For my factual project I plan on creating a car culture fanzine which has
subcultures such as car festivals, races, modifications etc. that all make the car
culture.
The thing that influenced me to create a fanzine was mainly because it was print
based but also because how it’s a mixture of pages full of images and pages with
information.This is because it breaks up the information from being too much
for the audience. But also it looked like a fun and interesting project to create
based around something I find interesting which is car graphics.
However I also got influenced by car shows such asYiannimize, Car SOS etc. and
someYouTube videos.This caught my attention because I like how unique each
car looked after being wrapped or if it was restored it looked brand new and
that’s when I decided that I wanted to be able to do something like that.That’s
why I'm aiming to do a car graphics career because I like both art and cars so it
includes the things I like, and I think it would be an interesting job to have.

However when doing the research for this project it also showed me
that’s there is more to cars than the fancy graphics and the mechanics.
So when doing this project I think it will give me a better understanding
of the car culture and what I want to do as a career.
It will also give me a clearer direction on which direction within the car
culture I could go in. So I think this will help me for my future career as
well as a fun and interesting project to create.

Creating
I plan to create a fanzine for my factual project
which is based around the car culture and its
subcultures which make the car culture.This is
because again I think it will be a fun and
interesting project to do but also because it's
based on something I'm passionate about. I also
chose to do a fanzine because it was print based,
and I like doing print-based projects but also if I
want to progress into car graphics again its print
based.
However when thinking about my fanzine I do
plan to create quite a few picture pages because
too much can bore the audience so when
thinking about this project, I need to make sure
it's engaging throughout the fanzine.This will be
quite difficult as I want to put quite a bit of
information in, but I could always change the
information into pictures if I need to.

Furthermore when think about how I'm going to create this fanzine, I
plan on using photoshop and some other software's such as gimp,
InDesign, illustrator etc.This is because I will be working at home and at
college mainly because of covid-19, so this does have an impact on my
project. But hopefully it will go the way I planned.
I also chose to do a fanzine because I the reason for this is because as a
visual person I like drawing and artwork but also I like cars which with
this particular subject I am able to incorporate all this to create a
fanzine of interest that is informative, has great car designs and good
quality images etc. With doing this I am also able to use different
software which builds my knowledge and experience further.
Overall I think this project might be a bit challenging, but I think I will be
able to achieve what I want to do because it's about something I'm
passionate about. So this will make things a little easier. I will also learn
a lot more about the car culture by the end of this project which will
also expand my knowledge on cars.

Car Festivals and Races Mood board

Mood board Analysis
Looking at the mood board there is a variety of
cars that arrive at festivals from old Minis to
brand new Mclarens. So when thinking about
my fanzine I plan to include a variety of cars
from old to new.Another thing when view this
moodboard is that a few of the images are
focused on a specific car or shot on an angle to
show a range of cars.
So when thinking about my fanzine I may need
to think about the angle that each image is
taken from and how it makes the audience view
the image, how they feel when they look at the
image etc. So I will need to consider the types of
images I use and of course if they link to the
relevant information.

Car Brand Mood Board Analysis
When thinking about my fanzine I plan to include a maximum of 6 car
brands and talk about the history of those brands, however depending
how long I have to create my fanzine it may only be brief about the
history of those car brands but also it depends on how much
information there is because I could end up boring my audience which I
don’t want to do.
However I do plan to do something like a mood board of the brands on
a couple of pages on my fanzine to show what I will be talking about in
my fanzine. However on the pages full of pictures I will try include
almost all the car brands but for the brief history pages about the
brands I will only use a maximum of 6 top car brands maybe 4
depending on the situation and how much time I have to create this
fanzine as I will need to do a reasonable amount of pages as well.

Car Graphics Mood
board Analysis
When thinking about my fanzine I plan to show a
variety of car graphics from plain graphics to
bright and colourful graphics.This is to help
make it appealing and engaging for my audience
but also because I will be putting information
about the types of graphics and how they are
applied and removed. However I will try to make
the information as engaging as possible, so my
audience don’t get bored because of all the
information.
I will also do a few pages with a range of images
with cars full of graphics to keep my audience
interested and make it appealing for them.

Car Modification Mood Board
Analysis
Thinking about my fanzine I plan to include the main modifications that
people put on their car and why they do it. I also plan to do a mood
board on a page of the types of modifications that I will be talking
about.This will help interest the audience and help make the fanzine
more appealing and engaing for them.
However looking at the images there are a lot of front and back views
of the cars, so when thinking about my project I will try to include
images from all angles of the car and a variety of cars from old to new. I
plan to do this to help engage my audience.

When thinking about my fanzine I plan to talk
about the role of a car mechanic/technician and
to show how they are an important part of the
car culture. However within this section I will use
key and short information so it isn't too boring
for my audience.
I will also make the information interesting for
the audience again, so they don’t get bored but
also to help give them an idea on the role of a
car mechanic.This is because car
mechanics/technician are the reason we drive in
cars today. so I will try make this fanzine fun to
read as much as possible.

Fanzine Mood board Analysis
When thinking about my fanzine I plan to use similar layouts for the
front cover like the ones I've used in my mood board and my research.
This is because I want to get a visual idea of how a fanzine looks like and
how the information within it is presented to their target audience.
I will then put these ideas into my project to help make my fanzine
interesting and appealing for my target audience. I will make sure to
put a range of information and images to help engage my audience.
However when looking at this mood board of front covers it has shown
me that the front covers are very basic and just have an image and title
on what the fanzine is based around.

Fanzines – front cover
When thinking about my fanzine, I need to think
about the fonts and layout for each page of the
fanzine.This is to help me get a rough idea of
how-to layout each page but also use it as a
rough guide.
For the front cover of my fanzine I plan to do a
simple and basic front cover like most fanzines.
This is where it has just the title and an image of
whatever the fanzine is based around.This is
because I don’t want to cram everything on the
front cover that’s why I'm doing a content page
which tells my target audience the five different
sections within the fanzine.
The font I plan to use for the front cover is arial
black this is because it’s a basic type of font that
can be easily read and the type of font works
really well as a title.

However when thinking about the colour of the front cover I
plan to use quite basic colours that work well together such
as red and black, yellow and white, blue and green etc.This
is because looking at my mood board and examples of
fanzines they seem to use basic colours.
This is because they use the colours that are mostly related
to the topic and help present what they plan on discussing
throughout the fanzine. So because my fanzine is based
around cars it will either have dull and dark colours or bright
and colourful colours or both.This is because many people
use a range of simple colours on cars some people go to the
extreme with the colour use also. However throughout this
fanzine I plan on making it suitable and appealing for my
target audience.

Fanzines – content page
When thinking about my project I do intend to do a style sheet to help
give me a rough idea of the layout of each pages. However for now I
plan on looking at the existing products of fanzines and seeing how
they are structured and explaining what I could include in my project.
So when thinking about my content page on my fanzine I plan to use a
similar layout to this one. But I plan to use less information than this
one and I just plan to put the 5 topics I plan on talking about.This is
because I want my audience to get an idea of what I will be including in
the fanzine, but I don’t want to put too much information in the content
page as it may put my target audience off from reading the fanzine.
However for the content page I may use a similar technicque to the one
in the picture and put all the text central or I may change it and align it
to the left.This depend on how it looks when creating this particular
page.

The colours I plan to use for the content page will be black,
white, blue and possible red.This is because I want the
context page to look simple but appealing enough to
engage the audience into wanting to read my fanzine. I
plan on using these colours because they help show
success, reliability etc. I also plan on using these colours
because it’s a mixture of dark and light colours.

Fanzine – pages
throughout the fanzine
Depending on the time I have to create my
fanzine I plan on creating around 24 pages.
However I plan on doing pages that are just
full of images, text or a bit of both.This is
because I want it to be as engaging as
possible to my target audience, but I also
want it to look appealing for them.
I plan on using a structure similar to these
pages mainly because it’s a fanzine but also
to help make it interesting for my target
audience.i also think that having a few pages
full of images will help the fanzine look like it
has a good range of colours rather than dull
or basic colours.

When considering about the pages throughout my fanzine, I
plan on using a variety of colours similar to the front cover
this is because I want the pages within my fanzine to catch
the audience's attention.
I want to be able to make it appealing for car enthusiasts
from all ages and backgrounds.

Mind map Analysis
When thinking about my project I
plan to use this mind map as a
rough guide in what to include
within my fanzine and the
structure of each pages. However
I didn’t do an ideas mind map
because I knew I wanted to do a
fanzine as it was print based, and it
was a new thing that I've never
done before so it seemed like it
would be a fun and interesting
print-based project.

When thinking about my fanzine I plan to
use the layout of each page for each topic
as a rough guide because any time within
this project I could end up changing
something. So I plan to use this as a rough
guide, but I will try stick to it as much as
possible or if I feel like I can make each
individual page look better when I am
creating them, I will do that.

Mind map – Context Analysis
When looking at my mind map and thinking
about my project I do plan on using these topics
as I have done research on these. However
depending on how much time I have and
depending how everything goes I may or may not
add some topics or take away some to help me
complete this topic on time.
I also plan on doing these topics because I think
they are the key parts that people find interesting
in the car culture but are also the key parts that
make the car culture.

The title section on my mind map I am still unsure about
as I think the title will change quite a lot depending on
how the rest of the fanzine looks. However I will use this
as a rough guide like the rest of my mind map, but I will
stick to the majority of it.

When looking at the colours section on my mind
map, I plan to use these colours in my fanzine
however depending how each colour looks with
the images and information I may add more
colours or I may take some colours or use
different one.This is because I want my fanzine
to catch the attention of my target audience but
also because I want my fanzine to stand out and
look better than some other fanzine.
