My Mom Outreach
My mom is a badass bitch, she is a strong, proud, takes no bullshit, First Nations woman. My mother s
name is Agnes Dawn Dustyhorn and she was born October 9th 1978. She grew up in an environment
where she was unrelentlessly discriminated for being first nations. She was a teenage mother who
managed to raise me while both, enrolled in school, and working, with the useless paperclip that was
my father. Eventually she became a successful career woman and now has an amazing job in white
bear. And I am going to go into more detail as to why she is a badass bitch.
Mom grew up here in Saskatoon, and she was raised in extreme poverty. She was born to a single
mother who became blind before having her; Her father as absent from her life. She was the youngest

I Have Long Advocated For Social Equality
I have long advocated for social equality and been aware of the prevalence of racism. However, my
forethought now seems insignificant compared to the degree of racism that James W. Loewen suggests
is indoctrinating the minds and classrooms of America s youth. Loewen takes readers on an
enlightening journey through his book, Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything Your American History
Textbook Got Wrong, that intends to expose the false claims and lack of information in standard
American high school history textbooks. He aims to set the record straight on how and why American
history is so misrepresented and why it is important to represent history accurately and not limitedly.
Throughout the book, he largely focuses on the shortcomings or outright fallacies of historical
textbooks in regards to racism, government, colonialism, and patriotism. Loewen serves this book to
bring about institutional change where he feels that it is needed and to stress the importance of factual
historical information and realpolitik. He displays vast amounts of logical and thoroughly descriptive
anecdotes and facts, however, the scrambled organization of his topics, and his clear devotion and
passion for the theme of social justice and anti racism present the problem of bombardment.
Furthermore, he does not appeal to his suggested audience in adequate rhetorical manner that is
consistent with his declared purpose of the book.
Loewen s constant stream of anecdotal and factual evidence thoroughly

The Issue Over The Existence Of Free Will Essay
Background
The up and coming fields of neuroscience and neuropsychology have the potential to break a
seemingly everlasting stalemate on the debate over the existence of free will. Breaking away from a
purely theoretical approach to discussing a philosophical question could shed some light into our
greatest existential dilemmas. German philosopher Martin Heidegger himself said, we ourselves are
entities to be analyzed, and that seems ever so fitting for the investigation into consciousness.
Although we have first person access to our conscious brain, the advancement of technology has
allowed previously inaccessible understanding of what goes on inside our heads. But much of our
brain and spinal cord, the scientifically agreed upon location of the self, is barely understood. But as
we apply reason and testing to our theories, we can learn more about the brain from a scientific and
philosophic viewpoint. We can finally marry the two fields through an agreement of reason and
questioning, agreeing with Rudolf Carnap that Logic is the last scientific ingredient of philosophy.
Introduction of Topic and Definition of Terms
We often act without conscious action. Reflexes like a knee jerk, or pulling away from a hot stove,
happen automatically. Even our conscious decisions happen as a result of environmental and
evolutionary factors that shape who we are. This, however, doesn t negate the existence of a self.
There may be an outcome, a path of atoms and energy changing since the

Critical Critique Of Dr Faustus
Doctor Faustus was written in Elizabethan age that is also known as Shakespearean age or as a
Renaissance period. It is a historical play based on the story of Faust who is a well known doctor of
theology. He has too much knowledge and wants to acquire more. Law and physic are the good wits
and he thinks that philosophy is not petty good. He is of the view that divinity is the basest and all the
necromantic books are glorious. He withdrew God and sells his soul in the hands of Lucifer, Prince of
Hell. He has also committed a fling with Helen of Troy and become eternally loathsome.
Genre:
Doctor Faustus, a play by Marlowe showed all the characteristics of Renaissance movement as well as
it showed the Christian religion and at the same time Elizabethan era. It is purely a morality play.
Source of Influence: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many of the critics said that Marlowe has composed his story which is written in Faustbuch in which a
person commits a sin and then he has faced punishment.
Structure of doctor Faustus:
Some of the critics are of the view that Doctor Faustus is a play which deals with the unevenness. It
has some gaps in the middle part of the plot. It does not have any good start, ending as well as middle.
Just because of this the unity of action with the chain of effect and cause is badly interrupted. But the
reality is contrary to this, no doubt the unity of action is there and the middle portion of the play is the
most essential part of the play.
Plot of doctor Faustus:
As Aristotle has given the idea of a good play. It should have a proper beginning, a middle and an end.
But Doctor Faustus does not follow these rules. Doctor Faustus has a weak middle if compare to its
beginning and

The Toxicity Effects Of Stavudine ( D4t )
Review of the toxicity effects of Stavudine (d4t) and Zidovudine (azt) in hepatocytes during HIV
therapy.
Introduction
Since the outbreak of HIV/AIDS, an estimated 78 million people have acquired HIV and has killed
approximately 39 million people infected with the virus. The prognosis of the epidemic has continued
to vary from different countries and according to global statistics; 35 million people in 2013 were
living with HIV/AIDS. 2.5 million People per annum acquire the virus and 1.5 million die of AIDS.
Inspite of the drastic transmission of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, the development and accessibility of
anti retroviral drugs has decreased mortality rates by 22% from a population of 2.0million in 2009 to

Fig 1. Structure of HIV 1. Adopted from eMedWiki.
The HIV life cycle occurs in six stages namely; Fusion, Reverse transcription, Integration,
transcription, assembly, and budding. Inorder for the virus to proceed to each stage and continue to
replicate into new viral cells, it requires catalytic enzymes such as reverse transcriptase (RT),
Intergrase (IG), and protease (PT). These replicating enzymes and cycle phases have been identified as
potential therapeutic drug targets for HIV therapy (Fig 2), therefore leading to the development of
novel anti retroviral drugs as stated below;
Fusion Inhibitors (FIs) and Entry inhibitors (EIs): They prevent entry of the viral capsid into the host
CD4+ T cell, by inhibiting the viral Gp41 and Gp120 from binding and fusing with chemocokine
coreceptors CCR5 or CXCR4 on the surface of the host cell. This further prevents the release of viral
replicating enzymes (reverse transcriptase, Intergrase, and protease) from the viral capsid into the host
cell. (Wilen et al., 2011). Examples are Enfuvirtide (FIs) and Maraviroc (EIs).
Reverse transcriptase Inhibitors (RTIs): There are 3 different classes of RTI and these include
nucleoside RTIs (NRTIs), Non nucleotide RTIs (NNRTIs), and nucleotide RTIs (NTRTIs). Inorder to

My Last Duchess By Robert Browning Essay
My last duchess by Robert Browning Quote Analysis
My Last Duchess by Robert Browning is a mysterious monologue about a duke who is showing a
portrait of his former wife or last duchess to a visitor at his palace. While showing this portrait of his
former wife, the duke begins to demean the duchess character and their life together. Although the
duke is very well spoken and chooses his words carefully as he describes the duchess, he ends up
reveling more about himself than his last duchess. By doing so, he reveals that she had been a lovely,
kindhearted woman, while he himself is cruel, jealous, proud, and arrogant.
The first two lines of the poem introduces us to the main topic of the duke speech and gives the reader
a hint that there s seems to be something wrong That s my last Duchess painted on the wall, Looking
as if she were alive the reader begins to suspect that the duchess is no longer alive. Browning uses
clever language in theses lines of the poem to foreshadow that the duke assassinated the duchess, in
which later on in the poem the reader realizes that he did so. In lines 45, 46, and 47 the following is
written, This grew; I gave commands; then all smiles stopped together. There she stands as if alive The
reader comes to the conclusion that the duke assassinated the duchess, illustrating that the duke is a
cruel man who will give the command to get ride of whatever disturbs him, in this case the duchess.
But, what did the duchess do that disturbed him so

A Research Study On Quantitative Research
A Quantitative Research Study Overview
Sheila E. Brooks
Stanbridge College
Introduction As we continue our discussion in comparing qualitative versus quantitative research, we
now focus our attention on quantitative research. In my personal opinion, I feel that quantitative
research is harder to understand but breaking the article into sections allows me to understand the
basic concepts. This week we will examine and in discuss a quantitative research article. The name of
the article is First time mothers: social support, maternal parental self efficacy and postnatal
depression written by authors Leahy Warren, McCarthy, Corcoran in 2011. First, I take a look at the
abstract to get a general overview of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, there is little research that provides a clear definition of what is meant by social support
(Leahy Warren et el, 2009). In other words, there is no research which has measured the relationship
between social support and maternal parental self efficacy using a domain specific instrument
developed and supported by self efficacy model and post natal depression with first time mothers at
six weeks post delivery
(Leahy Warren et el, 2009)
Maternal Parental Self Efficacy and Depression By now, some of you may be asking the same
question that I had when I first started reading this article. What is meant by maternal parental self
efficacy and post natal depression? It is important to understand these two definitions in order to
understand the article. Maternal parental self efficacy is a belief that a parent holds about themselves
in terms of being able to care for and parent a child (Leahy Warren et el, 2009). These includes the
ability to plan, organize, and execute actions in order to produce the desire results with the belief that
there is a strong correlation between the age of the mother and the number of children (Leah Warren et
el, 2009).
I can t help to think about my own experience as a mother as I read this article. I am a single mother of
six children and I can say that my confidence grew more as I

What Is Dyslexia and What Can You Do If You Have It
Dyslexia is a congenital disorder characterized by unexpected difficulty learning to decode and spell
words in relation to one s verbal intelligence, motivation, and educational opportunities (Gray E. S,
2008). People have many misconceptions regarding dyslexia which includes visual impairment, low
IQ, dyslexia is curable, and this learning disability affects males more often than females. Indicators of
dyslexia change over time since it is a process of developmental. It is difficult to identify children with
dyslexia; however it becomes more prominent as they progress in school. Experts agree that dyslexia
is a learning disability that affects language processing and that it does not occur because of low

Providing students with intensive phonological interventions during the early stages of learning
development can help students improve in reading, writing, and spelling. Teachers may use various
methods to instruct students during the interventions. Approaches such as structured system and
multisensory are recommended based on the researchers in the field of dyslexia. Structured system
involves taking steps such as alphabetic principles, reading, spelling, and writing. First, student will
learn the phonemes, the vowels, and the syllables. Students need to learn the relationship between
letters, sounds and words. Students will work on rhythm and rhymes such as alliteration to help them
develop letter sound recognition. Then students will progress onto reading words when they are able
to successfully match the phonemes to the letters. Multisensory involves using fingers, letter tiles to
manipulate the letters and spell words. Using a combination of visualization and kinesthetic to help
them memorize new vocabularies, which is similar to a Montessori setting. Montessori believed the
ideal curriculum for children with dyslexia is multisensory, structured, cumulative, and sequential
(Skotheim M.K, 2008). Children are able to experience language by spending time through tactile
learning of tracing sounds to alphabet learning phonemes. They also concentrate on listening skills,
and development of communication skills through

Processing A Deer Research Paper
Processing a deer takes many steps and many tools to complete including: cutting, taking hide off, and
deboning. There are about two different types of tools it takes to process a deer and they are a knifes
and a hacksaw. So the question is, how does a hunter properly process a deer? Processing a deer takes
time and patience. If the deer hunter did not take his time and have patience then the meat the hunter is
trying to preserve then it would not be correctly processed. If the deer is not correctly preserved then
the deer would not have as much meat the hunter would like to have. Before the hunter skins a deer
the hunter needs to properly field dress that deer by taking all of its insides out and cleaning that
specific part. Afterwards when

Analysing Good Literature
Analyzing the Literature A literature class, of course, has to require that the students to read a lot of
different examples so they will understand the elements of the different types of writing.
Unfortunately, many of the works selected will seem archaic and outdated. They may demonstrate a
specific method or element that a student needs to understand, but the works themselves do not seem
to hold interest or fit a modern style. However, it has been a surprise that the stories, poems and plays
have actually been entertaining. Good writing is not difficult to find because there have been so many
people who have been writing for so long. The purpose of this course was to demonstrate what good
writing is and the elements that make up a good piece of writing regardless of type. It is the purpose of
this paper to look at the writing sample that were required to be read for this class and examine them
for the elements they contained, and to especially notice the morals and values presented.
Short Stories The authors use of the elements of fiction seems to be the most important way to judge
whether it is a good work or not. Setting is important because it is the foundation of the story. The
reader has to have some point of reference for the work to ground the reading of it. Hawthorne s story
says He had left his laboratory to the care of an assistant (Hawthorne, 1851, 32) which may not seem
to tell the reader anything about the story, but it actually sets up all of the

The History of Metallica Essay
The History of Metallica
As the nineteen seventies came to a close so did many of the musical styles of that decade. While
some faced what seemed to be extinction others went through a sort of evolutionary process. The
bands that were at the top of the heavy metal ladder during this time were such acts as Motorhead,
Iron Maiden, and Tygers of Pan Tang. These groups would be just some of what the new crop of
heavy metal bands would consider inspirational. This style, which is typically referred to as The New
Wave of British Heavy Metal, would fuel and empower many acts to stardom. (Marshall 3) At around
this time, almost halfway across the world, Lars Ulrich got his first drum set in his home in
Copenhagen, Denmark. He was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After graduation James moved back to Downey and was offered a place to live by his friend Ron
McGovney. Ron s mother owned several houses, and the vacant one James would be moving into was
doubled as a rehearsal space since Ron was learning how to play the bass guitar. (Doughton 15 16) As
nineteen eighty one rolled around both James and Lars were looking for musicians that shared the
same taste in music they each had. Lars decided to place an advertisement in a South California paper
called The Recycler. The only other ad that came close was James and so the two decided to meet.
Their first practice together was anything but smooth, considering the fact that Lars was still learning
and could not even keep his drum set upright. (Krgin 51) Even though Lars was clearly unprepared to
make a career out of music he had made some connections. He befriended a man named Brian Slagel,
who was in the process of forming his own record company named Metal Blade Records. Brian was in
the middle of doing a compilation project where his goal was to expose up and coming bands to the
general public. He pretty much guaranteed Lars a spot on his project if Lars could form a band. Lars
got the information back to James and so they decided to give it a try. James, Lars, Ron, and a friend,
guitarist Lloyd Grant went into a recording studio and recorded what would be Metallica s first song,
Hit The Lights. Slagel was clearly impressed and did not hesitate to place

The Ethnic Background Of Nigeria
Social Climate An estimated 50 percent of Nigerians are Muslim, 40 percent are Christian with the
remainder practicing various indigenous religions. Nigeria s Muslim community presides in all parts
of the country with the strongest accumulation in the Hausa and Yoruba ethnic groups. Islam in
Nigeria is based on the teaching of the Prophet Muhammad outlined in the Qur an with varying
differences from the rest of the Islamic community. The vast majority of Igbo are Christians as are
many of the Yoruba. Popular forms of Christianity include Anglican, Presbyterian, American Southern
Baptist, and Methodist with large congregations of Seventh day Adventist and Jehovah s Witness
across the country.
The ethnic background of Nigeria is diverse from its foundation. Two predominant groups in the
Northern region include Muslim groups Hausa and Fulani. Although these two groups originated in
different parts of West Africa, their religion, intermarriage and the adoption of the Hausa language by
the Fulani have unified the two groups over time. Contemporary Nigerian society often refers to these
two groups as one being coined as Hausa Fulan. As the largest of the major ethnic groups, Hausa and
Fulani have been politically dominant since Nigeria s independence from Britain in 1960 s. In recent
years, the Hausa Fulani alliance has been instrumental in adopting and upholding Shari a law in 11 of
the country s northern states. (pbs.org/newshour) Nigeria s Christian community is comprised

Essay on Racism in Disney s Aladdin
Racism: discrimination which exemplifies stereotypical differences between the ethnic groups to
which people belong. While Disney animated films are the ideal family movies, it is undisclosed to
many that such racism is being portrayed. Disney s movie Aladdin (1992), was a high profile release,
the winner of two Academy Awards, and one of the most successful Disney films ever produced
(Giroux, 104); however, what is often disregarded is the obvious depiction of careless racism towards
Arabs seen in the illustrations of the characters, the statuses into which they are placed and the lyrics
of the opening song near beginning of the film. Furthermore, with the movie disguising itself as
innocent and wholesome, children are exposed to these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One Arab merchant even tries to cut off Jasmine s hand when she doesn t have money to pay for an
apple she gave to a hungry boy. Not once in the movie does it show a wealthy man living outside the
palace among civilization. This is not only unrealistic but it is also very insulting towards the Arabic
culture. When it comes to the illustrations of his popular characters in Aladdin, Disney proves to be
quite racist. Most of the small part, background characters and especially the bad guys , such as Jafar
and the palace guards, all have incredibly distinct Arabic appearances. Every one of them
stereotypically consists of beards, large noses, sinister eyes, and heavy accents, and they re wielding
swords constantly (Giroux, 104). In contrast, Aladdin the hero, looks and talks like an All American
man. His skin is pale and he wants to be addressed as Al, which is an American name rather than
Arabic. He does not have a beard, big nose, turban, or accent. The key point in this illustration is that
Disney is establishing that Aladdin looks right for the part of a hero, while Jafar looks right for a
villain. Jack Zipes, author of the essay Breaking the Disney Spell , clarifies that though the characters
are fleshed out to become more realistic, they are also one dimensional. There is no character
development because the characters are stereotypes, arranged according to a credo of domestication of
the imagination

The Positive Aspects Of Bureaucracy
1. One of the positive aspects of bureaucracy that covers so many scenarios is it fosters impartiality.
The structure in bureaucracy commands responsibility by all and that structure also provides security
in many situations for those within the bureaucratic system as well as those impacted by that system.
2. A crisis situation I m familiar with is one that has occurred at a local middle school and a leader has
immerged within a group of students. That person doesn t even realize she is considered the leader but
many of the true leaders realize it and are attempting to use her leadership to help solve the crisis. The
crisis began on the second week of school when a number of teachers were displaced from their
assignment at this particular school. This displacement caused a lot of emotional pushback by other
teachers, parents and most definitely students. One particular student moved quickly in an attempt to
rally the students to support the displaced teachers. Though she was only able to get two other
students to participate with her and speak that night at the school board meeting, their bravery stood
out to members of the school board as well as administration within the school. The video of their
moving speeches has been shared over and over on social media. The situation did contribute to the
emergence of the leader as she was directly impacted by the displacement of teachers though it did not
necessarily demand it. When she attended

The Third Man By Richard Rodriguez
The small city of Brownsville is small in both population and mind. Even though there are individuals
who commute morning and night from country to country, there is no unity. Growing up, I had never
experienced a diverse city. In the city of Brownsville, Hispanics are the majority. As a result,
individuals who saw somebody of a different race or ethnicity would make negative and offensive
comments towards them. At times, these offensive comments were accidental. Other times, the
offensive comments were on purpose and intended to appear humorous to friends. Apart from
discriminatory remarks to outsiders, this happened amongst people of my Hispanic community.

One day in the 1960s, the success of the Negro Civil Rights movement encouraged Hispanics (along
with other groups of Americans) to insist on the coveted black analogy, and thus claim the spoils of
affirmative action.
The coveted black analogy , which Rodriguez states that Hispanics insist[ed] on, can be viewed as an
acknowledgment to the suffering that African Americans experienced. Due to this struggle, African
Americans were one of the primary groups that affirmative action was meant to help. As a result,
Rodriguez implies that by seeing the benefits that African Americans were receiving, Hispanics
wanted to be included as well. In Rodriguez s perspective, this led Hispanics to claim the spoils of
affirmative action even though they were not the group that affirmative action was initially geared
toward.
Overall, the chapter, which focuses on Hispanicity , impacted me because I began to formulate ideas
which opposed those that had been hammered into my mind all my life. For so long I had heard that
minorities were victims to oppression by whites and for that reason minorities should strive to do
more than what is expected from them. In reading Rodriguez s claim, questions that had never been
explored in my development arose in my mind such as Are Hispanics really the victims? , Do
Hispanics truly strive to their fullest to accomplish things that have never been done? , and lastly, Are
Hispanics committing acts of hypocrisy? . If a Hispanic

The Giver Theme
Imagine being trapped in a community and everyone is the exact same. Imagine feeling not special in
anyway. Everybody wears the same clothes, rides the same bike, the weather is always sunny behind
clouds, and there is no color. Well Jonas had to live in the society for many years until his world was
turned upside down. In The Giver, the Giver is the receiver of memory for the community. The
receiver of memory is in charge of the memories of the past that the community doesn t know about.
The ceremony of 12 is when the people of 12 is given there jobs picked out by the elders. The elders
are the main committee of the community, they make the decisions. Jonas was then given the one of
the highest job of the community, Reciever of memory. The job was rare and only chosen once the old
receiver is about ready to pass. The receiver of memory passes the memories of the past that he got
from the previous receiver of memory. The Giver is the receiver of memory he gave Jonas memories
he never knew about. He transferred them by putting his hand on Jonas s back and transferring them.
When his memory was gone and in the new receiver the memory would vanish from his memory and
transfer into the new receiver s memory. Until the new receiver passes the memories on. In The Giver,

American Indian Culture Influence
Contemporary American Indian art and literature both have immense cross cultural influence. They
take the old and the new to create something unique and beautiful that is distinctively American
Indian; it reflects hardships and happiness, growth and inhibitions. Contemporary American Indian art
has immense cross cultural influence. It consists of hints of traditional crafts, like weaving and
basketry, and contemporary art trends like readymades and inflatable sculptures. In paintings, it may
consist of a traditional American Indian woman languishing next to a life size balloon animal, or an
Everlast punching bag covered in ornate beads (Brooks). American Indians are constantly
experimenting with media and perspectives. They often merge the utilitarian artifacts of traditional

The Chrysalids Vs To Kill A Mockingbird Analysis
The Chrysalids vs. To Kill a Mockingbird
Lead Harper Lee s, To Kill a Mockingbird, takes place in Maycomb, Alabama during the 1930 s, when
great depression and racial discrimination was occurring. The novel s protagonist, Jean Louise (Scout)
Finch, experiences the great depression in a town in Alabama, Macomb. The Chrysalids, written by
John Wyndham in late 1940 s, which is set in the future after the devastating global nuclear war. The
novel s protagonist, David Strorm lives in a community of Waknuk, consisting of religious and genetic
fanatics. Waknuk is a community where anything out of a norm is sinful and could even end in a
consequence as serious as death. The main question is, what does Wyndham s and Lee s themes,
superstition, racism, and fear say about today s society? Superstition is seen in many religions and
beliefs that do not accept different races or religions in today s society. This can also be known as
Racism, which is also present in both of these novels. Racism is also seen in today s society at
schools, work, etc... Lastly, Fear is also a major theme in both of these novels, portrayed by several
characters, or societies. All of this can be related back to how the authors show these themes, and what
they say about society everywhere. While Lee s story focusses on the themes directly related to the
society and Wyndham s story adheres closely to its protagonist, they share the key distinction of
warning and criticizing the cruelty of today s society.

Race And Gender Differences In Race, Class And Race
What is race? Race is defined as a group of persons related by common descent or heredity
(Dictionary). Many notice this as color of skin or where you were born. The differences in race, class,
gender is what make the position of an individual in society. In our textbook race is defined as a
category of people who have been singled out as inferior or superior, often based on real or alleged
physical characteristics such as skin color, hair texture, eye shape, or other subjectively selected
attributes (Kendall, 2013, p 296). A variety of people believe that race and ethnicity are the same when
they are not. Race, class, and gender all plays into someone social stratification. I interviewed two
individuals from different race and ethnicity and different class and gender. These individuals both
came from a different walk of life. The first person I interviewed was an admission administrative for
South University Columbia campus. The person I interviewed was a woman which is African
American in race and African in ethnicity. Ethnicity is defined as the fact or state of belonging to a
social group that has a common national or cultural tradition (Dictionary). Our textbook define
ethnicity as a collection of people distinguished, by others or by themselves, primarily based on
cultural or nationality characteristics (Kendall, 2013, p 296). Her name is Carmellita Outten. Based on

Self Care Worksheet
Before initially watching the Ted talk show during class, to me, self care made me think of taking care
of one s health and wellbeing the best one possibly can. It never crossed my mind that self care could
possibly or even in a fraction, be related to one s psychological health rather just physical health. It
astonishes me how little attention one pays to one s psychological health. After completing my
Emergency Self Care Worksheet and my card, I just realized how easily it is to get off track from
practicing good self care in order to maintain a balanced life and overall health on a daily basis. This
activity worked as more of an enlightenment to a concept of self care that I was familiar with and

The only thing that would keep me from using the card would be feeling like I have no time do
anything that my card says. I would be the one keeping me from using my card. My answer from
question three does inform my willingness to use the card. More often than not I myself am the one
that brings me down. I feel that by starting to do small things included in my card, like going to the
gym, I will get accustomed to the fact that in order for me to perform my best, I need to make a little
time for myself to improve and sustain excellent self care habits. One of the benefits of having an
emergency self care card is always having a list of things I can do whenever I want to relax. Another
benefit of having an emergency self care card is that it makes it easier to practice good self care
tactics. One of the last reasons having an emergency self care card is that it includes a list of people
one can contact as well as those that would not be good to contact. In times of stress or when feeling
overwhelmed it is easy to just get lost in one s own negative thoughts, the emergency self care card
will work as an easy reminder to me whenever I begin to feel overwhelmed. I plan on using the
emergency self care card whenever I begin to stress over or when my mood is just down. The card will

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) also known as Remotely Piloted Vehicle (RPV) which can operate

mapping, fire detection and traffic control are examples of usage fields. [1] Path Planning, crucial
phase for navigation process, is about to determining optimal or near optimal path between
destinations with fulfilling constraints such as hostile threats. [2] Depending on the degree of
difficulty of the task, operations such as path planning should be fulfilled without human support. [1]
The autonomy of such use is advantageous in situations that require quick decisions. And success of
path planning heavily relies on selected algorithm. [4] Measure of success can be categorized into two
sections: feasibility which considers to safely moving objects to target and optimality which is about
to finding optimal solution. When a task difficult to accomplish by a single UAV or it is cheaper,
easier or faster than there may be a need would arise to use multiple UAVs to fulfill task [8]. To solve
some problems multiple UAVs path planning may be came into as a constraint. [8] Search and rescue
operations are examples of multiple UAVs usage areas. There are different types of path planning
architectures. It can be centralized or distributed. In centralized systems; a universal path planer

Varsity Race Descriptive Writing
The Varsity Race
As you approach a huge green field with freshly cut grass, swarmed with anxious girls, you start to
observe what is in front of you. The field is full of different colored flags; red, blue and yellow that
indicate which direction to go. White lines extending across the entire field mark the course you are
about to run. Stretching to a spot on the field with the rest of the team, your back turns and your
attention goes toward the gunman. He begins going over the rules for a cross country race and ends
with good luck ladies. The time has finally come, some of your body parts start to become more vivid.
The feeling of stress and anxiety comes back; as it does for the start of every race. Your heart starts
beating faster so that it is heard and felt clearly. The flag is raised along with the gun and everyone
moves forward a step. As the gun bangs loudly and grayish smoke blasts into the morning sky, you
know the race has now started. The burning gunsmoke slowly fades away into the open air of the
field. Adrenaline is taking over as you fight to run with the crowd. After breezing through the first
mile, the body begins to weaken and the mind ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Comparing The Casino Royale Book And Movie Comparison
Casino Royale Book and Movie Comparison
Today, there are a lot of movies shot in the spy genre. The special effects amaze with its inimitability
and with each film are becoming brighter and more exciting. In this paper I want to analyze one of the
most impressive and most of the first films about spies Casino Royale filmed by Martin Campbell and
compare it with the eponymous book written by Ian Fleming, which soon served as the plot for the
film. In such way it will be seen how the spy genre have been changed for decades. Casino Royale is
one of the first Fleming s novels and it was released with the absence of big success in 1953.
The actual plot of the Casino Royale may seem too simple for nowadays audience. In the 1953 novel,
007 is given the mission to defeat Le Chiffre, a SMERSH agent working for the Russians in a high
stakes Baccarat game. This is a situation where the movie has mirrored the novel to the best extent
that it possibly can. When the books were written, the whole world was hip deep in the cold war
which pitted east against west. All the characters are there, 007, Le Chiffre, Rene Mathis and Vesper
Lynd. As the movie depicts Le Chiffre loses $100,000,000 of his clients money in a botched terrorist
attack against Skyfleet s newest airline. In the book Le Chiffre loses 80,000,000 Francs in a botched
real estate deal involving brothels in southern France. Both story lines are fairly similar, his Le Chiffre

How Did The New Deal Save The Usa Capitalism
The New Deal: Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation
After the tragic Stock Market Crash of 1933, America had plunged into a deep depression. Over 9,000
banks nationwide were closing their doors. After the Stock Market Crash, President Herbert Hoover
was in office working ceaselessly to fix what was left of the economy. However, his effort did not
seem to be enough. In the election of 1933, Franklin D. Roosevelt won by a landslide. Roosevelt
stated, This nation asks for action and action now, and he did just that.(Barbour, 82) He saved
countless families from poverty that was spreading like wildfire across the U.S. Federal Deposit
Insurance Corporation (FDIC) is a portion of the New Deal formulated by Franklin D. Roosevelt to
help save America from poverty caused by bank failures. Roosevelt s New Deal preserved the
American democratic capitalist system. (Schlesinger 137) The Stock Market Crash played a major role
in bank failures. After the crash, people were indifferent about the stability of banks, so they all began
taking out their savings. Banks no longer had the currency to stay open. For those who did not take

This is often because they simply do not know that what they are trying to do have already been done
by elsewhere. They do not know what is already known, or they do not know where to access the
knowledge. Continually reinventing the wheel is such a costly and inefficient activity, whereas a more
systematic reuse of knowledge will show substantial cost benefits immediately
But as well as reducing costs, effective knowledge management should also dramatically increase our
speed of response as a direct result of better knowledge access and application.
Effective knowledge management, using more collective and systematic processes, will also reduce
our tendency to repeat the same mistakes . This is, again, extremely costly and inefficient. Effective
knowledge management, therefore, can dramatically improve quality of products and/or services.
Better knowing the stakeholder needs, customer needs, employee needs, industry needs, for example,
has an obvious immediate effect on the relationship management.
The Knowledge Economy is the next booming economy in a world of recession. More individuals,
teams, organizations and inter organizational networks will be restructuring and renewing themselves
with the primary purpose of profitably trading their knowledge to add even higher value,
predominantly on the World Wide Web.

Essay on Critical analysis of Alice Sebold s The Lovely...
Alice Sebold s number one national bestselling novel The Lovely Bones depicts the horrendous rape
and murder of a small town girl named Suzie Salmon. Suzie must then watch from her own personal
heaven her family and friends struggle to cope and move on with their lives. The novel is set in the
suburbs of Norristown, Pennsylvania, 1973. Published in 2002, The Lovely Bones became an instant
bestseller, and in 2010 it was released into theaters around the world. Alice Sebold s early years
helped set the stage for her literary career. When Alice Sebold was a freshman at Syracuse University,
she survived a brush with death herself. On May 8, 1981, she was raped while walking home through

Nigerian Culture Vs American Culture Essay
Nigerian Culture vs. American Culture
There are vast contrasts between the cultures of Nigerians and Americans, but there are similarities
among the two as well. Distinguishing the attributes that make up both countries can instill a
knowledge in both peoples and give a new sense of appreciation for the diverse cultures. The
differences and comparisons may come as a surprise for some. Some of the major differences lie
within the styles of communication in the two countries, but if studied thoroughly similarities in
communication methods can be found.
The official language of Nigeria is English, as in The United States. This is the main likeness in the
communication methods of these two countries. Although most Nigerians do speak English, being
fluent in other languages is not rare. There are over 521 languages that have been spoken in Nigeria
with at least 9 of them now being extinct (Nwodo, MUST ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

are angry about an issue that occurred ( Useful phrases in Yoruba ). Another significant distinction
between Nigerian and American culture is food.
A typical breakfast layout for Americans may be a bowl of cereal or a piece of toast. For those with
heartier appetites it may consist of eggs and bacon, pancakes, or an omelet. In Nigeria, most people do
not have breakfast. With the hearty appetite Nigerian natives have, we usually save room for lunch
and dinnertime, which normally consists of very large portions of food, my friend Clara who is a

Jean Paul Sartre on the Anti Semite Essay
Jean Paul Sartre on the Anti Semite Describe the anti semitic person s attitude toward reason. How
does his attitude toward reason reflect or reveal his general attitude toward life, the human condition
and even himself? How does his attitude toward reason compare to the attitude of the rational man?
Sartre explains that an Anti Semite is impenetrable , and it is actually something he strives to achieve.
By gaining impenetrability, the Anti Semite strengthens his beliefs because another person is not
capable of reasoning with him. Sartre believes the Anti Semite s reason is based on the passion for
hatred that he holds for the Jew. Sartre uses the word monoideism to explain the irrational Anti Semite
s passion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rational man is open to all ideas; he strives to gain more factual information to back his views.
However, the Anti Semite remains closed minded and chooses to be ignorant to the fact that his beliefs
are not valid. The rational man seeks information, and does not feel content until his quest for
knowledge is over. The rational man is even hesitant when he states his ideas, or comes to
conclusions. He realizes that there are other views on every subject, and he wants to contemplate over
every possible idea that he is able to think of until he reaches his own. The reasonable man will even
admit when he is proven wrong, and change his view. The Anti Semite wishes not to change, and
claims, even when proven wrong, that his beliefs are still of a valid and true nature. Sartre believes the
actual content of truth frightens the Anti Semite. The idea of there being other views is ignored by the
Anti Semite. He chooses to remain innate . They want to come to a conclusion right away, and
consider only the factors that benefit him. Sartre blames the Anti Semites ability to ignore reasoning
and research on emotional bias . Through this emotional bias, he feels at ease because he is in a state
of bliss; he feels as though he knows all he needs to know about life. In conclusion, the Anti Semite
disregards any other ideas besides his own, and those of his

As the saying goes no good deed goes unrewarded....
As the saying goes no good deed goes unrewarded. Coleridge, in his poem The Rime of the Ancient
Mariner, tells a story that no evil deed shall go unpunished. For every action there is an appropriate
consequence equal to or greater than the original action. In the poem, The Rime of the Ancient
Mariner, Coleridge explains this through the crime committed by the ancient Mariner and the
consequences forced upon him for his actions as seemed fit by the spiritual world.
The albatross had flown to the side of the Mariner s ship and guided the ship through the fog. At
lengths did cross an albatross through the fog it came; As if it had been a Christian soul, we hailed it in
God s name. (64 66). Coleridge tells us that the albatross was a ... Show more content on

I believe that the events to fall upon the ancient mariner are consequences for blessings he destroyed.
The second punishment was more of a physiologic punishment placed upon the Ancient Mariner
instead of a physical one. Life and death soon appear and play a game of chance to determine the
fortune of the Mariner and his crew. the game is done, I ve won. (43). Winning the game apparently
means survival as death takes the lives of the two hundred men aboard the ship. Life in death
nonetheless blesses the Mariner with eternal life. This had become his punishment because the
Mariner could no longer pray, sleep, and every day must live with the agonizing loss of his men
aboard his now forsaken ship. Alone, Alone, all, all alone, Alone on a wide wide sea! And never a
saint took pity on My soul in agony. (236 39). It is clear that the Ancient Mariner is being punished by
the divine. In the same way the Mariner killed the Albatross the spiritual forces are in a way killing
him. The Albatross is dead and now the Ancient Mariner is metaphorically dead also. This is apparent
as the Mariner has been isolated in the middle of the ocean where everything all around him is the
same and lifeless. Just as if he were to be dead and buried in the ground, there would be dirt to his left
and to his right without a single soul to keep him company. The only way for the Mariner to ease his
pain is

  • 2. My Mom Outreach My mom is a badass bitch, she is a strong, proud, takes no bullshit, First Nations woman. My mother s name is Agnes Dawn Dustyhorn and she was born October 9th 1978. She grew up in an environment where she was unrelentlessly discriminated for being first nations. She was a teenage mother who managed to raise me while both, enrolled in school, and working, with the useless paperclip that was my father. Eventually she became a successful career woman and now has an amazing job in white bear. And I am going to go into more detail as to why she is a badass bitch. Mom grew up here in Saskatoon, and she was raised in extreme poverty. She was born to a single mother who became blind before having her; Her father as absent from her life. She was the youngest child out of thirteen children not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was then the guard that once protected her when she was growing up, would once again be used to protect herself in the professional world. The professional world was never exposed as a world full of systemic racism. This world was all about Power, Control, and how people would intimidate others just because they could. And my mom being the person she is, learned not to back down, and not let these things stop her. If there was racism at a company she would find ways to address the problem. • 3. I Have Long Advocated For Social Equality I have long advocated for social equality and been aware of the prevalence of racism. However, my forethought now seems insignificant compared to the degree of racism that James W. Loewen suggests is indoctrinating the minds and classrooms of America s youth. Loewen takes readers on an enlightening journey through his book, Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything Your American History Textbook Got Wrong, that intends to expose the false claims and lack of information in standard American high school history textbooks. He aims to set the record straight on how and why American history is so misrepresented and why it is important to represent history accurately and not limitedly. Throughout the book, he largely focuses on the shortcomings or outright fallacies of historical textbooks in regards to racism, government, colonialism, and patriotism. Loewen serves this book to bring about institutional change where he feels that it is needed and to stress the importance of factual historical information and realpolitik. He displays vast amounts of logical and thoroughly descriptive anecdotes and facts, however, the scrambled organization of his topics, and his clear devotion and passion for the theme of social justice and anti racism present the problem of bombardment. Furthermore, he does not appeal to his suggested audience in adequate rhetorical manner that is consistent with his declared purpose of the book. Loewen s constant stream of anecdotal and factual evidence thoroughly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Issue Over The Existence Of Free Will Essay Background The up and coming fields of neuroscience and neuropsychology have the potential to break a seemingly everlasting stalemate on the debate over the existence of free will. Breaking away from a purely theoretical approach to discussing a philosophical question could shed some light into our greatest existential dilemmas. German philosopher Martin Heidegger himself said, we ourselves are entities to be analyzed, and that seems ever so fitting for the investigation into consciousness. Although we have first person access to our conscious brain, the advancement of technology has allowed previously inaccessible understanding of what goes on inside our heads. But much of our brain and spinal cord, the scientifically agreed upon location of the self, is barely understood. But as we apply reason and testing to our theories, we can learn more about the brain from a scientific and philosophic viewpoint. We can finally marry the two fields through an agreement of reason and questioning, agreeing with Rudolf Carnap that Logic is the last scientific ingredient of philosophy. Introduction of Topic and Definition of Terms We often act without conscious action. Reflexes like a knee jerk, or pulling away from a hot stove, happen automatically. Even our conscious decisions happen as a result of environmental and evolutionary factors that shape who we are. This, however, doesn t negate the existence of a self. There may be an outcome, a path of atoms and energy changing since the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Critical Critique Of Dr Faustus Doctor Faustus was written in Elizabethan age that is also known as Shakespearean age or as a Renaissance period. It is a historical play based on the story of Faust who is a well known doctor of theology. He has too much knowledge and wants to acquire more. Law and physic are the good wits and he thinks that philosophy is not petty good. He is of the view that divinity is the basest and all the necromantic books are glorious. He withdrew God and sells his soul in the hands of Lucifer, Prince of Hell. He has also committed a fling with Helen of Troy and become eternally loathsome. Genre: Doctor Faustus, a play by Marlowe showed all the characteristics of Renaissance movement as well as it showed the Christian religion and at the same time Elizabethan era. It is purely a morality play. Source of Influence: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many of the critics said that Marlowe has composed his story which is written in Faustbuch in which a person commits a sin and then he has faced punishment. Structure of doctor Faustus: Some of the critics are of the view that Doctor Faustus is a play which deals with the unevenness. It has some gaps in the middle part of the plot. It does not have any good start, ending as well as middle. Just because of this the unity of action with the chain of effect and cause is badly interrupted. But the reality is contrary to this, no doubt the unity of action is there and the middle portion of the play is the most essential part of the play. Plot of doctor Faustus: As Aristotle has given the idea of a good play. It should have a proper beginning, a middle and an end. But Doctor Faustus does not follow these rules. Doctor Faustus has a weak middle if compare to its beginning and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The HIV life cycle occurs in six stages namely; Fusion, Reverse transcription, Integration, transcription, assembly, and budding. Inorder for the virus to proceed to each stage and continue to replicate into new viral cells, it requires catalytic enzymes such as reverse transcriptase (RT), Intergrase (IG), and protease (PT). These replicating enzymes and cycle phases have been identified as potential therapeutic drug targets for HIV therapy (Fig 2), therefore leading to the development of novel anti retroviral drugs as stated below; Fusion Inhibitors (FIs) and Entry inhibitors (EIs): They prevent entry of the viral capsid into the host CD4+ T cell, by inhibiting the viral Gp41 and Gp120 from binding and fusing with chemocokine coreceptors CCR5 or CXCR4 on the surface of the host cell. This further prevents the release of viral replicating enzymes (reverse transcriptase, Intergrase, and protease) from the viral capsid into the host cell. (Wilen et al., 2011). Examples are Enfuvirtide (FIs) and Maraviroc (EIs). Reverse transcriptase Inhibitors (RTIs): There are 3 different classes of RTI and these include nucleoside RTIs (NRTIs), Non nucleotide RTIs (NNRTIs), and nucleotide RTIs (NTRTIs). • 8. My Last Duchess By Robert Browning Essay My last duchess by Robert Browning Quote Analysis My Last Duchess by Robert Browning is a mysterious monologue about a duke who is showing a portrait of his former wife or last duchess to a visitor at his palace. While showing this portrait of his former wife, the duke begins to demean the duchess character and their life together. Although the duke is very well spoken and chooses his words carefully as he describes the duchess, he ends up reveling more about himself than his last duchess. By doing so, he reveals that she had been a lovely, kindhearted woman, while he himself is cruel, jealous, proud, and arrogant. The first two lines of the poem introduces us to the main topic of the duke speech and gives the reader a hint that there s seems to be something wrong That s my last Duchess painted on the wall, Looking as if she were alive the reader begins to suspect that the duchess is no longer alive. Browning uses clever language in theses lines of the poem to foreshadow that the duke assassinated the duchess, in which later on in the poem the reader realizes that he did so. In lines 45, 46, and 47 the following is written, This grew; I gave commands; then all smiles stopped together. There she stands as if alive The reader comes to the conclusion that the duke assassinated the duchess, illustrating that the duke is a cruel man who will give the command to get ride of whatever disturbs him, in this case the duchess. But, what did the duchess do that disturbed him so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. A Research Study On Quantitative Research A Quantitative Research Study Overview Sheila E. Brooks Stanbridge College Introduction As we continue our discussion in comparing qualitative versus quantitative research, we now focus our attention on quantitative research. In my personal opinion, I feel that quantitative research is harder to understand but breaking the article into sections allows me to understand the basic concepts. This week we will examine and in discuss a quantitative research article. The name of the article is First time mothers: social support, maternal parental self efficacy and postnatal depression written by authors Leahy Warren, McCarthy, Corcoran in 2011. First, I take a look at the abstract to get a general overview of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, there is little research that provides a clear definition of what is meant by social support (Leahy Warren et el, 2009). In other words, there is no research which has measured the relationship between social support and maternal parental self efficacy using a domain specific instrument developed and supported by self efficacy model and post natal depression with first time mothers at six weeks post delivery (Leahy Warren et el, 2009) Maternal Parental Self Efficacy and Depression By now, some of you may be asking the same question that I had when I first started reading this article. What is meant by maternal parental self efficacy and post natal depression? It is important to understand these two definitions in order to understand the article. Maternal parental self efficacy is a belief that a parent holds about themselves in terms of being able to care for and parent a child (Leahy Warren et el, 2009). These includes the ability to plan, organize, and execute actions in order to produce the desire results with the belief that there is a strong correlation between the age of the mother and the number of children (Leah Warren et el, 2009). I can t help to think about my own experience as a mother as I read this article. I am a single mother of six children and I can say that my confidence grew more as I ... What Is Dyslexia and What Can You Do If You Have It Dyslexia is a congenital disorder characterized by unexpected difficulty learning to decode and spell words in relation to one s verbal intelligence, motivation, and educational opportunities (Gray E. S, 2008). People have many misconceptions regarding dyslexia which includes visual impairment, low IQ, dyslexia is curable, and this learning disability affects males more often than females. Indicators of dyslexia change over time since it is a process of developmental. It is difficult to identify children with dyslexia; however it becomes more prominent as they progress in school. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Providing students with intensive phonological interventions during the early stages of learning development can help students improve in reading, writing, and spelling. Teachers may use various methods to instruct students during the interventions. Approaches such as structured system and multisensory are recommended based on the researchers in the field of dyslexia. Structured system involves taking steps such as alphabetic principles, reading, spelling, and writing. First, student will learn the phonemes, the vowels, and the syllables. Students need to learn the relationship between letters, sounds and words. Students will work on rhythm and rhymes such as alliteration to help them develop letter sound recognition. Then students will progress onto reading words when they are able to successfully match the phonemes to the letters. Multisensory involves using fingers, letter tiles to manipulate the letters and spell words. • 12. Analysing Good Literature Analyzing the Literature A literature class, of course, has to require that the students to read a lot of different examples so they will understand the elements of the different types of writing. Unfortunately, many of the works selected will seem archaic and outdated. They may demonstrate a specific method or element that a student needs to understand, but the works themselves do not seem to hold interest or fit a modern style. However, it has been a surprise that the stories, poems and plays have actually been entertaining. Good writing is not difficult to find because there have been so many people who have been writing for so long. The purpose of this course was to demonstrate what good writing is and the elements that make up a good piece of writing regardless of type. It is the purpose of this paper to look at the writing sample that were required to be read for this class and examine them for the elements they contained, and to especially notice the morals and values presented. Short Stories The authors use of the elements of fiction seems to be the most important way to judge whether it is a good work or not. Setting is important because it is the foundation of the story. The reader has to have some point of reference for the work to ground the reading of it. Hawthorne s story says He had left his laboratory to the care of an assistant (Hawthorne, 1851, 32) which may not seem to tell the reader anything about the story, but it actually sets up all of the ... While Disney animated films are the ideal family movies, it is undisclosed to many that such racism is being portrayed. Disney s movie Aladdin (1992), was a high profile release, the winner of two Academy Awards, and one of the most successful Disney films ever produced (Giroux, 104); however, what is often disregarded is the obvious depiction of careless racism towards Arabs seen in the illustrations of the characters, the statuses into which they are placed and the lyrics of the opening song near beginning of the film. One Arab merchant even tries to cut off Jasmine s hand when she doesn t have money to pay for an apple she gave to a hungry boy. Not once in the movie does it show a wealthy man living outside the palace among civilization. This is not only unrealistic but it is also very insulting towards the Arabic culture. When it comes to the illustrations of his popular characters in Aladdin, Disney proves to be quite racist. Most of the small part, background characters and especially the bad guys , such as Jafar and the palace guards, all have incredibly distinct Arabic appearances. Every one of them stereotypically consists of beards, large noses, sinister eyes, and heavy accents, and they re wielding swords constantly (Giroux, 104). In contrast, Aladdin the hero, looks and talks like an All American man. His skin is pale and he wants to be addressed as Al, which is an American name rather than Arabic. He does not have a beard, big nose, turban, or accent. The key point in this illustration is that Disney is establishing that Aladdin looks right for the part of a hero, while Jafar looks right for a villain. Jack Zipes, author of the essay Breaking the Disney Spell , clarifies that though the characters are fleshed out to become more realistic, they are also one dimensional. There is no character development because the characters are stereotypes, arranged according to a credo of domestication of the imagination ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A crisis situation I m familiar with is one that has occurred at a local middle school and a leader has immerged within a group of students. That person doesn t even realize she is considered the leader but many of the true leaders realize it and are attempting to use her leadership to help solve the crisis. The crisis began on the second week of school when a number of teachers were displaced from their assignment at this particular school. This displacement caused a lot of emotional pushback by other teachers, parents and most definitely students. One particular student moved quickly in an attempt to rally the students to support the displaced teachers. Though she was only able to get two other students to participate with her and speak that night at the school board meeting, their bravery stood out to members of the school board as well as administration within the school. One day in the 1960s, the success of the Negro Civil Rights movement encouraged Hispanics (along with other groups of Americans) to insist on the coveted black analogy, and thus claim the spoils of affirmative action. The coveted black analogy , which Rodriguez states that Hispanics insist[ed] on, can be viewed as an acknowledgment to the suffering that African Americans experienced. Due to this struggle, African Americans were one of the primary groups that affirmative action was meant to help. As a result, Rodriguez implies that by seeing the benefits that African Americans were receiving, Hispanics wanted to be included as well. In Rodriguez s perspective, this led Hispanics to claim the spoils of affirmative action even though they were not the group that affirmative action was initially geared toward. Overall, the chapter, which focuses on Hispanicity , impacted me because I began to formulate ideas which opposed those that had been hammered into my mind all my life. For so long I had heard that minorities were victims to oppression by whites and for that reason minorities should strive to do more than what is expected from them. They do not know what is already known, or they do not know where to access the knowledge. Continually reinventing the wheel is such a costly and inefficient activity, whereas a more systematic reuse of knowledge will show substantial cost benefits immediately But as well as reducing costs, effective knowledge management should also dramatically increase our speed of response as a direct result of better knowledge access and application. Effective knowledge management, using more collective and systematic processes, will also reduce our tendency to repeat the same mistakes . This is, again, extremely costly and inefficient. Effective knowledge management, therefore, can dramatically improve quality of products and/or services. Better knowing the stakeholder needs, customer needs, employee needs, industry needs, for example, has an obvious immediate effect on the relationship management. • 32. Essay on Critical analysis of Alice Sebold s The Lovely... Alice Sebold s number one national bestselling novel The Lovely Bones depicts the horrendous rape and murder of a small town girl named Suzie Salmon. Suzie must then watch from her own personal heaven her family and friends struggle to cope and move on with their lives. The novel is set in the suburbs of Norristown, Pennsylvania, 1973. Published in 2002, The Lovely Bones became an instant bestseller, and in 2010 it was released into theaters around the world. Alice Sebold s early years helped set the stage for her literary career. When Alice Sebold was a freshman at Syracuse University, she survived a brush with death herself. On May 8, 1981, she was raped while walking home through a park off campus. Her attacker dragged her into a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... ( What Readers and... ii) To put Kakutani s review in one word would be spot on correct. Kakutani somehow takes all of the messages, symbols and themes in The Lovely Bones and crams them into a short paragraph. Overall, Kakutani s review was heartfelt and a magnificent interpretation of The Lovely Bones. Karen Sandstrom from the Cleveland Plain Dealer speaks ignorantly of The Lovely Bones: She says, Here is a writer who honors fiction s primary gift the infinity of possibilities by following her imagination to wondrous and terrifying places ( What Readers and... ii). Had Ms. Karen Sandstrom done some background work on Alice Sebold, she would have discovered that Sebold was a rape victim. This knowledge would have pointed her in a new direction. This direction would have changed Sandstrom s original review. Considering that Sebold was a rape victim herself, she would not have had to imagine the tragedy and heartache that Suzie went through, since she experienced the horror for herself. In ... • 33. Nigerian Culture Vs American Culture Essay Nigerian Culture vs. American Culture There are vast contrasts between the cultures of Nigerians and Americans, but there are similarities among the two as well. Distinguishing the attributes that make up both countries can instill a knowledge in both peoples and give a new sense of appreciation for the diverse cultures. The differences and comparisons may come as a surprise for some. Some of the major differences lie within the styles of communication in the two countries, but if studied thoroughly similarities in communication methods can be found. The official language of Nigeria is English, as in The United States. This is the main likeness in the communication methods of these two countries. Although most Nigerians do speak English, being fluent in other languages is not rare. There are over 521 languages that have been spoken in Nigeria with at least 9 of them now being extinct (Nwodo, MUST ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though this term is the same in both places, if it were a more direct question, the meanings would then differ. An example being; Are you mad or something? To Nigerians this is a question of their sanity To Americans, it is just a way to find out the mood the person is in and to clarify if they are angry about an issue that occurred ( Useful phrases in Yoruba ). Another significant distinction between Nigerian and American culture is food. A typical breakfast layout for Americans may be a bowl of cereal or a piece of toast. For those with heartier appetites it may consist of eggs and bacon, pancakes, or an omelet. In Nigeria, most people do not have breakfast. With the hearty appetite Nigerian natives have, we usually save room for lunch and dinnertime, which normally consists of very large portions of food, my friend Clara who is a native of Nigeria ... • 34. Jean Paul Sartre on the Anti Semite Essay Jean Paul Sartre on the Anti Semite Describe the anti semitic person s attitude toward reason. How does his attitude toward reason reflect or reveal his general attitude toward life, the human condition and even himself? How does his attitude toward reason compare to the attitude of the rational man? Sartre explains that an Anti Semite is impenetrable , and it is actually something he strives to achieve. By gaining impenetrability, the Anti Semite strengthens his beliefs because another person is not capable of reasoning with him. Sartre believes the Anti Semite s reason is based on the passion for hatred that he holds for the Jew. Sartre uses the word monoideism to explain the irrational Anti Semite s passion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The rational man is open to all ideas; he strives to gain more factual information to back his views. However, the Anti Semite remains closed minded and chooses to be ignorant to the fact that his beliefs are not valid. The rational man seeks information, and does not feel content until his quest for knowledge is over. The rational man is even hesitant when he states his ideas, or comes to conclusions. He realizes that there are other views on every subject, and he wants to contemplate over every possible idea that he is able to think of until he reaches his own. The reasonable man will even admit when he is proven wrong, and change his view. The Anti Semite wishes not to change, and claims, even when proven wrong, that his beliefs are still of a valid and true nature. Sartre believes the actual content of truth frightens the Anti Semite. The idea of there being other views is ignored by the Anti Semite. He chooses to remain innate . They want to come to a conclusion right away, and consider only the factors that benefit him. Sartre blames the Anti Semites ability to ignore reasoning and research on emotional bias . Through this emotional bias, he feels at ease because he is in a state of bliss; he feels as though he knows all he needs to know about life. In conclusion, the Anti Semite disregards any other ideas besides his own, and those of his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. As the saying goes no good deed goes unrewarded.... As the saying goes no good deed goes unrewarded. Coleridge, in his poem The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, tells a story that no evil deed shall go unpunished. For every action there is an appropriate consequence equal to or greater than the original action. In the poem, The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Coleridge explains this through the crime committed by the ancient Mariner and the consequences forced upon him for his actions as seemed fit by the spiritual world. The albatross had flown to the side of the Mariner s ship and guided the ship through the fog. At lengths did cross an albatross through the fog it came; As if it had been a Christian soul, we hailed it in God s name. (64 66). Coleridge tells us that the albatross was a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe that the events to fall upon the ancient mariner are consequences for blessings he destroyed. The second punishment was more of a physiologic punishment placed upon the Ancient Mariner instead of a physical one. Life and death soon appear and play a game of chance to determine the fortune of the Mariner and his crew. the game is done, I ve won. (43). Winning the game apparently means survival as death takes the lives of the two hundred men aboard the ship. Life in death nonetheless blesses the Mariner with eternal life. This had become his punishment because the Mariner could no longer pray, sleep, and every day must live with the agonizing loss of his men aboard his now forsaken ship. Alone, Alone, all, all alone, Alone on a wide wide sea! And never a saint took pity on My soul in agony. (236 39). It is clear that the Ancient Mariner is being punished by the divine. In the same way the Mariner killed the Albatross the spiritual forces are in a way killing him. The Albatross is dead and now the Ancient Mariner is metaphorically dead also. This is apparent as the Mariner has been isolated in the middle of the ocean where everything all around him is the same and lifeless. Just as if he were to be dead and buried in the ground, there would be dirt to his left and to his right without a single soul to keep him company. The only way for the Mariner to ease his pain is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
