Essay on Jerry Sandusky Case
Naomi Abreu
Currently in the news, there is a major event that pertains to the topic of the psychology of trauma.
This event is the investigation of Jerry Sandusky and his alleged conviction of sexual abuse. Jerry
Sandusky, an assistant football coach at Penn State University, has been accused of sexually abusing
boys in the basement of his home and in the school workout room and locker room. This investigation
was triggered by one of the victims who went to the police and since then, more victims have come
out as well. This boy stated that the attacks lasted for about four years. Jerry Sandusky met the boys
though a foundation he started to help at risk youths in 1977 called The Second Mile. So far there

However, I would have to agree with the first half and say that Joe Paterno s actions were inadequate.
Although Joe Paterno reported what he saw to the Penn State president his responsibility shouldn t
have ended there. Yes, he fulfilled his obligation to report any illegal actions on campus but when the
Penn State President chose not to take legal action Paterno should have made the moral decision and
had gone to the authorities. Legally, he fulfilled his obligation and therefore no longer holds any
responsibility in the eyes of the legal system. In the eyes of morality though, his responsibility in the
matter was not over just because he reported it to who he was supposed to. This major problem should
have been dealt with a long time ago. It s just a moral obligation that Joe Paterno should have acted
upon. So yes I feel he deserved to be fired. Everyone who knew about it should have reported it to
legal authorities. His great athletic achievements and mutual respect should have pushed towards the
issue being resolved and not swept under the rug for it to come out years after and now resulting in
him being fired. Every action has a reaction and in this case the reaction is due to Paternos lack of
action.
The child sex abuse scandal overall is a public relations disaster that the university is likely to be
dealing with for years to come. I definitely don t believe this case was

Devolution In The UK
Devolution allocates central powers and levels of governance within a state to share decision making.
In the United Kingdom changes in the government structure had an impact in planning policy and
their function; from the devolving creation of the Welsh Assembly and Scottish parliament due to the
unification of England, Wales, and Scotland. The election of New Labour in 1997 facilitated
devolution and it created a pressure to establish distinctive and more culturally aligned policies.
Economic globalization and the growing wish to increase economical competition have driven regions
and urban areas to improve their status, requiring the planning system to reorientate their role, calling
the national power into question.

However, all of them have taken spatial planning out of the hands of the national government into a
local and regional level; with many of their priorities being similar, like education and health.
However, we can see the differences in the policy styles and the way public services are managed and
delivered. Devolution creates benefits and disadvantages in spatial planning. Local and regional
authorities are aware of the needs of each of their own regions, able to create better solutions. The
Scottish parliament let to an improvement in spatial planning policy and practice, providing a more
strategic approach (Allmendinger, 2002). Devolution in Scotland improved performance in the
economy and the public services. Scotland policy making is more consensual; there is the need of
consultation and negotiation with groups and networks. The Scottish Parliament has been focusing in
improving public involvement, focusing on all levels of planning. Scotland has been experiencing a
decline in sovereignty and autonomy due to economic and social policies. Polls over the years have
shown that, while few voters think that devolution has done any harm, most feel that it has made little
difference (Allmendinger, 2002); meaning that the support of devolution remains high. However, is
difficult to judge the effect of devolution on public policies. Scottish planning prioritizes sustainable
development supporting

Moldova’s Economy
I. Introduction: As one of the former republics of the Soviet Union, Moldova is among a group of
countries in central Europe that is in the process of transitioning economy from a planned to a market
economy. Over the years, Moldova has adopted free market policies that are believed to lead the
country on a path of economic growth and freedom. Transition economists agree to a number of things
involved in the transition process, that countries in this category must embark on, to ensure full
transition to a market economy. This process calls forth a drastic restructuring of institutions. As such,
Ukraine has adopted policies aimed at this goal. Despite such progressive efforts, the rate of growth
has been disappointing compared to that of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This does not seem to agree with the most recent data. There were also certain expectations that
remain and show in many developing countries; these include the advantages of the law of larger
numbers and that of marginal productivity of capital, which tends to be higher in developing countries.
This is considering its original absence or inadequacy. Capital was thus expected to flow from rich to
poor countries since it seeks higher rates of return, thus convergence. Some policies Moldova can
adopt if they are to successfully attract foreign savings could be the following: The country could
make more efforts to liberalize the financial sector, making it more open to growth and reform rather
than allow stringent cultural or other restrictions to run it with no progress. This should attract foreign
investors with accordance to growth potential. Moldova s government could engage in policies that
will see increases in per capita income. As income increases, savings also increase. Evidence of
increased savings and investments should serve to draw in more foreign savings. In addition, the
country s government could also pursue policies to ensure economic stability. This lowers investment
and savings risk in the system. Moldova s government could also run continuous budget surpluses to
avert recession and maintain growth, which would certainly attract foreign savings. Finally, the
country may also engage in policies

Analyzing Changes in Education
We ve come a long way, baby! Over the past 100 years of public education in the great state of
Alabama, changes in education have been literally fought for by blood, sweat and tears. However,
with the desegregation issues from 1964 closed for the past 50 years, state legislatures still find plenty
of arguments concerning public education reforms. Most of these arguments, though, are essentially
concerns about federal control over state. Thanks to several federal acts, such as the Civil Rights Act
of 1964 and the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) of 1965 the students of Alabama
schools are all getting a better education. Just by these two acts, ... Show more content on

1). Unfortunately, because of prejudice beliefs, several private schools in Alabama were formed after
integration took place. Today, the teachers ethical dispositions, for the most part, are as they should be
in showing no discrimination toward any students they are teaching.
Common Core Standards While the ESEA made no requirements for core academic subjects, the No
Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB), reauthorized the 1965 act. No significant academic criterion
requirements were required federally under the NCLB. The act required each state to set their own
standards for achievement in the standardized testing. NCLB did, however, emphasize core academics
standards to include reading, language arts, math and science for assessment of all students to receive
federal funds. In 2012, President Obama allotted NCLB waivers to states that agreed to raise
standards, improve accountability, and undertake essential reforms to improve teacher effectiveness,
(NCLB, Wikipedia, ref. 107). Alabama s waiver initiated the states adoption of the international Core
Curriculum along with their own Alabama College and Career Ready Standards which includes
English Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies (ACCR, par.1). According to Alabama
Board of Education superintendent Dr. Tommy Bice, Incorporating the Common Core Standards into
our already highly regarded content standards brings a new level of rigor and perceptual

Buddhism On Indian Society Essay
How Has Buddhism Influenced Indian Society, Education, and Political System?
Buddhism, which emerged in ancient India (The Kingdom of Magadha) has a substantial impact on
Indian social, educational and political life. Although Buddhism could not be a primary religion due to
the dominance of Hinduism, it still played a considerable role. Buddhism in India, was not confined to
only ritual, ethical or social practice ; it drove a new world view that involves different perspectives of
the life (Wickramasinghe, 2009, p. 24). Buddhism provided a nascent morality framework bringing
equality, justice, and prosperity to the society that was suffering from religious manipulation. People,
who were exhausted from unjust system emerged from doctrines of Hinduism, willingly accepted
Buddhism, which brought equality, education, and democracy to the Indian society.
I. Equality
a. Social Dimension: In this paragraph, we will shed a light on the social effect of Buddhism in India.
Buddhism can be referred as a new outlook in ancient Indians life: it changed Vanna system, which
determined the society according to various grades (Banerjee, 2007, p. 5). During the revival of
Buddhism, the Indian society was divided into four groups, which were Khatiyya, Brahmana, Vessa
and Sudda. Brahmans enjoyed superiority on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Buddhism, if science uncovers some facts against the teaching of Buddhism, Buddhism will adjust
itself to the new discoveries of science. Accordingly, science and Buddhism do not contradict each
other but they accomplish each other in a great harmony. (Harvey, 2013) Monasteries (vihares) were
the main educational centers during Buddhist period, which later turned into big universities.
Admission to vihares was not limited to monks, but anyone who would like to attain education.

Sergei Eisenstein s Bonnie And Clyde
Sergei Eisenstein s film theory often reflects on the capabilities of allowing film editing to create the
essence of the scenes. With the work of Arthur Penn s Bonnie and Clyde viewers see aspects of the
formalist concepts while comparing Eisenstein interpretation of artistic cinematography. In Eisenstein
Cinematic Principle and Ideogram Dialectical Approach the article discusses the way cinematographic
traits help revolutionize the way we view different forms graphically. The article maintains that
cinematography is simply a montage of scenes in frames timed together to create a picturesque feel
that is often left open to interpret by the viewer. The form of the film will associate different
dimensions to an object that is used to be the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Viewers can see that she is naive, unhappy and pondering her decision to leave home, which is rather
difficult or seen as predictable to express verbally in her room alone. She is also naked in this that
delivers a sense of innocence and adolescence or wanting to experience adulthood. What is
particularly interesting is how Penn uses the bed rails as a prop in this scene as a cinematographic
convention. Penn creates a depictive metaphor about the character physical state when Bonnie holds
onto the rails and looks out solemnly like a prisoner. Viewers can see that she is trapped in a life that is
not stimulating, and that she is longing for some sort of excitement. When the camera zooms in to an
extreme close up of her eyes viewers can see the sudden change of somber to slight curiosity that
cinematography delivers skillfully in the scene. When editing images together that create their own
meanings allows the film to depend on what one sees visually on the screen. This is the purpose of
Eisenstein theory, to allow room for the viewer to develop their own intellectual context from the

The Los Angeles County Federation Of Labor Essay
The start of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor Student s Name Institutional Affiliation
Abstract The Los Angeles County Federation of Labor is a regional labor organization in the state of
Los Angeles that has evolved representation of the interests of workers to include political
involvement. Its formation was a function of political influence in labor and the relevance of merging
labor movements to have better representations and high compulsion among leaders (Dean et al.,
2009). The Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, as the name suggests, is a composite labor body
formed after the merging of all labor bodies in Los Angeles. The start of the Los Angeles County
Federation of Labor Los Angeles County Federation of Labor is a federation of Los Angeles labor
organization in 1957(Dean et al., 2009). Its formation was a direct response to trends in merging of
organizations representing the interests of workers all over the US. The Los Angeles County
Federation of Labor was an improvement of the earlier Los Angeles Council of Labor and the
formation enabled involvement in regional and national politics after the emergence of politics as an
important influence of labor movements(Dean et al., 2009). Initially, in the late 19th century, labor
organizations were not as organized as they are today. In Los Angeles, there was a federation of labor
parties that was officially organized by five different unions. The different unions

Ballot Format Or Ordering Of Candidate Names Should Not Be...
When candidates stand for an election the ballot format or ordering of candidate names should not
have an impact on the outcome of an election. For democracy to prosper candidates should be
competing on a fair level playing field i.e. One candidate should not have an advantage over another.
Secondly, the most popular candidate preferred by those voting should win the election. The article
BallotMaps aims to find out if the position of a candidate s name on the ballot paper influences the
number of votes received by the candidate within their party, independently of their party and weather
this varies geographically. Furthermore, another aspect that was explored was the ethnicity of
candidates and weather their name contributes to any name ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Secondly, we would need to seek an alternative way on how to conduct elections I.e. How people vote
or the layout of ballots so that a fair level playing field exists.
Two statistics were calculated, these were the Chi statistic and the residual; The Chi statistic assess the
degree of name order bias and was calculated to give an indication as to the disparity in votes acquired
by candidates relating to issues other than party affiliation as: X = (obs exp)/√exp
Where OBS stands for actual votes received by candidate and EXP stands for the expected number of
votes which should in theory be one third of the total party votes. For example if labour was to receive
120 votes then in theory each of the 3 candidates representing labour should all receive 40 votes each.
Thus if a positive value of X i.e. 40 signals that the candidate received more than the expected number
of votes if only political party was assumed to influence candidate votes, whilst a negative value i.e.
40 indicate fewer than expected votes were received. The residual identifies candidates that have
greater or fewer votes than predicted given their party affiliation having taken into account any name
order bias. It is calculated as the difference between the percentage of party votes received by a
candidate and that expected for an average candidate with the

The Mystery Of The Stonehenge

The Mysterious Stonehenge The Stonehenge, built thousands of years ago, is a mystery to us all. How
did it get there? Who built it and why? Was it aliens that brought this here? Everyone has questions
and theories regarding this amazing structure. Through rigorous research and countless unearthing s,
of forgotten stones and even human remains, people have always been insanely curious as to how
these stones were placed, why, and by who. The mystery of the Stonehenge is just that, a mystery.
With an abundant amount of history behind these stones, it is something to be discussed for ages. So
how did these stones appear? With no modern technology such as cranes and other machinery to lift
the immensely heavy stones, it s no wonder scientists are still stumped to this day. It is believed to
have been once used as a burial ground and also a place for worship. Some archeologists believe that
Stonehenge the mysterious arrangement of enormous elongated stones in England is actually a crude
effort by the Druids to build a computing device. (David Berry). Other scientists believe it was the
Neolithic and Bronze age people of southern Britain, who inhabited the chalk lands. I believe that
unless we have someone who was around during that time or we have written documentation of what
happened and how the stones were placed, we will truly never know how this amazing structure was
built. What we have discovered

Compare And Contrast Snow White And Ravenna
By fairest blood it is done, by fairest blood it is undone Snow white and the huntsman is the battle

tale of the orphaned princess, Snow White (Kristen Stewart), and her escape from her step mother and
evil Queen Ravenna (Charlize Theron). From the producers of Alice and the Wonderland, An Evil
Queen, Ravenna, tricks, seduces, and kills the king; she takes the kingdom and rules with intimidation
and magic. She draws her life force and youth from magic which is fuelled by the draining of other

Unlike the role she played in twilight, she has no other main characters to hold her up. She drains the
personality from Snow White in addition to the lack of importance felt in her character. This is
predominantly seen in the fight to the death scene with Snow White and Ravenna. While Theron oozes
fire and elegance, Stuart can t seem to capture a believable character. Snow White is supposed to be
innocence and humility in contrast to the Queens magic and pride. Her sharp angled face, greasy
voice, and empty facial expressions she was a flawed choice by the directors. Drunk, bitter and half
dead. The gorgeous Chris Hemsworth plays the in between of life and death as the Huntsman. Once
being a small point in the original brothers Grimm fairy tale, Hemsworth s huntsman has created a
new take on the contrast between the two main roles. This is greatly shown when he is pulled out of a
dirty tub of water with a hangover and a debt and he is brought to the queen s throne. When the queen
s guards draw spears against him he says Do me the favour, I beg of you. He can t stand to be alive
because the Queens magic killed his wife for her youth. Finn tells the Huntsman She screamed your

Feminist Criticism Of Virginity In The Works Of William...
In this Critical Review, I will talk about the taboo of Virginity which regulated female sexuality in the
age of Shakespeare. Tracing the developments in the Feminist Criticism of Shakespeare, I will discuss
the various allusions which Shakespeare employed to describe virginity in his plays. I will conclude
by presenting the contemporary view of feminist criticism ofShakespeare.
Jean E. Howard analyses a brief history of development of Feminist Criticism within Shakespeare
Studies. Feminist Criticism of Shakespeare changed the landscape in Shakespeare studies. Feminists
analysed the portrayal of women characters in each genre, focusing on the patriarchal norms and
gender stereotypes that shaped these representations. However, in the 1970s and early 1980s, the first
goal was to change the questions one could ask of Shakespeare s plays and to put issues such as
gender and sexuality on the critical agenda. The 1980s, however, saw a new emphasis on historicising
the particular gender system within which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

assumes quite the opposite. Shakespeare s Society is taken to be oppressively chauvinistic ...

Likewise, in initiation ceremonies, boys are circumcised as well as subincised, and the first
ceremonies of initiation, with the use of #8216;bullroarers #8217;, are intended to make them

Arunda tribe, was designed to cause the male organ to resemble the vulva, and that the effusion of
blood was regarded as serving the same function as menstruation, which in the female enabled her
naturally to dispose of the evil that accumulate in the body. To continue the same effect, males

public indoor areas should have been imposed a long time ago.
Those criticizing the ban claim that smoking poses no immediate danger to people nearby. However,

Business owners of catering industries and entertainment venues express their concerns that such a
ban would unavoidably discourage smokers from patronizing and they claim they should be exempted
from the ban. However, the argument they make is groundless. If there is a universal ban in all public
places with no exception, there will be little effect on those businesses as long as smokers still have to
dine out and still have to relax themselves in bars, karaokes or discos. It is simply ridiculous to assume
that all smokers will stop going to these places! Moreover, the ban should be imposed on all public
indoor places with no exceptions. Non smokers are everywhere! Why should we ignore the non
smoker in any place? The health of non smoker in all places should by no means be neglected.
Smokers also insist that it is their freedom to smoke and it is nobody business once they are willing to
take the risks of smoking. True, they have the freedom to sacrifice their precious lives in exchange for
the short term enjoyment smoking gives them, but it is only when they do so privately, i.e. at home!
While smokers claim that they have the right to smoke, we must recognize that non smokers also have
their freedom to enjoy fresh air. Isn t it egotistic to assume that the health of non smokers should be

The Importance Of Cheating In Sports
The lamentable fact is that sometimes cheaters do prosper and no one seems to care. I do. Bending or
breaking the rules only creates worthless victories. From sports to taxes, cheating has the new norm in
our lives. People who are good at cheating gain prestige and respect for working smarter, not harder,
but that is immoral and a fallacy. Cheaters devalue the efforts of those who came before and those
who will follow them in any particular field. This willingness to cheat reverberates through most
sports. My goal, as an athlete, is to be a paragon of good sportsmanship and not cheat. To win through
hard work and effort without cheating is the most important moral principle in my life.
Running is my sport of choice and the focus of many elements in my life. There are ample
opportunities to cheat in a running event. You can use chemical enhancers such as amphetamines or
steroids. This has been the downfall of many top performing athletes, resulting in disgrace and the
removal of their names from coveted pinnacles like various Halls of Fame and Olympic
championships. A personal incident came at our third High School track meet in 2016. I was able to
come from behind and surpass several teammates after an illness had slowed down my training. Hard
work helped me improve my times after I became well. Seeding, or where you start a race, can make a
difference in performance and illness hurt my seeding. Seed Times come from the best personal time
of a season. I noticed

communication than ever before. However, the creation of the cellphone not only allowed people to
connect with one another, but it allowed them to stay in touch with each other more often and not
grow distant. As a result, it can be said that new advances in technology opens channels of
communication and gives people valuable assets they can use to learn, which in return gives people
the skill needed to communicate effectively. People then adapt to these accessible ways and ever
increase their connectivity with the rest of the world. Overall, with new technology people can now

The San Fernando Mission Cemetery
Death is a subject we tend to shy away from, but why? It s a natural occurrence that happens all the
time, and it s something we cannot avoid. At least once in our lives we will attend a funeral, but how
many times will we visit the diseased once they are gone? A cemetery is a burial ground where those
who have passed away lay to rest for the rest of eternity, and it gives their loved ones a place to go and
visit them.
The San Fernando Mission Cemetery is a Catholic cemetery located in Mission Hills, ironically, right
across the street from a hospital. It is owned and operated by the Los Angeles Archdiocese and was
established in the year 1800. The cemetery provides several services including burials, entombments,
and cremations. For ground burials, they offer options such as traditional burials and lawn crypts
which can be single or double, and then there are family monuments and family estates that can fit two
to sixteen people. For mausoleum services, which hold the casket aboveground, they offer single and
double crypts (Catholic Cemeteries LA). There are a number of sections in the cemetery that have
different themes with a corresponding centerpiece. People are able to choose a theme based on
religion or characteristics they deem fitting.
This cemetery specifically is a Catholic cemetery, which makes it different from others. The people
who own it, as well as the people who use their services, believe in certain notions

Reconstruction Dbq Essay
Reconstruction DBQ After the Civil War, the era of reconstruction was a time for America to try
restructure and rebuild itself. To the United States demise, not much was actually reconstructed nor
bettered concerning the lives of American citizens. The main cause of a somewhat failed attempt at
reconstruction was the South, also known as the Confederates. Due to their recession towards slavery
and dehumanization of African Americans, the South was the killer of reconstruction. The most
prominent cause of the Civil War regarded the treatment of African Americans. The North fought to
end slavery and consider blacks equal to whites and on the contrary, the South fought to continue
slavery and keep the traditional practices used considering the treatment of blacks. Finishing
victorious, the North tried their best to enforce humane treatment towards African Americans yet the
South merely pushed these laws to the side. Consequently, the South came up with their ... Show more

Essay on Summary of The Book of Hosea
In this book, there is an ongoing story of adultery, fornication, and betrayal between God and Israel
portrayed through the relationship between the prophet Hosea, and his wife Gomer. There are a few
different views on the actual relationship between Hosea and Gomer, the first of which is that Gomer
was already a harlot when Hosea took her as his wife. This one I would think is the most widely
accepted, simply because it s the literal description of the book, and people tend to lean towards literal
definitions more frequently than not, just look at how people of the world have torn apart the book of
Revelation! The second view is that Gomer was a harlot, but was only adulterous after getting
married. Those who believe this say that she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gomer cheated on the prophet many times just as the nation of Israel cheated on their God with other
insignificant gods. Hosea provided for his wife the best way he could, and treated her the best way he
could, and received nothing but betrayal on her part. God, the same way, did nothing but provide for
His people, His wife. He cared for them in every way He could, and they still betrayed Him at every
turn. Hosea is a book telling of the judgment that is to come against them as a nation, and what is
required of them to come back to God. At the point of writing this book, it is already too late, and the
nation can do nothing to stay the wrath of God against them. God did everything He could for them,
even as it is said in 13:11, God gave them a king in His anger, going against what He wanted for them,
just to make them happy. In the end however, we see that God took their king away in His wrath. The
nation as a whole is to be captured, and they will no longer have a king like they had before. Their
glory will be taken away because of their sinfulness and rebellion towards God. This is one of the
longer minor prophets, having 14 chapters, most of which are dealing strictly with the ungodliness of
Israel as a nation, but the final chapter seems to me that Israel did change their ways and repent to
some extent. We do see that God will forgive them, but that does not mean that the consequences for

Essay On Air Defense Artillery
Air defense artillery (ADA) units date back to the dawn of this country s history when the colonists
erected fortifications and emplaced artillery pieces to defend against attack from the sea. Little did
they know, this new innovative way of combat would evolve and change the front lines forever.
Through World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam, air defense artillery units served as an
indispensable part of the armed forces of the United States. It gave the Army a tactical advantage and
allowed ground troops to move more efficiently, by protecting them from above. The Air Defense
Artillery branch of the US Army specializes in anti aircraft weapons. In the Army, these groups are
composed of many air defense systems such as the Patriot Missile System, Terminal High Altitude

Horse Environmental Changes
The environmental changes that took place throughout history caused species of animals to adapt to
the changing conditions. One such animal where this is especially apparent is the evolution of the
horse. In order to survive, horses evolved traits such as longer limbs, rigid teeth and others that
allowed them the best chance of survival. Overall, it is apparent that the morphology of the horse
changed due to environmental conditions, especially when studying the fossilized teeth, jaws, and
limbs. One of the earliest horse species is known as Hyracotherium. It is believed that this species did
not live on open grasslands like modern horses but instead, lived in thick, closed canopy forests. As
we saw in lab, the teeth of Hyracotherium are rather pointed which indicates that the species was a
browser of leaves and fruits in forests. Its small skull and rostrum also leads one to believe that it had
a diet of these easily chewable foods found in closed canopy forests. In contrast, the modern horse has
very flat rigid teeth which indicates the species is a grazer of grass. In class, one of the trends we
observed was that phalange number decreased over time (Lab Data). An organism with more
phalanges typically exhibits better dexterity, balance, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

metatarsal decreased in length compared to the central metatarsal. Another trend we saw was that the
central metatarsal increased in length over the course of history (Lab Data). This would further allow
for increased speed, but less

Measuring Academic Procrastination in Australian...
Procrastination is an important individual difference construct that affects many areas of life, from
health care (delaying important medical visits or exercise) to finance (dealing with financial troubles
like credit card debt), to academic arenas. Procrastination, has been defined as the act of needlessly
delaying tasks to the point of experiencing subjective discomfort or putting off that which is necessary
to reach some goal (Lay, 1986, p474). Procrastination has been associated with maladaptive
behaviours and outcomes including anxiety, depression, stress, illness and low self efficacy
(Schouwenburg, 1995; Klassen, 2008). Academic procrastination, a unique form of procrastination,
has had minimal research compared to other psychological constructs. And as far as the author is
aware there has been no research on academic procrastination in the Australian University context. A
reliable scale measuring academic procrastination in Australian undergraduate students is needed for
the purpose of research in to theoretical foundations of academic procrastination, who procrastinates,
the reasons why, the implications, and so as to advance understanding of this construct. In a meta
analytic and theoretical review of procrastination, it was estimated that between 80 95% of
undergraduates experience problematic academic procrastination, with up to 30% experiencing severe
procrastination (Steel, 2007). Considering the effect of procrastination on the general, work and

Impact of Globalization on Total Quality Management
Introduction Total quality management (TQM) has been defined as continuous improvement of every
production output whether it be a product or a service, by removing inefficient variations and by
improving the backbone of the work process . International managers like their domestic counterparts
have found that incorporating the notion of total quality management into their management process
and style can give the competitive advantage.
A manager s decision making process regarding new or increased international operations involves
reacting to the environment, seeking competitive advantage globally and assessing the company s
capability in the global context.
Globalization makes managers ask certain questions. These questions include: ... Show more content

Even though some of outcomes of globalization have been controversial, the market has become more
competitive than ever, thus creating the high demand for quality management.
The fact that globalization has expanded the market for organizations means that TQM is more
important than ever before. Customer demands are higher and if a company does not create products
and services that meet their expectations they can easily access the same or similar products and
services from another company. If managers do not implement TQM into their company procedure
then they will fail to meet the high standards of customers all over the world and eventually lose their
business. When it comes to implementing TQM, it s the mangers responsibility to create an
environment where people can work together to improve their work processes. If the ownership or
senior management does not buy into this concept you will never succeed. Many people in leadership
roles are either too set in their ways or closed minded to the necessary change needed to really
improve the way things get done. You have to buy into the concept that there is always a better way to
do something. By tapping into all the knowledge and experience your employees possess, you develop
solutions that not only improve your execution, you provide everyone with a sense of

Factors Affecting The Supreme Court Decision Process

case that the Supreme Court takes on varies on many different factors, which must go into
consideration prior to them choosing a case. The first step in the decision process of the Supreme

The poem opens with the line Hope is the thing with feather. In this line, persona associated hope and
bird and made a metaphor. Then it follows like this, That perches in the soul/ And sings the tune
without words/ And never stops at all. In these lines, persona thinks that hope is like a singing bird,
even though sometimes it doesn t speak to us, eternally it will stay permanent in us. Also by
mentioning, hope as a permanent thing in inside of us, allows us to acquire most of what life gives to
us. The second stanza creates some kind of opposition for the hope, and in this stanza persona
metaphorically describe a person, who destroys his/her hope. By saying, And sore must be the
storm/That could abash the little bird/ That kept so many warm, persona used an impressive metaphor
by associating storm with anger and negativity. The storm abash the bird (hope) and cause pain and
discomfort hurts it. In the fourth stanza, with the following line which is I ve heard it in the chilliest
lands, persona tried to make her reader to believe in hope, she tried to convince that hope is
everywhere. In the last two lines, Yet never in extremity/ It asked a crumb of me , persona mentioned
that hope is a gift that doesn t exist for

The Topic of Defiance of Societal Rules in The Stranger...
All societies have societal norms and rules that citizens are expected to follow. Those who don t, are
either labeled as defiant or as a non conformist. One who defies societal rules doesn t necessarily
disobey deliberately, but rather because one s own beliefs don t parallel. In the novel The Stranger by
Albert Camus there is a prevalence of characters breaking societal rules, but as a result these
characters face the consequences. Albert Camus connects these actions to the overarching themes of
the books in order to convey his message more effectively. To what extent does the topic of defiance
of societal rules in The Stranger convey the theme of Absurdism in the novel? The sub themes of
femininity, individuality, and isolation connect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Meursault isolates himself from the lifestyle that the society attempts to condition him, but this
pressure from society isn t understood by him. One will not realize that they are breaking societal
rules if they are entrapped into a world of their own and believe that that world is perfectly fine the
way it is.
The sub theme of femininity is prevalent throughout the novel, however it is much more minor
compared to the larger ideas Albert Camus shares. Femininity is a theme that goes hand in hand with
Absurdism throughout the novel. It is through Meursault s indifference to love and women that this
theme becomes present. It is not a directly expressed much like the others. Not only Meursault
expresses this, but also Raymond. At the point in the novel after Raymond finds that his girlfriend
cheated on him and used Meursault to write the letter, Raymond shares with Meursault the actions he
took upon his girlfriend as if it were a righteous act. Raymond had smacked her around. And then I
told her exactly what I thought of her. I told her that all she was interested in was getting into the sack.
... He d beaten her till she bled....What bothered him was that he still had sexual feelings for her.
(Camus 34) And the mere fact that Raymond only had sexual feelings shows the lack in value of
women. Meursault also shares this attitude towards women, specifically

Literary Analysis Of The World On The Turtle s Back
The World on the Turtle s Back is a myth passed down from one generation of Iroquois to the next.
Throughout the passage the author uses specific literary elements and style to explain the creation of
the world through the eyes of the Iroquois tribe. The story begins with a man who has a pregnant wife
and continues to further with the woman s cravings and desires. Within this description the author uses
his or her individual style and chooses to capitalize two phrases Sky World and Great Tree . When
capitalizing phrases that grammatically do not need to be capitalized it gives the phrase significance.
In the case of Sky World and Great Tree these objects are made to stand out to the reader, in order to
show that they are important for the continuation of this story or they have a deeper meaning. The
Great Tree was styled in this manner to present how sacred it was to these gods and goddesses. As the
story progresses the woman s cravings reach a point at which she desired some bark from the Great
Tree. However as stated before in the passage, the tree was not supposed to be marked or mutilated by
any of the beings who dwelt in the Sky World . The women decided that she wanted some bark
proving that she made a conscious choice to violate the rules. This is a representation of how the
Iroquois view women. How dare she, as a woman, decide to do anything without the authorization of
a man. When she asked her husband to retrieve the bark he denied her request,

The Australian Government s Action Under The Asiatic Act
I have been asked to advise Summer Rayne whether (1) the Australian government would be able to
stop him from helping the Afghanistan asylum seekers by his boat s action under the ASIATIC Act, (2)
the government would be able to forfeit his speedboats under the ASIATIC Act without returning it
back to him, (3) any sales and purchase of the T shirts would be legal, and (4) overall he would have
any chances of challenging the Act.
It appears that although there are some invalid provisions sections 4(4) (5) and section 5(4) of the Act,
the Act is overall valid to stop him from any actions helping the Afghanistan asylum seekers by
severing the invalid portion of the Act.
HEADS OF POWER
Defence Power: sections 2, 3, 4(1) (3)
It appears that sections 2, 3 and 4(1) (3) may be supported by the Defence Power, under section
51(vi). Section 2 provides the objects of the ASIATIC Act. It states that the legislation s purposes, with
respect to defence of the Commonwealth of Australia , to support any Australian Government agency
and its members (s 2(i)), to control anti social behaviour interfering the policies for defence (s 2(ii)), to
prevent the recurrence of the anti social behaviour (s 2(iii)), and associated the purposes (s 2(iv)).
Dixon J stated that a law with respect to the defence power expresses connection to defence of the
Commonwealth in its purpose or object, according to its purposive nature. This provision clearly
states that the Act has the connection to the

Jerry Sandusky, an assistant football coach at Penn State University, has been accused of sexually abusing boys in the basement of his home and in the school workout room and locker room. This investigation was triggered by one of the victims who went to the police and since then, more victims have come out as well. This boy stated that the attacks lasted for about four years. Although Joe Paterno reported what he saw to the Penn State president his responsibility shouldn t have ended there. Yes, he fulfilled his obligation to report any illegal actions on campus but when the Penn State President chose not to take legal action Paterno should have made the moral decision and had gone to the authorities. Legally, he fulfilled his obligation and therefore no longer holds any responsibility in the eyes of the legal system. In the eyes of morality though, his responsibility in the matter was not over just because he reported it to who he was supposed to. This major problem should have been dealt with a long time ago. It s just a moral obligation that Joe Paterno should have acted upon. So yes I feel he deserved to be fired. Everyone who knew about it should have reported it to legal authorities. His great athletic achievements and mutual respect should have pushed towards the issue being resolved and not swept under the rug for it to come out years after and now resulting in him being fired. Every action has a reaction and in this case the reaction is due to Paternos lack of action. Over the past 100 years of public education in the great state of Alabama, changes in education have been literally fought for by blood, sweat and tears. However, with the desegregation issues from 1964 closed for the past 50 years, state legislatures still find plenty of arguments concerning public education reforms. Most of these arguments, though, are essentially concerns about federal control over state. No significant academic criterion requirements were required federally under the NCLB. The act required each state to set their own standards for achievement in the standardized testing. In 2012, President Obama allotted NCLB waivers to states that agreed to raise standards, improve accountability, and undertake essential reforms to improve teacher effectiveness, (NCLB, Wikipedia, ref. 107). Essay on Summary of The Book of Hosea In this book, there is an ongoing story of adultery, fornication, and betrayal between God and Israel portrayed through the relationship between the prophet Hosea, and his wife Gomer. There are a few different views on the actual relationship between Hosea and Gomer, the first of which is that Gomer was already a harlot when Hosea took her as his wife. This one I would think is the most widely accepted, simply because it s the literal description of the book, and people tend to lean towards literal definitions more frequently than not, just look at how people of the world have torn apart the book of Revelation! God, the same way, did nothing but provide for His people, His wife. He cared for them in every way He could, and they still betrayed Him at every turn. Hosea is a book telling of the judgment that is to come against them as a nation, and what is required of them to come back to God. At the point of writing this book, it is already too late, and the nation can do nothing to stay the wrath of God against them. God did everything He could for them, even as it is said in 13:11, God gave them a king in His anger, going against what He wanted for them, just to make them happy. In the end however, we see that God took their king away in His wrath. The nation as a whole is to be captured, and they will no longer have a king like they had before. Their glory will be taken away because of their sinfulness and rebellion towards God. This is one of the longer minor prophets, having 14 chapters, most of which are dealing strictly with the ungodliness of Israel as a nation, but the final chapter seems to me that Israel did change their ways and repent to some extent. One such animal where this is especially apparent is the evolution of the horse. In order to survive, horses evolved traits such as longer limbs, rigid teeth and others that allowed them the best chance of survival. Overall, it is apparent that the morphology of the horse changed due to environmental conditions, especially when studying the fossilized teeth, jaws, and limbs. One of the earliest horse species is known as Hyracotherium. It is believed that this species did not live on open grasslands like modern horses but instead, lived in thick, closed canopy forests. As we saw in lab, the teeth of Hyracotherium are rather pointed which indicates that the species was a browser of leaves and fruits in forests. • 44. Literary Analysis Of The World On The Turtle s Back The World on the Turtle s Back is a myth passed down from one generation of Iroquois to the next. Throughout the passage the author uses specific literary elements and style to explain the creation of the world through the eyes of the Iroquois tribe. The story begins with a man who has a pregnant wife and continues to further with the woman s cravings and desires. Within this description the author uses his or her individual style and chooses to capitalize two phrases Sky World and Great Tree . When capitalizing phrases that grammatically do not need to be capitalized it gives the phrase significance. In the case of Sky World and Great Tree these objects are made to stand out to the reader, in order to show that they are important for the continuation of this story or they have a deeper meaning. As the story progresses the woman s cravings reach a point at which she desired some bark from the Great Tree. However as stated before in the passage, the tree was not supposed to be marked or mutilated by any of the beings who dwelt in the Sky World . The women decided that she wanted some bark proving that she made a conscious choice to violate the rules. This is a representation of how the Iroquois view women. How dare she, as a woman, decide to do anything without the authorization of a man. When she asked her husband to retrieve the bark he denied her request, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It appears that although there are some invalid provisions sections 4(4) (5) and section 5(4) of the Act, the Act is overall valid to stop him from any actions helping the Afghanistan asylum seekers by severing the invalid portion of the Act. HEADS OF POWER Defence Power: sections 2, 3, 4(1) (3) It appears that sections 2, 3 and 4(1) (3) may be supported by the Defence Power, under section 51(vi). Section 2 provides the objects of the ASIATIC Act. It states that the legislation s purposes, with respect to defence of the Commonwealth of Australia , to support any Australian Government agency and its members (s 2(i)), to control anti social behaviour interfering the policies for defence (s 2(ii)), to prevent the recurrence of the anti social behaviour (s 2(iii)), and associated the purposes (s 2(iv)). Dixon J stated that a law with respect to the defence power expresses connection to defence of the Commonwealth in its purpose or object, according to its purposive nature. This provision clearly states that the Act has the connection to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
