The Sayings Of Poor Richard By Benjamin Franklin
One lesson I learned from The sayings of Poor Richard by Ben Franklin was that actions speak
louder than words. Franklin said He that composes himself is wiser than he that composes
books. (Franklin) This analogy is saying I shouldn t criticize how others act, if I don t act the
way I should. In the story, Poor Richard was trying to find the ways to achieve moral perfection.
He believed that being able to compose yourself is way more important than telling others what to
do. Composing yourself means to watch your own actions, and strive to be morally excellent.
Somebody s actions shows the kind of person they are, not what they say. Being all talk can make
an individual appear a fool. It s a lot easier to say something then do something.

how the disease affect the population. The nurses that work with these communities to help identify
the onset of communicable diseases determine new victims, the patterns it spread, the causes or

Chickenpox disease can cause serious complications on infants, adults, adolescents, pregnant
women and those with weakened immune system like HIV/Aids or cancer patients, people with
organ transplants, on chemotherapy, immunosuppressive medications or long term use of steroids.
Complications includes pneumonia, dehydration, sepsis, bleeding problems, children having
bacterial infection like group A streptococcal on the skin and soft tissues, and death to unvaccinated
person. If a pregnant woman is infected with Chickenpox at her first trimester, the diseases can
cause rare congenital symptoms on the fetal which presents as congenital varicella syndrome, low
birth weight, atrophy, neurological abnormalities, or scarring of the skin and eyes (Maurer Smith
2013).
Chickenpox can best be prevented by given the dose of varicella vaccine to children, adolescents,
adults and the herpes zoster vaccine for people age 60 and above (Maurer Smith 2013). Generally,
people who get the vaccine will not get chickenpox, however, if the vaccinated person get
chickenpox, the symptoms is usually mild fever or no fever, fewer red spots or blisters.
The treatment of acute infection of chickenpox includes isolating the infected

Inequalities In European Culture
Inequality has been an issue from the dawn of time. All throughout history we can see prime
examples of this. World war two and the german invasion, The Spanish and the Incas, and the
most well known example, today. But few people have ever asked why it s always been this way.
Europe had geography on it s side, giving them agricultural advantages, helping them to
domesticate animals (and in turn, building resistance to disease) leading to a surplus of food for
specialists to invent and experiment. Finally, that led to the decimation of other cultures, and the
appropriation of their resources. Geography affects climate which in turn controls what crops can
grow in an area and if or how they feed, power, and ultimately drive a community. Papua... Show

Steel was the turning point for Europe, setting their destiny in stone, and securing their chance at
world domination. Europe had this beautiful collection of resources. Their most notable was their
surplus of food and domesticated animals that gave them time. Time that was used by specialists.
Focusing on the Spanish who, thanks to their latitude, could create roaring hot fires and with a
supply of iron, their specialists could create steel. But looking at the Incas, they had the time and
climate, however, they were lacking in iron. Thus, steel was not created in the Incan empire. So
with steel, the Spanish soared ahead, creating tools, weapons, vessels for travel overseas, and the
plow, which allowed for even more time and in turn, more specialists. Because the Inca didn t
have steel, they had to rely on stone tools and their single domesticated animal, the llama. Without
steel, we wouldn t be anywhere near where we are today. Steel allowed for civilizations to sail,
farm, cut down armies, and grow in great

between employees, suppliers and customers. As well as the obvious duties of installation and
maintenance of a secure computer network they are primarily there to aid computer users within
the company, providing support and training for new software and troubleshooting issues. Also
attached to the network will be printers, telephone systems, fax machines and possibly a building
security system. They may also design and maintain the company website. They may also be tasked
with creating programs or systems specific to the business such as stock control ordering inputting.
Quality The quality Department incorporates Quality Control and Quality Assurance and plays an
important role in an engineering/manufacturing company as the company succeeds by producing
goods of the highest quality for the minimum possible price. The quality department is responsible

Being a Buddhist

Buddhism
Being a Buddhist The secret of Buddhism is to remove all ideas, all concepts, in order for the truth
to have a chance to penetrate, to reveal itself.
― ThГch Nhất HбєЎnh (1926 )
Born and raised in China, it seems very common for me to become a Buddhist. Growing up seeing
all the majestic Buddhism temples, august figure of Buddha and merciful Bodhisattvas, it seems
that Buddhism is an integral part of me. In my mind, Buddhism is like a pure lotus growing out of
the feculent muddy water; without being contaminated at all, it keeps delivering its pleasant,
inspiring, compassionate fragrance to the whole world, making the world better and clearer, just
like a Bodhisattva. Although people may not become the monks ... Show more content on

However, some people argue over the idea of having no passion left in life , believing that in this
way, we are treating our lives negatively. But they are misunderstanding it. Having no passion
does not mean giving up the life; in fact, it means that we are not eager to get the good results,
and we are not result oriented anymore. But still, we keep a decent attitude towards life. In this
way, we no longer feel sorry or angry when we do not succeed, because we never long for it and
we are ready to embrace any consequent; we neither feel happy or the unhappy sense of loss when
we achieve something, because we never think of gaining. This is the most important lesson I
learned from Buddhism, which has been bringing me power and tranquility that I have never felt
before.
Third, everything is emptiness (Khyentse 55). When we analyze ourselves and the world, we may
find out that everything is interdependent thus totally impermanent, and we do not have any control
of anything, even ourselves; the form , time , and space can easily be dismantled, thus they equal to
emptiness (Khyentse 57). Looking around, everything we see now will be different in the next
instant; even though the appearance does not change, the inside nature changes, which no one has
any control of. Of course we can see and touch things that physically exist, but they do not exist
inherently, and that is what we call emptiness .

Church Meeting Summary
The meeting was about the City of Commission of Deland on March six, at seven pm. First,
starts discussing how people can address an agenda or an unattended issue that can be given to
City Clerk at the proper time. Also, the meeting gives information on how later in the meeting
they are going to explain a new resolution of the surplus of the house abandonment. Something
very nice that they did at first is how they made a program called Super Stars Students of the
month to reward kids for doing greats in school as a way trying to push them to become
something important in the future, and not giving up their dreams. Not only had they rewarded
the kids but also two employees who were great in services for a long time. As part of the
introduction, they give the quarterly financial report prepared by Dan Stauffer, which basically
shows that the City is doing well so far into each financial position.

My conclusion with this meeting is that the city does take care of the opinion of the public as they
try to explain the issue in a very clear matter; we could see that the city is trying to become better
each day and trying to resolve the problems presented but again is something that the people has
to have patience into knowing that these agendas take a long period into being analyzed,
approved and executed. This meeting brought me back to what in class we been discussing on
how a policy is being made and how it first needs to have a solid argument so it could be
approved. So far I never expected for this meet to go very coordinated and smoothly as sometimes
is normal for the argument from the public but in this case that was not the

really sure what to think, was it just a coincidence? or is there more than meets the eye...I hope to
find the answer)
The night I slept outside in September was definitely the worst and horrific and I could never forget
this one either.
This experience was slightly different because it was in London.
Yet again we had run out of money to pay for another night stay at a hotel. We had run out of money
the night before when we only had ВЈ60 left enough to pay for one night sharing a single room.
The hotels are usually not allowed to do this but the lady at the reception desk allowed us to stay
because we explained to her that we had no money left.
We did not have any dinner that night and had no clue of what to do the next day.
The next morning we had to check out. And still we had no money, we had no idea what to do.
The suitcases were still with us and they were so difficult to travel around London with. So I
decided to put all our luggage inside the hotel s storage room and leave it there until we knew what
to do.
The hotels that we had been staying at in London were within close proximity of Hyde Park, so we
would spend hours everyday just sitting there.
Hour after hour we sat in the park that day as

John R Searle Can Computers Think Summary
In Can Computers Think?, John R. Searle argues that strong artificial intelligence is false and
therefore machines cannot think or exhibit understanding like a human mind. Strong AI claims that
a correctly written program running on a machine functions as a mind and there are essentially no
differences between the software exactly emulating the actions of the brain and the mental contents
of a human. Searle uses a thought experiment called the Chinese RoomArgument to argue against
strong AI. Various objections, such as the Robot Reply, challenge Searle s argument by further
testing the potential of a machine to possess understanding, intentionality, and subjectivity. In this
essay, I will argue that Searle s argument against strong AI... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I will explain two objections to Searle but conclude that the Robot Reply is a stronger objection.
First, the System s Reply claims that the person in the Chinese Room does not implement the
computer software. Rather, the person is only part of the machinery and the system as a whole
implements the software. The System s Reply claims the larger system understands Chinese even if
the person running the program does not. I assert that the person running the program can
internalize the larger system and still cannot understand Chinese, that is, gain semantics from
syntax. In comparison to the Systems Reply, the Robot Reply adds the capacity for casual
interaction with the world. The Robot Reply concedes that Searle is correct that a computer trapped
in a computer room could not understand the meaning of the language whose symbols it is
manipulating. However, the Robot reply further claims that such a computer in a robot body, with
the ability to move and interact with the world through sensors, could attach meaning to symbols
and actually understand the language. While the Robot Reply is the strongest objection to the
Chinese Room Argument, I oppose this objection to Searle s argument because the robot system
continues to follow a computational set of rules that are established through its

The Importance Of Teachers On The Classroom Environment
In order to develop strong relationships with my students, colleagues, and parents, I plan to do a
variety of little things to yield big results. The relationship that teachers have with students is vital
to the classroom environment. In You ve Got to Reach Them to Teach Them, Mary Kim Schrek
writes that the human encounter between teacher and student is often a more powerful teaching
tool than the academic content, the grade, the data analysis, and the hours spent picking apart the
curriculum (Schrek, 2011, p. 5). In order to establish such relationships, I plan to follow a four step
procedure that I read about in an article by Nina Sears on the National EducationAssociation s
website. Sears article suggests that a teacher get to know their students, individualize the
curriculum, watch what they say, and keep trying to reach students (Sears, 2014). As an attempt
to get to know my students, I will create a little survey on the first day of school for each student
to fill out; questions would include asking my students what their favorite color is or what type
of books they like to read. By doing this, I will learn about my students likes and dislikes and
how to use their answer in the curriculum. Individualizing the curriculum might seem like a huge
undertaking but if a teacher is willing to work with the student, it is not a big deal. For example, I
was an auditory learner and I had a teacher who altered the project requirements so I could write a
song to

Julius Caesar Survival Strategy Essay
The simulation that involved survival and, at least for me, strategy began as another humdrum
class assignment for most that erupted into a battle of (simulated) control and life. Upon entry of
the class room we were asked to pair off and that our wisest couple step forward. As I ve learned
from many influences in life from gameshows such as Big Brother and Survivor, to the tale of
Julius Caesar, you do not want to be the figure head power in any situation and thus refrained
from such self promotion. Once our leaders were chosen the scenario was given and the events
to follow would give us a look into human mentality and how changes to one s position can
drastically affect their actions. As soon I knew the situation my initial thought was to over
throw the leadership as my main goal was to keep my family alive and what better way to do
that then to instill a leadership of my own. This plan came into full swing when the leaders
presented their plan that would surely doom if not me at least one of my loved ones. With a few
firmly asked questions and the suggestion of a plan to lengthen our time the mob began to grow
restless and rally behind me. And by the end of class we were prepared to... Show more content on

absolute. However, once they realized there was fight in the masses most of them began to back

behavior of the subjects of the Stanford Prison Experiment. In this simulation the subjects were
broken into inmates and prison guards and although the power was a figment of the simulation the
guards began behaving as if it were reality. Perhaps the human mind simply craves power, or
perhaps the mind is easily susceptible to changes in

The Holy Spirit Of The Ark
Remember, I told you the Rapture is a type of ark. The first time God used an ark was to save
people that believed in Him from the destruction of water. The second time will be to save the
faithful from the destruction of fire with the ark of rapture by a Bridegroom. It has never been
God s method in the past to pour wrath out on believers! Noah and his family went inside of the
ark seven days before the flood. The ark was a covering like a huppa, which is symbolic of heaven.
The church will be raptured away just like an ancient Jewish bride would have been. The Holy Spirit
fell on the church at Pentecost after Jesusreturned to His Father s house. The Holy Spirit is the
Comforter that Jesus promised would come after His Ascension. The Holy Spirit manifested
within the body of the church, and it is the current restrainer of the antichrist. A spirit needs a
body to manifest itself in, and when the Holy Spirit filled church is gone, Satan, who is a spirit,
will be able to take over inside of the antichrist. The apostle Paul tells us this in 2Thessalonians
2:7 NASB, For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so
until he is taken out of the way.

BACKGROUND
Hong Kong, is located on the southeast coast of China, the diplomatic location of Hong Kong on
the South China Sea and Pearl River Delta helps it to become one of the world growing and
worldly cities (Hong Kong Tourism Board, 2015). Before 18th century, Hong Kong was still an
agricultural and manufacturing industries. In early 80 s to late 90 s, Hong Kong lost the comparative
advantage in manufacturing as the opening up and reformation of the Mainland China, but the
comparative advantage of being a service centre has been increased (Lingnan University, 2014) In
addition, Hong Kong has experienced three structural economic changes:

Nowadays, Hong Kong becomes one of the Asia Four Tigers with the Republic of Korea,
Singapore and Taiwan (John Page, 1994). Also, Hong Kong ranked 39 in the world according to
GDP (The World Bank, 2015). In this report, I would like to introduce the Hong Kong s current
economy, reflection on the role and contributions of different sectors. Also, discuss the strategic

Lgbt History And The Modern Era
There are many topics prevalent shown throughout history. History books in today s society
highlight the majority of groups of people and historical events. This essay will prove that there is
a problematic issue where LGBT lives and existences are being erased throughout history and the
modern era. Throughout, it will be explained how these groups of people are being
underrepresented within history, major wars, and the modern era.
History covers a very broad spectrum of time, with recorded history going as far back as five
thousand years. Yet, within this period of five thousand years, history books implemented in school
systems rarely give detail to LGBT people (Carter, It s Time to Write LGBT History into the
Textbooks ). For example, within America, homosexualityhas been shown throughout Native
American tribes long before Europeans even stepped foot onto the land. While traditional
European beliefs define a person s sexual identity male or female based on biological
determination, Native American s have a vast variety of how sexuality is viewed. Native
Americans believed the Creator created three different genders; males, females and two spirits,
following the Plato model of roles. Gender roles and gender identity mirrored one another, each
containing their own magical attributes according to lore. While gender identity defined Native
American gender roles, their expectations for the two spirits differed. Native American ideology

Tom Blake Bully
Bullying is something that should always be prevented anywhere, whether it s online, at school,

just needs to put their mind to it. Tom is your typical teenage guy; he goes to school and enjoys
sports. He has a pretty worry free life, his parents have always taught him to worry about school
and nothing else that could possibly affect him in a negative way. He is very intelligent when it
comes to book smarts; he gets straight As and Bs. At school, he is very well known amongst

went back to the guy that everyone that had known him for a long time remembered, and they

Bullying is an act of violence even if there isn t actual physical hurting. Mental violence hurts a

Analyzing Saki s Short Story The Interlopers

He has many ways of creating mysteries in a story. One technique he uses is suspense. He keeps

Employee Turnover And The Banking Sector
Employee Turnover in the Banking Sector The current global business environment is proving to be
shaky especially due to the ripple effects of globalization. Both local and international businesses
are increasingly feeling the pressure to grow initial investments in order to fulfill the needs of
stakeholders. Even as these businesses continue to make adjustment to measure up to the
international standard thresholds, the area of human resources continues to readjust itself in
accordance with current market demands. Clarke et al (2010) documented that the field of human
resource has for a long time been considered the epicenter of any economy s development processes.
The highly competitive business environment coupled with highly deteriorating on social
conditions that have weighed in on the employees thus causing high turnover in the banking
institutions. Various definitions of employee turnover have cropped, however, according to
Griffeth (2004), employee turnover is considered to be the ratio of the total headcount of members
that have left an organization within a specified period divided by the standard number of
employees during the period under consideration. It has widely been interpreted as a measure of
general effectiveness of human resources in that a high turnover translates to low effectiveness and
vice versa. Employee turnover is a big problem prevalent in many institutions and is mostly
associated with actions taken by organizations to reduce expenses and

The Soul Shell Shores
The soul shell shores were rumored to be where the lost souls went. Officially, the section of
shoreline was called Kalivey Beach. It wasn t a popular destination for anyone not searching for
answers, so on the dreary day I arrived, the beach was empty save a few birds. Small and large
seashells covered the beach, piled in some places, as if to create cairns where stones were absent.
Meandering footpaths had been cleared all the way to the water, so no shells would be destroyed.
You see, the shells here were special. Each one held the soulof a person who wasn t here anymore.
If you believed the stories that is. There were people devoted to preserving the beach, that it
might be here for people who need it, but there were also those who thought the seashells couldn
t possibly be magic. Every time the tide changed and more shore was revealed, people came out

Consequently, low cost carriers (LCCs) recorded growth during the review period.
The growing popularity of LCCs has led many full service airlines to launch subsidiaries offering
flight options with limited services. For example, China Eastern Airlines announced the launch of
China United Airlines in July 2014 and in July 2013, Air Canada launched its LCC, Air Canada
Rogue.
The North American airline market recorded slow growth during the review period
(2009в€’2013) in comparison to the developing Asia Pacific and Latin American markets.
According to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the region s air traffic
increased at rate of 1.3% in 2012 and 2.1% in 2013. Growth is expected to continue at a rate of
2.7% in 2014. The IATA expects the profit of airlines in North Americato increase from US$7.0
billion in 2013 to US$9.2 billion in 2014.
Boeing s Current Market Outlook 2014 report stated that North America holds a 27% share and
Latin America held a 33% share of the total seat capacity of LCCs in 2013.
One of the key reasons for high growth rate of LCCs in the Asia Pacific region is the emergence
of a rapidly expanding middle class population and greater levels of disposable income. Another
factor is the establishment of LCC subsidiaries by full service airlines.

Lost In Interpreter Of Maladies
Lost in Misinterpretation In the novel Interpreter of Maladies, Jhumpa Lahiri writes about the
complications that accompany love and marriage. Lahiri highlights this concept in the short
stories Interpreter of Maladies and Sexy through the characters Mr. Kapasi and Miranda. They
both have unrealistic reactions to specific words that are said to them causing them to create a
false perception of the relationship they would have with their partners. However, when Miranda
comes to terms with the reality of her relationship, she walks away with a positive transformation
whereas Mr. Kapasi remains in a perpetual cycle of discontentment. Mr. Kapasi wasn t always

Police Officers And The Police Vehicles
To protect and to serve that is the saying that police officers use, and it is on the police vehicles.
They take pride to serve our community, take pride to protect our community, and take pride of
wearing the badge on their uniforms. Our community wouldn t be the same if we didn t have the
protection from them; if so there will be some disasters like some today. But yet, they get accused,
getting name, and getting threaten for the things that happen consequently.
When I was growing up, I hear all these sayings that police officers are bad , they re miserly , racist
and most common pigs . After hearing all these names and sayings, I grew to hate and fearing

For instance, my cousin joined the sheriff s department after his service in the army. He has told
me his experiences when he joined the sheriff s department; he loves the law enforcement
because he was able to help around the community and not just with criminal matters. But then,
when he told me how sad it is when they get accused because they are on the front line and he
said they get hated on because of a lot of injustices that happened decades ago. He also says that
there are still good police officers out there and not abusing the badge, but some people don t see it
because they re to focus on the issues that makes them fear the badge.
No doubt, due to the issues back then caused us to call them racist and threatening them because of
the issues we were dealing with the past. By doing all those things, it makes some of them scared
from all the threatening and calling them names because they re putting their life at risk. For
instance, if a police officer shot a Mexican person, everyone is going to get crazy because he or
she shot the Mexican person. If the officer shot the person, it wasn t meant to kill them. Meaning,
the officers will do their best not to shoot them because it is not their attention to do so. They do
go through training or they leave the police department because of these issues and that is how we
lose many police officers.

Reverse Discrimination Debate
In the middle of this debate, we have the moderate. They tend to want to compromise between
both views and try to take the golden mean of any political issue. A reflection of this
compromising trait would be to take race and sex out of the equation and considering
socioeconomic status (Potter 2013). Since the target of the Liberals is to help the disadvantaged,
lower classes blacks and hispanics, then why not make is for all races in that class to help please
the Conservative more since reverse discrimination reverse discrimination (Williams 2017). This
can be seen in places like Oklahoma with their State Question 759 where they made it illegal to

The problem with how liberals and reactionaries argue this is that they ignore the fact that it is
being discriminatory to the white and asian populus even when they can be in the lower social
classes with the black and hispanic americans. In turn making it double as hard for them to get
into college that use affirmative action because they aren t the minority race they were looking
for. Also asians were a suppressed minority in america so why make it extra hard for them just
because they tend do better academically? There is also a problem with conservative and
reactionaries argument too about just leave it all alone to merit. The suppression and
degradation of the black and hispanic communities has change their culture to not desire the
education rout as much since a lot of them didn t need college and it s too much effort to prosper
and this mentality goes beyond race and more of the lower class. There needs to be some
assistance to the lower class to help bring more education to them that isn t based on race kind of
like what moderates would theoretically believe. Moderates have it more right by agreeing with
conservatives that using race to asses people is wrong but also wanting to help the lower class out

Essay on the Rental Heart
Most people have tried it before, and those that haven t are either too young to have tried it, or
simply just heartless. It s terrible and beautiful all at the same time, which is probably why it s
such a great topic for stories. However, getting your heart broken at some point in your life is
inevitable. For some, it happens more than once. This is the case for our main character in the short
storyThe Rental Heart , by Kirsty Logan.
To begin with, the reader has no clue as to whether the main character is a boy or a girl. In my head
though, I got the image of a girl. The story is about this girl, who gets her heart broken over and
over again, by boys as well as girls (she is bisexual). It s not really a problem for her, because she ...

Maybe it s simply a whole different world! She also uses many symbols, especially to express
how love feels to the main character. The heart was dusty and tarnished and utterly empty . This
shows the reader just how heart broken she was. Her heart hasn t felt real love in a long time, so
it is dusty. It has been abused many times, so it is tarnished. And because of all this, it leaves her
with nothing more than an empty space. Maybe the island that she says she went to for a year isn
t really an island that she actually went to either. Maybe she just closed herself down mentally,
unable to deal with the world with a broken heart. That could have felt to other people, as if she
was actually away on an island.
What seems to be pulling this story towards science fiction the most however, seems to be the fact
that even though it s all clearly one big metaphor for getting your heart broken and mending it
again, it s nowhere close to how reality is. Heartbreaks come in all shapes and sizes. But in real
life you can t just go well, tough luck, she wasn t the one for me, so I m not going to be sad about
it . Healing a broken heart takes time in the real, non fictional world. Just changing it like it s
nothing, that s the real science fiction in the story.
All in all, we should be glad that we don t have these kinds of rental services available. It would be
way too boring. What makes life exciting is that it s fragile; you never know

Principles Of Integrity In Public Administration
There are three ethical principles that are the most important for officials to excel in the field of
public administration. These principles are ranked below from 1 being the most important to 3
being important. Demonstrate personal integrity (1) There has not been much discussion about
the code of ethics in the past administrations than in Trump Administration. Personal integrity is
an asset in today s time where the political chaos runs the White House and where a hullabaloo
takes place every week. The atmosphere of chaos prevails in the government and society, which
causes disruptive governance to run in every level. In this presidency, there is a sense of
aristocracy where the privileged class has taken over the voice of the people and only depends on
those members of Congress who adhere to integrity to do what is right for the least privilege.
Upbringing integrity to the best of one character brings out courage to overcome obstacles. It is not
a secret that if officials who hold high positions and stand by their own decisions always fear
repercussions, but with this administration, they fear dismissal. For example, the attorney general
Saly Yates, who was fired after she defied the president s executive order banning people from seven
Muslim majority countries entering the U.S. (Newsweek, 2017). She decided to stand by her
position and she was punished for demonstrating integrity on an issue that deserves more evaluation
for policy implementation. Demonstrating

The Financial Crisis And 2008 Is A Big International Crisis
In every country, they always have a chance to have a financial crisis, it depends on the

The Effect Of Lying Had On Nervous System By Monitoring...
Introduction:
During this study we assessed the effect lying had on the autonomic nervous system by monitoring
galvanic skin response (GSR). We used GSR, a measure of the skin conductivity, as a very basic
form of polygraph test. The electronic conductivity of skin in not held constant. Instead, it changes
based on the current state of the autonomic nervous system (ANS). The ANS is comprised of the
sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system (Gazzaniga and Heatherton, 2015). The
sympathetic branch causes increases in arousal. It controls responses such as pupil dilation,
increased heart rate, and decreased digestive activity that are normally associated with the fight or
flight response (Gazzaniga and Heatherton, 2015). The parasympathetic branch acts in opposition to
the sympathetic nervous system. It lowers arousal and returns the body to normal resting conditions.
We believe that the act of lying will cause the sympathetic nervous system to increase arousal
resulting in higher skin conductivity and therefore larger changes in GSR. As a result, we
hypothesize that lying will cause a larger mean change in GSR height then telling the truth.

3.4LITHIUM NICKEL MANGANESE OXIDE or LNM (LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4 ):
The Lithium Nickel Manganese oxide battery is still in its experimental stages. It consists of a

The doping iron increases the capacity of batteries, but this diminishes with extensive cycling. The
detrimental effect of iron can be avoided by annealing. Ruthenium is another transition metal which
can be used as a dopant which enhances the stability of the crystal structure. It also increases
conductivity and improve performance of the battery. Chromium is another transition metal that can
be used as a dopant. It reduces the ordering of lithium ions in LiMn2O4 spinel and this stabilizes the
spinel structure. It also increases capacity retention during cycling. Zinc is used as a dopant in
cathode materials as it has a stabilizing effect on the crystal structure. Addition of Zinc oxide also
prevents reaction between the electrode and electrolyte. Titanium along with cobalt also acts as a
stabilizer and also reduces dissolution of electrodes. Zirconium reduces reactivity levels between
the electrode and the electrolyte and performs the same function as titanium by stabilizing the
crystal structure. Aluminium is one of the most commonly used dopants in cathode materials. It
performs the function of increasing capacity of the electrodes. The addition of aluminium improves

Development Of A Simulation Management System
Summary
The main contribution of the proposed research is the development of a Simulation Management
System. Simulation models are vital to modern scientific research. These models tend to be
extremely complex, often with many sources of uncertainties and numerous factors. To understand
the impact of these factors and their interactions, on the simulation model results, requires effective
design of experiments. DoE allows construction of well defined procedures for ordering experiment
outcomes and offers a framework that can be used to replicate and validate those outcomes. In this
study, we propose an approach that integrates concepts of model driven engineering, intelligent
agent technology, and variability modeling to support the management of the lifecycle of a
simulation experiment. The Model Driven Engineering (MDE) methodology provides a framework
and strategy to move from the platform independent experiment domain space to the technical
space involving platform specific executable simulation experiment scripts. Experiment design
modeling is introduced for configurable experiment synthesis and execution. Feature oriented
variability modeling is used to design a family of experiments by allowing explicit specification of
variability in the configuration of experiments Adaptation is needed for continuous management of
stochastic simulation experiments. In simulation lifecycle management systems, adaptation is
proposed for dynamic experiment model updating.

Title of consider
Where there are problems, they are often with the way the Australian federal system operates, rather
than with federalism itself. Rather than criticising our federal system, we should be working to
make better use of its advantages
in order to improve our prosperity. In particular, the reform of
the allocation of powers and responsibilities between the Commonwealth and the States, and reform
of fiscal federalism, are desperately needed. (Twomey and Withers, 2007)
Twomey and Withers argue the approach of strategic pragmatism as outlined in Wanna s paper. The
basis of their position is that the federalism structure is unlikely to be subject to major redesign and
the discussion should focus on improving current operation.

Current Market Segments Of Tesla
changing market dynamics, rendering itself with certain information lag and marketing inaccuracy.
Current market segments of Tesla China are generally based on income level and an added up
function of technology savviness. Such market segment pattern can be easily seen through Tesla s
development track in China and its technological centric product strategy. The characteristic of such
market segments is quite straight forward, much resembles the characteristic of Tesla Motors itself.
Under the new market outlook, however, it can hardly afford to ignore the lower income fan base
which would have a huge positive promotional effect for Tesla brand.
With a large customer base and the Chinese government pushing force, would not be difficult for
Tesla to educate the unaware mass market of its concept and technological advances. This will
create a strong social stream which might influence its potential customers. The lower income
segments could also serve as a good customer base for the much anticipated Model 3.
2. Promotional Strategy
Create a Buzz
Tesla Motors had endorsed a direct sales strategy and pretty much only relied on word of mouth in
promoting its brand. Although word of mouth is one of the most credible ways of advertising, its
influence is quite limited especially during new product promotion. This approach has slowed down
the brand penetration process into the potential market segments, which might be a major reason
for the loss of sales momentum since last

Advantage And Disadvantage Of Decoder
ABSTRACT This paper focus on designing of efficient encoder and decoder blocks which are
aimed to reduce the power consumption in Network on Chip. The power consumption in NOC is
caused by the links, routers and network interfaces. This is caused because as the number of cores
in NOC increases the gap between the links decreases the coupling capacitance value increases due
to which the power consumption increases. The proposed scheme does not require any
modifications in router and link architecture and there is no network performance degradation. The
encoder is designed in such a way to calculate the power consumption and based on power value
the input data is encoded before transmission. The process of encoding can be done before
transmitting the data from one processing element to the other processing... Show more content on

The Pros And Cons Of Customs Union
The reason I chose Customs Union as my topic is to learn more about how members or potential
members of a union establish an agreement that benefit all parties. I find it interesting that
members of a union are able to influence one another s economic growth, competition and how
they can complement one another as well. Having a common trade policy among a group of
members and removing all barriers of trade can play a significant role in the success of a
business. It saves a lot money, and could be a competitive advantage over competitors. Countries
of a union joining can also impact its position in a global market, as well as help the country
economically. The ability for a group of countries to come together and help each other is
fascinating, and is why I chose to explore this topic more.
EXPLANATION OF KEY TERM
The third stage of Economic Integration is Customs Union. According to the Encyclopaedia of
Britannica, Customs Union is a trade agreement by which a group of countries charges a common
set of tariffs to the rest of the world while granting free trade among themselves (Encyclopedia
Britannica, 2010). Customs Union is free trade zone with common external tariffs; which helps
increase economic efficiency and allows for signatories to establish political and cultural ties.
Tariff barriers make it difficult for some countries to sell products in a foreign country because of
the additional taxes on imported goods, which is a price advantage to members of a

Analysis Of John T. Scopes Monkey Trial
Religion and science both face off in ВЁThe Scopes Monkey Trial, the case that America went
bananas over. Two men duel to prove their points about evolution and whether it defies state laws
or not. The conflict of John T. Scopes defying the Butler Act, an act prohibiting public school
teachers from denying Biblical accounts of man s origin, was temporarily resolved with Scopes
being fined, but this compromise was not entirely settled until the Butler Act was repealed years
later. Biblical theology was a very strong belief among many, even when scientists proved them
wrong with evidence. According to The Scopes Monkey Trial, Charles Darwin first caused
scandal to the U.S. when he published his book, On the Origin of Species By Means

Why Is Too Much Power Bad
Power is the ability and capability to control and influence others. Its leadership comes in all
assortments of packages. Power is critical and crucial to ascertain who delivers and who
dominates. Therefore, it is important to hold and maintain a steady level of power. An excess
power may lead to corruption, causing confusion to cloud and contaminate. This leads to the
question: Is too much power a bad thing? On June 19, 2009, Former Governor of Texas Rick
Perry observed and saw a total of forty bills (projectvotesmart.org). Out of those forty bills, Perry
rejected thirty six, meaning ninety percent of the bills presented were denied
(projectvotesmart.org). Now, statistically speaking, this means a bill had a one in ten chance, or a

The Lieutenant Governor can assign bills to committees in the Senate, as well as serving on
important boards and casting decisive vote on the Senate floor (laits.utexas.edu). Although the
Lieutenant Governor holds little responsibilities in the executive branch, the Lieutenant
Governor handle operations in lieu of the Governor, as the title implies (laits.utexas.edu). The
Governor, on the other hand, has the ability to veto bills, seen from previous Governor Rick
Perry (laits.utexas.edu). The Governor is also appointed to see laws become faithfully executed
(Beal 76). Powers also involve the position of commander in chief in state military forces,
advising a budget for the next two years, and selecting Texans execute laws and policies of the
state government (gov.texas.gov). Both Lieutenant Governor and Governor own and uphold
extensive degrees of power, but the one more powerful lies in how that power is used and what it
can be used for. Although the Lieutenant Governor is second in command behind the Governor,
similar to vice president to president, these powers are more versatile. The Governor may veto the
bills, but the Lieutenant Governor determines the order where bills are considered by the state
senate and has the ability to argue and make a vote on all issues, breaking the tie when the situation
arises (laits.utexas.edu). In a sense, the Governor holds more

Similarities Between America And Greek Immigration

once said Our similarities bring us to a common ground; our differences allow us to be
fascinated by each other. Everyone has a different story, whether it s something big like
immigration or something small like family tradition. These differences don t pull us apart, but
show us how unique we are and that being the same isn t always the best. While the typical
Greek immigrant left due to economic failure, prospered in America, and brought their rich
culture with them, the same cannot be said for my family. While there were some similarities
between the immigration of the typical Greek and my family, there are also many differences.
Leaving The year was 1820, and Greek emigration to America had just begun. More Greeks
began living outside of Greece rather than inside. There were more than 500,000 Greek
immigrants who had landed in America between 1820 and 1924, and approximately two thirds of
them had made America their permanent home (Moskos 335). So what began this mass migration
of the Greeks? Most major emigrations are caused by some kind of collapse, whether it is

So in 1947 they took a ship from Pereus, Greece to Ellis Island. The ship was named Marine
Carp and the ticket they bought was the lowest priced one available, because they were
extremely poor. Their journey lasted about one month, most of which they spent seasick in their
cabins. They were frightened about traveling to a new country, as they had never been on a ship
before. When they arrived at Ellis Island they were separated by gender and inspected one by one
for disease or infection. They were then asked a series of questions regarding information such as
their name, age, date of birth, etc. As soon as they made it through customs, they boarded a train
that was headed to Santa Barbara,

The Effects Of Environmental Hormones On Public Health And...
Environmental Hormone Mimics: Their Effects on Public Health and the Environment Cassandra
Kaur Sheanh California State University, Fresno Abstract This paper explores three published
articles that reflect the findings from studies conducted to examine the relationships between
environmental hormone mimics (endocrine disruptors) and their effect on the human body. This
paper specifically discusses three key environmental hormone mimics: bisphenol A, dioxins, and
pesticides. Each of the three studies links the chosen environmental hormone mimic to
abnormalities caused by exposure to the chemicals. Bisphenol A is linked directly to altering
estrogen levels in women. The consequences are carried onto the child if the carrying mother
ingests BPA while pregnant. Dioxins are extremely harmful and cannot be disposed of easily despite
the amount of land, money, and clean up efforts that are taken. Pesticides simply from working in
fields or by eating fruits and vegetables are very harmful in men. A male s reproductive system is
directly impaired as sperm counts drop dramatically and abnormalities effecting sperm size and
shape occur. Environmental Hormone Mimics and Their Effects on Public Health and the
Environment The National Institute of Environmental Health Services defines environmental
hormone mimics as a generic term for chemical substances, termed endocrine disruptors, that enter
the body and mimic hormones thus disrupting the

Hmong Refugees After The Secret War With The Pathet Laos
My family immigrated to the United States in the late 1970s, as Hmong refugees after the secret
war with the Pathet Laos. My family originally settled in San Diego, California for several years
before they decided to move to Fresno, California. When my parents came to Fresno they were
receiving welfare and attending adult school. My father noticed that their friends and relatives
were earning more money working in the fields than going to school. My parents dropped out of
adult school and started farming to support themselves and my five siblings. My parents felt they
couldn t stop farming because this was now their only way of earning an income to support the
family. Growing up, my parents would emphasize the importance of school and getting a
bachelor degree. My family plays an important role in my life. I have a strong relationship with
my parents, three sisters, two older brothers and my husband. My younger brother left the home
when he was 12 years old and the family has no contact with him. My family strength is our
support system and helping each other out. The other systems education, work, social interaction
and health are also important in my life. In my culture, the youngest son is supposed to take care
of my parents. However, my younger brother joins a gang and was getting involved in criminal
activities in middle school. These activities would never or would ever be permitted back in Laos.
But due the environment of this American culture, my parent had no

Sibling Relationships in A Yellow Raft in Blue Water Relationships play an important role in
one s life. They are formed on the basis of love and understanding. Relationship helps various
people in every aspect of life and assists them in being a better person. Such a relationship was
found in the novel A Yellow Raft In Blue Water. Christine and Lee had a unique brother sister
relationship. They cared for and protected each other and as well as overcame their fears of life.
Christine did not believe in herself and tried very hard to be accepted by the society. Lee was the
one who made Christine gain confidence and accepted her for who she was. Christine, on the other

Christine wanted Lee to be a patriotic young man who would do anything for his country. At
first Lee had not agreed to Christine s wish, If you go through with this you re not my brother
(164). When Lee contended his sister s wish, she was filled with pride. Secondly, both Christine
and Lee cared deeply for each other. They were equally important to each other and there was
always a mutual understanding between them. At one point Lee risked his life to save
Christine, although Lee was quite young at that time he still knew that it was important to
protect his sister. Lee was everywhere with me and in the spring he saved my life (146). This
quote describes the emotions existing between Lee and Christine. When Christine was in danger
Lee knew that he had to save her no matter what, she was his sister, she was the one person who
truly loved him and without her he would not be able to live on. He wasn t just my best friend, he
was the only I trusted, the only one who never let me down (156). In this line Christine conveys
her affection for Lee. Not only did Lee and Christine treasure an exceptional relationship, they were
best friend who trusted each other with their lives. Finally, Lee and Christine surmounted their fears
of life by being with one another. Christine had always feared rejection, without Lee s love and
understanding Christine would never have had her carefree

The Properties of Hydrostatics
Three containers are filled with water to the same height and have the same surface area at the
base: hence the water pressure and total force on the base of each is the same. Yet the total weight
of the water is different for each. Explain this hydrostatic paradox
The key to this problem is that the force on a container due to the hydrostatic pressure is always
perpendicular to the surface of the water. According to Newton s 3rd law, the container will push
back on the water in the exact opposite direction, also perpendicular to the surface of the container
Consider what happens when you push both a pin and the blunt end of a pen against your skin with
the same force. Decide what determines whether your skin is cut. The net force ... Show more

Will an empty balloon have precisely the same apparent weight on a scale as a balloon filled with
air? Explain.
If air is incompressible, then yes.The full balloon will have more weight (more downward
force), due to the mass of the air in the balloon. The full balloon will also have an upward
buoyant force on it, equal to the weight of the air displaced by the balloon. Since the balloon is
both containing air and floating in air, the weight of the air inside the balloon is the same
magnitude as the buoyant force. Filled balloon has a higher apparent density compared to empty
balloon.
IF you dangle 2 pieces of paper vertically a few inches apart and blow between then, how do you
think the papers will move?
The papers will move toward each other. Bernoulli s principle says that as the speed of the gas
flow increases, the pressure decreases (when there is no appreciable change in height). So as the
air passes between the papers, the air pressure between the papers is lowered. The air pressure on
the outside of the papers is then greater than that between the papers, and so the papers are pushed
together.
Children are told to avoid standing too close to a rapidly moving train because they might get
sucked in under it. Is this possible? Explain.
It is possible. Due to viscosity, some of the air near the train will be pulled along at a speed
approximately that of the train. By Bernoulli s principle, that air will be at a lower pressure than air

Persuasive Essay On Music Education
Music Education Despite the vast number of children who learn musical instruments, many people
still do not fully understand all the benefits of music education. When budget cuts and low funding
threaten course elimination, music is often one of the first to go. This should not be the case,
however, because learningto play an instrument can build self esteem, increase various social and
academic skills and can help them become a well rounded person (Montgomery). Musiceducation is
incredibly valuable, especially for children. The benefits that children can gain from learning music
will make lasting impacts on them. Playing musical instruments has copious benefits on a child s
intellect, and social skills, and personal growth. Learning music has incredible benefits on children
s cognitive development and intelligence. Children gain many skills through music, and a child
learning about music has to tap into multiple skill sets, often simultaneously (Brown). Learning
music substantially helps children grow in other areas of learning. In a study by E. Glenn
Schellenberg, six year olds were given voice and piano lessons and their IQ s were compared to six
year olds without music lessons. At the end of the experiment, ...the children who were given music
lessons over the school year tested on average three IQ points higher than the other groups (Brown).
When children are involved in music, they are increasing their intellectual capacity. The ability to
play or sing music can help children in math, english, and and problem solving. There have been
countless studies and research that show higher test scores and grades in musical students when
compared to non musical students. In fact, a research team exploring the link between music and
intelligence reported that music training is far superior to computer instruction in dramatically
enhancing children s abstract reasoning skills, the skills necessary for learning math and science
(Shankar Mahadevan Academy). Music is an artistic area of study, but clearly has a strong impact
on important core subjects for students. Through understanding rhythm and scales, as well as beats
per measure, children can learn about fractions and other math skills. Reading the

John Forbes Nash Research Paper
John Forbes Nash, was born on June 13, 1928, in Bluefield, West Virginia, a former coal town
deep in the Appalachian mountains. His mother, Virginia, who was also very intelligent, was a
former teacher who had big dreams for her son, she taught him how to read, learn Latin at the age
of 4(Nash, 2). When growing up children are usually really active in playing sports or just playing
with toys outside; however, Nash s parents noticed that he had a great interest in education at a very
young age. On which they started enthusiastically encouraging Nash s education by buying his
science books, coloring books, and being self taught by his mother while his father would work.
In high school Nash s parents, pursued opportunities to supplement his education by making him
take advanced mathematics courses at a local community college called Carnegie Institute of
Technology. Nash was later given a full scholarship for his outstanding performances in
mathematics, the George Westinghouse Scholarship, which led him to major in chemical
engineering. During his last semester before graduating, Nash came in contact with John Synge

know it. We thought our family holiday was going great there hadn t been any of the arguments
that cause my mother to say that it pack everything we are going back home, i have had enough .
Even if she had said that i would highly doubt that she would get the car all packed to drive ten

road out of the holiday park that led onto the main road. Driving along happily looking out the
window at all the brightly green grassed fields and watching the cars passing. We were just about
at our destination, we turn up this turn off and drove underneath a huge bridge. The road was so
curvy and i could feel my stomach being shaken around like a mixing blender, finally we got of
that road. I noticed a sign that said welcome to portsmouth
My dad s face look amazed and filled with joy that we have managed to get there without any
problem, well he spoke to soon. Around the corner we went past a few pubs and restaurants they
look very run down but anyway we reached a set of traffic lights and we ended up getting stuck at
the red light. It felt like everyone and there

  • 3. The Sayings Of Poor Richard By Benjamin Franklin One lesson I learned from The sayings of Poor Richard by Ben Franklin was that actions speak louder than words. Franklin said He that composes himself is wiser than he that composes books. (Franklin) This analogy is saying I shouldn t criticize how others act, if I don t act the way I should. In the story, Poor Richard was trying to find the ways to achieve moral perfection. He believed that being able to compose yourself is way more important than telling others what to do. Composing yourself means to watch your own actions, and strive to be morally excellent. Somebody s actions shows the kind of person they are, not what they say. Being all talk can make an individual appear a fool. It s a lot easier to say something then do something. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Inequalities In European Culture Inequality has been an issue from the dawn of time. All throughout history we can see prime examples of this. World war two and the german invasion, The Spanish and the Incas, and the most well known example, today. But few people have ever asked why it s always been this way. Europe had geography on it s side, giving them agricultural advantages, helping them to domesticate animals (and in turn, building resistance to disease) leading to a surplus of food for specialists to invent and experiment. Finally, that led to the decimation of other cultures, and the appropriation of their resources. Geography affects climate which in turn controls what crops can grow in an area and if or how they feed, power, and ultimately drive a community. Papua... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Steel was the turning point for Europe, setting their destiny in stone, and securing their chance at world domination. Europe had this beautiful collection of resources. Their most notable was their surplus of food and domesticated animals that gave them time. Time that was used by specialists. Focusing on the Spanish who, thanks to their latitude, could create roaring hot fires and with a supply of iron, their specialists could create steel. But looking at the Incas, they had the time and climate, however, they were lacking in iron. Thus, steel was not created in the Incan empire. So with steel, the Spanish soared ahead, creating tools, weapons, vessels for travel overseas, and the plow, which allowed for even more time and in turn, more specialists. Because the Inca didn t have steel, they had to rely on stone tools and their single domesticated animal, the llama. Without steel, we wouldn t be anywhere near where we are today. Steel allowed for civilizations to sail, farm, cut down armies, and grow in great ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Being a Buddhist Rui Gong RELB 2100 Buddhism Being a Buddhist The secret of Buddhism is to remove all ideas, all concepts, in order for the truth to have a chance to penetrate, to reveal itself. ― ThГch Nhất HбєЎnh (1926 ) Born and raised in China, it seems very common for me to become a Buddhist. Growing up seeing all the majestic Buddhism temples, august figure of Buddha and merciful Bodhisattvas, it seems that Buddhism is an integral part of me. In my mind, Buddhism is like a pure lotus growing out of the feculent muddy water; without being contaminated at all, it keeps delivering its pleasant, inspiring, compassionate fragrance to the whole world, making the world better and clearer, just like a Bodhisattva. However, some people argue over the idea of having no passion left in life , believing that in this way, we are treating our lives negatively. But they are misunderstanding it. Having no passion does not mean giving up the life; in fact, it means that we are not eager to get the good results, and we are not result oriented anymore. But still, we keep a decent attitude towards life. In this way, we no longer feel sorry or angry when we do not succeed, because we never long for it and we are ready to embrace any consequent; we neither feel happy or the unhappy sense of loss when we achieve something, because we never think of gaining. This is the most important lesson I learned from Buddhism, which has been bringing me power and tranquility that I have never felt before. Third, everything is emptiness (Khyentse 55). When we analyze ourselves and the world, we may find out that everything is interdependent thus totally impermanent, and we do not have any control of anything, even ourselves; the form , time , and space can easily be dismantled, thus they equal to emptiness (Khyentse 57). Looking around, everything we see now will be different in the next instant; even though the appearance does not change, the inside nature changes, which no one has any control of. Of course we can see and touch things that physically exist, but they do not exist inherently, and that is what we call emptiness . ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Also, the meeting gives information on how later in the meeting they are going to explain a new resolution of the surplus of the house abandonment. Something very nice that they did at first is how they made a program called Super Stars Students of the month to reward kids for doing greats in school as a way trying to push them to become something important in the future, and not giving up their dreams. Not only had they rewarded the kids but also two employees who were great in services for a long time. My conclusion with this meeting is that the city does take care of the opinion of the public as they try to explain the issue in a very clear matter; we could see that the city is trying to become better each day and trying to resolve the problems presented but again is something that the people has to have patience into knowing that these agendas take a long period into being analyzed, approved and executed. Adventures Of A Once Homeless Girl Adventures of a Once Homeless Girl UXDE dot Net Wordpress Themes by SamPac07/07/07 ( I have noticed this very odd coincidence that every night we slept on the street was the anniversary of terrorist bombings and catastrophes, as I look back on it, I am not really sure what to think, was it just a coincidence? or is there more than meets the eye...I hope to find the answer) The night I slept outside in September was definitely the worst and horrific and I could never forget this one either. This experience was slightly different because it was in London. Yet again we had run out of money to pay for another night stay at a hotel. We had run out of money the night before when we only had ВЈ60 left enough to pay for one night sharing a single room. The hotels are usually not allowed to do this but the lady at the reception desk allowed us to stay because we explained to her that we had no money left. We did not have any dinner that night and had no clue of what to do the next day. The next morning we had to check out. And still we had no money, we had no idea what to do. The suitcases were still with us and they were so difficult to travel around London with. So I decided to put all our luggage inside the hotel s storage room and leave it there until we knew what to do. The hotels that we had been staying at in London were within close proximity of Hyde Park, so we would spend hours everyday just sitting there. Hour after hour we sat in the park that day as ... • 10. John R Searle Can Computers Think Summary In Can Computers Think?, John R. Searle argues that strong artificial intelligence is false and therefore machines cannot think or exhibit understanding like a human mind. Strong AI claims that a correctly written program running on a machine functions as a mind and there are essentially no differences between the software exactly emulating the actions of the brain and the mental contents of a human. Searle uses a thought experiment called the Chinese RoomArgument to argue against strong AI. Various objections, such as the Robot Reply, challenge Searle s argument by further testing the potential of a machine to possess understanding, intentionality, and subjectivity. In this essay, I will argue that Searle s argument against strong AI... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I will explain two objections to Searle but conclude that the Robot Reply is a stronger objection. First, the System s Reply claims that the person in the Chinese Room does not implement the computer software. Rather, the person is only part of the machinery and the system as a whole implements the software. The System s Reply claims the larger system understands Chinese even if the person running the program does not. I assert that the person running the program can internalize the larger system and still cannot understand Chinese, that is, gain semantics from syntax. In comparison to the Systems Reply, the Robot Reply adds the capacity for casual interaction with the world. The Robot Reply concedes that Searle is correct that a computer trapped in a computer room could not understand the meaning of the language whose symbols it is manipulating. However, the Robot reply further claims that such a computer in a robot body, with the ability to move and interact with the world through sensors, could attach meaning to symbols and actually understand the language. While the Robot Reply is the strongest objection to the Chinese Room Argument, I oppose this objection to Searle s argument because the robot system continues to follow a computational set of rules that are established through its ... • 11. The Importance Of Teachers On The Classroom Environment In order to develop strong relationships with my students, colleagues, and parents, I plan to do a variety of little things to yield big results. The relationship that teachers have with students is vital to the classroom environment. In You ve Got to Reach Them to Teach Them, Mary Kim Schrek writes that the human encounter between teacher and student is often a more powerful teaching tool than the academic content, the grade, the data analysis, and the hours spent picking apart the curriculum (Schrek, 2011, p. 5). In order to establish such relationships, I plan to follow a four step procedure that I read about in an article by Nina Sears on the National EducationAssociation s website. Sears article suggests that a teacher get to know their students, individualize the curriculum, watch what they say, and keep trying to reach students (Sears, 2014). As an attempt to get to know my students, I will create a little survey on the first day of school for each student to fill out; questions would include asking my students what their favorite color is or what type of books they like to read. By doing this, I will learn about my students likes and dislikes and how to use their answer in the curriculum. Individualizing the curriculum might seem like a huge undertaking but if a teacher is willing to work with the student, it is not a big deal. For example, I was an auditory learner and I had a teacher who altered the project requirements so I could write a song to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Julius Caesar Survival Strategy Essay The simulation that involved survival and, at least for me, strategy began as another humdrum class assignment for most that erupted into a battle of (simulated) control and life. Upon entry of the class room we were asked to pair off and that our wisest couple step forward. As I ve learned from many influences in life from gameshows such as Big Brother and Survivor, to the tale of Julius Caesar, you do not want to be the figure head power in any situation and thus refrained from such self promotion. Once our leaders were chosen the scenario was given and the events to follow would give us a look into human mentality and how changes to one s position can drastically affect their actions. As soon I knew the situation my initial thought was to over throw the leadership as my main goal was to keep my family alive and what better way to do that then to instill a leadership of my own. This plan came into full swing when the leaders presented their plan that would surely doom if not me at least one of my loved ones. With a few firmly asked questions and the suggestion of a plan to lengthen our time the mob began to grow restless and rally behind me. And by the end of class we were prepared to... This complete adoption of his role reminded me of the behavior of the subjects of the Stanford Prison Experiment. The second time will be to save the faithful from the destruction of fire with the ark of rapture by a Bridegroom. It has never been God s method in the past to pour wrath out on believers! Noah and his family went inside of the ark seven days before the flood. The ark was a covering like a huppa, which is symbolic of heaven. The church will be raptured away just like an ancient Jewish bride would have been. The Holy Spirit fell on the church at Pentecost after Jesusreturned to His Father s house. The Holy Spirit is the Comforter that Jesus promised would come after His Ascension. The Holy Spirit manifested within the body of the church, and it is the current restrainer of the antichrist. A spirit needs a body to manifest itself in, and when the Holy Spirit filled church is gone, Satan, who is a spirit, will be able to take over inside of the antichrist. The apostle Paul tells us this in 2Thessalonians 2:7 NASB, For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way. *** No one knows the hour, but people have tried to set dates for Jesus return. • 17. Lgbt History And The Modern Era There are many topics prevalent shown throughout history. History books in today s society highlight the majority of groups of people and historical events. This essay will prove that there is a problematic issue where LGBT lives and existences are being erased throughout history and the modern era. Throughout, it will be explained how these groups of people are being underrepresented within history, major wars, and the modern era. History covers a very broad spectrum of time, with recorded history going as far back as five thousand years. Yet, within this period of five thousand years, history books implemented in school systems rarely give detail to LGBT people (Carter, It s Time to Write LGBT History into the Textbooks ). For example, within America, homosexualityhas been shown throughout Native American tribes long before Europeans even stepped foot onto the land. While traditional European beliefs define a person s sexual identity male or female based on biological determination, Native American s have a vast variety of how sexuality is viewed. Native Americans believed the Creator created three different genders; males, females and two spirits, following the Plato model of roles. Gender roles and gender identity mirrored one another, each containing their own magical attributes according to lore. Small and large seashells covered the beach, piled in some places, as if to create cairns where stones were absent. For some, it happens more than once. This is the case for our main character in the short storyThe Rental Heart , by Kirsty Logan. To begin with, the reader has no clue as to whether the main character is a boy or a girl. In my head though, I got the image of a girl. It has been abused many times, so it is tarnished. And because of all this, it leaves her with nothing more than an empty space. Maybe the island that she says she went to for a year isn t really an island that she actually went to either. Maybe she just closed herself down mentally, unable to deal with the world with a broken heart. That could have felt to other people, as if she was actually away on an island. What seems to be pulling this story towards science fiction the most however, seems to be the fact that even though it s all clearly one big metaphor for getting your heart broken and mending it again, it s nowhere close to how reality is. Heartbreaks come in all shapes and sizes. But in real life you can t just go well, tough luck, she wasn t the one for me, so I m not going to be sad about it . These principles are ranked below from 1 being the most important to 3 being important. Demonstrate personal integrity (1) There has not been much discussion about the code of ethics in the past administrations than in Trump Administration. Personal integrity is an asset in today s time where the political chaos runs the White House and where a hullabaloo takes place every week. The atmosphere of chaos prevails in the government and society, which causes disruptive governance to run in every level. In this presidency, there is a sense of aristocracy where the privileged class has taken over the voice of the people and only depends on those members of Congress who adhere to integrity to do what is right for the least privilege. Upbringing integrity to the best of one character brings out courage to overcome obstacles. It is not a secret that if officials who hold high positions and stand by their own decisions always fear repercussions, but with this administration, they fear dismissal. For example, the attorney general Saly Yates, who was fired after she defied the president s executive order banning people from seven Muslim majority countries entering the U.S. (Newsweek, 2017). • 33. The Effect Of Lying Had On Nervous System By Monitoring... Introduction: During this study we assessed the effect lying had on the autonomic nervous system by monitoring galvanic skin response (GSR). We used GSR, a measure of the skin conductivity, as a very basic form of polygraph test. The electronic conductivity of skin in not held constant. Instead, it changes based on the current state of the autonomic nervous system (ANS). The ANS is comprised of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system (Gazzaniga and Heatherton, 2015). The sympathetic branch causes increases in arousal. It controls responses such as pupil dilation, increased heart rate, and decreased digestive activity that are normally associated with the fight or flight response (Gazzaniga and Heatherton, 2015). The parasympathetic branch acts in opposition to the sympathetic nervous system. It lowers arousal and returns the body to normal resting conditions. We believe that the act of lying will cause the sympathetic nervous system to increase arousal resulting in higher skin conductivity and therefore larger changes in GSR. As a result, we hypothesize that lying will cause a larger mean change in GSR height then telling the truth. Simulation models are vital to modern scientific research. These models tend to be extremely complex, often with many sources of uncertainties and numerous factors. To understand the impact of these factors and their interactions, on the simulation model results, requires effective design of experiments. DoE allows construction of well defined procedures for ordering experiment outcomes and offers a framework that can be used to replicate and validate those outcomes. In this study, we propose an approach that integrates concepts of model driven engineering, intelligent agent technology, and variability modeling to support the management of the lifecycle of a simulation experiment. The Model Driven Engineering (MDE) methodology provides a framework and strategy to move from the platform independent experiment domain space to the technical space involving platform specific executable simulation experiment scripts. Experiment design modeling is introduced for configurable experiment synthesis and execution. Feature oriented variability modeling is used to design a family of experiments by allowing explicit specification of variability in the configuration of experiments Adaptation is needed for continuous management of stochastic simulation experiments. Recently generated global microwave maps of Saturn exposed detail of a mostly stable atmospheric environment. There were some unpredicted diversity, including arid, desert like patches in Saturn s atmosphere. The photo I chose is of a massive storm on Saturn in its north polar region. In false color the storm looks like a deep rose color, which aids in seeing the details of this storm. A measuring of the eye is a staggering 1,250 miles across. Cloud speeds reach as fast as 330 miles per hour. This photo is truly amazing because it really shows one of the reasons why Saturn is so fascinating. Current market segments of Tesla China are generally based on income level and an added up function of technology savviness. Such market segment pattern can be easily seen through Tesla s development track in China and its technological centric product strategy. The characteristic of such market segments is quite straight forward, much resembles the characteristic of Tesla Motors itself. Under the new market outlook, however, it can hardly afford to ignore the lower income fan base which would have a huge positive promotional effect for Tesla brand. With a large customer base and the Chinese government pushing force, would not be difficult for Tesla to educate the unaware mass market of its concept and technological advances. This will create a strong social stream which might influence its potential customers. The lower income segments could also serve as a good customer base for the much anticipated Model 3. 2. Promotional Strategy Create a Buzz Tesla Motors had endorsed a direct sales strategy and pretty much only relied on word of mouth in promoting its brand. Although word of mouth is one of the most credible ways of advertising, its influence is quite limited especially during new product promotion. This approach has slowed down the brand penetration process into the potential market segments, which might be a major reason for the loss of sales momentum since last ... • 41. Advantage And Disadvantage Of Decoder ABSTRACT This paper focus on designing of efficient encoder and decoder blocks which are aimed to reduce the power consumption in Network on Chip. The power consumption in NOC is caused by the links, routers and network interfaces. This is caused because as the number of cores in NOC increases the gap between the links decreases the coupling capacitance value increases due to which the power consumption increases. The proposed scheme does not require any modifications in router and link architecture and there is no network performance degradation. The encoder is designed in such a way to calculate the power consumption and based on power value the input data is encoded before transmission. The process of encoding can be done before transmitting the data from one processing element to the other processing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Size. Communication within a chip is hundreds of times faster than the communication between chips on a printed circuit board. Generally the high speed of circuit s on chip is due to their small size smaller components and wires have smaller parasitic capacitances to slow down the signal. Power consumption. The power consumption in Integrated circuits can be done mainly due to switching activity (logic 0 to logic1) which increases the capacitances value. The integrated circuit having less power consumption is preferable and provides huge life time. INTEGRATED CIRCUIT ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. The Pros And Cons Of Customs Union The reason I chose Customs Union as my topic is to learn more about how members or potential members of a union establish an agreement that benefit all parties. I find it interesting that members of a union are able to influence one another s economic growth, competition and how they can complement one another as well. Having a common trade policy among a group of members and removing all barriers of trade can play a significant role in the success of a business. It saves a lot money, and could be a competitive advantage over competitors. Countries of a union joining can also impact its position in a global market, as well as help the country economically. The ability for a group of countries to come together and help each other is fascinating, and is why I chose to explore this topic more. EXPLANATION OF KEY TERM The third stage of Economic Integration is Customs Union. According to the Encyclopaedia of Britannica, Customs Union is a trade agreement by which a group of countries charges a common set of tariffs to the rest of the world while granting free trade among themselves (Encyclopedia Britannica, 2010). Customs Union is free trade zone with common external tariffs; which helps increase economic efficiency and allows for signatories to establish political and cultural ties. Tariff barriers make it difficult for some countries to sell products in a foreign country because of the additional taxes on imported goods, which is a price advantage to members of a ... Power is critical and crucial to ascertain who delivers and who dominates. Therefore, it is important to hold and maintain a steady level of power. These differences don t pull us apart, but show us how unique we are and that being the same isn t always the best. While the typical Greek immigrant left due to economic failure, prospered in America, and brought their rich culture with them, the same cannot be said for my family. While there were some similarities between the immigration of the typical Greek and my family, there are also many differences. Environmental Hormone Mimics: Their Effects on Public Health and the Environment Cassandra Kaur Sheanh California State University, Fresno Abstract This paper explores three published articles that reflect the findings from studies conducted to examine the relationships between environmental hormone mimics (endocrine disruptors) and their effect on the human body. This paper specifically discusses three key environmental hormone mimics: bisphenol A, dioxins, and pesticides. Each of the three studies links the chosen environmental hormone mimic to abnormalities caused by exposure to the chemicals. Bisphenol A is linked directly to altering estrogen levels in women. The consequences are carried onto the child if the carrying mother ingests BPA while pregnant. Dioxins are extremely harmful and cannot be disposed of easily despite the amount of land, money, and clean up efforts that are taken. Pesticides simply from working in fields or by eating fruits and vegetables are very harmful in men. A male s reproductive system is directly impaired as sperm counts drop dramatically and abnormalities effecting sperm size and shape occur. Environmental Hormone Mimics and Their Effects on Public Health and the Environment The National Institute of Environmental Health Services defines environmental hormone mimics as a generic term for chemical substances, termed endocrine disruptors, that enter the body and mimic hormones thus disrupting the ... The Properties of Hydrostatics Three containers are filled with water to the same height and have the same surface area at the base: hence the water pressure and total force on the base of each is the same. Yet the total weight of the water is different for each. Explain this hydrostatic paradox The key to this problem is that the force on a container due to the hydrostatic pressure is always perpendicular to the surface of the water. According to Newton s 3rd law, the container will push back on the water in the exact opposite direction, also perpendicular to the surface of the container Consider what happens when you push both a pin and the blunt end of a pen against your skin with the same force. Will an empty balloon have precisely the same apparent weight on a scale as a balloon filled with air? Explain. If air is incompressible, then yes.The full balloon will have more weight (more downward force), due to the mass of the air in the balloon. The full balloon will also have an upward buoyant force on it, equal to the weight of the air displaced by the balloon. Since the balloon is both containing air and floating in air, the weight of the air inside the balloon is the same magnitude as the buoyant force. Filled balloon has a higher apparent density compared to empty balloon. IF you dangle 2 pieces of paper vertically a few inches apart and blow between then, how do you think the papers will move? The papers will move toward each other. Bernoulli s principle says that as the speed of the gas flow increases, the pressure decreases (when there is no appreciable change in height). So as the air passes between the papers, the air pressure between the papers is lowered. The air pressure on the outside of the papers is then greater than that between the papers, and so the papers are pushed together. Children are told to avoid standing too close to a rapidly moving train because they might get sucked in under it. Is this possible? Explain. It is possible. • 51. Persuasive Essay On Music Education Music Education Despite the vast number of children who learn musical instruments, many people still do not fully understand all the benefits of music education. When budget cuts and low funding threaten course elimination, music is often one of the first to go. This should not be the case, however, because learningto play an instrument can build self esteem, increase various social and academic skills and can help them become a well rounded person (Montgomery). Musiceducation is incredibly valuable, especially for children. The benefits that children can gain from learning music will make lasting impacts on them. Playing musical instruments has copious benefits on a child s intellect, and social skills, and personal growth. Learning music has incredible benefits on children s cognitive development and intelligence. Children gain many skills through music, and a child learning about music has to tap into multiple skill sets, often simultaneously (Brown). Learning music substantially helps children grow in other areas of learning. In a study by E. Glenn Schellenberg, six year olds were given voice and piano lessons and their IQ s were compared to six year olds without music lessons. At the end of the experiment, ...the children who were given music lessons over the school year tested on average three IQ points higher than the other groups (Brown). When children are involved in music, they are increasing their intellectual capacity. The ability to play or sing music can help children in math, english, and and problem solving. There have been countless studies and research that show higher test scores and grades in musical students when compared to non musical students. In fact, a research team exploring the link between music and intelligence reported that music training is far superior to computer instruction in dramatically enhancing children s abstract reasoning skills, the skills necessary for learning math and science (Shankar Mahadevan Academy). Music is an artistic area of study, but clearly has a strong impact on important core subjects for students. Through understanding rhythm and scales, as well as beats per measure, children can learn about fractions and other math skills. Reading the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
