How Did The Quattrocento Influence The Renaissance
During the period of Quattrocento in Italy, individuals were part of elite circles and embraced
humanism, an emphasis on education and on expanding knowledge (especially of classical
antiquity), the exploration of individual s potential and a desire to excel, and a commitment to civic
responsibility and moral duty (pg.560). During the Quattrocento, Italyenjoyed an affluence of
artistic flair. The artistic accomplishments, the expansion of humanism, and economic boom
cultivated the Renaissance, and forever altering the direction and approach of art in the Western
World. During this time, Italy witnessed a constant change in its political and economic levels
including the shift of power amidst the numerous city states. Individuals of high status and those
with humanistic views were in the best... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The High Renaissance was a period between 1495 and the death of Leonardo da Vinci in 1519 and
the death of Raphael in 1520. The High Renaissance retained the same style and values as the
Renaissance with these new emerging artists Leonardo and Raphael. During the Late Renaissance
(16th century) there was an interest in classical culture and perspective however, a new style called
mannerism emerged which, challenged Renaissance naturalism almost as soon as Raphael has been
laid to rest (pg.600). Unlike Quattrocento, the period of Cinquecento pertained exclusively to
outstanding quality both technically and aesthetically of the art and architecture that was produced
during this time. Their art during this time demonstrated new scientific discoveries about man and
nature. One of the most notable painters during this time was Leonardo da Vinci, who believed that
science and art should be intertwined to envision a more realistic view of the

Personality Test Strength
The personality test reveals that my primary mode of living is focused internally (BSM

Progression of Time and Community in the Works of Johnson...
The future of society is an often unpredictable and unpleasant topic due to the many variables
which effect it. In The Lost Island and in The City of the End of Things , the future is depicted as
something detrimental to the society each story represents. In Pauline Johnson s short story, The
Lost Island , this concept is expressed in the visions given by the Medicine Man, who foretells the
oppression of his people by the arrival of the colonizers. In Archibald Lampman s poem, The City
of the End of Things , this concept manifests through the downfall of greater humansociety in
favour of a more robotic era. This essay focuses on how these two texts exemplify the variable
nature of the future by focusing on the harmful possibilities... Show more content on

After this point in the story, the medicine man returned to his people and told them to look for
the island before dying in his sleep; however, nobody could ever find the island (Johnson 235).
The main character shares his own desire to discover it when he says, twice I have seen its
shadow...[it] fell across my canoe, across my face, and across the waters beyond...there is
something on that island that I want. I shall look for it until I die, for it is there (Johnson 233).
He continues to search for the island in order to obtain those long lost traits, for himself and to
uphold the former status of his people. Yet the story ends with the notion that such a reclamation
may never occur. The main character claims he has been touched by the shadow of the island, but
only the shadow (Johnson 235). This indicates that he and his people may only ever have the
memories of the past to haunt them as they progress. In this way the story is indicating that the
modern society the Aboriginal people thrive in is already stagnant and dead. Archibald Lampman s
poem, The City of the End of Things , depicts the future of humanity as a hellish reality, where
human existence is met with suffering. Human society itself is absent in favour of a
technologically advanced, robotic era. This apocalyptic portrayal of the global community produces
powerful, demonic imagery in order to depict the downward

This way it becomes easier to understand how vulnerable the things the world takes for granted
are. Better understanding and insight of the value leads to appreciating it more, and provides a
stronger awareness and protection of the environment and habitat of the ecosystem. Calculating a
monetary value makes it even more powerful, because it seems like people have an easier time
valuing services that have their economic value in numbers over services that have a moral value
only described through the importance of them. Having a monetary value also makes it easier for
governments to make reasonable decisions and policies about the ecosystem. But at the same time,
putting an obvious price and financial value on nature makes it a commodity that can be traded,
which can put its biodiversity into dangerous, especially for rare species and habitats. (Valuing

The Bite Of The Mango
Compare and Contrast Essay
The Bite of the Mango speaks about the war in Sierra Leone in the 1990s and is through the eyes
of Mariatu Kamara, a female and amputee, while A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier
is written by Ishmael Beah, a boy soldier that lost everything. They both were casualties to one of
the most brutal civil wars; however, their experiences were different due to gender.
Kamara originated from Sierra Leone and lived in small villages until the age of 12. She heard talk
of rebels coming to her villages and she and her family prepared for it every time until the day her
grandmothers superstitions came true. Whenever you dream of palm oil , my grandmother had
told me when I was seven, blood will spill by the end of the day (Kamara 25). Her first night in
Manarma she dreamt of palm oil, and the next morning her life was changed forever. Ambushed
by the rebels and nowhere to go, she was forced to watch villagers burned alive inside a house.
After the rebels let her go, she travelled around until she found help from a man who pointed her
in the direction of women who would help her to a clinic in Port Loko. Upon reaching the village,
she was treated as if she was a threat, and after clearing up the misunderstanding, was told why.
The rebels had been sending young girls under the guise of needing help, into villages, and once
their guards were done, the rebels would attack. Teens were to be wary of in the villages. Once she

My Family Coat Of Arms
Have you ever thought about the olden days when there were fair maidens, knights and coats of
arms? Have you wondered about your family coat of arms? What do you think would be on your
family coat of arms? Speaking about family coat of arms, many knights wore coats of arms on
their armor. Wearing it on their armor represented their kingdoms that they came from. I ve read
short stories, books, and seen tv shows about knights wearing the coat of arms. Reading and seeing
about the coat of arms made me wonder as well, what my family coat of arms would look like.
So I made one using a website and I knew it had to have three main things on it. Those three
main things I put on my family s coat of arms were symbols, values, and a motto. For one of my
main things, symbols, I chose three symbols to represent my family, which are a crown, a heart,
and arrows. The meaning of the crown is that my family is independent. I like to think that the
crown symbolizes how independent we are. I think it means independent because when I think
of a crown I think of kings and queens who are very independent. Think about it, they have to
raise a castle out of nothing and make sure it doesn t fall, in their hands. They have a lot to worry
about and a lot of decisions to make. That is why I thought about my family when I saw the
crown. After I chose the crown, I picked a heart. Right as I saw the heart, I thought about my
family and how caring we are. A heart is a very good way to symbolize caring. I m positive that a
heart is the symbol for caring. My last symbol that I chose were arrows. I chose arrows because I
thought that they meant hardworking. At least to me they mean hard working because way back
knights could have chosen to use bow and arrows. I feel that knights had to be very hardworking
and even brave. That s why I thought that the arrows had a relation to hard working. My family is
all of these symbols and more.
After putting symbols on my coat of arms I added values to those symbols. My values are
independent, caring, and hardworking. Independent is something that can be very bad or good
depending on the situation. For example, if it s a group project than you have to work with
everyone and can t be independent, but if

Enrollment Management Within Postsecondary Education
The position of Director of Admission is an integral part of enrollment management within
postsecondary education. What is enrollment management and what part does the Director of
Admissions play within it? Enrollment management is an institutional tool designed to deal with
how students choose a college, how they make the transition to higher education, what leads them to
stay or drop out, and what influences how well they do while enrolled (Hossler, 2004). According to
Baker, in her article, Introducing Enrollment management, the division of enrollment management
encompasses four areas:
Admissions: taking students from recruitment to enrolled through collaboration with financial aid,
registration, orientation, curriculum, and student life.
Retention: keeping enrolled or re enrolling students
Research: Collecting and analyzing trends that affect enrollment
Marketing: Promoting the institution
The Director of Admissions embodies the admissions or recruitment aspect of the division.
Reporting directly to the President of the university or the Vice President of enrollment
management, the Director provides guidance and direction to the admissions staff, recognizes
trends in enrollment, conducts research and analyzes data to ensure that the Admissions
Department is meeting the enrollment standards of the institution. The position typically requires a
Master s degree and 1 3 years of managerial experience in college admissions (Monster. 2013). The

The Movie Twilight Film Analysis
Twilight
Twilight, is a movie known by many people, directed by Catherine Hardwicke in 2008. Twilight
is just the first of many movies in the series, The Twilight Saga . Isabella Bella Swan (Kristen
Stewart), the main character, is a teenage girl, she is moving from her loved home in sunny and
warm Arizona with her mom, to Forks, a always rainy and dreary small town in the state of
Washington to live with her father. When she goes to school she meets Edward Cullen(Robert
Pattinson) a vampire, when she first sees him she thinks something is different but something about
him is attractive to him. Edward and Bella have never talked to each other but the director shows
the viewer the awkward tension the characters are feeling.

Eventually, Bella and Edward had fallen in love with each other. Edward told her that he is a
vampire. At this part of the movie the viewer already know he is and Bella has an idea that he is
as well. But, it is an important part to the movie because it shows the viewer how Edward tells
her how he really does not want to hurt her but it is hard for him because he can t read her
thoughts, Bella is not scared at all. But when the viewer watches the film they want to see Bella
s reaction and how Edward responds to it. This is a very meaningful part of the movie and was a
great way to show how Bella wasn t frightened that Edward was a vampire and how she trusted
him greatly. Bella also knew that Edward would not harm her in any way. Even though Edward
was not sure of himself that he had what it takes to be strong and not change Bella s life forever,
by turning her into his kind, a vampire.
There are many formal film techniques used by the director in Twilight. Such as CGI. In order to
portray the supernatural effects the director uses CGI. In the beginning of the film the director uses
an establishing shot to show where the movie is taking place. It shows Arizona and then fades into
showing how different the small town of Forks is. There countless film techniques in Twilight, but
another important one would be a high angle shot when Edward is standing up in a tree and the
camera is placed on Bella looking up

Caesar and hesitated to act diplomatically in order to ensure that Rome would not be run to the

of those concerned people who was indefinitely a patriot, and only acted out of his best interest for
the future of Rome. Cassius made careful attempts at convincing Brutus in order to betray Caesar.

Technology Impact On Society
It is abundantly clear that the development of technology has had an impact on society. But there
are many theories as to what exactly the impact is, and how that impact affects the members of
the society. A few of the theories put forth are by Gerhard Lenski, Leslie White, and Alvin Toffler.
There are both similarities and differences to each of these theories. Let s consider each theory
separately, then we will have a clearer idea of how they relate to each other and how they vary.
Gerhard Lenski was a sociologist who believed that a society s ability to survive is governed by its
level of technology; that is, society changes, survives, and evolves through technological
advancement. Information and communication are key to progress. Most notably, the greater the
knowledge of the natural world, the better the ability to improve society. He identified four stages
of communication. The first, which could also be called biological communication, is the transfer
of genetic information to a new generation. Second is awareness of self and the world around us,
or sentience. Next, is the capability for logic. Collective goals can be served on the basis of
observation and analysis. Finally, there is the mastery of various forms of communication language,
writing, and symbols. This last stage sets the foundation for civilization. Additionally, Lenski
suggested four levels of technological development. First, a hand to mouth existence, called hunter
gatherer. Next, farming begins

Bodies and Minds
How do our bodies and minds change from early to late adulthood?

How do our bodies and minds change from early to late adulthood?
As we age does our mind simply begin to deteriorate in the same fashion as our body does in
regards to it physical capabilities? Have you wondered what affect does peri and post menopause
have in relation to memory decline in women? Is dementia directly related to cognitive aging? All
of these conditions have one thing in common, they all occur as the human body starts to age into
late adulthood. Aging from early to late adulthood has an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

As the body ages into middle adulthood which is forties to sixties other physical changes take place.
Physical change become noticeable, disease becomes more prevalent, reaction time slows, eyesight
diminishes, height begins to slowly decline, and menopause occurs in women and the male
reproductive system starts to slowly change. In late adulthood which is sixties and beyond, height
continues to decline, the senses continue their gradual decline and become more noticeable, bone
diseases, cancer, cardiovascular diseases become prevalent and dementia eventually affects a large
proportion of adults. Under normal conditions a person cannot be prevented from experiencing
predetermined physical changes (Mossler, 2013). Another aspect that changes with aging is
cognitive development.
Cognitive development is a broad domain that refers to the development of the mind. Cognitive
processes are connected to the growth and decline of memory. Cognition includes the basics of
how we learn, make decisions and use language. Mental cognitive development is effected by age
as well. One of the reasons many think all older people are in rapid decline is due to the availability
heuristic. The availability heuristic is a mental shortcut that causes people to make quick, incorrect
judgments based on limited information. Older people in decline get more attention than those who
are independent, so the available information

Summary Of Nancy Mairs On Being A Cripple
Juney Ngan When undermined by an incurable disease, it s difficult to think positively. Especially
with multiple sclerosis, where life adjustments including changes to communication, daily routines,
even basic bodily functions are necessary, it s likely to approach situations hopelessly. However,
essayist Nancy Mairs provides her own detailed anecdote on accepting these lifelong impairments.
In her essay, On Being a Cripple, Mairs develops her attitude toward her condition through multiple
accounts of asyndetons, figurative language, and her personal experience. Through her careful use
of asyndetons, Mairs makes it evident that multiple sclerosis has taken a lot away from her.

It was new to her, considering that tripping and dropping things isn t exactly normal on a regular
basis. Doing so didn t necessarily make it easier to continue all her everyday activities, either.
Rather than resting herself, Mairs mentions how she spends a lot of time in extremis and,
impatient with limitation, I tend to ignore my fatigue until my body breaks down in some way
and forces rest (p5). She lists what she is forced to endure everyday, aware that the common man
doesn t have to put up with what she suffers. Despite the burden the disease has placed on her,
Mairs still considers herself lucky so far. My world has, of necessity, been circumscribed by my
losses, but the terrain left me has been ample enough for me to continue many of the activities
that absorb me (p4). She suggests that things are still looking up for her; instead of dwelling on
what she isn t able to do anymore, Mairs demonstrates that she still looks forward to other
specialties. Recognizing that it s a lifelong strain, she shows persistence and willingness to adjust

The Convergence Of Old Media With New Media
This essay will be assessing the convergence of old media with new media through the examination
of their uses within the film Johnny Mnemonic (Longo 1995). Along with convergence theory, this
essay will touch on Dystopianism, Vincent Mosco s Myth , and the notion of Symptomatic
technology. It is the intention of this paper to cover each topic in turn, using them to pick apart
and examine the sample film. Johnny Mnemonic is the 1995 film adaptation of William Gibson s

As in this example, Convergence relies extensively on the active participation of the medium s
users. In this vein, the producers of convergence media actively encourage users to explore and
make further connections between multiple media outlets, creating in the process, a shift in the
cultures of the users (Jenkins 2006). Convergence of media doesn t simply happen across various
media sources within one culture, but can also connect varying media outlets in differing cultures
simultaneously. Johnny made a phone call from Newark to Beijing via the Net. The Net is
convergent technology using electricity, video software to project a 3 dimensional version of the
internet that allows users to interact directly with the Net, audio adaptations to allow for audio
interactions with the servers, and a connection from the individual terminal to the main server of
the Net. The entire world which Johnny inhabits is comprised of convergent technologies. At the

How Does Theodor Seuss Geisel s Life Influence His Work
Theodor Seuss Geisel s personal life that influenced his work
Theodor Seuss Geisel is best known around the world under the pseudonym Dr. Seuss for writing
phenomenal children s books, which taught children how to read and imagine the world in a
different way. Geisel wanted children to build a critical life skill by most importantly learning
how to read. He is an American icon because his work represents children s literature, cartoon
surrealism, and nonsense poetry. Geisel s personal life influenced his work by the way he was
raised as a child, his education, and marriages that motivated him to become one of the most

Sshe became depressed about him having an affair with her best friend named Audrey Stone

Essay about Glycolic Acid
Glycolic acid is a group of chemicals known as alpha hydroxyl acids or fruit acids. It is mainly
derived from sugar cane, and hence it is a natural product. The citric acid found in oranges and
other citrus fruits also come under the same division as glycolic acids. The glycolic acid acne
treatment can be effectively used to treat some cases of acne.
Glycolic acid is mostly used in cosmetic forms rather than industrial. It is usually used as a skin
exfoliant and a moisturizer. Some proponents of glycolic acid state that the products which contain
less than 10% concentration of glycolic acid is rendered useless. The government considers the
use of glycolic acid over the 10% concentration can prove to be a dangerous material and this is ...

These chemical peels can also be used for improving the appearance of the skin which is damaged
by previous acne scarring.
Characteristics of glycolic acid
Glycolic acid acne therapy is basically derived from sugar cane. It is a member of the alpha
hydroxyl family of ingredients which are used in skin care and cosmetic treatments. the glycolic
acid is an important part of the light chemical peels, used by the skin specialists to loosen the
black heads and also reduce the number of papules which are caused due to acne. Glycolic acid is
also used in superficial to moderate chemical peels which are used to remove the acne damaged
tissues to allow a new and fresh skin to appear.
Effects of glycolic acid acne treatment
Glycolic acid can make the skin sensitive than normal. This is why it is best to always test a small
area of the skin before you start using the glycolic acid acne treatment on your skin.
Glycolic acid exfoliates the skin. The glycolic acid travels deep below the acne blemishes and
breaks down the dead skin cells that are clogging the pores.
Glycolic acid also has an ability to moisturize your skin after it removes the dead skin cells. This
allows the acne prone skin to remain moisturized and prevent drying out and promoting more
production of more oil to compensate for the moisture that was lost in the treatment process.
When you are using the glycolic acid acne products, prevent sun exposure on your skin or

GENESIS AND ANCIENT MYTHS OF THE NEAR EAST
When one approaches the biblical text, it is important to explore the cultural context in which the
text occurs. With regard to the Book of Genesis, it is important to examine the writing with other
contemporary works of similar geography and topics. The people of ancient Mesopotamia, where
the oldest civilizations originated, produced a number of stories of creation and natural
occurrences. It is important to note that many of the stories of the Sumerians, Akkadians and
Hebrews began as oral traditions as the events they depict predate writing, so it is difficult to date
these works on the basis of when these prehistoric myths were initiated. Comparison to writings

Just as there existed beings outside of creation in the Enuma Elish, the Hebrew God was present
prior to the formation of the world. As the universe becomes defined in the following stages, the
development described in each of the stories show a resemblance in events and the order in which
they occurred. It is important to note that light existed, in both stories, independent of celestial
bodies. Next, in same order, the sky and ground are created, followed by luminaries or the sun,
moon and stars. The fact that the sequence of the creation stories is nearly identical can hardly be
accidental according to some scholars. Subsequently, man is created with elements of divinity,
given the task of working the soil . At the conclusion of each creation story, the deities rest from
their work. While it is necessary to refrain from exaggerating the influence found in these
similarities, it is equally essential to remain open to the understanding that these works emerged
within a similar conceptual world .
Though many similarities in the creation stories of Genesis and the Enuma Elish, the divergences
are much more far reaching and significant . Unlike the gods of depicted in the Enuma Elish who
were coexistent and coeternal with the comic matter , the Hebrew God is transcendent and separate
from the substance of the cosmos, having Himself created it. While the Hebrew God exists in
eternity past,

The Possibility Of De-Extinction In The World
Imagine a world where no human had the chance to live or have a life for themselves. There are
many species that get to experience what was just described. Lives are a thing of both the present,
past, and future and all eventually fade away. However, scientists through many, many years have
tried studying ways to bring back these lives. This idea and theory is called de extinction. Many
believe it to be an amazing thing to possibly have, and millions more believe it to be a terrible idea.
Those who believe this to be a bad idea are afraid of a possible Jurassic Park type of outcome
where the speciesbroke loose and killed people. Those who believe it s the right thing that needs
to be done believe it can help the world in many ways. Whether a world catastrophe would come
from the de extinction of many, or any species is in question though. There is a belief that the
world has its own order and that the age of many animals and species is over, but if the... Show

De extinction has the capability of helping the environment, helping the world s biodiversity,
and quite possibly helping the economy. There are many options that are available through de

Jane’s Path to Prosperity Essay
Jane s Path to Prosperity
In The beginning of Jane Eyre, Charlotte Bronte introduces Jane as an orphan girl who is residing
at Gateshead with Mrs. Reed and her children. Bronte walks us through the episodes of Jane s life
as she moves to Lowood, Thronfield, Moor House, and finally to Ferndean. Throughout these
stages, Bronte will show how charity was depicted through the interactions that Jane had. Through
these perspectives we will see that the results of how charity was regarded, based on the nineteenth
century concepts and views that Bronte discusses, point out the significance of charity in Jane Eyre.

Bronte s views on charity are first seen through the actions in the Reed household. Jane is an
orphan girl left to be taken care of by her uncle. However, her uncle passed away when she was
very young and she remains in the custody of the bitter Reeds. The reason as to why they are
bitter is because they are greedy and disregard Jane in all they do. In spite of the fact that she is
poor and has no family that cares for her, they harass and mock her instead of giving her love and
care. From an incident at the beginning of the novel, we can clearly see how Jane is mistreated.
When Jane is a girl of about nine years old, we learn that she has an interest in reading books.
She feels that reading will allow her to experience some of the excitement in the books
considering that she isn t part of the Reed family and is excluded from everything else that they
do. Even by engaging herself with reading some of their books, which were scarcely used by the
Reeds, Jane had to be punished for laying hands on their so called property because in their views,
since she s poor, she s unfit to touch them. We can see how cruel the Reeds are when John
confronts Jane for using their books:
You have no business to take our books; you are a dependant, mama says; you have no money:

The Crime Scene Of A Virginia Man
When dealing with other types of evidence such as hairs and fibers, tool marks, video footage, or
even a weapon used at a crime scene; it can be challenging connecting the evidence to the suspect
or even coming up with a suspect. These forms of evidence have been allowed in court in many
cases and have also convicted many innocent people. Years later, their cases have been re opened
with new DNAevidence and have set the innocent free. According to the Innocence Project,
Randolf Arledge was accused and convicted for murder. This article states that, in 2011, they
secured DNA testing of the physical evidence with the cooperation of the Navarro County
District Attorney s Office. The testing included hair samples from the hairnet and washings from
the victim s pubic hairs. (Innocence Project , n.d.) With these findings it exonerated Arledge
revealing the real perpetrator known as David Sims. Another case that was also exonerated due
to later DNA findings occurred in 2003. A Virginia man was released from prison after a post
conviction. DNA test proved that he did not rape a nursing student in 1981. The man spent two
decades in prison after being convicted of breaking into the women s apartment and raping her.
Two juries failed to reach a verdict, but the third jury found him guilty. (The United States
Department of Justice, 2014). The argument at hand is many feel DNA analysis is not most

Prejudice In Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen s usage of letters allows the reader to fully
comprehend the situation and certain feelings of the characters. For example, the two letters sent
by Jane Bennet to Elizabeth Bennet in Chapter 46 allow the novel to arrive at a turning point in

Wickham as well as Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy. However the seriousness of the situation in itself,
the relationship between Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet is furthermore developed because of
these two letters. Elizabeth turns to Mr. Darcy as soon as he appears and immediately notifies
him of everything. This action of hers illustrates the budding closeness between the two and
how she relies on Darcy. Both Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy blame themselves for not exposing Mr.
Wickham as the vagrant that he truly is. Therefore, this shared guilt provides the nascent couple
with a strong emotional connection and a universal principle. A major factor of a couple s
relationship is how they react in times of distress. Do they turn to each other for support or
withdraw from one another? Elizabeth s reliance on Mr. Darcy is a foreshadowing of a wonderful
relationship to come for the couple. The two letters alone are a catalyst in exposing these emotions
that might otherwise be suppressed. The two letters will generally contribute to furthering the
development of Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy s relationship. Perhaps the reasoning behind Lydia s
actions could be her family and their attitudes toward certain subjects such as men, romance, and
marriage. Mrs. Bennet is consistently pressuring her daughters to become married women in order
to ensure social status and financial security for the remainder of their lives. It seems that her only

Romantic Love Is A Deep Interaction Between Two Persons
Romantic love is a deep interaction between two persons. It is not just any interaction, but one in
which both persons lose themselves in the other. Concentration and fusion into the whole being can
never take place through my agency, nor can it ever take place without me. I become through my
relation to the Thou; as I become I, I say Thou (Buber, pg. 160). So romantic lovehappens when an
understanding comes to being that the other is you and potentially your entire universe of being
for as long as you are in relation. Although, there can be instances where the relation is
involuntary and isn t fluid. There is pulling and pushing. While I attempt to free myself from the
Other, the Other is trying to free himself from mine; while I seek to enslave the Other, the Other
seeks to enslave me (Sartre, pg. 194). So there can be friction in romantic love, but in the end the
two are still together. Insofar as to say that they can t pull away from the universe that is their
relation.
The presence of love and sex can cause a person to have a more authentic existence. This is
because love and sex are almost a necessity for everyone. ...sex, which makes up a part of that evil
urge with which one can and must respond to what meets one if one s existence is to be authentic

authentic act. And to have that relationship be as fulfilling as Buber would say the I Thou

Elaboration Of Instant Coffee And The Extraction Process...
Elaboration of instant coffee. The extraction process is one of the most important stages in the
production of instant coffee. The extraction is usually done on roasted and crushed beans, using
water as the extractive fluid, obtaining a final solution that contains around 25 to 30% of solids.
The solution is then taken to an atomizer, which yields instant coffee grains as a final product.
Coffee extraction is carried out in equipment especially designed for this process, consisting of
extractors that work under countercurrent, multistage systems, and fixed beds. The solid recently
charged is extracted with water at 100В°C and, as the process continues, the temperature of the
water is increased. High temperatures favor the hydrolysis of insoluble carbohydrates, which in this
way become soluble, increasing the soluble solids content in the final solution. However, very high
temperatures can hydrolyze substances that may confer undesirable aromas and flavors to the
extract. FIGURE 21.17

Kentucky. There are basically two types of wrestlers: superstars, who are the malecompetitors, and
divas, who are the female competitors. The superstars and divas can be either heel, a bad guy, or
face, a good guy. When the wrestler switches from face to heel it is called a heel turn likewise
when they switch from heel to face it is a face turn. The superstar and diva also portray a certain

purpose and that is to feed their families. These hunters usually hunt during the specific seasons
where they can harvest the animals that their families will eat. Hunting is also an effective form of
management because it will remove a number of individual animals from a population and prevent
them from reproducing. Reducing the population will reduce human/animal conflicts, such as car
collisions, Lyme disease and landscaping damage.

The Two Sides Essay
The Two Sides The views we have are what shapes us, sometimes we have vast knowledge of
ideas. Other times we are limited in what we can understand. We are given the choice of seeking
out more of said idea or choosing to remain as is. Cathedral by Raymond Carver is a story that
gives us a look into what it is like to have our views challenged through experiencing them first
hand. We are introduced to the story by narration and we are given a brief summary of how his
wife and the blind man had met from the narrrator. We learn that the blind man is named Robert, he
is the only characterthat is named and described in the story. After the exchange of greetings and

Like the way the Naratator speaks of the blind man s marriage. He makes assumptions on how
pitiful it must have been for his wife to never know the feeling of being complemented for ones
appearance by her husband. How pathetic it was for her to go to her grave knowing that he
never knew what she looked like. I felt sorry for the blind man for a little bit. And then I found
myself thinking what a pitiful life this woman must have led. Imagine a woman who could
never see herself as she was seen in the eyes of her loved one. Carver (p.3) Through the
Progression of the story, we see that the main character starting to form a different outlook on
Robert. When the main character and the blind man are watching television in silence, a
documentary about cathedrals airs on the television prompting the narrator to ask if the blind
man had any idea what a cathedral actually looks like. Robert is only able to describe the process
of it being built but asks the narrator to describe one to him. As he attempts to describe the
cathedrals our characters are starting to form this bond. After failing miserably Robert then asks if
he and the narrator can draw a Cathedral together. As they draw we as readers start becoming more
aware of the change happening within the narrator. The narrator keeps drawing with the
encouragement from Ralph, as

The World Of International Relations
Just as this book serves as a great introduction to the world of international relations, the first
chapter does a great job of exploring what the book will cover. It covers the many viewpoints of
international relations. There are many concepts and terms that the chapter covers which can
help one understand politics. Some of these key concepts are cognitive dissonance, mirror
images, and enduring rivalries. Many key terms that increase one s knowledge of world politics
that are covered in this chapter are actors, power, and sovereignty. World politics can affect us
more than we may think. In the siege of Lebanon during the 1982 Lebanon War a US backed

International organizations and courts were even established. Sadly these organizations did not
hold up in the years following their creation. The rather quick demise of liberalism contributed
to World War II which would go on to have massive effects on the world for years to come. In
chapter three the many theories of international decision making are covered. There are many
influences on the decision making process and they are the current global conditions, internal
characteristics of the state, and an actor s leadership. The three models of decision making are
also covered and they are decision making as a rational choice, bureaucratic politics, and
impactful leaders. There are also factors, domestic and global, that affect policy decisions and they
include military capabilities, economic conditions, types of government, global distribution of
power, and geopolitical powers. In 1962 during the Cuban missile crisis President Kennedy was
faced with a situation that, if handled wrong, could end the world. When deciding on proper
responses he would have to consider many of the factors that are discussed in the chapter like
military capabilities. Thankfully Kennedy considered the factors and decided on actions that would
not lead to a conflict with the Soviet Union. Rivalries and relations of the great powers are
explored in chapter four. It begins by explaining long cycle theory and hegemons. Then the causes

Effectiveness Of Daily Formative Assessments
Discussion This study investigated the effectiveness of daily formative assessments in the success
of low achieving ninth grade Algebra 1 students. Sending students into annual standardized tests,
like the Algebra 1 End of course exam, without quality daily assessments, often end with students
being placed in remedial courses the following year. The continual use of giving students failing
unit test grades, unsatisfactory semester exams that fail them for the semester, and no daily
feedback, does not prepare students for mastery of essential Algebra 1 material. Countless studies
show that the way teachers teach and students are assessed needs to change. In this study, it was
statistically determined that daily formative assessments fostered a significant positive impact on
student performance between a pre test and a post test. The study was proposed to determine if
formative assessments would make a statistical difference compared to traditional assessment
methods. According to the results of this study, students mastery of Algebra 1 concepts increased
due to the use of daily formative assessments. The daily formative assessments afforded the teacher
and the students with immediate feedback, allowing for a continual understanding of un mastered
Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) as needed to succeed on the summative assessment,
the Algebra 1 End of Course (EOC). From these findings, it can be concluded that the use of daily

Budget Cuts In Emergency Services
Wyatt Bradbury

Budget cuts in emergency services research paper Budget cuts have become prevalent in today s
society. More so in recent years inside of emergency services where until recently have been
immune. Governments have withheld from cutting because the 9/11 terrorist attacks placed
these services on a pedestal. This has caused a huge rise in cuts to many services. It also hits
harder in cities that are already inside of a budget crisis. Budget cuts should be prevented and
avoided in emergency services. In recent years funding for emergency services have been on a
steady decline since the 9/11 terror attacks. According to Walters [emergency services have] spent

Many do not know of the budget crisis going on but those that do recognize it is a major issue.
These citizens that understand what is going of have begun to protest because their safety is at
risk. The cuts that have been going on reduce the size of the police force which in turn brings crime
rates up, and also fire departments have fewer men and unmaintained equipment to help rescue
civilians. This scares many citizens into either moving to a city with a better emergency service
budget or protesting to get their city s budget raised. I pray that nobody in this room needs the
police or fire in their new future, another attendee remarked (qtd. In Smith 5). Many citizens feel
that their local governments have been focused on the wrong things. They believe that the local
governments have it all wrong. One citizen quoted in Smith paragraph 6 said the public service has
to be number one. These civilians have gone to city council meeting with petitions and protested a
change. In some areas, this has led to budget renegotiations as well as contracts being

Hinduism Religious Text
Hinduism, Religious Texts and the Afterlife Hinduism s sacred texts are known as the Vedas
which are comprised of four ancient books written from 1200 BC to 100 AD. These Vedas are
the Rig Veda, Sama Veda, Yajur Veda and the Atharva Veda. Over time these books have been
extended by other texts known as Brahmanas, Aranyakas and Upanishads. Other texts include the
epics: Ramayana and the Mahabharata, as well as the Puranas or the history of the universe. The
Puranas were designed for and used by the average Hindu (HinduismSacred Texts). The earliest
book is the Rig Veda, which is contains more than a thousand hymns that were meant to be said
during sacrifices by priests. The realm of the dead is explained as being an earth like realm and...

One is supposed to conduct these rituals accordingly or will be punished in the afterlife.
Shushan explains, those who fail to burn plants after placing them on the alter to Yama will, in
the afterlife, be bound by the neck and dragged by those plants (205). However, this works both
ways for the ones conducting the rituals and sacrifices. One is rewarded for the sacrifices made
in life in the afterlife. Once again this is explained, If a cow is sacrificed it is there to be milked
in Svargaloka (Shushan 205). Svargaloka is a realm of heaven. The Atharva Veda contains more
detailed descritptions of Svargaloka and really points out the distinct differences between
Yamaloka, Svargaloka and Naraka. Unlike the Rig Veda, the dead ascend through darkness in
beams of light while being raised upwards by gods of storm known as Maruts. The sinners, or
moral transgressors, are met with lightning from Yama s dogs, (Shyama and Shybala), while
heading to the hell realms known as Paravatas. Once the transgressors arrive they are met by evil
terrors and the immortals are said to be sitting in a river flowing with blood and eating

Robert Frost Poems Analysis
Robert Frost is a poet who is known for writing simple stories that contains deeper meanings
about life. In The Road Not Taken and Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening both depict
measuring life s decisions as a piece of the account. These poems signify a journey, where one
must choose between two paths in life. In both poems, the speakers reach a point of uncertainty
in their journeys. Although both stories have similar aspects in life decisions, there are some
differences. These differences are based on impulses. We can deduce this based on how each
speaker reacted to their decisions in the path they take in life. The following shows how decisions
can affect a person s viewpoint. In Stopping by Woodson a Snowy Evening the speakeris on a
journey in a snowy environment. He has doubts due to being in a secluded place, a place that s
far away from civilization. He stops to enjoy the beauty and the serenity of the snow falling in
the woods. He describes the woods as gradually fill up with snow (Line 4). He s confused as to
why he is so far away from any houses: To stop without a farmhouse near (Line 6). This allows
him to capture an image and embrace the beauty of the snow falling. He even describes how the
wind is easy and he is aware of everything around him. (Frost 89). Although he is enjoying the
moment the speaker knows he must come to a decision and move on. This shows that the speaker
knows that although he can enjoy the moment, he has to continue with his life The woods are
lovely...but I have promises to keep (Line 13 14).
In the poem, The Road Not Taken , the speaker must decide the path he is taking. This poem is
about a person who comes to a road, and which path he must take. As the speaker contemplate his
decisions, he knows he must make a the road a good one. So, he should choose wisely in making
the best decision. The speaker chooses his thought very carefully. He says, And looked down as
far as I could/To where it bent in the undergrowth (DiYanni 539). After giving it some thought, he
decides to take the road less traveled (DiYanni 540). The Road Not Taken implies a troublesome
decision in a man s life that could offer him a simple or hard way out. There is no answer of

Economic Integration
An economic integration, established on global, continental or regional level, is not a newborn
phenomenon. Ever since the voyages of Marco Polo in 1260, (Latham, 1958) the collaboration and
integration of world economies through trade, movements of factors of production and
transmission of economically effective knowledge and technology has been continuously
increasing. (Masson, 2000) The overall process of globalisation and economic integration has been
in most cases globally beneficial, but alongside winners it had also created losers, and the
progression of economic integration has neither always advanced smoothly nor has it been
advantageous to all whom it had affected. The ideas and their implementation leading towards

(Dearden McDonald, 2005) Suranovic emphasizes the importance of effectiveness of
communication between all integrated countries and also focuses his attention on the coordination
of their trade, fiscal and monetary policies. (Suranovic, 1998)
Tinbergen in his International Economic Integration recognized two integrational dimensions and
identified them as negative and positive. Negative integration, generally less complicated to reach
than the positive, eradicates the measures used by states to obstruct the free flow of economic
resources between integrated countries, while the positive integration involves alteration of already
existing economic and political instruments and permits international markets to operate more
effectively. (Tinbergen, 1965) Example of implementation of the negative dimension could be
found in the early stages of the European Union, which, by employing the positive approach,
reached the higher levels of the economic integration. (Banchoff Smith, 1999) It is very seldom
that countries involved in the process of integration actually follow a certain pattern, (Holden,
2003) however, there are several formally recognisable phases of

Comparative Essay On The American And French Revolutions
3.1 Short Paper: Comparative Essay on the American and French Revolutions
1.) Why does the United States come out its revolution with a republic instead of a monarchy?
Why do the French wind up with an Emperor Napoleon but the United States does not have a King
George of the House of Washington? There are moments in our history where the citizens of the
world stand up and for their beliefs, their honor, and themselves. They come together to reform the
existing government that is holding them back from achieving their desired lifestyle. When this
occurs, most likely, war is inevitable to follow. When war comes to a country, death and

When that monarchy went against the colonists, and regarded them a part of the empire, this was
not entirely how the colonist s wished to identify themselves. America and its colonists wished to
establish themselves as being independent from a monarchy and to have a say in how they were
ruled. After the revolution was over, Washington went back to Mount Vernon to retire, or so he
thought.
When Washington was asked by his fellow founding fathers to become the new King of the United
States, his reaction must have been priceless. After fighting the revolution for many long hard
years, to get away from a monarchy, and now they wanted to create another one. Washington had
his reasons why he did not wish to be king because, He was driven by Ameri can nationalism
years before independence was declared, and for eight long years after 1775 he sacrificed as a
soldier to bring the American na¬tion into being. He emerged from retirement to search for a
means of safeguarding a national Union imperiled by sectionalists and localists, and with
considerable misgivings he agreed to take on the presidency in an attempt to establish an energetic
national government and a robust and truly independent United States. Washington did not wish to
be King, he wished to have what he fought in the revolution for, a government that was governed by
the people not a monarch. America s founding fathers, were at the helm of the

The High Renaissance was a period between 1495 and the death of Leonardo da Vinci in 1519 and the death of Raphael in 1520. The High Renaissance retained the same style and values as the Renaissance with these new emerging artists Leonardo and Raphael. During the Late Renaissance (16th century) there was an interest in classical culture and perspective however, a new style called mannerism emerged which, challenged Renaissance naturalism almost as soon as Raphael has been laid to rest (pg.600). Unlike Quattrocento, the period of Cinquecento pertained exclusively to outstanding quality both technically and aesthetically of the art and architecture that was produced during this time. Their art during this time demonstrated new scientific discoveries about man and nature. • 4. Progression of Time and Community in the Works of Johnson... The future of society is an often unpredictable and unpleasant topic due to the many variables which effect it. In The Lost Island and in The City of the End of Things , the future is depicted as something detrimental to the society each story represents. In Pauline Johnson s short story, The Lost Island , this concept is expressed in the visions given by the Medicine Man, who foretells the oppression of his people by the arrival of the colonizers. In Archibald Lampman s poem, The City of the End of Things , this concept manifests through the downfall of greater humansociety in favour of a more robotic era. This essay focuses on how these two texts exemplify the variable nature of the future by focusing on the harmful possibilities... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After this point in the story, the medicine man returned to his people and told them to look for the island before dying in his sleep; however, nobody could ever find the island (Johnson 235). The main character shares his own desire to discover it when he says, twice I have seen its shadow...[it] fell across my canoe, across my face, and across the waters beyond...there is something on that island that I want. I shall look for it until I die, for it is there (Johnson 233). He continues to search for the island in order to obtain those long lost traits, for himself and to uphold the former status of his people. Yet the story ends with the notion that such a reclamation may never occur. The main character claims he has been touched by the shadow of the island, but only the shadow (Johnson 235). This indicates that he and his people may only ever have the memories of the past to haunt them as they progress. In this way the story is indicating that the modern society the Aboriginal people thrive in is already stagnant and dead. Archibald Lampman s poem, The City of the End of Things , depicts the future of humanity as a hellish reality, where human existence is met with suffering. Human society itself is absent in favour of a technologically advanced, robotic era. This apocalyptic portrayal of the global community produces powerful, demonic imagery in order to depict the downward ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Having a monetary value also makes it easier for governments to make reasonable decisions and policies about the ecosystem. • 10. The Bite Of The Mango Compare and Contrast Essay The Bite of the Mango speaks about the war in Sierra Leone in the 1990s and is through the eyes of Mariatu Kamara, a female and amputee, while A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier is written by Ishmael Beah, a boy soldier that lost everything. They both were casualties to one of the most brutal civil wars; however, their experiences were different due to gender. Kamara originated from Sierra Leone and lived in small villages until the age of 12. She heard talk of rebels coming to her villages and she and her family prepared for it every time until the day her grandmothers superstitions came true. Whenever you dream of palm oil , my grandmother had told me when I was seven, blood will spill by the end of the day (Kamara 25). Her first night in Manarma she dreamt of palm oil, and the next morning her life was changed forever. Ambushed by the rebels and nowhere to go, she was forced to watch villagers burned alive inside a house. After the rebels let her go, she travelled around until she found help from a man who pointed her in the direction of women who would help her to a clinic in Port Loko. Upon reaching the village, she was treated as if she was a threat, and after clearing up the misunderstanding, was told why. The rebels had been sending young girls under the guise of needing help, into villages, and once their guards were done, the rebels would attack. Teens were to be wary of in the villages. • 11. My Family Coat Of Arms Have you ever thought about the olden days when there were fair maidens, knights and coats of arms? Have you wondered about your family coat of arms? What do you think would be on your family coat of arms? Speaking about family coat of arms, many knights wore coats of arms on their armor. Wearing it on their armor represented their kingdoms that they came from. I ve read short stories, books, and seen tv shows about knights wearing the coat of arms. Reading and seeing about the coat of arms made me wonder as well, what my family coat of arms would look like. So I made one using a website and I knew it had to have three main things on it. Those three main things I put on my family s coat of arms were symbols, values, and a motto. For one of my main things, symbols, I chose three symbols to represent my family, which are a crown, a heart, and arrows. The meaning of the crown is that my family is independent. I like to think that the crown symbolizes how independent we are. I think it means independent because when I think of a crown I think of kings and queens who are very independent. Think about it, they have to raise a castle out of nothing and make sure it doesn t fall, in their hands. They have a lot to worry about and a lot of decisions to make. That is why I thought about my family when I saw the crown. After I chose the crown, I picked a heart. Right as I saw the heart, I thought about my family and how caring we are. A heart is a very good way to symbolize caring. I m positive that a heart is the symbol for caring. My last symbol that I chose were arrows. I chose arrows because I thought that they meant hardworking. At least to me they mean hard working because way back knights could have chosen to use bow and arrows. I feel that knights had to be very hardworking and even brave. That s why I thought that the arrows had a relation to hard working. My family is all of these symbols and more. After putting symbols on my coat of arms I added values to those symbols. My values are independent, caring, and hardworking. Independent is something that can be very bad or good depending on the situation. For example, if it s a group project than you have to work with everyone and can t be independent, but if ... Enrollment management is an institutional tool designed to deal with how students choose a college, how they make the transition to higher education, what leads them to stay or drop out, and what influences how well they do while enrolled (Hossler, 2004). But when the viewer watches the film they want to see Bella s reaction and how Edward responds to it. Bella also knew that Edward would not harm her in any way. Even though Edward was not sure of himself that he had what it takes to be strong and not change Bella s life forever, by turning her into his kind, a vampire. There are many formal film techniques used by the director in Twilight. Such as CGI. In order to portray the supernatural effects the director uses CGI. But there are many theories as to what exactly the impact is, and how that impact affects the members of the society. A few of the theories put forth are by Gerhard Lenski, Leslie White, and Alvin Toffler. There are both similarities and differences to each of these theories. Let s consider each theory separately, then we will have a clearer idea of how they relate to each other and how they vary. Gerhard Lenski was a sociologist who believed that a society s ability to survive is governed by its level of technology; that is, society changes, survives, and evolves through technological advancement. Information and communication are key to progress. Most notably, the greater the knowledge of the natural world, the better the ability to improve society. He identified four stages of communication. The first, which could also be called biological communication, is the transfer of genetic information to a new generation. Second is awareness of self and the world around us, or sentience. Next, is the capability for logic. Collective goals can be served on the basis of observation and analysis. Finally, there is the mastery of various forms of communication language, writing, and symbols. This last stage sets the foundation for civilization. Additionally, Lenski suggested four levels of technological development. First, a hand to mouth existence, called hunter gatherer. Next, farming begins ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Under normal conditions a person cannot be prevented from experiencing predetermined physical changes (Mossler, 2013). Another aspect that changes with aging is cognitive development. Cognitive development is a broad domain that refers to the development of the mind. Cognitive processes are connected to the growth and decline of memory. Cognition includes the basics of how we learn, make decisions and use language. Mental cognitive development is effected by age as well. One of the reasons many think all older people are in rapid decline is due to the availability heuristic. • 32. Romantic Love Is A Deep Interaction Between Two Persons Romantic love is a deep interaction between two persons. It is not just any interaction, but one in which both persons lose themselves in the other. Concentration and fusion into the whole being can never take place through my agency, nor can it ever take place without me. I become through my relation to the Thou; as I become I, I say Thou (Buber, pg. 160). So romantic lovehappens when an understanding comes to being that the other is you and potentially your entire universe of being for as long as you are in relation. Although, there can be instances where the relation is involuntary and isn t fluid. There is pulling and pushing. While I attempt to free myself from the Other, the Other is trying to free himself from mine; while I seek to enslave the Other, the Other seeks to enslave me (Sartre, pg. 194). So there can be friction in romantic love, but in the end the two are still together. Insofar as to say that they can t pull away from the universe that is their relation. The presence of love and sex can cause a person to have a more authentic existence. This is because love and sex are almost a necessity for everyone. ...sex, which makes up a part of that evil urge with which one can and must respond to what meets one if one s existence is to be authentic (Friedman, pg. 536 537). To fulfill this evil urge and enter into relation with another in itself is an authentic act. And to have that relationship be as fulfilling as Buber would say the I Thou relationship ... • 36. Elaboration Of Instant Coffee And The Extraction Process... Elaboration of instant coffee. The extraction process is one of the most important stages in the production of instant coffee. The extraction is usually done on roasted and crushed beans, using water as the extractive fluid, obtaining a final solution that contains around 25 to 30% of solids. The solution is then taken to an atomizer, which yields instant coffee grains as a final product. Coffee extraction is carried out in equipment especially designed for this process, consisting of extractors that work under countercurrent, multistage systems, and fixed beds. The solid recently charged is extracted with water at 100В°C and, as the process continues, the temperature of the water is increased. High temperatures favor the hydrolysis of insoluble carbohydrates, which in this way become soluble, increasing the soluble solids content in the final solution. When you learn the history of hunting, you ll gain greater appreciation for this old tradition. Hunting is an essential component of conservation and can be used in everyday life; it has been a part of American history from its earliest beginnings and once provided a necessary source of food. In The Road Not Taken and Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening both depict measuring life s decisions as a piece of the account. These poems signify a journey, where one must choose between two paths in life. In both poems, the speakers reach a point of uncertainty in their journeys. Although both stories have similar aspects in life decisions, there are some differences. These differences are based on impulses. We can deduce this based on how each speaker reacted to their decisions in the path they take in life. The following shows how decisions can affect a person s viewpoint. In Stopping by Woodson a Snowy Evening the speakeris on a journey in a snowy environment. He has doubts due to being in a secluded place, a place that s far away from civilization. He stops to enjoy the beauty and the serenity of the snow falling in the woods. He describes the woods as gradually fill up with snow (Line 4). He s confused as to why he is so far away from any houses: To stop without a farmhouse near (Line 6). This allows him to capture an image and embrace the beauty of the snow falling. He even describes how the wind is easy and he is aware of everything around him. (Frost 89). Although he is enjoying the moment the speaker knows he must come to a decision and move on. This shows that the speaker knows that although he can enjoy the moment, he has to continue with his life The woods are lovely...but I have promises to keep (Line 13 14). In the poem, The Road Not Taken , the speaker must decide the path he is taking. This poem is about a person who comes to a road, and which path he must take.
