Swot Analysis For Tim Hortons
The business I have chosen to analyze is Tim Hortons. Tim Hortons Inc. is a multinational quick
service restaurant based in Canada and it is also the largest one in this country. Tim Hortons is known
for its coffee and donuts which were the only two products offered in the first Tim Hortons store. The
menu contains coffee, tea, specialty beverage and baked goods. And in additional, it also provides
breakfast sandwich and lunch selection. Canadian people really like coffee and it is the Canada s most
consumed beverage amongst adults even more than tap water. Tim Hortons as a Canadian coffee shop
is successful in the coffee industry, but not only Tim Hortons discovered the business opportunity in
Canadian coffee industry, but also Starbucks Corporation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is helpful for Tim Hortons that people are willing to pay more for food consumption.
Social: Tim Hortons Inc. holds lots of community activities which provide fun and service to people.
Such as children foundation which designed to support children in coming more responsible and
motivated individuals. The community initiatives can help Tim Hortons to foster a healthy and
positive business image, which also can active the business. The customer could become loyalty to the
reliable business.
Technological: Tim Hortons developed new mobile payment options aimed at improving the speed of
service and providing the customer better experience. Customers are able to register a Tim Card on the
mobile app and use tap to pay technology to complete their order. Unfortunately, it is only available on
BlackBerry smartphone right now. But however, as the development of technology, the business will
be able to support different smartphone one day. The development of technology satisfy people s
desired and it can attract more consumers for the business. Nowadays, people prefer to replace cash
and cards with the smartphone which is smarter and more

The And Of A Bernoulli Random
Abstract
Abstract here
Humans, and animals, often perceive events as being random. Many lab oratory and controlled studies
have been conducted over the last half century to determine human ability to detect whether a
particular string of events is random. Often, these studies consist of detecting whether some binary
sequence has the properties of a bernoulli random variable. From the re sults of these studies, we can
conclude experimental subjects hold the Law of
Small Numbers (Tversky Kahneman, 1971) to be true. Particularly, many studies have found humans
have a skewed perception of and researchers do not understand randomness. In this paper, we seek to
answer three focused questions: 1. Can randomness be defined, and if so, how can humans determine
whether a sequence is random?
2. What have previous studies concluded with regard to decision makers skill in determining whether
a sequence is random?
3. Are we able to develop a rigorous, mathematical argument regarding randomness? Before we begin
to answer these questions, we will present definitions from the literature to facilitate the discussion.
1
1 Definitions
Two ubiquitous concept used in studies of randomness are the gambler s fal lacy and the hot hand.
Using the definitions from Oskarsson, van Boven,
McClelland, and Hastie (2009), we will define the gambler s fallacy as the judgement the streak will
end. The gambler s fallacy is also known as neg ative recency. The hot hand is the judgement that a

The Auteur Theory By Francois Truffaut
The auteur theory first began in the 1950s by a group of young French scholars who wrote for the
journal Cahiers du Cinema. Most significant of these scholars was Francois Truffaut who wrote an
article that served as the touchstone for auteurism. The auteur principle is used as a descriptive method
that focuses not on whether a director is a great director but rather on the fundamental composition of
a director s work. This principle therefore focuses on a director s thematic and stylistic uniformity,
established filming method, personal artistic vision, recurring themes and most significantly his
control over a film s production. Auteur films are distinctive due to the unique artistic vision of its
director and the fact that it imbues his personality. The auteur term is consequently used to distinguish
directors whose works are distinguishable from others. It is important to note that not all directors can
be auteurs. Only certain directors were able to express their personality through their works with the
use of themes and style and would therefore to continuously produce the same types of stories.
Looking at all of a director s work was the only way to identify their individuality and to be able to
place their mark on a film suggested the strength of the director as an artist. The style and overall form
is the primary concern of an auteur film, not the content. The best directors were able to do this so
skillfully that their talents allowed them to artistically reshape

Security And Confidentiality Of The Information
Security and Confidentiality of the information
Introduction
In this task, I have been asked summarise the Data Protection Act (1998) and Computer Misuse Act
(1990). Also I will have to explain the ethical issues surrounding the code of practice (when using
email and internet) and information ownership and talk about the importance of backing up
information and impact of increasing the sophistication of systems. [P3]
Legal Issues The Data Protection Act 1998 is the act to control how your personal information is used
by organisations, businesses or the government. All businesses, organisations and even the
government must abide by this Act so that personal information must be used lawfully and fairly this
means that everyone who has access to your personal information must use it for limited, specifically
stated purposes and must inform the corresponding person of how his/her personal information is
going to be used.
Below are some of the strict rules organisations/businesses must follow when in possession of your
personal information:
Used in a way that is adequate, relevant and not excessive.
Accurate.
Kept for no longer than is absolutely necessary.
Handled according to people s data protection rights.
Kept safe and secure.

The Problem Of The Cancer War
It is said that three in five Americans will develop the horrible disease called cancer. Any living thing
on this planet has the possibility of developing this uncontrollable disease. This includes scientists,
medical doctors, regulators, owners of drug companies, along with their loved ones, meaning that they
aren t immune to cancer ( Big ). Many people in our society claim that the medical industry, along
with the government, is keeping the cure to cancers suppressed. In figure 2 we see a perfect example
of how society sees the scientists and doctors involved. This conspiracy has been around for quite
some time and it s mostly because some believe that the cancer war is just one big fraud (Michael
Higgins). Such a conspiracy, is very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They can get cancer as easily as any nonmedical person would. As a result, there is no way these
doctors would keep quiet if the cure to cancer was out there due to the fact they aren t heartless robots
who would let a loved one die knowing that they could get their hands on the one thing that could save
them. There are many oncologists who are in the business to honestly help and make a difference in
the world. Michael Higgins, a cancer patient, states in an interview I have been fortunate because
almost all of them have been remarkably compassionate and caring people. At least one of them was
motivated to pursue cancer research by the loss of a close relative. This makes it evident that there are
doctors who have dedicated their career to working hard, conducting research, and trying to find the
end to this horrible disease. If the cure was really out there, then there wouldn t be so much effort
given by doctors. Instead the industry would be more laid back and nonchalant but, that isn t the case.
Just like there s evil in this world, there is also good (Michael Higgins).
While it seems to be that the conspiracy cannot be true, it is very evident why some had hope that the
conspiracy was true. The main reason some believe this conspiracy is true is because cancer is a multi
billion dollar industry. Many are wrapped up in this idea that the medical industry, along with the
government, is only out to get money. There are many who

Mountainview Country Club Essay
The Mountainview Country Club is going through serious issues of undisciplined board members who
either care about the clubs agenda or lack thereof, others are too busy to notice any of the issues and
those who micromanage. Chris has been hired to be the next general manager and will have to find a
way to deal with the board before they create more damage to the club. Since the club has lost a total
of 3 general managers in the course of 10 years, Chris has assessed the situation that the club has been
facing and it is a total mess. When Chris asked President Fisher about the simple agenda and if the
new board members where given a proper orientation, it seemed that the President did not like to be
questioned and became a little defensive on the way he ran the board meeting. As the President of the
club it does not look like he is not interested in change even if it is blatantly clear that things are not
working well, I would guess this could be an issue that the other General Managers faced. With Chris

Labyrinth Of Suffering Analysis
How do we get out of this labyrinth of suffering? It s a simple question to ask, but the answer is one
not quite so easy to search out and uncover. You d be more likely to discover a bag of dusty, old
dinosaur bones in your backyard before you could uncover the answer to that question. In order to
answer the question at hand, you must first understand three things. One; a labyrinth is a maze leading
you through Hell and back, filled with false paths, twists, and turns don t get lost. Two; as long you let
even a single thought prance throughout your head for too long whether it be good or bad your mind
will be completely and utterly chaotic. And three; to find your way out of the labyrinth, you must first
learn to forgive. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ...

Carbon Tax Research Paper
Global warming is real. The truth is if we do not act act boldly and quickly the problem will get
worsen in the coming years to come. It is the major threat to the planet earth and to minimize this
threat, it will require a major reduction in the burning of the coal and fossil fuels. The fossil fuel
industry that releases Green house gases like carbon dioxide in major percentage, methane, nitrous
oxide, has played major role in this threat increment and its contents is increasing daily in the
atmosphere. As Earth s climate warms, rapid loss of glacial ice is being documented around the world.
The rising of the sea levels throughout the world is also observed. These multi billion dollar industry
is slowly destroying the planet earth, and getting rich while doing it. That must end and I believe
therefore a carbon tax is must in order to dramatically reduce the carbon pollution.
In 2008 Eminent climatologist James Hansen urged U.S. President Barack Obama to support a carbon
tax. Hansen was the first climate scientist to state publicly that greenhouse gas emissions were causing
climate change, at a hearing before the U.S. Senate 20 years ago. All reputable scientists agree that

The Importance Of Professional Behavior In Nursing
Professional behavior is defined as the way a person acts towards others in a professional setting. As a
nurse this could be mean the way you respond or act towards patients, supervisors, and co workers.
The way nurse s respond is important because it can affect the patient and others around them. Nurse s
are held to a higher standard when it comes to being trustworthy and professional. They are expected
to hold values of Beneficence, nonmaleficence, and autonomy. Black mentioned the definition of
beneficence is determining what is good or best for the patient. Autonomy is when the individual has
the right to make their own decisions in health care. Black (2014) defined nonmaleficence as the duty
to not put the patient in harm. To behave in a professional way can allow the nurse to create a
therapeutic relationship with the patient. Allowing the patient to trust that the nurse s response is in the
best interest and respect of the patient (NCSBN). By having the best interest in the patient s outcome,
the nurse would abstain from attaining personal gain at the patient s expense. The space between the
patient s vulnerability and the nurse s power is where professional boundaries are met (NCSBN). A
hypothetical situation that could easily break professional boundaries without intent would be
favoritism towards a patient. In health care facilities nurses will treat patients for long term care and
become very close with their patients. Nurse s will find themselves favoring

Origins Of The Periodic Table
As we know, today there are one hundred and eighteen elements on the periodic table of elements, but
it didn t start out like this. Robert Boyle, a scientist, discovered the element phosphorus in 1680. Also,
in this year the element became known to the public. By the year of 1809, the number of elements
discovered at the time was up to 47. Also, scientists began to see a pattern in the characteristics of the
elements. Later in 1863, The 56 elements discovered at the time were then divided into 11 groups
based on their characteristics by an english chemist named John Newlands. In the year 1869 a Russian
chemist by the name of Dimitri Mendeleev started the making of the periodic table. He started by
rearranging the elements in order of atomic mass. He also expected the discovery of other elements, so
he decided to leave empty spaces in his table so he could add new elements later. In 1894, the noble
gases were discovered by Sir William Ramsay and Lord Rayleigh. The noble gases were added to the
periodic table in a group labeled 0. Eventually in 1945, Glenn Seaborg discovered and identified
lanthanides and actinides. The Lanthanides were the elements with atomic numbers greater than 57
and lower than 71. The Actinides were elements greater than 92. These elements today are located
underneath the periodic table (refer to figure 1). The last major change to the periodic table occurred
in the 20th century due to the work of Glenn Seaborg. starting with his

Tragic Hero In Macbeth Essay
For a writer to take a good, noble man and destroy him is no easy task. To do
this while maintaining the reader s sympathy for the character is even harder. In
Macbeth, this is exactly the task writer William Shakespeare chose to do. Macbeth is
a play depicting the downfall of an honorable man named Macbeth. Shakespeare
creates a tragic hero in Macbeth, even though the task is hard. Although Macbeth s
downfall is gradual, the majority of the decisions he has to make to go down his path
occur towards the beginning of the play.
The play begins with a conversation about Macbeth fighting to save his
country, in which he courageously defeats his enemies. Macbeth s character first

Once Macbeth is told by the witches of his ability to become kind, Macbeth

Macbeth would ignore the prophecy, Duncan s sons would eventually inherit the

early on in the play, just by one choice Macbeth makes, the reader is already exposed
to the downfall of Macbeth.
Macbeth then discusses the idea of murdering Duncan with his wife, Lady

killing Duncan, even though he knows it is wrong. I am settled ... on this terrible

The Infamous Reputation of Drones
For many people, just the word drone sends a chill down their spine. The infamous reputation of these
unmanned flying objects comes from their heavy use in war zones where they are meant to track and
kill. The purpose of these drones is to complete a mission without risking the lives of soldiers.
Contrary to popular belief, most drones are used for purposes other than warfare. The public rarely
hears about the positive side of drones and thus their opinion on drones is simply biased because they
do not realize that there is another, much larger side to drones that is peaceful. Most drones are used
for surveillance along borders or simply for fun. The use of drones for recreation seems to slowly be
catching on and will offer amazing possibilities. Even though many people do not recognize the
positive side of drones, they have the power to revolutionize the way we see and understand the world,
protect the lives of the soldiers and allow for amazing private experiences through their wide range of
uses. Drones have long proven their superiority in warfare. They are capable to follow their target
without being noticed and can strike whenever needed without have a solder on the ground. It is not
even necessary for the drone pilot to be in the same country as the drone. A drone can fly in
Afghanistan but the pilot is safe in his own home country. The drone technology therefore saves the
lives of many soldiers who would otherwise be in harms way. Drones can prevent ambushes,

Tarantino writes, directs and sometimes even acts in his own films and specialises in action as well as

blood, gore and violence. He intends to use the same characters in more than one film, for example he
uses Uma Thurman as his leading lady in more than one movie and another example would be Samuel

from Tarantino would be the colour, font and pictures within his film posters. Most of his action film

The film lastly would be the props that he uses, usually a weapon and normally a gun or sword.
Tarantino always uses the same fundamental themes and techniques in order to print his signature on

Comparing Christmas And Hanukkah
Despite being the product of separate, largely dissimilar religions, Christmas and Hanukkah fulfill a
similar goal. Although the specific food traditions throughout Christianity and Judaism differ greatly,
the role of food in these holidays is largely the same. Food is imbued with a sense of remembrance
and reverence, creating a level of similarity between two very distinct traditions.
Hanukkah, or the Festival of Lights, is a central holiday in modern Judaism. Although it is not a
Biblical holiday, it marks a significant cultural event in Jewish history, commemorating the
Maccabean revolt and subsequent rededication of the temple by Judah Maccabee. Central to the
holiday is the miracle of oil, whereby a single container of holy oil, one day s ... Show more content

Turkey is common, although other large birds are often substituted. In predominantly Catholic parts of
Europe, the traditional Christmas dinner is The Vigil, a feast comprised of seven varieties of fish either
baked or fried in oil. This stems from the Catholic tradition of avoiding meat on some holidays, and
incorporates a lesson on Catholic numerology into the meal. While there has been some effort to
incorporate Christian lessons and stories into Christmas foods, such as candy canes, the spiritual
aspect of Christmas food is still fairly nebulous in its presentation. Because it draws from such diverse
cultural backgrounds, as opposed to the less varied cultural heritage of Judaism, food is not as highly
valued as a teaching tool. That is not to say there is no religious motivation behind Christmas food, or
that there are no parallels to traditional Hanukkah foods, but these parallels and motivations are
superficial at best. Instead, one must look at the overarching themes behind Christmas and Hanukkah
food traditions in order to find a connection. While there are few similarities between the Christian
and Jewish traditions, they both mark a significant event in their religion, and they both commemorate
it with food. Food as a tool of reverence, then, is a common thread between

Essay on 2 Years before the Mast
History 140
Midterm
Richard Henry Dana came from a prominent Brahmin family. He attended Harvard college but was
forced to drop out his junior year due to a measles attack which temporarily affected his eyesight.
Dana wanted to tour Europe but was unable to afford it. Instead, he decided to sign on as a seaman at
nineteen years old, and sailed around Cape Horn to California. When trying to recall his motives for
becoming a seaman he wasn t sure if it was his desire to cure my eyes, my love of adventure and the
attraction of the novelty of a life before the mast, or anxiety to escape from the depressing situation of
inactivity and dependence at home (vi).

At this bay they felt as though they were in a Christian country because they saw the Mexican flag
flying from a presidio, and they heard the drums and trumpets of the soldiers. Dana also mentions that
there is little or no surf here. Here he learned that the Mexican revenue laws are very strict and
required the whole cargo to be landed, examined, and taken on board again. All the officers here wore
the same costume, . ..broad brimmed hat...a short jacket of silk or figured calico...the shirt open in the
neck...pantaloons wide, straight, and long, usually of velvet, velveteen, or broadcloth. (83).
Californians do not wear suspenders, wear deer skin shoes, a sash around the waist, and a cloak. The
cloak is a mark of the rank of wealth of the owner. Aristocracy wear cloaks of black or dark blue with
lots of velvet, Indians wear a sort of blanket, middle class wear a large tablecloth. There is no working
class among the Spaniards. The rich look like grandees, and the poor look broken down. Dana sees the
Californians as . ..thriftless people, and can make nothing for themselves (86). Dana talks about how
they have an abundance of grapes, but buy bad wine from Boston for high prices. They give their
expensive hides in exchange for things valued way below the value of their hides. Dana and his
shipmates got a good sense of how the Californians dressed, talked,

Addicted To Love Essay
Addicted to Love
In Gottfried Von Strassburg s retelling of the ancient romance, Tristan, love s portrayal as a
psychological disease is considerable. For Rivalin and Blancheflor, Tristan and Isolde, and also King
Mark, the affliction causes them to act in a way that they would normally shun. Love changes the
perspective on life of those who become intoxicated by its power; whether it s shared as a couple or
entirely unreciprocated, the lust to attain and secure its presence is consuming.
Love s torment of Tristan and Isolde is a sweet torment that noble lovers endure. Grieves are shared,
blessings are doubled, and embraces are electrifying on both the physical and emotional levels. One
sided love is a hell like no other. Here, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For both Rivalin and Blancheflor the danger involved in consummating their love is twofold. Bearing
a bastard child would result not only in the cataclysmic loss of societal position, but quite possibly her
death. Rivalin, less prudent then his future son, risks the wrath of an angry Mark by out right eloping
with his true love. Under the influence of love s tyrannical reign, both disregard their reservations and
good sense; blinded by passion they escape to Parmenie to be legally wed. Like a wounded cowboy in
a classic western film who downs whiskey to avoid the pain of a gunshot wound or snake bite, love
appears to ease the pain of Rivalin s wounds after a battle. Although on what is almost his death, the
passion for Blancheflor numbs his hurt and allows Tristan to be conceived.
As perfect lovers, Tristan and Isolde s addiction to Cupid s opiate is surpassed by none. This is proven
by the trials Brangane endures, the disregard for Isolde s personal acts of treason, and also the blows
to Tristan s honor and loyalty to his uncle. Once Isolde has the epiphany that the killer of her Uncle
Morold is bathing in the next room, she is enraged. However, she is unable to extract revenge on
Tristan. Gottfried suggests this is due to a feminine instinct; simply, that Isolde was too refined to
commit such an uncouth act. This delicate characterization of Isolde would not last long. Upon the
accidental ingestion of the love potion,

Abraham Maslow s Theory Of Psychology
Abstract
A psychologist by the name of Abraham Harold Maslow only accepted the ultimate best for himself in
life. Born to Samuel and Rose Schilofsky, Maslow was one of their seven children. His parents were
not well educated. Driven for success, they pushed Maslow very hard, but often underestimated him
and categorized him as being ill. He felt often neglected as a child. Maslow read to stimulate his mind.
Because he knew that his parents would appreciate it, he studied law at the City College of New York.
Maslow realized that law was not for him so he went to Cornell University. His first cousin, Bertha,
and he got married and they had two children. Maslow s love for psychology was sparked at the
university. He obtained a host of degrees. He returned to New York where he started studying and
researching about human sexuality. He taught full time at Brooklyn College. He was the chair of
psychology at Brandeis until his health started to fail. On June 8, 1970, Abraham Maslow died in
California. The Life and Career of Abraham Maslow
Background on Maslow
Men and women were selling themselves short of the human race was the story (Maslow, 1908 1970).
Abraham Maslow was the originator of Humanistic Psychology. Abraham Maslow was a man of great
character. His life, theories, and career still exist today and people continue to reflect on such an

Bottled Water Consumption
In 2010, bottled water consumption within the U.S. was around 28 gallons per person. As a beverage
category, bottled water represented $10.6 billion in annual sales. This category has grown at an
impressive rate. In fact the value of the U.S. bottled water market doubled in less than a decade.
The success of this product represents a success for marketing. In this discussion thread we will
examine some of the reasons for its success.
Issues to Discuss:
1. Describe the target market for this bottled water. How does bottled water create value for target
market consumers?
Target market refers to a group or customer segment that a firm is interested in selling its product or
services. This is a two way relationship as the potential must ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The shape of the bottle is shaped as a glacier that resembles an ice formation that is different on each
face of the bottle, which is supposed to symbolize the ever changing nature of a glacier. When it
comes to product and distribution Icelandic is carbon neutral which is important because mineral
water receives a lot of criticism for leaving a carbon footprint. Icelandic has secured large deals with
companies like Anheuser Bush that help with distribution. They price their water at the upper end of
the range of mineral water which positions their product as premium water. Icelandic promotes their
product at large events such as the Cannes Film Festival and by targeting at such events it creates an
awareness for their brand.
3. Bottled water has come under attack from environmental groups for the amount of waste created by
the bottles. How do you feel this concern about packaging waste will impact sales? How could the
marketing mix elements be used to address this concern?
Sales have seen a negative impact and studies have shown that between 2007 and 2010 Nestle water
the largest water bottler worldwide saw a 12.7 percent decline in sales. According to the
foodandwaterwatcg.org website, bottled water comes with unnecessary costs to the customer as well

Linear Function And Slope
Linear functions are represented in slope intercept form, y=mx+b and are plotted on a coordinate
plane as a straight line. m represents the slope, or the measure of the steepness, of a line; b represents
the y intercept, the place where the line crosses the y axis and the value of x equals 0. Slope is
calculated by dividing the change in y by the change in x between two points, or (y_2 y_1)/(x_2 x_1 ).
Slope is commonly referred to as the average rate of change or rise/run , the change in y values (rise)
over the change in x values (run). x values of the table move the point horizontally along the x axis; y
values of the table move the point vertically along the y axis. When points of a linear function are
displayed in a table, the top number of the slope is the average rate of change in ... Show more content

As the slope becomes greater, the line will have a greater steepness when graphed. Lower slopes result
in a line closer to being horizontal. Positive slopes display a line that increases its y values as x values
increase while negative slopes display a line that decreases its y values as x values increase. Linear
functions are used to display situations with a constant rate of change. This can include miles driven
per hour or the cost of a service for an amount of time. Quadratic functions are represented by the
equation f(x)=ax^2+bx+c and are graphed in a U shape known as a parabola. A quadratic is a function
in which x^2 is the greatest power. This curve occurs when two lines are multiplied together. If the
value of a is greater than 0, the parabola is positive and opens upwards. If a is less than 0, the graph is
negative and opens downward. In order to find the vertex, the maximum or minimum value of a
quadratic, begin by finding the x coordinate, the axis of symmetry, using variables from the given
equation in ( b)/2a. Insert the x value into the function and solve to find the y coordinate of the

Romantic Expressivism And Humanism
Summative Assessment Romantic Expressivism states the feeling or the self realization of what is
upheld in original values. The way we describe the world around us is not going to be the same as
other people s thoughts. Giving an ethical standard of what the world around us is, becomes a way to
use expressivism to explain certain occurrences that can show a deeper meaning than morality. Poems
such as Tintern Abbey Ode to a Grecian Urn and Ode to a Nightingale are written in the period when
Romantic Expressivism was the understanding of the universe. A Romantic poets insight comes from
the vision that they originally express as well as their views of the cosmos. The authors behind these
poems write in such a style that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A poem by William Wordsworth, Tintern Abbey , pushes forth to a concept of an expressivist view or
idea that embodies the new movement of Romantics. John Keats, Ode to a Grecian Urn and Ode to a
Nightingale also contains the original thought of the universe and gives a certain truth that serves as an
insight into the mind of those who wrote during this time period. Tintern Abbey entails deeply into
nature, and the reoccurrence of a past life. Wordsworth had visited the Tintern Abbey before, and
returns five years late while he is on tour. From the opening phrase, we can detect a hint of
laboriousness, even a potential tedium. (Fairer 179) Moving more into his writing, he goes deeper into
his meaning using sensual language:
The landscape with the quiet of the sky.
The day is come when I again repose
Here, under this dark sycamore, and view
These plots of cottage ground, these orchard tufts (Wordsworth 289, Line 8 11)
This short excerpt from his poem recalled his past and present time in viewing the Abbey and signifies
a true feeling of love or excitement to return to a memory that brings about this setting of tranquility.
Repetition in the sense of a reoccurring state of mind can suggest how time takes its toll. (Fairer 179)

Kill three million of them, and the rest will eat out of our hands (qtd. in Hensher). In keeping with this
declaration of General Yahya Khan, West Pakistani soldiers began a campaign in 1971 to torture and

diplomacy must be implemented to prevent the extreme suffering of millions of people and halt the
causes of genocide before murder and military intervention are necessary. Currently, one particular
conflict strongly resembles the East Pakistan genocide, namely the war in Syria. The civil war in Syria
has caused 60,000 deaths, mostly rebel soldiers and Sunni civilians, as the oppressive government of
Bashar al Assad continues to halt uprisings and murder citizens (Genocide Watch). In order to stop
further suffering, determined international negotiations and increased understanding between religious
groups will be necessary. Situations such as the events in Syria often begin with events in which a
group of people are viewed as inferior and unworthy of living. In the East Pakistan genocide, these
events were evident through the statements of the main perpetrators such as Yahya Khan, as they
portrayed the Bengalis as lesser beings and unworthy of living. In order to prevent senseless suffering
and the countless loss of lives in the future, and also to ensure a successful and harmonious society,

Oppression In The Yellow Wallpaper And Reunion
Oppression is a theme commonly found in literary texts, which is best defined as an unjust or
excessive exercise of power. For instance, Charlotte Perkins Gilman s The Yellow Wallpaper
illustrates oppression through the tragic story of a woman s descent into madness as a result of her
husband s dominance over her. Additionally, John Cheever s Reunion illustrates the act of oppression
in a son s narration of his reunion with his pompous father. Although The Yellow Wallpaper and
Reunion offer different storylines, both literary texts demonstrate how submissiveness can result in
strained relationships and a character s destruction. In the story, The Yellow Wallpaper, Charlotte

expectations of his father are shattered upon realizing the struggle to try to salvage what is clearly a
strained relationship. Throughout Charlie s narration, it becomes apparent that the primary reason
behind the strained relationship is his father s oppressive nature. Immediately upon their reunion, the
father demonstrated an excessive exercise of power by patronizing the waiters in the restaurants he

Due to his desperate attempt to impress Charlie by unjustifiably commanding those around him, the
father diminishes his chance of a healthy relationship with his son. Although the father offered a small

have a tight race. Unfortunately, after a series groundbreaking religious manipulations by the
organization the Islamic Defenders Front (F.P.I. in Bahasa), he decisively lost to Anies Baswedan.
Through usage of Ashok s double minority status as a Christian and ethnic chinese the F.P.I. managed
to convince voters he was not the right fit, even after his success in creating a more transparent budget
and improving infrastructure. The F.P.I persuaded people through flashy, deceitful, slogans accusations

A large part of the majority Muslim country was infuriated by his heinous actions, which were simply
lighthearted words with no malicious intent. The blasphemy case derailed his campaign for reelection
thus helping the F.P.I. s agenda for election of a Muslim governor. The emotional manipulation the
F.P.I. and Hitler participated in proved to be incredibly successful in their push for power. Next, Fidel
Castro attempted to appeal to the feelings of his people and Nikita Khrushchev to wage a nuclear war
against the United States of America. John F. Kennedy and Nikita Khrushchev failed to take him
seriously, seeming to conduct haphazard invasions. In turn, Castro worried he would lose Cuba and be
swept under their control. To prevent this he appealed to his people by saying, The result of aggression
against Cuba will be the start of a conflagration of incalculable consequences, and they will be
affected too, he told the Cuban people, It will no longer be a matter of them feasting on us. They will
get as good as they give. His words convinced the Cuban people that a suicide mission to destroy
America was in their best interest. Castro s arguments were not based on logic, rather, he cited the
preservation of communism as priority number one. Moreover, when the United States was alerted of
Cuba s possession of missiles, and threatened Cuba he refused back down. Castro even tried to bring

Essay on The Horse Fair by Rosa Bonheur
The Horse Parade Dozens of horses are charging through the fair grounds, each hoof vibrating the
ground, which causes chaos to erupt. Some horses are white as for a person of royalty, and others a
mysterious brown. Through all this chaos, Rosa Bonheur paints what is before her. Her painting is
called The Horse Fair. The painting itself is 8 feet tall by 16 feet wide.1 The Horse Fair is located at
the Metropolitan Museum of Art.1 Bonheur uses a panoramic view in her painting.2 The Horse Fair
was inspired by the horse market that Rosa Bonheur use to visit on Boulevard De l Ho ̂pital.1 The
building in the upper far left of the painting is called Asylum on Salpetriere, which is located in
Paris.3 The people on the hill in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bonheur was an important figure in women s right; she herself reflects the social movement for
women. She was a women that didn t let society s standards keep her down; she worked hard to build
her career. Bonheur was the first woman in France to get a permit to wear pants.1 The police s
reasoning for allowing Rosa this permit was because of health, and her doctor co signed the permit.1
The slaughterhouses and fairgrounds would dirty her dresses thus it was impractical for her to wear a
dress. Bonheur was smart she knew what wearing pants would do to her career.1 She knew buyers
would not purchase paintings that came from a woman who wore pants, so Bonheur would wear
dresses to social events. Naturalism in art is both a style and a theory of accurate representation of
details in demonstrating an object or living thing.2 For example, to portray an animal anatomically
correctly, one needs to see the animals from the inside out. Similar to Leonardo Da Vinci, Bonheur
would dissect the animal to understand the anatomy.1 Unlike Da Vinci, Bonheur strictly dissected
animals. Being anatomically correct is a huge key in making a piece of work realistic. The purpose of
explaining her work is to prove that Rosa Bonheur displays naturalism through her painting. Rosa
Bonheur used many structural elements in creating The Horse Fair; in addition to Bonheur s
anatomical accuracy, she used chiaroscuro, and color to display naturalism. Bonheur uses

After Working As A Senior Software Developer For Past 7
After working as a senior software developer for past 7 years at Infosys, one of the largest Indian IT

A desire to learn has no limits and I buckled up to put the pursuit of dreams into perspective. I was
always fascinated since my 8th grade, how a DOS command can write my name, how a 1.44MB
floppy size can store the documents, how a CD can play a music through computer and how I can use
copious colors on my computer screen without getting my hands colored and many more. I knew I

Spanish and French Monarchial Beliefs
The palace of Versailles was built by Louis XIV of France (1643 1715), and the Escorial was built by
Philip II of Spain (1556 1598). By examining the aerial and frontal facades of these two palaces, it
may be seen that there were many similarities and differences between the two kings perception and
practice of monarchy. Each king set his own goals for his life, and concluded as to how a monarch
ought to behave. Both Louis XIV and Philip II had religious duties to pay attention to, organized the
distribution of power in their respective kingdoms, communicated with other countries and entities
through war and diplomacy, raised militaries, and made plans for the expansion of their own beliefs,
thoughts and practices. Aside from these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Louis XIV preferred to delegate power to new nobles, or affluent bourgeois who had recently received
their noble status from the king. The lords who were not hereditary nobles had not yet had enough
time to gain any actual power that could be used in rebellion against the king. Philip II, however, did
not diversify the existing hierarchy of power, but embraced it. Upon the building of the Escorial, many
new Hidalgos were not created just to satisfy the needs of a larger bureaucracy. In addition, the Roman
Catholic church even went inside the walls of the Escorial. This shows Philip II s embrace of the
existing power of the Holy See. Conversely, at the court of Versailles, Louis XIV did not make the
church a significant part of his chateau, therefore removing most of the internal persuasion from the
clergy. (Even if there was a large religious influence at Versailles, by the Pragmatic Sanction of
Bourges (1438), the ‘Galician church was politically independent from the Holy See.) br br Louis
XIV and Philip II had some similar and some different methods for handling foreign affairs. Louis
XIV deployed the French army against many different peoples, being always at war or preparing for
war in order to keep peace at home, and war abroad. Philip II also deployed his armies against various
people, however, he did so in order to expand the boundaries of Catholicism. Concerning diplomatic
relations, Louis XIV was much more involved than

deserted their mansion. One night, the girl s mother decided to return to the mansion and look for her
daughter. It is here where she encounters the paperhanger once more. During this scene, the mother
offers to pay him to drive her into the woods and look for her daughter. He replied, I wouldn t charge
anybody anything to search for a child s body. But she s not in the woods. Nothing could have stayed
hidden, the way these woods were searched (165). By offering to help the child s mother the
paperhanger gains the mother s trust. To the reader, he appears to be helping the mother during a time
of need, making him a decent friend. The paperhanger manipulated the situation, to get the girl s
mother to trust him and consequently leave with him. He knew the child would not be found, not
because the woods were extensively searched, but because he remains. The paperhanger was supposed
to drive the child s mother to the woods, but instead drives her to a cemetery. After noticing that some
of the graves had been dismantled and robbed, she tells the paperhanger. He responded by saying, You
can t rob the dead. They have nothing left to steal (167). The woman was shocked by his response and
then asked him if he had robbed the graves. He responded by saying, The line between grave robbing
and archeology has always looked a little blurry to me. I was studying their culture trying to get a fix

The intriguing supernatural thriller, Sixth Sense, combines a mixture of honesty and deception to
create a film which is renowned as having one of the most unpredictable and satisfying endings, at
least in recent cinema. Directed by M. Night Shyamalan, the film reveals the tortured existence of
Cole, a very unique little boy, cursed with a unique but sinister gift, a sixth sense the ability to see the
dead. Haunted by these apparitions since birth and unable to share his troubles for fear of suspicion of
his insanity, Cole struggles under the burden of his gift, leaving him disturbed and isolated from those
around him until the more obvious signs of his mental turmoil begin to appear in his behaviour.

In the following two scenes it is possible to find many instances of the techniques which make this
possible and to perceive more fully the connection between what we are shown and what this leads us
to presume.
In the first of the two scenes we witness the introduction of Cole and Dr Crowe in what appears to be
a pre arranged visit. A vital part of convincing the audience of his existence is in creating the illusion
of interaction between himself and others and in the opening of the scene, the body language of Cole s
mother and Dr Crowe is used to suggest this. In medium shot, (often used to provide a ?blank sheet?
for emotions), we see the two characters in profile. While Dr Crowe is calm and smiling slightly, Cole
s mother holds her body angled away from him and has a tight, cold expression, giving a definite
impression of tension. From this it appears that a conversation and more probably a disagreement has
taken place between them, as a ghost he would be unable to do this, the audience would have no
reason to suspect him at this point. The tension also allows us to presume that she looks away from
him in order to avoid his gaze, rather than as a result of his invisibility. However, both here and when
Cole enters the room medium close up shots and shots over the shoulder provide us with a view Dr
Crowe s line of sight and of course it is only natural to assume that if his gaze was

Is Procrastination Negatively Impacted Professional...
Procrastination may negatively impact professional advancement and general well being, yet to our
knowledge, the relationship with sleep quality has not been investigated. Poor sleep impacts physical
and emotional health, underscoring the importance of addressing this potential outcome. It was
hypothesized that procrastination will be associated with subjective sleep difficulties, an association
mediated by ruminative cognitions. 598 respondents (154 men: Mage = 25.6 ± 3.8; 444 women Mage
= 24.8 ± 3.3) completed online questionnaires regarding procrastination, sleep disturbances,
rumination, emotional state, and chronotype. A structural equation model approach was used for
model testing. Results demonstrated that procrastination positively correlated with sleep disturbance, a
link moderated by chronotype, such that self identified Morning Types reported lower procrastination,
fewer sleep disturbances, and the two measures did not correlate. Among Intermediate and Evening
Types the relationship between procrastination and sleep was mediated by rumination and negative
mood. These findings suggest that addressing the impact on sleep should be one of the targets of
interventions for treating procrastination. 1. Introduction Had I been less firmly resolved upon setting

Quebec Separatist Movement Case Study
In June 24, 1968, the leader of RIN Pierre Bourgault, had called for public protests against Pierre
Trudeau. The RIN was involved in a riot which took place in Montreal streets and park that forced the
suspension of the negotiations. Shortly, when the negotiation was resumed in the August of 1968, the
RIN held their early position of making Quebec a unilingual and thus the RIN withdrew from the
negotiation. Meanwhile, the MSA and RN was integrated, Rene Levesque was chosen as acting
president of the organization, and Gilles Gregoire was elected as vice president of the new
organization which later became known as Pati Quebecois. In a short period of time, Rene Levesque
almost managed to take full control of Quebec Separatist Movement. Only ... Show more content on

Learning Behavior Essays
Learning Behavior
Psychologists have preformed many studies and proposed many theories regarding learning. Learning
can be defined as a relatively permanent change in behavior that is due to past experience. John B.
Watson was an early psychologist that didn t agree with many other psychologist s ideas about
learning only relating to consciousness and thought processes. As the founder of behaviorism, Watson
studied learning in a behavioral perspective, an approach that emphasizes the relationship between
outwardly observable behaviors and environmental events, rather than mental processes. Classical
conditioning is a process of learning associations between stimuli used by Ivan Pavlov, a Russian
physiologist. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Skinner believed that classical conditioning was limited to behaviors that are reflexively elicited. An
operant describes behaviors that are operate upon the environment to generate consequences.
Reinforcement follows an operant and increases the likelihood of the operant being repeated. There
are two forms of reinforcement: positive and negative reinforcement. When an event occurs producing
a positive effect, it is considered positive reinforcement. Negative reinforcement involves the removal
of a stimulus increasing the likelihood of a positive effect. An example of this would be to take two
aspirins to remove the pain from a headache. Punishment is a process that decreases the likelihood of
a behavior to occur again. This is not to be confused with negative reinforcement because it doesn t
increase the likelihood of an occurrence. There are drawbacks to punishment. It doesn t teach an
appropriate behavior to replace an inappropriate one. Also, intense punishment can lead to results such
as passivity, fear, anxiety, or hostility. Finally, effects of punishment are sometimes temporary. An
alternative to punishment is trying to change the behavior of others. First, stop reinforcing the problem
behavior by identifying the reinforcer and eliminating it. When it is not possible to eliminate the
reinforcement, remove the opportunity to obtain positive reinforcement. An example of this would be
time out for a child because he or she is no longer

Kindergarten-Full Day Versus Half Day
The sky is the limit for children. The benefits of children attending full day kindergarten are far
greater than those children that attend half day. Some parents and educators disagree; they say that
children should not be forced into their educational career so young. Whether for or against full day
kindergarten, the common goal for all parents is the well being for each individual child. Every child
has different needs and capabilities. Parents have to make an informed decision on full day or half day
kindergarten. That decision can be a difficult one. Ultimately that decision is the starting point for the
next twelve or more years of education for these young children. Connecticut does not have a law
mandating all towns have full day ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Standardized tests and classroom grades find that full day students achieve higher and improve student
attendance. There is better attendance in full day kindergarten due to the parents understanding that
there is so much more information and teaching provided during a longer day and does not want their
child to miss, supporting a childs literacy and language development has long lasting effects that are
greater in children that attend full day kindergarten (Villegas 2). One study showed higher reading
achievement persisting through third grade and in some cases even seventh grade (Villegas 1).
Enrolling a child in full day kindergarten benefits them socially and emotionally. Full day gives
children a balance of structured play and self play. Being with classmates for more hours in a
classroom forces them to build positive relationships. Those relationships last sometimes all the way
through twelfth grade. Decreases costs by reducing retention and remediation rates (Villegas 1, 2).
One study, which found full day students to be more than twice as likely to remain on grade through
third grade, showed that this academic benefit helped to offset 19 percent of the first year s cost of
extending the kindergarten day (Villegas 2). For those children in half day kindergarten, they need to
have before and after care in some

  • 3. The And Of A Bernoulli Random Abstract Abstract here Humans, and animals, often perceive events as being random. Many lab oratory and controlled studies have been conducted over the last half century to determine human ability to detect whether a particular string of events is random. Often, these studies consist of detecting whether some binary sequence has the properties of a bernoulli random variable. From the re sults of these studies, we can conclude experimental subjects hold the Law of Small Numbers (Tversky Kahneman, 1971) to be true. Particularly, many studies have found humans have a skewed perception of and researchers do not understand randomness. In this paper, we seek to answer three focused questions: 1. Can randomness be defined, and if so, how can humans determine whether a sequence is random? 2. What have previous studies concluded with regard to decision makers skill in determining whether a sequence is random? 3. Are we able to develop a rigorous, mathematical argument regarding randomness? Before we begin to answer these questions, we will present definitions from the literature to facilitate the discussion. 1 1 Definitions Two ubiquitous concept used in studies of randomness are the gambler s fal lacy and the hot hand. Using the definitions from Oskarsson, van Boven, McClelland, and Hastie (2009), we will define the gambler s fallacy as the judgement the streak will end. The gambler s fallacy is also known as neg ative recency. The hot hand is the judgement that a streak will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Auteur Theory By Francois Truffaut The auteur theory first began in the 1950s by a group of young French scholars who wrote for the journal Cahiers du Cinema. Most significant of these scholars was Francois Truffaut who wrote an article that served as the touchstone for auteurism. The auteur principle is used as a descriptive method that focuses not on whether a director is a great director but rather on the fundamental composition of a director s work. This principle therefore focuses on a director s thematic and stylistic uniformity, established filming method, personal artistic vision, recurring themes and most significantly his control over a film s production. Auteur films are distinctive due to the unique artistic vision of its director and the fact that it imbues his personality. The auteur term is consequently used to distinguish directors whose works are distinguishable from others. It is important to note that not all directors can be auteurs. Only certain directors were able to express their personality through their works with the use of themes and style and would therefore to continuously produce the same types of stories. Looking at all of a director s work was the only way to identify their individuality and to be able to place their mark on a film suggested the strength of the director as an artist. The style and overall form is the primary concern of an auteur film, not the content. The best directors were able to do this so skillfully that their talents allowed them to artistically reshape ... [P3] Legal Issues The Data Protection Act 1998 is the act to control how your personal information is used by organisations, businesses or the government. All businesses, organisations and even the government must abide by this Act so that personal information must be used lawfully and fairly this means that everyone who has access to your personal information must use it for limited, specifically stated purposes and must inform the corresponding person of how his/her personal information is going to be used. Any living thing on this planet has the possibility of developing this uncontrollable disease. This includes scientists, medical doctors, regulators, owners of drug companies, along with their loved ones, meaning that they aren t immune to cancer ( Big ). Many people in our society claim that the medical industry, along with the government, is keeping the cure to cancers suppressed. In figure 2 we see a perfect example of how society sees the scientists and doctors involved. As a result, there is no way these doctors would keep quiet if the cure to cancer was out there due to the fact they aren t heartless robots who would let a loved one die knowing that they could get their hands on the one thing that could save them. There are many oncologists who are in the business to honestly help and make a difference in the world. Michael Higgins, a cancer patient, states in an interview I have been fortunate because almost all of them have been remarkably compassionate and caring people. At least one of them was motivated to pursue cancer research by the loss of a close relative. This makes it evident that there are doctors who have dedicated their career to working hard, conducting research, and trying to find the end to this horrible disease. If the cure was really out there, then there wouldn t be so much effort given by doctors. Instead the industry would be more laid back and nonchalant but, that isn t the case. Just like there s evil in this world, there is also good (Michael Higgins). While it seems to be that the conspiracy cannot be true, it is very evident why some had hope that the conspiracy was true. The main reason some believe this conspiracy is true is because cancer is a multi billion dollar industry. Since the club has lost a total of 3 general managers in the course of 10 years, Chris has assessed the situation that the club has been facing and it is a total mess. You d be more likely to discover a bag of dusty, old dinosaur bones in your backyard before you could uncover the answer to that question. In order to answer the question at hand, you must first understand three things. One; a labyrinth is a maze leading you through Hell and back, filled with false paths, twists, and turns don t get lost. It is the major threat to the planet earth and to minimize this threat, it will require a major reduction in the burning of the coal and fossil fuels. The fossil fuel industry that releases Green house gases like carbon dioxide in major percentage, methane, nitrous oxide, has played major role in this threat increment and its contents is increasing daily in the atmosphere. As Earth s climate warms, rapid loss of glacial ice is being documented around the world. The rising of the sea levels throughout the world is also observed. As a nurse this could be mean the way you respond or act towards patients, supervisors, and co workers. The way nurse s respond is important because it can affect the patient and others around them. Nurse s are held to a higher standard when it comes to being trustworthy and professional. They are expected to hold values of Beneficence, nonmaleficence, and autonomy. Black mentioned the definition of beneficence is determining what is good or best for the patient. Autonomy is when the individual has the right to make their own decisions in health care. Black (2014) defined nonmaleficence as the duty to not put the patient in harm. To behave in a professional way can allow the nurse to create a therapeutic relationship with the patient. Allowing the patient to trust that the nurse s response is in the best interest and respect of the patient (NCSBN). By having the best interest in the patient s outcome, the nurse would abstain from attaining personal gain at the patient s expense. The space between the patient s vulnerability and the nurse s power is where professional boundaries are met (NCSBN). By the year of 1809, the number of elements discovered at the time was up to 47. Also, scientists began to see a pattern in the characteristics of the elements. Later in 1863, The 56 elements discovered at the time were then divided into 11 groups based on their characteristics by an english chemist named John Newlands. In the year 1869 a Russian chemist by the name of Dimitri Mendeleev started the making of the periodic table. He started by rearranging the elements in order of atomic mass. He also expected the discovery of other elements, so he decided to leave empty spaces in his table so he could add new elements later. In 1894, the noble gases were discovered by Sir William Ramsay and Lord Rayleigh. The noble gases were added to the periodic table in a group labeled 0. Eventually in 1945, Glenn Seaborg discovered and identified lanthanides and actinides. The Lanthanides were the elements with atomic numbers greater than 57 and lower than 71. The Actinides were elements greater than 92. These elements today are located underneath the periodic table (refer to figure 1). He intends to use the same characters in more than one film, for example he uses Uma Thurman as his leading lady in more than one movie and another example would be Samuel L. Jackson who he casted in Pulp Fiction (1994) and Django Unchained (2012). Another technique from Tarantino would be the colour, font and pictures within his film posters. Most of his action film posters use a lot of red in the title with big bold font to make the typo stand out, he also uses a lot of red in the foreground or the background of his posters to symbolise the amount of bloodshed in The film lastly would be the props that he uses, usually a weapon and normally a gun or sword. Tarantino always uses the same fundamental themes and techniques in order to print his signature on his work. Most of his films narratives consist of the theme of racism and the rational and continues use of the N word, the overuse of foul language and the cinematography of his mise en scene including the position of the camera, his tracking techniques and his long takes. Although the specific food traditions throughout Christianity and Judaism differ greatly, the role of food in these holidays is largely the same. Food is imbued with a sense of remembrance and reverence, creating a level of similarity between two very distinct traditions. Hanukkah, or the Festival of Lights, is a central holiday in modern Judaism. Turkey is common, although other large birds are often substituted. In predominantly Catholic parts of Europe, the traditional Christmas dinner is The Vigil, a feast comprised of seven varieties of fish either baked or fried in oil. This stems from the Catholic tradition of avoiding meat on some holidays, and incorporates a lesson on Catholic numerology into the meal. While there has been some effort to incorporate Christian lessons and stories into Christmas foods, such as candy canes, the spiritual aspect of Christmas food is still fairly nebulous in its presentation. Because it draws from such diverse cultural backgrounds, as opposed to the less varied cultural heritage of Judaism, food is not as highly valued as a teaching tool. That is not to say there is no religious motivation behind Christmas food, or that there are no parallels to traditional Hanukkah foods, but these parallels and motivations are superficial at best. Instead, one must look at the overarching themes behind Christmas and Hanukkah food traditions in order to find a connection. For Rivalin and Blancheflor, Tristan and Isolde, and also King Mark, the affliction causes them to act in a way that they would normally shun. Love changes the perspective on life of those who become intoxicated by its power; whether it s shared as a couple or entirely unreciprocated, the lust to attain and secure its presence is consuming. Rivalin, less prudent then his future son, risks the wrath of an angry Mark by out right eloping with his true love. Under the influence of love s tyrannical reign, both disregard their reservations and good sense; blinded by passion they escape to Parmenie to be legally wed. Like a wounded cowboy in a classic western film who downs whiskey to avoid the pain of a gunshot wound or snake bite, love appears to ease the pain of Rivalin s wounds after a battle. Although on what is almost his death, the passion for Blancheflor numbs his hurt and allows Tristan to be conceived. As perfect lovers, Tristan and Isolde s addiction to Cupid s opiate is surpassed by none. Once Isolde has the epiphany that the killer of her Uncle Morold is bathing in the next room, she is enraged. However, she is unable to extract revenge on Tristan. • 40. The Role Of Government In Indonesia Two rounds of gubernatorial election occurred in February and April of 2017 to elect a governor of the capital of Indonesia, Jakarta. Popular incumbent governor Basuki Tjahaja or Ahok was expected to have a tight race. Unfortunately, after a series groundbreaking religious manipulations by the organization the Islamic Defenders Front (F.P.I. in Bahasa), he decisively lost to Anies Baswedan. Through usage of Ashok s double minority status as a Christian and ethnic chinese the F.P.I. managed to convince voters he was not the right fit, even after his success in creating a more transparent budget and improving infrastructure. They will get as good as they give. His words convinced the Cuban people that a suicide mission to destroy America was in their best interest. Castro s arguments were not based on logic, rather, he cited the preservation of communism as priority number one. Some horses are white as for a person of royalty, and others a mysterious brown. Through all this chaos, Rosa Bonheur paints what is before her. Her painting is called The Horse Fair. The painting itself is 8 feet tall by 16 feet wide.1 The Horse Fair is located at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.1 Bonheur uses a panoramic view in her painting.2 The Horse Fair was inspired by the horse market that Rosa Bonheur use to visit on Boulevard De l Ho ̂pital.1 The building in the upper far left of the painting is called Asylum on Salpetriere, which is located in Paris.3 The people on the hill in the ... Bonheur was smart she knew what wearing pants would do to her career.1 She knew buyers would not purchase paintings that came from a woman who wore pants, so Bonheur would wear dresses to social events. Naturalism in art is both a style and a theory of accurate representation of details in demonstrating an object or living thing.2 For example, to portray an animal anatomically correctly, one needs to see the animals from the inside out. Similar to Leonardo Da Vinci, Bonheur would dissect the animal to understand the anatomy.1 Unlike Da Vinci, Bonheur strictly dissected animals. Being anatomically correct is a huge key in making a piece of work realistic. The purpose of explaining her work is to prove that Rosa Bonheur displays naturalism through her painting. Rosa Bonheur used many structural elements in creating The Horse Fair; in addition to Bonheur s anatomical accuracy, she used chiaroscuro, and color to display naturalism. Bonheur uses ... Upon the building of the Escorial, many new Hidalgos were not created just to satisfy the needs of a larger bureaucracy. In addition, the Roman Catholic church even went inside the walls of the Escorial. This shows Philip II s embrace of the existing power of the Holy See. Conversely, at the court of Versailles, Louis XIV did not make the church a significant part of his chateau, therefore removing most of the internal persuasion from the clergy. In the following two scenes it is possible to find many instances of the techniques which make this possible and to perceive more fully the connection between what we are shown and what this leads us to presume. In the first of the two scenes we witness the introduction of Cole and Dr Crowe in what appears to be a pre arranged visit. A vital part of convincing the audience of his existence is in creating the illusion of interaction between himself and others and in the opening of the scene, the body language of Cole s mother and Dr Crowe is used to suggest this. In medium shot, (often used to provide a ?blank sheet? for emotions), we see the two characters in profile. While Dr Crowe is calm and smiling slightly, Cole s mother holds her body angled away from him and has a tight, cold expression, giving a definite impression of tension. From this it appears that a conversation and more probably a disagreement has taken place between them, as a ghost he would be unable to do this, the audience would have no reason to suspect him at this point. The tension also allows us to presume that she looks away from him in order to avoid his gaze, rather than as a result of his invisibility. However, both here and when Cole enters the room medium close up shots and shots over the shoulder provide us with a view Dr Crowe s line of sight and of course it is only natural to assume that if his gaze was ... • 47. Is Procrastination Negatively Impacted Professional... Procrastination may negatively impact professional advancement and general well being, yet to our knowledge, the relationship with sleep quality has not been investigated. Poor sleep impacts physical and emotional health, underscoring the importance of addressing this potential outcome. It was hypothesized that procrastination will be associated with subjective sleep difficulties, an association mediated by ruminative cognitions. 598 respondents (154 men: Mage = 25.6 ± 3.8; 444 women Mage = 24.8 ± 3.3) completed online questionnaires regarding procrastination, sleep disturbances, rumination, emotional state, and chronotype. A structural equation model approach was used for model testing. Results demonstrated that procrastination positively correlated with sleep disturbance, a link moderated by chronotype, such that self identified Morning Types reported lower procrastination, fewer sleep disturbances, and the two measures did not correlate. Among Intermediate and Evening Types the relationship between procrastination and sleep was mediated by rumination and negative mood. These findings suggest that addressing the impact on sleep should be one of the targets of interventions for treating procrastination. 1. • 49. Learning Behavior Essays Learning Behavior Psychologists have preformed many studies and proposed many theories regarding learning. Learning can be defined as a relatively permanent change in behavior that is due to past experience. John B. Watson was an early psychologist that didn t agree with many other psychologist s ideas about learning only relating to consciousness and thought processes. As the founder of behaviorism, Watson studied learning in a behavioral perspective, an approach that emphasizes the relationship between outwardly observable behaviors and environmental events, rather than mental processes. Classical conditioning is a process of learning associations between stimuli used by Ivan Pavlov, a Russian physiologist. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Skinner believed that classical conditioning was limited to behaviors that are reflexively elicited. An operant describes behaviors that are operate upon the environment to generate consequences. Reinforcement follows an operant and increases the likelihood of the operant being repeated. There are two forms of reinforcement: positive and negative reinforcement. When an event occurs producing a positive effect, it is considered positive reinforcement. Negative reinforcement involves the removal of a stimulus increasing the likelihood of a positive effect. An example of this would be to take two aspirins to remove the pain from a headache. Punishment is a process that decreases the likelihood of a behavior to occur again. This is not to be confused with negative reinforcement because it doesn t increase the likelihood of an occurrence. There are drawbacks to punishment. It doesn t teach an appropriate behavior to replace an inappropriate one. Also, intense punishment can lead to results such as passivity, fear, anxiety, or hostility. Finally, effects of punishment are sometimes temporary. An alternative to punishment is trying to change the behavior of others. First, stop reinforcing the problem behavior by identifying the reinforcer and eliminating it. When it is not possible to eliminate the reinforcement, remove the opportunity to obtain positive reinforcement. An example of this would be time out for a child because he or she is no longer ... Some parents and educators disagree; they say that children should not be forced into their educational career so young. Whether for or against full day kindergarten, the common goal for all parents is the well being for each individual child. Every child has different needs and capabilities.
