Cultural Challenges Facing Military Operations in Pan Arab...
For this assignment the cultural manifestations I selected to discuss as being important to our Unit s
success are Wasta, Deference to authority, and Tendency to seek compromise. Of course
understanding all of the cultural manifestations are important to our unit s success, but each region
within the Middle East North African (MENA) region will have their own variations based upon
which branch of Islam is dominant in the region, what that region s experience has been with the U.S.
or a Western presence in general and numerous other factors such as the prevailing socio economic
factors of the region.
By way of back ground, I thought it would be helpful to point out that the MENA region is a pretty
diverse area comprised of have s and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bottom line for our team however, is to understand that the widespread practice of wasta in the
Middle East is assumed, it is a given. So we must learn the nuances of the practice and use it to our
advantage to be successful in our mission. That means finding the right Wasta to curry influence with
the particular elders you are working with. Originally based upon family loyalty, the family is still the
primary wasta channel, but that familial relationship has expanded to include friends and
acquaintances, as well as private agreements whereby services are provided in exchange for gifts or
specific fees. In the words of one observer, Today s wasta is too often a middle man, seeking fame and
fortune by doing favors. Our job is to find that Middle Man and enter into that relationship with our
eyes wide open, knowing it isn t going to be a cheap date, but that it will be worth the lives it will save
down the road. Incidentally, the IMF, World Bank and regional economic leaders consider the taming
or conversion of wasta as necessary to the MENA Region ultimately becoming an emerging market
leader and engine of world growth, its effect in the regional economy is that debilitating. So let s do
our part to keep it that way! Where s my Wasta!?! Here wasta wasta!

How Does Tangylor Present Joey In Tangerine
The realistic fiction, Tangerine written by Edward Bloor is about a family uncovering secrets in the
first person point of view of, the main character, Paul Fisher. Sight was used multiple times, in this
novel, symbolically and was very important because the character with the worst vision is the one who
could see the most. Through the motif of sight, Paul has a growing understanding of his friends,
family and, himself.
In the first group Paul, experiences a growing understanding of his friends. Joey, one of Paul s friends,
believes that he is above better than everybody in Tangerine middle. Nah. I just said I didn t need it.
What do I need a guide dog for? A guide dog? You re calling Theresa a guide dog? (151) When Joey
calls Theresa a guide dog he says it very casually. He calls theresa that as if he doesn t even care. So
when Paul questions him, he doesn t see how upset Paul actually is or how rude he is being. However,
Pauls other friend, Tino can see certain truths about Paul. You take care of yourself, brother. I ll see

In the beginning of Tangerine Paul, doesn t understand why he has always hated and been scared of
his brother, Erik. Why didn t I answer the question? I used to have an answer ready for that question.
(39). Paul started questioning himself even though he had a story. He didn t understand why he started
to question his story. However later in the story, he starts to remember his story. I remembered Castor.
Vincent Castor... I remembered spray paint on that wall. Erik and Vincent Castor had found a can of
white spray paint, and they had painted something... You re gonna pay for telling on Castor. (263). As
soon as Paul starts remembering he, finally, starts to understand, see, why. Why he has always been
scared, hated and not wanted to confront Erik. He is finally able to uncover truth about himself, and he
feels different, happy and brave, now that he

Advertising Affects A Wide Variety
Advertising is a concept all Americans have been exposed to in their lives. It is a normal component of
life that affects Americans more than they are led to believe. Advertising is constantly evolving.
Advertising has been forced to change to meet up with the changing of times. The price spent on
advertising raises at a rapid rate each and every year. Moreover, the every increasing money spent on
advertising shows that it is effective on reaching and influencing the American consumer.
Advertising affects a wide variety and a large amount of people. According to The Statistics Portal,
The United States is, by far, the largest advertising market in the world. In 2015, more than 180 billion
U.S. dollars were spent in advertising in the United States. This figure is more than double the amount
spent in advertising in China, the second largest ad market in the world. From this, it is effortless to
see that American s are highly exposed to advertisements.
According to the International Advertising Association, Advertising can encourage companies to
compete and provide new products. This encourages more consumers to buy because these products
meet the needs and wants of more consumers. Thus, the economy is positively affected. In addition,
advertising can help create more jobs. As the demand for products and services goes up because of
advertising, more people are needed to manufacture, supply, ship and test those products and services.
Thus, more jobs are created. It has

Precision Tree calculated the EMV for medium and high production which resulted in an outcome of
$1,025,000 and $850,000 respectively. Therefore the decision with the highest predicted payoff would
be to choose the batch flow and to produce 15,000 items.
Question 2: Sensitivity Analysis In order to get a better understanding of what the key inputs or most
sensitive input variables were, a sensitivity analysis was conducted on all of the inputs involved in this
case. For the sensitivity analysis an arbitrary number of 25% was chosen to vary the inputs in order to
analyze their effects on the EMV. For the sake of clarity and simplicity we then decided to focus on
several of the main inputs (and combinations of these inputs) that had the greatest effect on the EMV
or were deemed necessary for analysis. These were: * Sales Price * Quantity of High or low Demand
* Probability of High Demand * Outsource Cost * Clearance Cost As we can see from the tornado

Pope John 23 Research Paper
Pope John XXIII was one of the most influential Popes the Catholic Church had in the 20th century,
and perhaps one of the most important in its history. What he was able to do for the Church in his
short amount of time holding the Papacy was incredible. Originally seen as a transitional Pope, John
XXIII was certainly much more than that. His work in connecting with those of different
denominations of Christianity, as well as those of different faiths, has been instrumental to this day.
And, most of all, his call for the Vatican Council II was paramount for the modernization of the
church. Because of this, this paper will show that Pope John XXIII was important to the history of the
Catholic Church by pushing it toward the 21st century and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

serve in the medical corps and as a Chaplain in the Italian Army. His experiences in the war affected

John XXIII would recall later in his life that during the war he was a, witness to the highest moral and
religious ideals for which those valiant men have not hesitated to give their lived. (Hatch p. 61). Even
though he had experienced the trauma of warfare, Pope John XXIII saw it as a blessing for his life. I

Jimmy Valentine
A Retrieving Reformation by O. Henry, details the story of the transformation of Jimmy Valentine
from a criminal to a respectable man, taking place around the early twentieth century. Jimmy
Valentine was released from prison early, due to outside connections. Jimmy was meant to serve a four
year sentence (which he only served ten months of) because he had robbed multiple banks. Against the
warden s advice, upon his release, Jimmy resumes his profession, and robs banks in Richmond,
Logansport, and Jefferson City. A detective, Ben Price, was assigned the case of the bank robberies,
and recognized the style as that of Jimmy. Meanwhile, Jimmy was now in Elmore, Arkansas. While
there, Jimmy notices a gorgeous young woman enter the bank, and in his awestruck state, he waits

Galileo Censorship Essay
Galileo and Censorship
Over two centuries ago the Catholic Church tried Galileo, because he published his book in 1632 that
supported the heliocentric ideas that originated from Copernicus. The church claimed that the
heliocentric theory went against scripture. During this time the Catholic Church believed in the idea
that the Earth was at the center of the universe. This was called the geocentric theory, which had been
around for nearly 1500 years. Galileo was tried less than a year later in 1633. The trial was private,
because the church feared the community would support him, because he was one of the most
achieved astronomers of their time. The church s committee unanimously voted that his book, the Two
Chief World Systems violated his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The committee was clinging to tradition and the knowledge that had been passed down to them for the
last 1500 years. The church took the scripture too literal, and it clouded their judgment. Galileo came
to the committee (church) with two propositions, the first being The sun is in the center of the world
and is altogether immovable in respect to local motion the second was, The earth is not the center of
the world nor it is immovable, but it moves as a whole and also with a daily motion. Within a couple
days the committee came to a conclusion that the propositions were foolish (Copernicanism, page
152). Galileo could not demonstrate the theory, so the church did not take his claim seriously. The
church felt threatened by the claim, and feared that it would weaken the power they had. This
corrupted the committees view of the book, which caused the unfair treatment Galileo received. The
treatment Galileo received justified his actions for publishing the book without the churches consent.
It was wrong to disregard Galileo s theories, because of past beliefs. The church should have been
more open minded of the idea and turned to science to disprove it rather than

Living In New York City
New York City, the American dream s shining icon and the cultural mixing pot, was just a name I
knew when I was young. Nine years ago, I finally set foot in the fabled city when my family
immigrated to the United States. The gigantic airport, JFK International, spanned miles and its
terminals stood proudly over the jumbo jets below. That night, nausea from the plane s descension and
the entropic motions of my aunt s Jeep dissuaded me from seeing the outside world. I rested my head
on my mom s lap while imagining what the city was like. Just a few days ago, I lived in ShenZhen. On
the opposite side of the Hong Kong, ShenZhen shared much of its prosperity. Thus, I believed that
New York City is no different from where I lived. However, I wanted to see the subway system that
many other cities modeled after. I was also interested in learning the American culture, such as
religions and holidays. The concept of religion was alien to me, partly because most people in China
were atheists. I woke up early in the morning, eager to see the snow outside and all the foreign
novelties. In the kitchen, my aunt and cousin were making toast and took out glass bottles of Snapple.
After breakfast, I conversed with him in broken English. We had many common interests, namely
video games and biking. So adhering to those, I spent the next few days growing accustomed to the
new city. New York City, in its grand size, cannot be explored in a few days or weeks. Its complexity,

Women Roles In Western Times
In this essay i will explain women roles during the western civilizations times. Using the book Sources
Of The Western Tradition Volume 1 by Marvin Perry as well as some other sources to gather even
more support in this essay. Women in ancient times i feel played a big role in the fall of some empires.
Not having a public voice women used other ways to make impacts in their times .
During the middle ages women were basically 2nd class members with the expectations of having
control of the household and raising children, sorta like a shift manager.
Females social statuses self explained what their role and life was in medieval times. High status
women spent their lives running the household and raising children. Lower class women and or
families were expected to help with a family business of some sort .
If a wife was apart of the working class her job options were likely spinners, saleswomen and bakers .
Sometimes the women were forced to work physically demanding jobs making less money than men.
Noble women on the other hand were given a lot of respect but still had no say in their husband
decision. Still and yet females had a great deal of influence even more for those who were nobile or
apart of a royal family. Lastly a father can pass down titles and estates to their daughters.
In Athenians homes women were really not allowed to leave. They were not allowed to even go into a
marketplace. Women were not allowed to eat at the same table as their husband as well as

Social Media s Impact On Society
In today s society not all people welcome social media into their lives and thus restrict their access and
or involvement when it comes to the abundances of social media outlets. However, social media has
indeed taken the lives of our children, adolescents, and families by the collar. Social media plays a
pivotal part affecting everyday life as we know it today. Despite these claims, the advancements in
technology have evolved, thus creating a society that thrives on the dependency of social media
outlets. This addiction is the craving of being instantly connected to everything and everyone. Being
connected and having instant access to this so called Information Highway, surely allows for
convenience and simplicity, but this also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Over the past years, social media truly has become something much more than just the typical esoteric
jumble of technologies, but instead has driven contemporary culture offering sites and services to
accommodate everyone and everything your heart desires. With advancements in technology
becoming the forefront of our information and communication ecosystem. These social networking
platforms are literally taking over the business arena becoming the driving force in determining
whether a business is staying relevant, not to mention taking advantage of emerging opportunities. As
of today there have been a surge of social media outlets which have made their way into mainstream
society. Today, many of these platforms are commonly known as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram,
Pinterest, Snapchat, LinkedIn, LinkedIn Pulse, Google+, Xing, Renren, Disqus, Tumblr, Twoo,
MyMFB, YouTube and Vine. When browsing these particular sites people become connected to a
much larger community with a press of a button. These online or virtual communities occasionally
trump the populations of countries. However, such ease with these casual connections in a very fast
paced technological world also has many downsides. Social media has made it much more
complicated for people to distinguish between meaningful and productive relationships in which we
foster and cherish for the long haul versus the numerous casual relationships formed through social
media.

Hsc300 Unit 1 Assignment
For this assignment I reached out to an instructor at Lakeland College who is also a professional
school counselor named Wendy Falk. Wendy was happy to complete an interview with me and
provided information about herself including what assessments she uses, her theoretical orientation,
and why these assessments are used. Wendy also spoke about her school counseling position, a
difficult case she was presented with, and her opinion on the use of assessments. Additional research
was conducted to learn more about the assessments she discussed.
Biographical Information Wendy and I discussed her degree and educational background. Wendy
earned her bachelor s degree from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh in science education with an
emphasis in English and journalism. For 13 years Wendy worked as an English teacher but stated, She
always had a love for counseling (personal communication, July 7, 2015). She made the decision to

why she relates to Glasser s approach. Solution focus/brief therapy is another theory that she uses in
her school counseling practice and it was noted that solution focus/brief therapy is a time saver. My
personal theoretical orientation is similar to Wendy s and I have a strong appreciation of the solution
focus/brief therapy due to its fast paced nature, which is often needed in a school counseling practice.
School counselors do not have unlimited time or many sessions with their students. Therefore having
a fast approach to solving the problem such as solution focused/brief therapy is important and

Parental Influence on Clashes with Society in Love in the...
Individuals are generally perceived to be productions of their upbringings and socialization. Latin
author, Gabriel García Márquez and Algerian writer Albert Camus, introduce how their characters
conflict with socialization as a result of their cultivation in Love in the Time of Cholera and The
Stranger respectively. In Márquez s novel, the key female role is assigned to Fermina Daza, a middle
class Latina in the 1800s 1900s, expected to hold prestige and marry wealthy by her father and
societal pressures. In The Stranger, Meursault, the protagonist, develops a niche for logic rather than

Márquez s tone in Lorenzo s actions was violent to make his opposition vivid, while Fermina s fear
influenced her decision to do something out of societal norms. In retaliation to his controlling ways,
she cuts off her braid, which in Latin culture, represents beauty in women, symbolizing that she
neither wanted nor cared to be affiliated by generic beauty expected by society, but instead to be
identified as an individual.
Lorenzo Daza s obsession with progression of status interferes with his daughter s development as a
conventional woman. He claims, the only thing worse than bad health is a bad name (Márquez 81).
His opposition to their natural lifestyle and controlling manner is a catalyst of Fermina s later clashes
with male roles in the novel. For example, she ultimately marries Dr. Urbino as her father wished,
characterized as a fastidious and esteemed man; however her relationship with him suffers. After,
Fermina discovers that her husband took partition in an affair with a mullata, she unlike many

Quoting and Citing in NARS  To quote sources in your own paper, type quotations of three lines or
fewer in the text. Type the lines you quote exactly as they appear in the original work. Give the author

the closing punctuation. Note these examples: According to Philips, public perceptions of Rottweilers
are negatively driven by news articles of dog attacks, even when the breed involved is not a Rottweiler

work you are referring to, you do not need to include titles in citations. But if you are comparing two
or more books by the same author and it is not clear which you are referring to, you should include a
shortened version of the work s title (e.g., Carl Goes to Daycare) in the citation. Such a citation would
look like this: (Day, Carl Goes to Daycare 12).  Quotations of four lines or more should be set apart
in a block quotation and indented one inch from the margin. No quotation marks are used for block

The Importance Of A Hero And Frederick Douglass
Embedded Assessment 1.1 A hero is no braver than an ordinary man, but he is brave five minutes
longer, (Ralph Waldo Emerson). A hero is just like an ordinary person, but they make a choice to
rescue someone, and put their life on the line. For instance, a hero is valiant when they need to be,
sacrifices themself for another, and they don t put another in harm s way.
A heroic person is undaunted by fearsome situations and uses courage when it is needed. When a hero
sees someone in danger, they aren t quite a hero yet. They are just a regular person that springs into
action to save someone. At the Primrose Daycare, a car crashed into a fence, almost running over
some children. A teacher that was nearby tried to shield the kids, [and] she got the brunt of it,
(NBCDFW, Injured in Crash at Frisco Daycare). This woman is a prime example of courage and her
quick actions saved them all. Similarly, Frederick Douglass displayed this amount of courage as well.
Frederick Douglass was a slave that had to be brave and escape himself and others from the wrath of
slavery. This is what the people saved by Douglass think about him, When it is finally ours, this
freedom, this liberty, this beautiful and terrible thing...this man, this Douglass, this former slave, this
Negro beaten to his knees, exiled, visioning a world where not is lonely, none hunted, alien, this man
shall be remembered, (Hayden 81). Frederick had to be strong and stealthy to make the journey to the
North. Both of

Robert Altman s Film Adaptation of Raymond Carver s Short Cuts
The characters in Robert Altman s film adaptation of the Raymond Carver anthology Short Cuts think
they re islands entire of themselves. They suspect their lives and their worlds of isolation, alienation,
separation, in multiple senses of the words. They fail to see, or perhaps purposely ignore, connections
between themselves and those around them, between their actions and the ramifications of those
actions. And while a typical director of a slice of life work might be content to show all these people
in their ignorance of connections, what makes Altman s final product so marvelous is the way he toys
with them, and the comments he makes about them.
The obvious route ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But mostly it shows in the acting, in the narrative. The scene in which Gordon and Honey get each
other s sets of photographs back from the developer is one of the most noticeable examples of this: the
characters stories are thoroughly independent of each other, and they might never have interacted if
not for this scene. One of its main purposes is simply to let us know that all of these people are
existing in the same world, the same town, that in some way, in a city inhabited by hundreds of
thousands of people, the lives of these particular people do intersect. A similar function is served by
the scene in which Jerry comes to clean the Finnigans pool. Here we learn that the Finnigans live next
door to Tess and Zoe, whose pool Jerry will later clean (because of the interaction in this scene), and
both of whom are musicians who will eventually perform for perhaps a quarter to a third of the cast.
Altman s eight track dialogue technique is used effectively here to reinforce the notion that the
characters spatial proximity doesn t prevent them from leading isolated lives.
Another scene which, in my mind, is even better for this purpose is the one in which we first see the
bakery. In this, three storylines converge: Stormy buys a cake for Betty, Ann places an order for Casey
s birthday cake, and Claire stops in on her way to a performance

Economic Development In The United States
In the United States, about 30 percent of land area belongs to the federal government, and state
government owns about 10 percent of the national land area (U.S. DOI/BLM, 2014). These public
lands provide economic and environmental benefits for the surrounding communities by providing
natural resources for commodity production including timber, mining, and grazing, by offering natural
amenities and recreational opportunities that attract tourists and migrants, and by protecting wildlife
and their habitats, clean water, biodiversity, and general ecosystem function (Lewis et al., 2003; Cline

development in their surrounding local communities.

applied within the contemporary agricultural policy debate, the concept of multifunctionality can be

Cell Membrane And The Cell Body
Neurons are made up of four regions, the cell body, dendrites, axons and presynaptic terminal. The
cell body (soma) contains the nucleus of a neuron and the endoplasmic reticulum. Extending out from
the cell body are processes called dendrites and axons. These processes conduct nerve impulses.
Dendrites conduct impulses toward the cell body while axons conduct impulses away from the cell
body. A fatty sheath called myelin sheath encases axons. It is the greatly expanded plasma membrane
of an accessory cell called the Schwann cell where the sheath of one Schwann cell meets the next. The
axolemma is the portion of the cell membrane surrounding the axon of a neuron and is responsible for
maintaining the membrane potential of the neuron. A single neuron, especially one in the central
nervous system may have thousands of other neurons synapsing on it. Some of these release activating
(depolarizing) neurotransmitters; others release inhibitory (hyperpolarizing) neurotransmitters.
An inactive or resting neuron actively pumps sodium out of the cell and potassium into the cell to
maintain equilibrium. However, the plasma membrane is more permeable to potassium than to
sodium, which results in some potassium to diffuse out of the neurons. Large, negatively charged
proteins such as phosphate and sulfate cannot diffuse out of the neuron. This results in a net excess of
positively charged ions outside the neuron membrane and net excess of negatively charged ions inside
the neuron.

Fair Time Is A Great Time For The City
Fair Time The Alabama National Fair in Montgomery, Alabama is a great time for the city. It provides
us residents with a good time that we don t reallt get to experience on the regular. Even though the
rides are broke down, and most of the time not even safe at all. It still can put a smile on someones
face to know that fair will be in town soon. Something that the fair can offer that s actually something
people run to the gates for is the wonderful greasy food. I have searched high and low, and the only
place that I can find a good foot long corndog is at the fair. The fair will always be one of the best
times in Montgomery. I have been going to fair for as long as I can remember. I still get somewhat
excited to here that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When I am in the middle of the midway, I do not know where to go there are so many things to choose
from. I literraly need a full day to go to this fair because it is just that good. I could either go get a
wristband to have unlimited rides or I could just get tickets to ride a limited amount of times. It is
already known that the wristband is the best way to go if one wants to really enjoy themselves at the
fair. Who would not want to go on the these faboulous dangerous rides more than once? Definitely not
me. I always get the wristband. The first thing I always do is of course I go to the broke down rides
and test them out. One would look at these rides and make the quick assumption of, I would not dare
step a foot on this dangerous looking ride. But once that person does get on the ride they can have a
really fun time. When I see a person on one of these fair rides, I always see them smiling, and having
fun. Unless the ride is making them sick so I quickly turn away. So the sterotype of fair rides being
boring and not fun are completely false in my opinion. After the rides before I get to the food I have to
make it through the midway, and listen to the workers of the fair games yelling at me to play their
games. I m a competiotor so I have to give some of these games a shot. The games at the fair are
obviously rigged, prime example is the basketball shot. A regular standard basketball rim is not as

The theme of the book, The Magician Nephew by C.S. Lewis is, resist temptation otherwise there will
be severe repercussions ahead, the three reasons are that when Polly was tempted to touch the yellow
ring causing her to disappear, Digory was tempted to ring a bell making Jadis to wake up, and lastly
Digory was tempted to eat the apple that Jadis encouraged him. Firstly, the theme was present in the
story when Polly was tempted to touch the yellow ring causing her to disappear. When Polly and
Digory were exploring Digory s uncle who is called Andrew has an abandoned laboratory that he does
his experiments, but ever since then he stopped. When Polly and Digory were exploring his
abandoned laboratory, they stumble across two different colour rings. One of them is yellow and the
other is green on a red tray. But what she noticed first was a bright red wooden tray with a number of
rings on it. They were in pairs a yellow one and a green one together, then a little space, and then
another yellow one and another green one. They were no bigger than ordinary rings, and no one could
help noticing them because they were so bright. (C.S. Lewis, 13) After they discovered the

Summary Of The Woman Warrior By Maxine Hong Kingston
John Hilcher
English Comp 122
Professor Ivalotis
20 January 2016
Subjugation of Women in No Name Woman
The Story Woman Warrior written by Maxine Hong Kingston in 1975, is a great representation of
what woman are characterized as in regards to being submissive or rebellious in their society, and
how, even though they are harshly treated, the women fight back instead of letting themselves be
subjugated, it exemplifies the hardships women face in their lives. In The Woman Warrior: Memoirs
of a Girlhood Among Ghosts, Author Maxine Hong Kingston brings to the table a bunch of allegorical
and life stories that bring upon the hardships in which she, herself, must deal with the sexist ideology
and prejudice growing up young Chinese American girl. Throughout her life she was called such racist
and stereotypical names such as gook and is repeatedly told such chauvinist Chinese sayings like girls
are maggots in the rice by her own flesh and blood; her parents. Maxine Hong Kingston feels isolated
from modern American culture and from the patriarchal Chinese culture.
In her recollection of her memories she reminisces of her search for female archetypes, while
involving some imaginative stories associating Chinese characters as Fa Mu Lan, a woman warrior
known to China; with thoughts of her own obstinate mother, Brave Orchid. Through these numerous
accounts, the narrator searches to proclaim her identity as a Chinese American female in her own
bicultural world. Amidst

On October 14, 2010, the United States Attorney s Office for the Central District of California
announced that CVS Pharmacy, Inc. was fined $77 million (including $75 million civil penalty and the
forfeit of $2.5 million profit) for its unlawful sales of pseudoephedrine, a regulated drug, to criminals

employees who are responsible for directly dealing with customer purchases. Drugstores must ensure
that these employees understand the legal requirements and follow proper procedures. Drugstores

employees have undergone the required training.
In accordance with the CMEA, U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration (DES)
specified some specific rules (U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration, 2006)

Security Risks with Small Businesses Within the decade alone there has been a growth in hackers
attacking smaller businesses, company breaches and identity thefts have risen and resulted in millions
of people s information being on full display to an absolute stranger. Hackers have breached half of
the 28 million small businesses in the United States. Larger businesses spend hundreds of thousands
or even millions, of dollars on cybersecurity, but when it comes to small businesses, many owners
aren t spending enough for the right protection. Many companies in all industries are hit with a
malware attack that at first does nothing, some hackers use security lapses in small businesses as an

Customer Information Whenever a customer gives you personal or classified information to complete
an application, transaction, or another request, you owe them protection and privacy. If data you have
in your possession is leaked whether on purpose or carelessly, you could be held accountable. One of
the distinguished biggest mistakes small businesses make is using a shared server to keep their files in.
It makes sense why shared servers are chosen, they re cheap and very acceptable, but when you look
at the future consequences, it becomes clear that the upfront savings aren t worth the long term risks.
Even if you need to cut costs in other areas to make it happen, it s critically important that you switch
your business over to a dedicated server. When you use a dedicated server, you no longer must run
your websites, programs, and scripts on the same machine as other companies and individuals. This
means you instantly increase your security and don t have to deal with the risk of being hacked by an
outside party within your own server. Few things are as important as data encryption in today s cyber
security field. While it s best to prevent hackers from gaining access to your systems in the first place,
encryption technology essentially renders your data useless, should it wind up in the wrong hands. Be
sure to set up a regular schedule to update your data encryption so that you re always using the most

Urban China Research Paper
Urban China is a beautiful place to live in. For instance, those that live in Urban China have a high
income, a high population, have people that focus on what children do throughout the day, and make
sure that children are provided with an enormous amount of education. I, personally would like to live
in Urban China. The Urban part of China has so much to offer, it is not a big surprise that many people
decide to live there. I would love to live in Urban China, along with the other people that already do.
The first reason why I would like to live in Urban China is because of the high income and the
population. The income that people can make is $4,000. The article Rural Life in China explained,

For instance, from the video Families of China, Yu Qinbo explained that her school has fifteen
hundred students attending the school, which is still relatively new because it was built in 1996. Since
the government takes education into a high consideration, they make sure that everyone is welcome in
the school, that the school is up to date for the students, and that everyone is accommodated. The
government also believes that the education they provide will help with their future. The government
is preparing the students for what is yet to come, which gives Urban China another amazing aspect.
The school day is also extended. From the video Families of China, Yu explained that she wakes up at
six in the morning for school and gets back home at five in the evening. During the lengthy day the
kids have exercise classes and do exercises to rest their eyes twice a day. Having an exercise class and
exercises that rest their eyes is great because they are able to have an elongated day while getting
exercise for their growing bodies and also being able to work for a longer period of time by relaxing
their eyes. Lastly, Urban China has after school activities that the students attend. In the video Yu
attended an English club. The children were able to speak small sentences and parts of songs that you
would normally hear in the United States. This is another great quality of the education that Urban
China provides. Since students or anyone that lives in Urban China can travel to English speaking
countries or come upon a sentence or television show that involves English, they will be able to
understand what is being spoken thanks to the amazing education that is being provided. Urban China

Women s Physical And Outer Appearance
Men and women s physical or outer appearance is nowadays playing an important role in promoting
false images of the two genders, especially through the media. When you think about the ideal body
image, what crosses your mind? You probably think of a bodybuilder with a chiseled six pack or a
gorgeous model with a small waist. The idea of the perfect body image in today s society stems from
the misguided idealism of the media. It is seen in Hollywood movies, beauty magazines and even
marketing advertisements. Since a young age, our generation has been influenced by what the perfect
body should look like. It is implanted in our minds that we should look a certain way without even
realizing it. Therefore, the media has a direct effect on how the general public views what is and what
isn t acceptable in regard to the standard of perfect physical attractiveness. By establishing
unattainable standards of beauty and bodily perfection, the media drive ordinary people to
dissatisfaction with their body images. This dissatisfaction can result in resorts to drastic measures,
and even disorders of behaviour, as people try to achieve these unreachable goals. It is often said that
beauty is in the mind of the beholder. For that reason, different perceptions of beauty should not affect
human beings since everyone has a different view on beauty. However, beauty tends to have a
significant impact on young teens nowadays, particularly in the fashion industry, which leads to
consequences for

Siddhartha and Narcissus and Goldmund Comparative Essay
Siddhartha and Narcissus and Goldmund
Comparative Essay
Hermann Hesse was a man that lived from 1877 and 1962 and faced a life of struggle as he coped with
the effects of war. During this period of time the theme of finding yourself was quite popular and
experiences affect his works. Hesse wrote both Narcissus And Goldmund and Siddhartha, two books
that are about men who are searching for who they are. The novels themselves have various ideas in
common, even small details, but are two different pieces of work.
The protagonists in both these books are out on a quest to find themselves, who they are and what they
are doing. Both Siddhartha and Goldmund start off strictly bound to their fate but drift to other ideas,
like Siddhartha going ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The leave of these two characters is a shock to their friends Govinda and Narcissus. During the
journeys, the wanderers seem to venture and finally come upon a place they had been before. Just like
how Siddhartha returned to the river and Goldmund goes to the cloister. Although they reach the same
places they ve been to, things change for them as they near the end of their long paths. Both are wiser
and have much more experience than they did when they came upon these places the first time. Also
another recurring theme is the idea that eventually everything comes back. It s shown in Narcissus and
Goldmund how Goldmund goes back to the cloister and in Siddhartha how he returns to the river.
Even further than that is the fact that even friends come back where Narcissus comes upon the
opportunity to save Goldmund s life after many years of not seeing him, and how Govinda meets this
new sage, his old friend Siddhartha.
The quests of the two protagonists seem to follow the same trend. The two of them, Goldmund and
Siddhartha, start their quests in families that are well to do. (Siddhartha is a Brahmin and Goldmund s
father is in the upper class). Next they both go into a spiritual frenzy as Siddhartha becomes enveloped
in mortification of the flesh as an ascetic and Goldmund studies his religion ardently. After that both
characters suffer an awakening to something bigger and

Belgian Malinois Are Extremely Good Working Dogs
dogs are great working dogs, but sadly this breed has a lot of issues, both mentally and physically. (21
22)
Belgian Malinois are extremely good working dogs. This breed is not as well known as the German
Shepherd, but it definitely competes with the German Shepherd in how all around outstand the breed
is. The main issue in this breed is the fact that it is too eager to work. It s eagerness is so great that it
often becomes sloppy in its work.
Ingle 6
Correct temperament is essential to a good working Malinois. Malinois are a confident breed showing
neither shyness nor aggressiveness in new situations. The dog may not like new people, but Malinois
are affectionate with their owner and family. The breed is naturally protective of its owner and their
property. The Malinois has a strong desire to work and is quick to respond to commands.(25)
Malinois are fast and have a good, strong bite, and it is quite easy to motivate them in bite work.
Malinois also are both mentally and physically strong dogs. When the dog has a bad experience often
encouragement from their owner will bring them back to working hard again. (25)
Until 1839 Belgium was part of Holland, so originally the Dutch Shepherd was related to the Belgian
Shepherd dogs and also to the German Shepherd. The Dutch Shepherd was originally used as a sheep
dog, the dog would protect and herd the sheep. This enabled the breed to do other tasks, some of them
being police dogs and protection dogs. (25 26)

STUDENT CONSCIOUSNESS TOWARDS LITTERING IN PAU CAMPUS
A paper

Jacinta Kaupa
Aim : The aim of this survey was to find out how conscious the students are towards littering.
Introduction
Pacific Adventist University is an institution where people from all over the Pacific, Papua New
Guinea and other parts of the world come to learn and get educated. Indeed it is the most beautiful
place in Papua New Guinea as most critics say. This is because of the landscape and the well
preserved lawn with the variety of birds and the lakes. However, it is not as beautiful as many people

The behavior of the students consciousness towards littering in the campus is not really getting out of
hand. Not all students have the don t care attitude as the result is stating. Students falls into two
different categories. There are students who have the heart to keep their study environment clean and
there are those who do not. Those that practice littering have a fair idea that it is wrong. But yet they
tend do it without thinking. The next paragraph will describe further on such behavior of the students .
According to the result everybody is trying to say that they do not want littering. For the positive
statements they are responding positively and for the negative statement they are responding
negatively. Students may not want to discard rubbishes like piece of paper or an empty packet of
something anywhere, but apparently they do. This may happen due to laziness, maybe because
ofdistance between them and the rubbish bin. They do not want to walk because it might take some of
their time (time factor). This clearly shows that students have attitude problem even though they are
educated. Knowing that littering is wrong and yet doing it can explain that there is an attitude
problem. Cialdini and others (1981:255) strongly agree that littering is a measure of attitude . Littering
especially occurs when someone (who cares) is not watchingor witnessing

  • 2. Cultural Challenges Facing Military Operations in Pan Arab... For this assignment the cultural manifestations I selected to discuss as being important to our Unit s success are Wasta, Deference to authority, and Tendency to seek compromise. Of course understanding all of the cultural manifestations are important to our unit s success, but each region within the Middle East North African (MENA) region will have their own variations based upon which branch of Islam is dominant in the region, what that region s experience has been with the U.S. or a Western presence in general and numerous other factors such as the prevailing socio economic factors of the region. By way of back ground, I thought it would be helpful to point out that the MENA region is a pretty diverse area comprised of have s and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The bottom line for our team however, is to understand that the widespread practice of wasta in the Middle East is assumed, it is a given. So we must learn the nuances of the practice and use it to our advantage to be successful in our mission. That means finding the right Wasta to curry influence with the particular elders you are working with. Originally based upon family loyalty, the family is still the primary wasta channel, but that familial relationship has expanded to include friends and acquaintances, as well as private agreements whereby services are provided in exchange for gifts or specific fees. In the words of one observer, Today s wasta is too often a middle man, seeking fame and fortune by doing favors. Our job is to find that Middle Man and enter into that relationship with our eyes wide open, knowing it isn t going to be a cheap date, but that it will be worth the lives it will save down the road. Incidentally, the IMF, World Bank and regional economic leaders consider the taming or conversion of wasta as necessary to the MENA Region ultimately becoming an emerging market leader and engine of world growth, its effect in the regional economy is that debilitating. So let s do our part to keep it that way! Where s my Wasta!?! Here wasta wasta! Deference to Authority: As LTC Wunderle describes, Arab culture favors ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He didn t understand why he started to question his story. However later in the story, he starts to remember his story. I remembered Castor. Vincent Castor... I remembered spray paint on that wall. It is a normal component of life that affects Americans more than they are led to believe. Advertising is constantly evolving. Advertising has been forced to change to meet up with the changing of times. The price spent on advertising raises at a rapid rate each and every year. Moreover, the every increasing money spent on advertising shows that it is effective on reaching and influencing the American consumer. Advertising affects a wide variety and a large amount of people. According to The Statistics Portal, The United States is, by far, the largest advertising market in the world. In 2015, more than 180 billion U.S. dollars were spent in advertising in the United States. This figure is more than double the amount spent in advertising in China, the second largest ad market in the world. From this, it is effortless to see that American s are highly exposed to advertisements. According to the International Advertising Association, Advertising can encourage companies to compete and provide new products. This encourages more consumers to buy because these products meet the needs and wants of more consumers. Thus, the economy is positively affected. In addition, advertising can help create more jobs. Therefore the decision with the highest predicted payoff would be to choose the batch flow and to produce 15,000 items. Question 2: Sensitivity Analysis In order to get a better understanding of what the key inputs or most sensitive input variables were, a sensitivity analysis was conducted on all of the inputs involved in this case. For the sensitivity analysis an arbitrary number of 25% was chosen to vary the inputs in order to analyze their effects on the EMV. For the sake of clarity and simplicity we then decided to focus on several of the main inputs (and combinations of these inputs) that had the greatest effect on the EMV or were deemed necessary for analysis. These were: * Sales Price * Quantity of High or low Demand * Probability of High Demand * Outsource Cost * Clearance Cost As we can see from the tornado graph [Figures D E] the EMV of the decision tree was most sensitive to the variations in the sales price of the avalanche racer. An increase/decrease of 25% of the sales price of the Avalanche Racer led to an approximate increase/decrease of the EMV by 90% which is statistically significant. This was further supported by the spider graph [Figure F], in which the sales price was also shown as having the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Pope John 23 Research Paper Pope John XXIII was one of the most influential Popes the Catholic Church had in the 20th century, and perhaps one of the most important in its history. What he was able to do for the Church in his short amount of time holding the Papacy was incredible. Originally seen as a transitional Pope, John XXIII was certainly much more than that. His work in connecting with those of different denominations of Christianity, as well as those of different faiths, has been instrumental to this day. And, most of all, his call for the Vatican Council II was paramount for the modernization of the church. A detective, Ben Price, was assigned the case of the bank robberies, and recognized the style as that of Jimmy. Meanwhile, Jimmy was now in Elmore, Arkansas. • 8. Galileo Censorship Essay Galileo and Censorship Over two centuries ago the Catholic Church tried Galileo, because he published his book in 1632 that supported the heliocentric ideas that originated from Copernicus. The church claimed that the heliocentric theory went against scripture. During this time the Catholic Church believed in the idea that the Earth was at the center of the universe. This was called the geocentric theory, which had been around for nearly 1500 years. Galileo was tried less than a year later in 1633. The trial was private, because the church feared the community would support him, because he was one of the most achieved astronomers of their time. The church s committee unanimously voted that his book, the Two Chief World Systems violated his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The committee was clinging to tradition and the knowledge that had been passed down to them for the last 1500 years. The church took the scripture too literal, and it clouded their judgment. Galileo came to the committee (church) with two propositions, the first being The sun is in the center of the world and is altogether immovable in respect to local motion the second was, The earth is not the center of the world nor it is immovable, but it moves as a whole and also with a daily motion. Within a couple days the committee came to a conclusion that the propositions were foolish (Copernicanism, page 152). Galileo could not demonstrate the theory, so the church did not take his claim seriously. The church felt threatened by the claim, and feared that it would weaken the power they had. This corrupted the committees view of the book, which caused the unfair treatment Galileo received. The treatment Galileo received justified his actions for publishing the book without the churches consent. It was wrong to disregard Galileo s theories, because of past beliefs. • 9. Living In New York City New York City, the American dream s shining icon and the cultural mixing pot, was just a name I knew when I was young. Nine years ago, I finally set foot in the fabled city when my family immigrated to the United States. The gigantic airport, JFK International, spanned miles and its terminals stood proudly over the jumbo jets below. That night, nausea from the plane s descension and the entropic motions of my aunt s Jeep dissuaded me from seeing the outside world. I rested my head on my mom s lap while imagining what the city was like. Just a few days ago, I lived in ShenZhen. On the opposite side of the Hong Kong, ShenZhen shared much of its prosperity. Thus, I believed that New York City is no different from where I lived. However, I wanted to see the subway system that many other cities modeled after. I was also interested in learning the American culture, such as religions and holidays. The concept of religion was alien to me, partly because most people in China were atheists. I woke up early in the morning, eager to see the snow outside and all the foreign novelties. In the kitchen, my aunt and cousin were making toast and took out glass bottles of Snapple. After breakfast, I conversed with him in broken English. We had many common interests, namely video games and biking. So adhering to those, I spent the next few days growing accustomed to the new city. New York City, in its grand size, cannot be explored in a few days or weeks. Its complexity, in spite of the ... • 10. Women Roles In Western Times In this essay i will explain women roles during the western civilizations times. Using the book Sources Of The Western Tradition Volume 1 by Marvin Perry as well as some other sources to gather even more support in this essay. Women in ancient times i feel played a big role in the fall of some empires. Not having a public voice women used other ways to make impacts in their times . During the middle ages women were basically 2nd class members with the expectations of having control of the household and raising children, sorta like a shift manager. Females social statuses self explained what their role and life was in medieval times. High status women spent their lives running the household and raising children. Lower class women and or families were expected to help with a family business of some sort . If a wife was apart of the working class her job options were likely spinners, saleswomen and bakers . Sometimes the women were forced to work physically demanding jobs making less money than men. Noble women on the other hand were given a lot of respect but still had no say in their husband decision. Still and yet females had a great deal of influence even more for those who were nobile or apart of a royal family. Lastly a father can pass down titles and estates to their daughters. In Athenians homes women were really not allowed to leave. They were not allowed to even go into a marketplace. Women were not allowed to eat at the same table as their husband as well as ... Social Media s Impact On Society In today s society not all people welcome social media into their lives and thus restrict their access and or involvement when it comes to the abundances of social media outlets. However, social media has indeed taken the lives of our children, adolescents, and families by the collar. Social media plays a pivotal part affecting everyday life as we know it today. Despite these claims, the advancements in technology have evolved, thus creating a society that thrives on the dependency of social media outlets. With advancements in technology becoming the forefront of our information and communication ecosystem. These social networking platforms are literally taking over the business arena becoming the driving force in determining whether a business is staying relevant, not to mention taking advantage of emerging opportunities. As of today there have been a surge of social media outlets which have made their way into mainstream society. Today, many of these platforms are commonly known as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Snapchat, LinkedIn, LinkedIn Pulse, Google+, Xing, Renren, Disqus, Tumblr, Twoo, MyMFB, YouTube and Vine. When browsing these particular sites people become connected to a much larger community with a press of a button. These online or virtual communities occasionally trump the populations of countries. However, such ease with these casual connections in a very fast paced technological world also has many downsides. Social media has made it much more complicated for people to distinguish between meaningful and productive relationships in which we foster and cherish for the long haul versus the numerous casual relationships formed through social media. ... Wendy was happy to complete an interview with me and provided information about herself including what assessments she uses, her theoretical orientation, and why these assessments are used. Wendy also spoke about her school counseling position, a difficult case she was presented with, and her opinion on the use of assessments. Additional research was conducted to learn more about the assessments she discussed. Biographical Information Wendy and I discussed her degree and educational background. Latin author, Gabriel García Márquez and Algerian writer Albert Camus, introduce how their characters conflict with socialization as a result of their cultivation in Love in the Time of Cholera and The Stranger respectively. In Márquez s novel, the key female role is assigned to Fermina Daza, a middle class Latina in the 1800s 1900s, expected to hold prestige and marry wealthy by her father and societal pressures. Lorenzo Daza s obsession with progression of status interferes with his daughter s development as a conventional woman. He claims, the only thing worse than bad health is a bad name (Márquez 81). His opposition to their natural lifestyle and controlling manner is a catalyst of Fermina s later clashes with male roles in the novel. • 15. The Importance Of A Hero And Frederick Douglass Embedded Assessment 1.1 A hero is no braver than an ordinary man, but he is brave five minutes longer, (Ralph Waldo Emerson). A hero is just like an ordinary person, but they make a choice to rescue someone, and put their life on the line. For instance, a hero is valiant when they need to be, sacrifices themself for another, and they don t put another in harm s way. A heroic person is undaunted by fearsome situations and uses courage when it is needed. When a hero sees someone in danger, they aren t quite a hero yet. They are just a regular person that springs into action to save someone. At the Primrose Daycare, a car crashed into a fence, almost running over some children. A teacher that was nearby tried to shield the kids, [and] she got the brunt of it, (NBCDFW, Injured in Crash at Frisco Daycare). This woman is a prime example of courage and her quick actions saved them all. Similarly, Frederick Douglass displayed this amount of courage as well. Frederick Douglass was a slave that had to be brave and escape himself and others from the wrath of slavery. This is what the people saved by Douglass think about him, When it is finally ours, this freedom, this liberty, this beautiful and terrible thing...this man, this Douglass, this former slave, this Negro beaten to his knees, exiled, visioning a world where not is lonely, none hunted, alien, this man shall be remembered, (Hayden 81). • 16. Robert Altman s Film Adaptation of Raymond Carver s Short... Robert Altman s Film Adaptation of Raymond Carver s Short Cuts The characters in Robert Altman s film adaptation of the Raymond Carver anthology Short Cuts think they re islands entire of themselves. They suspect their lives and their worlds of isolation, alienation, separation, in multiple senses of the words. They fail to see, or perhaps purposely ignore, connections between themselves and those around them, between their actions and the ramifications of those actions. And while a typical director of a slice of life work might be content to show all these people in their ignorance of connections, what makes Altman s final product so marvelous is the way he toys with them, and the comments he makes about them. The obvious route ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But mostly it shows in the acting, in the narrative. The scene in which Gordon and Honey get each other s sets of photographs back from the developer is one of the most noticeable examples of this: the characters stories are thoroughly independent of each other, and they might never have interacted if not for this scene. One of its main purposes is simply to let us know that all of these people are existing in the same world, the same town, that in some way, in a city inhabited by hundreds of thousands of people, the lives of these particular people do intersect. A similar function is served by the scene in which Jerry comes to clean the Finnigans pool. Here we learn that the Finnigans live next door to Tess and Zoe, whose pool Jerry will later clean (because of the interaction in this scene), and both of whom are musicians who will eventually perform for perhaps a quarter to a third of the cast. Altman s eight track dialogue technique is used effectively here to reinforce the notion that the characters spatial proximity doesn t prevent them from leading isolated lives. Another scene which, in my mind, is even better for this purpose is the one in which we first see the bakery. In this, three storylines converge: Stormy buys a cake for Betty, Ann places an order for Casey s birthday cake, and Claire stops in on her way to a performance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. Cell Membrane And The Cell Body Neurons are made up of four regions, the cell body, dendrites, axons and presynaptic terminal. The cell body (soma) contains the nucleus of a neuron and the endoplasmic reticulum. Extending out from the cell body are processes called dendrites and axons. These processes conduct nerve impulses. Dendrites conduct impulses toward the cell body while axons conduct impulses away from the cell body. A fatty sheath called myelin sheath encases axons. It is the greatly expanded plasma membrane of an accessory cell called the Schwann cell where the sheath of one Schwann cell meets the next. The axolemma is the portion of the cell membrane surrounding the axon of a neuron and is responsible for maintaining the membrane potential of the neuron. A single neuron, especially one in the central nervous system may have thousands of other neurons synapsing on it. Some of these release activating (depolarizing) neurotransmitters; others release inhibitory (hyperpolarizing) neurotransmitters. An inactive or resting neuron actively pumps sodium out of the cell and potassium into the cell to maintain equilibrium. However, the plasma membrane is more permeable to potassium than to sodium, which results in some potassium to diffuse out of the neurons. Large, negatively charged proteins such as phosphate and sulfate cannot diffuse out of the neuron. This results in a net excess of positively charged ions outside the neuron membrane and net excess of negatively charged ions inside the neuron. When ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When you think about the ideal body image, what crosses your mind? You probably think of a bodybuilder with a chiseled six pack or a gorgeous model with a small waist. The idea of the perfect body image in today s society stems from the misguided idealism of the media. It is seen in Hollywood movies, beauty magazines and even marketing advertisements. Since a young age, our generation has been influenced by what the perfect body should look like. It is implanted in our minds that we should look a certain way without even realizing it. Therefore, the media has a direct effect on how the general public views what is and what isn t acceptable in regard to the standard of perfect physical attractiveness. By establishing unattainable standards of beauty and bodily perfection, the media drive ordinary people to dissatisfaction with their body images. This dissatisfaction can result in resorts to drastic measures, and even disorders of behaviour, as people try to achieve these unreachable goals.
