My Understanding Of The Lincoln Electric Company s...
My understanding of the Lincoln Electric Company s culture
An organization s culture consists of unseen elements such as assumptions and values that affect
organizational life, it is the personality of the company. At Lincoln Electric, even though they never
had a formal organization chart, the culture is an extremely significant aspect of everyday life and a
powerful asset; its unique and hard to imitate conceptualization gives the firm an undeniable
competitive advantage and insures maximum flexibility.
Over the decades and since it was first created, the ongoing guidance and encouragement of the
management towards their employees made Lincoln s expansion possible to a global level. The
ideas and philosophy of the founders are still at the core of the organizational culture because they
strongly supported the company in its initial stages and helped distinguish it from others. Thus, by
providing a competitive advantage, these values were retained as part of the corporate culture and
were taught to new members as the right way to do business.
The principles and ideas in which James F. Lincoln believed and that brought him his success are
still those that drive the current Board of Directors and employees every day.
His vision of the customer s needs as the raison d etre for every company was a key to a better
growth of his organization; it remains at the center of everybody s attention and is reflected in
Lincoln s policy to at all times price on the

Financial Crisis During World War II
uction The Great Recession, the name given to the financial crisis that occurred in the United
States between 2007 and 2009, saw the biggest contraction of the US economy since World War II
(Amadeo). Real GDP fell as sharply as a 6.4% annual rates and unemployment rose above ten
percent in the aftermath of the crisis. The primary culprit of the Great Recession was the US
housing market. New financial instruments that allowed for lending to subprime customers, along
with deregulation of the banking industry, and asymmetric information produced by credit agencies
all played significant roles in these happenings. Moral hazard on behalf of financial product
providers ultimately led to the asymmetric information that allowed the housing market to collapse.
Every time we feel the onset of a recession or the economy starts to slow down, the government
looks to restore the economic growth through different stimulus plans. The recession of 2008 was
one example. When the housing bubble burst it caused panic with quick financial fallout, the
government took immediate measure to stimulate the economy back to normal and to restore
confidence in the economic market (Mitchell). Congress approved the Economic Stimulus Package
in 2008 that the Bush Administration put together. The package eliminated taxes on the first
$6,000 of taxable income for individuals and the first $12,000 of income for couples. A rebate
check was mailed out to taxpayers, in amounts as follows (Amadeo):

Sears Business Strategy
Yes, Sears Holdings Corp. (SHC) should focus resources on building the online business. Sears and
Kmart stores have been deteriorating for years as the parent company has struggled to turn the
business around following years of plummeting sales (Peterson, 2017). Sears and Kmart are beyond
the point of no return. They have allowed their stores to deteriorate so much that Business Insider
claims Sears turned into a disgusting, filthy place (Peterson, 2017). Online sales are Sears and
Kmart s only chance at this point. SHC should develop its web presence to attract the next
generation of shoppers. The general environment affects all organizations within an industry and
includes technological, sociocultural and natural dimensions (Daft,... Show more content on

Telepresence provides the sense of being in a virtual store where shoppers can browse and shop as
if they were in a brick and mortar store. Through telepresence, SHC could utilize high quality and
quantity of sensory information about products to simulate the sensory information acquired during
interaction with the real product in a brick and mortar store. Web site generated telepresence
positively affects consumer beliefs and attitudes toward products, by facilitating product assessment
(utilitarian value) and creating pleasurable consumer experiences (hedonic value) (Song, et al.,
2007) SHC must develop an organizational plan to carry out the goal of increasing presence in the
online retail market. The first step in developing a plan is review of the mission and vision of the
organizations and to set goals (Daft, 2016, p. 220). The Sears mission statement is: To grow our
business by providing quality products and services at great value when and where our customers
want them, and by building positive, lasting relationships with our customers (Satterfield, 2014).
This mission statement can be utilized in the organization s movement to online sales. SHC must
also develop plans for a turbulent environment. With today s global economy, change occurs
quickly and is unpredictable. Sears must develop contingency plans for potential economic
downturns, declining markets, or technological

Schizophrenia; An Open Book
From J.D. Salinger s Catcher in the Rye comes forth the timeless protagonist,
Holden Caulfield. To some, the perplexing anomalies of his character remain a
captivating mystery, but to others, such as psychoanalysts, Holden Caulfield is an open
book. By carefully observing his social quirks and inward thoughts, psychoanalysts can
make a conclusion about his psyche. Specifically, through his lack of social contact,
occasional mood swings, and paranoia among other things, anyone looking through a
psychoanalytic lens could conclude that Holden Caulfield is schizophrenic.
The psychoanalytic lens is one of many ways to observe a work of literature. By
using this lens, psychoanalysts observe the special behaviors of a ... Show more content on

Meanwhile, Holden believes that the world is completely bisected into the
innocent and the corrupted, this is apparent in his obsession with phonies . Furthermore,
he also believes that he can prevent grey areas from occurring; affectively preventing
children from becoming adults by catching them as they fall from a perilous cliff
(Salinger 173). Holden has molded his life around this fantasy and fails to realize that
nothing can prevent children from one day becoming adults. These thoughts that seem
realistic and attainable to him are merely the products of his schizophrenic psyche.
Holden s obsession with the theme of innocence versus corruption connects to
schizophrenia in more ways than one. Ronald D. Laing s theory proposes that
schizophrenia is not an illness per say, rather it is a logical reaction of an individual to a
corrupted society. Holden s lament of his obviously corrupted world is further indication
to his schizophrenia, even if it is a rational reaction and not a disease.
More evidence of Holden s inability to distinguish reality from fantasy is in his
episodic flights of fancy. After his confrontation with Maurice, the elevator man, and
Sunny, a prostitute, he imagines, coming out of the goddam bathroom, dressed and all,
with my automatic in my pocket, and proceeding to, hold onto the banister and all,
with this blood trickling out of the side of my mouth, and later, in the episode, he would

keys, constraints and the relations with the other objects of DataTable. The dataset is a memory
resident representation of data that will provide a consistent relational programming model without
concern of the source of the data.
Dataset is a tabular representation of data i.e. it will represent data in the format of rows and
columns. This class will be counted in a disconnected architecture in .NET framework i.e. it is
found in System.data namespace. The dataset will hold records of more than one database tables.
Dataset can be used in combination with SqlDataAdapter class. Each DataTable in a DataSet is

Six Seasons
Six Seasons and a Movie: NBC s Community
Community has always been a conundrum for NBC. The show, created by Dan Harmon and
produced by Sony Pictures Television (IMDb), has never been a ratings magnet and yet has one
of the most vocal online fan bases. Community follows the path of fraudulent ex lawyer Jeff
Winger, played by Joel McHale, as he is forced to go to Greendale Community College in order to
obtain a college degree so that he practice law again. On the way, he begrudgingly befriends an
eclectic study group that shapes his character for the better. Community has so far aired a total of
eighty four episodes in four seasons (IMDb), and it has picked up a thirteen episode order for the
current season ( Upfronts 2013 ). After a mediocre ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As they tried to rebrand Community for wider appeal, the writers drew not only on old plot
points Harmon had set up in previously seasons, such as Jeff s relationship with his estranged
father, but on what they somewhat erroneously thought fans wanted to see (i.e. a romance
between Britta and Troy). Though many characters from the study group had commanding A
story lines in individual episodes, the writers tried to focus in on Jeff s character growth in this
season as he approached graduation. The fifth episode, Cooperative Escapism in Familial
Relations, addressed Jeff s tense relationship with his father. During Thanksgiving, Jeff confronts
his dad and realizes that, though he is a broken man because of his father s abandonment, Jeff
does not need his approval to be the better man he has become at Greendale. Episode twelve,
Heroic Origins , focused less specifically on Jeff but still explored how Jeff s previous lawyer life
negatively affected the others before the study group was even formed. In the season finale,
Advanced Introduction to Finality, Jeff embraces his new, more empathetic identity as he refuses a
lucrative position with an old law partner, instead committing to remain the better man he became
in the last four years by working for a smaller firm in order to stay near the study group.
Community in its previous seasons was defined by the nature of Harmon s leadership and
innovation with all his characters; without him, the show stagnated in its focus on Jeff and became
too predictable in its attempt to appeal to a wider

The reading Some Remarks on Infant Observation, A. Freud , was very interesting as it was based
on the observation of newborns/infants and mother and infant relationship by students who are
training to be physicians and psychotherapist. The field of human development from a new born
baby throughout childhooddevelopment is focused on changing the way we think about children s
mind. The core of Ana Freud s theory is to gain solid understanding of what is normal in the

The Importance Of Witchcraft In The Middle Ages
When we analyze the reputation, the culture, and the consequences of being a witch in the Middle
Ages, we can conclude that life for a witch would be easier in today s society than it would be in
the Middle Ages.
The reputation of witchcraft has become more respectful since the Middle Ages, making life a lot
easier in today s society. In contrast, the Middle Agessociety s moral views were based upon the
opinion of the Church and not of the people. The transformation was largely the result of the action
of Christian thought upon pagan sorcery and religion. Augustine, the most influential Christian
theologian, argued that pagan magic, religion, and sorcery were all invented by the Devil for the
purpose of luring humanity away from Christian truth (Russell 39). With the Catholic Church
having an enormous amount of power, the Church was able to demolish the Old Religion s
magnanimous ideas. According to the author of The Rise of Satanism in the Middle Ages , To the
Church, the devils solidified into one Satan, enemy of Christ s work here on Earth. The Old
Religion offered release from oppression and unrelenting drudgery. The author of The Rise of
Satanism in the Middle Ages further explains that, The penitential books developed the mystical
concept that all virgins were the brides of Jesus Christ. Therefore, any man who seduced a virgin
was not only committing fornication, but, at the same time, the more serious sexual crime of
adultery. Christ was cast into the role

The Importance Of Guerrilla Warfare In The Revolutionary War
Guerrilla Warfare led to the Success of the Revolutionary war
A sneaky, stealthy war tactic called Guerilla Warfare won the American Revolutionary War for the
Patriots. Guerrilla warfare is a tactic that was practiced a lot in the revolutionary war and was
without a doubt one of the few reasons the Patriots defeated the British. Guerrilla warfare helped
the colonists win the Revolutionary war. This tactic was used successfully used in the Battle of
Trenton, the Battle of Lexington and Concord, and was widely practiced by Francis Marion in the
south.
Guerrilla warfare is a tactic that does not involve head on head warfare. It is a tactic where the side
using it will hide within their surroundings. For example, the Patriots in the Revolutionary War
used all of their surroundings to their advantage like trees, rocks, houses, and walls.
Guerrilla warfare was a big part in winning many battles in the Revolutionary war. One of biggest
wins using this tactic was the Battle of Trenton. The Battle of Trenton was fought December 26,
1776 in Trenton, New Jersey. General George Washingtondecided to take the Hessians by surprise.
The Hessians were approximately 30,000 German soldiers that Great Britain hired to help them
win the war and about 1,400 were in Trenton. General George Washington took his soldiers and
crossed the Delaware river at the stroke of midnight. They were going to attack the Hessians while
they were all sleeping. Most people think that the

The Mechanics and Impact of Finance in the First World War...
The nations of Europe utilized all available resources at their disposal in order to fight the First
World War. The war s massive costs included mobilizing millions of soldiers over a sustained period
of time, supplying and supporting armies, and incurring other indirect costs. The war did not stop
because countries could not pay for these costs. Instead, the belligerents found different ways to
finance their war efforts. The mechanics of financing the major Entente and Central powers
impacted the fighting and the course of the war. Political and economic circumstances dictated the
form and structure of finance. In return, the war financing impacted military efforts, political policy,
and the strength of alliances.

A constitutional convention which kept the Reich out of this field and assigned it to the states was
at bottom one expression of the attempt of an old elite to keep its control of a dynamic, new
industrializing nation. Otto von Bismarck unified Germany at the expense of a decentralized and
inefficient national government authority. The states directly taxed their populations and then
contributed funds to the Reichstag making it difficult raising centralized revenue. Austria Hungary
resembled a similar decentralized structure because it was a dual monarchy comprising two areas
loosely joined together as an Empire. Similarly, the Ottoman Empire had both a weak
administrative structure accompanied by a limited fiscal base.
Taxation did not cover the daily expenses of fighting or at least not to any significant degree. At
best (in the United States and Britain), taxation paid for less than a quarter of the war s ongoing
costs; at worst (in France, Austria Hungary, and Russia) for none of them. In both nations [Britain
and France] borrowing was the largest source of government revenue, as it was in Germany and
indeed in all of the belligerents. The direct consequence provoked government reliance on debt
financing.
Britain and France had large financial credit markets, but refused access to the Central Powers
because they were enemies. The naval blockade denied Germany and its allies access to physical
imports and financing

The Cask Of Amontillado, By Edgar Allan Poe And The Yellow...
An unreliable narrator is a character who is telling a story, but is not completely accurate or
credible due to problems with the character s mental state or maturity. The unreliable narrator holds
a distorted view of the events taking place. This distortion gives readers a chance to offer their own
interpretations to the story being told. Unreliable narration is valuable to the reader and satisfying
to the author because the audience must look beyond what the narrator is portraying and view all
the elements of the read to understand the author s message. The Cask of Amontilladoby Edgar
Allan Poeand The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman
are great examples of unreliable
narration.
The Cask of Amontillado, Poe tells the story through the eyes and voice of the character Montresor,
a seemingly wealthy socialite in nineteenth century Italy. Montresor is the classic example of an
unreliable narrator. Montresor begins the story with You, who know the nature of my soul. This lets
the reader know he is telling an unknown entity the story.
Montresor tells the story in detail of how he leads a man, Fortunato, to his death. Montresor
repeatedly expresses the need to kill Fortunato because he has done something to insult him and
he must pay for it with his life. Montresor tells readers early in the story that he is going to be
lying to Fortunato s face by acting one way, but thinking about killing him the whole time. He says

Essay on The Benefits of Legalizing Marijuana
The war on drugs is a movement of prohibition and military aid being undertaken by the United
States government intended to both define and reduce the illegal drug trade (Bullington). In the
year 2010 the U.S. government spent $15 billion on the war on drugs, at a rate of $500 per
second. State and local governments spent another $25 billion as well. In 2007, $42 billion was
spent on the marijuana prohibition. That is more money than the war on drugs spent on all types
of drugs three years before (Hardy). Why is our government focusing on a drugthat can be called
merely harmless to those who use it? Why is this drug getting more money spent on it than drugs
that are highly addictive and life threatening? Marijuana is not as dangerous as... Show more content

Several areas of the brain have high densities of these receptors, which helps explain the different

multiple sclerosis include relief from pain and nausea, increased appetite, and reduced muscle

short term memory loss, and although this drug does not cause physical addiction a
psychological dependence can come about (Gale). Also, studies have shown that long term

Capital Gain Tax in Singapore
What does capital gain tax mean and how it will impact the thriving Singapore companies in
particular and the peoples in general? Singapore is deprived of capital gains tax till now which
actually attracts the investors to setup their companies or to have their regional branches in this
country.
The profit gained out of selling any capital assets is called capital gains. In such cases, there is a
substantial difference between the selling and purchasing price. The selling price comes to be
more compared to the purchasing price and the profit that is received out of selling is termed to be
capital gains.
The assets that come under capital assets are bonds, real estate, mutual funds, stocks, fine arts and
other similar assets. Hence, in Singapore tax is imposed on the profit gained out of selling the
capital assets. The amount of tax is fixed on it according to specific jurisdictions as every
jurisdiction has different level of taxation based on different other criteria. So, in order to calculate
tax, one has to check out the rules of the jurisdiction.
Each jurisdiction has their different types and methods of imposing tax based on various kinds of
capital assets. The tax on capital gains is also based on the time of holding the asset on their
disposal. So, capital gains tax on the basis of time is mainly divided into two different categories
which are named as the long term period and the short term period. Generally, the holding period is
calculated from the day when the

Poverty in the United Kingdom
Poverty is often associated with Third World countries, where the outcome of such poverty is
often death from disease or starvation. However this is the extremes of poverty, and is rarely
experienced within the UK. Despite this poverty still takes place within the UK just at a lesser
extent, however this does not take away from the devastating effects that povertycan have. This
poverty can be attributed to having less money and lower living standards than others of the
same society (European Anti Poverty Network, 2009). Child poverty is a direct result of adult
poverty (Poverties.org, 2011 2012) however unlike and adult, the experience of poverty for a
child can effect later life drastically. In April 2011, there were 13 million people in the UK living
below the poverty line, this included 3.6 million children (Department for Work and Pensions,
2011), and these numbers are expected to rise further (Child Poverty action Group, 2000 2012).
This type of poverty does not discriminate, it is a direct result of inadequate resources.
Unfortunately children themselves are a major contributing factor to their own poverty, as when a
child is born a family s income must spread further, at a time when income is short. Throughout
this time parents are faced with the difficult decision of returning to work in order to improve
income. However some families shall be supported by the welfare system however the current
system of increasing benefits by inflation is causing a relative drop in

Mount Everest Climbers
Mount Everest is the biggest mountain in the world, and because of that attracts many climbers to
try and climb all 29,029 feet of it, but think about all the trash they leave behind while climbing. In
2013 4,000 people have reached Everest s summit, with many more attempting to. Mount Everest
has a natural beauty, one that should be preserved, and people climbing the mountain and leaving
their garbage on it is ruining it. Climbers have a negative impact on Mount Everest, and while
journeying to the top, they are slowly destroying the mountain. First of all, the short article The
World s Highest Mountain describes what Sir Edmund Hillaryand Tenzing Norgay experienced
and felt as they climbed Mount Everest and it shows the efforts that they made afterwards to
help preserve and keep the mountain safe from the dangers of climbers. For instance, the text
states that Hillary was also deeply concerned about the environment. He helped establish
reforestation programs in Nepal. He also demanded that mountain climbers clean up the garbage
that often got left behind on Mount Everest materials like used oxygen bottles, which climbers
would discard because of their weight (Source #1 7). This shows that Sir Edmund HIllary and
Tenzing Norgay understand how much trash climbers leave behind when climbing Mount
Everest because they went on that climb and probably left some garbage on the mountain.
Additionally, it allows the audience to see that climbing the mountain means leaving trash, and
since Hillary understands this from his own climb, he is demanding people pick up their
garbage. For example, paragraph 4 of The World s Highest Mountain it says that The goal Hillary
and Norgay set for themselves wasn t easy. The pair encountered difficult challenges on the way
to the summit, such as narrow ridges and 10,000 foot drops off the mountain. Hillary and Norgay s
experience on the mountain proves to us just how difficult it is to climb Mount Everest. Because it
is so difficult to climb Mount, you wouldn t want to have to carry your garbage up and back down
the mountain, it is easier to leave it on the mountain and that is what most people do. Therefore,
because of the difficulties climbers face when climbing the

The Importance Of Memory And Working Memory
The study conducted by Gregory J. Spillers examined the length to which attention control abilities,
secondary memory abilities, or both work in the working memory capacity. Participants were asked
to perform numerous attention control, secondary memory, working memory and fluid intelligence
measures. Conformity factor analysis later suggested that attentioncontrol, secondary memory, and
working memorycapacity were best represented as three separate yet mutually factors. And each
attention control, secondary memory, and working memory capacity are correlated with fluid
intelligence. Both attention control and secondary memory are viewed for unique variance in the
working memory capacity. Additionally a crucial part of the shared variance between working
memory capacity and fluid intelligence is brought upon attention control and secondary memory
abilities. This is seen through structural equation modeling. The point of the study was to examine
whether the working memory capacity is best interpreted by secondary memory processes, attention
control or both. A latent variable method was used to study the relations with working memory
capacity, attention control, secondary memory, and fluid intelligence. Attention control measures

Evil And Dark Desires Of The Subconscious
In the play Othello by William Shakespeare, the audience encounters characters that are
manifestations of evil and dark desires of the subconscious. This theme is portrayed through the
characters of Iago and Othello. From the start, Iago s malicious intents are clear. Because of his
feelings of incompetence, particularly to Othello, he succumbs to very humanemotions like
jealousy. However, his proceeding actions seem to lack awareness and thought for others. Iago
manipulates Othello until he too becomes mad and overpowered by envy. Both characters are
immersed into their sinister roles because of accessible motives, but they experience fluxes of
instability that ultimately dehumanize their characters. At each of these transitions, the motif of
bestial and monstrous themes are present to mark the characters demise. The most effective
way of portraying a character s greatest fears is to make the audience see it themselves. By
doing so, the audience feels connected to the character and is subsequently more understanding
of his motives. Shakespeare uses bestial imagery early on in the play so that the audience may
see what lays in the subconscious of the characters. Iago is plotting against Cassio in Act 2, and
he reveals to the audience that his plan will cause Cassio, to be as full of quarrel and offense as
my young mistress dog. His desire for Cassio to be represented as rowdy animal indicates the
power reversal that Iago is scheming about. The disparity between

Asotyping In The Film Dr. Strangelove
In the film Dr. Strangelove , Stanley Kubrick took a difficult issue and transformed it into a
political comedy. He parodies the dangerous idea of an atomic war and the crazy people who were
planning it. Moreover, he tends to the issue of stereotyping. General Jack Ripper is the main
character in the film who is in the U.S. Air Force and goes completely insane, and sends bomber
wings to destroy the U.S.S.R. He thinks that the communists are conspiring to pollute the precious
bodily fluids of the American people. When the U.S. President finds out he meets with his advisors,
nuclear scientist, Turgidson, and Dr. Strangelovea former Nazi in the War Room to discuss how to
stop the attack on the Soviet Union from turning into a nuclear war. President Muffley brings
Soviet ambassador Alexi de Sadesky into the War Room and calls Soviet Premier Dimitri Kisov
on the phone to inform both on the situation. Mr. Sadesky then tells the President Muffley that if
the U.S.S.R. is hit by nuclear weapons, they will release their doomsday device which is said
can destroy all life on Earth. Now everyone in the War Room are displeased to learn about the
Doomsday Device and not knowing when it will be activated if any of Ripper s bomber wings

What Was The Shlieffen Plan

World History Pre AP
March 16, 2017
The Schlieffen Plan In the early 1900 s, before the dawn of World War I, there was a term that is
still used today called a Two Front War. This was a term that is used to describe when a war is
being fought on two separate lands simultaneously. Usually a combatant to this predicament is to
separate the country s army into two or more forces to fight against both contending forces at the
same time. During World War Ihowever, Germany was in a position having to fight France, Great
Britain, and Belgium towards the Western Front of Germany, whilst having to fight Russia on the
Eastern Front. Since Germany had to disperse their strength, the other countries end the

China, for one adopted this policy in order to curb population growth. We all know that China has
the highest population in the world, encompassing 1.2 billion or twenty one percent of the world s
population. They know too well that if this would continue to grow, they will be having serious
social and economic problems. As a solution, in the year 1979, Chinese authorities create a one
child per family policy and because male children are often regarded as more economically
valuable, female infanticides increase. Infanticides are often regarded to as an inhumane act
especially to us Christians however in primitive people; this thing is not new to them. Many Asian

Because of the ONE CHILD POLICY, China was able to control its population. They are
considered to have the highest population rate not just in Asia but in the whole world and so this
policy is more or less favorable to them. This policy was said to have been the reason why they

Android Vs Apple Vs Android
One well known ongoing controversy is Apple versus Android. Many buyers want to know
which phone will be more dependable in long run, so they will not have to purchase another one
anytime soon. People have become biased toward which device they believe performs better and
will not try and use any other programmed device. There are also those who like to experiment
and try a new something new, and love and switch or hate and remain loyal to their original buy.
People are subjective to their own decisions there is no hard proof that one is more significantly
greater than the other. Important aspects are taken into consideration when purchasing a phone
such as: hardware, software, and the basics. The way these devices perform paves how they will
appeal to potential buyers. Durability is important, because nobody wants a phone that will
crack with the slightest drop. However, people are tending to lie less on this factor because of
lifeproof, waterproof, shockproof, shatterproof, etc. cases that were developed. Battery life is a
key factory in anything technological because people want a reliable phone that they know will
hold out. Both parties allow users to view their battery life and even put it on low power mode.
However, Androidreleased a gadget that allows phones to charge faster and wirelessly, feeling
defeated Apple decided to launch the same thing. The only downside to this is that with IOS it has

it s them that could be blamed and it could be others still. It also just could have been just Juliet

Thats one of the people that most people might blame for them to be dead. He is the one who

Ethics, The, And Social Harm Essay
The researcher is acutely aware of himself or herself regarding sensitivity towards the respondent.
Furthermore, concerning some unforeseen or unexpected mistakes those need attention. Followings
are some of the required precautions to avoid some common ethics: psychological, financial and
social harm. Professional researchers always plan the researchquestions or the questionnaire to
prevent any harassment (Waller, 2011). The preparation of ethics is one of the prerequisites items
before engaging in questionnaires, interviews, or surveys whether it is online or paper. In this
respect, the researcher s To Do List should include the importance of checking the prerequisites of
these methods. To ensure that NO HARM is potential, the following are imperatives (Waller, 2011):
i.The behavior is within the ethics acceptability provisional margin. ii. How research possibly
affects any participant, whether during a survey, in depth interview, the questionnaire or any similar
iii. Protect all members engaged in research such as the instructor, the assistants on the methods, if
any, and the researcher himself or herself. On this point, the form of ethics is essential before
embarking on research or study.
Other than these, the research will extensively use secondary data sources such as books, journals,
periodicals, archives, the personal agenda of individuals, surveys, questionnaires, etc. The ethics
within all these remain the responsibility of the researchers. Secondary

Aguilaniu, Carl Etienne Juneau, Oliver Faude, and Wilfried Kindermann was first published on
September 7th, 2006. The purpose of the study was to test and determine if the decrease in plasma
pH contributes to the hyperventilation observed in humans in response to high intensity workload.
During the experiment, the plasma pH was the vocal point of this experiment where five healthy
male subjects preformed a ramp exercise. The experiment was done to see if the reduction in plasma
pH and the development of exercise hyperventilation is conclusive data to the hypothesis that says,
...Hyperventilation is a ventilatory compensation of the metabolic acidosis that develops at high
workloads and could be triggered, at least in part, by the reduction in plasma pH. (Journal of
Applied Psychology) The plasma pH and the hyperventilation from exercise were the main focuses
of the experiment and the end results data suggest that the decrease in plasma pH is one of the
factors that contribute to the hyperventilation observed at high workloads. In the conclusion of the
experiment, in the control situation, plasma pH decreased greatly below resting value and reached

The Ethics Of A Systematic Disaster Plan
When a mass casualty has stricken the nation such as the incidents of 9/11, the plane crash of a
TWA 800, or the Oklahoma City bombing; each incident involved some level of planning after the
incident took place. The planning process for managing an emergency has to take into
considerations certain factors such as the level of the devastation, what resources are needed, and
how to eliminate the likelihood of the same incident from occurring again. The basis of every
decision emergency managers will need to make revolve around ethical decisions when conducting
the planning process. Ethicsis defined as the moral principles that govern a person s or group s
behavior (Oxford Dictionary, n.d.). As it relates to first responders and... Show more content on

Will funding go to areas where there is a least likely chance of restoration or does funding go to
those areas where there is a better chance of rescue? There is an ethical duty owed to citizens
during a mass casualty especially during the decision making process because every life should
matter regardless of the cost on the local, state, or federal level. When addressing concerns for
impoverished areas, special consideration should be a concern for many emergency managers
before an incident would to hit the community (Danz, 2014).
In the realm of emergency management, there are five ethical decision making theories that are
used as a guide when developing an emergency management and preparedness plan. There theories
are the utilitarian approach, rights approach, fairness or justice approach, common good approach,
and the virtue approach. Each theory is designed with a specific end goal in mind while taking into
account the various concerns regarding funding, resources, and the rescue/recovery phases. The
utilitarian approach emphasizes on the ethical actions that provide the most good with the least
amount of harm for those affected during an emergency such as employees, customers, and the
community (Velasquez, Andre, Shanks, Meyer, S.J., 2014).
The rights approach suggests that ethical actions are done so, which best protects and respects the
moral rights of those affected. This theory focuses on the belief that humans have dignity based

Humans And The Ai Possible Now
Humans and the AI possible now, are truly one and the same What does this mean?. The Human
body is but a foundry sundry? of systems and preconditioned thinking that is lead through cause and
effect. AI is the pinnacle of humanity s attempts at mimicking the creation of life through artificial
thinking. John R. Searle argues that the intentionality in human beings is a product of the brains
and its mental processes. He also notes that the certain brain processes are sufficient (indicating that
there is at times a bare minimum of processes) for the intentionality. He also states that the
instantiation of a computer program can be done by a human but the program would still lack the
relevant intentionality. Searle also states that, any mechanism capable of producing intentionality
must have casual powers equal to those of the brain. One important thing to note in Searle s
arguments is that he separates AI into two distinct categories. Strong AI and weak AI. Strong AI
being the advanced computers that are in fact, minds, and that these computers can actually
understand things. Weak AI on the other hand, are the computers that act as nothing more than
tools to be used to study and to serve any purpose we program it to do. Searle brings up several
arguments that he refutes such as the Systems Reply, The Robot reply, The Brain simulator reply,
the combination reply, The other minds reply, and the many mansions reply. The main argument that

Epigenetic Cell Memory Essay
Cellular phenotypes can be ascribed to different patterns of gene expression. Epigenetic mechanisms
control the generation of different phenotypes from the same genotype. Thus differentiation is
basically a process driven by changes in gene activity during development, often in response to
transient factors or environmental stimuli. To keep the specific characteristics of cell types,
tissue‐specific geneexpression patterns must be transmitted stably from one cell to the daughter
cells, also in the absence of the early‐acting determination factors. This heritability of patterns of
active and inactive genes is enabled by mechanisms of epigenetic cellular memory that ensures
mitotic and sometimes also meiotic transmission of expression patterns [1].... Show more content on

The cell memory machinery is involved in maintaining cell type specific gene expression patterns
rather than its establishment. Cellular memory is provided by two counteracting groups of
chromatin proteins termed Trithorax group (TrxG) and Polycomb group (PcG) [2]. Proteins of the
Polycomb group (PcG) and of the trithorax group (trxG) are involved in the regulation of key
developmental genes, such as homeotic genes. PcG proteins maintain silent states of gene
expression, while the trxG of genes counteracts silencing with a chromatin opening function. In
Drosophila, PcG and trxG complexes are recruited to specific DNA elements named as PcG and
trxG response elements (PREs and TREs, respectively). Once recruited, these complexes seem to be
able to establish silent or open chromatin states that can be inherited through multiple cell divisions
even after decay of the primary silencing or activating signal

drinking water is extracted from groundwater sources (Marella, 2004). According to Marella
(2004), Between 1970 and 2000, total freshwater withdrawals increased for public supply by 176
percent and for agricultural self supplied by 87 percent (p. 1). As discussed previously, a
growing population correlates with an increase in the demand for groundwater resources.
Groundwater is currently being pumped out of Florida s aquifers faster than the state s
abundant rainfall can refill them (Barnett, 2007, p.2). The excessive pumping of groundwater
can create subsurface voids because of the lowering of the water table, which can lead to the
development of sinkholes due to gravity and a loss of fluid pressure support (Tihansky, 1999, p.
132). Waltham et al (2005) contend, The most widespread cause of induced sinkholes is any form
of water table decline, where the vertical drainage is quite literally drawn down to greater depths
(p. 165). In brief,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Associated activities may include installing drainage systems, grading slopes, ditching for storm
drainages, and conduits for service utilities. The disturbance of natural patterns of runoff and
rainwater infiltration through modified drainage can lead to the concentration of water flow at sites
that previously only took direct rainwater infiltration; this can result in rapid forming cover
subsidence sinkholes (Waltham et al, 2005, p. 159). The many impervious surfaces used in
modified drainage activities also impedes groundwater recharge, which can consequently lower the

Why Pharmacy Is A Chemistry And Biology
Andrew Boss
Amber Collins
STDEV 170
14 October 2015
Pharmacy
Pharmacy is a chemistry and biology orientated health profession that requires great attention to
detail and also good oral and written communication skills. I would enjoy a career in pharmacy
because it combines the two subjects that I enjoy most: chemistry and biology. This profession
would also give me the opportunity to help other people every day. Pharmacy does require several
years of schooling, however, in the long run it pays off very well. Out of all the health professions
available, pharmacy interests me the most.
Job description:
Pharmacists do much more than simply fill prescriptions. They can advise patients about a healthy
diet, ensure that prescribed medication does not conflict negatively with other medications that a
patient is taking, and can even give flu shots. Pharmacists also regularly instruct patients on when
and how to take their medication, coordinate with insurance companies about prescribed
medication, and oversee the pharmacy technicians and interns ( Pharmacists. U.S. Bureau of Labor
Statistics).
There are four different types of pharmacists: community pharmacists, clinical pharmacists,
consultant pharmacists, and pharmaceutical industry pharmacists. Community pharmacists work in
chain drug stores, and some even run their own pharmacy. They give prescribed medication to
patients, and give advice and occasionally flu shots to them as well. Clinical pharmacists are much
different. They

Portrayal of Women in Music Videos
The tarnished masterpiece of the present century
Sure God created man before woman. But then you always make a rough draft before the final
masterpiece. Author unknown. It is indeed hard to imagine or comprehend such a quote in a
society where women are often portrayed as sex symbols and sex objects. Media is one of the
major sources for gender depictions in our society and it has played a major role in placing
unfathomable gender roles on women in regards to how they are to behave, and address
themselves within a society. The gender depictions of women in our society are truly very
saddening and mind blowing!
Music is one of the most influencing media within our time and generation, especially Rap and hip
hop. Demoralizing women has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The consequences of these constant beat down on women are becoming very real in our society.
For instance, a 12 year old girl has reported that she was raped by a group of 14 year old boys at
a recreational center and it was reported just this morning. I believe that media is very influential in
these sorts of behavior from teenage boys. Media encourages these things through vulgar music,
degrading advertisements, and it promotes violence and abuse towards women and now, even little
girls.
Rap music in general has failed miserably in portraying the true worth of a woman. Women have
a character that men cannot replace in any other way. Behind every great man, there is a great
woman, and I strongly believe this because it is very applicable in my life as well. I can say that
my mother plays an important role in my life, and she stood behind my success till now. Being an
international student in this country takes a lot of courage, but the support and encouragement
from my mother has helped me every step of the way. She is able to do things that a man cannot
do; to be the nurturing, caring, patient, loving, and protective woman she can be to her children and
her family.
A woman should not be used as a sexual object or a sex symbol because that wasn t the purpose
of her creation. She was called to be a mother, a sister, a daughter. I am very saddened by the way
things have turned out in our society pertaining to

The Success of the Pirates of the Caribbean in Appealing...
The Success of the Pirates of the Caribbean in Appealing to a Wide Audience
Pirates of the Caribbean has a wide range of attractive qualities such as the fast paced action and
the way the camera work, music and action fit in together to make a fantastic family film witch
draws you to watch it again and again.
The hero s and villains play an interesting part but the best part is played by Johnny Depp as the anti
hero captain Jack Sparrow. His cunning personality makes you grin as even in the face of death
he s laughing and making jokes. For example towards the end of the film when he is about to be
hung he is laughing at the crimes he is about to be hung for.

The fast paced action like the swordfight between him and Barbossa at the end, two immortal
pirates locked in an everlasting battle.
This makes the film wide ranged because has romance, action, comedy, and fantasy, this helps the
film appeal to a wider audience.
The fantasy part of the film in my opinion is the best aspect of the film. The idea of pirates and
curses would fascinate the audience to watch with interest. It is a compelling story line which
works well with the special effects. For example when Elizabeth first learns about the curse and
doesn t believe it she walks out onto the deck and sees all the all the pirates in their ghostly form.
Any film goer would love this new and original storyline
The camera angles work well in the different parts of the film. At the beginning of the film when
we first see Elizabeth as a child the angle starts low and then zooms in on Elizabeth just the way
the camera is positioned shows us that Elizabeth is an important character. In another part of the
film when the undead pirates are walking on the sea bed the wide angle gives an affect that there
are more pirates than there really are. This gives the film a better look which appeals to everyone
that is watching.
The range of music in the film is excellent. The music is

What Is The Similarities Between Oe To Grecian Urn And Ode...
The moments in our lives that we consider peaks of happiness can never be eternal. That is why
our desires for permanence and change alternate dependent on our given state of mind. John
Keats, a man who, upon experiencing a great deal in his short 25 years, realized through these
painfully human experiences that beauty is an idea that exists in a state of infinity, however our
enjoyment of this beauty is ever changing. Thus, we begin to contradict ourselves, and wish
simultaneously for both the permanent beauty of an event or feeling as well as the unreachable
joy for more. Keats two poems, Ode to a Grecian Urn and Ode to a Nightingalediscuss these
opposing ideals, and build off of each other in a way that is comparable to a student educating...

Initially, he writes of generations mowing down those before them, as is the natural progression
of life. As generations age, the ones behind them step up to take their place, and so on and so
forth. Initially, Keats is fearful of this progression, and shows a clear desire to avoid this process
by praising the immortal bird. However, in Grecian Urn there is no sense of fear. He is
describing the same succession of life, however, it is more of a sullen acceptance rather than a
fearful cry. Perhaps this is due to the state of his health that is in constant decline that causes him to
accept the cycle of life. Regardless, the shift in tone shows the idea that Walter Jackson Batecreated
of a conscious effort in Grecian Urn to learn from its predecessor is

The Islamic Faith Sufism Essay
Islam, as a religion, is divided into two different sects, Sunni and Shi i. These divisions have their
own separate values and rituals that create an unconquerable schism between them. The gap,
however, is somewhat bridged by a twist on the Islamic faith known as Sufism. The mystic ways of
the Sufi society make it very appealing to both Sunnis and Shiites, not to mention the newcomers to
the Islamicfaith. Sufism uses the quality of unification and the quality of appeal to make it one of
the strongest aspects of Islam.
Sufism was founded on the belief that Muslims could obtain a one on one ; relationship with God
through mystical practices. Mysticism is defined as a particular method of approach to Reality

The Master proceeds to stand in the midst of this chanting, and he is followed by the circle of
devotees around him. The entire group then begins to chant very loudly while they jump, clap,
sway, or bounce. At the end of this two hour session, the Master gives some verbal command,
which causes the devotees to stop their chanting while the choir drops to a very low tone, and the
ceremony comes to an end. The Sufis believe that this type of worship will bring them to ecstasy,
thereby shortening the distance between God and themselves.
Sufis also believe that the ecstasy for which they strive can only be reached by a Pure Love ; for
the Beloved ; or God. Sufis believe that their God is omniscient and omnipotent. They hold faith
in his ability to give and take away. Their God has the undeniable ability to do anything and
everything that he wills. Their strength comes from the Beloved, and they strive solely for the
right to be one with the Beloved. The end of the Path come when the mystic soul is rapt up into
union with the Divine and the soul becomes one with God ; in much the same manner as the drop
subsists when it is merged in the ocean amp;#8230;for the part has returned to become one with the
Whole. ;
The Sufis have one particular story, which shows this deep infatuation with the Beloved. The
story speaks of a man who is asked where he is going, where he comes from, what he desires, etc.
His replies always contain the word Beloved (i.e. From the

Negligence, Liability, And Liability
QUESTION PRESENTED Concerns have arisen of a possible lawsuit involving an area of law
known as negligence and liability. This memo outlines the principles of this area of law in order to
be properly prepared should the firm face any legal consequences. It aims to illustrate under what
circumstances can the firm be affected with potential legal action in this area.
SHORT ANSWER
In legal context, Negligence is behaviour that falls below the reasonable standard of care and
liability refers to who can be held accountable for any damages occurred. Legally, the firm can
only be at risk if there is evidence that suggests negligent conduct and all four of the following
elements are met and proven: a duty of care is owed to an individual, the standard of care is not
met, damages have occurred, and the failure to meet the standard of care significantly contributed
to the damages that occurred. Along with negligence, there is a possibility of being deemed liable
and having to pay for damages. However, even if found negligent, there are tools that the firm use
to deflect or lessen liability such as vicarious liability, contributory negligence or voluntary
assumption of risk.
PRINCIPLES/TOOLS
Negligence
Negligence, in its legal definition (common law), is behaviour that falls below the standard of
care. Negligence can only be attributed if all four elements are present: a duty of care is owed, the
standard of care is not met, there is evidence of considerable damages and the

Left Neglected By Lisa Genova
Left Neglected by Lisa Genova is a novel based on a woman who gets into a car accident, suffers
from a stroke, and ends up developing left neglect. Left neglect, otherwise known as Hemispatial
neglect, develops after a stroke or brain damage to the right side of the brain. Left neglect is a
neuropsychological condition that causes an attention deficit to the awareness of the left side
of space. A person with left neglect has difficulty processing and perceiving stimuli on the left
side of their body. It can affect a person s visual perception where they are unable to see things or
interpret them on the left side of them. Typically a person with left neglect forgets that their left
side exists. Someone who suffers from left neglect may not be able to dress themselves on their
left side; they may not eat the food on the left side of their plate, or be able to read a left side of a
book. It can cause issues with their mobility where they are unaware of their left extremities,
which can lead to problems in walking or any task using bilateral coordination or skills. Sarah,
the main character in the novel, had a very busy, fulfilling life before her accident. She worked
as a human resources consultant at a very large company. This job required her to work very
long, busy hours. Her career could be considered a spillover, where her job affects and interrupts
parts of her social and family life also. She is always doing something in her office, while having

Analysis Of The Poem The Mahabharta
Abstract:The greatest Indian epic, The Mahabharta has resonated in the collective imaginations for
millenniums owing to its universal themes. Having given the world the Bhagavad Gita, the story
of Damayanti, an abbreviated version of the Ramayana, and the Rishyasringa, often considered as
works in their own right, it is basically a story of men pursuing power and men who have wronged
and have been wronged with. By virtue of this content, the author has tried to put forth her take on
the grey characters of Mahabharta.
Keywords:Pandavas, Draupadi, Bhagwat Gita, Krishna, Duryodhana 1.Introduction
Mahabharata has been an oft cited Indian epic for its grey portrayal of characters, their foibles
and the unique codes of righteousness it preaches. The story came into existence as conceived by
the medieval saint Tulsidas, and spread by word of mouth for centuries thereafter. The first and
most noted English text on Mahabharata has been Mahabharata as written by C. Rajagopalachari
which is the central focus of discourse here. A lot has been said about the anecdotes, preachings
and characterisation of the folklore Mahabharata at various social platforms and literary articles.
For those of the opinion that the original Mahabharata is just a story from the standpoint of
Pandavas; there are various other texts like Rashmirathi and Mrityunjay (Mahabharata in Karn s
perspective) and The Palace of Illusions (Draupadi s perspective of turnings) for reference and takes
on less focussed

  • 2. My Understanding Of The Lincoln Electric Company s... My understanding of the Lincoln Electric Company s culture An organization s culture consists of unseen elements such as assumptions and values that affect organizational life, it is the personality of the company. At Lincoln Electric, even though they never had a formal organization chart, the culture is an extremely significant aspect of everyday life and a powerful asset; its unique and hard to imitate conceptualization gives the firm an undeniable competitive advantage and insures maximum flexibility. Over the decades and since it was first created, the ongoing guidance and encouragement of the management towards their employees made Lincoln s expansion possible to a global level. The ideas and philosophy of the founders are still at the core of the organizational culture because they strongly supported the company in its initial stages and helped distinguish it from others. Thus, by providing a competitive advantage, these values were retained as part of the corporate culture and were taught to new members as the right way to do business. The principles and ideas in which James F. Lincoln believed and that brought him his success are still those that drive the current Board of Directors and employees every day. His vision of the customer s needs as the raison d etre for every company was a key to a better growth of his organization; it remains at the center of everybody s attention and is reflected in Lincoln s policy to at all times price on the ... • 3. Financial Crisis During World War II uction The Great Recession, the name given to the financial crisis that occurred in the United States between 2007 and 2009, saw the biggest contraction of the US economy since World War II (Amadeo). Real GDP fell as sharply as a 6.4% annual rates and unemployment rose above ten percent in the aftermath of the crisis. The primary culprit of the Great Recession was the US housing market. New financial instruments that allowed for lending to subprime customers, along with deregulation of the banking industry, and asymmetric information produced by credit agencies all played significant roles in these happenings. Moral hazard on behalf of financial product providers ultimately led to the asymmetric information that allowed the housing market to collapse. Every time we feel the onset of a recession or the economy starts to slow down, the government looks to restore the economic growth through different stimulus plans. The recession of 2008 was one example. When the housing bubble burst it caused panic with quick financial fallout, the government took immediate measure to stimulate the economy back to normal and to restore confidence in the economic market (Mitchell). Congress approved the Economic Stimulus Package in 2008 that the Bush Administration put together. The package eliminated taxes on the first $6,000 of taxable income for individuals and the first $12,000 of income for couples. A rebate check was mailed out to taxpayers, in amounts as follows (Amadeo): ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Sears Business Strategy Yes, Sears Holdings Corp. (SHC) should focus resources on building the online business. Sears and Kmart stores have been deteriorating for years as the parent company has struggled to turn the business around following years of plummeting sales (Peterson, 2017). Sears and Kmart are beyond the point of no return. They have allowed their stores to deteriorate so much that Business Insider claims Sears turned into a disgusting, filthy place (Peterson, 2017). Online sales are Sears and Kmart s only chance at this point. SHC should develop its web presence to attract the next generation of shoppers. The general environment affects all organizations within an industry and includes technological, sociocultural and natural dimensions (Daft,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Telepresence provides the sense of being in a virtual store where shoppers can browse and shop as if they were in a brick and mortar store. Through telepresence, SHC could utilize high quality and quantity of sensory information about products to simulate the sensory information acquired during interaction with the real product in a brick and mortar store. Web site generated telepresence positively affects consumer beliefs and attitudes toward products, by facilitating product assessment (utilitarian value) and creating pleasurable consumer experiences (hedonic value) (Song, et al., 2007) SHC must develop an organizational plan to carry out the goal of increasing presence in the online retail market. The first step in developing a plan is review of the mission and vision of the organizations and to set goals (Daft, 2016, p. 220). The Sears mission statement is: To grow our business by providing quality products and services at great value when and where our customers want them, and by building positive, lasting relationships with our customers (Satterfield, 2014). This mission statement can be utilized in the organization s movement to online sales. SHC must also develop plans for a turbulent environment. With today s global economy, change occurs quickly and is unpredictable. Sears must develop contingency plans for potential economic downturns, declining markets, or technological ... • 5. Schizophrenia; An Open Book From J.D. Salinger s Catcher in the Rye comes forth the timeless protagonist, Holden Caulfield. To some, the perplexing anomalies of his character remain a captivating mystery, but to others, such as psychoanalysts, Holden Caulfield is an open book. By carefully observing his social quirks and inward thoughts, psychoanalysts can make a conclusion about his psyche. Specifically, through his lack of social contact, occasional mood swings, and paranoia among other things, anyone looking through a psychoanalytic lens could conclude that Holden Caulfield is schizophrenic. The psychoanalytic lens is one of many ways to observe a work of literature. By using this lens, psychoanalysts observe the special behaviors of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Meanwhile, Holden believes that the world is completely bisected into the innocent and the corrupted, this is apparent in his obsession with phonies . Furthermore, he also believes that he can prevent grey areas from occurring; affectively preventing children from becoming adults by catching them as they fall from a perilous cliff (Salinger 173). Holden has molded his life around this fantasy and fails to realize that nothing can prevent children from one day becoming adults. These thoughts that seem realistic and attainable to him are merely the products of his schizophrenic psyche. Holden s obsession with the theme of innocence versus corruption connects to schizophrenia in more ways than one. Ronald D. Laing s theory proposes that schizophrenia is not an illness per say, rather it is a logical reaction of an individual to a corrupted society. Holden s lament of his obviously corrupted world is further indication to his schizophrenia, even if it is a rational reaction and not a disease.
  • 6. More evidence of Holden s inability to distinguish reality from fantasy is in his episodic flights of fancy. After his confrontation with Maurice, the elevator man, and Sunny, a prostitute, he imagines, coming out of the goddam bathroom, dressed and all, with my automatic in my pocket, and proceeding to, hold onto the banister and all, with this blood trickling out of the side of my mouth, and later, in the episode, he would ... • 8. Six Seasons Six Seasons and a Movie: NBC s Community Community has always been a conundrum for NBC. The show, created by Dan Harmon and produced by Sony Pictures Television (IMDb), has never been a ratings magnet and yet has one of the most vocal online fan bases. Community follows the path of fraudulent ex lawyer Jeff Winger, played by Joel McHale, as he is forced to go to Greendale Community College in order to obtain a college degree so that he practice law again. On the way, he begrudgingly befriends an eclectic study group that shapes his character for the better. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As they tried to rebrand Community for wider appeal, the writers drew not only on old plot points Harmon had set up in previously seasons, such as Jeff s relationship with his estranged father, but on what they somewhat erroneously thought fans wanted to see (i.e. a romance between Britta and Troy). Though many characters from the study group had commanding A story lines in individual episodes, the writers tried to focus in on Jeff s character growth in this season as he approached graduation. The fifth episode, Cooperative Escapism in Familial Relations, addressed Jeff s tense relationship with his father. During Thanksgiving, Jeff confronts his dad and realizes that, though he is a broken man because of his father s abandonment, Jeff does not need his approval to be the better man he has become at Greendale. Episode twelve, Heroic Origins , focused less specifically on Jeff but still explored how Jeff s previous lawyer life negatively affected the others before the study group was even formed. In the season finale, Advanced Introduction to Finality, Jeff embraces his new, more empathetic identity as he refuses a lucrative position with an old law partner, instead committing to remain the better man he became in the last four years by working for a smaller firm in order to stay near the study group. Community in its previous seasons was defined by the nature of Harmon s leadership and innovation with all his characters; without him, the show stagnated in its focus on Jeff and became too predictable in its attempt to appeal to a wider ... • 10. The Importance Of Witchcraft In The Middle Ages When we analyze the reputation, the culture, and the consequences of being a witch in the Middle Ages, we can conclude that life for a witch would be easier in today s society than it would be in the Middle Ages. The reputation of witchcraft has become more respectful since the Middle Ages, making life a lot easier in today s society. In contrast, the Middle Agessociety s moral views were based upon the opinion of the Church and not of the people. The transformation was largely the result of the action of Christian thought upon pagan sorcery and religion. Augustine, the most influential Christian theologian, argued that pagan magic, religion, and sorcery were all invented by the Devil for the purpose of luring humanity away from Christian truth (Russell 39). With the Catholic Church having an enormous amount of power, the Church was able to demolish the Old Religion s magnanimous ideas. According to the author of The Rise of Satanism in the Middle Ages , To the Church, the devils solidified into one Satan, enemy of Christ s work here on Earth. The Old Religion offered release from oppression and unrelenting drudgery. The author of The Rise of Satanism in the Middle Ages further explains that, The penitential books developed the mystical concept that all virgins were the brides of Jesus Christ. Therefore, any man who seduced a virgin was not only committing fornication, but, at the same time, the more serious sexual crime of adultery. Christ was cast into the role ... The Importance Of Guerrilla Warfare In The Revolutionary War Guerrilla Warfare led to the Success of the Revolutionary war A sneaky, stealthy war tactic called Guerilla Warfare won the American Revolutionary War for the Patriots. Guerrilla warfare is a tactic that was practiced a lot in the revolutionary war and was without a doubt one of the few reasons the Patriots defeated the British. Guerrilla warfare helped the colonists win the Revolutionary war. This tactic was used successfully used in the Battle of Trenton, the Battle of Lexington and Concord, and was widely practiced by Francis Marion in the south. Guerrilla warfare is a tactic that does not involve head on head warfare. It is a tactic where the side using it will hide within their surroundings. For example, the Patriots in the Revolutionary War used all of their surroundings to their advantage like trees, rocks, houses, and walls. Guerrilla warfare was a big part in winning many battles in the Revolutionary war. One of biggest wins using this tactic was the Battle of Trenton. The Battle of Trenton was fought December 26, 1776 in Trenton, New Jersey. General George Washingtondecided to take the Hessians by surprise. The Hessians were approximately 30,000 German soldiers that Great Britain hired to help them win the war and about 1,400 were in Trenton. The war s massive costs included mobilizing millions of soldiers over a sustained period of time, supplying and supporting armies, and incurring other indirect costs. The war did not stop because countries could not pay for these costs. Instead, the belligerents found different ways to finance their war efforts. The mechanics of financing the major Entente and Central powers impacted the fighting and the course of the war. Political and economic circumstances dictated the form and structure of finance. In return, the war financing impacted military efforts, political policy, and the strength of alliances. The nations at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A constitutional convention which kept the Reich out of this field and assigned it to the states was at bottom one expression of the attempt of an old elite to keep its control of a dynamic, new industrializing nation. Otto von Bismarck unified Germany at the expense of a decentralized and inefficient national government authority. The states directly taxed their populations and then contributed funds to the Reichstag making it difficult raising centralized revenue. Austria Hungary resembled a similar decentralized structure because it was a dual monarchy comprising two areas loosely joined together as an Empire. Similarly, the Ottoman Empire had both a weak administrative structure accompanied by a limited fiscal base. Taxation did not cover the daily expenses of fighting or at least not to any significant degree. At best (in the United States and Britain), taxation paid for less than a quarter of the war s ongoing costs; at worst (in France, Austria Hungary, and Russia) for none of them. In both nations [Britain and France] borrowing was the largest source of government revenue, as it was in Germany and indeed in all of the belligerents. The direct consequence provoked government reliance on debt financing. Britain and France had large financial credit markets, but refused access to the Central Powers because they were enemies. The naval blockade denied Germany and its allies access to physical imports and financing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. The Cask Of Amontillado, By Edgar Allan Poe And The Yellow... An unreliable narrator is a character who is telling a story, but is not completely accurate or credible due to problems with the character s mental state or maturity. The unreliable narrator holds a distorted view of the events taking place. This distortion gives readers a chance to offer their own interpretations to the story being told. Unreliable narration is valuable to the reader and satisfying to the author because the audience must look beyond what the narrator is portraying and view all the elements of the read to understand the author s message. The Cask of Amontilladoby Edgar Allan Poeand The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman are great examples of unreliable narration. The Cask of Amontillado, Poe tells the story through the eyes and voice of the character Montresor, a seemingly wealthy socialite in nineteenth century Italy. Montresor is the classic example of an unreliable narrator. Montresor begins the story with You, who know the nature of my soul. This lets the reader know he is telling an unknown entity the story. Montresor tells the story in detail of how he leads a man, Fortunato, to his death. Montresor repeatedly expresses the need to kill Fortunato because he has done something to insult him and he must pay for it with his life. Montresor tells readers early in the story that he is going to be lying to Fortunato s face by acting one way, but thinking about killing him the whole time. Essay on The Benefits of Legalizing Marijuana The war on drugs is a movement of prohibition and military aid being undertaken by the United States government intended to both define and reduce the illegal drug trade (Bullington). In the year 2010 the U.S. government spent $15 billion on the war on drugs, at a rate of $500 per second. State and local governments spent another $25 billion as well. In 2007, $42 billion was spent on the marijuana prohibition. That is more money than the war on drugs spent on all types of drugs three years before (Hardy). Why is our government focusing on a drugthat can be called merely harmless to those who use it? Why is this drug getting more money spent on it than drugs that are highly addictive and life threatening? Marijuana is not as dangerous as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 15. Capital Gain Tax in Singapore What does capital gain tax mean and how it will impact the thriving Singapore companies in particular and the peoples in general? Singapore is deprived of capital gains tax till now which actually attracts the investors to setup their companies or to have their regional branches in this country. The profit gained out of selling any capital assets is called capital gains. In such cases, there is a substantial difference between the selling and purchasing price. The selling price comes to be more compared to the purchasing price and the profit that is received out of selling is termed to be capital gains. The assets that come under capital assets are bonds, real estate, mutual funds, stocks, fine arts and other similar assets. Hence, in Singapore tax is imposed on the profit gained out of selling the capital assets. The amount of tax is fixed on it according to specific jurisdictions as every jurisdiction has different level of taxation based on different other criteria. So, in order to calculate tax, one has to check out the rules of the jurisdiction. Each jurisdiction has their different types and methods of imposing tax based on various kinds of capital assets. The tax on capital gains is also based on the time of holding the asset on their disposal. So, capital gains tax on the basis of time is mainly divided into two different categories which are named as the long term period and the short term period. • 16. Poverty in the United Kingdom Poverty is often associated with Third World countries, where the outcome of such poverty is often death from disease or starvation. However this is the extremes of poverty, and is rarely experienced within the UK. Despite this poverty still takes place within the UK just at a lesser extent, however this does not take away from the devastating effects that povertycan have. This poverty can be attributed to having less money and lower living standards than others of the same society (European Anti Poverty Network, 2009). Child poverty is a direct result of adult poverty (Poverties.org, 2011 2012) however unlike and adult, the experience of poverty for a child can effect later life drastically. In April 2011, there were 13 million people in the UK living below the poverty line, this included 3.6 million children (Department for Work and Pensions, 2011), and these numbers are expected to rise further (Child Poverty action Group, 2000 2012). This type of poverty does not discriminate, it is a direct result of inadequate resources. Unfortunately children themselves are a major contributing factor to their own poverty, as when a child is born a family s income must spread further, at a time when income is short. Throughout this time parents are faced with the difficult decision of returning to work in order to improve income. • 17. Mount Everest Climbers Mount Everest is the biggest mountain in the world, and because of that attracts many climbers to try and climb all 29,029 feet of it, but think about all the trash they leave behind while climbing. In 2013 4,000 people have reached Everest s summit, with many more attempting to. Mount Everest has a natural beauty, one that should be preserved, and people climbing the mountain and leaving their garbage on it is ruining it. Climbers have a negative impact on Mount Everest, and while journeying to the top, they are slowly destroying the mountain. First of all, the short article The World s Highest Mountain describes what Sir Edmund Hillaryand Tenzing Norgay experienced and felt as they climbed Mount Everest and it shows the efforts that they made afterwards to help preserve and keep the mountain safe from the dangers of climbers. For instance, the text states that Hillary was also deeply concerned about the environment. He helped establish reforestation programs in Nepal. He also demanded that mountain climbers clean up the garbage that often got left behind on Mount Everest materials like used oxygen bottles, which climbers would discard because of their weight (Source #1 7). This shows that Sir Edmund HIllary and Tenzing Norgay understand how much trash climbers leave behind when climbing Mount Everest because they went on that climb and probably left some garbage on the mountain. Additionally, it allows the audience to see that climbing the mountain means leaving trash, and since Hillary understands this from his own climb, he is demanding people pick up their garbage. For example, paragraph 4 of The World s Highest Mountain it says that The goal Hillary and Norgay set for themselves wasn t easy. The pair encountered difficult challenges on the way to the summit, such as narrow ridges and 10,000 foot drops off the mountain. Hillary and Norgay s experience on the mountain proves to us just how difficult it is to climb Mount Everest. Because it is so difficult to climb Mount, you wouldn t want to have to carry your garbage up and back down the mountain, it is easier to leave it on the mountain and that is what most people do. Hot Florida sun and a ocean that stretches as far as the eye can see were all awaiting us. The thrill of it all ran from the top of my head to the bottom of my flip flops that will surely be on the beach in no time. Looking out the window of the airplane with popping ears, we came into landing at the Fort Myers airport! The heavy luggage pulled my arms down while walking out of the airport to find a rental car. The Florida sun and a hot breeze blew on my face, instantly lightening my drowsy mood. Little did we know that we had to wait about 25 minutes before getting our car, and sitting directly in the sun with a sweatshirt and pants on was unpleasant. • 20. The Importance Of Memory And Working Memory The study conducted by Gregory J. Spillers examined the length to which attention control abilities, secondary memory abilities, or both work in the working memory capacity. Participants were asked to perform numerous attention control, secondary memory, working memory and fluid intelligence measures. Conformity factor analysis later suggested that attentioncontrol, secondary memory, and working memorycapacity were best represented as three separate yet mutually factors. And each attention control, secondary memory, and working memory capacity are correlated with fluid intelligence. Both attention control and secondary memory are viewed for unique variance in the working memory capacity. Additionally a crucial part of the shared variance between working memory capacity and fluid intelligence is brought upon attention control and secondary memory abilities. This is seen through structural equation modeling. The point of the study was to examine whether the working memory capacity is best interpreted by secondary memory processes, attention control or both. A latent variable method was used to study the relations with working memory capacity, attention control, secondary memory, and fluid intelligence. • 22. Evil And Dark Desires Of The Subconscious In the play Othello by William Shakespeare, the audience encounters characters that are manifestations of evil and dark desires of the subconscious. This theme is portrayed through the characters of Iago and Othello. From the start, Iago s malicious intents are clear. Because of his feelings of incompetence, particularly to Othello, he succumbs to very humanemotions like jealousy. However, his proceeding actions seem to lack awareness and thought for others. Iago manipulates Othello until he too becomes mad and overpowered by envy. Both characters are immersed into their sinister roles because of accessible motives, but they experience fluxes of instability that ultimately dehumanize their characters. At each of these transitions, the motif of bestial and monstrous themes are present to mark the characters demise. The most effective way of portraying a character s greatest fears is to make the audience see it themselves. By doing so, the audience feels connected to the character and is subsequently more understanding of his motives. Shakespeare uses bestial imagery early on in the play so that the audience may see what lays in the subconscious of the characters. Iago is plotting against Cassio in Act 2, and he reveals to the audience that his plan will cause Cassio, to be as full of quarrel and offense as my young mistress dog. His desire for Cassio to be represented as rowdy animal indicates the power reversal that Iago is scheming about. The disparity between ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The planning process for managing an emergency has to take into considerations certain factors such as the level of the devastation, what resources are needed, and how to eliminate the likelihood of the same incident from occurring again. The basis of every decision emergency managers will need to make revolve around ethical decisions when conducting the planning process. Ethicsis defined as the moral principles that govern a person s or group s behavior (Oxford Dictionary, n.d.). As it relates to first responders and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Will funding go to areas where there is a least likely chance of restoration or does funding go to those areas where there is a better chance of rescue? There is an ethical duty owed to citizens during a mass casualty especially during the decision making process because every life should matter regardless of the cost on the local, state, or federal level. When addressing concerns for impoverished areas, special consideration should be a concern for many emergency managers before an incident would to hit the community (Danz, 2014). In the realm of emergency management, there are five ethical decision making theories that are used as a guide when developing an emergency management and preparedness plan. There theories are the utilitarian approach, rights approach, fairness or justice approach, common good approach, and the virtue approach. Each theory is designed with a specific end goal in mind while taking into account the various concerns regarding funding, resources, and the rescue/recovery phases. The utilitarian approach emphasizes on the ethical actions that provide the most good with the least amount of harm for those affected during an emergency such as employees, customers, and the community (Velasquez, Andre, Shanks, Meyer, S.J., 2014). The rights approach suggests that ethical actions are done so, which best protects and respects the moral rights of those affected. This theory focuses on the belief that humans have dignity based ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Human body is but a foundry sundry? of systems and preconditioned thinking that is lead through cause and effect. AI is the pinnacle of humanity s attempts at mimicking the creation of life through artificial thinking. John R. Searle argues that the intentionality in human beings is a product of the brains and its mental processes. He also notes that the certain brain processes are sufficient (indicating that there is at times a bare minimum of processes) for the intentionality. He also states that the instantiation of a computer program can be done by a human but the program would still lack the relevant intentionality. Searle also states that, any mechanism capable of producing intentionality must have casual powers equal to those of the brain. One important thing to note in Searle s arguments is that he separates AI into two distinct categories. Strong AI and weak AI. Strong AI being the advanced computers that are in fact, minds, and that these computers can actually understand things. Weak AI on the other hand, are the computers that act as nothing more than tools to be used to study and to serve any purpose we program it to do. Searle brings up several arguments that he refutes such as the Systems Reply, The Robot reply, The Brain simulator reply, the combination reply, The other minds reply, and the many mansions reply. • 44. Epigenetic Cell Memory Essay Cellular phenotypes can be ascribed to different patterns of gene expression. Epigenetic mechanisms control the generation of different phenotypes from the same genotype. Thus differentiation is basically a process driven by changes in gene activity during development, often in response to transient factors or environmental stimuli. To keep the specific characteristics of cell types, tissue‐specific geneexpression patterns must be transmitted stably from one cell to the daughter cells, also in the absence of the early‐acting determination factors. This heritability of patterns of active and inactive genes is enabled by mechanisms of epigenetic cellular memory that ensures mitotic and sometimes also meiotic transmission of expression patterns [1].... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The cell memory machinery is involved in maintaining cell type specific gene expression patterns rather than its establishment. Cellular memory is provided by two counteracting groups of chromatin proteins termed Trithorax group (TrxG) and Polycomb group (PcG) [2]. Proteins of the Polycomb group (PcG) and of the trithorax group (trxG) are involved in the regulation of key developmental genes, such as homeotic genes. PcG proteins maintain silent states of gene expression, while the trxG of genes counteracts silencing with a chromatin opening function. In Drosophila, PcG and trxG complexes are recruited to specific DNA elements named as PcG and trxG response elements (PREs and TREs, respectively). Once recruited, these complexes seem to be able to establish silent or open chromatin states that can be inherited through multiple cell divisions even after decay of the primary silencing or activating signal ... • 45. Groundwater Pumping In Florida Groundwater Pumping The state of Florida is very dependent on groundwater, primarily for public and agricultural supply. Indeed, the largest source of drinking water in Florida is groundwater from the state s massive aquifer system; approximately ninety percent of the state s drinking water is extracted from groundwater sources (Marella, 2004). According to Marella (2004), Between 1970 and 2000, total freshwater withdrawals increased for public supply by 176 percent and for agricultural self supplied by 87 percent (p. 1). As discussed previously, a growing population correlates with an increase in the demand for groundwater resources. Groundwater is currently being pumped out of Florida s aquifers faster than the state s abundant rainfall can refill them (Barnett, 2007, p.2). The excessive pumping of groundwater can create subsurface voids because of the lowering of the water table, which can lead to the development of sinkholes due to gravity and a loss of fluid pressure support (Tihansky, 1999, p. 132). Waltham et al (2005) contend, The most widespread cause of induced sinkholes is any form of water table decline, where the vertical drainage is quite literally drawn down to greater depths (p. 165). The disturbance of natural patterns of runoff and rainwater infiltration through modified drainage can lead to the concentration of water flow at sites that previously only took direct rainwater infiltration; this can result in rapid forming cover subsidence sinkholes (Waltham et al, 2005, p. 159). The many impervious surfaces used in modified drainage activities also impedes groundwater recharge, which can consequently lower the water ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Why Pharmacy Is A Chemistry And Biology Andrew Boss Amber Collins STDEV 170 14 October 2015 Pharmacy Pharmacy is a chemistry and biology orientated health profession that requires great attention to detail and also good oral and written communication skills. I would enjoy a career in pharmacy because it combines the two subjects that I enjoy most: chemistry and biology. This profession would also give me the opportunity to help other people every day. Pharmacy does require several years of schooling, however, in the long run it pays off very well. Out of all the health professions available, pharmacy interests me the most. Job description: Pharmacists do much more than simply fill prescriptions. They can advise patients about a healthy diet, ensure that prescribed medication does not conflict negatively with other medications that a patient is taking, and can even give flu shots. Pharmacists also regularly instruct patients on when and how to take their medication, coordinate with insurance companies about prescribed medication, and oversee the pharmacy technicians and interns ( Pharmacists. U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). There are four different types of pharmacists: community pharmacists, clinical pharmacists, consultant pharmacists, and pharmaceutical industry pharmacists. Community pharmacists work in chain drug stores, and some even run their own pharmacy. They give prescribed medication to patients, and give advice and occasionally flu shots to them as well. Clinical pharmacists are much different. They ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Author unknown. It is indeed hard to imagine or comprehend such a quote in a society where women are often portrayed as sex symbols and sex objects. Media is one of the major sources for gender depictions in our society and it has played a major role in placing unfathomable gender roles on women in regards to how they are to behave, and address themselves within a society. For instance, a 12 year old girl has reported that she was raped by a group of 14 year old boys at a recreational center and it was reported just this morning. I believe that media is very influential in these sorts of behavior from teenage boys. Media encourages these things through vulgar music, degrading advertisements, and it promotes violence and abuse towards women and now, even little girls. Rap music in general has failed miserably in portraying the true worth of a woman. Women have a character that men cannot replace in any other way. Behind every great man, there is a great woman, and I strongly believe this because it is very applicable in my life as well. I can say that my mother plays an important role in my life, and she stood behind my success till now. Being an international student in this country takes a lot of courage, but the support and encouragement from my mother has helped me every step of the way. She is able to do things that a man cannot do; to be the nurturing, caring, patient, loving, and protective woman she can be to her children and her family. A woman should not be used as a sexual object or a sex symbol because that wasn t the purpose of her creation. She was called to be a mother, a sister, a daughter. The fantasy part of the film in my opinion is the best aspect of the film. The idea of pirates and curses would fascinate the audience to watch with interest. It is a compelling story line which works well with the special effects. For example when Elizabeth first learns about the curse and doesn t believe it she walks out onto the deck and sees all the all the pirates in their ghostly form. Any film goer would love this new and original storyline The camera angles work well in the different parts of the film. At the beginning of the film when we first see Elizabeth as a child the angle starts low and then zooms in on Elizabeth just the way the camera is positioned shows us that Elizabeth is an important character. In another part of the film when the undead pirates are walking on the sea bed the wide angle gives an affect that there are more pirates than there really are. That is why our desires for permanence and change alternate dependent on our given state of mind. John Keats, a man who, upon experiencing a great deal in his short 25 years, realized through these painfully human experiences that beauty is an idea that exists in a state of infinity, however our enjoyment of this beauty is ever changing. Thus, we begin to contradict ourselves, and wish simultaneously for both the permanent beauty of an event or feeling as well as the unreachable joy for more. He is describing the same succession of life, however, it is more of a sullen acceptance rather than a fearful cry. The mystic ways of the Sufi society make it very appealing to both Sunnis and Shiites, not to mention the newcomers to the Islamicfaith. Sufism uses the quality of unification and the quality of appeal to make it one of the strongest aspects of Islam. • 51. Negligence, Liability, And Liability QUESTION PRESENTED Concerns have arisen of a possible lawsuit involving an area of law known as negligence and liability. This memo outlines the principles of this area of law in order to be properly prepared should the firm face any legal consequences. It aims to illustrate under what circumstances can the firm be affected with potential legal action in this area. SHORT ANSWER In legal context, Negligence is behaviour that falls below the reasonable standard of care and liability refers to who can be held accountable for any damages occurred. Legally, the firm can only be at risk if there is evidence that suggests negligent conduct and all four of the following elements are met and proven: a duty of care is owed to an individual, the standard of care is not met, damages have occurred, and the failure to meet the standard of care significantly contributed to the damages that occurred. Along with negligence, there is a possibility of being deemed liable and having to pay for damages. However, even if found negligent, there are tools that the firm use to deflect or lessen liability such as vicarious liability, contributory negligence or voluntary assumption of risk. PRINCIPLES/TOOLS Negligence Negligence, in its legal definition (common law), is behaviour that falls below the standard of care. Negligence can only be attributed if all four elements are present: a duty of care is owed, the standard of care is not met, there is evidence of considerable damages and the ... • 52. Left Neglected By Lisa Genova Left Neglected by Lisa Genova is a novel based on a woman who gets into a car accident, suffers from a stroke, and ends up developing left neglect. Left neglect, otherwise known as Hemispatial neglect, develops after a stroke or brain damage to the right side of the brain. Left neglect is a neuropsychological condition that causes an attention deficit to the awareness of the left side of space. A person with left neglect has difficulty processing and perceiving stimuli on the left side of their body. It can affect a person s visual perception where they are unable to see things or interpret them on the left side of them. Typically a person with left neglect forgets that their left side exists. Someone who suffers from left neglect may not be able to dress themselves on their left side; they may not eat the food on the left side of their plate, or be able to read a left side of a book. It can cause issues with their mobility where they are unaware of their left extremities, which can lead to problems in walking or any task using bilateral coordination or skills. Sarah, the main character in the novel, had a very busy, fulfilling life before her accident. She worked as a human resources consultant at a very large company. Having given the world the Bhagavad Gita, the story of Damayanti, an abbreviated version of the Ramayana, and the Rishyasringa, often considered as works in their own right, it is basically a story of men pursuing power and men who have wronged and have been wronged with. By virtue of this content, the author has tried to put forth her take on the grey characters of Mahabharta. Keywords:Pandavas, Draupadi, Bhagwat Gita, Krishna, Duryodhana 1.Introduction Mahabharata has been an oft cited Indian epic for its grey portrayal of characters, their foibles and the unique codes of righteousness it preaches. The story came into existence as conceived by the medieval saint Tulsidas, and spread by word of mouth for centuries thereafter. The first and most noted English text on Mahabharata has been Mahabharata as written by C. Rajagopalachari which is the central focus of discourse here. A lot has been said about the anecdotes, preachings and characterisation of the folklore Mahabharata at various social platforms and literary articles. For those of the opinion that the original Mahabharata is just a story from the standpoint of Pandavas; there are various other texts like Rashmirathi and Mrityunjay (Mahabharata in Karn s perspective) and The Palace of Illusions (Draupadi s perspective of turnings) for reference and takes on less focussed ...
