Essay on Walt Whitman s Song of Myself
Walt Whitman s Song of Myself
This paper deals with Walt Whitman s Song of Myself in relation to Julia Kristeva s theories of
abjection my paper does not point to abjection in the text, but rather the significance of the abscence
of abjection. This abscence, looming and revolting, arises from Whitman s attemt to refigure a
conception of sublimity which delimits the material which can trigger the sublime moment. Whitman
s democracy of the sublime is inclusive of those figures on the American landscape, their lives and
voices, which are functionalized into his world. This paper employs the theories of George Lukacs and
Julia Kristeva allow the unearthing of the archeological layers of Whitman s text.

It lies there, quite close, but it cannot be assimilated. It beseeches, worries, and fascinates desire,
which, nevertheless, does not let itself be seduced. [1]
The strange elegance of this specter looms in the relief, in the archaic layers of Song of Myself. It is
beyond the foregrounded inversive space at times utopic and sublime, the space is permeated with
universal brotherhood, happiness, the compelled sentimental that I attempt to delve into, that source
from which generates the repulsive, hidden quivering of a text which, though cast out and forced into
absence, looms in the shadowed relief. The edification of his text and of his readership is attempted
through the construction of an inversive space which refigures the sublime: the apex of the cultured. I
have chosen those moments in the text in which the poet nears the threshold of bordering abject in
order to construct his sublime utopian vision. It is here, this marked refigurement where ecstasy
occurs, where material which triggers the sublime is the signal of another text; a repulsive reading
looms from the absence of abjection
An invocation of the self begins Song of Myself, positioning the text as an edification of the American
readership: I celebrate myself, and sing myself, And what assume you shall assume, For every atom
belonging to me as god belongs to you (lines 1 3). Thus Whitman s work joins with the

The Importance Of Writing For New York Times
Writing for New York Times is just such a great blessing and accomplishment. Ever since I was little I

The Study Of Psychology And Psychology
Firstly, it is important to know what is meant by the term science , and then to establish whether
psychology adheres to this. The Oxford English Dictionary defines science as the study or knowledge
of the physical world, based on observation and experiment . This immediately raises issues about this
debate as many areas of psychological research do not involve the observable. For example, the areas
of Clinical and Counselling psychology rely on a patient s thoughts and feelings to help determine
whether they suffer from a mental disorder. Owing to an advancement in technology, however,
phenomena that was once labelled as unobservable can now be observed. One example of this
includes emotions, including happiness, sadness, disgust, fear, ... Show more content on

This, however, should not be taken at face value as these bodies would not want to portray themselves
as being unscientific. Nevertheless, there is an overall positive effect of the psychological bodies
seeing themselves as scientific as empirical research will be promoted further, making psychology as a
subject more scientific.
Furthermore, psychology has become more scientific by the need to move away from pseudo
scientific perspectives. One such perspective, is Freud s Psychodynamic approach. This focuses on the
subconscious mind, and as this phenomena cannot be observed, it has been argued that the
Psychodynamic perspective is unfalsifiable and untestable. Both of these elements are key parts of
what makes a science. However, others have argued that the Psychodynamic perspective is testable,
but that it has just failed those tests (Hansson, 2015). review
The Behavioural perspective was the first to try and move psychology as a subject away from the
unscientific by focusing on observable and measurable behaviour to gain empirical evidence.
Moreover, since the 1970s, the Biological perspective has grown hugely with neuropsychology now
being a dominant approach. This shows that psychology has made a move to become more scientific
in its approaches and methods over time. review

The Clay Marble Essay
Having courage is a trait that helps everyone. Many people are born with courage and don t need to
learn how to gain it. In The Clay Marble by Minfong Ho, the main character, Dara, is exceedingly
scared at the beginning of the story and doesn t have much courage. Throughout the story, Dara is
forced to become brave, find her family, and get rid of her fears, ultimately demonstrating true
courage. In the beginning of the story, Dara was especially scared because of the genocide and had
trouble adapting to her new lifestyle. When Dara, her brother, Sarun, and their mother first reached the
Nong Chan refugee camp, Dara was tinged with fright, hesitation, and the lack of courage to live in a
new way. As Dara wakes up on her first full day at Nong Chan, she states, Quietly I walked over to
them [Nea (her friend) and Mom] and sat down in my mother s lap. With her warmth behind me, and
the flames in front of me, I felt snug and secure, (pg. 23 24). This supports my claim because it shows
that Dara likes to be secure. When her entire life is shaken up, she feels she needs that security back.
That security, for her, was found in her mother. At this point in the the story, Dara made no attempt to
make new friends or do anything besides be right by her mother. As the storyline moved on, Dara

continued looking [and searching] even after the sun had set, (pg. 72) This quote supports Dara s
increasing bravery because it shows Dara being incredibly courageous and having the will to find her

My Favorite Motto
Do not be afraid . That is my favorite motto to live by because every day, everyone faces some sort of
fear. This short phrase reminds me to stay brave and focus on the good in my life and all around me.
In my life, my greatest love is my family and friends. These 2 things keep me happy in life and they
are all I need to get through anything in my life and help me follow my motto. These 2 things are also
the things I treasure most in my life. In my friends, I value their ability to make me laugh, no matter
the circumstances. There is not a day in my life where my friends don t make me laugh. My greatest

One thing people always compliment is my hair, so I think that it s my most marked characteristic.
However, the thing I dislike most about my appearance is my height; that s another thing people
always comment on. One thing I would change about myself is my confidence level. I am always
doubting myself and if I could, it would be the thing I would change. As for my family, I would
change how loud we are. We are always talking really loudly and it s something I don t like most of
the time. The characteristic I like most in a woman is her humor; I always like when people can make
me laugh. As for a man, I like when they are goodhearted. One trait I deplore in myself is my laziness.
I always want to get out and do things, but I use my laziness as an excuse, and that s something I hate.
In others, the trait I most deplore is unfriendliness. Phrases that I overuse are you know what? , OMG ,
like , why not? . Some people in my life impact it more then they know. In my life, my biggest heroes
are my parents. They are someone that I can always look up to for advice, laughter, and happiness. A
person in my life I admire is my brother. He is always there for me and isn t afraid to work for what he
wants, stand up for what he believes in, and share his thoughts and opinions, all the time. He always
knows how to make me happy, no matter the circumstances. I don t have a historical figure that I

With reference to one major international conflict, analyse and assess the geographical impacts of
conflicts on the area (40) A conflict is a disagreement caused by the actual or perceived opposition of
needs, values and interests between people; which can vary in intensity from political non violent
activity, to direct action and violence. When a conflict is created an extensive list of geographical
impacts follow, including social, political, environmental or even international impacts. For centuries
there was no such conflict. In the 19th century the land of Palestine was inhabited by a multicultural
population, approximately 86% Muslim, 10% Christian, and 4% Jewish living in peace. However, in
the late 1800s a group in Europe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, Palestinians will lose nearly 18% of their share of the basin s water. The sandy desert soil
tends to absorb water and other pollutants such as sewage easily. This along with the groundwater
remaining fairly close to the surface leads to easy contamination. This combined with an aging, poorly
maintained, and now war damaged sewage system, has led to groundwater pollution, which could
severely affect the lives of many. Secondly, the close relation between the social and environmental
impacts that this Middle Eastern conflict is creating for the citizens of both Palestine and Israel
becomes evident. In 2010, UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) reported that, almost all of
Gaza s 13,000 families who depend on farming, herding and fishing have suffered damage to their
assets during the recent conflict and many farms have been completely destroyed. Owing to a limited
agricultural production, people in Gaza are facing an acute shortage of nutritious, locally produced
and affordable food. Over 10,000 Palestinian men, women, and children are held in Israeli prisons.

Capital Punishment And Life Effects On Society And The...
The killings of numerous people by one single offender is unfortunately a phenomenon society is
forced to face with, and the punishment of these offenders can cause great debate among society and
the justice system. The criminal justice field is heavily influenced by these rare offenders because
there is no concrete course of action that is taken in these cases. The most frequent consequences used
for these offenders includes the offender being given a capital punishment charge, or given a life
imprisonment charge. Both capital punishment and life imprisonment have their own set of
advantages and disadvantages. When speaking of multiple murderers, there are 3 different forms in
which one may be speaking of. These can consist of mass murderers, spree murderers, and serial
murderers. Many different components come into play when forming a multiple murderer. A person s
biological and psychological factors, along with a person s environment and life experiences can
potentially create the configuration of a multiple murderer. For example, a person who is born into a
cycle of violence in which they are abused as children, may actually grow up to exhibit similar
abusive patterns as well and contribute to the presence of antisocial personality disorder developing
(Siegel 2015). This can have dramatic influence over the course of the person s life, and how the
person chooses to express themselves. Offenders also may have very different motives from one
another for committing these

Elementary Secondary Education Act Of 1965 And Its...
Education is valued as one of the most important aspects of socio economic group mobilization and
social elevation in the United States. Operating under a human capital ideology education in the U.S.
is a means to provide education to individuals in an effort for continued economic advancement for
our nation. However, as times change education fails to completely change with it. Secondary
education is no longer seen as a means to earning financial stability. Primary education encompasses
complexity of issues that still remain to be addressed wholly. With the creation of the U.S.
Constitution states are given power to construct education. Educational reform continues to be
complex with ever changing politicians and platforms failing to have the time to create long lasting
systematic changes but also not fully grasp educational challenges collectively. Educational reform
such as Elementary Secondary Education Act of 1965 and its versions No Child Left Behind Act and
Every Child Succeeds Act 2015 has changed the way students learn and teachers teach. The need for
continued educational innovations is of the utmost importance. We as a society continue to strive for
creating organizational policies and pedagogies that not only enhance research but a allow for a
greater society understanding and applicability to enhance education for millions.

Rorschach Measures Of Cognition And Social Functioning Essay
Introduction An estimated 62.7$ billion per year is paid by society for the care and treatment of people
with schizophrenia even though they only make up .4% of the population leading to the need for
further study of schizophrenia (Moore et al., 2013). Three researchers from Alliant International
University and two researchers from University of California San Diego; Moore, Viglione, Rosenfarb,
Patterson and Mausbach, decided to look at the relationships between thought disorder, psychological
complexity, and interpersonal representations with daily and social functioning in people with
schizophrenia (2013). Moore et. Al. (2013) start their article, Rorschach measures of cognition relate
to everyday and social functioning in schizophrenia by explaining why their investigation into thought
disorder is warranted using previous findings and what they hope to get out of this qualitative study.
Moore et al (2013) had four hypothesis; that thought higher levels of thought disorder would correlate
with lower levels of functioning. Second, the greater functioning the person the higher psychology
complexity the subject would have. Third, patients with the lowest daily levels of function would have
the highest thought disorder in combination with the lowest psychological complexity. Lastly, and the
most interesting was that healthy relationships would be positively correlated with a higher social
skills function ability. Newman (2011) explains the differences between

signature for all of his killings. After many killings, Rader now sits behind prison bars, never to see

He was an assembler for the Coleman Company from 1972 to 1973. Then in 1974 Rader worked at a
Wichita office which dealt with ADT Security Systems, the company s main idea was was selling and
installing commercial alarm systems. All according to Marilyn Bardsley, this is how Rader learned to
disable home security systems. He would later use this knowledge in his killings. Rader s first victims
were the Otero family, a family of four. As reported by Juan Ignacio, he did not know these people
before committing the murder which he said was a part of his fantasy. Dennis broke into the family s
house by coming in through the unlocked back door and cutting the phone lines. He confronted the
family at gunpoint and took them into a bedroom. Rader then tied all of them up with rope and
individually suffocated them one by one. He then took the family s car keys and drove away in escape.
After a killing, Dennis was famous for sending letters to the police and local news. His letters
described the specific way of his killings. He would anonymously send multiple letters each with very
specific details of his crimes. According to Steven Singular, his first letter was hidden in an
engineering book in the Wichita Library in 1974. This letter described the murder of the Otero family
in detail. Later in 1978, Rader sent a letter to the KAKE television station claiming he was responsible

Assessment And Assessment Of Assessment
Assessment is used to document learning and to plan our next steps. There is evidence of constructive,
specific feedback that is linked to the lesson objectives. Teachers plan assessments to learn what
students have knowledge of and what they need to practice on. Assessment use in the classroom
allows both the students and teachers to see if goals of education are being met. Assessments affect a
variety of things such as the grades students have, instructional needs, and placement in classes.
Assessments can reveal more than just if a student knows the material or not, assessments can also
reveal a students strengths and weaknesses. The student may be able to answer all questions correctly
on a multiple choice test, but then fails an essay questions because they are unable to explain
themselves due to the lack of knowledge of the content. Assessments are a great way to receive data
on the student s knowledge, but making sure the teacher is using the right and appropriate assessment
can be a major factor. My CT gives a variety of assessments when determining the level of
understanding students have reached for the content being taught. When assessing our class, we look
for if students have mastered a topic, need more review, or if something needs to be retaught. Often
my CT will teach a lesson and give a formative assessment whether it be on an online testing website,
by paper test, or having them write short passages about the content. If she analyzes the data and it

Essay Comparing Larkin And Elizabeth Jennings
In this essay I shall explore the way poets Phillip Larkin and Elizabeth Jennings both show love. For
Larkin I shall look at An Arundel tomb and Wild Oats and for Jennings I shall look at Absence and
Disguises.
I will consider the way in which the two poets deal with the idea of love as timeless.I will also explore
themes of authenticity and identity in their poems about love. In addition I will consider the extent to
which their gender may have affected their view of love.
In similarities I think that An Arudel Tomb and Absence are both about the unbreakable bond of love
regardless of the period of time.Disguises and Wild Oats are different because Disguises talks about
regret and not being ones true self Wild Oats on the other hand talks about promiscuity. However,
there are some similarities in the sense of him not pursing his real love Is not being himself.
Larkin was born in 1922 in an Industrial city which was heavily bombed during World War II. This

Larkin seems to feel inferior towards his bosomy English rose . Larkin uses figurative language to

qualties. However he is only seeing the bright, soft petals of the rose is overlooking the less romantic,
thorny stem that s underneath. Rose become a symbol of shallow , purely physical sex. This gives the
audience the feeling that Larkin isn t interested in true love. The structure of the poem also tells that it

Wal-Mart Ethics Essay
Wal Mart Stores, Inc. is currently entangled in a legal battle that will decide if the company has
engaged willfully in gender based discrimination. Underlying causes, organizational culture and
ethical issues will be examined in determining how the largest private employer in the United States
could have fallen prey to unfair labor practices. In 1999, women constituted 72% of Wal Mart s hourly
employees, but only 33% of its managerial employees (Bhatnagar, 2004). This fact and many others
are the reasons many people allege that Wal Mart has unfair labor practices. The Dukes v. Wal Mart
case challenged the hiring, promotion and pay practices of Wal Mart. The case was filed in June 2001.

Another root cause of Wal Mart s problem is their lack of a formal job posting policy. Associates are
not made aware of management level openings. Those who selected to move up in the organization
are picked by store and division level management staff without regard to skill or educational
requirements. This system is described as a tap on the shoulder process (Betty Dukes v. Wal Mart
Stores, Inc 2004). Another underlying problem for Wal Mart is the company s policy to promote from
within the company. This reinforces the organizational bad culture and practices.
There are many unresolved issues with Wal Mart that have made the news. The hourly pay scale for
employees at the store level is below the Federal poverty level, many of the employees can t afford
health care, and inequality of hiring women for management positions. The average Wal Mart
employee earns $8.00 an hour, with the average work week being about 32 hours. This equates to
$256 a week or $13,312 a year. The Federal poverty level for a family of three is $14,630 (Brownstein
2005). Wal Mart s personnel polices are directed to keep wages cheap. Wal Mart does this so they can
maximize their profits. The health benefits for a Wal Mart employee costs 20% of the average
employee s paycheck. Of their 1.2 million employees, 2/3 of the employees can t afford the health
benefits. Over the last 12 years,

Christian Vs Ephesians
Christianity is not an ideal, it s a lifestyle choice. You are not born into a religion, you are not a
Christian, Jewish, Buddhist or any specific religion from birth, you are raised as to be that religion.
C.S. Lewis is an example of someone who was brought up in a Protestant household, lost faith
through his teen years and found Christianity in college. We develop our religion throughout our
years, growing more knowledgeable from our experiences and realizing that each of God s teachings
can relate back to us on a day to day basis. Each book in the Bible is like stories with a lesson. Mere

which was a fulfillment in Christ. The first two sections of the Nicene Creed are about God and Jesus.
The sections talk of God being the Father and Jesus is the only Son of God, then further down talks

A brief review of Marine Isotope stages
Introduction
The creation of marine isotope stages we know today was a carminative effort between several
scientists and research institutions across decades. It first started with Cesare Emiliani who transferred
to the University of Miami s Institute of Marine Science in 1957. Emiliani had been investigating the
cause and nature of Quaternary glaciations by examining foraminifera fossils from the marine
sedimentary record for the Pleistocene Age. Moving to the University of Miami offered new
opportunities for Emiliani to work with ongoing drilling projects and trained individuals. Emiliani s
work was heavily influenced by Harold Urey s 1947 work on ... Show more content on

Oxygen isotope ratios change in the ocean primarily due to precipitation and evaporation. When water
evaporates from the surface, lighter 16O is preferentially removed and turned into vapor while the
heavier 18O is preferentially left behind. With time, this causes the ocean to be 16O depleted or 18O
enriched. If the cloud precipitates out, the first isotopes to be released are the heavier 18O while the
16O remain as vapor. It is important to note that complete precipitation or evaporation results in no
fractionation since all molecules of water are precipitated or evaporated out. Rayleigh fractionation
occurs as the water vapor moves poleward and begins precipitating out the heavier isotopes until the
vapor is progressively more enriched in light isotopes (Figure 1). The lighter isotopes can then be
stored as terrestrial ice. This mechanism explains how on long timescales the oxygen isotope ratio can
change when forming or collapsing large ice sheets. Because the changes in the isotopic ratio are so
small, delta notion was adopted with the use of an international standard. The original standard,
adopted in 1968 by the International Atomic Energy Agency, was called Standard Mean Ocean Water
(SMOW) but has been retired for the current standard Vienna Standard Mean Ocean Water
(VSMOW). The calculation for δ18O is defined as follows: δ^18 O=[(〖(_^18)O/(_^16)O

Sickle Cell Disease ( Ocd )
Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) is an inherited autosomal recessive condition that causes the red blood cells
(RBCs) to be crescent shaped. Sickle cell disease occurs in 1 out of every 400 African Americans
births (Field, et al 2009). And according to the Centers of Disease Prevention and Control (CDC), 1
out of 13 African American babies are born with the sickle cell trait (SCT). At the same time SCD is
present in only 1 out of 300 Caucasian babies, thus it is considered to be one of the most prevalent
genetic health disparities affecting people of African, Indian, Hispanic, and Mediterranean decent
(Kotch, et al 2000).
In order for a person to have this disease, both parents have to carry the Sickle Cell Trait. This trait is
given to the parents by their parents in which one of them has the sickle cell gene S and the other has
the normal A gene. Children are diagnosed with SCD as early as 4 months old and accurately
diagnosed by the age of 6 months old.
Normal RBCs are disc shaped in which they are able to easily travel throughout the body, especially
through the tiniest blood vessels. However, with sickled shaped RBCs, they clump together while
flowing through these particularly small vessels, which causes the loss of oxygen throughout the
tissues and organs. This monogenetic disease is caused by a point mutation in the β globin gene that
creates abnormal Hemoglobin S (HbS). There are five different haplotypes for SCD that are classified
by their geographical region

In literature, postcolonialism is the study of post colonial theories that ask the reader to notice the
effects of colonization or the extension power into other nations, have on people. In post colonial
theories, the term subaltern is the nickname to populations which are far cry from the power of the

Can The Subaltern Speak?
Spivak s essay Can the Subaltern Speak? is originally published in Cary Nelson and Lawrence
Grossberg s Marxist and the Interpretation of culture(1988).(3)
In this essay, Spivak encourages and motivates but at the same time, she criticizes the effort of the
subaltern studies group in establishing a voice. As a feminist, Spivak wants to give a voice for those
who used to be silent. She describes how colonists prove their well intentioned in India differentiating
between British civilization and Indian Barbarism .
In her work, she joins her disapproval of the abuse against women, non Europeans, and the poor by
the wealthy west. Spivak faces in her essay epistemic violence done by sermons of knowledge that
shape the whole world. This epistemic violence is like a curse over subjects of discourses. It is similar
to Edward Said idea(1935 2003; public intellectual and founder of the academic field of postcolonial
studies).(4)His idea of otherness in Orientalism display the bigotry of western scholars who write in a
biased way about the East in order to create

Accounting Information Systems
Chapter One
As accounting students we have studied a variety of accounting areas involving financial and taxes.
The accounting information course appears to be a course that heads in a different direction then what
we as students have become accustomed to. Speaking for myself I have always been drawn to the
accounting field because it is a black and white area. In other words, there it is organized and has right
and wrong answers, this leaving out the gray areas between right and wrong.
Accounting information systems appears to be throwing us into a whole new area of the study of
accounting. The fine line between right and wrong is becoming smudged into a gray area. With
accounting information system we are being thrown into an area ... Show more content on

One of the groups is sponsored/commercial information that has the main interest of making a profit
by selling products and their services. The second type is going to be popular/practitioner information
and is put through a review process. Both of these groups can be bias but the second group will
usually be trustworthy. However, we will need to keep in mind that the writer of the second group may
have a motive. The third group is the scholarly information group which also has been put through a
review process. This third group is written by people with higher degrees and can be hard for
undergraduates to interpret. Information on accounting information systems will need to be reviewed
and looked over carefully to make sure that it is valid information and something that we should really
consider before it is used.
I have chosen these points in the text as important ones because the conceptual framework is one that
we should become familiar with because it should be there throughout our education and follow us
into our careers because it was developed to be used as a guide for any future accounting principle.
The construction of an accounting information system is also important because we are going to need
to know what the accounting information system is constructed of because there may be a day that we
will be asked to help with the development and we should know the basic concept of it and what it is.

Hitcher, Education For Leisure, My Last Duchess, and The Lab
Hitcher, Education For Leisure, My Last Duchess, and The Lab
Hitcher By Simon Armitage, Education For Leisure By Carol Anne
Duffy, My Last Duchess and The Lab by Robert Browning are all poems that deal with violence or the
prospect of violence.
Hitcher is a poem about a man who is angry at being threatened with the sack, he picks up a hitch
hiker and kills him and then leaves him on the road side. The poetic voice seems to be psychotic and
also talks about the attack in a casual manner.
Ed for Leisure also deals with a bitter person who feels he has been let down by society. As he
becomes increasingly demotivated, he gets more and more violent ending with leaving the house with
a bread knife. Both poets aim to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Simple and direct language is used by Armitage to demonstrate the characters casual attitude to
violence. It is also used in Ed for Leisure to help create the short staccato lines such as Today I am
going to kill something. Anything.
Both poems by Robert Browning are dramatic monologues, The Lab is a mixture of the main
characters thoughts and her words to the apothecary. She seems very similar to the main characters in
both Ed for Leisure and Hitcher as an insane twisted side of her character is exposed...
The lady in The Laboratory is plotting to murder the mistress of her lover and seems very excited
about the prospect of death. In asking the apothecary, Wot that I bid you spare her the pain; she shows
that she wants her victim to die slowly and painfully. This demonstrates a craving for violence like the
characters in Armitage and Duffy s poems. As well as sharing the structure of a dramatic monologue,
The Lab is also arranged in stanzas like the previous two poems and contains rhyme like Hitcher . The
second poem by Robert
Browning is called My Last Duchess like the other 3 poems it is a dramatic monologue and shares the
same rhyme scheme as The Lab . The poetic voice talks about how his wife was too flirtatious and
how it was not only him that brought smiles to her face. After a while, he grew tired of not being
appreciated, gave orders and her smile stopped all together.

Conflict Management can often be the toughest task for a leader to handle. It involves dealing with
inter personal and intra personal conflict. As a team leader of a technical event called Pulse 09 at my
university, I had to deal with conflicts on a regular basis. Conflicts usually arise either due to lack of
effective communication, different ideologies, lack of resources or due to task interdependence [3]. It
was by far my most life changing experience as it taught me the reason behind conflicts and the way
to resolve them. In this paper, I will be talking about the way I dealt with conflicts and managed them,

Members began to work more for the success of their groups and indirectly contributed to the success
of Pulse 09. Communication was not an issue anymore and meetings were held regularly. There were
times when the groups met more than once during the week to discuss individual progress. Team
meetings saw less of conflicts and more of a productive discussion that was aimed at the success of
the event. Incorporating a reward system, I guess was the key that created a sense of healthy
competition amongst the individual groups and made the members strive towards the goal. As the
event came closer, the more positive I felt about the success of Pulse 09. The last meetings focused on
bringing together the work done by individual groups. The norms remained the same and thus, the
productivity of the team as a whole too didn t seem to lessen. The event was a huge success and was
listed amongst the top 10 technical festivals to attend in the Times of India newspaper. When I think
back now, I feel I could have done a better job in showcasing my leadership skills. Especially after
attending the leadership class, I could have done a lot differently. It was my first time as a leader and
no doubt I had done a good job, but with experience I definitely feel that I could have executed a
better leadership style at the event. If given a chance again, I would definitely be aware of the

Taboo as defined the dictionary is: banned on grounds of morality or taste. Taboo topics in cult film

gender roles among others. They showcase these taboos in an excess manner. The following films
have not only discussions of taboo subjects but depict taboo acts. The films Eraserhead and Pink

the characters in the film (137). This statement alone, about the characters, is enough to know this film
has crossed some lines. There is excess in the amount of taboos presented in this film including
bestiality, incest, cannibalism, and rape among many others. Some social taboos broken are worse
than others. While Divine holds the title of filthiest person alive it is her family that allows her to
reach that title. It is more so her son, Cracker that does or is involved in the worse taboo actions. His
act of bestiality with his chickens is much worse than Divine smuggling raw meat between her legs or
running a jogger off the road. Her most taboo act would be the incestuous act of fellating her son,
second to that being her murder of the Marble couple. The Marble couple on the other hand are
predators. Between their kidnapping of girls in order to impregnate them and sell their babies and his
flashing of his genitals to unsuspecting girls on the street, these two at first glance seem to be worse

The Importance Of International Terrorism
The growing scope and complexity of international terrorism, particularly the threat to diplomats and
diplomatic facilities, has caused widespread concern among members of the international community
and prompted a lively debate on the measures appropriate for their protection. Consideration of this
matter, however, has been greatly complicated not only by differing interpretations of the nature of
terrorism but by the involvement of states themselves in terrorist activities.
Once again, this problem is not new but since the 1960s, when terrorism emerged as a coherent
doctrine of revolutionary warfare and a myriad groups sprang up around the world to capitalise on the
increased vulnerability of modern society, the involvement of government s in terrorism has been
given considerable attention. The debate over this matter has been heightened by the open admission
of some states that they were prepared to sponsor terrorist groups as a means of extending their
foreign policy options and by the Reagan Administration s insistence that terrorism has become a
global issue with the potential to destroy diplomacy, undermine world stability and threaten
civilisation itself .1
Despite the fact that the diplomatic laws have been in practice since the beginning of early
civilizations, states have often acted in a manner contrary to VCDR principles and laws. There have
been earlier incidents of the violation of inviolability of diplomatic privileges by the receiving state
but most of them

Moral Relativism
Different cultures view ethics in different ways. I think that moral relativism should be viewed the
same way all across the world. Some cultures praise the wrong doing of their people and celebrate
their behavior whether it is wrong or right. Other cultures, will shun a group or individual if he/she
was doing something unethical. As a society, America tends to judge an action before we hear the
story or background of the person. Our country is a prime example of how moral relativism applies to
everyday actions. If someone is committing a crime, the individual will be sentenced and punished if
necessary. However in other countries, an individual that has done wrong may go free. For example,
the incident that happened in
Tunis, Tunsania, now has a video created on the people that committed the acts. In American culture,
the people that committed the crime would have been caught, tried and sent to jail. In some cultures,
what one deems as unethical, may be another society s norm. Take abortion as an example, we as
Americans may view a mother having an abortion as a wrongful act , but in some ... Show more

Muslims believe that following the Koran and praying to the East will get people into eternal glory.
These religions both have the same idea that one must do something in order to seek the face of God

still have the same general idea. There is an increasing desire and an increasing will across the world

Cherokee Indian Removal Analysis
The Cherokee Nation flourished in 1838 through Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, and North Carolina.
They had their own newspaper, The Cherokee Phoenix, they grew corn and cotton, raised hogs and

Cherokees were forced out of their homes and held at gunpoint by 7,000 soldiers, an order from
President Martin Van Buren who was pressured by Georgia. Eighteen thousand Indians were pressured
to march from Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, and North Carolina to the Indian territory in present day

the end, the U.S. government never even paid the $5 million promised to the Cherokees in the Treaty

own system of government, similar to that of the United States. John Ross was elected as the Principal

The Trail of Tears was a devastating forced march of 800 miles of the Cherokee Nation. Andrew

Korsgaard Normative Questions
** The normative question
Korsgaard frames the question that is central to ethics as the `normative question . An answer to the
normative question, in Korsgaard s view must be tailored to address someone in the first person
perspective, since the question arises from the first person perspective.
Korsgaard writes that it is helpful to imagine the normative question as the question that is asked when
moralities demands are difficult:
#+BEGIN_QUOTE
When you want to know what a philosopher s theory of normativity is, you must place yourself in the
position of an agent on whom morality is making a difficult claim. You then ask the philosopher: must
I really do this? Why must I do it? And his answer is his answer to the normative question.[fn:176]
#+END_QUOTE
Korsgaard uses this idea as a kind of thought experiment to see whether a particular approach to
morality is convincing. In /Sources of Normativity/ she discusses several approaches to morality and
asks whether their answer to the normative question would be `appealing to an agent in this ... Show

According to a constructivist reading of Kant, morality is grounded in the will or practical reason and
particular moral obligations are constructed by practical reason. The fact that the moral law is a
demand of reason or rationality provides a justification for subjecting ourselves to morality: moralities
demands are rational. At the same time Korsgaard argues that it explains why we are motivated to act
in accordance with the moral law: the moral law is a demand of our own will.
Constructivism is tied to what Korsgaars names the Kantian `ethics of autonomy . The main idea of
the Kantian ethics of autonomy that Korsgaard defends is the idea that morality is not grounded in
something that is external to practical reason or the will, but rather that it is grounded in the will or

In the sectioned of the pamphlet entitled Superiority of mixed races , Brazil was believed to be a
country where the people were miscegenated, to further support the idea of mixing in the United
States. However, the attitudes of race mixing in both countries were significantly different. Brazil has
always been a black and mixed blood populated society, whereas the United States had always been
white blood dominated compared to its black population. This paper will compare the differences of
race mixing in the United States and Brazil after the American Civil War.
First and foremost, it is important to differentiate the perception of black and white race mixing in
both the United States and Brazil. In the United States, the offspring produced between blacks and
whites are considered black. However, the status of a child produced by a white mother is typically
reflected by the status of the mother. Degler revealed that, From this perspective, the most feared
combination in unions between blacks and whites was the one in which the white women married a
black men . This is because during slavery, when a slave owner would impregnate his female slaves,
the children of the slave would also become a slave, but if the mother is white, it is very unlikely that
the child would become a slave. Consequently in Brazil, due to larger acceptance range of race
mixing, the descendants of an African and European relation

The theme of violence is evident all through the film. The story of The Godfather is told with a closed
world, it gives the audience a chance to review the Mafia utterly on its own terms. Character Don Vito
Corleone played by Marlon Brando, is seen as a sympathetic and admirable character. As all through
the film, he does everything that is expected from a mafia, which receives approval from the audience.
In the movie, there is no civilian causality of an organized crime, only corrupt police.
The story reviews the mafia life from the inside, and as expected by the audience such life is secretive,
addictive in a way. The story has shaped the public perception on the mafia. In the film the Godfather
takes control of power and justice, his only nemeses are traitors and snitches. For instance, Michael
played by Al Pacino says that one should never side against the family. In another incident, Don Vito

The irony of the movie is that the title The Godfather is actually meant for the son as opposed to the
father as many would have hoped. In the beginning of the film Michael is not even part of the Mafia
organization, he is indicted for it when he saves his father s life in the hospital by shooting a corrupt
police. Moreover, in the film loyalty is the key, Michael does not even trust Tom Hagen played by
Robert Duvall with a secret that he plans to murder the heads of the other families. In what is termed
as the baptism massacre , which provided him with an opportunity to ascend as a godfather in all

The Victorian Period And The Romantic Period
Victorian literature is that produced during the reign of Queen Victoria (1837 1901) also known as the
Victorian era. It forms a link and transition between the writers of the romantic period and the
literature of the 20th century. The 19th century is often regarded as a high point in British literature as
well as in other countries such as France, the United States and Russia. Books, and novels in
particular, became well known, and the Victorian novelist created a legacy of works with continuing
appeal. Many novels were published in serial form, along with short stories and poetry, in such literary
magazines as Household Words. After the upheavals of the romantic period, Poetry became somewhat
institutionalised in the Victorian era. (Victorian Literature) During the course of the 19th century, the
question of women s roles and rights was widely debated.Questions like How should women should
be educated? What was their proper place in society? Should they be allowed to work outside the
home? Should they be able to vote and have a political voice? These and a range of other issues
constituted what the Victorians termed The Woman Question , which was fervently analysed in
discussion groups, in the press, in parliament, and in scientific and medical circles as women pushed
for greater recognition and equality. Changes in social expectations and in legislation were achieved
very slowly the vote was only granted to women over 30 in 1918 and women over 21 in 1928, for

Why I Didn t Treat Women
There was a time in my life where I didn t treat women in the way they should have been treated. I use
to play games with their feelings and didn t care if they got hurt because I was only looking out for
myself. The reason I was like this was because I ve seen my older siblings get their heart broken, so I
made up in my mind that I would not have that happen to me. So whenever I would date a young lady
I would always have someone I was talking to on the side but I would lie to the person I was with
saying that I wasn t seeing no one but them. One instance I was dating this girl who I grew to like very
much to the point where I wasn t talking to no one but her. This was the very first time in my life
where I had really opened up to a girl and experienced what it was like to be in love. Then one day I
was out with my cousin and saw my girlfriend all hugged up on another guy. I was very hurt and
humiliated because my cousin was there to witness me get my heart broken. That moment in my life
taught me how those other young ladies who really liked me felt when I was treating them in that
manner. I would say that I m not the same person that I was a year ago. I m different because I no
longer have a young boy s mindset but yet I m growing daily and learning from the mistakes I ve
made in the past. Five years ago I was different because I was looking for ways to better myself as a
person. Ten years ago I was very big on trying to the very best cymbal twirler in my

Pride And Prejudice By Jane Austen Essay
Pride and Prejudice is a novel written by Jane Austen. It was first published in 1813. Ignoring the fact
that I have already read the book in high school, the novel tackles on very interesting issues, which
makes itself just as interesting for a book report. The story mainly revolves around Elizabeth Bennet
as she faces issues concerning manners, upbringings, education, morality, and marriage. The setting is
in England in the early 19th century, so the social norms found in the book are more accustomed to the
British Regency and strange to any other significant time periods . Before all else, there are several
sociological themes in this novel. Just to name a few: women and femininity, prejudice, and the most
notorious of them all, society and class. These themes heavily impact the story as it progresses from
the main character, Elizabeth Bennet, to more minor characters like Charlotte Lucas. Although it was
never directly mentioned, there are a few implications of why this novel was written. One of these
possibilities is the portrayal of Jane Bennet. She s literally the embodiment of a perfect girl. She s
gentle, patient, beautiful, optimistic, and the list goes on. Jane is the ideal woman in her society and
that s perhaps why Austen implemented her. Her character was mainly there to set up the conditions
for Elizabeth and Darcy to meet and had little presence throughout the story till the ending. Even in
that spotlight she had, Jane was primarily seen as the most desirable

The Last Supper Research Paper
Research Essay
The Last Supper painted by Leonardo Da Vinci is one of the most famous and complex works of art in
the world. A better understanding of this painting will enable people to understand Da Vinci s mind,
and give people an insight into the Renaissance period.
This painting was commissioned by the Duke of Milan, Ludovico Sforza. Ludovico Sforza wanted
this particular scene painted in the dining hall of the Convent of Santa Maria Delle Grazie in Milan,
Italy. In 1495, Leonardo Da Vinci began work on The Last Supper and completed the painting in
1498. When painting this mural, Da Vinci did not take the traditional approach. Instead of making this
a Fresco, an art technique of painting on a moist, plaster surface with colors ground ... Show more

The first reason comes from the fact that Da Vinci created his own technique, and was able to make
use of bright vibrant colors in his work. Another reason this painting is impressive is because of the
level of emotion Da Vinci was able to convey on the faces of the Apostles. Other depictions of The
Last Supper fall short of Da Vinci s painting because they can not express the intense emotion the way
Da Vinci did. The Last Supper was not the first famous biblical scene , but it changed the biblical art
scene because of the apostles specific expressions and the intimate feeling that they create. (Mussio 3).
This includes the facial expressions that the apostles wear and body movements that they make. The
final reason this painting is considered a masterpiece is because of the one point perspective Da Vinci
achieves. In this painting, every element of the painting is centered around Jesus Christ. This
incredible one point perspective was achieved by Da Vinci when he hammered a nail into the wall,
then tied a string to it to make marks that helped guide his hands (Puchko 2). The revolutionary one
point perspective, new technique Da Vinci uses, and incredible portrayal of emotions makes this
painting a marvel of the Renaissance

Donnie s Problem In Teenage Wasteland By Anne Tyler
Teenage Wasteland In the short story, Teenage Wasteland , there is a troubled boy named Donny.
Donny has trouble with his attitude and his grades, so his family decides to get him help. They are
suggested to go to a tutor with considerable psychological training (Tyler 3) in order to help Donny.
As time goes on, his grades start to get worse; even though he seems to be happier and have a better
attitude at times. His mother does not have a lot of trust, but is told to leave it to the tutor, Calvin.
After Donny gets expelled and takes his final exams, Donny disappears. He does not come back by the
end of the story. Many may believe that Donny s mother, Daisy, is the most to blame for the outcome
of Anne Tyler s story Teenage Wasteland, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was more influential on the decision that Donny himself would make. Daisy was not aloud to be
the mother of her own child, but it was as if Cal had taken over. Daisy was a little harsh on Donny at
times, but she was only trying to protect him. When she was trying to help him, he was doing better
academically than when Cal was helping him. Overall, what Cal did made Donny feel like he could do
whatever he wanted, and he did not necessarily think Donny running away was a bad thing. Overall,
the story shows that people may have the best intentions to help, but sometimes that is not the help
that should be given, and may not be

Key Benefits Of A Secured Loan
In the current economic climate where loans are not so readily available as they used to be it is useful
to know what your options are before applying for a loan.
Secured Loans
A secured loan is a loan that is secured on your property, and is available to people that have a
mortgage on their property who also have enough equity left in their property. The maximum LTV
(loan to value) allowable if you have a good credit history is currently 85% i.e. the total of your loan
and mortgage debt must be less than 85% of the value of your property. One of the main benefits of a
secured loan is that the lender is more likely to lend you money because they put a second charge on
your property (behind the charge that your mortgage lender has in place) which makes the loan a safer
bet for them if you default on your repayments. You can also borrow larger loan amounts for longer
terms than you can with an unsecured loan.
Unsecured Loans
An unsecured loan is a loan that is underwritten based on your personal circumstances, i.e. the lender
will look at your income and your outgoings and they will also look at your credit record. Although
the loan is unsecured the lenders are more likley to lend to homeowners than they are to tenants, for
the simple reason that should you default on your repayments the lender will look to put a charge on
your property in order to recover their money. Unsecured loans are generally available for smaller
amounts usually up to £15,000 and for shorter terms

  • 2. Essay on Walt Whitman s Song of Myself Walt Whitman s Song of Myself This paper deals with Walt Whitman s Song of Myself in relation to Julia Kristeva s theories of abjection my paper does not point to abjection in the text, but rather the significance of the abscence of abjection. This abscence, looming and revolting, arises from Whitman s attemt to refigure a conception of sublimity which delimits the material which can trigger the sublime moment. Whitman s democracy of the sublime is inclusive of those figures on the American landscape, their lives and voices, which are functionalized into his world. This paper employs the theories of George Lukacs and Julia Kristeva allow the unearthing of the archeological layers of Whitman s text. The most literal adjective ... It is beyond the foregrounded inversive space at times utopic and sublime, the space is permeated with universal brotherhood, happiness, the compelled sentimental that I attempt to delve into, that source from which generates the repulsive, hidden quivering of a text which, though cast out and forced into absence, looms in the shadowed relief. The edification of his text and of his readership is attempted through the construction of an inversive space which refigures the sublime: the apex of the cultured. I have chosen those moments in the text in which the poet nears the threshold of bordering abject in order to construct his sublime utopian vision. It is here, this marked refigurement where ecstasy occurs, where material which triggers the sublime is the signal of another text; a repulsive reading looms from the absence of abjection An invocation of the self begins Song of Myself, positioning the text as an edification of the American readership: I celebrate myself, and sing myself, And what assume you shall assume, For every atom belonging to me as god belongs to you (lines 1 3). • 4. The Study Of Psychology And Psychology Firstly, it is important to know what is meant by the term science , and then to establish whether psychology adheres to this. The Oxford English Dictionary defines science as the study or knowledge of the physical world, based on observation and experiment . This immediately raises issues about this debate as many areas of psychological research do not involve the observable. For example, the areas of Clinical and Counselling psychology rely on a patient s thoughts and feelings to help determine whether they suffer from a mental disorder. Owing to an advancement in technology, however, phenomena that was once labelled as unobservable can now be observed. One example of this includes emotions, including happiness, sadness, disgust, fear, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This, however, should not be taken at face value as these bodies would not want to portray themselves as being unscientific. Nevertheless, there is an overall positive effect of the psychological bodies seeing themselves as scientific as empirical research will be promoted further, making psychology as a subject more scientific. Furthermore, psychology has become more scientific by the need to move away from pseudo scientific perspectives. One such perspective, is Freud s Psychodynamic approach. This focuses on the subconscious mind, and as this phenomena cannot be observed, it has been argued that the Psychodynamic perspective is unfalsifiable and untestable. Both of these elements are key parts of what makes a science. However, others have argued that the Psychodynamic perspective is testable, but that it has just failed those tests (Hansson, 2015). review The Behavioural perspective was the first to try and move psychology as a subject away from the unscientific by focusing on observable and measurable behaviour to gain empirical evidence. Moreover, since the 1970s, the Biological perspective has grown hugely with neuropsychology now being a dominant approach. This shows that psychology has made a move to become more scientific in its approaches and methods over time. review It has been argued that demarcation should be unchanging throughout time. In The Clay Marble by Minfong Ho, the main character, Dara, is exceedingly scared at the beginning of the story and doesn t have much courage. Throughout the story, Dara is forced to become brave, find her family, and get rid of her fears, ultimately demonstrating true courage. In the beginning of the story, Dara was especially scared because of the genocide and had trouble adapting to her new lifestyle. When Dara, her brother, Sarun, and their mother first reached the Nong Chan refugee camp, Dara was tinged with fright, hesitation, and the lack of courage to live in a new way. With her warmth behind me, and the flames in front of me, I felt snug and secure, (pg. 23 24). This supports my claim because it shows that Dara likes to be secure. Three researchers from Alliant International University and two researchers from University of California San Diego; Moore, Viglione, Rosenfarb, Patterson and Mausbach, decided to look at the relationships between thought disorder, psychological complexity, and interpersonal representations with daily and social functioning in people with schizophrenia (2013). Oxygen isotope ratios change in the ocean primarily due to precipitation and evaporation. When water evaporates from the surface, lighter 16O is preferentially removed and turned into vapor while the heavier 18O is preferentially left behind. With time, this causes the ocean to be 16O depleted or 18O enriched. If the cloud precipitates out, the first isotopes to be released are the heavier 18O while the 16O remain as vapor. It is important to note that complete precipitation or evaporation results in no fractionation since all molecules of water are precipitated or evaporated out. Rayleigh fractionation occurs as the water vapor moves poleward and begins precipitating out the heavier isotopes until the vapor is progressively more enriched in light isotopes (Figure 1). The lighter isotopes can then be stored as terrestrial ice. This mechanism explains how on long timescales the oxygen isotope ratio can change when forming or collapsing large ice sheets. Because the changes in the isotopic ratio are so small, delta notion was adopted with the use of an international standard. The original standard, adopted in 1968 by the International Atomic Energy Agency, was called Standard Mean Ocean Water (SMOW) but has been retired for the current standard Vienna Standard Mean Ocean Water (VSMOW). Children are diagnosed with SCD as early as 4 months old and accurately diagnosed by the age of 6 months old. Normal RBCs are disc shaped in which they are able to easily travel throughout the body, especially through the tiniest blood vessels. However, with sickled shaped RBCs, they clump together while flowing through these particularly small vessels, which causes the loss of oxygen throughout the tissues and organs. Information on accounting information systems will need to be reviewed and looked over carefully to make sure that it is valid information and something that we should really consider before it is used. I have chosen these points in the text as important ones because the conceptual framework is one that we should become familiar with because it should be there throughout our education and follow us into our careers because it was developed to be used as a guide for any future accounting principle. The construction of an accounting information system is also important because we are going to need to know what the accounting information system is constructed of because there may be a day that we will be asked to help with the development and we should know the basic concept of it and what it is. Hitcher is a poem about a man who is angry at being threatened with the sack, he picks up a hitch hiker and kills him and then leaves him on the road side. The poetic voice seems to be psychotic and also talks about the attack in a casual manner. Ed for Leisure also deals with a bitter person who feels he has been let down by society. Both poems by Robert Browning are dramatic monologues, The Lab is a mixture of the main characters thoughts and her words to the apothecary. She seems very similar to the main characters in both Ed for Leisure and Hitcher as an insane twisted side of her character is exposed... The lady in The Laboratory is plotting to murder the mistress of her lover and seems very excited about the prospect of death. In asking the apothecary, Wot that I bid you spare her the pain; she shows that she wants her victim to die slowly and painfully. This demonstrates a craving for violence like the characters in Armitage and Duffy s poems. As well as sharing the structure of a dramatic monologue, The Lab is also arranged in stanzas like the previous two poems and contains rhyme like Hitcher . The second poem by Robert Browning is called My Last Duchess like the other 3 poems it is a dramatic monologue and shares the same rhyme scheme as The Lab . Some cultures praise the wrong doing of their people and celebrate their behavior whether it is wrong or right. Ignoring the fact that I have already read the book in high school, the novel tackles on very interesting issues, which makes itself just as interesting for a book report. The story mainly revolves around Elizabeth Bennet as she faces issues concerning manners, upbringings, education, morality, and marriage. The setting is in England in the early 19th century, so the social norms found in the book are more accustomed to the British Regency and strange to any other significant time periods . Before all else, there are several sociological themes in this novel. Just to name a few: women and femininity, prejudice, and the most notorious of them all, society and class. These themes heavily impact the story as it progresses from the main character, Elizabeth Bennet, to more minor characters like Charlotte Lucas. Although it was never directly mentioned, there are a few implications of why this novel was written. One of these possibilities is the portrayal of Jane Bennet. She s literally the embodiment of a perfect girl. She s gentle, patient, beautiful, optimistic, and the list goes on. A better understanding of this painting will enable people to understand Da Vinci s mind, and give people an insight into the Renaissance period. This painting was commissioned by the Duke of Milan, Ludovico Sforza. Ludovico Sforza wanted this particular scene painted in the dining hall of the Convent of Santa Maria Delle Grazie in Milan, Italy. In 1495, Leonardo Da Vinci began work on The Last Supper and completed the painting in 1498. When painting this mural, Da Vinci did not take the traditional approach. Instead of making this a Fresco, an art technique of painting on a moist, plaster surface with colors ground ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first reason comes from the fact that Da Vinci created his own technique, and was able to make use of bright vibrant colors in his work. Another reason this painting is impressive is because of the level of emotion Da Vinci was able to convey on the faces of the Apostles. Other depictions of The Last Supper fall short of Da Vinci s painting because they can not express the intense emotion the way Da Vinci did. The Last Supper was not the first famous biblical scene , but it changed the biblical art scene because of the apostles specific expressions and the intimate feeling that they create. (Mussio 3). This includes the facial expressions that the apostles wear and body movements that they make. The final reason this painting is considered a masterpiece is because of the one point perspective Da Vinci achieves. In this painting, every element of the painting is centered around Jesus Christ. This incredible one point perspective was achieved by Da Vinci when he hammered a nail into the wall, then tied a string to it to make marks that helped guide his hands (Puchko 2). The revolutionary one point perspective, new technique Da Vinci uses, and incredible portrayal of emotions makes this painting a marvel of the Renaissance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. Key Benefits Of A Secured Loan In the current economic climate where loans are not so readily available as they used to be it is useful to know what your options are before applying for a loan. Secured Loans A secured loan is a loan that is secured on your property, and is available to people that have a mortgage on their property who also have enough equity left in their property. The maximum LTV (loan to value) allowable if you have a good credit history is currently 85% i.e. the total of your loan and mortgage debt must be less than 85% of the value of your property. One of the main benefits of a secured loan is that the lender is more likely to lend you money because they put a second charge on your property (behind the charge that your mortgage lender has in place) which makes the loan a safer bet for them if you default on your repayments. You can also borrow larger loan amounts for longer terms than you can with an unsecured loan. Unsecured Loans An unsecured loan is a loan that is underwritten based on your personal circumstances, i.e. the lender will look at your income and your outgoings and they will also look at your credit record. Although the loan is unsecured the lenders are more likley to lend to homeowners than they are to tenants, for the simple reason that should you default on your repayments the lender will look to put a charge on your property in order to recover their money. Unsecured loans are generally available for smaller amounts usually up to £15,000 and for shorter terms ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
