The New Liberal Arts Ungar Summary
In the 20th century, there are many individuals that can argue whether going to college is the
correct decision to make right after graduating high school. Ungar and Murray, go head to head,
and give detailed and credible information to back up their opinion on why individuals should
consider attending college.
According to Unger s article, The New Liberal Arts, he solely concentrates on explaining why a
liberal arts college education should be the one that high school graduates should aspire. He
explains why liberal arts should be aspired by high school graduates by dissecting seven common
misconceptions that many people have, and proving them otherwise. Ungar s first misperception
tells us how many view a liberal arts degree as a luxury ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He claims that fewer people should go to college because students should have already learned
what will be exposed to them in college, in elementary and middle school. He states, K 8 are the
right years to teach the core knowledge [of liberal education], and the effort should get off to a
running start in elementary school (Murray 2008:23). Basically saying that liberal education
should not be studied in college, but rather in an age where children have more fact based
nature. Another argument that Murray provides in his article is that people solely go to college
to earn a reputable resume with a B.A. to get a decent job. Murray (2008:246) says that large
numbers of students are in college to buy their admission ticket the B.A. In addition, another
argument that Murray introduces to support his idea of why fewer people should attend college
is that he believes that individuals might already have the knowledge and skill to go out into the
real world, without needing a college degree. Murray also believes that individuals that
complete college and get B.A. are likely to make less money than if he were to become a skilled
work, such as an electrician, right after high school. Murray writes, In today s America, finding a
first rate lawyer or physician is easy. Finding a first rate skilled labor is hard. This encourages
people not to attend college after high school, but

Sustainable Fashion Essay
One of the most heavily discussed topics, in this last decade, is the environmental decay of our
planet. Diverse concepts have materialized in order to find solutions for the problem. Ecology and
sustainable growth have been confirmed to be the main solutions currently. Innovations for
sustainable growth include: creation of hybrid cars, recyclingand minor discharge of carbon dioxide
in factories among others (Christ 23). Environmental awareness was also introduced to the world of
fashion, unfortunately, it wasn t very successful; lately there has been a change of situation and that
is what we are going to attempt to understand. For almost twenty years now, people have been
relying on fast fashion, a fairly new notion, which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact that it is possible to treat the clothes for them to simply not be able to receive dirt is eco
friendly on long term because that means we wouldn t need to wash the clothes as much but then
those same clothes cannot be recycled and that is not eco friendly Is it better to keep clothes as
they are and waste more energy or to treat them but not recycle them after use? It is a dilemma.
Finding an exact definition for the terms sustainable fashion . Green , Eco fashion to a name a
few, is close to impossible. We all have the impression everyone understands it the same way but it
is false, it has different meanings for all of us.
The word sustainability itself implies some sort of length, in the sense that something can last
long, it also. Here are some of the definitions people have of sustainable fashion: Quality items that
stand the test of time it is this concept of sustainability, symbolized by a timeless handbag that you
wear again and again, and can pass on, that I am always thinking of when I design. Says Frida

Accessories are a very important part of fashion and should be considered so a good example for
this definition of sustainable would be the Hermes Birkin bag.
The Birkin bag is a highly exclusive handmade bag from France; it is very expensive because of
its exclusivity but also because of how it is constructed and the materials

Black And White Men And Women
As we read about the journey throughout time, beginning in the 1600s, we can witness the
transformational of slavery gradually (PBS, n.d.). Virginia was primed in the tobacco industry, a
very labor intensive industry, and they were in need of laborers (USHistory, 2017).In 1619, the first
Africans arrived in colony of Virginia, where institution slaverydid not yet exist (Holt Brown,
2000). The Africans and poor white people were of even value (PBS, n.d.). Black and white men
and woman worked together and were punished equally. All of them were indentured servants who
worked for a contracted period of time. This system was used to entice laborers to enter into
contract because there was no work following The Thirty Year s War. An

However, a white neighbor took advantage of the situation years later and petitioned the court for a
debt collection against Anthony, by which he forged a handwritten letter stating he knew he was
indebted to him. The courts forced him to give him 100 acres to pay this fraudulent debt.
Unfortunately, this seemed to be a forward moving trend and the elite property owners were
witnessing indentured servants become property owners (PBS, n.d.). Indentured servants were
treated differently dependent upon the location where they contracted and their master (Sarah,
Caroline, Allyson, n.d.). Another case demonstrating how blacks and whites were treated equally
initially is the case of Elizabeth Key, a biracial woman, who fought in court for the freedom of her
and her son, and won (Holt Brown, 2000). Key s father (a white, indentured servant) indentured
Elizabeth when she was six years old with a man who transferred her indenture to another man,
John Mottram (BlackPast, n.d.). Mottram brought over some white indentured servants, one of
whom (William Grinstead) eventually had a child with Key, who still had not been freed, despite
contract status was over. Grinstead became an attorney and fought her (the daughter of an
Englishmen, which granted father s status to the child) and their son, a freeborn. She eventually
won her freedom in court and

Genetically Modified Food ( Gm Food ) Essay
Hunger and malnutrition of the rapidly growing human population is one of the major problem
faced by the present world. Genetically modified food (GM Food) is the solution offered by our
scientific community to cope with this problem. The food produced on a massive scale, by direct or
indirect involvement of genetically manipulated organisms is called genetically modified food.
Advancement of Biotechnology resulted in a novel method of artificial genetic manipulation called
Genetic engineering. It is primarily based on recombinant DNAtechnology. It is this technology
which is utilized in the production of genetically manipulated organisms (GMO s) that could be
involved directly or indirectly in the production of GM food. GMO s also referred to as GMF s
are Genetically Modified Organisms. Commercial sale of GMO s began in 1994. GMO s which
are made by the technique of gene splicing. Gene splicing is where the genes from the DNA of
one species of plant or animal is extracted and forced into the genes of another plant or animal.
The gene is then cloned thousands of times so it can be inserted into the cell. The new DNA from
another organism is inserted into the gene sequence of the original organism. The gene is then
designed to work coherently with the organism it s placed within. Hunger and malnutrition of the
rapidly growing human population is one of the major problem faced by the present world.

Is Culture Rational Or Irrational
Rational or Irrational? (A discussion on culture and its Apollonian and Dionysian aspects) Is
there ever a reason behind why we do what we do, or do we act purely out of impulse? Some
people are very meticulous when it comes to planning things out while others go with the flow
and don t worry about what will happen. Is this something that is programmed inside of us, or
are we influenced by the culture in which we live? I believe that the culture we live in today has
a huge influence on the people we become. Friedrich Nietzsche has more to say on this subject.
Nietzsche, born in 1844, was one of the most influential modern thinkers. He was a brilliant
student, particularly of the classics, and he became a professor at the University of Basel... Show

Literature, art and music are three things that make up a huge part of our culture today. They
influence who we are as a people and represent us as individuals and also as a whole. David
Tracy, in this excerpt of his work, deliberates how to view the Dionysian aspect of the world.
Nietzsche insists that we must understand the vital, energetic Dionysian reality of life... we will
find an active response to life in all its joy and suffering, its wonder and its cruelty, its beauty,
and its horror. The conclusion is made that this trait is more lively and free. Nietzsche talks about
how the Dionysian people are more excessive and irrational; they live with a greater lack of
discipline. The literature, art, and music of today aren t conservative like they used to be. They
challenged the norm and push the limits of what people are used to hearing, seeing, and reading.
Writers, musicians, and artists are always pushing to create something new, something that will
shock and awe people. These actions completely reflect those of Dionysian people. The Dionysian
aspect of the culture we live in today is seen through works of music, art, and

tall spires and a gloomy look to it. Therefore, the castle would be classified as Gothic. Relating to
the castle where Fiona is captures, the textbook tells us that gargoyles are carved figures that
serve as waterspouts that drain water from the roof. Gargoyles also include other grotesque
carvings associated with Gothic. It says that flying buttresses are stone arches that carry most of
the weight of the roof, so the massive thick walls are not needed. Tall spires reached high in the
sky to the heavens and over took the landscape. The cathedral Notre Dame de Paris began in

commercial ads played in between one s favorite TV show or during breaks in a football game.
Commercial ads have to showcase their product by appealing to the viewers emotions while also

theme of survival, but the character aren t at risk from a certain entity that is out to kill them.
The characters are threatened by the upper class society, because they limit their chance for

Caelica Analysis
Fulke Greville the author of Caelica, survived most of his contemporaries. Since his childhood,
Greville has a sense of his own great worth. His active literary life was almost fifty years from the
late 1570 s to the 1620 s, which makes him the principal courtly writer of the Elizabeth and
Jacobean eras. When Greville wrote, he would prefer the English form to the Italian.
The main interest in Greville has been focused not on his closet dramas such as his sonnet
sequence Caelica, but on his relationship with the Sidney circle. Sonnets 1 through 76 of Caelica
appear to be written after 1577, when Greville and his two other friends were experimenting
with verse forms. The rivalry between Sidney and Greville was friendly and the titles of their
sonnet sequence gave the reveal of this rivalry. Sidney s mistress is a single star (Stella); Greville
addresses his poems to the entire sky (Caelica). Caelica is more of a miscellany of predominantly
short, often introspective poems in which no fewer than three mistresses are named: Caelica, Myra,
and Cynthia (Gouws).
Sidney s death has a huge impact on Greville, as he stopped writing poems on the human love
and the Caelica sonnets 77 81 turned to remember Sidney for this preoccupied him from
mourning. In 1599, the poems began o show a preference for the six line stanza and that soon
became his form of writing these poems. Fulke Greville s Caelica relates to both the tradition of
love poetry and the reformed discourses of repentance and salvation. The piece suggests that
Caelica identifies a role for sinfully desirous aspects of the self even within the twin processes of
repentance and conversion. The speaker struggles to articulate an emerging, repentant disposition,
and serves in the final movement of the sequence. When comparing Caelica to other poems,
Caelica offers an approach to reform repentance that understands it to be concerned both with
individual and communal redemption. The lover of Fulke Greville s Caelica attends to the election
as a simultaneously theological and astrological term. Greville s amatory points to a pressing
astrological debate of his time.
In Caelica sonnet 86, it advocates patience in the face of life and the

Year Round Schooling The education system in the United States is an ever evolving institution.
As a country we have progressed from one room schoolhouses, to segregated classrooms, to online

systems and minimize costs to taxpayers. Individual states have also implemented various new
systems to try and maximize their education potential. One such alternative is year round

While one group is on break, the rest of the groups are in school, and they continue to rotate so
that as many students as possible can attend. In a four track school district, student capacity is
increased by 33%. In an extended year system, the required number of days that children must
attend school is increased from 180 to up to 240.
There is also another calendar alternative that can be implemented in school systems: school wide
and school within a school calendars. In a school wide calendar, all of the students follow the same
yearlong schedule. But in the school within a school calendar, half of the students are on a yearlong
calendar and the other half are on the traditional nine month calendar. This type of system has been
implemented in several school districts in North Carolina.
Some schools (such as Timber Lane school in Virginia) that follow yearlong calendars also offer
classes during the intercession breaks. These classes can be voluntary for students who want to get

need the time to catch up on the material learned during the year. Regardless of the reason for

round school system.
There are many other reasons why year round schooling is beneficial to students. Schools that

I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings poem by Maya Angelou, is similar to the screenplay The Long

of her race, she doesn t have many privileges as the white people do. One thing she couldn t do
was ride the bus because of the boycott, if they did ride the bus they had to sit in the back no

What Is Imperialism In Things Fall Apart
As a simply written novel with an incredibly complex theme, Things Fall Apart gives readers a
touch of cultural shock which manages to leave them unwilling to return home after the last page.
Chinua Achebe, the author, bases the plot around the experiences his people group has with
imperialism and uses events throughout the story to prove his opinion on this controversial
occurrence in history. The tale centers around Okonkwo, an Ibo man determined to stay traditional,
which becomes problematic when Europeans begin to take over African tribes and reorganize their
governments. This experience exhibits imperialism, which most know of as the policy of extending

As a way for clansmen to solve problems among themselves, this judgment is vital to the
continuous survival of the Ibo people. The Ibo people s ancestors run the court, with masks to
hide their true identities and keep the illusion real to naive clansmen. Each egwugwu represents
one of the nine villages of the clan, and all gather prior to the tribunal in a hut exclusive to
members of the esoteric cult. Outside the private hut lies the ilo, the village green, where the
Ibo hold these courts and the crowd gathers around the opposing parties and the stools specified
for the elders to watch. The organization and work behind such an procedure supports the Ibo s
civility in that citizens are using their time to settle issues that others have and work together to
solve problems that may not even involve them. When a culture cooperates to achieve peace, it
proves that their relationships with each other are healthy and without any bonds between
citizens to hold a culture together, there will undoubtedly be separation which leads to falling
apart. The fact that the Ibo do this supports their civility and that they do not need imperialism.
Further evidence is provided when Evil Forest, the leader of the egwugwu, states We have heard
both sides of the case... our duty is not to blame this man or to praise that, but to settle the
dispute (93.) When a court hears both sides of a case, it proves that they value equality which is
a key quality in a civilized society as it allows everyone in the clan to be treated the same and that
prevents displeasure which could lead to a clan s destruction. Thus a judicial system becomes
necessary to an established tribe and the fact that the Ibo people have one supports the claim of
their civility and that they do not need

economic aid to the Diem regime, it was doomed due to its internal corruption. The same argument
is used to evaluate U.S. military tactics: Successes on the battlefield petered out due to a
fundamental flaw in strategic assumptions. Revisionists such as Mark Moyar will surely disagree,
but Lawrence does represent the majority opinion among U.S. historians at the moment.
His narrative begins well before American forces set foot in Vietnam, delving into French
colonialism s contribution to the 1945 Vietnamese revolution, and revealing how the Cold War
concerns of the 1950s led the United States to back the French. The heart of the book covers the
American war, ranging from the overthrow of Ngo Dinh Diem and the impact of the Tet Offensive
to Nixon s expansion of the war into Cambodia and Laos, and the final peace agreement of 1973.
Finally, Lawrence examines the aftermath of the war, from the momentous liberalization Doi Moi
in Vietnam to the enduring legacy of this infamous war in American books, films, and political
debate.

Stanford Experiment Vs Holocaust Experiment
Both the Stanford and Holocaust experiments are psychological experiments that were conducted
in order to realize the behavior of the prisoners and the prison guards when they are in prison and
the kind of psychological and physical treatments that the guards offer to the prisoners.
The Stanford prison experiment took place in the year 1971. In this experiment young men were
used whereby, they were divided into the roles if the guards and the prisoners. Both were put in an
environment that resembles a prison at Stanford of university. On the other hand Holocaust
experiment was carried out in the year 1960. In this experiment, the volunteers were young, white,

prisoners and exerting too much pressure on them by giving them heavy punishments and torturing

experiment was done in Germany and the statement has been justified using the long term history of
dictatorship dating back to world war two.
The holocaust experiment advocates that there is need for redefinition of cultural values in order to
create a better and more humane society. This has it include a wide range of human existence. On

Essay The Use of Symbolism in the Film The Piano
Screen and Visual images are important in the film; The Piano directed by Jane Campion. The
screen and visual images are represented by Motifs. They are related to the dominating characters
which makes them important.
Firstly, Fingers as signifiers. The films very first image is a point of view shot looking through
Ada s fingers as if they frame her world. They are signifiers of expressiveness. Ada is mute and
her fingers are her tools of communication. She communicates using sign language with her fingers.
Ada also uses her fingers to play the piano. Without her fingers, Ada would not be able to continue
with her passion. Fingers are the chosen means of her affectionate sex play when she caresses her
husband, and Baine s fingers a hole ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He certainly identifies the piano with Ada. He strokes it and dusts it while naked, he tries to pry
into its secrets like a lover. Ada even snaps the lid shut on his fingers when they stray into its
recesses. It becomes the bargaining tool in their growing love affair and when she sends him her
love note it is written on a piano key. At the end, the piano is considered a coffin and Ada throws
it overboard of the Maori canoe, to get rid of her past. To start a new life.
Clothes also are important motifs. They are signifiers of Ada s restricted life and of her potentiality
for sexual expressiveness. The clothes represent Ada s time in life.
At times, her bonnets and skirts are heavy and encumbering, signs of the manner in which Victorian
women were held in tight to constrained social roles.
Later, they are easily removed when necessary at Baine s house. At the start of the film, Ada and
Flora look like peas from the same pod with their identical clothes, in Ada s case showing a quiet,
dark power. More positively, her petticoat becomes a tent for her and her daughter on the beach.
When Flora shifts allegiances, she takes to wearing angel s wings, a gift from the parson s
daughters, and a sign that she is now being judgemental of her Mother s sins.

College Students Social Media Usage
In the study, Technology Inhibiting One s Coping mechanisms with stress and loneliness, there
were five focus group interviews held at the University of California, Irvine. Throughout data
collection I formulated a research question, what are the differences between college students
social media usage and how do they affect their connections to the campus community?
Technology has grown exponentially in the last ten years changing the ways young adults
communicate and understand one another. People s main goal is to create strong connections
with one another, and technology is inhibiting it. People are using online chat rooms instead of
coffee dates. There is a huge difference between in person connections compared to online
connections. This study gave great insight in the different uses for social media and technology.
In reality, sites such as Facebook cause more stress because they are associated with academics
and business. Other sites can be associated with close friends and some students associate it is
with their happy place. Technology does in fact inhibited one s coping mechanisms because
someone will sit for hours on their phone. Instead of scrolling for hours wasting time they could be
using proven mechanisms like talking to a friend or family member. To counteract this during
stressful times, people deactivated social media and other technology to take away the distraction.

dominant season ended surprisingly early. Most had San Antonio penciled in to face the Golden

Next came global imperialism during 1893, which was simply an extension of the way
American had won the West (Schultz, 2012, para. 3). Politically, American imperialism can be
traced back to the 1870s when the United States began to compete with European powers to
conquer vulnerable resource rich regions that would provide substantial profits and a worldwide
network of commercial and military bases (Schultz, 2012, para. 7). In 1883, the United States
began to build upon its military through the replacement of wooden sailing ships with powerful
all steel, steam driven battleships, armed with the latest long range artillery (Schultz, 2012, para.
19). This also meant that the United States needed naval supply bases to aid the naval fleet in
maintaining American territory overseas. As for why America was building a global empire, this
was done to support American economic development and to establish the United States as a
world power worth reckoning with. The United States also worked to build a global empire
because many Americans believed the United States was destined to share the benefits of
democracy and white civilization with the rest of the world (Schultz, 2012, para. 90).

The Big Issue of Piracy
Piracy
Piracy is a big issue in the gaming industry and is happening all the time and companies are
trying their best to get rid of this issue. The problem with trying to get rid of this issue is that there
will always be people figuring out loopholes in the defense of piracy.
There are some smart people who make a lot of money pirating items such as Movies for making
money. There are people who have made millions of dollars using this illegal way to steal what is
not theirs. Most of the time piracy does not impact the consumer because the most popular form
of piracy is downloading music. People pirate items for to get a cheaper price out of things or to
sell to another person for a higher price then what they pirated it for. If a company s product is
being Pirated one solution they might try is to stop making new products for release or they
might take disciplinary action and get the police involved. Pirating is a very scummy way to
make money and it really hurts the company that made the product. Piracy is not good for the
economy and it hurts more than you can imagine. The people that use piracy are usually very
poor and doing it to make money to support themselves and their family. I ve seen my friend
illegally download music and it really made me sad because I know in the end my friend is going to
get hurt in one way or the other. Piracy can happen in many forms but usually happens as a video

answered your questions I wanted to make sure I had done the adequate amount of research. The
topic of the trinityis often taught wrong and is equally confusing at times. The four major
questions that I wanted to tackle are: (1) Is there only one God, (2) Are all three figures of the

1 Corinthians emphasizes that there may be other fake gods but there is only one truth God. A

wondering how Jesus can be God when there is also Father God and the Holy spirit which brings us
to our next question I want to tackle.
Are all three figures of the trinity divine? First I wanted to identify the three figures in the trinity.
Jesus Christ, The Father, and the Holy Spirit are the divine trinity. Colossians 2:9 (NIV) helps us
understand who Jesus Christ is more; For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily
form (Bible Gateway). This text shows us that Jesus Christ is 100% divine and 100% man. Another
text that helps us understand more is Hebrews 1:2 3 (NIV):
But in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and
through whom also he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God s glory and the exact
representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided
purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven (Bible Gateway).

For nearly thirty years, popular culture has been an ever transforming mosaic of human flesh, or

multitudes of media formats; today everything from vacuum cleaners to toothpaste is madly

The first Mariah Carey Video I chose was You ll Always be My Baby. I chose this video for two
reasons. First and foremost, it was one of Ms. Carey s first hit singles and second, it deals (as do
most pop songs) with love. I thought that by choosing a song about love I might get to see some
of the more explicit video segments that the early 1990 s had to offer. My hypothesis was far from
supported as this video showed relatively few stereotypes, and the sexual objectification of the
female main character (Mariah herself) was non existent. The video details a childhood
romance that faded, but the fact that first loves always hold a special place in one s heart. While
both Mariah and the adolescent girl she is played by are dressed relatively conservatively and
are, for the most part, not sexually objectified, certain stereotypes persist. For one the video only
shows Mariah in settings of leisure activities, she is rocking back and forth on a tire swing or is
shown reminiscing about her lover to her diary over candle light. Even the young Mariah is shown
in this way, doodling in a notebook as her adolescent boyfriend serenades her from outside the
window. The boy on the other hand is shown briefly playing sports and then studying (before
sneaking out his window to serenade Mariah).

The Social Action Theory and Symbolic Interactionism Essay
The Social Action Theory and Symbolic Interactionism Max Weber believed that individuals were
the key to society. He developed social action theory, the purpose of which was to find out why
individuals function in certain ways. He thought that every social action performed by an individual
had a meaning attached to it. Social actions are the result of conscious thought processes that take
into consideration the reactions of other individuals. Weber identified four types of social action
which include, reason (an instrumentally rational or calculated action), value or rational action
(determined by belief), emotion or effectual action (dependent upon the feelings of the individual),
and traditional... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These properties could be exchanged for money in the economic market he was of the opinion that
this position in the economic market place determined class position so that in theory there would
be as many class positions as economic positions. Therefore the class structure of society is
essentially an occupation structure. Social action theory recognises other divisions apart from
simply class and also recognises that consumption of goods (by which status groups are stratified)
is just as important as the production (by which class is stratified). It also draws attention to the
importance of the individual and their conscious actions. It does not however place enough
emphasis on class divisions, as it tends to concentrate more on status. Symbolic interactionists
reject structure and believe that to study society, the only way to do so is to concentrate on the
individual. Both theories believe in understanding the individual through the use of empathy.
George Herbert Mead was mainly concerned with the importance of language. Language
distinguishes humans from animals and allows us to be aware of our individuality. The use of
symbols is a key element of language. They are used to give meanings to particular events or
objects and are learned by socialisation. Humans make them to assist them to

Benefits Of Effective Teams Within Healthcare
Introduction
It is critical for employees in the healthcare industry to work collaboratively across disciplines to
meet the needs of patients. Fewster Thuente (2015) state that ineffective collaboration between
providers and nurses account for roughly 70% of major medical errors. Therefore, it is critical for
disciplines to work collaboratively to prevent fragmentation of care and provide positive patient
outcomes (Fewster Thuente, 2015; Havens, Vasey, Gittell Lin, 2010). Buchbinder and Shanks
(2012) state that the benefits of effective teams within healthcare include coordination of care,
efficient use of healthcare services, increased productivity, increased trust among team members,
increased job satisfaction, and higher patient satisfaction.
Ezziane et al. (2012) described five core components of teamwork that include team leadership,
mutual performance monitoring, backup behavior, adaptability, and team orientation. High
performing teams use these elements to develop a culture for speaking up, and situational
awareness among team members. Situational awareness refers to a person s perception and
understanding of their dynamic environment, and human errors often result from a lack of such
awareness (Ezziane et al., 2012). These teamwork constructs provide the foundational basis for
understanding how hospitals can identify teamwork challenges, assess team performance, and
design effective interventions.
Benefits of teams include sharing different ideas and

UNIT I INTRODUCTION In an old age people exchanged their products and services to obtain
what they needed (such as foods, dress, and tools) from another people. This system of bartering
compensated for the lack of money. People offered goods/ services and return back another kind

Player mode selection is not an option in every game, but there are specific player modes
designed in all game genres to best serve every kind of gamer. Video games have become more
popular in the past couple of decades, providing the uprising of advertisement and stores which

have evolved beyond graphics alone. Now games come packed with achievements, leaderboards,

the use of real world money to buy items for a character. Not only have games evolved in these

Be that as it may, the single player mode is the only one which can quench the thirst for a story rich
game, in a self reliant environment, which is free from awkward and problematic social
miscommunication unlike two or multiplayer or massively multiplayer modes.
Single Player Mode
First, the single player mode is typically largely story rich. Developers found a way to engage lone
players, by captivating them with a story background, often with an unfolding story throughout
the game. For example, in Ori and the Blind Forest, the game begins with a touching story about
Ori, the main protagonist. His heartfelt story coupled with the enchanting musical score and
artwork, plus the often challenging obstacles a player must overcome, makes this platformer
game story rich and memorable. Similarly, some games include an interactive story, where the
player can select conversational responses or make detrimental decisions as to how the character
s morale develops and how the story goes. In the role playing Fable series, the choices made by
the player, dictate how the character develops and how the story pans out. The player determines
whether their character is good or evil, in regards to the way their character responds to the built in
characters, or commonly referred to as artificial intelligence, in the game, along with what personal,
social and political choices they deem fit. Second, single player mode offers players a self reliant
environment.

Stages of Group Development
The Forming Storming Norming Performing is a model of group development, first proposed
by Bruce Tuckman in 1965, who maintained that these phases are all necessary and inevitable in
order for the team to grow, to face up to challenges, to tackle problems, to find solutions, to plan
work, and to deliver results. Forming In the first stages of team building, the forming of the team
takes place. The individual s behavior is driven by a desire to be accepted by the others, and avoid
controversy or conflict. Serious issues and feelings are avoided, and people focus on being busy
with routines, such as team organization, who does what, when to meet, etc. But individuals are

address the types of communication that will or will not help with the task. Indicators include:
Questioning performance, Reviewing/clarify objective, Changing/confirming roles, Opening risky
issues, Assertiveness, Listening, Testing new ground, Identifying strengths and weaknesses.
Performing Some teams will reach the performing stage. These high performing teams are able to
function as a unit as they find ways to get the job done smoothly and effectively without
inappropriate conflict or the need for external supervision. Team members have become
interdependent. By this time they are motivated and knowledgeable. The team members are now
competent, autonomous and able to handle the decision making process without supervision.
Dissent is expected and allowed as long as it is channeled through means acceptable to the team.
Supervisors of the team during this phase are almost always participative. The team will make most
of the necessary decisions. Even the most high performing teams will revert to earlier stages in
certain circumstances. Many long standing teams will go through these cycles many times as they
react to changing circumstances. For example, a change in leadership may cause the team to revert
to storming as the new people challenge the

Essay on The Red Badge of Courage
The Red Badge of Courage
The Red Badge of Courage, by Steven Crane, has been considered one of the greatest war novels
of all time. It is a story that realistically depicts the American Civil War through the eyes of Henry
Fleming, an ordinary farm boy who decides to become a soldier.
Henry is very determined to become a hero, and the story tells Henrys voyage from being a young
coward to becoming a brave man. This voyage is the classic trip from innocence to experience.
To begin, the story starts out with a huge debate between the soldiers. One boy had heard a rumor

Tom and Henry talk about how they are not going to run away from war, and how they want to
become big time war heroes. This is weird because in the end of the book you will find that their
wishes come true. When the battle starts, all the soldiers get very anxious and nervous. Tom and
Henry don t turn out to be as brave as they think that they could be. While hiding, Tom finds
Henry, and gives him an envelope of letters for his family. Tom believes that this will be his first
and his last battle.
Henry ends up fulfilling his worst nightmare. Instead of sticking out the battle with the rest of his
regiment, he hides behind some brush in order to spare himself from getting shot.
He listens in on the battle, and to much of his surprise, he hears cheering from what s left of his
regiment. He then takes off into the woods in anger. While running through the woods his
conscience begins to speak to him. He keeps telling himself that he is a coward and a deserter. Out
of guilt, Henry runs back to the battle site, and meets again with his regiment. These actions
showed Henry s maturity and desire to be a war hero.
When Henry meets back up with his regiment an older man begins to have a discussion with him.

away from the man and runs back into the woods. From behind a tree, he can see all the wounded

Petrarchan Sonnets
Carlos Alejandro
In the first chapter, Every trip is a quest (even when it s not) the author talks about a quester, a
place to go, a stated reason to go there, challenges on the way, and a real reason to be going there.
He says the real reason for a quest is always self knowledge, self discovers, and self fulfillment. And
Lord of the rings and Star Wars are some examples.
In the next chapter, Nice to eat with you: Acts of Communication it talks about communion
which the author says it s also known as an act of sharing or peace . But it also doesn t matter if
its religious or not, it doesn t have to be. And on Nice to eat he talks about some ideas about
writing a classic vampire story, which are, older figure representing corrupt outworn values, and a

doesn t have to have the same typical characters either.

while. It is a stress reliever, and I also get an adrenaline rush from challenging fights. When an
enemy is tough and causes widespread area damage, every minute step or evasive direction I
choose to make could be fatal. Some people quit, I choose to persevere until I win. The feeling
when I accomplish something so difficult makes the task worth it. Because I am stationed
overseas, I do not get to spend time with my family back in the states, and it causes stress. Online
games are a great way to still keep in touch with them. Recently I started playing with my brother,
although our time differences make it difficult. I also bond with my wife by playing video games.
Socializing with others is enjoyable, but finding something that I can share with my significant
other helps us manage relationship stress. I try to update her equipment in order for her to fully
enjoy all that the game has to offer, and that in itself makes me happy.
In conclusion, playing online games over the years has taught me how to persevere through tough
times. Even though I live in another country, I will not let language barriers keep me from enjoying
my time here. Life is annoying, and I am glad I found something that I can share with my significant

Comparing The Storm God And The Serpent
The primary source I was assigned is The Storm God and the Serpent and is a Hittite source. In
broad terms, this story is telling the long battle between the Storm god and the serpent. This, like
many stories we have read and talked about is a constant struggle between good and evil , with
both parties taking the upper hand at some point. This story does have some different elements that
include love and family hardship that add to the story line. This next section will talk about the
battle between the Storm godand the serpent. At the beginning of the story the serpent smote or
hit the Storm god in the town of Kiskilussa (Line 3). This set the whole battle into motion that
the story is based off of. At first it seems like the Storm god is going to let the serpent get away
with the hit and just forget it happens. The Storm god calls all of the gods to him for the feast of
purulli (line 4). Inara had made so much food and drink that she invited the serpent to come and
eat as well. During the festival the serpent ate and drank so much that it was not possible for him
to return to his hole in the ground. Hupasiya tied up the serpent and the Storm god slewed the
serpent. (There is 40 damaged lines building up to the next part, but I believe one year has lapsed
and they are starting the next purulli festival (Line 20). This is when the serpent came... Show more

As we talked about in class with the thousand gods of Hatti , the Hittite people had many gods. In
the text when the Storm god was hit by the serpent he called all the gods to stand with him during
the festival and after the serpent was tied up, all of the gods stood behind him in killing he serpent.
This shows how important the vast number was and that people almost wanted quantity over
quality. I wander how this played in other areas other than fighting? Weather? Super Natural forces?

St. Tropez Tanning Techniques
Self tanners are an effective way to get a darker skin tone without harmful effects from the sun.
Applying self tanning mist using the St. Tropez Tanning Technique takes several steps but will
result in a deeper, darker and natural looking tan. Clothing should be removed before beginning,
as well as glasses, deodorant, perfume, jewelery or make up. Only disposable underwear and St.
Tropez Sticky Feet should be worn, to protect the feet. The hair should also be protected with a
hairband. Moisturizer should then be applied to any dry areas including hands, elbows, knees
and feet. Eyes should be closed and a deep breath taken as the mist is applied to the facial area.
Beginning at the face, the mist should be applied by holding the spray gun level. Vertical strokes
should be used, and the mist should be sprayed from the left to the right. Next the head should be
turned to one side while the mist is applied down the face to the shoulder and across the side of
the neck. The process should then be repeated on the opposite side of the neck. The gun should
then be held sideways and sprayed across the front of the neck and under the chin, as the head is
tilted up. Two to three additional strokes should then applied to the shoulders.... Show more content

Arms should then be held away from the body and the mist should be sprayed from the shoulder
to the wrist, working from the outer to the inner arm. Care should be taken so that palms are not
sprayed. Standing with legs hip width apart, arms held away from their body, the self tan is next
applied to the legs. Beginning at the hip, the mist should be applied down to the ankle. The spray
gun should be level and not pointed down, as this can result in the feet becoming too

India is increasing its hard power substantially and if they begin to increase their soft power
input they would be a real force to be reckoned with. There are two types of powers to an
economy its hard power and it s soft power . Hard power is the countries ability to use their
military power and other economics means to influence the behaviour or interests of other
economic bodies. The soft power is the power that comes from diplomacy, culture and history.
America has maintained it s current economical position of power for so long due to its hard
power, America is renowned for it s military power but are lacking in soft power, Schmemann
(2011) states The soft powers of wealth and information has distinctly shifted , he is referring to
how china is advancing in both soft power and hard powers. This does pose a serious threat to
America because the more and more china begins to interact in international affaires the more
powerful they will become and eventually they will take over if it continues to go this way. At
the rate that China is going CNN money has predicted China to take over as the world leading
superpower by the year 2030, so if America doesn t start to change it s ways it will no longer be
considered the world s leading super power. As previously stated India is investing in it s military
to further improve their weapons and defensive systems, but much like China they are still lacking

  • 2. The New Liberal Arts Ungar Summary In the 20th century, there are many individuals that can argue whether going to college is the correct decision to make right after graduating high school. Ungar and Murray, go head to head, and give detailed and credible information to back up their opinion on why individuals should consider attending college. According to Unger s article, The New Liberal Arts, he solely concentrates on explaining why a liberal arts college education should be the one that high school graduates should aspire. He explains why liberal arts should be aspired by high school graduates by dissecting seven common misconceptions that many people have, and proving them otherwise. Ungar s first misperception tells us how many view a liberal arts degree as a luxury ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He claims that fewer people should go to college because students should have already learned what will be exposed to them in college, in elementary and middle school. He states, K 8 are the right years to teach the core knowledge [of liberal education], and the effort should get off to a running start in elementary school (Murray 2008:23). Basically saying that liberal education should not be studied in college, but rather in an age where children have more fact based nature. Another argument that Murray provides in his article is that people solely go to college to earn a reputable resume with a B.A. to get a decent job. Murray (2008:246) says that large numbers of students are in college to buy their admission ticket the B.A. In addition, another argument that Murray introduces to support his idea of why fewer people should attend college is that he believes that individuals might already have the knowledge and skill to go out into the real world, without needing a college degree. Murray also believes that individuals that complete college and get B.A. are likely to make less money than if he were to become a skilled work, such as an electrician, right after high school. Murray writes, In today s America, finding a first rate lawyer or physician is easy. Finding a first rate skilled labor is hard. This encourages people not to attend college after high school, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Diverse concepts have materialized in order to find solutions for the problem. Ecology and sustainable growth have been confirmed to be the main solutions currently. Innovations for sustainable growth include: creation of hybrid cars, recyclingand minor discharge of carbon dioxide in factories among others (Christ 23). Environmental awareness was also introduced to the world of fashion, unfortunately, it wasn t very successful; lately there has been a change of situation and that is what we are going to attempt to understand. For almost twenty years now, people have been relying on fast fashion, a fairly new notion, which... The courts forced him to give him 100 acres to pay this fraudulent debt. Unfortunately, this seemed to be a forward moving trend and the elite property owners were witnessing indentured servants become property owners (PBS, n.d.). Indentured servants were treated differently dependent upon the location where they contracted and their master (Sarah, Caroline, Allyson, n.d.). Another case demonstrating how blacks and whites were treated equally initially is the case of Elizabeth Key, a biracial woman, who fought in court for the freedom of her and her son, and won (Holt Brown, 2000). Key s father (a white, indentured servant) indentured Elizabeth when she was six years old with a man who transferred her indenture to another man, John Mottram (BlackPast, n.d.). Some people are very meticulous when it comes to planning things out while others go with the flow and don t worry about what will happen. Is this something that is programmed inside of us, or are we influenced by the culture in which we live? I believe that the culture we live in today has a huge influence on the people we become. Nietzsche insists that we must understand the vital, energetic Dionysian reality of life... we will find an active response to life in all its joy and suffering, its wonder and its cruelty, its beauty, and its horror. The conclusion is made that this trait is more lively and free. Nietzsche talks about how the Dionysian people are more excessive and irrational; they live with a greater lack of discipline. • 14. Caelica Analysis Fulke Greville the author of Caelica, survived most of his contemporaries. Since his childhood, Greville has a sense of his own great worth. His active literary life was almost fifty years from the late 1570 s to the 1620 s, which makes him the principal courtly writer of the Elizabeth and Jacobean eras. When Greville wrote, he would prefer the English form to the Italian. The main interest in Greville has been focused not on his closet dramas such as his sonnet sequence Caelica, but on his relationship with the Sidney circle. Sonnets 1 through 76 of Caelica appear to be written after 1577, when Greville and his two other friends were experimenting with verse forms. The rivalry between Sidney and Greville was friendly and the titles of their sonnet sequence gave the reveal of this rivalry. Sidney s mistress is a single star (Stella); Greville addresses his poems to the entire sky (Caelica). Caelica is more of a miscellany of predominantly short, often introspective poems in which no fewer than three mistresses are named: Caelica, Myra, and Cynthia (Gouws). Sidney s death has a huge impact on Greville, as he stopped writing poems on the human love and the Caelica sonnets 77 81 turned to remember Sidney for this preoccupied him from mourning. In 1599, the poems began o show a preference for the six line stanza and that soon became his form of writing these poems. Fulke Greville s Caelica relates to both the tradition of love poetry and the reformed discourses of repentance and salvation. The piece suggests that Caelica identifies a role for sinfully desirous aspects of the self even within the twin processes of repentance and conversion. The speaker struggles to articulate an emerging, repentant disposition, and serves in the final movement of the sequence. When comparing Caelica to other poems, Caelica offers an approach to reform repentance that understands it to be concerned both with individual and communal redemption. The lover of Fulke Greville s Caelica attends to the election as a simultaneously theological and astrological term. Greville s amatory points to a pressing astrological debate of his time. Throughout data collection I formulated a research question, what are the differences between college students social media usage and how do they affect their connections to the campus community? Technology has grown exponentially in the last ten years changing the ways young adults communicate and understand one another. People s main goal is to create strong connections with one another, and technology is inhibiting it. People are using online chat rooms instead of coffee dates. There is a huge difference between in person connections compared to online connections. This study gave great insight in the different uses for social media and technology. In reality, sites such as Facebook cause more stress because they are associated with academics and business. Other sites can be associated with close friends and some students associate it is with their happy place. Technology does in fact inhibited one s coping mechanisms because someone will sit for hours on their phone. Instead of scrolling for hours wasting time they could be using proven mechanisms like talking to a friend or family member. In 1883, the United States began to build upon its military through the replacement of wooden sailing ships with powerful all steel, steam driven battleships, armed with the latest long range artillery (Schultz, 2012, para. 19). The problem with trying to get rid of this issue is that there will always be people figuring out loopholes in the defense of piracy. There are some smart people who make a lot of money pirating items such as Movies for making money. There are people who have made millions of dollars using this illegal way to steal what is not theirs. Most of the time piracy does not impact the consumer because the most popular form of piracy is downloading music. People pirate items for to get a cheaper price out of things or to sell to another person for a higher price then what they pirated it for. If a company s product is being Pirated one solution they might try is to stop making new products for release or they might take disciplinary action and get the police involved. Are all three figures of the trinity divine? First I wanted to identify the three figures in the trinity. Jesus Christ, The Father, and the Holy Spirit are the divine trinity. The video details a childhood romance that faded, but the fact that first loves always hold a special place in one s heart. While both Mariah and the adolescent girl she is played by are dressed relatively conservatively and are, for the most part, not sexually objectified, certain stereotypes persist. He developed social action theory, the purpose of which was to find out why individuals function in certain ways. He thought that every social action performed by an individual had a meaning attached to it. Social actions are the result of conscious thought processes that take into consideration the reactions of other individuals. It also draws attention to the importance of the individual and their conscious actions. It does not however place enough emphasis on class divisions, as it tends to concentrate more on status. Symbolic interactionists reject structure and believe that to study society, the only way to do so is to concentrate on the individual. Both theories believe in understanding the individual through the use of empathy. George Herbert Mead was mainly concerned with the importance of language. Therefore, it is critical for disciplines to work collaboratively to prevent fragmentation of care and provide positive patient outcomes (Fewster Thuente, 2015; Havens, Vasey, Gittell Lin, 2010). Buchbinder and Shanks (2012) state that the benefits of effective teams within healthcare include coordination of care, efficient use of healthcare services, increased productivity, increased trust among team members, increased job satisfaction, and higher patient satisfaction. Ezziane et al. (2012) described five core components of teamwork that include team leadership, mutual performance monitoring, backup behavior, adaptability, and team orientation. Developers found a way to engage lone players, by captivating them with a story background, often with an unfolding story throughout the game. For example, in Ori and the Blind Forest, the game begins with a touching story about Ori, the main protagonist. His heartfelt story coupled with the enchanting musical score and artwork, plus the often challenging obstacles a player must overcome, makes this platformer game story rich and memorable. Similarly, some games include an interactive story, where the player can select conversational responses or make detrimental decisions as to how the character s morale develops and how the story goes. In the role playing Fable series, the choices made by the player, dictate how the character develops and how the story pans out. The player determines whether their character is good or evil, in regards to the way their character responds to the built in characters, or commonly referred to as artificial intelligence, in the game, along with what personal, social and political choices they deem fit.
