Types of Cataract Surgery
Cataract surgery is among the most common procedures performed in older people and is one of the
oldest procedures known. It is done due to the lens becoming cloudy and leads to the vision being
affected. This happens when proteins in the lens clump together causing the cloudy area to become
larger, affecting vision more over time. The most common cause is age related, but it could also be
due to other reasons such as traumatic, diabetic, radiation, secondary and congenital.
The first type of cataract treatment done was known as couching. This technique could only be
performed on lenses that were completely opaque, rigid and heavy to the point where the zonules were
fragile. The eye would then be struck with a blunt object with enough force to cause the zonules to
break causing the lens to dislocate and lie in the vitreous cavity, restoring limited, completely
unfocussed vision. Centuries later, this technique was modified where a sharp instrument was inserted
into the eye to break the zonules.
In 1748, the first surgical cataract removal occurred in Paris. Topical anesthetic was instilled and an
incision was made that went halfway around the cornea and the entire opaque lens was removed. It
was important that the lens was ripened meaning completely hardened so that the lens would not break
into pieces when being removed. Thus this surgery was restricted to only the most advanced cataracts.
Fine sutures weren t available at that time so patients were immobilized with

Rural Trash and Recycling Throughout History Essay
Recycling and Trash in Rural Areas
Recycling and trash is not a problem that has newly been raised in society. Trash, recycling and its
removal has been in history for centuries. As long as humans in society consume, there will be the
remainder of something that humans see as trash. Society holds a different perspective on trash and
recycling that varies from society, culture, tradition and way of life. A matter of perspective of some
incidents review that one man s trash is another man s treasure and if one wastes not, they want not.
Rural trash pickup is limited in the state of Iowa for numerous reasons that will be discussed within
this project, as well as how rural individuals deal with no trash pickup. The heated argument of some

Burning waste in a burn barrel is legal in some circumstances, but open dumping and burning
accumulated piles is not. It is never permissible to place a burn pile or trash barrel within the county
right of way. Recycling is also more difficult because pick up is not available in all rural areas, Prior to
purchase of the property of 8 acres, the event of trash was placed in a perspective that it was possible
for a trash route. However, the county line of Clinton County is indeed where the trash pick up ends.
That line is less than ¼ mile away from our residence. The city of address is Lowden, Iowa. Their
landfill is full and has taken the option to send their waste to another landfill. There is no rural service
for Cedar County in our section of the county. The actions of waste management are solely the
responsibility of the property owner and there is a limited amount of space to store trash.
In the event of problem solving the trash, it has been a solution to store that which could not be burned
into trash bins each sorted to the type. Those items consist of tin cans, glass, batteries, light bulbs,
milk jugs, and margarine bowls. It is understandable that milk jugs and margarine bowls would indeed
burn, but the hardened plastic once it is melted still is a solid waste that must be dealt with in the end
in the ashes. Not only, but the toxics that are released into the air when those items burn is and has
been questioned.
A concept of our present society, that is

Comparing Traditional Chinese Medicine With South African...
Comparing Traditional Chinese Medicine with South African Zulu Illness and Healing Traditional
Medicine is a term used for all type of unscientific knowledge and belief used within various cultures.
To the eye most cultures are very different, but when treating disease or illness some cultures are quite
alike. Some may treat different ailments the same way from culture to culture, or they can use the
same type of treatment for something completely different based upon their beliefs. Let s see what
similarities and difference come up when comparing two different types of healing. Being compared
will be Traditional Chinese Medicine with South African Zulu Healing. In Traditional Chinese
Medicine (TCM) they had practitioners. It originated from The Yellow Emperor s Classic of Internal
Medicine or The Yellow Emperor s Inner Canon. With two separate works called the books Suwen, a
book of simple questions and Lingshu, a book on acupuncture and moxibustion. According to Steven
B. Kayne, The earliest Chinese medical treatise, Huangdi Neijing, is attributed to the highly esteemed
Yellow Emperor (Huangdi) who, according to legendary history, ascended to the throne of China
around 2698 BC. (p. 119) The practitioners for TCM used acupuncture or herbal medicine, they would

Experiment #4AA Separation and purification Scheme Amena Alkeswani, PHCC Dhanlal Murally,
PHCC September 27, 2012 Abstract: There are millions of different organic compounds. Most of them
are found in mixtures and in order to achieve a pure form they need to be separated, isolated, and
purified. However, there are endless numbers of possible mixtures, which make it impossible to have a
pre designed procedure for every mixture. So chemists often have to make their own procedures. The
purpose of this experiment was to prepare the student to the real world by them designing their own
procedure which will help them understand the techniques of separation and purification better. The

Betrayal In Shakespeare s Othello
Betrayal within the book Othello by Shakespeare is definitely the biggest stand out point in the novel.
To make it clear, there is an immediate flag thrown when desdemona married Othello without her
father s consent. Bradantio tells Othello She has deceived her father, and may thee, (I.iii.293). What he
is trying to say is that she has no issue turning against her own father, so she will have no issue doing
the same thing to her husband. Betrayal in Shakespeare s society partakes a huge role within Othello
by turning characters against each other and putting out a bigger interest to the novel.
Othello continuously gets followed by the lingering shadows of betrayal. For instance, The

The Simpsons as a Sitcom Essay
The Simpsons as a Sitcom
The Simpsons is an example of an American sitcom. A sitcom is situation comedy, which is when the
same setting and same characters appear in every episode. Examples of sitcoms are programs such as
The Crosby Show and more recent sitcoms such as Friends . Sitcoms surfaced in the 1950 s in
America showing the ideal family. Slowly sitcoms started to show the reality of life and dealt with
social issues such as divorce and unemployment. Sitcoms have become very popular because people
could relate to the program and sitcoms show problems, which happen in every day life in a light

In the opening credits authority figures such as the police are made fun out and are shown as lazy and

Narrative structure is used very often in The Simpsons. Narrative structure is the way in which a story
is organised. Narrative usually consists of five stages. These are orientation, complication, resolution,
evaluation and re orientation. This system is used in The Simpsons to create humour and also let the
audience know what to expect. A good example of this structure is shown in one Simpson s episode
called Roasting on an open fire. It starts of or orientates when the family are at a school production for

Then comes the complication when Bart gets a tattoo and they have to use all their Christmas money

Their Eyes Were Watching God And The Road
Unknown Forces and Their Impact The books, Their Eyes Were Watching God and The Road, seem to
be completely different from each other for various reasons. One takes place in the south during the
early 1900 s while the other takes place in the future after an apocalyptic event. However, both books
share a similar idea. In both books the main characters have spiritual connections with an unknown
force that is the main cause of both their misfortune and their happiness. Overall, both authors from
Their Eyes Were Watching God and The Road believe that there is a higher being that has control over
both the good and bad aspects of life. Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston follows
a young African American woman named Janie as she tells her friend Pheoby about her past
experiences. It can be assumed that nature as well higher being or unknown force drives Janie s
morals and shapes her experiences. The first instance where Janie connects with nature in a significant
way was an experience she had when she was sixteen. She was lying under the pear tree in her
backyard when she noticed the bees around the tree. She saw a dust bearing bee sink into the sanctum
of a bloom; the thousand sister calyxes arch to meet the love embrace and the ecstatic shiver of the
tree from root to tiniest branch creaming in every blossom and frothing with delight. So this was a
marriage! She had been summoned to behold a revelation (Hurston 10). Something out of Janie s
control brought

Comparing and Contrasting the Views of Christianity,...
When it comes to theism and the wold iew, one of the main questions that is asked by all is, if there is
a God or a devine spirit and if so what he or she like? Out of the three main religions of the world
Christianity, Islam, and Judaism all have different views on who God really is or isn t. So when
comparing each of the worlds three main religions, it is best to start with looking at how each of these
religions are similar before we focus on how different that they are.
What each of the 3 main religions all have in common 1st of all are that all 3 of these religions hold to
the idea that the God is male in nature, that God should be honored and respected as God above all

Muslims for the most part believe that Islam brings together all religions in that all prophets are
honored as messengers from the one true God, Allah. Islam in general considers itself to be a universal
religion at its purest form. Allah is even seen as the all knowing creator of all things wordly and
devine. Allahs creation is governed by devine set laws and that peace can only be found through the
knowledge of and obeyence of these laws. Muslims believe that there needs to be complete surrender
to Allah to prove their true belief. In Islam, all humans will be resurrected for a final judgement of
their deeds and heaven awaits the faithful and hell awaits the infidel which are the unfaithful.
In Judaism and keeping Gods law. In the terms of differences let s focus on the God of Judaism 1st. In

them when you sit in your home and when you walk by the way and when you lay down and when
you rise. You shall bind them as a sign in your hand and they shall be as frontals on your forehead.

Power Dynamic Between Joan And Roger s Episode Babylon
In the episode Babylon from the television show Mad Men, the power dynamic between Joan and
Roger is unusual in that while Roger, a stereotypical white entitled male in the sixties, owns the ad
agency and objectifies Joan, his desire for her, and her ability to manipulate his desire, allows her to
take the power in the relationship and remain independent.
America has had a historically dominant patriarchal system with a particular type of man in charge:
the white, heterosexual, male, who until the 60s 70s had yet to be challenged in his birthright claim to
authority and status. These men believed they were superior to anyone who didn t have the same
characteristics as they did. Because of these societal norms, men believed that they were above their

reasons, but as a woman she has the right to do so. With this in mind, the episode Babylon shows how
a woman can use, societal norms to manipulate a man into giving her what every woman in the 60s
wants but could never have, power and freedom. Roger s dialogue often has him comparing Joan to
objects, outlining his fantasies in which he has complete control of her. However, she is presented as
much more in control of how she is objectified. The affair is first introduced with a scene in a hotel
room, although it s a hotel room, we think it s a bedroom, as they discuss she is seen both looking

The Book Shane, By Jack Gow
Honorable and Courageous Manhood
The theme in the book Shane, by Jack Schaefer, portrays that true manhood consists not of bravado or
status, but of character, honor, and loyalty. The main character is a man named Shane, who rides into a
small valley mysteriously at the beginning of the book and takes a position as the aid of a farmer, Joe
Starett. When Shane arrives, Joe and the other farmers of the valley are struggling, while the rancher
Fletcher is the highest valley authority. The townspeople and Bob, Joe s son, struggle to discover what
make a man honorable and manly. They hold Fletcher and his cowboys as authorities, manly men in a
culture that admires this, because of the glamour of their profession. Fletcher s confidence and
bravado, as well as his profession and position, appear to the townspeople to be the epitome of
manhood. Bob falls into this easy way of thinking as well; he says that before Shane came into his life
his highest aspiration was to become like his father, but his ambition was to first be a cowboy. Bob
visualizes himself riding through the country: rough, strong, free, and well liked. After Shane arrives,
Bob starts thinking about true manhood, comparing his father, Shane, Fletcher, and the cowboys. He
realizes that manhood is not being like Fletcher, with shows of bravado designed to insult others, but
instead is standing up for your family and principles when necessary. Bob also learns that manhood
has to do a great deal with character, finding

voltage, the force of the muscle contraction remained the same. 2. What was the smallest voltage
required to produce a contraction (the threshold voltage)? What proportion of the fibers in the muscle

strength? Is this effect linear? The further the muscle is stretched the bigger the force it exerts. This is
a linear effect. 8. What stretch resulted in the highest contraction force? What happens to the muscle at
the highest stretch levels? The 10mm stretch. It contracts more vigorously. 9. Describe how the
isolated muscle behaved as the stimulus interval was decreased progressively. As the intervals were
reduced the twitches got closer together. Each curve, which represents a response to the stimuli, got
closer until they finally became one. This represents summation which is when the muscle is unable to

Which interval caused the greatest contraction? The shorter the intervals the greater the force. The

Essay on A Century of Physics
A Century of Physics
By the end of the nineteenth century after more than two thousand years of intellectual struggle that
began with the Greek philosophers, physical scientists had reason to believe that they were beginning
to understand the universe. Their theories of matter and energy, of electricity and magnetism, of heat
and sound and light were confirmed in laboratories throughout the world with increasing precision.
Experimentation was the method and mathematics the language of a powerful coherent body of
knowledge called classical physics. For a few years before and after the turn of the century, the world
was taking a breather from war and rebellion. The monumental achievements of science, technology,

The chance discovery of radioactivity finally signaled the beginning of a new era in physics. As the
element polonium, identified by Polish born Marie Curie in 1898, emits radiation it changes
spontaneously into lead. This discovery shattered the belief inherited from the Greeks that the
elements are immutable and their atoms indestructible.
What causes atoms to decay?
What are they made of?
What forces are at work inside them?
Such questions were new to physics, and were to remain at its cutting edge throughout the twentieth
century. The answers would affect our lives in ways no one could imagine in the year of 1900.
The twentieth century began with a flurry of innovations such as the airplane, the mass produced
automobile, and transatlantic radio communication. They transformed the world, but the changes
sweeping over physics at the same time were far more radical. Those brought about not just different
lifestyles, but new ways of thinking. Modern physics grew out of classical physics and rest of three
pillars: the quantum theory, which describes atoms and their nuclei, Special Relativity, which deals
with the relationship between space and time and General Relativity, which explains gravity. The latter
two were the sole creations of Albert Einstein and even the former received a crucial

Analysis Of Dale Carnegie s On Skills As A Business Owner
TO: Mr. Jes Methipara, Aspiring business owner

RE: Techniques to Consider
Your desire to start your own business is admirable. Dale Carnegie s How to Win Friends and
Influence People would assist you in furthering your business. Please consider the following
techniques when cultivating your skills as a business owner.
What s in it for them?
Many times, people only care about how they will be benefitting in any situation. Because of this,
business owners always need to think about what their employees or consumers will be getting out of
any transaction. This is the most effective way to win them over. Business owners need to clearly
illustrate the benefits for those who have their company in consideration. According to Dale Carnegie,
he was once approached by the company that owns the grand ballroom that he lectures in. The
company said that they were going to be charging Carnegie at a higher price. Rather than speaking
from his own experience, Carnegie explained to the company how charging him more would actually
be detrimental to their company. By only speaking calmly about the company and not himself, he was
able to effectively convince the company not to overcharge him.
In my personal life, if I ever want to convince someone to do what I desire, I always lay out how it
would benefit them. When I want my friends to accompany me to places that they have no desire to go
to, I try to illustrate the

D. Single Sign On (SSO)
Most users have multiple accounts in various Service Providers with different usernames and
passwords which in turn leads to lost productivity and apply more overhead on administrators. So,
there is a need to use the SSO technique in which an authorized user uses only a single action of
authentication to access all related systems or applications of same trust domain [34]. In cloud based
SSO system the central authentication server hides a multiplicity of user s account information into a
single account to be sent to the needed server of the system or application whenever the user intends
to use it [35]. The concept of SSO can be deployed within an Intranet, Extranet or Internet using
Token or PKI based SSO protocols for single credentials or set of other protocols for multiple
credentials as declared in the following Figure:
Binu et al. [34] Proposed a Cloud authentication model with Single Sign on (SSO) functionality that
uses a password and mobile token stored within a mobile phone as the authentication factors. This
model uses a Secure Access Markup Language SAML protocol running on the authentication server to
support access across multiple domains.
2 Factor Authentication (2FA) is more suitable with principles of cloud authentication. A user sends
his username and password as the first factor to the cloud server for authentication. The cloud server

The Quest For Effective Leadership
Introduction
In the quest for effective leadership; having a shared vision and practicing strong communication
skills among staff, administrators and faculty are critical components to a successful organization.
Effective leadership begins with a vision, action and buy in from all levels of the college. Leaders
have struggled with what their vision of success is and can be for all involved. A convincing vision has
the power to inspire, clarify and focus on the work of an entire organization. Often in a rush to get
things done, we expect our colleagues to support our efforts without giving them a good reason why.
Effective leadership also means communicating regularly and being a good listener who shares
information with their organization and encourages open dialogue. (Use a citation here)
Context and culture
The culture in an organization depends greatly on how successful a leader is capable of becoming an
active person who sees the future in others. Leadership skills should match the values of the culture
which in return should drive the initiatives of the college. For employees to function and succeed, it is
essential they understand and believe in the culture. (Use a citation here) Leaders need to create a
culture that is beneficial to an organization, by hiring potential employees that have the desired
attitudes, behaviors, ethics and shared values of the institution. This process begins at the top of the
organization. Leader/institutional values

There are many things that people can learn from this sport. Patience is one of those essentials. One
thing runners will quickly realize is that times do not get faster overnight. People have to put in a lot
of work and effort to drop seconds on of their times. It strengthens one s endurance levels since they
are not handed being a good athlete. Runners have to train hard and log many miles into their shoes to
get faster. Good runners also create a great work ethic. Even when they are in immense pain, they
keep going. When someone is a runner, he or she has to zone out and forget the pain. This is good
because runners are known to be hard workers at their occupations. Persistence and work ethic go
together. One has to be persistent to work hard. Out of all the life skills running teaches, the strongest
one is expanding runner s mental capabilities. Runners have to be motivated. If a person does not have
the willpower and strength to say that he or she can do it, they will not go very far. Having a positive
mindset goes a long way. One could be the slowest runner, but when they believe they can run faster,
they will achieve their goal. Giving up is not an option. This applies to not just running but to other
things in life also. Runners learn many life lessons; these being just a few of

Input-Output Pairing and Disturbance Rejection of a...
Distillation is the main separation method in chemical process industries. This process involves low
thermodynamic efficiency and high energy demand due to the heat that is added in the bottom reboiler
and thrown away in the top condenser. For this reason, to improve energy efficient distillation
systems, heat integration concept was first proposed by Brugma [1], Wright [2], Petlyuk et al.[3] and
Freshwater [4,5] almost 70 years ago. Nakaiwa et al. [6] has recently discussed these systems in an
excellent review. In another review, Amiya [7] introduced many other heat integration schemes which
have been developed so far in depth.
Heat pump systems can be used to upgrade heat from a lower quality energy source in the condenser
to a higher quality energy source in the reboiler. Heat pump assisted distillation column was first
introduced in the mid 1970s [8]. Previously, a number of studies on heat pump assisted distillation
have been reported in the literature. Omideyi et al. [9] developed a quick selection method for vapor
compression (VC) heat pump assisted distillation columns. Fonyo and Mizsey [10] simplified the
method and included vapor recompression as well as absorption heat pump scheme. Kiss et al. [11]
developed selection scheme of energy efficient technologies for binary distillation. Van de bor et al.
[12] presented a quick performance map and made selection simpler and more suitable.
The most popular heat pump systems are the mechanical ones. In these heat pumps,

Religious Influence On Kristallnacht
Kristallnacht was one of the most horrible nights for the Jewish people . Kristallnacht is now known
as the Night of Broken Glass because of all the broken glass in the Jewish shops and homes. Many
different aspects of the Jewish people were affected on Kristallnacht ; religiously, physically and
financially. One aspect of Jewish lives were affected on Kristallnacht through their religion. On
Kristallnacht Jewish synagogues were burned with torches as shown in the picture Synagogue Burning
. Synagogues are the Jewish churches where they practice their religion. The Heydrich s Instructions,
November 1938 are the instructions that tell officers and many other government officials what to do
on the night of Kristallnacht. One of the instructions in this letter is that the police had to seize all

Graduation Speech On My Exchange Year
Good evening to everyone and thanks President Rob for giving me the opportunity to have this last
presentation about my exchange year in Australia. One year has gone, and I can admit that many
things happened but I couldn t be happier about it. Today is my 340th day here in Australia: I came in
a place without knowing anyone, without my family or my friends and I had the chance to live another
life that I built with my hands. I wasn t alone though: I had my host families that always supported
me; the Elliot family as the first one, the Shirlaw s as the second, the Mann s as the third and the
Gormely s as the fourth and last one. They have been there for me when I needed it, even if in

Being an exchange student means that you discover new ways of living, and because you are hosted
by different families, that way changes every time: it could be a difference in what you eat, in what
you do and in what you gain knowledge of; it could be the language that they use in the house, or in
how many kids they have. Being an exchange student means also that you get to know many others

The Restoration Under Charles II Essay
The Restoration Under Charles II Generally, the English people had a great celebration when Charles
II returned to the throne in May of 1660.1 Many believed that restoring the monarchy was the only
way to secure constitutional rights. In fact, there was an expectation that bringing back the king would
return life to the way it was before 1642 and the rule of Cromwell. Charles II was responsible for
improving the government for the people. However, despite some achievements, the king was not very
successful in creating a stronger and more effective monarchy. He was dependent on his advisors and
other parts of the government from the very beginning of his reign. There were constant conflicts

This council consisted of English men who held public office or owned extensive amounts of land.
Smaller committees within the council made all the major decisions.3 The king looked to the Privy
Council for help in solving the country s problems. Clarendon s main objective for the council was to
lessen the power of Parliament. Since the king relied a large deal on the council for making decisions,
Parliament did not meet as often.4 Clarendon also knew that the militia was a major part of
government, but he wanted to keep the army small. He knew that a large army would make the people
nervous about an absolutist monarchy. A small militia kept the country safe from a possible foreign
attack.5 There was one main issue that Clarendon and Charles disagreed on very strongly: religious
tolerance. Clarendon believed in using coercive acts to eliminate dissenters. However, Charles did not
want to persecute people with different religious beliefs if they were not causing problems for
England. In April of 1660, he put these ideas into effect with the Breda Declaration. This declaration
was the first of many signs that Charles was impartial to Catholics. Parliament, however, sided with
Clarendon on this conflict. In 1661, Parliament passed the Act of Uniformity. The act ended all
tolerance for Presbyterianism and forced all of its followers to agree to everything in the Anglicans
Book of Common Prayer. Parliament also refused to accept the king s

The Effects Of Prosopagnosia
Imagine a world wherein you meet someone again and again. Imagine a world wherein faces and
objects are just blurred images that all look alike. Imagine having to learn other ways in order to
remember them. Prosopagnosia does that to people. Prosopagnosia is a neurocognitive disorder
characterized by severely impaired face recognition (Dalyrmple, Garrido Duchaine, 2014). With this
kind of disease, one can t recognize their own family and close friends who have been with you for a
long time. When looking at old pictures, one can t even recognize themselves. Prosopagnosia is a
condition to be dealt with and understood for one to be able to live with it. Developmental
Prosopagnosia is when an individual can t acquire the certain processes for facial recognition. More
recent neurocognitive models of face processing also distinguish between face recognition processes
involved in the visual analysis of faces, and those involved in facial familiarity (Dalyrmple, Garrido

In early 1974, the Secretary General of the United Nations, U Thant, invited the Palestinian Liberation
Organization to attend the General Assembly gathering on November 13, 1974, and in doing so gave
legitimacy to the Palestinian Liberation Organization as a governing body. In Yasser Arafat s speech to
the General Assembly, he thanked the United Nations for recognizing his organization and its
legitimacy. When Arafat addressed the General Assembly, he made the argument that the actions taken
by his government were not acts of terrorism, but these were acts of revolution and their purpose was

Arafat points out that this was the beginning of the creation of the illegal state of Israel. When the
United Nations General Assembly partitioned off the Palestinian land in 1948, the Palestinian people
rejected their planed creation of a Jewish State within their homeland. Even though the Palestinians
rejected their decision, the State of Israel was created and recognized as a sovereign nation by the
United Nations. Shortly after its creation, Israel began expelling Palestinians and Muslims from their
land and from their homes. The Palestinians that were able to remain within the borders of Israel were
treated as third class citizens (second class citizens were the Asians and Jews) and had to notify the
Israeli Military of all their movements. 1 This is when the people of Palestine began their efforts to
retake their land that rightfully belonged to them.
Arafat believed the actions taken by the Palestinian Liberation Organization against the Israeli
Government and agents of the government were not terrorist actions, but were revolutionary actions.
The injustice placed upon the Palestinian people by the Israeli Government justified the Palestinian s
the right to struggle. Yasser Arafat made it very clear that his cause/struggle is not with the Jewish
people but with the unlawful creation of the Jewish State. Arafat also claimed that his government

Describe the observed relationship between salt concentration and the rate of bacterial growth.
MGT is defined as the time taken for the absorbance value to get doubled during a logarithmic growth
period. MGT calculated in the current observation is listed above. MGT attain lowered for the given
species.
What is the apparent optimum salt concentration for V. natriegens you observe from your data?
2 percent is observed as the apparent optimum salt concentration for V. natriegens in the observed
data.
Discussion
What do you observe about the effect of salt concentration on the rate of growth of V. natriegens?
The bacterial growth can be characterized into four distinct stages namely, lag phase, exponential
phase or log phase, stationary phase, decline or death phase. In the lag phase, contextual organism
acclimatized with the surroundings (Mohandas et al. 2017). In this phase, the cell grows but do not
replicate. Thus, no growth in cell mass is observed here. However, in the exponential phase, the
organism grows fast and divide rapidly. The observation denotes that with the increase in the salinity

The Battle of hamburger Hill
The Battle at Dong Ap Bia occurred during Operation Apache Snow during The Vietnam War, which
had the aim of clearing the People s Army of Vietnam (PAVN) and Viet Cong (VC) from the A shau
Valley in South Vietnam. This valley was situated near the border with Laos, and it had become a
haven for communist forces and major infiltration route into the south. This operation was initiated on
10 May 10 1969 with the specific purpose of destroying the PAVN and VC forces believed to be
grouped in the A shau Valley, blocking enemy routes of egress in Laos, interdicting enemy lines of
communication and locating and destroying known enemy caches. This valley was heavily forested,

Morals In Toy Story 2
I remember growing up, watching Pixar movies with my family. Their bright colors and playful
characters were perfect for entertaining us children and even the adults. I always wanted to watch Toy
Story 2 directed by John Lasseter because I was afraid of the first film. What really got me was the
scene where they met all of Sid s creepy creations, especially the baby head. Though when I was older
and no longer afraid, I realized how much meaning there really was in Toy Story . It even holds great
morals that can reflect on some of the rules from Choosing Civility written by P. M. Forni. Woody at
first was very unsure of Buzz and did not like him because he was now the cool one and Buzz had a
few of his own problems that Woody tried to help him with including thinking he was real and not a
toy but through their adventures they learned that they needed to work together to get back to their
favorite kid, Andy.
To start with, Pixar has an amazing way of hiding morals in its movies, the spectacular thing about
that is that kids will be learning without even realizing it. Toy Story has a main Character named
Woody and his role is to take care of the rest of the toys in the room, kind of as the mayor. This
seemed to work well but when a new toy comes to town he feels like his dominance is threatened and
basically goes primal trying to get rid of him by running him over with the RC car. This shows how
unhealthy jealousy really is when everyone else didn t care that he was

Is High Fidelity Flight Simulation Necessary for Airline...
IS HIGH FIDELITY FLIGHT SIMULATION NECESSARY FOR AIRLINE PILOT TRAINING?
Abstract
One of the difficulties when objectivity looking into defining the levels of fidelity required in training
simulations is that simulators are frequently seen as replacements for training that previously would
have been conducted on the real equipment. The perception therefore is that the simulation should be
as close as possible to the real deal in order to successfully replace it. However, the genuine advantage
of using simulation in training is that where the actual equipment is designed for real operations, a
training simulator can be designed to meet specific training needs without unnecessarily extending the
fidelity of the simulation. A vital ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This has lead to an overemphasis on technological advancement to enhance simulation based training
(Francis Heybroek, 1992). In turn, this focus creates a lack of emphasis on the role of recreating
authentic operational scenarios which is the baseline for training airline pilots.
All this leads into another important aspect of simulation fidelity; Instructional Systems Design (ISD).
ISD is definitively linked to training effectiveness and is relative to the way in which simulator based
training is designed for the target audience. Recently there has been considerable research which
suggests that there is not a straightforward relationship between the increased realism of high fidelity
simulation and any significant enhancement in training effectiveness (National Center for Simulation,
2007). In fact, the research actually shows that increases in both efficiency and transfer of training do
occur through the careful process of ISD, and in particular the design of simulation based scenarios
that are responsive to the real operational needs of the target learner. These research results provide
the first facet that high fidelity simulation is not necessarily required for airline pilot training.
Operational Fidelity
Within the commercial aviation setting, considerable criticism has been directed at the current forms
of simulator based training for their singular focus on the

The answer is simple: development of the ministry is based on meeting new people who might not
have heard the Gospel just like I meet several new souls almost every day, while grocery shopping.
Teaching skills that I acquire will enable me to minister the Gospel successfully. My interdisciplinary
degree is, therefore, important in developing my ministry. Leaders and leadership entail many

Deborah was a leader and a judge who was trusted. The Bible notes that Deborah carried out her

At the same time, Deborah also practiced judicial duties and militaristic leadership upon the
individuals she was in charge. Deborah became the most important person amongst the Israelites. She

Shakespeare s King Lear And The Winter s Tale
A prevailing theme in Shakespeare s King Lear and The Winter s Tale is the possibility of
reconciliation. Both rulers, Lear and Leontes, allow their political authority to often clash with their
internal flaws, but Shakespeare presents these characters in two different settings, each of which
equally produce two aspects of redemption that are worthy of discourse. They resolve their mistakes,
and with other characters and forcers within each play that aid in their restoration, Lear and Leontes
come to find emotional redemption. However, unlike the ending of The Winter s Tale, where
supernatural forces intervene and Leontes former life is completely recovered, King Lear is not as
fortunate. While Lear achieves emotional redemption and realizes the love and affection of his
daughter and closest friends, his life is not restored to its former lever of grandeur. This begs the
question of whether complete redemption, encapsulating both the emotional and physical elements,
truly exists in a natural world.
King Lear s character is powerful because it exemplifies the raw, emotional and physical journey of
the human condition. He embodies all the trademarks of a man with high standing. He seemingly has
within his control a kingdom that he wields with authority, great wealth, and he is held in high esteem
by his followers. In the early lines of the play, Lear takes possession of his supremacy in dividing the
entirety of his kingdom to his daughters, solely based on which of his

The report has presented overwhelming statistical evidence to support this conclusion. BPD stops over
500 pedestrians per every 1,000 African Americans and only under 200 pedestrians for every 1,000
Caucasian Residents. A solution to this issue would be to have a diverse/variety of officers employed
under the Baltimore Police Department. Diversity should not merely be based on race but on the
background as well. BPD should only assign officers to work in a jurisdiction where they are familiar
with the residents and the demographics of the area. For example, if an area is 90% African American
and is known for high drug trafficking, an officer from a county with majority white residents and
only a discriminatory point of view on African Americans should not be assigned to work in this area.
It is important that officers familiarize themselves with the area they are policing because it will give
them a certain level of understanding and aid in determining how they should approach situations.
Also, officers should be able to honestly express when they are an assigned to an environment where
they do not feel comfortable. Keeping the lines of communication open between police officers and
administration is very important. Officers should be able to perform their duties in a comfortable

their belongings and their families behind for a chance to find gold. Many people who came to
California did not find gold and lost most of their money. Before this California was relatively small
in population. Many towns in California that were small turned into boomtowns. Boomtowns were
cities which population grew exponentially. San Francisco had a population of 200 residents and then
grew to over 30,000 people during the gold rush. With all the people coming in, violence, gangs,
prostitution, and land destruction arose.

Many people lied to make money off of others. Jacob Todd was a man from end who lost a bet and
had to sell bibles in Chile. He received money from the church because they thought he was
missionary. He moved to California after he was found to be a fraud. He made himself a journalist. As
a journalist he makes money by making up stories about Joaquin. He writes that he is a bad person. He
says he is a bandit. With the spur of the gold rush, many different ethnic groups came to one area. At
first there was little racism. Late on, people began to act against each other. They committed hate
crimes against the other races. Each ethnic group made their own communities to protect themselves
and stay together. Although racism played a big part in the gold rush, some people still managed to
stay together and look past ethnic backgrounds. A good example of this is Elzia and Tao. Eliza has a
Chilean background while Tao has an Asian background. They lived together through the hard times
of the gold rush. They had a relationship, which grew over their journey looking for Joaquin. Although
times were hard and money was scarce, they stayed

Discussion of Black Elk Speaks Essay
Discussion of Black Elk Speaks Black Elk was a holy man of the Oglala band of the Lakota Sioux
nation. Black Elk interpreted his life as a holy man as the story of a mighty vision (BES, p. 2). As a
child, Black Elk was blessed with a great vision from the other world. In receiving his great vision,
Black Elk received a great power, a power to make over (BES, p. 201), a power to make things better
for sick and suffering individuals and nations. He did not know it at the time, but this vision would be
the blueprint of his life. It would guide him through times when he doubted his importance to his
people. He had other visions, but they all tied into the great vision he experienced as a child. Black
Elk made incredible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These Grandfathers presented Black Elk with gifts to help him on his journey. A wooden cup, a bow
and arrows, a white wing of cleansing, an herb to heal, a sacred pipe a flowering stick and the power
to make live and to destroy were the tools that were given to him. Then, the Grandfathers showed
Black Elk what was to become of his people. He was shown a holy tree which once had been
flowering and was now gone. The people he was supposed to lead were thin and starving, and Black
Elk cried as he saw the fate of his people. Once he was placed back in the world of his family he was
enlightened yet confused. He was unable to do anything with the powers he was given until he was
older. As he came to be a man, he was blessed with a gift of helping people. He worked curing
illnesses until he felt it was time that his life should take another turn. In 1883, the last of the bison
herds were killed. Black Elk could not understand why the Wasichus would kill animals without using
everything it had to offer. That year Black Elk said, All our people now were settling down in square
gray houses, scattered here and there across this hungry land, and around them the Wasichus had
drawn a line to keep them in. The nation s hoop was broken, and there was no center any longer for
the flowering tree. The people were in despair. (BES, p. 213 214) In 1886, as part of a show, Black Elk
traveled to London to study the Wasichus and their way of life. By studying

Research Paper On Snowy Plover
The western snowy plover (Charadrius alexandrinus nivosus) has a pacific coast population that
breeds primarily on coastal beaches from southern Washington to southern Baja California, Mexico.
The major coastal habitats include sand spits, dune backed beaches, beaches at creek and river
mouths, and salt pans at lagoons and estuaries. Other nesting locations include bluff backed beaches,
dredged material disposal sites, salt pond levees, dry salt ponds, and river bars (U.S. Fish and Wildlife
Service, 2001). Plovers often return to the same breeding sites yearly. Nesting locations occur in flat,
open areas that have sparse vegetation with sandy or saline substrates. Western snowy plovers have
been listed as threatened on the federal endangered species list since 1993, and are listed as a species
of special concern by the state of California (California Department of Parks and Recreation, 2015). ...

Financial Aspect Of Climate Risk Management
Financial Aspect of Climate Risk Management
Climate change is a lethal and destructive force. In the recent past major climatic events like floods,
tsunamis etc. have led to substantial destruction of wealth. Such events have highlighted the need of
mechanisms for risk sharing of the losses and restoring the lost human and infrastructural capital. The
climate change agreement declared on December 12, 2015 was one of the highlights of the year. It
showcased the resolve of various nations in fighting climate change. It was a welcome change from
Copenhagen.
Climate Change and its Effects
The major target for financial sector is to provide jobs, economic welfare to the thriving population,
without damaging environmental balance. It is the role of the financial sector to help in managing
climate risk and help society recuperate from it. Any climate risk directly or indirectly affects the
financial sector in a huge manner. Whenever a climatic catastrophe occurs, the number of insurance
claims rise exponentially. Global Insurance claims have risen from 5.1 billion US dollars annually in
the 1970 s to 27 billion US dollars per year in 2014.

Deaf Club Research Paper
In the 1960 s, Deaf Clubs began to drop drastically in number. As many Deaf people started working
in jobs such as teaching, Deaf people were not so alone in the workplace. The invention of the
Telephone in the 1970 s and the more often use of Closed Captioning put the Deaf Clubs in their
grave. Deaf people didn t need the Clubs for entertainment, nor to plan business or plan for services.
However deaf culture is still a closely guarded memory thing to many. The American Deaf community
views and values ASL as the central hub of a culturally Deaf identity. Through American Sign
Language, members are given a unique way for expression of their personality, a special and visual

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Werbung bedeutet in
diesem Zusammenhang der Verkauf mit unpersönlichen Mitteln. Letztendlich gehört alles, was den
Konsumenten zum Kaufentschluss bewegen kann, dazu.

Soil Erosion In Iowa
Iowa became a state in 1846 and by 1860 almost the entire state was settled and farmed by Euro
Americans. The settling led to the devastation of prairie in Iowa. The beautiful lush grasses, forbes,
and sedges were being cultivated and planted with crops along with severe overgrazing and much
more. Prairie is a habitat type that gets a lot of focus in Iowa today. It gets so much focus because it is
such a huge part of Iowa s ecological history. Before the advent of white man, prairie covered
approximately 84 percent of the area of Iowa . (Aikman, 1959) Tallgrass prairie is one of the most
endangered ecosystems in North America (Sampson and Knoppf, 1996), with less less than one
percent of its original extent remaining. (Rowe, Fargione, Holland, ... Show more content on

The Conservation Reserve Program or CRP is a great way to conserve soil not just in Iowa, but all
around the nation. Referring to farmers around the nation taking land out of production and putting it
into CRP: As a result of these sweeping changes in the landscape, soil erosion in the United States has
decreased by about 648 million tons a year, dwindling bird populations have more safe areas for their
nests, and less carbon dioxide enters the atmosphere, government and university studies show (Adler,
1996) Although, the amount of CRP and Prairie is nothing compared to what it used to be, we have
started to make a dent into soil erosion and ecological processes that we have destroyed. In my
opinion, a certain amount of acres in CRP in Iowa should be mandatory for a certain percent of the
cropland that you farm. For an easy example, if you have 100 acres of cropland that you own, 10% of
that cropland should be mandatory CRP or Prairie, especially along waterways and floodplains. In
today s farming industry, small time farmers have around 800 acres of cropland. In all actuality, all
farmers have some land that has some environmental virtue that farming threatens. This land may sit
in a state conservation preserve, for example, or serve as a buffer between agricultural property and a
river or lake. (Adler, 1996) Those farmers with that have 800 acres or more in crop

  • 2. Types of Cataract Surgery Cataract surgery is among the most common procedures performed in older people and is one of the oldest procedures known. It is done due to the lens becoming cloudy and leads to the vision being affected. This happens when proteins in the lens clump together causing the cloudy area to become larger, affecting vision more over time. The most common cause is age related, but it could also be due to other reasons such as traumatic, diabetic, radiation, secondary and congenital. The first type of cataract treatment done was known as couching. This technique could only be performed on lenses that were completely opaque, rigid and heavy to the point where the zonules were fragile. The eye would then be struck with a blunt object with enough force to cause the zonules to break causing the lens to dislocate and lie in the vitreous cavity, restoring limited, completely unfocussed vision. Centuries later, this technique was modified where a sharp instrument was inserted into the eye to break the zonules. In 1748, the first surgical cataract removal occurred in Paris. Topical anesthetic was instilled and an incision was made that went halfway around the cornea and the entire opaque lens was removed. It was important that the lens was ripened meaning completely hardened so that the lens would not break into pieces when being removed. Thus this surgery was restricted to only the most advanced cataracts. Fine sutures weren t available at that time so patients were immobilized with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Trash, recycling and its removal has been in history for centuries. As long as humans in society consume, there will be the remainder of something that humans see as trash. Society holds a different perspective on trash and recycling that varies from society, culture, tradition and way of life. A matter of perspective of some incidents review that one man s trash is another man s treasure and if one wastes not, they want not. It is never permissible to place a burn pile or trash barrel within the county right of way. Recycling is also more difficult because pick up is not available in all rural areas, Prior to purchase of the property of 8 acres, the event of trash was placed in a perspective that it was possible for a trash route. However, the county line of Clinton County is indeed where the trash pick up ends. That line is less than ¼ mile away from our residence. The city of address is Lowden, Iowa. Their landfill is full and has taken the option to send their waste to another landfill. There is no rural service for Cedar County in our section of the county. The actions of waste management are solely the responsibility of the property owner and there is a limited amount of space to store trash. In the event of problem solving the trash, it has been a solution to store that which could not be burned into trash bins each sorted to the type. Those items consist of tin cans, glass, batteries, light bulbs, milk jugs, and margarine bowls. It is understandable that milk jugs and margarine bowls would indeed burn, but the hardened plastic once it is melted still is a solid waste that must be dealt with in the end in the ashes. Most of them are found in mixtures and in order to achieve a pure form they need to be separated, isolated, and purified. However, there are endless numbers of possible mixtures, which make it impossible to have a pre designed procedure for every mixture. So chemists often have to make their own procedures. • 8. Their Eyes Were Watching God And The Road Unknown Forces and Their Impact The books, Their Eyes Were Watching God and The Road, seem to be completely different from each other for various reasons. One takes place in the south during the early 1900 s while the other takes place in the future after an apocalyptic event. However, both books share a similar idea. In both books the main characters have spiritual connections with an unknown force that is the main cause of both their misfortune and their happiness. Overall, both authors from Their Eyes Were Watching God and The Road believe that there is a higher being that has control over both the good and bad aspects of life. Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston follows a young African American woman named Janie as she tells her friend Pheoby about her past experiences. It can be assumed that nature as well higher being or unknown force drives Janie s morals and shapes her experiences. The first instance where Janie connects with nature in a significant way was an experience she had when she was sixteen. She was lying under the pear tree in her backyard when she noticed the bees around the tree. She saw a dust bearing bee sink into the sanctum of a bloom; the thousand sister calyxes arch to meet the love embrace and the ecstatic shiver of the tree from root to tiniest branch creaming in every blossom and frothing with delight. So this was a marriage! She had been summoned to behold a revelation (Hurston 10). Something out of Janie s control brought ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. The Book Shane, By Jack Gow Honorable and Courageous Manhood The theme in the book Shane, by Jack Schaefer, portrays that true manhood consists not of bravado or status, but of character, honor, and loyalty. The main character is a man named Shane, who rides into a small valley mysteriously at the beginning of the book and takes a position as the aid of a farmer, Joe Starett. When Shane arrives, Joe and the other farmers of the valley are struggling, while the rancher Fletcher is the highest valley authority. The townspeople and Bob, Joe s son, struggle to discover what make a man honorable and manly. They hold Fletcher and his cowboys as authorities, manly men in a culture that admires this, because of the glamour of their profession. Fletcher s confidence and bravado, as well as his profession and position, appear to the townspeople to be the epitome of manhood. Bob falls into this easy way of thinking as well; he says that before Shane came into his life his highest aspiration was to become like his father, but his ambition was to first be a cowboy. Bob visualizes himself riding through the country: rough, strong, free, and well liked. After Shane arrives, Bob starts thinking about true manhood, comparing his father, Shane, Fletcher, and the cowboys. He realizes that manhood is not being like Fletcher, with shows of bravado designed to insult others, but instead is standing up for your family and principles when necessary. Bob also learns that manhood has to do a great deal with character, finding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on A Century of Physics A Century of Physics By the end of the nineteenth century after more than two thousand years of intellectual struggle that began with the Greek philosophers, physical scientists had reason to believe that they were beginning to understand the universe. As the element polonium, identified by Polish born Marie Curie in 1898, emits radiation it changes spontaneously into lead. What forces are at work inside them? Such questions were new to physics, and were to remain at its cutting edge throughout the twentieth century. The answers would affect our lives in ways no one could imagine in the year of 1900. The twentieth century began with a flurry of innovations such as the airplane, the mass produced automobile, and transatlantic radio communication. They transformed the world, but the changes sweeping over physics at the same time were far more radical. Those brought about not just different lifestyles, but new ways of thinking. Modern physics grew out of classical physics and rest of three pillars: the quantum theory, which describes atoms and their nuclei, Special Relativity, which deals with the relationship between space and time and General Relativity, which explains gravity. What s in it for them? Many times, people only care about how they will be benefitting in any situation. Because of this, business owners always need to think about what their employees or consumers will be getting out of any transaction. This is the most effective way to win them over. Business owners need to clearly illustrate the benefits for those who have their company in consideration. The Quest For Effective Leadership Introduction In the quest for effective leadership; having a shared vision and practicing strong communication skills among staff, administrators and faculty are critical components to a successful organization. Effective leadership begins with a vision, action and buy in from all levels of the college. Leaders have struggled with what their vision of success is and can be for all involved. A convincing vision has the power to inspire, clarify and focus on the work of an entire organization. Often in a rush to get things done, we expect our colleagues to support our efforts without giving them a good reason why. Effective leadership also means communicating regularly and being a good listener who shares information with their organization and encourages open dialogue. (Use a citation here) Context and culture The culture in an organization depends greatly on how successful a leader is capable of becoming an active person who sees the future in others. Leadership skills should match the values of the culture which in return should drive the initiatives of the college. For employees to function and succeed, it is essential they understand and believe in the culture. This process involves low thermodynamic efficiency and high energy demand due to the heat that is added in the bottom reboiler and thrown away in the top condenser. For this reason, to improve energy efficient distillation systems, heat integration concept was first proposed by Brugma [1], Wright [2], Petlyuk et al.[3] and Freshwater [4,5] almost 70 years ago. Nakaiwa et al. [6] has recently discussed these systems in an excellent review. In another review, Amiya [7] introduced many other heat integration schemes which have been developed so far in depth. Heat pump systems can be used to upgrade heat from a lower quality energy source in the condenser to a higher quality energy source in the reboiler. Heat pump assisted distillation column was first introduced in the mid 1970s [8]. Previously, a number of studies on heat pump assisted distillation have been reported in the literature. Omideyi et al. [9] developed a quick selection method for vapor compression (VC) heat pump assisted distillation columns. Fonyo and Mizsey [10] simplified the method and included vapor recompression as well as absorption heat pump scheme. Kiss et al. Since the king relied a large deal on the council for making decisions, Parliament did not meet as often.4 Clarendon also knew that the militia was a major part of government, but he wanted to keep the army small. He knew that a large army would make the people nervous about an absolutist monarchy. A small militia kept the country safe from a possible foreign attack.5 There was one main issue that Clarendon and Charles disagreed on very strongly: religious tolerance. Clarendon believed in using coercive acts to eliminate dissenters. However, Charles did not want to persecute people with different religious beliefs if they were not causing problems for England. In April of 1660, he put these ideas into effect with the Breda Declaration. This declaration was the first of many signs that Charles was impartial to Catholics. Abstract One of the difficulties when objectivity looking into defining the levels of fidelity required in training simulations is that simulators are frequently seen as replacements for training that previously would have been conducted on the real equipment. The perception therefore is that the simulation should be as close as possible to the real deal in order to successfully replace it. However, the genuine advantage of using simulation in training is that where the actual equipment is designed for real operations, a training simulator can be designed to meet specific training needs without unnecessarily extending the fidelity of the simulation. A vital ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This has lead to an overemphasis on technological advancement to enhance simulation based training (Francis Heybroek, 1992). In turn, this focus creates a lack of emphasis on the role of recreating authentic operational scenarios which is the baseline for training airline pilots. All this leads into another important aspect of simulation fidelity; Instructional Systems Design (ISD). ISD is definitively linked to training effectiveness and is relative to the way in which simulator based training is designed for the target audience. Recently there has been considerable research which suggests that there is not a straightforward relationship between the increased realism of high fidelity simulation and any significant enhancement in training effectiveness (National Center for Simulation, 2007). In fact, the research actually shows that increases in both efficiency and transfer of training do occur through the careful process of ISD, and in particular the design of simulation based scenarios that are responsive to the real operational needs of the target learner. These research results provide the first facet that high fidelity simulation is not necessarily required for airline pilot training. Operational Fidelity Within the commercial aviation setting, considerable criticism has been directed at the current forms of simulator based training for their singular focus on the ... • 37. Shakespeare s King Lear And The Winter s Tale A prevailing theme in Shakespeare s King Lear and The Winter s Tale is the possibility of reconciliation. Both rulers, Lear and Leontes, allow their political authority to often clash with their internal flaws, but Shakespeare presents these characters in two different settings, each of which equally produce two aspects of redemption that are worthy of discourse. They resolve their mistakes, and with other characters and forcers within each play that aid in their restoration, Lear and Leontes come to find emotional redemption. However, unlike the ending of The Winter s Tale, where supernatural forces intervene and Leontes former life is completely recovered, King Lear is not as fortunate. While Lear achieves emotional redemption and realizes the love and affection of his daughter and closest friends, his life is not restored to its former lever of grandeur. This begs the question of whether complete redemption, encapsulating both the emotional and physical elements, truly exists in a natural world. BPD should only assign officers to work in a jurisdiction where they are familiar with the residents and the demographics of the area. For example, if an area is 90% African American and is known for high drug trafficking, an officer from a county with majority white residents and only a discriminatory point of view on African Americans should not be assigned to work in this area. It is important that officers familiarize themselves with the area they are policing because it will give them a certain level of understanding and aid in determining how they should approach situations.
