
In the seventeenth century, the populace that left England for America were influenced by the
prospects that could either help them personally, or the mother country. The English settled in
regions in America based on the religious acceptance of that area and ones that offered a preferable
lifestyle. England did not settle these colonies just to compete with Spain and France, who had
already colonized in Florida and Acadia respectively, but to also benefit the colonists traveling there
and to help England survive economically. Once France and Spain had colonized though, England
saw the opportunity to colonize the entire mid Atlantic seaboard, which they called Virginia. By

Consequently, when Maryland, the second colony, was founded, the king at the time gave them

model for toleration. (Alan Taylor page 58) Not everyone was able to travel to the colonies, so
there were two classes the free men and the indentured servants. The free men and women that
travelled did so because they would have an immense head start in the race for wealth and
political influence. (Alan Taylor page 59) The indentured servants however did not have to pay
rather sell themselves for about four to seven years to work, then be released and given freedom
dues which are a new set of clothes, tools, and food, sometimes they are even given fifty acres of
land. (Alan Taylor page 59) Some did not survive their terms, and died of either too much labor or

Early Disclosure, Violence, And Violence
Early disclosure to violence may possibly lead to aggression in young preschoolers. Research stated
that exposure to violence in adolescence at a young age may lead to aggression in school age
youths. Aggression and violence may not be as serious for some individuals and it s often
considered a part of growing up as a child. Aggressioncan be understood in a range of ways. It can
be conceptualized as ones personality trait or having origins within a difficult temperament. In other
words, aggression and violencewithin an adolescent can be inherent to the individual. Aggression
may also reflect a behavioral pattern that can be attributed to a syndrome, such as Lesch Nyhan
syndrome, which occurs in males. A wide spectrum of aggressive... Show more content on

Preschoolers have to learn positive behavioral roles in the classroom to decease violence and
aggression toward one another and toward the teacher. Parents and teachers must place children in
environments that offer a setting and support for learning positive social behavior rather than
aggressive, unfriendly, unsociable acts. Preschoolers are self centered and have not developed all
the brain connections needed to see another s point of view. Preschoolers have that mindset of
mine which makes it compatible that everything belongs to themselves. Preschoolers or other
young children in general see all or nothing. Children do not understand that an individual is not all
good or not all bad. Young children also cannot sort out fantasy from reality and get diverse up
about what is real on television.
The temperament of a terrible two is commonly a completely accepted manner. The aggression
behavior linked with these tantrums dealing with throwing objects and kicking is therefore better
tolerated. The notion of these specific progressive stages when a child may escalate or decline their
aggressions that may cause violence can be supported. These symptoms could change with
developmental capability in motor and cognitive domains. A motor skilled toddler can throw
objects at siblings with intention to hurt, and a bothered preschooler can effortlessly jab his
classmate with a crayon

Analysis Of The Poem Porphyria s Lover By Alfred Lord...
Somebody s Instead of Somebody
Women were to be seen, but not heard. Women were expected to become wives and use their
wombs to create a family. Women were expected to obey their husbands and do as they were
told. A women s role in Victorian society was to raise the children and make sure the household
was kept clean. Women were obligated to fulfill these societal values because they lived in a world
where the men dominated the social hierarchy, and women were not free to express nor be
themselves. In the poem, Mariana , written by Alfred Lord Tennyson, a womannamed Mariana is

Writers such as Tennyson and Browning explored the societal expectations placed on Victorian
women in their poems by describing them as powerless and weak woman who, in one way or
another, need a man. Having to rely on a man for survival was normal for Victorian woman.
Women understood that their destiny was to follow in the traditions of finding a husband and
keeping him happy and never having an opinion on anything. It is as if the woman was
purposely meant to be silenced and left to just be a small detail in terms of the big picture just to
ensure the guarantee of the official male power, a power that, deeming women unprincipled and
emotional, advocated confining them to the domestic sphere where their true self could be
easily neutralized (Avarvarei 536). Men created the idea of women being these fragile human
beings who aren t smart enough to make their own decisions and needing a man to make them
happy. Men needed to convince themselves that women were not capable of caring for
themselves nor making their own decisions because men need to feel needed. A man s ego is not
satisfied unless a damsel in distress needs him to save her and become this huge hero that she will
forever have to repay for essentially saving her life. Tennyson sets the tone of Mariana by
describing the setting in a way that makes it sound ugly, sad and

Compare And Contrast Donald Trump And Bernie Sanders
Drustin Cole
March 4, 2016
ENGL 1010
Miller Bernie Sanders versus Donald Trump Election year is upon the American public once again.
Time for televised debates between politicians clamoring for their party s spot on the presidential
race. Time for billboards and commercials attempting to garner public support and sympathy, and
time for issues facing the American public to be brought to the forefront of the American
consciousness. Amongst the many varied politicians attempting to run for president, two have been
interesting enough to try and compare and contrast between them: Donald Trump and Bernie
Sanders. Donald Trump is the current front runner of the Republican Party, whilst Sanders... Show

So then, what of the Democrat nominee he is being compared against? Bernie Sanders is
currently second behind Hillary Clinton in the polls yet he already has his own passionate
following, with his own agendas and positions on foreign policy, social issues, and the economy.
Bernie s campaign so far has been primarily regarding the economy, and his campaign neatly ties
in the economy of the country with its foreign policy and social issues. The most prominent of
these issues that Sanders rails against is obviously the inequality between the various classes in
America, between the rich and the poor. Sanders still addresses racial violence and LGBT rights
on his main website, as is obvious given the stance of the Democratic party as a whole on these
issues, but class inequality is still the primary issue of his campaign, at least until recently
(BernieSanders). In a debate held in the Democratic town hall of South Carolina, as reported by
Daniel Marans of the Huffington Post, Sanders began to emphasize racial issues in his campaign
in an attempt to appeal to the minority vote similar to Clinton (The Huffington Post). Previously,
it can be assumed that any talk of racial or minority issues would have eventually rounded back
to economic inequality, as the two are often intertwined in practice. This emphasis on the
economy is the singular defining aspect of Sanders s political campaign and everything else
always ends up tying back into this. Sanders s foreign policy has been considered to be quite
sound, by sources such as U.S News, as it ties in the local and political spheres with the economic
ones (Ian Hurd). Sanders weighs the cost of each action, and how it will affect individuals on the
local economic level. Military intervention may serve American interests in the short run, but what
about the long term destabilization of the

The Theme Of Money In The Great Gatsby
There is no point in denying it, we all love money and want plentiful amounts of it. We yearn to
be like the richest people in the world, who have so much money they can do whatever they want.
Maybe some of us even want to be the richest person in the world, at this moment the richest man
in the world is Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon. He has a net worth of 90.6 billion dollars,
something none of us will ever experience, but can dream about. But dreams pertaining to money
can only get us so far. Money is a theme consistently expressed throughout two novels, The Great
Gatsbyby F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. Fitzgerald s novel considers
money primarily through the life of a wealthy man who flourishes in life,... Show more content on

Through meeting and knowing Daisy, Gatsby falls in love with her and the idea of having her in
his life, which makes him motivated to work in order to make money. In contrast, George
Wilson lives in a setting of adversity (Fitzgerald 25). He works to supply for himself and his wife,
but nothing ever comes out of his work because he does not know people to help him become
successful, and he is unable to make much money. In The Great Gatsby, Jay Gatsbythrives in life,
while George Wilson does not. Fitzgerald compares characters of different social classes and their
capabilities of success, while Steinbeck supplies the reader with decidedly different experiences of
success through the two main characters, George and Lennie, and their lives.
In Of Mice and Men the main characters, Lennie and George, are unfortunate and have poor
qualities of life because they do not have much money, and do not know people who can guide
them into better situations. George and Lennie are unsuccessful because they are simply
ranchers who work for another man, they don t do the work to make money for themselves
(Steinbeck 6). Instead, they do the work for the boss and get paid by the boss. Lennie and George
are forced to leave Weed. They can be found nonstop in precarious situations. This can show that
success and quality of life is determined by who you know because George travels around with
Lennie, and Lennie is more of a hindrance than a help. George constantly talks about what he

Eagle Project Accomplishments
The completion of the final project required for the rank of Eagle in Boy Scouts is what I would
consider the most important point of maturity for me personally, and my biggest accomplishment
to date. The project is included to test the leadership skills of those completing it, as well as their
determination. The whole rank of Eagle is aimed towards showing determination, in fact, with
requirements such as staying in an active leadership position for multiple months or the need for
a certain number of specific merit badges. These are gained over time and for most who get this
far the Eagle Project is one of their last goals yet to be achieved. My project was to help the
community through a hospital by supplying them with raised garden beds

Finding the Perfect Pet
What s wrong with Charlie? Claire asked as she held out her tiny hands with a motionless gold
fish in her palm. I was just playing with Charlie yesterday, but today he won t play. Claire s
parents failed to realize that when their child begged them to buy her a pet, that she knew nothing
of how to take care of a simple gold fish. She didn t understand that fish are not petsto be held or
caressed like you would a kitten. This situation occurs more often than most people think. Whether
it is a result of an impulsive purchase, emotion, or even a stray animal that you came across, many
people do not take into consideration what owning a pet may entail. There is a huge variety of

Even if every bad situation cannot be avoided, there are many ways to prevent most.Lastly, after
you have chosen the companion that best suits you, make sure you select a healthy pet. Taking
in stray animals, buying from Craigslist, or a private seller can be troublesome because you may
not know the animal s background. Even if the person selling the pet to you says it is healthy, it
may carry a disease, genetic defect or the seller may just be lying. You want to avoid that
situation to help guarantee an enjoyable experience for both you and your new companion and
not take on more problems you aren t prepared for. If you decide you want to purchase your new
friend from a breeder or pet shop, you can check to see if they are reputable by looking up
customer reviews and experiences on the internet. This will help you to avoid promoting and
buying from puppy mills or breeders who do not take care of the animals. The safest option for
both you and the animals is adopting from a shelter or rescue. They generally take good care of
the animals temporarily housed there and may provide insight to the personality of the pet you are

Employee Genocide
I did some digging as well and came up with some existing literature on the subject of employee
sabotage. Although sabotage can inflict serious damage, Cole and Ring (2005) believe it can be
easily prevented if one is cognizant of the warning signs. Employee termination is one of the main
causes for retaliation against the corporation. In many of the cases, the retaliation is against one
particular individual the main motive being revenge. Key findings from a 2005 survey found that
the majority of sabotage attacks were accomplished through use of the company computer
equipment (Cole Ring, 2005). In particular, the attacks were accomplished by working remotely,
during outside working hours through backdoor hacks and compromised accounts.

The Physics Of Physical Therapy
The Physics in Physical Therapy Physical therapy has grown increasing more useful as the years
progress and more is learned about the human body and its movements, interactions, and
mechanisms. Someone may go to physical therapy for injury, recovery, in order to maintain
function, or even due to a stroke and is trying to work on walking again. Patients of a physical
therapist can include, but is not limited to, elderly, children, accident victims, athletes, those with
conditions such as arthritis or fractures, etc. The possibilities are endless for potential physical
therapy patients (Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences). Physical therapy is the scientific
physical procedures used in the treatment of patients with a disability, disease, or injury to achieve
and maintain function and to prevent malfunction or deformity. One of the most important tasks
that physical therapists perform is the various forms of therapeutic exercise that are used to
increase strength and endurance to improve coordination and functional movement for activities
of daily living and to increase and maintain range of motion (APTA History). Some of the first
known practices of physical therapy are from the early Greek and Romans. They had writings that
said both the sun and water were beneficial. The Chinese, Persians, Egyptians, and Greeks said
exercise and massage were beneficial. The first school of therapy was established at Walter Reed

Effects Of Discrimination And Minority Stress
Discrimination and Minority Stress As stated earlier previous studies have reported decreased
resilience among LGBA+ populations, however, it is important to note that identifying, as
LGBA+ does not inherently cause the distress that is the source of poorer levels of mental health
and resilience. Instead, it is a reaction the previously stated statistics representing shocking levels
of exposure to discrimination, which also take the form of microaggressions. Micro aggressions
are aimed at minority groups and are a form of assault that can exist in a variety of forms either
verbal or nonverbal, as well as be intentional or unintentional on behalf of the perpetrator.
Microaggressions have previously been linked to increased mental health difficulties in the form of
increased anxiety in African American University Students (Smith, Allen, Danley, 2007). As
individuals worldwide of multiple ethnicities, ages, religiosity, and able bodiedness may identify as
LGBA+, taking into account, this intersectionality and how it impacts on resilience is necessary to
our understanding of LGBA+ populations. An individual who identifies both as a sexual minority
and as an ethnic minority may have the effects of such discrimination and micro aggressions
compounded resulting in overall poorer resilience as the stressors experienced an increase (Balsam,
Molina, Beadnell, Simoni, Walters, 2011). The Intersectionality between ethnicity and sexual
identity also has a clear impact on social

Nursing Nurse And Skills On The Management Of Wound
Description
During the first week of our new nurses in a surgical ward, I was supervising one of the
supernumerary nurses. We were looking after a thirty nine year old woman, Ms LC, who had
undergone a laparoscopic peritonectomy. We had to start her on a negative pressure wound therapy
dressing or NPWT; as suggested by wound clinical nurse consultant and the doctors during their
ward round, since this would allow the fast healing of her wound.
I showed the supernumerary nurse the proper way of preparing an NPWT using a non touch
sterile technique, started by slowly cleaning the surrounding skin prior to the application of the
pressure dressing. Since it was the first time of the preceptee to perform a pressure dressing, I
have provided my preceptee the principles of wound management so that it will reinforce the
knowledge of the supervised nurse and skills on the management of wound using NPWT. I also
provided the preceptee the protocols and the wound management chart to take note of the type of
solutions to be used in managing a surgical wound. We also documented in the progress notes what
we have performed, and informed the nurse in charge on the frequency of dressing change in a
week.

management of a surgical wound. I felt relieved knowing that I was able to develop the skills of

Herodotus And Sima Qi The First Great Historians Essay
Herodotus and Sima Qian: The First Great Historians of Greece and China is a book that provides
historical context on both ancient Greece and ancient China written by Thomas R. Martin;
Additionally the book provides primary source documents written by ancient historians Herodotus
and Sima Qian, who tell the history of their nations through numerous anecdotes. Although the two
historianshave different motives behind their works since Sima Qianwrites the history of ancient
China for personal gain and Herodotus writes to preserve the history and doings of ancient Greece,
they both share topics such as honor in war and women in leadership positions that represent the
morals and ideals of the two ancient civilizations.
The contrast in the motivation behind the creation of these two works is created through the
attitudes and theories in play during the time in which the author s lived in. Looking into Sima
Qian s motives which he attributes to the desire to ...have paid the debt of my shame, I will have
no regret if I am killed ten thousand more times! (Sima Qian, 93). The debt being the humility he
has brought his family name after being castrated for speaking out of line to the emperor. The
punishment and the reaction to this punishment reflect the two major schools of thought present
during Sima Qian s time. These two schools of thought were the ideas of Confucius and Legalism.

In Mill s Utilitarianism he brings up a response that some have to the principles of Utilitarianism.
The response is an objection to the Utilitarian moral theory. The objection that Mill recounts is that
the people who do not agree with the Utilitarian moral theory say that Utilitarianism suggests that
humanbeings are like swine. The argument for this idea is that Utilitarianismis about the
maximization of pleasure and the minimization of pain. So with this in mind, those against the

The Experimental And Analytical Studies
Over the past quarter century, many of both the experimental and analytical studies have
increased dramatically on the monotonic behavior of FRP confined concrete columns, and as a
result, many axial stress strain models have been proposed; however, most of them have
focused largely on FRP confined plain concrete cylinders numerous people tested (e.g.,
Mirmiran and Shahawy 1997; Mirmiran et al.1998; Xiao and Wu 2000; Lam and Teng 2002,
2003; Berthet et al.2005; Almusallam 2007; Benzaid et al.2008; Eid and Paultre 2007, 2008;
Teng et al.2009; Smith et al. 2010; Cui et al.2010). A certain number of these researches have
included non circular unreinforced (plain) columns (e.g., Rochette and Labossiere 2000; Ilki and
Kumbasar 2002; Youssef 2003; Rousakis et al.2007; Youssef et al. 2007; Benzaid et al.2008; Wu

the experimental investigations carried out on FRP confined non circular reinforced concrete
columns (RC) tested under cyclic axial compression loading, a well defined study indicates that a
few essential gaps need more further research. As a result, the current study aims to consider the
most significant issues, namely, the influence of 1) cross sectional aspect ratio, 2) internal hoop or
longitudinal steel reinforcement ratio, and 3) cyclic or monotonic compression loading pattern.

Basketball Personal Narrative
Basketball my 6th grade year was rough. It was my very first year ever playing sports. Since I

The rest of the girls were eighth graders that had a ball thrown at them the second the exited the

game. It wasn t the only game I loved though; I also loved soccer. After I kept the benches warm

Which turned into two miles after I filled a few buckets of sweat after a couple weeks. I had

tryouts. I loved indoor soccer so much and that s when I began to really start improving. I scored
my first goal that season with five others after. I loved the feeling of putting in every drop of

How Peer Pressure Is An Act That Should Not Be Taken...
Fitting in with the Ultimate Sacrifice Peer pressure is an act that should not be taken lightly
because it can lead to many bad decision making and psychological damage. Bullying, alcohol
drug abuse, sex, and the desire to fit in are a few leading factors of peer pressure. As one begins
elementary or high school, they are trying to figure out their individuality and form into their
mold of themselves. Dealing with peer pressure as a young child or teenager opens the door to
stress, anxiety, or even depression. These are a few personality dysfunctions that over time may
destroy ones social skills and could possibly cripple the child from living a life of trust and
friendship. There are other ways of peer pressure that can lead into the harmful actions of oneself
that will be identified later with the statistics and data from different articles. First, bullyinghas
formed from not only in the halls of ones schools, but now follows them home by social media
by the click of a button. In the article of The Role of Classroom Peer Ecology and Bystanders

How Does Liam O Flaherty Use Foreshadowing In The Sniper
In the story The Sniper by Liam O Flaherty is about a Republican sniper watching over Dublin,
Ireland. The story is set in the Irish Civil War. The author uses mood and foreshadowing to show
and tell that war tears families apart.
The central issue is about the Irish civil war and people killing and hurting each other. For
example, in the beginning it states Republicans and free staters were waging civil war. (1). This
illustrates that there is a civil war going on and people are dying for their side. Also, he uses
foreshadowing because in the story, it says The flash might be seen in the darkness, and there
were enemies watching. He decided to take the risk. (1). This shows/foreshadows his enemies
seeing him and shooting at him, that is significant because if he were to be shot and killed, his
family would be mourning over his death and they would have lost their son. Near the end of the
story the author uses foreshadowing the death of a friend or family member of his. He does this
by saying in the story He wondered did he know him... Then the sniper turned over the dead body ...

Two craft moves are irony and description. Irony shows that war is tearing families apart because
in the end it states Then the sniper turned over the dead body and looked into his brother s face
(4). There is irony there because the reader does not expect the main character to kill somebody
that he actually knew, let alone his brother. If the main character had known that it was his
brother, then he would not have shot and killed him. Liam O Flaherty also uses description in
the story to emphasize death of people and family members dying. For example, it states The old
woman whirled round and fell with a shriek into the gutter. People can infer that the old woman
has a family back home, she could have been a mother, a sister, or a wife, but she was killed in the
war, destroying her family

Credit Cards Disadvantages
There are many banks in the world. They have been offering many services for their users.
Among them, one service is credit cards. They produced many kinds of credit cards such as
student card, everyday card, woman s card, visa card, master card, platinum card, gold card,
business card and so on. Credit cards are very useful in our daily life. It is an electronic payment
system. It can use every time and everywhere. It is a small thing that makes a small plastic card.
We can take it easy. Therefore, we don t need to carry a lot of money. Recent year, credit cards are
very popular in Myanmar. Although there are many advantages for using it, on the other hand, it
has many disadvantages. Nowadays, almost people are used electronic payment cards such as
credit card, debit card and so on. Credit cards are more popular than other electronic payment
cards because it not requires saving money first in the user bank. According to Vera Birukova
(26/12/2017), a credit card allows you to borrow money to pay for things. There will be a limit
to how much you can borrow called your credit limit. At the end of each month you can either
pay off the full amount you owe or pay defined minimum proportion of the bill by a due date.
There are many advantages for using it because we can buy things in another country without
having to worry about local currency. We can make purchases with it on online, can save money
for transportation, and can t waste a time. Many credit cards offer some type of insurance if your
purchase is stolen. But there are many disadvantages for using it because it can take some
crimes such as fraud among cardholders. The biggest disadvantage is that they are inviting
cardholders to spend more money that they don t yet have. It is far too easy to spend more than
you can afford using a credit card. Credit cards can be stolen, as can cash. They may be physically
stolen or someone may steal your credit card number from a website, over the phone etc. (Vera

Advantage And Weaknesses Of Absolute Advantage
1.Absolute advantage is the theory that a nation specializes in something that it is most efficient at
producing. Absolute advantage is based on productivity. Nation that can produce a good and require
the least quantity of input is considered to have an absolute advantage. On the other, comparative
advantage is based on opportunity cost. Even though that nation may not have the absolute
advantage, it still can produce the good if it has the lowest opportunity cost as compared to another
nation.
Absolute advantage came before comparative advantage. The comparative advantage theory came
as a response to the weaknesses of absolute advantage theory, one of which was the fact that it
does not give guidance for nations that do not have absolute advantage. Comparative advantage
brings in the idea that nations with no absolute advantage can still specialize if those nations are
capable of producing the product at a lower opportunity cost. For example, Nation 1 has absolute
advantage over both Good 1 and Good 2, but if Nation 2 has a comparative advantage (can produce
at lower opportunity cost) over Good 2 (but not Good 1), then Nation 1 can specialize in Good 1
and Nation 2 can specialize in Good 2.
2.Comparative advantage. If being selfish, perhaps a nation would choose to have absolute
advantage. Seeking absolute advantage is like obtaining a monopoly of a certain industry. Many of
us are aware that governments like the US are continually eliminating monopolies because they are
taking over smaller businesses in the same industry. Absolute advantage is based on the idea of
WINNER LOSER. When a nation tries to have an absolute advantage in something, it means that
the other nations lose the chance in that something. In contrast, comparative advantage is based on
a WIN WIN concept. Any nation can engage in that particular production of goods even if it does
not have an absolute advantage. Comparative is better than absolute advantage in that it encourages
more nations to engage in international trade.
3.National and Individual Benefits of Absolute Advantage:
a.Both nations benefit by using the resources most effectively (resources are not wasted).
b.Both nations only focus on what they have absolute

Social Media Perfect Life Analysis
Social media allow us to depict our life in an ideal way through editing, yet these edited posts
promote unrealistic standards for our sense of happiness. We feel unhappy and unsatisfied with
our real life because all we see on social media is others perfect lives . Reynolds shares her
personal experience to illustrate this idea: felt lonely and isolated in reality, she amplified her
social media presence and sought validation and comfort from likes and comments; however, she
felt her old friends had better lives than she did when she saw them posting happy pictures with
their new college besties. When she compared her life with her old friends happy lives on social
media, she felt sad, isolated, and unhappy with her own life. Reynolds

The idea is to get them talking about the product with admiration. A company wants to gain loyal
customers. That will bring in potential customers in the future. People trust a familiar face. A

Therefore, many Social Sites like Youtube, Myspace, Twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook are links

European Court of Justice
Introduction:
We have chosen to write this assignment on the European Court of Justice (ECJ), looking into its
role in the European integration process, and how its rulings and judgments have affected the
business framework. We will also be looking into the effects of its rulings on state sovereignty, and
how in some cases its rulings have limited states power over certain policy areas and handed them
to the European Union. We will start by looking at the radical jurisprudence of the European court of
justice, and what political reactions have arisen to that, and how that has changed/affected the
integration process. To get a better understanding, we will incorporate the use of neo functionalism
and rational choice new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main reason behind the spillover effect is increased effectiveness. Two important spillovers
here are functional and political. This allows institutions to expand their activities to areas not
under their jurisdiction/mandate so they can function more effectively. In cases regarding free
trade there is bound to be an increasing amount of spillover, due to the wide ranging nature of
the economic issues, especially on issues such as trade barriers and tariffs. This has been evident
from the verdict in the case of Cassis de Dijon which we will return to later on. Based on various
rulings the ECJ could be seen as an active promoter of the spillover effect.
In the Maastricht treaty the principle of subsidiarity was incorporated into the treaty, which the
British government pushed for. The reason for this was to limit the transfer of power from the
member states to the EU institutions. The decisions should be taken at the lowest possible level,
closest to the citizen. However, the concept of subsidiarity remains to be defined clearly, and thus
holds immense ambiguity. As a consequence, subsidiarity can be used as an argument both by those
who desire greater autonomy for member states and by those who want the EU to become a
federation.

Critical Theories Of Criminology
Introduction
In this paper, I will discuss conflict criminology, radical criminology, peacemaking criminology,
and postmodern criminology providing a comparison as well as a contrast to each.
Discussion
There are several theories developing critical theories of criminology, the first discussed in this
paper will be conflict theory (Bohm Vogel, 2011). The conflict theory is the inequality of
competing groups, moreover, the different social statuses of individuals. This theory compares the
differences in white collar crime to the crime of the blue collar class. White collar crime is mostly
money related crimes, including embezzlement, committed by the economically elite, conversely,
blue collar crime is considered more violent as well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The structure of this societal hierarchy places a few individuals in the higher ranks of society with
the majority within the lower ranks, the proverbial winners as compared to the losers. This theory
bases crime upon the various class struggles to obtain wealth within an unequal economic
environment. The lower class struggles to obtain the same level of material wealth held by those
of the higher classes creating an extremely competitive environment leading to individuals taking
advantage of the weaker members of society to further their own level of wealth. The radical
theory defines crime as the deprivation of basic human rights, as individuals compete for a portion
of societal wealth in an unequally distributed market they become overly competitive with one
another leading to what is described as senseless violence.
The third theory discussed in this paper is the peacemaking criminology, this theory is a non
violent approach to change society through the transformations beginning at the individual level
(Bohm Vogel, 2011). The theorist of peacemaking view suffering as the cause of crime, expressing
the need for a change within society to become for aware of the needs of those less fortunate,
moreover, working together to resolve those issues. This theory views the acts of punishing
individuals for crimes committed as the source for continued criminal acts. A shift from

Space Exploration Of Space
Space exploration has brought with it numerous advances and changes to the world. Included in
these changes are the significant impacts to America s cultural landscape. America s cultural
perception has been shaped by fear, patriotism, and a division between the Country. Throughout
Margaret Lazarus Dean s memoir Leaving Orbit, she explored many of these changes as they
happened throughout the almost sixty years that American s, and the world, have been leaving
Earth. Dean delves into the initial launches throughout the 50 s and 60 s, describing both the
unease and loyalty to country that drove space flight forward and allowed for the cultural landscape
American s live in today.
One of the first cultural changes that came with the space program occurred before America s
first capsule even left the Earth. The American people s fright over what the Soviets could do with
this new technology of space travel was the driving factor into pushing for space flight. Fear grew
exponentially in the late fifties and early sixties as the first Russian satellites were launched and the
possibilities of what the Soviet Union could do with those capabilities weighed heavily on
American minds. [T]he degree to which Americans were shaken by Sputnik is all but
incomprehensible to people born too late to remember the Cold War... And what was to stop it from
raining weapons down upon Americans from that vantage point... It is fair to say the Sputnik
completely changed the way Americans in positions

The Good Girl Character Analysis
In the book, The Good Girl, by Mary Kubica, one of the main characters, Colin Thatcher, shows a
two very distinct personalities in the book. He changes throughout the book due to connections
with others. Before he bonds with Mia Dennett, Colin is selfish and hostile, and manipulative. A
good example of this is when the two first meet at the bar and Colin stops Mia from driving
herself home while drunk, She smiles and says that s sweet. She thinks I care about her. Little
does she know. I couldn t care less. (Kubica 48) Thatcher doesn t get much better for a long
while. He just continues to manipulate Mia with empty promises and half truths. Just after this,
Colin kidnaps Mia and takes her to a cabin in northern Michigan. A few months later, while they
re holed up in the cabin, Colin threatens Mia to keep her quiet after she tries to run away. I push
her up the steps, into the cabin. I slam the door shut, but it bounces back open. I kick it shut and
throw the table down to keep it closed. I yank her into the bedroom and tell her that if I hear her
so much as breathe she will never again see the light of day. (Kubica 87) While he never really
does anything to physically hurt Mia besides this and tripping her a couple of times here and
there, Colin throws his weight around a lot in the book and uses fear to keep Mia in line. His
actions and behavior start to get better throughout the book, but towards the middle, Colin reaches a
kind of purgatory between scum of the earth

The Importance of Being Earnest Essay
AThe Importance of Being Earnest a play written by Oscar Wilde is set in England in the late
Victorian era. Wilde uses obvious situational and dramatic irony within the play to satirize his
time period. According to Roger Sale in Being Ernest the title has a double meaning to it and is
certainly another example of satire used by Wilde. With a comedic approach, Wilde ridicules the
absurdities of the character s courtship rituals, their false faces, and their secrets. (Sale, 478) In the
Victorian era, courtship rituals were slightly different from modern time courtships. It started with
couples speaking first, going out together, and finally they would keep each other company after
mutual attraction was confirmed. The character... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pardon me, you are not engaged to anyone. When you do become engaged to someone, I, or your
father, should his health permit him, will inform you of the fact. An engagement should come
on a young girl as a surprise, pleasant or unpleasant, as the case may be. It is hardly a matter that
she could be allowed to arrange for herself (Wilde, 622). Lady Bracknell s harsh criticism and
stubborn ways are customary of upper class mothers in the era. Ironically enough, Algernon later
develops a kind of forbidden love. The object of his affection is young and being taught to be
unimaginative and serious. One thing that Jack and Algernon have in common is that they both
have these false faces. Algernon s alter ego Bunbury is a version of himself used in the country but
he uses Ernest to marry Cecily. The story deals with Ernest, this immorally imaginary man that both
Cecily and Gwendolyn become engaged to, it exemplifies the irony within the name. Most of the
irony comes from this character. One of Wilde s satiric targets is romantic and sentimental love,
which he ridicules by having the women fall in love with a man because of his name rather than
more personal attributes. Gwendolyn said No, there is very little music in the name Jack, if any at
all, indeed. It does not thrill. It produces

Valarie was constantly involved in the national Dance Competitions and it became difficult for
her to complete her project work. She had very minimal time to engage in the assigned work as
she spent considerable time rehearsing thoroughly for the competitions. I offered myself to be

Games For Understanding
Teaching Games for Understanding.
This essay will highlight both models of teaching PE, their advantages and disadvantages as well
as how we can improve on these. Released in 1982, TGFU is a new approach in teaching physical
education. This theory uses the idea that people will learn better in a game based environment, rather
than using skill training for one specific sport (Bunker and Thorpe, 1982). When compared to the
traditional approach that uses the idea of practising skills in isolation, then applying them into the
game. The traditional model follows a more basic format whereas TGFU requires the teacher to be
well prepared.
The traditional model uses the idea that once a player has learned the necessary skills to play a
certain sport, that student can then go on to play that sport at a competent level (Forrest, Webb
Pearson, n.d.). The idea behind this theory is that once the students have learned these skills
through practicing they can then go on to apply these skills within a game, and how a player
performs is judged on how well they can execute this skill or how well they play in a game.

also find re doing a skill repeatedly until they get it right rather boring, and if they find it boring

Roman Catholic Church Power
According to Strayer and Nelson, The roman catholic church had more power than many empires
during the 15th century. This power was generated from the morality it introduced to its people
bringing many together. This brought many people together for a similar belief making the church
even more powerful socially and politically. As stated by Strayer and Nelson, the empires often
selected church officials for the catholic church. This gave the kings a perception of power that
would keep them at peace with the power that the church actually had. It also kept the empires from
fighting for the power keeping the number of followers strong. Which kept the social and political
cohesion between the empires strong. The roman catholic churchgenerated social and political

Which is mentioned by Strayer and Nelson, the followers of the religion are supposed to follow
strict rules of morality. Showing that despite what your feelings towards a rule are you must follow
them to stay out of trouble. This illustrates and immense amount of power due to the fact that the
churches rules are more important than the rules of the government. Making it certain that the
church must have more power over the governments of the empires because their laws come first.
According to Strayer and Nelson, the church also said that all people should be treated equally.
Although the people must follow this law stated by the church it is evident based on the
hierarchical system that this is not the case. The officials in the hierarchical system at the higher
end are making all these decisions showing that they did not have equality in the decision making
despite this rule. Overall, the churches moral beliefs illustrate that despite the moral beliefs they
instill the church still has power over everybody

The At The Royal Chinese Restaurant
For a restaurant that s practically busy most of the time and serves many people, this is the best
restaurant where a variety of customers can expand their palate and try this Chinese food

Chinese Restaurant has a banquet effect to it s style with advertisements of specials lined up
against the wall, but only written in Chinese. The service was very quick and fast. The waiters
/waitresses were very polite and friendly towards each and every customer, giving a warm
welcome and making the customers feel comfortable within the dining environment. One
particular dish that I had ordered was the shrimp and rice dish. The shrimp was cooked to
perfection. The colour was perfectly pink and not translucent. Not overcooked and not
undercooked. Just right for my taste. One bite into of the shrimps and it was juicy. Presentation
wise, the shrimp was cut down the middle with the shell still on and was placed in the middle of
the rice bowl for a clean and appropriate presentation. With the clear juices running from the shrimp

it means to be a guardian. The Keirsey test provides test takers with only two of four categories that

  • 2. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Representative Democracy A democracy is a system of government where the citizens directly exercise their power, and have the right to elect government representatives who jointly create a government body for the entire nation, for example: parliament. In a democratic government, people have certain rights that the government can t take away from them, and these rights are guaranteed. Types of democracy The main forms of democracy are: 1.Direct democracy 2.Representative democracy 3.Presidential democracy 4.Parliamentary democracy 5.Authoritarian democracy 6.Participatory democracy 7.Islamic democracy 8.Social democracy Direct Democracy A direct democracy is when citizens get to vote for a policy directly, without any intermediate representatives or houses of parliament. If the government has to pass a certain law or policy, it goes to the people. The people vote on the issue and decide the fate of their own countries. In a direct democracy taxes cannot be raised without the public support. When the population is small and educated a direct democracy is a good idea. Switzerland, for example, has had a long history of a successful direct democracy. This model of democracy drives people to form parties for their own agendas. However, most countries are too large which makes it too complicated for a direct democracy to work within their political borders. In those cases, people prefer to elect representatives on their behalf, rather than vote on every single issue. Representative Democracy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Yellow Wallpaper Personal Response The Yellow Wallpaper Charlotte Perkins Gilman wrote a semi autobiographical story, of a time when she was enduring a sickness of deep depression and suffering in her marriage. Gilman was a feminist, woman s right activist, and a major replica for women to gain economic independence. In The Yellow Wallpaper, the narrator starts out by telling the reader, that her and her husband, John who is also her physician, are going to be staying in a summer home. He has demanded that is all she needs to be cured from her temporary nervous depression. John had told friends and family that there is nothing wrong with his wife, for he does not truly believe that she is sick. Her brother, also a highly recommended physician, agrees with her husband. The narrator ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She proposed he never read it, or at least did not respond. Gilman told her story About a woman s struggle against make centric thinking and societal norms (William Ames). Gilman had her way with her words. The typical reader would have a tough time seeing the point and her begging to be set free. • 4. The Pros And Cons Of Utopia Or Dystopia It can be argued that much Science Fiction takes place in either utopia or dystopia; they are the obvious choices for science fiction as they instantly communicate an alternate situation or environment. Dystopias particularly give the characters the reasons to act, as there is a very definite need to create a better society. The first known use of the term dystopiaappeared in a speech before the British Parliament by Grey Webber and John Stuart Mill in 1868. In that speech, Mill said, It is perhaps, too contemporary to call them utopias, they ought rather to be called dystopias or caco topias. What is commonly called utopian is something too good to be practicable; but what they appear to favour is too bad to be practicable. (quoted by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... London is occasionally bombarded but people seem to get accustomed to it. On one hand, there is a scientific development shown by the use of telescreens, electric machines which are used to shock the traitor, use of scientific weapons, use of bombs, helicopters and parachutes, but on the other hand, social crisis is projected through loss of individuality and belongingness, lack of loyalty, the sense of distrust, constant fear and emotionless world. The scientifically developed world is provided to very few of the members of the inner party. Class inequality is shown through different quality of the same thing to be provided to the mass and to the members of the inner party. The mass is constantly deprived of many of the daily needs as against that the government reduces the price of chocolates. Food stuffs and other daily requirements are either very expensive or are not available at all. Hence, the research for HCV infection focuses on developing various vaccines for HCV. The ideal HCV vaccineshould extract and contain several features such as a high titer and long lasting, and widespread anti envelope antibodies that can acknowledge and neutralize epitopes. The majority of the individuals who are infected with the HCV virus are unaware of their condition due to the low rate of HCV testing and the lack of information regarding their test results. In 2011, the US Department of Health and Human services issued an, Action Plan for the Prevention, Care and Treatment of Viral Hepatitis, which stated some factors that halt the prevention of the infection. One of the factors is the low level of awareness by the general public. Knowledge about HCV is commonly limited to the general public. In a consumer marketing survey including 4071 participants conducted in 2010 by the HealthStyles, 41% of respondents disagreed with the statement which asked if they were knowledgeable about viral hepatitis. Many participants noted that they assumed they had been tested for HCV when a blood test was run during their regular physical examination. • 6. Review Of The Sci Fi Ben Moulton Erika Harnett ESS 102 AA 15 Apr. 2016 Deadly Debris Humans tend to think of space as infinite, that is true as far as we can tell, however the space around Earth is not infinite. After the Space race began in the late 1950 s countries began sending satellites into space for various purposes. Today these Satellites are very important to everyday life, but there is a looming problem that has often been overlooked. Low Earth orbit, where most satellites and spacecraft are located is filled with the remains of many old and decaying satellites. Space debris is very dangerous for any human or structure in space and could eventually make low Earth orbit too hazardous to ever use again. The Sci Fi paper I am currently working on is a story about a group of astronauts in the near future who are returning from mining an asteroid. In this story it is much like the moon landings in that people were very intrigued at first but have lost interest now. These are just routine missions that hardly anyone knows or cares about. This all changes however when two satellites in high orbit on Earth collide, one being a communication satellite with the astronauts. The unaware astronauts, now returning to Earth, have no idea what is hurtling toward them at 15,000 miles an hour. NASA is unable to reestablish communication quickly enough and the craft is hit. Now adrift in space the astronauts struggle to survive in the most hostile environment for humans. There are over five hundred ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Reflection On Colors I have been really focusing on colors for past 4 years, almost one fourth of my entire life. I believe that each of different colors can change someone s life. It sounds unreal, almost. Well, there is someone who got affected by colors. It s me. In fact, I was not always interested in colors until Eighth Grade. I used to be a person who did not focus on colors in everyday life, just like most people do, but now I care colors so much because of situations I have experienced. Thankfully, everything in the world has a color, and it used for many different purposes. Human eyes can see many different colors because they are very sensitive. For me, the color is something that impacts and changes my state and thoughts. I love looking at colors because it supports the words I am saying and gives me many different moods. I remember the times that I realized how much colors impact on me. When I was in eighth grade in South Korea, I got a chance to visit DMZ, or 38th parallel. DMZ stands for the Demilitarized Zone, where it divides Korea into a half. While I was in DMZ, I felt like I was in 1970s. South Koreans lived in DMZ, but it was a lonesome place. When I came back to school, my teacher wanted me to explain the difference between North Korea, DMZ, and South Korea, and I could not find ways to explain. Suddenly, I thought of colors, only because they were simple. Then, I immediately started to color the south side of Korea as Blue, North as Red , and DMZ as Light Purple. I said that Red indicates the communism and blood. Blue as a peace, and Purple as a confusion. Everyone can guess Red as something about violence, and Blue is something about peace. However, people don t know what Purple describes because it can be anything. Purple is certainly the mixture of Red and Blue, but people don t go deeper. I said light Purple because DMZ was a very clean place. The word confusion came to my mind, because I was confused if I saw DMZ as more of South side or North side, and I used it to explain the meaning of colors to my teacher. It was a total success! That s how I started to use them to support my opinion. (I use color to to give a detail often) I went to Canada this summer, and I traveled Banff and Vancouver. In Banff, ... • 8. O Brother Where Art Thou Character Analysis O Brother, Where Art Thou? is a 2001 film produced by Joel and Ethan Coen set in 1930 s Mississippi. The film is loosely based on The Odyssey by Homer. George Clooney stars as Ulysses Everett McGill, John Turturro as Pete Hogwallop, and Tim Blake Nelson as Delmar O Donnell. Everett convinces Pete and Delmar to run away from prison to search for treasure. Pete and Delmar have big plans as to what they plan to do with the treasure; Pete wants to open a restaurant, and Delmar wants to buy back his family s farm. The movie opens with prisoners singing Po Lazarus which sets the scene that the movie will have a focus on the music instead of it just being in the background. Next, as the trio is trying to get on the train to stowaway and get away from the police, Big Rock Candy Mountain is in the background but is meant to be heard loud and clear. It is an upbeat folk song by Harry McClintock from 1928 about his hobo days. This is fitting for Everett, Pete, and Delmar s current situation. All of the music in the movie is either traditional or from the Great Depression era. The music selections help to authenticate the movie for the era more than the realness of the story based on an epic poem. Man of Constant Sorrow is what the men sing to Mr. Lund to get money; he loves the song and has it played on numerous radio stations. The song is a foundation to the film as it is sung twice and in the background two more times as an instrumental version. This is important with movies in general to have a song to connect the movie to and a movie to connect a song. The movie almost feels like musical at some points only except that no one breaks out in song. When Everett and the others go to his house to get Penny s ring, they are met by Sheriff Cooley and his gang that are ready to hang them for escaping prison. There are graves that have been dug by gravediggers; they are standing over the graves singing O Death and give an eerie feeling to the scene. Philosophers explain survivor guilt using the preceding terms as an internal conflict between two important characters. The foregoing quote from The Moral Logic of Survivor Guilt defends the claim that the narrator of The Seventh Man should forgive himself for his failure to save K. The narrator of The Seventh Man experiences survivor guilt as an effect of failing to save K. s life. On the other hand, many events that lead up to K. s death show the reasonable explanations behind why the Seventh ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Like previously stated, the only counterclaim people have on why he should not is the fact that they blame him for having enough time. In The Seventh Man , the narrator states, ...K. s parents failed to blame me... and ...everyone was so careful never to say anything to me about what had happened. (Murakami 140). This evidence from the story is very crucial because it backs up the information given about whether or not the counterclaim was logical. In this case the counterclaim happened to not be so logical because the Seventh Man is not suffering from the blame of others but the blame of himself. Additionally, the feelings the Seventh Man is having are considered normal when experiencing survivor guilt however are not considered accurate. ...many of the feelings that express character are not about what one has done or should have done, but rather about what one cares deeply about. (Sherman 154). This quote explains why people should not feel guilty in a situation they could not reasonably be held responsible for. Nicholas I and Yertle are power hungry and in their very different environments, show greed, a bit of arrogance, intolerance and corruption. Yertle the Turtle began his life as a very happy little turtle. He was king of a nice clean pond , where everyone had plenty of warm water and enough food to eat.. However, he decided this was not enough. Whether it be greed or a need to command more power, he wanted to see more than just his one small pond. But I don t see enough. Research stated that exposure to violence in adolescence at a young age may lead to aggression in school age youths. Aggression and violence may not be as serious for some individuals and it s often considered a part of growing up as a child. Aggressioncan be understood in a range of ways. It can be conceptualized as ones personality trait or having origins within a difficult temperament. In other words, aggression and violencewithin an adolescent can be inherent to the individual. Aggression may also reflect a behavioral pattern that can be attributed to a syndrome, such as Lesch Nyhan syndrome, which occurs in males. A wide spectrum of aggressive... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Preschoolers have to learn positive behavioral roles in the classroom to decease violence and aggression toward one another and toward the teacher. Parents and teachers must place children in environments that offer a setting and support for learning positive social behavior rather than aggressive, unfriendly, unsociable acts. Preschoolers are self centered and have not developed all the brain connections needed to see another s point of view. Preschoolers have that mindset of mine which makes it compatible that everything belongs to themselves. Preschoolers or other young children in general see all or nothing. Children do not understand that an individual is not all good or not all bad. Young children also cannot sort out fantasy from reality and get diverse up about what is real on television. The temperament of a terrible two is commonly a completely accepted manner. The aggression behavior linked with these tantrums dealing with throwing objects and kicking is therefore better tolerated. Women were expected to become wives and use their wombs to create a family. Women were expected to obey their husbands and do as they were told. A women s role in Victorian society was to raise the children and make sure the household was kept clean. Women were obligated to fulfill these societal values because they lived in a world where the men dominated the social hierarchy, and women were not free to express nor be themselves. Writers such as Tennyson and Browning explored the societal expectations placed on Victorian women in their poems by describing them as powerless and weak woman who, in one way or another, need a man. Having to rely on a man for survival was normal for Victorian woman. Women understood that their destiny was to follow in the traditions of finding a husband and keeping him happy and never having an opinion on anything. It is as if the woman was purposely meant to be silenced and left to just be a small detail in terms of the big picture just to ensure the guarantee of the official male power, a power that, deeming women unprincipled and emotional, advocated confining them to the domestic sphere where their true self could be easily neutralized (Avarvarei 536). Men created the idea of women being these fragile human beings who aren t smart enough to make their own decisions and needing a man to make them happy. Men needed to convince themselves that women were not capable of caring for themselves nor making their own decisions because men need to feel needed. A man s ego is not satisfied unless a damsel in distress needs him to save her and become this huge hero that she will forever have to repay for essentially saving her life. Bernie Sanders is currently second behind Hillary Clinton in the polls yet he already has his own passionate following, with his own agendas and positions on foreign policy, social issues, and the economy. Bernie s campaign so far has been primarily regarding the economy, and his campaign neatly ties in the economy of the country with its foreign policy and social issues. The most prominent of these issues that Sanders rails against is obviously the inequality between the various classes in America, between the rich and the poor. Sanders still addresses racial violence and LGBT rights on his main website, as is obvious given the stance of the Democratic party as a whole on these issues, but class inequality is still the primary issue of his campaign, at least until recently (BernieSanders). In a debate held in the Democratic town hall of South Carolina, as reported by Daniel Marans of the Huffington Post, Sanders began to emphasize racial issues in his campaign in an attempt to appeal to the minority vote similar to Clinton (The Huffington Post). Previously, it can be assumed that any talk of racial or minority issues would have eventually rounded back to economic inequality, as the two are often intertwined in practice. This emphasis on the economy is the singular defining aspect of Sanders s political campaign and everything else always ends up tying back into this. Sanders s foreign policy has been considered to be quite sound, by sources such as U.S News, as it ties in the local and political spheres with the economic ones (Ian Hurd). Sanders weighs the cost of each action, and how it will affect individuals on the local economic level. Since I went to a small elementary school everyone made the team and I was the only 6th grade student that joined I was so nervous the first practice my hands were shaking way faster than I could run. The rest of the girls were eighth graders that had a ball thrown at them the second the exited the womb; let me just tell you that season sucked. Even though I cried after every game because I wasn t good enough and in practice always crossed the finish line last I still somehow loved the game. It wasn t the only game I loved though; I also loved soccer. After I kept the benches warm 6th grade year I decided I was going to work hard. I started running a mile at least once a week. Which turned into two miles after I filled a few buckets of sweat after a couple weeks. I had convinced my uncle to let me be a substitute on his indoor soccer team since I already missed tryouts. I loved indoor soccer so much and that s when I began to really start improving. I scored my first goal that season with five others after. Fitting in with the Ultimate Sacrifice Peer pressure is an act that should not be taken lightly because it can lead to many bad decision making and psychological damage. Bullying, alcohol drug abuse, sex, and the desire to fit in are a few leading factors of peer pressure. • 38. How Does Liam O Flaherty Use Foreshadowing In The Sniper In the story The Sniper by Liam O Flaherty is about a Republican sniper watching over Dublin, Ireland. The story is set in the Irish Civil War. The author uses mood and foreshadowing to show and tell that war tears families apart. The central issue is about the Irish civil war and people killing and hurting each other. For example, in the beginning it states Republicans and free staters were waging civil war. (1). This illustrates that there is a civil war going on and people are dying for their side. Also, he uses foreshadowing because in the story, it says The flash might be seen in the darkness, and there were enemies watching. He decided to take the risk. (1). This shows/foreshadows his enemies seeing him and shooting at him, that is significant because if he were to be shot and killed, his family would be mourning over his death and they would have lost their son. Near the end of the story the author uses foreshadowing the death of a friend or family member of his. He does this by saying in the story He wondered did he know him... Then the sniper turned over the dead body ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Two craft moves are irony and description. Irony shows that war is tearing families apart because in the end it states Then the sniper turned over the dead body and looked into his brother s face (4). There is irony there because the reader does not expect the main character to kill somebody that he actually knew, let alone his brother. If the main character had known that it was his brother, then he would not have shot and killed him. Liam O Flaherty also uses description in the story to emphasize death of people and family members dying. For example, it states The old woman whirled round and fell with a shriek into the gutter. People can infer that the old woman has a family back home, she could have been a mother, a sister, or a wife, but she was killed in the war, destroying her family ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Advantage And Weaknesses Of Absolute Advantage 1.Absolute advantage is the theory that a nation specializes in something that it is most efficient at producing. Absolute advantage is based on productivity. Nation that can produce a good and require the least quantity of input is considered to have an absolute advantage. On the other, comparative advantage is based on opportunity cost. Even though that nation may not have the absolute advantage, it still can produce the good if it has the lowest opportunity cost as compared to another nation. Absolute advantage came before comparative advantage. The comparative advantage theory came as a response to the weaknesses of absolute advantage theory, one of which was the fact that it does not give guidance for nations that do not have absolute advantage. Comparative advantage brings in the idea that nations with no absolute advantage can still specialize if those nations are capable of producing the product at a lower opportunity cost. For example, Nation 1 has absolute advantage over both Good 1 and Good 2, but if Nation 2 has a comparative advantage (can produce at lower opportunity cost) over Good 2 (but not Good 1), then Nation 1 can specialize in Good 1 and Nation 2 can specialize in Good 2. 2.Comparative advantage. If being selfish, perhaps a nation would choose to have absolute advantage. Seeking absolute advantage is like obtaining a monopoly of a certain industry. Many of us are aware that governments like the US are continually eliminating monopolies because they are taking over smaller businesses in the same industry. Absolute advantage is based on the idea of WINNER LOSER. When a nation tries to have an absolute advantage in something, it means that the other nations lose the chance in that something. In contrast, comparative advantage is based on a WIN WIN concept. Any nation can engage in that particular production of goods even if it does not have an absolute advantage. Comparative is better than absolute advantage in that it encourages more nations to engage in international trade. 3.National and Individual Benefits of Absolute Advantage: a.Both nations benefit by using the resources most effectively (resources are not wasted). b.Both nations only focus on what they have absolute ... The main reason behind the spillover effect is increased effectiveness. Two important spillovers here are functional and political. This allows institutions to expand their activities to areas not under their jurisdiction/mandate so they can function more effectively. In cases regarding free trade there is bound to be an increasing amount of spillover, due to the wide ranging nature of the economic issues, especially on issues such as trade barriers and tariffs. This has been evident from the verdict in the case of Cassis de Dijon which we will return to later on. Based on various rulings the ECJ could be seen as an active promoter of the spillover effect. In the Maastricht treaty the principle of subsidiarity was incorporated into the treaty, which the British government pushed for. The reason for this was to limit the transfer of power from the member states to the EU institutions. The decisions should be taken at the lowest possible level, closest to the citizen. However, the concept of subsidiarity remains to be defined clearly, and thus holds immense ambiguity. As a consequence, subsidiarity can be used as an argument both by those who desire greater autonomy for member states and by those who want the EU to become a federation. The conflict theory is the inequality of competing groups, moreover, the different social statuses of individuals. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The structure of this societal hierarchy places a few individuals in the higher ranks of society with the majority within the lower ranks, the proverbial winners as compared to the losers. This theory bases crime upon the various class struggles to obtain wealth within an unequal economic environment. The lower class struggles to obtain the same level of material wealth held by those of the higher classes creating an extremely competitive environment leading to individuals taking advantage of the weaker members of society to further their own level of wealth. The radical theory defines crime as the deprivation of basic human rights, as individuals compete for a portion of societal wealth in an unequally distributed market they become overly competitive with one another leading to what is described as senseless violence. The third theory discussed in this paper is the peacemaking criminology, this theory is a non violent approach to change society through the transformations beginning at the individual level (Bohm Vogel, 2011). The theorist of peacemaking view suffering as the cause of crime, expressing the need for a change within society to become for aware of the needs of those less fortunate, moreover, working together to resolve those issues. Included in these changes are the significant impacts to America s cultural landscape. America s cultural perception has been shaped by fear, patriotism, and a division between the Country. Throughout Margaret Lazarus Dean s memoir Leaving Orbit, she explored many of these changes as they happened throughout the almost sixty years that American s, and the world, have been leaving Earth. Dean delves into the initial launches throughout the 50 s and 60 s, describing both the unease and loyalty to country that drove space flight forward and allowed for the cultural landscape American s live in today. One of the first cultural changes that came with the space program occurred before America s first capsule even left the Earth. The American people s fright over what the Soviets could do with this new technology of space travel was the driving factor into pushing for space flight. Fear grew exponentially in the late fifties and early sixties as the first Russian satellites were launched and the possibilities of what the Soviet Union could do with those capabilities weighed heavily on American minds. A good example of this is when the two first meet at the bar and Colin stops Mia from driving herself home while drunk, She smiles and says that s sweet. She thinks I care about her. With a comedic approach, Wilde ridicules the absurdities of the character s courtship rituals, their false faces, and their secrets. • 53. Games For Understanding Teaching Games for Understanding. This essay will highlight both models of teaching PE, their advantages and disadvantages as well as how we can improve on these. Released in 1982, TGFU is a new approach in teaching physical education. This theory uses the idea that people will learn better in a game based environment, rather than using skill training for one specific sport (Bunker and Thorpe, 1982). When compared to the traditional approach that uses the idea of practising skills in isolation, then applying them into the game. The traditional model follows a more basic format whereas TGFU requires the teacher to be well prepared. The traditional model uses the idea that once a player has learned the necessary skills to play a certain sport, that student can then go on to play that sport at a competent level (Forrest, Webb Pearson, n.d.). The idea behind this theory is that once the students have learned these skills through practicing they can then go on to apply these skills within a game, and how a player performs is judged on how well they can execute this skill or how well they play in a game.
