Essay Significance of the Number 3 in Fairy Tales
Significance of the Number 3 in Fairy Tales
Numbers do not exist. They are creations of the mind, existing only in the realm of understanding. No
one has ever touched a number, nor would it be possible to do so. You may sketch a symbol on a paper
that represents a number, but that symbol is not the number itself. A number is just understood.
Nevertheless, numbers hold symbolic meaning. Have you ever asked yourself serious questions about
the significance, implications, and roles of numbers? For example, Why does the number ten denote a
change to double digits? Is zero a number or a non number? Or, the matter this paper will address:
Why does the number three hold an understood and symbolic importance?
My interest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, I offer what I call the Utility Based Approach, which attempts to explain the prominence of
three by noting its usefulness in telling fairy tales. Indeed, the Utility Based Approach proposes that
three, being the smallest possible number that denotes a group, is a useful entity when recalling a tale
whose audience is assumed to either (1) desire mental relaxation, or (2) lack advanced/complex
mental capabilities.
Background/Historical Context
Three has a logical reason for its important role throughout history. It is not merely the number that
happens to fall between two and four. Three is the union of oneness and duality. It is the first number
that is a combination of various previous numbers (assuming, as most societies have done, that zero is
not a number). One and two are special as they are representations of oneness and otherness , but three
starts the procession of all other numbers to follow (the set of numbers, 3 infinity, that can be the sum
of a variety of previous numbers) (Symbolism). Whether this is realized consciously or
subconsciously, it is an undeniable truth that seems hard to avoid. Indeed, this idea could be what gave
rise to the spiritual significance of three.
Three has always played an important part in the Judeo/Christian beliefs, as Ken Bassett outlines in
his Pastor Note No. 138. First, and probably most

In 2015, the health and medical sector experienced the second largest number of breaches.
Therefore, more organizations are taking measures to secure against cyber attacks.
In reaction to these challenges, they re being more proactive about preventing security incidents and
breaches by learning about new threats, regularly educating employees about risks, and investing in
more advanced security solutions, says Sanjay Castelino, vice president at Spiceworks, a professional
network for the IT industry.
Pharmaceutical companies, insurance agencies, research hospitals, and countless medical practices
must take safeguards to secure health information. It s vital to surviving in our competitive
marketplace.
Let s explore how HIPAA compliant online forms can protect your company.
Emerging Risks
According to the 2015 KPMG Healthcare Cybersecurity Survey, 81% of healthcare executives report
that their organizations have been compromised by malware, botnets or cyber attacks at least once in
the past two years.
There s an increasingly new wave of thieves who desire this type healthcare data. This usually
includes specific information about an individual s health status and payment for healthcare.
Carl Leonard, principal security analyst for Raytheon/Websense, says hackers want this data because
it offers a high financial value. So, the information is sold on the

I Love To Keep Mount Everest Research Paper
The rewards of keeping Mount Everest are risks and death. My decision is to keep Mount Everest
because it s a extreme sport you have to have faith, courage, and you have to be wise. The reason why
you have these characteristics is because so you could be safe. First you need to have faith and
courage because you can t go in nervous and scared because you can end up getting hurt. Lastly is
wise. You need to be wise because you need to plan your moves and you need to be smart about what
you do.
First reasons why I would love to keep Mount Everest is because it s part of our history everyone
knows what it is as a matter of fact Mount Everest is 29,029 feet tall one of the tallest and mountain in
the world. In paragraph four it says It s an quest that provides a sense of achievement (Source 1). That
s one reason why I would love to keep Mount Everest because people love that rush in their blood
system, they love that feeling that scared feeling, and by the time you complete what you did you feel
good about yourself. Some people love challenges and Mount Everest is one of the biggest challenges
you would have in your life. Mount Everest could be a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It would make you forget about everything because when you re doing whatever you re doing you
have to forget about things because those things could be distracting and that can lead to death. So I
believe that Mount Everest can be a stress reliever. Paragraph three says European explorers risked
their lives in the Age of Discovery (Source 1). People risk their life for this mountain they love that
rush so much. In addition, Mount Everest comes with big responsibilities. You have to bring a can of
oxygen because once you get to a high altitude you need oxygen. Second, you need to be dressed right
because it s so cold you can end up freezing getting frostbite and end up dead. Mount Everest can

Personal Application of Criminology Paper
When a person is in a situation like this, they may have a million things going through their heads,
sometimes not and they ll just proceed with calling the Police. With this situation one can handle it in
a few ways, first call the police, then proceed with calling the boy s parents, and tell my son what
happened. If one can find out why this situation came about, meaning why your son s friend came into
your house by using a break in tool such as a lock pick, finding out that information would be helpful

crimes like the sons friend committed they have a database called AFIS automated fingerprinting is an

Summary... Gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding is a sign that there is a problem in your digestive tract. Your
digestive tract consists of the following organs: esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine or
colon, rectum, and anus. GI bleeding can occur in any one of these organs. If the bleeding occurs in
your esophagus, stomach, or small intestine, it is considered upper GI bleeding. Gastrointestinal
bleeding in the large intestine, rectum, or anus is called lower GI bleeding. The amount of bleeding
you experience can range from a very small amount of blood to a life threatening hemorrhage. In
some cases, the amount of bleeding may be so small that it only shows up in lab tests.

Reflection Paper On Grandmother
My grandmother has been a very important person throughout my life. My entire childhood was spent
with her, and we grew older together. Since we spent so much time with one another, it was inevitable
for me to always get stuck hearing her stories about the good ol days and the stories that always
started with back in my time . Just as any teenager would do, I tuned these stories out and replied with
a laugh at the end. Looking back now, I wish that I had paid more attention to those stories that
defined my grandmother and made her who she is today. Fortunately, I have been given the
opportunity to go back in time with her and let her reminisce and share those stories once again while
I listen full heartedly. To begin the discussion, I asked her to share her childhood with me and how it
was like growing up in her time. She told me memories she had with her family, her favorite hobbies,
and how different the school system was back then. After we explored every aspect of her life in the
past, we delved into the present to discuss how the aging process has had an impact on her. My
grandmother s attitude towards anything is very optimistic, so I would only expect it to be the same
for this process. She states that she sees growing older as her opportunity to do as much as she can and
whatever she wants. By keeping this positive outlook on life, it allows her to stay mentally and
physically younger. At the age of 65, she experienced a ruptured brain aneurysm, and I presume her
outlook on life changed dramatically because of this. She was given a second chance at life, and she
could not be more thankful for that. Given this opportunity, she does not take anything for granted and
is just lucky to be living. This is what keeps her going. Attitude is everything, she says smiling. On the
other hand, she has seen the other side of the aging process. Her husband is quite a bit older than she
is, and his health has been declining rapidly. By seeing his aging process not be successful and as
optimal as hers, she does have a slightly negative attitude regarding it at times. After suffering a major
heart attack, his cognition and physical abilities have declined, and his attitude is very negative. Due
to this, her

A Short Account Of Destruction Of The Indies Analysis
The last element to take in consideration when comparing these two perspectives is the validity of
them. Often, when writing, personal opinions and biased inter the paper. According to the
introduction, Las Cases was a conquistador how converted to the priests hood after having a
revolution. When writing A Short Account of the Destruction of the Indies he was trying to persuade
the monarch that something need to be done about the Spaniards treatment of the natives. To prove his
point Las Casas more than likely over exaggerated the truth to make the atrocities look worse than
they were. For instance, the mascara of Cholula was actually instigated by the Tlaxcala, another tribe
of natives, to prove the Spaniard loyalty and in return; they would

The Teachings Of Muhammad, Siddhartha Gautama ( The Buddha...
Muhammad, Siddhartha Gautama (the Buddha), and Jesus Christ were extremely influential leaders
and were all the keys to establishing three of the major religions today; Islam, Buddhism and
Christianity. These religions are currently the largest religions in the world and influence billions of
people every day. All three of these men have shaped the course of history and redefined the destiny of
mankind. They all lived very interesting lives and preached different lessons to their followers. I
would like to start this essay by first looking into the history of each of these men and later comparing
and contrasting the way they lived their lives as well as their teachings.
Muhammad was born in the year 570 A.D. in the city of Mecca, located now in what is known as
Saudi Arabia. His father, Abdullah died before he was born and his mother, Amina passed away when
Muhammad was around five or six years old. He was then brought up by his grandfather, Abdul
Muttalib, who treated him with the utmost love. Two years passed before his grandfather also passed
away and Muhammad was left in the care of his uncle, Abu Talib and his wife, Fatima. They treated
him just as well if not better than their own children. The love they had for the young boy was
matched by no one.
As Muhammad got older, he became known as a very trust worthy, noble and kind man. When
Muhammad was twenty five years old, he became a trading agent for a wealthy, noble lady by the
name of Khadija. Khadija was so

Stereotypes Of Women
In Society today, women are seen equal to men. The women are taking more men s roles and the men
are taking more of the women s roles. Women have a lot of freedom then they did back in the day,
which means gender portrayals have changed in modern advertising; men are seen in more of
housewife types of advertisements and women are seen more in job recruiting advertisements and
alcohol related advertisements. Women and men now are seen differently in advertisements; there has
been an excessive change in advertisements. Dual Working Parents and Household Work Today, more
men are taking the role of women and doing more household work. According to Hunter and

The women are not dressed traditionally but modernly. According to Törrönen (2013), you see more
women drinking alcohol now then you did before (p.640). Törrönen (2013) states that in the 1900s
women who drink were seen as sexual models, which meant women got spend their own freedom, got
to enjoy how they look and having their sexual side shown. Women were able to show more pride in
advertisements. Alcohol was seen as a beverage that kept the human relaxed and satisfying. Society
saw alcohol as a rich people s beverage, it was seen as classy. Women were dressed classy, as career
women in some advertisements, and they were holding a glass of alcohol (p.654). Which means
change in alcohol advertisements happened in the 1900s, where women were seen more in alcohol
advertisements. Looking at the Bud light image, it relates to the article because in present day
advertisements women get to express themselves more and they can show off their bodies. In the Bud
light image shown, the woman appears to have an athletic body, she is holding a soccer ball. Looking
at the top right side you could see that it is for the FIFA world cup advertisement for America. The
main target of the advertisement would probably be the people watching the game either in a bar or a
game where they could enjoy that bud light drink. Törrönen (2013) Explains how back in the day
women would not be seen in advertisements showing half their body, where they were keeping it
traditional (p.644). Now, when looking at the image there is huge change in society, the women in the
Bud light image is expressing herself and the body she has made by working out, it also allows the
audience to see how women attracts men to sports, by having these advertisements it gives men
pleasure to drink the beer. The woman in the image is actually African American, which is also a huge
change because advertisements usually show more Caucasian

Healthcare Systems Vs. Australian Healthcare System
The following paper is based on the differences between two healthcare systems in two different
countries, these systems are the Australian healthcare system which is Medicare, and England s
National health system which is known as the NHS.
Starting with the organizational structure of the NHS, it is basically an umbrella organization that
comprises of four regional branches, in particular, NHS (England), NHS Scotland, Health and Social
Care in Northern Ireland and NHS Wales. The financing for all these institutions comes from a
universal source, particularly the tax payer money of residents of UK, although they operate to an
extent as self governing institutions. The treasury allocates money to the department of Health, which
in turn allocates money to NHS England (Understanding the new NHS). In other words, the top
executives of these four institutions take decisions independently for day to day operations although
they abide by broader governing directives applicable to the UK region as a whole. Governance is an
important aspect of the operating of the NHS, for without it exploitation by private vested interests is
likely to happen. (National Health Service (NHS): A study of its Structure, Funding and Regulation,
Strengths and Weaknesses, n.d.)
The Australian Medicare system is essentially based around private practice and fee for service. In
England, they have the National Health Service, which is a publicly funded healthcare system, this is
the oldest and biggest

A Study On Data Collection
Data collection will be a combination of qualitative and quantitative. It is important to use a
combination of both because it will provide more information about application of the study and how
future research should be conducted. Before the semester meeting with professors of the ALI program
at UMKC to seek permission to begin the study is vital. Meeting early on also begins to form strong
communication which is necessary to ensure that assignments and ways of incorporating Facebook in
the classroom are different from previous studies. There will be one introductory session with each of
the four courses composed of 30 or so students, collectively there will be about 120 students involved
in this study. Students will not be informed on the purpose of the study, only that their progress in
English will be tracked. Information will be collection from the students that wish to participate such
as demographic and contact information, as well as how comfortable they feel with their English. The
rest of the surveys throughout the course of the semester will be sent via email. Professors will be
making notes of progress or possible problems and at the end of the study they will share how
Facebook impacted ELLs motivation to learn English, if it did at all. Twice a month students will take
a survey that asks them to answer ranging questions from strongly agree to strongly disagree , or
extremely well to not at all well . Other questions may be true or false or ranked one

It was an introductory class on physical chemistry and our chemistry teacher was teaching us the
allotropes of carbon. At the end of the class, he asked us, What do you think makes a small piece of
diamond more precious than tons of charcoal, although they are made up of same carbon atoms? Is it
its appearance? No. It s the pressure that the carbon endured for thousands of years to become a
diamond . A diamond is just a piece of charcoal that handled the pressure well , he quoted. No

Exchange of Information Between Sumer Egypt and India
Civilizations in the past developed many of their own characteristics and traits. New religions were
brought about, as well as cultural behavior. Inventions were created and practices were discovered to
help in daily life. People also fashioned ways to communicate with each other. As these societies grew,
they exchanged much of this knowledge with later civilizations. The people of Sumer, Egypt, and
India had individual beliefs on culture and religion, technology, and language; they exchanged this
knowledge with each other as their civilizations evolved. In the Land between the rivers, known as

The Sumerians feared that humans had little control over daily life which is why they possessed a
strong polytheistic faith. They assumed that there were gods with humanlike emotions for virtually
every occurrence in nature. The sun was a god, as well as the moon and the stars; also, the crops grew
every season because a male god was mating with his goddess wife. The Sumerian society was
divided into four categories based on wealth and power. These were nobles, free clients of the nobility,
commoners, and slaves. Obviously, the nobility controlled the most land and was the dominating force
empowering the other members. The commoners were free citizens who remained literate and without
power, but were independent of the nobles. Slaves may have been foreigners or prisoners of war who
were subject to unfair treatment by their owners, but were allowed to borrow money and engage in
trade. Slaves often bought their freedom. Since the Sumerians were among the first civilizations to
show evidence of writing, this era became known as the Protoliterate period. Their basic form of
writing was referred to as Cuneiform and consisted of pictograms that were formed by wedges pressed
into wet clay. These pictograms later grew into ideograms that depicted thoughts and ideas. For

Comparing Homer s Iliad With Wolfgang Petersen s Film...
In my response I am going to compare Homer s Iliad with Wolfgang Petersen s film Troy. The points I
am going to compare are the fight between Paris and Menelaus, the role of the gods, the death of
Patroclus and the fight between Hector and Achilles. The Iliad is an epic poem consisting of 23 books
by Homer, which focuses on 50 days in the ninth year of the Trojan War, whereas the movie Troy
directed by Wolfgang Petersen tells the whole 10 year story of the myth. The Trojan War happened in
the Bronze Age and was a war between the Mycenaean Greece kingdom and the kingdom of Troy.
Homers Iliad is believed to be one of the first works of western literature and was set 500 years earlier
than the time in which he lived. The Iliad is to be listened to, not read, unless you are the poet
performing the epic. The poet would chant or sing the Iliad while being accompanied by lyre, to help
tell the story. It had a set rhythm and metre in each line of the poem, which the poet had to follow but
it is lost in translation as its original written language is Ancient Greek. The film Troy was released on
the 14th May 2004 and is loosely based on the Iliad. Brad Pitt, who was 40 years old during the
making of this movie, and stars as Achilles. The ending of the film is not from the Iliad but from Virgil
s Aeneid, as the Iliad ends with Hectors death and funeral.

The 1968 Tet Offensive In The Vietnam War
The 1968 Tet Offensive was a series of battles which took place during the Vietnam War where the

Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) and U.S. Forces in South Vietnam. This major offensive by the
Democratic Republic of Vietnam (DRV) forces which were initiated on January 30th of 1968 in
coordination with Tet, the Vietnamese New Year. The offensive is historically labeled as a military
defeat for the DRV forces while ultimately being a strategic victory through it s ability to turn major
American public opinion against support of the war effort in Vietnam. Johnson s decision to halt
escalation after the Tet Offensive marked a crucial turning point in American participation in the

William Blake Research Paper
When we discuss Romantic poetry, William Blake is one of the forerunners of that literary period. His
two major poetical works include Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience. In both of these
collections, there is a poem titled The Chimney Sweeper . In both of these poems, we observe the
innocence of childhood suffering from subjugation to harsh manual work. In the concerned poems,
two perspectives are given. First, the child is innocent and believes in whatever his parents have told
about the magnificence in the eyes of God of those who work. In this manner, Blake portrays the way
the innocence of little children was exploited by their parents for a meager amount of money. Second,
Blake questions and shows skepticism towards the implied hypocrisy of his parents as they sold him
to sweep chimneys and goes themselves to church and pray to God. In this poem, Blake shows that the
child has become aware of the ruthless behavior of his parents, who sold him for money alone. ...

for exploitation and forgery. As the child is innocent, he is willing to believe in any story of angels and
after life. On the one hand, it magnifies the innocence of childhood and on the other hand, it shows the
heartless indifference of the father to his own son. Overall, the villainous character of the father in

The Role Of Dance Therapy For The Lgbt Community Essay
I earned my Bachelor s in Neuroscience from Centenary College of Louisiana, where I graduated with
departmental honors. While in college, I co founded a nonprofit that aimed to provide support for the
transgender community, especially those who were homeless veterans. I led workshops at medical
schools to teach future doctors how to provide comprehensive care to the LGBT community. Through
this grassroots community organizing, I realized current approaches to medicine and research focus on
gender in binary ways that leave out transgender populations. These experiences sparked my passion
in biocultural anthropology and holistic human health. My interest in human biology began when I
worked as a part of a team that investigated dance therapy as a form of treatment for the symptoms of
Parkinson s disease. I conducted interviews in which participants completed quality of life
assessments. I learned about the significance of combining subjective and objective measures of
stress. The main findings were that after months of therapy, patients showed slight improvement in
tremor and gait as well as positive emotional life assessments. As a team member, I collected data and

Creativity And Imagination And Creativity
Creativity is a form of problem solving that needs to be applied in cases in which neither the form of
the solution nor the path to it are clear (Grolier Educational 143). Creativity surrounds everyday life
because it is innovation and ability to learn the unknown. Although creativity and imagination are a
necessity in society, not everyone can be creative . Certain factors play a role in determining whether a
student could be creative; however, these factors could be unpredictable and not completely guarantee
a child s creativeness. Psychologist have created tests that are able to understand creativity better and
study creativeness. Even though results can be inconsistent, patterns have arose that have interested
psychologist trying to determine what factors into creativity. For example, intelligence does seem to
play a role in creativity; however, there is no clear ratio for someone s intelligence to their creativity,
and only a certain amount of intelligence is required to be creative. Studies have proven that that
people with mental illnesses have a higher chance of being creative than someone who does not.
Although, studies have also come to determine that students in a judge free and diverse environment
increased chances of having creativity and imagination. Even though creativity presents a difficult task
of pinning what contributes to the creativity in students, patterns have discovered that having a mental
illness and being exposed to a independent environment

Drones Technology
Technology is constantly getting more impressive, but these technologies need to have limits. One
popular new technology is the drone. Merriam Webster defines drones as unmanned vehicles guided
by remote controls. Advanced drones are used in the military; drones are also used for weather
prediction, landscape mapping, and other uses. In the future, drones could make people s lives easier
and safer, but they could also idea because drones can injure people, spy on people, and be used by
terrorists and criminals. Drones can hurt people. There had been a lot of reports on drones falling on
people. There was a drone crash that hurt a person. There was a protest and a drone cut a man s neck

Theme of The Jungle Essay
In the book The Jungle by Upton Sinclair; this was first published by Fine Creative Media Inc. in 1906
(edition I read was published in 2003) it discuses life as an immigrant and how immigrants foresaw
the American dream and how they tired to achieve it. There where many themes for the book. The
theme that I took was most important was that life on the other side is not always better then what one
has. This theme can be shown many different ways throughout the book. It is shown through the plot
and through many examples of event that occurred though the book. In The Jungle a young man
named Jurgis Rudkus moves to the United States landing in Chicago, with his family looking for a
better life then what they had in Lithuania. They ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the story goes on Ona and her baby Antanas both die. Ona during child birth and Antanas will
drowned in front of the house. Jurgis will then move out of the city to the suburbs leave all of his
family behind. Later returning to Chicago and getting himself into a lot of trouble with the law. After
some time of being in and out of jail Jurgis finally gets a job working at a hotel. He will become back
in touch with his family that he left and begin to support them on what he makes by working at the
hotel. As I read the book I felt more and more sorry for Jurgis and his family. The struggles and
hardships that they went though as well as what other immigrants where going through at the time. I
feel that people during this time where treated very unfairly and when it came to the meat packing
companies I think that the cows pigs had a better life. This is because the animals where fed every day
no matter what because the people that wanted to sell them needed for them to look like that had a lot
of meat on them not just skin and bone. The pay that the people working in these plants made did not
always pay for the rent of their one rat infested room, let alone to put food on the table. Some of the
ways I feel that the workers where treated badly in this book are first when Jurgis notices the speeding

Analysis Of Whale Done By Ken Blanchard
The book, Whale Done, written by Ken Blanchard, exemplifies how a business manager named Wes
Kinsley learns the key to managing relationships while on a trip to SeaWorld. Kinsley uncovers the
secret to managing positive relationships with people by witnessing how trainers at SeaWorld receive
incredible responses from their whales by highlighting their positive behaviour, and ignoring or
redirecting their negative behaviours. In the book, Blanchard contrasts the GOTcha manager, one who
seeks to only accentuate the negative properties of individuals actions with the WHALE DONE
manager, who highlights and tries to reinforce positive behaviour. The goal of Blanchard is for readers
to understand the application of the Whale Done! management ... Show more content on

However, Blanchard fails to discuss the importance of negative responses in communication. Negative
responses are useful in order to keep workers inline and stopping them from breaking rules. It can be
necessary in many situations; however, managers of today still abuse negative responses. There are
examples of modern day managers using negative responses and finding success. For example, John
Tortorella, the head coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets in the National Hockey League has found
success from yelling at players and criticizing them, but he actually went on to win the Stanley Cup in
2004 with the Tampa Bay Lightning, winning the Jacks Adam award for attributing the most to his
teams success. (Cooper, 2015). He is often seen as a villain in the hockey community, but his success
is clearly attributable to his negative responses and negative attitude. This tough relationship he has
with his players must improve their play because he has been a coach on and off in the league since
2001. Blanchard s ideologies clearly go against everything John Tortorella stands for, but there is no
denying his success. This style of management can be successful in some places, and modern
managers have to understand when to apply this style. Clearly Blanchard s methods are successful, but
so are

Probable Cause Trial
So you have broken the law, whether or not you had a warrant for your arrest, or not, and now you
have to stand trial. During this time, you may be wondering what s ahead on your journey to being
found innocent or guilty. There are many different things that you will have to endure, and it may be a
long process. Today, I will be writing about the steps from the time you have your initial appearance
until the time the judge gives the verdict on whether or not you are found guilty. After you have been
arrested, you are then taken in to booking at the police or sheriff s department. This means that the
police simply put you into their system. Once there, you have to give them your basic information,
give fingerprints and a mugshot, go through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You will be told what you are being charged with and you will then give your plea of guilty, not guilty
or no contest. If you plead guilty, you have to explain what you did in detail and why you committed
the crime. If you ever have another trial, this can be used against you at a later time. You may also be
entitled to a plea bargain. A plea bargain is granted, you may get out with a lesser charge than what
you were originally charged with, or a lesser punishment. If you have more than one charge and plead
guilty, the prosecutor may even drop the other charges. If a plea bargain cannot be agreed upon, the
defense and prosecutor will come up with an agreement together and the judge will then have to agree
or disagree with what he or she thinks is best. If you plead not guilty, you will go to a criminal trial.
Then you have the no contest plea, which is kind of admitting to the charge, but not taking any
responsibility for the crime. An example would be getting a speeding ticket for going 55 in a 35 and
pleading no contest in court and getting off with just paying a fine. If you plead no contest once in a
criminal case, you cannot use it

Interesting The sixth week on The Bachelorette turned out to be quite an exciting watch as there was
enough of fun, drama and emotion. It started off with JoJo and the eight guys traveling to Argentina.
Chris announced that things are being switched up this week and there will be a second two on one
date along with a regular one on one and group date. And so, the one on one date began with JoJo
picking Wells and he was clearly asked to kiss her. His date card read: If you don t kiss me on this date

The Consequences Of Prison Recidivism
Improving Prison Reentry and Reducing Recidivism
Recidivism is a social problem that continues year after year. The National Institute of Justice claims
that this is one of the most fundamental concepts in criminal justice. They also provide some statistic.
Within three years of release, about two thirds (67.8 percent) of released prisoners were rearrested.
Within five years of release, about three quarters (76.6 percent) of released prisoners were rearrested.
Of those prisoners who were rearrested, more than half (56.7 percent) were arrested by the end of the
first year. Recidivism is the act of an individual continuing a bad behavior after they have experienced
negative consequences or repercussion from that behavior. In some instances ... Show more content on

This title alone may cause individuals to be over looked for jobs they are qualified for. To help solve
this problem he suggests something called Second Chance Legislation. Based on the nature of the
crime, evidence supports that if an individual has not reoffended or recommitted a crime, enough time
has passed for an individual to learn from there mistake and if they have not commit a crime will not
due so. Heroux suggests expunging their criminal record as if it never happened at all. There are other
things to consider when discussing recidivism. Yes, it s important to note how the issue can be solved,
but it s also important to note why it is happening so often.
Many individuals who have been incarcerated face an addiction, or a mental health issue this addition
could be to intoxicants such as drugs and alcohol, but as mentioned it could also be a mental health
issue. These individuals face stigmas in the community and as a result may not receive the treatment
they need due to embarrassment and shame. As a result of going untreated individuals may turn to
crime time and time again to cope and handle their illness and

Beatriz Milhazes African American Art Style
In this overview, I will be comparing Beatriz Milhazes art to African art. Beatriz Milhazes is from
Brazil; she was born in 1960. She does paintings, prints, and architectural installations (Guggenheim).
Her artwork is mainly geometric figures sort of like kaleidoscope. Most of her work is based on
European and Brazilian art. Henri Matisse, Piet Mondrian, and Talsila do Amaral are three artists that
influenced her to do art (Guggenheim). In the 90 s, Milhaze started doing a method of collaging art
and this became her technique; most of paintings had geometric shapes, floral patterns, and used very
bright colors(Widewalls). African patterns are very different from Milhaze s artwork. African patterns
came from architecture, artifacts, masks and textiles (Contemporary African Art). Most of the patterns
are repetitive, for instance, chevron and zigzag patterns are examples but geometric shapes are also
repetitive. The geometric shapes are used in paintings, print, and many more. The geometric shapes
pattern can be arranged horizontally or vertical. Some African patterns are also found in crafts and
artifacts such as: baskets, jewelry, cravings, blankets, etc. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Milhazes uses Latin America and European in her art work. The way Milhazes represents her art is by
mixing both Latin America and European style by using geometric, fashion, and decorative art
(Widewalls). Most of her art pieces are colorful, all geometric shapes and the shape of lines are close
together and the patterns are not repetitive while African patterns, are in assorted colors and pattern
are arranged orderly. Symbols represents African patterns. Some of symbols that the Africans use to
represent a symbol flowers, seeds, stars etc (Contemporary African Art). There is one similarity
between African patterns and Milhazes art; the single similarity is that the use of geometric shapes in

Fat Pig Heroism
I cannot deny that I am privileged. I m relatively well off financially, I have no disability, I m white,
and I meet conventional beauty standards for the most part. Yet when reading Neil Labute s Fat Pig, I
found myself identifying with both Tom and Helen. As much as I would like to cast off the idea that I
could ever do what Tom does Helen, it seems likely that I have. Yet, I ve also experienced a longing
similar to that of Helen. Which is why I must agree with what Labute says in the preface, Heroism, it
would seem, is a tough gig (xii). Labute acknowledges the fact that his characters aren t always
extremely likable humans, but that s because they are humans. Which is why I cannot deny the
similarities between Tom and myself. Reading ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite the fact that I ve been in situations similar to Tom, that does not mean I can t empathize with
Helen. Helen doesn t seem like the most confident person in the world, but she s working on
becoming confident. She finds a boy who, by societal standards, is way out of her league. She doesn t
feel like she s being treated correctly, yet she still gives him chances. And finally, when he leaves her,
she begs for him to stay. Sadly, I think Helen is a largely relatable character. As a woman, I can
certainly understand the pressure to look a certain way. I don t struggle with the same image issues as
Helen, but I certainly struggle with my appearance. I ve been in relationships where I didn t feel I was
being treated correctly all the time, but sometimes, I would just accept it. Just like Helen, I would give
more chances and hope for a change. In the end, those relationships ended just like Tom and Helen s.
Now, I m grateful for the dissipation of those relationships, but at the time, it hurts. The ending of Fat
Pig was painful to read. When Helen offered to get weight loss surgery, I was so angry and upset, but I
think it really showed her weaknesses. Without that offer, Helen wouldn t be human. Looking beyond
the ending, I think Helen will be okay. I think the end of her relationship with Tom will make her a
stronger person, just like the ending of my bad

The Safety Of Nascar Great Dale Earnhardt
NASCAR is one of the biggest sports in the United States. It is also one of the more dangerous sports.
Within the past 20 years alone we have lost NASCAR great Dale Earnhardt as well as fourth
generation driver Adam Petty to fatal crashes on the track just to name a few. Earnhardt s death came
as he hit the wall going at 160 miles per hour at the 2001 Daytona 500. Petty lost his life in a fatal
crash at the New Hampshire Speedway during a practice run. Petty lost control of his car crashing
head on into the turn three wall. Both of these accidents killed the drivers instantly when they collided
with the wall fracturing their skulls. From these tragedies rose many new safety features such as the
Steel and Foam Energy Reduction (SAFER) barrier and the Head and Neck Support (HANS) device.
But even with all of these safety improvements there still have been drivers injured in crashes. So
what can NASCAR do to further ensure the safety of their drivers? Actually there is a lot that
NASCAR can do and some of it is a lot simpler then what we have anticipated. After Kyle Busch
broke his leg in a wreck at Daytona in February of 2015. NASCAR talked about increasing the
amount of SAFER barrier walls on the track. Instead of having the SAFER barrier in only the corners
of the tracks NASCAR has started to talk about putting it on every wall even in the infield of the track.
Also they have considered getting rid of the grass around the track simply because when drivers are

Introduction
Lapis Philosophorum, the elixir of life, the white stone by the river, or drinkable gold The Philosopher
s Stone is a legendary material, purportedly capable of turning cheap metals into gold, curing any
illness, and bestowing immortality. The pursuit of its creation was nearly synonymous with alchemy
for centuries and it was out of these attempts that modern science was born. How did the stone
become an alchemical obsession and why was its creation ultimately abandoned? How has the stone

Powers of the Stone
The first great allure of the Philosopher s Stone is the power to change common metals into gold. The
secret of infinite wealth would explain why those who sought it shrouded their research in mystery.
The second supreme power of the stone was its ability to cure illness and extend lifespan. All
infirmities might be cured, human life prolonged to its utmost limits, and mankind preserved in health
and strength of body and mind, clearness and vigour. All wounds are healed by it without difficulty,
and it is the best and surest remedy against poisons Whether or not it could bestow immortality was

  • 2. Essay Significance of the Number 3 in Fairy Tales Significance of the Number 3 in Fairy Tales Numbers do not exist. They are creations of the mind, existing only in the realm of understanding. No one has ever touched a number, nor would it be possible to do so. You may sketch a symbol on a paper that represents a number, but that symbol is not the number itself. A number is just understood. Nevertheless, numbers hold symbolic meaning. Have you ever asked yourself serious questions about the significance, implications, and roles of numbers? For example, Why does the number ten denote a change to double digits? Is zero a number or a non number? Or, the matter this paper will address: Why does the number three hold an understood and symbolic importance? My interest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, I offer what I call the Utility Based Approach, which attempts to explain the prominence of three by noting its usefulness in telling fairy tales. Indeed, the Utility Based Approach proposes that three, being the smallest possible number that denotes a group, is a useful entity when recalling a tale whose audience is assumed to either (1) desire mental relaxation, or (2) lack advanced/complex mental capabilities. Background/Historical Context Three has a logical reason for its important role throughout history. It is not merely the number that happens to fall between two and four. Three is the union of oneness and duality. It is the first number that is a combination of various previous numbers (assuming, as most societies have done, that zero is not a number). One and two are special as they are representations of oneness and otherness , but three starts the procession of all other numbers to follow (the set of numbers, 3 infinity, that can be the sum of a variety of previous numbers) (Symbolism). Whether this is realized consciously or subconsciously, it is an undeniable truth that seems hard to avoid. Indeed, this idea could be what gave rise to the spiritual significance of three. Three has always played an important part in the Judeo/Christian beliefs, as Ken Bassett outlines in his Pastor Note No. 138. First, and probably most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In paragraph four it says It s an quest that provides a sense of achievement (Source 1). • 8. Reflection Paper On Grandmother My grandmother has been a very important person throughout my life. My entire childhood was spent with her, and we grew older together. Since we spent so much time with one another, it was inevitable for me to always get stuck hearing her stories about the good ol days and the stories that always started with back in my time . Just as any teenager would do, I tuned these stories out and replied with a laugh at the end. Looking back now, I wish that I had paid more attention to those stories that defined my grandmother and made her who she is today. Fortunately, I have been given the opportunity to go back in time with her and let her reminisce and share those stories once again while I listen full heartedly. To begin the discussion, I asked her to share her childhood with me and how it was like growing up in her time. She told me memories she had with her family, her favorite hobbies, and how different the school system was back then. After we explored every aspect of her life in the past, we delved into the present to discuss how the aging process has had an impact on her. My grandmother s attitude towards anything is very optimistic, so I would only expect it to be the same for this process. She states that she sees growing older as her opportunity to do as much as she can and whatever she wants. By keeping this positive outlook on life, it allows her to stay mentally and physically younger. At the age of 65, she experienced a ruptured brain aneurysm, and I presume her outlook on life changed dramatically because of this. She was given a second chance at life, and she could not be more thankful for that. Given this opportunity, she does not take anything for granted and is just lucky to be living. This is what keeps her going. Attitude is everything, she says smiling. On the other hand, she has seen the other side of the aging process. Her husband is quite a bit older than she is, and his health has been declining rapidly. By seeing his aging process not be successful and as optimal as hers, she does have a slightly negative attitude regarding it at times. After suffering a major heart attack, his cognition and physical abilities have declined, and his attitude is very negative. Due to this, her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. The Teachings Of Muhammad, Siddhartha Gautama ( The Buddha... Muhammad, Siddhartha Gautama (the Buddha), and Jesus Christ were extremely influential leaders and were all the keys to establishing three of the major religions today; Islam, Buddhism and Christianity. These religions are currently the largest religions in the world and influence billions of people every day. All three of these men have shaped the course of history and redefined the destiny of mankind. They all lived very interesting lives and preached different lessons to their followers. I would like to start this essay by first looking into the history of each of these men and later comparing and contrasting the way they lived their lives as well as their teachings. Muhammad was born in the year 570 A.D. in the city of Mecca, located now in what is known as Saudi Arabia. His father, Abdullah died before he was born and his mother, Amina passed away when Muhammad was around five or six years old. He was then brought up by his grandfather, Abdul Muttalib, who treated him with the utmost love. Two years passed before his grandfather also passed away and Muhammad was left in the care of his uncle, Abu Talib and his wife, Fatima. They treated him just as well if not better than their own children. The love they had for the young boy was matched by no one. As Muhammad got older, he became known as a very trust worthy, noble and kind man. When Muhammad was twenty five years old, he became a trading agent for a wealthy, noble lady by the name of Khadija. Törrönen (2013) states that in the 1900s women who drink were seen as sexual models, which meant women got spend their own freedom, got to enjoy how they look and having their sexual side shown. Women were able to show more pride in advertisements. Alcohol was seen as a beverage that kept the human relaxed and satisfying. Society saw alcohol as a rich people s beverage, it was seen as classy. Women were dressed classy, as career women in some advertisements, and they were holding a glass of alcohol (p.654). Which means change in alcohol advertisements happened in the 1900s, where women were seen more in alcohol advertisements. Looking at the Bud light image, it relates to the article because in present day advertisements women get to express themselves more and they can show off their bodies. In the Bud light image shown, the woman appears to have an athletic body, she is holding a soccer ball. Looking at the top right side you could see that it is for the FIFA world cup advertisement for America. The main target of the advertisement would probably be the people watching the game either in a bar or a game where they could enjoy that bud light drink. Törrönen (2013) Explains how back in the day women would not be seen in advertisements showing half their body, where they were keeping it traditional (p.644). Now, when looking at the image there is huge change in society, the women in the Bud light image is expressing herself and the body she has made by working out, it also allows the audience to see how women attracts men to sports, by having these advertisements it gives men pleasure to drink the beer. Starting with the organizational structure of the NHS, it is basically an umbrella organization that comprises of four regional branches, in particular, NHS (England), NHS Scotland, Health and Social Care in Northern Ireland and NHS Wales. The financing for all these institutions comes from a universal source, particularly the tax payer money of residents of UK, although they operate to an extent as self governing institutions. The treasury allocates money to the department of Health, which in turn allocates money to NHS England (Understanding the new NHS). In other words, the top executives of these four institutions take decisions independently for day to day operations although they abide by broader governing directives applicable to the UK region as a whole. As these societies grew, they exchanged much of this knowledge with later civilizations. The Sumerian society was divided into four categories based on wealth and power. These were nobles, free clients of the nobility, commoners, and slaves. Obviously, the nobility controlled the most land and was the dominating force empowering the other members. The commoners were free citizens who remained literate and without power, but were independent of the nobles. • 18. Comparing Homer s Iliad With Wolfgang Petersen s Film... In my response I am going to compare Homer s Iliad with Wolfgang Petersen s film Troy. The points I am going to compare are the fight between Paris and Menelaus, the role of the gods, the death of Patroclus and the fight between Hector and Achilles. The Iliad is an epic poem consisting of 23 books by Homer, which focuses on 50 days in the ninth year of the Trojan War, whereas the movie Troy directed by Wolfgang Petersen tells the whole 10 year story of the myth. The Trojan War happened in the Bronze Age and was a war between the Mycenaean Greece kingdom and the kingdom of Troy. Homers Iliad is believed to be one of the first works of western literature and was set 500 years earlier than the time in which he lived. The Iliad is to be listened to, not read, unless you are the poet performing the epic. The poet would chant or sing the Iliad while being accompanied by lyre, to help tell the story. It had a set rhythm and metre in each line of the poem, which the poet had to follow but it is lost in translation as its original written language is Ancient Greek. The film Troy was released on the 14th May 2004 and is loosely based on the Iliad. Brad Pitt, who was 40 years old during the making of this movie, and stars as Achilles. The ending of the film is not from the Iliad but from Virgil s Aeneid, as the Iliad ends with Hectors death and funeral. In both of these poems, we observe the innocence of childhood suffering from subjugation to harsh manual work. In the concerned poems, two perspectives are given. First, the child is innocent and believes in whatever his parents have told about the magnificence in the eyes of God of those who work. In this manner, Blake portrays the way the innocence of little children was exploited by their parents for a meager amount of money. Second, Blake questions and shows skepticism towards the implied hypocrisy of his parents as they sold him to sweep chimneys and goes themselves to church and pray to God. In this poem, Blake shows that the child has become aware of the ruthless behavior of his parents, who sold him for money alone. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The father exploits the innocence of the child, sells him in chimney business, and consoles him hypocritically with religious stories. Apart from the fact that this description throws light on the sensibility of those times in which Blake wrote, it also shows the aspect of religion which is employed for exploitation and forgery. As the child is innocent, he is willing to believe in any story of angels and after life. On the one hand, it magnifies the innocence of childhood and on the other hand, it shows the heartless indifference of the father to his own son. While in college, I co founded a nonprofit that aimed to provide support for the transgender community, especially those who were homeless veterans. I led workshops at medical schools to teach future doctors how to provide comprehensive care to the LGBT community. Through this grassroots community organizing, I realized current approaches to medicine and research focus on gender in binary ways that leave out transgender populations. These experiences sparked my passion in biocultural anthropology and holistic human health. My interest in human biology began when I worked as a part of a team that investigated dance therapy as a form of treatment for the symptoms of Parkinson s disease. I conducted interviews in which participants completed quality of life assessments. I learned about the significance of combining subjective and objective measures of stress. The main findings were that after months of therapy, patients showed slight improvement in tremor and gait as well as positive emotional life assessments. As a team member, I collected data and presented research at the Society for Neuroscience. Most research on Parkinson s focuses on cellular mechanisms in brain functioning instead of treating symptoms as a product of environment. • 23. Creativity And Imagination And Creativity Creativity is a form of problem solving that needs to be applied in cases in which neither the form of the solution nor the path to it are clear (Grolier Educational 143). Creativity surrounds everyday life because it is innovation and ability to learn the unknown. Although creativity and imagination are a necessity in society, not everyone can be creative . Certain factors play a role in determining whether a student could be creative; however, these factors could be unpredictable and not completely guarantee a child s creativeness. Psychologist have created tests that are able to understand creativity better and study creativeness. Even though results can be inconsistent, patterns have arose that have interested psychologist trying to determine what factors into creativity. For example, intelligence does seem to play a role in creativity; however, there is no clear ratio for someone s intelligence to their creativity, and only a certain amount of intelligence is required to be creative. Studies have proven that that people with mental illnesses have a higher chance of being creative than someone who does not. Although, studies have also come to determine that students in a judge free and diverse environment increased chances of having creativity and imagination. Even though creativity presents a difficult task of pinning what contributes to the creativity in students, patterns have discovered that having a mental illness and being exposed to a independent environment ... Theme of The Jungle Essay In the book The Jungle by Upton Sinclair; this was first published by Fine Creative Media Inc. in 1906 (edition I read was published in 2003) it discuses life as an immigrant and how immigrants foresaw the American dream and how they tired to achieve it. There where many themes for the book. The theme that I took was most important was that life on the other side is not always better then what one has. This theme can be shown many different ways throughout the book. It is shown through the plot and through many examples of event that occurred though the book. However, Blanchard fails to discuss the importance of negative responses in communication. Negative responses are useful in order to keep workers inline and stopping them from breaking rules. It can be necessary in many situations; however, managers of today still abuse negative responses. There are examples of modern day managers using negative responses and finding success. For example, John Tortorella, the head coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets in the National Hockey League has found success from yelling at players and criticizing them, but he actually went on to win the Stanley Cup in 2004 with the Tampa Bay Lightning, winning the Jacks Adam award for attributing the most to his teams success. (Cooper, 2015). He is often seen as a villain in the hockey community, but his success is clearly attributable to his negative responses and negative attitude. This tough relationship he has with his players must improve their play because he has been a coach on and off in the league since 2001. Blanchard s ideologies clearly go against everything John Tortorella stands for, but there is no denying his success. Within the past 20 years alone we have lost NASCAR great Dale Earnhardt as well as fourth generation driver Adam Petty to fatal crashes on the track just to name a few. Earnhardt s death came as he hit the wall going at 160 miles per hour at the 2001 Daytona 500. Petty lost his life in a fatal crash at the New Hampshire Speedway during a practice run. Petty lost control of his car crashing head on into the turn three wall. Both of these accidents killed the drivers instantly when they collided with the wall fracturing their skulls.
