3. Research
The good thing that happened when doing my research is that I knew exactly what I needed to
research for my fanzine, so this made planning what to research quite easy. When doing my
research, I managed to find the information I needed for the topics I was researching on.This
also helped me get a better understanding of the car culture.
However, the issues I had while doing my research was trying to get my ideal audience and to
do this was to sign up to car forums and get car ethusiasts to complete my survey. But
because I was new, I couldn’t publish my survey link and so I had to use the target audience
that I was given at the start of the project. So, I couldn’t get an understanding of my ideal
target audience.
Furthermore, to help with this issue in the future I plan to sign up to car forums quite early
before I do another project based around cars. This is so I can get my ideal audience who are
passionate about cars.
4. Planning
The thing that went well with my planning was everything because I knew exactly what I
needed to do. I also knew what I planned on making and the topics I would include so it was
easy when it came to creating the moodbords and mind map.
However, there were some difficulties when it came to planning because I did find it hard
when it came to analysing the fanzine moodboard. As I have never done a fanzine before and
found it quite hard to get my headaround the structure and its aim towards the target
audience and how it would appeal to them.
The thing I would improve for my planning would be to understand the purpose of a fanzine so
I could analyse it better and it would be useful if I did understand the purpose of a fanzine
incase I had to do another fanzine in the future.
5. Time management
I think for this project I managed my time well as I believe I managed to complete my
research, planning, proposal and experiments on time. This was an improvement as from
previous projects I have struggled with completing things on time before.
However, when it came to producing the fanzine, I did feel like I was a little behind this maybe
because I didnt realise how much everything would take to do until I did it.This sort of made
me feel likei didn’t plan my production well but in the end, I managed to finish my production
on time.
To help me improve my time when it comes to production, I plan to wright down a schedule
on what I plan to do each day of production and set myself a time on when to complete each
task. This may be useful for future projects or I could not work at all, but I think it would be
best to try.
6. Technical qualities
When reviewing my project compared to other fanzines, I think that it
does have its similarities and differences. When comparing my fanzine to
there is some slight difference comared to other fanzines. Ive noticed my
fanzine is more of a dark theme compared to most fanzines which use a
lot of bright colours.
However, the similarities between the two fanzines is that it's just a basic
image on the front cover and some text explaining what the fanzine is.
7. Aesthetic qualities
Overall I think in a way my fanzine is quite
creative as it uses a variety of colours and
its unique in its own way. It also shows car
modifications in a way that I see them
however I had to be in the mindset of my
target audience to help make this fanzine
appealing and interesting for them.
8. Adience appeal
When looking at my project I think to some extent it appeals to the target
audience because of the type of fanzine it is. I think because it's based-on cars
and the modifications of cars I think it would spark some interest and draw my
target audience in.
I used this style to attract this audience as I wanted to create something
pleasing to the eye and to get their attention to read this fanzine
9. Feedback 1 - Jessie
What went well?
I think that the style of the fanzine is good and is eye catching for an audience that love cars
and wanted to know more about it. I also think that the use of different colours for the writing
is useful to know that they areall different sections. I like the use of different examples and
explaination in each catorgory
What didn’t go well and improvements?
I think that on the back cover there should be another cover of the next issue to further
promote the series, I also think that the back cover is plain unlike the front cover which pops
out to the audience faces the back people would just skip over so ifthere was a colour pop
behind the car then is could pop the rest of the information on the back
10. Feedback 2 - Faith
What went well?
I really like the overall visuals. I think it was pretty original especially the way you used
two opposite collours (e.g green and purple) and made them work well together. I
think that it is very eye catching and would be an interesting fazine for someone that
is into cars.
What didn’t go well and improvements?
I think that on the last page you should've made the car a different colour to make it
stand out like you did on the first page.
11. Feedback Review
Overall I think I agree with the feeback I have been given and I do think that I
could have possible made some changes to the image on the back page.
However I am happy with how my fanzine turned out and if I was to make this
project again I would take my feedback into consideration and make a better
version of this fanzine. But I am happy with how it all went.
