Advantages Of Smart Watch
Smart watch vs. luxury watch, the battle for premier time A smartwatch is an automated
wristwatch which can run mobile applications, and allows one to access several functions such as
a calculator, compass, applications to book a cab and order groceries. This can also be used to
make or answer phone calls and to send text messages. There is a possibility that the luxury watch
industry may lose its customers to the smart watch industry. The luxury watches have had a high
brand value and have been a symbol of prestige, riches, status and classiness. The introduction of
smart watch by tech savvy companies such as Samsung, Motorola, Apple and Google has brought

Character Analysis Of Mrs. Doubtfire
Mrs. Doubtfire is about a voice actor that love children, like to teach children education, and
make them feel fun. However his wife, Miranda, wanted to have a divorce with his husband
because Daniel barely have a job and he is irresponsible to take care of his children and the
house. They both went to the court to get a divorce; as a result, the judges made the decision that
Daniel will be separate from his children and he is allowed to visit them once a week. Daniel is
desperate to look for a job so then he can see his children as soon as possible, but after hearing
the news that Miranda is looking for a nanny to take care of the children gave him a brilliant idea.

transgender, and being responsible for your action in life when having family and jobs. In my
opinion, this movie is more of being responsible with how he lived with his jobs and having
family. He focuses on spending more time with his children to learn and to be happy. Furthermore,
he was able to fulfilled the career that he want to do as a voice actor by becoming a host of a
children (or some sort of education) documentary show. As a nanny, Daniel realized that teaching
his children will able to be dependable for Miranda because they love their parents for being

George Miller s Mad Max Franchise
Mad Max: Road Fury has been consider one of the best movies of the summer. It is the fourth
installation in George Miller s Mad Max franchise. The most interesting thing about this release,
however, is that although it is the fourth movie of the series, it come almost thirty years after the
release of the last movie in the franchise. The development, financing, and eventual production of
Fury Road is incredibly interesting because although almost everything went wrong, it still
became a successful movie, both critically and in the box office. A decade after the release of the
third installment of the Mad Max franchise, Beyond the Thunderdome, Warner Bros. began to
develop a Mad Max TV show. However, at the time, the 90s, a TV show that violent would never
have been aired, and as such, they began to focus on a fourth Mad Max movie, set for the late
90s. (Meslow) In 2001, 9/11 derailed the movie for financial reasons. In Miller s own words,
Everything closed down, shipping closed down, insurance closed down and most of all the
American dollar collapsed by about 25% within a few weeks. Additionally, the studio decided
that such bleak times called for happier movies, because of this, Miller decided to work on
Happy Feet instead. (Bravin) By 2003, the Mad Max movie was set to begin filming in Namibia.
However, the location was determined to be a security risk, causing it to be delayed once again. By
2006, Mel Gibson began to distance himself from the movie, thinking that it

Sofonisba Anguissola was born into a noble family in Cremona, Lombardy in 1532. Her status
allowed her, as well as her other five sisters, to obtain a well rounded education, which included
fine arts. In her teenage years she was the apprentice of Bernardino Gatti and Bernardino Campi,
they taught her mostly about portraiture and helped her develop her style that she would use for
self portraits. In 1554, she travelled to Rome, there she became the apprentice of Michelangelo,
one of the most famous Renaissance figures in history. Later she travelled to Milan and painted

an example of how the wealthy viewed themselves as individual beings, having virtue that was

Why I Want To Pursue A Fine Arts Degree In Film
Films are an insight into human imagination, and each unique film offers the audience a chance to

Storytelling has been apart of my life since before I can remember. I vividly remember going to

Dbq Essay Over The Annexation Of The Philippines
The Filipino people had helped the US fight the Spanish American War in hope to gain
independence in return. However, instead of gaining independence the Philippines was annexed to
the United States on December 10, 1898. When the Filipino s had found they were going to be
ruled over once again they were very unhappy, after all they had helped the US. When Aguinaldo
had found out that the Philippines were going to be controlled by the US, he had declared war on
the United States. Although a war had been started over the annexation, annexation was the best
thing for them. The annexation of the Philippines was in the best interest of the United States
because it had helped trade between the US and the Philippines, provided education for the
Filipinos, and without being ruled by the US, the Philippines would go back to being ruled by Spain.

Difference Between Case Study And Case Research
Organisations nowadays had to cope with challenges such as rapid changes in technology, user
preferences, and global economic state. In order to stay competitive, organisations need to tackle
these challenges in a smarter way as compared to their rivals. Research can be done to understand
the challenges or situations, and therefore better solution can be generated. There are many
strategies in conducting research. Case studyand case research are among the research strategies
that can be conducted to generate solution to solve problems. However, both strategies can only be

The basis of case research is case studies (Voss, Tsikriktsis Frohlich, 2002). It is best to conduct
case research in capturing the knowledge of practitioners and developing theories from it (Benbasat,
Goldstein Mead, 1987).
Categories of case research
There are four categories of case research which are single case, multiple cases, retrospective
cases and longitudinal cases (Voss, Tsikriktsis Frohlich, 2002). i.Single case The single case
research is most effective at the beginning theory building but not theory testing. Since single case
research is used for exploration, hence, it may be followed by multiple cases research. Single case
research can also be conducted to test the boundaries of established theories (Benbasat, Goldstein
Mead, 1987).
ii.Multiple cases
Theory building or testing is usually done by conducting multiple cases research. As the name
suggests, multiple cases research permits cross case analysis and extension of theory. In addition,
multiple cases research yield more general result (Benbasat, Goldstein Mead, 1987).
iii.Retrospective

Milk s Story Told Right
The 2008 film Milk is based on a true story about a political leader who desired to see a change in
America, specifically the freedom of choice and speech towards homosexuals. The motion picture
takes place after Harvey Milk s 40th birthday and captures the rest of his life as he strives to
convince America to let the gay community out of the closet. The movie portrays the historical
activist very well, including the surrounding characters as well as the actual events that took place
during his time in office. The film was very accurate in representing Harvey Milk correctly. In the
movie, Milk was depicted as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Josh Brolin, the actor who played White, embodied the character in a way that the audience could
understand. During the film, the audience can see that Harvey Milk and George Moscone
developed a political relationship. Shortly after Dan White resigned his seat from the Board of
Supervisors, Milk convinced Mayor Moscone that he would have a greater chance at being
reelected mayor without White on the Board. Mayor George Moscone trusted Milk in this political
judgment call. When the climactic scene of the two assassinations comes, the film depicts it
accurately. After entering San Francisco s City Hall from another entrance to elude the metal
detectors, White went to Moscone s office to plead for his reemployment. When Moscone denied
him the occupation, White shot and killed him. Later in the same hour, White went to Milk s office
and killed him as well. The film certainly displayed this scene accurately.
Actor Sean Penn also delivered an outstanding performance playing the main character Harvey
Milk. From the beginning to the end, Penn gave a believable presentation. In the film, Milk starts
a camera business which then becomes a salon for homosexuals. While noticing that his
surroundings are less than approving of the gay community, Milk decides to be a voice for those
who are, metaphorically speaking, trapped behind closet doors. In 1977, Milk was elected to the
San Francisco Board of Supervisors. Being in a place of power, Milk used this

Essay About Moving School
The most significant challenge that I ve had to face was moving schools and even states. It was
some of the biggest and quickest changes I ve ever had to deal with and it wasn t easy

independent. Moving to new schools is never simple; moving meant leaving everything behind
and having to start over. From preschool to third grade I had gone to the same elementary, had
lots of friends and knew most of the teachers. The school itself had been around for about 60
years and they decided it was getting old so they wanted to build a new school in the back. The

Research Paper On Self-Driving
Self driving cars are simply too innovative and new for the U.S. government to handle. That is
why autonomous cars are still not road legal, despite safety efforts and data presented by major
U.S. car companies, such as Tesla, Ford and Mercedes. However, a few industry leaders have joined
forces in an effort to legalize self driving vehicles once and for all. Ford, Google, Volvo, Uber
and Lyft have founded the Self Driving Coalition for Safer Streets. They hope to raise safety
awareness for self driving cars, as well as the impact they would have on society. But wait,
where is Tesla in all this? And why isn t Mercedes involved either? Could there be some evil plot

Pippin Analysis
On Sunday, November 5th, I viewed the W.T. Woodson production of the musical Pippin. The
script for Pippin was originally written by Roger Hirson and the music and lyrics by Stephen
Schwartz. It was first performed at Carnegie Mellon University and later on Broadway. The Theo
Ending, which was not part of the original production, was written by Mitch Sebastian. Although
the production itself was excellent, I think the idea of Pippin was slightly better than the
scripting. The concept of Pippin having a dual life could have been presented more clearly, and
several points in the plot are seemingly nonsensical until much later after having watched the play.
Some, such as Charlemagne s rebirth, still seem strange, unless you view all the characters as
simply players trying to make Pippin s life more difficult so he goes through with the finale.
However, this script does not present this idea clearly enough to notice this during the play. The
scripting is almost insignificant and only allows for transitions between the songs, although, as a
musical, this is not entirely unexpected. The songs were very well written and expressed the
emotions of the character/s in consideration very well. The scripting often took away from these
moments with vague, poorly put pieces of information that seemed to mainly serve as transitions. If
looking at this as a plot map, instead of having a steady rising action, it goes up and down from
interesting points (typically the songs) to less important,

The Dogmas Of Mary-Vanessa Perez
The Dogmas of Mary Vanessa Perez
The first dogma is the Divine Motherhood. This dogma is that Mary is the Mother of God. We
believe this because she gave birth to Jesus, who is both 100% human and 100% divine. We got
this belief from the Council of Ephesus and the Council of Chalcedon. They explained that since
Mary gave birth to Christ, the son of God, then Mary gave birth to God.
The second dogma is the Perpetual Virginity. This dogma is that Mary was a virgin when she was
conceived and gave birth. We believe this because we know that Mary was conceived by the power
of the Holy Spirit only. We got this belief from the Church. They explained that Mary was a virgin

Black Hawk Down By Mark Bowden
For my cultural event I watch a war film. I decided to watch the movie Black Hawk Down. This
movie was based off of a true story and the book Black Hawk Down written by Mark Bowden. It
was directed by Ridley Scott. It was released October 10, 2002, nine years after the event
happened. Many people fought in this war and their stores were told in this film. On of them was
sergeant Matt Eversmann who was played by Josh Hartnett. Private John Grimes was played by
Ewan McGregor. Tom Sizemore played the character Mcknight. There were many other soldiers in
the movie that also played a very significant role in this war story. Black Hawk Downis about a
group of U.S. special forces, also know at the Delta forces, who were sent into Somalia to help
the people. They were there to provide aid and food to the starving people. While there they went
to arrest president Mohamed Farrah Aidid while trying to avoid the Militia and his military. The
movie is about the Battle of Mogadishuthat happened on October 3, 1993. What was supposed to
be an hour mission, but turned into a day and a half rescue mission. After the helicopters dropped
their men two Black Hawks were shot down and others had been badly damaged. Thus the name

The Socialization Of Lesbian Clients
One of the issues that should be addressed in treatment is the socialization that lesbian clients
participate in. In treatment, it is necessary to give any client tools for recovery. These tools should
include alternative activities that do not revolve around the getting and using of alcohol and drugs.
This may be a difficultly task when dealing with LGBTclients especially since there are not many
options for socialization besides bars, clubs, or parties. In Oklahoma there are about 333 thousand
same sex couples per the 2010 Census (The Williams Institute, 2011). Oklahoma has some
programs and organizations that give the LGBT community different opportunities where they can
meet other members without being surrounded by alcohol and drugs. Two main organizations are
specific geared towards lesbians. Herland offers social and educational services that focus on
lesbian issues but is offer to all women (Herland, 2008). Herland is an excellent organization to
recommend to lesbian clients located in Oklahoma. The second organization is known as
OKCLesbian. Additionally, OKCLesbian offers substitutions for socializations at bars, clubs, and
church. They often have large dinner events called Lez Eat where local lesbians can get together,
have fun, and enjoy a nice meal together. Giving clients different choices to socialize in sobriety
may perhaps increase their likelihood of staying sober and finding new friends to enjoy it with.

In 1918 America found itself in World War 1, this war has major significances in the history of
women military. During this time period in American history there were 21,480 female nurses
serving in the armed forces both in military hospitals in the United States and overseas. The
importance of this war was not for its large number of women nurses, but for the first 18 African
American women that were involved. These pioneer women served stateside caring for German
prisoners of war and African American soldiers. In December 7, 1941 the United States was
boomed by Japanese fighter planes this incident lead to the involvement of America in World War

day military. During this war America had More than 60,000 nurses serving stateside and

for women during this war was the creation of the Women s Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC) in
1942, which was converted to the Women s Army Corps (WAC) in 1943. This creation meant that

The Future Prospects Of Norway
In order to discuss the future prospects of Norway for the coming years, it is interesting and useful
to review the performance of the country in the past to identify possible trends.
At the end of 2013, Norway was calculated as having the second highest GDP in the world (only
under Luxembourg), as it was 65,515 US dollars per capita. The following graph (Chart 1 see
appendix) shows the growth in Norway s GDP from 1970. Here, we can see the effect of the
recession in 2008, and how it reflected on the downfall of the GDP s value. Only until 2010 is
where we see the value become even with the pre crisis number. Yet, according to Figure 1
(below), the index shows that it has not yet reached the value that it would have, following the
trend prior to 2008.
Figure 1. Norway s Gross Domestic Product. The graphic shows the growth of GDP for Norway
in red, Luxemburg in black and the rest of the OECD countries in grey.
Source: OECD, 2014
Apart from GDP, there are also other indicators that can give us an impression of the economic
performance of Norway in the past years. For instance, in 2013 the long term unemployment rate
was 9.3% and the overall trend suggests it may continue to go down (Appendix 1, Chart 1). This
refers to those in unemployment that are aged 15 and over, were without work during the
reference week, yet were available for and actively seeking for work during the previous four weeks.
Moreover, the inflation and long term interest rates

In the event that management s view is one that is pessimistic, the maximin rule would apply.
BioMed would set production at 342 units of production in order to minimize the maximum worst
payoff which is this case, is a loss of $249.
Management should be aware that both of the above options fail to consider any of the good or bad
outcomes.
BioMed management may also consider applying the minimax regret rule. Under this rule,
management would make a decision with the minimum worst potential regret by identifying the
maximum possible potential regret for each decision. In this case, production would be set at 407
units yielding a maximum possible regret of $1,526.
This report provides a clear recommendation for average daily production capacity for the next 12
months. The analysis and various decision rules will assist management to provide a direction that
will enable the best outcome when faced with uncertainty when combined with the risk tolerance.

The Three Levels Of The Federal Court System
In the United States Government, there are three levels of the federal court system: District
courts, Courts of Appeal, and the Supreme Court. District courts were created after the Judiciary
Act of 1789, and consist of federal trial courts that do not cross state lines. They can use original
jurisdiction on some cases if they involve a federal government as a party, present a federal based
question, or involve civil suits with citizens. The United Statesattorney, who is nominated by the
President and confirmed by the Senate, is the district s chief law enforcement officer. Courts of
Appeals was established in 1789 to hear appeals from federal district courts. They are overseen
by the chief judge, who serves 7 years, and each court can range from 11 30 judges, depending
on the workload and complexity of cases. These courts appeal cases by the losing party that have
already been heard and decided in a federal district court. They have no original jurisdiction, but
instead use appellate jurisdiction over appeals from criminal cases, and from administrative
agencies. The Supreme Court reviews cases at the center of highly controversial issues that the
political process has yet to resolve successfully. These cases may include cases from the United
States Courts of Appeals, state Supreme Courts, and act as a final decision. The judges within the
Supreme Court are highly regarded, and one must meet specific requirements to become one.

on the two airlines, and on the market between Australia and Europe? The new Qantas Emirates
agreement that commenced in April 2013 had a significant impact on both airlines as there were
substantial benefits that were now offered to both airlines customers. The new partnership gave
Qantascustomers access to Emirates vast network in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa
while Emirates customers benefit from gaining access to Qantas unmatched Australian domestic

airlines significant advantage in network over its competitors between Australia and Europe.
According to ACCC chairman Rod Sims The ACCC considers that the alliance is likely to result in

NCAA Athletic Salaries
NCAA Athletic Salaries In today s society many athletes are being advertised by their schools!
This is happening so that the school can produce more money. However with all of this

Should athletes get paid an annual salary or should they resist this idea? Many big time athletes
on the collegiate level are being used to make more of a profit for their respected schools. Due
to this there has been an uproar of whether the athletes should get a pay for their names being

These laws are called the Laws of Amateurism . In general, amateurism requirements do not allow

the use of college athletes names and likenesses. U.S. District Judge Claudia Wilken ruled the

might receive in exchange for playing sports. The ruling sets up the prospect of a fundamental

The Differences Between Legalism And Confucianism
Q: Han Fei Zi was known for synthesizing and refining the legalist theories and practices that had
been developed before him. Explain his views on law, statecraft and power. Comment on the
fundamental differences between Legalism and Confucianism.
Han Fei Tzu:
Legalism, is an ancient Chinese philosophy concerned with the art of rulership and the stability of
the state. Along with hundreds of other philosophical schools, legalism emerged during the Warring
States Period (453 422 BC), a time of intense political and intellectual turmoil. Unlike other schools
of thought, legalism defined the strength of the state, through a system of punishments and rewards,
propagated by common laws. Neither concerning itself with Confucian idealization of the past, or
the morality of man, legalisms pragmatic system of governance, as best defined by Han Fei Zi,
ended the hundreds of years of warfare and unified China. As aforementioned, Legalism was at the
forefront of philosophical discourse during the Warring States Period. The Warring States Period
was a time of both immense growth and conflict, as the remaining seven states fought over the
dominance of China. Although through much of the Warring States Period, the Zhou Dynasty
claimed dominance over China, by the end of the two hundred and twenty five year long period,
the Kingdom of Qin emerged victorious. While much of the Warring States Period consisted of
warfare, the era also saw the spread of philosophical ideas throughout

Emily Dickinson s Different Views On Death
Emily Dickinson s Different Views on Death Death is inevitable, although many of us push it to
the back of our heads its eventually going to happen. Poet Emily Dickinson accepted this, and
enjoyed writing over half of her poems about death. We all think about death in different ways it
scares a lot of us, but those of us who are religious look forward to the afterlife in heaven, and are
grateful for the mortal life that we lived. Therefore, some of these poems depicted deathas being a
lonely ominous journey, while other poems displayed death as being an enjoyable ride from one
life to another. Dickinson changes her views on death as she grows older, and seems to be less
fearful of death. We can see this in her poems with the similar theme of death in, I heard a fly buss

Piaget s Theory On Child Development
Children are not simply small adults who are still growing; they learn differently and experience
the world in a variation of ways that opposes adult reasoning. Piaget s theory on child
development asserts that there are four stages of cognitive development: sensorimotor,
preoperational, concrete operational, and formal operational. Piaget also suggested that human
thinking is arranged into schemes, organized mental patterns that represent behaviors and
actions (Feldman, 2015, p. 17). These schemes are the building blocks of knowledge and
experience growth through two basic principles: assimilation and accommodation (Feldman,
2015). Assimilation refers to the process in which people understand new ideas in relation to
their own way of thinking and adapt, where as accommodation refers to changes in the way of
thinking caused by new stimuli. Natural observation of children can lend an insight into Piaget s
stages of development, which is the method chosen for this study. For this observation two
children were selected, one male and one female. Subject A is a Caucasian male, approximately
3 years of age, who has middle class parents, and a stay at home mom; Subject B child is a
Caucasian female, also approximately 3 years of age, has middle class parents, and a mother who
works part time. According to Piaget s theory, these two subjects are in the preoperational stage.
The preoperational stage is a time of complex thinking and reasoning, during this time,

Antimicrobial Stewardship
Antibiotic resistance is becoming a more prevalent issue. This is a growing dilemma because, not
only do patients have the potential to develop resistance, but they also can transmit the resistant
bacteria to others (McKellar, 2014). Additionally, it is estimated that over one third of all
antibiotics prescribed to patients are unnecessary (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,
2016). Overutilization of antibiotics is a growing problem due to some patients inappropriate
demands for antibiotics or misdiagnoses by prescribers, however, underutilization of antibiotics can
be just as problematic. Physicians are trained to use good antimicrobial stewardship when
prescribing antibiotics; only giving them to patients who truly do have a bacterial infection. This
becomes an issue when providers are too cautious and do not prescribe antibiotics in an attempt not
to contribute to antibiotic resistance. Unfortunately, this caution could have a detrimental effect on
the health of patients who actually need the antibiotics. To combat this issue, we must find a
balance between good antimicrobial stewardship to minimize resistance while also taking
underutilization into consideration. We, as pharmacists, are at a unique position between the
physician and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How The Technological And Cultural Impact Of The World...
The Chicago World Fair of 1893, or The World Columbian Exposition , was a watershed event in
American history and influenced many of the technological and cultural changes of the early 20th
century. When establishing whether the Fair was a turning point in American society, one must
assess the extent to which society was changed by the event. Industrially, The World Fair added
200 new buildings to the city s skyline, including the famous Ferris Wheel. Economically, the fair
brought in an over 1 million dollar surplus for stockholders, making it the standard to which all
other fairs would be compared to. And socially, the fair brought the community together through
music and shows and with inventions like Aunt Jemima s syrup and Juicy Fruit gum. Thus, The
World Columbian Expo did, in fact, influence the 20th century industrially, economically and
culturally. The late 19th century was a time for technological and industrial triumph. Inventions of
this time proved so benign that they are still used to this day. The World s Columbian Exposition
channeled this new creative mindset of people and set it into action on the world s stage. Erik
Larson constructs an image of these inventions as, They (fair goers) saw the first moving pictures

The only thing they do towards exotic animal trade is simply making laws and acts against it. If
it truly was a major problem then they should be doing more to stop it. If owning one of these
animals is so bad then why doesn t the United States government step in and take control by
putting money into stopping the trade and regulating and seriously enforcing laws. The
government does so little toward keeping people from owning an exotic animal, the hardest part
to get by is the individual state laws about the subject. The laws against owning an exotic animal
varies greatly from state to state, there really isn t much that the government does at a federal
level. The individual states can have a complete ban on owning an exotic animals while different
ones simply require a permit. The United States government doesn t have a general police power
which limits their power on this notion greatly. Depending on the animal you re looking to acquire

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Antiseptics
Antiseptics are antimicrobial substances applied to skin, mucous membranes or wounds for their
bactericidal or bacteriastatic anti infective effects (McDonnell and Russell, 1999). Chlorhexidine
digluconate has been used for more than 50 years and considered as gold standard of antiseptic
treatment since this agent is one of the most extensively used and tested (Giannelli et al., 2008).
Despite the advantages of chlorhexidine, has disadvantages such as stains on teeth and tongue,
desquamation lesions of a mucosa membrane of an oral cavity, breaks irritation, taste changes, tooth
staining, moreover will induce a dose dependent reduction in cellular proliferation and that
concentrations of chlorhexidine that have little effect on cellular proliferation can significantly
reduce both collagen... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Detoxified conjugates polyhexamethylene guanidine hydrochloride (PHMG H) and
polyhexamethylene guanidine phosphate (PHMG P) are created by incorporating different anions
into its structure and display the property of high solubility in water. In comparison to PHMG
hydrochloride, PHMG phosphate has a stronger bacteriastatic action with the respect to some
strains and has a high threshold of skin irritating, neurotoxic and chronic affects. PHMG
phosphate is odorless, colorless and non corrosive (Kuznetsov, 2004). PHMG H was widely tested
in vivo and in vitro (Rosin et al., 2001, Rosin et al., 2002, Welk et al., 2005, Muller and Kramer,
2008). The clinical studies have shown, that PHMG H mouthwash consistently inhibits plaque
regrowth and reduces oral bacterial counts, indicating that PHMG H could be an alternative active
substance of dentifrices. Polyhexamethylene guanidine phosphate (PHMG P) is created by

The Effect Of Angular Momentum On Classical Mechanics
INTRODUCTION
We know the importance of Angular Momentum in Classical Mechanics; the total angular
momentum of an isolated physical system is a constant of the motion. For example, if a point
particle P, of mass m, is moving in a central potential (one which depends only on the distance
between P and a fixed point O), the force to which P is subjected is always directed towards O. Its
moment with respect to O is consequently zero, and the angular momentum theorem implies that
derivative of L (Angular momentum of P with respect to O) with respect to time is zero.
This fact has important consequences: the motion of the particle P is limited to a fixed plane (the
plane passing through O and perpendicular to the angular momentum L); moreover, this motion
obeys the law of constant areal velocity (Kepler s Second Law).
All these properties have their equivalents in Quantum Mechanics. With the angular momentum L
of a classical system is associated with an observable L, actually a set of three observables, Lx, Ly,
and Lz, which correspond to the three components of L in a Cartesian Frame. These three
observables commute with the Hamiltonian H for a particle in the central potential V(r). This
property simplifies the determination and classification of eigenstates of H.
Quantization of Angular Momentum: the component, along a fixed axis, of the intrinsic angular
momenta are quantized, which enables us to understand atomic magnetism, the Zeeman Effect, etc.

Increasing Unemployment Rate In Australia
Employment is a determinant of the cash rate; the RBA aims to set a cash rate that maintains full
employment in Australia. A higher unemployment rate increases the possibility of a rate cut as
lower rates boost business spending and investment which consequently boosts employment.
Employment has been varied across Australia, with capital cities experiencing more employment
growth than regional areas. Unemployment across Australia has been varied, Tasmania, South
Australia and Western Australia have had more fluctuations whereas New South Wales, Victoria
and Queensland have experienced less fluctuations. Overall, there has not been a significant drop in
the unemployment rate which can enable the RBA to increase the cash rate. Australia s current

(Cowboys) One of the most powerful marketing strategies used by the Dallas Cowboys occurred in
1995, when owner Jerry Jones entered into multi million dollar sponsorship agreements with
American Express, Pepsi and Nike through Texas Stadium Corporation. Later that year, Jones was
served with a $300 million lawsuit filed by NFL Properties. The lawsuit claims included violations
of the Lanham Act, breach of contract, breach of the implied covenant of good faith, unjust
enrichment, and tortious interference with contractual rights (Jessop, 2013). Jones filed a motion to
dismiss. The motion was granted in part. Jones then filed a $750 million antitrust lawsuit against
the league. This legal action put the Cowboys in position to become the most valuable NFL
franchise. Jones antitrust lawsuit forced the NFL to settle (Jessop, 2013). The settlement agreement
Jones reached with the NFL allowed Texas Stadium Corporation, to maintain its

Pleural Intervention Essay
Pleural involvement in CT can be seen as pleural effusion, plaques, discrete pleural nodules, or a
combination. Pleural biopsy and pleural fluid cytologic examination are usually early steps in the
diagnostic workup of patients with pleural based masses. Primary pleural lymphoma is extremely
rare. By contrast, pleural involvement by systemic lymphoma is relatively common. Approximately
16% of patients with non Hodgkin lymphoma present with, or subsequently develop, pleural
involvement during the course of disease. Pleural involvement can be unilateral or bilateral and is
more common on the left side (Vega et al., 2006). Pleural effusion in patients with lymphoma may
be either due to actual pleural disease or reactive in nature (Fig.37). 18F FDG... Show more content

PET may provide complementary information to conventional staging as it is highly sensitive in
detecting nodal and extra nodal involvement by most histological subtypes of lymphoma prior to
and following treatment. In lymphoma staging, PET/CT tends to upstage rather than downstage
tumors (Okada et al., 2010). 18F FDG PET can be used for detecting most types of lymphoma.
However, even if the 18F FDG PET scan is positive in a pattern that is highly suggestive of
lymphoma, diagnosis of lymphoma requires histological confirmation. The major utility of 18F
FDG PET in diagnosis is often in directing a biopsy. PET can also be used to guide biopsies to
the site of highest 18F FDG uptake, representing the most aggressive site of lymphoma. 18F
FDG PET may identify other involved regions, which can be biopsied at much lower morbidity
(Delbeke et al, 2009). The advantages of 18F FDG PET/CT for the staging and restaging of both
NHL and Hodgkin disease are mostly attributed to the detection of 18F FDG avid, normal sized
lymph nodes (usually 1 cm), and of extra nodal sites that were previously missed at CT (most
commonly the liver, spleen, cortical bone, bone marrow, and skin). In a few cases, paraspinal and
pulmonary lesions that were interpreted as benign at CT are seen to be malignant at PET/CT (Paes

Theme Of Color In Tim Burton
Tim Burton s unique and captivating style paved the way to his success long before he became
famous. His use of color and close ups throughout his films connect the audience with his characters,
giving them someone to relate to. Burton uses this effect to convey the message that your not alone
because like you, everyone is an outcast, especially in the homogeneous society we live in. One of
the most recurrent cinematic techniques used in Tim Burton s films is color. He uses color is a
variety of ways to express the emotions within his characters. This is prevalent in his film, Charlie
and the Chocolate Factory. As the movie begins and we are being shown around his factory, Willy

After failure to sell any Avon products to her neighbors, Peg takes a desperate risk and decides
to visit Edwards mansion. As she drives down the road we watch her pass the innocent looking
pastel houses and head straight for the dark, threatening castle on the hill. These opposing colors
evoke fear and panic within the viewers. Feelings of discomfort flow throughout the audience as
we watch Peg leave her comfortable and safe life to venture through the unknown. Burton s use of
color helped the audience differentiate the abnormalities of Edwards mansion compared the
normal lifestyle of Pegs neighborhood. This not only told the audience that Edward is an outcast,
but as the movie went on and we grew a liking for Edwards character, it made us realize that being
an outcast is better than being someone your not. As we can see through all of these examples, his
expertise with the use of color assisted the connection between the characters and the audience s
feelings.
Furthermore, Tim Burton is well known for his use of close ups throughout his films. Not only
does this technique bring attention to the characters emotions, but it helps these emotions flow
throughout the audience. In the film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory we watch as the families
row down the river, suddenly Charlie asks Willy Wonka if he remembers his childhood. At first
Willy Wonka s face fills with excitement as he says, Oh boy, do I! Then after a second of
hesitation he asks himself,

Overpopulation In The United States
The United States population is growing at an alarming rate. Overpopulation is the condition
where the population is rising rapidly and the resources cannot support it. The growth rate in the
United States is approximately 2.2%. This means by 2050 the population could reach 438 million
people ( World Bank Group ) Many citizens do not see any danger of the population rise in the
United States. Unawareness might be the biggest factor in why they believe this; however,
overpopulationcan destroy the environment, including food and water sources, while also raising
unemployment rates and the risk of disease.
Overpopulation can damage or even destroy the environment. The need for resources will grow
with the population, but natural resources will not be produced at a fast enough pace. Man may
try to produce the resources they need themselves but will there be enough space? According to
Young the average person needs a minimum of 100 square feet to feel comfortable in a living
space ( How Much Space Do You Really Need? ). Using the estimated population size of 2050,
human living space will take up 43.8 billion square feet. Assuming most of these people live in

How The World Has Changed Over Time Essay
While interviewing an individual from another generation, my father, I learned a lot about how the
world has changed over the past years. Many things such as events that had happened during their
prime years actually still affect people today. It is amazing and shocking to see the differences that
have come about in the past 60 years. The views in working, education, role models, and life
changing moments have all changed over time. While interviewing my father I had many
interesting statistics come up that I have never even thought about or questioned. My father was
born in 1955, making him currently 60 years of age. He grew up on a farm in which he hated
and vowed to leave and not return. During the 9th grade, my father dropped out of school to
begin his work in the field of construction. While this was not my father s first job it was the job
he chose to stick to for the majority of his life. My father was in school until his 9th grade year...

family business when he was growing up, he did what he was accustomed to seeing and had
children to help him work. My father would have been the graduating class of 1973 if he would
have continued in his studies. Most of the students that actually continued and graduated were
females. While education was not very important to my father or his surrounding values, many
women stayed because they could and they were expected to raise the house while the man
worked. The women would learn all they needed to and start a family and properly raise children

Consolations In Memoriam
Conclusion As the title, The Consolations of Alfred Tennyson s In Memoriam, suggests, this
dissertation aimed to clarify the various modes of consolation that were experienced by Alfred
Tennyson, depicted in the text of In Memoriam, following the poignant and untimely death of
Arthur Henry Hallam. The richness of the poem as a monument to grief is partly because of its
outstanding length and newly invented rhyme scheme, but also because the long time period over
which it was composed. In order to understand the consolations in the poem, the text was analyzed
from several perspectives. Firstly, the dissertation sought out the places where consolation could be
found, and these were divided into three objects of analysis: the Word of God, Tennyson s own
words, and the remnants of Hallam.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In In Memoriam, the process of consolation includes moments of silence, which results from
several core ideas. These moments come from the inaptness of Tennyson s words, and a
corresponding retreat to silence in a monastically inspired withdrawal to contemplate and endure
the pain of loss. These emotions are sometimes reflected in the landscape depicted in the poem.
Most importantly, the moments of silence work as a catalyst in In Memoriam, which prompt the
reunion of Tennyson with Hallam, from the most appalling silence of all, death. These moments of
silence are broken by the verse, which alleviates Tennyson s grief, and are accompanied by
Tennyson throughout the poem. Although it is true that music breaks silence, there are other
aspects that contribute to silence breaking. Silence is broken by silence in the form of Hallam s
letter, and is the most important salve to his grief. Furthermore, silence is broken by the ringing of
bells, which appear at critical turning points in In Memoriam. The nature of the ringing bells
changes as Tennyson moves toward

Sight Gags and Charlie Chaplin Essay
Sight Gags and Charlie Chaplin
We have all seen it done before, either in real life or in the movies. A situation is funny because of
the misinterpretation of someone s actions or the complete conflict of what a situation seems to be
and what it really is. People come into contact with sight gags all the time. One might be trying to
be sneaky and hide something and then when someone looks, one pretends to be doing something
else not to get caught. One could also pantomime using an umbrella as a baseball bat. These are
both basic forms of sight gags.
Sight gags are an essential part of comedy, especially the silent comedies of Charlie Chaplin s time.
A sight gag is a visual form of comedy. In this form of comedy, the actors rely on... Show more

The accuser, however, had not seen that Chaplin had put the money in her pocketin the first place.
This misunderstanding makes the scene funny when the man tells the woman to check her pockets
and she is overjoyed to find money.
The second sight gag discussed is the mimed metaphor, which is when an actor uses pantomime
as a gag. For this, the actor uses an object that is very recognizable and pantomimes something
that is not its proper use. This is a kind of visual simile, and is generally used in silent films more
than sound films. The mimed metaphor is different from the mutual interface gag in that there are
not multiple points of view to consider, they often do not result in mishaps, and commonly deal
with objects rather than events. The mimed metaphor is used in the film The Count, in which at
one point Chaplin s character uses his cane like a pool cue in order to hit an object off the table.
At the beginning of The Immigrant Chaplin s character is hanging over the side of the boat. The
audience gets the impression that he is seasick, however we soon learn that he is actually just
fishing. This is a perfect example of switch image. In the beginning, the audience is led to believe
one thing, but with the revelation of new details we soon realize that our perception of the situation
was wrong, and generally our perception changes to something

Most Dangerous Game Outline
Simile: A figure of speech that makes a comparison between two things, using like or as.
Example: An apprehensive night crawled slowly by like a wounded snake, and sleep did not visit
Rainsford, although the silence of a dead world was on the jungle.
The Most Dangerous Game, page 32
Function:
Context Rainsford is hiding from General Zaroff in the forest of Ship Trap Island. After running
around in the forest and trying to make an untraceable trail, Rainsford finally rests high up in a
tree.He tells himself that Zaroff will never find him, but in the back of his mind he worries about
being found and killed. This makes Rainsford to feel like the night was going by very slowly and
this worry kept Rainsford up for a long time. The stress from the Most Dangerous Game is getting to
Rainsford s head. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The night is described as apprehensive , which means fearful of something bad happening. The
night is further compared to a wounded snake, because like any wounded animal, it would move
very slowly and painfully. The author is describing the night like this, to compare it to how
Rainsford is feeling while he is hiding in the forest. Rainsford is very apprehensive himself,
because he fears Zaroff will find him and kill him. Even so zealous a hunter as General Zaroff
could not trace him there, he told himself; only the devil himself could follow that complicated
trail through the jungle after dark. But, perhaps the general was a devil (pg.32). The night and a
wounded snake are compared by using a simile, because a wounded snake moves slow and the
night is moving slow for Rainsford. Rainsford feels like the night is so long, because he cannot
fall asleep and all he can do is worry about his life. This quote is an example of simile, because it
is comparing the night to a snake, which gives the reader a better understanding of what the author

Diamond Chemicals: Case 21 22
TO: Lucy Morris
FROM:
DATE: September 30, 2009
SUBJECT: Merseyside Project
In this memo I will be making a recommendation for or against the Merseyside Project. With the
help of a few questions that guide my memo, I will be able to determine whether or not to
continue funding for the Merseyside Project. This memo will include an exhibit that will show
an analysis of the Merseyside Project including the NPV and the IRR. In the DCF analysis that
was provided in the case I have made a few changes to it and that will be presented later in my
memo. First I will like to talk about how Diamond Chemicals evaluate its capital expenditure
proposals. Before submitting a project for approval, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The IRR and NPV only changed a small percentage.
Assistant Plant Manager: Although the Assistant Plant Manager made a few good points about
EPC, I agree with the executive committee on the refusal to accept the EPC project. Due to the
economic grounds of this project there isn t a way that you could be able to make this happen,
especially with the recession. Along with that, because it has a negative NPV it is not a wise
decision to make even if you add it to the polypropylene line renovations. Although the improved
cash flow would be great, the executive committee is correct on rejecting the project.
Treasury Staff: Explain to the treasury staff that 10% discount rate is a fair number to use because it
is mentioned in the capital budgeting manual. When addressing the treasury staff, talk about what
was meant by the comment and understand why they want to use 7% for the rate of return.
The Merseyside Project seems to be very attractive to me. The numbers of the project I find to be
the most attractive and a reason behind why I believe you should continue to promote the project
for funding. The criteria I looked at to determine its attractiveness was: (1) NPV and IRR of both
my exhibit and also Greystock s and (2) Requirements met by the Project.
NPV and IRR: When examining the NPV and the IRR of the Merseyside project, the numbers
were very attractive. It had a positive net present value and an IRR above 10 percent. By these

The development, financing, and eventual production of Fury Road is incredibly interesting because although almost everything went wrong, it still became a successful movie, both critically and in the box office. Mayor George Moscone trusted Milk in this political judgment call. When the climactic scene of the two assassinations comes, the film depicts it accurately. After entering San Francisco s City Hall from another entrance to elude the metal detectors, White went to Moscone s office to plead for his reemployment. When Moscone denied him the occupation, White shot and killed him. Later in the same hour, White went to Milk s office and killed him as well. The film certainly displayed this scene accurately. Actor Sean Penn also delivered an outstanding performance playing the main character Harvey Milk. From the beginning to the end, Penn gave a believable presentation. In the film, Milk starts a camera business which then becomes a salon for homosexuals. While noticing that his surroundings are less than approving of the gay community, Milk decides to be a voice for those who are, metaphorically speaking, trapped behind closet doors. In 1977, Milk was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. Being in a place of power, Milk used this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Essay About Moving School The most significant challenge that I ve had to face was moving schools and even states. It was some of the biggest and quickest changes I ve ever had to deal with and it wasn t easy especially at ages 8 through 11. I learned to adapt to things faster so I wouldn t get the feeling of being left behind. This experience definitely changed me as a person making me stronger and independent. Moving to new schools is never simple; moving meant leaving everything behind and having to start over. From preschool to third grade I had gone to the same elementary, had lots of friends and knew most of the teachers. The school itself had been around for about 60 years and they decided it was getting old so they wanted to build a new school in the back. That is why autonomous cars are still not road legal, despite safety efforts and data presented by major U.S. car companies, such as Tesla, Ford and Mercedes. However, a few industry leaders have joined forces in an effort to legalize self driving vehicles once and for all. Ford, Google, Volvo, Uber and Lyft have founded the Self Driving Coalition for Safer Streets. They hope to raise safety awareness for self driving cars, as well as the impact they would have on society. But wait, where is Tesla in all this? And why isn t Mercedes involved either? • 14. Pippin Analysis On Sunday, November 5th, I viewed the W.T. Woodson production of the musical Pippin. The script for Pippin was originally written by Roger Hirson and the music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz. It was first performed at Carnegie Mellon University and later on Broadway. The Theo Ending, which was not part of the original production, was written by Mitch Sebastian. Although the production itself was excellent, I think the idea of Pippin was slightly better than the scripting. The concept of Pippin having a dual life could have been presented more clearly, and several points in the plot are seemingly nonsensical until much later after having watched the play. Some, such as Charlemagne s rebirth, still seem strange, unless you view all the characters as simply players trying to make Pippin s life more difficult so he goes through with the finale. However, this script does not present this idea clearly enough to notice this during the play. The scripting is almost insignificant and only allows for transitions between the songs, although, as a musical, this is not entirely unexpected. The songs were very well written and expressed the emotions of the character/s in consideration very well. The scripting often took away from these moments with vague, poorly put pieces of information that seemed to mainly serve as transitions. If looking at this as a plot map, instead of having a steady rising action, it goes up and down from interesting points (typically the songs) to less important, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In treatment, it is necessary to give any client tools for recovery. These tools should include alternative activities that do not revolve around the getting and using of alcohol and drugs. This may be a difficultly task when dealing with LGBTclients especially since there are not many options for socialization besides bars, clubs, or parties. In Oklahoma there are about 333 thousand same sex couples per the 2010 Census (The Williams Institute, 2011). Oklahoma has some programs and organizations that give the LGBT community different opportunities where they can meet other members without being surrounded by alcohol and drugs. Two main organizations are specific geared towards lesbians. Herland offers social and educational services that focus on lesbian issues but is offer to all women (Herland, 2008). Explain his views on law, statecraft and power. Comment on the fundamental differences between Legalism and Confucianism. Han Fei Tzu: Legalism, is an ancient Chinese philosophy concerned with the art of rulership and the stability of the state. Along with hundreds of other philosophical schools, legalism emerged during the Warring States Period (453 422 BC), a time of intense political and intellectual turmoil. Unlike other schools of thought, legalism defined the strength of the state, through a system of punishments and rewards, propagated by common laws. • 33. Piaget s Theory On Child Development Children are not simply small adults who are still growing; they learn differently and experience the world in a variation of ways that opposes adult reasoning. Piaget s theory on child development asserts that there are four stages of cognitive development: sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational, and formal operational. Piaget also suggested that human thinking is arranged into schemes, organized mental patterns that represent behaviors and actions (Feldman, 2015, p. 17). These schemes are the building blocks of knowledge and experience growth through two basic principles: assimilation and accommodation (Feldman, 2015). Assimilation refers to the process in which people understand new ideas in relation to their own way of thinking and adapt, where as accommodation refers to changes in the way of thinking caused by new stimuli. Natural observation of children can lend an insight into Piaget s stages of development, which is the method chosen for this study. For this observation two children were selected, one male and one female. Subject A is a Caucasian male, approximately 3 years of age, who has middle class parents, and a stay at home mom; Subject B child is a Caucasian female, also approximately 3 years of age, has middle class parents, and a mother who works part time. It is alarmingly obvious how modern society is eerily similar to Huxley s novel with the constant demand for instant gratification encouraging unnatural changes. Neil Postman, a contemporary social critic, seems to have noticed this similarity as he has made very bold, very valid statements regarding the text and its relevance to our world today. This statement is strongly in support of those statements and will provide both support and counterargument in an effort to thoroughly explain why. • 36. Antimicrobial Stewardship Antibiotic resistance is becoming a more prevalent issue. This is a growing dilemma because, not only do patients have the potential to develop resistance, but they also can transmit the resistant bacteria to others (McKellar, 2014). Additionally, it is estimated that over one third of all antibiotics prescribed to patients are unnecessary (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2016). Overutilization of antibiotics is a growing problem due to some patients inappropriate demands for antibiotics or misdiagnoses by prescribers, however, underutilization of antibiotics can be just as problematic. Physicians are trained to use good antimicrobial stewardship when prescribing antibiotics; only giving them to patients who truly do have a bacterial infection. This becomes an issue when providers are too cautious and do not prescribe antibiotics in an attempt not to contribute to antibiotic resistance. Unfortunately, this caution could have a detrimental effect on the health of patients who actually need the antibiotics. To combat this issue, we must find a balance between good antimicrobial stewardship to minimize resistance while also taking underutilization into consideration. • 39. How The Technological And Cultural Impact Of The World... The Chicago World Fair of 1893, or The World Columbian Exposition , was a watershed event in American history and influenced many of the technological and cultural changes of the early 20th century. When establishing whether the Fair was a turning point in American society, one must assess the extent to which society was changed by the event. Industrially, The World Fair added 200 new buildings to the city s skyline, including the famous Ferris Wheel. Economically, the fair brought in an over 1 million dollar surplus for stockholders, making it the standard to which all other fairs would be compared to. And socially, the fair brought the community together through music and shows and with inventions like Aunt Jemima s syrup and Juicy Fruit gum. Thus, The World Columbian Expo did, in fact, influence the 20th century industrially, economically and culturally. The late 19th century was a time for technological and industrial triumph. Inventions of this time proved so benign that they are still used to this day. The World s Columbian Exposition channeled this new creative mindset of people and set it into action on the world s stage. Erik Larson constructs an image of these inventions as, They (fair goers) saw the first moving pictures on Edison s Kinetoscope, and they watched as lightning chattered from Nikola Tesla s body. • 46. The Effect Of Angular Momentum On Classical Mechanics INTRODUCTION We know the importance of Angular Momentum in Classical Mechanics; the total angular momentum of an isolated physical system is a constant of the motion. For example, if a point particle P, of mass m, is moving in a central potential (one which depends only on the distance between P and a fixed point O), the force to which P is subjected is always directed towards O. Its moment with respect to O is consequently zero, and the angular momentum theorem implies that derivative of L (Angular momentum of P with respect to O) with respect to time is zero. This fact has important consequences: the motion of the particle P is limited to a fixed plane (the plane passing through O and perpendicular to the angular momentum L); moreover, this motion obeys the law of constant areal velocity (Kepler s Second Law). All these properties have their equivalents in Quantum Mechanics. With the angular momentum L of a classical system is associated with an observable L, actually a set of three observables, Lx, Ly, and Lz, which correspond to the three components of L in a Cartesian Frame. These three observables commute with the Hamiltonian H for a particle in the central potential V(r). This property simplifies the determination and classification of eigenstates of H. Quantization of Angular Momentum: the component, along a fixed axis, of the intrinsic angular momenta are quantized, which enables us to understand atomic magnetism, the Zeeman Effect, etc. We shall denote by ... However, even if the 18F FDG PET scan is positive in a pattern that is highly suggestive of lymphoma, diagnosis of lymphoma requires histological confirmation. The major utility of 18F FDG PET in diagnosis is often in directing a biopsy. Consolations In Memoriam Conclusion As the title, The Consolations of Alfred Tennyson s In Memoriam, suggests, this dissertation aimed to clarify the various modes of consolation that were experienced by Alfred Tennyson, depicted in the text of In Memoriam, following the poignant and untimely death of Arthur Henry Hallam. The richness of the poem as a monument to grief is partly because of its outstanding length and newly invented rhyme scheme, but also because the long time period over which it was composed. In order to understand the consolations in the poem, the text was analyzed from several perspectives. Firstly, the dissertation sought out the places where consolation could be found, and these were divided into three objects of analysis: the Word of God, Tennyson s own words, and the remnants of Hallam.... Most importantly, the moments of silence work as a catalyst in In Memoriam, which prompt the reunion of Tennyson with Hallam, from the most appalling silence of all, death. These moments of silence are broken by the verse, which alleviates Tennyson s grief, and are accompanied by Tennyson throughout the poem. Although it is true that music breaks silence, there are other aspects that contribute to silence breaking. This misunderstanding makes the scene funny when the man tells the woman to check her pockets and she is overjoyed to find money. The second sight gag discussed is the mimed metaphor, which is when an actor uses pantomime as a gag. For this, the actor uses an object that is very recognizable and pantomimes something that is not its proper use. This is a kind of visual simile, and is generally used in silent films more than sound films. The mimed metaphor is different from the mutual interface gag in that there are not multiple points of view to consider, they often do not result in mishaps, and commonly deal with objects rather than events. The mimed metaphor is used in the film The Count, in which at one point Chaplin s character uses his cane like a pool cue in order to hit an object off the table. At the beginning of The Immigrant Chaplin s character is hanging over the side of the boat. The audience gets the impression that he is seasick, however we soon learn that he is actually just fishing. This is a perfect example of switch image. In the beginning, the audience is led to believe one thing, but with the revelation of new details we soon realize that our perception of the situation was wrong, and generally our perception changes to something ... Example: An apprehensive night crawled slowly by like a wounded snake, and sleep did not visit Rainsford, although the silence of a dead world was on the jungle. The Most Dangerous Game, page 32 Function: Context Rainsford is hiding from General Zaroff in the forest of Ship Trap Island. After running around in the forest and trying to make an untraceable trail, Rainsford finally rests high up in a tree.He tells himself that Zaroff will never find him, but in the back of his mind he worries about being found and killed. This makes Rainsford to feel like the night was going by very slowly and this worry kept Rainsford up for a long time. The stress from the Most Dangerous Game is getting to Rainsford s head. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The night is described as apprehensive , which means fearful of something bad happening. The night is further compared to a wounded snake, because like any wounded animal, it would move very slowly and painfully. The author is describing the night like this, to compare it to how Rainsford is feeling while he is hiding in the forest. Rainsford is very apprehensive himself, because he fears Zaroff will find him and kill him. Even so zealous a hunter as General Zaroff could not trace him there, he told himself; only the devil himself could follow that complicated trail through the jungle after dark. But, perhaps the general was a devil (pg.32). The night and a wounded snake are compared by using a simile, because a wounded snake moves slow and the night is moving slow for Rainsford. Rainsford feels like the night is so long, because he cannot fall asleep and all he can do is worry about his life. This quote is an example of simile, because it is comparing the night to a snake, which gives the reader a better understanding of what the author is trying to get ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 59. Diamond Chemicals Case Study Diamond Chemicals: Case 21 22 TO: Lucy Morris FROM: DATE: September 30, 2009 SUBJECT: Merseyside Project In this memo I will be making a recommendation for or against the Merseyside Project. With the help of a few questions that guide my memo, I will be able to determine whether or not to continue funding for the Merseyside Project. This memo will include an exhibit that will show an analysis of the Merseyside Project including the NPV and the IRR. In the DCF analysis that was provided in the case I have made a few changes to it and that will be presented later in my memo. First I will like to talk about how Diamond Chemicals evaluate its capital expenditure proposals. Before submitting a project for approval, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The IRR and NPV only changed a small percentage. Assistant Plant Manager: Although the Assistant Plant Manager made a few good points about EPC, I agree with the executive committee on the refusal to accept the EPC project. Due to the economic grounds of this project there isn t a way that you could be able to make this happen, especially with the recession. Along with that, because it has a negative NPV it is not a wise decision to make even if you add it to the polypropylene line renovations. Although the improved cash flow would be great, the executive committee is correct on rejecting the project. Treasury Staff: Explain to the treasury staff that 10% discount rate is a fair number to use because it is mentioned in the capital budgeting manual. When addressing the treasury staff, talk about what was meant by the comment and understand why they want to use 7% for the rate of return. The Merseyside Project seems to be very attractive to me. The numbers of the project I find to be the most attractive and a reason behind why I believe you should continue to promote the project for funding. The criteria I looked at to determine its attractiveness was: (1) NPV and IRR of both my exhibit and also Greystock s and (2) Requirements met by the Project. NPV and IRR: When examining the NPV and the IRR of the Merseyside project, the numbers were very attractive. It had a positive net present value and an IRR above 10 percent. By these numbers, along with others, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
