The Theory Of Juvenile Delinquency
On September 4 in 1989 Joan and her two daughters Jennifer and Melissa were found murder in there
home. A neighborhood kid named Craig Price became the polices main suspect due his long history of
criminal offense. After being interrogated he admitted to only wanting to rob the house but the mother
and the two kids had awoken and he killed them to protect himself from getting arrested. Craig then
admitted to murdering another woman from the area named Rebecca spencer when he was only
thirteen. People often question how somebody so young could such a terrifying act but researches how
found a couple of theories that could be the possible reason for this chaos. The theories of delinquent
life course pretty much is the backbone of many other more specific theories in the studying of
juvenile delinquency. Next in the book is the latent trait theory, which explains the flow of
delinquency over a lifetime. Finally the third theory is a mix of latent trait and life course theory
which states there is more then one path to crime and more than one class of offenders. The chapter
starts of with life course theory, which tends to show how every person related experience can effect a
child s future behavior.
Even as toddlers children begin making relationships and behaviors that will possibly determine there
adult future. Kids are expected to grow and follow social norms but some individuals are not capable
of maturing at a normal pace because of family, environmental, and personal

Harrison Bergeron Summary
The story Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. is about a couple in the year 2081. In 2081 the
government wants everyone to be equal so they hand out handicaps to people with good looks, vision,
strength, brains, and other talents. The couple, Hazel and George Bergeron, are watching dancers on tv
when an announcer comes on. He says a person named Harrison Bergeron has escaped prison. Then
they hear a thud and see a figure matching Harrison s description at the door. He goes up to the stage,
rips off his handicaps, and asks one of the dancers to volunteer to be his Empress. When one comes up
he takes off her handicaps and they begin to dance. They start to float till they kiss the ceiling. The
doors burst open and in walks the Handicapper General. She pulls out a gun and shoots them both. I m
going to prove that the setting of this story needs more detail and that the characters, specifically
Harrison and Hazel Bergeron, have nice subtle backstories. The year was 2081 and everyone was
finally equal, (pg 1). All we know about time and place is in that sentence. We know the year, but we
learn more about the times later in the story. Well, the times as in society at that time. Hazel had a
perfectly average intelligence, which meant she couldn t think about anything except ... Show more

I have also shown that Harrison and Hazel Bergeron have amazing backstories. The story tells you
about the people, a dark world with no uniqueness and a brainwashed society, and that the year is
2081 but it doesn t mention a physical location. I reminded you Harrison is still a child and any of his
behavior that could be considered rude is just his fit of sadness and rage from a childhood of
suppression. Hazel had her child taken away from her when all she wanted to do was help those
closest to her. That s enough to crush anyone. This story is a family who got caught in the midst of a

Henry Ford Motor Company
Henry Ford incorporated Ford Motor Company on June 16, 1903 (H Staff, 2009). With 12 investors
and 1000 shares, the company had spent almost all of its $28,000 cash investment by the time it sold
the first Ford Model A on July 23, 1903 (F Staff, 2017). But by October 1, 1903, Ford had turned a
profit of $37,000 (F Staff, 2017). Henry Ford was able to increase production thus increasing profits
by inventing the first ever assembly line (H Staff, 2009). Ford operates in the stock market through the
consumer durables sector and is a part of the motor vehicle industry with a market cap of $42.4 billion

The Relationship Between Customer Satisfaction and Brand...
The Relationship between Customer Satisfaction and Brand Loyalty
Abstract
This study attempts to examine the impact of customer service (retail service quality and product
quality) on brand loyalty. It focuses on the particular aspects of customer service: personal interaction,
policy, reliability, and problem solving. Data will be collected through an in person survey and an on
line survey immediately following the purchase or visit to the store or website. Another survey will be
administered shortly after the customer obtains the product and has a chance to experience it. By
contributing to the overall knowledge of customer service and brand loyalty, this research adds

Scientific Research Design
The two types of investigation that would be needed is a field study interviewing customers
immediately after their visit to a retail establishment and an on line survey after the computer user
visited the website. In both surveys, questions regarding customer service will be asked. They would
inquire as to the details that pertained to their specific opinion of that day s retail service quality. The
service quality could be questioned immediately after the persons shopping experience; whether in
person as they exited the store or on line, which should help with their ease of recall. Questions would
pertain to reliability, problem solving, and their personal interaction, as well as the store policies.
Personal interaction would be determined by using a graded scale of the customer s perception of their
attitude, problem solving, and overall care by the sales professional.
For the on line shopper, the questionnaire would differ. It would ask the customer to grade the ease of
the transaction and the ability to maneuver throughout the website. The software would be graded
instead of a sales person. Policy would be determined by inquiring about attitudes of the consumer of
in store or on line payment methods, order timing and shipping methods, and the handling of special
orders. In both types of surveys, questions would be asked pertaining to their brand loyalty in the past.
The same graded scale would be used in

York University. (Bermudez, 2010) The Code of Ethics should reflect the policies, processes, and
controls of the organization it was written for. One of the most tempting things to do would be to copy
policies from another institution for the purposes of attempting to create a best practices document.
Unless doing so is a true reflection of the principle organizations business processes and practices the
Code will not efficiently create the protective shell nor will it help to inspire and direct the staff within
the organization. In Kyarimpa s book review of Svara James The Ethics Primer for Public
Administrators in Government and Nonprofit Organizations she points out the authors statement that
duty based ethics is inherent in public servants because they enter the profession motivated by a sense
of duty to serve. Attention to inclusion of that sense of servitude in the institution s mission, motto,
and Code of Ethics will do well to infuse that theme throughout the actions of day to day practices. At

Metaphors, Forms Of Human Communication And Erapeutic Uses
Metaphors, forms of symbolic language, have been used as teaching and healing tools in stories for
centuries, cite Mills and Crowley (2014). PTUK course book (2017) also cites that research by Levin
and Modell has proven that more brain cells light up in response to metaphor than any other form of
human communication forming new neural pathways. In this essay I will be looking at the theory
behind using a therapeutic story and relating it to my process of using one with my client. Sunderland
(2000) states that stories can be an important part of therapeutic tool kit, as a vehicle, through which a
child can process troubled feelings. Sunderland (2000) adds that children can often find it difficult to
put their feelings into words, as their natural communication method is through images and
metaphors. A therapeutic story can express those feelings in child s language and help the child to
build trust that her feelings are understood, which then will help the child to share her own feelings.
Sunderland (2002) also advises that there are four ways a therapeutic story can work; It can present
the child options that she can use when coming across an obstacle, it can present new ways and
solutions of dealing with problems that might have felt unsolvable, it can show ways of coping with
emotional problems, and it can provide options for new ways of being. Ericson (1991) cites that the
therapist should encourage learning through experience, as this is more beneficial than learning

Types And Symptoms Of Parkinson s Disease
Many people wonder how Parkinson s disease can affect people s lives. First, Parkinson s disease
(PD) is a neurological disorder which is made up of three types of PD that are not so different.
(Medifocus Guide Book on Parkinson s) These types of PD have many symptoms and can be hard to
control in everyday life. This is challenge that physically makes life harder. People with PD do
anything they can to help with their disorder.
To start, there isn t just one type of Parkinson s disease, but actually three. The first type of PD is
Adult Onset Parkinson s. People with this type are usually ages sixty and older. Parkinson can get
worse as a person gets to the seventies and eighties. (Medifocus) This is the most common type of
Parkinson s. It can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People classified under this type are ages twenty and below. There are not many people who can help
those with Juvenile PD because there are very few people with this case. (Juvenile Parkinson s) Some
people try deep brain stimulation (DBS) to help with this type of disease. If doing DBS works, you
can help one of the main symptoms, tremors, and make it almost unnoticeable. With all types of
Parkinson s, there are other symptoms that come with this disease too.
There are many symptoms when it comes to having Parkinson s disease. The first of the types are
motor symptoms. The most common, but major symptom of PD is dyskinesias or tremors. Tremors is
when you have little, uncontrollable movement in you body, such as in your arms, in your legs, and
even in your face. Also medicines such as MAO B inhibitors, COMT inhibitors, and others can cause
dyskinesias to get worse and put you in a not so good position. (Lazarus Motor)
Another motor symptom that comes with PD is speech. Ninety percent of people with Parkinson s
disease notice change in their speech. (Roberts) Also people with the speech symptom have quieter
voices. Sometimes this symptom can make someone s speech so bad, that they would have to get a
device that helps speak. (Roberts) Some devices are voice amplifiers and devices that actually speak

Drug Trafficking In Venezuela
Drug trafficking is a big global issue drugs are manufactured and then illegally distributed all over the
globe. The most common drugs being trafficked are cocaine and opiates, and they tend to originate
from South America and Asia. Back in 2016, the Spanish Guardia Civil began an international
investigation on a group they suspected was trafficking drugs in sailboats. The investigators were able
to intercept one of these sailboats and found a false bottom that had 400kg (around 880 lbs) of cocaine
hidden. Continuing the investigation, the team found that those sailboats were part of a bigger, two
part operation of drug trafficking and money laundering, which was being overseen by a Spaniard
hiding in Venezuela. The first part of the operation

The Inequality Between Men And Women
Throughout the history of mankind, women have not been in the workforce until recently. A woman s
place has mainly been at the home, until only about sixty years ago. Women would take care of the
children, cook, clean, care for the sick, and when needed, they would be extra labor around the farm.
Women first started to work in large numbers during the industrial revolution, mainly in the textile
industry. Since then, most women have gone into the workforce. Today a family cannot survive on the
wages of the man alone. However, even though women are needed to work, they still do not make as
much as men. There are still inequalities between men and women, and there is still a large wage gap.
Women today make about eighty cents on the dollar that a man makes. Some careers have a higher
wage gap, and the careers that are dominated mainly by women, like nursing, have a more equal wage
to men. The mortuary science field is not different than the other careers. Women are not currently
dominating this field, so they are not paid as much as men are. Women have faced bias through
history, and women in the mortuary science field still face it today. There are many different reasons
bias remains in this industry. One reason is that women are thought of as not being strong enough to
physically lift the dead. However, women can be as strong as any man, and if not they will find a way
to complete the job. Another reason there is bia, is because women are thought of as emotional. With

Traditional Medicine And Complementary And Alternative...
The World Health Organization has defined three types of health systems to describe the degree to
which traditional medicine/complementary and alternative medicine is an officially recognized
element of health care. In an integrative system, TM/CAM [traditional medicine/complementary and
alternative medicine] is officially recognized and incorporated into all areas of health care provision....
An inclusive system recognizes TM/CAM, but has not yet fully integrated it into all aspects of health
care, be this health care delivery, education and training, or regulation.... With a tolerant system, the
national health care system is based entirely on allopathic medicine, but some TM/CAM practices are

While Western medicine has a strong scientific basis, Traditional Chinese Medicine developed
gradually through China s long history, and is very strongly influenced by Taoist beliefs. For example,
in TCM there are twelve major organs, six yin and six yang . Each of these organs are then associated
with one of the Five Elements, water, wood, fire, earth, and metal. For a Chinese medicinal
practitioner, a disease would be caused by an imbalance of these twelve organs, and would say
something like, too much Fire in the Lungs as a problem of imbalance. Straightforward interactions
between doctor and patient would thus be more common in TCM in order to identify where the
imbalance arose through life choices and the environment. The doctor is not limited to treating only
physical illnesses, but also illnesses of the mind. The symptoms and differentiating the issue would
arise during this step of communication with the patient, which is bolstered by examining the patient s
qi. A fundamental of TCM is qi , which includes Yin and Yang, as qi is believed to be spiritual energy
and is a part of all movement, such like the flow of the cosmos (Kaptchuk). Qi itself can be divided
into many different categories, with Meridian qi being the most important for medicine. TCM views
the body as a collective whole where qi flows through body, with an imbalance of qi leading to the
disease in question. The more fixed or chronic the condition, the more

The United States Tax System
Past Influences, the United States Tax System
The Power of Tax
Franklin D Roosevelt once said Taxes, after all, are dues that we pay for the privileges of membership
in an organized society . Though the word, tax, itself has so much power the basic definition is to
asses a fee against a citizen person, property, or activity for the support of the government (Tax, n.d. ,
para. 2). Just mentioning taxes as a headliner on a newscast will draw the public in to listen to the
news. The word is unescapable since as citizens of the United States taxes are paid on almost all
earned income and on the majority of goods or services purchased. In order for the federal government

14). Over the years no internal revenues were collected, hence to raise money for war Congress would
raise excise taxes, custom duties, and issue Treasury notes (History of the US Tax, 2003, para. 14).
Civil War Influence Initially few taxes did exist in the United States, however it was not until 1862,
and Congress enacted the nation s first income tax law (Brief History of IRS). During this time period
the nation was going through the Civil War, and in order to support the war Congress established the
office of Commissioner of the Internal Revenue (History of Income Tax). The Commissioner of 1862
still has the same obligations, thus the power to collect taxes, levy, seize property, assess, and enforce
tax laws. Throughout the Civil War any person earning from $600 to $10,000 per year paid tax at the
rate of three percent, while people that earned more than $10,000 paid a higher rate of five percent
(History of Income Tax).Although the people who earned more were taxed at a higher rate in the
course of time, a standard deduction of $600 was also enacted for rental housing, repairs, losses, and
other taxes paid (History of the US Tax, 2003, para. 14). With the end of the Civil War, the necessity
for the additional tax revenue began to diminish as well as public support of the individual income tax

The Endocrinology Of Male And Female Reproduction
Reproductive physiology is comprised of many tightly coordinated functions of the endocrine system
including the hypothalamus, pituitary and reproductive organs whose dynamic function plays several
critical roles in growth and development as well was reproduction. The hypothalamic pituitary
gonadal axis plays a critical role in the development and regulation of the reproductive system. These
tightly regulated functions within the pituitary must respond to continuously changing signals from the
central nervous system gonads and provide the quick responses. The hypothalamic pituitary gonadal
axis is comprised of major hormones, including gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH), luteinizing
hormone (LH) and follicular stimulating hormone (FSH) and operate through both positive and
negative feedback loops in mammals.1 When toxicants affect any part of this axis s function, either by
altering cellular activity or the signals themselves, the physiology can impacted by immediate and
downstream effects. An understanding of the endocrinology of male and female reproduction, is
required to understand how toxicological effects can have severe consequences on reproductive
physiology.
GnRH is a prominent reproductive hormone that is produced in neural cells in the hypothalamus.
GnRH is secreted into the bloodstream where it is carried downstream to the pituitary gland and
activates the Gonadotropin Releasing hormone receptor. 2 Once these cells are activated, signal

During rush week, I was required to talk to potential new members for my fraternity. I had many

In our main conversation, we discussed about how he wanted to be a part of a bigger idea and

Original Interpretations Of Experimental Results Regarding...
Original interpretations of experimental results regarding brain function
Throughout the most recent decade, numerous studies and research have been produced on measure
diverse parts for disposition into equine brain function that can contribute to stereotypical behaviour.
It could be said that a horse s demeanor might possibly determine its achievement in a particular
discipline or given type of work (Mills, 1998) since it is the mixture of a winning temperament and the
phenomenal physical abilities that makes it an winning competitor (Visser et al, 2001).
This will be the reason people throughout history have searched for horses with certain characteristics
that could determine temperament and the ability for the suitableness of their intended use (Mills,
1998).
Therefore, temperament aspects have additionally been an objective when reproducing for ability and
sport purposes (Morris et al, 2002). To expand the predominance of preferred temperament and
character aspects in the horse population, it could be said that it could be used as a reproduction target.
Modern Training Techniques
Horses who are in training are more prone to developing ulcers Malmkuist et al., 2012, suggested that
stress induced the relinquishment of endogerious cortisol thus incrementing the jeopardy of ulceration.
Low forage diets often leave the horse with empty stomachs, thus exposing the horse to
gastrointestinal quandaries. The pH in the digestive system decreases through lack of

The Role Of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome ( Pcos )
EPIDEMIOLOGY
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine disorder that affects 4% to 12% of
women of childbearing age.1 The proportion of individuals in a population with PCOS depends on the
diagnostic criteria.2 According to the criteria implemented by the European Society for Human
Reproduction and Embryology/American Society for Reproductive Medicine, PCOS is as great as
15% to 20%.2 As stated in The National Institute of Health Office of Disease Prevention Report,
PCOS impacts about 5 million females of reproductive age in United States.3 The identification and

ETIOLOGY AND PATHOPHYSIOLOGY
PCOS is an oligogenic disorder that has a heritable factor of approximately 70%.3 Both genetic and
environmental factors contribute to the phenotype of the disease.4 The pathophysiology of PCOS
consists of defects in the hypothalamic pituitary axis, secretion of insulin and the function of the
ovary.3 Although, the cause of PCOS is an on going topic of research, it has been linked to insulin
resistance and elevated androgen levels that contribute to hormonal imbalance.4 It is estimated that
60% 80% of women with PCOS, show insulin resistance and this percentage increases to 95% of
women who are obese.8 Insulin resistance is a cause as well as an exacerbating factor for the
development of PCOS.3 Insulin resistance contributes to metabolic disturbances, obesity and type 2
diabetes, as well as increased androgens, cardiovascular risks and anovulation.1
Insulin aids in regulation of ovarian function and overproduction of insulin causes the ovaries to
produce high amounts of androgens.9 High levels of gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH)
stimulate the ovarian thecal cells to produce a greater amount of androgens such as 17
hydroprogesterone, testosterone and progesterone.9 Furthermore, thecal cells contain a higher level of
cytochrome P450 11A, CYP17 and 3 HSD2 genes.9 Increased androgens stimulate visceral adipose

A Survivor Of Human Trafficking Essay
Out of the thousands of people that have been human trafficking victims each year, only an
insignificant amount of them is actually reported. Imagine being in 8th grade. Having all sorts of
hopes and dreams. Now flash forward to dreams being taken away by a pimp that lures people into
human trafficking. In short, this is true for Holly Austin Smith, a survivor of human trafficking. The
punishment for the pimps that ruin the lives of these young girls is not severe. Therefore, there is not
much help for the girls after they get rescued from this tragedy. A realization Holly had soon on and
explains, ...Although I was soon recognized to be a victim, the specialized aftercare needed for a

This pimp, who raped and lured a child into prostitution, served only 365 days in jail (Smith). This
young girl had recovered from this horrible incident all by herself. Many other girls in her position
have gone through similar experiences and have been hurt by their pimp. In addition, the pimp will not
receive much punishment. A sad story repeated across America and is very prominent in other
countries. In America, most of the time victims are the ones that usually serve time in jail since in
some cases it s considered prostitution, even if it was forced by the pimp. In most cases, the pimps

Bruce Irigaray Research Paper
Luce Irigaray s philosophy focuses on women s identities and the symbolic order. In relation to
women s spirituality, Irigaray recognizes that women cannot become divine women as theorized
through her framework of the mirror and how one s god is imagined in relation to one s own identity
(67). In addition, women and their relation to the media is tied to spirituality and Irigary s philosophy
through normative injunctions surrounding beauty and divinity. As well, women s literature, poetry,
and short stories are essential in dismantling phallocentric language within the existing symbolic
order. Women and the media and women writers exemplify Irigaray s theories that women s identities
are based on men s ontological certainty through a male ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firstly, in Brandt s poem missionary position (2), she writes there was a great crashing in my / ears the
day God became man the / last heavy link of the great command / came tumbling to earth i became
my / own mother (29). This connects to Irigaray s ideas that because man is separate as a gender to
women, he and God are not defined by the female. Moreover, because there is no woman God, women
s connection to the infinite is tied to the virgin mother and that she can only become divine through
her son s inherent perfection (Medd, March 20). Furthermore, Sawai s short story, The Day I Sat with
Jesus on the Sun Deck and a Wind Came Up and Blew My Kimono Open and He Saw My Breasts,
explores the imagination and what is seen to be impossible in the world as a possibility in a fictive
text. That is, words have multiple meanings and truths (Medd, March 24). Irigaray discusses how the
imaginary stage is essential in how women define experiences. While the symbolic stage the law of
the father centres male embodied experiences into language, the imaginary stage emphasizes the body
and experimenting with the impossible (Medd, March 17). As well, this narrative redefines the self
within the existing symbolic order, adding a shock factor with the beliefs that we have internalized
(Medd, March 27). For example, Sawai writes Jesus with sexually charged imagery and with
intertextuality of Christian verses, such as He kissed me on my mouth. Then He flicked my nipple
with His finger (31). This shock, utilized with other literary techniques, demonstrates that Irigaray s
ideas of the symbolic order and the imaginary stage are crucial in order for women writers to project
their identities and

Interpersonal Communication, Intercultural Communication...
You know that feeling of home whether it s with family members or even your loved ones? I don t
think that home is something that is automatically there, I believe that it is something that s created. I
learned that lesson through the eyes of one of my older friends who came from India with his brother
when he was 16 in order to make a living. My friend Vikas, told me everything he had to do and the
struggles he conquered in order to make his own successful business here in the U.S. Some things he
told be reminded me of interpersonal communication, intercultural communication, and intracultural
communication. He had to have a lot of communication with his friend who also happened to be from
India and some new friends and colleagues he met through his journey. Of course there was
homesickness and the occasional depression, but that didn t stop him from creating his now successful
business. The reason he came to America was that he wasn t financially stable over there back home. I
was so desperate and determined to get out of my own country, my own home, in order to make a
better life for me. Those words kept replaying in my head, but home was the words that made me
think deeply. He had to leave all of that, all his family, his own haven, in order to make a better living.
I could interpret all of that because of our interpersonal communication. I could actually feel his pain

Mabo Case
Legal studies Law Reform
Legal studies Law Reform
The Australian Legal System response to the Mabo case has changed greatly ever since the first time it
was introduced. Many different acts were introduced and/or amended as a result of this case. The
effectiveness of the law and the law reform in protecting the rights of individual and society at large is
demonstrated throughout this essay.
Eddie Koiki Mabo was born on Murray Island in 1936 and was an Indigenous Australian. In 1974,
during a conversation with two academics, Mabo became aware to the fact that his family did not own
their traditional lands and that it was, in law, owned by the Crown. The Queensland Government
wanted to remove any doubt that the Meriam people had total ... Show more content on

The Mabo decision ended the idea of terra nullius in relation to Australia, when it recognised the
Meriam people as the owners of the Murray Islands. It also opened the door for other Indigenous
groups to be able to claim ownership of land that they could prove a continuous connection with.
Unfortunately Eddie Mabo had died of cancer in February 1992, just 4 months before this historic
high court ruling that would change Australian land law. The judgement was so historic because it
completely overturned the idea of terra nullius and said that native title survived in many places, even
though the land had been taken by the Crown. With Terra Nullius distinguished, it proved the point
that Murray Islands first inhabitants were in fact the Meriam people.
With the Mabo case being successful many other cases came about for example Wik Peoples v. The
State of Queensland (also known as the Wik Decision). It is a decision of the High Court of Australia
in December 1996, regarding the right of access by the Wik peoples of Cape York Peninsula in North
Queensland to Crown land held under pastoral leases for cattle grazing. The court decided (4 judges to
3) that the rights of indigenous people who can prove a connection to the land can coexist with the
rights of the pastoralists, but where there is any inconsistency between the two, the rights of the
pastoralist will prevail. In other words, pastoral leases do not automatically

The Lobbyist Group
In general, a lobbyist group is a sort of effective network system that consists from paid professionals
and also volunteers, with efforts in persuasion the legislators to produce and support policies that the
lobbyist groups interested. All American institutions can be represented by a lobbyist, such as
Pharmaceuticals, insurance, air transport, health professionals, and others. To reach the goals of the
interest group and lobbyist in persuasion in reforming policies, billions of dollars need to be spent by
them. According to the Lobbying Disclosure Act, the money that paid for lobbying needs to be
registered with the Secretary of the Senate and the Clerk of the House. Health care lobbying is one of
the big lobbyists in the United States, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On another hand, the American Medical Association (AMA) is the largest group in U.S. that includes
physician and medical professionals. Regardless of any industrial lobbyists, AMA group is ranks
number 5 in the amount of money spending. As the group is composed of health care professionals, it
is obvious the huge impact of its efforts on the life of population. Although AMA group was supported
the Affordable Care Act in 2010, they again support the new bill which cut the federal financial
support of millions of Americans. Unfortunately, the group representing the medical field interest as
type of business with its money earning level, not the patient interest with affordable services. They
support free health market, not the single payer system, the suggestion of deceasing the federal finance
support of Medicaid program will have severe health impact on millions of low income families in the
country (Terry, 2017). Finally, the American Hospital Association is another large lobbyist in the
country that represents more than 5000 hospitals, healthcare systems, networks, and other care
providers. Looking on the same previous example, AHA is one of the big fighters against the new
Affordable Care Act partial reform law. As one of the largest hospital industry representatives, such
new law which results in millions of people losing their health coverage will certainly lead to harm the
financial stability of them (Dickson,

Terrorism Between Iraq And The United States Essay
After the gulf wars, a ceasefire was negotiated between the United Nations coalition and Iraq. During
the ceasefire, the United Nations became aware that Iraq had started a biological warfare program in
the 1980s, as well as a chemical warfare program. Upon further investigation, they found that these
programs had not continued after the war. As a result, the United States main focus moving forward
was the removal of the Saddam regime, their official foreign policy for years to come focused on this
goal. With the suspicions that Saddam Hussein had the abilities to acquire weapons of mass
destruction, the Bush administration going as far as to claim he already had them, the United States
and other countries began devising a plan of action. These countries strongly believed that Iraq was a
treat to its neighbors and the rest of the world, and that the only solution was to invade Iraq. The
United States invading Iraq in 2003 was a turning point in the reason why relationship between Iraq
and the United States is the way it is today.
In August of 2002, the Bush administration s position about Iraq had changed significantly. Prior to
this point, the United States and other western countries had been arming Iraq with weapons of every
type. The fact the United States and other countries had been arming Iraq with weapons, shows how
little they considered Iraq to be a threat. This quickly changed. A debate on invading Iraq, held by the
Senate Foreign Relations Committee, created

Blame For Measure, By William Shakespeare
The great Shakespeare once again presents a play of mystery, confusion, multiple weddings, and
death. Measure for Measure is another great example of the literary tools that are often used by
Shakespeare. In this play, great issues arise quickly after Claudio impregnates Juliet consensually. Of
course, the chaos did not occur until after the Duke decided to leave town and leave Angelo in charge,
as a tactic to regain strict law throughout the city. Power hungry Angelo does everything he can to
punish and use Claudio as an example to the rest of the town as to why following law is highly
important. Claudio s sister and the disguised duke come up with a plan to circumvent the ruling of
Angelo and eventually use his previous actions as blackmail. This play takes constant turns left and
right as different characters take charge of the happenings of Claudio. In the end, the duke reclaims his
chair of power and Claudio is pardoned, all because of the chance of fate. Many critics have read this
play and analyzed it for deeper meanings. One of the deepest meanings has come directly from the
play title itself. Measure for Measure by Shakespeare is named as so because of the punishment for
crimes, the measure or treatment of women, and the measure of the character s actions. Measure for
Measure by Shakespeare is titled as such because of the punishment for crimes. This first reason that
the title is named as it is can also be described as every action has a reaction. Every crime

Essay on Organization and Management of Panera Bread
Organization and Management of Panera Bread The formation of Panera Bread began in 1978 when
Louis Kane bought Au Bon Pain, a retail producer of baked goods. Kane changed it to a wholesale
business by opening two cafes and staffing them with bakers and employees, but high production
costs made it impossible to cover his overhead. In 1981 Kane decided to remain responsible for site
selection and financing, but he chose Robert Shaich to help turn the company around as President of
internal operations ( Au Bon Pain History ). First, Shaich assembled a team to simplify the costly
bread making process by developing a method of forming and freezing bread dough for later baking.

In addition, they installed a database management system for store managers and corporate executives
to monitor day to day operations, launched a catering department, and expanded internationally by
adding franchises to their organizational structure (Thompson C 169). Shaich used franchises to
stimulate growth by requiring qualified outside investors to open and manage at least 15 franchised
cafes in a six year period under the company name (Franchise Information). Another organizational
crisis arose in 1995 when efforts to expand the Saint Louis Bread chain in order to increase brand
awareness backfired as consumers favored Saint Louis Bread over its parent company. To solve this
conflict, new divisional presidents were created for each chain, and in 1999 Shaich convinced the
board of directors to sell all the Au Bon Pain cafes and restructure the Saint Louis Bread chain under
the name Panera Bread. Panera s current organizational structure utilizes vertical integration, with 17
fresh dough facilities that deliver to 1,591 cafes and franchises ( Our History ). Upper level managers
now make menu and pricing decisions and overlook the marketing, franchise, concept development,
legal, technology, supply chain, and human resource departments ( Organizational Chart ). Lower

Dance Salsa Theory
It was interesting seems people come together and dance different music. I heard playing salsa and
tango music. I have watched movies about tango, but watching normal people dancing tango was
shocking. I was very impressed with an older couple dancing tango. They were dancing and at the
same time they were connecting with each other. They looked like a regular boring couple, but
dancing tango they look like they were intimate with each other. They did the basic steps, but they
were swinging around together at the same time. It was really good. In my part, I wanted to dance
salsa because I was raised dancing salsa, but for some reason I could not dance salsa because I was
thinking about the steps. My theory was to enjoy the music and dance to

Stakeholder for Staples
Introduction Stakeholders are individuals and constituencies that contribute, either voluntarily or
involuntarily, to its wealth creating capacity and activities, and who are therefore its potential
beneficiaries and/or risk bearers1. There are several different types of stakeholders associated with a
corporation, and those stakeholders can have different views and opinions on what corporation s goals
should be and how they should be running. I have interviewed three different stakeholders of Staples
Inc., an employee, a customer and a stock holder, to find their relationship between them and the firm.
Then, I will use this information to suggest how the firm should proceed and continue to have a better

Another question was whether or not they thought that the Staples Soul program was a good idea or
not. Again the customer and the employee had agreed that it was a good idea, but it was not important
to them. In fact Ms. Lam had stated that I don t really mind. Although I think that they should work on
their customer relations a little more. Mr. Esteves, the stockholder, found this program important due
to the fact that since it was instituted the stocks of Staples Inc. have been going up. Although all three
agree it is not a bad idea, Ms. Lam and Mr. Forgione do not find this type of program important to
them at all. The fact that they do not find this program of no importance is because it has absolutely no
affect on the customer or the employee stakeholders. The benefits of this program do not directly
impact a majority of its employees or its customers. It appears that the relationship between Staples
and its employee and customer stakeholders is a straight give take relationship, through the
perspective of the stakeholders. Ms. Lam, in answering about what type of relationship she had with
Staples said, I need supplies, they need money. They take my money, I take their supplies. While Mr.
Forgione stated, The only thing Staples has done for me is provide me with a paycheck every week
and some benefits. Next, I asked all three stakeholders to order which

Rights of Women in the Nineteenth Century and in Henrik...
Henrik Ibsen, who was born in Norway but made his name internationally, was a painter as well as the
one of most famous playwrights during the period of Realism. Ibsen s plays are well known by the
themes of domestic and political issues and conflict in nineteenth century. Scholars call it Ibsen s

discussed are hypocrisy of the society, restriction of women, and the self sacrifice.
Under the influence of Industrial Revolution, the conflict between classes and the struggle among
workers were becoming more and more intense, especially among women. By responding to French

Second, Even though the women in the nineteenth century were expected to self sacrifice to their

Pamela Meyer Ted Talk
The results of the quiz that I took prior to watching the video on TED Talks by Pamela Meyer were
11/17, or 65% (Meyer, 2010). I am not surprised by the results, as I tend to accept people at face
value. I make a conscious effort to be honest almost to a fault (resulting in not many friends), so I
expect that same behavior from others that I encounter regularly. For a literal person such as myself,
this means that I have much to learn about human behavior and patterns. This quiz result would tend
to make me believe that I am gullible, and will believe anything that is told to me.

The parasympathetic nervous system is associated with routine, day to day operations of the body,
while the sympathetic nervous system is involved in stress related activities and functions.
(Psychology, P. 88) How this may be related to lying: The body undergoes physiological changes
when one is lying, such as blood pressure changing, heart rate, dry mouth, respiration, perspiration
and skin conductivity, muscle contractions, dilated pupils (arousal theory). But research reveals that
some people can remain calm even when telling a lie.
According to Pamela Meyer (01:46), Not all lies are harmful when we feel that the truth may hurt. The
primary forms of lying are lying by commission, when you intentionally tell an untruth to somebody.
The other form is lying by omission , or just not telling the whole story. A perfect example of this is
when a wife asks the husband did you stop off in Laughlin? The response from the husband may be
No, I did NOT , which is the truth, but he neglects to tell his wife that a certain casino is not officially
in the Laughlin city limits, it is on reservation land. So yes, he did go gambling, which is what she
really should have asked, but he didn t do his gambling in Laughlin. Some people consider this type of
lying harmless, while the person being lied to may have a different opinion. So, who is being hurt
more? The person doing the lying, or the person being lied

Operation Of Operation Eagle Claw
Many American hostage lives were on the line with just one military operation to save and bring them
home. Yet, the failure of Operation Eagle Claw brought death to military personnel and shame to
America. Operation Eagle Claw was a mission to end the hostage crisis in Iran which was in a
political upraise against the United States. The planning of Operation Eagle Claw was too complex
and planners over looked the military aviation doctrine to hastily get the hostages to safety. Operation
Eagle Claw s failure was due to prolonged American evacuation from Iran which led to a hasty
complex plan that did not keep aviation doctrine in consideration which helped us learn how we need
to rethink and conduct large scale military aviation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For days, military flights brought thousands of Americans out of Iran and into safe countries until on
February 10th 1979, Iranians closed the Mehrahad Airport putting a halt on the evacuation of
Americans. In response, the Joint Chiefs of Staff were planning and organizing a rescue and support
mission to the U.S. Embassy in Iran. Before the rescue and evacuation mission could begin, armed
Iranians took over the U.S. Embassy in Tehran and took 102 Americans hostage. Khomeini security
returned the hostages and embassy while also getting the airport to be reopened.2 On November 4th
1979, Iranian revolutionary students stormed the U.S. Embassy in Teheran and took 52 Americans and
some military personnel hostage. The students would only release the hostages if America would hand
over the Shah to receive trial and most likely execution along with no more interfering in Iranian
affairs.3 Many rescue mission attempts, blocking resources, and compromising with Iran gave little to
no hope to retrieve the hostages and bring piece. Under enormous political pressure, on November

Of Gods And Romans Essay
Of Gods and Romans
The Romans during the time of their Republic relied on their advanced technology, social structure,
leadership and politics to achieve as much as they did. To these people, their gods affected all of these
factors and the relationships mankind had with them. The contractual relationship between mankind
and the gods involved each party in giving, and in return receiving services. The Romans believed that
spirits residing in natural and physical objects had the power to control the processes of nature, and
that man could influence these processes by symbolic action. The first is a primitive form of religious
creed; the second a type of magic.
The services by which the Romans hoped to influence the forces that guided ... Show more content on

Any unintentional deviation from the prescribed ritual meant not only a new sacrifice, but also an
additional one to absolve the error. In high occasions, on which a replay of the entire ceremony might
be an embarrassment, a sacrifice was performed as a matter of course on the pervious day, to cover for
any potential errors during the main ceremony. Multiple sacrifices were commonplace: the word
hecatomb, which derives from the Greek, means the sacrifice of a hundred head of oxen.
There was a distinction between signs that were solicited and those that appeared without invitation.
At many times, an individual would see an omen that gave him/her confidence to continue a current
course of action (52) other incidences produced warnings to change one s itinerary (55, 74 75). The
more startling or unexpected the sign, for instance a sudden flash of lightning or an epileptic fit on the
part of a member of an assembly, the more seriously it was taken. It was not unknown for an interested
party to throw a feigned fit in order to obstruct proceedings. Lightning which appeared while auspices
were being taken was good news, but not so if it came otherwise. Certain omens such as scorpions
fighting (55), sacrificing an animal that does not appear to have a heart (303), or bizarre natural
occurrences (74 75) were signs of disaster. The gods also produced omens through the actions of men.

After being interrogated he admitted to only wanting to rob the house but the mother and the two kids had awoken and he killed them to protect himself from getting arrested. People often question how somebody so young could such a terrifying act but researches how found a couple of theories that could be the possible reason for this chaos. The theories of delinquent life course pretty much is the backbone of many other more specific theories in the studying of juvenile delinquency. Next in the book is the latent trait theory, which explains the flow of delinquency over a lifetime. Finally the third theory is a mix of latent trait and life course theory which states there is more then one path to crime and more than one class of offenders. The chapter starts of with life course theory, which tends to show how every person related experience can effect a child s future behavior. • 3. Harrison Bergeron Summary The story Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. is about a couple in the year 2081. In 2081 the government wants everyone to be equal so they hand out handicaps to people with good looks, vision, strength, brains, and other talents. The couple, Hazel and George Bergeron, are watching dancers on tv when an announcer comes on. He says a person named Harrison Bergeron has escaped prison. Then they hear a thud and see a figure matching Harrison s description at the door. He goes up to the stage, rips off his handicaps, and asks one of the dancers to volunteer to be his Empress. When one comes up he takes off her handicaps and they begin to dance. They start to float till they kiss the ceiling. The doors burst open and in walks the Handicapper General. She pulls out a gun and shoots them both. I m going to prove that the setting of this story needs more detail and that the characters, specifically Harrison and Hazel Bergeron, have nice subtle backstories. The year was 2081 and everyone was finally equal, (pg 1). All we know about time and place is in that sentence. We know the year, but we learn more about the times later in the story. Well, the times as in society at that time. Hazel had a perfectly average intelligence, which meant she couldn t think about anything except ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have also shown that Harrison and Hazel Bergeron have amazing backstories. The story tells you about the people, a dark world with no uniqueness and a brainwashed society, and that the year is 2081 but it doesn t mention a physical location. I reminded you Harrison is still a child and any of his behavior that could be considered rude is just his fit of sadness and rage from a childhood of suppression. Hazel had her child taken away from her when all she wanted to do was help those closest to her. That s enough to crush anyone. This story is a family who got caught in the midst of a government ... But by October 1, 1903, Ford had turned a profit of $37,000 (F Staff, 2017). Henry Ford was able to increase production thus increasing profits by inventing the first ever assembly line (H Staff, 2009). Ford operates in the stock market through the consumer durables sector and is a part of the motor vehicle industry with a market cap of $42.4 billion (FT Staff, 2017). At the same time, transformation of lackluster parts of its business (small cars, luxury vehicles, etc.) is extremely crucial to the overall success of their company (Ford, 2016). The Relationship between Customer Satisfaction and Brand Loyalty Abstract This study attempts to examine the impact of customer service (retail service quality and product quality) on brand loyalty. It focuses on the particular aspects of customer service: personal interaction, policy, reliability, and problem solving. Data will be collected through an in person survey and an on line survey immediately following the purchase or visit to the store or website. Another survey will be administered shortly after the customer obtains the product and has a chance to experience it. By contributing to the overall knowledge of customer service and brand loyalty, this research adds significant, valuable information on marketing to customers in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Scientific Research Design The two types of investigation that would be needed is a field study interviewing customers immediately after their visit to a retail establishment and an on line survey after the computer user visited the website. In both surveys, questions regarding customer service will be asked. They would inquire as to the details that pertained to their specific opinion of that day s retail service quality. The service quality could be questioned immediately after the persons shopping experience; whether in person as they exited the store or on line, which should help with their ease of recall. Questions would pertain to reliability, problem solving, and their personal interaction, as well as the store policies. Personal interaction would be determined by using a graded scale of the customer s perception of their attitude, problem solving, and overall care by the sales professional. For the on line shopper, the questionnaire would differ. It would ask the customer to grade the ease of the transaction and the ability to maneuver throughout the website. The software would be graded instead of a sales person. Policy would be determined by inquiring about attitudes of the consumer of in store or on line payment methods, order timing and shipping methods, and the handling of special orders. In both types of surveys, questions would be asked pertaining to their brand loyalty in the past. The same graded scale would be used in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Important Ingredients in the Code of Ethics Every nonprofit organization should develop its own code of ethics, writes Doug White, academic director at the George H. (Bermudez, 2010) The Code of Ethics should reflect the policies, processes, and controls of the organization it was written for. One of the most tempting things to do would be to copy policies from another institution for the purposes of attempting to create a best practices document. Unless doing so is a true reflection of the principle organizations business processes and practices the Code will not efficiently create the protective shell nor will it help to inspire and direct the staff within the organization. In Kyarimpa s book review of Svara James The Ethics Primer for Public Administrators in Government and Nonprofit Organizations she points out the authors statement that duty based ethics is inherent in public servants because they enter the profession motivated by a sense of duty to serve. • 8. Metaphors, Forms Of Human Communication And Erapeutic Uses Metaphors, forms of symbolic language, have been used as teaching and healing tools in stories for centuries, cite Mills and Crowley (2014). PTUK course book (2017) also cites that research by Levin and Modell has proven that more brain cells light up in response to metaphor than any other form of human communication forming new neural pathways. In this essay I will be looking at the theory behind using a therapeutic story and relating it to my process of using one with my client. Sunderland (2000) states that stories can be an important part of therapeutic tool kit, as a vehicle, through which a child can process troubled feelings. Sunderland (2000) adds that children can often find it difficult to put their feelings into words, as their natural communication method is through images and metaphors. A therapeutic story can express those feelings in child s language and help the child to build trust that her feelings are understood, which then will help the child to share her own feelings. Sunderland (2002) also advises that there are four ways a therapeutic story can work; It can present the child options that she can use when coming across an obstacle, it can present new ways and solutions of dealing with problems that might have felt unsolvable, it can show ways of coping with emotional problems, and it can provide options for new ways of being. Ericson (1991) cites that the therapist should encourage learning through experience, as this is more beneficial than learning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If doing DBS works, you can help one of the main symptoms, tremors, and make it almost unnoticeable. With all types of Parkinson s, there are other symptoms that come with this disease too. There are many symptoms when it comes to having Parkinson s disease. The first of the types are motor symptoms. The most common, but major symptom of PD is dyskinesias or tremors. Tremors is when you have little, uncontrollable movement in you body, such as in your arms, in your legs, and even in your face. Also medicines such as MAO B inhibitors, COMT inhibitors, and others can cause dyskinesias to get worse and put you in a not so good position. (Lazarus Motor) Another motor symptom that comes with PD is speech. Ninety percent of people with Parkinson s disease notice change in their speech. The most common drugs being trafficked are cocaine and opiates, and they tend to originate from South America and Asia. Back in 2016, the Spanish Guardia Civil began an international investigation on a group they suspected was trafficking drugs in sailboats. The investigators were able to intercept one of these sailboats and found a false bottom that had 400kg (around 880 lbs) of cocaine hidden. Continuing the investigation, the team found that those sailboats were part of a bigger, two part operation of drug trafficking and money laundering, which was being overseen by a Spaniard hiding in Venezuela. • 11. The Inequality Between Men And Women Throughout the history of mankind, women have not been in the workforce until recently. A woman s place has mainly been at the home, until only about sixty years ago. Women would take care of the children, cook, clean, care for the sick, and when needed, they would be extra labor around the farm. Women first started to work in large numbers during the industrial revolution, mainly in the textile industry. Since then, most women have gone into the workforce. Today a family cannot survive on the wages of the man alone. However, even though women are needed to work, they still do not make as much as men. There are still inequalities between men and women, and there is still a large wage gap. Women today make about eighty cents on the dollar that a man makes. Some careers have a higher wage gap, and the careers that are dominated mainly by women, like nursing, have a more equal wage to men. The mortuary science field is not different than the other careers. Women are not currently dominating this field, so they are not paid as much as men are. Women have faced bias through history, and women in the mortuary science field still face it today. There are many different reasons bias remains in this industry. One reason is that women are thought of as not being strong enough to physically lift the dead. However, women can be as strong as any man, and if not they will find a way to complete the job. Another reason there is bia, is because women are thought of as emotional. With ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While Western medicine has a strong scientific basis, Traditional Chinese Medicine developed gradually through China s long history, and is very strongly influenced by Taoist beliefs. For example, in TCM there are twelve major organs, six yin and six yang . Each of these organs are then associated with one of the Five Elements, water, wood, fire, earth, and metal. For a Chinese medicinal practitioner, a disease would be caused by an imbalance of these twelve organs, and would say something like, too much Fire in the Lungs as a problem of imbalance. Straightforward interactions between doctor and patient would thus be more common in TCM in order to identify where the imbalance arose through life choices and the environment. The doctor is not limited to treating only physical illnesses, but also illnesses of the mind. The symptoms and differentiating the issue would arise during this step of communication with the patient, which is bolstered by examining the patient s qi. A fundamental of TCM is qi , which includes Yin and Yang, as qi is believed to be spiritual energy and is a part of all movement, such like the flow of the cosmos (Kaptchuk). Qi itself can be divided into many different categories, with Meridian qi being the most important for medicine. The Endocrinology Of Male And Female Reproduction Reproductive physiology is comprised of many tightly coordinated functions of the endocrine system including the hypothalamus, pituitary and reproductive organs whose dynamic function plays several critical roles in growth and development as well was reproduction. The hypothalamic pituitary gonadal axis plays a critical role in the development and regulation of the reproductive system. These tightly regulated functions within the pituitary must respond to continuously changing signals from the central nervous system gonads and provide the quick responses. The hypothalamic pituitary gonadal axis is comprised of major hormones, including gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH), luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicular stimulating hormone (FSH) and operate through both positive and negative feedback loops in mammals.1 When toxicants affect any part of this axis s function, either by altering cellular activity or the signals themselves, the physiology can impacted by immediate and downstream effects. An understanding of the endocrinology of male and female reproduction, is required to understand how toxicological effects can have severe consequences on reproductive physiology. GnRH is a prominent reproductive hormone that is produced in neural cells in the hypothalamus. GnRH is secreted into the bloodstream where it is carried downstream to the pituitary gland and activates the Gonadotropin Releasing hormone receptor. 2 Once these cells are activated, signal transduction ... In addition, women and their relation to the media is tied to spirituality and Irigary s philosophy through normative injunctions surrounding beauty and divinity. Firstly, in Brandt s poem missionary position (2), she writes there was a great crashing in my / ears the day God became man the / last heavy link of the great command / came tumbling to earth i became my / own mother (29). This connects to Irigaray s ideas that because man is separate as a gender to women, he and God are not defined by the female. Moreover, because there is no woman God, women s connection to the infinite is tied to the virgin mother and that she can only become divine through her son s inherent perfection (Medd, March 20). Furthermore, Sawai s short story, The Day I Sat with Jesus on the Sun Deck and a Wind Came Up and Blew My Kimono Open and He Saw My Breasts, explores the imagination and what is seen to be impossible in the world as a possibility in a fictive text. That is, words have multiple meanings and truths (Medd, March 24). Irigaray discusses how the imaginary stage is essential in how women define experiences. While the symbolic stage the law of the father centres male embodied experiences into language, the imaginary stage emphasizes the body and experimenting with the impossible (Medd, March 17). As well, this narrative redefines the self within the existing symbolic order, adding a shock factor with the beliefs that we have internalized (Medd, March 27). For example, Sawai writes Jesus with sexually charged imagery and with intertextuality of Christian verses, such as He kissed me on my mouth. Then He flicked my nipple with His finger (31). This shock, utilized with other literary techniques, demonstrates that Irigaray s ideas of the symbolic order and the imaginary stage are crucial in order for women writers to project their identities and ... Unfortunately Eddie Mabo had died of cancer in February 1992, just 4 months before this historic high court ruling that would change Australian land law. The judgement was so historic because it completely overturned the idea of terra nullius and said that native title survived in many places, even though the land had been taken by the Crown. During the ceasefire, the United Nations became aware that Iraq had started a biological warfare program in the 1980s, as well as a chemical warfare program. Upon further investigation, they found that these programs had not continued after the war. As a result, the United States main focus moving forward was the removal of the Saddam regime, their official foreign policy for years to come focused on this goal. Measure for Measure is another great example of the literary tools that are often used by Shakespeare. In this play, great issues arise quickly after Claudio impregnates Juliet consensually. Of course, the chaos did not occur until after the Duke decided to leave town and leave Angelo in charge, as a tactic to regain strict law throughout the city. Power hungry Angelo does everything he can to punish and use Claudio as an example to the rest of the town as to why following law is highly important. Claudio s sister and the disguised duke come up with a plan to circumvent the ruling of Angelo and eventually use his previous actions as blackmail. This play takes constant turns left and right as different characters take charge of the happenings of Claudio. In the end, the duke reclaims his chair of power and Claudio is pardoned, all because of the chance of fate. Many critics have read this play and analyzed it for deeper meanings. One of the deepest meanings has come directly from the play title itself. Measure for Measure by Shakespeare is named as so because of the punishment for crimes, the measure or treatment of women, and the measure of the character s actions. Stakeholder for Staples Introduction Stakeholders are individuals and constituencies that contribute, either voluntarily or involuntarily, to its wealth creating capacity and activities, and who are therefore its potential beneficiaries and/or risk bearers1. There are several different types of stakeholders associated with a corporation, and those stakeholders can have different views and opinions on what corporation s goals should be and how they should be running. I have interviewed three different stakeholders of Staples Inc., an employee, a customer and a stock holder, to find their relationship between them and the firm. Then, I will use this information to suggest how the firm should proceed and continue to have a better and more beneficial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another question was whether or not they thought that the Staples Soul program was a good idea or not. Again the customer and the employee had agreed that it was a good idea, but it was not important to them. In fact Ms. Lam had stated that I don t really mind. Although I think that they should work on their customer relations a little more. Mr. Esteves, the stockholder, found this program important due to the fact that since it was instituted the stocks of Staples Inc. have been going up. Although all three agree it is not a bad idea, Ms. Lam and Mr. Forgione do not find this type of program important to them at all. The fact that they do not find this program of no importance is because it has absolutely no affect on the customer or the employee stakeholders. The benefits of this program do not directly impact a majority of its employees or its customers. It appears that the relationship between Staples and its employee and customer stakeholders is a straight give take relationship, through the perspective of the stakeholders. Ms. Lam, in answering about what type of relationship she had with Staples said, I need supplies, they need money. They take my money, I take their supplies. While Mr. Forgione stated, The only thing Staples has done for me is provide me with a paycheck every week and some benefits. Next, I asked all three stakeholders to order which ... • 31. Rights of Women in the Nineteenth Century and in Henrik... Henrik Ibsen, who was born in Norway but made his name internationally, was a painter as well as the one of most famous playwrights during the period of Realism. Ibsen s plays are well known by the themes of domestic and political issues and conflict in nineteenth century. Scholars call it Ibsen s problems play (Henrik Ibsen, 650). In addition, in Ibsen s plays, the general topics that are usually discussed are hypocrisy of the society, restriction of women, and the self sacrifice. Under the influence of Industrial Revolution, the conflict between classes and the struggle among workers were becoming more and more intense, especially among women. By responding to French Rvolution, Liberty was the key word for nineteenth century (The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Torvald is a good husband, but he treats Nora merely as a pretty doll. Moreover, Torvald is also the money provider of the family, which gives him even more power and pride. However, Nora s husband does not expect her to be independent or thoughtful. It seems that Torvald even enjoys Nora is being dependent and childish, so he can keep his pride and control over Nora. Due to Nora s dependency and Torvald s domination, an equal relationship does not exist in their marriage. Especially on the act III, during their last intense argue, Torvald even says, You are out of your mind! I won t allow it! I forbid you! (Ibsen, Act III, 658). This also reflects on the marriage situations in the society of the nineteenth century. Generally, the women were no more than an accessory, or a doll to the men. Husband nearly listened to their wives thoughts and had a deep conversation with them. Second, Even though the women in the nineteenth century were expected to self sacrifice to their husbands and children, their sacrifices may not be appreciated. They did not receive the respect and understanding they ought to have. The most difficult time for Helmer s family was the time when Torvald got a severe disease. Nora had to borrow money from a despicable lawyer Krogstad, Nora imitated her father s signature. Later on, krogstad uses the fake signature to threat Nora. • 32. Pamela Meyer Ted Talk The results of the quiz that I took prior to watching the video on TED Talks by Pamela Meyer were 11/17, or 65% (Meyer, 2010). I am not surprised by the results, as I tend to accept people at face value. I make a conscious effort to be honest almost to a fault (resulting in not many friends), so I expect that same behavior from others that I encounter regularly. For a literal person such as myself, this means that I have much to learn about human behavior and patterns. This quiz result would tend to make me believe that I am gullible, and will believe anything that is told to me. Why Do People Lie? In most cases, people don t intend to lie. The parasympathetic nervous system is associated with routine, day to day operations of the body, while the sympathetic nervous system is involved in stress related activities and functions. (Psychology, P. 88) How this may be related to lying: The body undergoes physiological changes when one is lying, such as blood pressure changing, heart rate, dry mouth, respiration, perspiration and skin conductivity, muscle contractions, dilated pupils (arousal theory). But research reveals that some people can remain calm even when telling a lie. According to Pamela Meyer (01:46), Not all lies are harmful when we feel that the truth may hurt. The primary forms of lying are lying by commission, when you intentionally tell an untruth to somebody. The other form is lying by omission , or just not telling the whole story. A perfect example of this is when a wife asks the husband did you stop off in Laughlin? The response from the husband may be No, I did NOT , which is the truth, but he neglects to tell his wife that a certain casino is not officially in the Laughlin city limits, it is on reservation land. So yes, he did go gambling, which is what she really should have asked, but he didn t do his gambling in Laughlin. Some people consider this type of lying harmless, while the person being lied to may have a different opinion. So, who is being hurt more? The person doing the lying, or the person being lied ... • 33. Operation Of Operation Eagle Claw Many American hostage lives were on the line with just one military operation to save and bring them home. Yet, the failure of Operation Eagle Claw brought death to military personnel and shame to America. Operation Eagle Claw was a mission to end the hostage crisis in Iran which was in a political upraise against the United States. The planning of Operation Eagle Claw was too complex and planners over looked the military aviation doctrine to hastily get the hostages to safety. Operation Eagle Claw s failure was due to prolonged American evacuation from Iran which led to a hasty complex plan that did not keep aviation doctrine in consideration which helped us learn how we need to rethink and conduct large scale military aviation ... For days, military flights brought thousands of Americans out of Iran and into safe countries until on February 10th 1979, Iranians closed the Mehrahad Airport putting a halt on the evacuation of Americans. In response, the Joint Chiefs of Staff were planning and organizing a rescue and support mission to the U.S. Embassy in Iran. Before the rescue and evacuation mission could begin, armed Iranians took over the U.S. Embassy in Tehran and took 102 Americans hostage. Khomeini security returned the hostages and embassy while also getting the airport to be reopened.2 On November 4th 1979, Iranian revolutionary students stormed the U.S. Embassy in Teheran and took 52 Americans and some military personnel hostage. The students would only release the hostages if America would hand over the Shah to receive trial and most likely execution along with no more interfering in Iranian affairs.3 Many rescue mission attempts, blocking resources, and compromising with Iran gave little to no hope to retrieve the hostages and bring piece. Under enormous political pressure, on November 12th, President Jimmy Carter ordered the pentagon to begin drawing up plans for a daring read: foolhardy rescue mission codenamed Operation Eagle Claw .4 The President and Joint Chiefs of Staff needed to come up with a tentative plan fast for the American population who were upset with the hostage crisis ... • 35. Of Gods And Romans Essay Of Gods and Romans The Romans during the time of their Republic relied on their advanced technology, social structure, leadership and politics to achieve as much as they did. To these people, their gods affected all of these factors and the relationships mankind had with them. The contractual relationship between mankind and the gods involved each party in giving, and in return receiving services. The Romans believed that spirits residing in natural and physical objects had the power to control the processes of nature, and that man could influence these processes by symbolic action. The first is a primitive form of religious creed; the second a type of magic. The services by which the Romans hoped to influence the forces that guided ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Any unintentional deviation from the prescribed ritual meant not only a new sacrifice, but also an additional one to absolve the error. In high occasions, on which a replay of the entire ceremony might be an embarrassment, a sacrifice was performed as a matter of course on the pervious day, to cover for any potential errors during the main ceremony. Multiple sacrifices were commonplace: the word hecatomb, which derives from the Greek, means the sacrifice of a hundred head of oxen. There was a distinction between signs that were solicited and those that appeared without invitation. At many times, an individual would see an omen that gave him/her confidence to continue a current course of action (52) other incidences produced warnings to change one s itinerary (55, 74 75). The more startling or unexpected the sign, for instance a sudden flash of lightning or an epileptic fit on the part of a member of an assembly, the more seriously it was taken. It was not unknown for an interested party to throw a feigned fit in order to obstruct proceedings. Lightning which appeared while auspices were being taken was good news, but not so if it came otherwise. Certain omens such as scorpions fighting (55), sacrificing an animal that does not appear to have a heart (303), or bizarre natural occurrences (74 75) were signs of disaster. The gods also produced omens through the actions of men. When a child ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
