Man s Search for Meaning
Viktor E. Frankl
Viktor Frankl s, Man s Search for Meaning, is a collection of his experiences in the concentration
camps of Auschwitz, Dachau, and Mausthausen. His book speaks a story upon survival and the
thought process to survive. Viktor Emil Frankl was born on March 26, 1905 in Vienna, Austria. He
received his MD and PhD degrees from the University of Vienna where he studied psychiatry and
neurology, while focusing on the areas of suicide and depression. In 1492, Frankl and his family were
arrested and sent to the Theresienstadt concentration camp. Over the span of three years, Frankl was
transported between four different camps. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Essentially logotherapy is described to be, a will to meaning (99). He believed that, striving to find a
meaning in one s life is the primary motivational force in man. (99). His approach to this idea is based
on three psychological and philosophical concepts: meaning of life, will to meaning and freedom of
will. According to Frankl, We can discover this meaning in life in three different ways: by creating a
work or doing a deed; by experiencing something or encountering someone; and by the attitude we
take toward unavoidable suffering and that everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last
of the human freedoms to choose one s attitude in any given set of circumstances . Logotherapy can be
very useful not just in my life, but any person s. Isn t this what most people want to figure out
anyways? Their meaning in life, their place and contribution that will give everlasting peace of
accomplishment once one grows old. Growing up I was told, Everything happens for a reason , that
different actions contribute into a larger outcome that us as mere mortals do not understand. But as
weak minded people, we break when we begin to suffer. We lose all hope and will to live. We disagree
on the idea that life has meaning and begin to feel like that it just an everlasting void with no point at

George Washington And Jefferson s Influence On The...
There are very few people who wouldn t think about George Washington,John Adams and Thomas
Jefferson when someone mentions the Founding Fathers. Without a doubt we can say that they were
three very important men who greatly affected the independence of our country. Out of three,
Washington and Jefferson are more talked about. They helped form this nation into a sovereign and
free country. Both were great men who did so much to shape and protect this country and it is
impossible to say that one did a better job than the other. Washington and Jefferson did what was best
for this county even though they had different views on many issues. Both grew up in Virginia, but
they were from two different class levels of living. Jefferson grew up in more famous and richer
family which gave him many opportunities in education. He went to college where he was introduced
to the writings of Isaac Newton,John Locke, and Francis Bacon which later influenced his political
views. After Jefferson graduated from college he worked as a lawyer and later got into politics. Prior
to his presidency he had many government positions such as Member of Virginia House of
Burgesses,Member of Continental Congress, Governor of Virginia,Secretary of State, just to list a few.
He was well educated in many different fields. Because Jefferson had very good writing skills he was
asked to write the main draft of Declaration of Independence, but when he was done it was edited so
much. Another writing,which Jefferson

The Medieval Religion Of Islam
During the 16th century, Christianity experienced a reformation in arguably one of the most defining
moments in its history, the church was splintered and it was seen that priests and pastures should have
more independent power, the reform was carried by spreading the holy bibles word and making people
read the words literally to see the religion more for what it is. This action helped to kick start the
modern era we now live in by abandoning the worst qualities of Christianity and also its traditions.
Many people believe this is the path the medieval religion of Islam should take; is this necessary and
why?
Firstly, let s look at the problems associated with Islam. It is a medieval religion founded in the 7th
century making it younger ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such will be their degradation in the world, and in the Hereafter theirs will be an awful doom in other
words this verse calls for the mass extermination or genocide of non Muslims and non believers, how
can you then call Islam a religion of peace? There are hundreds of other verses and extracts of which I
could highlight however I think it will be more beneficial to point out the major misconceptions of
Islam and also the best way of going about a reformation.
Following on from my previous points, another catastrophic problem with Islam is the fact that it
attracts a very large number of extremists. Actually according to all of the major intelligence services
across the world, 15 25% of total Muslims are radical, that means there are 225000000 people
dedicated to destroying our very way of life, this is a significantly larger number than any other
religion. You may then say that is still not a large enough percentage to represent 1.5 billion Muslims,
however it really does not matter about the so called peaceful majority. If we look back at history, the
Nazi party was a minority however they managed to kill over 6 million Jews in a horrific genocide,
here the peaceful majority did not matter. The communist regime was coordinated by a minority;
however they killed in excess of 50 million people yet again

Stanford Prison Experiment Effect
Hello, Dr. Chambers, Classmates and Readers of this post
The Impacts of Improper Methodology and Ethics While Researching
The Wakefield Factor
Versus
The Stanford Prison Experiment
Although harm is harm, harm can be measured. From my own point of view, the immunization study
with respect to Dr. Wakefield and his 12 colleagues, led to the most harm and it is one of the greatest
ethical abuse in the history of scientific research (Rao, S. T. S, Andrade, C, 2011). However, the
Stanford prison experiment is as well harmful. It causes psychological trauma on all participants (the
researchers inclusive). Moreover, the Standford prison experiment is a worth doing experiment as it
teaches how situations can structure human behavior (Leithead, ... Show more content on

also faulty from my own point of view. They would not have published the result of the research done

the curiosity of journalists and media spreading the news about the result of the research that MMR

The Characteristics Of Lady Macbeth
The aggravating problem releases the darkness out of Macbeth and the feminine qualities of Lady
Macbeth and in this worsen situation it shows how differently reciprocate to the problem and how it
changed their character. In Act Three has a huge twist between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. As
Macbeth said to himself, To be thus is nothing;/ But to be safely thus (III.i.ll.52 52), Macbeth becomes
more aware of the situation than from the last two acts, wherein he s being careless and letting Lady
Macbeth tell him what to do. From this situation he became more straightforward and bold of his
actions; like killing Banquo and Fleance is not a problem for him unlike killing Duncan where he
suffered from fear of his own desires. The reason of this pace ... Show more content on

From the first two act she was very pushy, persuasive, and optimistic even they were going through a
difficult situation. But in this act she is very different and she has no control anymore over Macbeth.
The reason is she s only good at planning things, but when things don t go well with her plans, she
became anxious and lost control of things. Lady Macbeth s feminine qualities becomes visible and she
acts more as a lady where she only comfort Macbeth throughout the entire act three and telling him to
sleep (rest; III.iv.ll.173). And especially Lady Macbeth only acquired masculine qualities like cruelty
from the first act because she asked it from evil spirits, she is not a natural evil and in the end she can t
contain and maintain those dark qualities. Therefore for the conclusion: as the situation becomes out
of control, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth changes their character throughout act three. Macbeth
becomes more bold on his actions and not thinking twice about killing Banquo and Fleance. Unlike
for Lady Macbeth she realized that out of all what they had done, they are still not happy and now
living in anxious that one day a big karma will kill her and her

Stereotypes In Walter Dean Myers The Glory Field
A hero is an ordinary person who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming
obstacles. This quote by Christopher Reeve illustrates overcoming obstacles similar to those described
in The Glory Field by Walter Dean Myers. This historical fiction story is about the Lewises, that all
started with Muhammad, who was brought to North America in 1753, as a slave. Numerous traits were
passed down from Muhammad to his descendants. Each Lewis is characterized by obstacles they
experienced and overcoming: Elijah provides for his family, Luvenia overcomes stereotypes, and
Sheppard fights against his drug addiction. In the 1900 section, readers learn about Elijah Lewis, an
immature, playful child who learns that his family could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Sheppard doesn t want to go, he feels like an outsider compared to his strong, independent, brave, and

two sides to it, [he] said, ... [o]ne side of all this How great is the Lewis family stuff is how all you
uppity people are doing so good. The other side is the rest of us (314). He makes this comparison
because he feels he does not meet the expectations of a Lewis man since he is a drug addict. Shep has
never really been a good representation of a Lewis, living in a man s shelter and having no one to help
him, has lead him to being depressed, which drugs take away the

Speech On Water Conservation
November 14, 2017 Dear reader, Can you imagine getting sick every single time you drink water from
your sink? That is something I have had to experience for about 14 years of my life. My country has
been suffering from really bad water conservation since forever. Rivers turn grey, fish are lacking...
That is a reality the D.R.C. has to face daily. Living there made me realize how important water
conservation truly is and I would like to tell you about it. According to the document Water Is Life ,
aquatic organisms (including insects) are indicators of water quality. I recently went to a creek in
Kentucky to observe its water quality. One of the things I noticed in that creek were a few mayflies,
which are one of the water quality s indicators I mentioned above. My class and I went into that creek
accompanied by 2 professionals who taught us that a healthy stream should have a lot of mayflies in it.
The creek I visited didn t have enough of them to be labeled as healthy . Also, trash is a big problem in
water conservation. I did not see any trash in the stream which is really good and I guess it is mainly
due to the stream regularly being treated. People in this area are pretty aware of how big of an impact
littering has. Just think about it. This water is constantly going to be use and reused. A lot of countries
in Africa are still completely unaware of how much impact littering has on water. What a lot of them
do not know is that just because your river s water is not

Quiet Boy Themes
In addition to the idea that the Cullen s express devout loyalty to one another, it is also important to
note that they possess extreme self control in all that they do. Even from the founding days of The
Cullen s, their rule about not eating human flesh demonstrates extreme self control. Every single day
the vampires struggle between their greatest desire, human blood, and peacefully existing in a mortal
community. This overarching theme of resisting their craving, then is played out in several details in
the novel. One specific example is when Edward restrains from his initial lure towards Bella is when
he switches out of her biology class (Meyer, Twilight, 89). In an awkward, quiet boy way that Edward
depicts perfectly, he avoids Bella ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In one instance when Edward and Jacob were working together, Jacob was taunting Edward by
creating inappropriate romantic thoughts in his head about Bella. Edward, having the capability to
read minds, was infuriated, but restrains from killing Jacob (Meyer, Eclipse, 494). Although self
control is a quality that has been proven to be trained and can improve over time, similar to the way
Carlisle is immune to blood almost completely, there is also research that shows that individuals who
are in love are more likely to demonstrate self controls that individuals who are in lust (Minjung). In
Minjung s article, How Love and Lust Influence Self Control, he discusses this debate. He says
Forster et al. explored various possible differences between people who were primed with love versus
those who were primed with lust; and the only difference they found was in temporal perspectives
(Minjung). What Minjung means by this is that when researching love stricken versus lust stricken, he
found that the love individuals had the temporal perspective that was focused more on the future,
while the lust individuals did not think about the

The Need For Music Education Essay

The Need for Music Education
As society continues to progress throughout time, the common intelligence rates of the average
student seems to be diminishing throughout the years. The lack of progress in the nation s schools may
be a resultant of less brain stimulation and the lower expectations that linger around society as a
whole. With that in mind, there remains to be an abundance of effective ways in which the stimulating
of children s brains can influence a natural increase in the average students intelligence and student
productivity. With the addition of music education in schools, students can potentially gain many
unconscientious abilities to perform better in school and on standardized tests that may dictate their
futures. Scientists have proven that listening to music, specifically the classical genre of music,
improves spatial temporal reasoning which is the ability to move objects within the mind to solve
multi step problems. It has also been proven that students who endure through the complexities of
some form of musical training have seemingly higher intelligence quotient (IQ) levels. Furthermore,
there is evidence which proves that students who not only studied music but also continued their
studies for one or more years had a meaningful increase in SAT scores than those that did not. In
attempts to increase average intelligence, natural improvement of students, student productivity, and
the ability to reason,

Detox Recovery Case Study
For most addiction problems, detox is the first step towards recovery. A successful detox program
holds the key to patients being properly prepared to receive treatment. When the body and mind are
free of residual substances, the patient becomes better able to concentrate and commit to therapy.
Once you have cleared your alcohol detox treatment, you need to focus on finding a reputable
treatment center.
How to Find a Reputable Treatment Center
You won t find advertisements for alcohol treatment centers on TV. Your first and best way to find a

Sweat By Zora Neale Hurston Analysis
In Zora Neale Hurston s short story Sweat and her essay How It Feels to Be the Colored Me,
illustrates how women are marginalized and treated, but had these texts been written at a different
time, place, language, or to a different audience, it would differ.
In Sweat , Delia Jones was being physically and emotionally abused by her husband Sykes Jones. Not
only was she an African American, but she was a woman that lived in the 1920s. She had no power.
Despite the amount of abuse she suffered, she can not leave because of the circumstances she is in.
She works for a white man, which her husband is upset about, while he does nothing at all. ...Mah tub

There is still discrimination towards African Americans but to a certain extent. Discrimination in the
1920s was much worse, but Zora Neale Hurston is an unapologetic black women, and instead of being
angry, ashamed African American, she expresses it. She doesn t let her skin color define her either,
because she isn t just African American, she s much more than that. She s herself. If this text were
written to a specific audience, like African Americans, some might be confused as to why be her

at all, she is merely astonished that she people are angered, and bothered by the fact that she s black. I
do not belong to the sobbing school of Nergohood... (64) I am too busy sharpening my oyster knife.

Influence of Ww1 on the Artwork of Early 20th Century
On August 1st 1914, Germany declared war on Russia, and on the 3rd, declared war on France.
Starting at the top of the previous page the first piece of artwork I chose to review is Max Beckmann s
piece Der Kriegsausbruch (Declaration of War), created in 1914 as the declarations of war had just
been announced. This is a drawing depicting the reaction of passers by in Berlin to the news of war
being declared. I chose this piece specifically because of the sketchy style of drawing. I find that the
looseness of his lines give the piece a feeling of anxiousness or even stress that I imagine many of the
citizens depicted in the piece were feeling at the time. The second piece I chose was created by artist,

Procedure: First, we began the lab with the chromatography strip positioned 152 mm tall and 19 mm
wide. Using a ruler and pencil, we drew 15 mm from the bottom of the paper across the width. We

The, we measured 20 mm from the top of the strip and folded across the width of the strip. These few
steps were repeated with a second strip. Next, the red and purple dyes were obtained. Using 2 clean

strips were carefully hanged into the 2 flasks with the sample side down. We made sure to keep the
sample spots above the level of the solvent. Afterwards, we placed the watch glasses back on top. The
chromatography was allowed to develop. We recorded observations of dye samples as the solvent
traveled up. When the solvent was within 1 to 2 cm of fold in strip, the run was stopped by removing
strips from flasks. With a pencil, we lightly drew a line to mark the distance the solvent has traveled,
which is called the solvent front. Using a ruler, we measured the distance from the pencil line at the
bottom of the strips to the solvent front and recorded our observations in mm. Lastly, the shape of
each dye bands was traced with a pencil to mark its locations on the strips. The distances in mm that
each dye band traveled were measured and recorded. we made sure to measure from the bottom of the

Reaction Paper About Mermaids
Mermaids those half human, half fish sirens of the ocean are fabulous ocean animals recorded on
oceanic societies since time immemorial. The name comes from mer meaning sea, and the male
version is called Merman. But can such a creature really exist? Between a myth and a reality, the
Mermaids topic has raised a lot of conflicts and questions. People wondered how such a creature could
be real. A lot of Researches were made, a lot of fossils were observed, in order to find answers. From
Greek mythology to sailors testimony, Mermaids have various hypothesizes.
Mermaids are creatures presented in almost every culture across the world as beautiful women who

The most prevalent myth was that Mermaids attract sailors by their beautiful voice, and when sailors
arrive, they face their destinies. In other words, they can be carriers of terrible fortune, capable of
causing storms and slaughtering people. However, some Greek myths described Mermaids as helpful
to everyone; when they were in a decent state of mind, they would safeguard people. In a silvery cave,
live the golden haired Nereids or sea nymphs that helped sailors fighting perilous storms. (A mermaid
and a magic comb)
Moreover, mermaids are too frequently said to be able to love humans after which they set out to
discover a cure to get freed of their fish tail for legs.
But does Mermaids really exist?
Ichthyologist made a lot of researches on Mermaids, including looking at fossils and sea history. They
found no evidence of aquatic humanoids. They added that what sailors saw was probably the Mentees
creature , which has the same size of humans. No one has ever captured a Mermaid. . In addition, the
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration posted a statement on its website denouncing the
supposed existence of the half human, half fish beings. No evidence of aquatic humanoids has ever
been found.

Printing Press Vs Steam Engine
The printing press and steam engine have had major impacts on our society. Steam engines use hot
steam from boiling water to drive a piston back and forth. The movement of the piston is then used to
power a machine or turn a wheel. The printing press is a mechanical device for producing many copies
of a text on paper. Both of these inventions have had amazing impacts on our society. The steam
engines were invented by Thomas Savery. The steam engine has helped to power the Industrial
Revolution. Before steam power, most factories and mills were powered by water, wind, horse, or
man. Water was a good source of power, but factories had to be located near a river. Both water and
wind power could be unreliable as sometimes rivers could dry up during a drought or freeze during the
winter and wind didn t always blow. Steam power allowed for factories to be located anywhere. It also
provided reliable power and could be used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The printing press is important because it makes the mass production of printed materials possible.
For thousands of years prior to the invention of the printing press, all works in the history of human
writing could only be copied by hand or by inefficient forms of block printing, time consuming and
laborious processes that commanded high fees. The printing press dramatically reduced the time and
expense of copying works and paved the way for the democratization of knowledge. These two recent
inventions have had many impacts in our lives today. Without the steam engines we would not have as
many factories. This could result in less production for our basic necessities. The printing press is also
very important because without it everyone would have to copy things with hand. This process could
discourage many authors and writers and make it difficult for their audience to sometimes read their
works. This advancement s in technology have had many positive and effective impacts on our

What Is The Purpose Of The Lottery
The Lottery , a short story by Shirley Jackson, features a small town during the highly anticipated
lottery. The lottery is an annual event, organized by Mr. Summers, the jovial man who runs the coal
business. It is a highly important time, as the whole town comes to the town square on the day of the
lottery. The guidelines are quite simple: everyone takes a slip of paper out of the symbolic black box,
and the slip of paper with the black mark carved on it, is the lucky winner . But the town s definition
of the lottery is different一usually, a lottery is a valuable thing to win. But when Tessie Hutchinson,
the lucky winner gets her reward by getting stoned to death by the rest of the villagers, it is clear that

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of The Song Dynasty
As just stated so did the Northern Song clan members set up a capital in Hangzhou. Instead of
Northern Song so would they now be called Southern Song. Hangzhou back then was a wealthy
trading city and the Song rulers retained their domain south of the Huai River along with most of the
population at that time. They also managed to retain big southern merchant cities and therefore a new
period of prosperity began. A priority in Southern Song was foreign trade, and the government
constructed merchant ships and improved harbor facilities. Xiamen, Quanzhou and Guangzhou were
big seaports. The Southern Song merchant ships sailed as far as India and Arabia. The trade allowed
the Southern Song empire to continue to be prosperous although they had lost a lot of their land. The
government ended up building a navy to protect the merchant shipping. Passle wheel ships were built
that were faster than regular boats ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The thing which made the cultural propagation fluid from dynasty to dynasty was that the Chinese
mpires had a common written language for 2000 years. no matter what they spoke so would they be
able to read texts. Therefore by requiring candidates for official positions to pass exams by testing
their knowledge of the Neo Confucian texts, the court would be ensured that their officials were
exceptionally intelligent and could communicate in this very difficult literary language. The
government system had of course its advantages and disadvantages. The bureaucrats for an example
studied the same works on social behavior and philosophy. That promoted unity and the normalization
of behavior through the empire and during the times of dynastic change. The scholar bureaucrats had a
common base of understanding after all and they passed on these political and philological ideals to

Migrant Farm Workers
Migrant farm workers come to Canada to give themselves a better work opportunity and they believe
that will get the same rights as a Canadian. Globalization has allowed many of these migrant workers
to receive an indefinite status which allows many of these individuals rights that starts problems for
citizenship and human rights. What happens is the Canadian citizenship and international human
rights have allowed these migrant workers to come to work, but these workers find it difficult to
secure their rights that have been organized by SAWP. Gabriel and Macdonald (2014) found that
struggle begins with Canada because they use human rights laws that is embedded into the domestic

They are alienated as outsiders of Canadian citizenship because they are not a citizen or a member of
the Canadian community, but they do not realize it is just an illusion that has been shown to them.
This also means that these migrant workers are not part of the Canadian society and are excluded for
any rights that a citizen of Canada would have. Gabriel and MacDonald (2014) acknowledges that
Canada s immigration view on migrant worker is referred to as precarious status, which means
programs like SWAP use this status for many of the migrant farm workers because they cannot be a
permanent resident, have the lack of rights and entitlements, and cannot bring any family to Canada.
Due to globalization, there has been a citizenship gap that has been created which allows certain
individuals to have the right to have claims, entitlement and status. This is not universal because
again, migrant farm workers are alienated and excluded from this right. When looking at the struggles
of migrant farm workers face for citizenship rights and human rights, there is correlation that these
struggles are use against them to help Canada secure rights of agricultural

Essay On Non-Sided Perception
Can an expert or a non expert communicator change the attitude of an individual using a two sided

Using messages that were either one sided or two sided conveyed by an expert and a non expert. The
aim of the study was to measure the change in attitude of individuals. Using healthy eating as the topic
of discussion. By using a questionnaire that is then scored by the participant on the semantic scale on
their attitude towards the messages. The results provided were insignificant this could be derived by
many possible reasons. As an overall conclusion from the evidence obtained remain inconclusive as

(2000); Holdsworth, Raymond et al. (2004), it was stated that having some form of knowledge of
healthy eating increases the chances of behaviours and attitudes changing. As experts such as doctors,
nutritionists, fitness gurus etc. have a better understanding of healthy eating providing a two sided
communicator expertise message. Than non expert communicators as they provide information based
on opinion.
Many individuals are more reluctant adhere to the messages provided by these experts. Therefore,
their attitude towards healthy eating is most likely to change regardless of their status in society. The
messages conveyed can impact on an individual through facts. Tesser, Martin and Mendolia (1995)
created a study thinking about a person who did something nice led that person to be evaluated more
favourably than when distracted from thinking, whereas thinking about a person who was insulting led
to more negative evaluations then when distracted. This is believed to change the attitude of an
individual through bias thinking. Which is a factor that influences the change in attitude of
individuals.
As the expert has prior knowledge and has enough sufficient information to encourage the individual
to change their attitude towards healthy eating. By providing them with non bias messages. However,
Forgas, 1995; Petty et al (1993) believe that when motives bias thinking, people actively try to

Theoretical Frameworks For Counselling Offer Guiding...
Theoretical frameworks in counselling offer guiding perspectives and direction informing professional
practice. As a practitioner I am drawn to post modernist approaches that position the human
experience as a social construction, and reality as a result of perception, language and culture ( ).
Embedded however within that social construction for me is the necessity to consider the broader
social and political climate and issues of power that may play a role in the human experience. As a
counsellor, I would like to align with a therapeutic approach that values the diversity and experience
of multiple realities, and that supports clients in finding their power both within and outside the
counselling session. Embracing the client counsellor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Armed with this new awareness, the therapeutic process from a feminist perspective was
reconceptualized to include an emphasis on social and political forces and an acknowledgement of
their role in disempowerment for women (Brown, 2010). Additionally, the seed of creating a more
respectful and humanistic approach to the counselling relationship was planted. Raising the
consciousness of clients around power and focusing on societal transformation rather than individual
adjustment became the identify of feminist therapy and to what Lerner (1993) referred to as the
feminist consciousness . This perspective afforded practitioners a new way to view problems
presented in therapy.
Enns (2004) highlighted two such new views related to client problems. First, the perspective that, the
personal is political emphasized that problems arising for women within therapy cannot be
disconnected from the larger social and political context. To consider problems in therapy solely on an
intrapersonal level is to perpetuate a blame the victim orientation. Therefore, it was essential that an
integrated analysis of oppression was explored. Second, problems and symptoms may be conceived of
as ways of coping and surviving oppressive circumstances. Anxiety may be reframed, not as the result
of a suppressed unconscious or the inability to cope, but rather as a reasonable response to sexisms,
violence or

Elwood Reid Analysis
Revision Statement The revision process is never easy to begin, but Professor Delp s comments were
definitely a great starting place. The main suggestions were to make sure that everything was in
present tense, cutting down on wordy passages, and correcting some stiff language. I began by
rereading the introduction, and I quickly realized that most of my sentences were awkward and not
connected. The fact that I had misused a semicolon did not help at all. I decided to rewrite my
introduction, making it more straightforward and connecting the universal idea of people doing bad
things to the specific situation of Elwood Reid better. As I continued reading the rest of my paper, I
realized that much of my wordiness and awkward language was due to the fact that I lacked deeper
analysis. To make up for it, I was repetitive with my ideas and just tried to say them in different places
with different words. I could have focused more on how the imagery demonstrated that Reid was
dehumanized, why he chose to use that imagery at that particular point in the essay, and how it all
connected back to him wanting to belong. To help with this, I added another quotation in my first body
paragraph. This quotation also depicted the violence on the field that Reid wanted to show his readers,
but it also explained why Reid played in the savage way that he did. ... Show more content on

car, I asked my mother in an out of breath tone, where we were going and she replied to the stadium,

Chocolate Syrup and Milk
Introduction: We were testing the solubility of the chocolate syrup brands while being stirred in whole
milk. Our purpose is to see which of the major brands of syrup is most soluble and for what reason.
This is important to our daily lives because it makes us aware of what types of materials we are
ingesting and this applies to our experiment by seeing which of the ingredients take longer to dissolve.
Information known is all brands are known to dissolve in milk but they all use different ingredients
and they will cause a difference in the time it takes to dissolve. New information that will be gained
from this experiment is which ingredients inside chocolate syrup will take the longest to dissolve,
from the type of sugars in it to the syrups. We expected the Nesquik to dissolve the fastest because it
did not contain any high fructose corn syrup while the other brand of syrup did. Also we observed
from the syrups that nesquik was very thin, while the others were very thick and slow in behaviour.
Our hypothesis is that the Nesquik will disintegrate the fastest in the milk because it lacks High
Fructose Corn Syrup.

Animal Experimentation And The Medical Field
Every year in high school, the discussion about animal experimentation would be brought up either in
a Science or English class. The discussions would last about three quarters of a period, and they would
go nowhere because nobody could agree whether it was a good or bad thing to do. I would always be
in the middle of the debate because, I believed that it was a good thing. I am for animal
experimentation because it has revolutionized the medical field, regulates the overpopulation of
certain animal species in the environment, and follows a certain set of laws set by the Animal Welfare
Act. The first reason I support animal experimentation is because it has revolutionized the medical
field. For thousands of years there have been reports of animal experimentation throughout the courses
of history. Ancient Greek philosophers such as Aristotle (384 322 B.C.E.) observed and manipulated
numerous animals, establishing that mammals in particular resembled humans to the extent that they
could act as stand ins. (Bruce Jennings) As Bruce Jennings described, animal experimentation has
been around since the great historians. Also, one hundred years after Aristotle made the discovery that
the human and animal anatomy were similar, a physician made a miraculous discovery. The Roman
physician Galen (199 129 B.C.E.)...tied off the utters from a cow to show they channeled urine from

Organizational Structure And Its Impact On Organizational...
Wilfredo Hernandez
Prof. Coomber
SG 91
Over the past few years many changes have been made by organizations, in the way that they do
business. One of these changes has been going from rigid and centralized organizations, to now taking
advantage of flexible and decentralized structures. An organizational structure outlines the way the job
tasks are formally divided, grouped, and coordinated. The effect a decentralized structure has on
managers and employees is that, the gap between who can make the decision has been spread. With a
decentralized structure the process of decision making comes down to the manager that is closest to
the action. The impact on organizational strategies has been that organizations have to adapt to the
new structures to fit in to be able to compete more efficiently and effectively.
Firstly, one of the common organizational designs we see today is the simple structure. The simple
structure design has a low degree of departmentalization, wide spans of control, centralized in a single
person, and little formalization. Examples of organizations that use the simple structural model are
small retail stores, and electronic firms run by a hard driving entrepreneur. Small businesses usually
use the simple structure, these are businesses that usually have only two or three vertical levels, a
loose body of employees, and the decision making process is centralized. The advantage of using the
simple structure lies in its simplicity, of being fast, flexible

A fuming chamber is when you take any type of super glue, and put it into the chamber. Then we put
the object into the chamber and turn it on, and leave it in there for about twenty minutes. When the
object is done in the chamber, we will then take it out of the chamber and dust it with the regular
powder to find the print. Then we will use the tape to lift the print from the object. Humans are not the
only living creatures that have fingerprints. Primates have fingerprints too. The Koala has fingerprints
that are very similar to fingerprints from a human, that it is hard to tell the difference. The Gorilla is
another primate that also has a fingerprint. The Gorilla has hands and feet that are very similar to a
humans, and ridges on them that allow them to lift and grab things. There are different types of
patterns for fingerprints, there are Arches, Loops, and Whorls. An Arch is found in five percent of
fingerprints encountered. There are two types of Arches a Plain Arch, and a Tented Arch. Therefore
they are the rarest. Loops are found in sixty to seventy percent of fingerprints encountered. Therefore
they are the most common. Whorls are found in twenty five to thirty five percent of fingerprints
encountered. There are four types of fingerprints, the Plain Whorl, Central Pocket Whorl, Double
Loop Whorl, and the Accidental Whorl. When someone is arrested, they must be fingerprinted even
drunk drivers and drug users. If the

Math Knot Theory and Celtic Knots
l Ve always had an interest in Celtic culture. I love the traditional clothing and dancing, but my
favorite part has always been the symbolism and beauty of Celtic Knots. I wondered where the knots
originated and how they were created so symmetrically, which led me to the mathematical study of
knot theory. So my question now is, How has the knot theory in mathematics influenced and shaped
the tradition of Celtic Knots? Knots in the real world are easy to define and see, such as tying a
shoelace or a rope, but knots in the mathematical world are a bit different. These knots are joined at
the end, making them one continuous line, unable to be pulled apart or untied. They can be described
in mathematical terms as a circle that has been embedded in 3 D dimensional Euclidean space but in a
bit simpler language, a knot is created by putting a flat circle into 3 D space; therefore making it 3 D.
You can not just pull the circle up; that would create a cylinder, and you can not just round it out; this
would create a sphere. You must twist it until it intertwines, thus creating a knot. Knots can be
described in many different ways. For example; a common method of describing a knot is called a
knot diagram, which can be used to describe the many ways a knot can be drawn. A fundamental
problem is presented here though, due to the fact that you must determine when a knot is represented
by more than one description. A full algorithmic solution does exist to help solve the problem, but

Pearl Harbor And Pearl Harbor Similarities
I ll be comparing and contrasting the similarities and differences between Pearl Harbor and the attack
on the World Trade Center on 9/11. Although they have many differences, they had some huge
similarities. For example, both were huge tragedies that devastated the United States and left
thousands of innocent people dead or wounded. The first part of my essay will be my comparison
between the two tragedies. My second half will be the differences in these awful events. Some of these
similarities and differences you wouldn t even believe like the choices that president George W. Bush
made and what happened to all the ships the day that Pearl Harbor occurred. If you want to know what
happened keep reading. Aren t you the least bit curious? I would be if I were you.
On 9/11/2001 had even occurred George W. Bush received a memo that had been handed to him titled
Bin Laden determined to strike in the U.S. saying, he would be hijacking planes, and possibly
targeting New York City. Pearl Harbor could have been avoided as well if only Franklin D. Roosevelt
had been more serious about the memo he was given by the naval intelligence stating that Tokyo s
military and spy network was focused on Hawaii just three days before the attack on 12/07/1941.
The attack on Pearl Harbor resulted in a total loss of 2,343 casualties. A total number of servicemen
killed was 2,335 and 1,143 were wounded, a total of sixty eight civilians were also killed as well as
thirty five men

What Is Acting Ethically Wrong
In the YouTube video that I chose to describe, there are two gentlemen, Joe and Alex. Alex is an older
gentleman with long hair wearing a large, flowing shirt. Joe is a young man with short hair. He is
wearing a tailored black, business suit, a white shirt, and a tie. Joe is waiting to catch a flight at the
airport. Before his departure, he orders five doughnuts for five dollars at a coffee shop in the terminal,
and thinks to himself, This is an awesome deal . After he gets his order, he finds a table so he can sit
down and read the newspaper before his flight leaves. Not long after he takes a seat however, Alex
walks up and sits at the table across from Joe. As Joe is reading his newspaper, he hears a rustling.
When he puts his paper down ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Judgement can be wrong in many many different ways, instead of judging a person and assuming
something about them, we can start a friendly conversation with that person. For example, instead of
Joe judging Alex by his looks, he should have asked him questions like where he is from, where he
works, and so on. However, this is what society has taught us. It has taught us that, we need to look
good and presentable or we will be judged upon that. Also it is important upon how we act instead of
silently judging someone like in this video, it taught me that it is better to make a friendly
conversation than to look and judge, like they old saying do not judge the book by its cover .It has
taught me that we determine what is true and what is real based on how it appears in our perspective.
This assignment has taught me that reality and truth changes depending on our perspective. For
instance, the person in the video, Alex we may see him as a poor or old guy, but I know now that looks
matter may be important, but it is what is inside what really matters because you see how beautiful the
person really is by how he or she acts and

Analysis Of Canada s Aging Population
Canada is experiencing a rapid growth in aging population and it is not going to slow down anytime
soon. In 1851 there were about 65, 000 seniors in Canada and the number in 2014 is 5.57 million.[1]
In 2036 the elders will be over ten million and by 2051 one in every four Canadians will be a senior
[2].
Many believe that the aging population is a big crisis. Aging population does put pressure on the
government limiting financial resources particularly in the healthcare system. Half of the healthcare
system is used by seniors and it is expected to grow. (In text citation) Another economic impact is the
rise in taxes. If the retirement age doesn t change the people are exceeding the life expectancy and
there is going to be a lot of people

Background Hearts R Us (Hearts) is a private early stage R amp;D company in the final trial of a

which could be used as supplement to the HVS. For its considerations, Bionic received a seat on

Is the embedded derivative closely related? In the event it is, the contract cannot be bifurcated and
must be considered as a whole, though ASC 815 40 15 2 discusses contracts that are indexed to and
potentially settled in an entity s stock. Additionally, ASC 815 15 35 2 offers an alternative solution if
the embedded derivative cannot be reliably measured or identified, and that is to assign a fair value to
the entire contract, with gains and losses across reporting periods flowing through earnings. ASC 480
10 10 1 gives the objective of ASC 480 as the requirement to classify as a liability a freestanding
financial instrument that embodies obligations for the issuer. It states in ASC 480 10 15 3 that
freestanding financial instrument could include one with traits of equity and liability. It places a
restriction on these instruments in ASC 480 10 15 5 by disallowing features embedded in a financial
instrument that is not, in its entirety, a derivative, making the use of ASC 480 an all or nothing
proposition since the guidance encompasses the financial instrument in its entirety (ASC 480 10 25 1).
The contract between Hearts and Bionic contains obligations as defined by the ASC 480 that are
conditional and/or unconditional, such as the contingent redemption right. ASC 480 20 30 7 requires
fair value for financial instruments under ASC 480.

Unit 331 Understanding children and young person s Development. Assignment (Task)
Task D Report
Early identification of speech, language or communication delay is important for a child or young
persons well being. All practitioners have a responsibility to identify children s needs and intervene
with appropriate support as early as possible, to help children achieve the goals of Every Child
Matters and progress towards the Early Learning Goals. The importance of early language and
communication skills for children s later achievements is now well documented and the need to
provide support for children at this early stage is so that they can achieve their full potential. This
means recognising a child s difficulty quickly: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As most of a child s communication happens at home it is vital that close links are made between
professionals and family members/carers and to look at ways of supporting the child or young person
at home.
If a child or young person needs more than the support of the school environment, then a multi agency
team will be involved. This would involve the child s teacher, teaching assistant, the school SENCO,
qualified and experienced professionals, for example Speech and Language Therapists and most
importantly parents. This might be through a recognized programme such as the Nuffield Dyspraxia
Programme, Language through Reading or Social Use of Language Programme, or through a
combination of approaches tailored to suit the individual child or young person.
A child or young person with speech, language and communication delay will usually have a Multi
Element Plan (M.E.P.). If they do not seem to be making enough progress or they need a lot of extra
help the school SENCO will contact the Local Authority and ask them to carry out a statutory
assessment. This is only usually required for children who have the most significant and long term
special educational needs which require a very detailed assessment. It can be a long process and both
the school and parents are involved. If a statement of Special Educational Needs (SEN) is issued, this
will take

Mustang Compare And Contrast
The cars we drive say a lot about us. Alexandra Paul Transportation is a large concern in todays
modern world. Most individuals have opted to buy vehicles for their personal use. Most of these
vehicles consume gasoline and a smaller proportion is hybrid based. These two types of vehicles have
many similarities. both types of vehicles provide an important function to society. That function is to
provide people with a reliable form of transportation. Although these two types of vehicles have many
similarities, their differences are what distinguish them. Dealerships have one purpose only and that is
to sell you their car. Jetta s are safe and family oriented whereas Mustangs are bachelors sports cars.

The shiny blue mustang is behind her with the front wheel slightly turned and dark tints. This car is
also only two doors which means not that many people fit inside. The Jetta ad doesn t exactly show a
car, it shows a model of a sand car with a boy and girl playing in the back seat and a woman in the
front seat relaxing getting a tan. This ad shows that this is a family car because of the two kids playing
in the back seat, portraying that kids will be safe while the parents drive and wont have to be looking
back and forth between the road and the kids. On the bottom of the ad is where you see they are
advertising a Jetta and it says, getting there is just as fun . The Mustang ad shows a blue muscular
sports car at the beach with a half naked woman in front of the car. This ad shows that it is a single
mans car because of the half naked woman on the side of the ad. This car portrays the bachelor life
because it s a sports car with only two seats that is meant to speed. Only men would be attracted to
this ad because of the woman and the colors that they chose. The chose the color blue because it s
more of a masculine color. The background of the ad is a beach scenery that is relaxing and soothing
but contradicts the sports car because it s more of a reckless and dangerous type of

The Earl Of Rochester And Jonathan Swift
When reading Eighteenth Century literature it is clear that the concept of one s privacy was non
existent, particularly in poetry. Poets of this period were more aware of the growing public readership
they had as a result of developments in education, and people from each class were now able to access
poetry. This meant what was published had a greater impact on society, as poetry became increasingly
[...] a more public form of expression (Goring, P. p.64) for writer s opinions on political and private
matters. The Earl of Rochester and Jonathan Swift both portrayed the private world to this public
audience in their poetry, but through the use of satire. The issues they wrote about were so intimate
that it was essential for them to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An imperfect picture is created of Rochester s private world compared to his public life, and the
negative effects the early Eighteenth Century libertarian lifestyle has had on him. His demeaning
language and its comparison with an ideal scenario create the satire that is needed to bring Rochester s
private world into the public world.
Swift on the other hand is trying to expose the private world of a lady s dressing room, something new
to society at the time, and he does this through satirically comparing the public and private versions of
women. Tita Chico argues in Privacy and Speculation in Eighteenth Century Britain that there were
[...] exclusive privileges associated with the privacy of the gentleman s closet (p.42) which were now
seen as being threatened by women s dressing rooms. There was a feeling of fear about what women
might get up to in private and Swift exposes a satirised reality in his poem which [...] links women s
privacy with illegitimacy through grotesque images of the female body (p. 41). Throughout Eighteenth
Century literature, the use of a dressing room represented women as [...] theatrical and excessive

Holy Bible, Trinity, and salvation. To connect with people, the CT uses Jesus as a message and the
Holy Spirit as a guide. To connect with God and Jesus, the church utilizes prayer. Christ Tabernacle s
approach in worship is something modern and up to date. It incorporates new released songs to share
the word of God. The institution does not rely on a traditional setting of a church to serve God and
help people. Instead, the sermon is infused with live music and dancing that make the old members
reconnect with God and the new members be comfortable in seeking Him and Jesus. The institution

Frankl Viktor Frankl s, Man s Search for Meaning, is a collection of his experiences in the concentration camps of Auschwitz, Dachau, and Mausthausen. His book speaks a story upon survival and the thought process to survive. Viktor Emil Frankl was born on March 26, 1905 in Vienna, Austria. He received his MD and PhD degrees from the University of Vienna where he studied psychiatry and neurology, while focusing on the areas of suicide and depression. He believed that, striving to find a meaning in one s life is the primary motivational force in man. (99). His approach to this idea is based on three psychological and philosophical concepts: meaning of life, will to meaning and freedom of will. According to Frankl, We can discover this meaning in life in three different ways: by creating a work or doing a deed; by experiencing something or encountering someone; and by the attitude we take toward unavoidable suffering and that everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms to choose one s attitude in any given set of circumstances . • 3. George Washington And Jefferson s Influence On The... There are very few people who wouldn t think about George Washington,John Adams and Thomas Jefferson when someone mentions the Founding Fathers. Without a doubt we can say that they were three very important men who greatly affected the independence of our country. Out of three, Washington and Jefferson are more talked about. They helped form this nation into a sovereign and free country. Both were great men who did so much to shape and protect this country and it is impossible to say that one did a better job than the other. Washington and Jefferson did what was best for this county even though they had different views on many issues. Both grew up in Virginia, but they were from two different class levels of living. Jefferson grew up in more famous and richer family which gave him many opportunities in education. He went to college where he was introduced to the writings of Isaac Newton,John Locke, and Francis Bacon which later influenced his political views. After Jefferson graduated from college he worked as a lawyer and later got into politics. Prior to his presidency he had many government positions such as Member of Virginia House of Burgesses,Member of Continental Congress, Governor of Virginia,Secretary of State, just to list a few. He was well educated in many different fields. Because Jefferson had very good writing skills he was asked to write the main draft of Declaration of Independence, but when he was done it was edited so much. Another writing, which Jefferson ... • 4. The Medieval Religion Of Islam During the 16th century, Christianity experienced a reformation in arguably one of the most defining moments in its history, the church was splintered and it was seen that priests and pastures should have more independent power, the reform was carried by spreading the holy bibles word and making people read the words literally to see the religion more for what it is. This action helped to kick start the modern era we now live in by abandoning the worst qualities of Christianity and also its traditions. Many people believe this is the path the medieval religion of Islam should take; is this necessary and why? Firstly, let s look at the problems associated with Islam. It is a medieval religion founded in the 7th century making it younger ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Such will be their degradation in the world, and in the Hereafter theirs will be an awful doom in other words this verse calls for the mass extermination or genocide of non Muslims and non believers, how can you then call Islam a religion of peace? There are hundreds of other verses and extracts of which I could highlight however I think it will be more beneficial to point out the major misconceptions of Islam and also the best way of going about a reformation. Following on from my previous points, another catastrophic problem with Islam is the fact that it attracts a very large number of extremists. Actually according to all of the major intelligence services across the world, 15 25% of total Muslims are radical, that means there are 225000000 people dedicated to destroying our very way of life, this is a significantly larger number than any other religion. You may then say that is still not a large enough percentage to represent 1.5 billion Muslims, however it really does not matter about the so called peaceful majority. If we look back at history, the Nazi party was a minority however they managed to kill over 6 million Jews in a horrific genocide, here the peaceful majority did not matter. The communist regime was coordinated by a minority; however they killed in excess of 50 million people yet again ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Stanford Prison Experiment Effect Hello, Dr. Chambers, Classmates and Readers of this post The Impacts of Improper Methodology and Ethics While Researching The Wakefield Factor Versus The Stanford Prison Experiment Although harm is harm, harm can be measured. From my own point of view, the immunization study with respect to Dr. Wakefield and his 12 colleagues, led to the most harm and it is one of the greatest ethical abuse in the history of scientific research (Rao, S. T. S, Andrade, C, 2011). However, the Stanford prison experiment is as well harmful. It causes psychological trauma on all participants (the researchers inclusive). • 6. The Characteristics Of Lady Macbeth The aggravating problem releases the darkness out of Macbeth and the feminine qualities of Lady Macbeth and in this worsen situation it shows how differently reciprocate to the problem and how it changed their character. In Act Three has a huge twist between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. As Macbeth said to himself, To be thus is nothing;/ But to be safely thus (III.i.ll.52 52), Macbeth becomes more aware of the situation than from the last two acts, wherein he s being careless and letting Lady Macbeth tell him what to do. From this situation he became more straightforward and bold of his actions; like killing Banquo and Fleance is not a problem for him unlike killing Duncan where he suffered from fear of his own desires. The reason of this pace ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From the first two act she was very pushy, persuasive, and optimistic even they were going through a difficult situation. But in this act she is very different and she has no control anymore over Macbeth. The reason is she s only good at planning things, but when things don t go well with her plans, she became anxious and lost control of things. Lady Macbeth s feminine qualities becomes visible and she acts more as a lady where she only comfort Macbeth throughout the entire act three and telling him to sleep (rest; III.iv.ll.173). And especially Lady Macbeth only acquired masculine qualities like cruelty from the first act because she asked it from evil spirits, she is not a natural evil and in the end she can t contain and maintain those dark qualities. Therefore for the conclusion: as the situation becomes out of control, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth changes their character throughout act three. Macbeth becomes more bold on his actions and not thinking twice about killing Banquo and Fleance. Unlike for Lady Macbeth she realized that out of all what they had done, they are still not happy and now living in anxious that one day a big karma will kill her and her ... This quote by Christopher Reeve illustrates overcoming obstacles similar to those described in The Glory Field by Walter Dean Myers. This historical fiction story is about the Lewises, that all started with Muhammad, who was brought to North America in 1753, as a slave. Numerous traits were passed down from Muhammad to his descendants. • 8. Speech On Water Conservation November 14, 2017 Dear reader, Can you imagine getting sick every single time you drink water from your sink? That is something I have had to experience for about 14 years of my life. My country has been suffering from really bad water conservation since forever. Rivers turn grey, fish are lacking... That is a reality the D.R.C. has to face daily. Living there made me realize how important water conservation truly is and I would like to tell you about it. According to the document Water Is Life , aquatic organisms (including insects) are indicators of water quality. I recently went to a creek in Kentucky to observe its water quality. One of the things I noticed in that creek were a few mayflies, which are one of the water quality s indicators I mentioned above. My class and I went into that creek accompanied by 2 professionals who taught us that a healthy stream should have a lot of mayflies in it. The creek I visited didn t have enough of them to be labeled as healthy . Also, trash is a big problem in water conservation. I did not see any trash in the stream which is really good and I guess it is mainly due to the stream regularly being treated. People in this area are pretty aware of how big of an impact littering has. Just think about it. This water is constantly going to be use and reused. A lot of countries in Africa are still completely unaware of how much impact littering has on water. What a lot of them do not know is that just because your river s water is not ... Even from the founding days of The Cullen s, their rule about not eating human flesh demonstrates extreme self control. Every single day the vampires struggle between their greatest desire, human blood, and peacefully existing in a mortal community. This overarching theme of resisting their craving, then is played out in several details in the novel. One specific example is when Edward restrains from his initial lure towards Bella is when he switches out of her biology class (Meyer, Twilight, 89). In one instance when Edward and Jacob were working together, Jacob was taunting Edward by creating inappropriate romantic thoughts in his head about Bella. Edward, having the capability to read minds, was infuriated, but restrains from killing Jacob (Meyer, Eclipse, 494). Although self control is a quality that has been proven to be trained and can improve over time, similar to the way Carlisle is immune to blood almost completely, there is also research that shows that individuals who are in love are more likely to demonstrate self controls that individuals who are in lust (Minjung). In Minjung s article, How Love and Lust Influence Self Control, he discusses this debate. He says Forster et al. explored various possible differences between people who were primed with love versus those who were primed with lust; and the only difference they found was in temporal perspectives (Minjung). What Minjung means by this is that when researching love stricken versus lust stricken, he found that the love individuals had the temporal perspective that was focused more on the future, while the lust individuals did not think about the ... • 11. The Need For Music Education Essay Brandon Moore Haga Humanities 9 November 2016 The Need for Music Education As society continues to progress throughout time, the common intelligence rates of the average student seems to be diminishing throughout the years. The lack of progress in the nation s schools may be a resultant of less brain stimulation and the lower expectations that linger around society as a whole. With that in mind, there remains to be an abundance of effective ways in which the stimulating of children s brains can influence a natural increase in the average students intelligence and student productivity. With the addition of music education in schools, students can potentially gain many unconscientious abilities to perform better in school and on standardized tests that may dictate their futures. Scientists have proven that listening to music, specifically the classical genre of music, improves spatial temporal reasoning which is the ability to move objects within the mind to solve multi step problems. It has also been proven that students who endure through the complexities of some form of musical training have seemingly higher intelligence quotient (IQ) levels. Furthermore, there is evidence which proves that students who not only studied music but also continued their studies for one or more years had a meaningful increase in SAT scores than those that did not. In attempts to increase average intelligence, natural improvement of students, student productivity, and the ability to reason, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is a drawing depicting the reaction of passers by in Berlin to the news of war being declared. I chose this piece specifically because of the sketchy style of drawing. The movement of the piston is then used to power a machine or turn a wheel. The printing press is a mechanical device for producing many copies of a text on paper. Both of these inventions have had amazing impacts on our society. The steam engines were invented by Thomas Savery. The steam engine has helped to power the Industrial Revolution. Before steam power, most factories and mills were powered by water, wind, horse, or man. Water was a good source of power, but factories had to be located near a river. The printing press dramatically reduced the time and expense of copying works and paved the way for the democratization of knowledge. The lottery is an annual event, organized by Mr. Summers, the jovial man who runs the coal business. It is a highly important time, as the whole town comes to the town square on the day of the lottery. The guidelines are quite simple: everyone takes a slip of paper out of the symbolic black box, and the slip of paper with the black mark carved on it, is the lucky winner . But when Tessie Hutchinson, the lucky winner gets her reward by getting stoned to death by the rest of the villagers, it is clear that winning this lottery can t be a good affair... so what is the purpose of this lottery? The main suggestions were to make sure that everything was in present tense, cutting down on wordy passages, and correcting some stiff language. I began by rereading the introduction, and I quickly realized that most of my sentences were awkward and not connected. The fact that I had misused a semicolon did not help at all. I decided to rewrite my introduction, making it more straightforward and connecting the universal idea of people doing bad things to the specific situation of Elwood Reid better. As I continued reading the rest of my paper, I realized that much of my wordiness and awkward language was due to the fact that I lacked deeper analysis. To make up for it, I was repetitive with my ideas and just tried to say them in different places with different words. I could have focused more on how the imagery demonstrated that Reid was dehumanized, why he chose to use that imagery at that particular point in the essay, and how it all connected back to him wanting to belong. To help with this, I added another quotation in my first body paragraph. Our purpose is to see which of the major brands of syrup is most soluble and for what reason. Information known is all brands are known to dissolve in milk but they all use different ingredients and they will cause a difference in the time it takes to dissolve. New information that will be gained from this experiment is which ingredients inside chocolate syrup will take the longest to dissolve, from the type of sugars in it to the syrups. I am for animal experimentation because it has revolutionized the medical field, regulates the overpopulation of certain animal species in the environment, and follows a certain set of laws set by the Animal Welfare Act. The first reason I support animal experimentation is because it has revolutionized the medical field. For thousands of years there have been reports of animal experimentation throughout the courses of history. Ancient Greek philosophers such as Aristotle (384 322 B.C.E.) observed and manipulated numerous animals, establishing that mammals in particular resembled humans to the extent that they could act as stand ins. (Bruce Jennings) As Bruce Jennings described, animal experimentation has been around since the great historians. Also, one hundred years after Aristotle made the discovery that the human and animal anatomy were similar, a physician made a miraculous discovery. The Roman physician Galen (199 129 B.C.E.)...tied off the utters from a cow to show they channeled urine from the kidneys to the bladder, and he cut the spinal cord in different places to demonstrate the connections ... • 40. The Death Of Jacob Patrick Sommers Once upon a time in a land far, far away, there lived a farm boy, his name was Jacob Patrick Sommers. He was a tall, 17 year old boy with dark brown hair and bright blue eyes. Jacob lived with his younger sister, Lillian, his Mother and his Father. Although his family may not have had a lot of money, they were still very happy because they had each other. He lived in a quaint village with a population of only a few thousand people. The king had created this village for all the people who could barely afford to live. It was filled with people from all over the kingdom, and every now and then, a new house would be built and a new family would move in. The next morning, Jacob was up bright and early starting to pack some things that would be useful while he let Lillian sleep. He packed some fruit, bread, a couple of sweaters and as much water as they could carry alongside everything else. When Lillian woke up, they got some breakfast and took off on the mission to find their parents. Jacob how long have we been walking for? Lillian complains as Jacob looks at the sun. I don t know, I d say 2 hours maybe. responds Jacob simply. Just as Jacob is finished talking, they come across a forest. This forest is unlike any other, the trees are unusually thick, the beautifully scented flowers on the ground are off and on glowing a strong blue hue, and the bushes are covered in a berry Jacob doesn t seem to recognize. The two glance at each other, then slowly and cautiously embark into the mysterious forest. Hello friends! someone says as the kids are only a few steps into the forest. How are you today? Ah! They shout as they turn around to the source of the voice. Who are you and what do you want? Jacob questions the half man half horse. I am Clyde, Guardian of the Forest. ... • 41. Organizational Structure And Its Impact On Organizational... Wilfredo Hernandez Prof. Coomber SG 91 Over the past few years many changes have been made by organizations, in the way that they do business. One of these changes has been going from rigid and centralized organizations, to now taking advantage of flexible and decentralized structures. An organizational structure outlines the way the job tasks are formally divided, grouped, and coordinated. The effect a decentralized structure has on managers and employees is that, the gap between who can make the decision has been spread. With a decentralized structure the process of decision making comes down to the manager that is closest to the action. The impact on organizational strategies has been that organizations have to adapt to the new structures to fit in to be able to compete more efficiently and effectively. Firstly, one of the common organizational designs we see today is the simple structure. The simple structure design has a low degree of departmentalization, wide spans of control, centralized in a single person, and little formalization. Examples of organizations that use the simple structural model are small retail stores, and electronic firms run by a hard driving entrepreneur. Small businesses usually use the simple structure, these are businesses that usually have only two or three vertical levels, a loose body of employees, and the decision making process is centralized. The advantage of using the simple structure lies in its simplicity, of being fast, flexible ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Fingerprints Essay Fingerprinting is used for many things, such as a robbery, or at a crime scene. Fingerprints were first discovered in 1870 by Alphonse Bertillon, who was a French anthropologist. In 1892, Juan Vucetich had made the first criminal report using a fingerprint. In 1905 America used fingerprints for identification. When America started using fingerprints for identification they had to match the fingerprints manually when needed. When technology was able to enter fingerprints, and match them with anonymous ones, it helped identification immensely. Fingerprints are formed during the first, third to fourth months of fetal development. While growing (in the womb) the fingerprint and the ridges will expand. Humans are not the only living creatures that have fingerprints. Primates have fingerprints too. The Koala has fingerprints that are very similar to fingerprints from a human, that it is hard to tell the difference. The Gorilla is another primate that also has a fingerprint. • 43. Math Knot Theory and Celtic Knots l Ve always had an interest in Celtic culture. I love the traditional clothing and dancing, but my favorite part has always been the symbolism and beauty of Celtic Knots. I wondered where the knots originated and how they were created so symmetrically, which led me to the mathematical study of knot theory. So my question now is, How has the knot theory in mathematics influenced and shaped the tradition of Celtic Knots? Knots in the real world are easy to define and see, such as tying a shoelace or a rope, but knots in the mathematical world are a bit different. These knots are joined at the end, making them one continuous line, unable to be pulled apart or untied. They can be described in mathematical terms as a circle that has been embedded in 3 D dimensional Euclidean space but in a bit simpler language, a knot is created by putting a flat circle into 3 D space; therefore making it 3 D. You can not just pull the circle up; that would create a cylinder, and you can not just round it out; this would create a sphere. You must twist it until it intertwines, thus creating a knot. Knots can be described in many different ways. For example; a common method of describing a knot is called a knot diagram, which can be used to describe the many ways a knot can be drawn. A fundamental problem is presented here though, due to the fact that you must determine when a knot is represented by more than one description. A full algorithmic solution does exist to help solve the problem, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although they have many differences, they had some huge similarities. For example, both were huge tragedies that devastated the United States and left thousands of innocent people dead or wounded. The first part of my essay will be my comparison between the two tragedies. My second half will be the differences in these awful events. Some of these similarities and differences you wouldn t even believe like the choices that president George W. Bush made and what happened to all the ships the day that Pearl Harbor occurred. This would involve the child s teacher, teaching assistant, the school SENCO, qualified and experienced professionals, for example Speech and Language Therapists and most importantly parents.
