Drug Abuse Drug Addiction
SOC 203 Social Problems
Instructor Ely
May 11, 2015
Numerous individuals do not comprehend why individuals get to be dependent on drugs or how drugs
can change the mind to cultivate enthusiastic drug abuse. They erroneously view drug misuse and
dependence as entirely a social issue and may describe the individuals who take drugs as ethically
powerless (Alving, Matyas, Torres, Jalah, Beck, 2014). One extremely regular belief is that drugs
abusers ought to have the capacity to stop taking drugs if they are willing to change their conduct and
be a member of society (Alvin et al., 2014). What individuals frequently underestimate is the intricacy
of drug dependence that this is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sociological point of view stands contrary to what may be known as the chemicalistic
misrepresentation the perspective that drug (A) causes behavioral conduct X, that what we see as
conduct and impacts connected with a given medication are singularly or even basically a component
of the biochemical properties of that medication, of the medication in addition to the human creature,
or even of the medication in addition to a human organic entity with a certain character structure
(Primm, 1992). Drugs impacts and drug related conduct are massively entangled, very variable, and
dependent upon numerous things. Furthermore, the most imperative of these things are social and
context oriented in nature (Primm, 1992). In the creature world, it is a considerable amount simpler to
foresee what drugs will do; anyway, we must try many different things with rats but it does not let us
know all that much about human conduct (Primm, 1992). This is the reason social setting is so vital.
The negative outcomes of medication misuse influence people who ill use medicates as well as their
families and companions, different organizations, and government assets (Akindipe, Abiodun,
Adebajo, Lawal, Rataemane, 2014). Albeit huge numbers of these impacts can t be evaluated, Office
of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) as of late in 2002 reported that, the monetary expense of
drug abuse within the United States was $180.9 billion (Akindipe et al., 2014, Pg 250 Para 10). The

Clustering Or Cluster Analysis Is Defined As The Process...
CLUSTERING TECHNIQUES
Clustering or Cluster analysis is defined as the process of organizing objects into groups whose
members are similar in some way. Therefore, a cluster is the collection of objects which are similar to
each other and are dissimilar to the objects belonging to other clusters. The objects in one cluster are
more related and have high similarity when compared to the objects that are in other cluster. So, we
can also define clustering as The process of grouping a set of data objects into clusters or various
groups so that the objects within the clusters have high similarity, but very dissimilar to objects that
are in other clusters . Based on the attribute values that interpret the objects and distance measures the

In the case of Image Recognition the concept of clustering can be applied to identify the clusters in
handwritten character recognition systems. Many applications of clustering are also found in Web
search. Clustering can be utilized to organize the query results in groups and present the outcomes in a
concise and effectively available way. We can distinguish and sparse regions in object space by
automated clustering and from that we can find general interesting correlations and overall distribution
patterns among data attributes. Cluster analysis has been broadly utilized as a part of various
applications, like market research, pattern recognition, data analysis, and image processing. In
business, clustering can offer marketers some assistance with discovering distinct groups in their
client bases and portray client groups taking into account the purchasing patterns. In science, it can be
utilized to determine plant and animal scientific categorizations, order qualities with similar
functionality, and addition knowledge into structures inborn in populations. For the identification of
the same land use in the earth observation database we use clustering. It can also be used for finding
groups of houses in a city based on the house type, value and the geographic location. It will be
helpful in identifying the groups of the policy holders with the highest average claim cost of the
automobile insurance.

NCAA March Madness
In monumental clashes for the ages, both collegiate men and women s NCAA March Madness
tournaments have provided countless matches, unprecedented athleticism, and glorious victories
paired with heartbreaking defeats. Yet despite their similar structures, the two tournaments have
attained vastly different levels of recognition in the United States. With men s basketball, thousands of
Americans tune in every year to watch the upsets and Final Four games, drooling over perennial
powerhouses such as Duke University, University of Kentucky, and University of Kansas and
unknown underdogs like Butler University, Wichita State University, and Virginia Commonwealth
University as they all compete in titanic battles. Everyone from retirees to college students fill out
fantasy brackets yearly in volumes reaching millions, praying to have that lucky year where they
predict the tournament correctly. However, on the female side of the sport, audiences are ... Show

Sociology professor Michael Messner of the University of Southern California explains that the media
actively constructs audiences that are likely to see the men s Final Four as a dramatic, historic event
that they simply must watch, while fans are likely to see the women s Final Four as a nonevent or, at
best, as just another game of the Men s Final Four (Messner). Messner emphasizes the differences in
language, attention, and emotion in media coverage as the sources of different representations and
viewership. Professor Messner is not the only expert to contend that purposeful sexism and subtle
contrast in media representation are the causes of the inequality in coverage. Others assert that we
need more women on television, in the news, and in front of our young girls, arguing purposeful
disinterest in gender equality is the reason for lack of viewership in women s basketball

The Pinnacle Of Weird Behavior In Rosemary s Baby
Rosemary s Baby The neighbors in this clip from Rosemary s Baby are the pinnacle of weird
behavior. This movie was made in 1968 adapted from the book Rosemary s Baby written by Ira Levin.
The story is about a girl named Rosemary, who recently has had a baby. Her husband is a small time
actor whose success is just starting to pick up. There neighbors, the Casavets seem very nice at first,
but this changes extremely fast when she realizes they are Satanists. This part of the film shows

sedatives and according to the people there she took too many and was going crazy. She goes to look
at her baby only to see its eyes are cut out. She screams and Mr. Casavet says, He s got his fathers
eyes referring to Satan. They keep talking about how her son is the son of Satan and they keep saying
how God is dead. It is a very eerie seen that creates a chilling mood. ... Show more content on

This movie came out in 1968, and for that time, this movie was considered horrifying. This movie is
so scary because it is everyone s worst nightmare to have neighbors like this. It shows how the fear of
having a weird, or in this case psychotic neighbor resonated in society 48 years ago, and it still does
today. Although today, 10 year olds could probably watch this film, back in the day this was obviously
directed at adults only. This film seen by most people in movie theaters. This movie does have a
deeper significance when it comes to Satanism itself. The Satanist church was founded in the 1960 s
and it is supposed to show the members in a negative light. It is supposed to scare people into
believing that all Satanists are cold blooded murderers. This is especially scary because more people

Positive And Negative Effects Of The Columbian Exchange
Columbian Exchange The Columbian Exchange was a way exchanging new resources between the
new world and the old world. This impacted Europeans and Native Americans positively with the new
materials now available, like technology, plants, and animals. There were some negative effects from
these exchanges too, such as diseases. Made it easier to interact with other cultures. Jamestown First

are also known as English protestants. Their goal was to separate themselves from the church of
England, whom they had been defying for years. Although they didn t believe everyone deserves
religious freedom, the reason for leaving the Church of England was for them to be able to believe
what they wanted. Joint Stock Companies A Joint Stock Company is a company that has stocks that

Cold Harbor Civil War Commander
Do you envision a Commander as a failure if they have lost many troops? My answer is No. As long
as the Commander utilizes the six principles of mission command they have not failed as the
Commander. Therefore, in the Cold Harbor Civil War General Grant did an outstanding job as the
Commander. He played a major role in utilizing all principles of mission command. The five roles I
will elaborate on and describe in which General Grant exercised great are building cohesive teams
through mutual trust, providing a clear commander s intent, exercising discipline initiative, utilizing
mission orders, and accepting prudent risks. There are many challenges in upholding the role as the
Commander on the battlefield and General Grant experience it. A commander

The Integrative Model Of Organizational Behavior
Organizational commitment is one of the two individual outcomes derived from individual
mechanisms like job satisfaction, stress, motivation, trust, justice, ethics, and learning and decision
making. These mechanisms and outcomes can be found on the integrative model of organizational
behavior (OB). Colquitt, LePine, and Wesson defined organizational commitment in their
Organizational Behavior 5th Edition book as the desire of an employee to remain a member of the
organization (p 64).
Being committed to an organization and going through different commitment stages is something that
I personally experienced at my job. For the past four years, I have been working at Dow AgroSciences
LLC legal department. I started there as a high school Co Op and continued an employment with this
company throughout college up to present time.
Reviewing types of commitment, I can tell that I experienced all three of them through different stages
of my career at Dow. During my first two years, I definitely felt an emotion based affective
commitment, which defined as the desire to stay with the company due to an emotional attachment to
the organization and its employees. With this commitment, employees stay because they want to (65).
I was hired with two of my friends from high school, so be able to work with them and building closer
relationships was a big emotion based factor. Other factors that made me want to stay there was the
professional atmosphere, flexible work hours, friendly coworkers, goal driven job duties, and
supportive supervisor. Having co workers that thank me for everything I do, motivates me to do my
best at all tasks and built a desire in me to exceed others expectations through my performance.
In the past two years, my commitment type slightly shifted to the continuance and normative
commitment. Because two of my friends left Dow and ratio of tasks challenge and my educational
growth has not been balanced, I do not feel as motivated and interested in the work as I was in the
beginning of my career. Going through the Kelley School of Business helped me to acquire
knowledge and skills that exceed my job tasks skills level. Unfortunately, this creates boredom and
assists with withdrawal behavior.

Stereotypes Of Reality TV Shows
Diversity is everywhere. Is it really everywhere? Even on our television shows? Many would beg to
differ. Throughout the course of television history, we see television ranging from documentaries to
drama to reality. As there is drama and comedy on our screens there isn t a healthy range of races or
ethnicities throughout TV shows. In 2017, we live in an America with over millions of people of
different backgrounds, but that does not seem to reflect how it is represented on television shows. The
portrayal of diversity on our television screens isn t shown as much as it is seen throughout America,
thus creating stereotypes of multiple minorities and unflattering perceptions from less educated
viewers. Reality TV is a hot contender regarding the number of minority groups seen. Stereotypes are
already made based on what others believe, however television shows create an even deeper
stereotype of minority groups. Reality TV shows like The Jersey Shore... rely on stereotypes of
minority groups for entertainment. Careful editing exaggerate these stereotypes and help producers
create the story they want to tell...The outrage expressed by some Italian Americans over MTV s
Jersey Shore marks a late in coming epiphany about reality TV programs... (Braxton). We see that
creators of well known TV shows rely on the received idea of certain minority groups, in this case it s

Subaru Car Research Paper
Subaru cars are no ordinary cars they are high performance cars. Therefore, performance cars need
performance replacement parts to ensure that the performance of the car is maintained. When any part
or accessory of your Subaru car is worn out or damaged, always insist on replacing it with a genuine
Subaru part. Getting genuine Subaru parts is the best thing you can do for your vehicle. No matter the
destination, with high performance Subaru parts, you can enjoy your every ride to the fullest. The
genuine parts are designed to handle any kind of duress, be it physical or climatic. Therefore,
whenever any parts that need replacement, replace them with high performance genuine parts and do
not compromise the performance of your vehicle. Most Subaru cars have a boxer engine, a flat laying
engine, that delivers an impressive amount of power. The flat laying engine layout also factors toward
the better balance and fuel economy of the Subaru vehicles. Now, you would not want to give up the
exceptional power, balance and fuel economy of your Subaru car with inferior Subaru parts...right?
For that reason, it is always in your best interest to go for genuine Subaru parts. Aftermarket Subaru
parts are available on the market, but it is not prudent to seek them. If you do not know the concept of
aftermarket parts, let us explain it to you. Aftermarket parts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Descriptive Essay About Disney World
On Monday Joy and her family arrived in Orlando, Florida, but they were not staying on the Disney
resort, but instead, they choose to stay at the Kissimmee Koa campground. While they all impatiently
waited to arrive at Disney World the next morning. The night before, Joy and all of her siblings
decided swimming and playing on the play grounds was the way to occupy their time.
Tuesday morning the family woke up at 8:00 a.m. and ate a quick breakfast prior to beginning their
short journey to the Disney World theme park. All of the children, including Joy were extremely
excited to arrive at Disney World because it would be their first time. They left the campground at
about 9:00 a.m. and arrived at Disney World at approximately 9:45 a.m. When the family arrived at
the theme park, it took them nearly 20 minutes to locate a parking space and enter the park. During the
entire drive to Disney World Joy thought it was all just a dream. But, upon arriving to the actual theme
park of Disney World, Joy realized her dream was really a reality and she shed tears of excitement.
Disney World is a magic kingdom full of people, buildings, song and dance, food like homemade
fudge, horse drawn street cars and horseless carriages, statues and Disney characters. Joys family
adventure began by entering through a tunnel just below a train station before they landed right in
front of cinderella s castle. Since the experience was nothing like what joy had even been through
before, she stood amazed as she viewed the castle she dreamed about living in, much like every other
girl. Six paths lead from several different angle around the castle spreading throughout the theme park.
One of the first attractions within Disney world that Joy and her family stopped at was the Swiss
Family Treehouse. The Swiss Family Treehouse was based on a 1960 s movie, Swiss Family
Robinson . The attraction is a large treehouse accessible for children and adults to climb and maneuver
through, but it is also the makeshift home of a shipwrecked family as portrayed in the movie. As Joy
entered the enormous treehouse she was lead to a narrow staircase that was the pathway to the dining
room, kitchen, and two bedrooms. The treehouse left Joy and her siblings

What Does The Brain Carry Out Its Functions
The Oxford Dictionary defines the brain as an organ of soft nervous tissue contained in the skull of
vertebrates. This part of the body has three important features. These features help the brain carries out
its functions. The three important features are the cerebrum, the cerebellum, and the brainstem. The
cerebrum is the large part of the brain and it helps the body performs functions that involve body
movements, emotional reactions, and the senses. The cerebrum is divided into four sections. Each of
these sections allows the cerebrum to do some of its functions. The first section of the cerebrum is the

exciting as well. We are doing well here in Washington except for a few issues that have put me into a
lot of worry and concern. I believe you do understand the challenges that come with adolescent
children and the temptations that they face in life due to the different developments and changes that
occur into them, as well as adventurous steps and ideologies that more often can lead them into great
trouble and risk. My aim of writing you this letter is to share with you and seek your guidance and
opinion about my son Joel, who turned 14 years two months ago. I am deeply worried and concerned
that Joel might be involved or has started using drugs due to the differences that I have personally
noted and observed in his behaviors and character in the last few months. I have been observing him,
and I regret to tell you that this is not the child or boy that we knew him to be. My greatest worry is
about his future that may be jeopardized and his education as well in the event that the boy is involved
in drug abuse. I am certain that you as a parent you know and understand equally well the impact and
pain that a parent experiences and faces seeing a loved one loose direction and ruining his or her
future. As the old English adage says, blood is thicker than water; I have every reason to get worried.

Are Windshields Good Or Bad
It has transpired of us: we ve been driving down the interstate stuck behind an expansive truck, and it
kicked up a stone that hit our windshield. At to start with, it appeared to innocuously ricochet off, yet
as we drove not far off we understood that the stone took out a piece of the windshield and spread a

The attempt to launch the biggest disruptive technological change in the hard drive industry in 1992,
was aimed to be reached according to Hewlard Packard (HP) by launching Kittyhawk smallest hard
disk ever. They realized that they had the strength of having the flexibility of entrepreneurs but
financial support of a large high tech company. The aim was to create a product that is not the same as
competitors but instead revolutionary strategic insight was made by the commercial failure.

The marketing representative should collect insight on different industry needs that are relevant to
hard drives. This information would benefit management more in product development instead of
collecting information on a product that has attributed benefits the market has no need for.
First the marketing representative should validate market trends, then a cross functional team that
consists of different members with different roles should be assigned to project plan and present
production ideas to management. This division would be led under the Computer Product
Organization´s supervision to create a group with different perspectives. This is the equivalent of
eating like a bird and pooping like an elephant that Kawaski mentions. The team will consume ideas
within and share the outcome with management to make correct decisions. The market research
company was a weak link, as they did not provide them with insight that they didn t already know.
Hence why management might have gotten stuck in a visionary tunnel and not been able to adapt the
product to more use than just focusing on its size.

Harriet Welch
Explain the influences of two predictable and two unpredictable major life events on the development
of an individual:
Life stages to talk about
Predictable * His child Hailie and Getting Married * Moving house
Unpredictable
* Leave school * Get scouted and become famous and live his dream
Eminem
Having a Child
Eminem was married in his 20 s this was predictable because he had a stable girlfriend and was
engaged therefore this led to marriage. The marriage stage in Eminem s life was the good moments; it
was like his life was on track finally. Eminem and Kim had a child together called Hailey. She was a
bridesmaid at their wedding. This had a big effect on Eminem s life because Hailey is his ... Show

This is a predictable life stage because Eminem and his Mum never had much money; his mum was
unable to pay rent therefore the time that she could stay at a house or trailer was limited. She was a
drug taker therefore she could have had drug dealers after her for money. By putting Eminem s
upbringing into perspective moving house is predictable because it is band to happen. It s impossible
for a single parent who is on drugs and an alcoholic to not only bring up a child but to manage their
low income, afford food and also pay for drugs within such a limited income span. Drugs and alcohol
was clearly more important to his mum hence why she couldn t pay her rent. Where this situation was
on going once Eminem had moved houses a few times he probably got used to the routine of moving
house and because isolated or separated from old friends. It was a situation that he had no way of
adapting to because he was never settled.
Eminem getting scouted
Eminem got himself into a show at the Olympics, this is where he got scouted by Dre, Dre got him
signed and helped him to make the success of his life. This had an impact on him because he is finally
living his dream; the good has finally come out of all the bad things and the struggle that he has been
through. He can now afford to provide for him, his mum and his daughter. He must have had enough
of providing for his mum and he left

Solution Focused Therapy ( Sft )
Clients come for mental health treatment for a variety of different reasons and there are a variety of
different approaches that can be used to assist those clients. Solution focused therapy (SFT) is one of
those approaches. Examined are the treatment approach of SFT, the theory associated, evidence to
support the treatment, the effectiveness with youth and culturally diverse clients, and the limitation of
the approach. SFT treatment approach can be used with an individual and or families. The treatment
emphasizes the strengths and sources of resiliency that a client or family has to promote positive
change (Hook, 2014). The therapy enables the client to focus on solutions from the past that could be
helpful in creating new realities (Hook, 2014). One of the inventors of SFT referred to it as a way to
carry on a practical conversation with clients (Jong, 2015). The conversation is used to co construct
solutions. The clinician asks questions not knowing the response (Jong, 2015). Furthermore, the
conversations focus on what the client wants to be different and how to make that occur (Jong, 2015).
While using SFT the clinician has several assumptions that guide the sessions. First, a client is
competent to co construct goals (Jong, 2015). Second, the client is the expert of their own life (Jong,
2015). Third, the problem and solution do not necessarily have a connection (Jong, 2015). Fourth, the
client has to do something different for change to occur (Jong, 2015). Fifth,

Improving The Current State Of Healthcare
In Pocahontas county West Virginia, tourism is the primary source of income for many, and the driver
of the economy due to the abundance of outdoor recreation available year round. Pocahontas

There are other clinics located throughout Pocahontas county, encompassing a total of only sixteen
providers of similar specialty to care for a population of approximately nine thousand (Pocahontas
Memorial Hospital, 2013). The Pocahontas Health Needs Assessment (2013) determined that
consumers of this underserved region are specifically in need of services such as obstetrics and
gynecologic care, mammography, PAP tests, MRI, non emergency transportation, dialysis, pediatrics,
extended dental care to include crowns and extractions, colonoscopy, orthopedics, and ophthalmology.
Although the population of the county has decreased over the last ten years by roughly 4%, the
quickest growing population is that of those residents age 65 or older (Pocahontas Memorial Hospital,
2013). There is indication that the need for such specific services in order to keep residents out of the
hospital for non emergent needs, or from traveling for care, is imperative at this time.
Determining the feasibility of this type of project will require the evaluation of various factors, which
can generally be summed up by completing a market and SWOT analysis. Currently, Pocahontas
Memorial Hospital (PMH) is pursuing a strategic initiative which includes determining if developing a
satellite clinic within Pocahontas County is not only conceivable but also enduring (CSU Global,

Who Is Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close
The film Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close written by Eric Roth is centered around the events that
happened on 9/11. The film follows a young boy named Oskar, who lost his beloved father in the
attacks. He finds a key in his father s closet and ventures out into the city to find who it belongs to.
During this adventure Oskar attempts to find closure and shows his true emotions. The title Extremely
Loud and Incredibly Close is used to represent how close Oskar was to finding the owner of the key,
Oskar s relationship with his father, as well as Oskar s emotional state during the film.
Incredibly close is used to describe how close Oskar was to finding what the key he found in his father
s closet belong to. Soon after Oskar finds the key he is in a way forced by his Asperger s syndrome to
find who or what the key belongs to because he cannot handle anything not having an answer. The
envelope he found the key in had the name Black written on it, so Oskar made it his mission to find
every person with the last name Black in New York and go visit them to inquire about key. The first
place Oskar ended up going was to the house of Abby Black, who similar to him was going through a
tough time. He asked her about the key, but she said it was not hers and did not know what it belonged
to. He talks to her in order to comfort her and as he is doing this William Black walks by. This is not

Designing A Graphic Organizer That May Provide An Overview...
In researching and finding information to develop a graphic organizer that could provide an overview
of various types of assessments was insightful. Reading assessments are often mandated by a school
district or state to determine where student are academically. In the case of reading test, the data
received is supposed to give the assessor and idea of defects and growth of the reader. But is the
information received from just one assessment tool giving an accurate and complete picture of reading
skills. Assessments may determine if a student is reading with fluency, can comprehend what they
have read, are able to decode words, and so on. Because of the variety of assessments it was difficult
to narrow the field and select just five. Familiarity with the assessments assisted in my selection. The
final five selected were; 1. Collection Portfolio Assessment, 2.Miscue Analysis, 3.Running Record, 4.
Criterion Referenced Tests and 5. Each tool assesses reading in a variety of ways. The data they
provide can determine the direction of current and future reading instruction. In researching portfolio I
learned that there were various format and purposes. Portfolios can be the process oriented or product
oriented. The formats I investigated were collection, display and teacher/student portfolios. I selected
Collection Portfolio to compare with the other assessments tools. Again I selected this format because
I was familiar with it. Even with that I learned that there was

The Wanderer Essay
In Anglo Saxon culture blood feud was a common occurrence and if left unchecked could leave an
entire area devoid of people that once called it home due to infighting. To avoid furthering conflict one
could also pay the wer gild but if the murderer refused to pay the wer gild they would be exiled from
their society of forced to live on their own on the fringes of civilization. The Wanderer is from the
perspective of one man who was exiled after a blood feud and this part of his story is critical to
understanding the poem within the context of the culture it was written. However The Wanderer has a
backdrop of blood feud and punishment by exile surrounding it but it is not by itself a poem that
condemns either of those things instead it contends with the idea of wyrd or fate and how it is
inescapable. The weary mind cannot withstand wyrd (The Wanderer ll. 15) this line very early on in
the poem states how you can not beat back fate and that it is futile to try. The wanderer when he ...

are, you stand to be affected by it because its ultimate goal is to leave the world standing empty.
Especially near the end of the poem it states how all the warriors were swept away by wyrd along with
all the other worldly goods the speaker of the poem has grown accustomed to and loved. The poem

Why Is Clonmacnoise A Cross
Clonmacnoise is one of the most important medieval ecclesiastical sites of Ireland, located in the
county of Offaly, between Meath and Connacht. Back to its time of grandeur around the ninth and
twelfth century, that place was one of the main crossroads. Besides, this complex is also known for its
high crosses. Although Clonmacnoise grew to full splendor for centuries, it decayed due to historic
events. This essay is briefly focused on its archaeological and historical background, paying special
attention to the high crosses. History The translation for Clonmacnoise would be the meadow of the

place of learning not only in Ireland but in Europe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As of today, there are still on some parts of Clonmacnoise: a great stone church, other buildings, three
high crosses, two round towers, a Romanesque sculpture and grave slabs. The high crosses were
generally built in Ireland around the eighth century and the tenth century. They were a representation
of the monastic civilization. These high crosses reached their finest form at Clonmacnoise. According
to Flower (1954), the high crosses could be divided into two groups. One of them, named as Leinster
group, had crosses made of granite. The other is known as the Ulster group. On the other hand,
Françoise Henry proposed at the same time that the high crosses could be chronologically divided into
three groups: crosses from the ninth century, from the tenth century and from the twelfth century.
Their height reached four metres or even more. They have the shape of Latin crosses, with their base
as a truncated pyramid. Their function is still being pondered, although there are some suggestions for
it. One of them explains that while some crosses might have indicated the entrance to some of the
buildings, others could have been either marks for boundaries or for

The Ethics Of Animal Testing By Robin Mckie
The ethics of animal tests: inside the lab where marmosets are given Parkinson s by Robin McKie
examines the situation of marmosets who are subjected to testing and experiments. McKie uses
several literary techniques such as statistics, case studies and emotive language in his article to not
only communicate the cruel and unjustifiable nature of animal testing, but also the necessity we
humans have for it; while experimenting on animals can be considered immoral, it s still a much better
alternative than using humans.
Emotive language is used several times throughout the article. McKie describes the marmosets as
being no bigger than cats. This automatically causes us to think of the marmosets in the same way that
they think of cats; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reader assumes from what McKie wrote about animal testing that the researchers must be callous
individuals who are indifferent to animal suffering, but in truth they have an innate love of animals.
McKie provides evidence of this by describing how they end up knitting hammocks for the animals
and having favourites. He mentions an interview with a King s College technician which supports his
evidence. A different employee also claimed that researching on marmosets had allowed them to
develop medicines which have allowed patients to run their lives normally. Prior to King s College s
experiments on marmosets, Parkinson s patients were a mass of uncontrollable movement, jerking and
waving their hands and arms. McKie convinces the reader of why, while animal testing can be seen as
unethical and wrong, it still is very important in the medical field. I feel that the life of a human has
greater value than that of an animal, and that in this case the means justifies the end. By sacrificing
hundreds of animals for experiments we end up saving thousands of humans.
Throughout his article, McKie uses a great variety of phrases and techniques to strikingly portray the
reality of animal testing and the lesser known activities which happen behind the scenes. He
powerfully communicates both the negative and positive features of using animals in experiments
without definitively taking a side, thus he lets us form our own opinions on the morality of animal
testing. Personally, I am a proponent of the use of animals in medical experiments solely because I am
convinced that they are the most reliable and accurate was to gauge the effectiveness of

The Importance Of Globalization
Globalization has been in a toss up on the valuableness of its control and how it benefits the world.
Many views have come up due to the advancement of the world collectively, some believe it has only
benefited society has a whole while others say it has brought only destruction to the social and cultural
aspects. Two professors at highly ranked universities discuss their views on Globalization and how it
has influenced the world. Globalization has greatly impacted the world through its social relations
through culture. Amartya Sen at Harvard University expresses his views on Globalization through the
spread of intellectual ideas and how it takes one great idea to spread across the globe.
Amartya Sen has a positive outtake on the developing nature on Globalization. He believes the rise in
Globalization in the past years as brought a new standard of living through social correlations. In an
example to prove Globalization has benefited the people he uses the history of mathematics, In his
history of mathematics, Howard Eves explains that around 1150 A.D., Gherardo of Cremona, in his
translations from the Arabic, rendered jaib as the Latin sinus, the corresponding word for a cove or a
bay. (Sen 2012, 18). Math is one language that is the same in any country across the globe, Sen was
referring to the concept sine and how it was created in India, but developed in other countries. It was

Health Insurance System
In the United States, there are three basic systems in which healthcare are financed: private insurance,
public insurance, and uninsured. Within private and public insurance, there are several different types
of plans that assist in financing health care. Private health insurance utilizes various healthcare
providers to provide cost sharing in receiving healthcare services through benefits provided by
employers or for premiums (Shi Singh, 2015). Some examples of healthcare providers are commercial
insurance companies, self insured businesses, and managed care organizations (Shi Singh, 2015).

This type of insurance is financed through governmental entities for the elderly, disabled individuals,

members and their families (Shi Singh, 2015). Depending on the services, individuals may be required
to pay a co payment dependent on the program and the financial abilities of the individual or family

their families or veterans and their families with health insurance plans for health care services at a
discount or gratis. Many high risk individuals and their families would not be able to afford health
care services because of the lack of income or ability to work. Also, one of the benefits of serving in
the military is the health care supported by the government for protecting the country. The
disadvantage of public health insurance is the limitation of funds and services subsidized by the

Pentecostal Movement Its Impact Among the Dalits and...
I. Introduction
The prime focus of this paper is to explore the modern Pentecostal or charismatic movement and its
impacts among the Dalits and the tribal in India. In this paper the presenter will also try to bring out a
brief origins and historical development of Pentecostalism, in order to understand the movement and
its impact on the Dalits and the tribal in India.
1. Etymology of the term Pentecostal
The term Pentecostal is derived from the Greek word pentekosté which literally means fifty . It is the
Greek name for the Jewish festival known as the Feast of Weeks in the Old Testament, which
celebrates the fiftieth day after Passover observances. The New Testament used the term to refer to the

visitors around the world. The people who visited this place went back to their homelands spread this
new experience and spread the Pentecostalism to other parts of the world and formed Pentecostal
churches. From the Azusa Street revival in Los Angeles, Pentecostalism spread rapidly around the
world and began its advance toward becoming a major force in Christendom.
5. Pentecostalism Movement in India
We have observed the modern Pentecostal movement in the 20th century that sparked out of the
revivals that took place at Azusa Street, Los Angeles, which spread rapidly to the ends of the earth.
Most of the scholars traced back the origin of Pentecostalism to the Azusa Street revival in 1906.
However, it is not yet firmly established as to when the Pentecostalism started in India because prior
to the coming of Pentecostal missionaries in the 20th century there were Pentecostal like events in the
history of Christianity in India.
According to Gary McGee, the eminent historian of Assemblies of God, Pentecostalism had already
established itself in India long before word of Azusa reached the subcontinent. He validated by
showing the documentary evidence that Pentecost, with all the associated phenomena, came

workout all the time. It is actually a mix of low intensity, moderate intensity, and high intensity

It works so well because the body never knows what it should expect, so this helps a person to avoid
hitting plateaus. Usually, a person who does the same workout routine for the same intensity will get
to the point where it no longer becomes effective for them. Losing weight will get harder too. So by

It is based on the belief that the main cause of injuries and pain lies in the emotional resistance and

Queensland Bulls Research Paper
The Queensland Bulls Cricket Team Queensland s Premier Male Cricket Team Since 1882
Queensland s Cricket History Cricket can be seen in Queensland as early as 1857, two years before its
separation from New South Wales and statehood. The first inter colonial, or representative, match was
in 1864 when the Queensland XXII was beaten by the New South Wales XI. They would record their
first victory in 1875 when the Queensland XVIII beat the NSW XI. This victory was the spark behind
the formation of the Queensland Cricket Association the following year. In 1892/93, ten years after the
formation of the Queensland Bulls, they were granted first class status, winning their inaugural first
class match against NSW in that season by 14 runs. Due to the tyranny of distance, and the fact that
the players held non professional status, the opportunities for more than a few first class competitions
were limited. During the 1892/93 season they rarely played more than two inter colonial matches. ...

There are three main ways that essential oils can be extracted from fruits and plants:
Distillation
Steam passes through the plant and is caught in a condenser. (drericz, 2018, para. 24)
The condenser then cools down the steam and it turns to liquid. (drericz, 2018, para. 24)
Because of the essential oil s lipophilic nature it separates from the water allowing it to be extracted
(drericz, 2018, para. 24)
Expression (Cold Pressing)
Most often done with to obtain citrus essential oils (Asbahani, 2014, p. 227)
Fruit is placed in machine with small spikes that poke the rind, breaking the oil sacs, to release the
essential oil (Asbahani, 2014, p. 227)
The oil is then collected in a small container underneath the machine ... Show more content on

252)
Examples of essential oils that are known to inhibit the growth of E. coli (at certain concentrations):
Bay oil, clove oil, lemon grass oil, oregano oil and thyme oil (Raut Karuppayil, 2014, p. 252)
How do essential oils fight bacteria?
Essential oils are often lipophilic so they are able to destabilize the bacteria s plasma membrane (Raut
Karuppayil, 2014, p. 252)
They can also interfere with how proton pumps in the bacteria cell membrane work, decreasing
membrane integrity (Raut Karuppayil, 2014, p. 252)
Antifungal
Essential oils rich in terpenoids have been found to inhibit the growth of Candida albicans (one of the
major pathogens infecting humans today) (Raut Karuppayil, 2014, p. 256)
Essential oils such as tea tree and eucalyptus oil can prevent C. albicans from entering the S phase of
the cells cycle, where DNA replication occurs (Raut Karuppayil, 2014, p. 256).
How do essential oils fight fungi?
Inhibits membrane sterol, ergosterol, and signalling pathways so that morphogenesis cannot occur
(Raut Karuppayil, 2014, p. 256)
Weakens mitochondrial membrane, resulting in apoptosis (Raut Karuppayil, 2014, p.

Explain How The Military Techniques Used To Keep The Roman...
The Roman Emperors used many different strategies as ways to keep the empire in control and safe.
To prevent riots within the empire and attacks from outside of it, they utilized their army and roads,
natural and manmade borders, strict Roman laws and even their circuses and bread as ways to keep
the Roman Empire strong. It was these 4 points that kept the empire thriving for as long as it did.
The Roman Army was an extremely skilled and powerful force that almost never was defeated. Their
incredibly good fighting techniques helped with the control and safety of the empire. To keep order in
the empire they had a civil guard maintaining peace. They dealt with less threatening affairs while the
Roman legions and auxilia suppressed higher level rioting and rebellion. The Romans were highly
skilled when it came to battles, and even though their weapons were not significantly better than their
enemies they were highly disciplined. The army was organised in a very simple way, they would be
split into groups in equal amounts with a leader or commander. Roads that the Romans designed were
essential to keep the empire safe. Over the course of 700 years, they built more than 55,000 miles of
highways throughout Europe. They built these roads to link the conquered empires and establish them
as colonies. Another reason roads were built was because it reduced marching fatigue and travel time
for the Roman Army and they were able to move ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The borders the Romans made included structures such as Hadrians Wall (built in 122 A.D.) which
was built between the empire and Britain and Scotland. Standing for over 300 years it worked as a
great defense system. The Roman Empire also had amazing fantastic natural borders, like the River
Rhine, Sahara Desert and the Swiss Alps. These natural protectors of threats from outside the borders
kept the empire safe from

This is the reason social setting is so vital. The negative outcomes of medication misuse influence people who ill use medicates as well as their families and companions, different organizations, and government assets (Akindipe, Abiodun, Adebajo, Lawal, Rataemane, 2014). Messner emphasizes the differences in language, attention, and emotion in media coverage as the sources of different representations and viewership. Professor Messner is not the only expert to contend that purposeful sexism and subtle contrast in media representation are the causes of the inequality in coverage. Others assert that we need more women on television, in the news, and in front of our young girls, arguing purposeful disinterest in gender equality is the reason for lack of viewership in women s basketball ... Although today, 10 year olds could probably watch this film, back in the day this was obviously directed at adults only. This film seen by most people in movie theaters. • 8. The Integrative Model Of Organizational Behavior Organizational commitment is one of the two individual outcomes derived from individual mechanisms like job satisfaction, stress, motivation, trust, justice, ethics, and learning and decision making. These mechanisms and outcomes can be found on the integrative model of organizational behavior (OB). Colquitt, LePine, and Wesson defined organizational commitment in their Organizational Behavior 5th Edition book as the desire of an employee to remain a member of the organization (p 64). Being committed to an organization and going through different commitment stages is something that I personally experienced at my job. For the past four years, I have been working at Dow AgroSciences LLC legal department. I started there as a high school Co Op and continued an employment with this company throughout college up to present time. Reviewing types of commitment, I can tell that I experienced all three of them through different stages of my career at Dow. During my first two years, I definitely felt an emotion based affective commitment, which defined as the desire to stay with the company due to an emotional attachment to the organization and its employees. With this commitment, employees stay because they want to (65). I was hired with two of my friends from high school, so be able to work with them and building closer relationships was a big emotion based factor. Other factors that made me want to stay there was the professional atmosphere, flexible work hours, friendly coworkers, goal driven job duties, and supportive supervisor. Having co workers that thank me for everything I do, motivates me to do my best at all tasks and built a desire in me to exceed others expectations through my performance. In the past two years, my commitment type slightly shifted to the continuance and normative commitment. Because two of my friends left Dow and ratio of tasks challenge and my educational growth has not been balanced, I do not feel as motivated and interested in the work as I was in the beginning of my career. Going through the Kelley School of Business helped me to acquire knowledge and skills that exceed my job tasks skills level. Unfortunately, this creates boredom and assists with withdrawal behavior. Determining the feasibility of this type of project will require the evaluation of various factors, which can generally be summed up by completing a market and SWOT analysis. Currently, Pocahontas Memorial Hospital (PMH) is pursuing a strategic initiative which includes determining if developing a satellite clinic within Pocahontas County is not only conceivable but also enduring (CSU Global, 2016a). In researching and finding information to develop a graphic organizer that could provide an overview of various types of assessments was insightful. Reading assessments are often mandated by a school district or state to determine where student are academically. In the case of reading test, the data received is supposed to give the assessor and idea of defects and growth of the reader. But is the information received from just one assessment tool giving an accurate and complete picture of reading skills. Assessments may determine if a student is reading with fluency, can comprehend what they have read, are able to decode words, and so on. Because of the variety of assessments it was difficult to narrow the field and select just five. Familiarity with the assessments assisted in my selection. The final five selected were; 1. Collection Portfolio Assessment, 2.Miscue Analysis, 3.Running Record, 4. Criterion Referenced Tests and 5. Each tool assesses reading in a variety of ways. The data they provide can determine the direction of current and future reading instruction. In researching portfolio I learned that there were various format and purposes. Portfolios can be the process oriented or product oriented. The formats I investigated were collection, display and teacher/student portfolios. I selected Collection Portfolio to compare with the other assessments tools. Again I selected this format because I was familiar with it. Even with that I learned that there was ... To avoid furthering conflict one could also pay the wer gild but if the murderer refused to pay the wer gild they would be exiled from their society of forced to live on their own on the fringes of civilization. The Wanderer is from the perspective of one man who was exiled after a blood feud and this part of his story is critical to understanding the poem within the context of the culture it was written. However The Wanderer has a backdrop of blood feud and punishment by exile surrounding it but it is not by itself a poem that condemns either of those things instead it contends with the idea of wyrd or fate and how it is inescapable. Back to its time of grandeur around the ninth and twelfth century, that place was one of the main crossroads. Besides, this complex is also known for its high crosses. Although Clonmacnoise grew to full splendor for centuries, it decayed due to historic events. This essay is briefly focused on its archaeological and historical background, paying special attention to the high crosses. The high crosses were generally built in Ireland around the eighth century and the tenth century. They were a representation of the monastic civilization. These high crosses reached their finest form at Clonmacnoise. According to Flower (1954), the high crosses could be divided into two groups. One of them, named as Leinster group, had crosses made of granite. The other is known as the Ulster group. On the other hand, Françoise Henry proposed at the same time that the high crosses could be chronologically divided into three groups: crosses from the ninth century, from the tenth century and from the twelfth century. Their height reached four metres or even more. They have the shape of Latin crosses, with their base as a truncated pyramid. • 30. The Ethics Of Animal Testing By Robin Mckie The ethics of animal tests: inside the lab where marmosets are given Parkinson s by Robin McKie examines the situation of marmosets who are subjected to testing and experiments. McKie uses several literary techniques such as statistics, case studies and emotive language in his article to not only communicate the cruel and unjustifiable nature of animal testing, but also the necessity we humans have for it; while experimenting on animals can be considered immoral, it s still a much better alternative than using humans. Emotive language is used several times throughout the article. McKie describes the marmosets as being no bigger than cats. This automatically causes us to think of the marmosets in the same way that they think of cats; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reader assumes from what McKie wrote about animal testing that the researchers must be callous individuals who are indifferent to animal suffering, but in truth they have an innate love of animals. McKie provides evidence of this by describing how they end up knitting hammocks for the animals and having favourites. He mentions an interview with a King s College technician which supports his evidence. A different employee also claimed that researching on marmosets had allowed them to develop medicines which have allowed patients to run their lives normally. Prior to King s College s experiments on marmosets, Parkinson s patients were a mass of uncontrollable movement, jerking and waving their hands and arms. McKie convinces the reader of why, while animal testing can be seen as unethical and wrong, it still is very important in the medical field. I feel that the life of a human has greater value than that of an animal, and that in this case the means justifies the end. By sacrificing hundreds of animals for experiments we end up saving thousands of humans. Throughout his article, McKie uses a great variety of phrases and techniques to strikingly portray the reality of animal testing and the lesser known activities which happen behind the scenes. He powerfully communicates both the negative and positive features of using animals in experiments without definitively taking a side, thus he lets us form our own opinions on the morality of animal testing. Personally, I am a proponent of the use of animals in medical experiments solely because I am convinced that they are the most reliable and accurate was to gauge the effectiveness of ... To prevent riots within the empire and attacks from outside of it, they utilized their army and roads, natural and manmade borders, strict Roman laws and even their circuses and bread as ways to keep the Roman Empire strong. It was these 4 points that kept the empire thriving for as long as it did. The Roman Army was an extremely skilled and powerful force that almost never was defeated. Their incredibly good fighting techniques helped with the control and safety of the empire. To keep order in the empire they had a civil guard maintaining peace.
