U.s National Debt And History
US national debt and history
The national debt of US is the amount owed by the federal government. In the past decade, $12.7
trillion have been added to the US national debt and at the end of fiscal year of 2016, the amount is
expected to be approximately $22.4 trillion including federal, state and local. Debt per citizen will be
over $63.000 and debt per taxpayer is about $163.000. The largest budget is medical care which is
about $1.5 trillion and mostly introduced by Obama s administration and government policies.
The total US government debt was equally divided between federal and local debt at the beginning of
20th century and it was less than 20% of GDP. While after the First World War, the federal debt surged
to 32% of GDP. Then, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Dissolution of the Soviet Union signaled the end of the Cold War and thus the US government
debt fell due to the decrease military budget as well as increased taxes in 1990s. During last 2 decades,
the US national debt started increasing again which could attributed to the increasing spending on the
war against global terror, bail out the banks and the budget of the plan to recover the economy after
the crisis in 2008. And finally the US national debt reached 120.6% of GDP in 2014 and still kept
increasing till today.
The surge in national debt during Bush and Obama administrations
It is true that there was a surge in US national debt in past decade, the total federal debt was reaching
105% of GDP in 2012 which is the historically highest level since the Second World War. Although
the crest existed in the president term of Obama, however, the rise of debt started long before Obama
took office in the While House.
In fact, after the national debt decline at the end of 20th century, it resumed increasing with Bush s
first budget in fiscal 2002. And later on in 2007, the rise accelerated as the economy slid into the worst
recession since the Great Depression. From figure 1 we could clearly see that Figure 1
Obama did a much better job of limiting the deficit. On the other hand, Bush made it went from about

Ohana Language Conventions
Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen and thank you for this opportunity to share with you today. I am
honoured to discuss with you the effectiveness, in regards to technology and language conventions, of
the short film Ohana. With the intention of creating a film that brought to light serious issues whilst
upholding a prodigious standard as a production, this film was successful as such through the plentiful
access to various technologies as well as the implementation of language conventions and codes. To
begin with, we will be viewing Ohana for the purpose of its reference later on. Media: Ohana In the
viewing of any production, the director s input is palpable as unique and is often attributed to the
director s auteur style. The Auteur Theory in which this notion derives from is attributed to François
Truffaut as he wrote about it an essay entitled A Certain Tendency in French Cinema. In this essay,
Truffaut claimed that directors are able to express their personal ideas in the greatest medium of
contemporary society: film. He is often quoted as saying There are no good and bad movies, only
good and bad directors (Australian Catholic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to inexperience and naivety in regards to camera movement, the intended results were unable to
be achieved and thus not included in the final production. Camera movement, as a convention, was not
able to be utilised in an effortless manner with attempts appearing as jerky and without fluid motion.
Therefore, as these shots were distracting and ineffective, they were not included in the final version
of Ohana. This disclusion had no detrimental effect on the production however did limit some of the
opportunities for camera movement and perhaps did not allow for a complex range of shots. This, in
turn, had somewhat of an impact on the

Brotherhood And Morality In SEAL Team Six By Howard Wasdin
In chapters ten and eleven of SEAL Team Six, the primary author, Howard Wasdin utilizes the themes
of morality and brotherhood while depicting the nail biting Operation Gothic Serpent. The purpose of
this operation was to ultimately capture Aidid, or his lieutenants. Military fraternity is crucial to
performing any task. Wasdin s purpose was to stress the importance of the combination of brotherhood
and morality. Wasdin draws the reader into the story by the use of the themes of brotherhood and
morality. Brotherhood has a few different definitions that can both be applied to those involved in
missions. The most common definition of brotherhood is a relationship between brothers. SEALs must
form a relationship with their partners. In this case, Wasdin and Casanova were ... Show more content

SEALs are not allowed to choose their partners, they are just assigned to one another and expected to

how to work as one unit. I had to communicate with Casanova, my partner, and the two of us had to
communicate with the other sniper pair...Then we all had to communicate with our forward operating
base (178). They all had to answer to someone. Brotherhood is also defined as an association, society,
or community of people linked by a common interest, religion, or trade. My teammates and I shared a
similar mindset. We had learned how to control feelings of frustration (224). The military is composed
of many different ranking officers, but each person is vital in succeeding in completing missions. Sure
the SEALs are considered the stars, but what are SEALs without helicopter pilots, CIA agents,
interpreters, and even Defense Language Institute instructors? Everyone has a different job, however,

Time is the element in which we exist. We are either borne along with it or drowned in it. Joyce Carol

struggle to survive each and everyday so, does everyone else in their time zone. So the movie begins

The Theme of Deception in Hamlet by William Shakespeare Essay
The Theme of Deception in Hamlet by William Shakespeare One must always be weary of the truth
because it is quite often manipulated to serve the needs of any person who requires that the truth be on
their side. Quite often, the only way to discern the truth from the fiction is by way of a deceptive act,
because an act of deception always exposes both its self and the truth to be two quite different things.
Nowhere is this more true than in William Shakespeare s, Hamlet. One of the major themes in the play
is in fact, deception. This central theme is expressed throughout the play in three major forms: the fear
of being deceived, the act of deception, and the ultimate result of the deceptive act. The first facet of
the deceptive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To learn the truth of Hamlet s actions, Claudius entreats upon Rosencrantz and Guildenstern (two of
Hamlet s oldest friends) to investigate the situation: Some little time; so by your companies To draw
him on to pleasures, and to gather So much as from occasions you may glean, Whether aught to us
unknown afflicts him thus That, opened, lies within our remedy. (II:2, ll 14 18) Claudius, at this early
point in the play, is slightly nervous of Hamlet s state of mind. Although Hamlet has not yet done or
said anything that distinctly proves that he knows of Claudius wrongdoing, Claudius is still
suspicious. Ironically, he is worried about being deceived by Hamlet, so he sends two of his friends to
spy him to learn what is bothering him. Laertes expresses a further example of the fear of deceit in his
conversation to Ophelia regarding Hamlet: His greatness weigh d, his will is not his own; For he
himself is subject to his birth. He may not, as unvalued persons do, Carve for himself, for on his
choice depends The safety and health of his whole state, (I:3, ll 17 21) Laertes fears that Hamlet is not
sincere in his love for Ophelia. He tells her that since he is of royal blood, he is not free to choose his
own wife. The court and other royals must decide who is the best choice to be queen, for the safety of
Denmark. Hamlet knows this to be true, and therefore, any sign of love that he gives her must be false.

Summary On Allegory In Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown
We are born into this good versus evil war and it s almost impossible to ever come out a winner in it.
This war dates all the way back to the beginning of time to Adam and Eve. They had one restriction
and still the temptation that overcomes us all caused their fall. Nathaniel Hawthorne explains this
theory in his Young Goodman Brown story, where evil overcomes and defeats the good. Hawthorne
does this by using these allegorical figures Young goodman Brown, Faith, and the old unnamed man.
These allegories are put in this story to represent this theory, the innocent thrown into the good versus
evil war.
The Puritans in this 1600 s era painted men and women as a perfect imaged, well mannered, purified,
and religious people. Goodman Brown ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As our faith is always trying keep us safe, it also is always within us if we believe. This is
demonstrated here as good tries to stay in this everlasting battle goodman Brown states With Heaven
above, and Faith below, I will yet stand firm against the devil! (350). Just as easy as it is to keep our
faith it is that easy to lose it being as goodman Brown completely loses both his faith and, Faith, when
curiosity and temptation takeover and evil takes reign in this ongoing battle.
Finally, the infamous unnamed old man whose allegory represents the evil in this story Hawthorne
makes him that of the devil. The narrator introduces the old man with this staff that resembles the one
of the Adam and Eve story ... bore the likeness of a great black snake, so curiously wrought, that it
might almost be seen to twist and wriggle itself, like a living serpent (347). The devil tempts and
deceives goodman Brown throughout the story, it s safe to say that the evil here has great powers on
overcoming the innocent which he does. When goodman Brown finally gets a peek at all the people he
loves at this witchcraft meeting that the devil is leading that s when it s over. All good is gone from
goodman Brown thanks to the conniving devil and evil wins. The meaning behind this devil is that

Government Intervention John Micklethwait
Market failures exist when the private enterprise cannot efficiently produce goods and services arising
from externalities, limitation of market, transaction costs and asymmetrical information. Just as the
private sector in the free economy has produced market failures, government intervention is necessary
to address these failures because there is no invisible hand that could instinctively fix the situation.
Mindful of Milton Friedman s disapproval for costly government intervention and John Micklethwait
s qualified favor for such public action, my principles of government or nonprofit intervention are
built upon the essence that the government must protect the democratic values of liberty, equality,
equity and public welfare of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Inherently, self interest motivates market producers to pursue their economic goal of profit
maximization even at the expense of their competitors, an illustration of prisoner s dilemma.
Businesses have used production inputs that permanently damaged common natural resources such as
petroleum reserves, earth s atmosphere and biodiversity. Other effects include global warming and
depleted resources for future generations. Privatization of the common pool goods does not guarantee
that the market can avert the phenomenon. The government will have to inevitably assign specific
property rights over renewable natural resources. Alternatively, the state can also adopt policies that
encourage private enterprise or individuals to develop or use green energies as alternative to the
traditional energy sources in the case of the Environmental Protection Agency. Lastly, the government
can complement with nonprofits in implementing programs that address market failures. Nonprofits
are not bounded by profit distribution thereby facilitating them to adopt missions to sustain social
value and continuously pursue opportunities to innovate, learn and adapt. As an example, World
Wildlife Fund has a mission of environmental conservation and implements activities to protect the

The Theme And Themes Of Skellig By Hans David Almond
I read a book called Skellig over the summer vacation. Skellig is written by David Almond, which
won the Hans Christian Andersen Awards in 2010. Hans Christian Andersen Awards is the highest
international recognition given to an author and an illustrator of children s books. David Almond grew
up in a Catholic family in Felling on Tyne with four sisters and one brother. He loved writing since he
was a child and dreamed of publishing his own book. In his interview, he revealed that his baby sister
died when he was only 7 years old. His father also passed away when he and his sisters and brothers
were all young. His mother was always serious with arthritis. He said that this was his childhood, and
it provided everything he needs as a writer, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the reviews on Amazon, I found out that people who only gave 1 star tend to say the story was
so boring. They felt confusion when reading Skellig because the story was moving on slowly. The
really interesting part did not start until about 40% of the way in. Also, the story has too many themes
and ideas mixed together, such as the ill baby, the neighbor girl that is home schooled, and the human
like creature in the garage. By having too many themes and ideas, it makes too many mysterious parts,
so that it is hard to understand what is going on. Plus, there are not so many action, so for people that
likes to read a action books, might dislike Skellig. On the other hand, the people who gave 5 stars on
the Amazon reviews said that there are a lot of mysterious parts in the story, and that allows your
imagination to expand and makes you want to guess what is going to happen next. They say that the
novel is great for adults too, even it is a children s book. Therefore, it will be good for reading aloud
with your family. The chapters are short, so it is easy for children and intermediate readers too. I found
it easy to read Skellig, rather than reading novels with really long Chapters. The story has characters
with unusual characteristics for children s books, so you can enjoy a different taste. One review said
that if you have some big or small questions about life, this book might help you find the answer. As a
result, I enjoyed reading this novel, and I will recommend you to read

Kosovo Conflict
The land of Kosovo has been plagued with tension for hundreds of years, being claimed by several
surrounding countries. The two biggest contenders, Albanians in Kosovo and Serbia have been
fighting for the land, which culminated in a full war from 1998 1999. The war brought international
attention to the war crimes committed by both sides, and proved that the two countries had years to go
before coming to a solution. The Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) led by Kosovo Albanians, and the
Serbian militia led by President Slobodan Milošević committed heinous crimes against their enemies.
Crimes range from ethnic cleansing to rape, and destruction of whole villages. The violence created a
serious refugee problem that is still relevant today. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second story is about a famous Macedonian photographer, Aleksander, in London who is having
an affair with a married British woman, but decides to move back to Macedonia. The third story is
about Aleksander moving back and reuniting with his first love an Albanian woman named Hana. This
movie shows the personal effects of the ethnic conflicts and shows how far the conflicts reached. The
photographer s family does not approve of him seeing Hana because there is ethnic tension between
the Macedonians and Albanians. While the Albanians were taking over Kosovo, fear spread to
neighboring countries with an Albanian population especially western Macedonia, and in one scene
that fear is shown when Aleksander s brother says, Damn Albanians. They breed like rabbits, and
another family member responds, They ll take us over (Manchevski). Before the Kosovo War,
Albanians were setting themselves up to take over and make a greater Albania (Binder), so this fear
was not without merit. Also, Albanian refugees from the war were moving into neighboring countries,
which angered countries that could not support the large number of people. The feeling of outsiders
encroaching on their territory inspires hate and fear. In the movie everyone can be seen holding a gun
even the children because they are always ready to fight. The perpetuation of violence never stops,

King Leopold s Ghost By Adam Hochschild
The late 1800 s marked the peak of imperialism throughout Europe, primarily Africa. As a new
century began to evolve, many European powers aggressively decide to surmount their power in many
parts of Africa. More specifically, King Leopold s journey to conquer the Congo and exploit the
lucrative rubber/ivory market accurately describes the forced efforts of tyranny. King Leopold s Ghost
by Adam Hochschild explains the propaganda remunerated by people in favor and opposition of King
Leopold s conquest. It also features the contributions of journalists and writers in relation to Leopold
colonizing the Congo through means of propaganda, missionaries, use of other countries, and other
various other methods to end his rule and change the common perceptions of imperialism. The main
goal, however, of writers in the Congo, was to let the world know of Leopold s actions and to end his
selfish ruling. The role of journalists became most prevalent beginning in the 1880 s. In 1885, under
the pretense of philanthropy, King Leopold II Belgium claimed land along the Congo River as his
personal property. He named it the Congo Free State, and for the next twenty three years, he enslaved
the Congolese and exploited their land. It is estimated that their population decreased by 10 million
due to starvation, murder and disease. But while the king was forcefully pursuing his actions of forced
labor, the world was largely unaware of what was occurring in the Congo. It would take many years

In recent years, gifted education programs have received extensive attention from a multitude of
groups, in many cases arousing passionate arguments about their effectiveness, or even their
fundamentality. Angry parents complain about budget cuts from these programs, while others are
furious that their child was not accepted into a gifted program. Teachers are also divided on this issue.
Some teachers believe gifted programs are very important for engaging high achieving students, while
others believe they hold back students who are not accepted. Still others have too little knowledge of
the issue to create an informed opinion, even though it directly relates to their work. Many do not

A study by Saiying Steenbergen Hu and Paula Olszewski Kubilius notes that gifted programs often
encourage gifted students to remain in public schools rather than transferring to private ones, thus
enriching the intellectual diversity of public schools (Steenbergen Hu et al 33). If they remain in
public schools, gifted students can contribute valuable ideas to class discussions, and they can share
their expertise with classmates, creating a better learning environment for all students. In addition, a
study by Jessica Hockett found that students in gifted programs could act as guinea pigs for
experimental educational policies (Hockett 26 27). Because of their advanced abilities, these students
could easily adapt to make up for loss of instructional time if these programs proved ineffective.
However, if they proved effective, they could improve curricula for general and gifted education alike.
Hockett recognized differences in the characteristics of these programs, but argued that they share
certain core concepts, such as authenticity, applicability, and flexibility, which make them fairly

Affirmative Action Curbed in California Essay

movement to end three decades of racial and gender preferences as an antidote to discrimination,
today signed an executive order abolishing a wide range of affirmative action programs affecting
hiring and contracting in state agencies.
Wilson, who is seeking the Republican presidential nomination, eliminated or sharply cut back scores

those laws. He also abolished 118 boards and commissions created to advise state agencies on ethnic
and gender diversity issues.

By itself, it doesn t complete the change we must make. Special preferences remain embedded in state
and federal law. I vow to fight for changes in those laws, quot; Wilson said.
Sean Walsh, the governor s press secretary, said Wilson is the first governor to roll back affirmative
action programs. He said the order would affect all of the state s approximately 150,000 full time job
positions. According to the California State Employees Association, about 60 percent of the state
government work force is white, 16 percent Hispanic, 12 percent black, 6 percent are Asian and the
remaining 6 percent from other groups.
Wilson s action appeared designed to capitalize on public dissatisfaction with minority preference
programs and on a backlash against what is characterized as quot;reverse discrimination, quot; while
at the same time setting him apart from the eight other contenders for the GOP presidential
nomination, none of whom are sitting governors. It comes a day after senior White House officials
said President Clinton is still weeks or even months away from completing a review he has ordered of
federal affirmative action programs.
Wilson already had announced his support of a proposed 1996 state ballot initiative that would go
further than today s order by abolishing affirmative action in all state hiring, contracting and
university admissions practices. At least six other states

Nietzsche s Three Metamorphoses
In Thus Spoke Zarathustra, the first of the three metamorphoses which Nietzsche introduces is the
camel. The camel is a collector of burdens. The camel asks, What is heaviest ... that I may take it upon
me and rejoice in my strength (54). And although I resent the comparison, the camel was me. All my
(teenage) life I bore the weight of the expectations of others with enthusiasm, letting everyone besides
me decide the course of my life, and, as a result, I was becoming bitter and full of despair. Something
had to change. On one hand, my reason for transferring is simple: the major I d like to switch to isn t
offered at my current school. But it s deeper than that. I m applying to Rutgers because it s the first
major step I can take towards taking control of my own life. I didn t quite grow up like everyone else.
I was homeschooled, from the beginning all the way until graduation. A former elementary school
teacher, my mother didn t trust the public schools. I always performed well, although I didn t have
many people to compare myself to, and, graduation was at 15 (I was eager to get out). I couldn t

Types And Methods Of Tests That Are Being Used During...
Biodata Test There are many forms and methods of tests that are being used during selection process.
Biodata test is a type of exam that is used in selection process which uses background experience and
behaviors to predict applicant s performance on certain jobs. The biodata test I took was designed to
predict performance on a position in sales and customer services. The test predicts dependability,
positive customer service attitudes, retention, management potential, and performance of an applicant.
Based on score an applicant receive, the test gives recommendation to hiring management whether an
applicant is good fit for the position or not. Since I took the test after our discussion during class, I
probably had better glimpse of what it would like than other people who took before the class.
However, I was not sure what to look for in terms of questions and answers. I have heard about
various testing methods and types that companies use for selection, and I imagined one more similar
to academic test that measures intelligence. Yet, this test was different and some questions looked very
inappropriate or illegal in some sense. The test begun with asking basic information about me such as
name and address. I was not sure why they need address for the selection, but I had not had much of
issue with it. However, a question asking birth day was not comfortable to answer. I am relatively
older than regular college graduates, and I would be worried if I were actually

Brown s Estate Case
In 2008, the South Carolina attorney general entered a settlement with Brown s family. He redirected a
quarter of Brown s assets to his children and grandchildren and a quarter to his ex wife, who had been
disinherited from his will. In 2013, the South Carolina Supreme Court threw out this settlement, citing
the fact that the attorney general had distorted Brown s intent when he became involved in the
administration of Brown s estate. It is certainly unheard of for an attorney general to redirect assets
that a testator had left to someone else. Usually, the redirection of funds occurs when, for example, a
minor child is disinherited from a will and the courts are attempt to avoid the need for the child to
become dependent upon the state. Others who have come forward to claim their share of Brown s

Essay on The Hours by Michael Cunningham
In his novel The Hours, Michael Cunningham creates a dazzling fabric of queer references managing

sexual orientation influences his work as can be seen by the fact that many of his novels involve gay
characters and gay experiences. In particular, The Hours features three women who each have same
sex experiences Virginia Woolf, Laura Brown, and Clarissa Vaughn.
Virginia Woolf is a married woman who had public affairs with women and who shares a chaste kiss
with her sister during her narrative. Woolf is also the author of Mrs. Dalloway, a novel that centers on
Clarissa Dalloway, a woman who feels the same way as men feel (Woolf 36) about women, yet
marries a man as society dictates.
Laura Brown is also a married woman, like both Woolf and Dalloway, but rather than having affairs
with women, she, like Clarissa Dalloway, feels bound by her role in society and is greatly unhappy
with her situation. For a brief moment, she breaks away from her heteronormative life and seems to
truly desire to break free from the gender roles forced upon her while sharing a kiss with her neighbor
s wife, Kitty.
The question has been silently asked and silently answered, it seems. They are both afflicted and
blessed, full of shared secrets, striving every moment. They are both impersonating

The Madres De Plaza De Mayo s Social Movement
Despite isolation from family members and constant fear of their own lives, The Madres de Plaza de
Mayo s social movement has improved the Argentinian culture over the years. We ll take a look back
at what prompted the creation of the Madres social movement, what the goals of the Madres social
movement were about, and how the Madres movement has changed Argentina in present day society.
The real question to ask yourself is what would you be willing to do for the wellbeing and safety of
your family and loved ones?
First, let s take a look back at what prompted the creation of the Madres de Plaza de Mayo social
movement. Argentina during the years 1976 through 1983 was called the Dirty War era. During these
years Argentina was being governed by President Isabel Perón along with a deadly military junta
dictatorship. The Dirty War era can be summed up as basically the government s attack on Argentinian
individuals suspected of any political opposition. Opposition was choked off by rigorous censorship,
strict curfews, and fear of the secret police. (Encyclopedia Britanica) The secret police, or (
government ), would often kidnap, torture and kill these individuals before disposing of their bodies in
nearby oceans, in rural areas, or in mass unmarked graves. It is estimated between ten thousand and
thirty thousand Argentinian individuals lost their lives during the Dirty War era. Although to this day,
the government has only acknowledged some involvement with approximately nine

My Guitar Research Paper
Many new guitarists aren t sure of what kind of guitar they should buy when they decide to purchase
one. Myself, I spent months and thousands trying to find the right guitar. Five guitars later, I found the
right one and decided that nobody else should have to go through that ordeal. Here is a list of things to
look at when you are trying to decide which guitar is right for you.Tone This is probably the single
most important thing to look at in a guitar. Whether you are playing electric or acoustic, country, rock,
blues, or jazz, you need to have a tone that fits your musical genre. You wouldn t want to play a guitar
that is perfect for country music in a heavy metal band. Which guitars have the right tone for you?
Blues If you are playing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Well get ready to drown in a sea of confusing options like body styles, pickup choices, hardware
options, manufacturer differences and modeling capabilities just to name a few. If you walk into a
decent size music store these days you will be confronted with more options than what the latest
luxury SUV offers. Or you might be thinking about browsing an online music store. Now you have
even more choices than your local store.Fortunately, it is possible to group these choices together in a
list of options that you can bring to your music store salesperson. So, let s get started... STEP ONE:
IDENTIFY YOUR MUSICAL TASTE Do you want to rock? Are you into blues, jazz or country?
Answer this question and you ll greatly narrow down your choices. Certain types of guitars are
typically used for certain styles of music. (In the interest of maintaining a fair and objective position
on brand names and products I will refrain from mentioning specific brand names.) If it s modern or
classic rock you re into, you re going to want to find a solid body guitar. For a thick, rich tone you will
want to select a guitar with humbucking pickups. For a brighter thinner tone choose a guitar with
single coil pickups. If you re interested in those crazy 80 s guitar tricks you might want to find a guitar
with a floating tremelo If not, go ahead and choose a standard bridge or a fixed tailpiece. If you prefer
a little country twang, you re probably going

A Social Science Research Project
Meggie! my mother hollered roughly, would you just take a few minutes to clean out your closet? I
could spy your tank tops from under that pile of smelly socks. Not to mention the mountain of dirty
laundry on that unmade bed is gross. I sighed and leaned against the sofa. But here comes my father
smirking beside me, Can you give me a kiss before you head off to school? Immediately, I grabbed my
keys and walked out of the house with my unzipped backpack, not bothering to even look at him.
Sometimes, I just wish my morning routine could have a slight change. To simply put, I really don t
want to walk out the house while rolling my eyes hard, at least not that often. As part of a social
science research project developed at UBC, I am now stranded on a small remote island. Surprisingly,
my cabin, particularly the closet is unnaturally clean. No dirty laundry in sight and the bed is
miraculously made every day. Although I have all the necessities of life, there is still something
missing. I feel lonely. My heart aches simply from my parent s absence. It is not until I have to spend
a year on this island, away from home that I finally realize how much I appreciate them more than I
already do. In order to get through the dreadful days, I m reminiscing about the two most important
people in my life.
Seeing cruises and boats sailing through the waves from my cabin windows, I can recall an early
childhood memory. I used to tell my mother, Look! Boats know how to swim just like

Natural Science Vs Religion
Natural science and religion are two areas of knowledge that perceive knowledge using ways of
knowing differently to pursue its knowledge, an example of that would be Charles Darwin and his
theory of natural selection and evolution. In natural science, the theory of natural selection is derived
from studying the common features in the bone structure of vertebrate limbs despite its varied use.
Therefore, using deductive reasoning, they established the evolution theory which states that humans
evolved from apes due to the fact that human and apes have similar features and that human has
evolved due to adaptation and survival of genes. However, religion, using not only intuition and
emotions but also reason disagrees with the claim of evolution.

The Yellow Birds By Kevin Powers
Athletes train for countless hours in hopes to help their teams win games, but sometimes they can t
always come out on top. Students put in long hours studying for tests attempting to earn a good grade.
There are times where that effort is rewarded with a poor grade. Gifts are bought with the idea that
whoever is receiving the present is going to love it, but the buyer realizes that they messed up because
the gift is absolutely hated. These are examples of instances where people were trying to do good
things but ultimately failed. In the novel, The Yellow Birds by Kevin Powers you see characters that
have the intent to do good, but come up short and fail. Everybody has instances throughout their lives
where they will try extremely hard, but fail in the end. A lot of these instances may even be just the
smallest things, but when they happen it is never a good feeling. You will get feelings of
disappointment, and anger, but the problems that occur in Kevin Power s book are much more than
that. The book The Yellow Birds is a fictional story, but the thing that makes it so good is that the
author was in the war himself. Even though this great story is made up, Kevin Powers definitely had
an advantage on explaining how powerful the war really was on people. What was written in the book
could be very similar to things he had experienced himself while he served our country. Just by
reading his fight scenes he had written about, you can tell he knew what he was talking about

Rural Urban Migration Is An Inevitable Component Of The...
The phenomenon of rapid urbanization in less developed countries and in the absence of extensive
industrialization, led to the emergence of illegal settlements and shanty towns, discuss the relationship
between urbanization, poverty and development; and use a case study to illustrate the effects of rapid
urbanization in LDC s.
Rural urban migration occurs at varying rates in every country. This paper focuses on the process of
rural urban migration and its influence on urbanization in developing countries. It presents arguments
in support of the proposal that rural urban migration is an inevitable component of the development
process, and does not necessarily have to result in opposing impacts with the right mix of policies, this
process can occur at a socially acceptable level. However, the misrepresentation of opportunities in
favor of cities in most developing countries, the costs associated with rural urban migration often
outweigh the benefits, which lead to excessive urbanization with special emphasis on the causes and
consequences of rural urban migration, and their relationship with urbanization and economic growth.
Keeping into consideration the fact that rural urban migration is an integral part of the development
process. Also the paper will give a brief historical background about the rapid urbanization change in
developing countries over time and will be applying a case study of a country to illustrate this change.
Many developing countries have a recent

Analysis Of George Orwell s Article Politics And The...
Orwell in his article, Politics and the English Language shares with us his writing expertise about
using metaphors that are overused and dying. Orwell warns us that when using these worn out
metaphors that we do not evoke a visual image and in effect revert (one s writing) to being an ordinary
word and can generally be used without loss of vividness. Orwell shares powerful statements that
convince his readers that by using these worn out and dead metaphors, we are using them because
they save people the trouble of inventing phrases for themselves. Challenging writers to think for
themselves and be clear about the message that you want to send. Orwell lays out a list of metaphors
that are example of those that are over used and worn

Essay about The Psychiatric Perspective of Irritable Bowel...
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a functional GI disorder (FGID) characterized by abdominal pain in
association with altered bowel habits in the absence of any identifiable structural or biochemical
abnormalities. It is a very common disorder that can have a profound negative impact on a patient s
quality of life and constitutes a considerable social and economic burden on society. Extensive
research over the last few decades has led to a better understanding of this complex syndrome and
improvements in treatment. After a brief review of the clinical manifestations and diagnosis of IBS,
the current understanding of the complex physiological mechanisms contributing to the syndrome will
be addressed. The remainder of this paper will focus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Clinical judgment is therefore extremely important in the diagnosis of IBS. Sir William Osler in 1892
first described a condition, which he termed mucous colitis, having features that we now describe as
IBS, and occurring mostly in women with psychological disturbances. Elucidation of the
pathophysiology underlying IBS is a still a work in progress, but much has been discovered about the
etiology since Osler s first description. IBS is best understood as a group of symptoms resulting from
the interaction between multiple physiologic determinants and psychosocial factors. Physiological
mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis include altered gastrointestinal (GI) motility, visceral
hyperalgesia, abnormalities in brain gut interaction, and aberrant central processing of visceral pain.
Recent research suggests that previous GI infection, immunological activation, and colonic microbiota
may also be important in the pathogenesis of IBS. The impact of stress on these physiological factors
is thought to be particularly important in the pathophysiology of IBS, and will be discussed in more
detail later on. The realization that the majority of patients seeking medical care for IBS met criteria
for a comorbid psychiatric disorder led to the association of IBS with psychopathology and, coupled
with the lack of identifiable structural

How Does Gmo Affect Society
The Impact of Genetically Modified Food on Society Genetically modified foods, also known as
GMOs, are a debated issue in today s society. People argue that all this new technology is causing
more harm than it is good. GMOs are not anything new: humans have been modifying crops long
before the introduction of genetics and modern biotechnology. What are genetically modified foods?
About 8000 years ago, humans began practicing agriculture in order to have a sustainable food source.
To ensure that their crops didn t perish because of the climate, pests, or other circumstances, they
began to select which plants were the best to grow and harvest; all this was in order to have a better
food supply, less loss of crops, or better nutritional content. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

However, organizations such as the National Research Council, the American Association for the
Advancement of Science, and the American Medical Association have issued studies or statements
regarding the safety of GMOs indicating that there is no evidence that GMOs present unique safety
risks compared to conventionally bred products (Acosta, 2014). In fact, these studies have shown that
the benefits of supporting the production of GM foods far outweigh the risks; hence, there should be
no immediate reason to ban or restrict the research and improvement of such food products.
Nevertheless, it would be beneficial to monitor and regulate the advancement of GMOs, and
occasionally update the public on the progress that has been made and how this will affect their food
products. Presently, the United States does not have any federal legislation that is specific to
genetically modified organisms (GMOs) (Acosta, 2014). Instead, GMOs are regulated by way of
legislations pertaining to the different areas that GMOs might encompass. This is because the United
States approach to regulating GMOs is [focused] on the nature of the products, rather than the process
in which they were produced (Acosta,

Federation City
The world has been evolving as quickly as the population has grown. As the years progressed, the
habitual lifestyle has transformed from spread out house and land living to city and suburban
occupation. Along with the living style, cities have progressed from just roads and buildings to
multifunctional spaces with copious possibilities. Federation Square in the heart of the city is an
example of how a space in the city vastly contributes to the visual culture of Melbourne. Times Square
in New York also displays how what was previously an intersection of roads, has been transformed
into a visual landmark. Melbourne city had always lacked a functional public space ever since its
birth.

The sheer volume of activity its hosts is a vital factor to its success with the city of Melbourne now
able to hold copious events, from live broadcasting of international events to public concerts and
displays such as the olympics and Kevin Rudd sorry speech to the stolen generation. Federation
Square is also a prime location to watch the New Years celebrations where the city is flooded with
people. With a new capacity of 10000 people large events such as the Commonwealth Games
connected over 750000 people over ten days. The square for the first time creates a sensible and large
public space which was needed for the modern day Melbourne city. Federation square has greatly
contributed to the visual culture of the city with an angular triangle laced structure creating an icon in
the heart of the city. The creation of this space has also vastly lead to an increase in cultural events for
example when it sits centre for the largely popular White Night Festival which attracts hundreds of
thousands of people into the city for an all night visual festival. Originating in Russia, White night is a
State Government initiative that lights up the city for an entire night and Federation Square plays a
vital role in not only contributing to the visual experience of the event but help people circulate during
the event. The design of the square works to combine a multiple of spaces to create an organisation that
is interactive and adaptive which has been proven that was need and well received. Federation Square
is an example of how the space between buildings of function and the roads we use as transportation

Prominent Women Of Islam. Women Have A Great Influence
Prominent Women of Islam Women have a great influence on the religion of Islam and how it is seen
both nowadays and in the past. We are lucky to have prominent women such as Ayesha bint Abu Bakr,
Khadijah bint Khuwaylid, Umm Salamah bint Abu Umayyah, Linda Sarsour, and Yasmin Mogahed.
These women have strived for excellence and are some of the most outgoing people of our ummah.
Ayesha bint Abu Bakr is one of the most prominent women of Islam. Amr ibn Aas thought he was the
most beloved person to the prophet (saw) so he asked the prophet and the prophet said the most

accepted Islam and used all her worldly goods to help spread the message of Islam. And it is from her
that Allah blessed the prophet (saw) with children. Khadijah helped contribute to the ummah by
showing us that we should always stand strong for what we believe and always support those who

The Core Essence Of Servant Leadership From A Biblical...
As a Doctoral candidate and a Singles Adult Ministry leader, I believe it is vitally important to
understand the tasks and challenges, in becoming an effective leader in ministry and our society today.
Therefore, this research paper will attempt to articulate the core essence of Servant Leadership from a
Biblical perspective, which might be able to provide practical, theological, and hermeneutical insights
in order to develop leadership competency and a healthy prosperous ministry, as oppose to the current
secular leadership myths and fascination in our church, culture and society. Admittedly, over the years
I have always admired and strived to adopt a servant leader attitude in all my endeavors. Equally, the

Similarly, author Wade Berry, in an article with reference to Paul s practice of leadership, describes it
as:
Leadership is understood here not as dealing with how a particular leader understands and develops
the organizational structure of her or his group, but as how a leader interacts with the members of the
group in order to get individuals within the group as a whole to adopt certain values, goals, practices,
or behaviors. This is a beautiful reflection of leadership, which provides us with a basic foundational
framework. On that basis, when I reflect on the term Servant Leader , from a hermeneutical
perspective, it would appear to be a paradox, from my own conceptual understanding of the language.
For instance, when we think of a servant, we often envision someone serving others. Likewise, we
perceive a leader as the one who is influential, powerful and has authority. Paradoxically, the two
words together seem to contradict each other, but also serve as a prophetic concept to emphasize the
core essence of Jesus and Paul s leadership model. In reality, the term servant leader is a model that
reflects trust, communication, integrity, sacrifice, humiliation, selflessness and the ethical use of
power. The servant leadership model by its own nature has traits as well as, learned skills, which

Don Quixote De La Mancha
The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote de la Mancha Essay Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra s The
Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote de la Mancha is a story that includes many tales of a man obsessed
with chivalry, Don Quixote, and his squire, Sancho Panza. These tales contain various important
themes, one including male and female relations. Don Quixote and Sancho Panza encountered male
and female relations of all types promiscuous, ideal, young, and old and from all of these types of
relations that the two men encountered, the reader learned a lot about male and female relations,
which developed this theme into a significant one throughout the book. One type of male and female

For example, in one part of the story a man, Grisistomo, died for a woman, Marcela, because of her
rejection after he declared to love her: (Grisistomo) followed her example by becoming shepherds,
each hoping that in this manner he might be able to win her... the funeral ceremony is to be a most
unusual one, and people from far and wide are coming to witness it. (Cervantes 139). Unlike an ideal
relationship as stated previously, Cervantes portrayed young lovers as turbulent and immature.
Grisistomo just wanted to be with Marcela, but Marcela was too cruel to even realize that Grisistomo
loved her. Cervantes emphasized this cruelty through somber diction with words such as funeral, and
hoping, because even though Grisistomo loved Marcela, she was far too cruel to realize that he loved
her. One other situation of young love in the story was with Dona Rodriguez and the squire. Dona
Rodriguez married the squire, but one day he died: she had unjustly dismissed the squire and it was
grief over this that brought on his death. (Cervantes 619). Dona Rodriguez was immature and young,
so she dismissed the squire, which brought upon grief. Later, Rodriguez had to raise an infant child
alone. Cervantes specifically used the word grief, in this statement to emphasize that grief that
Rodriguez would later feel. The use of this word was an example of disappointing diction. Dona
Rodriguez s relationship with the squire showed that young lovers tend to have turbulent affairs,
which later lead to tragic conclusions, such as the death of the squire or the death of Grisistomo with
Marcela. Cervantes taught the reader that young lovers are obviously inexperienced and their
inexperience tends to lead to tragedy in their

The Dissolution of the Soviet Union signaled the end of the Cold War and thus the US government debt fell due to the decrease military budget as well as increased taxes in 1990s. During last 2 decades, the US national debt started increasing again which could attributed to the increasing spending on the war against global terror, bail out the banks and the budget of the plan to recover the economy after the crisis in 2008. And finally the US national debt reached 120.6% of GDP in 2014 and still kept increasing till today. The surge in national debt during Bush and Obama administrations It is true that there was a surge in US national debt in past decade, the total federal debt was reaching 105% of GDP in 2012 which is the historically highest level since the Second World War. Although the crest existed in the president term of Obama, however, the rise of debt started long before Obama took office in the While House. In fact, after the national debt decline at the end of 20th century, it resumed increasing with Bush s first budget in fiscal 2002. And later on in 2007, the rise accelerated as the economy slid into the worst recession since the Great Depression. • 3. Ohana Language Conventions Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen and thank you for this opportunity to share with you today. I am honoured to discuss with you the effectiveness, in regards to technology and language conventions, of the short film Ohana. With the intention of creating a film that brought to light serious issues whilst upholding a prodigious standard as a production, this film was successful as such through the plentiful access to various technologies as well as the implementation of language conventions and codes. To begin with, we will be viewing Ohana for the purpose of its reference later on. Media: Ohana In the viewing of any production, the director s input is palpable as unique and is often attributed to the director s auteur style. The Auteur Theory in which this notion derives from is attributed to François Truffaut as he wrote about it an essay entitled A Certain Tendency in French Cinema. In this essay, Truffaut claimed that directors are able to express their personal ideas in the greatest medium of contemporary society: film. He is often quoted as saying There are no good and bad movies, only good and bad directors (Australian Catholic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Camera movement, as a convention, was not able to be utilised in an effortless manner with attempts appearing as jerky and without fluid motion. Therefore, as these shots were distracting and ineffective, they were not included in the final version of Ohana. This disclusion had no detrimental effect on the production however did limit some of the opportunities for camera movement and perhaps did not allow for a complex range of shots. Brotherhood And Morality In SEAL Team Six By Howard Wasdin In chapters ten and eleven of SEAL Team Six, the primary author, Howard Wasdin utilizes the themes of morality and brotherhood while depicting the nail biting Operation Gothic Serpent. The purpose of this operation was to ultimately capture Aidid, or his lieutenants. Military fraternity is crucial to performing any task. Wasdin s purpose was to stress the importance of the combination of brotherhood and morality. Wasdin draws the reader into the story by the use of the themes of brotherhood and morality. • 6. The Theme of Deception in Hamlet by William Shakespeare Essay The Theme of Deception in Hamlet by William Shakespeare One must always be weary of the truth because it is quite often manipulated to serve the needs of any person who requires that the truth be on their side. Quite often, the only way to discern the truth from the fiction is by way of a deceptive act, because an act of deception always exposes both its self and the truth to be two quite different things. Nowhere is this more true than in William Shakespeare s, Hamlet. One of the major themes in the play is in fact, deception. This central theme is expressed throughout the play in three major forms: the fear of being deceived, the act of deception, and the ultimate result of the deceptive act. The first facet of the deceptive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (II:2, ll 14 18) Claudius, at this early point in the play, is slightly nervous of Hamlet s state of mind. Although Hamlet has not yet done or said anything that distinctly proves that he knows of Claudius wrongdoing, Claudius is still suspicious. Ironically, he is worried about being deceived by Hamlet, so he sends two of his friends to spy him to learn what is bothering him. Laertes expresses a further example of the fear of deceit in his conversation to Ophelia regarding Hamlet: His greatness weigh d, his will is not his own; For he himself is subject to his birth. He may not, as unvalued persons do, Carve for himself, for on his choice depends The safety and health of his whole state, (I:3, ll 17 21) Laertes fears that Hamlet is not sincere in his love for Ophelia. He tells her that since he is of royal blood, he is not free to choose his own wife. The court and other royals must decide who is the best choice to be queen, for the safety of Denmark. Hamlet knows this to be true, and therefore, any sign of love that he gives her must be false. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Summary On Allegory In Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown We are born into this good versus evil war and it s almost impossible to ever come out a winner in it. This war dates all the way back to the beginning of time to Adam and Eve. They had one restriction and still the temptation that overcomes us all caused their fall. Nathaniel Hawthorne explains this theory in his Young Goodman Brown story, where evil overcomes and defeats the good. Hawthorne does this by using these allegorical figures Young goodman Brown, Faith, and the old unnamed man. These allegories are put in this story to represent this theory, the innocent thrown into the good versus evil war. Just as easy as it is to keep our faith it is that easy to lose it being as goodman Brown completely loses both his faith and, Faith, when curiosity and temptation takeover and evil takes reign in this ongoing battle. Finally, the infamous unnamed old man whose allegory represents the evil in this story Hawthorne makes him that of the devil. The narrator introduces the old man with this staff that resembles the one of the Adam and Eve story ... bore the likeness of a great black snake, so curiously wrought, that it might almost be seen to twist and wriggle itself, like a living serpent (347). The devil tempts and deceives goodman Brown throughout the story, it s safe to say that the evil here has great powers on overcoming the innocent which he does. Government Intervention John Micklethwait Market failures exist when the private enterprise cannot efficiently produce goods and services arising from externalities, limitation of market, transaction costs and asymmetrical information. Just as the private sector in the free economy has produced market failures, government intervention is necessary to address these failures because there is no invisible hand that could instinctively fix the situation. Inherently, self interest motivates market producers to pursue their economic goal of profit maximization even at the expense of their competitors, an illustration of prisoner s dilemma. Businesses have used production inputs that permanently damaged common natural resources such as petroleum reserves, earth s atmosphere and biodiversity. Other effects include global warming and depleted resources for future generations. Privatization of the common pool goods does not guarantee that the market can avert the phenomenon. The government will have to inevitably assign specific property rights over renewable natural resources. Alternatively, the state can also adopt policies that encourage private enterprise or individuals to develop or use green energies as alternative to the traditional energy sources in the case of the Environmental Protection Agency. Lastly, the government can complement with nonprofits in implementing programs that address market failures. Skellig is written by David Almond, which won the Hans Christian Andersen Awards in 2010. Hans Christian Andersen Awards is the highest international recognition given to an author and an illustrator of children s books. David Almond grew up in a Catholic family in Felling on Tyne with four sisters and one brother. He loved writing since he was a child and dreamed of publishing his own book. In his interview, he revealed that his baby sister died when he was only 7 years old. His father also passed away when he and his sisters and brothers were all young. By having too many themes and ideas, it makes too many mysterious parts, so that it is hard to understand what is going on. Plus, there are not so many action, so for people that likes to read a action books, might dislike Skellig. On the other hand, the people who gave 5 stars on the Amazon reviews said that there are a lot of mysterious parts in the story, and that allows your imagination to expand and makes you want to guess what is going to happen next. They say that the novel is great for adults too, even it is a children s book. Therefore, it will be good for reading aloud with your family. The chapters are short, so it is easy for children and intermediate readers too. I found it easy to read Skellig, rather than reading novels with really long Chapters. The story has characters with unusual characteristics for children s books, so you can enjoy a different taste. One review said that if you have some big or small questions about life, this book might help you find the answer. As a result, I enjoyed reading this novel, and I will recommend you to read ... The two biggest contenders, Albanians in Kosovo and Serbia have been fighting for the land, which culminated in a full war from 1998 1999. The war brought international attention to the war crimes committed by both sides, and proved that the two countries had years to go before coming to a solution. The Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) led by Kosovo Albanians, and the Serbian militia led by President Slobodan MiloÅ¡ević committed heinous crimes against their enemies. • 12. King Leopold s Ghost By Adam Hochschild The late 1800 s marked the peak of imperialism throughout Europe, primarily Africa. As a new century began to evolve, many European powers aggressively decide to surmount their power in many parts of Africa. More specifically, King Leopold s journey to conquer the Congo and exploit the lucrative rubber/ivory market accurately describes the forced efforts of tyranny. King Leopold s Ghost by Adam Hochschild explains the propaganda remunerated by people in favor and opposition of King Leopold s conquest. It also features the contributions of journalists and writers in relation to Leopold colonizing the Congo through means of propaganda, missionaries, use of other countries, and other various other methods to end his rule and change the common perceptions of imperialism. The main goal, however, of writers in the Congo, was to let the world know of Leopold s actions and to end his selfish ruling. The role of journalists became most prevalent beginning in the 1880 s. In 1885, under the pretense of philanthropy, King Leopold II Belgium claimed land along the Congo River as his personal property. He named it the Congo Free State, and for the next twenty three years, he enslaved the Congolese and exploited their land. It is estimated that their population decreased by 10 million due to starvation, murder and disease. Some teachers believe gifted programs are very important for engaging high achieving students, while others believe they hold back students who are not accepted. A study by Saiying Steenbergen Hu and Paula Olszewski Kubilius notes that gifted programs often encourage gifted students to remain in public schools rather than transferring to private ones, thus enriching the intellectual diversity of public schools (Steenbergen Hu et al 33). If they remain in public schools, gifted students can contribute valuable ideas to class discussions, and they can share their expertise with classmates, creating a better learning environment for all students. In addition, a study by Jessica Hockett found that students in gifted programs could act as guinea pigs for experimental educational policies (Hockett 26 27). Because of their advanced abilities, these students could easily adapt to make up for loss of instructional time if these programs proved ineffective. However, if they proved effective, they could improve curricula for general and gifted education alike. Wilson, who is seeking the Republican presidential nomination, eliminated or sharply cut back scores of affirmative action policies or programs that are not mandated by state or federal laws or that exceed those laws. It comes a day after senior White House officials said President Clinton is still weeks or even months away from completing a review he has ordered of federal affirmative action programs. In 2013, the South Carolina Supreme Court threw out this settlement, citing the fact that the attorney general had distorted Brown s intent when he became involved in the administration of Brown s estate. In particular, The Hours features three women who each have same sex experiences Virginia Woolf, Laura Brown, and Clarissa Vaughn. IBS is best understood as a group of symptoms resulting from the interaction between multiple physiologic determinants and psychosocial factors. About 8000 years ago, humans began practicing agriculture in order to have a sustainable food source. In fact, these studies have shown that the benefits of supporting the production of GM foods far outweigh the risks; hence, there should be no immediate reason to ban or restrict the research and improvement of such food products. Nevertheless, it would be beneficial to monitor and regulate the advancement of GMOs, and occasionally update the public on the progress that has been made and how this will affect their food products. • 32. The Core Essence Of Servant Leadership From A Biblical... As a Doctoral candidate and a Singles Adult Ministry leader, I believe it is vitally important to understand the tasks and challenges, in becoming an effective leader in ministry and our society today. Therefore, this research paper will attempt to articulate the core essence of Servant Leadership from a Biblical perspective, which might be able to provide practical, theological, and hermeneutical insights in order to develop leadership competency and a healthy prosperous ministry, as oppose to the current secular leadership myths and fascination in our church, culture and society. Admittedly, over the years I have always admired and strived to adopt a servant leader attitude in all my endeavors. Equally, the paper will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similarly, author Wade Berry, in an article with reference to Paul s practice of leadership, describes it as: Leadership is understood here not as dealing with how a particular leader understands and develops the organizational structure of her or his group, but as how a leader interacts with the members of the group in order to get individuals within the group as a whole to adopt certain values, goals, practices, or behaviors. This is a beautiful reflection of leadership, which provides us with a basic foundational framework. On that basis, when I reflect on the term Servant Leader , from a hermeneutical perspective, it would appear to be a paradox, from my own conceptual understanding of the language. For instance, when we think of a servant, we often envision someone serving others. Likewise, we perceive a leader as the one who is influential, powerful and has authority. Paradoxically, the two words together seem to contradict each other, but also serve as a prophetic concept to emphasize the core essence of Jesus and Paul s leadership model. In reality, the term servant leader is a model that reflects trust, communication, integrity, sacrifice, humiliation, selflessness and the ethical use of power. The servant leadership model by its own nature has traits as well as, learned skills, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Don Quixote De La Mancha The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote de la Mancha Essay Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra s The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote de la Mancha is a story that includes many tales of a man obsessed with chivalry, Don Quixote, and his squire, Sancho Panza. These tales contain various important themes, one including male and female relations. Don Quixote and Sancho Panza encountered male and female relations of all types promiscuous, ideal, young, and old and from all of these types of relations that the two men encountered, the reader learned a lot about male and female relations, which developed this theme into a significant one throughout the book. One type of male and female relations that was seen multiple times throughout the book was promiscuous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, in one part of the story a man, Grisistomo, died for a woman, Marcela, because of her rejection after he declared to love her: (Grisistomo) followed her example by becoming shepherds, each hoping that in this manner he might be able to win her... the funeral ceremony is to be a most unusual one, and people from far and wide are coming to witness it. (Cervantes 139). Unlike an ideal relationship as stated previously, Cervantes portrayed young lovers as turbulent and immature. Grisistomo just wanted to be with Marcela, but Marcela was too cruel to even realize that Grisistomo loved her. Cervantes emphasized this cruelty through somber diction with words such as funeral, and hoping, because even though Grisistomo loved Marcela, she was far too cruel to realize that he loved her. One other situation of young love in the story was with Dona Rodriguez and the squire. Dona Rodriguez married the squire, but one day he died: she had unjustly dismissed the squire and it was grief over this that brought on his death. (Cervantes 619). Dona Rodriguez was immature and young, so she dismissed the squire, which brought upon grief. Later, Rodriguez had to raise an infant child alone. Cervantes specifically used the word grief, in this statement to emphasize that grief that Rodriguez would later feel. The use of this word was an example of disappointing diction. Dona Rodriguez s relationship with the squire showed that young lovers tend to have turbulent affairs, which later lead to tragic conclusions, such as the death of the squire or the death of Grisistomo with Marcela. Cervantes taught the reader that young lovers are obviously inexperienced and their inexperience tends to lead to tragedy in their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
