Gold Rush In California
Thomas Fuller once said we never know the worth of water till the well is dry (Fuller). As a species
we need water to cook, clean, and most importantly live. With water being a natural resource overuse
and misuses of it can cause its supply to rapidly dwindle down, and that s exactly what s happening in
California right now. California s water comes a married of places such as aquifers, groundwater,
surface water, rivers, reservoirs, dams and irrigation systems where 80% of that water goes towards
agriculture and 20% to urban/residential use. California s water supply is so substandard that the state
can t even say their predicament is a drought, but it can be classified as a crisis. And to add insult to
injury the states infrastructure has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1906 President Roosevelt had granted the city a permit to divert water from the Owens River Valley
[which was a fairly new] reservoir [located] in the San Fernando Valley (Wells and Blake). That
permit led to behind the scene meetings with the city s mayor and other leading LA capitalists where
they were using the water from the San Fernando Valley for personal gain and to fatten their wallets
by [bolstering] real estate speculation and [irrigating] vast new acreage of farmland (Wells and Blake).
Los Angles wasn t the only city in the state where convoluted dealings were happening, in San
Francisco for thirty years capitalist were redirecting water from the Tuolumne River. In addition to
that for ten years naturalist John Muir protested against the states choice to the eradication of the
Hetch Hetchy valley. Muir s efforts were for not because in 1913 President Wilson signed the Raker
Act which permitted dam construction. The Raker Act did disclose that selling any electrical power
that was generated from the dam to any corporation or individual (Wells and Blake) was against the
law, and forgoing the law most of the power that the dam did generate was sold to the utilities
company of Pacific Gas and Electric (PG E). And by the end of the 1940 s, San Francisco was selling

Analysis Of Saladin And The Treaty Of Ramla
Saladin was one of the most prominent figures in the crusading years especially from 1173 1193. He
had a huge influence over the history of the Middle East, from his rise to power under Nur ed Din to
becoming one of the most influential figures in crusading history. In 1187 when his victory at the
Battle of Hattin showed how far he had unified the Islamic response to the crusaders and this is why
when he captured Jerusalem the Franks efforts during the Third Crusade were futile due to Saladin s
power. He was generous by nature according to many with Philips stating Crusaders praised him for
his generosity and the Treaty of Ramla shows how he could be generous, but also how he used
situations to his advantage as he allowed safe passage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This view could again be because William of Tyre was a Frank and Saladin was the leader of the
Muslim forces who the Franks were fighting against and meant he was bound to be biased towards
Saladin. The idea of Saladin getting his power through disputed tactics opposed to sheer power and
strength is also shown in Source 3, by Richard de Templo who was also a Frank; he states by an act of
treachery, he put to death Molanus and Sewar, and thus gained for himself the sovereignty of Egypt.
This shows how Templo feels Saladin used treachery to gain power, just like William of Tyre in
Source 1. Both sources claim Saladin used questionable methods in order to achieve his rise to power.
Their accounts would have been for other Christians to read, this may explain why they are negative
towards Saladin as they would have seen Saladin as an enemy and a growing force in the Muslim
world. Both have heavy elements of bias and thus could be unreliable as a result. Modern historians
are fairer to Saladin, for example, Morgan states his rise to power was one of his biggest achievements
and suggests that during more than two decades of intensive military and political significance
including his rise to power. 2 This shows how just in 20 years Saladin had substantial amounts of skill
in politics and this helped

How to Find the Best Forex Signals Provider Finding a good Forex signals provider can help ensure
your success as a forex trader. Forex signals tell the trader whether they should open or close a
position in a particular currency pair based on either technical or fundamental analysis methods. While
you can find trading signals available free, many providers offer their signals on a paid subscription
basis. But how do you find the best provider to ensure that you are getting the best signals?  What is
their track record? Virtually every signals provider will brag about their outstanding results, making it

around to even trading! Also, and probably most obviously, again you might have already guessed, all
the analysis of this historical data as well as all the constant Forex market monitoring takes time as
well and the chance of making a timely trade are extremely slim. So these Forex signal services
provide traders with highly accurate and timely signals that have be derived from trend analysis,
market monitoring, experience and expertise. The Value of using signals received from Forex signal
providers: The value of subscribing to a Forex signal provider varies for each trader. Even experienced
traders subscribe to these signal providers in order to have additional data to compare so that they can
assess the best trade for them to make and so minimize their chance of making a losing trade, thus
increasing their overall success rate and of course increase their profits. If you are a newbie trader
considering using these signal service providers and are wondering if they are worth the investment I
would have to say that they really are. If even the experienced Forex traders are exploiting the
expertise of these forex signal providers so that it hugely increases their chances of making the right
trades and avoiding losses then it would make a lot of sense that this would also do the same

Revegetation Project
Background: Exclosure installation is a frequently used passive restoration tactic in disturbed riparian
areas. While this method is effective at aiding graminoid recovery by removing grazing from wild and
domesticated ungulates as a disturbance, recovery of Salix spp. as well as other woody species
requires active intervention(Hough Snee et al. 2013). Much of the literature surrounding the use of
livestock exclosures has focused on the effects of removal in a passive restoration context as well as
highlighting the degrading effects of grazing and advocating for its elimination or minimization on
public lands (Sarr 2002). Little research has been done to explore strategies for restoration of woody
riparian species on active pastoral land ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
10 revegetation plots were established in the Spring of 2017 by students from Colorado State
University. The objectives of this study are to: 1) better inform the location of future revegetation
plots, 2) explore the dynamics of competition from grasses and grass likes in order to better inform
future treatments on revegetation plots, and 3) to explore the survivability of multiple woody riparian
species across treatment types in order to inform species selection on future revegetation plots.
Hypotheses/Questions: The primary question of this study is where can revegetation plots best be
located relative to grazing rotations? Of interest is: How is the rate of planting success (multiyear
survival) affected by placement in recently grazed systems versus ungrazed (rested) systems? How is
primary and secondary growth affected by placement of plantings in grazed versus ungrazed
systems/can grazing be utilized to reduce competition to woody riparian species from riparian grasses?
It is predicted that: Relative to unexclosed plots, survival rates will be higher with grazing exclusion
owing to reduced herbivory from livestock; Survival rates will be higher within grazed plots owing to
reduced resource competition from riparian grasses; Growth rates will be higher within grazed plots
due to greater root establishment and less root space competition. Methods: A total of 3

Bruno Bettelheim s Fairy Tale Insight Essay
The birth of fairy tales is many times unknown, but their reputations have always remained the same.
These tales not only attract children with their wondrous lands and magical charm, but they captivate
the child by involving relatable characters with recognizable problems. While these stories provide
mind churning imagination, the lesson they provide does not cease to exist when the book is closed.
Bruno Bettelheim, the author of Uses of Enchantment, has constructed an evaluation that fairy tale s
offer insight to the child s psychological life. He believes such literature depicts underline meaning to
ways in which the child develops and deals with real life conflicts. Undertaking such a strong
controversial topic for the first time, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite this statement s broadness, it remains true for the sole fact that children do not have much
comprehensible knowledge of most subjects at an adolescent age. Bettelheim implies his words
though, as if children have understanding of many things, but fairy tales being the most intelligible to
them. Bettelheim also makes unexplainable assumptions about the psyche of a child. He compares
their mind more to the developed adult who knows how to cope with struggles of society rather than
viewing the child as the undeveloped innocent mind that it is. Fairy tales are harmless to a child while
it may regress an adult. Bettelheim fails to recognize the gap of minds (95). He also falls short of
realizing that even though he is trying to defend the child and the way their mind works, Bettelheim
still thinks and reacts like an adult and cannot place himself in the child s thinking position but only
observe them.
Another aid in the justification that children may not always find an emphasized meaning to a fairy
tale is the idea that children begin in a largely animistic world and only slowly learn the art of abstract
thinking (95). The fact that the books offer more than just a beginning, middle, and end solution to a
story for children has been disregarded. Rarely are children attentive to the story itself, but more
intrigued with the illustrations and voice of the story teller. Books are generally read to children before
bedtime to calm them and offer a time to

Positive And Negative Effects Of Censorship In Society
Censorship is the suppression, alteration, or prohibition of any parts of books, films, news, music, etc.
that are considered obscene, politically unacceptable, or a threat to security. Censorship is an action
that has been performed for many years on several subjects of the world, and it is still happening
today. Although censorship is an action occurred on many subjects, music is one of the biggest
censorship problems in today s world. Music can have both positive and negative effects on a person
in society. Either way, music shapes everyday lives of people around the world. Censorship of music
is crucial in today s society for protecting moral values, little children, and keeping music that has bad
influences on others out of society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Protecting the young people in today s society is important because they are the future, if they are
raised right, it will be carried on to their kids and so on. Censorship of music in the United States dates
back to the 1800 s after the Civil War when people in the south were banned from singing confederate
songs. And censorship of music is still happening today. With music uncensored, little kids and
adolescents are likely to think that everything they hear in the music they listen to is acceptable in
today s society. Many songs in today s society mention use of drugs, alcohol, sex, violence, cursing,
and mistreatment of others. If people of today s society want our future generations to be fine with
these traits and acceptable with wrong things happening in our world, vote for no censorship.
Listening to society s songs uncensored will influence kids to be active in violence, drugs, alcohol,
and other disrespectful activities at a younger age. This will impact our world to continue to roll down
hill in the act of violence and war. If uncensorship impacts the world, our future generations will have
no morals, everything will be ok. We will work ourselves to a Fahrenheit 451 society. Suicide, not

The Water Systems At Bulls Creek, Wild Basin, And Mckinney...
Our study determined how detrimental pet activity is on the environment, more specifically the water
systems at Bulls Creek, Wild Basin, and McKinney Falls. My hypothesis was the if there is human
and pet activity near water ways, there will be an increase in algae boom and chlorophyll a
concentration because bacteria body material, and feces of the dog affects the water s health. Our
results did not agree with our hypothesis because Chlorophyll a concentration was higher at
McKinney Falls, where there was the most pet activity, and lower at Bulls Creek, even though pets
were allowed also. Additionally, the Wild Basin, where there were no pets allowed, had samples with
an unexpectedly high chlorophyll a concentration compared to the samples from Bulls Creek. Other
factors including canopy cover, and urban runoff could have also altered water quality.
I infer that the water quality was affected more by other factors. The two sites with about the same
amount of human activity were McKinney Falls State Park and Bulls Creek. On the other hand, Wild
Basin swimming is not allowed. Our results showed that the order from greatest to least amount of
nitrate and phosphorous concentration was Bulls Creek, McKinney Falls, and Wild Basin at the
lowest. Hence, because Bulls Creek was had the high amounts of human activity and nitrate and
phosphorous levels, this relates
Moreover, urban runoff highest at Bulls Creek, which has parking lots, highways, and buildings

Basic Instructions For Knitting All Animals
Basic Instructions for Knitting All Animals
Heads and Tails
No matter which animal you re making, the basic leg and body patterns and assembly instructions are
the same. You ll find these patterns and instructions on the next pages of this document.
The head, tail, and details are what make each animal distinct and different. These patterns and
instructions as well as optional changes for the legs and bodies are found in the specific animal
instruction pages in a separate document.
Materials and Tools
The great thing about making these animals is that you re free to use whatever colors and sizes of yarn
that you already have on hand, or that fit the needles you already own. Larger yarns and needles make
larger animals.
There are only two rules regarding the materials and tools you should use:
 Use a similar weight of yarn for the entire animal.
 Use knitting needles at least two sizes smaller than those recommended for the yarn you want to
use. This makes the stitches tighter so they don t stretch and show the stuffing.
Basics
The general instructions for all animals are:
 Work in stockinette stitch (knit on the right side and purl on the wrong side) unless otherwise noted.
 Patterns show only rows with increases, decreases, or color changes. When a row isn t shown on a
pattern, continue in stockinette stitch without any changes from the previous row.
 When casting on and binding off, leave enough yarn to sew seams with later.
 Head, tail, and detail

Possible, but probably not yet.

This is the part where we learn to become an independent calligraphy that is perfectly capable of
coaching self only. We know exactly what a beautiful calligraphy piece is like and how to create it
ourselves.

Should Child Soldiers Be Granted Amnesty Essay
Child soldiers should be granted amnesty. The reason child soldiers should be considered as victims
are because they are forced into labor, drugged, and threatened into service. Many of these child
soldiers, after being rescued and rehabilitated, are able to be adopted into loving families and lead
normal lives. However, those who are sent back to where they became child soldiers will surely
commit those crimes again.
The first reason that child soldiers should be considered as victims are that they are drugged. In many
cases, after the child is taken away from their family, the warlords and their older soldiers will give the
children drugs such as cocaine, marijuana and narcotics to make them more obedient. In the case of a
boy named Ishmael Beah, he was forced into service by government soldiers through threats, cocaine

Films have evolved tremendously over the course of time, especially within these past few decades.
Technology and advancements have played a huge part in how films are now created. This essay will
discuss how the Genre, Horror, has changed and evolved over time, as well as discuss the comparison
of early and later horror films. Additionally, this essay will discuss how the development in
technology and social ideologies have effected film content and production. The largest difference
between early and later horror films, is how the film goes about capturing its audience. An example of
this, is the pacing of the movie. A psychologist at Cornell University, James Cutting who studied the

The Effects of Vladimir Lenin on Russia
Weak and unstable in its revolution and a battle on the Eastern Front, Communism weeded its way
into Russia and changed the lives of millions of people. Under the influence of Lenin and his
principles events such as the Red Terror, overall famine, and slave labor camps became the country s
reality. Russia participation in the war may have been stopped, but the consequences were much
greater. However, this could have never happened without Germany s interference in the February

provisional government out of office. The effects Communism had on ... Show more content on

To the Bolsheviks disappointment, the new government kept Russian involvement in The Great War
and the two front war stayed persistent for Germany. With Lenin seeking passage into Russia and the
government showing no intention of letting him, it wasn t until Germany s financial support that he
able to sneak into the country via train.
The effects that Lenin s arrival first had on the Bolsheviks party began with the weakening of the
provisional government, primarily ending Russia s fight in the war. Lenin had been gathering
supporters since the 1890s with those apart of the forces in the war, alongside other supporters,
travelling worldwide and spreading his word of Marxist ideals and a Russia that was no longer
wrapped up in World War One. It wasn t long before he garnered enough manpower to seize control
and caused a great deal of uproar when he had turned the Russian Army against the Russian
provisional government to completely wash Prime Minister Kerensky out. After seizing railroad
stations, telegraph lines, and government offices, and subsequently sending out the people elected
provisional government, Lenin was able to intimidate the elected government out of office and have
control.
But the people were upset, their votes for Kerensky were ignored and it would only be the beginning
for more strife. Once in office, he sought to end the conflict with Germany and achieved this through

Thrombocythemia Research Paper
Essential Thromboycythemia, also sometimes referred to as idiopathic thrombocythemia, essential
thrombocytosis and ET, is a rare blood disorder. Those affected with this disorder produce too many
blood platelets. Platelets also known as thrombocytes are colorless blood cells that aide in the stopping
of bleeding when an injury has occurred. While the platelet counts in a person with ET are high the
red and white blood cell counts of those individuals are generally normal. Occasionally one might
have a slightly elevated number of white blood cells too. Often times symptoms of thrombocythemia
will become apparent when a blood clot forms somewhere in the body. Increased number of platelets
in the blood make the propensity to form a blood clot a huge risk. Symptoms of essential
thrombocythemia are largely based on where a clot may have formed in the body. Some symptoms
include but are not limited to: fatigue, headache, feelings of being lightheaded, noticeable changes in
eyesight clarity, dizziness, chest pain, erythromelagia (redness, throbbing, or burnig in the hands and

Essay about Amazing Grace
Amazing Grace is not a good movie, it is a great movie. Films on History can be lengthy and tedious,
but that sure is not the case in this fascinating movie about the famous abolitionist William
Wilberforce, who was responsible for steering anti slave trade legislation through the British
parliament. Contrary to what its title suggests, Amazing Grace isn t really about the inauguration of
the Christian hymn. Set in the 18th century England, it focuses on William s political career to abolish
the slave trade by arguing against it on the floor of the House of Commons, which placed him at odds
with some of the most powerful men of the time. William is a motivated man with one purpose;
endeavoring to terminate slavery in the empire. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At this point, he is debating whether he should go into the ministry and abandon a political career
altogether. His friend William Pitt tries to convince him not to, and tells Wilberforce of his
magnificent plan to become prime minister and that he wants Wilberforce there with him. Pitt, still
trying to convince Wilberforce to stay in Parliament brings a group of people over to Wilberforce s
house for dinner. While eating, one of the men places a set of chains on the table and begins to explain
how slaves are transported in ships. A former slave, Oloudah Equiano, explains the process and shows
Wilberforce the branding mark on his chest he got when he was sold. They tell Wilberforce that they
need someone to help them to oppose the trade.
John Newton, an elderly priest, served as captain of a slave ship who realized what he was doing was
wrong. He then wrote a song to God to free him from the sin of his wrong doing in his correlation
with the slave trade; this song was called Amazing Grace. Newton acts as indefinite motivation for
Wilberforce to continue his anti slave movement.
Parliament becomes impossible to persuade. There are so many excuses set fourth by the Parliament
explaining what effects the lack of trade will cause to the people of the city, as well as many
industries. Even with the research Wilberforce gathers and presents to the Parliament, including an
autobiography written by his friend/former slave Equiano, but still not one thing happens.

Society changed what the people thought, while also lying to them about what the people believed.
They fed the people these lies that books were dangerous and that having knowledge would corrupt
their minds. The firefighters attacked those who had books and burned their houses down because
they thought it was the right thing to do. Society has changed them so much that they do not
acknowledge the fact that what they were doing was wrong. The main character, Montag, however
realized that burning those houses down was a wrong thing to do. He found out that society has kept
them from gaining all this knowledge from books and wanted to change what they have done.
However, society does not want to change what they have already built so they will eliminate those
who will interfere with the change of society. This shows readers how society has control of their

Budgeting and Compliance Issues in Healthcare
Budgeting and Compliance Budgeting and compliance issues are very important to healthcare.
Budgeting ensures the quality of care given to patients, what technologies the hospital has available,
and how staff gets paid, determining raises and benefits. Waste of time and supplies are damaging to
the budget. Compliance issues are what determine the standards of care given to patients. They also
set standards for safety of both patients and staff. Non compliance can cause fines for the facility and
loss of accreditation, which in turn causes losses of reimbursements from Medicare, Medicaid, and
insurance. Safety issues can cause people to get hurt and, in turn, cause lawsuits for individuals and
the organization. The cost of lawsuits and employee injuries can be very damaging to a budget.
Healthcare workers also stand the chance of consequences in noncompliance issues. Fines, legal
consequences, termination, and lose of professional licenses can occur. Both operational and capital
budgets are made up by the CFO, Chief Financial Officer, and approved by the CEO, Chief Executive
Officer, and the Board of Directors. (Operational Review of the Health Care Corporation of St Johns,
2002) The operational budget is based on projected costs, such as staff, supplies, administration, and
technology costs, and projected revenue from patient services and investments. They are usually made
up for the organization s fiscal year. The capital budget is a long term budget that is based on

A Midsummer Night s Dream
Love, before we can talk about it we must define it; then we can dissect it and reference it. Love is
defined in the dictionary as an intense feeling of deep affection. Throughout several of Shakespeare s
plays he speaks about love. It is a common theme throughout Shakespeare s plays, both comedies and
tragedies, and we can see that Shakespeare is infatuated with love. Shakespeare and I, though poles
apart, raised in different times, places, and even of different genders have one thing in common; we
both seem to be hopeless romantics. In Shakespeare s plays love seems like a very obtainable reality,
love conquers all if you believe in it and fight for it. This seems to go against societal structure in a
time where marriages were arranged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The couple has to overcome this problem to get what they want. Love plays a significant part in
human life, these characters were made to show how love influences them, how they live and become
better for it. To me it seems as though Shakespeare truly believes in love but not love without flaws. It
seems as though the flaws themselves can make love stronger or break love. It is hard to imagine that
someone could write so many stories and plays without a real definition of love or even without
inspiration. Richard II and Richard III both have pros and cons, but more cons than pros. When
Shakespeare wrote about these two kings it seems that in his mind his was writing about the negative
effects and attributes about being a king. King Richard II was an immature, adolescent acting,
irresponsible, neglectful king to say the least. As time and time again Richard the second proves his
incompetence, for instance, when Bolingbroke and Mowbray are in a disagreement, and point fingers
about the death of Bolingbroke s Uncle. They get so angry they throw down their hats to suggest they
want to duel. The king asks them to settle dispute, but they continue to bicker and so King Richard
sets a time and place for this duel to give the illusion that he is in control when he clearly is not and
just as they are about to duel, the king, to show his power, then exiles them both and they beg him not

Health Care Delivery Needs Provide Clinical Nurse...
Unpredictable care delivery needs provide clinical nurse specialists with unique and interesting daily
responsibilities. The role is the ideal career for nursing professionals who enjoy variety and challenge.
Due to their enhanced skill sets and responsibilities, clinical nurse specialists make significant impacts
on caregiving. Nursing professionals choosing this career shape organizational policies and
procedures, and for half a century have led the caregiving community through many innovations.
Historically, the medical community made little effort to distinguish the clinical nurse specialist and
nurse practitioner role. However, society s reliance on nurse practitioners to fill the United States
physician shortage now requires state boards to delineate the disciplines for regulatory reasons.
No Two Days Are the Same
Clinical nurse specialists (CNSs) typically perform varying tasks each day. [1] Some begin their day
reviewing calls from clients. Throughout the day, they arrange patient prescriptions and consult with
patients. At times, CNSs make hospital stay arrangements and visit clients to check on their condition
or encourage them before complex surgeries.
Clinical nurse specialists also attend to client families by providing support and relaying patient status
updates. They meet with consultants on behalf of patients to determine potential action plans. CNSs
also review patient tests and historical vital statistics to monitor client conditions. Using this

Consequences Of The European Age Of Exploration
The motives, attitudes, and consequences of the European age of exploration and conquest differed
from place to place across Europe, starting from the want for power, ending with many consequences,
both good and bad, and many mixed views and attitudes to exploration. The European age of
Exploration started for a large variety of reasons: to find a sea route to the spices of Asia, to create and
control a greater empire, to expand their knowledge of the world, to spread their religion, and to find
different precious metals and stones. A great majority of Europe was encouraged by this age and
supported the action of exploration. Isabella and Ferdinand of Spain are a great example of being
motivated by the idea of power. They wanted their country to grow and become a bigger empire,
which is supported by their promises to Christopher Columbus (Doc 1). These promises encouraged
Columbus to start exploring the world, and he eventually came across the New World. Here his
religious motivations moved him to try and convert any Indian natives to Christianity and believed
that for him to do this, he must trade with them in peace. However, this peace did not last very long
and ended in a large disagreements and hostility between the two (Doc 2). Another motivation of the
Spanish was said by Queen Isabella, before her death when she said, Our principal intention, in
soliciting from Pope Alexander VI the concession of the lands discovered and to be discovered was to
convert their peoples to our holy Catholic faith... (Doc 4). Her statement confirmed that her main
motive for exploration was to spread her Catholic faith. This motivation influenced the positive views
of the common people. They viewed the New World as a new start to their life and that it offers new
opportunities to them (Doc 3). The different motivations of exploration lead to different attitudes
towards the action, some positive, thinking that exploration was beneficial, and some negative,
thinking that the treatment of the Native Americans were too unfair. Bartolome de las Casas, an ex
conquistador, who converted to a monk, had different views of the motives of the Spanish. He viewed
Isabella and Ferdinand s motives as greedy and that the

The Brigance Diagnostic Inventory Of Early Development II
The Brigance Diagnostic Inventory of Early Development II was written by Albert H. Brigance
Frances Page Gloscoe. The IED II was published by Curriculum Associates, Inc. in 1978 2004. The
test is administered individually with the age range of birth 7 years old. This test was created to
monitor a child s development. Because it was not a high stakes test, there was more room for error.
The IED II was translated into Spanish. Spanish tests were given to 8.6% of participants but since
scores were never compared to the English version of the test, there is no confirmation of reliability or
validity (Davis pg 9). Also, the Spanish version of the test is not publicly available. The purpose of the
Brigance Diagnostic IED II is to determine readiness for school, track developmental progress,
provide a range of scores needed for documenting eligibility for special education services, and enable
a comparison of children s skills within and across developmental domains in order to view strengths
and weaknesses and to determine entry points for instruction (Davis 1). It also helps in assisting with
program evaluation. The subtests in the IED II include 11 areas of development. These areas include
preambulatory motor skills, gross motor skills, fine motor, self help skills, speech and language skills,
general knowledge/comprehension, social emotional development, readiness, basic reading skills,
basic math for criterion referenced and manuscript writing (Davis pg 2). The

Informative Essay On Coral Reefs
In the news reporters often talk about the effects of global warming as if they are anywhere from five
to one hundred years off in the future. Those dangers like unpredictable and catastrophic weather
patterns may not pose a major threat to human populations yet. However, for the inhabitants of earth s
coral reefs, the planet s constant warming immediately endangers thousands of species. While coral
reefs occupy only a small fraction of the ocean s floor, they account for roughly one fourth of the
world s marine life. Coral itself, which in large part comprises coral reefs is made up of thousands of
tiny polyps that cling together and secrete a hard outer coating binding the individual polyps together
(Jaap, 212 213). Generally coral make up the vast majority of all reefs, but soft bodied organisms like
anemones litter the sea bed as well. Coral reefs seemingly eternal balance with man is now in
jeopardy, as small things like clownfish infertility and massive coral population loss begin to
snowball, eventually leading to human casualties. These vibrant structures made up of millions of
years of development do not face potential threats from global warming. The existing threats are
imminent.
As mentioned, sea anemones accompany coral on the bottom of the earth s enormous seas. While this
may be true, anatomically they are greatly different from hard bodied corals. They cling to rocks on
the seabed using the bottom of their bodies, Their pedal disc, which functions a lot

The Effect Of Substrate Concentration Of Hydrogen Peroxide...
The effect of varying the substrate concentration of hydrogen peroxide on the rate of enzyme activity
of catalase from potato peel.
Aysha Shahimi, and Jianyi Liang
Department of Biology, Glebe Collegiate Institute. Ottawa, Ontario
Abstract:
The purpose of this lab was to study the effect of varying the substrate concentration of Hydrogen
peroxide (H2O2) on the rate of peeled potato catalase enzyme activity, on the decomposition of H2O2.
This experiment was carried out by diluting the 6% H2O2 with distilled water to decrease the
concentration, and then placed in a test tube. A small piece of filler paper disc was coated with the
enzyme before it was submerged to the bottom of the substrate hydrogen peroxide solution. The stop
timer was started immediately when the filter paper disc touched the bottom and the timer was
stopped when the filter paper reached the surface. The results of the experiment showed a linear
correlation between concentration of the substrate and the rate of enzyme activity. Overall, as the
concentration of H2O2 was decreased, the rate of reaction had decreased.
Introduction:
This experiment was used to determine the effect of varying concentration of hydrogen peroxide on
the rate of enzyme activity. This was a decomposition reaction of hydrogen peroxide into water and
oxygen gas. The hypothesis of this reaction is that, the rate of reaction will decrease with the decrease
of hydrogen peroxide concentration.
Enzymes are proteins that act as

Baseball As A First Negro Player
After World War II, Baseball was most beloved game in America. Africans had served their country
gallantly with others. However, they return home fighting to free the world from tyranny only to find

David D Hall Worlds Of Wonder In The Northern Colonies...
TITLE Colonial America was a time of great change and discovery. The era was a time of conflict
between people s secular desires as innovation boomed and their spiritual growth as they discovered
more about God and explored new religious ideas. In his essay, Worlds of Wonder in the Northern
Colonies, David D. Hall accurately argues that despite the secular advances of the Colonial Era,
religion was undoubtedly the most prevalent area of Americans focus because the power of God was
being manifested into their lives in so many irrefutable ways. One reason for the Colonial Americans
growth in faith is the fact the era was abundant with religious figures who strove to lead people to God
and created guidelines for them to live by. The people of Colonial America were blessed to abide in an
enchanted world of wonders. These wonders were no doubt brought on by the hand of God, and the
recognition of this fact caused new religious leaders to rise up and help people focus on living Godly
lives despite the secular distractions that they were presented with. One Puritan leader, John Winthrop,
stated, That which the most in their Churches maintain as a truth in profession only, we must bring
into familiar and constant practice, as in this duty of love we must love brotherly without
dissimulation, we must love one another with a pure heart fervently we must bear one another s
burdens... Winthrop not only wanted each individual person to maintain a stronger focus on faith in
daily life, he also wanted them to use their faith to unite together, and his Model of Christian Charity
showed the people how to accomplish that. Many people tried to abide by these teachings and pass
them onto their children before they made their own way in the changing, confusing world because
many parents feared their children would Fall un wares in Fowler s snare. A second reason for the
religious prevalence in Colonial America was the evil that people faced. The providence of God was
wonder working in making manifest the reach of his sovereignty; such acts of special providence
represented God s clearer and more explicit than usual intervention into the affairs of man. But he was
not alone in having supernatural power. The events

The Song, Uprising, by Muse Essay
I am a millennial, a person born between 1980 and 2000. Millennials are possibly the most influential
generation or, what some people may refer to as, the chosen generation. Our influence has been
illustrated by the impact we had in the election of President Barack Obama. Throughout the last year,
my dad has encouraged me to study millennials because he has been spending many hours studying
them, himself. He believes that music defines the character and values of a generation. As a lover of
all kinds of music, he has enlightened me with a genre of songs describing the desire for change. Most
of the songs were composed by artists of his generation, Fifth Dimension, Eric Clapton, and Sam
Cooke, to name a few. I was pleasantly surprised ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The artist is admonishing millennials to recognize the threats to our civil liberties. I automatically
found it ironic that the songwriter, Matthew Bellamy, is neither a millennial, nor is he from the same
generation as my parents. Because he was born between the two generations, he is able to articulate
our millennial predicament from an outside perspective. As a millennial, I accept the songwriter s call
to action and commit myself to helping my peers prepare for our future. Instead of being fearful of the
day that my generation fully understands the burdens placed upon us, but I am confident that we will
overcome the challenges before us.
The song also states Interchanging mind control/ come let the revolution take its toll/ if you could flick
a switch and open your third eye/ you d see that we should never be afraid to die. Our third eye, or
intuition, truly sets us apart. My peers and I think differently from our parents. We embrace our
diversity. We embody the value that All men are created equal, an ideal that was not honored by
generations before us. This is why we are the chosen generation. We will bring about radical change.
Call it a revolution or call it an uprising, either way, the change will be constructive.

American Bombers Attack Research Papers
A couple of minutes later, the dive bombers from Enterprise arrived due to the decision of LCDR
McClusky to turn northward. These pilots saw four carriers and made at least eight direct hits, causing
Kaga to burst into flame. Due to the sacrificial attack of the torpedo planes, antiaircraft fire was light
and there was no initial fighter opposition for the dive bombers because the fighters had not had
sufficient time to regain altitude, so the bombers were extremely successful. Minutes later, Yorktown
dive bombers arrived, attacking and bombing the Akagi class carrier at the moment the first Japanese
plane started to take off. For both McCluskey s squadron and the Yorktown planes, the bombs having
been left improperly stored allowed each hit to be even more powerful, leaving both the Akagi and
Kaga doomed to sink. Unlike, but also as a result of, the earlier American attacks, the entire Yorktown
squadron returned safely. At the end of this portion of the battle, three Japanese carriers, Akagi, Kaga,

use of comedy as the tone makes the book cheerfully appealing and relatable, demonstrating how it

Logistics And Supply Chain Practices Essay
Logistics and Supply Chain Practices
Introduction
We have several logistics and supply chain management practices that increase the competitive
advantage of a business. They include among others lean thinking, information quality, customer
relations, strategic alliance and information sharing (Elizabeth, p.14). This section discusses lean
thinking and customer relations in the manufacturing and retail markets respectively. The discussion is
also based on a critical analysis of recent literature review in logistics and supply chain management.
Critical Analysis
Lean thinking is essential to improve supply chain management. This is because lean thinking ensures
things are done just as they should. As an example, Toyota has demonstrated superior results with
regard to quality, cost and lead time compared to most (if not all) of its competitors. This
accomplishment has led to a widespread interest in the Toyota System of Production and its way of
doing business. Subsequently, various reviews of The Toyota Way have been done. This has led to the
characterization of lean production, which can now be seen as a generic description of the Production
System at Toyota. Despite there being many, diverse perceptions of what exactly has led to Toyota s
success, Toyota itself proposes that its system is based on considering the time from getting the client
s orders to cash collection and shorten this lead time by eradicating waste (Chiarini 2011).
Customer relationship is also a key

war, and the soldiers who fight these wars. The main character is an 18 year old boy named Paul

former drill sergeant, Himmelstoss, has come to join them in the fight. As he goes to order his former

  • 2. Gold Rush In California Thomas Fuller once said we never know the worth of water till the well is dry (Fuller). As a species we need water to cook, clean, and most importantly live. With water being a natural resource overuse and misuses of it can cause its supply to rapidly dwindle down, and that s exactly what s happening in California right now. California s water comes a married of places such as aquifers, groundwater, surface water, rivers, reservoirs, dams and irrigation systems where 80% of that water goes towards agriculture and 20% to urban/residential use. California s water supply is so substandard that the state can t even say their predicament is a drought, but it can be classified as a crisis. And to add insult to injury the states infrastructure has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1906 President Roosevelt had granted the city a permit to divert water from the Owens River Valley [which was a fairly new] reservoir [located] in the San Fernando Valley (Wells and Blake). That permit led to behind the scene meetings with the city s mayor and other leading LA capitalists where they were using the water from the San Fernando Valley for personal gain and to fatten their wallets by [bolstering] real estate speculation and [irrigating] vast new acreage of farmland (Wells and Blake). Los Angles wasn t the only city in the state where convoluted dealings were happening, in San Francisco for thirty years capitalist were redirecting water from the Tuolumne River. In addition to that for ten years naturalist John Muir protested against the states choice to the eradication of the Hetch Hetchy valley. Muir s efforts were for not because in 1913 President Wilson signed the Raker Act which permitted dam construction. The Raker Act did disclose that selling any electrical power that was generated from the dam to any corporation or individual (Wells and Blake) was against the law, and forgoing the law most of the power that the dam did generate was sold to the utilities company of Pacific Gas and Electric (PG E). And by the end of the 1940 s, San Francisco was selling ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analysis Of Saladin And The Treaty Of Ramla Saladin was one of the most prominent figures in the crusading years especially from 1173 1193. He had a huge influence over the history of the Middle East, from his rise to power under Nur ed Din to becoming one of the most influential figures in crusading history. In 1187 when his victory at the Battle of Hattin showed how far he had unified the Islamic response to the crusaders and this is why when he captured Jerusalem the Franks efforts during the Third Crusade were futile due to Saladin s power. He was generous by nature according to many with Philips stating Crusaders praised him for his generosity and the Treaty of Ramla shows how he could be generous, but also how he used situations to his advantage as he allowed safe passage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This view could again be because William of Tyre was a Frank and Saladin was the leader of the Muslim forces who the Franks were fighting against and meant he was bound to be biased towards Saladin. The idea of Saladin getting his power through disputed tactics opposed to sheer power and strength is also shown in Source 3, by Richard de Templo who was also a Frank; he states by an act of treachery, he put to death Molanus and Sewar, and thus gained for himself the sovereignty of Egypt. This shows how Templo feels Saladin used treachery to gain power, just like William of Tyre in Source 1. Both sources claim Saladin used questionable methods in order to achieve his rise to power. Their accounts would have been for other Christians to read, this may explain why they are negative towards Saladin as they would have seen Saladin as an enemy and a growing force in the Muslim world. Both have heavy elements of bias and thus could be unreliable as a result. Modern historians are fairer to Saladin, for example, Morgan states his rise to power was one of his biggest achievements and suggests that during more than two decades of intensive military and political significance including his rise to power. 2 This shows how just in 20 years Saladin had substantial amounts of skill in politics and this helped ... While you can find trading signals available free, many providers offer their signals on a paid subscription basis. • 5. Revegetation Project Background: Exclosure installation is a frequently used passive restoration tactic in disturbed riparian areas. While this method is effective at aiding graminoid recovery by removing grazing from wild and domesticated ungulates as a disturbance, recovery of Salix spp. as well as other woody species requires active intervention(Hough Snee et al. 2013). Much of the literature surrounding the use of livestock exclosures has focused on the effects of removal in a passive restoration context as well as highlighting the degrading effects of grazing and advocating for its elimination or minimization on public lands (Sarr 2002). Little research has been done to explore strategies for restoration of woody riparian species on active pastoral land ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 10 revegetation plots were established in the Spring of 2017 by students from Colorado State University. The objectives of this study are to: 1) better inform the location of future revegetation plots, 2) explore the dynamics of competition from grasses and grass likes in order to better inform future treatments on revegetation plots, and 3) to explore the survivability of multiple woody riparian species across treatment types in order to inform species selection on future revegetation plots. Hypotheses/Questions: The primary question of this study is where can revegetation plots best be located relative to grazing rotations? Of interest is: How is the rate of planting success (multiyear survival) affected by placement in recently grazed systems versus ungrazed (rested) systems? How is primary and secondary growth affected by placement of plantings in grazed versus ungrazed systems/can grazing be utilized to reduce competition to woody riparian species from riparian grasses? It is predicted that: Relative to unexclosed plots, survival rates will be higher with grazing exclusion owing to reduced herbivory from livestock; Survival rates will be higher within grazed plots owing to reduced resource competition from riparian grasses; Growth rates will be higher within grazed plots due to greater root establishment and less root space competition. Methods: A total of 3 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Bruno Bettelheim s Fairy Tale Insight Essay The birth of fairy tales is many times unknown, but their reputations have always remained the same. These tales not only attract children with their wondrous lands and magical charm, but they captivate the child by involving relatable characters with recognizable problems. While these stories provide mind churning imagination, the lesson they provide does not cease to exist when the book is closed. Bruno Bettelheim, the author of Uses of Enchantment, has constructed an evaluation that fairy tale s offer insight to the child s psychological life. He believes such literature depicts underline meaning to ways in which the child develops and deals with real life conflicts. Undertaking such a strong controversial topic for the first time, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite this statement s broadness, it remains true for the sole fact that children do not have much comprehensible knowledge of most subjects at an adolescent age. Bettelheim implies his words though, as if children have understanding of many things, but fairy tales being the most intelligible to them. Bettelheim also makes unexplainable assumptions about the psyche of a child. He compares their mind more to the developed adult who knows how to cope with struggles of society rather than viewing the child as the undeveloped innocent mind that it is. Fairy tales are harmless to a child while it may regress an adult. Bettelheim fails to recognize the gap of minds (95). He also falls short of realizing that even though he is trying to defend the child and the way their mind works, Bettelheim still thinks and reacts like an adult and cannot place himself in the child s thinking position but only observe them. Another aid in the justification that children may not always find an emphasized meaning to a fairy tale is the idea that children begin in a largely animistic world and only slowly learn the art of abstract thinking (95). The fact that the books offer more than just a beginning, middle, and end solution to a story for children has been disregarded. Rarely are children attentive to the story itself, but more intrigued with the illustrations and voice of the story teller. Books are generally read to children before bedtime to calm them and offer a time to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Positive And Negative Effects Of Censorship In Society Censorship is the suppression, alteration, or prohibition of any parts of books, films, news, music, etc. that are considered obscene, politically unacceptable, or a threat to security. Censorship is an action that has been performed for many years on several subjects of the world, and it is still happening today. Although censorship is an action occurred on many subjects, music is one of the biggest censorship problems in today s world. Music can have both positive and negative effects on a person in society. Either way, music shapes everyday lives of people around the world. Censorship of music is crucial in today s society for protecting moral values, little children, and keeping music that has bad influences on others out of society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Protecting the young people in today s society is important because they are the future, if they are raised right, it will be carried on to their kids and so on. Censorship of music in the United States dates back to the 1800 s after the Civil War when people in the south were banned from singing confederate songs. And censorship of music is still happening today. With music uncensored, little kids and adolescents are likely to think that everything they hear in the music they listen to is acceptable in today s society. Many songs in today s society mention use of drugs, alcohol, sex, violence, cursing, and mistreatment of others. If people of today s society want our future generations to be fine with these traits and acceptable with wrong things happening in our world, vote for no censorship. Listening to society s songs uncensored will influence kids to be active in violence, drugs, alcohol, and other disrespectful activities at a younger age. This will impact our world to continue to roll down hill in the act of violence and war. If uncensorship impacts the world, our future generations will have no morals, everything will be ok. We will work ourselves to a Fahrenheit 451 society. Suicide, not doing anything, relying on society to take care of you, and sitting on butts all day doing absolutely ... • 8. The Water Systems At Bulls Creek, Wild Basin, And Mckinney... Our study determined how detrimental pet activity is on the environment, more specifically the water systems at Bulls Creek, Wild Basin, and McKinney Falls. My hypothesis was the if there is human and pet activity near water ways, there will be an increase in algae boom and chlorophyll a concentration because bacteria body material, and feces of the dog affects the water s health. Our results did not agree with our hypothesis because Chlorophyll a concentration was higher at McKinney Falls, where there was the most pet activity, and lower at Bulls Creek, even though pets were allowed also. Additionally, the Wild Basin, where there were no pets allowed, had samples with an unexpectedly high chlorophyll a concentration compared to the samples from Bulls Creek. Other factors including canopy cover, and urban runoff could have also altered water quality. I infer that the water quality was affected more by other factors. The two sites with about the same amount of human activity were McKinney Falls State Park and Bulls Creek. On the other hand, Wild Basin swimming is not allowed. Our results showed that the order from greatest to least amount of nitrate and phosphorous concentration was Bulls Creek, McKinney Falls, and Wild Basin at the lowest. Hence, because Bulls Creek was had the high amounts of human activity and nitrate and phosphorous levels, this relates Moreover, urban runoff highest at Bulls Creek, which has parking lots, highways, and buildings nearby, and also houses ... Basic Instructions For Knitting All Animals Basic Instructions for Knitting All Animals Heads and Tails No matter which animal you re making, the basic leg and body patterns and assembly instructions are the same. You ll find these patterns and instructions on the next pages of this document. The head, tail, and details are what make each animal distinct and different. These patterns and instructions as well as optional changes for the legs and bodies are found in the specific animal instruction pages in a separate document. Materials and Tools The great thing about making these animals is that you re free to use whatever colors and sizes of yarn that you already have on hand, or that fit the needles you already own. Larger yarns and needles make larger animals. There are only two rules regarding the materials and tools you should use:  Use a similar weight of yarn for the entire animal.  Use knitting needles at least two sizes smaller than those recommended for the yarn you want to use. This makes the stitches tighter so they don t stretch and show the stuffing. Basics The general instructions for all animals are:  Work in stockinette stitch (knit on the right side and purl on the wrong side) unless otherwise noted.  Patterns show only rows with increases, decreases, or color changes. When a row isn t shown on a pattern, continue in stockinette stitch without any changes from the previous row.  When casting on and binding off, leave enough yarn to sew seams with later.  Head, tail, and detail ... The reason child soldiers should be considered as victims are because they are forced into labor, drugged, and threatened into service. Many of these child soldiers, after being rescued and rehabilitated, are able to be adopted into loving families and lead normal lives. However, those who are sent back to where they became child soldiers will surely commit those crimes again. The first reason that child soldiers should be considered as victims are that they are drugged. In many cases, after the child is taken away from their family, the warlords and their older soldiers will give the children drugs such as cocaine, marijuana and narcotics to make them more obedient. • 17. Thrombocythemia Research Paper Essential Thromboycythemia, also sometimes referred to as idiopathic thrombocythemia, essential thrombocytosis and ET, is a rare blood disorder. Those affected with this disorder produce too many blood platelets. Platelets also known as thrombocytes are colorless blood cells that aide in the stopping of bleeding when an injury has occurred. While the platelet counts in a person with ET are high the red and white blood cell counts of those individuals are generally normal. Occasionally one might have a slightly elevated number of white blood cells too. Often times symptoms of thrombocythemia will become apparent when a blood clot forms somewhere in the body. Increased number of platelets in the blood make the propensity to form a blood clot a huge risk. Symptoms of essential thrombocythemia are largely based on where a clot may have formed in the body. Films on History can be lengthy and tedious, but that sure is not the case in this fascinating movie about the famous abolitionist William Wilberforce, who was responsible for steering anti slave trade legislation through the British parliament. Contrary to what its title suggests, Amazing Grace isn t really about the inauguration of the Christian hymn. Set in the 18th century England, it focuses on William s political career to abolish the slave trade by arguing against it on the floor of the House of Commons, which placed him at odds with some of the most powerful men of the time. His friend William Pitt tries to convince him not to, and tells Wilberforce of his magnificent plan to become prime minister and that he wants Wilberforce there with him. Pitt, still trying to convince Wilberforce to stay in Parliament brings a group of people over to Wilberforce s house for dinner. While eating, one of the men places a set of chains on the table and begins to explain how slaves are transported in ships. A former slave, Oloudah Equiano, explains the process and shows Wilberforce the branding mark on his chest he got when he was sold. They tell Wilberforce that they need someone to help them to oppose the trade. John Newton, an elderly priest, served as captain of a slave ship who realized what he was doing was wrong. He then wrote a song to God to free him from the sin of his wrong doing in his correlation with the slave trade; this song was called Amazing Grace. Newton acts as indefinite motivation for Wilberforce to continue his anti slave movement. Parliament becomes impossible to persuade. There are so many excuses set fourth by the Parliament explaining what effects the lack of trade will cause to the people of the city, as well as many industries. Shakespeare and I, though poles apart, raised in different times, places, and even of different genders have one thing in common; we both seem to be hopeless romantics. It is hard to imagine that someone could write so many stories and plays without a real definition of love or even without inspiration. Richard II and Richard III both have pros and cons, but more cons than pros. When Shakespeare wrote about these two kings it seems that in his mind his was writing about the negative effects and attributes about being a king. King Richard II was an immature, adolescent acting, irresponsible, neglectful king to say the least. Consequences Of The European Age Of Exploration The motives, attitudes, and consequences of the European age of exploration and conquest differed from place to place across Europe, starting from the want for power, ending with many consequences, both good and bad, and many mixed views and attitudes to exploration. The European age of Exploration started for a large variety of reasons: to find a sea route to the spices of Asia, to create and control a greater empire, to expand their knowledge of the world, to spread their religion, and to find different precious metals and stones. A great majority of Europe was encouraged by this age and supported the action of exploration. Isabella and Ferdinand of Spain are a great example of being motivated by the idea of power. They wanted their country to grow and become a bigger empire, which is supported by their promises to Christopher Columbus (Doc 1). These promises encouraged Columbus to start exploring the world, and he eventually came across the New World. Here his religious motivations moved him to try and convert any Indian natives to Christianity and believed that for him to do this, he must trade with them in peace. However, this peace did not last very long and ended in a large disagreements and hostility between the two (Doc 2). Another motivation of the Spanish was said by Queen Isabella, before her death when she said, Our principal intention, in soliciting from Pope Alexander VI the concession of the lands discovered and to be discovered was to convert their peoples to our holy Catholic faith... (Doc 4). Her statement confirmed that her main motive for exploration was to spread her Catholic faith. This motivation influenced the positive views of the common people. They viewed the New World as a new start to their life and that it offers new opportunities to them (Doc 3). The different motivations of exploration lead to different attitudes towards the action, some positive, thinking that exploration was beneficial, and some negative, thinking that the treatment of the Native Americans were too unfair. Those dangers like unpredictable and catastrophic weather patterns may not pose a major threat to human populations yet. However, for the inhabitants of earth s coral reefs, the planet s constant warming immediately endangers thousands of species. While coral reefs occupy only a small fraction of the ocean s floor, they account for roughly one fourth of the world s marine life. Coral itself, which in large part comprises coral reefs is made up of thousands of tiny polyps that cling together and secrete a hard outer coating binding the individual polyps together (Jaap, 212 213). This experiment was carried out by diluting the 6% H2O2 with distilled water to decrease the concentration, and then placed in a test tube. A small piece of filler paper disc was coated with the enzyme before it was submerged to the bottom of the substrate hydrogen peroxide solution. The stop timer was started immediately when the filter paper disc touched the bottom and the timer was stopped when the filter paper reached the surface. The results of the experiment showed a linear correlation between concentration of the substrate and the rate of enzyme activity. Overall, as the concentration of H2O2 was decreased, the rate of reaction had decreased. Introduction: This experiment was used to determine the effect of varying concentration of hydrogen peroxide on the rate of enzyme activity. This was a decomposition reaction of hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen gas. The era was a time of conflict between people s secular desires as innovation boomed and their spiritual growth as they discovered more about God and explored new religious ideas. In his essay, Worlds of Wonder in the Northern Colonies, David D. Hall accurately argues that despite the secular advances of the Colonial Era, religion was undoubtedly the most prevalent area of Americans focus because the power of God was being manifested into their lives in so many irrefutable ways. One reason for the Colonial Americans growth in faith is the fact the era was abundant with religious figures who strove to lead people to God and created guidelines for them to live by. The people of Colonial America were blessed to abide in an enchanted world of wonders. These wonders were no doubt brought on by the hand of God, and the recognition of this fact caused new religious leaders to rise up and help people focus on living Godly lives despite the secular distractions that they were presented with. One Puritan leader, John Winthrop, stated, That which the most in their Churches maintain as a truth in profession only, we must bring into familiar and constant practice, as in this duty of love we must love brotherly without dissimulation, we must love one another with a pure heart fervently we must bear one another s burdens... Winthrop not only wanted each individual person to maintain a stronger focus on faith in daily life, he also wanted them to use their faith to unite together, and his Model of Christian Charity showed the people how to accomplish that. Many people tried to abide by these teachings and pass them onto their children before they made their own way in the changing, confusing world because many parents feared their children would Fall un wares in Fowler s snare. A second reason for the religious prevalence in Colonial America was the evil that people faced. The providence of God was wonder working in making manifest the reach of his sovereignty; such acts of special providence represented God s clearer and more explicit than usual intervention into the affairs of man. But he was not alone in having supernatural power. The events ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. The Song, Uprising, by Muse Essay I am a millennial, a person born between 1980 and 2000. Millennials are possibly the most influential generation or, what some people may refer to as, the chosen generation. Our influence has been illustrated by the impact we had in the election of President Barack Obama. Throughout the last year, my dad has encouraged me to study millennials because he has been spending many hours studying them, himself. He believes that music defines the character and values of a generation. As a lover of all kinds of music, he has enlightened me with a genre of songs describing the desire for change. Most of the songs were composed by artists of his generation, Fifth Dimension, Eric Clapton, and Sam Cooke, to name a few. I was pleasantly surprised ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The artist is admonishing millennials to recognize the threats to our civil liberties. I automatically found it ironic that the songwriter, Matthew Bellamy, is neither a millennial, nor is he from the same generation as my parents. Because he was born between the two generations, he is able to articulate our millennial predicament from an outside perspective. As a millennial, I accept the songwriter s call to action and commit myself to helping my peers prepare for our future. Instead of being fearful of the day that my generation fully understands the burdens placed upon us, but I am confident that we will overcome the challenges before us. The song also states Interchanging mind control/ come let the revolution take its toll/ if you could flick a switch and open your third eye/ you d see that we should never be afraid to die. Our third eye, or intuition, truly sets us apart. My peers and I think differently from our parents. We embrace our diversity. We embody the value that All men are created equal, an ideal that was not honored by generations before us. This is why we are the chosen generation. We will bring about radical change. Call it a revolution or call it an uprising, either way, the change will be constructive. Uprising has made me more aware of the power of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. American Bombers Attack Research Papers A couple of minutes later, the dive bombers from Enterprise arrived due to the decision of LCDR McClusky to turn northward. These pilots saw four carriers and made at least eight direct hits, causing Kaga to burst into flame. Due to the sacrificial attack of the torpedo planes, antiaircraft fire was light and there was no initial fighter opposition for the dive bombers because the fighters had not had sufficient time to regain altitude, so the bombers were extremely successful. Minutes later, Yorktown dive bombers arrived, attacking and bombing the Akagi class carrier at the moment the first Japanese plane started to take off. For both McCluskey s squadron and the Yorktown planes, the bombs having been left improperly stored allowed each hit to be even more powerful, leaving both the Akagi and Kaga doomed to sink. Unlike, but also as a result of, the earlier American attacks, the entire Yorktown squadron returned safely. At the end of this portion of the battle, three Japanese carriers, Akagi, Kaga, and Soryu had been set on fire, two battleships had been hit, and one destroyer had been sunk. While submarines were not especially prevalent in the Battle of Midway, the Nautilus did ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to the effectiveness of American fighters and antiaircraft fire, no Japanese bomber escaped, but three hits had been made. Repairs were made quickly, because unlike the Japanese carriers, Yorktown was salvageable due to its actions, as learned at Coral Sea, to protect itself by having all aircraft in the air, all ordnance properly stowed, and the fuel lines purged with carbon dioxide. During the attack on Yorktown, Hiryu made reports which made it possible for American forces to locate it and attack. Six direct hits were made on Hiryu, causing uncontrollable fires forcing the crew to abandon ship. With the downfall of all four Japanese carriers, America had won complete control of the ... • 39. Logistics And Supply Chain Practices Essay Logistics and Supply Chain Practices Introduction We have several logistics and supply chain management practices that increase the competitive advantage of a business. They include among others lean thinking, information quality, customer relations, strategic alliance and information sharing (Elizabeth, p.14). This section discusses lean thinking and customer relations in the manufacturing and retail markets respectively. The discussion is also based on a critical analysis of recent literature review in logistics and supply chain management. Critical Analysis Lean thinking is essential to improve supply chain management. This is because lean thinking ensures things are done just as they should. As an example, Toyota has demonstrated superior results with regard to quality, cost and lead time compared to most (if not all) of its competitors. This accomplishment has led to a widespread interest in the Toyota System of Production and its way of doing business. Subsequently, various reviews of The Toyota Way have been done. This has led to the characterization of lean production, which can now be seen as a generic description of the Production System at Toyota. Despite there being many, diverse perceptions of what exactly has led to Toyota s success, Toyota itself proposes that its system is based on considering the time from getting the client s orders to cash collection and shorten this lead time by eradicating waste (Chiarini 2011). Customer relationship is also a key ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
