The Middle East And Northern Africa Essay
The Middle East and Northern Africa (MENA)
My initial impressions of the Middle East and Northern Africa are they are desolate, poor, and
primarily Muslim. Although I know there is an infrastructure in the cities that is not how I viewed the
overall majority of these two countries. The terms political unrest and upheaval, also come to mind.
When all you see on the news are war torn areas in these countries, the view you come out with is
skewed by what the media introduces you to. Many thoughts also run through ones head when you
ponder what to expect when you approach these countries about business opportunities. I do not
believe I am ethnocentric when it comes to other countries and their culture, albeit I have a perception
which is stifled and constricted by those skewed views in which we are shown. I also feel there is only
two classes, the haves and have nots, if you will. The haves living in the cities with an infrastructure,
and the have nots living in shacks without any of modern day conveniences.
Although my impressions were uninformed, the information you provided in the video confirmed
what I believed as well as gave me additional insight into those countries with which I was unfamiliar.
In the video you reviewed two specific cities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Egypt Dubai and
Cairo. These two cities are vastly different from each other, however, I originally viewed them to be
similar in several areas like terrain, language, and religion. The

The Functions Of Financial Institutions Within A Financial...
Discuss the functions of financial institutions within a financial system and give examples of financial
services and products that are traded by these institutions.
A financial institution is something that has been established that contains financial trades for example
investments, getting a loan or putting a deposit (ABP, 2001). Financial institutions get dealt with on
day to day so almost everyone deals with it. Majority of the depositing, borrowing money, exchanging
money contains and must be done through financial institutions.
The functions in financial system contains:
Investment Banks
Commercial banks
Insurance Companies
Investments companies
One of the functions of the financial institutions is Commercial Banks. Commercial banks will accept
deposits and provide very good security and make it suitable for their customers. This is just a normal
role for the bank to give their customers money safe so that their customers don t have to physically
keep their belonging in their home or on them (APB, 2001). With having commercial banks there is no
need to keep large amount of money in hand because the banks can handle it such as online banking,
checks, debit card or credit card.
Another one is insurance companies, insurance companies protect themselves or their properties such
as your phone, your vehicle or your house anything that you feel should be insured. Insurance use
statistical analysis to protect what has been covered by the company, insurance

Company Background Of The Company
KPMG Company Background
In 2012 the firm purchased the ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Managed Services business of Thomson
Reuters to further enhance its indirect tax compliance services. It made two acquisitions in 2011, as
well. KPMG L.L.P. bought Optimum Solutions, which provides management consulting and
implementation services to companies that use Oracle enterprise software. The move has enabled it to
serve clients with ERP and HR transformation needs. To boost capacity, the company and its UK
affiliate teamed up in 2011 to buy outsourcing advisory firm EquaTerra, adding another revenue
stream. The acquisition follows KPMG L.L.P. s 2010 purchase of the supply chain advisory services
unit of second tier accountancy Grant Thornton.
KPMG has been able to rebound from some past legal troubles. The drawn out drama began in 2005
when the firm admitted to unlawful conduct in an investigation by the Department of Justice. Former
partners of the firm created abusive tax shelters for more than 600 wealthy customers between 1996
and 2002; the unpaid taxes cost the Treasury more than $100 million. KPMG avoided criminal
prosecution by agreeing to pay $456 million in fines, restitution, and penalties. (A criminal indictment
led to the collapse of KPMG s former rival Arthur Andersen.) A federal jury found three ex KPMG
employees guilty in the tax shelter trial in 2008 (a fourth defendant was acquitted). Those former
managers were ordered to pay nearly $10 million in fines and received

Essay On Casio
Tadao Kashio established his own company, Kashio Seisakujo, in April 1946 in Mitaka, Tokyo. The
first product created was the yubiwa pipe, a ring for the finger that held a cigarette. Kashio used his
profits from the yubiwa pipe to develop their own calculators. The company was later incorporated in
1957 as Casio Computer Co., Ltd. The Kashios believed that giving a westernized name would render
the company s consumer and business products more marketable, both locally and globally. Around
the same time, Toshio Kashio s invented the world s first compact all electric calculator (Casio 14 A).
The Company profited from this innovation and became the only Japanese manufacturer to specialize
in electric computers. In 1965, Casio introduced the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the mid 1990s Casio s digital diaries became extremely popular due to functions like fortune telling,
secret passwords, a matchmaking guide, and virtual pet which appeal to school age children. They had
also gone into the telecommunications industry by developing a small mobile telephone, the personal

United States at that time. During 1995, Casio had also come up with videophone and digital camera
which was an instant hit. Another popular item of Casio in the mid 1990s was its G Shock line of
shock resistant watches which was first released in 1983. By the early 1998, 500 different models had
been introduced and more than 19 million units had been sold. Casio had also collaborated with
Microsoft Corporation to develop the Cassiopeia handheld PC, which was launched in North America

Their Eyes Were Watching God Summary
Review of Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston

fulfilling love and freedom. The story begins when her grandmother, Nanny, catches her kissing a boy

mother, was raped at seventeen, began drinking, and ran away. She faced many hardships and was
denied things marriage in order to care for Janie. Therefore she pressures Janie to marry Logan

that marriage doesn t create love as she had thought. Logan says her place is wherever he needs her

He treats her like she is special and talks to her about wanting to be a big voice and helping to start a

to go with him and get married. He was an escape from her first unsatisfying marriage until, as years
pass, she realizes she didn t find the love she was hoping for. Joe s love is possessive. He sees her as a
special thing and not a special person. He is often too interested in his own big voice to listen to Janie
and expects her to follow his commands instead of her wishes. Yet, she stays with him in Eatonville
until he dies twenty years later and only stands up to Joe and forces him to listen to her feelings
moments before he dies. This scene had the biggest impact on me because I loved seeing Janie finally
speak her mind. Although it was late, she finally showed courage and a sense of self

Scarcity, Accessibility, Utilization And Stability Factors...
Chapter 5
The availability, accessibility, utilization and stability factors affecting the intake of fruits from trees in
forest areas in Cameroon
Introduction and problem
In sub Saharan Africa, just under one in every four people, or 23.2 percent of the population, is
estimated to be undernourished in 2014 16 (FAO et al., 2015). This is the highest prevalence of
undernourishment for any region in the World and, with about 220 million hungry people in 2014 16,
the second highest burden in absolute terms. The number of undernourished people increased by 44
million between 1990 to 92 and 2014 to 2016. In the Central African sub region, the number of
undernourished people more than doubled between 1990 92 and 2014 16 (FAO et al., 2015). The lack
of progress in the rate of undernourishment in absolute terms reflects prevailing problems in the sub
region, notably poor food consumption patterns caused amongst others by limited understanding on
the dimensions of food security, political instability and forest degradation. It is therefore absolute to
carry out investigations to properly understand the dimensions of food security especially with
changing environmental conditions. Promoting the consumption of fruits in poor communities and
amongst vulnerable groups could help in addressing problems of nutrient deficiency and malnutrition
(Kehlenbeck et al., 2013; Place et al., 2013; Tchoundjeu et al., 2012).

Prostate Cancer And Psa Testing
6.0 Understanding Prostate Cancer
6.1 A general discussion about prostate cancer in NZ
This cancer is unusual in that it takes a long time (15 20 years or more) to progress from a localised
state in the prostate to metastatic disease and death. Men whose cancer is in the localised state may
have no prostate symptoms, no bleeding or pain. The tumour is too small to cause obstruction or
LUTS (In older men coexisting BPH may cause LUTS, but there may be a cancer present too).
Research on the incidence of Prostate Cancer and PSA testing in NZ Māori has shown that although
Māori have a decreased incidence compared to all men, their mortality rate is higher, and there is a
reduced rate of PSA testing. Pacific men have the same incidence and mortality as all men.
A positive Family History of prostate cancer is significant, having a first degree relative (brother or
father) increases the risk by 2 2.5 times, if 2 or more the risk is increased by 5 11 times. There is a
genetic (hereditary disease) sub group that accounts for near 10% of cases, this is likely if three or
more relatives.
Prostate cancer occurs mainly in older men. Nearly two thirds are diagnosed in men aged 65 or older,
and it is rare before age 40. The average age at the time of diagnosis is about 67. Prostate cancer is the
second leading cause of cancer death in American men, behind only lung cancer. In New Zealand

Death Of A Salesman And The American Dream
The United States in the mid twentieth century was a time of change. In the 1960 s the civil rights and
women s rights were in their embryonic stages. All of these ideas coming together created the illusion
of The American Dream. Back then; the American dream was equated with freedom and material
prosperity, two concepts that ring true today. The definition of the American dream changes as society
in the United States changes, and the connotation and reality of the American Dream is disheartening.
Two literary compositions give a realistic outlook on what the American Dream really is. In Death of a
Salesman and The American Dream, Arthur Miller and Edward Albee masterfully relay the true nature
and ideologies of The American Dream. In theory, the American Dream is the idea that every person
residing in the United States of America should live a richer and fuller life, regardless of the class one
is born in. It is not a dream about cars, high wages, and a picket fence. The idea, for it to work, is
supposed to be that every man and woman in this beautiful country has the ability to gain the highest
class in their ability regardless of their previous background. The ability to achieve such high success
is based on academic success and hard work. In current times, it seems the American Dream has
become a pursuit of material objects. Citizens of the United States work countless hours to be able to
afford bigger cars, better homes, and the newest technologies. On the surface,

Football As Sport Of Masses
Football is the most popular sports in the world. The game was born in England with the formation of
the Football Association, and the same rules still apply since 1863. The word soccer was derived from
Association . the first game ever played under the Association rules was between Richmond and
Barnes and the final score was 0 0. FIFA is the association that states the rules. FIFA stands for
Fédération Internationale de Football Association). Rules Football as sport of masses According to a
study conducted by FIFA in 2006, 2 270 million people worldwide are actively involved in football,
including players, referees and directors. Of these, 265 million people play the sport. This represents
about 4% of world population. This numbers make Football one of the most popular sports in the
world. Why did I choose this topic. Football is made of passion and it gathers masses of people. The
introduction of technologies in sports will help to reduce the human error and eradicate those errors.
Goal line technology determines when the ball has crossed the line. Cases In 1966 England played
East Germany in the final of the world cup. The Game was tied in Wembley 2 2 and with eleven
minutes of extra time Geoff Hurst swivelled and shot from close range. The ball hit the underside of
the cross bar and bounced down, apparently on or just over the line and was cleared. After the ball hit
the underside of the crossbar and bounced down over the line those referees had no

Implementing Learning Communities At The Community College...
Introduction Many students start college and end up either dropping out or taking an exuberant
amount of time to complete. This is especially true for the community colleges, where the majority of
the students are commuters, a large portion work and some have family obligations. Many institutions
have started addressing these circumstances by creating learning communities. The idea of
implementing learning communities at the community college level can be the change that is needed
for the success of these students. In order to execute this change, an understanding needs to be
developed for the needs of the organization, in this case Citrus Community College in Glendora,

The students in the learning communities will take some courses together, often with a common theme
link. There are at least five basic models of learning communities that share three common factors:
shared knowledge, shared knowing and shared responsibility (Rao, 2005). The courses are linked
together and the students can share knowledge with each other. By sharing this knowledge the
students enrolled in the classes together, get to know each other due to the fact they are together more
often. The students become dependent on each other to get work accomplished and this shared
responsibility helps the students learn to collaborate. The five basic models include linked courses,
learning clusters, coordinated studies program (CSP), freshman interest groups (FIG) and federated
learning community (FLC) (Rao, 2005). I would like to implement the freshman interest group as one
of the models of the learning community, into the academia at Citrus Community College. It entails
three freshman courses being linked together, usually involving an area of interest. Weekly peer
advising session will be held where the students can meet and discuss their coursework, professors,
and college life in general. One of the courses that all students would be required to take is a general
course called College 101. This course involves various aspects of college life such as student success,

U.S. healthcare delivery system is very fragmented. In 2004, health information exchange (HIE) was

health information organizations (RHIOs). RHIO is a type of health information exchange
organization that brings together healthcare stakeholders within a defined geographic area and governs
health information exchange among them for the purpose of improving health and care in that
community (Health Resources Services Administration [HRSA], n.d.). These organizations work
simultaneously to form a network referred as regional health information network (RHIN). The HIE

Consider a scenario of a teenager boy for comparing with this case study. A teenager boy who was
found lying unconscious on the road was brought to the ER by EMS. The only information available
at that time was his name and date of birth. Due to availability of RHIO in the ER, the physician was
quickly able to access his demographics and past medical records. RHIO immensely helped in
locating his parents and diagnose his medical condition. If there was no RHIO system available, then
the hospital would have spent significant amount of time and resources in locating his parents as well
as finding his medical history. Moreover, the hospital would have performed unnecessary diagnostic
tests to figure out the reason of his unconsciousness. Also, the boy s condition would have worsened
by the time the hospital have been able to obtain his accurate medical information. This scenario
provides a good comparison between the use of RHIO by WHIN and its current applications. The
above scenario made me realized the advantages of RHIO. In my opinion, I would have encouraged
the use of RHIO by EMS personnel. This could have helped the EMS in identifying the appropriate
cause of his unconsciousness and they could have been able to manage his medical condition prior to

The renowned painting by Leonardo Di Vinci, The Mona Lisa otherwise known as La Joconde , was
not always the most famous piece of artwork known to mankind. Surprisingly enough, the very reason
it became famous was the theft, the news coverage, and the myths behind it. The Mona Lisa was
stolen in plain sight, giving police plenty of eye witnesses, even so the painting was never recovered
until after the thief attempted selling the vanished artwork. Vincenzo Peruggia, is now a legend and

Conquering Other People Is Not A Waste Of Resources And Time
There are no valid reasons for conquering other people. To conquer another is to gain control over, or
to use force against, conquering other people implies a use of force, such as to kill or to enslave. Not
only is this ethically wrong it is also costly. Conquering is a term that describes something far beyond
persuasion it is an overtaking and an exploitation of another population. It is incorrect for one group to
behave in such away as to take away or impose beliefs that take away the right of anyone to not have
the liberty to choose. In addition to the taking away of rights, this behavior can be financially
expensive and time consuming. It costs a lot of money to sail a ship to long distances, they would have
to pay for food, water, emergencies, fuel and man power. Because of all of the prior reasons,
conquering other people is a waste of resources and time. If you want someone to truly follow and live
a particular religion they must be allow the liberty and freedom to explore and choose this for
themselves. Overall to conquer another holds little validity for those with a mindset that believes in
choice and the human right of agency. Humanism was a very big key idea in the renaissance, it is the
belief that humans have intrinsic worth. Art was another main idea in the renaissance, In the
renaissance there were developments of new art techniques, art developed in the renaissance is more

The Laughing Heart Essay
The poem The Laughing heart by Charles Bukowski begins with a declaration that puts mortality into
perspective. In lines 1 through 3 the main thought expressed, is that the reader is in charge of their
own life, and not to let anyone or anything change that mindset! your life is your life/don t let it be
clubbed into dank submission./be on the watch. ( Bukowski 1 3). In lines 4 through 7 the poem is
telling the reader, that no matter what situation, how desperate it may appear, if you just look for it
there is always hope and a way to escape. Look at the positive things in life because it always trumps

live! Don t hide in a shell like a hermit crab, and watch your life just drift by. Live life to the fullest.
You only get one opportunity at this life and Bukowski wants the reader to use it. . you can t beat

In lines 14 through 16 Bukowski wants the reader to know that a life well lived cannot be deterred by
death. Once the reader realizes this they will become happier and live a life full of purpose. and the

responsibility of the individual soldier and it shows that the soldier takes responsibility upon himself

Analysis Of The Poem Purloined Letter
Purloined Letter Essay
How does Poe bring about the idea of superiority in logical thinking over analysis of hard facts in his
short story Purloined Letter? Poe employs a technique of keeping the audience in the dark about what
the main character is thinking. There is a difference drawn between characters that use logic and
characters that use intuition. Intuition is always shown to have its short comings and logical thinking
is shown to get the main characters further into solving a case.
In the Purloined Letter Poe gives the reader little detail of how Dupin is solving the case in his head, at
first. Dupin is a character that doesn t rely on the plain facts in front of him. He uses psychological
analysis, forensics and looks deeper into the details of a crime. Throughout the whole short story the
Prefect of the police is explaining how detailed his investigation was and how baffled he still was.
This gives us the sense that the Prefect is not in the least unintelligent. At the end of his explanation
Dupin already has the letter and hands it over to the Prefect for the some of his earnings.
In that case, replied Dupin, opening a drawer, and producing a cheque book, you may as well fill me
up a cheque for the amount mentioned. When you have signed it, I will hand you the letter. (Poe 510).
It gives the reader a sense of bewilderment and left wondering how he did it. Then Dupin goes into a
detailed explanation of how he figured out where the letter was hidden through

Glowing Cube Essay
There is a practice that involves UIUC students utilizing stationary glowing cubes in areas that are
designated for this practice. It appears to be a form of nutrition for the student, as they are visibly
seeking to gain something from this interaction as to acquire some type of mental growth. This is
visible in their attempts to replicate what they are seeing and being focused on the symbols and
images on the cube s surface. At times, the students can make the glowing cube physically release the
information it is presenting on a smaller flat rectangle. Knowledge is being gained because the
students usually leave the space with more information that they can vocalize and physically

Many students have neutral or sometimes even content expressions when they seem to successfully be
gaining the knowledge from the glowing cube. Other students that are not fully engaged, are visibly
distracted, and breaking the silence of the shared space are at some point excluded or rejected by the
other students. This is manifested when someone socially interacts with the disruptive individual and
the result is them leaving, or other students in the room giving the individual negative facial
expressions. In the shared space, there are social behaviors that are acceptable and are not, and there
are repercussions for not keeping the preferred conditions stable.
The students behavior while using the glowing boxes is symbolic of their outcomes in future events
and social interactions. A focused student is suggestive of having a positive outcome in their expected
future event. Likewise, if the student is behaving as expected while engaged in the practice, they will
be socially accepted within the space. The opposite would occur to a student that is not focused or is
being disruptive; they will have a negative outcome and be socially ostracized. As a broad symbolic
meaning, this practice is reflective of social behaviors that are socially accepted and

Black Molly is a brackish fish. Such type of fish cannot sustain in either pure freshwater or in pure

very high like normal saltwater but there has to be some salt required for them to live. Naturally you
cannot easily accommodate Black Molly with other fish in fresh water or salt water tanks.

Usually it resembles a black guppy fish. This is a live bearer fish. So you need to provide a lot of baby
fish around the adults. If you keep a pair of a male and a female with no young ones around, they may
not be comfortable with the environment and may develop stress which may even result in their death.
In spite of these specific requirements, Black Molly is an easy fish to care. You should put the fish in a
tank with the water capacity of 10 gallons or more. This is required for taking care of their living
environment. The fish will grow up to two inches over a period of time. If you want to keep a family

The envy that one had is what stirred up the evil eye and many farmers were afraid of boasting due to
the fear of envy. Envy was the root of all the villagers troubles. Envy created many forces, everyone
feared the evil eye. In Martin Luther s Conception of Fascinare, it is said The belief, and often the fear,
that the evil eye can cause various sorts of harm prevails in many cultures. The evil eye belief varies in
different cultures, but has at least one thing in common in all cultures where it can be discerned: eye
power can cause sudden harm to another s property or person. The person who casts the evil eye as
well as its object vary from culture to culture. For example, in Ancient Israel and Italy it has at times
been cast by high ecclesiastical officials. However, in Greece it is often thought to be cast by witches
who can bewitch people. In the Mediterranean, for example, the object of the evil eye can be a person
of any age, but women and the weak are especially susceptible. On the other hand, the wealthy or

Despotism And The Framers Of The Constitution Dbq
King George the Third ruled England through despotism, and the Framers of the Constitution did not
want the same fate. In May of 1787, fifty five state delegates arranged a Constitutional Convention in
Philadelphia. The delegates argued a long list of reasons why the Articles of Confederation was not
working, thus creating a completely new outline of the government. The making of the Constitution
restrained one person or group from obtaining too much power and turning America into an autocracy.
The Framers introduced, federalism, separation of power, checks and balances, and the small and large
state compromise into the governing document. Federalism was a strong starting point to prevent
America from becoming a dictatorship. Different powers were given in James Madison s compound
government. The state and federal governments provide double security to the rights of the people in
America. (Doc. A) On one hand, the state government deals with smaller, more private situations, such
as establishing schools, holding elections, and setting up local governments. On the other hand, the
federal government deals with bigger issues, such as declaring war, making immigration laws, and
regulating trade. Even though both governments have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Transport By Bicycle May Seem To Be A Thing Of The Past
Transport by bicycle may seem to be a thing of the past but benefits associated with the trend continue

population consider cycling as a means of recreation and for leisure; and so most people don t

Over the years, America has learned to depend solely on cars and trucks, which operate on fossil fuel

Statutory Background Of Facta Litigation Essay
Before addressing the specific claims of this Comment, it is necessary to examine the statutory
background of FACTA litigation, the realities of class action § 1681c(g) litigation, the case law
establishing what constitutes willfulness, and the standards for a 12(b)(6) motion to dismiss. Sections
I.A and I.B will examine FACTA and its underlying policies, as well as the reasons for the temporary
safe harbor Congress later created for violations of the expiration date requirement. Next, Section I.C
will explore the realities of § 1681c(g) litigation, particularly the massive liability that defendants face
from the aggregation of statutory damages via class action suits. Third, because the recovery of
statutory damages depends on showing that a defendant willfully violated FACTA, Section I.D will
explore Safeco, the Supreme Court decision establishing the meaning of willfulness in FACTA cases.
Finally, Section I.E will examine the new pleading standards established in Twombly and Iqbal in
order to better inform the later discussion of pre and post Iqbal 1681c(g) case law.

Darwin And The Scientific Method
Summary Darwin and the Scientific Method There has been an apparent disagreement between how
Darwin conducted his experimentation and how he publicized his findings to the public. Ayala
describes that Darwin follows and inductive approach derived from British philosophers such as John
Stuart Mill and Francis Bacon; they believed in making observations without criticizing as to their
significance and to gather several of them in order to reach a final conclusion. As Darwin traveled on
the H.M.S. Beagle he was in pursuit of knowledge that required observation and experimentation,
otherwise known as empirical evidence. In this case, he wanted to explain the origin of organisms and
to see if his theory of natural selection is true. Darwin had the fear of being accused in making
evaluations based on poorly measured results. There was this urge in formulating hypotheses that can
be tested by observable experimentation rather than having ones that appear to be afterthoughts. It has
been a false mindset that science advances by gathering experimental results and drawing a
conclusion. Bacon and Mill suggested inductive reasoning as a way to gain empirical conclusions not
based on personal feelings or opinions. Basically, an ideal scientist should observe any occurrence and
record without worrying as to what the truth may be. However, every scientist must have a plan as to
what kind event to study and obtain answers to questions they may have on something that interests
them. A

Cardiopulmonary diseases can include an enormous variety of diseases. It covers all the diseases of
the heart and the lungs. Respirations and blood pressure go hand in hand which is why this category is
included together. The following paper is on Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, specifically focusing on
the pediatric population, and even more narrowing on athletes. This is a growing area of concern in
the medical field due to the undetected Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy in athletes until a Sudden
Cardiac Death (SCD). Shockingly many athletes are instantly dying on the soccer field and basketball

what is Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, who is affected, how it can be detected and what can be done
to lower the SCD incidents in young athletes.
Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy is a genetic disorder that causes progressive abnormal thickening of the
heart (1). This thickening of the muscle of the heart may be minor, slowly progressing or severe
producing sudden death. People with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy have a large thick heart muscle,
and as a result decreases the cavity size of the heart. This means the heart holds and pumps less blood.
It also can make it harder for the heart to relax and fill with blood. (2) It is an obstruction to the flow
of blood as it is pumped out of the heart. Once the muscle is too large, it s function decreases and the
heart starts to quiver in

What Is The Significance Of The French Revolutionary And...
The period between 20th April 1792, when after prolonged debates the deputies of the French
National Assembly finally declared war on the Habsburgs of Austria and 18th June 1815, marking
Napoleon Bonaparte s defeat at Waterloo, was characterised by almost constant warfare, save for the
brief peace of Amiens (March 1802 May 1803). In fact, such was the extent of these wars which
spanned a little over two decades that until 1914, the British referred to them as the Great War .1 Of
late, these wars have been an object of much contention and have come under the microscope to assist
scholars in fully appreciating their significance in the transformation of European warfare. Even today,
scholars and historians alike, remain divided over just how substantial a role the French Revolutionary
and Napoleonic wars played in altering the nature of wars after 1792. Without disregarding either side,
Roger Chickering has identified two master narratives which do a remarkable job of explaining this
period s importance, albeit in two extremely dissimilar ways.2
According to Chickering, the first narrative, a notion hypothesized by Michael Howard and further
developed by Geoffrey Parker, holds that the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic wars were merely
a continuation and intensification of the tactical and technological changes gunpowder, musketry and
artillery that occurred in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, which in turn paved the way for the
colossal standing armies

Tim Burton s Cinematic Style
Angles, and Lights Oh My!
Edward Scissorhands and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory may seem like very different films. One
being about a man with metal blades for hands, the other about a man who owns a chocolate factory,
but in reality the films share many similarities when it comes to cinematic style, due to the fact Tim
Burton directed both. Tim Burton has an unique style, and the ways he shows this style is not only
through the stories he creates, but also the use of lighting, and camera angles he uses in his films.
Edward Scissorhands and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory both have examples of lighting and
camera angles that create the same desired effect across both films and audiences.
Lighting can be broken down into categories, there is low key lighting, high key lighting and also mid
key lighting. In Edward Scissorhand and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, both use low key lighting

This type of insurance can serve to protect the beneficiaries, especially when they are not able to fend
for themselves financially at the time of the death of the policy holder. The advantages of a time life
insurance are many. For example, policies are relatively simple to understand. As previously stated,
term life insurance has a specific timeframe and the beneficiaries receive the benefit only when the
policy holder dies. It is important to understand that term life insurance is mainly for the protection of
the beneficiaries. A term life insurance can be viewed as a replacement for the income that the policy
holder provides for his or her family. In the event of death, the family will not have to suffer from the
financial shock of the loss of their breadwinner. Ideally, a term life insurance should be effective at a
time when the beneficiaries need financial support the most, such as when the children are still going
to school and unable to support themselves. This type of insurance can serve to soften the blow of the
loss of income that a family experiences when the policy holder dies. Whole life insurance and
universal life insurance are types of permanent life insurance, which provides lifetime coverage. A
permanent life insurance is often composed of two parts: a savings or investment portion and an

Paradisiacal normalis, M. sapien tum and M. cavendishi as well as the length, width, and thickness of
the leaf and the number, diameter, and tensile strength of leaf fibers. Samples were collected in
Dampit, Wajak and Batu, Malang, Indonesia. Microscope slides used for anatomical observations
were pre pared using a semi permanent method. The Retting method was applied to extract the fibers,
and fiber strength was measured using a tensile strength tester. One way Anova and the Duncan test
were used to establish the mean and other parameters of the dependent variables (length , width , thick
leaf; number , diameter , and tensile strength of fiber). The T test (independent sample) was used to
determine the mean diameter of fiber in adaxial and abaxial sites. The results showed that M.
Brachycarpa had the highest number of fiber cells, a wider diameter fiber, and more adaxial fiber cells
than the abaxial site. The diameter of fibers was 5 6 μm. M. sapietum had the longest and widest
leaves and leaf thickness was highest in M. Paradisiaca. The tensile strength values ranged from 35 ×

The Realm Of Classical Music
The realm of classical music is a relatively veiled in the sphere of popular culture, but if you take the
time to scour through the beautiful, sometimes hundreds of years old pieces, you will be surprised by
the magnificence and allure that the classical music genre can offer. There are three categories of
classical music that can be observed throughout the extensive universe of classical pieces, absolute
music, program music, and characteristic music or character pieces.
Absolute music is primarily instrumental and doesn t present a general theme or idea, and is merely
music for music s sake (Morgan). The term absolute music was first used in 1846 in a program to
Beethoven s Ninth Symphony that was written by Richard Wagner, although the idea had been created
in the late 1700 s by German Romanticist authors (Apel). Absolute music does not tell a story or
convey any message external to the music itself, but still produces beautiful ravishing tunes. Although
it is not as common as program or characteristic music, it is still hiding in prominent classical pieces.
An exceptional example of mainstream absolute music that I enjoy is Canon and Gigue for 3 violins
and basso continuo by Johann Pachelbel, more commonly known as simply Canon in D, or Pachelbel
s Canon. Pachelbel was a German composer who was most commonly recognized for his organ
pieces. He composed Canon in D in 1680 during the Baroque era of classical music, an era
characterized by heavily exaggerated and

Cultural Changes In Ancient China
Throughout history, society has adapted to different social and environmental conditions, which
created rich cultural diversity. Different natural resources forged varied economic opportunities. For
example, the Gupta Empire which controlled Northern India from. 320 550 CE, had abundant amounts
of ores and precious stones, which helped fuel their unstoppable trade routes. On the other hand,
ancient China was known for their luxurious silks and expensive fabrics. Between these two dominant
empires in the Asian continent, across separate time periods, both were able to evolve and develop a
completely unique culture. However, a country s culture stems from the individuals who live in that
country. Ancient Chinese farmers embodied cultural identity changes in ... Show more content on

Farmers were primarily impacted by the restrictions on iron, which is a durable metal that was used in
their tools. By losing the abilities to own these iron tip tools there was a gap in the farming culture
during periods of time in Ancient China. Individual rulers had different thoughts on the farming
community, Tu Shih loved the common people and wished to save their labor. He invented a water
powered blowing engine for the casting of iron agricultural implements that allowed people to enjoy
the great benefit for little labor. Tu Shih, the leader of early Han dynasty, valued the farmers as an
essential part of his dynasty. He helped the common people by inventing the water powered machine
that cast s iron agricultural implements that benefited everyone. Tu Shih was able to establish a new
opportunity for the agriculture community, which completely changed the culture of farming forever.
However, Tu Shih s comprehensive accomplishment was the fixation of a new culture for his whole
dynasty from the manipulation of the farmer s cultural

Unit 3 Assignment 1 User Authentication
User authentication
With the rapid increase in the number of attempted breaches and resulting damages, there is an
increased need for user authentication, especially with numerous unknown mobile devices with which
consumers are using to access to IT resources.
Users of these mobile devices can be authenticated by the use of passwords or hardware token devices
and both password and hardware one time password (OTP) in most cases. Generally, while the use of
passwords are inexpensive, they are thought to be a relatively insecure form of security. Hardware
OTPs, on the other hand, tend to be a more secure form of security, but are more expensive and may
also be susceptible to more advanced attacks, such as the man in the middle (MITM) attack. ... Show

The inappropriate disclosure or misuse of sensitive information by an employee may result in
financial considerations and legal consequences for an organization. Mobile devices provide all kinds
of new scenarios for business data to go missing, be shared with others, or be stolen. You need to go
into BYOD thinking this way, not just for everyday activity, but also when employees move on from
your organization (Arnold, n.d.).
Every organization must have adequate control mechanisms in place to help protect sensitive
information from the distribution or transmission outside the organization, inappropriate disclosure,
and control of how the information accessed is used. Companies should have policies in place that
outline the course of action to take should inappropriate usage or disclosure of data be

Basically, a dead end might conceal delicious fruits that heal wounds, trapped animals needing rescue,
and rare weapons ensnared in tight veins. Additionally, an adventurer can pass through areas by secret
passageways. Besides the little unique traits, ATLUS has incorporated interactive levels, designing and
using distinct landscapes for specific reasons. For example, hollow pits are walkable and traps the T
Rex FOEs from temporarily moving. Secondly, the broken architect piles will block the player s
advance movements, but flying creatures can soar over these obstacles. Speaking of overcoming
obstacles, placing the staircase on the map will eventually unlock floor jump. However, it s uncertain
when/how the glowing golden stairs are triggered, but it comes in handy to reach destination at a
faster pace. While the explorers walk further into these labyrinth maps, time gradually continues,
switching from day to night. During these time shifts, dangerous predators may become active and
lurk at night.
Monsters in Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight are divided into two sections (and possibly
more when referencing quests, rare appearances, etc.). Nonetheless, folks will encounter a section of
common invisible creatures; these weak beings will appear and initiate a battle screen, especially

The No Child Left Behind Act Of 2001 ( Nclb )
The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) is a United States Act of Congress that is a
reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, which included Title I, the
government s flagship aid program for disadvantaged students. No Child Left behind was enacted with
the intent to become a government aid program for disadvantaged students, and eventually raise the
general education standards for the United States. This act was created with the idea to close the
achievement gap with accountability, flexibility, and choice, so that no child is left behind (ESEA) to
put most simply. The act serves to only require certain basic skills, but does not have any national
achievement standards, as it is decided on by each individual state. The bill was signed into effect by
George W. Bush in January of 2002. Many people, opposers and supporters alike, argue that it is a one
size fits all approach to education and teaching that puts too much emphasis on testing and doesn t
fund schools properly, making it nearly impossible to achieve success. The law was initially designed
to introduce national standards to a system in which students in some demographic groups were more
likely to succeed and others likely to be left behind. But it allows states to determine how success is
measured, which could be the source of its downfall.
The problems with NCLB seem to be endless. The biggest, and most easily solved, is the lack of a
plan. NCLB was enacted with several goals:

  • 2. The Middle East And Northern Africa Essay The Middle East and Northern Africa (MENA) My initial impressions of the Middle East and Northern Africa are they are desolate, poor, and primarily Muslim. Although I know there is an infrastructure in the cities that is not how I viewed the overall majority of these two countries. The terms political unrest and upheaval, also come to mind. When all you see on the news are war torn areas in these countries, the view you come out with is skewed by what the media introduces you to. Many thoughts also run through ones head when you ponder what to expect when you approach these countries about business opportunities. I do not believe I am ethnocentric when it comes to other countries and their culture, albeit I have a perception which is stifled and constricted by those skewed views in which we are shown. I also feel there is only two classes, the haves and have nots, if you will. The haves living in the cities with an infrastructure, and the have nots living in shacks without any of modern day conveniences. Although my impressions were uninformed, the information you provided in the video confirmed what I believed as well as gave me additional insight into those countries with which I was unfamiliar. In the video you reviewed two specific cities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Egypt Dubai and Cairo. These two cities are vastly different from each other, however, I originally viewed them to be similar in several areas like terrain, language, and religion. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The functions in financial system contains: Investment Banks Commercial banks Insurance Companies Investments companies One of the functions of the financial institutions is Commercial Banks. Commercial banks will accept deposits and provide very good security and make it suitable for their customers. This is just a normal role for the bank to give their customers money safe so that their customers don t have to physically keep their belonging in their home or on them (APB, 2001). With having commercial banks there is no need to keep large amount of money in hand because the banks can handle it such as online banking, checks, debit card or credit card. Company Background Of The Company KPMG Company Background In 2012 the firm purchased the ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Managed Services business of Thomson Reuters to further enhance its indirect tax compliance services. It made two acquisitions in 2011, as well. KPMG L.L.P. bought Optimum Solutions, which provides management consulting and implementation services to companies that use Oracle enterprise software. The move has enabled it to serve clients with ERP and HR transformation needs. To boost capacity, the company and its UK affiliate teamed up in 2011 to buy outsourcing advisory firm EquaTerra, adding another revenue stream. The acquisition follows KPMG L.L.P. s 2010 purchase of the supply chain advisory services unit of second tier accountancy Grant Thornton. KPMG has been able to rebound from some past legal troubles. The drawn out drama began in 2005 when the firm admitted to unlawful conduct in an investigation by the Department of Justice. Former partners of the firm created abusive tax shelters for more than 600 wealthy customers between 1996 and 2002; the unpaid taxes cost the Treasury more than $100 million. KPMG avoided criminal prosecution by agreeing to pay $456 million in fines, restitution, and penalties. (A criminal indictment led to the collapse of KPMG s former rival Arthur Andersen.) A federal jury found three ex KPMG employees guilty in the tax shelter trial in 2008 (a fourth defendant was acquitted). In the Central African sub region, the number of undernourished people more than doubled between 1990 92 and 2014 16 (FAO et al., 2015). The lack of progress in the rate of undernourishment in absolute terms reflects prevailing problems in the sub region, notably poor food consumption patterns caused amongst others by limited understanding on the dimensions of food security, political instability and forest degradation. It is therefore absolute to carry out investigations to properly understand the dimensions of food security especially with changing environmental conditions. Promoting the consumption of fruits in poor communities and amongst vulnerable groups could help in addressing problems of nutrient deficiency and malnutrition (Kehlenbeck et al., 2013; Place et al., 2013; Tchoundjeu et al., 2012). • 8. Prostate Cancer And Psa Testing 6.0 Understanding Prostate Cancer 6.1 A general discussion about prostate cancer in NZ This cancer is unusual in that it takes a long time (15 20 years or more) to progress from a localised state in the prostate to metastatic disease and death. Men whose cancer is in the localised state may have no prostate symptoms, no bleeding or pain. The tumour is too small to cause obstruction or LUTS (In older men coexisting BPH may cause LUTS, but there may be a cancer present too). Research on the incidence of Prostate Cancer and PSA testing in NZ Māori has shown that although Māori have a decreased incidence compared to all men, their mortality rate is higher, and there is a reduced rate of PSA testing. Pacific men have the same incidence and mortality as all men. A positive Family History of prostate cancer is significant, having a first degree relative (brother or father) increases the risk by 2 2.5 times, if 2 or more the risk is increased by 5 11 times. There is a genetic (hereditary disease) sub group that accounts for near 10% of cases, this is likely if three or more relatives. Prostate cancer occurs mainly in older men. Nearly two thirds are diagnosed in men aged 65 or older, and it is rare before age 40. The average age at the time of diagnosis is about 67. Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in American men, behind only lung cancer. • 9. Death Of A Salesman And The American Dream The United States in the mid twentieth century was a time of change. In the 1960 s the civil rights and women s rights were in their embryonic stages. All of these ideas coming together created the illusion of The American Dream. Back then; the American dream was equated with freedom and material prosperity, two concepts that ring true today. The definition of the American dream changes as society in the United States changes, and the connotation and reality of the American Dream is disheartening. Two literary compositions give a realistic outlook on what the American Dream really is. In Death of a Salesman and The American Dream, Arthur Miller and Edward Albee masterfully relay the true nature and ideologies of The American Dream. In theory, the American Dream is the idea that every person residing in the United States of America should live a richer and fuller life, regardless of the class one is born in. It is not a dream about cars, high wages, and a picket fence. The idea, for it to work, is supposed to be that every man and woman in this beautiful country has the ability to gain the highest class in their ability regardless of their previous background. The ability to achieve such high success is based on academic success and hard work. In current times, it seems the American Dream has become a pursuit of material objects. Citizens of the United States work countless hours to be able to afford bigger cars, better homes, and the newest technologies. On the surface, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Analysis Of The Poem Purloined Letter Purloined Letter Essay How does Poe bring about the idea of superiority in logical thinking over analysis of hard facts in his short story Purloined Letter? Poe employs a technique of keeping the audience in the dark about what the main character is thinking. There is a difference drawn between characters that use logic and characters that use intuition. Intuition is always shown to have its short comings and logical thinking is shown to get the main characters further into solving a case. In the Purloined Letter Poe gives the reader little detail of how Dupin is solving the case in his head, at first. Dupin is a character that doesn t rely on the plain facts in front of him. He uses psychological analysis, forensics and looks deeper into the details of a crime. Throughout the whole short story the Prefect of the police is explaining how detailed his investigation was and how baffled he still was. For example when Betteredge says: We, have been talking of the loss of the Indian diamond, in my aunt s house in Yorkshire, two years since. Mr. Buff thinks, as I think, that the whole story ought, in the interest of the truth, to be placed on record in writing (Moonstone 21). • 27. Darwin And The Scientific Method Summary Darwin and the Scientific Method There has been an apparent disagreement between how Darwin conducted his experimentation and how he publicized his findings to the public. Ayala describes that Darwin follows and inductive approach derived from British philosophers such as John Stuart Mill and Francis Bacon; they believed in making observations without criticizing as to their significance and to gather several of them in order to reach a final conclusion. As Darwin traveled on the H.M.S. Beagle he was in pursuit of knowledge that required observation and experimentation, otherwise known as empirical evidence. In this case, he wanted to explain the origin of organisms and to see if his theory of natural selection is true. Darwin had the fear of being accused in making evaluations based on poorly measured results. There was this urge in formulating hypotheses that can be tested by observable experimentation rather than having ones that appear to be afterthoughts. It has been a false mindset that science advances by gathering experimental results and drawing a conclusion. Bacon and Mill suggested inductive reasoning as a way to gain empirical conclusions not based on personal feelings or opinions. Basically, an ideal scientist should observe any occurrence and record without worrying as to what the truth may be. However, every scientist must have a plan as to what kind event to study and obtain answers to questions they may have on something that interests them. A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Respirations and blood pressure go hand in hand which is why this category is included together. The following paper is on Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, specifically focusing on the pediatric population, and even more narrowing on athletes. This is a growing area of concern in the medical field due to the undetected Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy in athletes until a Sudden Cardiac Death (SCD). Shockingly many athletes are instantly dying on the soccer field and basketball courts not even aware there is a cardiac issue until it is too late. The following paragraphs will explore what is Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, who is affected, how it can be detected and what can be done to lower the SCD incidents in young athletes. Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy is a genetic disorder that causes progressive abnormal thickening of the heart (1). This thickening of the muscle of the heart may be minor, slowly progressing or severe producing sudden death. People with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy have a large thick heart muscle, and as a result decreases the cavity size of the heart. This means the heart holds and pumps less blood. It also can make it harder for the heart to relax and fill with blood. (2) It is an obstruction to the flow of blood as it is pumped out of the heart. Once the muscle is too large, it s function decreases and the heart starts to quiver in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The period between 20th April 1792, when after prolonged debates the deputies of the French National Assembly finally declared war on the Habsburgs of Austria and 18th June 1815, marking Napoleon Bonaparte s defeat at Waterloo, was characterised by almost constant warfare, save for the brief peace of Amiens (March 1802 May 1803). In fact, such was the extent of these wars which spanned a little over two decades that until 1914, the British referred to them as the Great War .1 Of late, these wars have been an object of much contention and have come under the microscope to assist scholars in fully appreciating their significance in the transformation of European warfare. Even today, scholars and historians alike, remain divided over just how substantial a role the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic wars played in altering the nature of wars after 1792. Without disregarding either side, Roger Chickering has identified two master narratives which do a remarkable job of explaining this period s importance, albeit in two extremely dissimilar ways.2 According to Chickering, the first narrative, a notion hypothesized by Michael Howard and further developed by Geoffrey Parker, holds that the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic wars were merely a continuation and intensification of the tactical and technological changes gunpowder, musketry and artillery that occurred in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, which in turn paved the way for the colossal standing armies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This type of insurance can serve to protect the beneficiaries, especially when they are not able to fend for themselves financially at the time of the death of the policy holder. The advantages of a time life insurance are many. For example, policies are relatively simple to understand. As previously stated, term life insurance has a specific timeframe and the beneficiaries receive the benefit only when the policy holder dies. It is important to understand that term life insurance is mainly for the protection of the beneficiaries. A term life insurance can be viewed as a replacement for the income that the policy holder provides for his or her family. In the event of death, the family will not have to suffer from the financial shock of the loss of their breadwinner. Ideally, a term life insurance should be effective at a time when the beneficiaries need financial support the most, such as when the children are still going to school and unable to support themselves. This type of insurance can serve to soften the blow of the loss of income that a family experiences when the policy holder dies. Whole life insurance and universal life insurance are types of permanent life insurance, which provides lifetime coverage. • 42. The Realm Of Classical Music The realm of classical music is a relatively veiled in the sphere of popular culture, but if you take the time to scour through the beautiful, sometimes hundreds of years old pieces, you will be surprised by the magnificence and allure that the classical music genre can offer. There are three categories of classical music that can be observed throughout the extensive universe of classical pieces, absolute music, program music, and characteristic music or character pieces. Absolute music is primarily instrumental and doesn t present a general theme or idea, and is merely music for music s sake (Morgan). The term absolute music was first used in 1846 in a program to Beethoven s Ninth Symphony that was written by Richard Wagner, although the idea had been created in the late 1700 s by German Romanticist authors (Apel). Absolute music does not tell a story or convey any message external to the music itself, but still produces beautiful ravishing tunes. Although it is not as common as program or characteristic music, it is still hiding in prominent classical pieces. An exceptional example of mainstream absolute music that I enjoy is Canon and Gigue for 3 violins and basso continuo by Johann Pachelbel, more commonly known as simply Canon in D, or Pachelbel s Canon. No Child Left behind was enacted with the intent to become a government aid program for disadvantaged students, and eventually raise the general education standards for the United States. This act was created with the idea to close the achievement gap with accountability, flexibility, and choice, so that no child is left behind (ESEA) to put most simply. The act serves to only require certain basic skills, but does not have any national achievement standards, as it is decided on by each individual state. The bill was signed into effect by George W. Many people, opposers and supporters alike, argue that it is a one size fits all approach to education and teaching that puts too much emphasis on testing and doesn t fund schools properly, making it nearly impossible to achieve success. The law was initially designed to introduce national standards to a system in which students in some demographic groups were more likely to succeed and others likely to be left behind.
