Analysis Of Harrisburg University Of Science And...
Executive Summary Harrisburg University of Science and Technology located at 326 Market Street,
Harrisburg, Pennsylvania 17101 is a growing major educational hub which is attracting more students
and faculty per every passing year. As a result of which, there is a growing need to accommodate all
the vehicles and cars that the students and faculty uses to get to the University. The current location of
the university is right in the middle of Downtown Harrisburg and therefore the constraints on the
parking situation are pretty stringent. Harrisburg University, apart from regular day to day classes, also
holds executive classes for online students thereby keeping the number of attendees to the school
equally high even on the select weekends. As of January 11, 2016, the University had 400
undergraduate, 2600 graduate students and 150 full and part time faculty and staff. [1] The University
only has one (1) 16 story academic building and the Harrisburg Parking Authority operates a garage
within the same building. This garage, opened in 2005, is a 9 floor parking sandwiched in the 16 story
are hidden from the view so that the building has more of a presence in the Downtown area [2]. Apart
from this allotted parking, Street Parking may be available and is free on the Weekends and after 5:00
PM on Weekdays. This proposal is initiated as a result of the growing need for a more comprehensive
approach to plan the campus parking , both as it relates to current campus activity and

There should exist at least 16 PCRs, normally 16 to 24 PCRs. They are all protected locations inside
the TPM volatile storage. Since the number of PCRs is limited, if there are more measurements need
to be stored, a measurement metrics will be measured. This metrics is associated with time and the
new value will be stored. The way of PCR updates hash value is PCRi New = HASH (PCRi Old value

That means on one hand the new measurement value always combines with previous measurement
and new one. When measuring two operations, the values of measurement result are different based on
the order of operations. On the other hand, given a measurement value, there is no computational way
to determine inputs. The TPM can sign the hash value as measurement in the PCRs with key and

With so many options with materials, colors, and textures, tile is a versatile finish that can be used on
walls, floors, and countertops. One of the challenges with tile, however, is keeping it clean. Everyday
living can be hard on tile. Dirt and grime can smudge the surface and settle into the grout lines.
Professional cleaning is the best way to maintain the tile and grout to glistening perfection.
Here are 10 benefits you will get when you have your tile and grout professionally cleaned.
1. Gives you brand new looking tile
Older tile has a charm that newer tile just does not have. The problem with older tile, though, is that it
can look tired and worn just because it is dirty from years of use. A professional cleaning can change
that.

These microscopic organisms take hold in the tiny crevices and cracks found in tile and grout. If left
unchecked, mold and bacteria can actually pose a health hazard to the people living in the home.
A professional cleaning can eliminate mold and bacteria growth in tile and grout. The steam kills the
microscopic organisms and flush them away. It leaves behind a clean, almost sterile surface.
3. Improves the look of your home.
When tile and grout is looking dirty and old, it will bring down the look of your entire home. You can
have freshly painted walls, brand new furniture, and even a brand new kitchen. But, if your tile looks
dirty and unkempt, it won t matter.
Having a professional clean all the tile and grout in your home will give it a fresh appearance. That
will make the rest of your home look like the shiny showcase you envisioned.
4. Does not damage the tile or grout
If you try to clean the tile in your home yourself, you are going to need to invest in a number of
cleaners. Granite requires a different cleaner than ceramic tile. Tiles with texture need special care
while hand made tile needs a special

Analysis Of Charlie Leduff s Who Killed Aiyana
I can accept the shooting was a mistake, Jones said about his daughter s death as a bleary eyed Stanley
sat motionless next to him. But I can t accept it because they lied about it. I can t heal properly
because of it. It was all for the cameras. I don t want no apology from the police. It s too late (LeDuff,
122). In Charlie LeDuff s story Who Killed Aiyana he discusses the tragic loss of a little girl, all that
lead up to her death and the tragic evet that occurred. The First 48 television show was filming an
episode about a shooting that had occurred nearby involving the father of Aiyana and a teenager
named Je Rean Blake (who had been shot and killed). The cameras were outside the little girls home
and SWAT team that was trying to get into the home ended up throwing in a grenade through the
window and landing nearby Aiyana. Then the lead commander, Officer Joseph Weekley shot his gun
and Aiyana was killed. The SPJ code of ethics were clearly broken many times throughout the
reporting of this story on The First 48. Minimizing harm is one of the main sections of the SPJ ethics
code and is the category that was very much broken by the reporters on this case.
The SPJ code of ethics state, Balance the public s need for information against potential harm or
discomfort. Pursuit of the news is not a license for arrogance or undue intrusiveness Was the need to

Characteristics Of Secret Societies In The 18th Century
In the eighteenth century, Europe had the largest number of Secret Societies. There were three trends
that Secret Societies got something good out of: The Enlightenment (a philosophical movement
(Locke, Montesquieu and Voltaire) advocating human reasoning over obedience while strengthening
the reasons for Scientific thinking), Enlightened Despotism (where society of every rank and status
felt their values were threatened by the state. Freemasonry therefore seemed very appealing as it
taught ways of conveying ancient wisdom and virtue), and The growth against the reasoning of
Rationalism and Enlightenment as well as the fascination for nature s secrets which brings about a
mystical, magical and even occult exaltation.
As secret societies is the topic at hand, i d like to start by speaking about secret societies before
continuing with the classification of secret societies for the purpose of developing the discussion.
Secrecy is defined as an exclusion of reciprocal knowledge by members of associations and the
concealment is premeditated. As having full knowledge of any information is trusting, the complete
absence means distrust. It is very natural for us to understand that what is forbidden is permitted and
for what is not permitted is forbidden. Secrecy is one of the greatest accomplishments of humanity as
the purposeful concealment and aggression against the other party is most effective with negative and
positive outcomes. There will always be a small ratio of

The Learning Style Inventory ( Lsi )
This assignment came to life because of the two theorists P. Honey and A. Mumford. They researched
on how to put together a project in order to identify the learning styles. The starting point of this
scheme was supported by the Kolb learning style inventory (LSI). Finally, they came up with the idea
of a questionnaire. They gathered eighty questions together, containing four different learning styles
along with characteristics of the person/s that might fit in. The image below represents the theory
along with the learning styles produced. (workpress.com, 2011)
Many people will argue that the theory discussed is `not a psychometric instrument, but a checklist
about how people learn`; furthermore, it could expose the `danger of labelling people as theorists or
pragmatists, when most people exhibit more than one strong preferences (F.Coffield, 2004, p. 28).
Perhaps that every individual from this Planet is different and unique, this is a fact. The same like
being different means that we have diverse ways of perception towards new concepts and ideas
(learning in general). However, we all have similar ways of approaching and understanding, therefore
learning. The two theorists did not necessarily intended to say that certain people have certain learning
styles; conceivably, they just wanted to help people recognize themselves and other people around
them in order to learn and work more efficiently. As we are so unpredictable, at least to know from

Microsoft And A Single Software Program
If you know anything about technology and the biggest companies out there, then you have definitely
heard of Microsoft. Microsoft was founded by Bill Gates and Paul Allen, two 19 year olds, with an
idea of a single software program to run an entire computer. This was the main idea behind Windows
operating systems. He had started the company on April 5, 1975 in Albuquerque, New Mexico with
some of his friends. What they didn t know is how huge Microsoft would grow to in the tech field.
With their control program for microcomputers that went into the IBM personal computer and with
Microsoft Windows they just excelled in the market and became a force to be reckoned with.

Beast Of The Southern Wild Essay
Wonder is an emotion felt when someone sees or experiences something that they have not
experienced before. It is often a mixture of amazement and surprise. Most adults grow out of this
childish emotion as they grow older and experience life, but there is much in this world that can leave

The Legal And Economic Concerns Of Copyright Laws
As computers and the Internet have become widespread illegally downloading files has become
cheaper and easier than ever before. Copyright laws are broken so often the basis of them are put into
question. Each new generation of musicians, writers, and artists face more difficult odds at making a
living from their passion. This paper will discuss the legal and economic concerns of copyright laws.
First, this paper will describe the background and history of copyright laws. Then, this paper will
cover the concepts of ownership and stealing. It will then discus file sharing and how it has affected
the entertainment industry. Finally, it will conclude with a look at how a hypothetical system without
copyright laws would function.
The World Intellectual Property Organization is an international organization whose purpose is
promoting innovation and creativity by ensuring that the rights of owners of intellectual property and
creators are globally protected, and that authors and inventors are thus rewarded and recognized for
their ingenuity.[1] The term intellectual property refers to the creations of the human mind and
includes patents, trademarks, trade secrets and copyright.[1] Copyright allows the creator to have full
control over reproduction, distribution, ownership, broadcasting, communicating to the public,

Summary Of Prokofiev s Harmonic And Key Relations
Prokofiev s Harmonic Idiosyncrasies and Key Relations in the Classical Symphony Prokofiev s
Classical Symphony is, oddly enough, one of his few pieces to garner much theoretical and
musicological interest. However, much of it seems to be misguided at best and more likely missing the
point altogether. This is not to say that everyone is wrong, to the contrary, most folks are not, the
problem is that the theorist and musicologist cannot seem to get on the same page. The enduring
question is not, as most would see it, whether or not the Classical Symphony is in fact classical (or for
that matter, if it is a symphony at all some have stated that it is more of a divertimento) but rather why
it is so infectiously hip and so absolutely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Richard Bass, however, does seem to understand Prokofiev s language, even though he does not write
about the first movement of the Classical Symphony. He describes Prokofiev s language as chromatic
displacement. I describe it the way a jazz musician might, which is sidestepping, but it is really the
same thing. Malcom Brown rails against Prokofiev for his shoe horned return to the tonic in the
second half of the primary theme, yet that is what makes the whole phrase work. That is what made it
Prokofiev s and no one elses. This detour, by half step or whole step is the underlying modus operandi
for much of Prokofiev s melodic ideas. We hear it in Peter and the Wolf, in the 5th symphony Scherzo,
in Mercutio, from Romeo and Juliet, and we hear it in the first twenty seconds of the Classical
Symphony. So with that in mind, I will be analysing Prokofiev s Classical Symphony through the
lense of harmonic variance, and occasionally rhythmic variance, since harmonic weight and
hypermeter are so often entwined. I will discuss, along with the basic formal structure of each
movement, Prokofiev s unique harmonic language as sussed out in the classical style. The opening
bars of the first movement is a Mannheim Rocket, straight out of the classical world of Haydn. This
leads immediately into the first theme, in the key of D major. All is well and good until the first theme
repeats, but this time down a whole step to C major. I bVII is

Panda Research Paper
The ancestors of Ailuropoda melanoleuca, which are also known as giant pandas, evolved about 40
million years ago. The pandas are native to Sichuan, Shaanxi, and Gansu areas in China with their
largest population in the Minshan, Qinling, and Qionglai mountain ranges. However, their smallest
populations are in the mountain ranges of Lianshan, Daxiangling, and Xiaoxiangling. In 1974 1977,
the estimated population was 2, 459 and had then experienced a major decrease, but is now increasing
and is currently at 1, 864. Ailuropoda melanoleuca have stocky bodies with a round head, that contains
a large muscular jaw, and a short tail. The body is a white color, although, the limbs, ears, shoulders,
and eyes are a black color. In some areas, the black color has a chestnut red colored tinge to it. On the
panda s palms, there is an extra pseudo thumb, which is also known as the panda s thumb . The name
masks what it really is because the extra thumb is a pad of skin that protects a wrist bone. The height
of one panda ranges from a little less than five feet to almost six feet while their weight can range
between 176 to 275 pounds. Everyone knows that giant pandas eat bamboo, which is a woody grass
plant making them herbivores, but giant pandas are actually omnivores. Their diet is 99% bamboo but

My Adventure Experience
All of my life, I loved exploring and finding beautiful places. I loved climbing that mountain, getting
to the top of that building, climbing that jungle gym. It was fun for me. I have had many fun
experiences doing this, and this story I wish to tell you is one of the most interesting, because I have
the most fun exploring the unknown.
During the summer, I went to a nearby park called Prophetstown. It s a park with a recreated farm
from the times of William Henry Harrison and Tecumseh. During my exploring, I came across a fence
behind a forest. I managed to squeeze through it, and found a very large hole, around 100 wide, 30
feet deep, and at least a quarter mile in length. I slid down . After that I threw rocks at the 30 foot cliff,
which made some of the rocks in it fall down. I did this until there was a noticeable pile of pebbles
surrounding me. I decided to go explore further into the pit, where I found more piles of gravel, as
well as bulldozers and shovels. Eventually I found an opening that led to a swamp. The mud near the
water made your feet sink into it, and the rest of the land was covered in hard bamboo like plants,
making me forced to step through the wet and slimy mud. After some time, A dock came into view,
and I stepped on, my once new shoes covered in mud. The dock had a canoe attached to it, full of
emergency supplies such as a flare gun, food, and water. It didn t make much sense to me because the
swamp was very small. A couple of feet from the canoe, I

Pat Conroy s Memoir The Water Is Wide
Segregation in America has only just recently concluded. But during the writing of The Water is Wide,
the people of Yamacraw Island must infinitely live in their stagnant lifestyle of illiteracy, and
ignorance. The children from the island have received values and beliefs passed down from their
parents. In Pat Conroy s perspective, the government neglected Yamacraw Island and caused these
values and beliefs to remain in use. In the memoir The Water is Wide by Pat Conroy, the author
stresses the impact that segregation and national ignorance has on the people of a socially isolated
town on Yamacraw Island, South Carolina. Mrs. Brown, the first schoolteacher on the island, most
clearly demonstrates the theme of national ignorance. Mrs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Every so often, Mrs. Brown pokes her head in and attempts to steer Pat Conroy s teaching methods
back on course in her favor. Pat Conroy works for a revolutionary change in the students, while Mrs.
Brown s continues a heartless attitude towards the children. One day in class, Mr. Conroy tries to
collect the students prior knowledge. Pat Conroy peruses their psyche s by asking questions, starting
from moderately hard, then gradually decreasing to basic knowledge. He eventually decreases the
difficulty to one incredibly easy question to the normal American. For example, Pat Conroy relates,
What country do we live in, gang? Everybody tell me at once, I exhorted. No one said a word. Several
of the kids looked at one another and shrugged their shoulders (Conroy). This quotation clearly
demonstrates that the government almost completely neglected the students of Yamacraw Island. The
students cannot even comprehend the name of the land that they stand on, which focuses on survival
in the modern world. The title of the book, The Water is Wide, stands as an appropriate choice because
the small river exists as the only thing separating Yamacraw Island from the rich, fulfilled life of the
outside world. When someone crosses the river, everything taught to him or her becomes nonexistent
on this new planet called Yamacraw Island. The people of the Island live a completely different

Human Disconnection In Fahrenheit 451

their surroundings they don t notice. A good example of this is Montag

Similarities Between Willy Loman And Death Of A Salesman
As Jean de La Fontaine once said, Beware, so long as you live, of judging men by their outward
appearance . In Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman, the protagonist, Willy Loman, constantly
struggles to make ends meet and cannot achieve success. Willy Loman is a 63 year old travelling
salesman who lives with his wife, Linda Loman, and his two sons, Happy and Biff. Willy is concerned
with wealth and success, and believes appearance is responsible for achieving both. However, this is
not true: Willy fails to acknowledge his misconception, inevitably resulting in mental collapse and
death. Likewise, in D.H. Lawrence s The Rocking Horse Winner , Lawrence suggests wealth is not the
only pathway to happiness and success through the protagonist, Paul. Paul is haunted by voices in his
house which contribute to his obsession of gambling as the voices pressure him to earn money. Paul
fails to achieve the happiness and success he wants due to his false beliefs constructed solely on
appearance in the end, he too, experiences mental turmoil and death. Therefore, both Willy and Paul
wish to achieve success, wealth and happiness, but their attempts are futile due to their materialistic
beliefs grounded on illusion. False beliefs are held by Willy Loman regarding his social status and
position as a salesman. Willy believes he is very successful as he says, America is full

Disruption in the Airline Industry

Abstract

Disruption in the Airline Industry Conceptual air carrier, Poppi, provides the framework for an
analysis that will be discussed throughout this paper in regards to disruptive technologies and their
effect on the airline industry. Baltzan (2015, p. 231) observes that disruptive technologies are a new
way of doing things that initially does not meet the needs of existing customer. Shu (2015) offers the

Similar to Uber and Airbnb, Teague s concept would absolutely offer disruption to the status quo of air
travel (Shu, 2015). The conceptual air carrier is called Poppi and they have analyzed the stress
experienced by travelers and other industry shortcomings to focus on the needs of the passenger while
ignoring established industry practices. Would these radical ideas offered by Poppi create a wake up
call for the airline industry, and particularly legacy carriers? Professor Taneja explains that most
airlines acknowledge the importance of disruptive innovation, however, their degree of reaction varies
greatly from one carrier to another (Accenture, 2017). He also notes the industry is divided in their
reaction to disruption with some continuing business as usual and others completely overhauling how
they do business altogether. Strategies for transformation in dealing with each carrier s workforce,
processes, and legacy systems requires the right mindset and leveraging emerging technologies. Poppi
attempts to addresses these issues while focusing on what bothers air travelers most and changing the
mindsets of major carriers to envision the future of air travel. Wilson (2015) reports Devin Liddell,
Teague s principle brand strategist, would eliminate carry on luggage and reduce the size of overhead
bins to only accommodate personal items such as computer bags and jackets. Teague conducted

Ifrs Adoption Affects Taxes, The Mergence Or Adoption Of...
IFRS Adoption Affects Taxes The mergence or adoption of the International Financial Reporting
Standards (IFRS) in the United States will affect the taxes a company will pay due to the differences
in IFRS and U. S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). One major hurdle to this
happening is to get the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the International
Accounting Standards Board (IASB) to agree on exactly how this will happen. For most U.S.
companies, a major concern is how this adoption of IFRS will ultimately affect the way they do
business, how it changes reporting, and how it will affect the company financially. A real concern is
changing from a rules based standard (GAAP) into a principles based standard (IFRS) used
throughout the rest of the world. From a tax perspective, the focus of this research is to show how
some of the required changes in Last In First Out (LIFO), inventory evaluation (LCM), and revenue
recognition be changed using IFRS.
Last in first out The use of LIFO as an inventory management system is recognized as one of three
management systems and has been accepted by GAAP. However, IFRS does not recognized LIFO as
an acceptable management system. Many advocates of LIFO argue that it provides an accurate
revenue match with expenses since sales reveal the most recent selling prices, then the cost of goods
sold should also reflect the most recent inventory purchasing costs. However, the ending inventory

NCAA Recruiting Analysis
College athletics have become huge business. Therefore, coaches are under pressure to sign the best
recruits. Jim Harbaugh went so far as having a sleepover at a recruit s house (Schwartz, 2016).
According to Remillard (2014), Texas A M used a helicopter in their recruiting efforts (p. 7). These
two examples are within the NCAA recruiting rules. However, many programs violate the rules every
year to gain an advantage in recruiting. Unfortunately, many programs, like Louisville, use sex or
money to entice athletes to come to their program (ESPN, 2015).
Some programs are even using their uniforms as a recruiting tool (Crabtree, 2013). Our post literate
culture is becoming more focused on images and quick messages. Recruiters must continue to evolve
their recruiting techniques in order to convince the best recruits to come to their program. In a

Psychodynamic Theories Of Psychology On The Subconscious Self
Psychodynamic theories of psychology focuses on the subconscious self, influencing behaviors of an
individual and are used to explain the development of mental illness and abnormalities. The basis of
psychodynamics is Sigmund Freud s theory in which he describes three states of mind vying for their
preferred goal: the Id concerned with obtaining pleasure, the Superego concerned with upholding
morality, and the Ego which uses reason to balance the desires of the two extremes. Freud describes
three levels of consciousness the conscious which is what ideas we always know about, the
preconscious which is ideas that we can make conscious, and the unconscious which is the ideas that
are underneath our understanding which may include suppressed memories of traumatic events. He
sees human motivation coming from a vague notion of instincts which include the life instinct which
drives people to stimulate themselves/survive and the death instinct which drives people to be calm,
serene, slipping into death. Freud gives great importance to human sexuality in his theories by linking
such dilemmas during the childhood stages of development of the sex instinct to mental problems in
adulthood in the form of subconscious ideas about the past influencing current actions. He sees
defense mechanisms in people s actions as an attempt to protect the person s view of self or to protect
from revealing something they don t want known, certain cues like forgetting what to say reveal that

Ice Cubes
Data Analysis Does the type of liquid of an ice cube affect how long it takes to melt? The hypothesis
was: if an ice cube made of water is allowed to melt at room temperature; then it will melt slower than
other ice cubes made from other types of liquids. The liquid the ice cubes were made of is the
independent variable. The control variable for the experiment was the ice cube made of plain water.
The experimental group are the ice cubes made from other liquids. The time it took takes the ice cubes
to melt is the dependent variable. The three control variables are the temperature of the freezer, the
amount of liquid to make the ice cubes, and the ice cube tray. After 10 minutes of the ice melting is

There were three trials for each liquid. Liquid 1 had an average melting speed of 56 minutes and 43
seconds. Liquid two did not freeze, because the freezer was not cold enough, the freezer had to be
1.85 degrees Celsius to freeze. Liquid 2 has an average melting speed of 0. Liquid 3 had an average
melting speed of 49 minutes and 3 seconds. The type of liquid used to make ice cubes did affect its
melting time. The liquids melt at different times. Liquid 3 melted faster than the other liquids. Liquid
2 did not freeze, therefore it could not melt in the first place. Liquid 1 was 7 minutes and 43 seconds
behind in the average melting time. The independent variable was the liquid used to make the ice
cube. The dependent variable was the time the ice cube took to melt. Liquid 2 had not even a single
flake to melt. The outcome of the experiment makes sense, because soda has more sodium than water.
Soda has 33 milligrams and water has 15 milligrams of sodium. The amount of sodium in the soda,
which is less than in the water, is an extraneous variable. One of the extraneous variables of the
experiment are the temperature of the table. Another extraneous variables are: the amount of light
created from the sun, there were windows open during the experiment. There are more extraneous
variables such as the way the ice cube melted, or froze. If the ice had more time to freeze, or less, the
outcome of the experiment would have been

1984 George Orwell Quotes
1. Having his uncle assassinated because of his involvement with MI6, a secret intelligence agency for
the British Government, Alex was told (by the agency) that Ian had died in a car accident. However,
this was revealed to him as a lie when Alex ventured into a junkyard and found Ian s car. The sight of
the car was devastating to the eyes of such a young boy. Everything came to him right away; the
windows were all shattered, the side panel had a huge dent, and the tires didn t even look like tires
anymore. The theme of secrecy and covering up your dirty tracks in this novel is shown as a negative
theme because of the psychological effects it can have on certain people once they find out about it. I
chose this quote because it was how the author described the car ... Show more content on

After a rookie mistake had Alex made, he was caught as an undercover spy. Sayle made Alex tell him
everything: who he was working for, what his mission was, and how he intends to stop him. In return,
Sayle told Alex all of his plans: he intended to infect the country he once loved with a deadly virus
because the person who bullied him back in high school became the Prime Minister of England. He
developed hatred for any changes the new Prime Minister brought in, until he couldn t stand the
country anymore. He wanted England to start anew, without a Prime Minister he despised and without
the many citizens looking up to him. The quote I chose is one of Sayle s lines, telling us that what he
has accomplished means nothing because the person who called him names a long time ago is more
successful. This shows the childish side of a multimillionaire criminal mastermind. The themes I took
from this quote and its corresponding picture include jealousy, egoistic/arrogant mentalities, and the
self absorption that leads to a childish mentality of even adults. A heinous act based on bullying that
took place many years ago was, without a doubt, an extremely childish act, especially for a grown

Hero Journey
Joseph Campbell describes the 17 stages that occur during a hero s journey, also known as Monomyth.
The Odyssey by Homer is a story based on Ulysses and his journey, I will be describing the stages of
Monomyth based on Campbell s ideas. These stages will focus on Ulysses and his son Telemachus.
According to Joseph Campbell, a hero s journey normally entails three phases; the departure, the
initiation, and the return. (Wikipedia) The first phase is the departure phase, which consists of three
stages; the call to adventure, the refusal of the call, and supernatural aid. The call to adventure, is

The Benefits Of Human Genetic Modification
Should human genetic modification be allowed in today s society? Many experiments with genetic
modification on plants and animals involved trial and error. While there was success in the research,
there also existed the cost of many errors. Scientists soon want to move onto the next step genetic
modification in humans. The human aesthetic could soon be in the hands of men. Recent advances in
technology and research through other life forms have allowed us to consider this vast advancement in
genetic modification. In studies of genetic modification, scientists rarely have 100% efficiency. We
need to approach the concept of genetic modification in humans with caution. The magnitude of the
advancement is immense; therefore, we need to approach this concept at a gradual pace. If we ignore
these precautions, we risk human lives and deformities in the name of science. Exploring the
possibilities of genetic modification is important to the future of science.
Rudolph Jaenisch bred the first genetically modified mouse in 1974. Today, millions of mice are used
in genetic modification experiments. (Genetic Modified Mice) Rudolph showed that foreign DNA
could be integrated into the DNA of early mouse embryos. Despite the success of the transgenic
mouse, their results in mice may not breed the same for humans. The mouse is small, making it an
economical choice, and it also breeds very well. Therefore, mice were disposable. Scientists can use
mice without hesitation because there is

Native American And English Colonists
Formal Paper English colonists first came to America late 1500s with the lost colony of Roanoke.
English settlers then tried again for a permanent settlement in the early 1600s with Jamestown.
Following Jamestown the English were consistently sending new colonists from England to America.
The first English settlers had faced quite the hardships. None of the colonists were prepared or
equipped with the knowledge to survive in their new environment. This is where Native American and
English colonists interactions began. Prior to English settlers, the Native Americans had also had
interactions with the Spanish. At first people believed that English colonists would treat the Natives
better than the Spanish colonists. But as history has shown, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Despite the hospitality of the Powhatans, whatever they did not give the colonists, the colonists just
stole it. The Powhatans stopped offering their lending hand. The atrocities the English committed
against the Powhatans were comparable of those of the Spanish. One instance in 1610, a Powhatan
chief was convicted for being rude. An English officer and his men invaded the Native American

Then he ordered his men to burn homes and crops. When the expedition returned to its boats, his men

Summary Of Ida B. Wells-Barnett s Southern Horrors
Ida B. Wells Barnett s Southern Horrors was published with the intention of bringing awareness to the
injustice of Southern lynching and exposing its true purpose. With the Confederate Army s defeat and
the reunification of the United States at the end of the Civil War, thousands of previously enslaved
African Americans suddenly found themselves freed from their owners. This newfound freedom
however, was not nearly at the same level as whites and other minorities. Especially in the south,
many former slaves were subjected to cruel treatment and a lack of opportunities. The South resented
giving the Afro American his freedom, the ballot box and the Civil Rights Law. Many former slaves

II. During the late Nineteenth Century, The Free Speech was one of the only journals in the country
that spoke directly to African Americans. As an author for this journal, Wells Barnett sought to
enlighten the public with information that was rarely published in other newspapers. In the event that
knowledge of these lynchings were made public, they rarely contained accurate information. This
journal was without a doubt a nuisance to the southern white press, who sought to discredit African
Americans in order to keep them out of political matters. The Free Speech went too far in a
publication written for the May 21st, 1892 paper. The article describes the lynching of eight men since
the previous publication. The deaths and crimes are described and doubt is expressed that most of the
individuals were actually guilty. The spark that led to Wells Barnett s attempted lynching is found at
the end of the article. Nobody in this section of the country believes the old thread bare lie that Negro
men rape white women. If Southern white men are not careful, they will overreach themselves and
public sentiment will have a reaction, a conclusion will then be reached which will be very damaging

Abstract
This paper contains the brief introduction of Set theory which included the definition, origination,
history and modernization of set theory and mathematical field related to it. The main focus of this
paper will be on the application of set theory in different discipline.
Set Theory, Computer Science and axiomatizations of Set Theory
Mathematics is the study of numbers, and counting, and measuring, but that is only the beginning.
Mathematics involves the study of number patterns and relationships. Set theory is an area of
mathematics that deals with inconceivable numbers, and bottomless concepts such as infinity. The
history of set theory is relatively dissimilar from the history of most other parts of mathematics. Set
Theory was founded by Georg Cantor in 1874 in his paper On a Characteristics Property of All Real
Algebraic Numbers . Naive set theory is fun, and as we saw with Cantor s diagonalization, it can
produce some incredibly beautiful results. But as we ve seen before, in the simple world of naive set
theory, it s easy to run into trouble, in the form of Russell s paradox and a variety of related problems.
The sake of completeness, Russell s paradox concerns the set R={s | s ∉ s}. Is R∈R? If R∈R, then by
the definition of R∉R. But by definition, if R∉R,

Flat Earth Research Papers
The earth is round due to the fact that when we look up into space, we can see that the other planets
are round, so we can infer that earth must be round as well. Another reasoning can be how we have
time zones, which means the sun hit different places at different times on earth. The sun also travels
lower when you get away from the equator. At night, the stars change when you go from north to
south. Lastly, during a solar eclipse, the shadow of the earth on the moon is curved.
The idea of a flat earth came from pre state cultures, such as ancient Greece. Homer had described a

A Comparison Of The Five Characters In The Catcher In The Rye
Today I m dining with 5 characters from the novel The Catcher in the Rye, who I consider close

By the end of our Chinese dinner we all received a fortune cookie! The first to open their fortune
cookies was Holden. His fortune said, Don t be unreal, this is only appropriate for Holden because
throughout the book he struggles with accepting reality and learning how to cooperate with it. Ackley
struggles to open his fortune cookie, but he got there. His fortune said, Lying is always your first
choice, but it will become your last resort once you become the lie yourself. This made complete sense
considering Ackley was always lying about his sexual encounters; he kept his message to himself.
Jane opens hers to see a surprise, You know you re respected and loved, embrace it. Jane is one of the
few people Holden enjoys. This gave a hint to Jane, it left her puzzled. Phoebe, Holden s younger
sister opened her fortune cookie with a sly look on her face. She read her fortune aloud, Sunshine. She
got this message because her innocence would be the sunlight to Holden s day. Soon the sexy bastard
(a nickname Holden gave to his roommate Stradlater) at the table got to his fortune cookie. The
fortune cookie said, Gross. Stradlater is embarrassed and decides not to share his fortune with the

IB English Essay: English Group 1
Candidate: 001134 0000
Word Count: 3736 Abstract Two main focuses that encompass life are love and money. Since the
invention of money, it has been a competition to see who can become the wealthiest and therefore the
most successful. But are people really successful if they are unhappy without a person to love in their
lives? This essay will investigate the importance of love and money in the novels The Great Gatsby
and Pride and Prejudice. Therefore, the essay will focus on the research question: What effects do love
and money have on the authors portrayal of the main female characters in the novels The Great
Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen? This essay will begin by
discussing the time periods in which each of the novels, Pride and Prejudice and The Great Gatsby,
take place. This will provide information on the roles of women in each of the designated time periods
that the two novels revolve around. Continuing on in the essay, there will be a comparison on the
differences of how the main female characters of each novel met and fell in love with their husbands.
This displays the priorities for each of the characters: money or love. Lastly the essay will establish
any symbols and themes throughout each novel supporting the overall idea of love and money being
central entities for life. At

Women s Role In The Victorian Era Oppression Of Women
Victorian age female oppression is frequently blotted out from discussion. The maltreatment of
women has played a key role in society since the conception of humankind. The Victorian age,
however, is what particularly peaks my interest. The treatment of women in that era was entirely
centralized around the understanding that women were subordinate to men. With their deeply
embedded concepts of misogyny, we have thus arrived at the current roles women play in society
today. It is because of the role this era still plays in the evaluation of women, that I would choose to
teach of the Victorian Era oppression of women during Reed s Paideia education week. The
fundamental function of a woman in the 19th century was childbirth. Believing firmly in the lifelong
energy levels a human contained, women were not allowed to focus on much except childbirth.
Reproduction was their key purpose of existing. Education was minimal, due to the fact that learning
might decrease their focus on multiplying. With only the slightest of education, these women were
trapped in a cycle of child rearing. Many women went into relationships with no previous knowledge
of sex and were then thrown into situations with predetermined spouses. The terrifying experiences

The Simpsons, Family Guy, Aladdin, And All The Scary Movie...
There are many movies, books, and TV shows that make fun of evil. The Simpsons, Family Guy,
Aladdin, and all the Scary Movie movies. There are numerous ways in which each makes fun of evil.
Scary Movie alone uses numerous ways to mock evil, and turns all these scary, evil things into
something to laugh about. Aladdin has people who are supposed to be evil, and come up with all these
ideas to destroy good, but it always turns around on the evil people and works out for good. The
Simpsons has an episode where Homer sells his soul for a doughnut, and another episode where
Homer kills Death. These TV shows and movies have something in common though, and that is the
way they belittle evil. Most will have good triumph over evil which, models Augustinian theodicy.
Why do many TV shows and movies ridicule evil? It could be any number of reasons. Perhaps people
didn t want to fear it anymore, and thus, belittled it and took away its power over people. Maybe it is
for any other number of reasons. However, no matter the reason, these numerous TV shows and
movies afore mentioned, mock evil.

In reality, Asian Americans are popularly seen as the model minority. However, the question whether
Vietnamese Americans are really the model minority is still a long standing controversy.
Model minority refers to a minority group that reaches higher educational, professional, and
socioeconomic levels without protest against the majority establishment (Model minority definition:

It might be hard for most people to believe that Vietnamese Americans are discriminated in the United
States; however, this fact is regularly reflected especially in working places through Vietnamese
wages or job opportunities and at schools through relationships between Vietnamese Americans and
teachers as well as classmates. Vietnamese men earn 7 9% less than comparable East European men,
with more discrimination among the less educated and Vietnamese immigrants, male and female, are
much less likely to hold managerial and supervisory positions than comparable East European
immigrants (Yamane, 2012). If Vietnamese Americans are really the model minority, they should not
be discriminated and such differences between Vietnamese immigrants and White immigrants should
not exist. At schools, according to findings of a study conducted in 2000 by Santa Clara County,
California Vietnamese Americans account for 11.5% out of the total number of students feeling
teachers discriminate against them; it is estimated that 11.5% is the highest for any refugee or
immigrant group studied, and was more than twice the percentage for Asian Americans overall (at

Why I Want To Major In Nursing
Walsh University offers many different majors for people with many different likes and interests. If
students are undecided and do not know what to major in, I would say nursing is the way to go.
Nursing is a major where many doors open up for students after graduation. This major challenges you
and allows a person to grow. Wondering why students should major in nursing? Here are some reasons
that might help justify why nursing is the way to go. Nurses can choose the setting in which they
work; they have control over their shifts; finding a job in this field will be easy; a nurse gets to pick
what area they want to specialize; they get paid very well; and they get to bond with their patients. In
addition, opportunities to advance your studies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nurses can work a shift that works around their schedule. If they have children at home and want to be
with them when they return home from school, then they can work night shifts. This would also be a
good shift for people who are not morning people. Someone who would rather work when their kids
are at school or even just want to work during the day and have nights off, then they can do that too.
Nursing is a very flexible career because you can easily change your shifts around. The opportunity of
working eight hour shifts or twelve hour shifts is also available to nurses. You can work three days a
week or five, which also allows for flexibility. There are pros and cons to both working three days a
week is nice when you receive four days off then, but the hours can be ..physically and emotionally
demanding.. ( Gray 2015). Working five days a week would also be nice because you have less hours
to work, but then you do not have as many days off. The flexibility a nurse has is a very nice

What Is The Relationship Between The Creator And The...
May Shelley crafted one of the most renowned novels of the Romantic era and gave birth the genre of
science fiction. Shelley s Frankenstein displays many themes, but none is more significant than that of
the relationship between the creator and the created. This relationship is undoubtedly complex. Victor
Frankenstein s sentiments towards his creation vary from pure intrigue as he begins to build the eight
foot tall man to utter disdain towards him as the beast begins to push back against him. Moreover, the
creation receives no nurturing from the one that brought him to life, thus turning his back on his
creator. This dynamic comes in sharp contrast to that of the Puritans during the time of William
Bradford. Victor Frankenstein s creation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is overwhelmed with these emotions and the only way to release the anger is to bring death to the
loved ones of Frankenstein. The monster is deprived of any sort of love from the very beginning of his
life; thus, he will make it his goal to replicate this feeling for Victor. The beast does succeed in
bringing terror into the life of Victor with the murders of William, Justine, Henry, and Elizabeth. This
active desire to harm your creator is something unique about the relationship between the creator and
created in Frankenstein. William Bradford and his fellow Puritan Separatists fled their native country
in the pursuit of religious freedom. They believed that God was imploring them to escape the
persecution in England and they made it their chief goal to follow his will. When discussing the
reasons for why the Puritans departed Holland after about a year s stay Bradford writes, A great hope
and inward zeal they had to laying some good foundation, or at least to make some way thereunto, for
the propagating and advancing the gospel of the Kingdom of Christ in those remote parts of the world;
yea, though they should be but even as stepping stones unto others for performing of so great work
(Bradford 4). This quote exemplifies the emotions of the pilgrims as they embarked on their journey

Robert Wise Essay
The film is named The Sound of music. Robert Wise is the director of the movie and it was released in
1965. It is a classic because it has lasted for many of years and its message will last. It has many
beautiful musical acts that sticks with the viewer. The technical features of the sound of music were
the usage of bright colors. It s opening scene included a lovely green landscape which leads you to the
main character showing that she will be lively. Then when you meet the kids you are greeted with a
dull staircase with and a whistle to show that they are obedient and do not bend the rules. The house is
dull, and the children clothes are also grey showing how out of place Maria is. The film is an
American musical drama. The setting is around 1930 during the World ... Show more content on

It shows how one person could change a situation in a family and find joy in bad situations. Points of
value would be that the dad should not hold their children back. The dad should let the kids sing.
Another point would be you may think you have your life all figured out but then someone may come
along and change it completely. It emphasized the scenery and beautiful mountains as if a painting
would. The musical singings were astonishing and resembled a theater or play. This movie gets
outstanding reviews from multiple sources. Stated by Whitney Williams The magic and charm of
Rodgers Hammerstein Lindsay Crouse 1959 stage hit... one of the top musicals to reach the screen
(variety). It gets many highly rated reviews on IMBD. I would say this movie is Dionysian because it
is about feelings. The songs help delivers up beat moods and happiness. They also try to escape limits
and be free is the main message at the end of the movie which is a quality of Dionysian. I would
highly recommend this movie. All the songs are great, and the viewers would know some of them
before even seeing the movie. They will stick with the viewer and is a beautiful

Defining Kurdish Nationalism In The United States
Defining Kurdish Nationalism There is a grave complexity in defining Kurdish nationalism as it has
developed into modern Middle Eastern countries. Calculating to a population of over 25 million, they
are the largest minority in the world to not have their own state. Their nationalist movement has
remained resilient in three pivot countries: Iran, Iraq, and Turkey. Kurds have been active in the
country of Syria as well, since the 1980 s. Kurdish diaspora has existed in western Europe where long
distance nationalism has been promoted. In the strife for human rights, the Kurds have suffered as any
other people would in the Middle East. They have faced massacre, poison gas, mass deportation, and
linguistic discrimination. The three states that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They endure near daily causalities and recently Ankara has undertaken a bifurcated anti terror program
against the PKK and the IS. Frequent attacks in Turkey by the IS and the PKK has driven Turkey to
kill 260 Kurdish militants as of August 1, 2015. The reasoning for these death tolls within a week long
air raid in northern Iraq is due to nine civilian causalities in Turkey and Iraq. For the peace and
security of our people, the fight against terror organi[z]ations will continue without interruption, as
stated by Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu. The PKK s rebellion for rights and power for Turkey s
Kurdish minority has been ongoing for the past thirty years and has left tens of thousands dead.
Though a ceasefire was issued in 2013, Turkey s Kurdish militants have sought refuge in northern Iraq
where the PKK has been tolerated and continue to dodge such attacks. The PKK has been instructed to
terminate fire in populated areas. Turkey s president Erdogan hopes to shut down this fascist
organization by the end of the year. Turkey s and Iraq s goals are to see the Kurds and their parties
purged from their

  • 2. Analysis Of Harrisburg University Of Science And... Executive Summary Harrisburg University of Science and Technology located at 326 Market Street, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania 17101 is a growing major educational hub which is attracting more students and faculty per every passing year. As a result of which, there is a growing need to accommodate all the vehicles and cars that the students and faculty uses to get to the University. The current location of the university is right in the middle of Downtown Harrisburg and therefore the constraints on the parking situation are pretty stringent. Harrisburg University, apart from regular day to day classes, also holds executive classes for online students thereby keeping the number of attendees to the school equally high even on the select weekends. As of January 11, 2016, the University had 400 undergraduate, 2600 graduate students and 150 full and part time faculty and staff. [1] The University only has one (1) 16 story academic building and the Harrisburg Parking Authority operates a garage within the same building. This garage, opened in 2005, is a 9 floor parking sandwiched in the 16 story are hidden from the view so that the building has more of a presence in the Downtown area [2]. Apart from this allotted parking, Street Parking may be available and is free on the Weekends and after 5:00 PM on Weekdays. This proposal is initiated as a result of the growing need for a more comprehensive approach to plan the campus parking , both as it relates to current campus activity and ... One of the challenges with tile, however, is keeping it clean. Everyday living can be hard on tile. Dirt and grime can smudge the surface and settle into the grout lines. Professional cleaning is the best way to maintain the tile and grout to glistening perfection. Here are 10 benefits you will get when you have your tile and grout professionally cleaned. 1. Gives you brand new looking tile Older tile has a charm that newer tile just does not have. The problem with older tile, though, is that it can look tired and worn just because it is dirty from years of use. A professional cleaning can change that. Professional ... When tile and grout is looking dirty and old, it will bring down the look of your entire home. You can have freshly painted walls, brand new furniture, and even a brand new kitchen. But, if your tile looks dirty and unkempt, it won t matter. Having a professional clean all the tile and grout in your home will give it a fresh appearance. That will make the rest of your home look like the shiny showcase you envisioned. 4. But I can t accept it because they lied about it. I can t heal properly because of it. It was all for the cameras. I don t want no apology from the police. It s too late (LeDuff, 122). In Charlie LeDuff s story Who Killed Aiyana he discusses the tragic loss of a little girl, all that lead up to her death and the tragic evet that occurred. The First 48 television show was filming an episode about a shooting that had occurred nearby involving the father of Aiyana and a teenager named Je Rean Blake (who had been shot and killed). The cameras were outside the little girls home and SWAT team that was trying to get into the home ended up throwing in a grenade through the window and landing nearby Aiyana. Then the lead commander, Officer Joseph Weekley shot his gun and Aiyana was killed. The SPJ code of ethics were clearly broken many times throughout the reporting of this story on The First 48. • 6. Characteristics Of Secret Societies In The 18th Century In the eighteenth century, Europe had the largest number of Secret Societies. There were three trends that Secret Societies got something good out of: The Enlightenment (a philosophical movement (Locke, Montesquieu and Voltaire) advocating human reasoning over obedience while strengthening the reasons for Scientific thinking), Enlightened Despotism (where society of every rank and status felt their values were threatened by the state. Freemasonry therefore seemed very appealing as it taught ways of conveying ancient wisdom and virtue), and The growth against the reasoning of Rationalism and Enlightenment as well as the fascination for nature s secrets which brings about a mystical, magical and even occult exaltation. As secret societies is the topic at hand, i d like to start by speaking about secret societies before continuing with the classification of secret societies for the purpose of developing the discussion. Secrecy is defined as an exclusion of reciprocal knowledge by members of associations and the concealment is premeditated. As having full knowledge of any information is trusting, the complete absence means distrust. It is very natural for us to understand that what is forbidden is permitted and for what is not permitted is forbidden. They researched on how to put together a project in order to identify the learning styles. The starting point of this scheme was supported by the Kolb learning style inventory (LSI). Finally, they came up with the idea of a questionnaire. They gathered eighty questions together, containing four different learning styles along with characteristics of the person/s that might fit in. The image below represents the theory along with the learning styles produced. (workpress.com, 2011) Many people will argue that the theory discussed is `not a psychometric instrument, but a checklist about how people learn`; furthermore, it could expose the `danger of labelling people as theorists or pragmatists, when most people exhibit more than one strong preferences (F.Coffield, 2004, p. 28). Perhaps that every individual from this Planet is different and unique, this is a fact. The same like being different means that we have diverse ways of perception towards new concepts and ideas (learning in general). However, we all have similar ways of approaching and understanding, therefore learning. The two theorists did not necessarily intended to say that certain people have certain learning styles; conceivably, they just wanted to help people recognize themselves and other people around them in order to learn and work more efficiently. • 11. Summary Of Prokofiev s Harmonic And Key Relations Prokofiev s Harmonic Idiosyncrasies and Key Relations in the Classical Symphony Prokofiev s Classical Symphony is, oddly enough, one of his few pieces to garner much theoretical and musicological interest. However, much of it seems to be misguided at best and more likely missing the point altogether. This is not to say that everyone is wrong, to the contrary, most folks are not, the problem is that the theorist and musicologist cannot seem to get on the same page. The enduring question is not, as most would see it, whether or not the Classical Symphony is in fact classical (or for that matter, if it is a symphony at all some have stated that it is more of a divertimento) but rather why it is so infectiously hip and so absolutely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Richard Bass, however, does seem to understand Prokofiev s language, even though he does not write about the first movement of the Classical Symphony. He describes Prokofiev s language as chromatic displacement. I describe it the way a jazz musician might, which is sidestepping, but it is really the same thing. Malcom Brown rails against Prokofiev for his shoe horned return to the tonic in the second half of the primary theme, yet that is what makes the whole phrase work. That is what made it Prokofiev s and no one elses. This detour, by half step or whole step is the underlying modus operandi for much of Prokofiev s melodic ideas. We hear it in Peter and the Wolf, in the 5th symphony Scherzo, in Mercutio, from Romeo and Juliet, and we hear it in the first twenty seconds of the Classical Symphony. So with that in mind, I will be analysing Prokofiev s Classical Symphony through the lense of harmonic variance, and occasionally rhythmic variance, since harmonic weight and hypermeter are so often entwined. I will discuss, along with the basic formal structure of each movement, Prokofiev s unique harmonic language as sussed out in the classical style. The opening bars of the first movement is a Mannheim Rocket, straight out of the classical world of Haydn. This leads immediately into the first theme, in the key of D major. • 12. Panda Research Paper The ancestors of Ailuropoda melanoleuca, which are also known as giant pandas, evolved about 40 million years ago. The pandas are native to Sichuan, Shaanxi, and Gansu areas in China with their largest population in the Minshan, Qinling, and Qionglai mountain ranges. However, their smallest populations are in the mountain ranges of Lianshan, Daxiangling, and Xiaoxiangling. In 1974 1977, the estimated population was 2, 459 and had then experienced a major decrease, but is now increasing and is currently at 1, 864. It was fun for me. I have had many fun experiences doing this, and this story I wish to tell you is one of the most interesting, because I have the most fun exploring the unknown. During the summer, I went to a nearby park called Prophetstown. It s a park with a recreated farm from the times of William Henry Harrison and Tecumseh. During my exploring, I came across a fence behind a forest. I managed to squeeze through it, and found a very large hole, around 100 wide, 30 feet deep, and at least a quarter mile in length. I slid down . After that I threw rocks at the 30 foot cliff, which made some of the rocks in it fall down. I did this until there was a noticeable pile of pebbles surrounding me. I decided to go explore further into the pit, where I found more piles of gravel, as well as bulldozers and shovels. Eventually I found an opening that led to a swamp. The mud near the water made your feet sink into it, and the rest of the land was covered in hard bamboo like plants, making me forced to step through the wet and slimy mud. After some time, A dock came into view, and I stepped on, my once new shoes covered in mud. The dock had a canoe attached to it, full of emergency supplies such as a flare gun, food, and water. Would these radical ideas offered by Poppi create a wake up call for the airline industry, and particularly legacy carriers? Professor Taneja explains that most airlines acknowledge the importance of disruptive innovation, however, their degree of reaction varies greatly from one carrier to another (Accenture, 2017). He also notes the industry is divided in their reaction to disruption with some continuing business as usual and others completely overhauling how they do business altogether. Strategies for transformation in dealing with each carrier s workforce, processes, and legacy systems requires the right mindset and leveraging emerging technologies. Poppi attempts to addresses these issues while focusing on what bothers air travelers most and changing the mindsets of major carriers to envision the future of air travel. IFRS Adoption Affects Taxes The mergence or adoption of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in the United States will affect the taxes a company will pay due to the differences in IFRS and U. S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). One major hurdle to this happening is to get the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) to agree on exactly how this will happen. For most U.S. companies, a major concern is how this adoption of IFRS will ultimately affect the way they do business, how it changes reporting, and how it will affect the company financially. A real concern is changing from a rules based standard (GAAP) into a principles based standard (IFRS) used throughout the rest of the world. From a tax perspective, the focus of this research is to show how some of the required changes in Last In First Out (LIFO), inventory evaluation (LCM), and revenue recognition be changed using IFRS. Last in first out The use of LIFO as an inventory management system is recognized as one of three management systems and has been accepted by GAAP. However, IFRS does not recognized LIFO as an acceptable management system. • 22. Psychodynamic Theories Of Psychology On The Subconscious Self Psychodynamic theories of psychology focuses on the subconscious self, influencing behaviors of an individual and are used to explain the development of mental illness and abnormalities. The basis of psychodynamics is Sigmund Freud s theory in which he describes three states of mind vying for their preferred goal: the Id concerned with obtaining pleasure, the Superego concerned with upholding morality, and the Ego which uses reason to balance the desires of the two extremes. Freud describes three levels of consciousness the conscious which is what ideas we always know about, the preconscious which is ideas that we can make conscious, and the unconscious which is the ideas that are underneath our understanding which may include suppressed memories of traumatic events. He sees human motivation coming from a vague notion of instincts which include the life instinct which drives people to stimulate themselves/survive and the death instinct which drives people to be calm, serene, slipping into death. Freud gives great importance to human sexuality in his theories by linking such dilemmas during the childhood stages of development of the sex instinct to mental problems in adulthood in the form of subconscious ideas about the past influencing current actions. He sees defense mechanisms in people s actions as an attempt to protect the person s view of self or to protect from revealing something they don t want known, certain cues like forgetting what to say reveal that there is ... The hypothesis was: if an ice cube made of water is allowed to melt at room temperature; then it will melt slower than other ice cubes made from other types of liquids. The liquid the ice cubes were made of is the independent variable. The control variable for the experiment was the ice cube made of plain water. The experimental group are the ice cubes made from other liquids. The time it took takes the ice cubes to melt is the dependent variable. Having his uncle assassinated because of his involvement with MI6, a secret intelligence agency for the British Government, Alex was told (by the agency) that Ian had died in a car accident. However, this was revealed to him as a lie when Alex ventured into a junkyard and found Ian s car. The sight of the car was devastating to the eyes of such a young boy. Everything came to him right away; the windows were all shattered, the side panel had a huge dent, and the tires didn t even look like tires anymore. The theme of secrecy and covering up your dirty tracks in this novel is shown as a negative theme because of the psychological effects it can have on certain people once they find out about it. He developed hatred for any changes the new Prime Minister brought in, until he couldn t stand the country anymore. He wanted England to start anew, without a Prime Minister he despised and without the many citizens looking up to him. The quote I chose is one of Sayle s lines, telling us that what he has accomplished means nothing because the person who called him names a long time ago is more successful. This shows the childish side of a multimillionaire criminal mastermind. The themes I took from this quote and its corresponding picture include jealousy, egoistic/arrogant mentalities, and the self absorption that leads to a childish mentality of even adults. Many experiments with genetic modification on plants and animals involved trial and error. While there was success in the research, there also existed the cost of many errors. Scientists soon want to move onto the next step genetic modification in humans. The human aesthetic could soon be in the hands of men. Recent advances in technology and research through other life forms have allowed us to consider this vast advancement in genetic modification. In studies of genetic modification, scientists rarely have 100% efficiency. We need to approach the concept of genetic modification in humans with caution. The magnitude of the advancement is immense; therefore, we need to approach this concept at a gradual pace. If we ignore these precautions, we risk human lives and deformities in the name of science. Exploring the possibilities of genetic modification is important to the future of science. Rudolph Jaenisch bred the first genetically modified mouse in 1974. Today, millions of mice are used in genetic modification experiments. (Genetic Modified Mice) Rudolph showed that foreign DNA could be integrated into the DNA of early mouse embryos. The main focus of this paper will be on the application of set theory in different discipline. Set Theory, Computer Science and axiomatizations of Set Theory Mathematics is the study of numbers, and counting, and measuring, but that is only the beginning. Mathematics involves the study of number patterns and relationships. Set theory is an area of mathematics that deals with inconceivable numbers, and bottomless concepts such as infinity. The history of set theory is relatively dissimilar from the history of most other parts of mathematics. Set Theory was founded by Georg Cantor in 1874 in his paper On a Characteristics Property of All Real Algebraic Numbers . Naive set theory is fun, and as we saw with Cantor s diagonalization, it can produce some incredibly beautiful results. But as we ve seen before, in the simple world of naive set theory, it s easy to run into trouble, in the form of Russell s paradox and a variety of related problems. The sake of completeness, Russell s paradox concerns the set R={s | s ∉ s}. Is R∈R? If R∈R, then by the definition of R∉R. But by definition, if R∉R, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The maltreatment of women has played a key role in society since the conception of humankind. The Victorian age, however, is what particularly peaks my interest. The treatment of women in that era was entirely centralized around the understanding that women were subordinate to men. With their deeply embedded concepts of misogyny, we have thus arrived at the current roles women play in society today. It is because of the role this era still plays in the evaluation of women, that I would choose to teach of the Victorian Era oppression of women during Reed s Paideia education week. The fundamental function of a woman in the 19th century was childbirth. Believing firmly in the lifelong energy levels a human contained, women were not allowed to focus on much except childbirth. Reproduction was their key purpose of existing. Education was minimal, due to the fact that learning might decrease their focus on multiplying.
