GUIDED HYPERMEDIA
    PROJECTS
What is hypermedia?

       Hypermedia combines the
       concepts of hypertext and
       multimedia to allow rich interaction
between the user and the material.
Two different approaches in the production of
self-made multimedia project:

    1. As an instructive tool, such as in the production
by the students of a power-point presentation of a
    selected topic.

    2. As a communication tool, such as when
students do a multimedia presentation (with
text, graphs, audio, video, interviews and other
more to stimulate the intellectual capacity of the
    student.)
Students as audience of
     Hypermedia
Students interact with
hypermedia environments
developed by others.
Example:

           *reading articles online
*observing PowerPoint Presentations
*playing interactive adventure games
*looking at various interactive websites on the
                    internet
Students as authors of Hypermedia
Students will develop hypermedia
projects by conducting research on a
topic, identifying relevant
information, and selecting what to
include in the final product.

Students will have to consider the
layout of the text as well as what
multimedia components to include in
their product.
Students must also determine on
how they will link information based on
whom the intended audience will be.

Students will have to learn how to
use software components, or perfect
their knowledge of the software they
are using, and then debug any
problems they encounter.
“Hypermedia project approach, in
general, is user-centered therefore
applying this to the educational setting
provides greater opportunities of
learning.”

What is Hypertext?

Hypertext is basically the same as regular
text except that it contains connections within
the text to other documents.
What is Multimedia?

Multimedia is media and content that uses
a combination of different content forms.
Multimedia comes in many different
formats. It can be almost anything you can
hear or see like
text, pictures, music, sound, videos, record
s, films, animations, and more.
