Memory, to show how society s stereotypes restrict happiness and lead to negativity. Truman Capote
uses negative imagery to explain how prejudice could potentially negatively influence people s
happiness. In A Christmas Memory, Buddy, the main character, and his aunt were baking fruitcakes.
They need to get whiskey to finish their fruitcake. They ask Mr. Haha, a supposed evil man for it.
Society labeled him with the name Haha because he s so gloomy, a man who never laughs ... [his]
large log cabin festooned inside out with chains of garish gay light bulbs ... where moss drifts through
