Thomas Hobbes Childhood
One of today s most famous philosopher, political scientist and historian was Thomas Hobbes, born in
Westport, England on April 5th, 1588. Even though his name was well heard of, his childhood was
almost completely unknown. Thomas Hobbes had an older brother, Edmund, and a younger sister
whose name was unknown. Thomas Hobbes Sr., the father of the three children, got in a fight with the
local church and was forced to abandon his kids and leave Westport. The three children were then left
in the care of their father s brother, Francis. Thomas Jr. started school at age four at Malmesbury
School and later transferred to a private school kept by Robert Latimer. He attended Oxford
University for college and began to study political philosophy.

Dreikur Vs Adler
This paper will compare and contrast positive discipline between Alfred Adler and Rudolph Dreikurs
to that of Peggy Drexler s view that children should not be shamed during discipline. They all agree
there are great advantages to positive discipline. The most important advantage is it helps develop
children into self disciplined adults. Another advantage is that it nurtures stronger relationships
between the parent and child, which allows the child a better understanding of their parents feelings. It
also helps reduce power struggles between a child and his/her parents.
Alfred Adler and Rudolph Dreikurs, both psychologists who shared the same beliefs to positive
discipline. Adler s work is known as Adlerian psychology, which emphasizes the goal of belonging
and significance in all individuals, and the need for kindness and firmness ... Show more content on

Drexler believes it s important to recognize discipline is not the same as punishment. Discipline is
necessary. Punishment is not (Psychology). Adler and Dreikurs agree parents who punish their
children for negative behavior, rather than recognize them for their positive behavior, only lead to the
child misbehaving even more. Children tend to respond better when a parent first tells them how they
feel. This allows the child to connect with the parent. Once you have that connection, you can get into
the discipline. When the child has a better understanding of how the parent feels, they usually don t
repeat their bad behavior.
They all agree positive discipline calls for the need for kindness and firmness at the same time
(Carroll). Drexler believes many kids will act out as a cry for attention or for firmer limits
(Psychology). This doesn t mean punishment because that only makes the child feel bad, which leads
to them acting out even more. Eventually, leading to a power struggle between the parent and the

Literary Analysis Of The Thing In The Forest
The literary device that is going to be used to pair up with the primary context is Symbolism. In the
Story The Thing in the Forest, there is plenty of symbolism in this short story. The whole story is
essentially a symbol. There are plenty of objects in this story that have a very different meaning,
referencing to the time period in the piece of literature. In The Thing in the Forest there is a great deal
of symbolism. For example the whole story is a symbol for the war going on at that time, WWII. In
the story it talks about how the girls and a number of other children went on a train to escape the cities
that were most likely being hit hard by the war. There are two girls that have plenty of different
meanings to them that can mean so many things, the house that they were at for a while, and of course
the thing that also has many meanings to it.
In The Thing in the Forest, let s start off with the beginning of the story. In the second paragraph it
talks about Penny and Primrose, the main characters in the story. It describes the girls very precisely,
Penny was thin and dark and taller, possibly older, than Primrose, who was plump and blond and
curly. Primrose had bitten nails, and velvet collar on her dressy green coat. Penny had a bloodless
transparent paleness, a touch of blue in her fine lips. (Byatt 325). The symbolism in this sentence can
mean that Penny had an imaginary friend, which was Primrose, that possibly died. We can infer this
because the author

Low Voter Turnout In The United States
2014 Midterm Elections Low Voter Turnout
Essentially, vigorous voter turnout is very paramount to a healthy economy. In most cases, low turnout
is attributed to low participation in political issues and the misguided notion that voting in one
candidate will have less impact on public policy. In the United States, voter participation keeps on
fluctuating which has been an area of concern especially in midterm elections. More specifically, the
2014 midterm election reported the lowest voter participation in a period of more than seven decades.
This paper delves into analyzing the reasons for the low voter turnout in 2014 midterm elections in the
United States. The paper will also provide recommendations on how voter turnout may be increased in
the 2016 general elections.
The 2014 midterm voter turnout was considerably low owing to a number of reasons. One possible
reason attributed to the low voter turnout is disillusionment with the leading party. Data collected from
exit polls indicated that about 54 percent of citizens were opposed to President Barack Obama
performance as the president(Ching, 2014). Further, 65% of them viewed the country as headed
towards the wrong direction. Most voters were dissatisfied with the Republicans leaders and lacked
confidence in the government to do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This would be meant to give a conviction to the potential voters that they are indeed different and they
can provide practical solutions. It is also the responsibility of the Americans to oppose voter
suppression attempts among other aspects. This would be through demanding an automatic voter
registration. Furthermore, voters should pressure the candidates to put forward visions that are of
benefit to the middle and the lower class. Practically, people would participate in politics more in
politics if they feel that the government plays a more beneficial role in their lives(Lerner,

Michael Crichton s Jurassic Park
Matthew Dean
Title of book: Jurassic Park Author: Michael Crichton
1.
The point of view in this novel was the third person point of view. I believe the author chose this point
of view so he could tell everybody s story and not have to stick with one single storyline of one person
s account of what was happening because that would have made the book very confusing to follow
with in my opinion.
2.
The protagonist in Jurassic Park is Dr. Alan Grant. He s the protagonist because he is the guy I was
rooting for when everything was happening and the guy who seems to play the Hero type role during
the story once things started to go south.
The books antagonist is Dennis Nedry because things were going ... Show more content on

Ellie Sattler: Dr. Alan Grant s partner.
3.
I relate to Dr. Alan Grant the most in the story because he appears to be a very grounded character,
regardless of his position with his intellectual superiority or even if he s being chased by dinosaurs, he
seems to stay humble for the most part and I feel like that s a value that I would like to have just like
this character and is why I can relate to him.
4.
The story of Jurassic Park begins when a handful of people get mauled by what appears to be a
dinosaur/raptor type creature, and it turns out that the creature that did the maulings was a part of John
Hammonds company and business investment, International Genetic Technologies, which is
Hammonds attempt at making a huge profit by having a theme park designed around dinosaurs in their
natural habitats. However things go horribly wrong when a computer analyst Dennis Nedry makes a
deal with a rival genetic engineering company Biosyn to steal his own employers dinosaur embryos.
His master plan starts by shutting off the power to the park to override the security systems but in the
end he only ends up releasing the parks attractions, the dinosaurs. So as you could probably guess pure
mayhem ensues as the characters attempt to escape the park, and the island it is on. Then the book
ends with the park, and island being blown up, but saying that there has been sightings of reptilian
bird like creatures running through the woods in packs deep in the jungles of costa

Balanced Scorecard And Malcolm Baldrige Performance...
Balanced Scorecard and Malcolm Baldrige Performance Excellence Program Comparison
Merriam Webster defines quality as a degree of excellence, or a distinguishing attribute. Managers
strive for excellence in the workplace to improve customer satisfaction, increase the output in
manufacturing while minimizing defects, as well as making the company more profitable. There are
several different management systems or methodologies available for businesses to use, but the
Balanced Scorecard and the Malcolm Baldrige Performance Excellence Program is the most common
and widely used in the United States.
The Balanced Scorecard Institute reports that in the 1950 s General Electric was the first to use the
Balanced Scorecard approach, but it was not until the 1990 s when Dr. Robert Kaplan a Harvard
Business School professor and Dr. David Norton officially titled it the Balanced Scorecard. Once used
as only a measurement tool for organizations, it is now a complete strategic planning and management
system (Balanced Scorecard Institute, n.d.). Originally, businesses looked at the financial reports to
distinguish whether it was a quality company or not. Kaplan and Norton however believed the
financial reports only showed past history and an organization must also track how it is performing
currently and look at ways to constantly improve future performance. Kaplan and Norton established
there are four business segments or perspectives to measure and make improvements on. The four
segments

Boarding House Manipulation
o The motif of manipulation is seen everywhere throughout The Boarding House. The owner of the
house, Ms. Mooney, is the main manipulator. She is the person in charge at the house and because of
this she earns the name the Madam by the house s employees and guests. In the beginning of the story
the reader learns that Ms. Mooney has suffered through a difficult marriage with a drunken husband
and that she opened the Boarding House to generate income to support herself and her two children,
her son Jack and her daughter Polly. The house is full of clerks, as well as tourists and other types of
male guests. Polly also use to work in the city in an office but moved back to the house to work there
and be with her mother. Over time, Polly develops a relationship with one of the guests, Mr. Doran.

Ms. Mooney knows that Mr. Doran has confessed (like literally confessed to a priest) that he is having
an affair with Polly so she uses this to her advantage and corners him into offering his hand in
marriage to her daughter. Mr. Doran soon realizes that there is no way to remain free and unmarried to
Polly without having his reputation ruined so Ms. Mooney wins in a way. Ms. Mooney s nickname is a
key indicator of her manipulative manner. The name Madam connotes the head of a prostitution ring,
and in a way Ms. Mooney is selling her daughter. She convinces this man to bring her daughter up in
the classes through the use of her daughter. She uses her daughter to bring down Mr. Doran s
reputation (because he would be marrying beneath his class) to bring up her daughter s. While doing
this she is also getting rid of her needy daughter at the same time. So for Ms. Mooney, it s a win win
situation. Manipulation is also seen through Polly when she enters the room as Mr. Doran is getting
ready to meet with her mother. She confesses bad thoughts when she says that she would put an end to
herself (Joyce

Meaning Mishaps and the Nature of Art Essay
Have you ever been confused about the purpose or meaning behind a certain piece of art? In my
opinion, art is viewed many different ways. The artist will create a piece of art with a certain intended
meaning, but it will most likely not be viewed in that way. When a spectator views a piece of art, they
take into account their past experiences, and since everyone has gone through different things, their
interpretations are different, as you can imagine. The nature of art is created when the artist intends
one thing, but the spectator sees the art differently; and therefore changes the meaning when they
spread their personal opinions.
Pop culture has always played a very strong role in society. However, with all the advancements and

scary stories that have to do with Facebook, and most mainly fear that their teens aren t going to be

may cause outrage in some parents. They may seem strict, but really, they are just looking out for what
they think is best. This is why most parents are strongly Anti Facebook. In the end, it all comes down
to one major group that contributes to the ideas of both views, and this is society in itself. Basically

used as a source to target people, or as an excuse to get out of responsibilities. He really didn t want
any of this to happen, but because it does, people automatically blame him. This is totally the opposite
effect that he intended. [Facebook s] whole theory is that people have real connections in

What Does The Chrysanthemums Symbolism
The story The Chrysanthemums by John Steinbeck, like many stories by this author, is loaded with
symbolism and concepts about human nature. Each description of characters, places, and physical
aspects is written in a way that is simple to understand, but one should not be tricked by his ordinary
words since there is always a greater meaning behind them. In this particular story, if one considers
the period of time when the story was written, which was the nineteen thirties, is perceived how
Steinbeck presents the readers with an uncommon matter that not many writers wrote about. That
matter, being, the topic of women and their sexuality, which is the main focus of the story, in a time
when a woman s life is dominated by men and as a consequence, many women are deprived of their
personal, social and sexual fulfillment. These deprivations in a woman s life are illustrated within the
descriptions and events that occur around the primary symbol in this story, the flower chrysanthemum,
which as the story advances, reveals itself to symbolize Elisa s femininity, her fulfillment as a woman
and even her.
Elisa s masculine descriptions such as her face being lean and strong, her body being blocked and
heavy, and the man s black hat that she is wearing, which in a way, they hide the feminine side of her,
but in another way they also emphasize how she could be doing a different, or more challenging, job
in her life than just cultivating flowers. In the story, she is more

Objective
In the survey that we did, we found out that most of the people think Mini Cooper as a car of fun. The
problem is that generally Mini is associated with young people. We want to change that point of view.
It is a kind of stereotyping when someone says Mini is a young people s car and it is for fun. That s
why our goal to be accomplished with this program is to attract new customers regardless of their age
range. We can do this by increasing awareness and reposition the Mini brand. We want to increase
awareness because we want our potential new customers to be aware of what the company and
product stands for. Once we accomplish to attract their awareness and reposition the brand, we want
them to have the perception, which we tried to accomplish, of what our brand is. Our communication
objective is therefore perception. We want Mini to be perceived as a car that can be driven by anyone
from any age range and not a car for only young people to use.
Target Audience
In this section, we will analyze the target audience of Mini Cooper and will try to picture
characteristics of its target market.
Financial crises have hit the world economics quite negatively and passenger s car segment has been
influenced to a great extent. Sales have dropped for more than double and needs of customers have
been directed towards motorcycle markets. Yet, as mentioned in the Annual Report of the company in

The Impact Of Divorce On The Family
The words from the Bible, therefore, what God has joined together, let no man separate have been
habitually used during weddings throughout history. Stepping into the 21st century, those words have
not been faithfully lived up to, evident through the numerous counts of divorces in society. Divorce
can be defined as the legal dissolution of a marriage by a court order and in this generation, is seen as
the norm. Apart from race, other major predictors of divorce include age at marriage, education,
premarital births and religion. (Bartolic, Martin, White, 2013). Divorce often tends to be thought of in
a monolithic way, as if everyone who gets a divorce goes through the same process. The impact of
divorce on the well being of children have been notoriously viewed with a negative lens for many
years due to possible risk factors that may affect children and their upbringing as they navigate
through life as their parents separate. However, families have the ability to strengthen and bounce
back even stronger with more knowledge through these experiences. This paper thoroughly discusses
the impacts of divorce and its effects on family structure and the ways in which families can
collectively work together to overcome crises and be resilient. This includes the many protective
factors that help families overcome their challenges and adversities such as positive social
interactions, personal protective factors, and belief systems in which all of these aspects encompass

Racism Articles On Racism
A case of a solar eclipse metaphor gone terribly, terribly wrong has become a conservative talking
point about the left and racism.
Last week, the Atlantic reprinted a Democracy: A Journal of Ideas article, which attempted to make a
hard to parse point about race in America in the context of the solar eclipse. The thesis of the article
was that the regions experiencing the total eclipse are mostly inhabited by white people and also
America has a history of racism.
It was quickly picked up by far right pundits and conservative media as the left s attempt to make
everything about racism. Here s Infowars Alex Jones tweeting about it:
The left wants you to think #SolarEclipse2017 is racist. RT if you disagree! https://t.co/wd2Hq8m8ld

The Cross Cultural Communication Issues
On the whole, this paper will identify four other major possible cross cultural issues as analysed
below.
First, the cross cultural communication issue may arise and there are mainly 3 factors contributing to
the communication barriers in such case.
For starters, the factor of culture difference (Moslehpour et al. 2016) present itself. As given in the
case study, both of the SSSL executives and Saran are all from India, but the target Qatari market and
the people, including both Sheikhs and host country nationals, that they have to deal with, share the
Islamic culture or Arab culture, which distinctly differ from India s religious belief Hinduism or
Buddhism culture.
In the next place, the factor of perception difference and experience difference (Beeber et al. 2014)
may occur as a result of culture differences. Since culture can influence the way people perceive
things and usually lead to diverse life events among individuals (Nisbett and Miyamoto 2005), people
from Qatar and India may have different solutions and reactions to the same problem in the future. At
the minimum, conflicts or stereotyping may occur among the host country nationals and expatriates; at
the maximum, the major decisions regarding the development and future direction of this partnership
business for both sides chief executives may go separate ways.
All three major differences outlined above interactively influence the cross cultural communication
process by creating noise (Francesco and

How An Accelerometer Works, One Must First Understand The...
Introduction
To understand how an accelerometer works, one must first understand the concept of vibration. One
example of vibration is sound. When an object vibrates and creates a disturbance in a medium, it
creates a sound wave. The sound wave travels in sinusoidal form with certain frequencies. This affect
was observed in this experiment with a guitar string, a motor, and a cell phone. The vibration of these
systems can be measured with an accelerometer. The accelerometer converts mechanical acceleration
to an electric signal.
To record the data measured by the accelerometer, the DAQ system LabVIEW was used. LabVIEW
collected the time and frequency data from the plucked guitar string. An important aspect of the DAQ
system is the sample rate, or the number of measurements it can make in a certain amount of time. It is
an important parameter because without a high enough sample rate, highly dynamic behavior may not
be recorded. Another problem with using an insufficient sampling rate is aliasing which is the
misinterpretation of high frequency signals as lower frequency components. To prevent this, the
sample frequency must be twice the highest frequency. Any signal in the system that is above the
Nyquist frequency, which is half the sampling frequency, is subject to aliasing, or false frequency
measurement. This means that the data is only reliable up to half of the sampling frequency. However,
a sample rate that is too high leads to difficult data processing and noise

Liquid Chromatography Lab
Chromatography is a technique used to separate a mixture of compounds for analytical or preparative
purposes. In liquid chromatography, the mixture of compounds is dissolved in a liquid mobile phase
and then travels through a stationary phase, which acts as the adsorbent. Solute molecules interact
with the stationary phase through adsorption and desorption. A compound which has stronger
interactions with the stationary phase will move slower than a compound with weaker interaction with
the stationary phase. The components of a mixture are separated based on their differences in mobility.
Usually the stationary phase is a polar porous compound, such as silica gel, which has a large surface
area and hydroxyl groups, giving it the ability to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ortho hydroxyacetophenone travelled higher up the silica gel TLC plate than its para counterpart
because ortho was less polar and formed fewer interactions with the silica gel adsorbent. Ortho
hydroxyacetophenone formed intramolecular hydrogen bonds between its carbonyl and hydroxyl
groups. Para hydroxyacetophenone formed intermolecular hydrogen bonds with its carbonyl and
hydroxyl group. P hydroxyacetophenone was more polar, so it travelled a shorter distance up TLC
plate due to its many interactions with polar silica gel. Polar compounds have stronger dipole dipole
interactions which require more energy and higher temperatures to melt, accounting for p
hydroxyacetophenone s high melting point. Unknown #16 contained the compounds acetaminophen,
caffeine, and acetylsalicylic acid. The distances acetylsalicylic acid and ibuprofen travelled along the
silica gel plate were very similar, but since the Rf value of the unknown was closer to acetylsalicylic
acid than to ibuprofen, it was determined that acetylsalicylic acid was one of the unknown
compounds. Since ibuprofen and acetylsalicylic acid travelled the greatest distance up the TLC plate,

The Rise of Islamic Fundamentalism in Iran Essay
The Rise of Islamic Fundamentalism in Iran
Over the course of the last century, the Islamic Republic of Iran (formerly known as Persia) has seen
colonialism, the end of a dynasty, the installation of a government by a foreign power, and just over
three decades ago, the popular uprising and a cleric led revolution. These events preceded what could
be considered the world s first Islamic state, as politics and fundamentalist religion are inextricably
linked in contemporary Iran. Looking at Iran from the mid 1940 s until the present day, one can trace
the path that led to the rise of fundamental Islam in Iran in three distinct periods. The first is that
which began with the rise of secular nationalism and the decline of Islam. In ... Show more content on

In a classic case of western countries meddling in the foreign affairs of a sovereign nation for their
own national interests, the American CIA and British intelligence conspired to topple the
democratically elected government in 1953. They succeeded in restoring the exiled Pahlavi dynasty to
power by installing Reza Shah Pahlavi s son, Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi as the Shah of Iran. After
taking office, Muhammad Reza Shah Pahlavi continued and expanded upon a policy of westernization
begun by his father and aggressively repressed Iran s fundamental Islamists to consolidate his power.
The Pahlavi dynasty s restoration fostered anger among the citizens, as Muhammad Reza Shah
Pahlavi was seen as a western puppet and therefore a more contemporary extension of the humiliating
colonialism endured at the hands of the west. Fostering women s rights, western dress, toleration of
alcohol and the suppression of Islamic customs, traditions and clothing all served to earn him the ire
of the general population and Islamic clerics. Milton Edwards (2006) referred to this accelerated
secularism (p. 37) as being part of the erosion of religious elements in Iran. Muhammad Reza Shah
Pahlavi thought himself loved by the people, but popular sentiment was against him; and completely
behind an exiled Iranian cleric living in Paris named Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. Ayatollah

The Literature On Women s World
rstly review the literature on women andindustrialisation world widely. However, as the routes to and
features of industrialisation are very different in the developed countries and the developing ones (see
Butschek, 2006; Stoneburner and Angelos, 2005; Myrdal, 1970), the following review will have a
greater focus on the developing countries, which have more comparative value to China. It offers both
a theoretical framework and a bigger context for china s case to stand against.
1. 1 To be or not to be?
Industirialisation normally refers to the process by which economy becomes more dependent on
factory production and concentration of industries (DHG, 2013; BD, no date). For many countires,
industrialisation has been taken as an important path to economic growth (Kaplinsky, 1998, p.3). In
the pre industrialisation era, women s work had been home based and largely seasonal that agreed by
most researchers (McBride, 1977, p.282; ). But the role of women in industrialisation appeared to be a
controversial issue as early as the start of industrialisation.
For some researchers, women had been excluded from the industrialisation process, for not only
biological reasons but also social reasons (Outram, 2013; Ogilvie, 1990; McBride,1977). First, the
traditional ways to industrialised production by mechanisation and manufacture (The Economists,
2012; Hughes, 1968) unfavours women, as biologically women are considered weaker than men in
strength. Moreover, the subordination of

such, the competitive forces are the power of suppliers, power of buyers, threats of substitutes, threats

However, analysis of gross profit margins suggested Apple earned 33 cents per dollar of sales, while
Google and Microsoft outperformed Apple, with each retaining 61 percent of sales. Nevertheless, all
three firms received high marks regarding market competitiveness and brand awareness as each

Rape As A Weapon Of War
Being a part of a global community comes with many responsibilities and duties. People of the global
community have to be aware of the dangers that are present in the lives of many people all over the
globe. Human Rights issues are quite serious and violations of these rights should not be taken lightly.
In exploration of a global human rights issue, the discovery of rape as a tool in war was a gross
violation of human rights as well as overwhelmingly a gender issue. Rape used as a tool of war has
devastated and destroyed people, communities, families, and traditions. When discussing rape as
weapon of war, there are two main modern day conflicts that can not be overlooked. Rape as a weapon
of war is brought into light by the wars of Congo and Bosnia. These two conflicts brought the eyes of
the world onto the global issue of rape in war and more specifically how it is used as a tool of
ethnocide and genocide. The recent conflict in the Congo has been rooted in the 1994 Rwandan
Genocide and related violence in Burundi which saw hundreds of thousands of Hutus flee both
countries into eastern Zaïre. (First and Second) In the Rwandan genocide, Hutu power groups (called
the Interahamwe and the Impuzamugambi) led mass killings of Tutsis and pro peace Hutus, murdering
800,000 people in approximately 100 days. (Congo) In response, the Tutsi led Rwandan Patriotic
Front, or RPF, overthrew the Rwandan Hutu government.
During and after the genocide, an estimated 2 million refugees,

Essay on Cultural Impact of the Railway of Victorian England
Introduction
At the beginning of the industrial revolution in England during the mid nineteenth century, the railroad
was the most innovative mode of transportation known. The British Rail system was a forerunner in
railroad technology, uses, and underground engineering. Though the rail system was extremely slow at
first and prohibitively expensive to build and run, the British were not to be dissuaded in their pursuit
of non animal driven transportation. The most advanced mode of transportation prior to the
introduction of the rail system was the horse drawn omnibus on a track, called a tram. This paper will
examine the rail system from a cultural perspective, presenting the impact the railway had on
everyday lives in Victorian London ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some samples of letters, also taken from Jack Simmons book, exemplify the drama of riding the
railroad:
You skim along like magic. We drove to the railway office at Warrington a short mile from the town
where we took our seats in a machine; for it was one continued machine although having the
appearance of 3 regular coaches and three divisions of seats like those in a coffee room the coaches
not open at the top the seats were. (Simmons 21)
Another writer(1) quoted in Simmons wrote, On my return to Chester I visited Liverpool [in 1836]
and traveled from thence, for curiosity, a few miles towards Manchester on that then novel mode of
conveyance, a railroad. (Simmons 23) As fascinated as the public was with the railroad, it was also
exasperated by the poor service, (train arrival times were never announced and there were accidents
quite often), and the cost of riding. The train departure times were announced, but the arrival times
were never specified. To travel the length of 31 miles, the trip would take 1 3/4 hours. This rate of
travel was not a vast improvement from the 3 1/2 mile per hour train trip of the first railway. Also,
trains did not run between 9:00 am and 1:00 PM on Sundays out of respect for religious services.
During the time Dombey and Son takes place, railway mania was sweeping England. There were
numerous Parliamentary acts passed to regulate the new booming industry. To get a clear picture of
the magnitude of the mania,

The International Energy Agency is a Paris based autonomous intergovernmental organization, an
international energy forum under the Organization for Economic Development and Cooperation
(OECD) . Established in 1974, the IEA was developed by major oil consuming nations as a response
to the 1973 74 oil crisis, initially designed to help the country members coordinate a collective
response to major oil supply disruptions a role that continues to be fulfilled to this very day. Over time
the IEA has evolved and expanded and its current mandate includes: tracking and analyzing global key
energy trends, promoting sound energy policy, and fostering multinational energy technology
cooperation ( International Energy Agency ). This history research essay will explore the events
leading to the establishment of the International Energy Agency, delve deeper into 1973 1974 oil crisis
to which the oil dependent countries responded by creating the organisation, examine its history and
identify its current objectives.
Events Leading to the Creation of the IEA
The origins of the International Energy Agency can be traced all the way back to the period leading up
to the Middle East War crisis of 1973 1974 and the industrial countries response to that crisis, where
significant changes in economics and politics regarding the international oil market had occurred.
Major oil companies had extensive control over the world oil market for years so much that they were

License for restaurants and bars The author plans on opening up a nightclub, there are many different
types of licenses that the author needs to get in order to open the nightclub. Since it is a nightclub the
author will need a liquor license, entertainment license, dance license, extended hours license and
many others. The author wants to sell alcohol, to have live concerts, to let people dance, to stay
opened after 2 a.m. and other things. According to Jamie Zawinski, there are permits for almost
everything the author wants to have in her business.

1920 s According to Stuart Moss (2010), the first nightclubs started in the 1920 s. 1920 s was the time
post World War I, the nation was strong and business was booming. (Nightlife) During that time
selling alcohol was illegal and people were not accepting that new rule, therefore the name

The Appalachian Region
The Appalachian region is one of the most valuable areas of the United States. It is rich in many
natural aspects and is home to some of the hardest working citizens in this country. Unfortunately,
Appalachia is also home to a variety of harsh social problems including severe drug abuse and a
gripping poverty facing a large portion of Appalachian citizens. The two of these issues seem to go
hand in hand in many cases, so the solution of one could also lead to the solution of the other.
Appalachians have always had a history of handling their own problems, these drastic social problems
are no different.
The entire country is facing a serious drug abuse epidemic, and Appalachia sees the effects of this
epidemic as much or more than any other part of the country. As the coal industry dies, jobs are
disappearing much more quickly than new industries are able to replace the jobs that have been lost.
This is causing many Appalachian citizens to turn to other means of producing an income, whether
they are legal or not. One of the most popular sources of illegal income in Appalachia is the drug
trade, more specifically, the trade of prescription drugs. In the 1990s, many pharmaceutical companies
began aggressively marketing their new prescription drugs such as OxyContin and other prescription
pain killers to the citizens of Appalachia for the abundance of work related injuries from the
dangerous jobs they have done their entire lives. Heroin has also recently become a drug of choice

Extinction Of Dinosaurs Extinction
The extinction of dinosaurs could have been caused by many different things. One main reason that is
thought around the world is that dinosaurs went extinct because an asteroid fell onto earth at speeds
that are too fast for the human mind to even imagine. This idea was thought when and asteroid crater
was found near mexico. Also to support the facts many scientist found traces of rare metal onto the
earth s surface. This metal is not very common here but is really common in outer space. Today we
will be looking at why these huge creatures died of the face of the planet in just a matter of months.
One reason, these greatebeastes were exterminated was that they alter the asteroid hit the ground a
huge ball of dust and debris was sent into the earth. This dust covered the earth in just a matter of
hours. This was crucial to their extinction because the sun was blocked plants did not receive and sun
light and herbivorous ( plant eating animals) could not get any food from the plants because most of
the plants died. This was just one of the first reasons that the dinosaur race was wiped of this earth.
You may ask how big the asteroid had to be, well put it into perspective the asteroid was about the size
of 110 empire state buildings and had the weight of 211,000 empire states buildings put together. This
asteroid was the biggest asteroid to ever hit earth that we know of. This big of a hit throw 70 billion

Critical Analysis Of I Am Trying To Break Your Heart
Kevin Young s I am Trying to Break Your Heart examines the dark and chaotic nature of trying to heal
from emotional damage. Addressing a lover, the speaker uses twisted and macabre diction to describe
the dark feelings that brew within him. These sinister desires to harm the lover shine through in the
terse language and erratic structure, as well as. The 2008 poem alludes to a Wilco song of the same
name, wherein the speaker describes his heartache after leaving his lover and facing regret concerning
the situation. This is alluded to in stanzas 12 and 13 when Young writes ... I assassin / down the
avenue, (22 23) the second line of the song. Without taking note of this allusion, the poem would seem
as if Young is portraying himself as a manipulator seeking to gain power over his lover. But through
referencing the 2002 song I am Trying to Break Your Heart by Jeff Tweedy, Young clarifies his intent.
The poem is meant to illustrate the chaotic and destructive nature of healing from emotional damage,
showing how a love lost can leave an individual scarred and vengeful. Young begins the poem by
indirectly addressing his lover, saying I am hoping / to hang your head. This creates a dark tone from
the offset, implying that the speaker wants to harm the intended recipient of the poem. He then goes
on in the second stanza to say he would hang the lover s head on his wall in shame. This evokes an
image of taxidermy, which is meant to objectify and dehumanize the

Kami-No-Michi Religion
Shintoism, also known as kami no michi (or way of gods ) is an ancient Japanese religion, which
started at about 1000 BCE. This religious tradition is devoted to the worship of spiritual beings and
powers, called kami, as well as providing emphasis towards life in this world and the righteousness of
man. Ancient authoritative records of great significance, such as the Kojiki and the Nihongi, are based
on the Shinto religion.
According to the Kojiki, the kami were responsible for the creation of the world. Izanagi no mikoto,
the male who invites , and Izanami no mikoto, the female who invites , created other kami such as
Amaterasu (the Sun Goddess), Tsuki yomi (The Moon God), Susano o (The Storm God), and the

imminent nature as they dwell within human beings, with whom they are characterised as having a

are considered to be of sacred and divine nature.

This is an immoral act, which goes against the ethics of several religions and cultures. Legalizing
prostitution will be legalizing promiscuity, which destroys many families and brings about social
instability. This is because it threatens the marriage institution since most clients are married men.
This will degrade the society s morals, exposing children to immoral practices from a young age.
Legalizing prostitution can also lead to the spread of sexually transmitted diseases. The government
spends a lot of money to curb the sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV/AIDs epidemic. This
happens even when prostitution is illegal. Most individuals ignore the use of protection when having
sex with prostitutes. These prostitutes have multiple sex partners and thus they can act as a good route
of transmission for these diseases. Legalizing prostitution can also increase the instances of human

force young men and women into this practice. Other young people may choose this profession
because of hard economic situations. Thus, prostitution is not always a free choice for all the people

In the first part of the assignment we were asked to identify components of arguments, premise and
conclusion, for the passages. Where applicable we are to highlight key words or phrases that identify a
claim as a premise or a conclusion. A premise is the support for the conclusion. (Missimer, 2005) The
first example has several premises as follows if Sue s baby is a boy it will be named Mark and if it is a
girl it will be named Margaret. Another premise is that Sue will have a boy or girl. So is a keyword
indicating the conclusion that Sue s baby will be named Mark or Margaret. In the next example,
because is a keyword in the premise and indicates that the conclusion has preceded and a reason will
follow. This premise is that fantasy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the last part of the assignment we are asked to identify the arguments as inductive or deductive. An
argument is said to be deductive if its conclusion is claimed to necessarily follow the premise. An
inductive argument claims only that its conclusion probably follows from its premises. That is, the
inferential claim is that since the premises are true or acceptable, the conclusion is likely to be true or
acceptable. (Missimer, 2005) The first and second examples are inductive because even though the
premises may be true, it is still possible for the conclusion to be false. They will then have to be
looked at to see if they are strong or weak and if all premises are true or if one or more is false. We can
then determine if the argument is reliable or unreliable. The third example is a deductive argument if
we go by the definition above. If the premises are true then it simply isn t possible for the conclusion
to be false. If you have a deductive argument and you accept the truth of the premises, then you must
also accept the truth of the conclusion; if you deny it, then you are denying logic

Security Issues Facing Elementary Schools
The most substantial security issue facing elementary schools is the predictability of schedules.
Students, faculty, and even maintenance staff generally have the same schedule every week if not
every day. Therefore, if there were a potential attacker looking to launch an assault on a public school,
it would be very easy for him or her to target a particular time and place in which most of the school s
members would be. Additionally, if a perpetrator were looking for a specific individual, he or she
could easily find that person since the schedules are fairly rigid. Middle and junior high schools face
security issues relating to students wanting to cut class. When most students are in their middle school
years, they get their first truly rebellious tendencies. As such, students may want to skip school and go
places that are not safe and which may expose them to vulnerabilities. Additionally, such students may
also attract the attention of outsiders and attempt to bring them back to campus, which would affect
the security of the entire school. Many of the security threats that affect high schools are related to
those that affect colleges and universities as well. One of these is that students may tend to engage in
drugs and alcohol, which can affect their moods and create disagreeable, violent tendencies. Also, the
concept of sacred cows applies in high schools. This term refers to the fact that certain students may
believe that they are beyond reproach or privy to certain

Aussies Research Paper
Being bordered by the Indian Ocean on the west, on the northeast by the Timor Sea and the Great
Austrian Bight on the extreme southeast, make West Australia (WA) a mecca for Aussies fond of
snorkeling, diving and endless aquatic related events. But, that s not all WA offers Aussies needing a
short holiday excursion.
Perth, WA s cosmopolitan state capital, offers an almost unlimited choice of surrounding nature
friendly activities that ll leave Perth residents and visitors clamoring for more. At Elizabeth Quay,
Aussies regularly enjoy scenic river cruises, gondola rides and sea plane rides as well. At Kings Park,
more than 400 hectares of awe inspiring natural bush land and strategically placed lookouts make it an
ideal spot for picture taking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A delightful region, especially for those with an interest in agriculture and prime farming such as
growing melons, mangoes and until recently, sugar cane; a lucrative Indian sandalwood industry now
has all but replaced sugar canes as main staples for this region s economy.
However, it is with the natural beauty of scenic areas such as the Ord River, Lake Argyle, Diversion
Dam and nearby Bungle Bungle that generally interest tourists the most.
Lying to the north of Perth by 1,274 kilometres, or a 15 hour drive, Exmouth promises to deliver
Aussies a broad range of exciting adventures such as snorkeling in crystal blue Turquoise Bay, diving
in Navy Pier, camping tours at the Cape Range National Park and reef kayaking experiences found in
few other places.
All in all, Western Australia has it all: from magnificent, pristine beaches and coastal waters, to taking
an afternoon swim with a gigantic, enigmatic whale shark. Perhaps, you d rather just ponder the eerie
landscape of the mountainous regions with jagged limestone peaks and gorges in the Cape Range
National Park.
Whatever the case, Exmouth, laid back and making no apologies for it, even makes relaxing and
watching wandering emus, rambling goannas and a host of other wildlife just plain fun to

Dichotomies In Life Of Pi
Life of Pi, by Yann Martel, follows a boy named Pi as he floats aboard a lifeboat through the Pacific
Ocean; joining him on this journey is a tiger, affectionately named Richard Parker. Pi, himself, is a
bright boy who is Hindu by birth, but goes on to become devout in both Islam and Christianity,
refusing to acknowledge the antagonist relationship between these beliefs. Pi s family were once
zookeepers, and decided to move from their home in India to Canada following the economic collapse
of their zoo. In the middle of their voyage across the sea, their ship sinks in a treacherous storm,
leaving Pi, a hyena, a zebra with a broken leg, an orangutan, and a tiger aboard a lifeboat.
As the days go by, the hyena grown hungry and attacks the zebra. After the hyena has eaten the zebra,
it turns its appetite towards the orangutang, who puts up a tremendous fight, but ultimately ... Show

As I had not been raised in a religious home, the construct seemed foreign to me. I failed to see its
purpose in the lives of those around me. In the novel, Martel presents two dichotomies: the story of Pi
and the beasts, or the story of man and a struggle to survive (the cook, crewman, and mother). While
the latter seems more acceptable on its face, the former presents a beautiful story filled with meaning.
Through Martel s writing, I see religion less as an identification or a label, but rather as a lens in
which a follower views the world. Where I might see the ordinary, others may see the divine. This
novel inspired me to be more accepting of religion and its purpose for its followers. The book also
helped me consider flaws in human nature flaws that I often found in myself. This complex novel was
written so beautifully that it inspired me to become a better writer, a better thinker, and, more
importantly, increasingly accepting of the others and the lenses through which they understand their

Dreikur Vs Adler This paper will compare and contrast positive discipline between Alfred Adler and Rudolph Dreikurs to that of Peggy Drexler s view that children should not be shamed during discipline. They all agree there are great advantages to positive discipline. The most important advantage is it helps develop children into self disciplined adults. Another advantage is that it nurtures stronger relationships between the parent and child, which allows the child a better understanding of their parents feelings. It also helps reduce power struggles between a child and his/her parents. Alfred Adler and Rudolph Dreikurs, both psychologists who shared the same beliefs to positive discipline. Adler and Dreikurs agree parents who punish their children for negative behavior, rather than recognize them for their positive behavior, only lead to the child misbehaving even more. Children tend to respond better when a parent first tells them how they feel. This allows the child to connect with the parent. Once you have that connection, you can get into the discipline. When the child has a better understanding of how the parent feels, they usually don t repeat their bad behavior. They all agree positive discipline calls for the need for kindness and firmness at the same time (Carroll). • 5. Literary Analysis Of The Thing In The Forest The literary device that is going to be used to pair up with the primary context is Symbolism. In the Story The Thing in the Forest, there is plenty of symbolism in this short story. The whole story is essentially a symbol. There are plenty of objects in this story that have a very different meaning, referencing to the time period in the piece of literature. In The Thing in the Forest there is a great deal of symbolism. For example the whole story is a symbol for the war going on at that time, WWII. In the story it talks about how the girls and a number of other children went on a train to escape the cities that were most likely being hit hard by the war. There are two girls that have plenty of different meanings to them that can mean so many things, the house that they were at for a while, and of course the thing that also has many meanings to it. In The Thing in the Forest, let s start off with the beginning of the story. In the second paragraph it talks about Penny and Primrose, the main characters in the story. It describes the girls very precisely, Penny was thin and dark and taller, possibly older, than Primrose, who was plump and blond and curly. Primrose had bitten nails, and velvet collar on her dressy green coat. Penny had a bloodless transparent paleness, a touch of blue in her fine lips. (Byatt 325). The symbolism in this sentence can mean that Penny had an imaginary friend, which was Primrose, that possibly died. We can infer this because the author ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Low Voter Turnout In The United States 2014 Midterm Elections Low Voter Turnout Essentially, vigorous voter turnout is very paramount to a healthy economy. In most cases, low turnout is attributed to low participation in political issues and the misguided notion that voting in one candidate will have less impact on public policy. In the United States, voter participation keeps on fluctuating which has been an area of concern especially in midterm elections. More specifically, the 2014 midterm election reported the lowest voter participation in a period of more than seven decades. This paper delves into analyzing the reasons for the low voter turnout in 2014 midterm elections in the United States. The paper will also provide recommendations on how voter turnout may be increased in the 2016 general elections. The 2014 midterm voter turnout was considerably low owing to a number of reasons. One possible reason attributed to the low voter turnout is disillusionment with the leading party. Data collected from exit polls indicated that about 54 percent of citizens were opposed to President Barack Obama performance as the president(Ching, 2014). Further, 65% of them viewed the country as headed towards the wrong direction. Most voters were dissatisfied with the Republicans leaders and lacked confidence in the government to do ... Balanced Scorecard and Malcolm Baldrige Performance Excellence Program Comparison Merriam Webster defines quality as a degree of excellence, or a distinguishing attribute. Managers strive for excellence in the workplace to improve customer satisfaction, increase the output in manufacturing while minimizing defects, as well as making the company more profitable. There are several different management systems or methodologies available for businesses to use, but the Balanced Scorecard and the Malcolm Baldrige Performance Excellence Program is the most common and widely used in the United States. The Balanced Scorecard Institute reports that in the 1950 s General Electric was the first to use the Balanced Scorecard approach, but it was not until the 1990 s when Dr. Robert Kaplan a Harvard Business School professor and Dr. David Norton officially titled it the Balanced Scorecard. Once used as only a measurement tool for organizations, it is now a complete strategic planning and management system (Balanced Scorecard Institute, n.d.). Originally, businesses looked at the financial reports to distinguish whether it was a quality company or not. Kaplan and Norton however believed the financial reports only showed past history and an organization must also track how it is performing currently and look at ways to constantly improve future performance. The artist will create a piece of art with a certain intended meaning, but it will most likely not be viewed in that way. When a spectator views a piece of art, they take into account their past experiences, and since everyone has gone through different things, their interpretations are different, as you can imagine. Stepping into the 21st century, those words have not been faithfully lived up to, evident through the numerous counts of divorces in society. Divorce can be defined as the legal dissolution of a marriage by a court order and in this generation, is seen as the norm. Apart from race, other major predictors of divorce include age at marriage, education, premarital births and religion. (Bartolic, Martin, White, 2013). Divorce often tends to be thought of in a monolithic way, as if everyone who gets a divorce goes through the same process. The impact of divorce on the well being of children have been notoriously viewed with a negative lens for many years due to possible risk factors that may affect children and their upbringing as they navigate through life as their parents separate. • 19. The Cross Cultural Communication Issues On the whole, this paper will identify four other major possible cross cultural issues as analysed below. First, the cross cultural communication issue may arise and there are mainly 3 factors contributing to the communication barriers in such case. For starters, the factor of culture difference (Moslehpour et al. 2016) present itself. As given in the case study, both of the SSSL executives and Saran are all from India, but the target Qatari market and the people, including both Sheikhs and host country nationals, that they have to deal with, share the Islamic culture or Arab culture, which distinctly differ from India s religious belief Hinduism or Buddhism culture. In the next place, the factor of perception difference and experience difference (Beeber et al. 2014) may occur as a result of culture differences. Since culture can influence the way people perceive things and usually lead to diverse life events among individuals (Nisbett and Miyamoto 2005), people from Qatar and India may have different solutions and reactions to the same problem in the future. At the minimum, conflicts or stereotyping may occur among the host country nationals and expatriates; at the maximum, the major decisions regarding the development and future direction of this partnership business for both sides chief executives may go separate ways. • 21. How An Accelerometer Works, One Must First Understand The... Introduction To understand how an accelerometer works, one must first understand the concept of vibration. One example of vibration is sound. When an object vibrates and creates a disturbance in a medium, it creates a sound wave. The sound wave travels in sinusoidal form with certain frequencies. This affect was observed in this experiment with a guitar string, a motor, and a cell phone. The vibration of these systems can be measured with an accelerometer. The accelerometer converts mechanical acceleration to an electric signal. To record the data measured by the accelerometer, the DAQ system LabVIEW was used. LabVIEW collected the time and frequency data from the plucked guitar string. An important aspect of the DAQ system is the sample rate, or the number of measurements it can make in a certain amount of time. It is an important parameter because without a high enough sample rate, highly dynamic behavior may not be recorded. Another problem with using an insufficient sampling rate is aliasing which is the misinterpretation of high frequency signals as lower frequency components. To prevent this, the sample frequency must be twice the highest frequency. Any signal in the system that is above the Nyquist frequency, which is half the sampling frequency, is subject to aliasing, or false frequency measurement. This means that the data is only reliable up to half of the sampling frequency. However, a sample rate that is too high leads to difficult data processing and noise ... In liquid chromatography, the mixture of compounds is dissolved in a liquid mobile phase and then travels through a stationary phase, which acts as the adsorbent. A compound which has stronger interactions with the stationary phase will move slower than a compound with weaker interaction with the stationary phase. The components of a mixture are separated based on their differences in mobility. Usually the stationary phase is a polar porous compound, such as silica gel, which has a large surface area and hydroxyl groups, giving it the ability to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ortho hydroxyacetophenone travelled higher up the silica gel TLC plate than its para counterpart because ortho was less polar and formed fewer interactions with the silica gel adsorbent. Ortho hydroxyacetophenone formed intramolecular hydrogen bonds between its carbonyl and hydroxyl groups. Para hydroxyacetophenone formed intermolecular hydrogen bonds with its carbonyl and hydroxyl group. P hydroxyacetophenone was more polar, so it travelled a shorter distance up TLC plate due to its many interactions with polar silica gel. Polar compounds have stronger dipole dipole interactions which require more energy and higher temperatures to melt, accounting for p hydroxyacetophenone s high melting point. Unknown #16 contained the compounds acetaminophen, caffeine, and acetylsalicylic acid. The distances acetylsalicylic acid and ibuprofen travelled along the silica gel plate were very similar, but since the Rf value of the unknown was closer to acetylsalicylic acid than to ibuprofen, it was determined that acetylsalicylic acid was one of the unknown compounds. Since ibuprofen and acetylsalicylic acid travelled the greatest distance up the TLC plate, they had the least amount of attraction to the silica gel plate, making them the least polar solutes. In a classic case of western countries meddling in the foreign affairs of a sovereign nation for their own national interests, the American CIA and British intelligence conspired to topple the democratically elected government in 1953. They succeeded in restoring the exiled Pahlavi dynasty to power by installing Reza Shah Pahlavi s son, Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi as the Shah of Iran. After taking office, Muhammad Reza Shah Pahlavi continued and expanded upon a policy of westernization begun by his father and aggressively repressed Iran s fundamental Islamists to consolidate his power. The Pahlavi dynasty s restoration fostered anger among the citizens, as Muhammad Reza Shah Pahlavi was seen as a western puppet and therefore a more contemporary extension of the humiliating colonialism endured at the hands of the west. Fostering women s rights, western dress, toleration of alcohol and the suppression of Islamic customs, traditions and clothing all served to earn him the ire of the general population and Islamic clerics. Milton Edwards (2006) referred to this accelerated secularism (p. 37) as being part of the erosion of religious elements in Iran. However, as the routes to and features of industrialisation are very different in the developed countries and the developing ones (see Butschek, 2006; Stoneburner and Angelos, 2005; Myrdal, 1970), the following review will have a greater focus on the developing countries, which have more comparative value to China. It offers both a theoretical framework and a bigger context for china s case to stand against. 1. 1 To be or not to be? Industirialisation normally refers to the process by which economy becomes more dependent on factory production and concentration of industries (DHG, 2013; BD, no date). For many countires, industrialisation has been taken as an important path to economic growth (Kaplinsky, 1998, p.3). In the pre industrialisation era, women s work had been home based and largely seasonal that agreed by most researchers (McBride, 1977, p.282; ). But the role of women in industrialisation appeared to be a controversial issue as early as the start of industrialisation. For some researchers, women had been excluded from the industrialisation process, for not only biological reasons but also social reasons (Outram, 2013; Ogilvie, 1990; McBride,1977). First, the traditional ways to industrialised production by mechanisation and manufacture (The Economists, 2012; Hughes, 1968) unfavours women, as biologically women are considered weaker than men in strength. People of the global community have to be aware of the dangers that are present in the lives of many people all over the globe. Human Rights issues are quite serious and violations of these rights should not be taken lightly. In exploration of a global human rights issue, the discovery of rape as a tool in war was a gross violation of human rights as well as overwhelmingly a gender issue. Rape used as a tool of war has devastated and destroyed people, communities, families, and traditions. When discussing rape as weapon of war, there are two main modern day conflicts that can not be overlooked. Rape as a weapon of war is brought into light by the wars of Congo and Bosnia. These two conflicts brought the eyes of the world onto the global issue of rape in war and more specifically how it is used as a tool of ethnocide and genocide. The recent conflict in the Congo has been rooted in the 1994 Rwandan Genocide and related violence in Burundi which saw hundreds of thousands of Hutus flee both countries into eastern Zaïre. The poem is meant to illustrate the chaotic and destructive nature of healing from emotional damage, showing how a love lost can leave an individual scarred and vengeful. Young begins the poem by indirectly addressing his lover, saying I am hoping / to hang your head. This creates a dark tone from the offset, implying that the speaker wants to harm the intended recipient of the poem. An argument is said to be deductive if its conclusion is claimed to necessarily follow the premise. An inductive argument claims only that its conclusion probably follows from its premises. That is, the inferential claim is that since the premises are true or acceptable, the conclusion is likely to be true or acceptable. (Missimer, 2005) The first and second examples are inductive because even though the premises may be true, it is still possible for the conclusion to be false. They will then have to be looked at to see if they are strong or weak and if all premises are true or if one or more is false. We can then determine if the argument is reliable or unreliable. The third example is a deductive argument if we go by the definition above. If the premises are true then it simply isn t possible for the conclusion to be false. Students, faculty, and even maintenance staff generally have the same schedule every week if not every day. Therefore, if there were a potential attacker looking to launch an assault on a public school, it would be very easy for him or her to target a particular time and place in which most of the school s members would be. Additionally, if a perpetrator were looking for a specific individual, he or she could easily find that person since the schedules are fairly rigid. Middle and junior high schools face security issues relating to students wanting to cut class. When most students are in their middle school years, they get their first truly rebellious tendencies.
