Enneagram Reflection
Everyone has their own characteristics that set them apart. The way they act, think, and feel gives
them their own individual personality. But what if you could learn exactly what type of person you
are? That is what intrigued me when I heard about the Enneagram system. I have taken personality
quizzes before, but none were as accurate as the Enneagram. By taking this quiz, I learned more about
myself than I realized I knew. The largest components of this questionnaire are the center, wings, and
arrows. One s personality is more complex than it seems. Even though I am classified to a particular
group, I blend into other types similar to mine. Along with the Enneagram questionnaire, I completed
a Learning Styles survey. This survey also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I fully agree with this quote and believe the personality type five describes me to a T. Fives are a part
of the thinking center, also known as the head center. As a five, I overanalyze what I am going to do. A
big aspect of being a five is to get out of my head and go with the flow. I need to value being present
and active. Instead of thinking about what I should do, I need to go out and do it. Another thing fives
need to work on is taking risks and speaking up. I am generally a very quiet and conservative person. I
weigh out the pros and cons to every situation before coming to a conclusion. Although I like people
and am a very friendly individual, I come off as standoffish. I struggle with opening up to others if I
don t know them. The wings of a five are four and six. I consider myself a loyal, anxious, and cautious
individual. These are characteristics of the six wing that blend over into the five. However, if I had
more of a four wing I would be empathetic and self absorbed. With a stronger six wing, I am more
interested in sciences and subjects where thinking is involved. The arrows of a five are seven and
eight. Fives suddenly become hyperactive and scattered at seven when they are stressed. Sevens
contain characteristics that are drastically different than a five. These include being spontaneous and
imaginative. However, when moving in

Okonkwo Identity
In the the book Things Fall Apart, the main character in the book is Okonkwo and he is a leader and a
type of person who always stands by tradition. Okonkwo is best known for his manliness and tough
inflexible character during the book. Okonkwo is the best fighter in all of Umuofia(He was still young
but he had won fame as the greatest wrestler in the nine villages. pg6). If there was a hard place in a
rock, it would be Okonkwo but at the end of the book he kills himself. Okonkwo s sense of identity
was challenged with the introduction of Western ideas into the ibo culture. Okonkwo started the novel
harder than the metal that made the nails, but the cultural collision of the British colonist and Ibo
people affected Okonkwo to the point of him killing himself in the end instead of fighting. Ultimately
the reasons for Okonkwo s change in sense of identity and how the introduction of Western ideas
shaped the meaning of the work as a whole embodied the abandonment of the Ibo people s faith, the
British colonist of course, and the lack of understanding between the two very different cultures. ...

Okonkwo has to adapt to a new side on some of his beliefs because of the knowledge of his uncle
Uchendu. The Colonist are first referred to in chapter 15 page 102 as Albinos . Okonkwo s first
response to hearing this information was hostile God will not permit it, . We see evidence of the
British colonist intervening by destruction of Abame, Abame has been wiped out, said Obierika ( 102
ch 15). This evidence supports my claim because it shows the the colonist in a dark crooked light and
they ve just showed up. This shows the turmoil and negativity upon the Ibo people and they have only
yet heard about them and the abolition of Abame which led to Okonkwo s change in sense of identity
and the Western ideas shaping the meaning as a

History and development of WTO
http://www.wto.org/english/thewto_e/whatis_e/inbrief_e/inbr01_e.htm
The World Trade Organization (WTO) was founded in 1995 as a result of the Uruguay Round. The
WTO is the successor to the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT). So while it is still
young, the multilateral trading system that was originally set up under GATT is well over 50 years old.
The system was developed through a series of trade negotiations, or rounds, held under GATT. The
goal of WTO is to improve the welfare of the peoples of the member countries . The WTO has a
number of principles, which are the foundation of the multilateral trading system.
First of all, there are two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because opening markets can be beneficial but also requires adjustment, The WTO agreements allow
changes to be introduced gradually by its member countries, through progressive liberalization . Plus,
developing countries are usually given longer to fulfill their obligations.
The fourth principle is Predictability: through binding and transparency. This encourages investment,
creation of job and fair competition (more choice and lower price). This can be achieved through
binding arrangement and transparency; promising not to raise a trade barrier; government disclosing
their policies and practices publicly within the country or notifying the WTO; regular surveillance of
national trade policies.
Another principle is Promoting Fair Competition. The WTO is a system of rules dedicated to open,
fair and undistorted competition. It discourages unfair practices such as export subsidies and dumping
products at below cost to gain market share. The rules on non discrimination MFN and national
treatment and most of other WTO regulations are designed to secure fair conditions of trade. Many of
the other WTO agreements aim to support fair competition: in agriculture, intellectual property,
services.
Last principle of the WTO is Encouraging development and economic reform.
The WTO system contributes to development as the WTO is paying attentions to developing
countries. More than

Cultural Influences On Bullying
There are many influences that play their parts within Bullying that many of us are not always aware
of. Social roles, cultural beliefs and biases, social inequality, and even excising social conditions fall
within social issues of Bullying. For starters, a victim and Bullies are considered the social roles of
Bullying. The victim often describes the person being bullied as opposed to the bully is the person
initiating bullying.
When a person is initiating bullying, it often refers to verbal or physical harassment such as fighting,
calling names and even black mailing. In fact, researchers and bloggers have mentioned labeling kids,
as victims and Bullies does not help discard the situation. It is known to cause children to identify
themselves as victims and bullies and patterns may be repeated. Nonetheless, although social roles
such as Victims and Bullies can be negative as far as labeling, it has helps understand the source of
warning signs and aggressive behavior so it can be managed properly. For example, Warning signs
such as constantly speaking negative, getting into a lot of fights, being aggressive and even coming
home with scars and bruises. Average shows that potential bullying may occurs during the 4th 12th
grade. During these situations some schools have requested organizations and awareness taught during
classes to help educate kids on he effects and possible consequences of bullying.
During my research of bullying I came across many cultural beliefs

Monogamy In American Culture
In American culture, relationships, commitment, and sex are synonymous with monogamy. However,
this is not always the case. Monogamy is defined by Merriam Webster as the state or practice of being
married to only one person at a time or of having only one sexual partner during a period of time.
Alternatively, polyamory is defined as the state or practice of having more than one open romantic
relationship at a time.
The word polyamory derives from both Greek (poly) and Latin (amory) roots and can be directly
translated to mean many loves. This is an idea of which popularity has risen a great deal in
mainstream media over the last couple of decades.
To the average American, monogamy represents a normal part of life. Children grow up ... Show more

It has often been emphasized in research that poly love involves hard work along with a dedication to
each partner. Polyamory, like monogamy, is rooted in love. This love may be expressed emotionally,
spiritually, sexually, or all three. Several researchers have stressed that poly love is based on the values
of freedom, honesty, and commitment. This is relevant because it gives a new perspective on how non
monogamous relationships can be arranged. The tendencies to rely on deceit or lies to cover up
infidelity are no longer an issue. However, other issues can arise involving the communication
between partners. One issue that is often a point of contempt for many people is

relationship climate change and politics has been fluctuating over the past few decades. In 2006, An
Inconvenient Truth, a film that called for action against climate change, gained mass attention from
the American Public. However, this rally for environmental sustainability created some undesirable
consequences. There is a growing movement for anti climate change by various CEOS, scientists,
politicians, etc. that have been marketing against green movements. They claim that climate change
was developed out of scientific malpractice, has no scientific backing, and the bad weather we
experience is no more abnormal than it was a century ago. However,

Benefits Of A Company On The World One Car At A Time
A company taking its focus on saving the world one car at a time, is not only creative but a wise
position. Nowadays, a lot of people have heard something about climate change regardless if they see
it as a problem they have heard something about it. Zipcar is providing people a way to be stewards of
creation and allows them to empower people to make a responsible decision with their lives. Zipcar
customers must be responsible as they are entrusting them with a huge asset and the people that are
well informed seem to have some correlation with being responsible. In order of Zipcar to be
successful it s customers do not have to understand how our environment is depleting around us, but
because of their focus their idea the company has attracted a lot of environmentally friend people.
Zipcar also makes it hard for others to compete with them as they are already branded on saving the
environment and convenience. Not only is Zipcar focused on saving the environment they are saving
their customers money, which I find interesting due to the fact it is similar to renting and over the long
term renting isn t better than owning. However, positioning on saving both environment and
consumers money is becoming a huge trend in urban areas.
It seems to be clear that people who use Zipcar see themselves as set apart form society and as a result
of their decision they are intelligent and responsible. The case makes that clear with one of their
customers talking about another Zipcar user,

Hinduism
To begin, my part of the project focused on the gods Krishna, Parvati and Shiva and these three gods
play a significant role in Hinduism. Hinduism has many deities within this religion and it is most
commonly practiced in South Asia in countries such as India. Hinduism currently has over 900 million
followers. The first topic, in my essay, I am going to compare and contrast Hinduism from the
Abrahamic religions to Hinduism. Most religions like Christianity, Islam and Judaism have a founder
and a main religious text but Hinduism on the other hand is unique in its own way. In the second topic
I am going to talk about the gods that I chose for my part in the project. The god Krishna in Hinduism
is one of the most popular gods of the religion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because Hinduism was started in India, some are offshoots of it, one is considered to be a direct link
of it and the others are movements of it based on a certain guru they follow. Here are some of the
religions that are similar to Hinduism, Buddhism and the movements are Hare Krishna s and followers
of both the Sai Baba gurus. Here are some of things that make Buddhism and Hinduism similar, both
believe in reincarnation and practice different kinds of yoga. Another thing that is common between
the two is that Ashoka Gautama was a Hindu and he is the founder of Buddhism and his religion still
incorporates some of the practices that are from Hinduism. Hare Krishna is a movement that was
founded in the U.S. in recent times and they focus their belief on Krishna. The founder of this
movement was A.C. Bhaktivedanta and he was told to bring the teachings he learned to the west to
spread the word and spark interest to join this movement. Their teachings come primarily from the
Bhagavad gita and another text. Another thing that they practice is they view the cow very sacred and
are vegetarians just like other Hindus. Also they are very small in numbers but they do have their own
temples. This group is similar because of how they look at only one part of the yoga s Bhakti, but they
do follow everything else of the religion. Another movement of Hinduism, are the followers of Satya
Sai Baba and believed he was the reincarnation of the god Shiva and also a living god. He was also
known for saying he performed miracles just like the god Krishna did, but there was a lot of
speculation that he didn t. Also he was well known for his philanthropy on providing clean water in
rural areas of India and has other projects that are currently going on. The other one is the original Sai
Baba, his name is Sai Baba of Shirdi and he also was a spiritual

A Brief Note On Surface Water And Water Pollution
Surface water (rivers, streams, and lakes) are the main sources of domestic, industrial and irrigation
water uses in many areas in the world, and play a very important role in hydrologic and
biogeochemical cycles. As important as these surface waters are, only a minimum number are
maintained and can be found in their natural condition due to intensive human activities such as
urbanization and surface water pollution, making it a great environmental concern worldwide (Zhao et
al., 2011). Every time it rains, rivers and streams and are subject to non point source pollution. These
rivers and streams are highly vulnerable water bodies because of the role they play in carrying off and

By characterizing the spatial and temporal variation in the water quality of rivers and streams, results
from water quality analysis can provide an improved understanding of the environmental conditions
and m help policy makers establish priorities for sustainable water management (Cooper et al., 2002
and Antonopoulos et al., 2001). Watershed scale analysis of water quality variables can illustrate the
changing influence of various human activities in different sub basins and as one proceeds from
headwaters to downstream. Reports on stormwater quality management program have shown that
Greensboro currently faces water pollution problems in its main rivers and lakes (Greensboro Water
Resources Dept., Report, 2013). Water quality at most of the regularly monitored stations in major
rivers and streams in the county are below the United States Environmental Protection Agency
(USEPA) standards suitable for human consumption and aquatic life sustainability including sites
along the Buffalo Creeks and Reedy Fork Creek. The condition of the water in Greensboro Rivers and
streams is related to land use and the quality and quantity of the rainfall washing off the landscape. In
an urban setting like Greensboro, the predominant factors in determining the water quality
characteristics of rivers and streams are the pollutants washing off Greensboro s

Takeaways Analysis
On Sunday night, the Golden State Warriors defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 132 113 in Game 2 of
the 2017 NBA Finals, taking a commanding 2 0 series lead. Even though Cavaliers superstar LeBron
James notched his eighth NBA Finals triple double, tying him with Magic Johnson for the most in
NBA Finals history, it was not enough to overcome the offensive firepower of the Warriors.
Just like in Game 1, it was once again the Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry show.
Here are three takeaways from Game 2:
1. Kevin Durant is on his way to potentially being named Finals MVP
After his phenomenal Game 1 performance, many people wondered what Kevin Durant would do for
an encore performance in Game 2?
To answer that question, Durant did not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite his stellar perimeter defense, the Warriors needed Thompson to find his shot again and give
them an extra offensive boost in Game 2.
Thompson did just that as he pitched in with 22 points and seven rebounds, plus knocked down 4 of 7
from three point range. Give Thompson credit though, he is an outstanding shooter and when you are
a shooter like him, you need to have a short memory.
A missed shot will not make or break you. Thompson was knocking down shots inside the arc, putting
the ball on the floor, and dialing it up from distance.
The Warriors will need him to continue to shoot the ball like he did on Sunday night, especially if they
want to win Game 3 on Tuesday night and take a commanding 3 0 series lead.
3. LeBron James is still the greatest player in the world but he cannot do it all
Once again in the NBA Finals, LeBron James gave us another special performance. As I mentioned
earlier, James posted his eighth NBA Finals triple double consisting of 29 points, 14 rebounds, and 11
assists, but it was not enough.
Early in the game, James was playing like a man possessed. He was controlling the tempo, attacking
the basket with force and tenacity, while also getting his teammates involved. He also threw down a
powerful dunk on Andre Iguodala, who was at the wrong place at the wrong time.
However, James teammates could not reciprocate the favor and help him out. Just like in Game 1, J.R.

Emission-Excitation Matrices
INTRODUCTION
Emission Excitation Matrices (EEMs) are three dimensional fluorescence data that provide
information about the composition of fluorescent chemical mixtures. They constitute optical
landscapes that extend over the dimensions of excitation and emission wavelengths {λex λem}, and
where fluorophores appear in the form of peaks. In the field of marine and freshwater
biogeochemistry, EEMs have been used for the study of dissolved organic matter (DOM), being a
comprehensive analytical technique with which to characterise a highly complex mixture of organic
compounds (Hudson2006, Fellman2010, Nebbioso2013). Indeed, EEMs have served to advance
scientific knowledge about the ecology and biogeochemistry of DOM in aquatic systems [1,2]. Most
importantly, they have contributed to evidence that some fractions of DOM are highly reactive organic
molecules that are involved in numerous ecosystem processes, such as bacterial uptake [3 5], metal
binding [6,7][1,2][1,2], photoreactivity [8 10] and light attenuation [11]. Overall these findings
suggest the major involvement of DOM in the global carbon cycle [12,13].
Despite the great potential for EEMs to increase knowledge about DOM behaviour in the
environment, their interpretation and statistical treatment remain a challenge [14]. The spectral shapes
of EEMs are complex mixtures of multiple and overlapping independent fluorescence phenomena,
caused by the wide range of organic molecules contained in DOM. As only about 25% of

The Rhetoric Of The Image By Roland Barthes
In The Rhetoric of the Image Roland Barthes utilises an advertisement from Italian food company
Panzini in order to illustrate three types of messages identifiable within an image. He describes these
messages as linguistic , non coded and coded messages. In doing so he identifies how images can hold
significance for readers beyond their literal meaning. This essay aims to utilize this theory by applying
these three messages to a Plunket advertisement in central Wellington. Firstly, one can apply the first
of three messages that Barthes articulates, the linguistic message. The linguistic message can
essentially be described as the textual components of the advertisement (Barthes 155). In this
particular advertisement the linguistic message includes both text and logos. There is a paragraph of
white text at the top stating: Children learn by copying, so growing great kiwi kids starts with being a
great parent. Ask about a Plunket parenting course in your community . Additionally, there are the
words BUILDING BLOCKS in thick white font in the middle of the advertisement, as well as the text
Growing Great Kiwi Kids towards the bottom third of the advertisement. The bottom segment
includes various social media logos and links such as Twitter and Facebook, as well as the Plunket
logo and BNZ logo with principal sponsor alongside it. The linguistic message here is this advert is

When African slaves began to be imported into Brazil, they brought with them their religious
practices, many of which involved invoking the gods through chants or dances. Over time, these Afro
Brazilian religious practices began mingling with Catholic and Protestant influences to create
synthetic religions. Some of the more popular exponents include Candomble, which has a huge
following in urban centers like Rio de Janeiro, and Umbanda.
Spiritism is also one of the significant, although minor, religions in Brazil. Spiritistic practices are
based largely on ancient Amerindian cultures as well as the influence of the African cultures and
customs that were introduced centuries ago, when slaves were brought over to Brazil from the Dark

since they had not been influenced by more structured notions of creation, which hailed from a

Plastic Surgery Ethics Essay
Plastic surgery is a rapidly evolving field spread around the world. Plastic surgery deals with human
appearance and is becoming a more profitable business throughout the years. It is divided into two
sections, reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. An ethical dilemma that corresponds to plastic surgery
is the loss of human values patients encounter once they undergo surgery. Also, individuals that
depend on cosmetic surgery detract from patients that are in urgent need of these procedures. The
replacement of misleading values, pride and, joy through surgery creates unrealistic dreams for
patients. The patient and doctor relationship created under these circumstances is viewed as a

The abuse of plastic surgery over the years has gotten out of control. Due to the high demand for
fillers, laser, and Botox, physicians perform cosmetic procedures that are non surgical with no
training. Society has unofficially banned wrinkles, fat deposits, and sun damaged skin. An ethical
concern for patients and healthcare providers is that these so called problems should be enhanced and
dealt with rather than result in aesthetic surgery. Although body image is important to certain people,
the outer image does not define a human being. The real value of a person cannot be reduced to his/her
appearance, and medicine as an art, should feel the obligation to resist these modern ideologies and
should attempt to help people get a more authentic attitude about themselves. (Mousavi, 2010) If a
person is unhappy with himself or herself, they should rely on a more natural solution. Aesthetic
surgery should only be an option for people that have suffered an accident or born with a deformity.
Having small lips, tiny wrinkles, beauty marks, or dark hair is not a deformity, they re simply things

Mass Media And Culture Essay
It is interesting that Raymond Williams creates a division between high class culture and lower class
culture, suggesting that culture is ordinary, shared and common. If this is the case why does he
emphasise a division in light of this concept? And if we all share a common culture can there be a
division?
It is difficult to understand the term culture. What is culture? Is it a utopian dream, is it a shared group
of interests that bring a community together, or is it just simply a way of life? There are so many
questions surrounding culture and its meaning. Raymond Williams described culture as maps of
meaning through which the world is made intelligible , whether we agree with this definition or not,

But before I discuss Internet culture it is imperative that I decipher the essence of mass culture and
mass media. To understand the term mass , it is important to study Gustave Lebon. Although there
have been many more recent theorists that have discussed the term mass ; including Karl Max, John
Stuart Mills and Mathew Arnold, Lebon s theories on mass have pervaded disputes on the subject ever
since. A quote specifically that is questioned today is his warning that the age we are about to enter
will in truth be the era of crowds ([1895] 1916, p. 3), at a time when working class parties were more
present and when western societies were dealing with the growth of industrialisation and mass
migration to popular cities. His book La psychologie des foules was cited for its treatise to crowds,
however is much more about the advent of mass society in physiological terms. He discusses
contagion, loss of individuality, and regression to a more primitive mental state were his favourite
terms . The reason for the book being described as a treatise for the mass is his connotation of crowd
behaviour within a larger mass. For example Lebon quotes, thousands of isolated individuals may
acquire at certain moments, and under the influence of certain violent emotions such, for example, as a
great national event the characteristics of a psychological crowd . However, the mere coming together
of a crowd is not sufficient enough to cause the disappearance of the conscious

The current experiment investigated different contexts in which the activity of frontal motor regions
(primary motor and premotor cortices) could be associated to the action component of words. Unlike
previous studies, we did not dichotomize words into action and non action categories. Instead, we
created 4 levels of action ranging from very low action (level1) to very high action (level4) using
behavioral data provided by our fMRI participants, with the intention of taking their experiences with
words referents into account. Additionally, the creation of several action levels allowed us to evaluate,
for the first time, whether the activity of the frontal motor system was linearly connected to the action
component of words or not.

That is, the reduction in complexity resulting from the transformation of a more continuous
distribution of word meaning40,41 into a dichotomous variable of action vs. non action could have
become into fertile ground for miscategorized stimuli to drive the observed results. Second, given a
nonlinear association, it is plausible for statistical analyses based on univariate linear models and
dichotomous categories of action vs. non action to misrepresent the role of the frontal motor system in
word meaning processing. That is, linear models could provide a poor fit to the data and therefore
affect the reported results. One solution for this problem involves fitting nonlinear models at the

Analysis Of Confessions Of An Economic Hitman By John Perkins
Throughout the first twelve chapters of the book, Confessions of an economic hitman, by John
Perkins, the author explains what an economic hitman, referred to as an EHM, is, and what being in
this role taught him. According to the author, EHMs had the job of forecast[ing] the effects of
investing billions of dollars in a country (18); the data produced by the EHMs would then be used to
create large profits for the contractors, and to make a handful of wealthy and influential families in the
receiving countries very happy, while assuring the long term financial dependence and therefore the
political loyalty of governments around the world (18). When the author describes Claudine, the

Clinical Outcomes Of Helicobacter Pylori Infection
Abstract
Background: Clinical outcomes of Helicobacter pylori infection may be associated with specific vacA
s1 subtypes.
Aim: This study examined the association between H. pylori vacA s1 subtypes and gastric biopsy
histopathology scores in the northern Canadian Aboriginal communities of Old Crow, YT and Fort
McPherson, NWT.
Methods: Isolates from 56 residents with the H. pylori vacA s1 allele were subtyped using polymerase
chain reaction. Odds ratios were calculated to assess the association between vacA s1 subtype and
histopathology score.
Results: Thirty three isolates typed as vacA s1a, 10 as s1b, 4 as both s1a and s1b and 9 were
untypable. The presence of the vacA s1a allele was associated with increased odds of experiencing

pylori associated gastric pathology.
Introduction
Helicobacter pylori is an important human pathogen that chronically infects the gastric and duodenal
mucosa (1). It affects approximately 50% of the population worldwide, and is associated with multiple
gastric pathologies, including gastritis, peptic ulcer disease (PUD), gastric cancer (GC) and mucosa
associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma (2). While the majority of individuals infected with H.
pylori are asymptomatic, essentially all develop chronic inflammation (3). Among infected
individuals, approximately 10% develop PUD, 1 3% progresses to GC and 0.1% develop MALT
lymphoma (3). Clinical outcomes of long term infection vary, as disease severity is thought to be
related to a combination of host genetics, environmental factors, and genetic heterogeneity of H.
pylori (2). Helicobacter pylori exhibits a much greater genetic diversity than most bacteria, and this is
often attributed to the differences in prevalence and expression of bacterial virulence factors that may
impact the outcome of gastric disease (4). Several virulence genes related to the risk of gastric disease
have been identified, including cagA, cagE, vacA, iceA, and babA2 (2). A large number of studies
have shown that VacA producing H. pylori strains are related to more severe clinical outcomes,
although the genetic mechanism(s) underlying this observed associations is not yet

The United States And The Holocaust
What exactly was the difference? He wondered to himself. And who decided which people wore the
striped pajamas and which people wore the uniforms a quote from The Boy with the Striped Pajamas.
The Holocaust was a genocide, the intentional killing of certain group or ethnicity, that affected the
Jewish community worldwide through sorrow and sympathy of their people; and kibitzers who chose
to watch until under pressure. A perfect example was the United States who stood on the sidelines,
while the horrific events of the Holocaust were occurring. The United States had played a negative
role in the Holocaust due to a lack of aid, immigration, and publication.
During the Holocaust there was a lack of aid from America to those suffering in Europe. President at
the time of the Holocaust, Franklin D. Roosevelt, had been leading a country of antisemitism, meaning
to be against the Jewish. As mention in The Us and the Holocaust Project Group: Antisemitism page
by Lauren Freeman, Antisemitism was habited with in Congress, and the general public of the United
States; which will be further elaborated later in the paper.
By the time the Holocaust had come into play America was already filled with people who had a
prejudice against the Jewish, believing that all Jews were greedy and dishonest, found in the article
The Us and the Holocaust Project Group: Antisemitism. Although full of antisemitism, the U.S. also
had a Jewish supportive community. Those who supported the Jewish believed

Inside Sport By Robert Drane Summary
There was a time when Billie Jean King was always in the news. Robert Drane writes about the
uphills of women s tennis for Inside Sport. Being a respected tennis athlete as a girl in the 1970s was
all but easy, but Billie Jean King demanded the respect she deserved. Drane shows the readers that
King altered the way women s sports were looked at, which led to an even bigger movement in
women s equality. King had always been a huge feminist advocate and Drane writes about her strength
as a player and a person. Using logical facts and King s credibility the article successfully shows how
King changed the course of women s tennis, when it seemed there was no hope.
First, Drane goes on to show the reader that King was highly respected in women s tennis. He states,

Soccer On The East Coast
It has been said that when one gets injured, one never realizes it until you look at the wounded body
part. No statement is more genuine than that. An individual forgets the details of how they got injured.
The if, how, and whys are only noticed later on when you look back and analyze what had occurred.
More often than not, a lot of different things are to blame. Could it be the slip and slide, the angle, or
just a personal mistake? For some reason, I believe it was the first one, and that could explain why I m
scared of slip and slides.
You must be asking yourself what could have possibly happened that led to this erratic fear of slip and
slides?
Soccer on the East coast is an enormous spectacle. Like football in the south and basketball in Indiana,
soccer in the fall is an attraction that closes towns and turns neighboring schools into blood rivals.
Conditioning begins in June, but the real season doesn t start until the third week of August when first

season, as well as team foundations, develop that first week. That first week defines your season
before you complete a pass or attempt a shot.
The first week is unmerciful. Three or four hour practices, two a days; the heat makes you question
your decision to play every minute of every day. That last Friday practice, however, always ends on a
softer note. The team pickup game, ice bath, slip and slide, and a bonfire

The Importance Of Drama Within The Classroom
At the start of the year, all of the smiling classmates bounced in their seat, awaiting the news of the
project to be announced. After the bell chimed throughout the hall, the buzzing sounds of laughter and
faint voices began to fade, patiently waiting to hear the criteria. As my drama teacher explained the
instructions for our final group presentation, all eyes stumbled upon me. One member of each group
had to write a script for a story they wanted to tell, and instantly my group chose me. The idea of it all
caused my heart to pound, and my eyes glanced around the dirty tiled floor nervously. The project was
quite simple; pick a topic, tell a story while combining elements of drama within. Then her voice filled

Each class the teacher spoke to our group about how excited she was to view our project, and every
couple of weeks she wanted to see our progress and how the script was coming along. Those questions
alone made me dread the performance even more. The words flowed out of me while writing the script
but each sentence I wrote, the idea of having to present them out loud haunted my thoughts. There was
a black rain cloud over my writing and I. One crucial element of the true impact of the story is that
ever since I was younger, I ve always had this intense stage fright. That moment when the spotlight
gets casted down on me, everyone s wandering eyes are intentionally watching my every move,
patiently waiting for me to possibly mess up. That s the crucial moment that has such an impact on my
nerves. That s when my palms become uncomfortably clammy and my breath transforms into an
uneven pattern. As I became older, I always thought I d eventually grow out of it. I always hoped I d
become comfortable in my own skin enough to express my thoughts out loud without difficulty and
without the pounding of my heart overwhelming me, but with age my nerves only increased. Writing
was something I held onto tightly, concealed deep near my heart, but now I had to associate it with my
worst fear: a judging audience. I felt a small ball of rage unleash within me because I felt like I was

The Theory Of Assimilation And The American Dream
The theory of Assimilation was introduce in the article of Trucios Haynes and its basically talks about
immigrants coming to America and that they need to be force to give up on their own culture and
assimilate to the American culture. Throughout the reading, I have learned that the theory of
Assimilation has been present in this country for many years and how impactful it can still be. Since
America was built around immigrants, the first people who came in to this country has already
establish a certain life style and whoever would come after them, those immigrants are force to be like
the current W.A.S.P. Assimilation in essence is a concept that the first immigrant s created for forcing
other immigrants to adapt to their own culture and forget their own culture to be an American. If you
choose to not assimilate, then you will have a tougher time in gaining the benefits in living in this
country and chasing down the idea of the American Dream. The first article titled 50 Years Ago,
Immigration Changed in America talks about to deport the illegal and legal immigrants who came to
America. After they are deported, should we as a country build a wall to block people from Mexico
from coming to America Throughout the reading, the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 was

Proper Neuropsychological Assessment Of The Case Of A 19...
The following report will discuss a proper neuropsychological assessment in respect to the literature
for the case of a 19 year old man under investigation for possible shoplifting suspected to have low
intellectual functions. The neuropsychologist has been asked to evaluate the subject´s intellectual
abilities, however, it is important for the clinician to consider that this man has a long story of physical
altercations with possible associated brain injuries.
It is suggested that TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) can damage systems related to functions such as self
regulation, attention, planning, memory, language, initiation, inhibition as well as identifying facial
expressions, tone of voice, and relating them to emotion (Williams, Mcaulifee, Cohen, et al., 2015). It
might equally cause deterioration in mood and behavior, therefore, social aspects of the patient s life
may be affected to the point of presenting non acceptable social behavior. (Williams, et al., 2015) In
the history of Neuropsychology, the best known case of Frontal Lobe lesions interfering with
personality and social behaviour is the case of Phineas Gage, Gage´s brain was pierced by an iron bar
while working, this bar went through the frontal part of his head, as reported by Harlow in 1868; the
man became rude, impatient and temperamental (Kolb Whishaw, 2015).

is because it shows on how the elder sister has the passion of caring for her younger sibling. Her small

He was mainly influenced by the ideas of airpower from the Italian General Douhet. Likewise, he
postulated the potency of airpower and considered as the most decisive element in future wars.
Further, he argued, that airpower would make Army and Naval forces almost superfluous. The United
States, other than Great Britain, had a different perspective of its geopolitical situation. Because of the
two Oceans on either side of their country, felt they could afford to be more complacent about

American airmen had a more distant perspective on bomber aircraft and the use in future wars. But,

According to the American national security guideline bomber aircraft, especially shortly after WWI,
would be employed as a defensive weapon. Mitchell argued, that airpower, by making wars shorter,

the stocks and took the hit when ImClone s value fell. But selling stocks based on inside information
so you re sure you don t lose money in an investment; doesn t that seem like the right thing to do? No
one ever wants to lose money especially in an investment, but avoiding a loss by selling stock the way
Martha Stewart did is considered illegal. Having inside knowledge of a company and using that
knowledge to make moves before the market price changes at that time probably seemed like a great
idea but is profoundly illegal and known as inside trading. Martha Stewart was and is a well known
business woman and at that time served as President, CEO and chairwoman of her publicly traded
company. She was educated and knowledgeable about what is allowed or not allowed as far as selling,
buying and trading stocks. Her understanding of SEC regulations is especially disconcerting since she
had been a part of the board of directors of the New York Stock Exchange. Martha was aware of the
consequences that came with breaking the rules. Not only did she participate in insider trading and
benefited from it but she also tried to cover it up claiming she and her stock broker

The New Ways Of Thinking Influenced The Renaissance
Humanism is derived from the movement that happened from the fourteenth to the sixteenth centuries.
The start point of Humanism is in Italy. It is an important development during the Renaissance.
Because of the terrible Black Death in 14th century. The population of Europeans decreased
extremely. A lot of people died of the Black Death. At the beginning of that time, people thought the
Black Death is God s punishment for living life in sin. People went to Church and hope the
forgiveness of God. However, the wide spread of the Black Death didn t stop. The dead body forced
the people started finding the other new way. Instead of believing in God, people started to think about
science. The scientists did the research and treated the Black Death by more scientific way. People
started thinking about the man himself and explored natural environment by more scientific method.
The new ways of thinking influenced the development of Humanism in art during the Renaissance.
The Renaissance artworks are about the re discovery of ancient Greek and Roman artworks and their
way of life. Humanists rejected the religion concept and not believe in the supernaturalism. They tried
to discover the natural creatures and destiny of man. Artists learned the human beauty from the ancient
Greek and Roman artworks and architectures. They began to find out more ideas about the human
experience, personal independence and social community. They brought the Humanism ideas into
their artworks. Humanism

Life in the 1940s
1940 s When you think of the 1940 s, what comes to your mind? Maybe an image of a time where
everything was boring and nothing interesting was happening. However, this is not the case. It was a
time where people were on the move for a World War, and inventions were being made daily. The 40 s
were a time when the United States was becoming a leader in new technologies to simplify the
country s way of life and to protect its citizens from other countries as well as the people who might
think that they are better than you just because they are white. People in the United States were
starting to invent gadgets to make life easier. In 1945, one of the main inventions was a computer
named ENIAC (Electronic Numerical Integrator And Computer). This was a huge step for the United
States, and it allowed new technology to be made that could not be before. The ENIAC was a giant
computer that stood two stories tall and weighed thirty tons. This super computer was a secret military
project during World War II that was carried out by Jon Mauchly and John Presper Eckert Junior.
ENIAC was invented to speed up the mathematical calculations that were needed to make ballistic
firing tables for the Army and to design atomic weaponry. This super computer could add 5,000
numbers in one second. This might not seem like very fast compared to today s technology, but this
was a 1,000 times faster than any machine at this time. I explained what was to be done and pushed
the button for it to be

Upperman High School Band Analysis
The band is in the stadium. The announcer calls Upperman High School jarring each ear with anxiety.
The band is called to attention in preparation for the score call. The band stands at attention with each
drop of sweat intensifying the setting. Rome wasn t built in a day. The members of the band spend
weeks or even months of preparation for this moment. The key to their preparation is their band area
where they utilize the band room, the practice field, and the trophies. What they do in this band
territory will now decide the next ten seconds of their lives. The band room is the center of the band.
In the band room, the band practices its music for concert band and, occasionally, marching band. The
band also meets here at the beginning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The trophies are the color of gold, and they gleam to gain attention. These feathers in the band s cap
have the ratings and rankings from the competition that they were gained from. Whether it s a good
score or a bad score, the golden shimmer attracts the sight of anyone nearby. If it s a good score, the
trophy says, Good job! Keep it up. But if it s a bad score, the trophy says, You better step it up if you
want to do better next weekend. The trophies are placed right above the band lockers so that the band
sees its motivation every time an instrument is taken out. Moreover, the trophies showcase all of the
toil that the band has endured. Each trophy shows the score and ranking of a competition. Scores are
on a scale of one to five with one being the best. Each competition has many classes with multiple
bands. Bands bring their all to compete against others in their class and get the score of a one. Though
it may seem as if the band is only vying for gold plates, the band is truly after the bragging rights.
After bearing all of the trials, the band receives its trophies. The band reaps the benefits of the blood,
sweat, and tears put into its

Essay on Research Methodology
3. Methodology: 3.1 Introduction: The study for this thesis will be exploratory research using
secondary data collected by the communication agency, MESH Planning. The agency developed an
innovative approach called real time experience tracking , which involves three stages of data
collection. And both qualitative and quantitative data will be collected and used in this context in order
to get an insight of critical incidents. This section will start with a comparison of three possible
methodologies for data collection: ethnography, survey (or interview) and real time experience
tracking. And then sampling and data collection methods will be examined followed by a description
of data analysis. 3.2 Research approach selection: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are much cheaper than ethnography with a greater effectiveness, however, all of these interviews
or surveys were based on the retrospective data, respondents answered the questions by their memory
and the issue may happened for a long time. There could be a great influence on the quality of data
since the ability of respondent to recall information differed from one to another and some incorrect
information often occurred (Baker, 2003). The third approach considered in this study is the real time
experience tracking developed by MESH planning. This is an approach to record 360 degree
touchpoints of brand by respondents in real time. There are three stages of data collection. The first
stage uses the pre online questionnaire to collect information about brand health and relationship
quality. The third stage uses the same questions to ask respondents perception after brand encounters
in order to identify any change. While the second stage for data collection is the most crucial process
in the approach. Respondents are asked to send SMS message to report any brand encounter via
mobile phones. And the online diary also helped to expand these experiences (Willis et al 2010).
Meanwhile, for identifying the CIs, weekly questionnaire will be sent to respondents about the CIs
happened in the past week. The approach offers a holistic view to track customer experience as well as
identifying critical incidences. The real time tracking approach enabled to identify a

The Great Pacific Garbage Patch Essay

The Great Pacific Garbage Patch
Living on this earth is a privilege and unfortunately we sometimes take advantage of it. Stories of
deforestation, air and water pollution really make a person think of just how much our planet is being
harmed. A major concern is water pollution. Water covers at least 70 percent of the planet which
makes our rivers, lakes, and oceans essential. Many of these bodies of water are being polluted and
although they may be out of sight, they eventually help pollution increase. Actions should be made to
stop the pollution of our waters before things get worse. If we want to decrease the amount of
pollution it starts out by increasing the amount of recycling we do. It ... Show more content on

Sunlight does eventually play a part as it breaks plastic down into smaller pieces but that can just
make it worse. The plastic still never goes away it just becomes microscopic. Of the more than 200
billion pounds of plastic the world produces each year, about 10 percent ends up in the ocean. (Earth
Magazine). Most of that plastic eventually sinks, damaging life on the ocean floor. The plastic that
floats ends up in gyres, and settle in massive garbage patches that form there, much like the Pacific
Subtropical Gyre.
Plastic is a very useful material but when in the ocean, it endangers animal life. Small surface debris,
mostly plastic resin pellets are a common piece of marine debris. Because they are so small they can
easily get lost along the way, washing through the water with other plastics and into the sea. Pollution
like this is causing harm to sea animals such as the seabird; the albatross. The albatross scoops its food
from the ocean and without knowing picks up trash along the way. Plastic debris along with other
garbage is then fed to its young mistakenly for food. Of the 500,000 albatross chicks born here each
year, about 200,000 die, mostly from dehydration or starvation. A two year study funded by the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency showed that chicks that died from those causes had twice as much
plastic in their stomachs as those that died for other reasons.

The Latest And Greatest Unique Technologies Essay
Apple has finally announced the new Apple Watch at the Apple Live Event back on September 9th
this year and it s due to be released in early 2015. There has been much speculation as to the design,
functionality and even the name. It was previously referred to as the iWatch and even iOS Watch by
some. This device is the company s first developed technology that is fully wearable.
People today set many new trends when it comes to technology. The emergence of smartphones is also
the product of continuing innovations throughout the years. Nowadays, all major smartphone
manufacturers invest heavily into extensive research and development projects. The goal is to create
the latest and greatest unique technologies. Apples latest attempt at this alongside the iPhone 6 and
iPhone 6 Plus has taken the form of a wearable wristwatch.
The concept of a smart watch is nothing new. An early example of the smart watch was a product
called the Pebble Watch which was released back in 2013. The Pebble Watch allowed users to receive
notifications, view emails, check the weather and display a wide variety of custom information. Just
like the Apple Watch, the Pebble Watch needed to be connected to your smartphone to benefit from
most features. So now lets take a look at the Apple Watch in more detail and evaluate if it really will
be a game changer or simply just another gimmick.
Features
The Apple watch at first glance looks much like your typical wristwatch but with many innovative

Analysis Of Plato s Democratic Government
It is interesting to demonstrate components and elements of Plato s idea of a Democratic government.
Plato s democracy was a governement for the people because all were welcome to participate, if
interested. The government s structure was split into groups including the ekklesia, boule, etc. Today, I
am a part of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS), and organization here at Temple
University. NSCS demonstrates some of the components found in Plato s democratic government.
This paper will examine the connection between Plato s Democratic government and the NSCS and at
Temple.
Plato describes the structural shift from Oligarchy to democracy and NSCS demonstrates that
structural shift ever since I became the president. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The structure includes and Ekklesia and a boule. The Ekklesia also known as the assembly are the
individuals interested in participating. The boule is the selected group who decides what is being
discussed. In NSCS, the general members would be Plato s Ekklesia and the E board would be the
boule. Because we decide what is discussed in our general body meetings. Every other week, myself
and the E board get together and discuss upcoming events, meetings, and volunteering. At the actual
general body meetings, we discuss the topics we ve selected beforehand and open the floor for anyone
to speak. The member has numerous opportunities to voice their opinions and suggestions.
Finally, freedom of speech is an important aspect within the democratic government and in NSCS it is
also important. The democratic government is for the people so it only makes sense that the people
have the freedom to express themselves. According to Plato, Freedom: Surely you d hear a democratic
city say that this is the finest thing it has, so that as a result it is the only city worth living in for
someone c who is by nature free (562 c d). Freedom is considered a privilege to some individuals
because not everyone has the freedom of speech. Moreover, it is important for them to

  • 2. Enneagram Reflection Everyone has their own characteristics that set them apart. The way they act, think, and feel gives them their own individual personality. But what if you could learn exactly what type of person you are? That is what intrigued me when I heard about the Enneagram system. I have taken personality quizzes before, but none were as accurate as the Enneagram. By taking this quiz, I learned more about myself than I realized I knew. The largest components of this questionnaire are the center, wings, and arrows. One s personality is more complex than it seems. Even though I am classified to a particular group, I blend into other types similar to mine. Along with the Enneagram questionnaire, I completed a Learning Styles survey. This survey also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I fully agree with this quote and believe the personality type five describes me to a T. Fives are a part of the thinking center, also known as the head center. As a five, I overanalyze what I am going to do. A big aspect of being a five is to get out of my head and go with the flow. I need to value being present and active. Instead of thinking about what I should do, I need to go out and do it. Another thing fives need to work on is taking risks and speaking up. I am generally a very quiet and conservative person. I weigh out the pros and cons to every situation before coming to a conclusion. Although I like people and am a very friendly individual, I come off as standoffish. I struggle with opening up to others if I don t know them. The wings of a five are four and six. I consider myself a loyal, anxious, and cautious individual. These are characteristics of the six wing that blend over into the five. However, if I had more of a four wing I would be empathetic and self absorbed. With a stronger six wing, I am more interested in sciences and subjects where thinking is involved. The arrows of a five are seven and eight. Fives suddenly become hyperactive and scattered at seven when they are stressed. Sevens contain characteristics that are drastically different than a five. These include being spontaneous and imaginative. However, when moving in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Okonkwo is best known for his manliness and tough inflexible character during the book. Okonkwo is the best fighter in all of Umuofia(He was still young but he had won fame as the greatest wrestler in the nine villages. pg6). If there was a hard place in a rock, it would be Okonkwo but at the end of the book he kills himself. Okonkwo s sense of identity was challenged with the introduction of Western ideas into the ibo culture. Okonkwo started the novel harder than the metal that made the nails, but the cultural collision of the British colonist and Ibo people affected Okonkwo to the point of him killing himself in the end instead of fighting. Ultimately the reasons for Okonkwo s change in sense of identity and how the introduction of Western ideas shaped the meaning of the work as a whole embodied the abandonment of the Ibo people s faith, the British colonist of course, and the lack of understanding between the two very different cultures. ... We see evidence of the British colonist intervening by destruction of Abame, Abame has been wiped out, said Obierika ( 102 ch 15). This evidence supports my claim because it shows the the colonist in a dark crooked light and they ve just showed up. Wto And Its Role Of Globalization WTO and its role in globalization Intro History and development of WTO http://www.wto.org/english/thewto_e/whatis_e/inbrief_e/inbr01_e.htm The World Trade Organization (WTO) was founded in 1995 as a result of the Uruguay Round. The WTO is the successor to the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT). So while it is still young, the multilateral trading system that was originally set up under GATT is well over 50 years old. The system was developed through a series of trade negotiations, or rounds, held under GATT. The goal of WTO is to improve the welfare of the peoples of the member countries . The WTO has a number of principles, which are the foundation of the multilateral trading system. First of all, there are two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because opening markets can be beneficial but also requires adjustment, The WTO agreements allow changes to be introduced gradually by its member countries, through progressive liberalization . Plus, developing countries are usually given longer to fulfill their obligations. The fourth principle is Predictability: through binding and transparency. This encourages investment, creation of job and fair competition (more choice and lower price). This can be achieved through binding arrangement and transparency; promising not to raise a trade barrier; government disclosing their policies and practices publicly within the country or notifying the WTO; regular surveillance of national trade policies. Another principle is Promoting Fair Competition. The WTO is a system of rules dedicated to open, fair and undistorted competition. It discourages unfair practices such as export subsidies and dumping products at below cost to gain market share. The rules on non discrimination MFN and national treatment and most of other WTO regulations are designed to secure fair conditions of trade. Many of the other WTO agreements aim to support fair competition: in agriculture, intellectual property, services. Last principle of the WTO is Encouraging development and economic reform. The WTO system contributes to development as the WTO is paying attentions to developing countries. More than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Monogamy is defined by Merriam Webster as the state or practice of being married to only one person at a time or of having only one sexual partner during a period of time. Alternatively, polyamory is defined as the state or practice of having more than one open romantic relationship at a time. The word polyamory derives from both Greek (poly) and Latin (amory) roots and can be directly translated to mean many loves. This is relevant because it gives a new perspective on how non monogamous relationships can be arranged. The tendencies to rely on deceit or lies to cover up infidelity are no longer an issue. Zipcar is providing people a way to be stewards of creation and allows them to empower people to make a responsible decision with their lives. Zipcar customers must be responsible as they are entrusting them with a huge asset and the people that are well informed seem to have some correlation with being responsible. In order of Zipcar to be successful it s customers do not have to understand how our environment is depleting around us, but because of their focus their idea the company has attracted a lot of environmentally friend people. Zipcar also makes it hard for others to compete with them as they are already branded on saving the environment and convenience. Here are some of things that make Buddhism and Hinduism similar, both believe in reincarnation and practice different kinds of yoga. Another thing that is common between the two is that Ashoka Gautama was a Hindu and he is the founder of Buddhism and his religion still incorporates some of the practices that are from Hinduism. Hare Krishna is a movement that was founded in the U.S. in recent times and they focus their belief on Krishna. The founder of this movement was A.C. Bhaktivedanta and he was told to bring the teachings he learned to the west to spread the word and spark interest to join this movement. Their teachings come primarily from the Bhagavad gita and another text. Another thing that they practice is they view the cow very sacred and are vegetarians just like other Hindus. • 16. Emission-Excitation Matrices INTRODUCTION Emission Excitation Matrices (EEMs) are three dimensional fluorescence data that provide information about the composition of fluorescent chemical mixtures. They constitute optical landscapes that extend over the dimensions of excitation and emission wavelengths {λex λem}, and where fluorophores appear in the form of peaks. In the field of marine and freshwater biogeochemistry, EEMs have been used for the study of dissolved organic matter (DOM), being a comprehensive analytical technique with which to characterise a highly complex mixture of organic compounds (Hudson2006, Fellman2010, Nebbioso2013). Indeed, EEMs have served to advance scientific knowledge about the ecology and biogeochemistry of DOM in aquatic systems [1,2]. Most importantly, they have contributed to evidence that some fractions of DOM are highly reactive organic molecules that are involved in numerous ecosystem processes, such as bacterial uptake [3 5], metal binding [6,7][1,2][1,2], photoreactivity [8 10] and light attenuation [11]. Overall these findings suggest the major involvement of DOM in the global carbon cycle [12,13]. Despite the great potential for EEMs to increase knowledge about DOM behaviour in the environment, their interpretation and statistical treatment remain a challenge [14]. The spectral shapes of EEMs are complex mixtures of multiple and overlapping independent fluorescence phenomena, caused by the wide range of organic molecules contained in DOM. The Rhetoric Of The Image By Roland Barthes In The Rhetoric of the Image Roland Barthes utilises an advertisement from Italian food company Panzini in order to illustrate three types of messages identifiable within an image. He describes these messages as linguistic , non coded and coded messages. In doing so he identifies how images can hold significance for readers beyond their literal meaning. This essay aims to utilize this theory by applying these three messages to a Plunket advertisement in central Wellington. Firstly, one can apply the first of three messages that Barthes articulates, the linguistic message. The linguistic message can essentially be described as the textual components of the advertisement (Barthes 155). In this particular advertisement the linguistic message includes both text and logos. There is a paragraph of white text at the top stating: Children learn by copying, so growing great kiwi kids starts with being a great parent. Ask about a Plunket parenting course in your community . To understand the term mass , it is important to study Gustave Lebon. Although there have been many more recent theorists that have discussed the term mass ; including Karl Max, John Stuart Mills and Mathew Arnold, Lebon s theories on mass have pervaded disputes on the subject ever since. A quote specifically that is questioned today is his warning that the age we are about to enter will in truth be the era of crowds ([1895] 1916, p. 3), at a time when working class parties were more present and when western societies were dealing with the growth of industrialisation and mass migration to popular cities. His book La psychologie des foules was cited for its treatise to crowds, however is much more about the advent of mass society in physiological terms. He discusses contagion, loss of individuality, and regression to a more primitive mental state were his favourite terms . The reason for the book being described as a treatise for the mass is his connotation of crowd behaviour within a larger mass. For example Lebon quotes, thousands of isolated individuals may acquire at certain moments, and under the influence of certain violent emotions such, for example, as a great national event the characteristics of a psychological crowd . The current experiment investigated different contexts in which the activity of frontal motor regions (primary motor and premotor cortices) could be associated to the action component of words. Unlike previous studies, we did not dichotomize words into action and non action categories. Instead, we created 4 levels of action ranging from very low action (level1) to very high action (level4) using behavioral data provided by our fMRI participants, with the intention of taking their experiences with words referents into account. Additionally, the creation of several action levels allowed us to evaluate, for the first time, whether the activity of the frontal motor system was linearly connected to the action component of words or not. That is, the reduction in complexity resulting from the transformation of a more continuous distribution of word meaning40,41 into a dichotomous variable of action vs. non action could have become into fertile ground for miscategorized stimuli to drive the observed results. Second, given a nonlinear association, it is plausible for statistical analyses based on univariate linear models and dichotomous categories of action vs. non action to misrepresent the role of the frontal motor system in word meaning processing. That is, linear models could provide a poor fit to the data and therefore affect the reported results. One solution for this problem involves fitting nonlinear models at the univariate level, though this alternative could provide results that are difficult to interpret. A more promising alternative involves the use of multivariate like Multivariate Pattern Analysis42 or Representational Similarity Analysis43, as these techniques could provide valuable insights into existing and novel data by looking at the joint information present across groups of voxels. Although the specific properties and consequences of this nonlinear association must be addressed by future studies, our results shed some light on the connection between frontal motor activity and the action ... Introduction Helicobacter pylori is an important human pathogen that chronically infects the gastric and duodenal mucosa (1). It affects approximately 50% of the population worldwide, and is associated with multiple gastric pathologies, including gastritis, peptic ulcer disease (PUD), gastric cancer (GC) and mucosa associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma (2). While the majority of individuals infected with H. pylori are asymptomatic, essentially all develop chronic inflammation (3). Among infected individuals, approximately 10% develop PUD, 1 3% progresses to GC and 0.1% develop MALT lymphoma (3). Clinical outcomes of long term infection vary, as disease severity is thought to be related to a combination of host genetics, environmental factors, and genetic heterogeneity of H. pylori (2). Helicobacter pylori exhibits a much greater genetic diversity than most bacteria, and this is often attributed to the differences in prevalence and expression of bacterial virulence factors that may impact the outcome of gastric disease (4). Several virulence genes related to the risk of gastric disease have been identified, including cagA, cagE, vacA, iceA, and babA2 (2). A large number of studies have shown that VacA producing H. pylori strains are related to more severe clinical outcomes, although the genetic mechanism(s) underlying this observed associations is not yet ... And who decided which people wore the striped pajamas and which people wore the uniforms a quote from The Boy with the Striped Pajamas. The Holocaust was a genocide, the intentional killing of certain group or ethnicity, that affected the Jewish community worldwide through sorrow and sympathy of their people; and kibitzers who chose to watch until under pressure. A perfect example was the United States who stood on the sidelines, while the horrific events of the Holocaust were occurring. The United States had played a negative role in the Holocaust due to a lack of aid, immigration, and publication. During the Holocaust there was a lack of aid from America to those suffering in Europe. President at the time of the Holocaust, Franklin D. As mention in The Us and the Holocaust Project Group: Antisemitism page by Lauren Freeman, Antisemitism was habited with in Congress, and the general public of the United States; which will be further elaborated later in the paper. However, this is not the case. It was a time where people were on the move for a World War, and inventions were being made daily. The 40 s were a time when the United States was becoming a leader in new technologies to simplify the country s way of life and to protect its citizens from other countries as well as the people who might think that they are better than you just because they are white. People in the United States were starting to invent gadgets to make life easier. In 1945, one of the main inventions was a computer named ENIAC (Electronic Numerical Integrator And Computer). This was a huge step for the United States, and it allowed new technology to be made that could not be before. The ENIAC was a giant computer that stood two stories tall and weighed thirty tons. This super computer was a secret military project during World War II that was carried out by Jon Mauchly and John Presper Eckert Junior. ENIAC was invented to speed up the mathematical calculations that were needed to make ballistic firing tables for the Army and to design atomic weaponry. This super computer could add 5,000 numbers in one second. This might not seem like very fast compared to today s technology, but this was a 1,000 times faster than any machine at this time. The agency developed an innovative approach called real time experience tracking , which involves three stages of data collection. And both qualitative and quantitative data will be collected and used in this context in order to get an insight of critical incidents. This section will start with a comparison of three possible methodologies for data collection: ethnography, survey (or interview) and real time experience tracking. They are much cheaper than ethnography with a greater effectiveness, however, all of these interviews or surveys were based on the retrospective data, respondents answered the questions by their memory and the issue may happened for a long time. There could be a great influence on the quality of data since the ability of respondent to recall information differed from one to another and some incorrect information often occurred (Baker, 2003). The third approach considered in this study is the real time experience tracking developed by MESH planning. This is an approach to record 360 degree touchpoints of brand by respondents in real time. There are three stages of data collection. The first stage uses the pre online questionnaire to collect information about brand health and relationship quality. The third stage uses the same questions to ask respondents perception after brand encounters in order to identify any change. While the second stage for data collection is the most crucial process in the approach. Respondents are asked to send SMS message to report any brand encounter via mobile phones. And the online diary also helped to expand these experiences (Willis et al 2010). Meanwhile, for identifying the CIs, weekly questionnaire will be sent to respondents about the CIs happened in the past week. The approach offers a holistic view to track customer experience as well as identifying critical incidences. The real time tracking approach enabled to identify a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Great Pacific Garbage Patch Essay Alex Ibarra ENG 150 274 December 12, 2012 The Great Pacific Garbage Patch Living on this earth is a privilege and unfortunately we sometimes take advantage of it. Stories of deforestation, air and water pollution really make a person think of just how much our planet is being harmed. A major concern is water pollution. Water covers at least 70 percent of the planet which makes our rivers, lakes, and oceans essential. Many of these bodies of water are being polluted and although they may be out of sight, they eventually help pollution increase. Actions should be made to stop the pollution of our waters before things get worse. If we want to decrease the amount of pollution it starts out by increasing the amount of recycling we do. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sunlight does eventually play a part as it breaks plastic down into smaller pieces but that can just make it worse. The plastic still never goes away it just becomes microscopic. Of the more than 200 billion pounds of plastic the world produces each year, about 10 percent ends up in the ocean. (Earth Magazine). Most of that plastic eventually sinks, damaging life on the ocean floor. The plastic that floats ends up in gyres, and settle in massive garbage patches that form there, much like the Pacific Subtropical Gyre. Plastic is a very useful material but when in the ocean, it endangers animal life. Small surface debris, mostly plastic resin pellets are a common piece of marine debris. Because they are so small they can easily get lost along the way, washing through the water with other plastics and into the sea. Pollution like this is causing harm to sea animals such as the seabird; the albatross. The albatross scoops its food from the ocean and without knowing picks up trash along the way. Plastic debris along with other garbage is then fed to its young mistakenly for food. Of the 500,000 albatross chicks born here each year, about 200,000 die, mostly from dehydration or starvation. A two year study funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency showed that chicks that died from those causes had twice as much plastic in their stomachs as those that died for other reasons. ... The democratic government is for the people so it only makes sense that the people have the freedom to express themselves. According to Plato, Freedom: Surely you d hear a democratic city say that this is the finest thing it has, so that as a result it is the only city worth living in for someone c who is by nature free (562 c d).
