The Qantas Emirates Agreement Commenced
The Qantas Emirates agreement commenced in April 2013. What impact has this partnership had
on the two airlines, and on the market between Australia and Europe? The new Qantas Emirates
agreement that commenced in April 2013 had a significant impact on both airlines as there were
substantial benefits that were now offered to both airlines customers. The new partnership gave
Qantascustomers access to Emirates vast network in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa
while Emirates customers benefit from gaining access to Qantas unmatched Australian domestic
and regional network. Meanwhile both airlines customers also enjoy the benefit from the premium
products now offered such as new world wide lounges, enhanced products in terms of seats, meals
and inflight entertainment as well as frequent flyer programs. The new agreement also gives both
airlines significant advantage in network over its competitors between Australia and Europe.
According to ACCC chairman Rod Sims The ACCC considers that the alliance is likely to result in
public benefits through enhanced products and service offerings by the airlines, and improved
operating efficiency and this was perhaps one of the biggest impacts of this partnership on both
airlines. It is certain that the new look of the premium product offered through this partnership will
not only give existing customers a unique flying experience but also because of its premium
appearance and distinctiveness will certainly attract more

A Man For All Seasons, And Elia Kazan s On The Waterfront
Only fools follow their standard of personal integrity. Discuss.
Values and morals are often instilled in people as they grow up, but the extent to which one
chooses to follow these principles can be greatly swayed by how strong their sense of personal
integrity is. As individuals are exposed to an array of varying perspectives and multiple values,
one s own certainty about the interpretation or application of a particular principle may lessen,
opening up the possibility of accepting an alternative position. Robert Bolt s play, A Man For All
Seasons , and Elia Kazan s On the Waterfront, we see that integrity is impossible without a
conscience guided by long reflection upon the inner character of justice.
Bolt s ethical protagonist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bolt s lead character is a man of strict moral righteousness; he never once wavered, which
consequently leads to his fall from grace and untimely death. More is not setting out to be a hero or
martyr. He is a lawyer and sees the law as a way to live peacefully in the world. From his choices, it
is evidently clear that More is no simple common man. He treads the road that only a few mortals
would dare travel down to. His critics see his morality as impractical but for More, his conscience
is the only thing (he) believes to be true . As a man of virtue, More stands alone in the play.
Surrounded by a cast of seemingly weak and basic characters, More s morality is even more
manifest. Such characters as Richard Rich and the Common Man demonstrate how most normal
individuals will be guided by their needs, not their consciences. Rich is intoxicated with avarice
and believes that materialistic items such as clothes and money will gain him the respect and power
that he rightly deserves . More conversely knows well that respect and admiration cannot be
brought and that the integrity of men is to be measured by conduct and not their satisfaction of
hubris.
It is obvious that More understands the nuance of every political move, as he mentions what
would happen if Wolsey falls. He conveys his competence by his careful handling of events.
Because of his intellectual prowess, More has managed to keep the people he cares around him
safe by using the words of the law in

Termination Of Field Practicum At Menninger s Clinic Essay
Written Statement from Leander Burgess Regarding Termination of Field Practicum at
Menninger s Clinic I, Leander Burgess, am an Advanced Standing Social Work Student at the
University of Houston, Graduate College of Social Work. During the summer of 2016 I
interviewed with Menninger s Clinic for a Field Placement and was accepted. Menninger s
Clinic contacted me approximately a week later and asked me to interview at the Gathering
Place, a psycho social clubhouse for the chronically mentally ill. I completed the interview with
Hans Meyer the Licensed Clinical Social Worker at the Gathering Place. A couple of days
afterwards I contacted Mr. Meyer and expressed my concerns about being able to gain the
necessary experience needed as an Advance Clinical student. Mr. Meyer stated that he would
look into it since this was something new that Menninger was trying by assigning an Advanced
Student to the clubhouse. Just before summer ended, I again reached out to Menninger and
expressed my concerns but did not receive a reply. I attended orientation on the 1st of August,
where once again I expressed my concerns that my level of clinical experience would not match
that of my fellow classmates who were also assigned to Menninger Clinic. I was asked to give it
a try since this was a new program they were trying out. Their plans were for me to sit in on the
groups at the Gathering Place and then when I felt comfortable to begin facilitating some of the
groups on my own. The groups where

Google And The Google Search Engine Essay
Google s Rise to Prominence
Want to find the answer to a difficult and complex linear algebra problem that seems unsolvable?
Google it. Want to find out how to officially join Justin Bieber fan club? Google it. Want to find
out who Justin Bieber is? Google it. Not long ago, people had to go to the library to search for
information. Nowadays, people get their information from search engines through the Internet.
Google has become the new library to quickly access information. If a question pops up in our
head, we just have to Google it and we instantly get the answer. How did Google become so
popular and successful? The Google search engine became popular because of its superior
algorithm that produces quick and relevant search results. Google used its search engine s
popularity to capitalize using ads called Adwords and AdSense. As a result, the Google search
engine is the most successful and widely used search engine in history.
The Google search engine was designed by two Stanford University graduates Larry Page and
Sergey Brin. An article in St. James Encyclopedia of Popular Culture entitled Google summarizes
the rise of Google s popularity in society. According to the article, Google was initially called
BackRub, but was changed to Google in 1997; a mathematical term called googol, which is the
numerical one followed by one hundred zeros. The term reflects Page and Brin s mission to
organize a seemingly infinite amount of information on the web. In 1998, PC

Benchmade Rivalry
Analysis of Porters five industry forces on Benchmade
Introducing a new product or service into a marketplace requires more than just a great idea.
Companies are often enamored with new product ideas that would appear to be unlimited in its
ability to capture a market. However, limits do exist and failure to properly conduct market
research could lead to a failed product introduction. Enabling analysis of a market to determine the
level of competition requires the use of Porter s five industry forces; the character of rivalry, the
threat of new entrants, the threat of substitute products or services, the bargaining power of
suppliers, and the bargaining power of buyers (Williams 2017).
Rivalry among competitors is a normal part of the business environment and should be expected in
any market. However, understanding the character of the rivalry, or how intense the behavior is of
the companies competing in that industry, is the first of Porter s five industry forces (Williams
2017). As an example, in 1988 Benchmade Knife Company was founded by Les de Asis in
California, producing fixed blade and folding knives. As a sporting knife manufacturer, Benchmade
competitors included; Buck, KA BAR, Case, Gerber, Kershaw, Syderco, SOG, Columbia River
Knife Tool (CRKT), Cold Steel. There were also many custom knife makers usually sold under the
knifemakers name offering custom designs and handcrafted precision. A crowded industry field

Baseball Problems
There s a problem coursing through baseball, and it goes well beyond Philadelphia Phillies
manager Gabe Kapler choosing which reliever to use by throwing a dart.
Attendance for Major League Baseball games is down 6.6 percent from this time last year,
forecasting the third straight season of decline. While the popular excuse is to blame the downturn
on early season washouts, Commissioner Rob Manfred recently told The Wall Street Journal he is
concerned that there s something to it more than weather.
In Philadelphia, attendance is actually up about three percent from 2017 to 24,855 per game. But
considering the Phils are currently 15 games improved over their 22 47 record a year ago, this is
no cause for smug satisfaction.
Manfred is correct, of course. The national pastime has systemic ... Show more content on

Three problems that I see, actually:
1. The sport has become too expensive While attending a Major League Baseball game remains
cheaper than watching other sports, it has moved out of the range where heading to the park can be
an impulse buy.
The average Phillies ticket this season costs $36, according to the data tracking company Statista.
While this is actually cheaper than last year, it still means that including parking, a few snacks,
and a souvenir a family of four s visit to the ballpark will be a $250 hit.
2. Baseball lacks identifiable superstars The NBA has LeBron James, Steph Curry, and many
others recognized just by their first name. The NFL has at least six quarterbacks famous to the
world. Baseball has . . . uhh.
Yes, Mike Trout is an amazing player. Clayton Kershaw and Max Scherzer may be all time greats.
But, alas, none has any kind of national or international standing. A recent ESPN study of the 100
most famous athletes in the world included zero baseball players.
We can fairly blame poor marketing, but the sport sorely needs players with the magnetic
personalities of Ken Griffey, Jr., Randy Johnson, and Big

The Financial Reporting Council ( Frc )
The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) has recently released four new standards: FRS 100
Application of Financial Reporting Requirements; FRS 101 Reduced Disclosure Framework;
FRS 102 The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland; and
FRS 103 Insurance Contacts. FRS 100 basically describes who does what with the new UK

the reduced disclosure framework; and when a business should follow a statement of recommended

This act modified the methods for many different subjects, such as financial and non financial
reporting, company communications with shareholders, and the responsibilities of company
heads. The main role of the Act is to get managers to act in the best interests of shareholders. It
additionally requires managers to think about the long term effects of decisions; the welfares of
the business s staff; the business s connections alongside suppliers, clients, and others; and the
impression of the company s procedures on the surrounding area. The Company Law Review
Group was established by the government in 1998 in order to contemplate ways to modernize
company law. The Company Law Review guidelines were the starting point for the modifications
suggested by the Company Law Reform White Paper released in 2005. Then the White Paper
proposals turned into an outline for a Bill, which then finally received official approval and passed
in 2006, (companieshouse.gov.uk, 2014). Some of the main effects of the Companies Act on
private companies are: an individual and simplified model of Articles of Association; individual
requirements for accounting and reporting; no requirement for a company secretary; no
requirement for an annual meeting; and simplified rules about share capital,
(companieshouse.gov.uk, 2014). The key benefits of the Companies Act for shareholders

that he could kill an enemy because he had killed Python. With Cupid being small in stature and

Furthermore, Daphne s father insisted on a son in law, Her father often said to her, Daughter

Advantage Of Single Sex Education
Single Sex Education, Is it Ideal?
We need to give our children an introduction to single sex education when they are young. A lot of
research has shown that single sex schools have a great deal of advantages for students. With
benefits ranging from increased participation, to new activities and the loss of gender stereotypes.
For example, on the whole, girls and boys who are educated in single sex schools gain more
confidence than their coed peers. In addition, they make academic gains above those in co ed
schools. They also learn to gravitate towards untraditional areas that are not always accepted for
their gender. Single sex education also has fewer bullying reports and less distractions. Though it
s hard to generalize about all single sex schools, there are some commonalities that tend to
characterize many single sex schools. All of this may be true, yet there are still people who think
that single sex schooling promotes poor social skills and sexisim. They think that the world is a
co ed world, people have to have relationships with cross gender people. Most people get married,
they have family members, they might even work in environment where they have to work across
men and women. Single sex education has a educational and mental effect on children, they are the
future after all, right?

Archeology is not as simple as looking at rocks and figuring out the past. Carbon dating and other
methods that can be used were further explained during this lecture. Other aspects of archeology
were also better elaborated during the talk as well.
The speaker, Doctor Andrew Shortland, told us a little story to begin his lecture and it was about
a man named George Green. His story began with George taking something to the museum and
that something was a valuable 1350 B.C. pop style egyptian mini statue. He brought it in and
offered it to the museum so they could display if to the public and of course get some money. As
the story goes the museum payed ВЈ440,000, which in U.S. currency would be about $556,903, as

Shortland went on he explained methods of finding out if artifacts were of that time, place, and
material the people used at the time. One of the methods he talked about was Carbon Dating,
which is a way of finding out an object s age by using properties of radiocarbon, a radioactive
isotope of carbon. A second way of finding out an artifact s date can be Potassium argon dating
which can be used to date extremely old artifacts up to 100,000 years old. The last method he
explained was Obsidian hydration dating which is used on artifacts made from volcanic glass. One
thing that got my attention were the machines they used to find their legitimacy, date, and so on
and one of them was a SEM EDS, scanning electron microscopy with x ray microanalysis. It is an
electron beam that scans across a sample s surface. After it scans completely it produces an
image or a sample s elemental composition. The 3 signals that provide the most information in
the SEM are the secondary electrons, backscattered electrons, and X rays. He also talked about an
XRF, X ray fluorescence, a non destructive analytical technique used to determine the elemental
composition of materials. The XRF analyzers determine the chemistry of a sample by measuring
the fluorescent X ray emitted from a sample when it is excited by a primary X ray source. Thirdly
he mentioned an XRD, X ray powder diffraction, which is a rapid analytical technique primarily
used for phase identification of a crystalline material and

The Key Concepts Of The United States Recognition And...
2.1 Key concepts
De facto states: From the Greek polis to nowadays sovereign state, the concept of state has changed
and evolved during time. Today, the 1933 Montevideo Convention sets the rights and duties of state.
Each sovereign state as a person of international law should possess the following qualifications: (a)
permanent population; (b) defined territory; (c) government; and (d) capacity to enter into relations
with the other states. By contrast, a de facto state is, a secessionist entity capable of delivering
governmental services while maintaining effective control over a given population and territory
(Pegg 1998). Yet, if de facto states fulfil, the first three criteria mentioned above, they have usually
a limited capacity to enter in relation with other states, precisely, because they are denied official
existence through non recognition. The ultimate goal of these states is to achieve recognition and
constitutional independence (Lynch 2004). The recognition act can be seen or used as a
discretionary power (of sovereign states) mainly of a political nature. However, the criteria defined
by the convention are very limitative, and oversee only official status, not the way a state functions
or should function. In another word, what technically, differentiate de facto state vis Г vis of any
other sovereign state is related to the fulfilment of the last criterion. Hence, if the key element is the
recognition, one may wonder why this recognition seems hard to obtain.

Trust Agreements
Ask a Trust Attorney: What Type of Trust Agreement Is Best For Me?
Trust agreements are extremely useful tools in the estate planning process. As part of a
comprehensive estate plan, trust agreements can protect your assets, provide for your family, and
provide for your care if you should become incapacitated.
However, trust agreements are also complex documents that must be drafted carefully in order to
meet your goals and comply with state and federal requirements for trust agreements. An
experienced Jacksonville trust attorney can explain in detail the pros and cons of each type of trust
agreement and help you decide the type of trust agreement that best meets your needs and goals.

Once you place your assets into the trust, they must be administered according to the terms of the
trust. Therefore, you must be very careful when choosing an irrevocable trust and drafting an
irrevocable trust. An experienced trust attorney can explain in further detail the benefits of this type
of trust agreement and why it may be the best choice for you. In some cases, an irrevocable trust
can be a valuable tool in Medicaid/nursing home planning.
Retirement Trust
This is a specialized type of trust agreement that a trust attorney may recommend to protect your
Individual Retirement Account from creditors. You can use a retirement trust to protect your IRA
for the benefit of your beneficiaries. Because this is a specialized type of trust agreement, you want
to consult a trust attorney before choosing this type of trust as part of your estate planning strategy.
Special Needs Trust
Special needs trusts are another type of specialized trusts that must be drafted very carefully to
ensure the trust agreement meets all of the requirements for a special needs trust. The trust is
designed to provide for the care of a disabled or special needs person and can also be used to hold

The Religious Life on Planet Earth
Religious Life of Planet Earth
The people on earth follow many religions and some of the prominent ones are Christianity, Islam,
Hinduism, Judaism, Buddhism, Shinto, Jainism and Sikhism. All these religions are based on a
strong belief system and a set of cultural practices that are aimed to provide meaning to life.
Criteria to determine a religious life
One of the biggest criterion for determining a religious life is the presence of a strong faith in a
particular God. Though each religion follows a different God, there is nevertheless a common
belief in the existence and power of God.
This strong faith in God induces people to lead a moral life. They abide by certain rules that are
established to help them lead a peaceful life with their fellow beings. Most of the religions are
believed to have started as a way to help people to live a peaceful and harmonious life.
The third criteria for a religious life is to explore the meaning and origin of life. How was earth
formed and where did people come from? The people of earth strive to answer these questions and
understand their role on earth through religion.
Examples of behaviors and beliefs
Numerous instances can be used as examples to show that the people of earth are religious, based
on the above criteria. Firstly, there is a strong belief in the existence of God. Idol worship is
followed in many religions today with Hinduism leading the way. In fact, Hinduism is considered
to be the oldest active religion in the

Campaign Work I worked for twelve hours at a phone bank calling voters to promote passage of
Measure J. This was the second time I have done that for a Sonoma County initiative.
Volunteering for the phone bank, I already knew what to expect (lists of phone numbers and
names, scripts to use, and the people I would mostly be talking to, provided they answered the
phone.) This was more than an assignment for me, however. This is something I feel truly
passionate about because I use these parks regularly. All in all, I made about 200 calls to various
people in the unincorporated areas of Sonoma County. Most of the calls I made ended with me
leaving a voicemail message. Approximately 20 percent of them were answered. I was usually
able to read the whole script, which took about 15 20 seconds to read. I was so eager to share
this information that I had to force myself to slow down so that people could understand what I
was saying. Of the calls that were answered only a few people cut me off to say their minds were
already made up on the issue. Ironically, the people that let me finish were generally older and
already planned to vote yes for the measure. I thought the younger people who use the park would
be more passionate about the issue, yet it was the elderly who seemed to care. Some people

Internet Addiction And Compulsive Internet Use
Since its inception, the internet has proven to be a vital asset to one s everyday life on multiple
occasions. With the aid of the internet, many have been able to successfully overcome any puzzling
obstacle presented to them. However, with great power comes great responsibility. In this context
the internethas that power. It is the utmost priority that that power be heavily monitored to ensure
the best possible future for generations to come. The internet can be a very dangerous place despite
its many accolades; due to the overwhelming usage amongst the world s population, the harmful
content that has the potential to be viewed, and the slander and backlash of various news sources
and social media outlets. So it only makes sense to take the precautions necessary to retaliate
against them.
With the internet being implemented into the daily lives of a majority of the population, it s easy
to understand why over usage would be presented as a problem. As Einstein once said I fear the
day that technology will surpass our human interaction. The world will have a generation of idiots.
The world has become so invested in new technology that times of old are just a memory. No
longer exploring what the world has the offer, people stay isolated in their homes further straying
away from outside interaction. In the following excerpt of Dr. David N. Greenfield s book The Net
Effect: Internet Addiction and Compulsive Internet Use it further discusses the statistical and

America Is The Land Of Immigrants Essay
America is the land of immigrants. This was the first thing I ever heard about the supreme global
power of the 21st century, and my definition of immigration has been expanding since then. Being
an immigrant myself, I had the opportunity to gain several first hand experiences in the processes
of migration and assimilation in a host society. Although the benefit of being a second generation
migrant eased my transition than that of many first generation migrants, the culture I brought with
me from India, my home country, did not fail to shape my life in the US. Culture implants moral
values in one s personality directing the cognitive pathways towards decision making, which
ultimately influence life goals and attainment of those goals too. This influence of culture is
conspicuous in the differences observed in the realizations of the American dream among different
ethnic groups, representing different cultural backgrounds. In this ethnography, I take a deeper look
at the migration perspectives of a first generation Indian migrant to the US named Krishna, who
was able to achieve the American dream. Belonging to one of the most successful immigrant
groups in the US, i.e. the Indians, Krishna possesses a relatively positive stance towards his
migration experience compared to the most immigrant stories of suffering that come to the
limelight in the society. Growing up in India in the 1970s: a post colonial society with increasing
rates of emigration, Krishna always desired

Observing Wolves Never Cry Wolf Summary
In Farley Mowat s, Observing Wolves , Never Cry Wolf, 1963 story he writes about his trip to
the Keewatin Barren Land in the Northwest Territories. He was sent there by the Canadian
government to prove or disprove that the wolves were eating the caribou. Before Mowat went
on his journey he would have planned what equipment he needed to bring, how to prove or dis

would have prevented the wolves from attacking him. The first thing Mowat would have
planned is what equipment to bring. He would have planned to bring a small tent to live in and
hide from the wolves. Inside the tent he would have a sleeping bag and blankets which he
planned to bring to survive the cold and to be able to fall asleep at night. To not die from hunger

would have planned to bring a large garbage can to throw away his trash, air fresheners to spray
the canned food to remove the smell and a zip lock tie to tie the bag up once the empty cans and

The Issue Of Horse Slaughter
In today s world dogs may very well be considered man s best friend, but in the days of old horses
weren t just man s best friend, they were the most important tool in his possession. From being a
form transportation to being used in competitions and battles to even being a source of food,
horses have always been an iconic figure in American history. Movies such as The Horse
Whisperer, Dreamer, and Flicka portray horses as majestic and powerful creatures full of grace
and beauty that are much more of a companion than a tool. This is quite possibly why the topic of
horse slaughter has been such a taboo in today s culture. While in many countries around the world
horsemeat is considered a type of delicacy, to most American s the idea of eating these exquisite
creatures is hard to stomach. There are people who see no wrong in slaughtering horses just like
any other livestock animal, though others find it inhumane and cruel. Those who are pro slaughter
have many practical and economic reasons for supporting it, while those opposed have ethical
issues against it.
Proponents of the horse slaughter industry suggest it creates a source of income for many horse
owners. Horses are very expensive to own with the average annual cost of a horse being
approximately $3,876 per horse (Williams). Many horses are unwanted for several reasons, either
they don t have the potential the owner originally thought or they have gotten too old for work or
the horse may even be dangerous to be

Flashbacks In Alien
Director M. Night Shyamalan has produced his share of decent stories, such as Wayward Pines,
however he s also had his major flops. With Split, the only thing I can say with certainty is never
have I walked into a movie theatre with low expectations and received even less.
As I consider horror to be one of my favorite movie genres, I didn t go and see Split with my
expectations super high. Occasionally, I ll come across something authentically creepy, Like
Stephen King s Pet Sematary or Ridley Scott s Alien, however many horror flicks can fall on their
faces before they even start running.
Split tells the tale of three young girls who are kidnapped and held hostage by Kevin Crumb
(James McAvoy), a man with 23 different personalities. As they try to escape,... Show more content

Throughout the movie, there were multiple flashbacks to Casey s (Anya Taylor Joy) past. In these
memories, there were allusions to childhood abuse, death, and overall confusion. The flashbacks
were intended to add more to Casey s character and her determination to live, but they were so
poorly presented that it left more holes in her character than development.
Luckily, even movies that make me cry from how awful they are have their silver linings.
McAvoy was a shining light in the dark pit that this movie fell in. His ability to portray many
different characters within one movie is admirable and entertaining, and not only was he going off
camera as one person and on as another, he was capable of shifting personalities on screen. He
captured the ability to physically show the mental morphing between personalities while remaining
an absolutely phenomenal actor.
Although McAvoy provided some sort of appeal in the movie, I would prefer to have those two
hours of my life back. Split lacked any sort of excitement and anticipation; in fact, it was
absolutely boring. If you re looking for something to watch at midnight for a good scare, Split is

The Dissonances Of God And God In The Iliad
Some of the things that define an individual and its behavior are the culture and ideals in its
residence. These ideals and culture prove that each and everyone one of us is unique. For
example, an ideal Greek citizen is versatile, clever, a leader, an orator, adaptable and tricky while
an ideal Hebrew citizen is wise, obedient, studious, righteous, inadequate, and is able to converse
with God. In Hebrew literature, God is just and merciful and the humans are inadequate. On the
other hand, in Greek literature, gods are powerful and self centered, and the humans are the ones
responsible for the community. The difference between the two is apparent, and considering these
evident differences, we can also reason out that the way how the characters... Show more content on

Kodak Options Memo
In my March 6 memo, I discussed the need for Kodak to revamp its core strategy and regain
popularity. Eastman Kodak has been the leader of photography and printing products for nearly
130 years. Over the last few years Kodak has been in distress due to its poor fundamental shift into
the digital age. Lack of strategic creativity led Kodak to misunderstand the industry in which it was
operating. This lack of strategic creativity was costly for Kodak.
This memo will explore the options I briefly discussed in the previous memo, in order to find a
solution to this problem. Each option will be assessed based on the same criteria. The options to
consider are:

These profits can be achieved through tracking consumer needs and maintaining efficiency within
the value chain.
The option can revamp its line of attack to surpass current expectations. Though this option has a
high level of risk, if successful, would implement a drastic change to Kodak s strategy and overall
performance for the good of company leaders, employees, and stakeholders. The new CEO will be
evaluated after one year by leaders, employees, and stakeholders.
Option 2: Enter into a new aggressive market
Kodak currently has no position within the ink market. The ink business is a $45 billion a year
sector that could regenerate Kodak s position in the printing sector. The market for ink is
dominated by HP, followed by Epson, Canon, and Lexmark. Entering a complete new market may
be beneficial in its current position. According to Kodak, the greatest obstacle to printing at home is
the cost of ink and supplies. Kodak can develop a cost efficient solution that will be more appealing
to consumers. With the launch of this product, Kodak must focus on several sectors of business:
marketing, pricing, distribution, and production. Onesource (2011). * Marketing Kodak is the
world s foremost imaging innovator. Its reputation in the film printing business is dominant.
Introducing a new line of cost efficient printer ink will be effective and popular. Kodak s target
market will include anyone with a household printer. Kodak s goal will focus

Vertigo and His Girl Friday
The films Vertigo and His Girl Friday, directed by Alfred Hitchcock and Howard Hawks
respectively, are good representations of classical cinema. A stigma associated with classical
cinema is the film s portrayal of women. Feminist film theorists believe that the male protagonist
play a more prominent role while women are only something to be looked at and acted upon. Both
films possess a male and a female protagonist. His Girl Fridaycasts Cary Grant as a cunning
newspaper editor named Walter Burns, as well as Rosalind Russellas former reporter and former
wife of Walter, Hildy Johnson. Vertigo stars James Stewart as a former detective named Scottie
Ferguson, and Kim Novak as Madeleine Ester, a womanScottie is hired to investigate. Both films
challenge the feminist s hypothesis with powerful and intelligent women who have some control
over men in the film. Yet in both films the male protagonist ultimately has control over the
female even though the stigma is tested throughout the entirety of both films. In the film His
Girl Friday, Hildy Johnson is an ex reporter whose goal is to settle down and have a normal life
with her fiancГ© Bruce Baldwin. She returns to tell Walter that she is finished reporting forever
but Walter s goal is to make her a reporter again and eventually remarry her. Hildy is a beautiful
woman and steals every scene she is in, other than perhaps the scenes involving Walter. In an early

The Influences Of Political Socialization
What single factor do you think had the strongest influence on your political socialization? My
family and my culture are huge factors that influences my political socialization. Growing up in
an immigrant household was very though. Seeing my parents struggle to put food on the table
was difficult to witness. As a little girl I didn t understand what was going on. Why couldn t my
parents find a decent paying job? Why did my dad have to have two sometimes three job just to
pay the bills. It wasn t until I got older and understood that all that economy suffering my family
and I went through could have been prevent with a few numbers called social security. My parents
left their loves one in Mexico to life the American dream, which eventually turned into a nightmare.
Living in Arizona, is difficult for an immigrant. Yes rent is cheap, but not being able to leave your
house without the fear of being deported is not worth the money you save in rent. Why isn t the
government doing anything to help the immigrants? Why aren t they helping these people whose

With all that s happened in the turning tides of the political climate in Washington DC, I find a
misquote of an original Albert Einstein quote to be appropriate:
Everything should be as simple as it can be, but not simpler.
It s obvious we live in a divisive time. But lately I ve started to wonder if we live in an
oversimplified one as well. I wonder if our heightened emotions have mistakenly led us to believe
things were much more straightforward then they are. We feel so passionately about so much. And
the louder our voices get, the deeper our convictions go. We are certain unity is possible. (If only
the other side who could begin to see things our way.)
It s simple.
But it s not. For me, at least. And feeling this way has led to me feeling ... Show more content on

And that s okay.
Still, it does make it more lonely.
But the thing is, I m not convinced I am the only one. I think there are a lot of us. At least I hope
there are. I hope there is an undercurrent of insurgents who are not allowing a political party to
determine where we belong and what we believe. Who see the humanity in those who take the same
positions we do, and in those who are bitterly opposed. Who believe to simplify the cause is to
undermine the cause. And that to reduce the issues to the lowest common denominator is to reduce
the personhood of those who don t agree with us.
We are the new revolutionaries who know that nothing is as simple as it appears, that things are
more murky than maybe either side feels comfortable admitting, and that the act of not belonging
anywhere is in and of itself belonging and taking a stand somewhere. This too takes courage, self
reflection, and conviction. We are not copping out, selling out, or flaking out. We are leaning in,
we are tuning in, and we are giving in to something larger than our need to feel comfortable. We are
learning to live in the in between.
So. Is anyone with

Essay on Cannabis Legalization
Cannabis Legalization
Discuss: Cannabis is no more harmful than tobacco or alcohol and should, therefore, be legalised.
There has recently been much debate in the media about the decriminalisation of cannabis, both for
recreational and medicinal use. This topic has proved controversial especially in political circles.
Drawing on evidence from recent press reports, research on the web and recent publications, this
essay will assess the evidence of how harmful cannabis really is.
In 1971 Cannabis was reclassified by parliament and became a schedule 1 drug. This means that
it was viewed as having no medicinal value. In 2002, Cannabis was reclassified again as a Class C
drug meaning that it is seen as less harmful in comparison to ... Show more content on

He argues that cannabis use is no more dangerous than alcohol and tobacco, suggesting that the
legal effects can have further far reaching consequences on users if they are caught. He explains
that,
People who are prosecuted for possession of cannabis may have their livelihoods destroyed for the
use of a compound which has less adverse consequences than alcohol and tobacco.
However, there are many critical responses to these views. Studies such those published by the BMJ
demonstrate that there are two main problems with long term cannabis use. One problem is that
cannabis usage over time damages mental health and has negative physical consequences much like
those of nicotine. On the other side of the coin cannabis use can have indirect consequences in
terms of the wider population.
The British Medical Journal (1996) featured an article suggesting that women had a five fold
increase in comparison with men in reporting of depressive episodes after smoking cannabis. This
suggests that gender has an effect on reactions to cannabis. It also suggests that there may be
differences in terms of reporting the effects of cannabis based on gender, with men perhaps being
less keen to report any negative reactions due to stereotypes based on gender.
Additionally episodes of psychosis have also been related to cannabis which indicates that cannabis
may not be as harmless as some suggest. A recent Guardian

Violence And Sexual Assault And Violence Against Women
Intro
Throughout history especially within recent years there has been a major rise of sexual assault
and violence against women. This is prevalent within college campuses, within work, the
military, within family households and nearly all parts of society there is no getting away from
it. It is truly a shame and a wretched part of society. However, this needs to be brought to light.
This can no longer be avoided and society needs to come together as a whole, in order to stop this.
Throughout this essay we are going to go over the statistical background of violence and sexual
assault towards women, sexual assault on college campuses, the emotional abuse of those
affected, and why Victims don t come forward. Then a step by step breakdown of how we can rid
society from these unacceptable acts of violence and sexual assault towards woman. Before
exploring the deeper aspects of violence and sexual assault towards woman, it s important to have a
historical foundation and statistics.
Background statistics
Within the United states the National Sexual violation and resource center has conducted in depth
statistics pertaining to sexual violence. These Statistics indicate that one in five woman will be

term, but not a new concept . McGoldrick and Stewart (1996:1) tell us that HRD is a relatively
new concept that has yet to become fully established and accepted, either within professional

Shankman s View Of War
Shankman discusses the view of the war, and the sinking of the Maine, from the perspective of
the Methodist church. Throughout the church there was varying opinions of the explosion and
the war itself. Some people believed that the war would be necessary, while others believed there
was no need for a war. IN an editorial from a New York Methodist newspaper in April 1898:
Should we now go to war, insisted the Syracuse Northern Christian Advocate, our cause will be just,
and Methodismwill be ready to do its full duty. Every Methodist preacher will be a recruiting
officer (Shankman, 1973). However, in the south, the Southern Christian Advocate pushed for
people to help send aid to the Cubans that are refugees and on the island; some groups even set up
soup kitchens and churches donated some money as charity. These opinions helped spread the
divide after the attack on the Maine:
Generally, the Methodist press advised that rash accusations were unjust and foolish. The Nashville
Christian Advocate suspected that the explosion had been the work of a misguided Spaniard or
resulted from a fire on the Maine, and it thought that all premature judgments on the cause of the
sinking did more harm than good. (Shankman, 1973)
That view did not last long, by April 14 it was believed that the sinking of the USS Maine was not
a mere accident, The Atlanta Wesleyan Christian Advocate first believed that Spanish perfidy had
caused the catastrophe but later decided some hotheads

The Objectification Of Women By Kenneth Clark
For centuries, the objectification of women has become the norm, forever portraying them as
submissive and passive for the benefit of the male gaze. Eternally capsulated in a world,
perfected, unanimously the viewer and viewed alike. Jenny Saville defies expectations in creating
the female nude with herself as both subject and painter. Taking on the roles given to women by
men and making them her own, Saville elevates the status of women by making them their own
judge of beauty. Kenneth Clark, a renowned art historian of his time, believed to create a form of
art, the nude must be reformed and not directly recorded from life. In doing so, scouring away all
evidence of the womanbefore the painting, before being perfected.

To achieve this, the body must be abstracted, becoming a process of designing the ideal figure
through mutating and etching away any flaws of the sitter. [The nude is] a balance, prosperous,
and confident body: the body reformed (1956:3) conveying that a woman must be scoured of all
imperfections to be confident in her own right. However, Saville contradicts this by almost
aggressively painting her flaws, baring herself to all and reviling in her own nakedness. Proving
further the empowerment, a woman can feel upon taking control of how others perceive her. Yet,
Saville s pride in her state of nakedness is condemned to vanity, not allowing her to feel entitled to
the entity of her body. Berger agrees, calling out men for their hypocrisy in moulding women to
view themselves being viewed all to justify the creation of the female nude. Morally condemning
the woman whose nakedness you have depicted for your own pleasure (1972:51), Berger calls into
question the male gaze and the liberties men have taken in portraying women nude, only for them
to be shamed in their nakedness. Setting into motion the trend that women are to be ashamed of
their body without clothes. Clark further creates insecurities, conveying to women that to be naked
is to be deprived of clothes...embarrassment most of us feel in that condition (1956:3). Furthermore,

The first step of the analysis is to collect data which will help with the understanding of the events.
Identifying what data to collect and how and what to compare the results can be challenging. The
organization should have a baseline to compare to see how the changes are working. Comparing
information to similar organizations through benchmarking may indicate the success of the

Political Climate In Public Administration
In 1932, in response to the economic depression, President Franklin D. Roosevelt, promised the
people a new deal. The new deal was intended to provide much needed relief, recovery, and reform
to the American people, by seeking to stabilize the economy and provide jobs to those who were
suffering. It forced a change in the structure of American governmentand pushed it to play a bigger
role in the financing of social programs. This new reform changed how government functioned at
the state and federal levels and introduced new ideas of centralization, management, planning,
efficiency measurement, and new forms of social programs. It was during this time, that
management in the U.S., was recognized as its own discipline and introduced the political approach
to public administration.

Challenges Faced By Ethnic Minority Supervisors
Challenges Faced By Ethnic Minority Supervisors in Clinical Supervision
Personal Preparation My specialization paper will focus on the challenges faced by ethnic
minority supervisors in clinical supervision. My paper is guided by the courses I took in the
doctoral program, my personal experience as a supervisor and the gaps in literature review that
motivated me to pursue this area of research. In the past two and a half years of my doctoral
program, I took courses (advanced clinical supervision, advanced family counseling, and
independent research in multicultural counseling supervision, multicultural literature for children
and adolescents, and a course on survey design in educational research) to help me better
understand the cross cultural supervision and different challenges supervisor s face in cross cultural
supervision. These courses helped me to look into how ethnicity and clinical supervision are related
at a much deeper level, and how same/different ethnicity of supervisors and supervisee affect the
supervision process. The UF doctoral program has given me a unique opportunity to supervise
many supervisees from cultures (Chinese, Taiwanese, Hispanic, African American, and White
Caucasian American) different than mine. As a result, I have experienced some challenges as a

  • 2. The Qantas Emirates Agreement Commenced The Qantas Emirates agreement commenced in April 2013. What impact has this partnership had on the two airlines, and on the market between Australia and Europe? The new Qantas Emirates agreement that commenced in April 2013 had a significant impact on both airlines as there were substantial benefits that were now offered to both airlines customers. The new partnership gave Qantascustomers access to Emirates vast network in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa while Emirates customers benefit from gaining access to Qantas unmatched Australian domestic and regional network. Meanwhile both airlines customers also enjoy the benefit from the premium products now offered such as new world wide lounges, enhanced products in terms of seats, meals and inflight entertainment as well as frequent flyer programs. The new agreement also gives both airlines significant advantage in network over its competitors between Australia and Europe. According to ACCC chairman Rod Sims The ACCC considers that the alliance is likely to result in public benefits through enhanced products and service offerings by the airlines, and improved operating efficiency and this was perhaps one of the biggest impacts of this partnership on both airlines. It is certain that the new look of the premium product offered through this partnership will not only give existing customers a unique flying experience but also because of its premium appearance and distinctiveness will certainly attract more ... • 3. A Man For All Seasons, And Elia Kazan s On The Waterfront Only fools follow their standard of personal integrity. Discuss. Values and morals are often instilled in people as they grow up, but the extent to which one chooses to follow these principles can be greatly swayed by how strong their sense of personal integrity is. As individuals are exposed to an array of varying perspectives and multiple values, one s own certainty about the interpretation or application of a particular principle may lessen, opening up the possibility of accepting an alternative position. Robert Bolt s play, A Man For All Seasons , and Elia Kazan s On the Waterfront, we see that integrity is impossible without a conscience guided by long reflection upon the inner character of justice. Bolt s ethical protagonist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bolt s lead character is a man of strict moral righteousness; he never once wavered, which consequently leads to his fall from grace and untimely death. More is not setting out to be a hero or martyr. He is a lawyer and sees the law as a way to live peacefully in the world. From his choices, it is evidently clear that More is no simple common man. He treads the road that only a few mortals would dare travel down to. His critics see his morality as impractical but for More, his conscience is the only thing (he) believes to be true . As a man of virtue, More stands alone in the play. Surrounded by a cast of seemingly weak and basic characters, More s morality is even more manifest. Such characters as Richard Rich and the Common Man demonstrate how most normal individuals will be guided by their needs, not their consciences. Rich is intoxicated with avarice and believes that materialistic items such as clothes and money will gain him the respect and power that he rightly deserves . More conversely knows well that respect and admiration cannot be brought and that the integrity of men is to be measured by conduct and not their satisfaction of hubris. It is obvious that More understands the nuance of every political move, as he mentions what would happen if Wolsey falls. He conveys his competence by his careful handling of events. Because of his intellectual prowess, More has managed to keep the people he cares around him safe by using the words of the law in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Termination Of Field Practicum At Menninger s Clinic Essay Written Statement from Leander Burgess Regarding Termination of Field Practicum at Menninger s Clinic I, Leander Burgess, am an Advanced Standing Social Work Student at the University of Houston, Graduate College of Social Work. During the summer of 2016 I interviewed with Menninger s Clinic for a Field Placement and was accepted. Menninger s Clinic contacted me approximately a week later and asked me to interview at the Gathering Place, a psycho social clubhouse for the chronically mentally ill. I completed the interview with Hans Meyer the Licensed Clinical Social Worker at the Gathering Place. A couple of days afterwards I contacted Mr. Meyer and expressed my concerns about being able to gain the necessary experience needed as an Advance Clinical student. Mr. Meyer stated that he would look into it since this was something new that Menninger was trying by assigning an Advanced Student to the clubhouse. Just before summer ended, I again reached out to Menninger and expressed my concerns but did not receive a reply. I attended orientation on the 1st of August, where once again I expressed my concerns that my level of clinical experience would not match that of my fellow classmates who were also assigned to Menninger Clinic. I was asked to give it a try since this was a new program they were trying out. Their plans were for me to sit in on the groups at the Gathering Place and then when I felt comfortable to begin facilitating some of the groups on my own. The groups where ... Since the May 1996 incident, David Breashears has been busy doing what he came to Everest in the first place to do, film. It took years for Breashears to decide to make a documentary about what happened. • 6. Google And The Google Search Engine Essay Google s Rise to Prominence Want to find the answer to a difficult and complex linear algebra problem that seems unsolvable? Google it. Want to find out how to officially join Justin Bieber fan club? Google it. Want to find out who Justin Bieber is? Google it. Not long ago, people had to go to the library to search for information. Nowadays, people get their information from search engines through the Internet. Google has become the new library to quickly access information. If a question pops up in our head, we just have to Google it and we instantly get the answer. How did Google become so popular and successful? The Google search engine became popular because of its superior algorithm that produces quick and relevant search results. Google used its search engine s popularity to capitalize using ads called Adwords and AdSense. As a result, the Google search engine is the most successful and widely used search engine in history. The Google search engine was designed by two Stanford University graduates Larry Page and Sergey Brin. An article in St. James Encyclopedia of Popular Culture entitled Google summarizes the rise of Google s popularity in society. According to the article, Google was initially called BackRub, but was changed to Google in 1997; a mathematical term called googol, which is the numerical one followed by one hundred zeros. The term reflects Page and Brin s mission to organize a seemingly infinite amount of information on the web. In 1998, PC ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Benchmade Rivalry Analysis of Porters five industry forces on Benchmade Introducing a new product or service into a marketplace requires more than just a great idea. Companies are often enamored with new product ideas that would appear to be unlimited in its ability to capture a market. However, limits do exist and failure to properly conduct market research could lead to a failed product introduction. Enabling analysis of a market to determine the level of competition requires the use of Porter s five industry forces; the character of rivalry, the threat of new entrants, the threat of substitute products or services, the bargaining power of suppliers, and the bargaining power of buyers (Williams 2017). Rivalry among competitors is a normal part of the business environment and should be expected in any market. However, understanding the character of the rivalry, or how intense the behavior is of the companies competing in that industry, is the first of Porter s five industry forces (Williams 2017). As an example, in 1988 Benchmade Knife Company was founded by Les de Asis in California, producing fixed blade and folding knives. As a sporting knife manufacturer, Benchmade competitors included; Buck, KA BAR, Case, Gerber, Kershaw, Syderco, SOG, Columbia River Knife Tool (CRKT), Cold Steel. There were also many custom knife makers usually sold under the knifemakers name offering custom designs and handcrafted precision. • 8. Baseball Problems There s a problem coursing through baseball, and it goes well beyond Philadelphia Phillies manager Gabe Kapler choosing which reliever to use by throwing a dart. Attendance for Major League Baseball games is down 6.6 percent from this time last year, forecasting the third straight season of decline. While the popular excuse is to blame the downturn on early season washouts, Commissioner Rob Manfred recently told The Wall Street Journal he is concerned that there s something to it more than weather. In Philadelphia, attendance is actually up about three percent from 2017 to 24,855 per game. But considering the Phils are currently 15 games improved over their 22 47 record a year ago, this is no cause for smug satisfaction. Manfred is correct, of course. The national pastime has systemic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Three problems that I see, actually: 1. The sport has become too expensive While attending a Major League Baseball game remains cheaper than watching other sports, it has moved out of the range where heading to the park can be an impulse buy. The average Phillies ticket this season costs $36, according to the data tracking company Statista. While this is actually cheaper than last year, it still means that including parking, a few snacks, and a souvenir a family of four s visit to the ballpark will be a $250 hit. 2. Baseball lacks identifiable superstars The NBA has LeBron James, Steph Curry, and many others recognized just by their first name. The NFL has at least six quarterbacks famous to the world. Baseball has . . . uhh. Yes, Mike Trout is an amazing player. Clayton Kershaw and Max Scherzer may be all time greats. But, alas, none has any kind of national or international standing. A recent ESPN study of the 100 most famous athletes in the world included zero baseball players. We can fairly blame poor marketing, but the sport sorely needs players with the magnetic personalities of Ken Griffey, Jr., Randy Johnson, and Big ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

FRS 100 basically describes who does what with the new UK GAAP. It describes which principles apply to which type of business; when a business can apply the reduced disclosure framework; and when a business should follow a statement of recommended practices, or SORP. FRS 101 lays out a reduced disclosure framework for entities. Certain entities can choose to use this reduced disclosure framework while creating their financial statements. FRS 102... This act modified the methods for many different subjects, such as financial and non financial reporting, company communications with shareholders, and the responsibilities of company heads. The main role of the Act is to get managers to act in the best interests of shareholders. It additionally requires managers to think about the long term effects of decisions; the welfares of the business s staff; the business s connections alongside suppliers, clients, and others; and the impression of the company s procedures on the surrounding area. The Company Law Review Group was established by the government in 1998 in order to contemplate ways to modernize company law. The Company Law Review guidelines were the starting point for the modifications suggested by the Company Law Reform White Paper released in 2005. Then the White Paper proposals turned into an outline for a Bill, which then finally received official approval and passed in 2006, (companieshouse.gov.uk, 2014). Some of the main effects of the Companies Act on private companies are: an individual and simplified model of Articles of Association; individual requirements for accounting and reporting; no requirement for a company secretary; no requirement for an annual meeting; and simplified rules about share capital, (companieshouse.gov.uk, 2014). A lot of research has shown that single sex schools have a great deal of advantages for students. For example, on the whole, girls and boys who are educated in single sex schools gain more confidence than their coed peers. In addition, they make academic gains above those in co ed schools. They also learn to gravitate towards untraditional areas that are not always accepted for their gender. Single sex education also has fewer bullying reports and less distractions. All of this may be true, yet there are still people who think that single sex schooling promotes poor social skills and sexisim. Carbon dating and other methods that can be used were further explained during this lecture. Other aspects of archeology were also better elaborated during the talk as well. A second way of finding out an artifact s date can be Potassium argon dating which can be used to date extremely old artifacts up to 100,000 years old. The last method he explained was Obsidian hydration dating which is used on artifacts made from volcanic glass. One thing that got my attention were the machines they used to find their legitimacy, date, and so on and one of them was a SEM EDS, scanning electron microscopy with x ray microanalysis. It is an electron beam that scans across a sample s surface. After it scans completely it produces an image or a sample s elemental composition. The 3 signals that provide the most information in the SEM are the secondary electrons, backscattered electrons, and X rays. • 15. The Key Concepts Of The United States Recognition And... 2.1 Key concepts De facto states: From the Greek polis to nowadays sovereign state, the concept of state has changed and evolved during time. Today, the 1933 Montevideo Convention sets the rights and duties of state. Each sovereign state as a person of international law should possess the following qualifications: (a) permanent population; (b) defined territory; (c) government; and (d) capacity to enter into relations with the other states. By contrast, a de facto state is, a secessionist entity capable of delivering governmental services while maintaining effective control over a given population and territory (Pegg 1998). Yet, if de facto states fulfil, the first three criteria mentioned above, they have usually a limited capacity to enter in relation with other states, precisely, because they are denied official existence through non recognition. The ultimate goal of these states is to achieve recognition and constitutional independence (Lynch 2004). The recognition act can be seen or used as a discretionary power (of sovereign states) mainly of a political nature. However, the criteria defined by the convention are very limitative, and oversee only official status, not the way a state functions or should function. In another word, what technically, differentiate de facto state vis Г vis of any other sovereign state is related to the fulfilment of the last criterion. Hence, if the key element is the recognition, one may wonder why this recognition seems hard to obtain. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

All these religions are based on a strong belief system and a set of cultural practices that are aimed to provide meaning to life. Criteria to determine a religious life One of the biggest criterion for determining a religious life is the presence of a strong faith in a particular God. Though each religion follows a different God, there is nevertheless a common belief in the existence and power of God. This strong faith in God induces people to lead a moral life. This was the first thing I ever heard about the supreme global power of the 21st century, and my definition of immigration has been expanding since then. Being an immigrant myself, I had the opportunity to gain several first hand experiences in the processes of migration and assimilation in a host society. Although the benefit of being a second generation migrant eased my transition than that of many first generation migrants, the culture I brought with me from India, my home country, did not fail to shape my life in the US. Culture implants moral values in one s personality directing the cognitive pathways towards decision making, which ultimately influence life goals and attainment of those goals too. This influence of culture is conspicuous in the differences observed in the realizations of the American dream among different ethnic groups, representing different cultural backgrounds. In this ethnography, I take a deeper look at the migration perspectives of a first generation Indian migrant to the US named Krishna, who was able to achieve the American dream. Belonging to one of the most successful immigrant groups in the US, i.e. the Indians, Krishna possesses a relatively positive stance towards his migration experience compared to the most immigrant stories of suffering that come to the limelight in the society. The Issue Of Horse Slaughter In today s world dogs may very well be considered man s best friend, but in the days of old horses weren t just man s best friend, they were the most important tool in his possession. From being a form transportation to being used in competitions and battles to even being a source of food, horses have always been an iconic figure in American history. Movies such as The Horse Whisperer, Dreamer, and Flicka portray horses as majestic and powerful creatures full of grace and beauty that are much more of a companion than a tool. This is quite possibly why the topic of horse slaughter has been such a taboo in today s culture. While in many countries around the world horsemeat is considered a type of delicacy, to most American s the idea of eating these exquisite creatures is hard to stomach. There are people who see no wrong in slaughtering horses just like any other livestock animal, though others find it inhumane and cruel. Those who are pro slaughter have many practical and economic reasons for supporting it, while those opposed have ethical issues against it. Proponents of the horse slaughter industry suggest it creates a source of income for many horse owners. Horses are very expensive to own with the average annual cost of a horse being approximately $3,876 per horse (Williams). This Guest Post Essay This guest post was written by Sarah Anderson. flag With all that s happened in the turning tides of the political climate in Washington DC, I find a misquote of an original Albert Einstein quote to be appropriate: Everything should be as simple as it can be, but not simpler. It s obvious we live in a divisive time. But lately I ve started to wonder if we live in an oversimplified one as well. I wonder if our heightened emotions have mistakenly led us to believe things were much more straightforward then they are. We feel so passionately about so much. And the louder our voices get, the deeper our convictions go. We are certain unity is possible. (If only the other side who could begin to see things our way.) It s simple. But it s not. For me, at least. And feeling this way has led to me feeling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And that s okay. Still, it does make it more lonely. But the thing is, I m not convinced I am the only one. I think there are a lot of us. At least I hope there are. I hope there is an undercurrent of insurgents who are not allowing a political party to determine where we belong and what we believe. Who see the humanity in those who take the same positions we do, and in those who are bitterly opposed. Who believe to simplify the cause is to undermine the cause. And that to reduce the issues to the lowest common denominator is to reduce the personhood of those who don t agree with us. We are the new revolutionaries who know that nothing is as simple as it appears, that things are more murky than maybe either side feels comfortable admitting, and that the act of not belonging anywhere is in and of itself belonging and taking a stand somewhere. This too takes courage, self reflection, and conviction. We are not copping out, selling out, or flaking out. We are leaning in, we are tuning in, and we are giving in to something larger than our need to feel comfortable. We are learning to live in the in between. So. Is anyone with ... • 34. Essay on Cannabis Legalization Cannabis Legalization Discuss: Cannabis is no more harmful than tobacco or alcohol and should, therefore, be legalised. There has recently been much debate in the media about the decriminalisation of cannabis, both for recreational and medicinal use. This topic has proved controversial especially in political circles. Drawing on evidence from recent press reports, research on the web and recent publications, this essay will assess the evidence of how harmful cannabis really is. In 1971 Cannabis was reclassified by parliament and became a schedule 1 drug. This means that it was viewed as having no medicinal value. In 2002, Cannabis was reclassified again as a Class C drug meaning that it is seen as less harmful in comparison to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He argues that cannabis use is no more dangerous than alcohol and tobacco, suggesting that the legal effects can have further far reaching consequences on users if they are caught. He explains that, People who are prosecuted for possession of cannabis may have their livelihoods destroyed for the use of a compound which has less adverse consequences than alcohol and tobacco. However, there are many critical responses to these views. Studies such those published by the BMJ demonstrate that there are two main problems with long term cannabis use. One problem is that cannabis usage over time damages mental health and has negative physical consequences much like those of nicotine. On the other side of the coin cannabis use can have indirect consequences in terms of the wider population. The British Medical Journal (1996) featured an article suggesting that women had a five fold increase in comparison with men in reporting of depressive episodes after smoking cannabis. This suggests that gender has an effect on reactions to cannabis. It also suggests that there may be differences in terms of reporting the effects of cannabis based on gender, with men perhaps being less keen to report any negative reactions due to stereotypes based on gender. Additionally episodes of psychosis have also been related to cannabis which indicates that cannabis may not be as harmless as some suggest. A recent Guardian ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For example, DeS imone Harris (1998:3) make the comment that Human Resource Development is a relatively new term, but not a new concept . McGoldrick and Stewart (1996:1) tell us that HRD is a relatively new concept that has yet to become fully established and accepted, either within professional practice or as a focus of academic enquiry. • 37. Shankman s View Of War Shankman discusses the view of the war, and the sinking of the Maine, from the perspective of the Methodist church. Throughout the church there was varying opinions of the explosion and the war itself. Some people believed that the war would be necessary, while others believed there was no need for a war. IN an editorial from a New York Methodist newspaper in April 1898: Should we now go to war, insisted the Syracuse Northern Christian Advocate, our cause will be just, and Methodismwill be ready to do its full duty. Every Methodist preacher will be a recruiting officer (Shankman, 1973). However, in the south, the Southern Christian Advocate pushed for people to help send aid to the Cubans that are refugees and on the island; some groups even set up soup kitchens and churches donated some money as charity. These opinions helped spread the divide after the attack on the Maine: Generally, the Methodist press advised that rash accusations were unjust and foolish. The Nashville Christian Advocate suspected that the explosion had been the work of a misguided Spaniard or resulted from a fire on the Maine, and it thought that all premature judgments on the cause of the sinking did more harm than good. (Shankman, 1973) That view did not last long, by April 14 it was believed that the sinking of the USS Maine was not a mere accident, The Atlanta Wesleyan Christian Advocate first believed that Spanish perfidy had caused the catastrophe but later decided some hotheads ... • 38. The Objectification Of Women By Kenneth Clark For centuries, the objectification of women has become the norm, forever portraying them as submissive and passive for the benefit of the male gaze. Eternally capsulated in a world, perfected, unanimously the viewer and viewed alike. Jenny Saville defies expectations in creating the female nude with herself as both subject and painter. Taking on the roles given to women by men and making them her own, Saville elevates the status of women by making them their own judge of beauty. Kenneth Clark, a renowned art historian of his time, believed to create a form of art, the nude must be reformed and not directly recorded from life. In doing so, scouring away all evidence of the womanbefore the painting, before being perfected. Propped is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To achieve this, the body must be abstracted, becoming a process of designing the ideal figure through mutating and etching away any flaws of the sitter. [The nude is] a balance, prosperous, and confident body: the body reformed (1956:3) conveying that a woman must be scoured of all imperfections to be confident in her own right. However, Saville contradicts this by almost aggressively painting her flaws, baring herself to all and reviling in her own nakedness. Proving further the empowerment, a woman can feel upon taking control of how others perceive her. Yet, Saville s pride in her state of nakedness is condemned to vanity, not allowing her to feel entitled to the entity of her body. Berger agrees, calling out men for their hypocrisy in moulding women to view themselves being viewed all to justify the creation of the female nude. Morally condemning the woman whose nakedness you have depicted for your own pleasure (1972:51), Berger calls into question the male gaze and the liberties men have taken in portraying women nude, only for them to be shamed in their nakedness. Setting into motion the trend that women are to be ashamed of their body without clothes. Clark further creates insecurities, conveying to women that to be naked is to be deprived of clothes...embarrassment most of us feel in that condition (1956:3). Furthermore, to be ... • 40. Political Climate In Public Administration In 1932, in response to the economic depression, President Franklin D. Roosevelt, promised the people a new deal. The new deal was intended to provide much needed relief, recovery, and reform to the American people, by seeking to stabilize the economy and provide jobs to those who were suffering. It forced a change in the structure of American governmentand pushed it to play a bigger role in the financing of social programs. This new reform changed how government functioned at the state and federal levels and introduced new ideas of centralization, management, planning, efficiency measurement, and new forms of social programs. It was during this time, that management in the U.S., was recognized as its own discipline and introduced the political approach to public administration. • 41. Challenges Faced By Ethnic Minority Supervisors Challenges Faced By Ethnic Minority Supervisors in Clinical Supervision Personal Preparation My specialization paper will focus on the challenges faced by ethnic minority supervisors in clinical supervision. My paper is guided by the courses I took in the doctoral program, my personal experience as a supervisor and the gaps in literature review that motivated me to pursue this area of research. In the past two and a half years of my doctoral program, I took courses (advanced clinical supervision, advanced family counseling, and independent research in multicultural counseling supervision, multicultural literature for children and adolescents, and a course on survey design in educational research) to help me better understand the cross cultural supervision and different challenges supervisor s face in cross cultural supervision. These courses helped me to look into how ethnicity and clinical supervision are related at a much deeper level, and how same/different ethnicity of supervisors and supervisee affect the supervision process. The UF doctoral program has given me a unique opportunity to supervise many supervisees from cultures (Chinese, Taiwanese, Hispanic, African American, and White Caucasian American) different than mine. As a result, I have experienced some challenges as a supervisor in the supervisory relationship that taught me how speaking about ones culture shapes the supervisory alliance.
