Advantages And Disadvantages Of Gm Soybeans
GM Soybeans
Soybeans are beans which are from the legume family which are native to East Asia. They can grow
on a variety of soils and wide range of climates, ranging from snowy to tropical climates (Rob).
Soybeans are used to make food such as tofu and soymilk, although it is most often processed into oil,
which can be used for cooking, or sold for biodiesel production. The left over which are not used for
oil can be used for animal food due to the high protein fiber which is in the left over. The GM
Soybean, also called Roundup Ready (RR) Soybean, was developed by the biotech company
Monsanto and was commercially available to farmers in 1996 (Editor, 2008). This GM soybean
contains a gene that makes it resistant to herbicides which would ... Show more content on

Furthermore, superweeds are created, which are resistant to that specific herbicide. To then kill the
superweeds, a different kind of herbicide has to be used, which additionally harms the environment.
Due to this, many amounts of herbicides have to be used. In addition to the GM superweed being bad
for the environment, it is also bad for the economy as poor farmers can t afford the GM soybeans.
Without the GM soybean, the conventional soybeans do not possess the genes which make them resist
herbicides and harsher weather. This will result in a smaller amount of soybeans to sell, which will
then make the farmers without the rights to use GM soybeans have less income. As a result, the
farmers without the GM soybean are unable to make the soybeans cheaper as they would then not
make any profit. Although the GM soybean is mainly bad for the economy, it is also good as some
farmers profit from this. The GM seeds allow the farmers to have more harvest as fewer soybeans will
die due to weather, other plants or insects. As a result, these farmers will be able to sell the soybeans at
a cheaper price, making more profit, as there is a greater quantity of

Abolishment Of Slavery
I am well educated on slavery and the abolishment of it. I believe the abolishment of slavery
movement in the United States valued personal freedom and that all men are created equal. I also
believe that the movement grew more forceful leading slave owners to become stimulated which led
to the American Civil War.
One of the main reasons that slavery should be abolished is because of the people who own slaves and
how they treat them inhumanly. All humans are equal. When we use another individual as a slave, it
hurts humanity, more importantly, hurts the person who s serving as the slave. The slave who didn t
want to become the slave in the first place could have potentially became someone important in the
world. When we keep someone in captivity,

Progressive Education Essay
John Keating, a student at Welton Academy inspired his fellow classmates, to meet in caves and read
challenging poetry of the past, not with flashcards, but with these words, Now, my class, you will
learn to think for yourselves again. You will learn to savor words and language. No matter what
anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world. Typically, students do not hear enough of
this type of passion in a traditional classroom. However, a progressive classroom, be it a cave or
college can inspire students to memorize facts, not because they have to, but rather because they want
to for the betterment of humanity. Society desperately needs students educated in a progressive style
because America needs students who realize ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Educational philosopher, Marie Montessori was a strong advocate for such learning, particularly for
children under age three who have a strong interest in learning through the use of movement and
verbal play (So what s Montessori and Piaget?).
John Dewey, another educational philosopher believed Education is a social process. Education is
growth. Education is, not a preparation for life; education is life itself. (Inc.) He felt that learning took
place only when students had internalized what they had gained through experience and practiced it in
their own lives. In a progressive classroom, the teacher designs experiences for students with the idea
that through experience, students build knowledge and skills. A society of individuals conforming to
studying flashcards may be good, but a society of literate individuals consciously aware of why and
how the facts on the flashcards and in mass media can solve new problems is better.
A progressive classroom looks different, and a progressive teacher inspires unique thinking in
individual students differently, as well. Instead of being strict with a set curriculum and specific
subject to cover, teachers find their students present interests, abilities, and needs. Developing
individualized education plans based on student interests and

The Banking Concept Of Education
In the excerpt from The Banking Concept of Education the author, Paulo Freire explains the critical
flaw in the current education system. He continues by offering his believed solution to this problem.
The two concepts Freire discusses in this excerpt are the banking concept of education and the
problem posing method of education. The banking concept is talked about rather negatively, whereas
the problem posing method is talked about highly. Freire believes in the problem posing method and
that students should have free will to a certain extent in the classroom with less authoritative power
from the teacher during discussions.
This flawed concept in education today is the oppressive depositing of information (banking
education) by teachers to students. Banking education (for obvious reasons) attempts, by mythicizing
reality, to conceal certain facts which explain the way people exist in the world... (p.224) The banking
concept is an act that hinders the intellectual growth of students by turning them into receptors and
collectors of information that have no true connection to their lives. The banking concept is essentially
turning humans into objects. Banking education inhibits creativity and domesticates (although it
cannot completely destroy) the intentionality of consciousness by isolating consciousness from the
world, thereby denying people their ontological and historical vocation of becoming more fully
human. (p.224) This type of education

Robert Frost Poetry Analysis
This poem was written by Robert Frost in 1923, in New Hampshire. He wrote it for political reasons
because he was mourning the end of the world. It does not appear as it was origianally written. It was
not part of a series or collection. It also does not belong to any particular movement.
This poem was not written about any person or national hero. It is not a lyric, or a haiku. It is,
however, a conffesional poem, as it speaks of his opinion of the polotics of that time.
Yes, because, the title is obvious as it describes the main topic of the poem. No, there is really only
one set meaning to the poem. There is no balance, as it mainly talks about the end of the world. There
is really no obvious opposite in this poem. Yes, it mentions the garden of Eden in the poem.
The only repitition in the poem, that I could find, was when he mentioned leaves dieing.
This poem suggests the passing of day and the change of the seasons in this poem. The passage of day
is obvious, with no gaps in between
The name Eden has value because Eden was a garden of holy perfection, So Eden sank to grief means
that the world ends.
Yes, at first glance this poem appears to be about nature and the seasons, but if you take into
consideration that he was unhappy with the politics at the time, things begin to make more sense.
Yes, because this poem shows that, at this point in time, the people where unhappy with the politics,

The Chemistry Of Fluid Dynamics Essay
While there is certainly much left to be explained and understood in the field of fluid dynamics, there
is still a certain level of common sense that one has concerning what one would consider to be
ordinary fluids, such as water. It makes sense that such fluids, say, take the shape of their containers,
or tend to flow down an inclined plane, or proceed with the same mass flow rate given that the fluid
does not build up along the flow channel. Likewise, with solids, there are certain, seemingly common
sense properties, such as a certain level of resistance to deformation and a certain amount of elasticity.
However, there are some materials which are effectively in an in between state which exhibit
properties of both viscous liquids and elastic solids, known as viscoelastic fluids. This edition of
elastic properties to what would otherwise be well characterized as viscous fluids poses novel
scientific questions from the scale of the nanoparticles contained within the viscoelastic fluid up to
considerations of viscoelastic fluids stretching across space. Regarding the latter, M. S. Janaki, N.
Chakrabarti, and D. Banerjee have investigated how viscoelasticity changes the behavior of a self
gravitating fluid in space with a particular focus on the Jeans instability, or the mechanism by which
internal pressures can no longer counter balance the self gravitational force of such fluids, prompting a
collapse []. Since more typical stellar media and cases in which electrostatics

Multicultural Theories In Social Work
Studying of human behavior has never been easier, and as the population increases, their actions
become complicated. As a result, social worker as a professional has different theories that guide them
in the process of assessing, evaluating and intervening at various levels in the society (Jayapalan,
2014). In fact, most of these theories usually focus on the study of aspects that make humans different,
and an example of the focus include human growth and their development, psychological aspect,
social functioning as well as service delivery. However, some theories just highlight social and
economic equality. Also, almost all of the theories in social work practice are usually come out of
social and historical context, and there should, therefore, be critiqued because of their multicultural
applicability. With the aim of understanding persons and their environment, as well as the processes of
assessment, intervention, and evaluation, system theory perspective used. System theory includes
ecological systems, and it typically focuses on how different individuals interact with others in their
environment (Turner, 2014). In fact, social workers use this theory in understanding different
individuals while in their constant transaction within their environment. For example, system theory
suggests that different systems and subsystems in the societies are interrelated parts. Also, the other
common concept of system theory states that each subsystem affects several other areas of

Demographic Transition From Rural to Urban Areas
From 2000 until 2030 the urbanized areas will be nearly tripled1 because of the demographic
transition from rural to urban. The use of dark building materials, such as asphalt and concrete, leads
to a lower albedo in urbanized areas than in natural environment2, fostering local and global warming.
In turn, the increase in urban albedo might support climate stabilization efforts3. Here, we investigate
the potential effect of the increase in albedo in a representative set of European cities relying on
instantaneous radiative forcing (IRF), urban cooling and the consequent effect on mortality, ozone
formation and energy use. Apart from any geographical distinction, cities show that the increases in
albedo in compact cities have a cooling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, we use the effect of the local variation in temperature on the heating and cooling degree
days (HDD) (CDD) as a proxy for the effect on energy use and on the related greenhouse gas
emissions. Although these indicators are not representative of all t, they cover the most important
ones. We calculate the potential effect of the local unitary increase in albedo on IRF responsiveness
(R) for a sample of 145 cities and urbanized areas in three geographical areas: southern; central; and
northern Europe (see Methods). Low cloudiness and high solar radiation make R in southern European
cities two times higher than in other regions (see SI Table 1). The mean R in northern European cities
is slightly higher than in central European cities with values of 46 and 45 Wm 2 respectively (Fig. 1)
since cloudiness is lower in northern Europe. This result shows that climatological features would
potentially make southern cities more effective that central and northern European ones in
counteracting climate change.
Apart from any geographical and climatological distinction, the peculiar size and the morphological
characterization of each city may play a role in affecting IRF. We calculate the potential increase in

The Main Cause Of Gun Violence In The United States
Gun Violence
Gun violence is a very serious and complex issue. This issue has been taking place for many years all
over the United States. Gun violence has no real prevention and no simple way of being stopped.
Every single day more than one person s life is taken by a gun. Some of these deaths are caused by
senseless acts of violence while others occur by accident. Gun violence is one of the main causes of
death in America, some say guns are used for protection but others use guns for their own negative
agenda.
In America there is over 300 million guns throughout the country. Many of the people who own one of
those guns do not have a license. In another perspective guns are used for jobs therefore they are
registered and have a license.

Government Assistance For Needy Families
In life things do not always go as planned, we run into some rough patches. For example, one can
suddenly get fired from their job but that does not stop the bills from rolling in especially when there
is a family to take care of, in situations like this financial help can really be useful. Welfare programs
like the temporary assistance for needy families purpose is give money to a group of parents and
dependent children living together in a household. Another way that the government has been helping
is by offering food stamps, food stamps provide a monthly wage to help keep the family in need feed.
Unfortunately many will be cut off from food stamp in 2016 because the waivers have expired, as
many as a million people will no longer receive it. There are those that believe government assistance
is making a mistake with these welfare programs. After doing some research, their reason for feeling
this way is because they think that it is making people in these programs more dependent saying they
will no longer wish to work because they won t receive the profits gained from the governments help
anymore. Even though there are some that take advantage of the help they receive, helping the less
fortunate is priority number one. Most forms of government welfare should not be abolished because
it offers assistance for those in need.
Life can get tough, especially when there s children involved. Without welfare, the standard level of
crimes will increase. There are many

The Rite of Spring Essay
When one thinks of a ballet they hear soft rhythmic notes and see elegantly dancing ballerinas softly
tip toeing around the stage. This is also what people in early 1900 s expected to see when they planned
to attend a ballet. However, a couple of motivated artists in 1913 literally planned to change the design
of ballet, music and dance forever. On May 29, 1913 a ballet named The Rite of Spring premiered in
Paris, France. The original title as it translates from Russian to French is; Le Sacre du Printemps,
meaning the rite of spring, but the literal translation from Russian to English means Sacred Spring .
The ballet and music were composed by Igor Stravinsky, with the help of Nicholas Roerich, who

Unlike traditional ballet The Rite of Spring featured sharply bent arms and legs that focused on
barbarian depictions of life rather than the elegant, graceful representations used in conventional
ballet. The violent dance steps depicted fertility rites, which is what provoked the earliest interruptions
during the ballet. While Nijinsky was creating the dance for the ballet, Roerich was creating the
setting and costumes to accurately portray this sacrificial rite. The use of such primitive pagan images
were something that the people were not accustomed to. It was a topic that the world was not yet
ready to deal with. But the visuals of the ballet were not the only historic part; the music had an even
greater impact. The music was composed by Igor Stravinsky, who considered himself an inventor of
music. He was also known for many controversial works reminiscent of Nijinsky. He created many
works that blasted the whole realm of music into other possibilities, in which it would never return
from. He started his career writing music for other ballets like Firebird and Petrouchka, which were
grand and familiar like traditional ballet, but had a small hint of a more modern tone. It was not until
The Rite of Spring that Stravinsky s work was truly inspirational. This work tested the future of the
20th century classical music, and in many ways it paved the path to a modernized view. There are still

The Silance Of Music In Alfred Hitchcock s Vrtigo
Vertigo is a 1958 film directed by Alfred Hitchcock, starring James Stewart, Kim Novak, and Barbara
Bel Geddes. The film follows the acrophobic, retired San Francisco detective, John Scottie Ferguson
(Stewart) who is hired to trail his friend s wife, Madeleine (Novak), but falls in love with her in the
process. When Madeleine dies in what is deemed a suicide, John becomes depressed and begins to
obsess over Judy (Novak), who looks exactly like the Madeleine he knew. After changing Judy s
appearance to be a doppelganger of Madeleine, John comes to find out that he had actually fallen in
love with Judy pretending to be Madeleine, because she was part of a plot to murder the real
Madeleine. One aspect of the film that is interesting is the way the balance of music and dialogue add
to the suspense of the story. As stated in James Berardinelli s review of Vertigo, There are numerous,
lengthy passages that pass without dialogue (most of these occur while John is trailing Madeleine),
and Herrmann s music sustains Hitchcock s carefully crafted tone. As well as to create these
interesting scenes that rely almost entirely on visuals to tell the story, the music has an important role
of building the feeling of suspense, complete with the typical thriller crescendos used to foreshadow a
big event. This film has many technical aspects that help it stand apart from others and the musical
choices made are a clear example of this. Another aspect of this film that is fantastic is the

Summary Of Drifters By Bruce Dawe
Power is a complex multifaceted notion and people can experience or wield it in different ways. It can
have negative connotations, especially when it is abused. People of course can also experience a sense
of powerlessness for a variety of reasons. The poem Drifters by Bruce Dawe explores the helplessness
of a family who are forced to move from place to place in search of work. This causes great distress
and angst among the family. A sense of powerlessness of course can come in many forms and in the
poem Mid Term Break by Seamus Heaney we witness the extraordinary grief and anguish of a family
who are mourning the death of a son and brother. The film The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, directed
by Mark Herman, explores the sense of powerlessness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Jesus died so that heterosexual and homosexual sinners might be saved. Jesus created sexuality, and
has a clear will for how it is to be experienced in holiness and joy.
His will is that a man might leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife, and that the two

The new thing new for America, and new for history is not homosexuality. That brokenness has been
here since we were all broken in the fall of man. (And there is a great distinction between the
orientation and the act just like there is a great difference between my orientation to pride and the act
of boasting.)
What s new is not even the celebration and approval of homosexual sin. Homosexual behavior has
been exploited, and reveled in, and celebrated in art, for millennia. What s new is normalization and
institutionalization. This is the new calamity.
My main reason for writing is not to mount a political counter assault. I don t think that is the calling

the magnitude of the assault on God and his image in man.

Sound In Unforgiven
Power and sound. Those are the two aspects of this film that stuck out to me while I was watching
Unforgiven. Clint Eastwood did a very good job of producing this movie. I saw power in the Sheriff
while he was attacking Bill. I saw great use of sound while Ned was getting whipped, and also the
music towards the end. Clint Eastwood did a great job showing the Sheriff s power. He did this several
times throughout the movie. However, one time I really noticed it, was when he was attacking Bill.
The Sheriff was at the top of the screen and Bill was at the bottom, looking up at the Sheriff. Then Bill
goes on to crawl through the bar and outside. This shows that in this situation, the Sheriff is more
powerful than Bill. The director made this shot so that the Sheriff would seem stronger and would
make Bill look small and weak. This is important to Bill s character because Bill could have tried to
fight back. He did not because Bill knows when to pick fights, and when to pass. It also shows that he
is able to keep cool even though the Sheriff was making fun of him. Granted, he was sick, but I think
he could have fought back if he wanted too. This type of power can also ... Show more content on

I saw two ways that sound was used very effectively. One was when Ned was getting whipped, and
another was the music at the end. In the scene where Ned was getting whipped, the camera turns away

Ned getting whipped and him crying out in agony. Even though you can t see Ned, we still know what

judgment among a crowd is so overwhelming that people with this disorder try their best to avoid the
situation. For people with this disorder, extreme measures to avoid these uncomfortable situations
seem more fortunate than facing the fear itself. According to The Nemours Foundation, we can
assume that what causes social phobia is partly due to our genetic makeup along with other aspects.
Social phobia disorder is the least known of all anxiety disorders. Social phobia disorder, also called
social anxiety disorder, is known to appear in people who fear observation in public situations
(HealthGuide.org). People with this disorder fear other s judgment of their own actions during social
occasions. People with this disorder tend to appear self conscious in uncomfortable situations and
show familiar symptoms of anxiety. According to Amanda MacMillan s article, some symptoms of

The Person Who Taught Me How To Read
I ve been reading as long as I can remember. The person who taught me how to read was my mother, I
remember her making sure I knew how to read and write my name before I started preschool. After
that point, I would read anything I could get my hands on that was my level. I also wrote, but not as
much as I read. Magazines, the backs of cereal boxes, even the little books my mom would buy me. I
remember my mom telling me stop writing in your books, you ll ruin them, after that, I made sure to
keep a pencil and paper with me in case I felt like I wanted to write.
In addition to reading and writing in my books, I would sit with my sister after she had checked out
her books from the library at the school she attended. I d wait until she finished, and then get her
books and read as much as I could. The books she had checked that I had been really fond of would
have to be the Clifford the Big Red Dog and Junie B Jones series. She didn t really like to read so she
would get small books and let me read them. After I had read her books, I would read other things
around the house,I also liked to read the Sunday comics. It was around that time I discovered how
much I liked to read. I read so much that by the time I had reached second or third grade, I didn t have
a reading level. I would just go into the library and get any book I wanted.
Although I loved small books, I would try to check out the largest books I could find because they had
the most AR points. I would try to pick

WHAT IS DUALISM?
PURPOSE
By the end of the speech, the audience will be able to describe the differences between the dualistic
and the monolithic belief; besides, they will be capable of defining the concept of dualism in the
philosophical area and classify the different types of dualism.
INTRODUCTION
The spirit is the cause of all our thoughts and body action, and everything, but it is untouched by good
or evil, pleasure or pain, heat of cold, and all the dualism of nature, although it lends its light to
everything.

Your Honor Ladies And Gentlemen Of The Jury Summary
Your Honor, Ladies, and Gentlemen of the jury: This is a case between the US vs Jones. On October
24th, 2005, the defendant, Antoine Jones, was charged with the crime of drug possession after coming
under the suspicion of trafficking in narcotics. The Police Department obtained a warrant valid for 10
days that authorizes the installation of a tracking device on Jones s car in District of Columbia.
However, the police installed the tracking device on the 11th day out of the jurisdiction of District of
Columbia and therefore violating the warrant s term. After nearly a month of investigating, Jones led
the police to what seemed like a stash house containing $856k in cash and 97 kilos of cocaine. With

Cultural Versions Of Cinderella
The adaptation of the different cultural versions of Cinderella has blossomed over the many years
since this story was first told. From the Charles Perrault s version to Jakob Wilhelm Grimm, and
Campbell Grants version for Disney and everything in between the authors write about a beautiful and
kind girl that is treated very poorly by her evil step mother and step sisters. With magic on her side,
she always comes out on top, to get the prince. In Charles Perrault s version, Cinderella is treated as a
maid and has to scour the dishes, tables, etc., and to scrub the floors and clean out the bedrooms , and
was called Cinderwench . The prince was having a ball and had invited all the richly dressed. After

step mother told her was unable to attend. Cinderella ran to her mother s grave where she cried. There

The Cast And Their Performance Can Change Viewers...
The cast and their performance can change viewers experience and judgement of a film. It takes looks
and strong acting from the cast to bring characters to life, but this film made changes where
actor/actresses either enhance the film or not.
Norman Bates appearance of Psycho by Robert Bloch is vastly different from the film Psycho directed
by Alfred Hitchcock. The book provides descriptions of Norman physical attributes such as, the fat,
bespectacled face and heard the soft, hesitant voice (p.3) and he had lived in this house for all of the
forty years of his life (p.1), illustrating that Norman is a forty year old obese person. In the film,
Norman Bates played by Anthony Perkins who is in his twenties. The first glance at Perkins portrayal
as Norman, the viewers can tell that Norman s age is in the twenties. He appears as a tall man with a
clean cut look and no facial hair. Watching the film; Norman Bates affects audience s interpretation
because the viewers expect to see Norman as overweight person like in the book yet the viewers get
Perkins depiction instead. As viewers, this change brings mix feelings which did not enhance the
experience early on.
There was a minor change in the psychological trait of Norman Bates. The novel illustrates three split
personalities of Norman Bates where the film focuses on two split personalities. In the novel, Norman
is divided into three minds. Firstly, Norman Bates as a child that is obedient and is inseparable from

Each year the number of leasing agreements continues to grow. There are several advantages of
leasing property instead of owning. The company is protected against obsolescence and can receive
100% financing with less cost, fixed payments, and more flexibility (Schroeder, Clark, amp; Cathey,

The biggest notable difference is the handling of each on the financial statements. An operating lease
is similar to a rental agreement so there is no long term liability on the balance sheet. It allows the
lessee to engage in off balance sheet financing. This provides several benefits for the company to
maintain a good financial position. When a company enters a capital lease the asset is reported on the
balance sheet. This results in the debt to total equity increasing and the rate of return on total assets to
decrease. The ratios can negatively affect financing opportunities, the corporate bond covenants, and
management compensation incentives (Schroeder, Clark, amp; Cathey, 2011). In addition, the
depreciation required on the asset in a capital lease will result in a deferred tax. The funds from
operations on the cash flow statement will be higher by the deferred tax when a capital lease is used
(Ingberman, Ronen, amp; Sorter, 1979). The cash from the operations section on the cash flow must
be reconciled to remove noncash items during the period (Kieso, Weygandt, amp; Warfield, 2007).
The company will receive benefits from both types of leases; the right option for the company will
depend on their needs and strategy.
Recommendation
The recommendation for XYZ Trucking Inc. is to sign a short term operating lease with a renewal
option. The uncertainty by XYZ

The service that I am going to discuss throughout the 7 P s of marketing will be the service of massage

advantage for the disabled and depressed patients in a nursing home setting.
The development of my PRODUCT a massage service at the home health level, has already been
determined to be a product that gives great patient satisfaction and relief of pain. It is this patient
satisfaction and relief of pin, which will further our existence in the home health market. Our

The laundry items can possibly be supplied by a local vendor that provides linen services. This will
eliminate the need to keep laundry inventory on hand, and the need to have a way to clean it. In order
to provide the delivery of service we will make sure that we have enough licensed massage therapists
on staff, and have an active contract with a temporary agency that can provide us licensed massage
therapists at a moment notice. We will keep an inventory of portable tables, table paper, and lotion at
our main office, and will increase the inventory as the demand arises. The PROMOTION we will run
to promote our massage therapy treatment is to offer the first two treatments for free in conjunction
with their normal home health services. We will advertise the promotion in our brochure, local
newspaper, and on our website. We may make demonstration appointments to show physician groups,
local hospitals what types of benefits will receive by getting our massage therapies as part of their
home health care. The primary benefits we will promote about our massage benefits will be focused
on the disabled and depressed population. We will actually have patient testimonies from patients
posted on our brochure for those patients that have already experienced out massage therapy
treatment. Next to the testimonies we will have an elderly disabled patient rise from the massage table

without consequences. This practice is corrupt and police officers who act in these ways should be
reprimanded and potentially fired for these actions. Some officers go beyond the law in ways they
should be incarcerated as well. America s governmental practice of excluding these police officers is
only promoting these behaviors, and a stop should be put to them. By implementing stricter
consequences, officers would be more conscious in their actions but now, it affects them as well.
Another strong bias displayed in the judicial system is the obvious bias in criminal sentencing in the
court. Many studies support the conclusion that people of color are sentenced longer in prison for the
same crime as a white person (McElrath, Tran, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problem usually with wrongful convictions is impulsivity. The fact that the person on trial is a
person of color drastically improves the chances of being convicted without going through all motives
of an investigation, which obviously are given to white people because of their lower chance of
getting convicted wrongly. This is a prominent bias, that a person of color is always guilty of their
crime. These findings show that people of color and white people are not being treated the same in the
eyes of the law. How is it possible to feel safe with all of these findings stacked up against you? It just
isn t feasible. Kenneth Rouse still remains on death row to this day.
Some possible solutions to this is simply more diversity in the judicial bench. America needs to have a
criminal justice system that represents the diversity of America. When people think of America, they
think of the many faces that occupy our country. Unfortunately, this is only embraced by some. It is
impossible for someone to completely understand all circumstances of someone s situation without
first experiencing similar or the same realities. A white person simply does not know what it is like to
be a black person in society. This goes along with the concept of privilege, something everyone has in
different amounts, and something in which few people will acknowledge. This goes along with
gender, and sexuality. A center for American

Prospero And Ariel
Prospero is a man with high social standing and power, which he uses to manipulate situations into his
favor. He is the Duke of Milan and has a spirit Ariel in his power. Ariel is forced to remain with him
until the tasks he requires are complete. This accounts for Ariel s present servitude to Prospero,
confirmed in the spirit s first utterance, All hail, great master! (1.2.189). Ariel begins to come to the
end of his expected time trapped as a servant. He begins to become very excited at the thought of his
future freedom, dreaming about his days away from his enslavement. This feeling is seen when he
says: Where the bee sucks, there suck I/In a cowslip s bell I lie./There I couch when owls do cry./On
the bat s back I do fly/After summer merrily./Merrily, merrily shall I live now/Under the blossom that
hangs on the bow. (5.1.99,104). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He thinks about how their relationship is more than master and servant and says Before you can say
Come and Go /And breathe twice and cry So, so ,/Each one, tripping on his toe,/Will be here with mop

if he thinks of him as more than just a servant. Once he has done all the tasks he says to Prospero, Sir,
all this service/Have I done since I went. (5.1.27 1,272). He then says, Was t well done? (5.1.291).

Gun Control And Mass Shootings
Gun Control In the course of history gun control and mass shootings has always been an issue, but
much too often, history has been being made. Gun control is an understatement for what actually is
being implemented. The process to get a gun, for example, a rifle, is all too easy. Let me personally
walk you through this gruesome process . First, you walk into the store, second you pick your desired
weapon, third you walk to the cashier to do a background check, finally you buy the gun. The hardest
part about that process was choosing the actual weapon you want. With little gun control comes more
mass shootings, and with more control comes less mass shootings. Obtaining a gun is much too easy,
and needs to become more strict, or even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another common saying by those who believe taking away weapons is a bad thing is, taking away
guns will cause more criminal activity. Every armed robbery taken place the victim has 91% of the
time was wielding a single type of weapon, for example a gun.
As I sit here researching the topic on mass shootings and deaths in the U.S. a breaking news article
popped up on my screen. In Texas today, November 5, 2017, 27 people were killed and 30 were
injured. I would normally be in shock how someone can do such a thing to innocent moms, dads, kids,
teens, and infants. But with the world we are living in now there are no surprises to me anymore with
the recurring gun violence. It s as if there is a contest to gain entry to the top mass shootings in U.S.
history because this one in Texas has made it in. Exactly a month ago the Las Vegas shooting was
taken place becoming the deadliest shooting ever recorded in U.S. history and this now being 4th in
that list. Being the greatest country in the world I would think someone would have the common sense
to realize guns are the issue not the people wielding them.
Previously stated above among the 52,000 shooting incidents this year only about 1,700 was reported
for defensive use, leaving the rest assumed to be in acts of violence. The number of deaths recorded
this year for our U.S. soldiers reaches 6,903, while American citizens reach 13,136 with gun violence.
With these facts being put on paper it

The Stock Market
In 2001, it struck everybody as odd when a blue chip stock went bankrupt less than a year after it paid
its top 5 executives a total of $282.7 million. The stock market is notorious for being seductively
tricky; being the sole contributor to the making and breaking of many men. However, this time it was
clear that this wasn t an ordinary unexpected decline. Enron Corporation, a former American energy
company, had to have had something going on behind the scenes to cause the largest chapter 11
bankruptcy of its time. As the house of cards collapsed, it became clear that investors were blindsided
by one of the largest instances of pump and dump stock fraud the market had ever seen. While it may
be an enigma to many, the stock market does have some simple ground rules that hold true almost all
the time, no matter what stock one plans on investing in. The backbone of the stock market is
generally coined buy low, sell high. This term is short and sweet, but it encompasses all that is
required to make money in the stock market. To make money, all somebody has to do is buy shares of
a stock when the price is low and undervalued, and then sell those shares when the price goes up.
Ignoring brokerage fees and federal taxes, this is essentially all one has to do to make a profit; rinse
and repeat. This same rule works in reverse if someone is trying to avoid losing money on an
investment. If shares of an overvalued stock are owned and the price is expected to decline, one would

  • 2. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Gm Soybeans GM Soybeans Soybeans are beans which are from the legume family which are native to East Asia. They can grow on a variety of soils and wide range of climates, ranging from snowy to tropical climates (Rob). Soybeans are used to make food such as tofu and soymilk, although it is most often processed into oil, which can be used for cooking, or sold for biodiesel production. The left over which are not used for oil can be used for animal food due to the high protein fiber which is in the left over. The GM Soybean, also called Roundup Ready (RR) Soybean, was developed by the biotech company Monsanto and was commercially available to farmers in 1996 (Editor, 2008). This GM soybean contains a gene that makes it resistant to herbicides which would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, superweeds are created, which are resistant to that specific herbicide. To then kill the superweeds, a different kind of herbicide has to be used, which additionally harms the environment. Due to this, many amounts of herbicides have to be used. In addition to the GM superweed being bad for the environment, it is also bad for the economy as poor farmers can t afford the GM soybeans. Without the GM soybean, the conventional soybeans do not possess the genes which make them resist herbicides and harsher weather. This will result in a smaller amount of soybeans to sell, which will then make the farmers without the rights to use GM soybeans have less income. As a result, the farmers without the GM soybean are unable to make the soybeans cheaper as they would then not make any profit. Although the GM soybean is mainly bad for the economy, it is also good as some farmers profit from this. The GM seeds allow the farmers to have more harvest as fewer soybeans will die due to weather, other plants or insects. As a result, these farmers will be able to sell the soybeans at a cheaper price, making more profit, as there is a greater quantity of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Abolishment Of Slavery I am well educated on slavery and the abolishment of it. I believe the abolishment of slavery movement in the United States valued personal freedom and that all men are created equal. I also believe that the movement grew more forceful leading slave owners to become stimulated which led to the American Civil War. One of the main reasons that slavery should be abolished is because of the people who own slaves and how they treat them inhumanly. All humans are equal. When we use another individual as a slave, it hurts humanity, more importantly, hurts the person who s serving as the slave. The slave who didn t want to become the slave in the first place could have potentially became someone important in the world. When we keep someone in captivity, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Progressive Education Essay John Keating, a student at Welton Academy inspired his fellow classmates, to meet in caves and read challenging poetry of the past, not with flashcards, but with these words, Now, my class, you will learn to think for yourselves again. You will learn to savor words and language. No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world. Typically, students do not hear enough of this type of passion in a traditional classroom. However, a progressive classroom, be it a cave or college can inspire students to memorize facts, not because they have to, but rather because they want to for the betterment of humanity. Society desperately needs students educated in a progressive style because America needs students who realize ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Educational philosopher, Marie Montessori was a strong advocate for such learning, particularly for children under age three who have a strong interest in learning through the use of movement and verbal play (So what s Montessori and Piaget?). John Dewey, another educational philosopher believed Education is a social process. Education is growth. Education is, not a preparation for life; education is life itself. (Inc.) He felt that learning took place only when students had internalized what they had gained through experience and practiced it in their own lives. In a progressive classroom, the teacher designs experiences for students with the idea that through experience, students build knowledge and skills. A society of individuals conforming to studying flashcards may be good, but a society of literate individuals consciously aware of why and how the facts on the flashcards and in mass media can solve new problems is better. A progressive classroom looks different, and a progressive teacher inspires unique thinking in individual students differently, as well. Instead of being strict with a set curriculum and specific subject to cover, teachers find their students present interests, abilities, and needs. • 6. The Banking Concept Of Education In the excerpt from The Banking Concept of Education the author, Paulo Freire explains the critical flaw in the current education system. He continues by offering his believed solution to this problem. The two concepts Freire discusses in this excerpt are the banking concept of education and the problem posing method of education. The banking concept is talked about rather negatively, whereas the problem posing method is talked about highly. Freire believes in the problem posing method and that students should have free will to a certain extent in the classroom with less authoritative power from the teacher during discussions. This flawed concept in education today is the oppressive depositing of information (banking education) by teachers to students. Banking education (for obvious reasons) attempts, by mythicizing reality, to conceal certain facts which explain the way people exist in the world... (p.224) The banking concept is an act that hinders the intellectual growth of students by turning them into receptors and collectors of information that have no true connection to their lives. The banking concept is essentially turning humans into objects. Banking education inhibits creativity and domesticates (although it cannot completely destroy) the intentionality of consciousness by isolating consciousness from the world, thereby denying people their ontological and historical vocation of becoming more fully human. • 7. Robert Frost Poetry Analysis This poem was written by Robert Frost in 1923, in New Hampshire. He wrote it for political reasons because he was mourning the end of the world. It does not appear as it was origianally written. It was not part of a series or collection. It also does not belong to any particular movement. This poem was not written about any person or national hero. It is not a lyric, or a haiku. It is, however, a conffesional poem, as it speaks of his opinion of the polotics of that time. Yes, because, the title is obvious as it describes the main topic of the poem. No, there is really only one set meaning to the poem. There is no balance, as it mainly talks about the end of the world. There is really no obvious opposite in this poem. Yes, it mentions the garden of Eden in the poem. The only repitition in the poem, that I could find, was when he mentioned leaves dieing. This poem suggests the passing of day and the change of the seasons in this poem. The passage of day is obvious, with no gaps in between The name Eden has value because Eden was a garden of holy perfection, So Eden sank to grief means that the world ends. Yes, at first glance this poem appears to be about nature and the seasons, but if you take into consideration that he was unhappy with the politics at the time, things begin to make more sense. Yes, because this poem shows that, at this point in time, the people where unhappy with the politics, and concerned about the current war Yes, although, at first glance, this poem ... • 9. The Chemistry Of Fluid Dynamics Essay While there is certainly much left to be explained and understood in the field of fluid dynamics, there is still a certain level of common sense that one has concerning what one would consider to be ordinary fluids, such as water. It makes sense that such fluids, say, take the shape of their containers, or tend to flow down an inclined plane, or proceed with the same mass flow rate given that the fluid does not build up along the flow channel. Likewise, with solids, there are certain, seemingly common sense properties, such as a certain level of resistance to deformation and a certain amount of elasticity. However, there are some materials which are effectively in an in between state which exhibit properties of both viscous liquids and elastic solids, known as viscoelastic fluids. This edition of elastic properties to what would otherwise be well characterized as viscous fluids poses novel scientific questions from the scale of the nanoparticles contained within the viscoelastic fluid up to considerations of viscoelastic fluids stretching across space. Regarding the latter, M. S. Janaki, N. Chakrabarti, and D. Banerjee have investigated how viscoelasticity changes the behavior of a self gravitating fluid in space with a particular focus on the Jeans instability, or the mechanism by which internal pressures can no longer counter balance the self gravitational force of such fluids, prompting a collapse []. Since more typical stellar media and cases in which electrostatics ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Multicultural Theories In Social Work Studying of human behavior has never been easier, and as the population increases, their actions become complicated. As a result, social worker as a professional has different theories that guide them in the process of assessing, evaluating and intervening at various levels in the society (Jayapalan, 2014). In fact, most of these theories usually focus on the study of aspects that make humans different, and an example of the focus include human growth and their development, psychological aspect, social functioning as well as service delivery. However, some theories just highlight social and economic equality. Also, almost all of the theories in social work practice are usually come out of social and historical context, and there should, therefore, be critiqued because of their multicultural applicability. With the aim of understanding persons and their environment, as well as the processes of assessment, intervention, and evaluation, system theory perspective used. System theory includes ecological systems, and it typically focuses on how different individuals interact with others in their environment (Turner, 2014). In fact, social workers use this theory in understanding different individuals while in their constant transaction within their environment. For example, system theory suggests that different systems and subsystems in the societies are interrelated parts. Also, the other common concept of system theory states that each subsystem affects several other areas of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Demographic Transition From Rural to Urban Areas From 2000 until 2030 the urbanized areas will be nearly tripled1 because of the demographic transition from rural to urban. The use of dark building materials, such as asphalt and concrete, leads to a lower albedo in urbanized areas than in natural environment2, fostering local and global warming. In turn, the increase in urban albedo might support climate stabilization efforts3. Here, we investigate the potential effect of the increase in albedo in a representative set of European cities relying on instantaneous radiative forcing (IRF), urban cooling and the consequent effect on mortality, ozone formation and energy use. Apart from any geographical distinction, cities show that the increases in albedo in compact cities have a cooling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, we use the effect of the local variation in temperature on the heating and cooling degree days (HDD) (CDD) as a proxy for the effect on energy use and on the related greenhouse gas emissions. Although these indicators are not representative of all t, they cover the most important ones. We calculate the potential effect of the local unitary increase in albedo on IRF responsiveness (R) for a sample of 145 cities and urbanized areas in three geographical areas: southern; central; and northern Europe (see Methods). Low cloudiness and high solar radiation make R in southern European cities two times higher than in other regions (see SI Table 1). The mean R in northern European cities is slightly higher than in central European cities with values of 46 and 45 Wm 2 respectively (Fig. 1) since cloudiness is lower in northern Europe. This result shows that climatological features would potentially make southern cities more effective that central and northern European ones in counteracting climate change. Apart from any geographical and climatological distinction, the peculiar size and the morphological characterization of each city may play a role in affecting IRF. We calculate the potential increase in average ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some of these deaths are caused by senseless acts of violence while others occur by accident. Gun violence is one of the main causes of death in America, some say guns are used for protection but others use guns for their own negative agenda. For example, one can suddenly get fired from their job but that does not stop the bills from rolling in especially when there is a family to take care of, in situations like this financial help can really be useful. Welfare programs like the temporary assistance for needy families purpose is give money to a group of parents and dependent children living together in a household. Another way that the government has been helping is by offering food stamps, food stamps provide a monthly wage to help keep the family in need feed. Unfortunately many will be cut off from food stamp in 2016 because the waivers have expired, as many as a million people will no longer receive it. There are those that believe government assistance is making a mistake with these welfare programs. After doing some research, their reason for feeling this way is because they think that it is making people in these programs more dependent saying they will no longer wish to work because they won t receive the profits gained from the governments help anymore. Even though there are some that take advantage of the help they receive, helping the less fortunate is priority number one. Most forms of government welfare should not be abolished because it offers assistance for those in need. Life can get tough, especially when there s children involved. Without welfare, the standard level of crimes will increase. There are many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. The Rite of Spring Essay When one thinks of a ballet they hear soft rhythmic notes and see elegantly dancing ballerinas softly tip toeing around the stage. This is also what people in early 1900 s expected to see when they planned to attend a ballet. However, a couple of motivated artists in 1913 literally planned to change the design of ballet, music and dance forever. On May 29, 1913 a ballet named The Rite of Spring premiered in Paris, France. The original title as it translates from Russian to French is; Le Sacre du Printemps, meaning the rite of spring, but the literal translation from Russian to English means Sacred Spring . Unlike traditional ballet The Rite of Spring featured sharply bent arms and legs that focused on barbarian depictions of life rather than the elegant, graceful representations used in conventional ballet. The violent dance steps depicted fertility rites, which is what provoked the earliest interruptions during the ballet. While Nijinsky was creating the dance for the ballet, Roerich was creating the setting and costumes to accurately portray this sacrificial rite. The use of such primitive pagan images were something that the people were not accustomed to. It was a topic that the world was not yet ready to deal with. But the visuals of the ballet were not the only historic part; the music had an even greater impact. The music was composed by Igor Stravinsky, who considered himself an inventor of music. He was also known for many controversial works reminiscent of Nijinsky. He created many works that blasted the whole realm of music into other possibilities, in which it would never return from. He started his career writing music for other ballets like Firebird and Petrouchka, which were grand and familiar like traditional ballet, but had a small hint of a more modern tone. It was not until The Rite of Spring that Stravinsky s work was truly inspirational. This work tested the future of the 20th century classical music, and in many ways it paved the path to a modernized view. There are still many who do not understand how he ... • 15. The Silance Of Music In Alfred Hitchcock s Vrtigo Vertigo is a 1958 film directed by Alfred Hitchcock, starring James Stewart, Kim Novak, and Barbara Bel Geddes. The film follows the acrophobic, retired San Francisco detective, John Scottie Ferguson (Stewart) who is hired to trail his friend s wife, Madeleine (Novak), but falls in love with her in the process. When Madeleine dies in what is deemed a suicide, John becomes depressed and begins to obsess over Judy (Novak), who looks exactly like the Madeleine he knew. After changing Judy s appearance to be a doppelganger of Madeleine, John comes to find out that he had actually fallen in love with Judy pretending to be Madeleine, because she was part of a plot to murder the real Madeleine. One aspect of the film that is interesting is the way the balance of music and dialogue add to the suspense of the story. As stated in James Berardinelli s review of Vertigo, There are numerous, lengthy passages that pass without dialogue (most of these occur while John is trailing Madeleine), and Herrmann s music sustains Hitchcock s carefully crafted tone. As well as to create these interesting scenes that rely almost entirely on visuals to tell the story, the music has an important role of building the feeling of suspense, complete with the typical thriller crescendos used to foreshadow a big event. This film has many technical aspects that help it stand apart from others and the musical choices made are a clear example of this. Another aspect of this film that is fantastic is the ... It can have negative connotations, especially when it is abused. People of course can also experience a sense of powerlessness for a variety of reasons. The poem Drifters by Bruce Dawe explores the helplessness of a family who are forced to move from place to place in search of work. This causes great distress and angst among the family. A sense of powerlessness of course can come in many forms and in the poem Mid Term Break by Seamus Heaney we witness the extraordinary grief and anguish of a family who are mourning the death of a son and brother. Clint Eastwood did a great job showing the Sheriff s power. He did this several times throughout the movie. However, one time I really noticed it, was when he was attacking Bill. The Sheriff was at the top of the screen and Bill was at the bottom, looking up at the Sheriff. Then Bill goes on to crawl through the bar and outside. This shows that in this situation, the Sheriff is more powerful than Bill. The director made this shot so that the Sheriff would seem stronger and would make Bill look small and weak. This is important to Bill s character because Bill could have tried to fight back. He did not because Bill knows when to pick fights, and when to pass. It also shows that he is able to keep cool even though the Sheriff was making fun of him. Granted, he was sick, but I think he could have fought back if he wanted too. This type of power can also ... The fear of embarrassment or judgment among a crowd is so overwhelming that people with this disorder try their best to avoid the situation. For people with this disorder, extreme measures to avoid these uncomfortable situations seem more fortunate than facing the fear itself. As I sit here researching the topic on mass shootings and deaths in the U.S. a breaking news article popped up on my screen. In Texas today, November 5, 2017, 27 people were killed and 30 were injured. I would normally be in shock how someone can do such a thing to innocent moms, dads, kids, teens, and infants. But with the world we are living in now there are no surprises to me anymore with the recurring gun violence. It s as if there is a contest to gain entry to the top mass shootings in U.S. history because this one in Texas has made it in. Exactly a month ago the Las Vegas shooting was taken place becoming the deadliest shooting ever recorded in U.S. history and this now being 4th in that list. Being the greatest country in the world I would think someone would have the common sense to realize guns are the issue not the people wielding them. Previously stated above among the 52,000 shooting incidents this year only about 1,700 was reported for defensive use, leaving the rest assumed to be in acts of violence. The number of deaths recorded this year for our U.S. soldiers reaches 6,903, while American citizens reach 13,136 with gun violence. With these facts being put on paper it ... • 36. The Stock Market In 2001, it struck everybody as odd when a blue chip stock went bankrupt less than a year after it paid its top 5 executives a total of $282.7 million. The stock market is notorious for being seductively tricky; being the sole contributor to the making and breaking of many men. However, this time it was clear that this wasn t an ordinary unexpected decline. Enron Corporation, a former American energy company, had to have had something going on behind the scenes to cause the largest chapter 11 bankruptcy of its time. As the house of cards collapsed, it became clear that investors were blindsided by one of the largest instances of pump and dump stock fraud the market had ever seen. While it may be an enigma to many, the stock market does have some simple ground rules that hold true almost all the time, no matter what stock one plans on investing in. The backbone of the stock market is generally coined buy low, sell high. This term is short and sweet, but it encompasses all that is required to make money in the stock market. To make money, all somebody has to do is buy shares of a stock when the price is low and undervalued, and then sell those shares when the price goes up. Ignoring brokerage fees and federal taxes, this is essentially all one has to do to make a profit; rinse and repeat. This same rule works in reverse if someone is trying to avoid losing money on an investment. If shares of an overvalued stock are owned and the price is expected to decline, one would ...
