This document summarizes research on fabricating and characterizing a hybrid aluminum metal matrix composite with welding slag and flux using stir casting technique. Specifically, it reinforced aluminum alloy 6061 with 5%, 7%, and 9% welding slag and 4% magnesium oxide flux. Hardness testing found that hardness increased with higher reinforcement content. The stir casting method produced uniform reinforcement distribution. This research demonstrated improved mechanical properties from the composite fabrication process.

Evaluation of Mechanical properties of Aluminium based MMCBishal Bhandari
The aluminum 6061 MMC with Graphite,Fly ash and Magnesium used as reinforcement has got the higher value of hardness, toughness, less wear rate and less ductility compared to pure aluminium. Hence this composite can be deployed to make an piston rods, bush, aircraft body and automotive body parts.
APPLICATION OF ALUMINIUM HYBRID COMPOSITES IN AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRYBlaza Stojanovic
Strict requirements that are put on mechanical constructions from the aspect of increase of exploitation periods and reduction of their weights, therefore of their prices as well, implicate developments and applications of new composite materials with matrices of lightweight metals. Composite materials with metal matrices are used for engine cylinders, pistons, disc and drum brakes, Cardan shafts and for other elements in automotive and aviation industry. The most important type of metallic materials is composite materials with matrices of aluminium alloys due to a set of their beneficial properties. Improvement of mechanical, especially tribological properties of hybrid composites were provided by the use of certain reinforce materials such as SiC, Al2O3 and graphite in defined weight or volumetric share. New developed hybrid composites with aluminium matrices have significantly higher resistance to wear, higher specific stiffness and higher resistance to fatigue. By the increase of quantities of produced elements made of hybrid composites, decrease of their prices is induced that even further enlarge their applications. The applications of aluminium hybrid composites are considered from the aspect and with the focus on automotive industry.

Studies on Al8081-B4C Metal Matrix Composites Fabricated by Stir Casting MethodIJMER
Aluminium MMCs are preferred in the fields of aerospace, military, automotive, marine and
in many other domestic applications. In the present work, an attempt has been made to develop and
study the, Mechanical properties of Al-8081/B4C reinforced aluminium metal matrix composites. The
composite was prepared by using Liquid Metallurgy Route (Stir Casting Technique). Liquid state has
some important advantages such as better matrix particle bonding, easier control of matrix structure,
simplicity, low cost of processing, nearer to net shape and wide selection of material. Al-8081 alloy
was taken as the base matrix to which B4C particulates are used as reinforcements. Al8081-B4C
composites were prepared by varying weight percentage of B4C i.e 0 to 6 %, in steps of two. The
objective is to study the effect of B4C particulates on mechanical properties such as ultimate tensile
strength, yield strength and hardness of Al8081 alloy composites. The results of this study revealed
that, as the B4C content was increased, there were significant increases in the ultimate tensile strength,
yield strength and hardness in the composites as compared to the base matrix
Characterization of Al/WC/Fly ash Metal Matrix Compositesijtsrd
Metal matrix composites are formed by combination of two or more materials (at least one of the materials is metal) having dissimilar characteristics. In this present investigation, aluminium (Al 6061) as base matrix metal and tungsten carbide (WC) particulate, fly ash as reinforcements. Fabrication of MMCs was done by stir-casting process. The Tungsten Carbide particulate was added in proportions of 1%, 2%, and 3% and Fly ash was added in proportions of 2%, 4%, and 6% on mass fraction basis to the molten metal. The different combination sets of composites were prepared. Mechanical properties like tensile strength and hardness were studied for both reinforced and unreinforced Al 6061 samples. Microstructure examination was carried by using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) to obtain the distribution of tungsten carbide particulate and fly ash in base matrix. From the results, it was found that the tensile strength and the hardness of the prepared metal matrix composites increased with increase in tungsten carbide and fly ash content. The Scanning Electron Micrographs of the samples indicated uniform distribution of tungsten carbide and fly ash particles in the base matrix without voids before testing and with voids after testing. WEAR STUDIES ON THE HEAT TREATED AL6061-μSIC AND AL6061-NSIC METAL MATRIX COM...IAEME Publication
Metal matrix composites (MMCs) have a potential for enhanced wear conflict in
excess of the unreinforced aluminum alloy and are the most capable in achieving
enhanced mechanical properties. In the present investigation, composites of Aluminum
6061(Al6061) matrix material is reinforced with micron size Silicon carbide (μSiC)
reinforcement with 5, 10 and 15 weight percentages (wt.%) and nano size SiC (nSiC)
with 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 wt.% are fabricated by stir casting technique. The stir casted
composites are further heat treated and the specimens are prepared as per ASTM
standards to conduct hardness and wear tests. The fabricated and heat treated nano
composites showed enhancement in hardness and wear resistance more than the micro
composites. The microstructure of the worn out specimen are examined by scanning
electron microscope. Taking into contemplation all the factors, it can be concluded that
aluminum based composite with 1.0% by weight nano SiC reinforcement acquire
superior wear resistance properties as compared to micro SiC reinforced aluminum
metal matrix composites.

The wear and mechanical properties of composites improve with increasing the weight fraction of flyash. The aim of present study is to evaluate the effect of microstructure, mechanical and tribological properties of aluminium alloy Al2024/flyash metal matrix composites
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.
