A Chi-Square Test Of Wholeness-Of-Fit

A Chi Square test of goodness of fit was preformed to determine if all personnel are evenly distributed

Color, Opacity And Design In Antigone
This painting uses color, opacity and design in multiple ways to convey Antigone s thoughts and
actions throughout the play. Breaking the painting down into four major points of representation is the
best way to describe the thinking behind this piece. The first general section of the painting being the
face. I gave her doll like features to draw in your eyes, all of the features making your eye wander to
her eyes, the eyes are one of the most communicative parts of the face, and by adding longing, watery
looking eyes, it communicates that she is struggling with something. The light accents of red around
her eyes are to draw your eyes to hers and to represent how badly she wants to bury her brother s
body, and the aftermath of her decision.

The Life and Opinions of Tristam Shandy Essay
The term identity is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary as blah blah blah . This concept can be
viewed as personal and individual to one s self, and is distinguished as an umbrella term to attributes
such as; consciousness, heritage, name, appearance, and the soul. As Sterne s novel Tristram Shandy
draws influence from John Locke s An Essay of Human Understanding, in which Locke discusses the
origin of personal identity, the individual identity is evidently reflected within the text. The novel
demonstrates Sterne s interpretation of the personal identity through the construction of each of his
unique characterisations. Tristram Shandy discusses the concept and origin of the individuality
identity both reflecting and opposing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sterne can be seen to draw influence from the 18th Century philosopher, John Locke. Locke discusses
the theory that individual identity is formed through consciousness and experience, and not upon the
soul and body; this may show us wherein personal identity consists: not in the identity of substance,
but, as I have said, in the identity of consciousness. (Locke). As Tristram believes the other
misfortunate experiences within his childhood amount to his individual identity, this also suggests an
origin of identity developed from his personal experiences. He believes that experiencing the many
misfortunes such as his accidental naming and castration, disturbance as a homunculus and broken
nose reshape his identity and that he is in a sense doomed to live a misfortunate life. In response to
reading Tristram Shandy alongside the work of Locke, Heather Keenleyside states that such readings
often understand Tristram Shandy as a novelization of Locke s much discussed distinction [...] On this
view, Tristram Shandy follows Locke in arguing for the priority of personal identity over the body and
its associates: the family and the species, birth and death. (Keenleyside, pg117) The protagonist states
that the soul and body are joint sharers in everything they get (Sterne, pg435), composing them as
separate but equal quantities of his

Management Plan For The Music Festival
Project management has always been an important branch of management. It involves gathering
different resources with using a scientific approach of management to build all types of projects,
starting from infrastructure facilities and buildings, to IT projects, or even to prepare and manage
special events. As far as special events are concerned, Music Festivals usually require precise planning
and organising for many reasons. The huge number of guests associated with such events, and the
different types of resources needed to complete the project are all crucial elements, and will make
planning for the Music Festival such a challenging task for the project manager, especially if it lasts
for few days. The lack of accommodation, the hilly nature of the ground, and unexpected changes in
weather are all problems facing the project manager that need to be addressed appropriately. This
essay will discuss the resourcing plan, risk management plan, and leadership and management plan for
the Music Festival. it will also discuss the reasons behind choosing the predictive approach among
other available options in implementing project life cycles.
The Music Festival is going to be held in the countryside of Victoria during the Australia Day
weekend in 2016. The expected number of guests are between 8000 12000 guests and might change
without prior notice. The local accommodation is limited, which means many extra units or little tents
will be prepared and provided to address this

Dome Of Rock
The Dome of the Rock is among the largest Islamic shrines that are located in Jerusalem. Built almost
thirteen centuries ago, this shrine remains one of the most gorgeous and treasured architectural
buildings in the world. It is adorned with a splendid gold dome and an elaborate inscription that
represents the Islamic religion. This shrine is built on a sacred rock that was considered to be holy
before Islam started. To the Jewish, this rock was the very spot where Abraham was meant to sacrifice
Isaac, his son. Besides, the shrine is believed to stand at the spot of the Holy of Hollies of Herod s
Temple and Solomon s Temple (Grabar 59). According to Balfour (117) the shrine was constructed

The Current Pressurized Oxygen Tension Based Indices Response
In this thesis, I have attempted to further explore the nature of the current utilised oxygen tension
based indices response, with a view to its use as a tool to assess the pulmonary oxygenation in
critically ill patients. Furthermore, this thesis developed a new index to assess pulmonary
oxygenation. This topic was explored with external pulmonary factors to quantify oxygenation defect
through a maze of mathematics, different diseases, and pathophysiology. There was one or two ways
that could lead us to the answer and many dead end routes. Ultimately, the research produced an
equation that was more robust than the PaO2/FiO2 ratio in terms of less variation. The first chapter
described two different types of oxygen indices and its use. The second chapter described the medical
simulator in general and the Nottingham Physiology Simulator (NPS) in particular. In chapter three,
we examined the variation of certain oxygen indices with changes in the following external
physiological factors (FIO2, Hb, RQ, and VO2) without changing the pulmonary configuration status.
This investigation was done with ARDS simulated patients using a validated NPS model. The study
demonstrates that the external physiological factors induced a remarkable variation in comparing to
oxygen indices, and the use of each index depends on the type of the external physiological factors.
However, we conclude that clinicians should be aware of using the best index according to patient s
status. Accordingly,

would help me find my mom. I ran out onto the porch and stared out into the pitch black night. What

An Understanding Of God And A New World Of Faith
Faith, a word that has a different meaning to every individual that walks this Earth, cannot be so easily
defined. Faith, when talking about it in the religious sense, makes it even that much harder to
understand. Everyone believes in something, and each of those beliefs have an enormous effect on
how they live their lives. Gerald O Collins, a Jesuit Priest, states that within the Christian faith, lies
two components: Fides Quae and Fides Qua. Fides Quae is the faith which is believed, or the content
of that faith. Fides Qua is the individuals own personal commitment to God. Throughout this paper I
will demonstrate faith using The Compendium, and A New World of Faith to show how a good
understanding of faith can reveal the truth from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This statement simplified would essentially mean that in order to have faith you must be able to trust
in God, even though we
2
cannot physically be in his presence on Earth. To elaborate, a faithful follower of christ must first have
knowledge of the religion, agree to the terms, and then trust in that faith. Faith requires an individual
to not only trust in God himself, but to also firmly believe the scriptures and teachings from within the
Bible as well. Both this knowledge and trust is very crucial to the understanding and involvement with
the Catholic faith. So many people simply agree with the teachings of the Bible, but do not fully trust
in its meaning. For example, every Catholic understands that Jesus was nailed to the cross and died for
our salvation, but they don t believe that in the harder times in life, that Jesus will come through on
this promise for us. Being humble and opening oneself up to this idea of a loving faith relationship
with God is what truly defines the term above all else. A good example of this concept from scripture
would be from (John 3:16) For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that
whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. This type of knowledge trust
relationship we have with God is a type of rational faith, or fides et ratio. We must have strongly
backed reasoning for what we

An External Orientation rather than an Inward Focus is useful in understanding the concept of value.
Describe Value Creation from the context of Low Cost Airlines (No Frill airlines). Compare it with
how the Indian Railways creates value.
Answer 1
Value creation is a term which cannot be defined / quantified specifically and measured accurately or
attributed a particular definition. It has a distinct and broad view and originates from the customers
point of view rather than monetary value which originates from the organizations financials. An
external orientation is important and useful to understand value rather than an inward focus.

The Outbreak of the Spanish Civil War Essay
The Outbreak of the Spanish Civil War
To this day the Spanish Civil War is still remembered as the single most pivotal moment in the history
of Spanish politics. The only way of understanding how 600,000 Spaniards were killed between 1936
and 1939 is to ask ourselves why the civil war broke out in Spain in 1936. There were a number of
reasons which led to the civil war in Spain. The main and most significant being the increased
political polarization between the left and right wing parties.
This polarization primarily began within Spanish society, which had been characterized by its strong
religious beliefs and conservative values, as it remained a strict Roman Catholic country for many ...

On the other hand, was the conservative nationalists represented by the Church, the army and many
large landowners and industrialists. Most of which wanted Spain to return to the Golden Ages of
sixteenth century Catholic Spain and were in favour of the Monarchy in order to remain an
authoritarian state. This division was highlighted further by a number of pronunciamientos[6] and
uprisings between the two sides adding to the increased political tension.
For the right, they saw the defence of religious interests as their fundamental political task. [7]
Whereas, the liberals reflected the increasingly anti Catholic feeling throughout Spain. Therefore, it
can be understood why the liberal views on the Church, and its policies within the second republic to
reduce the Church s power, angered the right wing parties enough for them to retaliate through a
number of uprisings throughout Spain. Especially during the declaration of the second republic stating
that Spain no longer possessed an official religion.
During the constitutional monarchy of Alfonso CIII, the left was frustrated by the farce of the electoral
system[8], which up until the second republic was formed on the 14th April 1931, remained in favour
of local bosses, also given

What is heroism? Wonder Woman, Batman, and Superman among many others are the people who we
idolize and perceive as heroes from an early age. Perhaps we do this because they have incredible
powers we wish we had as kids and as adults. Or maybe because they often save lives and in extreme
cases, the world. If that is the case, why do we not consider and idolize real people such as Mahatma
Gandhi, Martin Luther King J.R, or Bertrand Russell who through civil disobedience showed true
heroism? They too had incredible powers and saved lives, so why not consider them heroes and
idolize them? Gandhi, King, and Russell showed the world that one doesn t need laser vision to

White Supremacy In African Americans
Race refers to a group of persons who are different from other groups due to their alleged genetic and
physical traits. On one hand, racism is the preconception that members of a certain race are prime than
individuals of other races. In America, white supremacy is the belief that whites are superior to others.
White supremacy took different forms, such as colonialism, slavery, and apartheid and has led to
institutional racism. Members of minority races, particularly African Americans, have experienced
institutional racism in both political and social institutions in many forms including discrimination in

My First Lesson On The Battle Of Lexington And Concord
This week I only attended three days for block teaching. Monday was Columbus Day so the school
was closed and everyone had the day off. Friday I did not attend because it was fall break for WIU so I

headings in their textbook. Then on Wednesday I taught my first lesson on the battles of Lexington
and Concord. The students analyzed two primary source documents then as a class we discussed their
similarities and differences. The lesson went well despite the fact that two thirds of the class was
missing due to state testing. The fact that majority of the class made me worried for the lesson I
prepared for the following day because the two lessons were designed to match up. However, I was
pleasantly surprised that Thursday s lesson went as smoothly as it did. The students stayed on task and
were focused so I did not have really any issues with classroom management. Since this week was
short and I taught two out of the three days I was present my teacher didn t have much involvement

The Crime And Crime Prevention
In the world there are many social problems and most of them affect each and every one of us, such as
cancer or Ebola. One that stands out is the rise in crime in America. Crime is huge in America
although law enforcement say they are doing something about and have it handled, the truth is it is out
of control. Stated in America.Net in an article online Attorney General Eric Holder spoke at the
Project Safe Neighborhoods annual conference in New Orleans on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 and
endorsed three crime control strategies. Law enforcement through cooperative efforts between police,
community and prosecutors to reduce violent crime, and the incarceration of high risk offenders.
Project Safe Neighborhoods. Crime prevention by addressing underlying social issues. Reentry
programs to assist offenders returning from prison. If these programs are being put in place then there
should be a decreased incidence of crime in America. People can t even leave their homes without
having to worry if something is going to happen to them. This is a growing concern in America, but
what is America doing to prevent this from happening? There are many organizations working on the
issue of crime to reduce the number of incidences. There is one main contributing factor lead increases
the likelihood of crime and that is poverty. However, it is ironic that although poverty is a not so
pleasant thing, it is needed to prevent communism and the risk of taking our freedom away as stated as

Special Education And The Civil Rights Movement
Special education is a relatively new concept in education. The question is why? Although, the Federal
Government required all children to attend school since 1918, this did not apply to students with
disabilities. Many state laws gave school districts the ability to deny access to individuals they deem
uneducable. The term uneducable varied from state to state, school to school, and even individual to
individual. If students were accepted into the school, they were placed in regular classrooms with their
peers with no support or in classrooms that were not appropriate to meet their needs. This started to
change with the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950s and 1960s. The lawsuit Brown vs the Board of
Education sued to end segregation of public schools laid the ground work for Individuals with
Disabilities Act. The next major impact in education was the enactment of Elementary and Secondary
Act signed into effect by President Lyndon Johnson in 1965. The purpose of this law was to provide
fair and equal access to education for all, established higher standards, and mandated funds for
professional development, resources for support education programs, and parent involvement. Under
this law, programs like Head Start were created and celebrated their 50th anniversary this year.

From the results produced, I am at the deduction that SMART is not an acronym after all. SMART is
basically a tracking system, it keeps track of all our inventory, the on hand counts, and can
automatically reorder product that is low or empty. As stated last week, most ... Show more content on

Training usually takes less than one day. (Inventory FAQ)
Weaknesses of SMART
In all actuality, these are mostly just minor annoyances. Firstly, the system s on hand counts only
update once every two hours. This may be because of the huge amounts of data that need to be
updated, but customers get angry when the on hand says 25 and one can t be found. My second
complaint is that the system has no way of recognizing theft. Again, this produces wrong on hand
counts which sometimes become negatives, and is an overall pain to figure out what is actually wrong.
I guess one could say my main complaint against the SMART system is human error. But what
program can completely remove it?
Possible Improvements
I think the best solution for this problem would be removal of human interaction, but I realize that this
is not possible. Therefore, my second proposition would be not allowing just any Associate to operate
the Telxon. I have been there a total of 4 months and I can change prices and inventory counts at my
leisure. I m sure you can imagine the havoc that could be wreaked if I weren t an honest Associate. I
think there should be at least some kind of intensive training. Most of my training was in the same day
and lasted under an hour. Instead of allowing anyone these options, just a handful of Associates should

Deere quarterly sales analysis Essay
TO: JB Penn, Chief Economist, Deere Co.
FROM:
DATE: 29 October 2014
SUBJECT: Quarterly sales analysis
Following an analysis of sales data between 1995 and 2012, it is recommended that that Deere and Co.
incorporate the seasonal indicator variables model to forecast future sales. In the regression analysis
for this model it was determined that it was able to explain approximately
90% of the variability in past sales. Adjustments to this forecasting model can be made by
incorporating overall economic climate projections, long term weather forecasts, and commodity
market futures.
As evidenced in the sales plot, from January 31, 1995 through July 31, 2014 John Deere has enjoyed
steady sales growth with seasonal peaks recorded at end of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

If a strong correlation exists, forecasts of these variables could be coupled with the sales forecasts to
strengthen or adjust future sales predictions.

Reflection Paper On Regular Council Meeting
Regular City Council Meeting
I have always prided myself as a person who knows virtually everything that happens around my
community. It is common for humans to judge or misjudge what they do not know or understand. Too
often we are quick to criticize and lash after what other people say or do simply because we do not
understand it. This fact describes the character and attitude of many people especially when it comes
to politics and how a country is run right from the top to the bottom. The average people is generally
unconcerned with political affairs like how politicians spend their tax money. You only need to look at
the dismally low voter turn out to confirm this fact. This should to change and for me, this change
came on 26th October 2017, when I decided to attend The Tempe City Regular Council Meeting. I had
never attended such a meeting before. Part of the reason is perhaps owing to the attitude of most
people as I explained earlier but more particularly, I had not seen any local issue that moved me
enough to demand the necessity to have my voice heard or to be curious enough to want to find out
about the secrets of the operations of the local government. Generally, I knew that the decisions made
and policies developed by the city government affected my life directly or indirectly. However, to sit
and watch all the work and grind that goes to the formulation of these policies and decisions has made
me realize that democracy is not self driving.
The Chambers
After completing my classes for the day, I went directly to Tempe City Hall City Council Chambers
which is housed in the Harry E. Mitchell Government Center. As I got in two minutes before the
official starting time, the room was almost fully occupied but I was lucky to secure a seat at a position
where I could follow the proceedings comfortably. The chamber is divided into two seating areas one
for the Council Members and the other for the members of the public. The two areas face each other
and are separated in the middle by a corridor that connects to two main entrance/exit points. The area
accommodating the councilmembers is at a relatively elevated angle compared to the area where the
citizens sit to facilitate easy and effective engagement.

Plant Kinship In Plants
Plants are boring. That has been the belief of mankind for generations. Animals are obviously highly
complex creatures with complex organ systems, and even more intricate organs like the brain. The
animal brain is able to sense surroundings, detect eminent danger, form relationships with other
animals, and recognize families. However, even without a brain, plants are capable of all this and
more. For example, Parasitic plants such as the Dionaea muscipula are able to sense and trap their
prey, the Mimosa pudica has the ability to sense touch and wilt, and plants like the Cuscuta Pentagona
can sense volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from tomato plants to form a parasitic relationship
(Biedrzycki M et al. 2010). Furthermore, some positive ways that plants exhibit communication
includes kinship. As children, humans are taught to share their toys and food with their siblings. Plants
it seems, have the same concept to ensure optimal growth and survival, as they act selflessly towards
their relatives, share resources, and exhibit less competition and more cooperation with their kin.
Plants are able to recognize fellow kin through responses to VOCs from relatives, and perform acts of
altruism to kin by resource partitioning amongst siblings through root allocation (Karban R et al.
2013). The current research on plant kinship and areas of future research will be discussed, as well the
controversies surrounding this subject. Despite the debate on plant kinship,

The Outsides And The Wednesday Wars And The Outsiders
People with normal names live a privileged life. If your first name is something like James or Emma
and your last name is something like Jones or Williams then you have no idea what it s like to have a
name that is unusual or original. However, the main characters from the novels The Outsiders and The
Wednesday Wars know this feeling too well. Imagine having the name Ponyboy Curtis, or Holling
Hoodhood because you could definitely have some trouble fitting in being called by a name like that.
The Wednesday Wars is about a 13 year old boy growing up in Long Island during the late 1960 s
living through all the politics and opinions in the year but also dealing with small middle schooler
problems like having to wear tights in a play and getting bullied by the big kids . The outsiders is
about a 14 year old boy growing up in Tesla, Oklahoma also during the late 1960 s. However, in this
story the kid doesn t talk about politics at all, instead he talks about his life struggles and real
problems like the death of his parents, living a poor life where his two big brothers have to work jobs
and not go to school to support them, and his brotherhood with the boys in their gang called the
greasers. However, these two boys, despite having very different upbringings definitely have a few
things in common, starting with their unique names. Imagine trying to live a perfect suburban life and
having the last name Hoodhood. Or trying to be tough to stay alive but the first name

Case Study: The Court Was Appalled
In Tomcik v. Ohio Dep t of Rehabilitation Correction, the plaintiff, Tomcik, was in the custody of the
defendant, a penal institution. Tomcik alleged that it was the delay in her examination that ultimately
led to the removal of her right breast; had she been seen in a more timely manner, much of the breast
could have been spared. The defendant, the corrections department, contended that even if it were
negligent, Tomcik s cancer was so advanced when discovered that it would nevertheless have required
removal of her breast. The Ohio Court of Appeals held that the delay in providing treatment to Tomcik
fell below the medically acceptable standard of care.
Summarize the Case: The Court Was Appalled.
Janet Tomcik, age 31, was assign to participate in the Department of Rehabilitation and Correction
center in the state of Ohio on April 28, 1989 for having burglar tools in her custody. The policy of the
institutes states every new inmate must have a physical examination to record current medical status.
Ms. Tomcik had her medical assessment done on May 26, 1989 by Dr. Evans. The next day she
inspected her own breasts and found a pea size lump in the right one. She notified medical personal
but she did not receive a re examination until June 21 by a nurse who stated the mass was large.

happens. Author Harlan Coben writer of The Undercover Parent , believes parents should monitor
their children s software. Even though children find software useful, parents should monitor their kids
software because children can be cyber bullied. Children can also be in danger of pedophiles .
Writer Harlan Coben, states in his article, Everything your child types can already be seen by the
world. Teachers, potential employers, friends, neighbors, can view the things your children are doing.

can see conversations that were talked about before. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Coben states the dangers, First, we ve all heard about the young boy unknowingly conversing with a
pedophile. You may hear that an internet predator approached or kidnapped a child on the news, but as
a parent you will assume its not happening to your child. Kids, teenagers, and their parents can t tell
an internet predators until it s too late. According to Pure sight, 100 percent of the cases, teens that are
the victims of sexual predators have gone willingly to meet with them. Also teens are willing to meet
with strangers: 16 percent of teens considered meeting someone they ve only talked to online and 8
percent have actually met someone they only knew online
The most important reason parents should monitor their kids software is because children can be cyber
bullied . Coben also talked about the girl who was cyber bullied to the point where she committed
suicide. Is my child being cyber bullied? As a parent this is a question you should ask yourself. Many
parents realize there s something wrong with their child when it s too late. Maybe monitoring and
checking up on your child can help prevent these dangers.
Although children find software useful , parents should monitor their kids software for two main
reasons. First, children can be cyber bullied . But most importantly, children can be in danger of

Communication And Cross Cultural Communication
The paradigm of culture is essential in the human day to day conversation of cross cultural
communication. To effectively and appropriately communicate with an individual of a different
culture an individual needs to fully understand the beliefs, norms and stereotypes affiliated with the
culture. The process of learning a language accompanies the positives and negatives of what is
acceptable within the culture in the context of communication. To equip and guide the learner,
simultaneously diffusing cultural assumptions which are considered untrue. This essay illuminates the
impact of cultural blunders, reviewing previous studies of effective communication and cross cultural
barriers in communication, supported by focus on the Chinese and French culture. Although a group is
not defined by its cultural expectations because individuals differ based on various influential factors.
On the other hand, it can also be argued that a part of cultural awareness entails knowledge of
behaviours and linguistics, which associates with stereotypes. The lack of zeal to learn about the
culture and lack of delve; results in an individual s reliance on stereotypes which may be informative
in outlying what may be acceptable within a specific group. However, can be of negative results

Disadvantages Of Mirrors
DECORATING WITH MIRROS: DO IT THE RIGHT WAY
Mirrors are not usually the things to people pay attention to the most when decorating their rooms.
Not everyone realizes the practical and exciting benefits than mirrors can bring to a space. It is such a
waste if we don t know how to make use of these beautiful, elegant but underrated decorative items.
These are handy tips you should bear in mind when decorating your house with mirrors:
1. Recognizing the benefits that using mirrors can bring

Follow feng shui rules
Feung shui is an ancient Chinese methods of positioning objects to create a harmonious environment.
Feng shui rules can be really useful in creating harmony and comfort.
According to these rules, a good mirror should be clean and clear. It must be in one piece (a broken
mirror is bad luck) and is placed in a suitable height so that you don t have to bend down or stand on
tiptoe. One of the areas that is considered unsuitable for mirror is the bedroom: a mirror over the
headbroad can be acceptable.
It is fine to hang a mirror over the entry ways to welcome your guest or over a fireplace to balance the
energy and reflect the soft, flickering fire.
3. And the Donts
Don t just place them anywhere Mirrors can act as nice decorative items, yes. But they should be used
creatively to enhance a room s appearance or reflect something that is worth our attention. A big

Negativity Is The Enemy Of Creativity
Negativity is the enemy of creativity David Lynch. Over the past few months of being on my
Instagram account and looking at the comments and pictures of tof people on Instagram, I noticed that
people in this generation are more critical of other people than generations in years past. Two people
in particular, who have been on the receiving end, are Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil two professional
soccer players who play in London for Arsenal FC. Lately their team has not been playing very well or
getting good results in their games; it s evident in the pictures and captions, or lack of captions, that
they post on Instagram. You can tell that people who follow them are very upset by the negative and
dismissive comments on their posts. This exemplifies that in today s society, people have become
more judgemental of the pictures and comments others post on Instagram. One example of this is seen
profoundly on one of the pictures that Alexis Sanchez posted after a loss to Liverpool FC, 4 0. The
picture depicts Alexis squatting on the pitch after being scored on for the fourth time. I noticed that in
the picture below, we see Alexis in frustration with the way that he and his teammates have played
throughout the game (@alexis_officia1). Looking back through his account I made a connection that
directly relates to an incident that happened last year with the club. During that time it was about how
Alexis was reacting/playing on the field during games. He would mope around like he didn t care or
didn t want to be there. Also, during that time the comments were the same as they are now. It is also
evident that he is frustrated with the situation at hand because there was no caption to go along with
the picture. On all his other posts he includes some sort of caption, but in this case he was clearly too
distraught and upset to write one. It was definitely clear that the fans did not like the way he went
about about the loss. The evidence in the comments suggest that they want Alexis to stop acting like a
baby or get out of Arsenal because they don t want a player who won t throw a temper tantrum when
they lost a game (Anonymous 2 and Anonymous 4). I believe that these people have the right to be
upset but they

Media Influence On American Popular Culture
American popular culture which was ideological, worked to promote the interests of American
capitalism. Culture industries were controlled by giant corporations which were well organised to
meet the demands of the commercial system of culture that sold the values, life styles and institutions
suiting the American way of life. Walter Benjamin, an affiliate of the Frankfurt School took a positive
stand to the spurting of mass media in the US, treating it as an organ of social progress. In his The
Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction (1969), Benjamin noted how the new mass media
supplanted older forms of culture where by the mass reproduction of photography, film, recordings,
and publications replaced the emphasis on the originality and aura of the work of art in an earlier era

Benjamin believed that freed from the mystification of high culture, media culture could cultivate
more critical individuals capable of judging and analyzing their cultures, just as sports fans could
dissect and evaluate athletic activities. Compounding this, Benjamin believed that by processing the
rush of images created by cinema, the subjectivities were able to ward off and comprehend the flux of
turbulence of experience in industrialized, urbanized societies. In his essay entitled The Artist as
Producer (1999 [1934]) Benjamin argued that progressive cultural creators should refunction the
apparatus of cultural production, turning theatre and film, for instance, into a forum of political
enlightenment of progressive social change. Benjamin recognised that media could have conservative
effects and films could create a new kind of ideological magic through the cult of celebrity and
techniques like the close up that fetishized certain star or images via the technology of cinema. Thus
he remains one of the first radical critics to look carefully at the form and technology of media culture
in appraising its complex nature and effects

President Hoover And Franklin D. Roosevelt
During the 1920s, in the U.S. economy, stock prices were rapidly rising. Many people saw this as an
opportunity to invest their money into the market, and multiply their cash. Despite warnings of a crash
in the market, people kept on using their money even taking out loans to invest into the rapidly
increasing market. Nevertheless, on October 29, 1929 the stock exchange crashed, and caused panic
throughout the nation. This began an economic downturn that placed pressure on the President of the
United States to fix the situation. Although both Herbert Hoover and Franklin D. Roosevelt were
President during one of the hardest economic times in the nation s history, there are many differences
in the approach each President took to attempt to fix The Great Depression, which caused different
changes in the economy. During Herbert Hoover s time in the White House, is when disaster struck.
Many people, at the time, believed that President Hoover was the ideal person to have in office due to
his background, and knowledge of economics. President Hoover s understanding of economics is what
initially allowed him to predict that a crash in the nation s market was inevitable; yet, did not take any
actions about it because he worried that when the market went down, he would receive the blame.
Nevertheless, when the market bust occurred, President Hoover did take many incentives to attempt to

either from forcefulness from groups or have deliberately chosen to enter the workforce of the sex

Compensation Management
1. Introduction:
In an expanding economy, human resources are scarce, and it s important to attract and retain the best
people. In a recessionary economy, human capital is a major expense that needs to be controlled
effectively. But no matter what the global economic situation may be, you need maximum insight and
flexibility to manage enterprise compensation. You also need the ability to adapt dynamically to ever

Step 1
Identify and define the factors useful in describing the fundamental elements of the general nature of
all jobs under the study.

Step 3
Identify the sufficient number of benchmark jobs to cover the entire range of difficulty or importance
of all factors.
Step 4
Using each factor, assign the value from 1 to 10 to each benchmark job. The job demanding the
greatest possible degree of a factor receives a 10 and the job demanding little or no amount of a factor

What Was The Truman Doctrine Essay
Right from the start of the Cold War, after the Second World War (1939 1945), the European continent
was split up once more and two ideologies were considered to dominate most countries. The Truman
doctrine, established in 1947 by the President of the United States of America forged the Western bloc
and put forward capitalism as a strong political ideology . Following this doctrine was the initiation of
the Marshall plan, a financial and military help, which goal was to reduce The Soviet Union s
influence on eastern countries. The leading force of the Eastern bloc, the Union of Soviet Socialist
Republics (U.S.S.R.) answered to the United States doctrine with the Zhdanov doctrine which divided
the world between the imperialists , the United States and the socialists , the Soviet Union.
Communism was the ideology in the U.S.S.R. and its allied countries. Defeated after the end of the
Second World War, Germany was split in four occupation zones as it was discussed at the Potsdam
Conference (July August 1945). The three zones belonging to the western countries (French zone,
British zone and American zone) were unified and thus opposed to the soviet zone. Berlin, a strategic

Reasons Why The Driving Age Should Not Be Raised To 18
Most teenagers look forward to the big 16 for numerous reasons. There are lots of factors for this
reason, including, more responsibilities, more independence, and one of the big ones, getting a drivers
licenses. The age limits for driving have been debated on for such a long time now. The age limit for
driving varies according to what country you re living in. In my opinion, the driving age in the United
States should not be raised to age 18 because I believe that age has nothing to do with responsibility,
getting to and from school and curricular activities can be hard without your own transportation, and
not all families have a person eligible to drive.
People believe that the age 16 is too young to have such a big responsibility. In reality

directly involved with other regions of the world. Our interests are at stake and there is not a better
time to assert such force. Congress is generously agreeing to aid the war and the world s support is on
our side. Under our foreign policy initiatives, we are able to manipulate reasons to include new
aspects that fall under threats of terrorism, thus threats to the national security of the United States.
The United State s consideration of deploying troops to the former Soviet Union republic of Georgia
aims to provide training and equipment to Georgian forces to patrol and combat the border shared
with Chechnya. There is evidence that fleeing Al Qaeda fighters, particularly in the Pinski Gorge area,
have joined Chechen rebels. Interestingly enough, Before September 11, Russia had faced regular and
harsh criticism from the West for alleged human rights violations and the use of excessive force in
Chechnya. After the attacks on the United States, the criticism was largely muted, ( Georgia ). The
events of September 11 have caused the State Department to now accuse the Russian government of
not doing enough to control Chechen rebels. Foreign policy has expanded to directly addressing the

Case Study Of Birla Sun Life Insurance
Insurance is the equitable transfer of the risk of a loss, from one entity to another in exchange for
money. It is a form of risk management primarily used to hedge against the risk of a contingent,
uncertain loss. An insurer, or insurance carrier, is selling the insurance; the insured, or policyholder, is
the person or entity buying the insurance policy. The amount of money to be charged for a certain
amount of insurance coverage is called the premium. Risk management, the practice of appraising and
controlling risk, has evolved as a discrete field of study and practice.
The transaction involves the insured assuming a guaranteed and known relatively small loss in the
form of payment to the insurer in exchange for the insurer s promise to compensate ... Show more

Strategic Strategy And Risk Assessment
The business dictionary has defined success as the achievement of an objective or pre determined
goal. For this study, being successful will mean strategic alliance partners achieving those objectives
that necessitated their partnership. Uddin Akhter (2011) argued that strategic alliance success requires
cooperative behaviour from all partners. They went further to state that alliance success depends on
several factors such as active involvement in problem s solution, being trustworthy; to create value
combining partners resources and capabilities and persuasion among the partners for cooperation and
coordination of activities in a cooperative behaviour. Thomas (2014) outlined some key success
factors for strategic alliances and are : (1) Strategic Rationale Derive cooperation areas systematically
from business strategy including business case evaluation and risk assessment Engage in partnership
only in case benefit generated and risks involved justify additional complexity compared to alternative
solutions (2) Select partner High strategic and cultural fit between the partners Complementary
capabilities, resources and/or reground footprint Matching product portfolios (3) Negotiate and
establish Have a common vision of partnership, agree on fundamental values and convictions and
have general rules and standards established Share main assumptions and realistic targets of all

The Classical Music And Jazz
Yusuke Sato
Professor Dana
ILAC Pathway 3
25 September 2015 Classical music and Jazz
What people come up with when they hear the words classical music is a big concert hall, while what
people come up with is a small bar or something when they hear jazz . It seems they are different as
they are named differently, but are they really different? Also, given that the mainstream in the music
industry is popular music, both classical music and jazz are not appreciated by many people, but how
have these two music survived up until today?
Firstly, it is necessary to look back into their histories in order to understand how they have developed.
Classical music dates back more than one thousand years ago, which is called Medieval era and was
succeeded by Renaissance era. And then when it entered Baroque era, where the father of music
Johann Sebastian Bach thrived, there were the forms of classical music that are similar to something
which is often heard today. However, in these old eras, classical music was a liturgical music. It was
played mostly in a church. Also, it was favored by royals or aristocrats. Even Bach was hired by some
aristocrats and composed great works for them. When it reached the eighteenth century, although
classical music was still ecclesiastical music, classical music became popularized due to concerts and
recitals. And then it entered Impressionist era, suggestion and atmosphere came to the foreground as
important factors. The word

Management Science Workshop 2: Case Study Recreational Properties
1. 1. Framing the Decision 2. Recreational Properties obtained a package of options to acquire three
parcels that would allow them to develop a ski resort. The company paid €500,000 for the package of
options in June 2001. The options gave the company the right, but not the obligation, to acquire the
three parcels at a (strike) price of €10 million in June 2002. 3. Furthermore, in order to develop the
three parcels into a ski resort, the company needed leases from the European Union Environment

securing the lease would allow the expected value to increase by 3.1725 million. This is therefore the
maximum value we re ready to pay based solely on the main expected value. Nevertheless, if the risk
appetite is lower, we could calculate a value that ensures none of the options to have negative return

percents on his estimate on the result of the lawsuit, not exercising the options becomes the best
choice. Regarding the reputation, the breakeven point occurs at 68% (see appendix 7). We have some
more margins in that case but the conclusions are the same. A two way analysis (see appendix 8)

This concept can be viewed as personal and individual to one s self, and is distinguished as an umbrella term to attributes such as; consciousness, heritage, name, appearance, and the soul. As Sterne s novel Tristram Shandy draws influence from John Locke s An Essay of Human Understanding, in which Locke discusses the origin of personal identity, the individual identity is evidently reflected within the text. The novel demonstrates Sterne s interpretation of the personal identity through the construction of each of his unique characterisations. Sterne can be seen to draw influence from the 18th Century philosopher, John Locke. Locke discusses the theory that individual identity is formed through consciousness and experience, and not upon the soul and body; this may show us wherein personal identity consists: not in the identity of substance, but, as I have said, in the identity of consciousness. (Locke). As Tristram believes the other misfortunate experiences within his childhood amount to his individual identity, this also suggests an origin of identity developed from his personal experiences. He believes that experiencing the many misfortunes such as his accidental naming and castration, disturbance as a homunculus and broken nose reshape his identity and that he is in a sense doomed to live a misfortunate life. In response to reading Tristram Shandy alongside the work of Locke, Heather Keenleyside states that such readings often understand Tristram Shandy as a novelization of Locke s much discussed distinction [...] On this view, Tristram Shandy follows Locke in arguing for the priority of personal identity over the body and its associates: the family and the species, birth and death. • 7. Dome Of Rock The Dome of the Rock is among the largest Islamic shrines that are located in Jerusalem. Built almost thirteen centuries ago, this shrine remains one of the most gorgeous and treasured architectural buildings in the world. It is adorned with a splendid gold dome and an elaborate inscription that represents the Islamic religion. This shrine is built on a sacred rock that was considered to be holy before Islam started. To the Jewish, this rock was the very spot where Abraham was meant to sacrifice Isaac, his son. Besides, the shrine is believed to stand at the spot of the Holy of Hollies of Herod s Temple and Solomon s Temple (Grabar 59). • 8. The Current Pressurized Oxygen Tension Based Indices Response In this thesis, I have attempted to further explore the nature of the current utilised oxygen tension based indices response, with a view to its use as a tool to assess the pulmonary oxygenation in critically ill patients. Furthermore, this thesis developed a new index to assess pulmonary oxygenation. This topic was explored with external pulmonary factors to quantify oxygenation defect through a maze of mathematics, different diseases, and pathophysiology. There was one or two ways that could lead us to the answer and many dead end routes. Ultimately, the research produced an equation that was more robust than the PaO2/FiO2 ratio in terms of less variation. The first chapter described two different types of oxygen indices and its use. The second chapter described the medical simulator in general and the Nottingham Physiology Simulator (NPS) in particular. In chapter three, we examined the variation of certain oxygen indices with changes in the following external physiological factors (FIO2, Hb, RQ, and VO2) without changing the pulmonary configuration status. This investigation was done with ARDS simulated patients using a validated NPS model. The study demonstrates that the external physiological factors induced a remarkable variation in comparing to oxygen indices, and the use of each index depends on the type of the external physiological factors. However, we conclude that clinicians should be aware of using the best index according to patient s status. Accordingly, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. An Understanding Of God And A New World Of Faith Faith, a word that has a different meaning to every individual that walks this Earth, cannot be so easily defined. Faith, when talking about it in the religious sense, makes it even that much harder to understand. Everyone believes in something, and each of those beliefs have an enormous effect on how they live their lives. Gerald O Collins, a Jesuit Priest, states that within the Christian faith, lies two components: Fides Quae and Fides Qua. Fides Quae is the faith which is believed, or the content of that faith. Fides Qua is the individuals own personal commitment to God. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This statement simplified would essentially mean that in order to have faith you must be able to trust in God, even though we 2 cannot physically be in his presence on Earth. To elaborate, a faithful follower of christ must first have knowledge of the religion, agree to the terms, and then trust in that faith. Faith requires an individual to not only trust in God himself, but to also firmly believe the scriptures and teachings from within the Bible as well. Both this knowledge and trust is very crucial to the understanding and involvement with the Catholic faith. So many people simply agree with the teachings of the Bible, but do not fully trust in its meaning. For example, every Catholic understands that Jesus was nailed to the cross and died for our salvation, but they don t believe that in the harder times in life, that Jesus will come through on this promise for us. Being humble and opening oneself up to this idea of a loving faith relationship with God is what truly defines the term above all else. A good example of this concept from scripture would be from (John 3:16) For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. The only way of understanding how 600,000 Spaniards were killed between 1936 and 1939 is to ask ourselves why the civil war broke out in Spain in 1936. There were a number of reasons which led to the civil war in Spain. The main and most significant being the increased political polarization between the left and right wing parties. • 21. Special Education And The Civil Rights Movement Special education is a relatively new concept in education. The question is why? Although, the Federal Government required all children to attend school since 1918, this did not apply to students with disabilities. Many state laws gave school districts the ability to deny access to individuals they deem uneducable. The term uneducable varied from state to state, school to school, and even individual to individual. If students were accepted into the school, they were placed in regular classrooms with their peers with no support or in classrooms that were not appropriate to meet their needs. This started to change with the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950s and 1960s. The lawsuit Brown vs the Board of Education sued to end segregation of public schools laid the ground work for Individuals with Disabilities Act. The next major impact in education was the enactment of Elementary and Secondary Act signed into effect by President Lyndon Johnson in 1965. The purpose of this law was to provide fair and equal access to education for all, established higher standards, and mandated funds for professional development, resources for support education programs, and parent involvement. • 28. Reflection Paper On Regular Council Meeting Regular City Council Meeting I have always prided myself as a person who knows virtually everything that happens around my community. It is common for humans to judge or misjudge what they do not know or understand. Too often we are quick to criticize and lash after what other people say or do simply because we do not understand it. This fact describes the character and attitude of many people especially when it comes to politics and how a country is run right from the top to the bottom. The average people is generally unconcerned with political affairs like how politicians spend their tax money. You only need to look at the dismally low voter turn out to confirm this fact. This should to change and for me, this change came on 26th October 2017, when I decided to attend The Tempe City Regular Council Meeting. I had never attended such a meeting before. Part of the reason is perhaps owing to the attitude of most people as I explained earlier but more particularly, I had not seen any local issue that moved me enough to demand the necessity to have my voice heard or to be curious enough to want to find out about the secrets of the operations of the local government. Generally, I knew that the decisions made and policies developed by the city government affected my life directly or indirectly. However, to sit and watch all the work and grind that goes to the formulation of these policies and decisions has made me realize that democracy is not self driving. The Chambers After completing my classes for the day, I went directly to Tempe City Hall City Council Chambers which is housed in the Harry E. Mitchell Government Center. As I got in two minutes before the official starting time, the room was almost fully occupied but I was lucky to secure a seat at a position where I could follow the proceedings comfortably. The chamber is divided into two seating areas one for the Council Members and the other for the members of the public. • 29. Plant Kinship In Plants Plants are boring. That has been the belief of mankind for generations. Animals are obviously highly complex creatures with complex organ systems, and even more intricate organs like the brain. The animal brain is able to sense surroundings, detect eminent danger, form relationships with other animals, and recognize families. However, even without a brain, plants are capable of all this and more. For example, Parasitic plants such as the Dionaea muscipula are able to sense and trap their prey, the Mimosa pudica has the ability to sense touch and wilt, and plants like the Cuscuta Pentagona can sense volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from tomato plants to form a parasitic relationship (Biedrzycki M et al. 2010). Furthermore, some positive ways that plants exhibit communication includes kinship. As children, humans are taught to share their toys and food with their siblings. Plants it seems, have the same concept to ensure optimal growth and survival, as they act selflessly towards their relatives, share resources, and exhibit less competition and more cooperation with their kin. Plants are able to recognize fellow kin through responses to VOCs from relatives, and perform acts of altruism to kin by resource partitioning amongst siblings through root allocation (Karban R et al. 2013). The current research on plant kinship and areas of future research will be discussed, as well the controversies surrounding this subject. Despite the debate on plant kinship, Volatile Organic ... The outsiders is about a 14 year old boy growing up in Tesla, Oklahoma also during the late 1960 s. However, in this story the kid doesn t talk about politics at all, instead he talks about his life struggles and real problems like the death of his parents, living a poor life where his two big brothers have to work jobs and not go to school to support them, and his brotherhood with the boys in their gang called the greasers. Over the past few months of being on my Instagram account and looking at the comments and pictures of tof people on Instagram, I noticed that people in this generation are more critical of other people than generations in years past. Two people in particular, who have been on the receiving end, are Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil two professional soccer players who play in London for Arsenal FC. Lately their team has not been playing very well or getting good results in their games; it s evident in the pictures and captions, or lack of captions, that they post on Instagram. You can tell that people who follow them are very upset by the negative and dismissive comments on their posts. This exemplifies that in today s society, people have become more judgemental of the pictures and comments others post on Instagram. One example of this is seen profoundly on one of the pictures that Alexis Sanchez posted after a loss to Liverpool FC, 4 0. The picture depicts Alexis squatting on the pitch after being scored on for the fourth time. I noticed that in the picture below, we see Alexis in frustration with the way that he and his teammates have played throughout the game (@alexis_officia1). Looking back through his account I made a connection that directly relates to an incident that happened last year with the club. During that time it was about how Alexis was reacting/playing on the field during games. He would mope around like he didn t care or didn t want to be there. Also, during that time the comments were the same as they are now. It is also evident that he is frustrated with the situation at hand because there was no caption to go along with the picture. On all his other posts he includes some sort of caption, but in this case he was clearly too distraught and upset to write one. It was definitely clear that the fans did not like the way he went about about the loss. The evidence in the comments suggest that they want Alexis to stop acting like a baby or get out of Arsenal because they don t want a player who won t throw a temper tantrum when they lost a game (Anonymous 2 and Anonymous 4). Walter Benjamin, an affiliate of the Frankfurt School took a positive stand to the spurting of mass media in the US, treating it as an organ of social progress. In his The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction (1969), Benjamin noted how the new mass media supplanted older forms of culture where by the mass reproduction of photography, film, recordings, and publications replaced the emphasis on the originality and aura of the work of art in an earlier era (Kellner ... Benjamin believed that freed from the mystification of high culture, media culture could cultivate more critical individuals capable of judging and analyzing their cultures, just as sports fans could dissect and evaluate athletic activities. Compounding this, Benjamin believed that by processing the rush of images created by cinema, the subjectivities were able to ward off and comprehend the flux of turbulence of experience in industrialized, urbanized societies. In his essay entitled The Artist as Producer (1999 [1934]) Benjamin argued that progressive cultural creators should refunction the apparatus of cultural production, turning theatre and film, for instance, into a forum of political enlightenment of progressive social change. Benjamin recognised that media could have conservative effects and films could create a new kind of ideological magic through the cult of celebrity and techniques like the close up that fetishized certain star or images via the technology of cinema. A one way sensitivity analysis has been done first based on a whatif table and then, thanks to decision tree tools (appendix 6). This first analysis shows that the breakeven point is at 48%, meaning that if Anders is off by a few percents on his estimate on the result of the lawsuit, not exercising the options becomes the best choice. Regarding the reputation, the breakeven point occurs at 68% (see appendix 7). We have some more margins in that case but the conclusions are the same. A two way analysis (see appendix 8) shows the safest areas. The (50% 75%) is close to grey area where a small offset in the probability might change the decision. 2. p. 3. q. Recommendation: * r. Based on here above comments, if it is not possible to assess more clearly the probability (by securing the lease or through a market ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
