This document provides a literature review for a study on the tribological and mechanical properties of aluminum reinforced with silicon carbide and red mud using stir casting process. It outlines the project team members and abstract, which discusses forming metal matrix composites by combining two materials including a metal to produce dissimilar properties. The literature review examines previous research on aluminum composites, including fabrication processes, characterization techniques, and analysis of properties like wear resistance and strength. The methodology will select materials, fabrication technique, testing parameters, and technology needed like a pin on disc machine, SEM, UTM, and hardness tester.

3. Abstract
metal matrix composites are formed by combination of two or more materials (at least
one of the material is metal) having disssimilar properties.in this present investigation
aluminium as base matrix metal and silicon carbide, red mud as reinforcements. For
Fabrication of MMC we are going to use stir casting process.the combination of
composite material is prepared.tribological and mechanical properties like
microstructures,wear,frictional properties were analysed by scanned electron
microscopy and tensile,compression strength,hardness were going to study by
different machines.
