Theatrical Syndicate History
History of Theatrical Syndicate The origin of the theatrical syndicate had come to be in early 1896,
when six men had gathered together for a lunch and had all came out with an idea to how they would
be able to control the booking of the top theatrical attractions of the U.S. The six men had called this
act in which they where trying to make come to life as the Theatrical Syndicate. Within just a couple
of weeks of this lunch meeting that the 6 men had they ended up using all of their theatres in which
they had either represented or owned, and put each one of their theatres into a national chain. In the
early twentieth centuries in order for the syndicate to take control of the of the major cities, they all
came to the conclusion that first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Forms of theatre at the the time had became very direct regarding box office receipts. The creating of
having big stars in plays had come to being a very substantial business. Producers had also started
enhancing their ability of being able to draw the audience in, and also have more plays which had
suited the likes of the audience and what they would wanted to feel and see during plays. There where
also other people who had praised the theatrical syndicate in the beliefs that the theatrical syndicate
had actually saved theatre by maintain and standardizing the bookings. Also Daniel Frohman, which is
a brother of one of the men which are in the Theatrical syndicate by the name of Charles Frohman,
was very influenced also by the theatrical Syndicate s movement. What Daniel Frohman had to say
about the influencing of the theatrical syndicate was they decided that its only economic hope was in a
centralization of booking interests, and they acted immediately on this decision. In other words the
only way for our economy going back to being stable financial whys would be the Theatrical
Syndicate and them being able to maintain and also standardized the booking interest. Since the
economy had taken a financial toll on actors producers, and theatre managers at the time the Theatre
Syndicate is what pretty much brought everyone out of that financial crisis back then and

Zeolite Based Sorbent Coated with Iron for Advanced Oxidation of Trace Organics in Treated
Wastewater
Abstract
Zeolite with an iron loading of 0.11% was used in a set of experiments to determine the possibility of
using zeolite in conjunction with Fenton s reagents in order to destroy p Cresol in an aqueous solution.
The results were compared to a homogenous system at a pH of 2.5 using iron salt with an equivalent
iron concentration of iron amended zeolite and the rate of degradation in the heterogeneous system
using the iron amended zeolite was found to be half. The area of interest would be to use this zeolite at
neutral pH, and it was found that the rate of degradation using the iron amended ... Show more content

Iron (II) reacts with hydrogen peroxide to produce a hydroxyl radical and is oxidized to Iron (III).
Upon decomposition of a second hydrogen peroxide molecule, a superoxide radical is produced and
Iron (III) is reduced back to Iron (II). The contaminants are primarily destroyed by the hydroxide
radical, as it is highly reactive and oxidative (2). As iron precipitates above a pH of 3, the reaction
halts, as the iron ions are not available to participate in this reaction. This renders the use of Fenton s
Reagents impractical, as it would require large amounts of acid to lower the pH to the range required
for this reaction. It would also require large amounts of base to raise the pH to a permissible value
required for discharge. This introduces large costs, and makes the process cost prohibitive. In order to
overcome this limitation, it was found that iron amended zeolites could be used to destroy chemicals
in water at nearly neutral pH (3).
Figure 1. Fenton s Reaction producing radicals while cycling iron.
Zeolites are materials composed of silica and alumina that contain micropores capable of adsorbing
chemical compounds. Zeolites are employed primarily to sorb contaminants from water and then
shipped off site. The zeolite must then be regenerated by a thermal process or through the use of an
advanced oxidation process, such as Fenton s Reagent. By varying the

Annexation Of The Philippines Essay
The bald red, white, and blue eagle of American Democracy is coming for you Phillipines, run while
you can! Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th president of the United States, was so infatuated with the idea
of democracy, and he wanted every country to have a little taste of American freedom! After America
s victory in the Spanish American War, George Dewey and his 11,000 American troops marched into
manila and were unsure whether to liberate or occupy the filipino people. Thinking the they were here
to help, the Filipino rebels trusted the Americans, but were soon betrayed as Dewey decided to occupy
the land. The United States had three choices to determine what they wanted to do with the
Philippines: Give it back to Spain, Give the filipino people their freedom, or to annex the whole
country itself. With much debate ranging from artists, influential citizens, and government officials,
the US ultimately decided it would annex! The United States should not have annexed the Philippines
but rather should have given them their independence. While others may think the annexation of the
Philippines would have benefited them, what the Philippines really needed was ... Show more content

WASHINGTON The U.S. Senate voted Wednesday to more forward with debate on the chamber s tax
bill, with Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, R W.Va., among those already voicing their support of the
legislation. This bill will empower and power our economic growth and provide great opportunities
for American workers, Capito said on the Senate floor prior to the vote. It will also lead to increased
wages. It will also help our small businesses expand. Capito was among the 52 Republicans who
voted in favor of the procedural move, with Sen. Joe Manchin, D W.Va., joining 47 other Democrats

Outside of Capito s Charleston office Wednesday afternoon, around 25 people of an array of

with the West Virginia Center on Budget and Policy, said with what the public knows about the Senate
plan, it appears to be a measure that benefits wealthy Americans the most. Most West Virginians at the
end of the day will, on average, see a small tax increase, and if you re very wealthy, you ll see a
sizeable tax cut, he said. Capito said on Talkline she talked to multiple constituents over the

Epictetus Vs 90210
The Handbook vs. 90210
Finding happiness in life is the ultimate goal for many people; this task, however, is not easy. In a
world surrounded by temptation, it is often extremely difficult to distinguish the difference between
what leads to true happiness and what only temporarily gratifies. Innumerable philosophers have tried
to tackle this challenge, and each has left behind various theories on how to achieve happiness. One of
the most famous philosophers, Epictetus, came to the conclusion that Stoicism is the best way to find
happiness in the mortal world. Epictetus lived from approximately 50 130 A.D. and the stoic
movement began to catch on even earlier, around 300 B.C. (Epictetus 1). Stoicism, however, takes an
extreme approach of both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Perhaps this was plausible hundreds of years ago when the world was a much smaller place, but
modern society certainly won t allow for that type of behavior. The television show 90210 depicts the
modern take on happiness, and is quite the opposite of Epictetus teachings. The characters on the
show attribute opulent wealth and rising social status to the concept of the good life. While Epictetus
and the characters of 90210 have very different ideas of happiness and the good life, both parties
would benefit greatly from each other. 90210 and Epictetus show two extreme and opposite versions
of the good life, neither of which can be successful on their own. Achieving the good life a state of
well being, tranquility, and happiness requires a combination of Epictetus teachings and the modern
conception as depicted in 90210. Doing so will allow people to find a happy medium without

Pink Ribbon Clogs
Breast Cancer Action (BCA) coined the term pink washing as part of their Think Before You Pink®
campaign. According to BCA a pink washer is a company or organization that claims to care about
breast cancer by promoting a pink ribbon product, but at the same time produces, manufactures and/or
sells products that are linked to the disease.
These companies all give themselves a pat on the back for spreading awareness, but all the while they
are really just profiting off of breast cancer.
Example one: In 2010, Dansko Shoe Company sold pink ribbon clogs. Consumers likely thought that
a portion of their purchase of pink ribbon clogs went to a breast cancer program. However, purchase
of the pink ribbon clogs was not connected to Dansko s donation none of the portion of the sales went
toward their already set donation of $25,000 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. No matter whether or
not you bought the clogs, their donation was the same.
Example two: In 2010, Reebok marketed a line of pink ribbon emblazoned footwear and apparel at
prices ranging from$50 to $100. Though it heavily promoted the fact that some of their pink ribbon
product sales would be donated to the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade, they set a limit of $750,000,
regardless of how many items were sold, and there was no mechanism in place to alert consumers
once the maximum donation had been met. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe everyone at a time in life want to reach out and help give back to the community and really
make a positive impact. Raising awareness for a new and unknown disease would help the diseases
and keep people educated on it.
When cancer was first discovered raising awareness was the best way to inform people about it and
the dangers it entails. Companies first started to use the pink ribbon which represents breast cancer
awareness on their merchandise, to help raise awareness and in hopes of making money for the breast
cancer movement. When a company says they are donating a portion of the money to the breast cancer
organization (Susan G. Komen for the Cure), people that want to give back to their community see it
has a good way to start making an impact. Hence, they end up either purchasing a merchandise they
want that has a pink ribbon or just buying any merchandise that has a pink ribbon, knowing the profit

Questions On Fedex Financial Performance
1. Prepare to describe in class the competition in the overnight package delivery industry, and the
strategies by which those two firms are meeting the competition. What are the enabling and inhibiting
factors facing the two firms as they pursue their goals? Do you think that either firm can attain a
sustainable competitive advantage in this business? Inhibiting factors: The main factors inhibiting
both companies are each other, both companies have attained a market dominance that is hard to
overcome by any of them. In FedEx case, their financials have been their weakest spot. FedEx poor
financial performance has been a big problem for the company, proof of this is the downgrade FedEx
bonds have had in past years. In UPS, I would say one of their inhibiting factors is their lack of
innovation. UPS has not been able to innovate and work with the technological improvements. Part of
this is due of being first in the market, UPS was founded in 1907, FedEx in 1971, FedEx has gained a
reputation of the leader in innovation and modernization, UPS as the follower. Also, UPS workers
union have represented a huge problem for them, workers union strikes have had a huge hit in the
company finances. Enabling Factors Market dominance, growing market, technology, and
globalization are enabling factors for both companies. In a more specific approach, FedEx s enabling
factors are their adaptation to modernization, being able to really take an advantage of technology.

What Is The Weakness Of A Hotel Industry
3. SWOT ANALYSIS
3.1 Strengths
The first step to a SWOT analysis of hotel industry in India will be identifying its strengths. There are
more than 1000 classified hotels with a room availability of around 97,000 rooms which can easily
cope with the demand of tourists. Furthermore, there are also a number of international names in the
market which meet the needs of international tourists on their visit to India. In addition, there are
many tourist attractions and the cost of labor is low in comparison with the rest of the world, thus,
providing better margins for hotel owners and higher growth potential in the industry (Mohammad
Arabzad an, 2012).

Hyperion And Keats Comparison
Hyperion, Keats shows a remarkable development of his thought about the art of writing and also
about the poet who is just like a type of healer to humankind. Keats begins to write Hyperion after
returning from Scotland to nurse his dying brother Tom who is suffering from painful tubercular. Tom
died on December 1818 and after this shocking event Keats is unable to make any appreciable
progress on Hyperion. So due to the emotional disturbance he isn t quite ready to write his epic. He
tries to continue the poem but he only gives the reason in his letters of not writing about it. He writes
to the George Keats that I went on with it a little last night but it will take some time to get into the

He exposes himself to actual experience in it due to this a tragic epic, Hyperion in comparison of
Keats others poems, expresses the poet s mature judgment regarding the presence of inescapable
suffering and struggle of human life. This chapter contends that these suffering and struggle are found
in the both poems of Hyperion and The Fall when Saturn is overthrown by his son Jupiter. He

The knife slipped out of her hands and struck him around the chest area. He bled profusely and she
bandaged him up and nurtured him for a little while after until she saw he was able to support himself
again. Soon after, Dave would have to take care of the wound by himself, like when it became
infected, and he had to squeeze the puss from it.
Another game instance is he would be timed when it came to doing his chores, if not done quick
enough (faster than an adult human could wash and dry the dishes) he would be subject to more, and
more severe punishment. And even if he did accomplish his tasks in a reasonable amount of time, his
only reward was to eat the left over food thrown in the garbage. Emotionally, she never referred to
David as her son. She always knew Dave as the boy or It . As his father would try to intervene to help
him out, he would be caught by the madness of his wife in calling him, the boy and It . As much as his
father tried to comfort Dave, he did not have the will to stand up against his wife. Most likely, the
abuse stemmed from alcohol abuse of his mother and father. They just both handled their addiction in
different ways. His father was passive, but still loved his son; his mother became violent and took her
frustration and madness out on Dave. Not that alcohol is an excuse, but it was the key to the ignition
of that family s child abuse problem. Alcohol in this case

Analysis of Out, Out by Robert Frost Essay
Analysis of Out, Out by Robert Frost
Robert Frost tells a disturbing story in Out, Out, , in which a little boy loses his life. The title of the
poem leaves the reader to substitute the last word of the title, which some would assume would be out
because of the repetition. The title is referring to the boy exiting the living world. Frost drags the
reader s mind into the poem with the imagistic description of the tools and atmosphere the little boy is
surrounded by.
Frost describes the little boy s work in the first two lines by saying the stove length sticks of wood,
inferring the practical nature of his work. The mountains described in the next lines further add to the
captive nature of the poem. Vermont provides a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sister prepares the evening meal, making her contribution to the family; and calls on the boy to
come and eat. The saw in the boy?s hands was still running and when he took his attention away from
his work, and that split second of carelessness cost him an extremity. His instincts raised his arm
upward to keep all the blood from spilling out immediately. When he realized what was happening,
the boy finally realized he was to young to be doing a man?s work. The boy ?saw all spoiled,? and
now knew his whole childhood had vanished and it was impossible to get it back. The boy frantically
called out to his sister to make the doctor keep his hand on. The boy?s body must have instantly gone
into shock and not felt the absence of the hand. When the doctor arrived he gave him some ether to
make him go to sleep. The little boy began to lose his pulse and soon he was a stranger to the world.
The people surrounding the boy never expected the loss of his hand to tragically end the little boy?s
life. Frost?s almost appalling casual description of death shocks the reader enough to make them
think. ?Since they were not the one dead, turned to their affairs,? describes the environment of the
survivors. They are forced to move on with their life and keep working because they cannot afford to
stop and mourn.
The poem ?Out, Out, ? can only be described as an ironic misfortune that could be experienced by
anyone. The realistic subject

The Impact Of Globalization On Business Activity...
Globalisation, in the most basic sense, could be defined as the growth of business activity
communications and movements of individuals over the national, political and geographic boundaries
(Johnson et al. 2014). According to Hill, there are two main facets of globalization, includes
globalization of markets and production (Hill, Cronk, Wickramasekera, 2014). The historically
different and distinctive national markets are integrating into a single huge global marketplace in
which the perceptions and preferences of customers in different countries are beginning to unite as a
single global standard; examples are McDonald s hamburger (US), IKEA furniture (Sweden). The
globalization of production allow firms to locate products and services from different sites around the
globe in an attempt to make benefits of dissimilarities in the price and quality of elements of
production, thus allowing them to compete more efficiently against their competitors; an example is
Boeing s 777 and 787 Dreamliner commercial aircrafts (Hill, Cronk, Wickramasekera, 2014).
According to Hill, globalisation is occurring because the advances in technology that have allowed
people, goods, resources, money and data to travel around the globe from different locations faster
than before; moreover, the reductions in trade and investment barriers have significantly increased
business activities between states. The theory also states that there are two key drivers of
globalization, includes the declining in

Anorexia Nervosa And Bulimia Nervosa
Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa are a few of the most common disorders struggled with today.
Anorexia Nervosa is a condition of the intense fear to gain weight, which results in consistent lack of
eating. Bulimia Nervosa, involves frequent episodes of binge eating followed by throwing up because
of fear of gaining weight. The mortality rate for anorexia is the highest of all mental disorders yet the
genetic factors relating them were not a huge concern to look into. It is easy to think that Anorexia and
Bulimia are mentality induced only, but there are indeed genetic factors related despite how small the
evidence may be. Personality disorders are heritable, and are commonly developed after an eating
disorder or a large reason someone develops one. The study of serotonin, a compound found in
Bulimia, Anorexia and depression, can be passed down through genes and they play a small part in
eating disorders worth acknowledging. Inheriting genes that make an individual athletic naturally can
affect the chances of eating disorder. There is no evidence that one particular gene could cause an
eating disorder, but there are various traits and levels of compounds that when inherited, increase the
likelihood of developing one. Personality disorders are more likely to develop from an eating disorder
and are common preceding factors for one. Individuals exposed to stressful environments who are
genetically more vulnerable, are at risk for developing an eating disorder. Narcissists

As shown in the graph above, the (average) weight of the precipitate shares a directly proportionate
link with the volume of the Magnesium sulphate and Sodium carbonate solution. As expected in
almost any scientific investigation, errors of both systematic and random nature may have occurred.
These errors include, but are by no means limited to, inaccurate readings of measurement devices,
significant alterations in environment temperature, and incorrect ratios used to produce the solution.
First of all, the measuring cylinders used to measure the amount of liquid needed were read using
human judgement as a sign of when to stop. If these readings were not taken from a perpendicular
angle to the cylinder, the measurements may have been slightly inaccurate due to the observational
error that could have potentially occurred. Another possible error was temperature alterations. As

room temperature (approx. 22°C). If the temperature experienced any significant changes due to
weather et cetera, then the chemical composition of the compounds may have

Employment growth will vary by industry and is largely dependent on the rate of industry growth. Top
executives should face very strong competition for jobs. With strong competition being predicted
between executives, it would be advantageous to further the level of education above the required
minimum by completing a master s or doctorate program.
Many aspiring CEOs choose to pursue a Master of Business Administration (MBA) or a similar
graduate degree. These programs can be pursued before finding work within an industry or after
having been employed for some time. Those who are currently working in a corporate or managerial
position can enroll in a part time professional or executive MBA program that integrates practical
employment knowledge into the curriculum. MBA students might take classes in strategic
management, finance, organizational theories and managerial economics. For individuals who may
have an interest in leading a global organization, pursuing study abroad options allows the study of
international business and the development of different cultural and societal skills. Most MBA

Symptoms And Treatment Of Peptic Ulcer Disease
What is PUD H. Pylori?
In the system of the gastrointestinal tract, there are some conditions that can affect quality of life and
is common. One of these conditions is called peptic ulcer disease (PUD) or also known as H. Pylori
(Helicobacter pylori), which is the bacteria associated with PUD that causes the infection that leads to
PUD. Almost two thirds of the world is affected with this infection, unbeknownst to the host (Moscou,
page 421). This infection is introduced in the body through contaminated sources of food or water. It
also can be transmitted through person to person contact by kissing. Once ingested, buffers are
released and the bacteria is able to survive despite the acidic conditions of the stomach. Most people
do not produce symptoms of the infection, however, there are some that may experience irritation and
tissue damage from overproduction of gastric acids and peptic ulcers. Duodenal ulcers, which form in
the upper region of the small intestines, are more common in younger people. Peptic ulcers tend to be
more common with age as they are more likely to be infected. This disease is treatable and obliteration
of the H. pylori results in ulcer cure and prevention of recurrences (Zoorob, page 243)
Symptoms of PUD The symptoms of the peptic ulcer will depend on the location of it. A gastric ulcer
located in the stomach will result in pain of the upper abdomen approximately 15 to 30 minutes after
consumption of food. Because of the pain, one may be afraid

Socio-Economic Crisis In The Film A Dog s Life By Charlie...
A Dog s Life: A Dog Eat Dog World Due to the strong comedic performance of Charlie Chaplin in his
iconic film A Dog s Life, many forget the dark socio economic crisis that Chaplin was seeking to
unveil throughout the film. To elaborate, this film was first released in the U.S. in 1918, the same year
that World War I ended, so while the humor portrayed through Chaplin s character, Tramp, may have
eased the sensibilities of a tired and war torn country, the whole film had dark socio economic
undertones. For example, the opening scene features Tramp, a homeless gentleman currently calling a
vacant lot his home. Throughout this scene Tramp struggled to maintain his composure and dignity
against the vast evils of a drafty bum; this scene certainly elicited giggles from the audience, but it
also highlighted the woes of a man down on his luck who s only concern was survival. Similarly in the
second scene, we met Scraps, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Tramp is starving he finds food, when he is bored and lonely he goes to find some friends at the

portrayed multiple times throughout the film primarily by Tramp s interactions with Scraps; however
later on Edna, a lady at the club serves to further convince the audience of Tramp s child like good
naturedness. Although it may not be outrightly apparent in today s day and age Tramp enters the
equivalent of a strip club and is greeted by Edna, the shy new girl who appears highly uncomfortable,
Tramp seeing her dilemma greets her and begins to make her feel at ease, until he is thrown out
because he has no money. During this scene, the audience is once again moved by Tramp s
compassionate nature and Chaplin s ability to confront hard issues with subtlety and humor is once

The Age Of Enlightenment By Voltaire
1. Do some research on Voltaire and his beliefs as well as the era in which he wrote, which was the
Age of Enlightenment. Be sure to cite your sources of information.
The Age of Enlightenment occurred from the 1620s until the 1780s. This movement began in England,
and steadily spread almost worldwide before long. The term Enlightenment was used to contrast the
Dark Ages, a time in which innovation and free thinking was at an all time low. Voltaire s French
philosophy included free thinking and the struggle for defense of civil liberties, in which he uses
almost every known literary form, including novels, poetry, and performance art such as plays. His
intellectual skepticism of traditional beliefs and dogmas denotes an illumined contrast to the supposed
dark and superstitious character of the Middle Ages.

the intention bringing about change. How do Voltaire use techniques such as irony, sarcasm, and
understatement for his satirical purposes? Give some examples from throughout the book.
Voltaire uses irony and satire in many different situations during the story. A prime example of these
literary forms can be found in the form of religion, for example when the Catholic Inquisitor speaks
against his own ideals and keeps a mistress, and a Franciscan friar who operates as a jewel thief, even

Racial Differences In Basketball Essay
In my opinion, I definitely think there is a racial difference when it comes to athletic ability. For the
most part, something that we can all agree on, is that we can see the racial differences in sports
especially when it comes to basketball. When trying to find individuals who are good at playing
basketball, most likely the team will consist of a majority of individuals who comes from an African
descent. The question however is, why is this the case? I believe that there are two theories to explain
this concept.
The first theory that I feel like might be the answer is because, it is something that they have grown up
and have done throughout several generations. When children see certain activities that are constantly
repeated throughout their family, or those who look similar to them race wise, they feel like it is
something that they have to do as well. If we view this situation in the eyes of a child who is African
American, when he or she sees that there is a famous man from an African descent who is the best
player within the entire basketball team, the child now believes that those who are black are better at
playing basketball, which encourages the child to follow the footsteps of those who belongs in their
race. However, if the same child watches a soccer match, the child sees that there isn t anyone on the
soccer team who is black. So, in the child s mind, he or she is already making assumptions that, those
who are African American are the ones who play

What is Equality?
Equality is about making sure people are treated fairly and given fair chances. Equality is not about

The Human Brain
Many people do not understand the complexity of the human brain. Just as when one goes to buy a car
they focus on the outside features instead of what is under the hood and how it works. Just as a car has
an engine and other features working the car, the brain has different functions that control not only
your movements, but also the way that you perceive the world. With the brain only weighing around
three pounds it is known to be the best computer system there is. The brain has to communicate with
the senses and muscles in the body and it does that through neurons. The neuron transmits the
information to different parts of the body and is considered a building block of the brain. Neurons

The peripehal nervous system is broken into two brances which include the somatic nervous system
and the autonomic nervous system. The somatic nervous system transmits the messages between the
central nervous system and your sensory organs. It regulates movement, posture and balance. It
contains your sensory and motor neurons. Once messages are transmitted through sensory neurons our
brain can interpret the picture you are seeing in front you you, the food you are tastign and even a hot
flame touching your finger tip. Once the message gets to the CNS it sends messages back through the
motor neuron that controls movements. It has voluntary control. For example, if you touch a flame,
the sensory neuron from your finger tip will send the message that it is hot and your brain will deliever
a message back to move your finger. It happens almost instantly. The other branch which is the
autonomic nervous system controls the internal body processes. You body does these things
automaticallt without having to think about it. Although, you could still have control over some of the
processes, such as breathing. The ANS is broken into two different parts which is the sympathetic
nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system. The sympathetic nervous system speeds up

Keynes Macroeconomic Theory Essay
How did Keynes s idea of the reasons for the macro economic instability challenge the prevailing
economic orthodoxy?
After 100 years of the industrialization era modern economics began to see a change and shift of
ideas. These ideas were brought to the front by John Maynard Keynes, who in 1936 transformed much
of the modern economics by a single book The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money.
Keynes also wrote other titles as well as ‘A Tract on Monetary Reform (1923) which was an attempt
to secure a monetary policy instead of the gold standard.
Keynes (2002) believed that the stable economy of Britain was more desirable than the stable value of
the pound on the foreign exchange. He argued against going back to the gold ... Show more content on

Keynes also suggested that to keep both in balance a managed monetary system should be introduced.
Keynes published this book during the Wall Street crash and yet again Keynes s idea was not paid
much attention to as economists as well as government officials were not aware of how serious the
depression was going to be.
Then Keynes wrote his book ‘The General Theory of Employment, Interest, and money but the ideas
in this book were inspired by the work of other economists.
Michael Tugan Baranowsky s development was later an important part of Keynes s analysis. He said
that the imbalance between savings and investments were at the heart of the business cycle. He said
that the imbalance could not be overcome by changes in the interest rates, as he argued that there were
reasons than the interest rate that motivated people to save. An even more important breakthrough was
made by a Swedish economist.
Knut Wicksell was the Swedish economist, and it was based on his ideas that Keynes developed the
theory of national income which led to the Keynesian revolution.
Say s Law suggested that any money saved will eventually get invested, and if there was some
imbalance in savings and investment it would be fixed by a rise or fall in interest rate. However,

Dances With Wolves
In his movie Dances With Wolves actor Kevin Costner tries to do away with any preconceived notions
that the viewer might have had about the Native American Indians being a savage and inhuman race.
He does this by first unraveling the mysteriousness of the Indians then he brings the viewer to a point
of connectedness with the Indians and their culture. We then come to a sincere appreciation for them
as human beings and individuals and find ourselves siding with them in matters of allegiance. This
movie accomplishes this goal with several tactics and strategies. As the story unfolds we follow the

and we understand how much trouble this has probably been for the Indians before. We see them as
being generous people when John is presented with a Buffalo skin from them as well as their kindness
in accepting his gifts. We also see how in John s eyes the Indians are developing personalities of their
own as individuals and not just a group of people.
The second thing that must be done in order for the movie to completely change our opinion of these
savages and bring our allegiances to them instead of the white settlers and army is that we must not
only overcome our fears and prejudices we must also now connect with them in such a way that we
feel bonded by friendship and love. The best way to accomplish this is through a feeling of belonging.
As John becomes more and more involved with the Indians we see more and more of the personalities
of the Indians themselves and we begin to see how human they really are. Now John begins to form

The Church Of King Henry VIII And The English Reformation
The churches of the Anglican Communion have their historical roots in the English Reformation
(Anglican History). The Anglican church originated when King Henry VIII split from the Roman
Catholic Church in 1534 when Pope Clement VII refused to grant the king an annulment.
The following overview derives from the New Catholic Encyclopedia. Henry VIII, the second s son of
King Henry VII, was groomed for ruling the Church during his youth, with a broad education in
theology, music, languages, and poetry. His elder brother was being prepared for the throne, but
passed away from a sudden illness. Henry VIII took over as King, and became engaged to his brother
s widow, Catherine of Aragon. Based on the Old Testaments ban on marrying the widow of your
brother, King Henry VIII became concerned his marriage was cursed by God. He petitioned Pope
Clement VII for a papal annulment, but the Pope immediately rejected the annulment. In 1531, he
compelled the English clergy to accept him as head of the church of England, leading the Parliament
to pass a series of laws depriving the Roman Catholic Church of any authority in England. King
Henry VIII received the same legal authority over the English Church that the Pope operated over the
Roman Catholic Church. Following this, Kind Henry VIII married Anne Boleyn, and split his church
from the Roman Catholic Church, forming the original Anglican Church.
The word Anglican originates from the ecclesia anglicana, a medieval Latin phrase that dates back to
1246. The Latin phrase means The English Church. The Church of England traces its history back to
the 2nd century, when Christianity first arrived in Britain. The religion of Anglicanism believes that
there is only one God, but there are three elements of the Divine: God the Father, God the Son, and
God the Holy Spirit. Anglican theology tends to be biblical pastoral and apologetic, rather than
dogmatic of confessional. The valid baptism in the Anglican religion is by water, in the Name of the
Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. People baptized during infancy are expected to reaffirm
their baptismal promise as they get older (Encyclopedia of Religion).
Anglicanism is sometimes called the via media, the middle way,

Kellogg s Failure Essay

can take up in future to build itself as a brand in India.
Kellogg s created a new category of branded breakfast cereal products throughout the world. Over the
longer period of time, it has successfully been able to change eating habits of consumers and has
converted various nations as corn flakes eating nations. After capturing over 40% US s ready to eat
market in breakfast cereals alone, Kelloggs introduced its flagship products into Indian markets in

The competitive brands in the market were selling the similar product at 1/3rd price of Kellogg s and
hence Kellogg failed to attract price conscious Indian households. Even after losing its market share,
Kellogg s failed to understand the nuance of Indian market.
4. Wrong promotion
Kellogg in its initial advertisements questioned the nutrition quotient of Indian breakfast and
suggested that Indian food was not very good for health. This deeply offended the emotions of Indian
ladies who had been serving traditional breakfast for ages to their families.
5. Inadequate market research
Kellogg s executives overestimated the target segment of Indian market. They came with the figure of
950 million people as if everyone eats breakfast in Indian, everyone who eats breakfast would
potentially want to eat corn flakes. What Kellogg didn t know, as Homi Bhabha, director of Harvard s
Faculty of Arts and Sciences Humanities center stated at the time, was that Indians, rather like the
Chinese, think that to start the day with something cold, like cold milk on your cereal, is a shock to the
system. You start it with warm milk. Thus kellogg failed to provide the product that catered to Indian

2.2.1. Absolute Standards One group of appraisal methods use absolute standard. This means that
employees compare to a standard, and their evaluation is independent of any other employee in a week

critical incident appraisal, the checklist, the graphic rating scale, forced choice and behaviorally

writes an explanation about employee s strength and weakness points, previous performance,

combines with other methods. In essay appraisal, we attempt to focus on behaviors (Mondy, 2008).

Love Medicine Summary
A Message of Hope in Love Medicine
Love Medicine, by Louis Eldridge attempts to confront the popular stereotypes of American Indians.
The novel generally follows the history of a family of Chippewa Indians who live on and off a
reservation.
In a thoroughly humanist approach, Ms. Eldrige narrates each chapter in a different voice, and through
extremely varied characters effectively shows the diversity of the Indians. This is an important aspect
of the novel, as it demonstrates that there is no single stereotypical Indian . The book begins with two
scenes from a modern perspective, showing a turbulent family with fairly disturbing problems. Then

Maybe this image came in several varieties but all images of the Indian had one common point:
Indians were another historical fact coupled with the romanticized images portrayed by the media. Our
outlook on Native Americans as a society is one which attaches every individual American Indian with
a cultural past which has absolutely nothing to do with the present day. Expecting an American Indian
to retain cultural beliefs and societal practices reflective of his heritage is like expecting an urbanized
American Swede to carry out a traditional 1500 s Swedish lifestyle in the 1990 s.
It is this issue which Love Medicine adresses so skillfully. The Chippewa family in the story is very
large. From the very beginning we see scenes of infidelity, drunken rampages, strained marriages,
hate, and poverty. These scenes offer a look into the lifestyle of the modern Native American which is
strikingly different from the comfortable images that we all harbor; images of a noble people living off
the land, in harmony with nature. So much for the romantic view of the noble savage . This leaves the
reader in the uncomfortable situation reconciling the two extremes images. The compromise is found
in the stories of the book. The individual narratives which show the world through the eyes of the

Clarity Project Paper
The Auditing Standards Board has launched the Clarity Project (Lindberg Seifert, 2011) which is an
effort to make the U.S. Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (U.S. GAAS) easier to comprehend in
the eyes of non public businesses. The Clarity Project will result in the first complete redrafting and
recodification of U.S. GAAS since 1972 (Morris Thomas, 2011, para. 2). Four of the most significant
changes are: changing the format of the standards so they are more consistent and readable, the
wording in the auditor s report, group audit standards, and the authoritative status on the 10 generally
accepted auditing standards (Morris Thomas, 2011). The Clarity Project also includes the process of
integrating the U.S. GAAS with International Standards on Auditing (ISA).
There are five key topics for comparison between ISA and U.S. Auditing Standards. The U.S.
Auditing Standards is broken up between two groups: Auditing Standards Boards (ASB) and Public

companies. PCAOB is the authoritative group for public companies. PCAOB was formed from the

Character Analysis Of Katherine Mansfield s The Fly
The tragedies war brings people are horrific, and they do not only occur to those who chose to be
involved. The death and damage that arise cause agony, and not all people are able to cope with this
agony as well as others. People s personalities significantly affect how they are able to cope. In
Katherine Mansfield s The Fly, the main character, the boss, is a man with a naturally controlling
personality that influences how he deals with his war sourced anguish and overcomes it in a somewhat
cruel manner. Being referred to as the boss, rather than his birth given name, tells a great deal about
the boss. The boss in The Fly has a very bossy personality finding great pleasure in being in control.
Readers can tell that the boss is controlling by his method of killing the fly in his office. He carefully
observes the fly struggle to stand after being unstuck from the inkpot and he drowns the fly with the
ink from his pen. After the boss observes the fly finish its laborious task of freeing itself, he refills his
pen and shakes another dark drop. The boss then asks, What about this time? as he repeats his actions
twice more. Even after the fly dies he commands it: Come on... Look sharp! This proves that the boss
is empowered by displaying his dominance even over such a helpless insect. Readers also see that the
boss is taking advantage of his control when he orders his secretary Macey around. He first tells him, I

often made shallowly. Children may befriend other children who have the favorite color as them. Or
when you are a teenager you might befriend someone because they like the same musical artist as you.
The older you get the more you realize these friends play a special part in your life. These people have
different traits from their personality that appeals to you in one way or another. Either way, friends
play an important part in a person s life. Friends are there to help you and provide support. Friends can
also be used as a scapegoat when life is just becoming a bit much they can help you calm your nerves
by just simply being there. Some people might look for loyalty, humor, and honesty in a friendship.
There are four main types of friend s fake friends, social gatherers, acquaintance s, and best friends.
The Fake Friend
The first type of friend is the fake friend. You will run into a fake friend at one point of your life.
These are the people how parents typically always have a bad feeling about. Usually being younger
we never really pay attention to the things our parents say about them. Or we never pay attention to all
the signs of them being fake. Fake friends can talk about you behind your back. And they could also
pretend they like you even though they don t. Fake friends are often just users. They ask you for
favors, but never offer to do

An Ethical Dilemma Of Sexually Oriented Jokes
An Ethical Dilemma Sexually oriented jokes were used in the workplace that forced the resignation of
a younger employee. Looking at different ethical approaches to situations, this paper will see which
approach may have been more useful in coming to a solution to this dilemma. Background LeSaint
Logistics is third party logistics provider and automotive paint distributor for PPG Inc. They have
many departments within each warehouse that must work together to ensure paint and paint and paint
products are received, delivered to customers, and disposed of when necessary. In this situation
Richard was working as the hazmat disposal supervisor, and Bruce was Richard s only direct report.
They worked side by side for a couple of years. One day Bruce approach me (at that time I was just
another warehouse employee) about some crude sexual jokes Richard had been making towards him
over the course of several months, and how uncomfortable it had made him feel. When has asked my
advice on how to handle the situation I suggested he report it to the next level of management. I was
told the only reason he hadn t done that was because he was afraid the company would take no action
because of Richard s age. Nothing was ever reported to management. About a month after this
conversation Bruce told me he could not take the harassment any longer and quit. According to mutual
acquaintances, Richard still works there today making his jokes. Ethical Issue The main ethical issue

Frankenstein, By Mary Shelley And Parable Of The Sower By...
And the Destiny of Earthseed is to take root among the stars. (Butler 77) The books Frankenstein by
Mary Shelley and Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler are both science fiction novels warning
of a dangerous potential future. Frankenstein looks at the dangers of creating artificially intelligent
beings, while Parable of the Sower explores human savagery in the collapse of American civilization
as the result of poor political decisions. Each addresses concerns of the time they were published.
While both are pessimistic views of the future and both require the suspension of disbelief, the
concept of dystopia and utopia is definitely apparent in both novels. A dystopia being a world in which
nothing is perfect and a utopia being a perfect world. Frankenstein addresses a timeless issue that
modern science may soon make a reality, while Parable of the Sower creates an alarming depiction of
conservative leadership.
Frankenstein is an early depiction of the creation of artificial intelligence, an idea with great
significance today. While artificially intelligent beings such as golems exist in myth as the product of
magic, scientific progress has the true potential to make such beings. In modern times, the subject is
frequently discussed with regard to computers being programmed to think, in an imitation of the
human brain. In Frankenstein, the medium used is recycled human body parts stitched together to
create a new human like entity. Whether or not this entity,

My Teaching Ideas and Theory Applications
I believe every child can succeed in mathematics, and it is my role to unlock this potential. I aim to
teach in ways that help children develop cooperation, assertion and responsibility, as well as a good
understanding of subject matter. I believe this can be achieved by creating a culture in the classroom
that is built gradually on trust, with a common language, through rules that we create together, and by
practicing procedures until they become nearly automatic. I aim to use the resources, materials, and
curriculum requirements I have to work with, to engage my students in meaningful learning. I believe
that children want to learn, and that it is motivating for pupils when they and their teacher s are
enthusiastic about learning, too.
It is my aim to adopt a social constructivist approach as a teacher. This will mean encouraging
collaboration and work with other people; building on what children already know; scaffolding
lessons to develop learning; improving mathematical language through communication; allowing
children to experiment and explore new concepts for themselves. Yackel et. al. (1990) claim learning
occurs not as students take in mathematical knowledge in ready made pieces but as they build up
mathematical meaning on the basis of their experience in the classroom.
Social constructivism with a focus on talk in my curriculum area
Social Constructivism defines teachers as educational facilitators who deliver a framework in which
children can develop their

Argumentative Essay On International Adoption
Did you know that international adoption is a real argument between people? International adoption is
a big topic between people; they either like it or hate it. Overall International adoption should be more
acceptable considering the cost, the benefits, and various country exchanges. The history of
international adoption comes from the Korean War. After the Korean War, Korean and biracial orphans
were placed with American families. It started around the 1950 s. Many times in the past biological
mothers would put their child up for adoption because of poverty, illness, or family crisis. However,
international adoption has dropped more than 60% in the past decade ( International Adoption Facts:
What You Need to Know ). In 2016 there were 5,370 International Adoptions. Then in 2015 American
families adopted 5,648 children alone from other countries. In 2014 there were 6,438. In 2013 there
were 7,092. In 2012 there were 8,667. In 2011 there were 9,319. In 2010 there were 11,058. As you
can see the rate of international adoption is dropping every year by at least 1,000. This is caused
because they are making it harder to adopt internationally ( Travel.State.Gov. ). International adoption
is a good choice because most of the time the health of the children living in their home countries is
not good. Most of the time they are very sick and need to leave their country otherwise they will die.
When you go to pick up your child from their country, you can spend some time with your new kid
before you leave to bring them to your house. It is also a good choice because you will make a big
difference in a kid s life. In most of the adoptive cases you save the child s life ( 7 Reasons to Adopt a
Waiting Child Internationally ). It is also a good choice because if you can not have your own kids, if
you adopt internationally you don t have to struggle or pay for infertility. International adoption is
what most American families/people do because American adoption can take over 2 3 years to be
approved. Another good thing about international adoption is that you can get financial aid to help
with the cost of adoption. Basically the good quality of international adoption is that it is a easier and

Barbie Doll Marge Piercy Analysis
In the story barbie doll by Marge Piercy it s about a young normal girl growing up playing with dolls
and pretend make up. It takes a shocking turn when she is made fun of during her youth adulthood, for
have a big nose and fat legs. Futher into the poem she cut off her legs and nose and a very unusual
illustration of her laying in a casket with an conclusion that express to every woman a happy ending .
Within society a women desire to be flawless when it comes to looks. There s so much pressure and
eagerness when it comes to a female fulfilling that image of looking like barbie. There is proof to this
statement with the poet s use of irony, imagery and the impact of words having a bad outcome on the
self esteem of females.
Piercy s use of irony is detected within the title itself barbie doll . I envision it to revolve around the
ideal barbie image alot of people make great efforts to achieve. However, this is where the true irony
comes in. Barbies are popular for their unnatural slim bodies and perfect features and because they are
played with by little girls, that image becomes the image teenagers and girls look for. Yet, in the poem
the girl does not have barbie doll features. a fat nose on thick legs, (835) is what she was being teased
about because she hit puberty. Then in the magic of puberty Puberty is when your body begins to
change into an adult and there s nothing magical about that, especially for the little girl because it
caused her to be teased for her appearences.
In the last few lines of the poem, piercy refers to a happy ending it is a depressing thought.
Consummation at last. To every woman a happy ending (24 25) is very sarcastic and pessimistic. She
is basically saying that at last the end has come and its a feeling of pleasure since the girl got her wish,
but at what cost did she become a barbie.
The poet s use of imagery is all over the poem when we reflect on the girl childhood and how she was
teased for her fat nose on thick legs she doesn t resemble a barbie doll with perfect nose and legs. Her
good nature wore out like a fan belt. (15 16) There s imagery in this line because a fan belt breaks
quickly when it comes in contact with oil. So the on going disapproval

Drugs Should Be Banned For Professional Sports
Drug Use In Sports
Ninety eight percent of professional athletes say that they would take performance enhancing drugs if
they didn t have a chance of getting caught. Performance enhancing drugs, or PEDs, or steroids, have
been around since 776 BC when the Greeks would use them to improve their performance in the
Olympic Games. During World War II, the Germans, including Hitler, would take steroids to make
themselves stronger and more aggressive. The Americans, British, and Japanese also began to use
steroids during World War II shortly after Germany. After the war, athletes started to get their hands on
these drugs and began to use them to boost their performance. More recently, athletes such as
bicyclist, Lance Armstrong and baseball player, Alex Rodriguez have been caught using performance
enhancers. While there are some people that believe performance enhancing drugs should be illegal in
professional sports, some say they should be legal because using the drugs should be the athlete s
decision, not someone else s and steroid use could possibly even make the sport more fair than it is
today.
Athletes in professional sports should be allowed to make their own decision whether or not to use
performance enhancers. If athletes prefer the gains in performance allegedly provided by the use of
steroids and they understand that there is a chance that the steroids could have a negative effect on
their bodies then what gives anyone the right to interfere with their choice?

Earthquakes In Southern California
There is no shortage of earthquakes in Southern California. On any given day this area sees numerous
earthquakes, though most are barely even felt. The concern here is what will happen when another
earthquake occurs in a large dense area such as Los Angeles County, California. One question
concerns earthquake preparedness of residents in this region. Do residents know what to do in order to
prepare for an earthquake? Are residents prepared for a medium to large sized earthquake? Another
question is, how prepared are buildings when it comes to the shaking from a medium to large
earthquake? Will these buildings protect residents and employees, or do they pose a severe threat
when faced with another earthquake?

In order to map earthquake hazard zones correctly geologists found that not only should they be
mapping historic earthquake epicenters but also a detailed map of every single fault line. Not until the
deadly Long Beach earthquake of 1933 did politicians and engineers feel the need to start earthquake
proofing the structures around them (Mualchin 2011). With the passing of the Field Act school
buildings in particular were constructed with earthquake safety in mind. But the Field Act only
covered schools. It wasn t until the San Fernando earthquake of 1971 where major infrastructure and
hospitals were severely damaged that more policies were put in place to earthquake proof these
structures (Mualchin 2011). The schools which were structurally designed to withstand earthquakes
from the Field Act faired surprisingly well during this earthquake. The new policies that followed the
San Fernando earthquake required hospitals and infrastructure to be designed to withstand an
earthquake, also they required rupture hazard zones to be mapped so that development here would be

Assignment #3 Option 2 The Human Genome Project
Tuesday November 17, 2015
What makes one person differ from the other? Is it physical appearance, personality or mentality?
These three factors separate each individual from one another and it is what makes them different.
Physical appearance, personality and mentality are made up from the same building blocks which are
known as DNA sequences. DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid), is a self replicating material that is found
throughout every living organism. It s a large macromolecule that transforms characteristics into life.
DNA is made up two strands that run in opposite directions therefore they are known to be
antiparallel. The lagging strand runs in the 5 3 direction while the leading strand run s in the 3 5
direction (International Baccalaureate Organization, 2009). There s a phosphate group attached by a
covalent bond to the carbon atom which is covalently attached to a nucleotide base. The two DNA
strands are attached to each other by hydrogen bonds. There are two hydrogen bonds found between
Thymine and Cytosine and three hydrogen bonds found between Guanine and cytosine (International
Baccalaureate Organization, 2009). Many studies have been done in order to gather information about
the human DNA. The sequence of base paring in DNA was determined by The Human Genome
project (International Baccalaureate Organization, 2009).

  • 2. Theatrical Syndicate History History of Theatrical Syndicate The origin of the theatrical syndicate had come to be in early 1896, when six men had gathered together for a lunch and had all came out with an idea to how they would be able to control the booking of the top theatrical attractions of the U.S. The six men had called this act in which they where trying to make come to life as the Theatrical Syndicate. Within just a couple of weeks of this lunch meeting that the 6 men had they ended up using all of their theatres in which they had either represented or owned, and put each one of their theatres into a national chain. In the early twentieth centuries in order for the syndicate to take control of the of the major cities, they all came to the conclusion that first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Forms of theatre at the the time had became very direct regarding box office receipts. The creating of having big stars in plays had come to being a very substantial business. Producers had also started enhancing their ability of being able to draw the audience in, and also have more plays which had suited the likes of the audience and what they would wanted to feel and see during plays. There where also other people who had praised the theatrical syndicate in the beliefs that the theatrical syndicate had actually saved theatre by maintain and standardizing the bookings. Also Daniel Frohman, which is a brother of one of the men which are in the Theatrical syndicate by the name of Charles Frohman, was very influenced also by the theatrical Syndicate s movement. What Daniel Frohman had to say about the influencing of the theatrical syndicate was they decided that its only economic hope was in a centralization of booking interests, and they acted immediately on this decision. In other words the only way for our economy going back to being stable financial whys would be the Theatrical Syndicate and them being able to maintain and also standardized the booking interest. Since the economy had taken a financial toll on actors producers, and theatre managers at the time the Theatre Syndicate is what pretty much brought everyone out of that financial crisis back then and ... Matthew Potzler CHEE 569B Term Project Zeolite Based Sorbent Coated with Iron for Advanced Oxidation of Trace Organics in Treated Wastewater Abstract Zeolite with an iron loading of 0.11% was used in a set of experiments to determine the possibility of using zeolite in conjunction with Fenton s reagents in order to destroy p Cresol in an aqueous solution. The results were compared to a homogenous system at a pH of 2.5 using iron salt with an equivalent iron concentration of iron amended zeolite and the rate of degradation in the heterogeneous system using the iron amended zeolite was found to be half. The area of interest would be to use this zeolite at neutral pH, and it was found that the rate of degradation using the iron amended ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Iron (II) reacts with hydrogen peroxide to produce a hydroxyl radical and is oxidized to Iron (III). Upon decomposition of a second hydrogen peroxide molecule, a superoxide radical is produced and Iron (III) is reduced back to Iron (II). The contaminants are primarily destroyed by the hydroxide radical, as it is highly reactive and oxidative (2). As iron precipitates above a pH of 3, the reaction halts, as the iron ions are not available to participate in this reaction. This renders the use of Fenton s Reagents impractical, as it would require large amounts of acid to lower the pH to the range required for this reaction. It would also require large amounts of base to raise the pH to a permissible value required for discharge. This introduces large costs, and makes the process cost prohibitive. In order to overcome this limitation, it was found that iron amended zeolites could be used to destroy chemicals in water at nearly neutral pH (3). Figure 1. Fenton s Reaction producing radicals while cycling iron. Zeolites are materials composed of silica and alumina that contain micropores capable of adsorbing chemical compounds. Zeolites are employed primarily to sorb contaminants from water and then shipped off site. The zeolite must then be regenerated by a thermal process or through the use of an advanced oxidation process, such as Fenton s Reagent. By varying the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th president of the United States, was so infatuated with the idea of democracy, and he wanted every country to have a little taste of American freedom! After America s victory in the Spanish American War, George Dewey and his 11,000 American troops marched into manila and were unsure whether to liberate or occupy the filipino people. Thinking the they were here to help, the Filipino rebels trusted the Americans, but were soon betrayed as Dewey decided to occupy the land. The United States had three choices to determine what they wanted to do with the Philippines: Give it back to Spain, Give the filipino people their freedom, or to annex the whole country itself. With much debate ranging from artists, influential citizens, and government officials, the US ultimately decided it would annex! • 6. Epictetus Vs 90210 The Handbook vs. 90210 Finding happiness in life is the ultimate goal for many people; this task, however, is not easy. In a world surrounded by temptation, it is often extremely difficult to distinguish the difference between what leads to true happiness and what only temporarily gratifies. Innumerable philosophers have tried to tackle this challenge, and each has left behind various theories on how to achieve happiness. One of the most famous philosophers, Epictetus, came to the conclusion that Stoicism is the best way to find happiness in the mortal world. Epictetus lived from approximately 50 130 A.D. and the stoic movement began to catch on even earlier, around 300 B.C. (Epictetus 1). Stoicism, however, takes an extreme approach of both ... The characters on the show attribute opulent wealth and rising social status to the concept of the good life. While Epictetus and the characters of 90210 have very different ideas of happiness and the good life, both parties would benefit greatly from each other. 90210 and Epictetus show two extreme and opposite versions of the good life, neither of which can be successful on their own. • 7. Pink Ribbon Clogs Breast Cancer Action (BCA) coined the term pink washing as part of their Think Before You Pink® campaign. According to BCA a pink washer is a company or organization that claims to care about breast cancer by promoting a pink ribbon product, but at the same time produces, manufactures and/or sells products that are linked to the disease. These companies all give themselves a pat on the back for spreading awareness, but all the while they are really just profiting off of breast cancer. Example one: In 2010, Dansko Shoe Company sold pink ribbon clogs. Consumers likely thought that a portion of their purchase of pink ribbon clogs went to a breast cancer program. However, purchase of the pink ribbon clogs was not connected to Dansko s donation none of the portion of the sales went toward their already set donation of $25,000 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. No matter whether or not you bought the clogs, their donation was the same. Example two: In 2010, Reebok marketed a line of pink ribbon emblazoned footwear and apparel at prices ranging from$50 to $100. Though it heavily promoted the fact that some of their pink ribbon product sales would be donated to the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade, they set a limit of $750,000, regardless of how many items were sold, and there was no mechanism in place to alert consumers once the maximum donation had been met. ... Raising awareness for a new and unknown disease would help the diseases and keep people educated on it. Companies first started to use the pink ribbon which represents breast cancer awareness on their merchandise, to help raise awareness and in hopes of making money for the breast cancer movement. When a company says they are donating a portion of the money to the breast cancer organization (Susan G. • 8. Questions On Fedex Financial Performance 1. Prepare to describe in class the competition in the overnight package delivery industry, and the strategies by which those two firms are meeting the competition. What are the enabling and inhibiting factors facing the two firms as they pursue their goals? Do you think that either firm can attain a sustainable competitive advantage in this business? Inhibiting factors: The main factors inhibiting both companies are each other, both companies have attained a market dominance that is hard to overcome by any of them. In FedEx case, their financials have been their weakest spot. FedEx poor financial performance has been a big problem for the company, proof of this is the downgrade FedEx bonds have had in past years. In UPS, I would say one of their inhibiting factors is their lack of innovation. UPS has not been able to innovate and work with the technological improvements. Part of this is due of being first in the market, UPS was founded in 1907, FedEx in 1971, FedEx has gained a reputation of the leader in innovation and modernization, UPS as the follower. Also, UPS workers union have represented a huge problem for them, workers union strikes have had a huge hit in the company finances. Enabling Factors Market dominance, growing market, technology, and globalization are enabling factors for both companies. In a more specific approach, FedEx s enabling factors are their adaptation to modernization, being able to really take an advantage of technology. Also, their more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The title of the poem leaves the reader to substitute the last word of the title, which some would assume would be out because of the repetition. The title is referring to the boy exiting the living world. Frost drags the reader s mind into the poem with the imagistic description of the tools and atmosphere the little boy is surrounded by. Frost describes the little boy s work in the first two lines by saying the stove length sticks of wood, inferring the practical nature of his work. His instincts raised his arm upward to keep all the blood from spilling out immediately. When he realized what was happening, the boy finally realized he was to young to be doing a man?s work. The boy ?saw all spoiled,? and now knew his whole childhood had vanished and it was impossible to get it back. The boy frantically called out to his sister to make the doctor keep his hand on. The boy?s body must have instantly gone into shock and not felt the absence of the hand. When the doctor arrived he gave him some ether to make him go to sleep. The little boy began to lose his pulse and soon he was a stranger to the world. The people surrounding the boy never expected the loss of his hand to tragically end the little boy?s life. • 15. The Impact Of Globalization On Business Activity... Globalisation, in the most basic sense, could be defined as the growth of business activity communications and movements of individuals over the national, political and geographic boundaries (Johnson et al. 2014). According to Hill, there are two main facets of globalization, includes globalization of markets and production (Hill, Cronk, Wickramasekera, 2014). The historically different and distinctive national markets are integrating into a single huge global marketplace in which the perceptions and preferences of customers in different countries are beginning to unite as a single global standard; examples are McDonald s hamburger (US), IKEA furniture (Sweden). The globalization of production allow firms to locate products and services from different sites around the globe in an attempt to make benefits of dissimilarities in the price and quality of elements of production, thus allowing them to compete more efficiently against their competitors; an example is Boeing s 777 and 787 Dreamliner commercial aircrafts (Hill, Cronk, Wickramasekera, 2014). According to Hill, globalisation is occurring because the advances in technology that have allowed people, goods, resources, money and data to travel around the globe from different locations faster than before; moreover, the reductions in trade and investment barriers have significantly increased business activities between states. You go to work, work your set hours and get paid for it. That suggests a certain amount of stability. You know that paycheck will come so that you can pay your bills. That s the up side of working a traditional job. Also with your traditional job, you may be in a field you really enjoy. You could be a medical professional, working in a doctor s office, or perhaps even in social work. Those types of jobs can be rewarding in themselves, especially when you get to help people when you are working. That is another good thing about working a regular job. But, when you think of it, there are a lot of down sides too. Your 9 to 5 job may not offer you a lot of room for advancement, which also means that your pay scale may be limited. • 17. Anorexia Nervosa And Bulimia Nervosa Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa are a few of the most common disorders struggled with today. Anorexia Nervosa is a condition of the intense fear to gain weight, which results in consistent lack of eating. Bulimia Nervosa, involves frequent episodes of binge eating followed by throwing up because of fear of gaining weight. The mortality rate for anorexia is the highest of all mental disorders yet the genetic factors relating them were not a huge concern to look into. It is easy to think that Anorexia and Bulimia are mentality induced only, but there are indeed genetic factors related despite how small the evidence may be. Personality disorders are heritable, and are commonly developed after an eating disorder or a large reason someone develops one. The study of serotonin, a compound found in Bulimia, Anorexia and depression, can be passed down through genes and they play a small part in eating disorders worth acknowledging. Inheriting genes that make an individual athletic naturally can affect the chances of eating disorder. There is no evidence that one particular gene could cause an eating disorder, but there are various traits and levels of compounds that when inherited, increase the likelihood of developing one. Personality disorders are more likely to develop from an eating disorder and are common preceding factors for one. Individuals exposed to stressful environments who are genetically more vulnerable, are at risk for developing an eating disorder. Narcissists ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This solid is called a precipitate, and the reaction is called a precipitation reaction. Precipitation reactions are used to make insoluble salts. In this experiment you will be exploring how concentration of reactant effect the amount of product (precipitate) being produced (RSC, 2015). Magnesium sulphate is known as Epsom salts. As expected in almost any scientific investigation, errors of both systematic and random nature may have occurred. These errors include, but are by no means limited to, inaccurate readings of measurement devices, significant alterations in environment temperature, and incorrect ratios used to produce the solution. First of all, the measuring cylinders used to measure the amount of liquid needed were read using human judgement as a sign of when to stop. If these readings were not taken from a perpendicular angle to the cylinder, the measurements may have been slightly inaccurate due to the observational error that could have potentially occurred. Another possible error was temperature alterations. As mentioned earlier, the temperature of the environment should ve been monitored and kept at standard room temperature (approx. 22°C). One of these conditions is called peptic ulcer disease (PUD) or also known as H. Pylori (Helicobacter pylori), which is the bacteria associated with PUD that causes the infection that leads to PUD. Almost two thirds of the world is affected with this infection, unbeknownst to the host (Moscou, page 421). This infection is introduced in the body through contaminated sources of food or water. It also can be transmitted through person to person contact by kissing. Once ingested, buffers are released and the bacteria is able to survive despite the acidic conditions of the stomach. Most people do not produce symptoms of the infection, however, there are some that may experience irritation and tissue damage from overproduction of gastric acids and peptic ulcers. Duodenal ulcers, which form in the upper region of the small intestines, are more common in younger people. Peptic ulcers tend to be more common with age as they are more likely to be infected. A Dog s Life: A Dog Eat Dog World Due to the strong comedic performance of Charlie Chaplin in his iconic film A Dog s Life, many forget the dark socio economic crisis that Chaplin was seeking to unveil throughout the film. To elaborate, this film was first released in the U.S. in 1918, the same year that World War I ended, so while the humor portrayed through Chaplin s character, Tramp, may have eased the sensibilities of a tired and war torn country, the whole film had dark socio economic undertones. Throughout this scene Tramp struggled to maintain his composure and dignity against the vast evils of a drafty bum; this scene certainly elicited giggles from the audience, but it also highlighted the woes of a man down on his luck who s only concern was survival. Voltaire s French philosophy included free thinking and the struggle for defense of civil liberties, in which he uses almost every known literary form, including novels, poetry, and performance art such as plays. For the most part, something that we can all agree on, is that we can see the racial differences in sports especially when it comes to basketball. When trying to find individuals who are good at playing basketball, most likely the team will consist of a majority of individuals who comes from an African descent. The question however is, why is this the case? I believe that there are two theories to explain this concept. The first theory that I feel like might be the answer is because, it is something that they have grown up and have done throughout several generations. When children see certain activities that are constantly repeated throughout their family, or those who look similar to them race wise, they feel like it is something that they have to do as well. If we view this situation in the eyes of a child who is African American, when he or she sees that there is a famous man from an African descent who is the best player within the entire basketball team, the child now believes that those who are black are better at playing basketball, which encourages the child to follow the footsteps of those who belongs in their race. Keynes also wrote other titles as well as ‘A Tract on Monetary Reform (1923) which was an attempt to secure a monetary policy instead of the gold standard. Michael Tugan Baranowsky s development was later an important part of Keynes s analysis. He said that the imbalance between savings and investments were at the heart of the business cycle. He said that the imbalance could not be overcome by changes in the interest rates, as he argued that there were reasons than the interest rate that motivated people to save. An even more important breakthrough was made by a Swedish economist. Knut Wicksell was the Swedish economist, and it was based on his ideas that Keynes developed the theory of national income which led to the Keynesian revolution. • 31. The Church Of King Henry VIII And The English Reformation The churches of the Anglican Communion have their historical roots in the English Reformation (Anglican History). The Anglican church originated when King Henry VIII split from the Roman Catholic Church in 1534 when Pope Clement VII refused to grant the king an annulment. The following overview derives from the New Catholic Encyclopedia. Henry VIII, the second s son of King Henry VII, was groomed for ruling the Church during his youth, with a broad education in theology, music, languages, and poetry. His elder brother was being prepared for the throne, but passed away from a sudden illness. Henry VIII took over as King, and became engaged to his brother s widow, Catherine of Aragon. Based on the Old Testaments ban on marrying the widow of your brother, King Henry VIII became concerned his marriage was cursed by God. He petitioned Pope Clement VII for a papal annulment, but the Pope immediately rejected the annulment. In 1531, he compelled the English clergy to accept him as head of the church of England, leading the Parliament to pass a series of laws depriving the Roman Catholic Church of any authority in England. King Henry VIII received the same legal authority over the English Church that the Pope operated over the Roman Catholic Church. Following this, Kind Henry VIII married Anne Boleyn, and split his church from the Roman Catholic Church, forming the original Anglican Church. The word Anglican originates from the ecclesia anglicana, a medieval Latin phrase that dates back to 1246. The Latin phrase means The English Church. The Church of England traces its history back to the 2nd century, when Christianity first arrived in Britain. The religion of Anglicanism believes that there is only one God, but there are three elements of the Divine: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Anglican theology tends to be biblical pastoral and apologetic, rather than dogmatic of confessional. The valid baptism in the Anglican religion is by water, in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. People baptized during infancy are expected to reaffirm their baptismal promise as they get older (Encyclopedia of Religion). Anglicanism is sometimes called the via media, the middle way, ... Nelson! Nelson! (Busbee, 2013, pg. 1). The South Africa Spingboks would subsequently move forward and win the game giving South Africans both white and black an opportunity to celebrate the victory together as not white or black, but rather as unified South Africans with a more hopeful future ahead. Authority is shown by the specific camera angles as Beowulf is shown in depth to the low angle shot and also the close up during their engagement between each other. With the camera committing a close up on Beowulf it shows the buildup of an important scene coming up and it builds the stage for the viewer. With the camera angle showing Beowulf with the low angle shot, it resembles his appearing larger and more dominant than the opponent. His opponent was given the high angle shot showing isolation and having a lesser importance compared to the king. An over the shoulder camera angle was also used, the camera goes through Finn s shoulder while he is holding his weapon up high and Beowulf s face is right in the center dominating his opponent just by verbally speaking to him. Secondly, body language is equally important as the camera angles are, as body language shows how a character responds to an event happening. Clarity Project Paper The Auditing Standards Board has launched the Clarity Project (Lindberg Seifert, 2011) which is an effort to make the U.S. Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (U.S. GAAS) easier to comprehend in the eyes of non public businesses. The Clarity Project will result in the first complete redrafting and recodification of U.S. GAAS since 1972 (Morris Thomas, 2011, para. 2). Four of the most significant changes are: changing the format of the standards so they are more consistent and readable, the wording in the auditor s report, group audit standards, and the authoritative status on the 10 generally accepted auditing standards (Morris Thomas, 2011). The Clarity Project also includes the process of integrating the U.S. GAAS with International Standards on Auditing (ISA). There are five key topics for comparison between ISA and U.S. Auditing Standards. The U.S. Auditing Standards is broken up between two groups: Auditing Standards Boards (ASB) and Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB). ASB is the authoritative group for non public companies. PCAOB is the authoritative group for public companies. PCAOB was formed from the Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX) (Lindberg Seifert, 2011). (Butler 77) The books Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler are both science fiction novels warning of a dangerous potential future. Frankenstein looks at the dangers of creating artificially intelligent beings, while Parable of the Sower explores human savagery in the collapse of American civilization as the result of poor political decisions. Each addresses concerns of the time they were published. While both are pessimistic views of the future and both require the suspension of disbelief, the concept of dystopia and utopia is definitely apparent in both novels. A dystopia being a world in which nothing is perfect and a utopia being a perfect world. Frankenstein addresses a timeless issue that modern science may soon make a reality, while Parable of the Sower creates an alarming depiction of conservative leadership. Frankenstein is an early depiction of the creation of artificial intelligence, an idea with great significance today. While artificially intelligent beings such as golems exist in myth as the product of magic, scientific progress has the true potential to make such beings. In modern times, the subject is frequently discussed with regard to computers being programmed to think, in an imitation of the human brain. • 43. My Teaching Ideas and Theory Applications I believe every child can succeed in mathematics, and it is my role to unlock this potential. I aim to teach in ways that help children develop cooperation, assertion and responsibility, as well as a good understanding of subject matter. I believe this can be achieved by creating a culture in the classroom that is built gradually on trust, with a common language, through rules that we create together, and by practicing procedures until they become nearly automatic. I aim to use the resources, materials, and curriculum requirements I have to work with, to engage my students in meaningful learning. I believe that children want to learn, and that it is motivating for pupils when they and their teacher s are enthusiastic about learning, too. It is my aim to adopt a social constructivist approach as a teacher. This will mean encouraging collaboration and work with other people; building on what children already know; scaffolding lessons to develop learning; improving mathematical language through communication; allowing children to experiment and explore new concepts for themselves. Yackel et. al. (1990) claim learning occurs not as students take in mathematical knowledge in ready made pieces but as they build up mathematical meaning on the basis of their experience in the classroom. • 44. Argumentative Essay On International Adoption Did you know that international adoption is a real argument between people? International adoption is a big topic between people; they either like it or hate it. Overall International adoption should be more acceptable considering the cost, the benefits, and various country exchanges. The history of international adoption comes from the Korean War. After the Korean War, Korean and biracial orphans were placed with American families. It started around the 1950 s. Many times in the past biological mothers would put their child up for adoption because of poverty, illness, or family crisis. However, international adoption has dropped more than 60% in the past decade ( International Adoption Facts: What You Need to Know ). In 2016 there were 5,370 International Adoptions. Then in 2015 American families adopted 5,648 children alone from other countries. In 2014 there were 6,438. In 2013 there were 7,092. In 2012 there were 8,667. In 2011 there were 9,319. In 2010 there were 11,058. As you can see the rate of international adoption is dropping every year by at least 1,000. This is caused because they are making it harder to adopt internationally ( Travel.State.Gov. ). International adoption is a good choice because most of the time the health of the children living in their home countries is not good. Most of the time they are very sick and need to leave their country otherwise they will die. When you go to pick up your child from their country, you can spend some time with your new kid before you leave to bring them to your house. It is also a good choice because you will make a big difference in a kid s life. In most of the adoptive cases you save the child s life ( 7 Reasons to Adopt a Waiting Child Internationally ). It is also a good choice because if you can not have your own kids, if you adopt internationally you don t have to struggle or pay for infertility. International adoption is what most American families/people do because American adoption can take over 2 3 years to be approved. Another good thing about international adoption is that you can get financial aid to help with the cost of adoption. Basically the good quality of international adoption is that it is a easier and faster ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It takes a shocking turn when she is made fun of during her youth adulthood, for have a big nose and fat legs. Futher into the poem she cut off her legs and nose and a very unusual illustration of her laying in a casket with an conclusion that express to every woman a happy ending . Within society a women desire to be flawless when it comes to looks. There s so much pressure and eagerness when it comes to a female fulfilling that image of looking like barbie. There is proof to this statement with the poet s use of irony, imagery and the impact of words having a bad outcome on the self esteem of females. Piercy s use of irony is detected within the title itself barbie doll . I envision it to revolve around the ideal barbie image alot of people make great efforts to achieve. However, this is where the true irony comes in. Barbies are popular for their unnatural slim bodies and perfect features and because they are played with by little girls, that image becomes the image teenagers and girls look for. Yet, in the poem the girl does not have barbie doll features. a fat nose on thick legs, (835) is what she was being teased about because she hit puberty. Then in the magic of puberty Puberty is when your body begins to change into an adult and there s nothing magical about that, especially for the little girl because it caused her to be teased for her appearences. In the last few lines of the poem, piercy refers to a happy ending it is a depressing thought. Consummation at last. To every woman a happy ending (24 25) is very sarcastic and pessimistic. She is basically saying that at last the end has come and its a feeling of pleasure since the girl got her wish, but at what cost did she become a barbie. The poet s use of imagery is all over the poem when we reflect on the girl childhood and how she was teased for her fat nose on thick legs she doesn t resemble a barbie doll with perfect nose and legs. Her good nature wore out like a fan belt. (15 16) There s imagery in this line because a fan belt breaks quickly when it comes in contact with oil. So the on going disapproval ... • 46. Drugs Should Be Banned For Professional Sports Drug Use In Sports Ninety eight percent of professional athletes say that they would take performance enhancing drugs if they didn t have a chance of getting caught. Performance enhancing drugs, or PEDs, or steroids, have been around since 776 BC when the Greeks would use them to improve their performance in the Olympic Games. During World War II, the Germans, including Hitler, would take steroids to make themselves stronger and more aggressive. The Americans, British, and Japanese also began to use steroids during World War II shortly after Germany. After the war, athletes started to get their hands on these drugs and began to use them to boost their performance. More recently, athletes such as bicyclist, Lance Armstrong and baseball player, Alex Rodriguez have been caught using performance enhancers. While there are some people that believe performance enhancing drugs should be illegal in professional sports, some say they should be legal because using the drugs should be the athlete s decision, not someone else s and steroid use could possibly even make the sport more fair than it is today. Athletes in professional sports should be allowed to make their own decision whether or not to use performance enhancers. If athletes prefer the gains in performance allegedly provided by the use of steroids and they understand that there is a chance that the steroids could have a negative effect on their bodies then what gives anyone the right to interfere with their choice? ... Is it physical appearance, personality or mentality? These three factors separate each individual from one another and it is what makes them different. Physical appearance, personality and mentality are made up from the same building blocks which are known as DNA sequences. DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid), is a self replicating material that is found throughout every living organism. It s a large macromolecule that transforms characteristics into life. DNA is made up two strands that run in opposite directions therefore they are known to be antiparallel. The lagging strand runs in the 5 3 direction while the leading strand run s in the 3 5 direction (International Baccalaureate Organization, 2009).
