The Rights Of The Sound Maker
The provision expresses the rights of the sound maker, i.e. what is not required is implied. The
implication is that anybody apart from the marker is prevented by the Act to make reproductions
without authority (Craig, 2011, p. 105). On 23rd of June 2015, the rules of regulating sound
recordings were modified. The modifications were to the effect that unpublished sound recordings
would last for fifty years after fixation. If the sound recordings are published before the copyright
expires, the term application is seventy years before its publication or a hundred years from the date of
fixation. Consequently, it also extends the copyright for musical performers works contained in the
recordings (Craig, 2011, p.226). According to McCormack (2010), the Canadian Intellectual Property
Office defines performers performances. It states that copyright applies to a performer s performance
provided that it occurs in Canada or in any other country that accords its membership to the Rome
Convention country. Such performances will also qualify if it is embodied in a sound recording, whose
producer is either a citizen or permanent resident of Canada and or member country of Rome
Convention. However, if the producer of a sound recording is a corporation, its headquarters must be
based in Canada or a member of the Rome Convention. It all implies that the intellectual property
protection and, in particular, copyright rules will apply, as long as the disclaimer is either a Canadian

Human Activities And Its Effect On The Environment
As humans, it is important that we understand what our built environment is. The built environment is
human activities and their interactions to the environment that are shaped by our social economic
activities. Furthermore, it is also imperative to know what pollutants are, pollutants are any gas, liquid
or solid substance that have been emitted into the atmosphere and are in high enough concentrations to
be considered harmful to the environment, or human, animal and plant health (B.C. Air Quality ,
2013). The concepts of spatiality, temporality, organizational structure, and health effects and
outcomes all relate to one another in a sense that they are scales or levels that can correlate with one
another to create cause and effects to the environment. Scale can be defined as the spatial, temporal,
quantitative, or analytical dimensions used to measure and study any phenomenon, and levels as the
units of analysis that are located at different positions on a scale (Cash, 2006). Similar to spatial scale
that can be thought of as divisible into different levels, temporal scale can be thought of as divisible
into different time frames related to rates, durations, or frequencies (Cash, 2006). Studies have found
that exposure to pollutants such as nitrogen dioxides (NO2), sulfur dioxides (SO2), ozone, and
particulate matter (PM) has been associated with increased mortality and hospital admissions due to
health outcomes such as respiratory and cardiovascular

A Comparison Of Japanese Colonialism InThe Man In The High...
The Man in the High Castle presents a colonized and divided the United States that belongs to
Germany, Japan, and a buffer zone. Philip Dick states that the Japanese colonizers have a reflection of
the western ideals and values. The Japanese mimicked the American culture by developing an interest
in talking English and improvement of their social status. Japanese adopted the American culture and
acquired American historical objects while retaining their customs and attitudes. The Japanese
occupying the region transform San Francisco into a third world America. The High Castle owned by
the Japanese colonialists because of romantic notions it developed its own attitudes, history, and
culture. Childan develops American ideals but he ironically condemns the Japanese for not
understanding and appreciating the real meaning of America. The paper argues against Childan
perception on Japanese failing to understand America because of lack of common ground.
Childan understands the American culture and history which he primarily uses his arts and crafts.
Childan makes American antiques and sells them in the High Castle occupied by Japanese
administrators. It is not ironic that the Japanese failed to understand the real America. The Japanese
understood the American customs because they parasitized the American way of life. Childan
prejudiced against America because of his weak sense of history (Dick, 338). Childan personally fails
to understand about his country and the Japanese on the other hand ape the American customs and
history. As stated by Dick, Childan himself doesn t know about America but the Japanese do because
of developing an interest in the country (338). The Japanese understands the version and uniqueness
of America and not as how Childan perceives their understanding.
Childan claims base on the colonization by Japanese who occupy the region and keep the zone
underdeveloped. However, the thinking that Japanese do not understand the real America is bias. The
Japanese use the effort and money to simulate the American culture and historical objects (Dick, 335).
The ability to imitate and simulate the customs, attitude and culture of the Americans indicates that the
Japanese understand the real America.

The Function Of The Hair Follicle Stem Cells
An adult stem cell s niche is responsible for the preservation of the stem cell s undifferentiated state
through either intrinsic or extrinsic expression of specific proteins. Hair follicle stem cells are
responsible for not only its self renewal but also in the production of rapidly multiplying cells. The
stem cells of the hair follicle are for temporary increase in cells, and are created by the differentiation
of hair follicle stem cells. The focus of this essay will be to analyze a specific protein within the hair
follicle stem cell BMP, bone morphogenetic proteins. Through intrinsic expression, Bone
morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) are able to function in multi levels and are in charge for the
transforming growth factor beta (TGFbeta). These proteins are crucial for the maintenance and the
proliferation of hair follicle stem cells. Bone morphogentic proteins have the ability to affect other
molecules that are part of the niche, which boosts or limits particular cellular functions to the needs of
the human body and niche. This paper will discuss two experiments conducted that exhibit the
function of BMP. One experiment will examine the results of BMP deletion in genetically modified
dermal papilla cells patched onto mice that had no hair. The second scientific experiment will
demonstrate the effects of excess and limited quantities of BMP expression in vitro on isolated chick
otic vesicles. From these experiments scientists can foresee the future in developing various

American Colonialism
Colonialism s effects are often noticed within certain ethnic and national groups. However, the roots
of the effects of colonialism extend far past the group; they begin in individual people. Conrad s Heart
of Darkness, Dickinson s I m Nobody! Who are you? and Cullen s Heritage each display how the
unique environment created through the clashing of cultures allows individuals to redefine and
discover themselves. Mr. Kurtz embodies the redefinition of oneself through colonialism. He is
transformed from a man known for his promise, [for] his greatness, [for] his generous mind, and [for]
his noble heart (Conrad 70) into a manipulative leader of the natives because colonialism allows him
to escape the strict expectations of English life. In African colonialism, there are no rules. Kurtz takes
advantage of this freedom to fundamentally change himself, and he quickly sheds any semblance he

After his escapades in the heart of Africa, Marlow is described as Buddha like. Conrad s purpose for
describing him as such is because being surrounded by uncharted waters, unfamiliar territory, and
cannibals who show commendable amounts of resistance make Marlow more culturally aware. He
sees the complexity in the world; he realizes that Africa is more than just one of the many blank
spaces on the earth [that needs to be filled] with rivers and lakes and names (Conrad 4). This narrow
perspective is one he cultivated as a young boy and has carried with him until he travels to Africa.
Similarly to Marlow, the speaker in Dickinson s I m Nobody! Who are you? possesses self awareness.
The speaker knows that she is a nobody, and, since the tone of the piece is positive and unconcerned,
she is comfortable with that fact. Following his stint in Africa, Marlow, too, becomes more self aware

My Views On Educational Psychology
Educational Psychology has really opened my eyes and encouraged me to think about who I am and
what kind of teacher I would like to be. In this class we have delved deep into ourselves with different
self assessments, which have lead to a better understanding of our strengths and weaknesses. Getting
to know myself so thoroughly allowed me to realize how dynamic each one of my students will be and
how my teaching style will need to be just as dynamic. Then, learning about the different philosophies
of education helped me grasp how to formulate my own teaching philosophy. Last but not least,
participating in the Junior Achievement program allowed me to get a taste of actually being in the
classroom and gave me the opportunity to test out my own philosophy temporarily. Overall,
understanding my personalities, learning about different educational philosophies and seeing how they
work in the classroom has showed me how to be a teacher that makes a difference in the lives of my
students. Throughout this semester, I really enjoyed taking multiple self assessments to understand my
own personality, but I think the Types of Intelligence Assessment and the Educational Philosophies
Assessment were the most helpful. First, the Intelligence Assessment allowed me to connect my way
of thinking and the subjects I do well in with a type of intelligence. In my case, I scored higher in
Logical and Mathematical Thinking and in Insightful Skills for Analyzing Others, which makes sense
because I

Lacking consideration for others and only concerned with one s own person, profit, and pleasure. The
theme that prevails throughout the book is selfishness. A man for all seasons is about a man, a very
historical figure Thomas more, a well respected man by the king and his people. Thomas More
remained silent when it came to his judgment and thought over king henry s divorce. Resulting, he

Relationship Between Nursing Profession With Scholarship,...
The purpose of this paper is to integrate the relationship between nursing profession with scholarship,
praxis, and evidence based practice to improve quality of care for individuals and their respective
societies. The Oxford English dictionary defined scholarship as the attainments of a scholar, learning,
and erudition in a person (Scholarship, 2016). Scholarship is a noun of academic study or
achievement, learning at a higher level. Scholarship in nursing has become an essential part of our
professional evolution. Professional nursing practice at all levels is grounded in ethical practice.
Essentially, nurses need the constant searching and analysis attitude toward their practice and the care
environment. The conceptualization of scholarship in nursing has been seen most times from the point
of teaching and research. The master s prepared nurses examine policies and seek evidence for every
aspect of practice, thereby disseminating current evidence and identifying gaps where evidence is
lacking. Students being prepared for direct care roles will have graduate level content that builds upon
an undergraduate foundation in health assessment, pharmacology, and pathophysiology. Having a
master prepared graduates with a strong background in these three areas is seen as imperative from the
practice perspective (American Association of College of Nursing [AACN], 2011, p. 9). The
scholarship consists of continuing education on advanced degree programs. This advancement

Essay Mcdonald s V Liebeck
Liebeck v. McDonald s, also known as the McDonald s Coffee Case, is a 1994 product liability
lawsuit. This lawsuit became one of the most famous in the US history because after the court s
awarded Stella Liebeck $2.9 million, after she was severely burned by the coffee she brought from
McDonald, there were debates over tort reform in the US. Stella Liebeck, a 79 year old woman was in
the passenger seat of her grandson s car, while she ordered a coffee from McDonald s. Liebeck s
nephew parked the car to allow his grandmother to add cream and sugar to her coffee. When she
placed the coffee cup between her knees and pulled the far side of the lid toward her in order to
remove it, the entire cup of coffee was spilled on Liebeck s lap. ... Show more content on

The high initial temperature would keep the coffee hot during the trip. However, this contradicts the
company s own research that showed customers actually intend to consume the coffee while driving.
The decision of the jury was based on the principles of comparative negligence. McDonald s was
found guilty and responsible 80% for the coffee burn. Liebeck was found responsible 20% for the
occurrence of the incident. Though there was a warning on the coffee cup, the jury decided that the
warning was not large enough nor sufficient. They awarded Liebeck $200,000 in compensatory
damages, which was reduced to $160,000, and an additional $2.7 million in punitive damages, which
was reduced to $480,000. The decision was appealed by both McDonald s and Liebeck, and both
parties settled out of court for an undisclosed amount less than $600,000. This lawsuit had impact on
both the business world and the rules of the law. McDonald s was forced to reexamine its policy.
McDonald s was aware of the risk and hazard, but undertook nothing to mitigate or reduce the risk of
injury. The company knew about burn hazards and continued to serve coffee hot to save money and
get away with cheaper grade coffee. After reexamining their policy, McDonald s has been serving
coffee at a temperature low enough not to cause immediate third degree burns. This

Sex, Racism, And Discrimination In Advertising
The industry of advertising was intended to be a means of having a product reach its targeted
audience. It is supposed to entice consumers into buying a product. Advertising has become a hugely
productive force. The advertising industry brings in revenue of $250 billion dollars per year in the
United States alone. Advertising is unavoidable and consuming. The average American women, man,
or child is exposed to over 3,000 ads a day and will spend about two years of his or her life watching
television commercials. The ads are featured at bus stops, school vending machines, and even on food
items. People tend to feel that they are unaffected by advertising and are simply able to tune them out.
People are unable to avoid advertising s influence because even if one does their best to ignore
advertising, it is impossible. Advertising s impact is quick and subconscious. We are affected every
day and in every aspect of our lives by the power of advertising and remain completely unaware
(Killing Us Softy 4). Over the last century there has been a shift in what the purpose of advertising is
and what is doing to its viewers. While advertising still sells a product to a particular group of people,

The Controlled substance act pertaining to Marijuana has been a long on going battle as to whether
marijuana should be legal in Canada and taken out of this act. The law behind the drug has a long

That being said there are many negative effects to having the prohibition of Marijuana in place. The

The Impact Of Feminism In Crimminism
Women have always played a significant role within a societal context to include wars and politics.
However after decades of fighting for equality, society still has not found itself comfortable with
adjusting to the roles and capabilities of a woman. For centuries men have been seen as the dominate
species, thus emerging a fine line amongst gender roles. This process of thought is something that can
often be depicted amongst criminologist, being that a bulk of society studies by scientist and theorist
alike are conducted solely on males. Thus, neglecting the capabilities or undermining the involvement
of women in crime. As a result of this sexist viewpoint, most individuals conduct their study groups on
men and not women; however some individuals modestly include women from time to time.
Furthermore, the omission of women from criminal studies often gives us a false truth to a theory.
This is because we neglect women based on their physiological nature and not the physical state of the
study. Nevertheless, we are unable to truly understand the impact of feminism within criminology
unless we are able to examine the liberal feminist, Marxist feminist, and the radical feminists.
According to Merriam Webster, feminism is defined as the theory of the political, economic, and
social equality of the sexes or an organized activity on the behalf of women s rights and interest
(Merriam Webster, 2017). Therefore, liberal feminist is the emphasis on women obtaining legal and

La Vita Nuova; Dante s Definition of True Love
La Vita Nuova is a collection of poems by Dante about an unconventional love story. Dante expresses
his Love for a woman named Beatrice but his definition of love is not of courtly or romantic love. To
Dante, the meaning of true love in La Vita Nuova is God.
On the surface, the Love Dante feels for Beatrice seems like it could be romantic or courtly love
because they are defined as being an intense feeling of deep connection. However, his love is not
derived from sexual desires, or lust for Beatrice and his Love is not reciprocated. He never portrays ...

This is when we first hear him articulate his desire as being something that is awaken from within him
but he also says it can only happen by the right person, saying; ...while praising my lady I should
make plain how Love is awakened through her, and not only awakened where he is sleeping, for
where he is not in potentiality she, by her miraculous power, caused him to be. (XXI, 1). Dante is
describing his soul to be inactive before Beatrice came into his life and since he first saw her it s as if
his spirit, holy spirt, was revived. This Love takes him on the path through his life and every time he
saw Beatrice he would then have visions of divine nature.
After one of his visions, Dante struggled with conflicting thoughts of Love, that disturbed his peace of
mind, The domination of Love is a good thing because he guides the mind of his faithful followers
away from all unworthiness, [and] The domination of Love is not good because the more faithfully a
follower serves him, the more burdensome and grievous are the moments he must endure. (XIII, 5).
Dante is articulating Love to be a man and a higher power, i.e God. He struggles with his Love for
Beatrice because he is overwhelmed with emotion when she is present; much like someone would feel
in the presence of God. This is why he feels conflicted. He also speaks of Beatrice as

Benefit Of Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence Today one of the most spectacular technologies in IT industry is Artificial
Intelligence that was invented in 1955 by John McCarthy who is also recognized as the father of AI
(Artificial Intelligence). As the name suggests that a technique which provides intelligence to artificial
(machine) is AI. Now let s elaborate what AI exactly is. Artificial Intelligence is such kind of
technology that makes a machine capable to act as a human as self driving cars, robots, missile
guidance etc. Here intelligent agents are designed to perform according to the real world environment.
For an instance, the voice recognition system takes the input of spoken words and reacts according to
it as Apple s Siri which listens to human voice and perform the task given to it. So far, we have seen
what Artificial Intelligence is. Now let s know about the benefits and risks related to AI. Benefits of
AI: Artificial Intelligence has made the technology so advanced that it s benefits are taken in almost
every field. Health: People who need some medical help can ask to the computer that provides the
proper solution to them, besides if there is some medical emergency and the clinic or hospital is not
nearby then the medical help can also be taken on phone by calling to a hospital and tell about the
problem, the nurse will put your problems in her system then the system will provide the cure of the

How Religion Shaped Roman Culture
One of the main bases of Roman culture is Religion. In fact, almost everything the Roman citizens did
revolved around beliefs, gods, and goddesses. Not only was their way of living affected by religion
but the progression of advancement in infrastructure and early forms of technology were as well. By
examining Roman baths and temples, defixiones, and Romanization of the provinces of the empire it
is clear that religion helped to shape Roman advancements in infrastructure and early forms of
technology during this time. Aquae Sulis and its baths are a perfect example of how religion affected
Roman life and culture. Romans took mineral springs of hot water, declared them sacred, and
transformed them into huge public baths and temples for worship. For the Romans believed that
emerging one s self into the hot water would bring healing from the goddess Sulis. Without religious
beliefs their desire for elaborate worship centers would not exist. As a result, the advanced and
fascinating Roman structures found in the city of Aquae Sulis may not have been built either. ... Show

Horizontal Integration In Star Wars And The Matrix
In the modern day transmedia world, developing a truly successful franchise proves to be challenging
against the ceaseless competition worldwide; hence, the concept of horizontal integration is of upmost
importance to amount to this objective. Ultimately, horizontal integration is the act of owning various
media enterprises which, in turn, can aid the original media outlet in creating an overall more
successful franchise. Two of the world s largest media companies, The Walt Disney Company and
Time Warner (Larivière, 2015.), endorse this system as a means of expanding their universal appeal to
consumers, as well as enhancing their ranking in the world of media; consequently, generating more
profit and achieving the status of a successful transmedia franchise . Perhaps the two most renowned

The success of both epidemics proves to be as a result of intertwining the story world as a whole
through multiple texts to create a narrative so large that it cannot be contained within a single medium
(Jenkins, 2016). Transmedia story telling ultimately relies on horizontal integration to achieve success.
As Jenkins (2011) states, elements of a fiction get dispersed systematically across multiple delivery
channels for the purpose of creating a unified and coordinated entertainment experience. In other
words, contemporary franchises need to break the boundaries of traditionally telling a story within a
set media outlet; instead, branching out this story world into different medias to achieve a maximum
fan base through areas of consumer interest. For example, Disney holds ownership of the Star Wars

I think the most precious gift that was given to humans by the creator of the universe besides the right

When Verdi s mother Luigia was 26 she and his father Carlo welcomed a baby girl they gave the name
Giuseppa Francesco Verdi but she was not to see her brother become a world renowned romantic
opera composer because she tragically died in the year 1833 from a debilitating form of meningitis at
the time of her death she was 17 years old.
I believe that we study Giuseppe Verdi because he still is considered to be one of the most significant
and prolific Italian opera composers of his time and he also used his music to restore Italy s national
pride and dignity within themselves at a time of their turbulent French rule and administration.
Giuseppe Verdi showed an early natural talent for music but he was never considered to be a prodigy
like young Mozart was in his childhood and even though his parents could not afford the private music
lessons that they knew their young seven year old son both needed and deserved. Despite their
precarious financial situation Verdi s father because he believed in his son s natural musical talent was

Abortion And Abortion
Abortion is a serious ethical dilemma. The practice is not a recent one, there being evidence of the
procedure dating back several millennia and neither is the controversy that comes with it, with records
of laws regulating abortion appearing in texts and manuscripts from a range of civilizations
throughout the years. There has been much debate over whether abortion is a morally sound practice,
and the divisive nature of the issue has resulted in centuries of contention. Many notable figures and
organizations have made use of numerous religious, legal, and ethical standpoints to develop positions
for and against abortion. This essay will be taking a look at abortion through the lens of two normative
ethical theories: Utilitarianism and Deontology, as understood through John Stuart Mill s
Utilitarianism and Immanuel Kant s Groundwork of the Metaphysic of Morals respectively.
Utilitarianism is an ethical theory that claims that the best action one can perform is the one that
brings about the most pleasure, happiness or utility. Utilitarianism is extremely consequentialist in
nature, focusing solely on the results of one s actions and not on intentions or other notions of ideas
such as justice or humanity. There are two main branches of utilitarianism: act utilitarianism and rule
utilitarianism. Act utilitarianism essentially states that whether an action is right or wrong depends on
its particular consequences. Rule utilitarianism states that whether an action is right or wrong depends
in part on similar actions, and how those actions promote pleasure/happiness. Rule utilitarianism came
about as a response to criticisms of act utilitarianism, which claimed act utilitarianism was not feasible
as an ethical theory in that it would be impossible to make decisions that actually promote the greatest
utility in every instance one is required to act. Rule utilitarians believe that instead of making an
individual judgement and decision based on anticipated utility when faced with a situation, it would be
better to establish general rules to follow that, when followed, typically reap the greatest utility. Both
rule utilitarianism and act utilitarianism would presumably have different takes on whether abortion is

Alzheimer s Disease
People look at me and think there is nothing wrong; I am not in a wheelchair, I have full use of all my

The Responsibility Of Abigail In The Crucible By Arthur...
I think it s the kind of events that replays itself throughout history when cultures come under stress.
When societies come under stress these kinds of things happen. People start looking around for
essentially human sacrifices. They start looking around for somebody they can blame... (Margaret
Atwood). Throughout time people have engaged in actions that they later regret and instead of taking
it upon themselves they have simply given someone else the responsibility of the blame. This lack of
blameless responsibility takes place within a character named Abigail in Arthur Miller s book, The
Crucible. Abigail is a person that her immediate reaction is to blame someone else for her actions.
Abigail, is there any other cause than you have told me, for your being discharged from Goody
Proctor s service?... Parris asked (Miller 1132). ...It s a bitter woman, a lying, cold, sniveling woman,
and I will not work for such a woman! Abigail replied (Miller 1132). Goody Proctor had suspicions of
her husband having an affair with Abigail and that is the real reason Abigail is no longer working for
the Proctors, but when Abigail was asked about the situation she of course made it seem as if it had
nothing to do with her and that she was innocent of any wrong doings. The situation that occurs with
Abigail is very similar to ones occurring today. An example from Psychology Today is that a student
gets caught cheating on a test and when he/she is caught cheating by the teacher, it

Leadership Self-Analysis Essay
As a leader in our church, after attending the program in Clinical Pastoral Education, I
learned so much about self. Self awareness is a major growing edge in anyones
leadership skills. Especially if you are trying to be successful and effective with your
congregation, family and in the community.
I learned that when dealing with conflict, I had the tendency to shy away or pretend as
though the conflict is not happening or that it didn t exist. This behavior would lead to
some unattended and unhealthy issues within my self. My peers were able to recognize
my actions when conflicts occurred and would question my response and actions.. It was

Therefore, in order for my organization or ministry to be
successful, I must always be honest about my weaknesses and create a safe environment
so that others may experience that safe haven in order for us to build a trust with one
another.
I believe if trust is absent, the foundation for building goes out the window. I agree
with Patrick Lecioni, members of great teams trust one another on a fundamental,
emotional level, and they are comfortable being vulnerable with each other about their
weaknesses, mistakes, fears, and behaviors.
When we as leaders are able to embrace such a bond with a team, this creates a safe
environment for sharing, venting, and expressing true feelings about new ideas and
thoughts.
So with all of that put in place, it is important for leaders to start off being
honest about their weaknesses and strengths. Hopefully, this would open the floor for
other team members to be honest about theirs.
We will set the ground rules, which would included boundaries and will know that we
are to be committed to factors set in place. Each team member should express openly
what team means to them and what do they call a team.
We should be clear about what each person is expecting from the team and if they
agree with the terms addressed. We should always revisit our ground rules to make sure
we are moving forward with our goals and our time frame

Unprofessionalism In The Workplace Essay
Unprofessionalism in the workplace is a highly controversial topic that is debated by numerous of
individuals. Mainly, because of the different backgrounds, religion, race, and up brings that we same
as members of the United States. Many businesses consider dreadlocks, which are ropelike strands of
hair formed by matting or braiding hair, unprofessional. Why is that woman wearing a burka, niqab,
hijab, chador, or dupatta considered to have on unprofessional attire? Would you consider an
employee as being insubordinate or unprofessional if he/she refuses to do tasks assigned by the
manager that breaks their moral laws? We all can agree that unprofessionalism or professionalism falls
under these categorizes dress and grooming, employee interaction, harassment, workplace conduct,
and ethics. Where people differ is what, or who says something is unprofessionalism or
professionalism. Most of the time companies establish guidelines or employee handbooks that outlines
what you can and cannot wear, how you hair should or should not be, along with many other things.
Therefore, which company is right or wrong? Becoming more informed on the most unprofessional
acts or laws will create a workplace that we all can share comfortably.
One thing in common among employees handbooks is business suits, which became a necessary item
in most white collar jobs during the early 19th century. Invented by Beau Brummell it is a stable of

Borderline Personality Disorder And Mental Health Disorder
Borderline Personality Disorder There are many disorders in our world that affect us every day. Some
of these disorders can be manageable by simple changes in daily activates and others need extensive
treatments and yet will never be cured . Borderline personality disorder is one that affects a person so
radically that the person may consider suicide or even commit it. Extensive therapy and even
sometimes drugs are needed to lead a healthy life. BORDERLINE PERSONALITY DISORDER
(BPD) is a mental health disorder that affects how a person processes information and his or her
ability to understand and cope with different social situations. (Dolecki, 2012) People who suffer from
BPD don t really understand the ways of relationships (friends, family, intimate). They see concrete
ways and barely see the abstract of society. They are not very reliable or dependable and have
problems keeping jobs, friends and even paying bills. People with this disorder are usually impulsive
and do not always make thoughtful decisions . (Dolecki, 2012) Emotions can rage through the person
which can confuse them to think that they possibly are Bipolar. There are many symptoms that can be
expressed in a person who has borderline personality disorder. The symptoms can be general with
things such as mood and emotion swings, impulsive acting, low self esteem, and outbursts. Many of
these are common signs of teens going through puberty, but if they are the signs of a person with

Summary Of Speech-Language Pathology
While reading this article, I learned the brain acquires differently among children who are living in the
lower, middle, and upper classes. The cognitive functions, emotional development, and language
growth of individuals will be affected by those living in poverty. For example, a child s temper, anger
management skills, ability to cope, working memory, and reading skills may be affected.
To promote language growth in therapy, I could involve the client and caregiver in determining goals
and expectations for treatment. I could use the techniques and methods to engage the brain and
encourage making connections to subjects the client is interested in. I should use reassuring statements
throughout treatment to positively reinforce the client.
I learned that an important aspect of Speech Language Pathology is providing clients with the ability
to make choices. Individuals want the opportunity to express their feelings, concerns, and activities
they want to take part in. Some individuals with communication ... Show more content on

I learned that diagnosing Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) can be challenging because it can
potentially coincide with linguistic or phonological deficits. Determining the contribution of motor
speech impairment is one of the most difficult tasks in the diagnosis. Symptoms that discriminate CAS
involve prosodic mistakes, vowel distortions, and inconsistent voicing mistakes. Poor intelligibility,

The Old Testament Of God
Introduction The Old Testament is set from the creation of the universe (roughly 4000 BC,) to the
period of the Persian Empire and Cyrus who allowed the Jews to return from captivity and rebuild
their temple, ending around 400 BC. It tells the story of God s chosen people, the Hebrews, who were
later known as Israelites or Jews. The Old Testament presents their testimony and interaction with God
during this time.
Body
In the beginning of time, God created the heavens and the earth and everything that filled them.
Following the creation was the fall of man with Adam and Eve bringing sin and death upon the earth
and themselves. God made a covering for them indicating that it was only through the blood of a
substitute that they could approach God.
Man continued to sin and God brought severe judgement upon the earth through the flood in which the
whole earth was wiped out except for Noah and his family and through the tower of Babel in which
He divided the people into different nations by changing their languages and causing confusion
amongst them.
God was planning to provide redemption for humankind and chose one family to work through and
provide knowledge of Himself and His salvation through. He chose Abraham (formally Abram) and
his family. God appeared to Abraham and offered him a covenant, telling him that He will bless him
and his family and that they will be a blessing unto others and to the entire nation of Israel who had
become slaves to the Egyptians. The new

Winter Sky Creative Writing
The winter sky slept peacefully. It s cheeks glowed an eerie grey, engulfing the sunlight which

Daily, she relapsed into her memories. The musky scent of tobacco on his diesel soaked skin. The

Understanding The Communication Problem That Should Have...
Final Project
What I will be presenting for this project is solving the communication problem that should have been
solved the moment I choose my career. Since I am almost finished with my classes at the Geauga, I
planned to transfer to the main Kent campus to start my career classes in the spring. In the meantime,
the issue that is accruing at this moment is not having any social accounts that benefits my career,
which are the media and professional accounts. I plan explaining how I am going to solve this issue by
presenting the accounts that I created. I will be explaining the Lasswell model of my accounts before
and after. Then I will explain who s the sender, receiver, and the specific impact that is effective or
less effective by presenting what my accounts look like before and explain how it changed later on by
using images to explain what I done. What I choose for my communication problem was creating four
different social media accounts for my career. The reason why I am solving this problem is because I
have no social media accounts that can help build up my career for the future. I plan transferring to
Kent State main campus to finish my career classes there. Without having these medias, it would be a
hard for me to get hired from other businesses, to promote my artwork, or being known from customer

Brothers of the Bible
Brothers of the Bible
The Old Testament sibling rivalries between Cain and Abel, Esau and Jacob, and Joseph and his
brothers were similar in some ways and different in others, but they all hold lessons for us today, for
brothers today still face many of the same problems in life that challenged brothers thousands of years
ago. Cain and Abel were in a situation much more unique than Esau and Jacob, and Joseph and his
brothers faced, for the society they lived in was extremely small, and they each had a direct
relationship with God. As the book of Genesis tells us, Cain was the first born son of Adam and Eve.
Their next son was a boy whom they named Abel. As Cain and Abel grew up both took
responsibilities for making a living. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Abingdon, 521) As noted briefly above, the rivalry was heightened even more because their father
Isaac liked Esau better than Jacob for the wild game Esau brought home from hunting, while their
mother Rebekah liked Jacob better because he learned to cook and to do other things to help her
around their home. The simmering rivalry came to a head when Jacob tricked Esau out of his
birthright, and then tricked Isaac into giving him the blessing he d intended to give Esau. Enraged,
Esau vowed to kill Jacob. When they finally met again Jacob was ready to completely submit to Esau,
but when they saw each other, Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and
kissed him. (Genesis 33:4) Esau comes across as callous and uncaring, easily outwitted regarding
what might naturally be his, desiring more a satisfied present than a secure future. And on the other
hand, Jacob is presented as a clever and opportunistic individual, who knows what he wants. He takes
advantage of a brother in need. (Abingdon, 522) Essentially, the story of the rivalry between Jacob and
Esau is one in which the Scriptures show the importance of forgiveness. Esau forgave his brother, and
they were reconciled. This relates to many families today, for children are often competitive,
especially brothers, and should heed the example set by Esau. The

The Issue of the Commonwealth s Spending Pattern
Intro The issue of the Commonwealths spending power?????. The recent High Court decision of
Williams s v Commonwealth [2012] , saw the introduction of significant changes to this area, and the
forthcoming Williams v Commonwealth No 2 , currently before the High Court, will likely see issue
further developed. The debate surrounding this area has to do with the fact that in addition to the
legislative heads of power in sections 51 and 52 of the constitution, there are a number of other
constitutional provisions which the federal government has attempted to use as a source of
Commonwealth spending power. The two most frequently cited examples being the section 81
Appropriations power and the section 61 Executive power. In considering both of these sections the
High Court has come to the conclusion that the scope of the spending powers should be limited. This
essay will argue the position that the High Court is justified in this approach and, with reference to the
various principles of interpretation set out by the High Court and the notions of Federalism and
Responsible Government, will show that limiting the Commonwealths spending powers, outside of
the legislative heads of power and the grants power in section 96 is both constitutionally valid and
necessary for the democratic process in Australia. The question is asked should the commonwealth be
able to spend its money on anything it feels like including or should it be limited to expenditure on

Truman Capote s The Last To See Them Alive
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, the term fiction is defined as written stories about
people and events that are not real. Within this genre, there are six main subgenres romance, mystery,
western, historical, horror, and science fiction (Vaughn). These subgenres can help define the author s
purpose of particular pieces of literature. This is true for the first vignette of Truman Capote s famous
book In Cold Blood, titled The Last to See Them Alive . The writing in this section shows how
country living is in Holcomb, Kansas while telling the story of the killers, Dick and Perry, on their
way to murder the lovable Clutters. The title of this book and vignette make it seem as if Capote s
purpose was to write a mystery novel. However, this is proven wrong almost immediately after he
describes the vivid setting of Holcomb. He reveals the identity of the murderers, leaving no guessing
for the reader as to who committed the horrific crime. In other words, his purpose is not to write a
mystery novel, but to describe in detail a cryptic murder in small town Holcomb, Kansas. On top of
that, this novel was far from fiction. Capote immersed himself into this novel, getting all the facts and
details to stay true to the Clutter family while revealing the mindset and motivations of the ... Show

Introduction Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder ( ADHD ) is a common childhood disorder that
represents developmentally inappropriate levels of inattention, impulsivity and overactivity. It occurs
in 3% to 5% of the school age population as stated by (Craighead, Craighead, Kazdin Mahoney,
1994). Another author (Barkley, 1981) stated that ADHD occurs in at least one child in every
classroom. As a result of these statistics, ADHD has become one of the most commonly referred and

Some major causal variables that have been identified are categorised as neurological factors, toxic
reactions, genetic linkages and environmental factors. However, most of the available evidence found,
points to neurological factors, which are imbalances of neurotransmitters in the brain, and genetic
variables as the primary causes of ADHD. The environmental factors and toxic reactions (such as lead
exposure and food additives) are considered very minimal causes of ADHD. The search for causes of
ADHD continues. There are many variables which are biological or thought to have an affect on
biological functioning. Assessment of ADHD An evaluation of a child with ADHD includes multiple
assessment techniques. The main goals of the assessment are: 1. to gather information about the
developmental deviance of ADHD symptoms or other behavioural problems. 2. to rule out other
psychiatric, learning or emotional problems that may be causing inattention, impulsivity, and/or

respect to reports of behaviours associated with ADHD. 4. to identify and prioritise targets for

The Human Skeleton Book Report
This semester has been by far the most challenging one I had so far. Although I faced many
challenges, the learning experience made it enjoyable. We have seen so far about 12 chapters and by
the end of the semester, we would have cover 16 chapters. Although all chapters were very
educational, chapters seven and eight were the most interesting to me. The human skeleton has about
206 major bones; it is divided into two parts, the axial skeleton which forms the longitudinal or central
core and the appendicular skeleton, which forms the limbs and the bones that connect them to the
body. Chapter seven educated us about the axial skeleton. According to our textbook, the axial
skeleton has 80 bones. Our book divided these 80 bones into, the skull, which is subdivided into 18
cranial bones and 14 facial bones; bones associated with the skull, which are 6 auditory ossicles and
the hyoid bone; the vertebral column subdivided into 24 vertebrae, the sacrum and the coccyx and the

interesting bone that is part of the skull, but more specifically the cranium, is the spenoid bone.
Because this bone articulates with all the other cranial bones, it is also known as keystone of the

The Journey Into Cedar Forest
Gilgamesh, powerful, charismatic, and burly that he was hankering to make a title for himself,
therefore commencing on a perilous journey into Cedar Forest. Gilgamesh presumed that if he
executed the imposing Humbaba, the citizens of Uruk would gaze upon him with astonishment and
awe. He yearned for his name to surpass his demise so that all would know the glorious king of Uruk
who defeated the fearsome Humbaba. Gilgamesh blatantly disregards nature and its beauty in his
conquest to slay the monstrous Humbaba. Nature has been long forgotten and demolished by beings
who do not understand nor value its beauty.
Humbaba was delegated by Enlil to be entrusted with the forest to keep human beings whose only
desire was to log the luscious trees that thrived within the woodland. He was viewed by the majority
as a ferocious beast that bestowed fear in all. In contrast to that, we see near the end of book V that
Humbaba may not be as malicious as he was portrayed. He even begs for his life, saying that if they
spare him, then he will become their personal slave. This makes Gilgamesh have a moment of
contemplation on whether or not he should end Humbaba s life. However, this moment is quickly
terminated by Enkidu as he encourages Gilgamesh to continue with his mission. Though we will never
know if Humbaba truly meant what he uttered to Gilgamesh we feel empathy for him. Seem genuine,

The Titanic, born from human greed and wed to fate s punishment, is a modern icon of decadence.
However, Hardy re imagines this icon in his poem The Convergence of the Twain. Instead of an

its vaingloriousness and a product of the ship s conception, development, and wedding to fate.
The poem s organization emphasizes a contrast between different states of the ship s existence. In fact,
the author answers how the ship came to being sunk as the poem progresses. The ship, which came
Deep from human vanity/ And the pride of Life that planned her , falls out of grace In a solitude of the
sea . After the source of its vitality is engulfed by death ( Steel chambers, late the pyres/ Of her
salamandrine fires ) , the ship finds itself in an underwater hell where Cold currents thrid, and turn to
rhythmic tidal lyres , and grotesque, slimed, dumb, indifferent creatures profanate what were once
Jewels in joy designed . An inhabitant of this hellish habitat, seeing this gloriousness in vain in such a
deprecated state, asks: What is this doing here? The speaker answers this question by describing how
destiny prepared a sinister mate... A shape of Ice, for the time far and dissociate and how In shadowy
silent distance grew the Iceberg too... as the smart ship grew In stature, grace, and hue . Then, the ship
and the iceberg finally converge being anon twin halves of one august event at the discretion of
destiny, also known as The Spinner of the Years . The organization of the poem implies a metaphysical
statement; fate is the master of all, and servant of none. It doesn t matter how Deep from human vanity
or how many Jewels in joy designed characterize mankind s power; It is all under the jurisdiction of
fate.
Imagery provides Hardy a vehicle to define essential aspects of the relationship between mankind and
nature. The author argues that fate works beyond the authority of mortals; Only it decides to match the
ship and [The] shape of Ice in an ... intimate welding of their later history . In fact, The convergence of
the twain comes only Till the Spinner of

The impact of technology on employee relations can be negative at times.
An example is Santander Bank, who announced to close down 139 branches in the next 6 months,
replacing the face to face services, with online banking access and telephone banking. This decision
not only affected customers, but employees as well, as this will result in over 1000 employees losing
their jobs.
Also the implementation of new technological system can create conflicts and demonization among
employees, if it is not managed properly and if full support and training is not offered, in order to
accommodate the change taking place.
1.2Types of employment status
When it comes to employment status, it is very important to determine the type of employment, in
order to identify the employee rights and employer responsibilities, as these vary. The employment
contract is it an agreement between employee and employer, that outlines the responsibilities, rights,
duties and working conditions.
There are three main employment status types:
1. Employee is any person that works under a contract of employment, whether it is in writing or not.
2. Workers even though from a legal point of view the term worker includes employees as well, it used
to refer to individuals who offer services or perform work under a contract for a reward (i.e money,
benefits) , aren t doing work

However, the plan called for a $66 million dollar cut in capital funding for environmental program and
land preservation compared to last year s budget. In doing so, water quality improvement projects will
get hit the hardest from the budget cut. This truly was a shock to the supporters for the Chesapeake
Bay and agriculture industry because this negates the possibility of continuing the talks on the issue of
the phosphorous pollution regulation. This imposed heated issues with reports of millions of dollars at
stake for Shore farmers and billions for industries located by the bay. This decision angered many
environmental supporters. Allison Prost, the Maryland Executive Director of the Chesapeake Bay
Foundation said, This is a sad day in the long fight to make Maryland waters clean enough for
swimming and fishing (www.delmarvannow.com). During Hogan s political campaign, it appeared
that the phosphorous pollution regulation was going to stay in place, which required Shore farmers to
limit the phosphorous output. Even though the regulation was a move to limit nutrient pollution into
the Chesapeake Bay that was supported by the former Governor and the researchers at the University
of Maryland, Governor Hogan cut the funds in the FY 2016 budget (www.delmarvannow.com).
Subsequently, political strings caused Governor Hogan to pull the regulation right after his
inauguration. Now that s politics. Get the people s votes and the rest is

taro were put in a camp because of the way she looked and because of the mistakes her country had
made. She can t believe that Americans would express so much hate and racism towards Japanese
people as to put them in a camp as if they were animals. Hana didn t anticipate all this when she first
moved she expected people that would respect them if they worked and made something of
themselves. Hana and Taro are furious about the situation but Hana and Taro belived what this country
had done to the Japanese Americans since the war was the result of fear and hatred and greed among
bigoted and misguided men. He believed this was not the real America he knew (209). Even after
Hana and Taro were put in a camp they knew that the American people were going through a difficult

Examples Of Food And Nutrition In The Elizabethan Era
Foods and Nutritional Practices of the Elizabethan Era
By Davril B.
The Elizabethan Era was very ironic in terms of status and nutrition of the rich and poor as the rich
were known to have worse health than the poor and common people. Which asks the question, what
are the differences between the nutrition health, and table/food manners between the poor/common
people and rich? Since the rich has more money which leads to a bigger variety of selections and the
poor and common peoples did not, what are the reasons for this outcome? Just like today, food
mannerisms and culinary practices are still quite alike to the Elizabethan Era. For example, they
washed their hands thoroughly before eating and they ate 3 meals a day, breakfast in the early
morning, dinner/lunch at midday and supper during the evening. Just like how there are some
traditions where people eat fish on Fridays or Sundays, there was a law where fish had to be eaten on
Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. There wasn t a religion or tradition that was the reason to eating
fish on those days, it was solely for the reason of supporting the fishing companies and if a law is
broken the consequence would be up to 3 months in jail. Important manners of the rich were the
seating at a table, as they would be sitting in a U shaped formation where the people of the lowest
honor would sit at the bottom at the table and the higher honors would sit at the top. Their manners
were very alike to today as there

University Galleries
On September 18,2017 I visited the University Galleries located at Texas State University had an
amazing piece of art on display called The Last Supper: 700 Plates Illustrating Final Meals of U.S.
Death Row Inmates created by Julie Green. Once entering the exhibit the viewers attention focuses on
the deep black letters painted onto the wall, revealing the statistics of the death penalty in the United
States. Moving throughout the room the inmates last meals were painted onto ceramic plates varying
in size and style. Julie Green displayed the ceramic plates in a thick horizontal line on all four walls of
the exhibit giving the viewers an understanding for each meal. Specifically on plate 66 the artist
caught my attention with the color, texture, and lines illustrated throughout the ceramic plate. The
plate was from an inmate in California who requested white meat chicken from Kentucky Fried
Chicken, a buffalo steak, sugar free pecan pie, sugar free black walnut ice cream, Indian pan fried
bread, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On plate 66 there was a great amount of value painted onto the plate displaying different tints and
shades throughout. The face on the Kentucky Fried Chicken bucket had a light tint mainly around the
cheekbone, opposed to the eyes and mustache had a dark shade. In addition, the sugar free pecan pie
had a dark shade towards the center of the pie with a light tint on the crust making a great contrast
with each other. Shifting to color intensity on the ceramic plate, it was very muted giving the viewers
a gloomy, and depressing feeling. The artist most likely did this due to the fact it was the last time the
prisoners were going to enjoy a meal before being executed. Proceeding to the last component of
color, which is hue. Julie Green used different shades of blue to express how serious the death penalty
was, and to show how many people are executed in the United

For my ethnography project I chose to study the life at my parent s group home located in Hudson,
WI. For the paper I will refer to the group homes as living well one and two. Also I will not give out
residents name in this essay for confidentiality reasons. The main focus of this ethnography is to
compare the norms at both group homes and also to observe the setting the residents and the live in
faculty is. Within this essay there will also be two interviews one from the owner and one from a
resident. Going back to both homes was weird because usually I work there but this time I was just

home had more residents than the other. Moreover, I noticed each resident had a different schedule I
paid attention to one patient in particular at living well one she would wake up each morning at 8:00
each morning for her meds, have her coffee, go outside to smoke, then come in watch the news and
take a nap this was her daily schedule and on days when it was warm she would take a daily walk
around the block for fresh air her schedule never changed. I also watched the resident closely at living
well two as well his schedule would be waking up at 8:00 am getting ready for work and then he
would come home around 5pm have dinner then go in this room and play his same. One thing all the
residents had in common was there eating schedule and it was 8AM breakfast, 10AM snack, 12PM
lunch, 2PM snack, 5PM lunch, 8PM snack each resident would follow this schedule routinely
everyday but I did notice that when cooking the caretaker had to pay close attention to the labels of
food and to what they would give the residents because some residents had allergies or their doctor
would not let them have certain food because it was bad for them and their health. Another, schedule
that they followed was for the shower and also there washing day and this was at each home

Firstly, the disadvantage of advertising online is that on the second the company advertised on the
internet, everyone around the world can see the advertisement. People will start to learn the marketing
materials that the company used no matter it is legal or illegal. Everything of the company included
the logos, pictures and brand will be shown on the internet for everyone to check out. Other people
can simply imitate and ruin the whole company easily.
Another disadvantage of advertising online is the web started to contain a lot of rubbish
advertisements. This leads the web users sick of those advertisements and started to ignore the
advertisements online (Ingram 2015).
Kathy(2013) states that the next point is the disadvantage of TV advertising. The major concern of the
TV advertising is the expensive TV ads. The company has to pay more when the air time is longer.
The price will also depend on the time of advertising on the TV, for example, in the morning,
afternoon, evening, night or midnight. The ad shown up, the company

  • 2. The Rights Of The Sound Maker The provision expresses the rights of the sound maker, i.e. what is not required is implied. The implication is that anybody apart from the marker is prevented by the Act to make reproductions without authority (Craig, 2011, p. 105). On 23rd of June 2015, the rules of regulating sound recordings were modified. The modifications were to the effect that unpublished sound recordings would last for fifty years after fixation. If the sound recordings are published before the copyright expires, the term application is seventy years before its publication or a hundred years from the date of fixation. Consequently, it also extends the copyright for musical performers works contained in the recordings (Craig, 2011, p.226). According to McCormack (2010), the Canadian Intellectual Property Office defines performers performances. It states that copyright applies to a performer s performance provided that it occurs in Canada or in any other country that accords its membership to the Rome Convention country. Such performances will also qualify if it is embodied in a sound recording, whose producer is either a citizen or permanent resident of Canada and or member country of Rome Convention. However, if the producer of a sound recording is a corporation, its headquarters must be based in Canada or a member of the Rome Convention. It all implies that the intellectual property protection and, in particular, copyright rules will apply, as long as the disclaimer is either a Canadian ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Human Activities And Its Effect On The Environment As humans, it is important that we understand what our built environment is. The built environment is human activities and their interactions to the environment that are shaped by our social economic activities. Furthermore, it is also imperative to know what pollutants are, pollutants are any gas, liquid or solid substance that have been emitted into the atmosphere and are in high enough concentrations to be considered harmful to the environment, or human, animal and plant health (B.C. Air Quality , 2013). The concepts of spatiality, temporality, organizational structure, and health effects and outcomes all relate to one another in a sense that they are scales or levels that can correlate with one another to create cause and effects to the environment. Scale can be defined as the spatial, temporal, quantitative, or analytical dimensions used to measure and study any phenomenon, and levels as the units of analysis that are located at different positions on a scale (Cash, 2006). Similar to spatial scale that can be thought of as divisible into different levels, temporal scale can be thought of as divisible into different time frames related to rates, durations, or frequencies (Cash, 2006). Studies have found that exposure to pollutants such as nitrogen dioxides (NO2), sulfur dioxides (SO2), ozone, and particulate matter (PM) has been associated with increased mortality and hospital admissions due to health outcomes such as respiratory and cardiovascular ... • 4. A Comparison Of Japanese Colonialism InThe Man In The High... The Man in the High Castle presents a colonized and divided the United States that belongs to Germany, Japan, and a buffer zone. Philip Dick states that the Japanese colonizers have a reflection of the western ideals and values. The Japanese mimicked the American culture by developing an interest in talking English and improvement of their social status. Japanese adopted the American culture and acquired American historical objects while retaining their customs and attitudes. The Japanese occupying the region transform San Francisco into a third world America. The High Castle owned by the Japanese colonialists because of romantic notions it developed its own attitudes, history, and culture. Childan develops American ideals but he ironically condemns the Japanese for not understanding and appreciating the real meaning of America. The paper argues against Childan perception on Japanese failing to understand America because of lack of common ground. Childan understands the American culture and history which he primarily uses his arts and crafts. Childan makes American antiques and sells them in the High Castle occupied by Japanese administrators. It is not ironic that the Japanese failed to understand the real America. The Japanese understood the American customs because they parasitized the American way of life. Childan prejudiced against America because of his weak sense of history (Dick, 338). Childan personally fails to understand about his country and the Japanese on the other hand ape the American customs and history. As stated by Dick, Childan himself doesn t know about America but the Japanese do because of developing an interest in the country (338). The Japanese understands the version and uniqueness of America and not as how Childan perceives their understanding. Childan claims base on the colonization by Japanese who occupy the region and keep the zone underdeveloped. However, the thinking that Japanese do not understand the real America is bias. The Japanese use the effort and money to simulate the American culture and historical objects (Dick, 335). The ability to imitate and simulate the customs, attitude and culture of the Americans indicates that the Japanese understand the real America. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Function Of The Hair Follicle Stem Cells An adult stem cell s niche is responsible for the preservation of the stem cell s undifferentiated state through either intrinsic or extrinsic expression of specific proteins. Hair follicle stem cells are responsible for not only its self renewal but also in the production of rapidly multiplying cells. The stem cells of the hair follicle are for temporary increase in cells, and are created by the differentiation of hair follicle stem cells. The focus of this essay will be to analyze a specific protein within the hair follicle stem cell BMP, bone morphogenetic proteins. Through intrinsic expression, Bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) are able to function in multi levels and are in charge for the transforming growth factor beta (TGFbeta). These proteins are crucial for the maintenance and the proliferation of hair follicle stem cells. Bone morphogentic proteins have the ability to affect other molecules that are part of the niche, which boosts or limits particular cellular functions to the needs of the human body and niche. This paper will discuss two experiments conducted that exhibit the function of BMP. One experiment will examine the results of BMP deletion in genetically modified dermal papilla cells patched onto mice that had no hair. The second scientific experiment will demonstrate the effects of excess and limited quantities of BMP expression in vitro on isolated chick otic vesicles. From these experiments scientists can foresee the future in developing various ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. American Colonialism Colonialism s effects are often noticed within certain ethnic and national groups. However, the roots of the effects of colonialism extend far past the group; they begin in individual people. Conrad s Heart of Darkness, Dickinson s I m Nobody! Who are you? and Cullen s Heritage each display how the unique environment created through the clashing of cultures allows individuals to redefine and discover themselves. Mr. Kurtz embodies the redefinition of oneself through colonialism. He is transformed from a man known for his promise, [for] his greatness, [for] his generous mind, and [for] his noble heart (Conrad 70) into a manipulative leader of the natives because colonialism allows him to escape the strict expectations of English life. In African colonialism, there are no rules. Kurtz takes advantage of this freedom to fundamentally change himself, and he quickly sheds any semblance he initially has of ... Conrad s purpose for describing him as such is because being surrounded by uncharted waters, unfamiliar territory, and cannibals who show commendable amounts of resistance make Marlow more culturally aware. He sees the complexity in the world; he realizes that Africa is more than just one of the many blank spaces on the earth [that needs to be filled] with rivers and lakes and names (Conrad 4). This narrow perspective is one he cultivated as a young boy and has carried with him until he travels to Africa. Similarly to Marlow, the speaker in Dickinson s I m Nobody! Who are you? possesses self awareness. The speaker knows that she is a nobody, and, since the tone of the piece is positive and unconcerned, she is comfortable with that fact. • 7. My Views On Educational Psychology Educational Psychology has really opened my eyes and encouraged me to think about who I am and what kind of teacher I would like to be. In this class we have delved deep into ourselves with different self assessments, which have lead to a better understanding of our strengths and weaknesses. Getting to know myself so thoroughly allowed me to realize how dynamic each one of my students will be and how my teaching style will need to be just as dynamic. Then, learning about the different philosophies of education helped me grasp how to formulate my own teaching philosophy. Last but not least, participating in the Junior Achievement program allowed me to get a taste of actually being in the classroom and gave me the opportunity to test out my own philosophy temporarily. Overall, understanding my personalities, learning about different educational philosophies and seeing how they work in the classroom has showed me how to be a teacher that makes a difference in the lives of my students. Throughout this semester, I really enjoyed taking multiple self assessments to understand my own personality, but I think the Types of Intelligence Assessment and the Educational Philosophies Assessment were the most helpful. First, the Intelligence Assessment allowed me to connect my way of thinking and the subjects I do well in with a type of intelligence. In my case, I scored higher in Logical and Mathematical Thinking and in Insightful Skills for Analyzing Others, which makes sense because I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Relationship Between Nursing Profession With Scholarship,... The purpose of this paper is to integrate the relationship between nursing profession with scholarship, praxis, and evidence based practice to improve quality of care for individuals and their respective societies. The Oxford English dictionary defined scholarship as the attainments of a scholar, learning, and erudition in a person (Scholarship, 2016). Scholarship is a noun of academic study or achievement, learning at a higher level. Scholarship in nursing has become an essential part of our professional evolution. Professional nursing practice at all levels is grounded in ethical practice. Essentially, nurses need the constant searching and analysis attitude toward their practice and the care environment. The conceptualization of scholarship in nursing has been seen most times from the point of teaching and research. The master s prepared nurses examine policies and seek evidence for every aspect of practice, thereby disseminating current evidence and identifying gaps where evidence is lacking. Students being prepared for direct care roles will have graduate level content that builds upon an undergraduate foundation in health assessment, pharmacology, and pathophysiology. Having a master prepared graduates with a strong background in these three areas is seen as imperative from the practice perspective (American Association of College of Nursing [AACN], 2011, p. 9). This lawsuit became one of the most famous in the US history because after the court s awarded Stella Liebeck $2.9 million, after she was severely burned by the coffee she brought from McDonald, there were debates over tort reform in the US. Stella Liebeck, a 79 year old woman was in the passenger seat of her grandson s car, while she ordered a coffee from McDonald s. Liebeck was found responsible 20% for the occurrence of the incident. Though there was a warning on the coffee cup, the jury decided that the warning was not large enough nor sufficient. They awarded Liebeck $200,000 in compensatory damages, which was reduced to $160,000, and an additional $2.7 million in punitive damages, which was reduced to $480,000. The decision was appealed by both McDonald s and Liebeck, and both parties settled out of court for an undisclosed amount less than $600,000. McDonald s was aware of the risk and hazard, but undertook nothing to mitigate or reduce the risk of injury. • 13. Sex, Racism, And Discrimination In Advertising The industry of advertising was intended to be a means of having a product reach its targeted audience. It is supposed to entice consumers into buying a product. Advertising has become a hugely productive force. The advertising industry brings in revenue of $250 billion dollars per year in the United States alone. Advertising is unavoidable and consuming. The average American women, man, or child is exposed to over 3,000 ads a day and will spend about two years of his or her life watching television commercials. The ads are featured at bus stops, school vending machines, and even on food items. People tend to feel that they are unaffected by advertising and are simply able to tune them out. People are unable to avoid advertising s influence because even if one does their best to ignore advertising, it is impossible. Advertising s impact is quick and subconscious. We are affected every day and in every aspect of our lives by the power of advertising and remain completely unaware (Killing Us Softy 4). Over the last century there has been a shift in what the purpose of advertising is and what is doing to its viewers. • 15. The Impact Of Feminism In Crimminism Women have always played a significant role within a societal context to include wars and politics. However after decades of fighting for equality, society still has not found itself comfortable with adjusting to the roles and capabilities of a woman. For centuries men have been seen as the dominate species, thus emerging a fine line amongst gender roles. This process of thought is something that can often be depicted amongst criminologist, being that a bulk of society studies by scientist and theorist alike are conducted solely on males. Thus, neglecting the capabilities or undermining the involvement of women in crime. As a result of this sexist viewpoint, most individuals conduct their study groups on men and not women; however some individuals modestly include women from time to time. Furthermore, the omission of women from criminal studies often gives us a false truth to a theory. This is because we neglect women based on their physiological nature and not the physical state of the study. Nevertheless, we are unable to truly understand the impact of feminism within criminology unless we are able to examine the liberal feminist, Marxist feminist, and the radical feminists. According to Merriam Webster, feminism is defined as the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes or an organized activity on the behalf of women s rights and interest (Merriam Webster, 2017). La Vita Nuova; Dante s Definition of True Love Essay La Vita Nuova; Dante s Definition of True Love Liberal Studies 323/ALH3 Art, Literature Humanism Samantha Ritchie 07/15/12 1 La Vita Nuova; Dante s Definition of True Love La Vita Nuova is a collection of poems by Dante about an unconventional love story. Dante expresses his Love for a woman named Beatrice but his definition of love is not of courtly or romantic love. To Dante, the meaning of true love in La Vita Nuova is God. On the surface, the Love Dante feels for Beatrice seems like it could be romantic or courtly love because they are defined as being an intense feeling of deep connection. (XXI, 1). Dante is describing his soul to be inactive before Beatrice came into his life and since he first saw her it s as if his spirit, holy spirt, was revived. This Love takes him on the path through his life and every time he saw Beatrice he would then have visions of divine nature. After one of his visions, Dante struggled with conflicting thoughts of Love, that disturbed his peace of mind, The domination of Love is a good thing because he guides the mind of his faithful followers away from all unworthiness, [and] The domination of Love is not good because the more faithfully a follower serves him, the more burdensome and grievous are the moments he must endure. (XIII, 5). Dante is articulating Love to be a man and a higher power, i.e God. He struggles with his Love for Beatrice because he is overwhelmed with emotion when she is present; much like someone would feel in the presence of God. This is why he feels conflicted. Not only was their way of living affected by religion but the progression of advancement in infrastructure and early forms of technology were as well. By examining Roman baths and temples, defixiones, and Romanization of the provinces of the empire it is clear that religion helped to shape Roman advancements in infrastructure and early forms of technology during this time. Aquae Sulis and its baths are a perfect example of how religion affected Roman life and culture. Romans took mineral springs of hot water, declared them sacred, and transformed them into huge public baths and temples for worship. For the Romans believed that emerging one s self into the hot water would bring healing from the goddess Sulis. Without religious beliefs their desire for elaborate worship centers would not exist. Horizontal Integration In Star Wars And The Matrix In the modern day transmedia world, developing a truly successful franchise proves to be challenging against the ceaseless competition worldwide; hence, the concept of horizontal integration is of upmost importance to amount to this objective. Ultimately, horizontal integration is the act of owning various media enterprises which, in turn, can aid the original media outlet in creating an overall more successful franchise. Two of the world s largest media companies, The Walt Disney Company and Time Warner (Larivière, 2015.), endorse this system as a means of expanding their universal appeal to consumers, as well as enhancing their ranking in the world of media; consequently, generating more profit and achieving the status of a successful transmedia franchise . I believe this is because I fancy myself to be an imaginative dreamer that has always wished for changes to take place in the world so that it may one day become the way it was supposed to be when the creator of the universe imagined it all those centuries ago. I think the most precious gift that was given to humans by the creator of the universe besides the right to live was when we were blessed with the gift of music whether we choose to use it to entertain others or simply just listen to its majesty. The practice is not a recent one, there being evidence of the procedure dating back several millennia and neither is the controversy that comes with it, with records of laws regulating abortion appearing in texts and manuscripts from a range of civilizations throughout the years. There has been much debate over whether abortion is a morally sound practice, and the divisive nature of the issue has resulted in centuries of contention. Many notable figures and organizations have made use of numerous religious, legal, and ethical standpoints to develop positions for and against abortion. This essay will be taking a look at abortion through the lens of two normative ethical theories: Utilitarianism and Deontology, as understood through John Stuart Mill s Utilitarianism and Immanuel Kant s Groundwork of the Metaphysic of Morals respectively. Utilitarianism is an ethical theory that claims that the best action one can perform is the one that brings about the most pleasure, happiness or utility. Utilitarianism is extremely consequentialist in nature, focusing solely on the results of one s actions and not on intentions or other notions of ideas such as justice or humanity. There are two main branches of utilitarianism: act utilitarianism and rule utilitarianism. Act utilitarianism essentially states that whether an action is right or wrong depends on its particular consequences. Rule utilitarianism states that whether an action is right or wrong depends in part on similar actions, and how those actions promote pleasure/happiness. Rule utilitarianism came about as a response to criticisms of act utilitarianism, which claimed act utilitarianism was not feasible as an ethical theory in that it would be impossible to make decisions that actually promote the greatest utility in every instance one is required to act. Rule utilitarians believe that instead of making an individual judgement and decision based on anticipated utility when faced with a situation, it would be better to establish general rules to follow that, when followed, typically reap the greatest utility. Both rule utilitarianism and act utilitarianism would presumably have different takes on whether abortion is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When societies come under stress these kinds of things happen. People start looking around for essentially human sacrifices. They start looking around for somebody they can blame... (Margaret Atwood). Throughout time people have engaged in actions that they later regret and instead of taking it upon themselves they have simply given someone else the responsibility of the blame. This lack of blameless responsibility takes place within a character named Abigail in Arthur Miller s book, The Crucible. I agree with Patrick Lecioni, members of great teams trust one another on a fundamental, emotional level, and they are comfortable being vulnerable with each other about their weaknesses, mistakes, fears, and behaviors. When we as leaders are able to embrace such a bond with a team, this creates a safe environment for sharing, venting, and expressing true feelings about new ideas and thoughts.

The Old Testament Of God Introduction The Old Testament is set from the creation of the universe (roughly 4000 BC,) to the period of the Persian Empire and Cyrus who allowed the Jews to return from captivity and rebuild their temple, ending around 400 BC. It tells the story of God s chosen people, the Hebrews, who were later known as Israelites or Jews. The Old Testament presents their testimony and interaction with God during this time. Body In the beginning of time, God created the heavens and the earth and everything that filled them. Following the creation was the fall of man with Adam and Eve bringing sin and death upon the earth and themselves. God made a covering for them indicating that it was only through the blood of a substitute that they could approach God. Man continued to sin and God brought severe judgement upon the earth through the flood in which the whole earth was wiped out except for Noah and his family and through the tower of Babel in which He divided the people into different nations by changing their languages and causing confusion amongst them. God was planning to provide redemption for humankind and chose one family to work through and provide knowledge of Himself and His salvation through. He chose Abraham (formally Abram) and his family. The simmering rivalry came to a head when Jacob tricked Esau out of his birthright, and then tricked Isaac into giving him the blessing he d intended to give Esau. Enraged, Esau vowed to kill Jacob. When they finally met again Jacob was ready to completely submit to Esau, but when they saw each other, Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. (Genesis 33:4) Esau comes across as callous and uncaring, easily outwitted regarding what might naturally be his, desiring more a satisfied present than a secure future. And on the other hand, Jacob is presented as a clever and opportunistic individual, who knows what he wants. He takes advantage of a brother in need. (Abingdon, 522) Essentially, the story of the rivalry between Jacob and Esau is one in which the Scriptures show the importance of forgiveness. Esau forgave his brother, and they were reconciled. This relates to many families today, for children are often competitive, especially brothers, and should heed the example set by Esau. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. The Issue of the Commonwealth s Spending Pattern Intro The issue of the Commonwealths spending power?????. The recent High Court decision of Williams s v Commonwealth [2012] , saw the introduction of significant changes to this area, and the forthcoming Williams v Commonwealth No 2 , currently before the High Court, will likely see issue further developed. The debate surrounding this area has to do with the fact that in addition to the legislative heads of power in sections 51 and 52 of the constitution, there are a number of other constitutional provisions which the federal government has attempted to use as a source of Commonwealth spending power. The two most frequently cited examples being the section 81 Appropriations power and the section 61 Executive power. In considering both of these sections the High Court has come to the conclusion that the scope of the spending powers should be limited. This essay will argue the position that the High Court is justified in this approach and, with reference to the various principles of interpretation set out by the High Court and the notions of Federalism and Responsible Government, will show that limiting the Commonwealths spending powers, outside of the legislative heads of power and the grants power in section 96 is both constitutionally valid and necessary for the democratic process in Australia. The question is asked should the commonwealth be able to spend its money on anything it feels like including or should it be limited to expenditure on topics related to ... • 39. Truman Capote s The Last To See Them Alive According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, the term fiction is defined as written stories about people and events that are not real. Within this genre, there are six main subgenres romance, mystery, western, historical, horror, and science fiction (Vaughn). These subgenres can help define the author s purpose of particular pieces of literature. This is true for the first vignette of Truman Capote s famous book In Cold Blood, titled The Last to See Them Alive . The writing in this section shows how country living is in Holcomb, Kansas while telling the story of the killers, Dick and Perry, on their way to murder the lovable Clutters. The title of this book and vignette make it seem as if Capote s purpose was to write a mystery novel. However, this is proven wrong almost immediately after he describes the vivid setting of Holcomb. He reveals the identity of the murderers, leaving no guessing for the reader as to who committed the horrific crime. In other words, his purpose is not to write a mystery novel, but to describe in detail a cryptic murder in small town Holcomb, Kansas. On top of that, this novel was far from fiction. Capote immersed himself into this novel, getting all the facts and details to stay true to the Clutter family while revealing the mindset and motivations of the ... Adhd Research Paper 1 TERM RESEARCH PAPER ON ATTENTION DEFICIT/HYPERACTIVITY DISORDER Introduction Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder ( ADHD ) is a common childhood disorder that represents developmentally inappropriate levels of inattention, impulsivity and overactivity. It occurs in 3% to 5% of the school age population as stated by (Craighead, Craighead, Kazdin Mahoney, 1994). Another author (Barkley, 1981) stated that ADHD occurs in at least one child in every classroom. As a result of these statistics, ADHD has become one of the most commonly referred and heavily studied psychological disorders of childhood. Some major causal variables that have been identified are categorised as neurological factors, toxic reactions, genetic linkages and environmental factors. However, most of the available evidence found, points to neurological factors, which are imbalances of neurotransmitters in the brain, and genetic variables as the primary causes of ADHD. The environmental factors and toxic reactions (such as lead exposure and food additives) are considered very minimal causes of ADHD. The search for causes of ADHD continues. There are many variables which are biological or thought to have an affect on biological functioning. Assessment of ADHD An evaluation of a child with ADHD includes multiple assessment techniques. The main goals of the assessment are: 1. to gather information about the developmental deviance of ADHD symptoms or other behavioural problems. 2. to rule out other psychiatric, learning or emotional problems that may be causing inattention, impulsivity, and/or overactivity. 3. to determine the degree of consistency between the sources and across situations with respect to reports of behaviours associated with ADHD. 4. to identify and prioritise targets for intervention. We have seen so far about 12 chapters and by the end of the semester, we would have cover 16 chapters. Although all chapters were very educational, chapters seven and eight were the most interesting to me. The human skeleton has about 206 major bones; it is divided into two parts, the axial skeleton which forms the longitudinal or central core and the appendicular skeleton, which forms the limbs and the bones that connect them to the body. Chapter seven educated us about the axial skeleton. According to our textbook, the axial skeleton has 80 bones. Our book divided these 80 bones into, the skull, which is subdivided into 18 cranial bones and 14 facial bones; bones associated with the skull, which are 6 auditory ossicles and the hyoid bone; the vertebral column subdivided into 24 vertebrae, the sacrum and the coccyx and the thoracic cage, which are 24 ... Another interesting bone that is part of the skull, but more specifically the cranium, is the spenoid bone. Because this bone articulates with all the other cranial bones, it is also known as keystone of the cranial floor. On the spenoid bone we find the sella turcica, and within the sella turcica, it s found the hypophyseal fossa, which has the pituitary gland (217). Gilgamesh presumed that if he executed the imposing Humbaba, the citizens of Uruk would gaze upon him with astonishment and awe. He yearned for his name to surpass his demise so that all would know the glorious king of Uruk who defeated the fearsome Humbaba. Gilgamesh blatantly disregards nature and its beauty in his conquest to slay the monstrous Humbaba. Nature has been long forgotten and demolished by beings who do not understand nor value its beauty. Humbaba was delegated by Enlil to be entrusted with the forest to keep human beings whose only desire was to log the luscious trees that thrived within the woodland. He was viewed by the majority as a ferocious beast that bestowed fear in all. In contrast to that, we see near the end of book V that Humbaba may not be as malicious as he was portrayed. He even begs for his life, saying that if they spare him, then he will become their personal slave. This makes Gilgamesh have a moment of contemplation on whether or not he should end Humbaba s life. However, this moment is quickly terminated by Enkidu as he encourages Gilgamesh to continue with his mission. • 43. Summary Of Convergence Of The Twain Convergence of the Twain The Titanic, born from human greed and wed to fate s punishment, is a modern icon of decadence. However, Hardy re imagines this icon in his poem The Convergence of the Twain. Instead of an explicit critique of the ship s ostentatious vanity, Hardy sees The Titanic s sinking as the judgment for its vaingloriousness and a product of the ship s conception, development, and wedding to fate. The poem s organization emphasizes a contrast between different states of the ship s existence. In fact, the author answers how the ship came to being sunk as the poem progresses. The ship, which came Deep from human vanity/ And the pride of Life that planned her , falls out of grace In a solitude of the sea . After the source of its vitality is engulfed by death ( Steel chambers, late the pyres/ Of her salamandrine fires ) , the ship finds itself in an underwater hell where Cold currents thrid, and turn to rhythmic tidal lyres , and grotesque, slimed, dumb, indifferent creatures profanate what were once Jewels in joy designed . An inhabitant of this hellish habitat, seeing this gloriousness in vain in such a deprecated state, asks: What is this doing here? The speaker answers this question by describing how destiny prepared a sinister mate... A shape of Ice, for the time far and dissociate and how In shadowy silent distance grew the Iceberg too... as the smart ship grew In stature, grace, and hue . Then, the ship and the iceberg finally converge being anon twin halves of one august event at the discretion of destiny, also known as The Spinner of the Years . The organization of the poem implies a metaphysical statement; fate is the master of all, and servant of none. It doesn t matter how Deep from human vanity or how many Jewels in joy designed characterize mankind s power; It is all under the jurisdiction of fate. Imagery provides Hardy a vehicle to define essential aspects of the relationship between mankind and nature. • 49. Examples Of Food And Nutrition In The Elizabethan Era Foods and Nutritional Practices of the Elizabethan Era By Davril B. The Elizabethan Era was very ironic in terms of status and nutrition of the rich and poor as the rich were known to have worse health than the poor and common people. Which asks the question, what are the differences between the nutrition health, and table/food manners between the poor/common people and rich? Since the rich has more money which leads to a bigger variety of selections and the poor and common peoples did not, what are the reasons for this outcome? Just like today, food mannerisms and culinary practices are still quite alike to the Elizabethan Era. For example, they washed their hands thoroughly before eating and they ate 3 meals a day, breakfast in the early morning, dinner/lunch at midday and supper during the evening. Just like how there are some traditions where people eat fish on Fridays or Sundays, there was a law where fish had to be eaten on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. There wasn t a religion or tradition that was the reason to eating fish on those days, it was solely for the reason of supporting the fishing companies and if a law is broken the consequence would be up to 3 months in jail. Important manners of the rich were the seating at a table, as they would be sitting in a U shaped formation where the people of the lowest honor would sit at the bottom at the table and the higher honors would sit at the top.
