The Insanity Defense And The Defense
The insanity defense was first used by U.S. Congressman Daniel Sickles of New York in 1859
after he had killed his wife s lover, Philip Barton Key. The insanity defense asserts that a criminal
defendant should not be found guilty due to the defendant s insanity, but insanity in this context
refers to a very specific dysfunction. The theory behind the defense is that a person who is insane
lacks the intent required to perform a criminal act because the person either does not know that the
act is wrong or cannot control his or her actions even when the person understands that the act is
wrong. The insanity defensecan in three ways: the insanity plea is rejected, the defendant is
convicted as guilty but mentally insane, or the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shumey was tried for murder in the second degree, and his trial cost the county of San Luis
Obispo seventy thousand dollars. Psychiatric fees alone cost the defendant seventy thousand two
hundred dollars, which a quarter of the total price of the entire trial on his side (Feuerstein).
However, this does not account for fees the plaintiff had to pay to ensure a fair evaluation of the
defendant. In addition, this example is only an example of a mid ranged price of psychiatric fees.
Multiple trials have exceeded Shumey s in psychiatric fees including the Crockwell case which
accumulated just under twenty thousand dollars and the Brandon Woody case which accumulated
over thirty one thousand dollars (Pemberton). The insanity defense accumulates an absurd amount
of money towards the cost of the trial for such a diminutive chance of success.
To go along with such a drastic increase in trial costs, the insanity defense only accounts for a
minuscule number of trials while having an even lower success rate. While the rates may vary from
state to state, on average less than one defendant in every one hundred actually raises the insanity
defense. Within the small percentage that the defense is raised, the chance of the defense actually
succeeding is even tinier. In 2005, the National Institute of Mental Health conducted an eight state
study, in which they studied the success rate of the insanity defense within those

SURYA NAMASKAR 12 POSTURES OF SURYA NAMASKAR
Introduction: Known variously as Surya Namskar or Prostrations to Sun or Sun Salutation, the
Surya Namaskar is one of the best exercises that people can perform. The benefits accruing from
these exercises are unique and excellent. This is a yoga based exercise and it is customary to
perform Surya Namaskar after performing loosening yoga exercises. The human being can be
thought of consisting of pancha kosas (or five sheaths) consisting of the Annamaya (or Body),
Pranamaya (or Breath), Manomaya (or Mind), Vijnanamaya (or Intellect) and Anandamaya (or

Archetypes In Mordred
Stories of Camelot s mighty warriors and the resulting Arthurian legends continue to be timeless as
they are still told, centuries later. Many other tales have been lost in the passing of time, but these
remain because they contain archetypes that are applicable to any and all people throughout the
ages. They show their audience what it is like to struggle with temptation, love, and morals; not at
all unlike the troubles people encounter today. But as time goes on, the perspective that these
stories are seen from drastically changes. Protagonists become villains, motives are redefined, and
love waxes cold. The most extreme of these changes is seen with the king s nephew Mordred as he
goes from murderer, seen by Wace s poem Arthurian Chronicles:

No longer is Mordred just a product of the situation he was thrust into, but he is now the
orchestrater of the catastrophic events that led to the death of England s most honorable man. He

position, and involving other, once morally sound knights. He not only puts himself in danger,
but others as well, all for his own well being. The evidence of Mordred s now more evil
intentions continues with the simple statement, in a becoming darkness Mordred smiled / Away

does not retreat to the mind settling thoughts of how and when the situation got out of control
and how he did the best he could in the given circumstances. Instead, when left to himself,
Mordred takes pride in his plans and what they will accomplish in the lives of those around them.

Master And Margarita Good Vs Evil Essay
What is Good If There is No Evil?
This satire involves the devil, a psych ward, and love. Although this story is fictional, it allegorises
historical events. The Master and Margarita was written in the time of Stalinism. Mikhail
Bulgakov, the author, used a lot of symbolism and magical realism to write about the environment
he was in without being forthright about it. He used polarities, such as good vs evil and rational
vs irrational, to get his point across to readers. The theme of The Master and Margarita is that there
is always good in evil and evil in good. The motifs that Mikhail Bulgakov displayed throughout The
Master and Margarita are the disguises of the devil and the behavior of nature.

Review Of Billie Holiday s Song Strange Fruit
Protest Music Assignment For this assignment, I chose the song Strange Fruit by Billie Holiday.
She first performed this song in 1939, several years after the Civil War took place, but before the
end of the Jim Crow South. Billie Holiday was born in the North, which was more supportive of
equality between the races, but she was African American, and this was something that affected her
life, even if she did not live in the South. This song is a protest song, subtle as it may be, against
lynching and the Jim Crow Laws. It describes the lynching, and what can be seen after this deed is
performed. Using imagery and metaphors, she demonstrates the wrongs of the Jim Crow South and
lynching. This song was inducted into the Grammy Hall... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the very first line of the song states Southern trees bear strange fruit , referring to the
men being lynched to strange fruit. They are hanging from the tree, and they are strange fruit
because that is not something that a tree produces. This however is a subtle metaphor for this
action. A few lines down, she sings Black bodies swinging in the southern breeze , which is
clearly about lynching. After this, Billie s song goes, Scent of magnolias, sweet and fresh. Then
the sudden smell of burning flesh , which shows a contrast between the peace and calm, and then
the abrupt disruption of nature by the white men. She is obviously putting the smell in a negative
light by describing the sweet flowers first, and how the overbearing smell disturbed it. The final
important line is Here is fruit for the crows to pluck , which is referring to the Jim Crow South
and the white men that take part in the lynching. They literally pick out someone that they do not
like just because of the color of their skin and they lynch them. Billie Holiday s song ends with
here is a strange and bitter crop , which still compares African American men to crops that have
been picked (lynched), and after that they are just left there and no one gives another thought about

Knights Impact On Society
Many kings formed armies using feudalism. One way of gathering an army, was through their
nobles. Since the nobles received land from the monarch, they were obliged to get the knights
the king had asked for ( What was the impact 2). To gather the amount of knights the lords were
told to gather, the lords gave land to sub tenants ( What was the impact 2). And to lure knights
into service, they were offered incentives. Knights received incentives in return for their service.
One of the things they were given was wealth. Knights pledged loyalty and military services to a
lord in exchange for clothes, food, a home (sometimes in the castle), other manor made items, and
wealth (Beil 14 15). These gifts were called fiefs. Some knights were given land as... Show more

Also, when receiving land, the lord received power over the peasants of that village. Knights
also got support, a share of the treasure and goods that were taken in battle, and a sort of
insurance. This insurance was that if he died, his children were protected until the girl married
and the boy became a vassal, and that the widow and the land were protected (Smith 3). Also
appealing to would be knights was the rise in status. Knights were given a fief, often land,
making them a vassal, and therefore a lord (Beil 15). Knights were considered to be like the rock
stars of their time as they were well off and thought as honorable, chivalrous, and wealthy (Nardo
29). Because of this they were sought after by high class ladies looking for a husband, and by
troubadours who looked for the heroes of their songs (Nardo 31). Because of these advantages,
the feudal oath became a political tool where it previously had been a vow of military duty (Beil
9). It was understood that if he did not uphold his promise it would all be taken back. (Beil 15).
However, knights did not only gain as they also had to work or their king/lord. A common time

John Ruskin s Unspoken Words
Unspoken words are harmless until they are spoken. One can think anything that he/she that comes
into their mind; however, no one will ever know what they are thinking. It is impossible to read
minds; therefore, no one can judge anyone based on what they know, their thoughts, and what they
believe. In fact, this is stated in John Ruskin s quote: What we think, or what we know, or what we
believe is, in the end, of little consequence. The only consequence is what we do. This quote
primarily means that one cannot get into trouble unless they take action to access them into a
situation. Moreover, John Ruskin s statement is correct. This precision is demonstrated in
numerous political/economical based pieces of literature, and further displayed by the... Show more

Implicit words are innocuous. One can think of anything that comes to their mind, and they cannot
be judged for it because no one knows what that thought is. Accordingly, thoughts, good or bad, are
harmless. A thought being innocuous is shown in George Orwell s novel, 1984. In this text, a
government attempts to take over the minds of its citizens. This happens if they are known to
believe in the wrong things. Wrong beliefs include believing in Big Brother as the nation s leader.
Furthermore, Winston, the main character, was down with the so called Big Brother, however, he
never stated his wrong beliefs (until revealed at the end). Because his thoughts were not spoken of,
the government did not find out that he wanted Big Brother to rule. In effect, Winston was not
punished for his beliefs, considering no one knew and could judge him on it. Not getting
punishment shows that there is no consequence in keeping your thoughts in, while the
consequences can be extreme, getting brainwashed, if you act on it. Similarly, within Barbara
Ehrenreich s Serving in Florida, the narrator went against her thoughts on speaking out in order to
not be punished. In

Spinal Imobilization In Emergency Medical Services
Spinal immobilization has been a common practice in Emergency Medical Services. The act of
spinal immobilization is normally used when a patient has suffered a significant trauma. Spinal
immobilization consists of securing the body to a rigid, long spinal board, securing the neck with
a cervical collar, and then lastly, securing the head to the board between towels or wedges.
Initially starting with the effectiveness of backboarding, continuing into the vital functions that
backbaording can impede and finalizing with the vacuum mattress versus the traditional
backboard. Ultimately, spinal immobilization of all trauma patients can do more harm than
good, and all cases should not be fully immobilized. Backboarding is currently still being used in
EMS, however is it as effective as it is believed to be? Recent studies have argued that
backboarding is not as effective as previously conceived. Nevertheless, there are steps that can be
taken to increase the effectiveness of spinal immobilization, however, those come with concerns as
well. Padding the voids, or the spaces that are commonly found behind the knees, lower back and
the head and neck, is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

movements of the neck. In addition to doing the same job of a long, spine board, the vacuum
mattresses are much faster in their application than a traditional long board and cervical collar.

The International Ecotourism Society
Often times when people think think of the environment they think of fields, lakes, or wild animals.
This, however, is no longer the reality of our world today. Because of human impacts on the
environment, fields have been turned to shopping malls, lakes have been dried up, and
undomesticated creatures are being wiped out by the thousands. One main perpetrator of this
destruction is ecotourism. ecotourism is defined as, travel to natural areas in ways that conserve the
environment and improve the welfare of local people. ( Significance of Protecting Natural Sites for
Ecotourism Development ). The term ecotourism was first used in the 1970 s, but became popular
only in 1990 when the International Ecotourism Society (TIES) was founded. The main goals of
ecotourism were to have a means for people to tour natural places, but without having a negative
impact on the environment. ( Ecotourism ). This, however, has not been the case. Preservation of
the environment is no longer the main goal of ecotourism companies, for the great profits have
become many of their main concerns. The positives aspects of ecotourism are not worth the
extinction of endangered animals, the overuse of natural resources, and the disturbance of local
communities.
Ecotourism has had a wide and vast history, spanning all around the globe. The International
Ecotourism Society (TIES) was first founded in 1990 and is the world s longest running ecotourism

Beta Risk Analysis
Nearly all investors look to beta as a way of feeling out the risk of a stock or fund. Put simply,
beta measures volatility, or the tendency to swing up and down, as compared to a benchmark. Fund
managers that take a bullish stance on the short term horizon may actively stock up on high beta
equities to drive up returns. Controlling beta becomes an obsession for managers; and after they get
the balance just right, they feel confident and reassured in their riskprofile. Menchero, Nagy, and
Singh concentrate on three estimates of beta to test the accuracy of the measure overall. The first,
naive beta, makes a gross simplification that all stocks have a beta of 1. Second, the historical beta
can be computed by comparing stock... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When charted across the largest financial institutions during the 2008 Financial Crisis, it delivers
great results. It would have targeted Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Morgan Stanley, Bear Stearns, and
Lehman Brothers as the most fragile institutions. Moreover, the model could detect the problems as
early as the first quarter of 2005, making it a promising predictive tool. Such a risk measurement
instrument can be useful for firms of all sizes: from medium to large scale funds, to the largest
institutional investment houses.
Danielsson and De Vries explain how predictions of low probability, worst case outcomes are
extremely poor using Value at Risk. These, importantly, are the most influential events that deserve
the most attention. Such a blind spot is unacceptable. As such, they offer an alternative: an extreme
value estimator. When tested against VaR and historical simulations far out in the tails, it performs
much better in locating the depths of a negative shock. It charts tails according to particular
parametric distributions, develop[ing] a straightforward rule for obtaining multi period VaR from
the single period VaR. It is still fraught with several problems, but makes much more realistic
assumptions about the distribution of stock market returns. Moreover, it more closely mimics the
actual returns of the market.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Being A Gay Teenager
Dad overhears son saying he wants to come out, writes him a letter that goes viral ( removed
HTML ) It isn t easy being a teenager. Teenagers are halfway to adulthood and are working on
figuring out who they are and what kind people they re going to be. That inner battle surfaces
when they act out and when they get emotional. We ve all been there. What s harder than being a
teenager, however, is being a gay teenager. Gay teenagers have all of the regular teenage issues
that they have to go through and then they have a little something extra to work out. Firstly, they
can be trying to sort out if they are indeed gay. If they are then they have to figure out how to
come out to people and if it s safe for them to do so. Will their parents reject them? It s a real
possibility, unfortunately. How will their friends and neighbors treat them? These are all
questions that they have to wrestle with, and that s a lot for anyone, let alone a teenager. This
Dad s response after overhearing his son saying he wants to come out is the response that every
gay kid should receive. Meet Nate Nate is a teenager who is dating a boy named Mike. We don t
know too much about Nate, except that he s scared to come out to his parents and that he s on
the phone with Mike discussing this. He s worried about his parents response and what he ll do
if the conversation ends up going south. This is a fear that s all too real for most gay kids and it
shouldn t be. Kids should be loved because they re perfect just how they are. There s nothing
wrong with being gay. Nate s Dad reminds him of this with his perfect response via a written
letter that s since gone viral. ( removed HTML ) Dad s response Nate s Dad overhears part of

Spinach Chromatography
The purpose of this experiment was to learn about the analytical method known as chromatography
which allows the separation of a mixture into its molecular components. In order to illustrate this
technique the pigments found in the leaves of spinach were separated by means of thin layer
chromatography (TLC). All chromatographic techniques have one principle in common; a liquid or
gaseous solution of sample, called the moving phase, is passed (moved) through an adsorbent,
called a stationary phase. With TLC the adsorbent of choice was one of the most common coatings,
silica gel, SiO2. This compound is polar, and therefore, is frequently used in the separation of polar
substances such as aldehydes, ketones, amines and carboxylic acids. On the other hand, a mixture
of nonpolar solvents (petroleum ether and cyclohexane) was used as the solvent.... Show more

mL of acetone were added to each. The acetone washes the photopigments from the cells and
cytoplasm. In this manner, using a fixed speed vortex mixer, the mixture was shaken vigorously
for 10 minutes. Upon completion of mixing, the frozen and canned spinach displayed three

Backing to (Table 2), we can start from the NCO relative reactivity for the primary hydroxyl

The theory of evolution by natural selection does not interfere with the Judeo Christian view of
god as the creator, based on multiple sources including statements from the Pope himself. Although
throughout history there are many instances of conflict between people, science, and the Catholic
Church, there has recently been a widespread acceptance for science and many even say it does
not interfere with the Judeo Christian view of god as the creator. This essay will discuss the

(Akin) Galileo was a prime example of a conflict between the Catholic Church and science. He
was a devout roman catholic, however a great scientist. Galileo had many contributions to the
world such as the telescope and his many discoveries in outer space. However one of the more
widely recognized was his support to Copernicus theory of heliocentricity. Before this the church
had stated that the sun revolved around the earth, known as the theory of geocenctricity. Galileo s
teachings were consequently banned by the church, and Galileo himself imprisoned. However, in
1992 the Vatican under Pope John Paul II held a ceremony to proclaim that Galileo was right in
his findings and support of Copernicus. (Tracts) This shows that the present day church does not
see science as a threat or interference to its teachings. The present day church actually supports
science, as well as the theory of evolution by natural selection. However, although evolution is
widely accepted by many Popes, as well as the Catholic Church, many things are still maintained. It
is still maintained that Adam was the first human and all life originated from him. The church still
says that all humans have souls. The church insists that a soul is unobservable; therefore it is
untestable by science since it has no effect on the natural world, and science cannot confirm or

Analysis Of The First Day Of Senior Year For Dinah Jane
This was the first day of senior year for Dinah Jane. The familiar smell of the blossom tree by the
entrance greeted her senses. The last three years had been amazing for her and she spent it with
people she deeply cared for. She was satisfied with her class schedule or more so excited. She
started skipping her way to first period: Poetry. There was no doubt she was a really good writer.
It was her favorite pastime when she was alone. She hated feeling alone, but the creation of
fictional characters made her feel as if she wasn t alone at all. She had never taken a poetry class
before and she didn t know anyone who took the class. Here it goes. , the ambitious girl said as

under breath as she dragged herself to an available seat. There has got to be someone here I can
talk to that won t look at me as if I just farted. Dinah retorted to herself. Her Poetry teacher, Ms.
Marks, walked into the classroom. Ms. Marks was a very cool person. She was free spirited and
a professional potty mouth. She also happened to be her crazy aunt. God bless her. She s still a
bit baffled that her aunt hasn t gotten fired yet. She began a tangent on how society makes us
feel as if we have to be ignorant a holes in order to fit in. It was interesting and all, but oh my lord
could she run her mouth. Shortly after, a tall guy with purple hair walked in the room
confidently. There was something about him that was different. He was the only one in this room

The World s Wife Carol Ann Duffy Analysis
The World s Wife is a collection of poems by Carol Anne Duffy published in 1999. Throughout
Duffy s collection of the poems she represents women from history, myths and fairy tales,
particularly those whose stories tend to be defined by men, or who have only a cameo appearance
in male dominated scenarios. The Worlds Wife collection explores the themes of sexism,
inequality and stereotypes, which women, sadly still face in modern society. In Duffy s collection
some poems look at the story of the man from a womans perspective, such as the poem Mrs Aesop .
Other poem s stories have been slightly altered like The Kray Sisters. As we already know the

At the end of the same sentence the speaker says you came at last at the edge of the woods. The
full stop of this sentence further emphasises the speaker s childhood ending because the whole
sentence of being innocent is coming to an end. This sentence also creates a lot of tension and
excitement building up within the speaker, as she is stepping out of her comfort zone. Little
Red continues on saying I made sure he spotted me. This line makes the speaker sound quite
dominating as Little Red was demanding the Wolf to watch her. Already we can get a sense of
reversed roles, as stereotypically men are seen as more dominating in relationships than woman,
but it is Little Red who is dictating in their relationship. Little Red towards the end of the poem,
after 10 years of their relationship describes it as year in, year out, season after season, same
rhyme, same season. The constant repetition is an imagery how bored Little Red is with her
relationship with the greying wolf and that she desires something new in her life, something more
exciting. Also, the sibilance emphasises how irritated Little Red is becoming towards her partner,
as the s sound mirrors the sound of an evil snake, linking to the next sentence when Little Red
describes how she took an axe/to a willow to see how it wept. These two sentences link

To What Extent Does Williams Portray Stanley as the Cause...
To what extent does Williams portray Stanley as the cause for Blanche s downfall?
A Street Car Named Desire is a play written by a Mississippi born writer called Tennessee Williams.
A Street Car Named Desire shows a reversal of fortune with Blanche having a life full of fortune
with a successful business and a happy marriage however it is all turned upside when all this
fortune is removed out of her life resulting in her seeking refuge with a lower class family her
sister got married into... this fits in with Aristotle s theory of tragedy because there is a reversal of
fortune, bringing out feelings of fright and sympathy to the audience. Blanche might have been a
character created by Williams using inspiration of his own life, ... Show more content on

Blanche always wore white clothes which Williams might have purposefully done this to show her
desire to be pure, to cleanse herself of her past.
It seems that Williams has made it seem that Stanley did not cause Blanches downfall to much
extent that he only sped up Blanche s decline as she was already on a decline, regardless of
Stanley s added affects. However it can be argued that although Blanche was on the verge of a
downfall she would have recovered as she had the strength to go to her sister for help. Yet it can
be said that Stanley stopped Blanche recovering and aided her downfall to continue. Williams
shaped Stanley s character as a dominant, prideful and somewhat possessive one... I believe that
he is mainly sexually possessive as once Blanche questioned Stella on why she loves Stanley she
admitted that it was because, he fulfils her sexual and sensual desires with a steady life.
Remember what Huey Long said `Every Man is a King! And I am the king around here, so don t
forget it! Stanley was the dominant character between him and Stella however, with the arrival of
Blanche Williams disrupts their simple life; Blanche criticizes his private life his character, his
views and beliefs. Therefore Stanley turns against her this could be argued the cause for Stanley to
start breaking her down, wanting

Identity Of The American Identity
The American culture is made up of bits and pieces combined into one American Identity.
Throughout the process of finding this identity, came with courage, religion, and fear. These
three concepts provide compelling examples and experiences that have shaped Americans into
the best country there is. Having courage in life is often half the battle. John Smith encounters
so many hardships that prove he dares to keep pursuing his goal. Eventually, after defeating and
beheading a succession of three Turkish officers in single combat in Rumania, Smith was
wounded in battle, taken as a prisoner and sold into slavery to a Turk. Smith was passed from
place to place until held prisoner on the Black Sea, he murdered his master and fled back to
Rumania via Russia and Poland, returning to England in the winter of 1604 05. (Smith, pp. 82).
Most people at this point would typically become slightly discouraged because he has gotten beaten
up and is questioning if he can accomplish this or fail. The lesson we should take from Smith in this
story is that no matter how hard things get if you have a goal achieve it. There will defiantly be
hardships that come your way, but nothing in this life comes easy. For example, the British
encounter many hardships such as hunger, sickness, and unfamiliarity. Being thrown into adapting
to new situations is often hard. The natives saw many things they were not accustomed to, a few of
which include, muskets, clothes, horses, compasses, and

Power, Heat and Revenge Equals Death
Abraham Lincoln once said, Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man s
character, give him power. This quote coincides with the short story Heat because power revealed
the true character of each individual, controlling their actions and analyzing how it affected others
around them. Power and revenge are a few themes that were highlighted in the short story Heat by
Joyce Carol Oates. Oates examines the mysterious and more horrifying aspects of life. What
happened to the little girls is revealed by inference and minimal description of the scene. She
carefully told the story from the eyes of a child, giving her readers ... Show more content on

The story ends with the narrator saying, I wasn t there, but some things you know (Oates 143).
The friend/narrator explains that she was not there for the death of the girls but somehow, she
knew a great amount of information and detail about how the girls were killed. Roger Berlind, a
literary analyst at the University of Michigan stated that, Many literary analysts believe that the
friend or narrator actually was there helping Roger Whipple to kill the girls and they may have
even been raped by Roger. In essence that was her form of revenge to get back at them for
abusing their powers. Roger carefully planned his revenge by saying He could only take one of
them upstairs to his room at a time, he didn t say why (Oates 144). Roger Whipple revenges by
completely tricking the girls into thinking that he needed to show them something cool in his
room but he actually said that so he could kill them. Also, there is a form of revenge by having
the girls` murderer, Roger Whipple, buried in the same place as the girls were. The idea of
revenge found in the short story relates to the thesis because it explains the results of having too
much power and abusing

The movie Transformers is about Autobots trying to stop Decepticons. Autobots and Decepticons
are forms of Transformers that have been fighting for years. Scenes from the movie are spectacular.

Decepticons are usually the bad guys.
From the time Cade Yeager finds Optimus Prime, Cade knew Optimus was a transformer. At the

government was giving award because the Transformers had previously started a war on U.S

anyone about Optimus being hidden in his warehouse. So the next couple days past and Optimus
and Cade grew to kind of know each other. As Cade s daughter was just getting home, a swarm of
police vehicles and helicopters emerged on to Cade Yeager s property. The man in charge (SA

Summary Of A Poem For Black Hearts By Amiri Baraka
Shortly after the assassination of Malcolm X in February 1965, dozens of writers and poets
published pieces to honor the life and legacy of the Civil Rights mogul. Among the earliest
poems dedicated to the fallen hero of the Black community is Amiri Baraka s A Poem for Black
Hearts, which became one of the most widely circulated poems of the time period. The poem,
which eulogizes Malcolm X, recounts the violent murder that took place in Harlem a horrific,
and tragic event that left the Black community traumatized. Though, Baraka uses the poem as a
call to action, urging his Black audience to take action and to stimulate a mentality of total self
consciousness. As Baraka stresses central Malcolm X s philosophy towards solving social
injustice self acceptance, self determination, and self action are essential elements for Black
liberation. The 27 line, free verse poem s speaker is Baraka himself. Baraka immortalizes
Malcolm and captures the essence of his legacy by personifying his body parts and attributing their
significance to strong qualities Malcolm possessed. He employs the refrain For Malcom s...

The Geographies Of The Iroquois And Iroquois Tribe
Before 1492, when Columbus sailed the ocean blue, there were many tribes living in North
America. Two equally similar and different ones were the Iroquois tribe and the Cherokee tribe. On
one hand, they are similar because of their geographies and their economies. On the other hand,
they are different because of their cultures and religious beliefs. The geographies of the Iroquoisand
Cherokeetribes are alike in multiple ways. For instance, the Iroquois lived in the Northeast
region; they lived in New York and near Ontario River, Canada and along the Saint Lawrence
River. The Cherokee tribe lived in the Southeast region and in parts of Georgia, North Carolina,
and South Carolina, mostly. This means that both the Cherokee and the Iroquois tribes lived in
the East. Additionally, the Iroquois tribe got around by walking and using canoes. The
Cherokee tribe travelled on foot, wagons, and boats. This shows that both tribes walked and
used boats to transport themselves from place to place. In summary, the geographies of the
Iroquois and Cherokee are similar in a numerous amount of ways. The economies of the
Cherokee and Iroquois tribes are similar in many ways. For example, according to Daily Life in

Genetically Modified Organisms By Margaret Atwood
How far is too far when it comes to genetically modified organisms? Margaret Atwood shares her
view on GMOs in Oryx and Crake. Atwood often expresses distaste for these altered organisms
through her examples of pigoons and other genetically modified foods, which are still relatively
new in our society. Despite more commonly occurring dislike from Atwood, she sees a few
positives to GMOs. Although GMOs can increase food supply with higher yields, genetically
modified organisms should be regulated to a certain extent for the sake of society s overall
wellbeing. Because there has not been enough long term testing on GMOs to detect possible
problems, everyone s health could be suffering. There are few laws regulating genetically modified
organisms due to the fact that they have not been around for a long time. No long term testing has
been concluded, therefore there is no scientific conclusion when it comes to the safeness of
genetically modified organisms. Compared to other countries, the United States regulations on
GMOs is relatively favorable towards their development. According to the Library of Congress, a
series of polls conducted from 2001 to 2006 found that the publics understand of biotechnology
technology, which produces these genetically modified foods, was relatively low, and that
consumers were relatively unaware of the extent to which their foods included genetically modified
ingredients (United States). Sixty four countries around the world require labeling of

Critique And Analysis Of Black Skins, White Masks By...
Black Skins, White Masks Final Paper Black Skins, White Masks, is a powerful critique and
analysis of the damaging effects of colonial racism from a psychological and political
perspective. Frantz Fanon was born on a Caribbean island called Martinique, which was under
the French rule. His experience and account of colonization brings to light the dependency and
inferiority felt by the black colonial subjects. By seeing oneself through the eyes of the
colonizer, Fanon describes the struggles of the black person with their divided perceptions of
the world and of one s self. Black Skin, White Masks is a passionate study of colonial racism and
urges the racially oppressed to take action against the injustice of racism. Fanon, is trying to
make his reader gain a clear insight into the effects of racial oppression. Even though Black Skin
s White Masks is a piece of academic writing, it is written with personal nuances by shifting from
the first, second and third person ( I , You . They ). He wants his reader to relate and identify with
the colonized and he wants to enable the man of colour to understand...the psychological elements
that can alienate his fellow Negro. Colonial history has been a harsh interpreter of what it means
to be human. Fanon expresses this anger by questioning his blackness and questioning why the
entire purpose of his existence is to emulate the white man. As a good nigger he has even lost the
privilege of descending to a real hell. The

One of Trump s most memorable moments occurred during the Republican debate (Stewart,
2015). Trump came off as if he was above everyone else and that the whole debate was a waste of
his time. Constant facial expressions and hand gestures reflecting annoyance seemed to emphasize
this. As the other candidates spoke, Trump had a silent reaction to every comment, at times
reaching out and taping the other candidates on their arms. Though throughout, Trump constantly
did long and slow nods, this typically means that the person is listening and wants you to
continue speaking but also combining it with long and slow blinks means that Trump was trying
to block the person speaking at the moment out. He was disinterested and felt too superior to be
listening to all of it (Arechaederra, 2014). Here we can see typical styles of nonverbal
communication that Trump is giving off while in debates and interviews. He clearly has the

Well, you won t mind if I give barely any introduction to this recipe if your days are as rushed and

Water Scarcity A Growing Threat Of Humanity
Water Scarcity a Growing Threat to Humanity The world s population is growing. The need for
water is rising with the birth of every child. Sooner than most people would want to admit, the
water resources available in the world would be inadequate to cater for the needs of humanity.
As developing countries seek to become industrialized, more water will be needed for their
industries. The developed world is also not slowing down its water usage in its industries. Given
the important part it plays in growth, the world is well in its path to facing its worse season yet:
living without water. When one goes to a country where water problems are real, they find
businesses have made water a prominent factor in determining whether or not to set up and run
their businesses there. No one can afford to bury their head in the sand anymore. The water
problem that is not far away in the future must be addressed now. Water resources by 2050 The
society cannot afford to ignore the fact that water resources are limited. According to IFPRI
(International Food Policy Research Institute), by 2050, there will be 4.8 billion people who will
be struggling with limited water resources. This is over half of the world s population. As the
world s population grows, there will be a greater need for economic development and more food.

may have had slight ties to communism Miller believed that they did not deserve to be
blacklisted from all of media after the trials. Miller uses John Proctor, the protagonist of his
novel, to show the unfairness of these trials. Proctor, while not perfect, was the most sane and
righteous man in the town of Salem during the events of the novel, but he still was put in jail for
a crime that Miller believed would be minor in the eyes of his audiences. Proctor committed
adultery, but did not commit any crimes that would have been generous to Miller s audiences.
Even for this slight crime Proctor was put to death by the judges of Salem. This is in comparison
to the treatment of the Hollywood Ten by Mccarthy and Congress during the Second Red Scare,
where there crimes were slight, but they were put to death anyway due to a power trip by a a few
people in power. This direct comparison between Proctor and the Hollywood Ten allowed Miller to
make the Hollywood Ten seem more innocent and worthy of trust. His use of unfair treatment
against Proctor also made it seem to the audiences that Mccarthy and his

Rhetorical Analysis On Ghost Spuds
During the super bowl this year, Bud Light aired a commercial named Ghost Spuds that featured
a dog ghost named Spuds MacKenzie who was an iconic character of the franchise and a man.
During the commercial a man tells his friend that he wants to stay in his home for the night, when
the phone call ends the dog appears in front of the man. The commercial provides humor and
safety for the product they are selling and has a good platform for influence. This commercial does
demonstrate pathos because of the pity that the viewers are feeling for the man that does not want
to go out with his friends. The viewers feel this because of the reliability, they may be thinking
Who doesn t like to go out with their friends? . This shows that when going out with friends a great
time could be had with the product. The commercials intended... Show more content on

In 2017, everybody loves Dogs and Bud Light has used their old character to grab the attention
of more than just one audience group. Plus, the commercial airing during the Super Bowl is
kairos because of the popularity and the amount of people watching. This commercial does use
one of the 15 basic emotional appeals. Ghost Spuds used the Need for Affiliation because of
them telling the audience that the man is missing a great time and could possibly lose his
friends because of him deciding to stay home and not go out to drink Bud Light. Ghost Spuds
does use ethos because of the appeals it has to what the world is interested in now. Today s
culture is mostly about having a good time with people you care about and not to mention the
love for dogs. Another example of ethos used in the commercial is the return of Spuds, Spuds was
created by the beer company back in 1987 to help promote their beer (JustJared) , pertaining to the
history of the product and the appeal that it provides when they bring him back. This commercial,

Essay on Traditional Chinese Medicine
TCM, or Traditional Chinese Medicine, can be traced as far back as 1000 BC, where stone
acupuncture needles were believed to be used. Texts from that period also talked of Yin and
Yang and other concepts. The first written work on TCM is titled the Yellow Emperor s Inner
Classic, Huangdi Newijing (Gascoigne 11). This book was written in 300 BC, but entries date
back to the early 2700 s BC. The book is still used in universities of Chinese Medicine around the
world and is often called the bible of TCM. Today, TCM is still thriving in China and all of Asia.
In recent years, information on TCM has become available to people in the United States. The
United States has several schools of TCM, and it is now much easier to buy the necessary... Show

Cool dryness has the same dry symptoms as warm dryness, except now it also exhibits fever,
chills, headache, and other cold symptoms. The main difference between cold, and cool dryness
is that the person will show more signs of dryness. Dryness enters the body with other climactic
elements, so it can be more dangerous than the other 6 elements because of its ability to combine
its power (Gao 42 50). Internal dryness is caused by loss of blood and other body fluids. Internal
dryness usually occurs after a person has been sick with a disease that caused them to vomit or
to have diarrhea. It can also occur after a great loss of blood or sweat. To much sexual activity
can also result in internal dryness (Gascoigne 67 9). Summer heat is the only one of the 6
influences that only occurs during one season, in this case, the summer. Summer heat is caused
solely by the extreme heat that can occur in the summer time. The symptoms are very similar to
those of heat, but summer heat can also be contracted with dampness. Humidity and rain are
common in China during the summer, so a person could exhibit symptoms such as fever, flushed
face, achy joints, nausea, and fatigue at the same time (Gao 52 4). Other than six pernicious
influences, disease can also be caused as a result of your emotions and your diet (Gascoigne 62).
Well now that I had learned about the causes of disease, according to

What Are The Five Elements Of Strategy
Donald Hambrick and James Frederickson identify 5 elements that a successful strategy must have.
One of these elements is differentiator.
Explain the five elements and illustrate your discussion with examples of successful companies
from the world business.
Strategy is all about making important choices in a business. Donald Hambrick and James
Fredrickson created the five elements of strategy as way to reveal what the bits and pieces of
strategy are and how these elements fit together (Sourcesofinsight.com, 2017).
THE FIVE MAJOR ELEMENTS OF STRATEGY There are five main elements of strategy. They
involve
Arenas: Where will we be active? (Quilliam, 2016).
Vehicle: How will we get there? (Quilliam, 2016).
Differentiators: How will we win in the market place? (Quilliam, 2016).
Staging: What will be our speed and sequences of moves? (Quilliam, 2016).
Economic Logic: How will we obtain our returns? (Quilliam, 2016).

Strategists need to decide how the company will get there leading us to the third element called
Vehicle (Quilliam, 2016). Vehicles involves the process of participating in targeted arenas
(2012books.lardbucket.org, 2017). For instance, a firm that wants to go international can do so in
different ways (2012books.lardbucket.org, 2017). In a recent drive to enter certain international
markets, Walmart has opened new stores and grown organically. Doing this showed that Wal Mart
developed all the stores internally as opposed to acquiring stores that are already based in the
countries it wanted to enter (2012books.lardbucket.org, 2017). Currently, Walmart has purchased
existing retailers and is in the process of transferring its unique way of doing business to the
acquired companies in Germany and England (2012books.lardbucket.org,

The Tooth Fairy Essay
Santa, the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny, Truth in Parenting
The early childhood years are full of play, pretend and magical thinking. Young children put on
wings and take flight around preschool classrooms. They can be anyone they can imagine
superheroes, princes princesses, mommy, daddy, and even the dog or the cat. The magic will
gradually fade and they may have a few questions for you...
The Shift
Children cannot distinguish the difference between fantasy and reality like adults. They believe
that fantasy can be real because they do not know the limits of reality.[1] This limitless way to
see the world allows them to believe that anything can happen. For example, approximately 65%
of children ages have imaginary friends by the age of 7.[2] They may even get upset when we
forget to buckle their friend into the car. I remember my sister getting very upset when I seemed to
continuously sit on her imaginary friend in our living room. This lack of boundary between fantasy
and reality allows kids to believe in Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, and the Easter Bunny...until they
don t.

We Wear The Mask By Paul Laurence Dunbar
Shapeshifting requires the ability to transcend your attachments, in particular your ego attachments
to identity and who you are. If you can get over your attachment to labeling yourself and your
cherishing of your identity, you can be virtually anybody. You can slip in and out of different
shells, even different animal forms or deity forms. Zeena Schreck, religious leader of the Sethian
Liberation Movement. In the poem We Wear the Maskby Paul Laurence Dunbarthe reader should
learn that individuals feel the need to wear a mask to change their personality into the more ideal
individual which surpasses their confidence, fear, insecurities, and emotions. This poem develops
the realities about self image and how it makes individuals act in society.
Initially, the poem opens with We wear the mask that grins and lies, it hides our cheeks and
shades our eyes (Dunbar, 1 2). The mask presents the truthful and untruthful sides of individuals.
The mask is also a work of craftiness as it forces the individual to appear happy, regardless of the
pain they may be feeling beneath the surface. Individuals that struggle with themselves wear a
mask to show everyone else that they are not struggling and have everything figured out. Just like
being in pain With torn and bleeding hearts we smile (Dunbar, 3). Individuals force smiles on their
faces to portray to others that they are happy no matter whats going on in their life.
However, this poem is also relevant to the Nobody

Male Breast Cancer
Male Breast Cancer, Causes, Risk Factors and Prevention
By Istvan S Diego
Introduction
Notwithstanding that male breast cancer is a rare phenomenon, it is still possible. Such cases
account for only 1% of all breast cancer. The American Cancer Society forecasts that over 1,000
new cases of breast cancer in men will be diagnosed in 2010 ( Male Breast Cancer ). The survival
rate in men is lower than in women, mostly because men often report the symptoms of breast
cancer too late ( Male Breast Cancer ). The disease is more likely to spread, leaving many men
with less hope that treatment will lead to recovery. The main reasons of that are first of all the lack
of the research in this field that leads to the second reason that is men s ... Show more content on

Men with this condition have longer legs, a higher voice, and a thinner beard than average men
do. Their testicles are smaller than usual and do not produce functioning sperm cells, so the men
are infertile. Compared with other men, they have lower levels of androgens (male hormones)
and more estrogens (female hormones). For this reason, they often develop gynecomastia
(benign male breast growth) and have an increased risk of male breast cancer. * Radiation
exposure: A man whose chest area has been exposed to radiation (usually for treatment of a
cancer inside the chest such as Hodgkin s or non Hodgkin s lymphoma) has an increased risk of
developing breast cancer. * Liver disease: The liver plays an important role in sex hormone
metabolism by producing binding proteins, which carry the hormones in the blood. These binding
proteins affect the hormones activity. Men with severe liver disease such as cirrhosis have
relatively low levels of androgen activity and higher estrogen levels. For this reason, they may
have an increased risk of developing gynecomastia and breast cancer. * Estrogen treatment:
Estrogen related drugs are sometimes used in hormonal therapy of men with prostate cancer. This
treatment may cause a slight increase in breast cancer risk. However, this risk is small compared
with the benefits of this treatment in slowing the growth of prostate cancer. Men taking high doses

African American Population Epidemiology
Epidemiology is the study of the relationships between disease and causation in human populations.
It utilizes research and scientific methods to identify risk factors and approaches to decrease disease
risk and to promote healthy habits. Community health nurses use this science to assess, diagnose,
plan, and evaluate healthimprovement initiatives (Nies McEwen, 2015 a). Ecosocial epidemiologyis
a newer, more complex approach as it focuses on the role of social, environmental, political and
economic factors along with biological processes to understand health and illness (Nies McEwan,

Neonatal Nurse Research Paper
Neonatal Nurse I want to be a neonatal nurse who takes care of newborn infants who were born
prematurely. There are some procedures that may be needed for the care of the baby. What I
know about a neonatal nurse is that you need to have a four year bachelors and masters of science
in nursing degree. The reason I m interested in this career is because I want to save lives and make
a difference in the lives of the infants and their families. This career is something I will enjoy doing
even if it can be sad at times. The information I found out about a neonatal nurse was that their
duties include administering medications, monitoring vital signs and providing vital nutrients to
newborns. Most premature and sick newborns have lungs that aren t fully developed, the neonatal
nurse must ensure that infants are breathing and maturing properly. They provide complete care for
babies, such as attend deliveries, weigh and measure infants, bathe them and monitor their health.
They also teach new parents about newborn care and breastfeeding. Hospital work requires nurses
to be composed, caring and in control every second of their shift. Although neonatal nurses witness
the miracle of birth every day, they also view untimely... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

At that moment, a sense of despair washed over me as I realized that the whole world was

  • 2. The Insanity Defense And The Defense The insanity defense was first used by U.S. Congressman Daniel Sickles of New York in 1859 after he had killed his wife s lover, Philip Barton Key. The insanity defense asserts that a criminal defendant should not be found guilty due to the defendant s insanity, but insanity in this context refers to a very specific dysfunction. The theory behind the defense is that a person who is insane lacks the intent required to perform a criminal act because the person either does not know that the act is wrong or cannot control his or her actions even when the person understands that the act is wrong. The insanity defensecan in three ways: the insanity plea is rejected, the defendant is convicted as guilty but mentally insane, or the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shumey was tried for murder in the second degree, and his trial cost the county of San Luis Obispo seventy thousand dollars. Psychiatric fees alone cost the defendant seventy thousand two hundred dollars, which a quarter of the total price of the entire trial on his side (Feuerstein). However, this does not account for fees the plaintiff had to pay to ensure a fair evaluation of the defendant. In addition, this example is only an example of a mid ranged price of psychiatric fees. Multiple trials have exceeded Shumey s in psychiatric fees including the Crockwell case which accumulated just under twenty thousand dollars and the Brandon Woody case which accumulated over thirty one thousand dollars (Pemberton). The insanity defense accumulates an absurd amount of money towards the cost of the trial for such a diminutive chance of success. To go along with such a drastic increase in trial costs, the insanity defense only accounts for a minuscule number of trials while having an even lower success rate. While the rates may vary from state to state, on average less than one defendant in every one hundred actually raises the insanity defense. Within the small percentage that the defense is raised, the chance of the defense actually succeeding is even tinier. In 2005, the National Institute of Mental Health conducted an eight state study, in which they studied the success rate of the insanity defense within those ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Archetypes In Mordred Stories of Camelot s mighty warriors and the resulting Arthurian legends continue to be timeless as they are still told, centuries later. Many other tales have been lost in the passing of time, but these remain because they contain archetypes that are applicable to any and all people throughout the ages. They show their audience what it is like to struggle with temptation, love, and morals; not at all unlike the troubles people encounter today. But as time goes on, the perspective that these stories are seen from drastically changes. Protagonists become villains, motives are redefined, and love waxes cold. The most extreme of these changes is seen with the king s nephew Mordred as he goes from murderer, seen by Wace s poem Arthurian Chronicles: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No longer is Mordred just a product of the situation he was thrust into, but he is now the orchestrater of the catastrophic events that led to the death of England s most honorable man. He is shown pushing the limits of what is allowed, having gone an inch too far / With Colgrevance tonight. (Robinson). This quote shows him plotting to overthrow Arthur from his rightful position, and involving other, once morally sound knights. He not only puts himself in danger, but others as well, all for his own well being. The evidence of Mordred s now more evil intentions continues with the simple statement, in a becoming darkness Mordred smiled / Away the first accession of his anger. (Robinson). When Mordred is alone with his own thoughts, he does not retreat to the mind settling thoughts of how and when the situation got out of control and how he did the best he could in the given circumstances. Instead, when left to himself, Mordred takes pride in his plans and what they will accomplish in the lives of those around them. He is excited for what is to come. • 6. Master And Margarita Good Vs Evil Essay What is Good If There is No Evil? This satire involves the devil, a psych ward, and love. Although this story is fictional, it allegorises historical events. The Master and Margarita was written in the time of Stalinism. Mikhail Bulgakov, the author, used a lot of symbolism and magical realism to write about the environment he was in without being forthright about it. He used polarities, such as good vs evil and rational vs irrational, to get his point across to readers. The theme of The Master and Margarita is that there is always good in evil and evil in good. The motifs that Mikhail Bulgakov displayed throughout The Master and Margarita are the disguises of the devil and the behavior of nature. One motif that led to the realization of ... • 7. Review Of Billie Holiday s Song Strange Fruit Protest Music Assignment For this assignment, I chose the song Strange Fruit by Billie Holiday. She first performed this song in 1939, several years after the Civil War took place, but before the end of the Jim Crow South. Billie Holiday was born in the North, which was more supportive of equality between the races, but she was African American, and this was something that affected her life, even if she did not live in the South. This song is a protest song, subtle as it may be, against lynching and the Jim Crow Laws. It describes the lynching, and what can be seen after this deed is performed. Using imagery and metaphors, she demonstrates the wrongs of the Jim Crow South and lynching. This song was inducted into the Grammy Hall... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, the very first line of the song states Southern trees bear strange fruit , referring to the men being lynched to strange fruit. They are hanging from the tree, and they are strange fruit because that is not something that a tree produces. This however is a subtle metaphor for this action. A few lines down, she sings Black bodies swinging in the southern breeze , which is clearly about lynching. After this, Billie s song goes, Scent of magnolias, sweet and fresh. Then the sudden smell of burning flesh , which shows a contrast between the peace and calm, and then the abrupt disruption of nature by the white men. She is obviously putting the smell in a negative light by describing the sweet flowers first, and how the overbearing smell disturbed it. The final important line is Here is fruit for the crows to pluck , which is referring to the Jim Crow South and the white men that take part in the lynching. They literally pick out someone that they do not like just because of the color of their skin and they lynch them. Billie Holiday s song ends with here is a strange and bitter crop , which still compares African American men to crops that have been picked (lynched), and after that they are just left there and no one gives another thought about ... • 8. Knights Impact On Society Many kings formed armies using feudalism. One way of gathering an army, was through their nobles. Since the nobles received land from the monarch, they were obliged to get the knights the king had asked for ( What was the impact 2). To gather the amount of knights the lords were told to gather, the lords gave land to sub tenants ( What was the impact 2). And to lure knights into service, they were offered incentives. Knights received incentives in return for their service. One of the things they were given was wealth. Knights pledged loyalty and military services to a lord in exchange for clothes, food, a home (sometimes in the castle), other manor made items, and wealth (Beil 14 15). These gifts were called fiefs. Some knights were given land as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, when receiving land, the lord received power over the peasants of that village. Knights also got support, a share of the treasure and goods that were taken in battle, and a sort of insurance. This insurance was that if he died, his children were protected until the girl married and the boy became a vassal, and that the widow and the land were protected (Smith 3). Also appealing to would be knights was the rise in status. Knights were given a fief, often land, making them a vassal, and therefore a lord (Beil 15). Knights were considered to be like the rock stars of their time as they were well off and thought as honorable, chivalrous, and wealthy (Nardo 29). Because of this they were sought after by high class ladies looking for a husband, and by troubadours who looked for the heroes of their songs (Nardo 31). Because of these advantages, the feudal oath became a political tool where it previously had been a vow of military duty (Beil 9). It was understood that if he did not uphold his promise it would all be taken back. (Beil 15). However, knights did not only gain as they also had to work or their king/lord. One can think anything that he/she that comes into their mind; however, no one will ever know what they are thinking. It is impossible to read minds; therefore, no one can judge anyone based on what they know, their thoughts, and what they believe. In fact, this is stated in John Ruskin s quote: What we think, or what we know, or what we believe is, in the end, of little consequence. The only consequence is what we do. This quote primarily means that one cannot get into trouble unless they take action to access them into a situation. Moreover, John Ruskin s statement is correct. One can think of anything that comes to their mind, and they cannot be judged for it because no one knows what that thought is. Accordingly, thoughts, good or bad, are harmless. A thought being innocuous is shown in George Orwell s novel, 1984. In this text, a government attempts to take over the minds of its citizens. This happens if they are known to believe in the wrong things. Wrong beliefs include believing in Big Brother as the nation s leader. Furthermore, Winston, the main character, was down with the so called Big Brother, however, he never stated his wrong beliefs (until revealed at the end). Because his thoughts were not spoken of, the government did not find out that he wanted Big Brother to rule. In effect, Winston was not punished for his beliefs, considering no one knew and could judge him on it. Not getting punishment shows that there is no consequence in keeping your thoughts in, while the consequences can be extreme, getting brainwashed, if you act on it. Similarly, within Barbara Ehrenreich s Serving in Florida, the narrator went against her thoughts on speaking out in order to not be punished. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Spinal Imobilization In Emergency Medical Services Spinal immobilization has been a common practice in Emergency Medical Services. The act of spinal immobilization is normally used when a patient has suffered a significant trauma. Spinal immobilization consists of securing the body to a rigid, long spinal board, securing the neck with a cervical collar, and then lastly, securing the head to the board between towels or wedges. Initially starting with the effectiveness of backboarding, continuing into the vital functions that backbaording can impede and finalizing with the vacuum mattress versus the traditional backboard. Ultimately, spinal immobilization of all trauma patients can do more harm than good, and all cases should not be fully immobilized. Backboarding is currently still being used in EMS, however is it as effective as it is believed to be? Recent studies have argued that backboarding is not as effective as previously conceived. This, however, is no longer the reality of our world today. Because of human impacts on the environment, fields have been turned to shopping malls, lakes have been dried up, and undomesticated creatures are being wiped out by the thousands. One main perpetrator of this destruction is ecotourism. ecotourism is defined as, travel to natural areas in ways that conserve the environment and improve the welfare of local people. ( Significance of Protecting Natural Sites for Ecotourism Development ). The term ecotourism was first used in the 1970 s, but became popular only in 1990 when the International Ecotourism Society (TIES) was founded. The main goals of ecotourism were to have a means for people to tour natural places, but without having a negative impact on the environment. ( Ecotourism ). This, however, has not been the case. Preservation of the environment is no longer the main goal of ecotourism companies, for the great profits have become many of their main concerns. The positives aspects of ecotourism are not worth the extinction of endangered animals, the overuse of natural resources, and the disturbance of local communities. Ecotourism has had a wide and vast history, spanning all around the globe. The International Ecotourism Society (TIES) was first founded in 1990 and is the world s longest running ecotourism company. Put simply, beta measures volatility, or the tendency to swing up and down, as compared to a benchmark. Fund managers that take a bullish stance on the short term horizon may actively stock up on high beta equities to drive up returns. Controlling beta becomes an obsession for managers; and after they get the balance just right, they feel confident and reassured in their riskprofile. Menchero, Nagy, and Singh concentrate on three estimates of beta to test the accuracy of the measure overall. The first, naive beta, makes a gross simplification that all stocks have a beta of 1. • 15. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Being A Gay Teenager Dad overhears son saying he wants to come out, writes him a letter that goes viral ( removed HTML ) It isn t easy being a teenager. Teenagers are halfway to adulthood and are working on figuring out who they are and what kind people they re going to be. That inner battle surfaces when they act out and when they get emotional. We ve all been there. What s harder than being a teenager, however, is being a gay teenager. Gay teenagers have all of the regular teenage issues that they have to go through and then they have a little something extra to work out. Firstly, they can be trying to sort out if they are indeed gay. If they are then they have to figure out how to come out to people and if it s safe for them to do so. Will their parents reject them? It s a real possibility, unfortunately. How will their friends and neighbors treat them? These are all questions that they have to wrestle with, and that s a lot for anyone, let alone a teenager. This Dad s response after overhearing his son saying he wants to come out is the response that every gay kid should receive. Meet Nate Nate is a teenager who is dating a boy named Mike. We don t know too much about Nate, except that he s scared to come out to his parents and that he s on the phone with Mike discussing this. He s worried about his parents response and what he ll do if the conversation ends up going south. This is a fear that s all too real for most gay kids and it shouldn t be. Kids should be loved because they re perfect just how they are. There s nothing wrong with being gay. Nate s Dad reminds him of this with his perfect response via a written letter that s since gone viral. ( removed HTML ) Dad s response Nate s Dad overhears part of Nate s conversation with Mike and he knows that Nate wants to come out to him and his wife. He also knows how anxious Nate is about the whole thing, as well as how afraid he is, so he writes Nate a note. His note is the perfect example for every parent about how to handle your kid coming out: Nate: I overheard your phone conversation with Mike last night about your plans to come out to me. In order to illustrate this technique the pigments found in the leaves of spinach were separated by means of thin layer chromatography (TLC). All chromatographic techniques have one principle in common; a liquid or gaseous solution of sample, called the moving phase, is passed (moved) through an adsorbent, called a stationary phase. With TLC the adsorbent of choice was one of the most common coatings, silica gel, SiO2. This compound is polar, and therefore, is frequently used in the separation of polar substances such as aldehydes, ketones, amines and carboxylic acids. It seems that Williams has made it seem that Stanley did not cause Blanches downfall to much extent that he only sped up Blanche s decline as she was already on a decline, regardless of Stanley s added affects. However it can be argued that although Blanche was on the verge of a downfall she would have recovered as she had the strength to go to her sister for help. Yet it can be said that Stanley stopped Blanche recovering and aided her downfall to continue. Williams shaped Stanley s character as a dominant, prideful and somewhat possessive one... Though throughout, Trump constantly did long and slow nods, this typically means that the person is listening and wants you to continue speaking but also combining it with long and slow blinks means that Trump was trying to block the person speaking at the moment out. He was disinterested and felt too superior to be listening to all of it (Arechaederra, 2014). Here we can see typical styles of nonverbal communication that Trump is giving off while in debates and interviews. He clearly has the personality that hints that he has a believed status of hierarchy and that everyone s opinion is not even worth listening to. Because this is now seen as normal for Trump to act in this disrespecting manner, any change to his behavior would be seen as obscure and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At first, I thought for a while if this soup really needed an introduction then I realized that it was equally important to share with you the interesting facts about this awesome and nutritious soup. As developing countries seek to become industrialized, more water will be needed for their industries. The developed world is also not slowing down its water usage in its industries. During the Second Red Scare the Hollywood Ten were a group of ten actors, directors, and producers who according to Senator Joseph Mccarthy had communist ties and were trying to spread Soviet Propaganda through American society by way of media. Even though these actors may have had slight ties to communism Miller believed that they did not deserve to be blacklisted from all of media after the trials. Miller uses John Proctor, the protagonist of his novel, to show the unfairness of these trials. Proctor, while not perfect, was the most sane and righteous man in the town of Salem during the events of the novel, but he still was put in jail for a crime that Miller believed would be minor in the eyes of his audiences. Proctor committed adultery, but did not commit any crimes that would have been generous to Miller s audiences. Even for this slight crime Proctor was put to death by the judges of Salem. This is in comparison to the treatment of the Hollywood Ten by Mccarthy and Congress during the Second Red Scare, where there crimes were slight, but they were put to death anyway due to a power trip by a a few people in power. In the poem We Wear the Maskby Paul Laurence Dunbarthe reader should learn that individuals feel the need to wear a mask to change their personality into the more ideal individual which surpasses their confidence, fear, insecurities, and emotions. This poem develops the realities about self image and how it makes individuals act in society. Initially, the poem opens with We wear the mask that grins and lies, it hides our cheeks and shades our eyes (Dunbar, 1 2). The mask presents the truthful and untruthful sides of individuals. The mask is also a work of craftiness as it forces the individual to appear happy, regardless of the pain they may be feeling beneath the surface. Individuals that struggle with themselves wear a mask to show everyone else that they are not struggling and have everything figured out. Just like being in pain With torn and bleeding hearts we smile (Dunbar, 3). Individuals force smiles on their faces to portray to others that they are happy no matter whats going on in their life.
