Role Of Servants In Volpone
The portrayal of servants in Shakespeare s and Jonson s plays is contrasting. In Jonson s city comedies
servants are depicted as unethical, manipulating their masters greed and egocentrism in order to fulfill
their own plans and goals. On the other hand, in Shakespeare s pastoral comedies servants are
portrayed as loyal, devoted, reliable and helpful to their masters.
To be more specific, in Jonson s city comedy Volpone the city is portrayed as a dog eat dog,
antagonistic competitive world which is profit orientated, where everything is commodified. In other
words, it is a society that is governed only by greed and profit. Therefore, almost all of his characters
are greedy for power, money, food, alcohol or sex. Jonson satirizes that ... Show more content on

Jonson s connection to Aesop s Fables is obvious, as all the character names in Volpone recall animals,
insects or birds. For example Volpone means fox in Italian, Mosca means Fly etc. In that sense,
Volpone draws from a tradition of Aesopian beast fables. Jonson wants to create an allegory of greed
and also emphasizes that social and religious principles yield to greed and avarice; human beings are
reduced to the level of beasts and lose their elevated status.
Therefore, Volpone is a magnifico, a noble man of the Venetian Republic, clever but totally selfish and
lustful whose only purpose in life is to accumulate gold. He is so materialistic that not only has he
replaced God with gold, but he also worships his gold as his God. He always tries to deceive and take
advantage of other people, usually naive characters. His servant Mosca (which is an Italian word used
to describe a kind of fly that is fed on dead meat) is a parasite. A parasite does not hunt, does not work
in order to survive. Similarly, Mosca is a human being who is lazy, who does not struggle in order to
acquire a livelihood. Mosca is also very clever and canny. He is absolutely necessary for Volpone,
because he is the one who can put his master s

Impact Of Information On The Transport Sector Of...
Introduction
Progoti industries limited play a vital role in the transport sector of Bangladesh. It has started its
journey from 1966 and it has marketed 50,000 vehicles such as Cars, Buses, Trucks, Ambulance.
The industrial facility is situated on the Dhaka Chittagong thruway which is just 30km faraway from
port city Chittagong. The processing plant has all the key apparatuses and gears for Painting, Body
Building, Inspecting and Testing of car.
Difference between Data and Information
Data is specific and it is organized for a purpose accurately and timely. Presented within a context, it
gives its meaning and relevance. The uncertainty also gets minimized.
Information is valuable because it can affect decision or an outcome. For example, if the manager is
told about the company s net profit which has been decreased in the past month, then this information
can lead for a reason to cut financial spending for the next month.
Information systems makes operations efficient, it processes data from company inputs and generates
the information that is useful for managing the operations. By adding more data, information can be
more accurate and it will increase the information system s effectiveness. It is also used to support the
organization s long term goals.
Decisions
Information system from the company can help make better decisions by distributing the required
information and modeling the results of the decisions. Decision involves choosing the particular action

Stocks and Bonds
In the financial markets, the most common forms of marketable securities are stocks and bonds.
Though they have some similarities to each other, they differ greatly in many aspects. Broadly
speaking, both financial instruments enable one to invest in corporations, public and/or private, with
possible profitable returns in the future.
Stocks (or shares), by definition, are shares of ownership in a company. By purchasing stocks in a
company, the investor becomes a part owner, and thereby owns a percentage share of the company s
after tax profits. Stocks/shares have two key characteristics: 1) they can be issued in small
denominations: an investor can purchase as many or as few shares in a company as he/ she wants,
thereby becoming a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stocks were rising on expectations of economic recovery later in the year, and bond prices fell as their
yields increased (bond prices and yields are inversely related). The yield on the 2 year notes and 10
year notes, which are heavily influenced by the Fed regulated interest rates and inflation expectations,
respectively, increased from .76% to 1.4% and 2.25% to 3.93 during the same period, respectively.
Concurrently, the S P 500 had gained 4.8%, rebounding 40% from March lows.
Though stocks have statistically delivered higher returns in the long term compared to bonds, bond
prices are less volatile. The dividends paid out on stocks are uncertain and depend on the distributable
profits of the company, the company s investment plans and cash needs for the same, and other such
factors. On the other hand, bonds generally make a pre specified interest payout to all bondholders
periodically, thereby ensuring an assured, known cash inflow in the hands of a bond holder. Further,
on maturity of the bond, a pre determined principal amount is paid out by the issuer to the bondholder,
to purchase back the bond. Hence, a bondholder who holds the bond to maturity, knows exactly how
much he /she will receive both by way of interest as well as principal on maturity. This is completely
untrue for stocks, where neither the dividend flow nor the capital appreciation is predictable with
certainty.
Bonds are therefore relatively safer

Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change yourself and the world.
There is a reason why every civilization throughout time has valued education, because it truly can
alter our collective condition and make our lives easier, simpler, and most crucially, happier! From
Egyptians learning to write on papyrus tablets to late nineteenth century scientists striving to discover
medicines like penicillin, there has always been an urge in humanity to be better and to be more than
what we have been before. Man s highest achievements the building of bridges and overwhelming

The strength and force of education is visible to anyone who cares to look at the recent Egyptian
revolution, where young students, with minds opened to the wonders of democracy, through
education, helped overthrow the yoke of suffering that their parents had silently borne. Education is
the silent and effective weapon of nonviolence, which can help people and societies break the cycle of
oppression that many have historically suffered from. Many oppressed societies, where dictators have
thrived, have had a paucity of education avenues.
Education liberates the mind from its shackles and fears and encourages it to challenge and to
communicate with others. It is not without a reason that education is at the bottom of the priority list
of dictators. It was also not without reason that upon annexation of neighboring states. Many dictators
find it easy to unscrupulously deny people education or better still, manipulate education to serve their
own selfish interests. Throughout history, and even today, autocratic leaders censor literature and
books and prevent potent ideas from spreading since they realize that an idea is the most powerful
force in the world and can transform a human being completely. More importantly though, to me, an
educated person also has the capability to objectively analyze issues, recognize and learn from

Jam Fusion Cafe
Jam Fusion Cafe (Jam!) is a breakfast and lunch cafe located in the heart of downtown Bozeman.
Opening at the very end of last year, the owner Aron Parker stated in an article in the Bozeman Daily
Chronicle that Jam! offers riffs on traditional breakfast offerings which is very accurate. Foods with
names like Elvis Crepes provide a modern, festive spin on traditional breakfast items.
Specializing in gourmet brunch foods, the cafe has an inclusive menu. From the perspective of a celiac
the gluten free coconut banana pancakes made with chia seeds will change your life. As a side with
my coconut banana pancake, I chose hash browns and homemade ketchup, much better than Heinz
ketchup. The single pancake was topped with fresh bananas and shredded coconut flakes with a side
of thin sliced hashbrowns perfectly crisped. One single pancake cost four dollars with a side of
hashbrowns for $3, overall very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food provided. Prices range
from roughly four dollars to fifteen dollars depending on the type of ... Show more content on

Tornado Forecasts
Currently, the development of spotter networks and conversion radar are use for identification of
tornadoes (Coleman et al. 2011). In developed countries, the use of weather radars have become the
primary method for the identification of tornadoes. The Doppler weather radar is used in the United
States, this system takes measurements of velocity and the radial direction of the storm (Coleman et
al. 2011). New technology development has lead to forecasts of tornadoes before they have made
contact with the ground.
Currently the average tornado warning lead time is 13 minutes (Brotzge Erickson, 2009). Tornado
forecasts are still unreliable, most warnings are not broadcasted when the tornado is forming or has
formed (Brotzge Erickson, 2009). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 2008, 3 out of every 4 tornado warnings that were issued were false alarms (Brotzge et al. 2011).
False alarm ratios are highest during non peak storm periods and lowest during storm times and days.
In a 24 hour period they are highest overnight and morning hours and lowest in the late afternoon
(Brotzge et al. 2011). Seasonally they are highest December February and late summer, August and
lowest all the other months (Brotzge et al. 2011). Tornado information has increased since the amount
of research has been recorded and analyzed. However, there is more improvements that are needed to
fully predict tornadoes that could have the potential to destroy large areas.
Conclusion:
Although meteorologist hardly acknowledge that their forecasts are not completely accurate, it is clear
that without them the amount of harm would be great. The information of a possible tornado
formation helps the public become prepared to the possibility of a tornado. Tornadoes warning
systems have come a long way from the days where they were inaccurate and unreliable. Lead times
have increased and are becoming more reliable. However, more sensitive technology is needed until
forecasts can become more

Abstract this paper is an involvement in the field of security study on mobile ad hoc networks.
Boundaries of the mobile ad hoc nodes have been considered in order to design a secure Geographic
routing protocol that thwarts selfish and flooding attacks. We took the base of Ad hoc On Demand
Routing Protocol (AODV); the most popular Routing protocol. The significance of the proposed
protocol that should make sure security as wanted by providing a broad architecture of Secured PPEM
Mechanism based Multi Hop Strong Path Geographic Routing protocol (SMHSP) based on effective
key management, secure neighbor detection, secure routing data s, finding malicious nodes, and
eliminating these nodes from routing table. Our results clearly show that our secured Geographic
routing protocol increases the throughput and packet delivery ratio while it has a tolerable increase in
the routing overhead and average delay. Also, security study proves in details that the proposed

Hot Flat And Crowded Summary
Hot, Flat, and Crowded written by Thomas L. Friedman examines our need to become a sustainable
country in not just the environment, but also in our financial markets. Friedman argues that the world
is getting hot as a result of global warming (8). Our planet s average temperature is rising. The
increase can be attributed to humans and their use of large scale manufacturing that began with the
Industrial Revolution when manual labor was starting to be replaced by machinery (68). Friedman s
next argues that world is getting flat due to the increase in high consuming middle classes brought on
by technological, market and geopolitical events (8; 66). The combination of several factors including
the invention of personal computers and the Internet, changes in transmission protocols, collapse of
Communism, the Berlin Wall, and the Soviet Union led to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When flat and crowded intersect you get the energy supply and demand problem. David Douglas, a
chief sustainability officer for a corporation used this analogy: if you give 1 billion people a 60 watt
incandescent light bulb and they all use their light bulbs four hours a day, that s 10,000 watts at any
given moment. You would still need about twenty new 500 megawatt coal burning plants just so the
next 1 billion people can turn on their lights (68). We also have to keep in mind that burning coal
releases CO2 and other pollutants into the air which then effects global warming. We have now
brought in the concept of hot. Friedman also gives the example of the cities Doha and Dalian who
have rapidly grown sprouting a mini Manhattan leading to much higher energy consumptions. He
called this high consumption an America lifestyle saying that affluenza, the unsustainable addition to
economic growth was spreading all over the world

Clubfoot Essay
CLUBFOOT
Clubfoot is defined as a congenital foot deformity characterized by a kidney shaped foot that turns
inward and points down. The forefoot is curved inward, the heel is bent inward, and the ankle is fixed
in planter flexion with the toes pointing down. Shortened tendons on the inside of the lower leg,
together with abnormally shaped bones that restrict movement outwards cause the foot to turn
inwards. A tightened achilles tendon causes the foot to point downwards. The medical term for
clubfoot is talipes equinovarus . It is the most common congenital disorder of the lower extremity.
There are several variations, but talipes equinovarus being the most common. Clubfeet occurs in

The majority of clubfeet results from abnormal development of the muscles, tendons, and bones while
the baby is forming in the uterus. Genetic and environmental factors in the development of the fetus
seem to also be some of the causes. The disturbance of the normal growing foot probably occurs at
about the eighth week of pregnancy. The cause of the foot growing deformed is unknown, but believed
to have something to do with heredity. Many cases of clubfoot do not have easily identifiable causes.
The goal of treatment is to achieve and maintain as normal as a foot as possible. The extent of the
required treatment varies, depending upon the rigidity of the foot. Treatment may take several months,
but most children learn to crawl, stand, and walk at the normal age. There are a couple different ways
to go about treating clubfoot, the two most perfered being manipulation and casting, and surgery.
Clubfoot is most common in children who suffer from spina bifida who have an L4 or L5 motor level.
Many orthopedic surgeons instead of serial casting suggest early taping and gentle manipulation
followed by an application of a well padded splint. The reason for this is because serial casting can
cause skin irritations and breakdown. Another technique manipulation and casting is a treatment that
begins shortly after birth. It involves slowly stretching out the tightened muscles and holding the foot
in an improved

The Characteristics Of Language InThe Shining, And William...
Introduction:
Authors in the horror genre often use various writing techniques in order to create the horror
characteristics they wish to include throughout their novels, and therefore I will analyse the techniques
used by Stephen King and William Blatty in two of their most famous novels. The purpose of this
comparative analysis is to discover what language and stylistic features Stephen King in The Shining
and William Blatty in The Exorcist use to create characteristics of the horror genre. I will discover
how both authors use important writing techniques such as foreshadowing, mystery, surprise, fear and
suspense, in order to create a horror theme throughout their novels, and I will compare the similarities
and differences in their writing techniques. In the end I am hoping to come to a conclusion where I
thoroughly understand how both Stephen King and William Blatty both used language and stylistic
features to create the theme of horror in both, The Shining and The Exorcist .
Foreshadowing:
Foreshadowing is used to create an image in the readers head before the event actually occurs so that
the reader can predict what is going to happen. In The Shining by Stephen King, there is constant
foreshadowing. Since the beginning of the book, hints are given to the reader as to what will happen
later on in the novel. A lot of this foreshadowing is shown to the reader in the form of Danny s ability,
the shining . Through his gift, he can often see hints of what will happen in the future. For example, he
has constantly encountered the word REDRUM . At first, he has no clue what it means, but then, once
he is already in the hotel, he figures it out. And then, eyes widening in horror, he saw the word
REDRUM reflecting dimly from the glass dome, now reflected twice. And he saw that it spelled
MURDER. Danny Torrance screamed in wretched terror (343). It s at this moment that the reader also
realises the significance of the word REDRUM , as it becomes clear that the word is actually murder.
It s at this moment that all the foreshadowing leads to a definite meaning. Foreshadowing is very
prominent throughout The Shining . In The Exorcist however there are many moments that
foreshadow upcoming

Persuasive Essay On Cybercrime
Imagine, one day you wake up and you re running late. On your way into work you stop at your
favorite coffee shop. You order your coffee and your muffin, and you go to swipe your card only to
find out it declines. What do you do? You call your bank and they tell you several accounts have been
hacked and yours was one of them. Now you have no money, no access to your savings. Everything
you ve ever worked for is gone and it only took one click. This is a very real possibility, and it doesn t
stop at bank accounts. Cybercrime is at an all time high, and no one is safe. Cyber threats have vastly
grown over the past decade, we need to better prepare ourselves and become more aware in the event
of future attacks. Cybercrime is not limited to bank fraud or identity theft, it is any crime that is
committed by use of an electronic device, such as a computer or cellphone. For example, in August
2001 Rafael Nunez also known as RaFa successfully hacked into a NASA employee s computer and
obtained classified shuttle designs for future space crafts. While this attack did not cause any real
harm, he did leak the designs to a local reporter to prove his theory that NASA isn t as secure as
everyone may have thought. Another form of cybercrime would be internet stalking, one out of twelve
women experience some type of cyber stalking in their lifetime, and most predators are men. This
could lead to cyberbullying, which is something you see occur every day. October 17th, 2006,

Negative Self-Image In Barbie Doll, By Marge Piercy
Negative self image among women has been a struggle in society for a long period of time. Social
media, magazines, and the pressures of society has caused many young girls to feel bad about
themselves because they do not look like the clothing model on the runway or the bathing suit model
on the front of a magazine. Females grow up with the pressures of having to be in shape, wearing the
best clothes, and putting on a full face of makeup for a male to find them attractive. Society has
deemed that only fit women are beautiful, and that idea has caused women to harm themselves,
develop anorexia, and feel insecure of themselves daily. Two works of literature that discuss the

Cause And Effects Of Volcanic Eruptions
It was a very loud sound, louder than thunder, or like a bomb going off, it s hard to describe said Ewan
Marshall.
Volcanic Eruptions are one of the most feared, destructive and deadliest disasters killing anything that
is near it. There are many conditions that must be in place for a volcanic eruption to occur. There is no
exact time of year a volcanic eruption could happen and the duration of a volcanic eruption is
unpredictable. There are many specific areas where volcanic eruption could occur. Volcanoes are
formed when magma within the Earth s upper mantle works its way to the surface (Volcanoes). The
plates inside the Earth s crust move and the friction causes the volcanic eruption (Volcanoes). There
are many places where eruptions can happen. One of the main places is all over Hawalli. Hawaii has
many volcanoes, but these are the three most active volcanoes in Hawaii , Mauna Loa, Kilauea, and,
Loihi. There are many more places that volcanic eruptions can occur. These facts can alert the people
of these areas that an eruption can happen. Volcanoes can cause a lot of damage, but there are many
warning signs that predict when a volcanic eruption would occur. Volcanoes can kill and injure many
people, but there is no exact amount because the amount of people who die or get injured depends on
how many people are living near the volcano (Charles A. Wood). Volcanoes destroy a lot of property
and infrastructure because when the volcano erupts, rocks and ash shoot out

Similarities Between Odysseus And Harriet Tubman
Heroic Comparison: Who s The Real Hero
Odysseus is considered a hero in his own one sided story whilst Harriet Tubman is considered a hero
by all. Although Harriet Tubman did not experience the traditional type of the twelve stages of a hero s
journey, that does not make her any less of a hero than Odysseus seems to be. In fact whilst following
the guide of the twelve stages to a hero s journey, Harriet Tubman can be viewed as a better hero
parse, than Odysseus. Although in most cases to be viewed as a hero you must be a superhero, killer,
god, or something of the sorts, Harriet can be viewed as a hero despite being an ordinary African
American woman in the racist 1800 s. However this does not mean that her story follows the 12 stages

Although Harriet and Odysseus went through multiple ordeals , by taking the inciting ordeals and
comparing it is found that they display the ordeal very differently but still very well. Harriet s
(arguably) biggest ordeal came by 1856 when she was captured for a 40,000$ reward. This is a perfect
example for an ordeal because it shows the hero getting trapped in a situation and she needs to find a
way out. Harriet gets her way out of this sticky situation by reading a book since her wanted poster
stated that she was illiterate. Odysseus story is similar in the sense that he gets trapped, however in
Odysseus story he wasn t alone in his situation, he had his crew with him to assist in the escape from
his ordeal. This ordeal happened to be, getting stuck in a giant Cyclops lair/home. Odysseus does
make it out alive by tricking the Cyclops into drinking wine which later makes him very drowsy,
therefore the cyclops takes a nap. In his slumber the crew and Odysseus puncture the cyclops one eye

The Moral Theory Of Deontology
I believe that the moral theory of Deontology, which is also called non consequentialism, incorrectly
answers the question What is right? The reason being that Deontology answers this question base on
each individual experience and belief, which most likely will always be different from person to
person. In my stance I will first explain the moral theory of Deontology, secondly I will point out how
Deontology answers the question What is right? , and lastly analyze why the moral theory of
Deontology will fail in answering the question of What is right? The moral theory of Deontology is
defined in the book Ethic Theory and Practice by Thiroux and Krasemann, that Deontology is not
consequence based, and that one should base their decision on whether their decision is morally right
in the first place. In the theory of Deontology there is an assumption that there are no general moral
rules or universal law in place, and instead depends on each individual believing their own moral
laws, such as the divine command theory in which one believes that a higher power made the rules,
and that those rules should never be broken regardless of consequence. Basically Deontology is all
about individualism, and the moral of those individual, based on experience and belief, can be used to
justify their decision. The way the moral theory of Deontology would answer the question What is
right? would be based on one s own experience and belief, meaning it would be different from

The American Dream in Steinbeck s Of Mice and Men Essay
The American Dream in Steinbeck s Of Mice and Men
Of Mice and Men is a story set during the 1930 s America, this was a time when the great depression
had hit the world. This novel was written by John Steinbeck who had based most of his work in the
story location. The main aspect of this story evolves around the American dream, and how it is
perceived by the characters. The American dream is an expression for everything great in life; it is
based on a dream that has a future with happiness. The term American Dream shows the positive parts
of America, it meant hope; happiness and security were truly possible.
During colonial time there were two main parts of America, the east and west that ... Show more

This was the start of the Great Depression that would affect the whole world during the 1930s.
However the dream survived for individuals. Thousands made their way west to California to escape
from their farmlands in the mid West. George and Lennie dreamt of their little house and a couple of
acres . The growing popularity of cinema was the last American Dream for many.
Eventually the poor farmers could not maintain their land so they moved westwards towards
California. These people were known as migrant workers as they were constantly migrating around
the country to follow the harvest. These people lived in fear and poverty in which they had no family
or friends to trust. Of Mice and Men is a story of how two migrant workers lives are inspired by hope.
In this essay I will compare the American dream to the reality in which the migrant workers are
subjected to. In this story there are many aspects that we have to take into consideration which
includes the many themes portrayed by Steinbeck and the reality in which they suffer. The series of
events is set around four days and in this time a lot happens so every part of the story is vital. I will
work chronologically through out the story so I can see how the plot develops. I will focus my essay
on how the main characters dream is influenced by their reality.

How Did Roman Civilization Impact The World
What civilization was the greatest of all time and had the most impact on the world? The Roman
civilization of course. The people in Rome got involved in many ways during the time of 27 BC to
476 AD. While there were many ways to get involved in the Roman Empire the three most important
ways were military, sports, and architecture. The Romans had many great techniques and ways to take
down their opponents, they would train boys so they could be great warriors when they got older
(Baker Baker, 1998). The Romans played many sports to entertain and to get involved in one of those
sports being chariot racing, this sport consisted of at least two people on a horse and carriage running
around a track. This sport attracted a lot of spectators because sometimes there would be cheating
against the rules but they weren t that strict. The Romans had the greatest architecture of all time and
they are the main reason our architecture is so advanced today, they had great domes and the Romans
created the arch which is used all over the world today. The Romans had the greatest military during

The Lottery Shirley Jackson Analysis
Should tradition be a rational for committing irrational actions in life? In Shirley Jackson s story The
Lottery , Shirley Jackson really poses the question of whether or not tradition should be a rational for
committing irrational actions in life and emphasizes the point of traditions potential effect of
controlling one s actions on the basis of whatever traditions that a person values. The Lottery is a story
where the day starts out as a nice day, but at the end of the day, the result of the outcome of the village
s lottery is that the villages society stones Tessie to death in regards to the village s tradition. Jackson
did not like the lottery along with its outcome and there are many different ways that Jackson presents
that. Overall, the ways that Jackson shows her dislike of the Lottery is by the tone she uses, her
character description and by the symbols she uses.
One way Jackson shows her dislike of the lottery and its outcome is the tone she uses. The tone that
she uses is a negative tone. Irrationality is a key component outlining Jackson negative tone of
tradition that plays a major role in people s actions. An example is when the women came shortly after
[the] menfolk (Jackson 2). That shows the key component of irrationality since that statement is
referring to the status of men being superior to women by the women going to the traditional event of
the lottery, right after the men. Furthermore, that statement shows dislike towards the lottery

Social Cost Of Violent Crime Report
The estimated victim s social cost for burglary(without injury) is $1,400.00, while the estimated
offender s opportunity cost for burglary (without injury) is $1,100.00 (Miller, Cohen, Wiersema,
1996).
Social Costs of Violent Crimes Violent crimes are defined as crimes that entail the use of force or
harm to the physical body of another person. The gravity of a violent crime is typically established by
the scale of bodily harm caused. The utilization of a weapon raises the severity of the offense (Izzi,

violence, battery, rape, and homicide. Other crimes can be categorized violent even when the victim is

Criminal
Common tangible or opportunity costs incurred by the offender include lost wages, loss of tax
revenue, legal and court costs, possible fines, fees, and monetary reimbursements to the victim and/or
victim s family. Typical intangible costs for the offender involve the loss of their freedom, the guilt of
financial and emotional impact on their family, the weight of responsibility of their actions, and in
cases that call for the death penalty a loss of their very life. For example, tangible costs of an armed
robbery that results in an injury to the victim might include damages to the victim s material
belongings or property, the cost to repair the damage or cover the value of damaged or lost items, and
if the victim is injured the medical costs associated with care. If the victim is killed during the robbery
the charge escalates to homicide and the victim s family receives compensation for the material losses
and financial costs of the crime. The tangible costs to the offender would be to cover these losses and
reimburse the victim/family for their financial and physical suffering, as well as pay legal fees and

Huckleberry Finn Loyalty Quotes
Loyalty is a common theme in the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, written by Mark Twain. While
this theme is frequent throughout the novel, some occurrences of loyalty are not what one might
expect. Most cases of loyalty, however, are typical. Some instances of ordinary loyalty include slaves
being devoted to their masters, and con men being traitorous to pretty much everyone they come
across. Conflicts caused by clashing allegiances play a major role in the plot of the novel as well as
character development. The protagonist of the novel, Huck, struggles to decide between two loyalties
throughout the majority of the book: Miss Watson and Jim, Miss Watson s slave. Jim ran away after

The Emergence Of The West
Throughout premodern history, the West held relatively idle next to their Asian and Middle Eastern
counterparts. However by the middle of the nineteenth century, the West emerged as a global
powerhouse. The West stood apart from their counterparts as the world s dominant economic, military,
and geopolitical powers. Their transformation didn t happen overnight, a chronological evaluation of
premodern events supported their emergence. From their plaques in late 14th century to their
dominance in by the 19th century, this chronological approach tracked the economic, military and
geopolitical changes of the West compared to their Asian counterparts. The chronological approach
included the Renaissance, the West s integration of gunpowder and print products, investments in the
British and Dutch East India companies, and their exploration for new land. The emergence of the
West began with the Renaissance in the late 14th century. WTWA mentioned the Ming harkened back
to Han Chinese traditions and the Ottomans looked to Sunni Islam to point the way forward, so
European elites looked to their own traditions for guidance as they rebuilt after the devastation of the
plague (WTWA 402). All three of the global powers reverted back the cultures of their past. Although
the West adhered to their counterparts strategy, they produced very different results. As conservative
cultures, the Han Chinese and the Islamic Ottomans growth stagnated. Respectively, their focus on

The Importance Of Saving The Penny
In 2001, United States Representative Jim Kolbe introduced legislation to Congress to eliminate the
penny coin in most transactions. Although this legislation failed, there are still consistent calls to
eliminate the penny as the smallest denomination United States coin. Nowadays, pennies sit behind
couches, corrode in mall ponds, and wait patiently for a wandering child to choke on them. Having no
purpose other than to calm the need for precision, pennies consume time, waste money, and endanger
safety. Today, most people look to grow economically. With work days lasting anywhere from eight to
twelve hours, we dedicate our time to making money. Time not doing a job is time without money. We
recognize the importance in giving up our time so much that we came up with a standard social belief.

Pecola Breedlove By Toni Morrison Essay
Through the character of Pecola Breedlove, Toni Morrison illustrates that society has caused black
people to lose their self esteem and feel inferior to white people. All her life, Pecola is vulnerable to
the messages society carries about black people because of who she is: a black girl in her youth. The
narrator, Claudia (as an adult) described Pecola as the person that everyone compared themselves to in
order to feel better about themselves. Her simplicity decorated us, her guilt sanctified us, her pain
made us glow with health, her awkwardness made us think we had a sense of humor. (p. 205) Society

The Prisoner of Chillon, by Lord Byron essentially begins with a man who finds himself imprisoned
in Chillon s dungeon. He relived his father s persecution for his belief, in turn, leads to his capture and

for freedom, which in turn broke his spirit, heart, mind, and so he lost his strength and the will to keep

After time passes, his father s beloved youngest son dies. He faded, and so calm and meek, / So softly
worn, so sweetly weak, / So tearless, yet so tender kind, (Lines 187 189). He is the only survivor, and
yet begins to give up on life. The prisoner reflects on his last youngest brother s passing away in
peace. That even in suffering his brother held on to who he is and that being imprisoned would not

Business firms can use both competitive and collective strategies to manage their interdependencies.
The literature distinguishes three major dimensions of competitive strategies: price, promotional, and
product competition strategies (Khandwalla, 1981). Competitive strategies manage interdependence
successfully if they result in advantageous competitive positions, thus forestalling interdependence

Avengers Stereotypes
Female Superheroes in Cartoons and Comics
It is extremely difficult to think of the modern world being without entertainment of any kind. People
have developed the cult of music, literature and visual art. One of the greatest entertainment pieces are
drawn comic books, which gave rise to an entire industry.
Although most of the comic books represent both female and male superheroes, in Marvel s Avengers,
the women are shown as sexual objects and minor characters while men are depicted as intelligent and
powerful heroes.
Since the inception of the comic book industry there have been a lot of controversies surrounding
female figures, especially, their physical appearance, gender roles and stereotypes. A strong hero,

For example, in Marvel s Avengers Natasha Romanoff was abused during the interrogation with
Russian mobsters as she refused to give out the information. It is crucial to note the way she sits on a

enormous effect on society as they generally are representing hatred, discrimination, and
objectification. Since women are referred to the weak ones even though, super heroines, they are still
quite frequently victims of abduction.
All papers claim the same things about female roles in the comic books and its displaying on the
screens. Women are usually portrayed as inferior, unbelievably attractive, seductive and passive
characters. In comparison to Natasha, other females in Avengers are somewhat softer and
romanticized. Every frame with Betty is soft in the movie. Even when she was hurt and passed out she
was lying in a beautiful pose, just like a model who is also a subject of objectification in the real
world, with minimal damage to her pretty face which serves as bright contrast to the blood covered

  • 2. Role Of Servants In Volpone The portrayal of servants in Shakespeare s and Jonson s plays is contrasting. In Jonson s city comedies servants are depicted as unethical, manipulating their masters greed and egocentrism in order to fulfill their own plans and goals. On the other hand, in Shakespeare s pastoral comedies servants are portrayed as loyal, devoted, reliable and helpful to their masters. To be more specific, in Jonson s city comedy Volpone the city is portrayed as a dog eat dog, antagonistic competitive world which is profit orientated, where everything is commodified. In other words, it is a society that is governed only by greed and profit. Therefore, almost all of his characters are greedy for power, money, food, alcohol or sex. Jonson satirizes that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jonson s connection to Aesop s Fables is obvious, as all the character names in Volpone recall animals, insects or birds. For example Volpone means fox in Italian, Mosca means Fly etc. In that sense, Volpone draws from a tradition of Aesopian beast fables. Jonson wants to create an allegory of greed and also emphasizes that social and religious principles yield to greed and avarice; human beings are reduced to the level of beasts and lose their elevated status. Therefore, Volpone is a magnifico, a noble man of the Venetian Republic, clever but totally selfish and lustful whose only purpose in life is to accumulate gold. He is so materialistic that not only has he replaced God with gold, but he also worships his gold as his God. He always tries to deceive and take advantage of other people, usually naive characters. His servant Mosca (which is an Italian word used to describe a kind of fly that is fed on dead meat) is a parasite. A parasite does not hunt, does not work in order to survive. Similarly, Mosca is a human being who is lazy, who does not struggle in order to acquire a livelihood. Mosca is also very clever and canny. He is absolutely necessary for Volpone, because he is the one who can put his master s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Though they have some similarities to each other, they differ greatly in many aspects. Broadly speaking, both financial instruments enable one to invest in corporations, public and/or private, with possible profitable returns in the future. Stocks (or shares), by definition, are shares of ownership in a company. By purchasing stocks in a company, the investor becomes a part owner, and thereby owns a percentage share of the company s after tax profits. Stocks/shares have two key characteristics: 1) they can be issued in small denominations: an investor can purchase as many or as few shares in a company as he/ she wants, thereby becoming a ... Stocks were rising on expectations of economic recovery later in the year, and bond prices fell as their yields increased (bond prices and yields are inversely related). The yield on the 2 year notes and 10 year notes, which are heavily influenced by the Fed regulated interest rates and inflation expectations, respectively, increased from .76% to 1.4% and 2.25% to 3.93 during the same period, respectively. Concurrently, the S P 500 had gained 4.8%, rebounding 40% from March lows. Though stocks have statistically delivered higher returns in the long term compared to bonds, bond prices are less volatile. The dividends paid out on stocks are uncertain and depend on the distributable profits of the company, the company s investment plans and cash needs for the same, and other such factors. On the other hand, bonds generally make a pre specified interest payout to all bondholders periodically, thereby ensuring an assured, known cash inflow in the hands of a bond holder. Further, on maturity of the bond, a pre determined principal amount is paid out by the issuer to the bondholder, to purchase back the bond. Hence, a bondholder who holds the bond to maturity, knows exactly how much he /she will receive both by way of interest as well as principal on maturity. This is completely untrue for stocks, where neither the dividend flow nor the capital appreciation is predictable with certainty. Bonds are therefore relatively safer ... The strength and force of education is visible to anyone who cares to look at the recent Egyptian revolution, where young students, with minds opened to the wonders of democracy, through education, helped overthrow the yoke of suffering that their parents had silently borne. Education is the silent and effective weapon of nonviolence, which can help people and societies break the cycle of oppression that many have historically suffered from. Many oppressed societies, where dictators have thrived, have had a paucity of education avenues. Education liberates the mind from its shackles and fears and encourages it to challenge and to communicate with others. It is not without a reason that education is at the bottom of the priority list of dictators. It was also not without reason that upon annexation of neighboring states. Many dictators find it easy to unscrupulously deny people education or better still, manipulate education to serve their own selfish interests. Throughout history, and even today, autocratic leaders censor literature and books and prevent potent ideas from spreading since they realize that an idea is the most powerful force in the world and can transform a human being completely. In developed countries, the use of weather radars have become the primary method for the identification of tornadoes. The Doppler weather radar is used in the United States, this system takes measurements of velocity and the radial direction of the storm (Coleman et al. 2011). New technology development has lead to forecasts of tornadoes before they have made contact with the ground. Currently the average tornado warning lead time is 13 minutes (Brotzge Erickson, 2009). Friedman examines our need to become a sustainable country in not just the environment, but also in our financial markets. Friedman argues that the world is getting hot as a result of global warming (8). Our planet s average temperature is rising. The increase can be attributed to humans and their use of large scale manufacturing that began with the Industrial Revolution when manual labor was starting to be replaced by machinery (68). Friedman s next argues that world is getting flat due to the increase in high consuming middle classes brought on by technological, market and geopolitical events (8; 66). The combination of several factors including the invention of personal computers and the Internet, changes in transmission protocols, collapse of Communism, the Berlin Wall, and the Soviet Union led to ... You would still need about twenty new 500 megawatt coal burning plants just so the next 1 billion people can turn on their lights (68). We also have to keep in mind that burning coal releases CO2 and other pollutants into the air which then effects global warming. We have now brought in the concept of hot. The cause of the foot growing deformed is unknown, but believed to have something to do with heredity. Many cases of clubfoot do not have easily identifiable causes. The goal of treatment is to achieve and maintain as normal as a foot as possible. The extent of the required treatment varies, depending upon the rigidity of the foot. Treatment may take several months, but most children learn to crawl, stand, and walk at the normal age. There are a couple different ways to go about treating clubfoot, the two most perfered being manipulation and casting, and surgery. Clubfoot is most common in children who suffer from spina bifida who have an L4 or L5 motor level. Many orthopedic surgeons instead of serial casting suggest early taping and gentle manipulation followed by an application of a well padded splint. The reason for this is because serial casting can cause skin irritations and breakdown. Another technique manipulation and casting is a treatment that begins shortly after birth. • 14. The Characteristics Of Language InThe Shining, And William... Introduction: Authors in the horror genre often use various writing techniques in order to create the horror characteristics they wish to include throughout their novels, and therefore I will analyse the techniques used by Stephen King and William Blatty in two of their most famous novels. The purpose of this comparative analysis is to discover what language and stylistic features Stephen King in The Shining and William Blatty in The Exorcist use to create characteristics of the horror genre. I will discover how both authors use important writing techniques such as foreshadowing, mystery, surprise, fear and suspense, in order to create a horror theme throughout their novels, and I will compare the similarities and differences in their writing techniques. In the end I am hoping to come to a conclusion where I thoroughly understand how both Stephen King and William Blatty both used language and stylistic features to create the theme of horror in both, The Shining and The Exorcist . Foreshadowing: Foreshadowing is used to create an image in the readers head before the event actually occurs so that the reader can predict what is going to happen. In The Shining by Stephen King, there is constant foreshadowing. Since the beginning of the book, hints are given to the reader as to what will happen later on in the novel. A lot of this foreshadowing is shown to the reader in the form of Danny s ability, the shining . Through his gift, he can often see hints of what will happen in the future. For example, he has constantly encountered the word REDRUM . At first, he has no clue what it means, but then, once he is already in the hotel, he figures it out. And then, eyes widening in horror, he saw the word REDRUM reflecting dimly from the glass dome, now reflected twice. And he saw that it spelled MURDER. Danny Torrance screamed in wretched terror (343). It s at this moment that the reader also realises the significance of the word REDRUM , as it becomes clear that the word is actually murder. It s at this moment that all the foreshadowing leads to a definite meaning. Foreshadowing is very prominent throughout The Shining . In my stance I will first explain the moral theory of Deontology, secondly I will point out how Deontology answers the question What is right? , and lastly analyze why the moral theory of Deontology will fail in answering the question of What is right? In the theory of Deontology there is an assumption that there are no general moral rules or universal law in place, and instead depends on each individual believing their own moral laws, such as the divine command theory in which one believes that a higher power made the rules, and that those rules should never be broken regardless of consequence. Criminal Common tangible or opportunity costs incurred by the offender include lost wages, loss of tax revenue, legal and court costs, possible fines, fees, and monetary reimbursements to the victim and/or victim s family. Typical intangible costs for the offender involve the loss of their freedom, the guilt of financial and emotional impact on their family, the weight of responsibility of their actions, and in cases that call for the death penalty a loss of their very life. For example, tangible costs of an armed robbery that results in an injury to the victim might include damages to the victim s material belongings or property, the cost to repair the damage or cover the value of damaged or lost items, and if the victim is injured the medical costs associated with care. If the victim is killed during the robbery the charge escalates to homicide and the victim s family receives compensation for the material losses and financial costs of the crime. The tangible costs to the offender would be to cover these losses and reimburse the victim/family for their financial and physical suffering, as well as pay legal fees and court ... • 27. Huckleberry Finn Loyalty Quotes Loyalty is a common theme in the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, written by Mark Twain. While this theme is frequent throughout the novel, some occurrences of loyalty are not what one might expect. Most cases of loyalty, however, are typical. Some instances of ordinary loyalty include slaves being devoted to their masters, and con men being traitorous to pretty much everyone they come across. Conflicts caused by clashing allegiances play a major role in the plot of the novel as well as character development. The protagonist of the novel, Huck, struggles to decide between two loyalties throughout the majority of the book: Miss Watson and Jim, Miss Watson s slave. The King doesn t come back, so Huck and the Duke go looking for him. They eventually find him in a bar, and the King and Duke get into a fight. Huck decides to run away and goes back to the raft to leave with Jim, but Jim isn t there. Huck asks someone nearby if they say anyone take Jim, and he says a stranger sold him for $40. Huck realizes that it was the King and confronts the Duke about it, Hain t he run off? No! That old fool sold him, and never divided with me and the money s gone (Twain 216). This action alone shows the King and Duke s disloyalty. Also, when they were talking, the Duke wasn t bothered with the fact that Jim was sold, but rather that the King didn t split the money with him. Throughout the novel, Jim teaches Huck about loyalty, and is then betrayed and sold. Huck goes from thinking of Jim as a slave to thinking of him as a human. However by the middle of the nineteenth century, the West emerged as a global powerhouse. The West stood apart from their counterparts as the world s dominant economic, military, and geopolitical powers. Their transformation didn t happen overnight, a chronological evaluation of premodern events supported their emergence. From their plaques in late 14th century to their dominance in by the 19th century, this chronological approach tracked the economic, military and geopolitical changes of the West compared to their Asian counterparts. The chronological approach included the Renaissance, the West s integration of gunpowder and print products, investments in the British and Dutch East India companies, and their exploration for new land. The emergence of the West began with the Renaissance in the late 14th century. WTWA mentioned the Ming harkened back to Han Chinese traditions and the Ottomans looked to Sunni Islam to point the way forward, so European elites looked to their own traditions for guidance as they rebuilt after the devastation of the plague (WTWA 402). All three of the global powers reverted back the cultures of their past. Although the West adhered to their counterparts strategy, they produced very different results. • 29. The Importance Of Saving The Penny In 2001, United States Representative Jim Kolbe introduced legislation to Congress to eliminate the penny coin in most transactions. Although this legislation failed, there are still consistent calls to eliminate the penny as the smallest denomination United States coin. Nowadays, pennies sit behind couches, corrode in mall ponds, and wait patiently for a wandering child to choke on them. Having no purpose other than to calm the need for precision, pennies consume time, waste money, and endanger safety. Today, most people look to grow economically. The narrator, Claudia (as an adult) described Pecola as the person that everyone compared themselves to in order to feel better about themselves. Her simplicity decorated us, her guilt sanctified us, her pain made us glow with health, her awkwardness made us think we had a sense of humor. The literature distinguishes three major dimensions of competitive strategies: price, promotional, and product competition strategies (Khandwalla, 1981). Competitive strategies manage interdependence successfully if they result in advantageous competitive positions, thus forestalling interdependence and reducing decisionmaking uncertainty (Pennings, 1981).
