Pesticide Dicamba Analysis
The article discusses the recent issue of the pesticide dicamba drifting across states. Dicamba is a
pesticide used by three Big Ag companies, Monsanto, BASF, and DuPont, which had recently been
approved for over the top application, rather than its previous use of applying the pesticide at the
base of the plant.
The article raises a big question about GMO s, an issue that we have covered in class and in
readings. The issues facing the farmers in over twenty five states is one of great importance.
Farmers who do not use GMO crops are finding that their crops are being damaged by the
pesticide even if they are miles away. It has damaged about 4 percent of all the soybean crops in
the United States. Sadly, it has also affected vineyards, watermelons,

Egg Producers in Alberta, Canada Essay
INTRODUCTION
The chicken industry of Alberta has been around for many years now. Over 300 farms in
Alberta are dedicated purely for the production of table eggs, that is the eggs you can buy in the
grocery stores. Over the past decades the general way to raise and house these laying chickens
has virtually been unchanged. A recent documentary in the province of Alberta broadcasted by the
TV program W5 showed a biased view of the way the chickens are housed. This has become a
large issue for many animal activists throughout the province. Due to this unfair broadcasting as
well as generalization of all table egg producers, the market of eggs are in jeopardy.
DEFINITION OF THE PROBLEM
There lies a problem in all this, and it may not be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a bird was uncomfortable it would not want to lay eggs, which is not the case. Because of
naГЇve viewers of the documentary there is a push for better living conditions for laying chickens.
There is also a risk of boycotting certain types of eggs, or even all eggs in general. This would be
very terrible for the egg industry as a whole, from the farmers all the way to the grocery stores.
How can a problem such as this be resolved? There are a few new guidelines as far as barns and the
size of chicken cages that are being enforced to better the quality of life for the chickens. This
means the ages will have more space per bird in each cage, as well as dust baths.
SOLUTIONS
In order to make a solution to the problem we must identify the actual problem brought to us by
all the little problems. The problem that has been distinguished is the general public being
unhappy about how today s modern consumption eggs are produced. This was never an issue in
the past. All eggs have always been from chickens living in cages, this is the only efficient way
to manage and control the feed intake as well as egg collection. It has always been done in this
way and now with animal cruelty groups and animal activists it seems this is not a good enough
way anymore. Another problem is that since the footage was taken at one farm people believe all
farms are managed in this way which blankets all chicken farms under the same category. This is
biased thinking and can be

Ttc Attack Case Study
Often when someone s temper is aroused, this person will tend to react in a manner that contrasts
sharply with their usual behavior and sometimes they may even react quite negatively in particular
situations. A momentary decision made in a fit of anger can linger and can even result in negative
consequences. Many jobs in which employees work with the public can be more demanding than
others and can require a higher level of self control and the ability to provide good customer
service under pressure. From waiters and waitresses to police officers, average citizens are
challenged and placed in situations they never anticipated that can put their patience and even their
their character on trial. Below, we will examine an incident that... Show more content on

Many assaults have been recorded against them. As a matter of fact, on average, 500 assaults
take place on them per year as of just a few years ago! The attacks typically involve spitting or
surface from fare disputes or those who are publicly intoxicated. Injuries range from minor to
severe among TTC workers, who often do not return to their job as a result. Patrons may also
suffer an injury as a result of the inappropriate actions of TTC workers, which is evident in a case
where it s alleged that a TTC driver attacked a public transit passenger over a fare and age
disagreement. Apparently, the driver was of the opinion that the fare paid by the student was not
satisfied, due to the age of the passenger. It s alleged that the victim s head was pressed against a
glass window, which as a result, was broken. How exactly the window became broken wasn t
explained in the introductory reports. The Constable with the police who investigated the alleged
attack made note that the injuries sustained by the victim to both his head and neck were minor,
overall. The victim, though, made the decisions to retain a personal injury lawyer s services, who
subsequently advised him to undergo a hospital medical

Dengue Fever And Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever
Dengue is believed to have originated in primates before jumping to humans via an insect vector
100 800 years ago in either Southeast Asia or Africa. (cdc.gov/dengue/epidemiology) Dengue
became a prevalent issue during the 20th century as a result of the Second World War inadvertently
transporting the insect vector from place to place along with cargo. (cdc.gov/dengue

cases began to crop up in Latin America and the Caribbean. (cdc.gov/dengue/epidemiology)

of these symptoms; joint pain, rash, severe headache and/or eye pain, low leukocyte count and mild
bleeding of the gums, nose, petechiae, and sometimes bruising. (cdc.gov/dengue/symptoms

recovery. After about a week of infection the fever can suddenly begin to decline and leads to what
clinicians call a 48 hour critical window when the patient begins to show the symptoms of dengue
hemorrhagic fever. (cdc.gov/dengue/symptoms/index.html)
Family members caring for a dengue infected patient need to keep vigil over the person and bring
them to hospital immediately if they begin to complain of severe abdominal pain with or without
vomiting, vomiting blood, tarry stools, bleeding from the gums or nose red patches on the skin, and
signs of shock such as pale, cold, clammy skin, difficulty breathing, drowsiness and/or irritability.
The cause of these severe symptoms is during the 48 hour window; even the smallest vessels of the
body begin to leak and can lead to catastrophic fluid loss, leading to hypovolemic shock and death.
(cdc.gov/dengue/symptoms/index.html) Dengue can only rarely be passed from person to person
directly through blood transfusions and mother to fetus transmissions. (cdc.gov/dengue/symptoms

Police Officers And The Police Force
You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be used against you. Most of
us know exactly who says this and what it means. The only problem is that this quote is the
extent of our knowledge as an outsider to the Greensboro Police force. I was able to get an inside
look at what really happens in a day in the life of an everyday policeofficer. I spent two days at the
department observing the officers and riding alongside one in the police car. Throughout my
experience I learned that most of the stereotypes I had about police officers were completely
wrong. One of the first officers I talked to was Corporal Donaldson, who is also my father. I asked
him about his experiences with the general public. He told me that... Show more content on

However despite this there are many more problems that police officers have to deal with like
disrespect from the public. I asked the officers what one word is that really stands out to them as
blatant disrespect, 90 percent of them told me that word was pig. A pig is a slang term which is
used to disrespect a police officer. Most officers say they will just ignore this but according to
state law it is illegal to make or use any utterance, gesture, display or abusive language that is
intended to and likely to provoke violent retaliation. About 5 of the 20 officers I interviewed told
me they have arrested people for repeatedly calling them a pig. Not only is this a normal reply, but
most people, including me, do not know that officers can do this.
While I was riding around in the patrol car with Officer Hank I saw firsthand that many people
do not respect police officers. One person who he pulled over cursed, yelled, and all together
disrespected Officer Hank due to their taillight being out after already being warned. Officer
Hank told me he was not going to give them a citation before they disrespected him. I also found
that when officers where cameras people are less likely to be disrespectful to them. My dad always
wears a camera when he is patrolling and besides people pulling the race card disrespect is
something he rarely has to deal with. Another key factor is the gender of the officer in

The Federal Emergency Relief Act, Tennessee Valley...
In 1932 during the worst of the great depression and prior to World War II, President Roosevelt s
administration implemented a series of initiatives or legislative reforms that all fell under the New
Deal. The flood of New Deal legislation that followed produced major changes in government
economy relationships and in government s role in American society generally. (Anderson, 2015,
p. 72) Roosevelt s description of the New Dealwas that it would help to provide relief, recovery,
and reform; this came to be known as the 3 Rs. Many of the reforms were highly successful like the
Federal Emergency Relief Act, Tennessee Valley Authority, Federal Housing Administration and the
Social Security Act. In 1933 the Rural Rehabilitation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The local welfare employees were actually the ones who chose which families were eligible.
Perhaps the problems began there. There were no requirements except for the employees thinking
that the families had minimal skills and could figure it out for themselves. Once chosen the
families had to decide very quickly if they would be making the move. Due to the short season for
farming and building, some families had only days to decide. The following were the guidelines
for choosing a family.
As far as possible, families should be selected first on their farming ability and secondly, those who
may have secondary skills and who may adjust themselves to a diversified farming activity and can
assist with carpentry on their homes and then those who may know something about machinery and
blacksmithing and who have leadership qualities. (Lundberg, 1998)
Adoption/Implementation
Using our current speed of government projects this resettlement endeavor moved at lightning
speed. The first survey was completed in June of 1934 and FERA agreed to the project in January
1935. It only took only eight weeks after that to acquire the 260,000 acres for the new colony. A
month later in late April, the construction workers and supplies were enroute to the valley. Three
days later, the first of the colonists left Minnesota! (Lundberg, 1998)

Biological Structures And Processes Within An Organism...
Human s body is constantly under attack by: bacteria, viruses and many other microorganisms,
these are called pathogens. Our body is a rich source of water and nutrients that these pathogens
need to survive, it is a perfect environment for them to live and develop. Nevertheless, human s
body has its own way to protect itself from these invaders, therefore most of the time we remain
healthy. Immune systemis a system of many biological structures and processes within an
organism that provides a defence against disease. There are three major lines of our defence
against pathogens. The first is to prevent their entry by defences of the skin and mucous
membranes in the respiratory, digestive and urogenital tracts. If this fails, two internal defences
takes over: an initial non specific inflammatory response to injury, or if this unsuccessful, is
followed by specific immune response. Two major divisions of the immune response: non specific
and specific.
(Rowland, 1992)
Non specific defence attacks any molecule, which the body recognises as being non self and skin
is the first barrier that antigen needs to pass through. The first layer of the skin epidermis, consist
of the layer of dead skin cells that lack of water and suitable food, which inhibits the growth of
micro organisms inside the epidermis. Sebum, secreted by sebaceous gland in the skin, contains
fatty acids, which are toxic to many microorganisms. Areas that are not covered by the skin have

In Pakistan, public prosecution is a provincial subject. Thus, matters pertaining to administration
and financial control of the prosecution service are within the purview of the provincial
government. On the other hand, matters pertaining to rules of procedure and duties of prosecutors
at criminal trials are governed by the Criminal Procedure Code of 1898.
The prosecution service throughout had remained under the home department, and had been
regulated by the police from which the public prosecutors and deputy public were drawn from the

Positive Effects Of Underdevelopment In Africa
underdevelopment in Africa was made possible by positive feedback loops starting with the uneven
development in earlier centuries enforced by European constant exploitation of raw materials and
human labor from Africa. It traces the root of underdevelopment Africa back to the pre colonial
period. The natural path of development from communalism to feudalism and capitalism in Africa
was messed up by the European slave trade. The trade in slave was facilitated by African rulers
greed for luxury goods and European products. The effect of this trade was devastating in that it
caused considerable dislocation and disruption in the local economy, caused internal conflict as a
result of slave raiding and a huge loss of African labor. (Rodney ignored the Arab slave trade,
which caused an equivalent loss of human beings, but... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rodney puts together a biting criticism of Europe s interaction with Africa starting in the 15th
century with trading, both the slave trade and the trade in goods. This essentially killed inter Africa
trade, forcing African civilizations to only trade with European and other western economies. This
also changed the economies of African civilizations to suit what the traders wanted, whether human
beings, cotton, or minerals. When European powers grew as a result of the profits from trade, they
then carved Africa into its current state and entered the continent to force more and more
production of things that would increase profit for the western markets. Banks, industries, and
nations prospered by the use of underpaid, sometimes forced African labor. Meanwhile,
civilizations fell apart and education came to a stand still. This book left me further convinced in
the concept of reparations, not just for slavery, but for the destruction of an entire continent and all
the people that came from there in the last 500

The Importance Of Sustainable Development
During the course of the semester, I continue to placed high emphasis on the Brundtland
commission because it give birth to the word sustainable development which environmental policy
makers continue to relied on to enhance environmental protection. Authors of International
Environmental Law and Policy for the 21st century, Nanda and Pring, write, The message of the
Brundtland Report was that it is possible to achieve a path of economic development for the global
economy which meets the need of the present generation without compromising the chances of
future generations to meet their needs (Nanda and Pring 2013, 27). The Brundtland commission
provides is a clear indication that society should place emphasis on creating focus create sustainable
economic program aimed at providing renewable resources and reduce our consumption of
nonrenewable product. To achieve this concept of sustainability, corporations have a leading
responsibility to make this a priority to enact policies and implement governmental regulations in
achieving sustainability. With this been said, I agreed with Stuart L. Hart, that multinational
corporation have the moral responsible to enhance environmental protection. Hart writes Business
more than either government or civil society is uniquely equipped at this point in history to lead us
toward a sustainable world in the years ahead (Hart 2010,19). Over the years, globalization, politics,
and business interest have impacted businesses to make

The Importance Of Memory And Short-Term Memory
Roger goes to his friend s wedding where he is introduced to over 50 people. Roger s goal at this
wedding is to meet new people, and remember as many names as he can. In order for him to get
their names into long term memory, he first needs to get them past sensory, and short term
memory. For him to be able to do this, he needs to come up with some strategies to remember these
names. He will learn when it is necessary for him to rehearse the names over in his head, group
some of them together, or making connections to the names. By testing out these strategies, we will
learn how information moves from sensory memory to short termmemory, and hopefully to long
term memory.
All information makes it to our sensory memory, but it only lasts less than one second. When
Roger got to the wedding, there was probably tons of people in all different outfits, but he will
probably never remember any of it. If he were to meet a woman who he thinks is attractive, her
outfit could enter his short term memory so he can spot her out later during the party. If we pay
attention to the information in our sensory memory, in information is sent on to the second stage,
short term memory (Doyle Portillo Pastorino 271). The memory will last only about 20 30 seconds
when it reaches the short term memory. Because the short term memory can hold about seven plus
or minus two items, Roger could have payed close attention to the color of her eyes and hair too.

Closed Circulatory System Lab Report
The purpose of this experiment was to identify how open and closed circulatory systems respond to
chemical stimulants. During this experiment a ghost shrimp represented the open circulatory
system, while the black worm represented the closed circulatory system. For each organism there
resting heart rates were recorded by count the number of pulsations the organism had under a
microscope. First, the shrimp and the worm were treated with caffeine, and then their heart rate was
recorded after the organisms were exposed to the treatment for three minutes. The organisms were
removed from the caffeine, and were given time to return back to their resting heart rates. The
shrimp and the worm were then exposed to ethanol, and there hear rates were recorded again....

When the shrimp was exposed to the caffeine the heart rate increased by 50.4 beats, and when
the shrimp was exposed to the ethanol the heart rate decreased by 34.8 beats. The worms
average resting heart rate was 21, the heart rate affected by caffeine was 32.83, and the heart rate
affected by ethanol was 21. The average increase in heart rate was 11.83 beats, and the average
decrease in heart rate was 7.5 beats. From this data we can conclude that caffeine acted as a
chemical stimulant and speed up how frequently the heart was pumping blood into the system.
Ethanol acted as a chemical sedative and slowed down how many times the heart pumped blood
into the system. Even though the two organisms had different circulatory systems, they were still
affected in the same manner. The only difference between the two systems during this experiment
is open circulatory systems have higher heart rates overall compared to closed circulatory

Theories About The Conceptual Nature Of Institutions...
Introduction:
Sociologists have various theories about the conceptual nature of institutions throughout Sociology,
One such institution is family. Some concepts include; The Nuclear Family; The privatisation of
the Family; and Structural Functionalism. These three concepts coincide with one another. Families
can be found in various cultures and society in some form or another. Schaefer (2009) defines the
family as a set of people related by blood, marriage or some other agreed upon relationship, or
adoption, who share the primary responsibility for reproduction and caring for members of society.
The family serves different functions in society, depending upon which sociological theory is
applied to it, even though the family itself remains the same, despite operating under alternating
perspectives.
Speaking in a broader sense, the functionalist perspective has mainly focused on the operations of
family within society, and the way it s functions affect various members. It looks at family as an
institution, regarding how it maintains itself, including key aspects such as order, stability, and its
personal significance of individual members. Two of the more well known functionalists are
George. P. Murdock and Talcott Parsons.
Murdock (1949). conducted a sociological study of the family involving 250 different families from
around the world. Using the analysis from this study he argues that the family operates using four
basic functions, for each of the individual

Modern vs. Ancient in Cyberspace
The Big Bang created the energy and matter to create the universe, and Bob Kahn and Vint Cerf
invented TCP and IP which created the protocols that built the internet. Without the aforementioned,
technically cyberspace couldn t exist, but the fact that it does exist, it not only has physical
components in an electric, virtual world, but it can effectively become an intangible idea which is
debated and analyzed. What makes the internet somewhat unique is that it is an artificial alternative
realm where we humans can think, speak, and act. We have unique lives on the internet and web.
We can search for info in an encyclopedia, post photos, stream music, start revolutions, buy drugs
and weapons, and hack the pentagon, all through an electric system connected to billions of other
devices. Those who connect to the internet all bear liberty to act, in an almost state of nature way.
Yet, you are subject to the internet as soon as you are connected. Thus, based on the evolution of
the Internet, certainly different political philosophers would have competing visions, ancient versus
modern, about its current state and how to handle political or governing policies moving forward.
To be able to properly analyze and apply political theories to a cyber realm, we must understand that
connecting to the internet is much like a social contract. When you sign on the internet you are

Essay on Consciousness As Determined Th
Consciousness is understood in a variety of ways. In one belief, a person is conscious when awake,
but unconscious when sleeping or comatose. Yet people also do things requiring perception and
thought unconsciously even when they are awake. A person can be conscious of their physical
surroundings, pain and even a wish or fantasy. In short a creatureis conscious if it is aware of itself
and that it is a physical and emotional being. Consciousnessis a psychological condition defined by
the English philosopher John Locke as quot;the perception of what passes in a man s own mind
quot;.1
Consciousness is defined and perceived differently in many psychological view points. For instance
the earlier views around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They held that consciousness was involved with every working mental state. In this view the mind
is transparent to itself that is, it can perceive it s own activity. For three centuries self transparence
was the defining feature of the mind. That conception was sprung through the theories of Wilhelm
Wundt and Edward Titchener who were advocates off a science of introspection.
Early in the 20th century the transparency doctrine came to a setback for three different reasons.
The first reason was Sigmund Freud s compelling evidence that some very important mental
activity is not only subconscious but firmly resists conscious access through repression. At first
Freud s idea of unconscious was treated as self contradictory, but it has since won acceptance as
being useful and entirely possible.
the second difficulty for the transparency doctrine was that it made the mind impossible for
objective science. What is known introspectively to a single person would be utterly private and
therefore can not be viewed scientifically. Scientific method demands objectivity and reportable
data. The behaviorists John B. Watson and B.F. Skinner and the philosopher Gilbert Ryle rebelled
against the idea of an inner sense and denied the very existence of consciousness in the strong sense
exhibited by Locke, Descartes and the introspective psychologists.3 Ryle insisted that mind is an
illusory concept and that it is

Franklin D. Roosevelt, Congress, and the New Deal
Prompt: Even though people consider him one of the most powerful executives in US
governmental history, FDR had to deal with the other branches of government just like other
presidents. How did he disagree with Congress early on in the New Deal? How did he disagree
with them late in the New Deal?
The founders certainly crafted much of the current form and function (as well as the way it was in
the 1930 s and 1940 s) with the idea that no single person or body would have too much power in
the government. Having a legislative body that must pass the laws, a President who can push an
agenda but not on his own and a judicial body that makes sure that laws pass constitutional
muster is essential to prevent unethical (or even tyrannical) events to occur. Certainly, FDR was
no tyrant. Like most Presidents, he didn t have a large swath of Congress that was eager to do
his legislative bidding like President Barack Obama enjoyed from 2007 to 2010 when he and his
fellow Democrats controlled the House, Senate and the Presidency, the latter of those four years
being when the Affordable Care Act was passed. FDR certainly was dealt a blow when the
opposing party won thirteen governorships, doubled their strength in the House and gained eight
new seats in the Senate in 1938 . That seismic shift basically but the kibosh on the New Deal s
two major shifts. the first of which happened in 1933 34 and the latter happening in 1935 38 .

Investigating The Pricing Of Audit
Researches about audit pricing started in the 1980s with the publishing of Simunic (1980) s The
pricing of audit services: Theory and evidence. He set out the multiple regression model of audit
pricing and run the regression analysis using data from 397 listed companies in USA. Simunic took
the position that auditfees are determined by the loss exposure of the client comlany, the
apportionment rate of loss between the audit firm and the client company, and the production
function and characteristics of the audit firm . The results of his study demonstrate that the scale of
an auditee is the most significant factor determining its audit fees, despite other factors, such as the
ratioof receivables to total assets of the client company and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

All of the researches mentioned above focus on developed economies, where audit markets have
similar characteristics: audit markets are mature and oligopolistic; audit markets operate under
stable policy and regulation. However, things might be different in China, a developing economy,
due to the imperfect regulation and a highly competitive audit market, where top ten audit firms
are only in charge of 30% listed companies during 2005 2007, while big 8 audit firms dominated
the audit market in developed economies in the same period (Li et al., 2005; Wang et al., 2008).
Most empirical studies of audit fees have come out due to government s requirement of Chinese
listed companies to disclose audit fees in their financial reports, since 2001. Some works
investigate the determinants of audit fees directly. Wang (2002) became the first researcher to study
audit pricing determinants of Chinese listed companies. He concludes that the scale of client firm
and auditor, the complexity of client firm, audit opinion, audit risk, and the industry of client firms
are of statistically significance in determining audit fees. Liu et al. (2003) s research further
concludes that the location of client firm is significantly related to audit fees. Wu (2003) s
contribution is that there is a positive relationship between the changing of audit opinions (basically
from unqualified opinion to qualified

FrankensteinВґs Frankenstein And Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
There is something at work in my soul, which I do not understand. 1 Mary Shelley Frankenstein, a
novel written by Mary Shelley, was published in 1818, a first of its kind. The novel is considered
to be the first depiction of science fiction, with infused elements of the Gothic novel and romantic
movement. 2 Today this masterpiece largely influences literature studies and popular culture,
especially in the aspect of film creation. Various adaptations of Mary Shelley s Frankensteinhas been
created, but the only motion picture that remains close to the novel is Kenneth Branagh s Mary
Shelley s Frankenstein (1994). The novel and film have made many details conspicuous for
comparison and contrast; details that related to the beginning, the monster s creation, and Elizabeth
s death and rebirth.
The novel and film have alike beginnings, yet there are features changed by Kenneth Branagh. Mary
Shelley s novel specifically started off with a letter written by Walton. The author chose letters from

Kenneth Branagh follows through with creating the same setting as Mary Shelley did in the
beginning of her novel, yet leaves out details about the family s history and the death of

the film displays that his work was a continuation of Professor Waldman s. Related to the same
scene, Mary Shelley spoke little about Frankenstein s physical experimentation and how it was
done, where in contrast it was the main focus of the film. One point of clear difference is the
ending. Even though Elizabeth dies in both the novel and the film, Kenneth Branagh takes
Elizabeth s character further. He does this by allowing her to be reborn through Frankenstein s
experimentation and by then killing her off as she sets herself on

concept clarity is associated with numerous indicators of adjustment, and possibly promoted by
adolescents open communication with parents (Morloes, Dijk Dijk). Further stating issues with self
concept clarity growth may result in amplified internalizing difficulties in adolescence, such as
depressive and anxiety symptoms (Morloes, Dijk Dijk).
Three Aspects of the Article That Were Meaningful and Relevant
It is through this article that I was presented the structural components of one s self concept are
assumed to have unique anticipated for emotional adjustment that is separate from the sway of
content components, so the knowledge and evaluative properties of self concept (Morloes, Dijk

A second piece of meaningful as well as surprising information comes in the form of reflecting and
coming to truly recognize the how the above process takes place during adolescents interactions
with their parents as stated in the article (Morloes, Dijk Dijk). Therefore, the development of the
self may be partially founded through parent child interactions, particularly when parents are
actively listening and supportive of their child s perspectives (Morloes, Dijk Dijk). Finally, is
becoming aware of what of the possibility that adolescence open communication or lack thereof
linked to aspects of emotional well being including symptoms of depression (Morloes, Dijk Dijk).
Thus, reinforcing the argument that greater open communication with parents can protect against
symptoms of depression among other internalizing conditions (Morloes, Dijk

Stephen Curry And Lebron James Research Paper
Stephen Curry and LeBron James, two legends in the NBA. These two hold one of the biggest
fan rivalries in NBA history. So this essay will be breaking down the details that you need to know
about them both. Some people find S. Curry better by things he s done, but for L. James most don t
have as many reasons on why he is better. LeBron James, also know as the King in the NBA. He
has been phenomenal during his NBA career. He is 32 and is position is SF (Small Forward).

LeBron. He has beat Russell Westbrook in a skillz test bye a whole ten seconds. One of his most
shocking records is that he s made 12 threes in a single game, which is the NBA record. Plus
Steph has broken his own record and made 270 threes in a single season. Then he thought that
he could do better and changed that to 407, which is more than what the whole Suns team made
in 1997! At the moment Steph only has one championship ring that he won in 2015, but he still
has many more years for him to play in the NBA. Briefly both Stephen Curry and LeBron James
are undefeatable players in the NBA . By the looks of is it S.Curry has his ways of being better
than Lebron. Things such as shooting, ball control, and has a better vision of the court than him.
Then Lebron has his ways of being better as well, by dunking contested layups athleticism, and

Analysis Of Primary Colors Essay
Politics is a bloodsport, one big game of corruption, muckraking, prostitution, and defilement, which
is played by the politicians, the media, and the seemingly innocent public that tends to forget that
politicians are humans also, no better than the masses except for one thing, the ability to play the
game. Primary Colors by Anonymous portrays this fraudulent game perfectly, exhibiting all of the
dark aspects of a political campaign: from the vicious media in their pursuit of scandals, to the
traitorousness of opposing candidates to destroy each other, all the way to the secretive sexual
interactions taking place during the campaigning process. Yet in this vice corruptednovel,

In all of his public appearances, Picker always seems to be speaking what is exactly on his mind
just speaking the truth, and even when the reader discovers that he has been putting up a façade
all along, the fact that Picker admits to his conflicts and problems only re emphasizes his nobleness.
One of the most important components to a political campaign is the voter, for no political
candidate can be elected without someone voting for them. The dedication of both candidates,
Stanton and Picker, to their voters is another aspect that accentuates their nobleness. Stanton is
remarkable in his devotion to the public; the ability to reach out and interact with the public and
the power to help them is the reason why he loves politics. While campaigning it is the people
that need him, like Danny Scanlon the crippled boy, the adult illiterates, or the unemployed in
Portsmouth, that keep Stanton going, for they deserved a better country and that was what this
election had to be about (144). There is a truth to Stanton s promises, similar to the way he doesn
t forget people s names and the aspects of their personal lives, he also doesn t forget the promises
he gives them in return for their support. For example, he remembers the promise that he made to
Fat Willie about having him open a branch of his restaurant up in the capitol (214). But on the
overall it is Stanton s genius that allows the people to relate to him, he

Struggle For Land In Israel Conflict Essay
The Struggle for Land in Israel and Palestine: What s the Problems Ahead?
Abstract
The Israeli Palestinian conflict is a continuing conflict, which is a part of Arab Israel conflict and
the Middle East war. This paper mainly explores the conflicts which caused the struggle for land in
Israel and Palestine.
Why Is It So Hard to Stop Struggling For Land? The land struggle between Israel and Palestine
have never ended for almost a century. Today, though there are a lot of agreements, the conflicts
and the possibility of the war are still existent. There four main reasons to explain why it is so hard
to stop struggling for land: the history, water resources, vengeance, and religious.
The History
Both of two ethnics claim to the land of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Israel, Large amounts (700 900 mm) are measured in the Golan and the Galilee mountains
and in the south Karmel (Carmel). and In the south of the Negev and in the Elat Mountains
amounts of rain even lower than 25 mm/yr are measured. (Israel Water Context, 1961 1990 [3])
Unbalanced distribution of water resources in space and time makes this region serious shortage
of water. And the river and lakes are scarce in this area. Jordan River is the only perennial river in
this region. River and lakes are direct water sources for human. Thus, naturally, the Jordan River
becomes the fuse of the struggle for land in Israel and Palestine.
Vengeance
Israel will settle scores with those who are killing and those who are encouraging them. Anyone
who raises their hand against us will have their hand cut off. (Bob Fredericks, 2015 [4]). After
reading Netanyahu s words, we can truly know how the vengeance plays a part in the Conflicts
between Israel and Palestine. The vengeance in two groups of people just started at Jewish
immigration began. Small anger and shock cumulated to a huge crack in two sides. When one side
launched rockets, the other side must take a counter back to against. Thus, this the reason why the
vengeance causes the struggle in two sides.
Religious
It s definitely a religious war. That the land struggle especially happens in Jerusalem and the holy
sites can explain this. And also, two leaders both use religion in recent

More Than A Carpenter Summary
More than a Carpenter is written by two men whose names are Josh and Sean McDowell.
First and foremost the beginning chapter, the book speaks of their experience and what lead them
to a search of happiness and meaning in life. During this search, his friend issued him a challenge
to research accurate and logical claims of Jesus Christ proving that he is God s son. Proving that he
occupied a human body living amongst men and women and he died on the cross for the sins of
humanity as well as being buried and resurrected three days later. Overall this book discusses the
answers to the questions many have on the hunt for happiness: Who am I? What is my purpose?
What is my destiny? Chapter two discusses what makes Jesus so different and what makes
people uncomfortable making him the topic of conversation. McDowell happened to run across
the actual meaning of the name Jesus Christ or as some may refer to the deity of Christ. The
name Jesus was derived from the Greek name Jeshua or Joshua meaning Jehoviah Savior or the
lord saves. Christ is also from the Greek language meaning Messiah or Mashiach from the Hebrew
language which stands for the anointed one. Chapter three had an interesting title labeled Lord,

the hallucination, the swoon, and the hypnosis are a few more theories chatted about throughout
the chapter. Overall the book explained that Christianity is not a religion, an ethical idea, nor a
psychological phenomenon. It is a person, Jesus Christ, who is in the business of changing

Persuasive Essay On Air Traffic Control
The odds are that at some point in time, most people in America will travel by air. What most of
these people do not realize is that a simple flight is in reality a well oiled, complex machine unlike
any other air navigation service provider in the world. After the Wright brothers took their first
successful flight, America embraced air travel. The Federal Aviation Agency (now Administration)
officially began operations in May of 1958, and later developed a sophisticated air traffic control
system that is responsible for the largest volume of air traffic in the world ( A Brief History of
the FAA ). Today, however, many politicians believe that government involvement in air traffic
control is inhibiting the overall performance of air traffic control. Several bills have been
proposed to Congress since the 1970s in attempt to separate air traffic control (referenced as ATC)
from the FAA by privatization, corporatization, or other means (Elias 2). The most recent of these
bills has caused serious debate in the aviation world over economic policies, safety regulations, and
overall effectiveness of the current ATC system. The Aviation Innovation, Reform, and
Reauthorization Act (21st Century AIRR Act) as proposed by Representative Bill Shuster should
not be passed by Congress because it would privatize air traffic control by removing it from the
Federal Aviation Administration. This would entail the creation of a board of stakeholders who
would have the power to make regulatory

Psychosocial Development Analysis
Erik Erikson is famous for his theory of psychosocial development, which emphasizes the
sociocultural development and created eight stages that children undergo psychosocial conflicts.
Children ages five to twelve go through the stage of industry vs. inferiority. The stage industry
vs. inferiority is were children develop a sense of competence at useful skills and tasks during
their middle childhood (Berk Meyers, 2015). Children during this stage experience self doubt and
their self esteem tends to be low. Fifth graders should have a rite of passage that marks an
important stage in their life, which is competency during middle childhood. The first stage that
fifth graders should overcome is separation for the week long program. The program will consist

Thomas Edison Qualities
Throughout history, the world has seen it fair share of leaders across the globe, from resilient
presidents to evil dictators. When the word leader is thrown around, the names Barack Obama and
Martin Luther King Jr. are often used as its definition, but a leader is rarely so cut and dry. A
leader defines itself, blazing its own path and helping others follow the lead. This thought can be
demonstrated in Thomas Edison. A true leader in his field, Edison transformed the world we know
today and how it came to be. The humble light bulb, taken for granted in the modern age, was
once revolutionized by Edison, who innovated the design to make the bulb burn brighter for
longer. He was responsible for the most primitive assembly line, but it did not produce cars or
consumer goods, it produced ideas on a consistent basis. Edison is often credited with the
discovery of the research lab, which applied the principles of mass production to ideas and
employed large scale teamwork. Throughout his life, Edison would often fail, but would always
have the creativity and persistence to solve the next problem placed in his lap. He wanted to
make a change in the world and without that will power, the United States may not be as
advanced as it is today. A man of extraordinary character and strong leadership, Edison is an
excellent role model to follow as I pursue a career in engineering. Thomas Edison and myself both

Difference Between Truth And Story Truth
I want you to feel what I felt. I want you to know why story truth is truer sometimes than
happening truth (O Brien 171). When telling a story, people often exaggerate details, characters
and other events in the story in order to make it more interesting. Why do people do this? Do they
do it because they feel that the story lacked something and needs to be expanded upon, or is it
something else. This way of telling a story is especially prevalent in Tim O Brien s book The
Things They Carried, which is a collection of stories about the Vietnam war. Throughout the text, O
Brien uses repetition, oxymorons, and imagery to illustrate the differences between story truthand
happening truth to the reader. In order for something to be ingrained... Show more content on

When O Brien defines story truth and happening truth, he often uses oxymorons to establish the
point that these two ideas are extremely complicated. When O Brien uses an oxymoron, it s
usually when he wants to make a point on the fact that both of these truths aren t exactly true,
like when he says, In many cases a true war story cannot be believed. If you believe it, be
skeptical. It s a question of credibility. Often the crazy stuff is true and the normal stuff isn t,
because the normal stuff is necessary to make you believe the truly incredible craziness. (68).
What he is essentially saying is, when creating a story, adding believable parts is neccessary for
a story to make sense. Another time he explains that regardless of how good a story seems to be,
there has to be parts made up because a true war story is never good, A true war story is never
moral. It does not instruct, nor encourage virtue, nor suggest models of proper human behavior,
... If a story seems moral, do not believe it. If at the end of a war story you feel uplifted, ... then
you have been made the victim of a very old and terrible lie (O Brien 65). This leads back in to
the differences between happening and story truth, by explaing the way that story truth is used to
ground a story in reality for a reader, rather than simply expanding on details like in happening
truths. O Briens use of Oxymorons, although rarely used, show that he is fully aware of the

In Believing in the True Self, Gloria Steinem points out that something we are born with is
different from the others. Even though it might not be something fancy, we still have to admit
to it because it is the only way to find your true self and admit it. She asserts that we are proud of
ourselves when we believe in our true self. On the other hand, we might doubt ourselves all the
time if we don t believe in our true self. I totally agree with her ideas. Her first idea seems to me
that negative thoughts can easily change a person. For instance, I want to become a famous singer.

Suicide Is Reaching Epidemic Proportions All Across The Globe
Suicide is reaching epidemic proportions all across the globe. What is causing such an outbreak in
young adults? Most people have heard about the get help hotlines and the advertisements associated
with suicide. Although we ve all heard about it, not much is being done about it. Johnson states the
facts about suicide, claiming 39,518 lives in 2011, or more than 6,889 more than in 2005 (10).
This small piece of information goes to show just how much suicide has increased in the last
few years. Besides being the number 10 cause of death among all ages in the U.S., it is the 2nd
leading killer of adolescents, or people between ages 15 and 19 (Peacock 1). Also, the number of
completed suicides only touches the surface on the dilemma it truly is; this is because there are 25
suicide attempts per every suicide (731). What goes unnoticed is that suicide is on the rise for a
number of reasons including mental illness, bullying, social media, and high expectation
perfectionist teens.
Mental illnesses, including the number one untreated cause for suicide, depression, account for
90% of suicides (Randall 532). Depression causes serious negative consequences that may lead to
suicidal behavior if not taken care of properly (Martinez 2). Anxiety, another mental disorder, may

Essay about Alternative Medicine
Alternative Medicine
Although Alternative or Complementary medicine has been kept on the fringes of the medical
sciences in the past, it is becoming increasingly more popular, and more reputable. Alternative
medicines are those medical systems which are not taught to or practiced by most conventional
medical doctors. Alternative medicines seemingly have always existed, changing and conforming to
the current climate of society. There seems to be an almost endless number of alternative

scientific community has failed to gain a consensus on the legitimacy of the first type.
Unfortunately, both are encompassed by the term alternative medicine. This paper will focus on the
more controversial alternative medicines described in the first group.
By examining some of the most popular, enduring alternative medical systems, one can begin to see
some general trends of the systems, understand some recurring flaws, and understand the attraction
and usefulness of alternative medicine in today s health care system. However, alternative medicine
remains controversial. Whether it can be supported scientifically or not, alternative medicine may
be useful to encourage both physical and mental well being via a placebo effect. For this reason,
alternative medicine must be considered by physicians as a complement to modern medicine.

Purchase Intentions And Motives Of A Casino
Purchase Intentions and Casino Motivations

The American Revolutionary War ( 1775-1783 ) Essay
The American Revolutionary War (1775 1783), was a war between the Kingdom of Great Britain
and thirteen colonies on the North American continent. There was not a specific event that led to
the Revolutionary War. American colonies wanted full democratic rights, but the British only saw
them as colonies to be used and exploited. The British saw the colonies as economic entities that
could pay for their own defense. Many of the colonists would have been willing to pay for their own
defense. With the condition that they would have a voice when it came to making decisions. The
British ignored the colonies demands. As a result, the British developed the separate and unique
American identity. Over a ten year time period many colonists began to identify themselves as
Americans. Once the American identity was defined, The American Revolutionary War became
inevitable. After America won its independence from Great Britain, there was a need for unity
among the new states. The needs for unity lead to the creation of The Articles of Confederation.
These Articles represent the first constitutional agreement made between 13 American states. The
Articles of confederation served as a written document establishing the functions of the government
and the United States. The purpose of the Articles was to provide a general government of the 13
colonies that had won their freedom from British rule and to bring unity of the new states. The

Policy And Procedure Analysis Assignment
Policy and Procedure Analysis Assignment Policy and procedure make an organization have a
framework of how to operate and meet its goal. Policies are principles, rules and guidelines
adopted by an organization to reach its long term goals (business dictionary). Sullivan (2013)

activities and goals. They help make sure that plans and ideas of the organization are being
followed and do achieve the set goals. One policyin my health care facility that needs updating is

The Crucible Danforth s Downfall Essay
Responsible? The Salem Tragedy of 1692 was a cumulative downfall, wherein no singular
person was responsible, but instead everybody was in his or her own way. At this time in history
the people of Massachusetts were like dominos, rigidly set up in lines across the board, but all
too close for comfort. So close to the tipping point, that one small factor would send them all
hurtling over the edge. Though the Salem tragedy was a group effort, one such member played a
higher role in the destruction. Judge Danforth, the epitome of theocracy at the time believed you
were either for God, or you were not, and there was no road in between. This quickly caused
destruction as the system of society began to turnon itself. Those who did not know their
commandments were assumed to be cavorting with the devil, and Judge Danforth, power hungry
with lynchings, called all the shots. It is evident when he says, And do you know that near to 400
are in jail from Marblehead to Lynn, and upon my signature?... And 72 condemned to hang by that
signature? (Danforth, Act 3), that all the weight of his signature has gone to his head, and he has
begun to regard himself higher than most. Perhaps if Danforth had been less greedy and more
open, he would have heard the truth in Proctor s words when he told about the girls decept.
However, instead of listening, he asserted his dominance and power, and instead went on to convict
more people. Another key component of the Salem Tragedy... Show more content on

Assignment 3: Advertising and Marketing Research and Essay
Sharon L. Price
Topic: PowerAde
PowerAde was presented to the public in 1988 as a fountain beverage by researchers at the Coca
Cola Company. However, it wasn t until 1992 when it was suggested that the product be released
as a ready to drink thirst quencher or better known as a sport drink. This idea was the spark that
ignited a competitive sports drink market. Before PowerAde s launch in 1992, the sports drink
market was solely monopolized by Gatorade. Nevertheless, PowerAde extricated itself from
Gatorade by adding vitamins B3, B6, and B12, which were said to enhance the metabolism of
carbohydrate energy. At this time, PowerAde took 36% of the market share in the Fitness... Show

The judge concluded that there was no value to Gatorade s grievance that PowerAde s marketing
slogan inferred that PowerAde Ion4 was more complete than Gatorade. The ruling may have
seemed like a win for PowerAde, but the damage was already done due to the lawsuit s pessimistic
publicity.
PowerAde has grown successfully over the past years by globally employing principle marketing
strategies that adhere to several facets of sport drink consumers. First, PowerAde increased its
association with developed high profile international sporting events such as the Olympics,
NASCAR, PGA tour, NHRA, NCAA, AFL, and FIFA World Cup. Second, PowerAde has levied
global communications to speak to consumers by upholding a hospitable appearance through the
use of global media outlets. Both marketing strategies have highly influenced adolescents which
helped PowerAde achieve its high ranked status in the sport drink industry. The sport drink industry
spends almost one billion dollars on endorsements each year. Furthermore, celebrities are featured in
endorsements campaigns such as TV commercials, billboard campaigns, print advertising, and
website ads that reinforce an affable marketing strategy. Both methods of advertisement are
appealing to adolescents because they dream to be like these celebrities. Furthermore, the mode of
advertisement caters to the desired physical attributes that adolescents desire to possess.

A Brief Note On Nature s Deadliest Predator
Nature s Deadliest Predator
Plastic is forever... and a lot cheaper than diamonds (Meikle 9). When plastics were first
discovered they were called the material of 1,000 uses. This first, very primitive plastic was
called Bakelite, discovered in 1907 (Knight 5). Although plastic today can be chemically analyzed
very well, when first discovered there was very little information known about the benefits and
downfalls of this material. Plastics have many unique characteristics that make them extremely
desirable as an applicable material. They are better known in the world of chemistry as polymers,
poly meaning many and mers meaning parts. In order for a substance to be classified as a polymer, a
compound must be made up of many of these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Polymers come in two distinctly different chemical make ups, thermoplastics, which can be
reheated, reworked, and recycled, and thermosets, which once cured are completely locked into
place and and cannot be recycled ( The Basics ). What makes these polymers so environmentally
unfriendly is that they will not biodegrade. The long chains of covalent bonds makes the
compounds so strong that they will only undergo a process called photodegradation. This
photodegradation means that over time the polymers will simply break into smaller and smaller
pieces, never completely going away ( The Basics ). These small pieces containing chemical
toxins gravely endanger wildlife who confuse these pellets for food. Plastics are still relatively
new materials, their potential not fully reached. The question is how will the use of so many non
reusable plastics in a person s everyday life affect the economy and environment in the long run?
Plastic is one of the worlds most prominent resources and therefore it is a staple in not only in the
United States economy, but in other economies around the world. To begin with, the plastics
industry and manufacturing alone accounts for over nine hundred thousand jobs domestically.
Meaning that of the 64.2% of the United States workforce, about one in every two hundred people
is employed by the plastics industry ( Economic ).

Symbolism In The Talented Mr. Ripley By Patricia Highsmith
The Talented Mr. Ripley by Patricia Highsmith, set in 1950s in a somewhat vibrant, jazz
influenced Italy, gives a vivid insight into the mind of a small time conman turned psychopath. It
also provides us with the central concepts of amorality, paranoia and how that survival and greed
for money can turn almost ordinary people uncaring and self indulgent. Highsmith s use of third
person narrative is an effective technique and is used to expand on the thesis of morality in the
novel . Tom Ripley, a man in his mid 20 s, claims he is close friends with Richard Dickie Greenleaf,
when in reality, he doesn t really know Dickie at all. (3) Approached by the wealthy Herbert

exciting until you find the logical explanation, the film is intriguing because you don t have the
luxury of knowing Tom s background, or why he covets Dickie s lifestyle. It was because of
these changes, even though some were minor that I did not enjoy the movie. I do understand
though that in order to appeal to a more broad audience the producers had to add and change
details in order for it to be more appealing. The differences did not make the movie unexciting,
but the book is definitely better. The book provides a more in depth profile analysis of the

Theme Of Voices In The City By Anita Desai
Abstract:
Unlike other women novelists, Anita Desai concentrates on the exploration of sensibility, that too
feminine sensibility by probing deep into the inner life of a woman. Desai reigns supreme in her
fictional world by focusing attention towards the quest inward and concentrating on the still
grimmer and more harrowing presentation of Indian life. In fact all her characters are sensitive,
solitary and hyper introspective. Her fiction balances itself delicately on the fringes between things
and awareness of things, between chaos and order of mind. Her primary interest lies in exploring
the disturbed depths of the female psyche. . The most prominent feature of her fiction is her mode
of individualizing the character. She is preoccupied primarily with the portrayal of women
protagonists as living in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Nyla was chosen for this case study because she seems to be a very interesting young girl. We

appears to have a sophisticated vocabulary, playful character, and seems to be well behaved for a
four year old. I am very excited about observing her for this case study. Since she was two years

dance/gym glass. It has been suggested that fathers attachment role during the preschooler years
helps to challenge the child in a supportive context that complements the mother s role in caring
and comforting (Roggman et al. 2002). Nyla s teacher also indicated that when Nyla gets too hot
playing she will take a break and hold conversations with teachers. Once she is cooled off, she is

Ides Of March Essay
The Ides of March: A dreaded day of disaster, universally associated with doom and tragic events.
The Ides of March corresponds with the fifteenth of March and will forever live in ignominy for
the infamous assassination of Julius Caesar. This particular day holds personal significance to me:
it falls on the day I was born. I will be the first to admit that I have had some strange birthdays.
However, it wasn t until the day I turned thirteen that it became evident that something more than
bad luck was behind my misfortune; maybe the Ides of Marchhas been the root of my birthday
curse all along. In January 2015, I auditioned for the school play: Hairspray. Although I ve never
considered myself musically talented, somehow, I recieved the role I requested and was ecstatic.
The performance dates were two months away, and coincidentally, the two days after I turned
thirteen; I couldn t wait.

the luxury of being in a state of the art hospital and receiving excellent care along with the
reassurance of a great prognosis. I knew deep down that a trip to Chicago could easily be

trip was not the end of the world. I was so blessed to be able to spend a relaxing week with my
family. Supporting my cast from the audience members forced me to swallow my pride and

Is Procrastination Is More Popular Among College Students
The definition of limit according to Dictionary.com is The final, utmost, or furthest boundary or
point as to extent, amount, continuance, procedure . The definition of distraction as stated by the
Psychology Dictionary is An interruption to attention or anything that draws attention away from
the primary task . While time is the enemy of a procrastinator, distractionis its best friend. One of
the main reasons as to why procrastinationis more popular among college students today than it
was fifty years ago is because of technology, social media to be exact. There is YouTube,
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. All of these examples play a major role in the act of distractions.

A Critique on Freakonomics, A Nobel by Levitt and Dubner
In Levitt and Dubner s novel, Freakonomics, they deal with the sensitive subject of abortions in
chapter four. During this section, Levitt and Dubner are purposing that the drop of crime is not
because of the many popular ideas they address but instead because of abortions becoming
legalized. Providing proof to their argument, they list out all the popular ideas that many people
believe to be the cause of the drop in crime and then one by one explain why these ideas could
not fit into the massive crime drop. After explaining the list of popular ideas, they finally come
out and state what their take on the crime drop is and explaining why they believe this
explanation instead of the ones listed before (115 145). Levitt and Dubner s flow of writing and
logic are shown very strong in this section and provide an easy and understandable read to the
audience. Using this form of writing also creates an easier understanding for when they get to their
point and distracts the reader into taking account of what they say instead of how offensive it is.
In the beginning of the chapter Levitt and Dubner tell the story the story of how a Communist
dictator of Romania, Nicolae Ceausescu, set a new law to have abortions illegalized and how it
ended up backfiring on him (115 117). Opening with a story, they were able to grab the reader s
attention while also proving a point to their main argument about how legalizing or illegalizing a
law can create a huge impact on the country. While the

studies, there is more of an emphasis on the black men, as opposed to black women. From the

Effects Of Gambling On The United States
Gambling in the United States has been fought over for years. The outcomes of gambling have
been good, however they have also been bad as well. Between land ownership over where gambling
can occur and the outlaw of gambling itself, it has not been an easy topic of discussion. Within
these disputes, most of them include conflicts amongst Native Americans and our federal
government. In an article from the California Research Bureau stated by Roger Danstan, Indian

Among the restrictions of gambling, it can be clearly pointed out that there are some exceptions to
allowing it happen. Through the Commerce Clause, Congress has carefully looked upon
gambling. This allows gambling, however it could only be on land that belongs to the Native
Americans. Aside from the current conflicts with gambling, there are revenues generated from it
that contribute to our government. In the same article written by Roger Danstan, he goes on to
clarify that, Illegal gaming is popular, though its popularity and prevalence are difficult to
measure. An estimated $32 billion was wagered illegally in 1986, resulting in gross revenues of
approximately $5.6 billion, ( Introduction of Gambling ). Illegal gambling tends to be the most
popular of gambling because it mostly generates the highest revenues. It seems to offer a
completely different way for the government and our nation to receive some sort of a steady
income. There are many other forms of gambling in the United States other than just typical card
games, the sub categories of gambling that aren t quite as popular as forms such as lotteries and

(2009), The Young Offenders Act, which came into force in 1984, was a highly controversial
statute. While conservative politicians criticized the law for being soft on youth crime, there were
also concerns that, under the YOA, use of courts and custody had risen, and by the early years of

  • 2. Pesticide Dicamba Analysis The article discusses the recent issue of the pesticide dicamba drifting across states. Dicamba is a pesticide used by three Big Ag companies, Monsanto, BASF, and DuPont, which had recently been approved for over the top application, rather than its previous use of applying the pesticide at the base of the plant. The article raises a big question about GMO s, an issue that we have covered in class and in readings. The issues facing the farmers in over twenty five states is one of great importance. Farmers who do not use GMO crops are finding that their crops are being damaged by the pesticide even if they are miles away. It has damaged about 4 percent of all the soybean crops in the United States. Sadly, it has also affected vineyards, watermelons, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Egg Producers in Alberta, Canada Essay INTRODUCTION The chicken industry of Alberta has been around for many years now. Over 300 farms in Alberta are dedicated purely for the production of table eggs, that is the eggs you can buy in the grocery stores. Over the past decades the general way to raise and house these laying chickens has virtually been unchanged. A recent documentary in the province of Alberta broadcasted by the TV program W5 showed a biased view of the way the chickens are housed. This has become a large issue for many animal activists throughout the province. Due to this unfair broadcasting as well as generalization of all table egg producers, the market of eggs are in jeopardy. DEFINITION OF THE PROBLEM There lies a problem in all this, and it may not be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If a bird was uncomfortable it would not want to lay eggs, which is not the case. Because of naГЇve viewers of the documentary there is a push for better living conditions for laying chickens. There is also a risk of boycotting certain types of eggs, or even all eggs in general. This would be very terrible for the egg industry as a whole, from the farmers all the way to the grocery stores. How can a problem such as this be resolved? There are a few new guidelines as far as barns and the size of chicken cages that are being enforced to better the quality of life for the chickens. This means the ages will have more space per bird in each cage, as well as dust baths. SOLUTIONS In order to make a solution to the problem we must identify the actual problem brought to us by all the little problems. The problem that has been distinguished is the general public being unhappy about how today s modern consumption eggs are produced. This was never an issue in the past. All eggs have always been from chickens living in cages, this is the only efficient way to manage and control the feed intake as well as egg collection. It has always been done in this way and now with animal cruelty groups and animal activists it seems this is not a good enough way anymore. Another problem is that since the footage was taken at one farm people believe all farms are managed in this way which blankets all chicken farms under the same category. This is biased thinking and can be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Ttc Attack Case Study Often when someone s temper is aroused, this person will tend to react in a manner that contrasts sharply with their usual behavior and sometimes they may even react quite negatively in particular situations. A momentary decision made in a fit of anger can linger and can even result in negative consequences. Many jobs in which employees work with the public can be more demanding than others and can require a higher level of self control and the ability to provide good customer service under pressure. From waiters and waitresses to police officers, average citizens are challenged and placed in situations they never anticipated that can put their patience and even their their character on trial. Below, we will examine an incident that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many assaults have been recorded against them. As a matter of fact, on average, 500 assaults take place on them per year as of just a few years ago! The attacks typically involve spitting or surface from fare disputes or those who are publicly intoxicated. Injuries range from minor to severe among TTC workers, who often do not return to their job as a result. Patrons may also suffer an injury as a result of the inappropriate actions of TTC workers, which is evident in a case where it s alleged that a TTC driver attacked a public transit passenger over a fare and age disagreement. Apparently, the driver was of the opinion that the fare paid by the student was not satisfied, due to the age of the passenger. It s alleged that the victim s head was pressed against a glass window, which as a result, was broken. How exactly the window became broken wasn t explained in the introductory reports. The Constable with the police who investigated the alleged attack made note that the injuries sustained by the victim to both his head and neck were minor, overall. The victim, though, made the decisions to retain a personal injury lawyer s services, who subsequently advised him to undergo a hospital medical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Dengue Fever And Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever Dengue is believed to have originated in primates before jumping to humans via an insect vector 100 800 years ago in either Southeast Asia or Africa. (cdc.gov/dengue/epidemiology) Dengue became a prevalent issue during the 20th century as a result of the Second World War inadvertently transporting the insect vector from place to place along with cargo. (cdc.gov/dengue /epidemiology) This caused outbreaks in Thailand and the Philippines in the 1950 s and in the 80 s cases began to crop up in Latin America and the Caribbean. (cdc.gov/dengue/symptoms /index.html) The real danger can occur when the patient is beginning to seem to be on the road to recovery. After about a week of infection the fever can suddenly begin to decline and leads to what clinicians call a 48 hour critical window when the patient begins to show the symptoms of dengue hemorrhagic fever. (cdc.gov/dengue/symptoms/index.html) Family members caring for a dengue infected patient need to keep vigil over the person and bring them to hospital immediately if they begin to complain of severe abdominal pain with or without vomiting, vomiting blood, tarry stools, bleeding from the gums or nose red patches on the skin, and signs of shock such as pale, cold, clammy skin, difficulty breathing, drowsiness and/or irritability. The cause of these severe symptoms is during the 48 hour window; even the smallest vessels of the body begin to leak and can lead to catastrophic fluid loss, leading to hypovolemic shock and death. (cdc.gov/dengue/symptoms/index.html) Dengue can only rarely be passed from person to person directly through blood transfusions and mother to fetus transmissions. • 6. Police Officers And The Police Force You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be used against you. Most of us know exactly who says this and what it means. The only problem is that this quote is the extent of our knowledge as an outsider to the Greensboro Police force. I was able to get an inside look at what really happens in a day in the life of an everyday policeofficer. I spent two days at the department observing the officers and riding alongside one in the police car. Throughout my experience I learned that most of the stereotypes I had about police officers were completely wrong. One of the first officers I talked to was Corporal Donaldson, who is also my father. I asked him about his experiences with the general public. He told me that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However despite this there are many more problems that police officers have to deal with like disrespect from the public. I asked the officers what one word is that really stands out to them as blatant disrespect, 90 percent of them told me that word was pig. A pig is a slang term which is used to disrespect a police officer. Most officers say they will just ignore this but according to state law it is illegal to make or use any utterance, gesture, display or abusive language that is intended to and likely to provoke violent retaliation. About 5 of the 20 officers I interviewed told me they have arrested people for repeatedly calling them a pig. Not only is this a normal reply, but most people, including me, do not know that officers can do this. While I was riding around in the patrol car with Officer Hank I saw firsthand that many people do not respect police officers. One person who he pulled over cursed, yelled, and all together disrespected Officer Hank due to their taillight being out after already being warned. Officer Hank told me he was not going to give them a citation before they disrespected him. I also found that when officers where cameras people are less likely to be disrespectful to them. My dad always wears a camera when he is patrolling and besides people pulling the race card disrespect is something he rarely has to deal with. Another key factor is the gender of the officer in ... • 7. The Federal Emergency Relief Act, Tennessee Valley... In 1932 during the worst of the great depression and prior to World War II, President Roosevelt s administration implemented a series of initiatives or legislative reforms that all fell under the New Deal. The flood of New Deal legislation that followed produced major changes in government economy relationships and in government s role in American society generally. (Anderson, 2015, p. 72) Roosevelt s description of the New Dealwas that it would help to provide relief, recovery, and reform; this came to be known as the 3 Rs. Many of the reforms were highly successful like the Federal Emergency Relief Act, Tennessee Valley Authority, Federal Housing Administration and the Social Security Act. Perhaps the problems began there. There were no requirements except for the employees thinking that the families had minimal skills and could figure it out for themselves. Once chosen the families had to decide very quickly if they would be making the move. Due to the short season for farming and building, some families had only days to decide. The following were the guidelines for choosing a family. As far as possible, families should be selected first on their farming ability and secondly, those who may have secondary skills and who may adjust themselves to a diversified farming activity and can assist with carpentry on their homes and then those who may know something about machinery and blacksmithing and who have leadership qualities. The first survey was completed in June of 1934 and FERA agreed to the project in January 1935. It only took only eight weeks after that to acquire the 260,000 acres for the new colony. A month later in late April, the construction workers and supplies were enroute to the valley. Three days later, the first of the colonists left Minnesota! • 8. Biological Structures And Processes Within An Organism... Human s body is constantly under attack by: bacteria, viruses and many other microorganisms, these are called pathogens. Our body is a rich source of water and nutrients that these pathogens need to survive, it is a perfect environment for them to live and develop. Nevertheless, human s body has its own way to protect itself from these invaders, therefore most of the time we remain healthy. Immune systemis a system of many biological structures and processes within an organism that provides a defence against disease. There are three major lines of our defence against pathogens. The first is to prevent their entry by defences of the skin and mucous membranes in the respiratory, digestive and urogenital tracts. If this fails, two internal defences takes over: an initial non specific inflammatory response to injury, or if this unsuccessful, is followed by specific immune response. Two major divisions of the immune response: non specific and specific. (Rowland, 1992) Non specific defence attacks any molecule, which the body recognises as being non self and skin is the first barrier that antigen needs to pass through. The first layer of the skin epidermis, consist of the layer of dead skin cells that lack of water and suitable food, which inhibits the growth of micro organisms inside the epidermis. Sebum, secreted by sebaceous gland in the skin, contains fatty acids, which are toxic to many microorganisms. Areas that are not covered by the skin have alternative ... Positive Effects Of Underdevelopment In Africa underdevelopment in Africa was made possible by positive feedback loops starting with the uneven development in earlier centuries enforced by European constant exploitation of raw materials and human labor from Africa. It traces the root of underdevelopment Africa back to the pre colonial period. The natural path of development from communalism to feudalism and capitalism in Africa was messed up by the European slave trade. The trade in slave was facilitated by African rulers greed for luxury goods and European products. The effect of this trade was devastating in that it caused considerable dislocation and disruption in the local economy, caused internal conflict as a result of slave raiding and a huge loss of African labor. Rodney puts together a biting criticism of Europe s interaction with Africa starting in the 15th century with trading, both the slave trade and the trade in goods. This essentially killed inter Africa trade, forcing African civilizations to only trade with European and other western economies. This also changed the economies of African civilizations to suit what the traders wanted, whether human beings, cotton, or minerals. When European powers grew as a result of the profits from trade, they then carved Africa into its current state and entered the continent to force more and more production of things that would increase profit for the western markets. Banks, industries, and nations prospered by the use of underpaid, sometimes forced African labor. Meanwhile, civilizations fell apart and education came to a stand still. The Importance Of Sustainable Development During the course of the semester, I continue to placed high emphasis on the Brundtland commission because it give birth to the word sustainable development which environmental policy makers continue to relied on to enhance environmental protection. Authors of International Environmental Law and Policy for the 21st century, Nanda and Pring, write, The message of the Brundtland Report was that it is possible to achieve a path of economic development for the global economy which meets the need of the present generation without compromising the chances of future generations to meet their needs (Nanda and Pring 2013, 27). The Brundtland commission provides is a clear indication that society should place emphasis on creating focus create sustainable economic program aimed at providing renewable resources and reduce our consumption of nonrenewable product. To achieve this concept of sustainability, corporations have a leading responsibility to make this a priority to enact policies and implement governmental regulations in achieving sustainability. • 12. The Importance Of Memory And Short-Term Memory Roger goes to his friend s wedding where he is introduced to over 50 people. Roger s goal at this wedding is to meet new people, and remember as many names as he can. In order for him to get their names into long term memory, he first needs to get them past sensory, and short term memory. For him to be able to do this, he needs to come up with some strategies to remember these names. He will learn when it is necessary for him to rehearse the names over in his head, group some of them together, or making connections to the names. By testing out these strategies, we will learn how information moves from sensory memory to short termmemory, and hopefully to long term memory. All information makes it to our sensory memory, but it only lasts less than one second. When Roger got to the wedding, there was probably tons of people in all different outfits, but he will probably never remember any of it. If he were to meet a woman who he thinks is attractive, her outfit could enter his short term memory so he can spot her out later during the party. If we pay attention to the information in our sensory memory, in information is sent on to the second stage, short term memory (Doyle Portillo Pastorino 271). The memory will last only about 20 30 seconds when it reaches the short term memory. Because the short term memory can hold about seven plus or minus two items, Roger could have payed close attention to the color of her eyes and hair too. Maybe when he leaves the ... During this experiment a ghost shrimp represented the open circulatory system, while the black worm represented the closed circulatory system. For each organism there resting heart rates were recorded by count the number of pulsations the organism had under a microscope. First, the shrimp and the worm were treated with caffeine, and then their heart rate was recorded after the organisms were exposed to the treatment for three minutes. The organisms were removed from the caffeine, and were given time to return back to their resting heart rates. The shrimp and the worm were then exposed to ethanol, and there hear rates were recorded again.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the shrimp was exposed to the caffeine the heart rate increased by 50.4 beats, and when the shrimp was exposed to the ethanol the heart rate decreased by 34.8 beats. The average increase in heart rate was 11.83 beats, and the average decrease in heart rate was 7.5 beats. From this data we can conclude that caffeine acted as a chemical stimulant and speed up how frequently the heart was pumping blood into the system. • 14. Theories About The Conceptual Nature Of Institutions... Introduction: Sociologists have various theories about the conceptual nature of institutions throughout Sociology, One such institution is family. Some concepts include; The Nuclear Family; The privatisation of the Family; and Structural Functionalism. These three concepts coincide with one another. Families can be found in various cultures and society in some form or another. Schaefer (2009) defines the family as a set of people related by blood, marriage or some other agreed upon relationship, or adoption, who share the primary responsibility for reproduction and caring for members of society. The family serves different functions in society, depending upon which sociological theory is applied to it, even though the family itself remains the same, despite operating under alternating perspectives. Speaking in a broader sense, the functionalist perspective has mainly focused on the operations of family within society, and the way it s functions affect various members. It looks at family as an institution, regarding how it maintains itself, including key aspects such as order, stability, and its personal significance of individual members. Two of the more well known functionalists are George. P. Murdock and Talcott Parsons. Murdock (1949). conducted a sociological study of the family involving 250 different families from around the world. Using the analysis from this study he argues that the family operates using four basic functions, for each of the individual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ancient Cyberspace Michael Galantini Professor Bissex Intro Political Philosophy April 25, 2015 Modern vs. Ancient in Cyberspace The Big Bang created the energy and matter to create the universe, and Bob Kahn and Vint Cerf invented TCP and IP which created the protocols that built the internet. Without the aforementioned, technically cyberspace couldn t exist, but the fact that it does exist, it not only has physical components in an electric, virtual world, but it can effectively become an intangible idea which is debated and analyzed. What makes the internet somewhat unique is that it is an artificial alternative realm where we humans can think, speak, and act. We have unique lives on the internet and web. We can search for info in an encyclopedia, post photos, stream music, start revolutions, buy drugs and weapons, and hack the pentagon, all through an electric system connected to billions of other devices. Those who connect to the internet all bear liberty to act, in an almost state of nature way. Yet, you are subject to the internet as soon as you are connected. Thus, based on the evolution of the Internet, certainly different political philosophers would have competing visions, ancient versus modern, about its current state and how to handle political or governing policies moving forward. To be able to properly analyze and apply political theories to a cyber realm, we must understand that connecting to the internet is much like a social contract. Yet people also do things requiring perception and thought unconsciously even when they are awake. A person can be conscious of their physical surroundings, pain and even a wish or fantasy. In short a creatureis conscious if it is aware of itself and that it is a physical and emotional being. For instance the earlier views around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They held that consciousness was involved with every working mental state. In this view the mind is transparent to itself that is, it can perceive it s own activity. For three centuries self transparence was the defining feature of the mind. That conception was sprung through the theories of Wilhelm Wundt and Edward Titchener who were advocates off a science of introspection. Early in the 20th century the transparency doctrine came to a setback for three different reasons. The first reason was Sigmund Freud s compelling evidence that some very important mental activity is not only subconscious but firmly resists conscious access through repression. At first Freud s idea of unconscious was treated as self contradictory, but it has since won acceptance as being useful and entirely possible. the second difficulty for the transparency doctrine was that it made the mind impossible for objective science. What is known introspectively to a single person would be utterly private and therefore can not be viewed scientifically. Scientific method demands objectivity and reportable data. The behaviorists John B. Watson and B.F. Skinner and the philosopher Gilbert Ryle rebelled against the idea of an inner sense and denied the very existence of consciousness in the strong sense exhibited by Locke, Descartes and the introspective psychologists.3 Ryle insisted that mind is an illusory concept and that it is ... Roosevelt, Congress, and the New Deal Prompt: Even though people consider him one of the most powerful executives in US governmental history, FDR had to deal with the other branches of government just like other presidents. How did he disagree with Congress early on in the New Deal? How did he disagree with them late in the New Deal? The founders certainly crafted much of the current form and function (as well as the way it was in the 1930 s and 1940 s) with the idea that no single person or body would have too much power in the government. Having a legislative body that must pass the laws, a President who can push an agenda but not on his own and a judicial body that makes sure that laws pass constitutional muster is essential to prevent unethical (or even tyrannical) events to occur. Certainly, FDR was no tyrant. Like most Presidents, he didn t have a large swath of Congress that was eager to do his legislative bidding like President Barack Obama enjoyed from 2007 to 2010 when he and his fellow Democrats controlled the House, Senate and the Presidency, the latter of those four years being when the Affordable Care Act was passed. FDR certainly was dealt a blow when the opposing party won thirteen governorships, doubled their strength in the House and gained eight new seats in the Senate in 1938 . What most of these people do not realize is that a simple flight is in reality a well oiled, complex machine unlike any other air navigation service provider in the world. After the Wright brothers took their first successful flight, America embraced air travel. The Federal Aviation Agency (now Administration) officially began operations in May of 1958, and later developed a sophisticated air traffic control system that is responsible for the largest volume of air traffic in the world ( A Brief History of the FAA ). Today, however, many politicians believe that government involvement in air traffic control is inhibiting the overall performance of air traffic control. Several bills have been proposed to Congress since the 1970s in attempt to separate air traffic control (referenced as ATC) from the FAA by privatization, corporatization, or other means (Elias 2). The most recent of these bills has caused serious debate in the aviation world over economic policies, safety regulations, and overall effectiveness of the current ATC system. The Aviation Innovation, Reform, and Reauthorization Act (21st Century AIRR Act) as proposed by Representative Bill Shuster should not be passed by Congress because it would privatize air traffic control by removing it from the Federal Aviation Administration. • 29. Thomas Edison Qualities Throughout history, the world has seen it fair share of leaders across the globe, from resilient presidents to evil dictators. When the word leader is thrown around, the names Barack Obama and Martin Luther King Jr. are often used as its definition, but a leader is rarely so cut and dry. A leader defines itself, blazing its own path and helping others follow the lead. This thought can be demonstrated in Thomas Edison. A true leader in his field, Edison transformed the world we know today and how it came to be. The humble light bulb, taken for granted in the modern age, was once revolutionized by Edison, who innovated the design to make the bulb burn brighter for longer. He was responsible for the most primitive assembly line, but it did not produce cars or consumer goods, it produced ideas on a consistent basis. Edison is often credited with the discovery of the research lab, which applied the principles of mass production to ideas and employed large scale teamwork. Throughout his life, Edison would often fail, but would always have the creativity and persistence to solve the next problem placed in his lap. He wanted to make a change in the world and without that will power, the United States may not be as advanced as it is today. When telling a story, people often exaggerate details, characters and other events in the story in order to make it more interesting. Why do people do this? Do they do it because they feel that the story lacked something and needs to be expanded upon, or is it something else. This way of telling a story is especially prevalent in Tim O Brien s book The Things They Carried, which is a collection of stories about the Vietnam war. When O Brien uses an oxymoron, it s usually when he wants to make a point on the fact that both of these truths aren t exactly true, like when he says, In many cases a true war story cannot be believed. If you believe it, be skeptical. It s a question of credibility. Often the crazy stuff is true and the normal stuff isn t, because the normal stuff is necessary to make you believe the truly incredible craziness. (68). What he is essentially saying is, when creating a story, adding believable parts is neccessary for a story to make sense. Another time he explains that regardless of how good a story seems to be, there has to be parts made up because a true war story is never good, A true war story is never moral. It does not instruct, nor encourage virtue, nor suggest models of proper human behavior, ... If a story seems moral, do not believe it. If at the end of a war story you feel uplifted, ... then you have been made the victim of a very old and terrible lie (O Brien 65). This leads back in to the differences between happening and story truth, by explaing the way that story truth is used to ground a story in reality for a reader, rather than simply expanding on details like in happening truths. Even though it might not be something fancy, we still have to admit to it because it is the only way to find your true self and admit it. She asserts that we are proud of ourselves when we believe in our true self. On the other hand, we might doubt ourselves all the time if we don t believe in our true self. I totally agree with her ideas. Her first idea seems to me that negative thoughts can easily change a person. For instance, I want to become a famous singer. The Salem Tragedy of 1692 was a cumulative downfall, wherein no singular person was responsible, but instead everybody was in his or her own way. At this time in history the people of Massachusetts were like dominos, rigidly set up in lines across the board, but all too close for comfort. So close to the tipping point, that one small factor would send them all hurtling over the edge. Though the Salem tragedy was a group effort, one such member played a higher role in the destruction. Judge Danforth, the epitome of theocracy at the time believed you were either for God, or you were not, and there was no road in between. This quickly caused destruction as the system of society began to turnon itself. Polymers come in two distinctly different chemical make ups, thermoplastics, which can be reheated, reworked, and recycled, and thermosets, which once cured are completely locked into place and and cannot be recycled ( The Basics ). The long chains of covalent bonds makes the compounds so strong that they will only undergo a process called photodegradation. This photodegradation means that over time the polymers will simply break into smaller and smaller pieces, never completely going away ( The Basics ). These small pieces containing chemical toxins gravely endanger wildlife who confuse these pellets for food. Plastics are still relatively new materials, their potential not fully reached. I was able to observe a short tempered spell while she was in gym class. Nyla came out of class because she wanted water. Her mom wouldn t let her drink from the water fountain because it s germy . Nyla started whining and crying so her dad went next door to the store to buy her some water. Nyla returned to gymnastics happy. Both of Nyla s parents normally accompany her to dance/gym glass. It has been suggested that fathers attachment role during the preschooler years helps to challenge the child in a supportive context that complements the mother s role in caring and comforting (Roggman et al. 2002). Nyla s teacher also indicated that when Nyla gets too hot playing she will take a break and hold conversations with teachers. Once she is cooled off, she is back to playing with her friends. It seems that Nyla is knowledgeable enough to when her body needs to take a break, and she indicates that she is mature enough to know when she is physically ready to return to play without abusing this break. This particular day holds personal significance to me: it falls on the day I was born. I will be the first to admit that I have had some strange birthdays. In January 2015, I auditioned for the school play: Hairspray. Although I ve never considered myself musically talented, somehow, I recieved the role I requested and was ecstatic. • 48. A Critique on Freakonomics, A Nobel by Levitt and Dubner In Levitt and Dubner s novel, Freakonomics, they deal with the sensitive subject of abortions in chapter four. During this section, Levitt and Dubner are purposing that the drop of crime is not because of the many popular ideas they address but instead because of abortions becoming legalized. Providing proof to their argument, they list out all the popular ideas that many people believe to be the cause of the drop in crime and then one by one explain why these ideas could not fit into the massive crime drop. After explaining the list of popular ideas, they finally come out and state what their take on the crime drop is and explaining why they believe this explanation instead of the ones listed before (115 145).
