Dr. Martin Luther King’s Why We Cant Wait Essay
Dr. Martin Luther King s Why We Cant Wait While reading Dr. King s novel, I was able to get an
uncensored idea of what African Americans went through in their struggle for civil rights. I cannot
comprehend the extent to which they suffered while protesting, and it would be ignorant of me to
think that I could understand. The many people who fought with Martin Luther King, Jr. for civil
rightsunderstand something about this country that I am only beginning to discover. I can only
hope this shameful part of our history is never repeated.
I felt a sense of disgust and shame while reading about the events of the Civil Rights struggle in
Birmingham, Alabama. I have always heard that they would used dogs and water hoses to push ...

How could people think that this kind of oppression was tolerable and that the blacks did not have
a right and freedom to protest?
Part of me wanted to be there to help make a difference and join in the struggle, but part of me
was also really afraid just by reading about the events in Birmingham. The people who protested
with Dr. King showed a tremendous amount of courage and passion that could not be put out by
fire hoses or dogs. I do not think that anyone, who has not been the victim of the extreme
oppression that the blacks were victims of for hundreds of years, could understand why the civil
rights movement was necessary at that time. Dr. King realized that you cannot wait for people
to change their attitudes or beliefs, you have to help them see the error of their beliefs. It is easy
for someone who is not being oppressed to tell you to wait. When you and your families are the
victims of oppression and violence, you reach a breaking point when you realize that things need to
change now. Dr. King had the courage to say that publicly, and people followed him in the struggle
because of that courage.
When you believe in something that much nothing, not even death can stop the struggle. Even after
Dr. King was assassinated, his legacy lived on. His legacy was something that was

European Exploration
During the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries small groups financed by private businesses carried
out the first phase of European exploration. Members of the noble or merchant class typically
funded these early expeditions. Over time, as it became clear that global exploration was
extremely profitable, European states took on a primary role. The next phase of exploration
involved voyages taken in the name of a particular empire and monarch (e.g., France or Spain).
The Iberian empires of Spain and Portugal were some of the earliest states to embark on new
voyages of exploration. In addition to seeking luxury goods, the Spanish empire was driven by its
quest for American silver. The age of European exploration and discovery represented a new period

The Pros And Cons Of Blue Collar Work
Why is it that blue collar work is looked down on compared to white collar work? There is equal
value in work between the two types of jobs. Blue collar workers are working twice as hard as
white collar workers. They are having to use their hands and their brain to succeed at what they
do. Blue collar workers are not uneducated, they have to be smart to do their job. Also, without
blue collar workers, white collar work would not even exist. A common misconception is that
blue collar workers are not as educated as white collar workers. This is simply untrue, these jobs
require workers to be able to work smart. These workers are not only having to use their hands,
but also their brain. In the article, the author talks about what he has seen at a diner where his
mother worked. He notices how the waitress would watch the room and note who needed a refill,
whose order was taking long, and who was finishing up. It states in the article that She would...

If this was the case, some of these workers would not be able to do their job, that require smart
employees that can think. According to the article, many assume that intelligence is closely
related to education; meaning the type of education, how much, and how long. Some blue collar
jobs do require less education, but the workers are still extremely skilled at what they do. These
workers have to be precise and get their jobs done the right way every time. If all blue collar
workers were undereducated, they would not be able to handle this type of work. There is equal
value in blue collar work and white collar work. Not one type of work is better than the other in the
term of value . Blue collar work may not be as glamorous, but it does not mean it should not be
respected. Both types of work require skill, smartwork, and some form of education. No matter if
you are working behind a desk, or at a factory; a job is a

financially and academically. (At least 50 words minimum, no set maximum.) Once as a small

even how old I was. What I do remember is being in invited by the pilot into the cockpit, and
seeing the sky with the top of clouds below. From then on, I wanted flight to be a significant part of
my future. At first I thought I would be a pilot, but though my high school engineering class, I

Friday Night Lights Should Be Banned In Public Schools
The story Friday Night Lights takes place in a small town called Odessa, Texas in the year of 1988.
After every year of football they hang a picture of each player who made All State. This reminds
the rest of them what glory looks like. Friday Night Lights gives a perspective of how every small
town high schools are and is very popular for it, however it should be banned in our public schools
because it contains profanity, racism terms, and sexually situations; the results of reading this book
can cause more teenagers or even children to use offensive language, cause more racism than there
already is, and be sexual at a young age. Despite that students now use profanity in their public
schools and even more out of school, this could cause more children and teens to use the offensive
language around their peers.
As Jerrod McDougal states in the book, I ve got no idea what I want to do. I ve got no idea what
school I want to go to. My SAT won t be worth shit. And no football schools want me, (Bissinger
308). When McDougal says this, it represented the confusion of about 90 other football players.
After every year Permian football is over; two teenage boys have the opportunity to have a shot
for college football. However, the others just have the memories to look back on. Accordingly to
TIME it states, The researchers found that on an average teen novels contain 38 instances of
profanity, which translates to nearly seven curse words per hour of reading, (Sifferlin).

Comparison Between Metal and Grunge Music Essay
The musical genres for metal and grunge are often mistaken for the same genre. Many people
make this mistake because the two are often loud, and the person listening to it does not give the
music a chance to show its differences. Nevertheless, the two genres of music have some
similarities, but also several important differences. One similarity that the two genres share is their
guitar tones. Both of these genres use extreme amounts of distortion in their guitar playing. Both
also have the high settings on their amps set to a higher level than their mids, to give the guitar
tone a crisp crunchy sound. Grunge and metal are also known for their driving bass tone, which
comes from the over driven bass guitar. Though these two genres are... Show more content on

Metal music is also known for its complicated and intricate guitar riffs. Grunge however, is
generally sloppy and repetitive guitar riffs. Also, most every metal guitar player takes pride in his
writing and style of playing; grunge guitarists take pride in not trying at all. Both the metal and
grunge styles have aggressive screaming and yelling vocals. Both genres, along with the aggressive
vocals, mix melodic singing into their songs. Both styles of music evolved their vocal techniques
from the violent vocals of the early punk rock bands such as The Sex Pistols and The Clash. The
aggressive screaming vocals came from The Sex Pistols, whereas the melodic singing vocals
came from bands such as The Clash. Even though the two genres use the same style of singing,
they have very different lyrical styles. Most grunge lyricists write of either real, personal
experiences, or someone else s tragic experience, making grunge much more personal to the
listener. Metal lyrics generally consist of fictional events and characters. Metal drumming, like
metal guitar playing, requires extreme skill, and talent. It is often fast and aggressive. The
drummer uses either a double bass pedal, or two bass drums for an even faster and more dramatic
sound. The drums in metal are used to give a driving feeling. Grunge drumming is usually simple
and steady. This drumming style, unlike

Aryan Culture
Term Paper Aryan and Hindu Culture One of the largest and most popular cultures in India is
the Aryan Culture. The Aryan culture was based on parts of modern day Pakistan and the upper
west parts of India. The Aryans were not originally from India. They were a very war like people
and invaded through the Khyber Pass in the upper west region of India. They invaded between
the years of 2000 1000 BCE and invaded in multiple successful waves. The success of the Aryan
invasion was mostly attributed to their use of more advanced technologies. The advanced
technologies included horse drawn chariots that had small and light spiked wheels attached to
them as well as superior bronze weaponry. The people that were settles in the area being invaded
had, at most, stonge age type weaponry, such as spears and possibly bows, and maybe an ox
cart for travelling. Through many years of invasions and many different leaders, they settled
throughout the Indus Valley region and later spread into other parts around the year 1500 BCE,
replacing the Dravidian people who currently were settled in the area. The Aryan culture was
made up of mostly semi nomadic people as well as herdsman who raised chickens and cows and
many were farmers who grew crops in the rich soil near the Indus Valley river. The word Aryan
comes from the Sanskrit word ДЃrya, which means Noble One or Noble . The Aryan people are the
common ancestor culture to the Persians, Celts, pre Homeric Greeks, and the Teutons. They had

Essay about The Zebra Mussel
Populations of the zebra mussel, Dreissena polymorpha (Pallas), were first found in the Laurentian
Great Lakes in 1988 (Hebert et al., 1989). This species is native to the Caspian, Aral, and Black
Seas and the rivers that drain into them but has spread throughout Europe, principally during the
18th century. Since it is restricted to estuarine and freshwater habitats, it is presumed that it was
introduced into North America by ballast waters of transoceanic vessels. Based on the substantial
amount of genetic variation found in these initial populations, as estimated from electrophoretic
variation of allozymes, the colonization of the Great Lakeswas by a large number of immigrants and
not just a few founders... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This blockage can result in heat damage to power plants and necessitates costly removal or
replacement of intake pipes (Minchin and Moriarty, 1998).
Colonization by zebra mussels has devastating ecological impacts on native bivalves (Mackie,
1991; Haag et al., 1993), frequently driving them to local extinction. Zebra mussels readily, perhaps
preferentially, settle on native bivalves and eventually cover them over. They filter the water so
efficiently that they can lower the amount of suspended food organisms below levels needed to
sustain native unionids.
Their success in spreading rapidly and colonizing new areas is due to two features of zebra mussel
biology. Firstly, zebra mussels produce large numbers ( gt; 30,000 per female) of planktotrophic
veliger larvae which can survive for 10 15 days (Hebert et al., 1989). Such larvae are well suited
for efficient dispersal by water currents, especially in riverine systems. Additionally, they don t
require the presence of suitable host species of fish, as do native unionid larvae. Secondly, the
spread of zebra mussels is aided by their ability to attach to objects by byssal threads (the same
ability that leads to their fouling problems). Because of this ability, adult zebra mussels can attach
to and be spread by ships,

The Lobed Bowl
The Lobed bowl with seated figure and attendants was an important art material to the caliphates
and dynasties that were present at the late 12th and early 13th century. The bowl signified artistic
achievement, exemplified by the development of painted decoration in Iraq in the 11th century. In
this paper, I will be stating some observations I made from studying the Lobed Bowl, these
observations will include: the material, surface texture, use of color, size and the composition use of
line. The Lobbed Bowl signifies royalty. The curvy edge of the bowl. The curve line of the bowl
conveys energy. The soft, shallow curves have a pleasing, sensual quality and a softening effect on

There is also a presence of regularly repeating pattern of lines around the bowl. These lines are
painted in different colors and comes from the bottom of the bowl upward. I believe the lobed
bowl must have been inspired by culture. The luxurious look of the bowl portrays that it was used
by the king or members of the royal family for. I believe that the use and the beauty of the lobed
bowl go hand in hand. They are two inseparable aspects of perfection, being a material used by the
royal family.
Inside the bowl, we can see people seating on horses. I believe these people represent the palace
guards, or guards who were victorious in a war and are celebrating on their horses. At the center
of the bowl, we see a figure seated and two people attending to the figure. I believe that the figure
seated was the king during that time, and the people beside him were his attendants. When we
look inside bowl, next to the seated figure are camels. Since Camel are used by merchants for
caring merchandise, I would say that the camels represented the business or economy of that

Choosing a Major Essay
Choosing a Major
Some people already know by the age of seven that they want to become a pilot or nurse; others,
however, have more difficulties deciding what to do with their future. People who decided to go to
a university or college have to make an important choice: what major are they going into? For many
people this is a very difficult question. As the statistics show, one out of five students change their
major between admission and the first day of classes. Nearly three out of four students change
majors at least twice before they graduate. And three out of four college students express uncertainly
about their major. These striking results raised some questions for me. Is it really necessary to
choose a major? What influence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You can t learn much biology without learning the connections to chemistry or physics. You can t
analyze much sociological data without realizing that you need to know statistics, political
structures, historical patterns, and cultural qualities. In every field of inquiry both the methods and
the content are linked to other fields. Northrop explains. So, one of the things you learn in a major
is the interdependence of knowledge. P. Rose, director of CareerPlanning and Placement at the
University of Pennsylvania, agrees. She sees a major as the window you are picking from which
to view the world. Since a rigorous study in that major will lead you to related disciplines, it will
also provide a framework for investigation of disciplines far removed from the major itself.
Nonetheless, Rose thinks you need a foundation to build on first. After you achieved a significant
depth of understanding in one discipline that is your major, then you will have patterns and
solutions that you could apply in a totally different field. Thus, your major is the necessary
foundation to engage in creative problem solving in other fields.
Whatever reason you have for deciding on a major, the colleges require you to do so. What is
your intended major? is a frequently asked question on the many college application forms. But
how do you know what to choose before you get there? There may be some fields you

White Collar Crime And Nonviolar Crime
When we think of crime today what comes to mind? The robbing of a gas station? Breaking and
entering into a house at night? Murder? While it is true that all of these are indeed forms of crime
there is another criminal component in today s world that does not get recognized as much as the
others. This is white collar crime. In white collar crime, the victim rarely sees the offender face to
face. Instead technology is used to create false financial statements and steal money from
corporations, individuals, or both.
Simply defined, white collar crime can be described as A nonviolent crime committed for financial
gain. White collar crime can occur in the form of securities fraud, embezzlement, money laundering,
and other illegal activities than generate financial returns outside of legal practices. In the
extremely competitive business world, white collar crime and other scandals are unfortunately
very common. Just recently one of the United States largest banking companies, Wells Fargo,
was found to have generated over 3 million fake banking or credit card accounts. The source of
these fake accounts stems from lofty sales goals set by the Wells Fargo management team. As
employees struggle to meet goals and keep their jobs, good people can turn to bad and often illegal
decisions to stay afloat.
Money has been, and always will be one of the most motivational rewards our world has to offer
to the aspiring businessman. We as a society look at the titans of business as gods

Evaluation Of A Cooperative Learning Device Essay
For students to receive a more effective and meaningful academic experience, a diverse
pedagogical methodology for enhanced and relevant learning is required. Various strategies are
available to engage adolescent students toward a more fruitful learning experience. The jigsaw
method, a cooperative learning device, is a project based exercise whereby students assume specific
roles for content mastery and conduct tasks with an interdependence on one another for deeper
learning on multiple aspects of a subject toward better comprehension and fully reaching the
intended objectives. This strategy is useful in putting students in an active role while investigating
subject matter. It is also a chance for teachers to allow students to discover and find options to fit
their own learning styles and presentational preferences. Not all teachers prefer this method nor find
it most applicable to their discipline, however. Students often may find that evaluation based on
peer project completion is not representative of their personal abilities. Applied appropriately and
accordingly, the jigsaw method has the potential to create interdisciplinary relevance of the topic,
widen a students breadth of subject analysis, and change their classroom outlook from dread to
enthusiasm.

We mixed Mg and CuCl2 together and the magnesium began to change due to the reaction. We
mixed Zn and CuCl2 together and saw that the Zinc has began to change it s color due to its
reaction. We mixed Mg, Fe and Zn with Fe(NO3)3 and saw that they all had a reaction and began

being one. The metals from least to most reactive are Mg, Zn, Fe, Cu. My lab results matched

Descriptive Essay On The Mountains
Going and taking micro adventures to the mountains which were fairly close to my house was a
bit of a semi common thing, however going with only friends of mine was a thing I didn t do at
all. When the suggestion to go up by my friend Alex was made, Jesse and I quickly agreed to go
along with this plan. We then proceeded to make our way to the mountain and as we were driving
up I decidedto chime in and make a suggestion, saying We should climbup from the base of the
waterfall everybody else quickly agreed since that seemed to be a nice little leisure activity for a
group of teenagers. With the weather slowly warming melting the snow on the mountains
causing water flow the scenery was just gorgeous, with many rocks having a bright reflective
look caused by the sun and water interacting. This scenery was just perfect for a climb up the fall.
As we climbed we all took notice of just how pretty the mountain was. Seeing trees, rocks, water
spiders, and many other things we don t see every single day. As we continued up the mountain
we eventually got this amazing area with some more reflective brown gorgeous rocks that were
similar to a bunch of tiny steps. With all the water running down the rocks my dark brown
Sperry s I decided to wear started to show why they were called boat shoes this is because they
were quite good at sticking to surfaces without slipping. Even though highly unorthodox with
my shoes for some reason they seemed to work quite well except for coming untied more times
than I would have enjoyed. As we continued to climb we took a few group pictures as well as
making a fair amount of jokes to help ease our minds off of the physical work we were putting
into climbing up this mountain. After we climbed up for about fifteen minutes much of the
rocks that had places for our feet to go into and cradle providing full support were gone and
being left with solely smooth rocks that if you wanted you could slide down with relative ease.
So the rate at which we were scaling these rocks had to slow, however not terribly but our speed
was crippled by being a little more cognizant and careful. Never the less we continued to climb up,
eventually a few more these rocksteps showed up and of course we

The Jewish Community of Argentina Essay
The Jewish Community of Argentina
Argentina is the second largest nation in Lain America and boasts the largest Jewish community
in the region (200,000 of its 35 million people). From an open door policy of immigration to the
harboring of Nazi war criminals, Argentina s Jews have faced period of peaceful coexistence and
periods of intense anti Semitism.
Argentina s Jews have numerous Jewish community organizations. The DIAI (Delegacion de
Asociaciones Israelitas Argentinas) was founded in 1939 as the political arm of the Jewish
community. The DIAI protects Jewish rights and represents the community in the government.
Another organization, the AMIA, an Ashkenazic mutual aid society, provides health and human

In 1889, 824 Russian Jews arrived in Argentina on the SS Weser and became gauchos (Argentine
cowboys). The gauchos bought land and established a colony, which they named Moiseville. Due to
lack of funding, the gauchos appealed to Baron Maurice de Hirsch for funds and the Baron
subsequently founded the Jewish Colonization Association. During its heyday, the Association
owned more than 600,000 hectares of land, populated by more than 200,000 Jews. While non Jews
now own many of these cooperative ranches, Jews continue to run some of the properties.
Between 1906 and 1912, Jewish immigration increased at a rate of 13,000 immigrants per year.
Most of the immigrants were Ashkenazi Jews from Europe, but a number of Sephardic Jews from
Morocco and the Ottoman Empire also settled in Argentina. By 1920, more than 150,000 Jews were
living in Argentina.
Anti Semitic attacks against Jews were infrequent in Argentina before World War I. Following the
Russian Revolution, between 1918 and 1930, anti revolutionary feelings developed into full blown
anti Semitism against the Rusos. From January 7 13, 1919, a general strike in Buenos Aires led to
a pogrom against the Jews. Many were beaten and had their property burned and looted.i
Despite anti Semitic actions against the Jews and increasing xenophobia, Jews became involved in
most sectors of Argentine society. Still they were unable to be work in the government or military
and so many became farmers, peddlers, artisans and

Mending Wall Research Paper
The discoveries we make can come as a result of questioning society and the world around us.
Conversely, discoveries can also be the catalyst for us questioning our world and society. These
discoveries, while sometimes uncomfortable, are what allow us to develop as people, through the
consideration of new values, and revelations of different perspectives. Robert Frost explores this in
his 1914 poem Mending Wall, where the persona makes spiritual and intellectual discoveries,
causing the questioning of traditions, societal barriers, and humanrelationships. The first person

In this paper I have defined accrual and cash basis accounting. Also, I have answered the
following questions: Explain the difference between the accrual basis of accounting and the cash
basis of accounting. What are the major reasons for using accrual accounting? What are the
purpose of a journal and a ledger? Give an example of a contra asset, and explain how it is
recorded on the ledger as a transaction. Explain what a prepaid expense is and how it is recorded
on the ledger as a transaction. What are the major differences in recording transactions for a for

A prepaid expense, such as rent or insurance, is a type of current asset. It is recorded by decreasing
Cash and increasing the prepaid amount by the same amount. Thus, the transaction only occurs in
the Asset section of the Balance Sheet, and it is a zero sum transaction.
What are the major differences in recording transactions for a for profit organization versus a not
for profit, or are there any? For profit organization would record certain transactions under Owner s
Equity, whereas the Not for Profit would use Net Assets. Also, a for profit would not show
restrictions on Owners Equity.

Anthropomorphism In Maus
In response to Art Spiegelman s graphic novel, Maus, I have created a sequential art series, which
would be considered a comic (Eisner, 2008). This comic titled, Holocaust, explores the complexities
of survival despite extreme persecution a prevalent theme in Maus. I have also used
anthropomorphism in these illustrations, which also has a strong presence in Maus. In this comic a
forest is persecuted as it is set on fire, all the trees of this forest face danger and a high likelihood
of death; comparable to the extreme persecution of Jewish people at the hands of the Third Reich s
final solution (United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, n.d.), which is investigated by Art in
Maus. In order to make a response that is effective in its communication and has aesthetic value I
have used various literary, artistic and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similar to Spiegelman I have used anthropomorphism to develop a metaphor throughout the comic;
the fire is representative of persecution, while the trees are any ethnic or social minority. In my
series the trees have been given human characteristics, including the ability to walk, run, and
express emotion through body language and facial expression and also human instincts, the major
instinct being to survive at any consequence. While Spiegelman uses anthropomorphism to
demonstrate dehumanization of Jews and the relationship between Nazis and Jews during the
Holocaust, I have used anthropomorphism to influence the target audience and express the stripping
of human rights in subjugating people to persecution. The trees in Holocaust are burned and
stripped of their bark exposing the trees to further burns; this is representative of the stripping of
basic human rights allowing further persecution (Carmichael,

Disobeying Unjust Laws In Julie Otsuka s When The Emperor...
Thoreau and King s philosophy of disobeying unjust laws that were created without the consent of
the general public could have greatly benefitted the mother from Julie Otsuka s novel When the
Emperor was Divine. Ultimately, if the mother used this technique of disobeying an immoral law,
she could have fought against the devastating injustice of internmentwhich led to her as well as
other Japanese Americans to have negative psychological effects as a result of racism and
marginalization. King s teachings could have positively impacted the mother as he advocated for
disobeying a law that dehumanizes an ethnic group, especially if the group had no say in the
enactment of the law. The government s degradation of Japanese Americans had negative
consequences on the mother as she attempted to hide her Japanese identity, but King s principles
could have helped the mother realize the unfairness of the passing of the government s policies
which would lead to her combating its racism. In King s letter, he makes evident the differences
between moral and unjust laws. He explains his logic for breaking the law as he felt he had no
choice in the creation of the laws which targeted African Americans and kept them inferior.
Specifically, King explains how the segregation laws were inflicted upon a minority even though
the minority had no part in enacting and devising the law which aligns with how the legislature
who created the laws were not democratically elected since blacks were

that the Smithsonian only undertake programs that cannot be adequately carried out by existing

to Knowledge, and periodical reports on scientific progress. (siarchives/history) The system of
international exchanges began in 1849 with the Smithsonian providing a clearinghouse function for
the exchange of literacy and scientific works between societies and individuals in this country and

Examples Of Informal Deviance
The extra credit assignment I chose to talk about was the Informal and Formal deviance talked
about in Dalton Conley s book You may ask yourself . According to Conley, there are two forms of
deviance, formal and informal. The informal aspect is one where there is no law being broken but
more along the lines of breaking a social norm. The second form of deviance is formal and this is
where a law is broken and you will be punished accordingly (Conley, D. 2017. P. 191). In my image
above the white man is drinking out of the colored water fountain which back in the 1940 s was
illegal and this is a formal deviance, or crime, which is the violation of laws enacted by society.

Emmeline Pankhurst Women To Vote Analysis

Emmeline Pankhurst is a strong activist for women s right to vote. She was a British activist who
wanted to have women s voices heard and taken seriously. Pankhurst has taken steps to reach her
goal, of having women to vote, by forming a union called Women s Social and Political Union. In
creating this it has gathered women all over who have the same mindset as her. This has helped
Pankhurst with some sort of military tactics to be carried out. The tactics started off as nonviolent
movement and became a violent movement. The Women s Social and Political Union had put in

It means that women would be able to have more control over their own lives. Pankhurst felt as
though if women had the ability to vote then their would be equal laws put in action. In The
Importance of the Vote Pankhurst elaborates on this further. She takes the issues that concern
women that are controlled by men to help get her point across, on how if women were allowed
to vote it could change for the better. Pankhurst mentions, We should have equal laws for divorce,
and the law should recognize that they have two parents (34). She talks about how when parents
are married, the mom is responsible for the child and the same goes for when the parents decide
to have a divorce. When the parents divorced the mother would have to go out to look for work,
which meant the child would not receive proper care. The mom would then have to face time in
prison, hence why Pankhurst wanted to have equal laws so there can be a compromise. She also
uses another point in that piece on the inheritance laws. Pankhurst mentions, When you look at
the laws of inheritance in this country, it makes you smile to hear that argument...Men have
taken very good care that women do not inherit until all male heirs are exhausted (35). Men have
oppressed women from having any type of control over owning land. They would give it to the
oldest male heir or the next male making it unfair for women. Pankhurst was trying to say by
having equal laws the oldest child can take over the heir whether they are male or female. It can be
a big game changer for

The Sports Supplement industry is rapidly growing and making an enormous profit off of their
products when most of them don t even work anyway. Forbes has stated that the supplement
industry took in $32 billion dollars in 2012. The Nutritional Business Journal projects that the
number will jump to $60 billion dollars by the year 2021. The reason I want to share this is
because you can save so much money by not buying supplements or if you do then just purchase
the ones that have actual scientific proof to benefit you. I like many people have been a victim
of the supplement industry. I was baited in just like everyone else with the guaranteed lean
muscle gains or rapid fat burn . The outrageous claims are everywhere! If you go through a

years of buying supplements and wasting my money. After about a year of buying supplements that

Emergency Shutdown Procedures And Its Effects On The World...
On the 11th of March, 2011, a 9.0 magnitude earthquake struck near the eastern coast of Japan.
Emergency shutdown procedures went into effect when the earthquake was spotted, but this was
not the main cause of the destruction of the nuclear reactor. The first line of defense was to
immediately stop the nuclear fissionwithin the reactor by inserting neutronabsorbing rods to stop
the reaction. After the engineers successfully stopped the nuclear fission reaction, immense heat
and pressure was still prominent and needed to be relieved as soon as possible. Fresh water was
brought in and dumped onto the rods but a tsunami inevitably followed as soon as the earthquake
was felt as the source of the natural disaster was on the ocean floor. The tidal wave severely
damaged the power supply system that was meant to maintain the flow was cold water. On March
12, 2011, diesel powered generators were initiated in an attempt to alleviate the failure of the
generators that were powering the entire plant. Unfortunately, the diesel powered generator was
insufficient enough to cool the large reactor as the heat building up within was accumulating in
large amounts; more than what nuclear engineers originally presumed. Water continued to
evaporate causing a hydrogen gas to form when the fuel rods underwent a chemical reaction with
the steam. Hydrogen gas is an important element to take into consideration as too much of this
element can cause an explosion within the reactor. Workers quickly

How Did The Meiji Restoration Improve The Government Of...
The top to bottom Japanese revolution known as the Meiji Restoration occurred in 1868 and it
completely changed the system of government of Japan, which had been under the strict control of
the absolute rule of the Tokugawa Shoguns that kept Japan in a feudal state. The Tokugawa
government also kept Japan, for the most part, isolated from the rest of the world believing that
they had no need for Western ideas. All that changed under the fiction of the restoration of the

A Doll s House And The Glass Menagerie
Symbolism is frequently used in dramatic works to represent abstract ideas and qualities,
potentially in the form of people, objects, places, or actions. Henrik Ibsen s A Doll s House and
Tennessee Williams The Glass Menagerie each include various symbols to represent the social
messages that the authors are trying to convey to the audience. In A Doll s House, the central
character, Nora Helmer, can be seen as a symbolherself. Her family and her husband treat her like
a doll, and this oppression and condescension is the reason for her inner unhappiness and longing
for independence. As well, Ibsen also focuses on the solo dance that Nora performs the Tarantella.
This dance emphasizes Nora s feelings of separation and isolation from her... Show more content on

The importance of the fire escape is pronounced right at the beginning of the play: The apartment
faces an alley and is entered by a fire escape, a structure whose name is a touch of accidental
poetic truth, for all of these huge buildings are always burning with slow and implacable fires of
human desperation (Williams 1). The fire escape is used by all of the characters to ordinarily
enter and exit the apartment, but it is also a means of escape. Laura Wingfield suffers from a
bad leg that makes her incapable of leaving her home. Since it is too difficult for her to use the
stairs of the fire escape to leave, she prefers the safety of the apartment. The one time Laura
returns from the store and uses the fire escape she trips on the stairs, clearly demonstrating how
vulnerable she is in the outside world, and how greatly she is bound to her private world within
the apartment. Conversely, Tom Wingfield, Laura s brother, wants nothing more than to follow in
his father s footsteps and leave his family behind. He frequently uses the fire escape to go out and
smoke, which shows just how much he dislikes life inside of the apartment, and foreshadows his
eventual getaway. Williams hints at escape throughout the entire play, highlighting it as one of the
key themes. Tom is constantly comparing the loyalty he feels towards his mother and sister versus
his true longing to leave home and be free of the confines of

Analysis Of Sam Walton s Vision
In 1963, Sam Walton had a vision. A vision, that he could bring what the consumers needed, to
them, at the lowest price possible. Mr. Walton believed that a company could not be run by just
one person, it had to take team work. With Mr. Walton relying on his associates at the lowest
level possible, he created the retail empire known today as Walmart. Mr. Sam, as he was
referred to, would visit each and every store to learn about its culture. He would sit down with
each and every associate and get ideas, comments, concerns, and anything that the associates
wanted to talk to him about. This practice allowed for Walmart to create a culture of its own. A
culture where each person makes a difference, no matter what your background or life style. The
cultural synergy remains the same today. This philosophy is the basis for Walmart s slogan,
Every person makes a difference. Sam Walton knew that in order to be successful he needed to
hear from everyone, to make everyone a spokesperson for the company. Many of the ideas that
have been put into play have come from the lower level associates who never thought they could
make a difference. Each associate comes from a different walk of life and background. This leads
to the diverse workforce that Walmart has today. Sam s practices have been instilled in today s
current CEO, Doug McMillion. Doug McMillion, only the fourth CEO of Walmart since Sam

Analysis Of The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald
Superheroes have been scrutinized for several for methods dealing with criminals and how they
react in their everyday lives. Inner personal problems of a hero have a way to change the
meaning of their status and affect the effectiveness of a hero s influence and philosophical
meaning. This is usually forced into comic books and movies to give a character an air of grit in
their media. Sometimes this creates a beautiful masterpiece of story and introduces depth to the
character, but it can also have a detrimental to the image of the character. Taking a darker tone with
a superherotype character is ultimately a bad idea in the long run because it s is hard to create a
mature story with most characters without deviating from what the fans believe in the character
and how they are seen by others causing problems for the parent company, giving characters a
darker tone can destroy a classic character s easily recognizable characteristics also, the move can
sink a company whose reputation was ruined by the decision. Having a fantastical ability is
always a hindrance when writing a serious or dark story because there is the need to ground the
story in realism and believability. Darker superhero stories can t handle superpowers well within the
story telling and writing. Most darker stories who have a character with extremely unusual
superpowers tend to have either a convoluted plots or just destroys the meaning of the character to
the point where people hate the new representation.

More than fifty million Americans struggle with a form of acne, making it the most common
skin disorder in the United States alone. An FDA approved drug Accutane has helped many
people cure many issues, but also has times where it has done more bad than good. This drug,
that has helped people clear their severe acne, also has been linked to suicidal thoughts,
depression, birth defects and many more. This drug although is still available on the market, and
has been effective in approximately eighty percent of the users, making it a popular drug to

drug including the background, conditions this drug is used for, the impact of this drug on dental
appointments, and most importantly the side effects and drug interactions for this schedule two
drug, are important factors relating to the user s overall health. This drug being a schedule two
means it can not be refilled nor called in. With schedule two drugs, there is a high possibility for
potential of abuse. This abuse can be in ways of physiological or physical dependence (Haveles,

Analysis Of The Novel Mrs. Richard Dalloway
By the end of the novel, it is evident that Woolf uses the Septimus subplot in order to establish
Clarissa and Septimus unified vision of an oppressive society, despite their opposing
backgrounds and mental conditions. Clarissa, on one hand, chose the safe route. She married a
well off politician, and lives a materially satisfying lifestyle. However, she constantly questions
her life choices and is plagued by self doubt. She seems to have lost her sense of self, seeing
herself simply as Mrs. Richard Dalloway (10). Her lifestyle causes her to become concerned
with her image in society, and she becomes burdened by her constant worry about living up to
her role as a politician s wife. Septimus, on the other hand, risks his life to fight in the war,
resulting in a bad case of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. In addition, the war hardened him in
some ways. After his friend Evans death, Septimus becomes worries with his lack of an
emotional response. He feels a certain detachment from his feelings, yet imagines Evans
throughout the day, perhaps trying to evoke some sort of feeling. Septimus describes his
detachment by explaining that it is as if he [has] been dead, and yet [he is still] alive (69). While
he is physically there, his realization of his emptiness causes him to often zone out and become
absent to the world around him. In this way, Septimus experiences a greater degree of mental
instability than Clarissa. He has seen the horrors of war, giving him the undesirable

The Studio System In The Golden Age Of Hollywood
The continuing success of the film industry and the subsequent ticket sale receipts proved that the
American public was interested in motion pictures and willing to pay for it. The introduction of
sound and an ever increasing production value was putting customers into seats. The idea was to
get the public out of the house and into the theater, give them what they wanted and thus help them
forget the Depression and the anxieties caused by the events leading up to the Second World War
(Barsam 427). What better way to make the most money out of movies than to control all aspects
of the industry, thus making money each step of the way. This was the studio system in the golden

Most American in The Profit of the Smoky Mountains Essay
LITR221
Due: 23 November 2014
Granny (Mis Cayce) A Unique American Woman What makes Appalachian Americans unique?
Starting with characteristics one that most Appalachian s share is an intense desire for freedom.
Freedom to live as they pleased, with lots of space to themselves elbow room , as Appalachian
Daniel Boone used to say. People who settled Appalachiawere not inclined to be bound to
institutions, religious or otherwise. Those ties and that external authority were part of what they
wanted to leave behind. These people brought their traditions, values and beliefs with them. They
came into contact with Native Americans, and while doubtless there were fights for land, the
settlers and Indians reached an understanding (How ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Southern mountain dialect (as the folk speech of Appalachia is called by linguists) is certainly
archaic, but the general historical period it represents can be narrowed down to the days of the
first Queen Elizabeth, and can be further particularized by saying that what is heard today is
actually a sort of Scottish flavored Elizabethan English. This is not to say that Chaucerian forms
will not be heard in everyday use, and even an occasional Anglo Saxon one as well (Dial). While
searching The Profit of the Great Smoky Mountains one character that stands out as being a
unique American is Granny or Mis Cayce. Mis Cayce is an elderly woman whose birth was
probably in the early 1800 s in the Appalachian community she still lived in. She grew up, grew
old and will die in the region, probably without ever leaving it. In her first introduction she wore
a cap, which had a flapping frill and was surmounted by a pair of gleaming spectacles. A bandana
kerchief was crossed over her breast, and she wore a blue and white checked homespun dress of
the same pattern and style that she had worn here fifty years ago (Murfree). Her dress was that of
18th century garments. The frilled cap was probably a Bavolette which was a ribbon frill at the
back of the bonnet. Its purpose was covering the neck, which was considered an erogenous zone in
the mid 19th century (History of Hats for Women). The Bavolette

The Downfall Of Affirmative Action
Downfall of Affirmative Action Many colleges in United States are composed of an ethnically
diverse student body. One of the reasons why the student body is full of diversity is because of
the Affirmative Action. It is the policy that gives a special incentives to minorities and women to
help promote diversity in school. Though it is a great idea to promote diversity in every college in
United States, it is also a bad idea to continue this system. Many A students who are not minorities
tend to get the same treatment as the B students who are minorities. Although accepted into school,
these students who barely met the minimum criteria may have a tougher time at school because
they may not be able to keep up with the pace of the classes since the schools have high
expectations of its students. Furthermore, students who have worked hard to get good grades might
be overlooked because the students who have lower grades will be accepted simply to fulfill the
quota. Although promoting affirmative actionis a great idea to seek diversity through different
views from many different ethnicities, it will also take away people s hard work, as well as
producing more drop out students since they cannot keep up with what the university is expecting
from them. Therefore, it is not morally justifiable or socially beneficial for the students since they
may have a lower chance of succeeding at school. Affirmative action will treat the majority students
the same way as the minority

HOME AREA NETWORK
A Home Area Network is an interconnection in which some networking devices are connected with
each other for sharing resources between them with the help of internet. The main advantage of
Home Area Network is that you can share different type of content i.e. videos, audios etc. among
different users. A computer with large storage memory can be used as server which can be
easily accessed by the clients and users can easily access the data whenever they wanted to
access. As in Home Area Network everything i.e. Resources, Data, Information etc. is shared so
each user can use devices like Printers, Scanners which will be very cheap. Also another main
advantage of Home Area Network is that there is no need to buy several different Public IP Address
s for different devices, administrator of network can only have single Public IP Address and assign
this public IP address to a modem or a router, while a modem or a router in turn assigns a private IP
address to each device to access the internet.
Many people are turning to their home computers for both work and entertainment. Some companies

Fusion Research Paper
Fusion
is the process of combining the nuclei of smaller atoms(less protons neutrons and hence, a smaller
atomic number) to create a larger atom. In many stars, the process starts with hydrogen (H) atoms
combining to form helium atoms (He) then combining again to form Beryllium (Be) atoms and so
on... The process stops when all the atoms are converted to Iron (Fe) and the star is thus dead. The
reason for this is that once the atoms reach Iron and higher, the energy required to fuse the atoms
becomes greater than the energy released by the atoms.
Fusion occurs naturally in environments where a sufficiently large amount of matter is collapsed
under gravitational pressure that atoms are stripped of their electrons and nuclei have a sufficiently
low mean free path (i.e. their density is fairly high). The aggregate of matter forming such an
object is then usually referred to as a star.

A nucleus may split in many different ways, in fact it is very rare for an even split to occur, one
half being larger than the other in most cases. the mechanism maybe something like this an unstable

distorts allowing the coulomb repulsion between the positive protons to overcome the strong
nuclear attraction and separate them this forms two highly energetic halves. these may increase
their stability by emitting neutrons, these are known as prompt neutrons. Other neutrons maybe
emitted later these are known as not surprisingly delayed neutrons. There are two types of fission,
the first is spontaneous (this happens without first absorbing a neutron) and more common neutron
induced fission which is as its name

Kurt Vonnegut s Slaughterhouse Five Essay
The phrase so it goes is repeated 106 times in Kurt Vonnegut s Slaughterhouse Five. From dead
champagne to the massacre at Dresden, every death in the book is seemingly equalized with the
phrase so it goes . The continuation of this phrase ties in with the general theme on indifference in
the story. If the Tralfamadorian view of time is correct, then everyone is continuously living every
moment of their life and dying is not the end. However, if Vonnegut believed in this idea, then he
wouldn t have felt compelled to write about the firebombing of Dresden. It is clear that both Billy
Pilgrim and Kurt Vonnegutare affected by the massacre they saw, but they have different ways of
rationalizing it. Billy finds comfort in the Tralfamadorian view of life, whereas Vonnegut
disagrees, and urges the reader to disagree too. The constant repetition of so it goes breaks the
reader away from the Tralfamadorian point of view, and allows them to come to their own
conclusion that although it would be nice to forget the bad parts of life, it is important to
remember all of the past. Vonnegut helps the reader come to this conclusion by repeating the
phrase after gruesome moments, and showing how meaningless life can be if the Tralfamadorian
ideas are believed, as seen through Billy Pilgrim s bland life.. The first use of so it goes comes in
the first chapter, while Vonnegut is talking in the first person. He met a cab driver who was a
German soldier and said things were much

What Is The Dawes Act Dbq
How would you feel if the government seized your land, sold it, expected you to change your
lifestyle and then tried to convince you it is for your own benefit? In 1887, the United States
Government did exactly that to the Native American tribes with the Dawes Act. The Dawes Act
effectively split up Native American land so that non Native American people could take
possession of it. The Native American people had worked the land their entire lives, and now they
were faced with moving from their homeland and way of life for the government. The Dawes Act,
also known as the General Allotment Act, had devastating effects on the Native American
population in 1887 by stripping the people of their heritage, ideas, values, and land, and it continues

160 acres of farmland and 80 acres to every unmarried adult. Rest of the the tribal land was
considered surplus so the government could sell it to the settlers. Unfortunately, the Dawes Act led

Essay about Gods from Outer Space by Erich Von Daniken
Gods From Outer Space This was a very interesting book to read. Erich Von Daniken is the
author, whose previous works include The Chariots of the Gods and The Gold of the Gods
which in actuality was published after this one. This book right off the bat goes into some detail
about our author. It specifically says Erich Von Daniken is not a scholar. He is an autodidact,
someone who is self taught. That is what made his previous book so successful, due to the fact he
isn t impartial on anything. He his free of prejudice from colleagues and professors. His audience,

There is no concrete evidence, nor will there ever likely be any. According to the good Erich Von
Daniken the methods and regulations of archeology hinder its progress to unearth the great
mysteries of our history; new means must be achieved if the world is to ever know our true
origins. Over all this book is filled with simplistic terminology, not once did I have to run to a
dictionary to look up some scientific word. With the ease and flow of the authors words, anyone
should be able to pick this book up and jump right in. It s not even necessary to read from the
first page, you could jump right into chapter 6 and know what is going on. Each chapter deals
with a different unexplained mystery into our past, sometimes taking ideas or explanations from
a previous chapter and incorporating those into a more elaborate scheme of things later on. So,
if you jump into the middle of a theory it s definitely going to make you want to go back a little
and find out more detail about something he mentioned earlier. You really don t have to go back
to find out what s going on; the author just has a very bad habit of making you think. The
presentation and layout of his ideas are perfect; they always follow a small story or some ancient
folk lore that already get your mind flowing into the extremes possibilities of ancient history. I was
very eager to read this book,

The Plague Of The Bubonic Plague
The Bubonic Plague killed over twenty five million people during the Elizabethan Era (David
Perlin, PhD and Ann Cohen). The origins of the Black Death can be traced back to the Gobi
Desert of Mongolia in the 1320 s (Ed. Geoffrey J. et al). The Bubonic Plague has picked up many
nicknames. For example, it has been called The Black Death, and one of the four horsemen of the
apocalypse (Ed. Geoffrey J. et al). The Bubonic Plaguewas very prominent during its time with
many people s lives being affected by the treatments, preventions, and twisted theories that occurred.
The reason why the Bubonic Plague was called the Black Death is because of the black patches
on the victim s skin, hence The Black Plague. The symptoms of the Black Death started as just
being uncomfortable. First, it began with a headache, fever, severe pain in the joints, and chills.
Next, it became more severe and the victim will suffer from painful swelling in the neck, arms,
and inner thighs until they begin to ooze blood and pus. Finally, the victim would end up dying
(The Medieval Combat Society). Some important people affected by the Plague were
Shakespeare s son (The Children of William Shakespeare), Hamnet and King Edward III of
England s daughter, Joan (Plantagenet). Hamnet was one of three children, and the twin of his
sister, Judith. Sadly, he died at the age of eleven with a severe case of the Bubonic Plague (The
Children of William Shakespeare). Princess Joan died of the Bubonic

Do Supplemental Software And Technology Help English As A...
The research question the group asks is, Do supplemental software and technologies help
English as a Second Language (ESL) and English Language Learner (ELL) students in both
short and long term ways? Our target population for this study is college students that are ELLs.
Finding participants is one part of the study, but since we are researching students on a college
campus they will have to be at least 18 to 30 years old to participate in the study. UMKC has a
very large and diverse campus; we will reach out to the Applied Language Institute (ALI) students
through a class survey. We decided that college would be a better population to start out with
because it provides many social opportunities. We are looking for a population that will provide us
with direct feedback from the trial. Students in college will know how they learn and be able to
explain how technology either helped them or hurt them while learning. Having students participate
on campus also ensures that they have access to internet and WiFi. We are aware that there are
many limitations that face college students, but there are also benefits to choosing students in
college.

Dr. Martin Luther King’s Why We Cant Wait Essay Dr. Martin Luther King s Why We Cant Wait While reading Dr. King s novel, I was able to get an uncensored idea of what African Americans went through in their struggle for civil rights. I cannot comprehend the extent to which they suffered while protesting, and it would be ignorant of me to think that I could understand. The many people who fought with Martin Luther King, Jr. for civil rightsunderstand something about this country that I am only beginning to discover. I can only hope this shameful part of our history is never repeated. I felt a sense of disgust and shame while reading about the events of the Civil Rights struggle in Birmingham, Alabama. I have always heard that they would used dogs and water hoses to push ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How could people think that this kind of oppression was tolerable and that the blacks did not have a right and freedom to protest? Part of me wanted to be there to help make a difference and join in the struggle, but part of me was also really afraid just by reading about the events in Birmingham. The people who protested with Dr. King showed a tremendous amount of courage and passion that could not be put out by fire hoses or dogs. I do not think that anyone, who has not been the victim of the extreme oppression that the blacks were victims of for hundreds of years, could understand why the civil rights movement was necessary at that time. Dr. King realized that you cannot wait for people to change their attitudes or beliefs, you have to help them see the error of their beliefs. It is easy for someone who is not being oppressed to tell you to wait. When you and your families are the victims of oppression and violence, you reach a breaking point when you realize that things need to change now. Dr. King had the courage to say that publicly, and people followed him in the struggle because of that courage. When you believe in something that much nothing, not even death can stop the struggle. Even after Dr. King was assassinated, his legacy lived on. His legacy was something that was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. European Exploration During the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries small groups financed by private businesses carried out the first phase of European exploration. Members of the noble or merchant class typically funded these early expeditions. Over time, as it became clear that global exploration was extremely profitable, European states took on a primary role. The next phase of exploration involved voyages taken in the name of a particular empire and monarch (e.g., France or Spain). The Iberian empires of Spain and Portugal were some of the earliest states to embark on new voyages of exploration. In addition to seeking luxury goods, the Spanish empire was driven by its quest for American silver. The age of European exploration and discovery represented a new period ... • 4. The Pros And Cons Of Blue Collar Work Why is it that blue collar work is looked down on compared to white collar work? There is equal value in work between the two types of jobs. Blue collar workers are working twice as hard as white collar workers. They are having to use their hands and their brain to succeed at what they do. Blue collar workers are not uneducated, they have to be smart to do their job. Also, without blue collar workers, white collar work would not even exist. A common misconception is that blue collar workers are not as educated as white collar workers. This is simply untrue, these jobs require workers to be able to work smart. These workers are not only having to use their hands, but also their brain. In the article, the author talks about what he has seen at a diner where his mother worked. He notices how the waitress would watch the room and note who needed a refill, whose order was taking long, and who was finishing up. It states in the article that She would... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If this was the case, some of these workers would not be able to do their job, that require smart employees that can think. According to the article, many assume that intelligence is closely related to education; meaning the type of education, how much, and how long. Some blue collar jobs do require less education, but the workers are still extremely skilled at what they do. These workers have to be precise and get their jobs done the right way every time. If all blue collar workers were undereducated, they would not be able to handle this type of work. There is equal value in blue collar work and white collar work. Not one type of work is better than the other in the term of value . Blue collar work may not be as glamorous, but it does not mean it should not be respected. Both types of work require skill, smartwork, and some form of education. No matter if you are working behind a desk, or at a factory; a job is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Once as a small child, I flew first class with my mom. I was too young to remember where we were flying, or even how old I was. What I do remember is being in invited by the pilot into the cockpit, and seeing the sky with the top of clouds below. From then on, I wanted flight to be a significant part of my future. At first I thought I would be a pilot, but though my high school engineering class, I became deeply interested with the design of engineering. That interest in the design process combined with my deep fascination with aerodynamics, leading to my major: aerospace engineering (aeronautics). After every year of football they hang a picture of each player who made All State. This reminds the rest of them what glory looks like. Friday Night Lights gives a perspective of how every small town high schools are and is very popular for it, however it should be banned in our public schools because it contains profanity, racism terms, and sexually situations; the results of reading this book can cause more teenagers or even children to use offensive language, cause more racism than there already is, and be sexual at a young age. Despite that students now use profanity in their public schools and even more out of school, this could cause more children and teens to use the offensive language around their peers. As Jerrod McDougal states in the book, I ve got no idea what I want to do. I ve got no idea what school I want to go to. My SAT won t be worth shit. And no football schools want me, (Bissinger 308). When McDougal says this, it represented the confusion of about 90 other football players. After every year Permian football is over; two teenage boys have the opportunity to have a shot for college football. However, the others just have the memories to look back on. Accordingly to TIME it states, The researchers found that on an average teen novels contain 38 instances of profanity, which translates to nearly seven curse words per hour of reading, (Sifferlin). ... • 8. Comparison Between Metal and Grunge Music Essay The musical genres for metal and grunge are often mistaken for the same genre. Many people make this mistake because the two are often loud, and the person listening to it does not give the music a chance to show its differences. Nevertheless, the two genres of music have some similarities, but also several important differences. One similarity that the two genres share is their guitar tones. Both of these genres use extreme amounts of distortion in their guitar playing. Both also have the high settings on their amps set to a higher level than their mids, to give the guitar tone a crisp crunchy sound. Grunge and metal are also known for their driving bass tone, which comes from the over driven bass guitar. Though these two genres are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Metal music is also known for its complicated and intricate guitar riffs. Grunge however, is generally sloppy and repetitive guitar riffs. Also, most every metal guitar player takes pride in his writing and style of playing; grunge guitarists take pride in not trying at all. Both the metal and grunge styles have aggressive screaming and yelling vocals. Both genres, along with the aggressive vocals, mix melodic singing into their songs. Both styles of music evolved their vocal techniques from the violent vocals of the early punk rock bands such as The Sex Pistols and The Clash. The aggressive screaming vocals came from The Sex Pistols, whereas the melodic singing vocals came from bands such as The Clash. Even though the two genres use the same style of singing, they have very different lyrical styles. Most grunge lyricists write of either real, personal experiences, or someone else s tragic experience, making grunge much more personal to the listener. Metal lyrics generally consist of fictional events and characters. Metal drumming, like metal guitar playing, requires extreme skill, and talent. It is often fast and aggressive. The drummer uses either a double bass pedal, or two bass drums for an even faster and more dramatic sound. The drums in metal are used to give a driving feeling. Grunge drumming is usually simple and steady. This drumming style, unlike ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Aryan culture was based on parts of modern day Pakistan and the upper west parts of India. The Aryans were not originally from India. They were a very war like people and invaded through the Khyber Pass in the upper west region of India. They invaded between the years of 2000 1000 BCE and invaded in multiple successful waves. The success of the Aryan invasion was mostly attributed to their use of more advanced technologies. The advanced technologies included horse drawn chariots that had small and light spiked wheels attached to them as well as superior bronze weaponry. The people that were settles in the area being invaded had, at most, stonge age type weaponry, such as spears and possibly bows, and maybe an ox cart for travelling. Through many years of invasions and many different leaders, they settled throughout the Indus Valley region and later spread into other parts around the year 1500 BCE, replacing the Dravidian people who currently were settled in the area. The Aryan culture was made up of mostly semi nomadic people as well as herdsman who raised chickens and cows and many were farmers who grew crops in the rich soil near the Indus Valley river. The word Aryan comes from the Sanskrit word ДЃrya, which means Noble One or Noble . The Aryan people are the common ancestor culture to the Persians, Celts, pre Homeric Greeks, and the Teutons. • 10. Essay about The Zebra Mussel Populations of the zebra mussel, Dreissena polymorpha (Pallas), were first found in the Laurentian Great Lakes in 1988 (Hebert et al., 1989). This species is native to the Caspian, Aral, and Black Seas and the rivers that drain into them but has spread throughout Europe, principally during the 18th century. Since it is restricted to estuarine and freshwater habitats, it is presumed that it was introduced into North America by ballast waters of transoceanic vessels. Based on the substantial amount of genetic variation found in these initial populations, as estimated from electrophoretic variation of allozymes, the colonization of the Great Lakeswas by a large number of immigrants and not just a few founders... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This blockage can result in heat damage to power plants and necessitates costly removal or replacement of intake pipes (Minchin and Moriarty, 1998). Colonization by zebra mussels has devastating ecological impacts on native bivalves (Mackie, 1991; Haag et al., 1993), frequently driving them to local extinction. Zebra mussels readily, perhaps preferentially, settle on native bivalves and eventually cover them over. They filter the water so efficiently that they can lower the amount of suspended food organisms below levels needed to sustain native unionids. Their success in spreading rapidly and colonizing new areas is due to two features of zebra mussel biology. Firstly, zebra mussels produce large numbers ( gt; 30,000 per female) of planktotrophic veliger larvae which can survive for 10 15 days (Hebert et al., 1989). Such larvae are well suited for efficient dispersal by water currents, especially in riverine systems. Additionally, they don t require the presence of suitable host species of fish, as do native unionid larvae. Secondly, the spread of zebra mussels is aided by their ability to attach to objects by byssal threads (the same ability that leads to their fouling problems). Because of this ability, adult zebra mussels can attach to and be spread by ships, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The bowl signified artistic achievement, exemplified by the development of painted decoration in Iraq in the 11th century. In this paper, I will be stating some observations I made from studying the Lobed Bowl, these observations will include: the material, surface texture, use of color, size and the composition use of line. I believe that the use and the beauty of the lobed bowl go hand in hand. They are two inseparable aspects of perfection, being a material used by the royal family. Inside the bowl, we can see people seating on horses. I believe these people represent the palace guards, or guards who were victorious in a war and are celebrating on their horses. At the center of the bowl, we see a figure seated and two people attending to the figure. I believe that the figure seated was the king during that time, and the people beside him were his attendants. When we look inside bowl, next to the seated figure are camels. Choosing a Major Essay Choosing a Major Some people already know by the age of seven that they want to become a pilot or nurse; others, however, have more difficulties deciding what to do with their future. People who decided to go to a university or college have to make an important choice: what major are they going into? For many people this is a very difficult question. As the statistics show, one out of five students change their major between admission and the first day of classes. Nearly three out of four students change majors at least twice before they graduate. And three out of four college students express uncertainly about their major. These striking results raised some questions for me. Is it really necessary to choose a major? What influence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You can t learn much biology without learning the connections to chemistry or physics. You can t analyze much sociological data without realizing that you need to know statistics, political structures, historical patterns, and cultural qualities. In every field of inquiry both the methods and the content are linked to other fields. Northrop explains. So, one of the things you learn in a major is the interdependence of knowledge. P. Rose, director of CareerPlanning and Placement at the University of Pennsylvania, agrees. She sees a major as the window you are picking from which to view the world. Since a rigorous study in that major will lead you to related disciplines, it will also provide a framework for investigation of disciplines far removed from the major itself. Nonetheless, Rose thinks you need a foundation to build on first. After you achieved a significant depth of understanding in one discipline that is your major, then you will have patterns and solutions that you could apply in a totally different field. Thus, your major is the necessary foundation to engage in creative problem solving in other fields. Whatever reason you have for deciding on a major, the colleges require you to do so. While it is true that all of these are indeed forms of crime there is another criminal component in today s world that does not get recognized as much as the others. This is white collar crime. In white collar crime, the victim rarely sees the offender face to face. Instead technology is used to create false financial statements and steal money from corporations, individuals, or both. Simply defined, white collar crime can be described as A nonviolent crime committed for financial gain. White collar crime can occur in the form of securities fraud, embezzlement, money laundering, and other illegal activities than generate financial returns outside of legal practices. In the extremely competitive business world, white collar crime and other scandals are unfortunately very common. Just recently one of the United States largest banking companies, Wells Fargo, was found to have generated over 3 million fake banking or credit card accounts. The source of these fake accounts stems from lofty sales goals set by the Wells Fargo management team. As employees struggle to meet goals and keep their jobs, good people can turn to bad and often illegal decisions to stay afloat. • 14. Evaluation Of A Cooperative Learning Device Essay For students to receive a more effective and meaningful academic experience, a diverse pedagogical methodology for enhanced and relevant learning is required. Various strategies are available to engage adolescent students toward a more fruitful learning experience. The jigsaw method, a cooperative learning device, is a project based exercise whereby students assume specific roles for content mastery and conduct tasks with an interdependence on one another for deeper learning on multiple aspects of a subject toward better comprehension and fully reaching the intended objectives. This strategy is useful in putting students in an active role while investigating subject matter. It is also a chance for teachers to allow students to discover and find options to fit their own learning styles and presentational preferences. Not all teachers prefer this method nor find it most applicable to their discipline, however. Students often may find that evaluation based on peer project completion is not representative of their personal abilities. Applied appropriately and accordingly, the jigsaw method has the potential to create interdisciplinary relevance of the topic, widen a students breadth of subject analysis, and change their classroom outlook from dread to enthusiasm. By Jerald Joseph A traditional approach to learning puts teachers in control of the specific learning material delivered, formative assessments, teaching methods, and pace of learning. We then proceeded to make our way to the mountain and as we were driving up I decidedto chime in and make a suggestion, saying We should climbup from the base of the waterfall everybody else quickly agreed since that seemed to be a nice little leisure activity for a group of teenagers. With the weather slowly warming melting the snow on the mountains causing water flow the scenery was just gorgeous, with many rocks having a bright reflective look caused by the sun and water interacting. This scenery was just perfect for a climb up the fall. As we climbed we all took notice of just how pretty the mountain was. After we climbed up for about fifteen minutes much of the rocks that had places for our feet to go into and cradle providing full support were gone and being left with solely smooth rocks that if you wanted you could slide down with relative ease. So the rate at which we were scaling these rocks had to slow, however not terribly but our speed was crippled by being a little more cognizant and careful. Thoreau and King s philosophy of disobeying unjust laws that were created without the consent of the general public could have greatly benefitted the mother from Julie Otsuka s novel When the Emperor was Divine. Ultimately, if the mother used this technique of disobeying an immoral law, she could have fought against the devastating injustice of internmentwhich led to her as well as other Japanese Americans to have negative psychological effects as a result of racism and marginalization. King s teachings could have positively impacted the mother as he advocated for disobeying a law that dehumanizes an ethnic group, especially if the group had no say in the enactment of the law. The government s degradation of Japanese Americans had negative consequences on the mother as she attempted to hide her Japanese identity, but King s principles could have helped the mother realize the unfairness of the passing of the government s policies which would lead to her combating its racism. In King s letter, he makes evident the differences between moral and unjust laws. He explains his logic for breaking the law as he felt he had no choice in the creation of the laws which targeted African Americans and kept them inferior. Pankhurst mentions, We should have equal laws for divorce, and the law should recognize that they have two parents (34). She talks about how when parents are married, the mom is responsible for the child and the same goes for when the parents decide to have a divorce. When the parents divorced the mother would have to go out to look for work, which meant the child would not receive proper care. Emergency shutdown procedures went into effect when the earthquake was spotted, but this was not the main cause of the destruction of the nuclear reactor. The first line of defense was to immediately stop the nuclear fissionwithin the reactor by inserting neutronabsorbing rods to stop the reaction. After the engineers successfully stopped the nuclear fission reaction, immense heat and pressure was still prominent and needed to be relieved as soon as possible. Fresh water was brought in and dumped onto the rods but a tsunami inevitably followed as soon as the earthquake was felt as the source of the natural disaster was on the ocean floor. The tidal wave severely damaged the power supply system that was meant to maintain the flow was cold water. On March 12, 2011, diesel powered generators were initiated in an attempt to alleviate the failure of the generators that were powering the entire plant. Unfortunately, the diesel powered generator was insufficient enough to cool the large reactor as the heat building up within was accumulating in large amounts; more than what nuclear engineers originally presumed. The top to bottom Japanese revolution known as the Meiji Restoration occurred in 1868 and it completely changed the system of government of Japan, which had been under the strict control of the absolute rule of the Tokugawa Shoguns that kept Japan in a feudal state. The Tokugawa government also kept Japan, for the most part, isolated from the rest of the world believing that they had no need for Western ideas. In a way, the rapid expansion of Japan with its limited resources meant that in order to expand further it would need to conquer other countries for their resources as pointed out in an article by Yasukichi Asuba when he wrote, The shortage of a domestic supply of raw materials and fuel due to rising population pressure, a rise in protectionism in foreign countries, and the recession of the domestic economy after 1929 are said to have been the economic cause of Japanese ... A Doll s House And The Glass Menagerie Symbolism is frequently used in dramatic works to represent abstract ideas and qualities, potentially in the form of people, objects, places, or actions. Henrik Ibsen s A Doll s House and Tennessee Williams The Glass Menagerie each include various symbols to represent the social messages that the authors are trying to convey to the audience. In A Doll s House, the central character, Nora Helmer, can be seen as a symbolherself. Her family and her husband treat her like a doll, and this oppression and condescension is the reason for her inner unhappiness and longing for independence. The importance of the fire escape is pronounced right at the beginning of the play: The apartment faces an alley and is entered by a fire escape, a structure whose name is a touch of accidental poetic truth, for all of these huge buildings are always burning with slow and implacable fires of human desperation (Williams 1). The fire escape is used by all of the characters to ordinarily enter and exit the apartment, but it is also a means of escape. Laura Wingfield suffers from a bad leg that makes her incapable of leaving her home. Since it is too difficult for her to use the stairs of the fire escape to leave, she prefers the safety of the apartment. The one time Laura returns from the store and uses the fire escape she trips on the stairs, clearly demonstrating how vulnerable she is in the outside world, and how greatly she is bound to her private world within the apartment. Conversely, Tom Wingfield, Laura s brother, wants nothing more than to follow in his father s footsteps and leave his family behind. He frequently uses the fire escape to go out and smoke, which shows just how much he dislikes life inside of the apartment, and foreshadows his eventual getaway. Williams hints at escape throughout the entire play, highlighting it as one of the key themes. Mr. Walton believed that a company could not be run by just one person, it had to take team work. With Mr. Walton relying on his associates at the lowest level possible, he created the retail empire known today as Walmart. Mr. Sam, as he was referred to, would visit each and every store to learn about its culture. He would sit down with each and every associate and get ideas, comments, concerns, and anything that the associates wanted to talk to him about. This practice allowed for Walmart to create a culture of its own. A culture where each person makes a difference, no matter what your background or life style. The cultural synergy remains the same today. This philosophy is the basis for Walmart s slogan, Every person makes a difference. Sam Walton knew that in order to be successful he needed to hear from everyone, to make everyone a spokesperson for the company. Many of the ideas that have been put into play have come from the lower level associates who never thought they could make a difference. Each associate comes from a different walk of life and background. This leads to the diverse workforce that Walmart has today. • 40. Analysis Of The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald Superheroes have been scrutinized for several for methods dealing with criminals and how they react in their everyday lives. Inner personal problems of a hero have a way to change the meaning of their status and affect the effectiveness of a hero s influence and philosophical meaning. This is usually forced into comic books and movies to give a character an air of grit in their media. Sometimes this creates a beautiful masterpiece of story and introduces depth to the character, but it can also have a detrimental to the image of the character. Taking a darker tone with a superherotype character is ultimately a bad idea in the long run because it s is hard to create a mature story with most characters without deviating from what the fans believe in the character and how they are seen by others causing problems for the parent company, giving characters a darker tone can destroy a classic character s easily recognizable characteristics also, the move can sink a company whose reputation was ruined by the decision. Having a fantastical ability is always a hindrance when writing a serious or dark story because there is the need to ground the story in realism and believability. Darker superhero stories can t handle superpowers well within the story telling and writing. Most darker stories who have a character with extremely unusual superpowers tend to have either a convoluted plots or just destroys the meaning of the character to the point where people hate the new representation. ... Analysis Of The Novel Mrs. Richard Dalloway By the end of the novel, it is evident that Woolf uses the Septimus subplot in order to establish Clarissa and Septimus unified vision of an oppressive society, despite their opposing backgrounds and mental conditions. Clarissa, on one hand, chose the safe route. She married a well off politician, and lives a materially satisfying lifestyle. However, she constantly questions her life choices and is plagued by self doubt. She seems to have lost her sense of self, seeing herself simply as Mrs. Richard Dalloway (10). Her lifestyle causes her to become concerned with her image in society, and she becomes burdened by her constant worry about living up to her role as a politician s wife. Septimus, on the other hand, risks his life to fight in the war, resulting in a bad case of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. In addition, the war hardened him in some ways. Southern mountain dialect (as the folk speech of Appalachia is called by linguists) is certainly archaic, but the general historical period it represents can be narrowed down to the days of the first Queen Elizabeth, and can be further particularized by saying that what is heard today is actually a sort of Scottish flavored Elizabethan English. This is not to say that Chaucerian forms will not be heard in everyday use, and even an occasional Anglo Saxon one as well (Dial). While searching The Profit of the Great Smoky Mountains one character that stands out as being a unique American is Granny or Mis Cayce. Mis Cayce is an elderly woman whose birth was probably in the early 1800 s in the Appalachian community she still lived in. One of the reasons why the student body is full of diversity is because of the Affirmative Action. It is the policy that gives a special incentives to minorities and women to help promote diversity in school. Though it is a great idea to promote diversity in every college in United States, it is also a bad idea to continue this system. Many A students who are not minorities tend to get the same treatment as the B students who are minorities. Although accepted into school, these students who barely met the minimum criteria may have a tougher time at school because they may not be able to keep up with the pace of the classes since the schools have high expectations of its students. Furthermore, students who have worked hard to get good grades might be overlooked because the students who have lower grades will be accepted simply to fulfill the quota. Although promoting affirmative actionis a great idea to seek diversity through different views from many different ethnicities, it will also take away people s hard work, as well as producing more drop out students since they cannot keep up with what the university is expecting from them. • 50. Fusion Research Paper Fusion is the process of combining the nuclei of smaller atoms(less protons neutrons and hence, a smaller atomic number) to create a larger atom. In many stars, the process starts with hydrogen (H) atoms combining to form helium atoms (He) then combining again to form Beryllium (Be) atoms and so on... The process stops when all the atoms are converted to Iron (Fe) and the star is thus dead. The reason for this is that once the atoms reach Iron and higher, the energy required to fuse the atoms becomes greater than the energy released by the atoms. Fusion occurs naturally in environments where a sufficiently large amount of matter is collapsed under gravitational pressure that atoms are stripped of their electrons and nuclei have a sufficiently low mean free path (i.e. their density is fairly high). The aggregate of matter forming such an object is then usually referred to as a star. Fission ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From dead champagne to the massacre at Dresden, every death in the book is seemingly equalized with the phrase so it goes . The continuation of this phrase ties in with the general theme on indifference in the story. If the Tralfamadorian view of time is correct, then everyone is continuously living every moment of their life and dying is not the end. However, if Vonnegut believed in this idea, then he wouldn t have felt compelled to write about the firebombing of Dresden. It is clear that both Billy Pilgrim and Kurt Vonnegutare affected by the massacre they saw, but they have different ways of rationalizing it. Billy finds comfort in the Tralfamadorian view of life, whereas Vonnegut disagrees, and urges the reader to disagree too. The constant repetition of so it goes breaks the reader away from the Tralfamadorian point of view, and allows them to come to their own conclusion that although it would be nice to forget the bad parts of life, it is important to remember all of the past. Vonnegut helps the reader come to this conclusion by repeating the phrase after gruesome moments, and showing how meaningless life can be if the Tralfamadorian ideas are believed, as seen through Billy Pilgrim s bland life.. Each chapter deals with a different unexplained mystery into our past, sometimes taking ideas or explanations from a previous chapter and incorporating those into a more elaborate scheme of things later on. So, if you jump into the middle of a theory it s definitely going to make you want to go back a little and find out more detail about something he mentioned earlier. You really don t have to go back to find out what s going on; the author just has a very bad habit of making you think. The presentation and layout of his ideas are perfect; they always follow a small story or some ancient folk lore that already get your mind flowing into the extremes possibilities of ancient history. I was very eager to read this book, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 56. The Plague Of The Bubonic Plague The Bubonic Plague killed over twenty five million people during the Elizabethan Era (David Perlin, PhD and Ann Cohen). The origins of the Black Death can be traced back to the Gobi Desert of Mongolia in the 1320 s (Ed. Geoffrey J. et al). The Bubonic Plague has picked up many nicknames. For example, it has been called The Black Death, and one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse (Ed. Geoffrey J. et al). The Bubonic Plaguewas very prominent during its time with many people s lives being affected by the treatments, preventions, and twisted theories that occurred. The reason why the Bubonic Plague was called the Black Death is because of the black patches on the victim s skin, hence The Black Plague. The symptoms of the Black Death started as just being uncomfortable. First, it began with a headache, fever, severe pain in the joints, and chills. Next, it became more severe and the victim will suffer from painful swelling in the neck, arms, and inner thighs until they begin to ooze blood and pus. Finally, the victim would end up dying (The Medieval Combat Society). Some important people affected by the Plague were Shakespeare s son (The Children of William Shakespeare), Hamnet and King Edward III of England s daughter, Joan (Plantagenet). Hamnet was one of three children, and the twin of his sister, Judith. Sadly, he died at the age of eleven with a severe case of the Bubonic Plague (The Children of William Shakespeare). Princess Joan died of the Bubonic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 57. Do Supplemental Software And Technology Help English As A... The research question the group asks is, Do supplemental software and technologies help English as a Second Language (ESL) and English Language Learner (ELL) students in both short and long term ways? Our target population for this study is college students that are ELLs. Finding participants is one part of the study, but since we are researching students on a college campus they will have to be at least 18 to 30 years old to participate in the study. UMKC has a very large and diverse campus; we will reach out to the Applied Language Institute (ALI) students through a class survey. We decided that college would be a better population to start out with because it provides many social opportunities. We are looking for a population that will provide us with direct feedback from the trial. Students in college will know how they learn and be able to explain how technology either helped them or hurt them while learning. Having students participate on campus also ensures that they have access to internet and WiFi. We are aware that there are many limitations that face college students, but there are also benefits to choosing students in college. Sample The participants in the study range from 18 to 30 years old. We did not specify what year we are looking for in college. We just wanted to have adults participate. If there are students that do not fit into the age range, they should be noted as younger and provide parental consent in order to ensure that we will be able to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 58. Raw Milk, K-Bar Dairy The CDC and Texas Department of State Health Services advise people who consumed raw milk or raw milk products from a Texas dairy, K Bar Dairy, to get an antibiotic treatment to avoid chronic infections. The raw milk from the dairy tested positive for the bacteria Brucella RB51. This bacteria is rare and potentially serious. People who get brucellosis have symptoms of fever, sweats, and fatigue. If the infection is not treated, long term complications, such as arthritis, heart problems, and enlarged spleen and liver, can result. Meningitis RB51 and miscarriages in pregnant women are also complications if the infection is not treated. Milk from the dairy has caused Brucella in one Texas resident, and purchase records show additional Texas ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
