Our company has had to operate informally because we had to act together to get the project done as a
common interest. Informal communication channels are ones that develop outside the formal structure
and do not follow the chain of command. They skip management levels and cut across lines of
authority. In our case, there was no authority, so we naturally cut across those lines. One type of
informal communication our company needs to watch out for is the grapevine. The grapevine is the
unofficial communication system of the informal organization. The is a network of gossip and rumors
that are called employee language. Our company shouldn t have any issues with the grapevine.
Another is management by wandering around. This is the term used to describe someone within the
company literally walking around and talking with people across all line of authority. This helps to
reduce the problems of distortion and inevitably occur with formal communication. In this sense, our
company does utilize management by walking around in a figurative

The Soul Of A Deceased Child By Toni Morrison
In 1873, just after the Civil War ended, a house numbered 124 on the edge of Cincinnati, Ohio is
haunted by the soul of a deceased child. Sethe, an ex slave, and her two daughters, Denver and
Beloved, occupy the home. The oldest daughter Beloved, however, happens to be the ghost haunting
her mother and sister. The bond between a mother and her children is evident throughout Toni
Morrison s 1987 novel, Beloved; seen in Sethe s lack of a relationship with her mother, and therefore,
her desire to properly nurture her own children. Unfortunately, slavery does not allow for the existence
of motherhood. The motherly impulse to protect one s children is innate, but in the dehumanizing
realm of slavery, Sethe s maternal instincts are limited and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Sethe s only other memory of her mother is when Sethe recognizes her mother s branding on her
hanging body. This horrifying image sticks with Sethe her entire life, and causes her psychological
agony. Sethe does not want her children to suffer the pain she has. She wants them to have a
relationship with their mother, and especially not see her die. Sethe also remembers that as a baby she
was deprived of milk from her mother to survive. Sethe was nursed by another woman, and recalls
that The little whitebabies got it first and I got what was left nursed her. Or none. There was no
nursing milk to call my own. I know what it is to be without the milk that belongs to you; to have to
fight and holler for it, and to have so little left (Morrison 236). Sethe was malnourished and not fed by
her own mother, which further stresses the separation between them. Sethe s few childhood memories
of her mother make it extremely important to her to nurse her children. When Sethe is cruelly held
down and robbed of this ability, she is more infuriated than the time she is brutally whipped (Morrison
19). When telling a fellow slave about the beating she endured before escaping, she reiterates, they
took my milk! This emphasizes how imperative it was to Sethe to save her milk for her child. Sethe s
lack of motherly nurturing and loss of her mother cause her to want a stronger bond with her own
children and a better life for them. The idea that slavery discourages

What Is The Government s Response To The Truman Doctrine
By 1947, US president Harry S. Truman was outraged by the Soviet Union s perceived resistance to
American demands in Iran, Turkey and Greece, as well as their rejection of the Baruch Plan on nuclear
weapons. In February 1947, the British government announced that it could no longer afford to
finance the Kingdom of Greece in its civil war against Communist led insurgents. The US government
s response to this announcement was the adoption of containment, the goal of which was to stop the
spread of Communism. Truman delivered a speech that called for the allocation of $400 million to
intervene in the war and unveiled the Truman Doctrine, which framed the conflict as a contest
between free peoples and totalitarian regimes. American policymakers

Malaysia And Singapore Bonds
Malaysia and Singapore bonds are unique and idiosyncratic due to factors such as geography, history,
politics, culture and ethnicity.1They are substantial trading partner and their bilateral trade amounted
to S$113.4 billion in 2012, up from S$77.2 billion in 2003. The island s investment into Malaysia has
climbed about 25 percent annually over the past three years, according to DBS Group Holdings
Ltd.2This increase in trade makes quintessential the need to enhance economic linkages between the
two countries and the High Speed Rail (HSR) project presented an opportunity to open up and
rejuvenate smaller cities in Peninsular Malaysia by connecting them to the two major metropolises.
The HSR is an efficient and safe mode of transport which results in dramatic travel time savings. We
will firstly analyse the cost and benefits of the HSR and we will try to discuss if the value of the
project outweigh the MYR 40 billion construction cost. Traffic between the two countries through the
Causeway and Second Link is estimated at 400,000 crossings both ways daily, and Civil Aviation
Authority of Singapore figures show that an average of 7,500 people left Singapore for Malaysia daily
by air last year, of which, say experts, about 6,000 were headed to Kuala Lumpur.3 This will mean
that an extra 100000 commuters will be able to travel in both direction daily. The economic and social
benefits derived from the agglomeration of 2 cities bring about a huge development potential. The

Evidence And Physical Evidence
INTRODUCTION
Evidence plays a major role usually in trail of a case. Several types of evidence can be used. Evidence
can be divided into two categories Testimonial evidence and Physical evidence. Physical evidence is
one type of such evidence; this evidence can be brought to court room for observation during trails.
This is the most important evidence. Physical evidence is also known as real evidence, they consist
tangible article from tiny microscopic to macroscopic evidence from large building to molecules in air.
It can be in solid, gas or liquid form. Advances in forensic science have increased the use of physical
evidence
Physical evidence helps to narrow down a case. This evidence cannot ... Show more content on

Fixed or immovable evidence : The evidence that cannot be moved or removed from crime scene
because of its nature, size or shape. This type of evidence should examine from the crime scene itself
or should be lifted using specific techniques. Some of the examples are

Tire marks on dust, floor or mud
Door frame
Window frame
Walls
Telephone poles
Physical evidence has certain physical dimensions like shape, size, width, state, pattern etc. Such
evidence can be recorded, collected, preserved by using different techniques. Physical evidence can be
also called as material, indirect, circumstantial evidence based on different context.
TYPES OF PHYSICAL EVIDENCES
It s impossible to list down the physical evidence because this evidence depends upon the nature,
manner and the location of the crime committed. But few physical evidences r listed out with can be
encountered in most of the cases.

Analysis Of Sonnet By William Shakespeare
Sonnet to science is a Lyric poem that gets ones attention from the first word. This Sonnet has high
diction that through out the poem makes the readers aware of a serious concern the poet is trying to
express. The title Sonnet to Science , can instantly bring to mind that the poem praise to science,
however as the poem goes on, readers will realize is the exact opposite. The poem was written in the
year 1829 right in the middle of the industrial revolution going on in Europe, a revolution that would
affect every aspect of how things were done, and eventually translate to the United States. Basically
many duties and tasks that were agrarian and rural became more industrial and urban. This could be
the reason why Poe is starting to feel overwhelm by the changes science is doing in Society. The poem
is being narrated by a poet that is worried and concerned about the danger of science and all the
pleasures that science is ripping away from artists. With the emphatic use of literary devices such as
metaphors allusions and high diction, it is seen that the poet sees Science as an enemy and the cause of
destruction of a poet s fantasies and peaceful summer dream beneath the tamarind tree.
Sonnet to Science , is a classic English or Shakespearean Sonnet of Iambic Pentameter divided into 3
quatrains and 1 couplet. It follows an ABAB CDCD EFEF GG rhyme scheme making it easy to catch
the rhymes for the readers.
The first quatrain sets up the theme. It tells the readers that the

Essay #1: The Daodejing
In The Daodejing, Laozi, similar to many prominent Chinese philosophers before and after his time,
discusses his unique perspective of the Way. There is much controversy, however, regarding whether
Laozi was the actual author of this text or was even a real person, and his work is thought to have been
a composite. (For the purpose of clarity, throughout this paper, the author(s) of The Daodejing will be
mentioned as Laozi.) Laozi s vision of the Way is exceptionally challenging to define using words
because of its metaphysical nature. Although this term is somewhat difficult to envision, it is what
mankind should aspire and take action to be aligned with. According to Laozi, in readings in Classical
Chinese Philosophy, the Way (or dao) is the source, sustenance, and ideal state of all things in the
world (Laozi 158). It can be best thought of as the underlying guiding force of all events that occur in
the universe, and mankind is closer to the Way when they realize that all things are interconnected and
have an effect on one another. As might be expected, this vague definition isn t a foolproof depiction
of the eighty one chapters in the Daodejing, but one is able to grasp a basic understanding of Laozi s
ineffable doctrine. Although numerous chapters are meaningful and could provide

Essay on The Many Benefits of Genetically Modified Foods
Have you eaten any dairy products lately? If so, theres a large chance you have eaten genetically
modified foods without even knowing it. About 70 80% of all food are genetically modified in the
United States (Williams). Genetically modified foods benefit us, economically, environmentally, and
health wise. Although they may present health problems, no proof has been shown. GMOs are very
new to our world. There have been many protests against them lately as they continue to expand and
feed our growing population. European environmental organizations and public groups have been
against it for months. The U.S Food and Drug Administration also began worrying about GMOs after
recent effects on monarch butterfly caterpillars were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With crops being modified to kill weeds by itself, weed killing spray is no longer needed, which saves
a lot of money (Whitman 2). Salmon that is engineered to grow faster can help America s fish farming
business. This will save money because farm raised fish is very expensive (Greenwood). In many
ways GMOs are just as good for our planet as the people in it. Food that has been modified stops
pesticides from eating the crops which saves run off agricultural wastes from excessive use of
pesticides and fertilizers which can poison the water supply (Whitman 2). Some plants have also been
genetically engineered to help clean up pollution in the air. More land is also becoming available for
housing because plants can tolerate inhospitable places (Whitman 3). Frankenfish , or genetically
modified fish help fish stocks while also helping the emptying fish supply (Greenwood). Even with all
of the benefits it has to offer, not everyone is a fan of GMOs. Many critics fear they can present
problems to our health. Putting a new gene into something may cause a serious allergic reaction. After
eating GM foods many kids developed serious allergies. This can be solved by making GM plants that
don t make pollen. GM foods also may have unknown effects on human health although nothing has
been proven (Whitman 7). Faster growing fish has been researched for over 20 years and not one
person has ever experienced an effect from the fish (Greenwood). Critics fear that Frankenfish

Reflection On Final Reflection
Final Reflection Essay
I thought this class would be easier than it ended up being. You warned us of this on the first day of
class, and you were certainly right. Fortunately, this resulted in me actually improving my public
speaking skills, which I will certainly need as I go through my career. Most of the public speaking I d
done before this class involved one on one, pitch style speaking. This one done at robotics
competitions trying to present our project to judges. While this was certainly useful experience, it was
very on the fly. It did not prepare me for this class I well as I thought it would. The class succeeded at
its goal of making me improve my public speaking skills, and this improvement happened in three
main areas; my engagement with the audience, my anxiety, and my understanding of an outline. Given
these improvements, I feel much better prepared to handle public speaking experiences I will have in
the future.
One thing I really noticed I improved was my engagement with the audience. These two facets of
speaking are clearly related, and they both improved for me over the course of the semester. For one
of my early speeches, I got the feedback that the only person I made eye contact with was you for the
entire speech. I was making an attempt at engaging with the audience, but I clearly failed. Noting this,
it was something I tried especially hard to make sure I improved for my following speeches. It was at
first awkward to manually move my head around the room without looking mechanical, but as I did it
more and more it became natural. In my earlier speeches, you also noted that my speech pattern was
very one note, and I believe I made progress on fixing this as the year went on. The other aspect that
helped me improve in this area was reducing my speaking anxiety.
The was the biggest thing that improved during this class. We were told that the only way to get over
speech anxiety was to simply speak more, and doing that surely helped. I definitely was falling into
the perfectionist trap at first, especially because of my stutter. Being willing to accept that I m going to
make mistakes was an important part about getting through the speeches. Your advice about not
stopping every time I made a

Jack Kerouac’s The Dharma Bums Essay
Jack Kerouac s The Dharma Bums
Jack Kerouac s The Dharma Bums does not fall too far from a basic description of his life. Kerouac
spent the bulk of his writing career riding trains from city to city, meeting people and writing books
and poetry. He was among the premier writers of the Beat Generation, a group of primarily urban
poets and writers who put the basics of life and their spiritual nuances into poetry with a beat. The
book, The Dharma Bums, is a window into the daily structure of the Beat Generation.
Kerouac wrote The Dharma Bums while living the life of a bum, riding from city to city as a
stowaway on various trains. He used an old portable typewriter that fed from a large roll of paper, into
the typewriter, and back into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is almost always meticulous in certain aspects of a given scene while leaving out what one would
think are important details. However, the descriptions given are always enough to reveal a full, vivid
picture of moments, whether only gestures are described or wall paper.
The various scenes of the book are often unexpected, but the matter of fact style of writing usually
diffuses. Kerouac creates such a familiarity with his readers that it becomes assumed that any place
unusual to the reader is typical for him, and in this way he pulls the reader further into this world of
the Beat Generation. Oftentimes the scenes are set in the cramped places such as boxcars and single
room shacks frequented by Ray and his friends. Other times the scenes are places like cafe s and
restaurants around San Francisco, San Diego, and other, usually Californian, cities; however some of
Kerouac s most effective place descriptions throughout The Dharma Bums are found in the stories of
other places told by those Ray meets, rather than where he actually goes.
Among the most poignant aspects of The Dharma Bums is Kerouac s ability to use long narratives to
pull his readers into the experiences of the characters. The Dharma Bums is replete with the
explanation of the experiences of ancient Zen Buddhist thinkers and their experiences as they search
for enlightenment. Kerouac constantly accesses the ancient writings of Zen Buddhist monks. Using
such writings as a

Cima Mountaineering
Recommendations for Cima Mountaineering:
There are essentially following five options available to Cima Mountaineering as explained below:
Alternative 1: Maintain status quo. This option is not being selected because it ignores the current
market trends in the face of changing customer needs and wants. Also such an option does not address
any of the issues presently facing Cima.
Alternative 2: Enter the Weekender segment as suggested by Margaret Simon. This option appears to
be an attractive alternative, but it may put Cima s Brand name and image as a manufacturer of quality
shoes for Mountaineers and Hikers in jeopardy.
Alternative 3: Expand the presence in the current market segment by adding three new models to the

Let s now look a bit closely to the selected alternative. There are a number of challenges surrounding
this alternative, the biggest of which may be the widening of the focus area for the company and
spreading of the valuable management resources. It is, however, expected that the Company will
overcome such challenges through use of Anthony and Margaret s level of experience in the field and
their willingness to hire knowledgeable staff when necessary, as evidenced in the case study material.
Another significant concern in adopting this alternative is the apparent cost involved in a combination
strategy. It is proposed to tackle this concern in multiple ways as under: * Though the number of Boot
Styles to be developed will be more in this case, there will be many common expenses in their
development. * It is proposed improve and fasten the development process thro use of not only the
modern techniques and design practices but by putting one or more carefully selected and focused
cross functional teams having leadership and co ordination skills and dedicated to design creativity,
simplicity and speed . * It is proposed to employ the Concurrent Engineering Techniques where the
development teams will work in parallel rather than in sequence to achieve faster, better and more
economical results. * Lastly, the company appears able to borrow sufficient funds to develop,
manufacture and market additional designs.
Though it is expected that

Conspiracy Theories Of The Illuminati
There are many people in the United States who want to believe that the government is honest with
them, but do the people truly know everything or is there something that is being kept a secret? The
Illuminati was created as a secret government organization that was said to supposedly have control
over every single an aspect of the lives of the regular people. It started in the 18th century by Adam
Weishaupt ( www.theweek.co.uk.org ). The people who are apart of the Illuminati are said to be
famous stars within the popular media. For example, Beyonce and her husband Jay Z are said to be the
rulers, or leaders, of the organization. There are still a lot of controversies about whether or not the
Illuminati is still existing today. It is hard to say whether or not this secret organization exists. There
are many different conspiracy theories about the Illuminati. But once all of the details and theories are
sorted through and broken down, it is not hard to realize that there is something more going on than
the government is allowing the people to see. It is important when talking about the Illuminati to
understand where it all came from. As said previously, the founder of this organization was Adam
Weishaupt. The organization was also founded in Bavaria ( www.theweek.co.uk.org ). This group
wanted to create a new world order and were willing to do whatever it took in order to make that goal
happen. Back then, during the time of the group s existence, the government decided that

Others worry about the consequences of continued use of fossil fuels since humans are the cause of
this phenomena. Finally, a majority of people are very worried about global warming becoming a
reality since most mainstream scientists and scientific bodies agree that heat trapping gases like
carbon dioxide (CO2) . . . have caused temperatures to rise around the globe ( New Science. . . ).
The concern listed last is a perfect example of the power of hype. While many different sectors of the
media and even world governments proclaim that all scientists agree global warming is occurring, a
quiet majority is beginning to speak up. In 1992, a Gallup survey asked many climatologists. The
survey found that 81 percent respondents believed that the global temperature had not risen over the
past 100 years ( Global Warming Consensus . . . ). A survey conducted by American Viewpoint found
that climatologists believe that global warming is largely a natural phenomenon by a margin of 44% to
17% ( Global Warming Consensus . . . ). Along with this survey, other untruths are appearing about
claims that scientists who believe in global have signed thousands of letters warming. According to
the National Center for Public Policy Research, a letter used in a report by Ozone Action was actually
signed by landscape architects, a gynecologist, and a practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine (
Global Warming Consensus . . . ).

There are times that we will encounter meeting, seeing, or speaking to someone who practices a

ourselves. My project I interviewed someone who practices a religion different than my own and look
for any differences than myself. The person I interviewed was a gentleman who practices the religion
of Odinism, which is a religion that is considered polytheistic (the belief in many gods) with the
highest ranking god being Odin. The mere definition of someone who is an Odinist is the worship of
the Norse God Odin; someone who is primarily dedicated to Odin but can also sometimes be used

To correctly identify the range of a projectile when fired above the horizontal axis with only a meter
stick (i.e. no timer).
Background:
According to Henderson, speed is how far an object travels during a specific amount of time and does
not include the direction. Velocity can be explained as the speed of an object, but also including the
direction the object is heading towards (Henderson, 2015).
Giancoli states that the velocity of an object is taken with the magnitude the numerical value and the
direction of the object (Giancoli, 2009). Therefore, with these two qualities, velocity can be illustrated
as a vector.

Principles Of Data Quality Management
Principles of Data Quality
There are many principles for the data quality that ensure the data quality for the data entered to a
database. The most significant principles for the data quality include:
1 The Vision
2 The Policy
3 The Strategy
4 The collector has primary responsibility
5 User responsibility
6 Consistency
7 Transparency
8 Outliers
The Vision
It is very important for the big organization to get a high vision for their data and its quality especially
when the same data will be shared with other organization, companies or users. In the vision the
managers should focus on the resources that will use to build the data like the software, like the
database software and its capabilities, and the hardware like the computers and the routers and other
hardware equipment.
The Policy
As well as the vision, the organization should have a policy to implement its vision for the database,
which make the organization think to improve their database to reach its vision. Policy help the
organization to be more obvious about its goals with focusing on reducing costs, improving data
quality, improving customer service and relations, and improving the decision making process.
The Strategy
The organizations should have a good strategy to manage their database and data entry process.
Therefore, the organizations need to improve a strong strategy for capturing and checking data. The
good strategy must include some clear goals for the short, intermediate, and long terms, which

The Apology Of Socrates Analysis
According to Dr. Dave Yount, many Athenians still regret their decision to put Socrates to death to this
day. Is this feeling of regret acceptable? This paper will explore the details surrounding the trial of
Socrates and whether or not he was treated fairly throughout the sentencing process. In The Apology
of Socrates, Plato describes the charges against Socrates as not believing in the gods recognized by the
state, introducing supernatural beings, and corrupting the youth (246. 9 12). By considering Socrates
impiety, internal betrayal of the city, and arrogance and hypocritical words, it should be understood
that the Athenians were just in their verdict and punishment of Socrates.
It is argued that the charges brought against Socrates

Toulmin Analysis of Attraction Essay
Toulmin Analysis of Attraction
In The Mystery of Attraction, Harville Hendrix claims that attraction between human beings is based
on a number of factors that ultimately leave human beings baffled on exactly how humans experience
such intense emotions as seen in romantic love and why so many couples tend to have complementary
characteristics. He supports this claim by explaining several theories of attraction. His biological
theory of courtship states that we instinctively select mates who will enhance the survival of the
species (483). This theory suggests instinctive evolutionary attraction such as a female s rosy cheeks
on a slender frame and a male s muscular physique ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The backing for his warrants takes the form of a list which depicts ten main characteristics of a
marriage. Most of the characteristics are based around the subconscious mind of humans, placing
much emphasis on the basic needs and desires of a person. The results of a poll are also included at the
end of the essay which reinforces the author s exchange theory.
As a qualifier, Hendrix states that Although these three theories help explain some aspects of romantic
love, we are still left with our original questions (484). He says that despite a plentitude of research,
the answers remain a mystery.
Critique: I found this essay to be enlightening in several ways. Not only was the information presented
in an organized way, but it was also very interesting. I agree with the author s statements about the
trials and tribulations of relationships, and I find myself agreeing most with his biological theory of
attraction. I especially liked the psychological direction of the essay, as it remained fairly objective
and scientific while still presenting new and different ideas as witnessed by his inclusion of historical
facts with the addition of his own unique analysis and commentary

According To Ward Goodenough s The Interpretation Of Culture
One of the most significant and controversial elements found within the study of music is the
representation of culture. Although the definition of representation according to Merriam Webster is a
person or group that speaks or acts for or in support of another person or group, it is not as easily said
than done. The true act of representing another is both incredibly complex and challenging as it
contains many subjective variables. History, for example, has demonstrated the complexity of defining
what is true representation through the presence of leaders and authoritative figures who have failed to
truthfully represent the common man. As a result, the people who have no outlet for expression are
represented unjustly by those who do. Similarly, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, culture has become more located in the discussion and ways in which demonstrate such
complexity than truly demonstrating the complexities of man. It is presumed that in order for true
representation to exist, it must be complex and contain many variables in order to be true. One of the
most prominent questions surrounding representation in ethnography is how to convey complexity,
especially in a culture that is so vast. But if complexity becomes the root of representation, then
representation can very easily become fixated over how to cover all aspects of a culture and to focus
more on the scientific analysis and processes of articulating the traditions found within a culture than
the actual people found within the culture. Complexity, although still a significant factor in
representation, can lead to an deviation away from what the true focus of representation should be: the
people. Even though representation does indeed contain many complex factors and unanswered
questions, the focus of a study should not centralize solely on how to answer such questions. The
complexity of representation should instead be found within the thick descriptions of what can be
simply answered: the emotions and beliefs of the people. The only form of complexity found within
representation should be found within the thick descriptions of man, By doing so, the complexities of
man becomes the focus of what true representations involves instead of the complexity of

My Favourite Holiday Essay
The 7 day stay in Zermatt, Switzerland was my favorite trip to date. The crisp, chilly air. The clear and
blue skies and greenery everywhere blanketed by snow. It was a town I wouldn t mind to live in for
the rest of my life. It was the perfect place to unwind in after the hardest trip ever from Milan.
It was pretty early when we started to get into our taxi for the 30 minute ride to Milano Centrale, the
city s most famous station and landmark. But it was 10 minutes into the ride when we had received a
call from the hotel, saying that there is one piece of luggage that they had forgotten to load into the
taxi. As we were in a very tight schedule, we urged the taxi driver to try to beat the traffic so that we

Italy was known for its reckless drivers and complicated streets, so naturally we got stuck in the
middle of it. As we inched slowly through the traffic, I could hear my dad sigh repeatedly and my
sister starting to get impatient, bombarding my mom with questions regarding our trip and destination.
It was then when we had noticed our driver was muttering in Italian with an alarmed look on his face,
I leaned forward and followed his gaze towards the station which was just a few miles ahead. That
was when I noticed a huge crowd occupying the street in front of the station. It was evident by the
colorful signs and muted chants that a protest that was taking place. There were cars and trucks and
army police surrounding them, barking commands in Italian while they get yelled at by the enraged
protestors. All of a sudden, a deafening boom shook our cab, and the next thing we see are hundreds
of people running in all directions as the police threw sound bombs. We were terrified to say the least,
gawking out the window and the flurry of Italian youth clambered through the traffic to get away from
the advancing forces. Eventually after waiting for so long, traffic was diverted to go around the
complex and finally reaching the back of the train

UHS Water Quality
The water quality was excellent at the UHS creek, but not all creeks or streams have a great water
quality. The current water quality index for the UHS creek is 42. Some human impacts to keep this
water clean consists of a clean environment by not littering, picking up any garbage by/in the creek, or
making sure only pure water is flowing through the stream and not any sewer water. To prove the
point that some creeks don t have a great quality, but actually end up have an excellent water quality

One example is using bacteria to actually purify drinking water. Although, that seems like a horrible
solution, but according to a new study, certain species of microbes may help remove trace minerals
such as zinc, selenium and even arsenic from your drinking water in the future. Some pros are bacteria
will clean/purify drinking water and the creek water, zinc concentration makes bacteria a million times
higher in the surrounding water (will increase the water index quality), degrade herbicides found in
the water, Aminobacter Bacteria is harmless and still reduces 50% of BAM (a harmless substance),
reduces time and money spent, etc. Some cons include if the bacteria get mixed with invertebrates it
could damage a food chain by killing the invertebrates, some bacteria could cause health problems for
people smelling it, some carbon dioxide gets left behind, bacteria do not fully penetrate within the
sand filters leaves some harmful substances, bacteria don t work well with sand bacteria or just sand,
could kill the plants on the banks of the creek,

Boy Meets Girl
Boy Meets Girl: A Reflection Paper
This paper analyzes the film Boy Meets Girl. The story within the film revolves around a transgender
girl navigating her life space. The film will be critiqued on its portrayal of LGBTQ persons, relation to
course material, cultural factors, and discrimination/oppression of the main character. Finally, the
paper concludes with a personal reflection.
Portrayal of LGBTQ
The main character, Ricky, identifies as a transgender girl . The film does a good job emphasizing the
normality of Ricky s daily life experiences, while also including important distinguishing features. For
example, Ricky has conversations and outings with her best friend, Robby, but also experiences
uneasiness regarding her external appearances. The film portrays LGBTQ individuals in a humanistic
way such that the viewer empathizes with Ricky. Struggles are touched upon like the difficulty in
having to share transgender status in a safe space and have conversations about sexual history.
However, the film is weak in having a realistic portrayal of people reacting to Ricky being
transgender. Though the film does indicate that Ricky s mother left due to Ricky being transgender,
David having outward hatred towards her, and Ricky being denied acceptance to a school, the film
does not truly cover the depth of difficulties that transgender women face. ... Show more content on

The Regulatory Capital Is The Minimum Amount Of Capital
Q1
(a)
The regulatory capital is the minimum amount of capital that the financial regulator required the banks
or the financial institutions to hold (Elizalde Repullo, n.d.). It is used to help to avoid to risk and
reduce the losses that we may have but can t forecast. ( Bank Regulatory Capital Quick Reference ,
2016). The figure of the financial capital is directly set by the financial regulators. The balance sheet
capital is the equity part that we recorded on the balance sheet. The regulatory capital is like a
standard that all the financial institutions have to achieve. The financial institutions must maintain
their capital amount over the minimum amount that the financial regulator required (Elizalde Repullo,
n.d.). However, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1988, the Basel I was published by the BCBS. It is a new method to the measure the capital and
also it focused on the credit risk and appropriate risk weighting of assets (International convergence of
capital measurement and capital standards, 1988). Under the concept of the risk weighted asset, the
regulators can include the riskiness of the bank s activities into the calculations of the capital adequacy
(Lange, Saunders Millon Cornett, 2015).
The core requirement of the Basel I were 2 capital ratios: a minimum 4% for the tier 1 capital ratio
and the Total capital ratio for 8% (Lange, Saunders Millon Cornett, 2015). The tier 1 capital Ratio can
be calculated by the (common equity goodwill) / Risk weighted assets (RWA) and the Total capital
ratio can be calculated by Total regulatory capital / Total risk adjusted assets.
Basel II
In Basel II, it improved the measurement of the risk weighted assets. It includes the market risk, the
operational issues and the risks caused by the emergencies like the terrorisms or natural disasters
(Lange, Saunders Millon Cornett, 2015). The Basel II is more detailed than the Basel I. In the Basel II,
it creates a new frame, the Three pillar frame. The pillar 1 is the Minimum Capital Requirements. It is
to maintain the regulatory capital of the FI by calculating the 3 main risks, the credit risk, market

King Lear Reversal
All the above reversals or incongruities are to be present, in a lesser or more degree, in King Lear. To
begin with, the reversal of hierarchies strikes us first and foremost in the very opening of the play:
here one is met with an earlier sign of authority being loosened, when the king decides to divide his
own kingdom:
Meantime , we shall express our darker purpose― Give me the map there. Know that we have divided
In three our kingdom; and tis our fast intent To take all cares and business from our age, Conforring
them on younger strengths, while me Unburden d crawl toward death. (I. i. 35−40)
The reversal of roles starts right from this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And this is, in keeping with the poetics of grotesque realism, taken to be degradation conceived here
in terms of the Bakhtinian conception of the movement of the cosmic carnivaleque cartwheel. Hence,
Lear desires to divide his kingdom so that he Unburdened crawl[s] toward death (I. i. 40), which is so
central to Ronald Knowles s notion of the carnivalesque degradation as this implies going down to
earth, the grave, the womb.12 But Lear s degradation or crawling back again to the womb does not
necessarily mean that he is giving up the masculine monarch he is. Much to the contrary, degradation
here means for him digging a bodily grave for a new birth. 13 His wish to be mothered by the three of
his daughters is clearly shown in his selfish need to enjoy the parade of love he expects his daughters
to perform. Again Knight has this to say about this

How Long Should A Roof Fail Essay
Homeowners often ask the question, how long should a roof last? , yet there is no simple answer to
this query. Numerous factors play a role in the lifespan of a roof, from the type of shingles selected,
the climate in which the residence is located and roof maintenance. Sadly, many homeowners have a
new roof put on the home, then forget about it until a problem arises. They fail to inspect the roof
regularly, then when a storm hits or snow comes down, they hope and pray it holds up. Don t fall into
this category. With proper roof maintenance, a homeowner can feel secure, knowing their home is
protected by a strong and stable roof.
How Long Should A Roof Last?
The average roof, one constructed with asphalt shingles, should last a minimum of 20 to 25 years in
the event it is properly maintained. As the vast majority of homes in the United States currently have
an asphalt shingle roof, this applies to most homes. Metal roofs tend to be extremely durable and can
last 40 years or more, while tile roofs have an average lifespan of 50 years. Invest in a slat roof and it
may easily outlast the lifespan of the homeowner!
Why Roofs Fail?
Roofing materials may fail for a number of reasons. First and foremost, the elements do damage to the
roof and, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Revolutionary War Of 1775
Daulton Stevens
Mr. Shepard
Honors Government
17 November, 2014
The Revolutionary War How many individuals lost their lives? How many families suffered the loss of
a loved one? Almost seven years of torment and torture with families torn apart. Hundreds of
thousands of soldiers fighting for their beliefs. Just what were these soldiers fighting for?
The Revolutionary War of 1775 had many catalysts. The British government abusing its powers and
creating acts and laws disliked by the citizens of the thirteen colonies was one of the main causes for
the revolt. No taxation without representation , became one the the colonists forefront cries charging
the revolt ( Causes of the American Revolution ). Other contributing factors that led to The
Revolutionary War were the French and Indian War which gave Britain control of all of America, the
Boston Massacre, and the Boston Tea Party ( Causes and Effects of the American Revolution). There
were numerous acts that forced the colonists to pay taxes to Great Britain. The colonial legislatures
said that the colonies were different from Great Britain. These legislatures could make taxes, call for
troops, and they were able to pass laws too. The colonists viewed these taxes as unfair and unjustified
( The History Channel ). With each newly imposed act the colonists became more enraged. These Acts
include: The Stamp Act, Townshend Acts, and the Sugar Act.
In 1764, sugar imported from the West Indies began being taxed

Underage Alcohol Abuse Essay
Underage Alcohol Abuse
The Story of My Search Have you been stealing liquor from your aunt ? my mother asked me while
we were in the car on our way home. Her face looked disappointed and worried when she asked me.
This is a question most teens would have feared if they heard it come out of their parents mouth but i
knew I didn t do it so I was fine. I never thought my mother would actually ask me this question hence
that fact that i am under the legal drinking age but, liquor was disappearing from my aunts house and
it is only right to have suspicion that the teenager did it. I didn t like how they just suspected me of
doing it just because i am a teenager. Now every time i go over my aunts house they like to keep a

These books help start off my search into answering my question as to why people drink alcohol. I
then began to read more books focusing more on underage drinking. I wanted to learn more about the
effects of drinking on teens. What made teens want to drink? I then went on the web to find answers to
my questions. I found many answers that helped me understand more about why underage drinking
isn t such a good idea. I then interview my aunt Cori DuVall who was once a underage drinker. She
gave me many answers such as how it affected her, what the consequences were, why she wish she
never drank, and why she think teenagers shouldn t drink. By using the books, internet, and
interviewing my aunt I was able to find out more about the effects of underage drinking and why it
should be stopped.
The Results of my Search Drinking alcohol is like taking a drug. It is a worldwide problem. One of the
larger groups effected by alcohol is teenagers and young adults. According to the book Alcohol
Drinking to get drunk has become more common. Teenagers and young adults say they drink for the
buzz. As time progresses underage drinking becomes more relevant. Teens and young adults drink for
various reasons but don t think of the consequences or effects. Although alcohol abuse causes long
term and short term effects, young people still abuse it. Alcohol abuse causes many short term effects.
Injuries is one of them such as falls and accidents.

The Stereotypes Of Dishonesty And Flawless Relationships
Growing up, many have experienced that flawless relationship, whether it involves being a contributor
to one or just simply examining others. Watching movies, such as The Notebook, gave us such
extreme hopes as to what to expect when it came time for dating to become a part of our lives. Sadly,
once that time had arrived, dating made an unexpected turn for the worst.
Relationships tend to be dishonest. Having gone through a relationship, I understand what it is like to
be involved in a relationship like so with the person I once thought I could trust. Because I was proven
wrong, involving myself in another relationship, especially this early, is going to be really rare.
Having conversed with some friends who have gone through the same instance, they say that they will
probably not jump into another one until their career is set and their life is intact. The dishonesty is
mostly associated with not being told where or who the significant other is with or just blatantly lying
about it and saying they re somewhere they aren t. That idea of dishonesty tags along with the idea of

Informal communication channels are ones that develop outside the formal structure and do not follow the chain of command. They skip management levels and cut across lines of authority. In our case, there was no authority, so we naturally cut across those lines. One type of informal communication our company needs to watch out for is the grapevine. The grapevine is the unofficial communication system of the informal organization. The is a network of gossip and rumors that are called employee language. Our company shouldn t have any issues with the grapevine. Another is management by wandering around. • 3. The Soul Of A Deceased Child By Toni Morrison In 1873, just after the Civil War ended, a house numbered 124 on the edge of Cincinnati, Ohio is haunted by the soul of a deceased child. Sethe, an ex slave, and her two daughters, Denver and Beloved, occupy the home. The oldest daughter Beloved, however, happens to be the ghost haunting her mother and sister. The bond between a mother and her children is evident throughout Toni Morrison s 1987 novel, Beloved; seen in Sethe s lack of a relationship with her mother, and therefore, her desire to properly nurture her own children. Unfortunately, slavery does not allow for the existence of motherhood. The motherly impulse to protect one s children is innate, but in the dehumanizing realm of slavery, Sethe s maternal instincts are limited and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sethe s only other memory of her mother is when Sethe recognizes her mother s branding on her hanging body. This horrifying image sticks with Sethe her entire life, and causes her psychological agony. Sethe does not want her children to suffer the pain she has. She wants them to have a relationship with their mother, and especially not see her die. Sethe also remembers that as a baby she was deprived of milk from her mother to survive. Sethe was nursed by another woman, and recalls that The little whitebabies got it first and I got what was left nursed her. Or none. There was no nursing milk to call my own. I know what it is to be without the milk that belongs to you; to have to fight and holler for it, and to have so little left (Morrison 236). Sethe was malnourished and not fed by her own mother, which further stresses the separation between them. Sethe s few childhood memories of her mother make it extremely important to her to nurse her children. When Sethe is cruelly held down and robbed of this ability, she is more infuriated than the time she is brutally whipped (Morrison 19). When telling a fellow slave about the beating she endured before escaping, she reiterates, they took my milk! This emphasizes how imperative it was to Sethe to save her milk for her child. Sethe s lack of motherly nurturing and loss of her mother cause her to want a stronger bond with her own children and a better life for them. The idea that slavery discourages ... Truman was outraged by the Soviet Union s perceived resistance to American demands in Iran, Turkey and Greece, as well as their rejection of the Baruch Plan on nuclear weapons. In February 1947, the British government announced that it could no longer afford to finance the Kingdom of Greece in its civil war against Communist led insurgents. The US government s response to this announcement was the adoption of containment, the goal of which was to stop the spread of Communism. The HSR is an efficient and safe mode of transport which results in dramatic travel time savings. We will firstly analyse the cost and benefits of the HSR and we will try to discuss if the value of the project outweigh the MYR 40 billion construction cost. • 7. Analysis Of Sonnet By William Shakespeare Sonnet to science is a Lyric poem that gets ones attention from the first word. This Sonnet has high diction that through out the poem makes the readers aware of a serious concern the poet is trying to express. The title Sonnet to Science , can instantly bring to mind that the poem praise to science, however as the poem goes on, readers will realize is the exact opposite. The poem was written in the year 1829 right in the middle of the industrial revolution going on in Europe, a revolution that would affect every aspect of how things were done, and eventually translate to the United States. Basically many duties and tasks that were agrarian and rural became more industrial and urban. This could be the reason why Poe is starting to feel overwhelm by the changes science is doing in Society. The poem is being narrated by a poet that is worried and concerned about the danger of science and all the pleasures that science is ripping away from artists. With the emphatic use of literary devices such as metaphors allusions and high diction, it is seen that the poet sees Science as an enemy and the cause of destruction of a poet s fantasies and peaceful summer dream beneath the tamarind tree. Sonnet to Science , is a classic English or Shakespearean Sonnet of Iambic Pentameter divided into 3 quatrains and 1 couplet. It follows an ABAB CDCD EFEF GG rhyme scheme making it easy to catch the rhymes for the readers. The first quatrain sets up the theme. It tells the readers that the ... • 8. Classical Chinese Ethical And Political Theory Malcolm Johnson Prof. Michael Puett/TF: Peng Yin Ethical Reasoning 18: Classical Chinese Ethical and Political Theory October 17, 2016 Essay #1: The Daodejing In The Daodejing, Laozi, similar to many prominent Chinese philosophers before and after his time, discusses his unique perspective of the Way. There is much controversy, however, regarding whether Laozi was the actual author of this text or was even a real person, and his work is thought to have been a composite. (For the purpose of clarity, throughout this paper, the author(s) of The Daodejing will be mentioned as Laozi.) Laozi s vision of the Way is exceptionally challenging to define using words because of its metaphysical nature. Although this term is somewhat difficult to envision, it is what mankind should aspire and take action to be aligned with. According to Laozi, in readings in Classical Chinese Philosophy, the Way (or dao) is the source, sustenance, and ideal state of all things in the world (Laozi 158). It can be best thought of as the underlying guiding force of all events that occur in the universe, and mankind is closer to the Way when they realize that all things are interconnected and have an effect on one another. As might be expected, this vague definition isn t a foolproof depiction of the eighty one chapters in the Daodejing, but one is able to grasp a basic understanding of Laozi s ineffable doctrine. Although numerous chapters are meaningful and could provide ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Reflection On Final Reflection Final Reflection Essay I thought this class would be easier than it ended up being. You warned us of this on the first day of class, and you were certainly right. Fortunately, this resulted in me actually improving my public speaking skills, which I will certainly need as I go through my career. Most of the public speaking I d done before this class involved one on one, pitch style speaking. This one done at robotics competitions trying to present our project to judges. While this was certainly useful experience, it was very on the fly. It did not prepare me for this class I well as I thought it would. The class succeeded at its goal of making me improve my public speaking skills, and this improvement happened in three main areas; my engagement with the audience, my anxiety, and my understanding of an outline. Given these improvements, I feel much better prepared to handle public speaking experiences I will have in the future. One thing I really noticed I improved was my engagement with the audience. These two facets of speaking are clearly related, and they both improved for me over the course of the semester. For one of my early speeches, I got the feedback that the only person I made eye contact with was you for the entire speech. I was making an attempt at engaging with the audience, but I clearly failed. Noting this, it was something I tried especially hard to make sure I improved for my following speeches. It was at first awkward to manually move my head around the room without looking mechanical, but as I did it more and more it became natural. In my earlier speeches, you also noted that my speech pattern was very one note, and I believe I made progress on fixing this as the year went on. The other aspect that helped me improve in this area was reducing my speaking anxiety. The was the biggest thing that improved during this class. We were told that the only way to get over speech anxiety was to simply speak more, and doing that surely helped. I definitely was falling into the perfectionist trap at first, especially because of my stutter. Being willing to accept that I m going to make mistakes was an important part about getting through the speeches. Your advice about not stopping every time I made a ... Kerouac spent the bulk of his writing career riding trains from city to city, meeting people and writing books and poetry. He was among the premier writers of the Beat Generation, a group of primarily urban poets and writers who put the basics of life and their spiritual nuances into poetry with a beat. The book, The Dharma Bums, is a window into the daily structure of the Beat Generation. He is almost always meticulous in certain aspects of a given scene while leaving out what one would think are important details. However, the descriptions given are always enough to reveal a full, vivid picture of moments, whether only gestures are described or wall paper. The various scenes of the book are often unexpected, but the matter of fact style of writing usually diffuses. Kerouac creates such a familiarity with his readers that it becomes assumed that any place unusual to the reader is typical for him, and in this way he pulls the reader further into this world of the Beat Generation. Oftentimes the scenes are set in the cramped places such as boxcars and single room shacks frequented by Ray and his friends. Other times the scenes are places like cafe s and restaurants around San Francisco, San Diego, and other, usually Californian, cities; however some of Kerouac s most effective place descriptions throughout The Dharma Bums are found in the stories of other places told by those Ray meets, rather than where he actually goes. Among the most poignant aspects of The Dharma Bums is Kerouac s ability to use long narratives to pull his readers into the experiences of the characters. The Dharma Bums is replete with the explanation of the experiences of ancient Zen Buddhist thinkers and their experiences as they search for enlightenment. Kerouac constantly accesses the ancient writings of Zen Buddhist monks. Using such writings as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. According To Ward Goodenough s The Interpretation Of Culture One of the most significant and controversial elements found within the study of music is the representation of culture. Although the definition of representation according to Merriam Webster is a person or group that speaks or acts for or in support of another person or group, it is not as easily said than done. The true act of representing another is both incredibly complex and challenging as it contains many subjective variables. History, for example, has demonstrated the complexity of defining what is true representation through the presence of leaders and authoritative figures who have failed to truthfully represent the common man. As a result, the people who have no outlet for expression are represented unjustly by those who do. Similarly, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, culture has become more located in the discussion and ways in which demonstrate such complexity than truly demonstrating the complexities of man. It is presumed that in order for true representation to exist, it must be complex and contain many variables in order to be true. One of the most prominent questions surrounding representation in ethnography is how to convey complexity, especially in a culture that is so vast. But if complexity becomes the root of representation, then representation can very easily become fixated over how to cover all aspects of a culture and to focus more on the scientific analysis and processes of articulating the traditions found within a culture than the actual people found within the culture. Complexity, although still a significant factor in representation, can lead to an deviation away from what the true focus of representation should be: the people. Even though representation does indeed contain many complex factors and unanswered questions, the focus of a study should not centralize solely on how to answer such questions. The complexity of representation should instead be found within the thick descriptions of what can be simply answered: the emotions and beliefs of the people. The only form of complexity found within representation should be found within the thick descriptions of man, By doing so, the complexities of man becomes the focus of what true representations involves instead of the complexity of representation in and of itself. It was a town I wouldn t mind to live in for the rest of my life. It was the perfect place to unwind in after the hardest trip ever from Milan. It was pretty early when we started to get into our taxi for the 30 minute ride to Milano Centrale, the city s most famous station and landmark. But it was 10 minutes into the ride when we had received a call from the hotel, saying that there is one piece of luggage that they had forgotten to load into the taxi. It was then when we had noticed our driver was muttering in Italian with an alarmed look on his face, I leaned forward and followed his gaze towards the station which was just a few miles ahead. That was when I noticed a huge crowd occupying the street in front of the station. It was evident by the colorful signs and muted chants that a protest that was taking place. The film will be critiqued on its portrayal of LGBTQ persons, relation to course material, cultural factors, and discrimination/oppression of the main character. Finally, the paper concludes with a personal reflection. Portrayal of LGBTQ The main character, Ricky, identifies as a transgender girl . The film does a good job emphasizing the normality of Ricky s daily life experiences, while also including important distinguishing features. For example, Ricky has conversations and outings with her best friend, Robby, but also experiences uneasiness regarding her external appearances. The film portrays LGBTQ individuals in a humanistic way such that the viewer empathizes with Ricky. Struggles are touched upon like the difficulty in having to share transgender status in a safe space and have conversations about sexual history. However, the film is weak in having a realistic portrayal of people reacting to Ricky being transgender. Though the film does indicate that Ricky s mother left due to Ricky being transgender, David having outward hatred towards her, and Ricky being denied acceptance to a school, the film does not truly cover the depth of difficulties that transgender women face. ... It is a new method to the measure the capital and also it focused on the credit risk and appropriate risk weighting of assets (International convergence of capital measurement and capital standards, 1988). Under the concept of the risk weighted asset, the regulators can include the riskiness of the bank s activities into the calculations of the capital adequacy (Lange, Saunders Millon Cornett, 2015). The core requirement of the Basel I were 2 capital ratios: a minimum 4% for the tier 1 capital ratio and the Total capital ratio for 8% (Lange, Saunders Millon Cornett, 2015). The tier 1 capital Ratio can be calculated by the (common equity goodwill) / Risk weighted assets (RWA) and the Total capital ratio can be calculated by Total regulatory capital / Total risk adjusted assets. To begin with, the reversal of hierarchies strikes us first and foremost in the very opening of the play: here one is met with an earlier sign of authority being loosened, when the king decides to divide his own kingdom: Meantime , we shall express our darker purpose― Give me the map there. Know that we have divided In three our kingdom; and tis our fast intent To take all cares and business from our age, Conforring them on younger strengths, while me Unburden d crawl toward death. Much to the contrary, degradation here means for him digging a bodily grave for a new birth. 13 His wish to be mothered by the three of his daughters is clearly shown in his selfish need to enjoy the parade of love he expects his daughters to perform. Having conversed with some friends who have gone through the same instance, they say that they will probably not jump into another one until their career is set and their life is intact.
