Buzz Lightyear s To Infinity And Beyond
To Infinity and Beyond! is Buzz Lightyear s famous catchphrase in the Toy Story films and the
standard definition is Without limits, limitless, sky s the limit but, hidden in this phrase is a deeper
philosophical meaning. Dr. Kent A. Bessey wrote about how the German mathematician Georg Cantor
published papers that explained the aspects of infinity and was set on figuring out as much as he could
about the limits of infinity. With his tenacity it led Cantor to discover a realm of infinity that no other
mathematician was able to discover. Bessy states that Cantor discovered, a remarkable realm where
half of a pie is as large as the whole infinity comes in all different sizes, and miracles become
mathematically plausible. Cantor would come

Mrs Bennet Satire
Bakhtin believes the reason behind the satire especially in the case of Mrs. Bennet is because,
Stupidity in the novel is always polemical: it interacts dialogically with an intelligence... (Bakhtin
403). In other words, because of the mindlessness of Mrs. Bennet the reader can contrast her behavior
towards her oldest daughters. The reasoning behind this is for people to question Mrs. Bennet s
behavior but also to exaggerate how a woman is supposed to behave. Additionally, during this time,
there were some women who on purpose would act anxious similarly to Mrs. Bennet but not as
exaggerated. The idea behind acting anxious goes back to the concept that it was a patriarchal society,
so women were second class citizens and were fragile creatures. ... Show more content on

Bennet s overexaggerated behavior to show how the patriarchal society governed over the life of
women. In this case, Mrs. Bennet s tried to get her daughters to get married to Mr. Collin simply, so
the inheritance would at least go one of her kids instead of women Mr. Collin decides to marry.
Though since Mrs. Bennet s daughter Jane is almost engaged to Mr. Bingley the only other option for
Mr. Collin to marry would be Elizabeth since her other siblings are much too young to marry. Ergo,
Mrs. Bennet tries to influence his decision by mentioning that she is easy going and fairly pretty but is
later on outraged when Charlotte will be the one who marries him since Elizabeth rejects him. In the
book, she mentions, I should be forced to make way for her and live to see her take my place in it!
(Austen 130). By her comment it shows how frustrated Mrs. Bennet was knowing that Charlotte
Lucas, Elizabeth s friend, will be the one who inherit the land. Though it also indirectly portrays how
Mrs. Bennet was also frustrated with society since as already mentioned women had no rights since
they were considered fragile and simply stayed at home worrying about house affairs. These notions in
mind led for women during this time to not able to own their property and limited their rights to
simple household

High Quality Data Quality Analysis
3.1 Introduction
High quality data facilitate a precise analysis and the resulting statistics. Hence, high quality data
assist the organization to increase its business value. This chapter demonstrates the concept of data
quality, the effects of inaccurate data, and the factors that cause low quality data.
3.2 Data Quality
The executive and the top management in organizations seek comprehensive reports and dashboards
to enable them to understand on going processes and facilitate the decision making that improves their
business. However, the decision making process may be influenced by various factors. Data quality is
a critical factor because when the quality of the data is inferior, poor decisions could be made [39]. In
addition, data ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hence, several parties share the responsibility for the quality of data. In addition, J. E. Olson (2003)
observed that the poor data quality resulted from the rapid growth of information system technology
and the prompt evolution in system implementation and frequent changes that complicate and hamper
the quality control process [44]. According to C. Boulton (2016), 57.5% of poor data are caused by
users, followed by 47% caused by data migration and integration, which usually lead to gaps or
duplicate information, and 43.5% caused by changes to source systems (Figure 5) [45].
Figure 5: Causes of poor data quality [45]
Jack E. Olson (2003) defined data quality as data that are linked to their fit for use. In other words,
high data quality is obtained when the data fulfill the requirements and the criteria of its intended
usage. In contrast, poor quality results when the data do not fulfil their requirements [44].
3.3 Dimensions of Data Quality
In previous research, data quality was divided into two main categories: intrinsic and contextual. In
the intrinsic category, value resides within the data, which refers to objective attributes. In the
contextual category, the attributes of the data mainly depend on the context in which the data are
present, used, as well as the situation or problem. Data in the contextual category include the
dimensions of relevance and believability [39],

The Next Generation Analysis
This week we jumped into the Renaissance. The ground work for understanding the time period was
set with the initial discussion about the influences of humanism, the Reformation, and the relative
peace of the time. All of these aspects aided in allowing musicians and musical traditions mingle. In
the early 15th century there is a rise to prominence by the English, but also this mixing. The English
had a liking for using thirds and sixths in their music, something that came to be called contenance
angloise . This mixed in with the French preference for rhythmic complexity and forms, and the Italian
florid melodic writing, to create this new international style. The composers associated with this time
period are John Dunstable, Gilles Binchois, and Guillaume Du Fay. In the next generation (1450
1490), there is a greater use of imitation, wider ranges, more equality among the voices, minor
prolations, and longer phrases. There was only one composer who we studied, Antoine Busnoys. In
the next, next generation (1490 ), there is a breakaway from formes fixe , the structure of works being
based on the text, and greater equality of voices to the point where each phrase is composed with all
the voices in mind. The composers associated with this time period are Jacob Obrecht, Heinrich Isaac,
and Josquin de Prez. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

uses a line in the middle line with two voices on top and bottom improvising, while the latter uses the

the motet: a polyphonic setting of latin text other than the mass cycle and the polyphonic setting of
sacred text in another

New Imperialism Analysis
The New Imperialism was centered on nationalism, social Darwinism, and economic expansion. The
colonizers of the time were focused on only improving the state of their own countries and never even
paid attention to what the indigenous peoples were forced to do. All they wanted was influence and
power. On the other hand, the colonized had no control over the situation. They had no power to fight
back against the countries taking them over, and they were forced to change their way of life to the
ways of the white man. Rhodes was a perfect example of one of those colonizers, he believed that the
English were the most superior race and that the world would be better if the English took over. This
is a completely nationalistic view of

Critical Analysis of Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress
During the period right before the Cultural Revolution began the country of China was in the middle
of a peasant revolt. There had been many things plaguing the country, especially an economic crisis.
According to Singh (1968), this was a very important moment in the country s history, because in such
a short time frame the revolution brought created tremendous changes in the political, social and
cultural life of the Chinese people. The book Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress explores both
the historical and cultural context of China and the people, who lived in China during that time period.
The purpose of this paper is to examine the historical and social context of the story as it relates to
China s Cultural Revolution. In the book the un named protagonist and Luo are bourgeois doctors
sons; they are forced by the government to live in a remote mountain village to be re educated by the
local peasants. One of the main purposes of the Cultural Revolution was to attempt to strip as many
urban Chinese people of what the government considered to be bourgeois values, as possible. The
term bourgeois values is used to refer to middle class people who give importance to status,
possessions, and capitalism above all else. Furthermore, the term bourgeois was often associated with
western values in China during that time period, which was in stark contrast to

Hba1c s Role In Diabetic Analysis
Glycated haemoglobin is a measure of blood glucose levels over the previous 120 days and reflects
the time averaged blood glucose over the preceding 1 3 months, depending on the rate of change of
blood glucose levels. HbA1c, or glycosylated haemoglobin, is formed through the non enzymatic
binding of circulating glucose to haemoglobin (glycation). HbA1c is measured as the ratio of
glycosylated to non glycosylated haemoglobin (Sacks et al, 2002). Higher levels of glucose in the
blood contribute to more binding and consequent higher levels of glycosylated haemoglobin.
Glycation occurs over the entire 90 120 day life span of the red blood cell. HbA1c can consequently
be interpreted as an average of the blood glucose present over the past 3 4 months. Measurement of

Association 2003 does not currently recommend HbA1c measurement for the diagnosis of diabetes,

East Coast Bloods Research Paper
The most commonly known gang in the area are the Bloods. According to many of the detectives in
the office, they are the most vicious and most violent gangs they have ever encountered. State versus
Gillens and Mercer are one of those encounters. The Bloods, or the United Blood Nation, was
developed around 1972. The Crips were dominating the streets of L.A. and were battling with multiple
street gangs. After a rumble with the street gang Pirus and murdering an L.A. Brim, the street gangs
had enough of the Crip s intimidation. They decided to unite all the street gangs which consisted of the
Piru Street Boys in Compton, L.A. Brim, the Pueblos, the Bishops, Athens Park Boys, and the Denver
Lanes. Soon enough they called their new gang the Bloods and took on the color red to show their
opposition against the Crips (Savelli, 2002). In 1993, the Bloods made their way over to the East
Coast and developed within the New York City jail system on Riker s Island George Mochen
Detention Center. It was formed as a means of protection for African American inmates from the Latin
Kings (Savelli, 2002). Soon enough, the East Coast Bloods flooded out of the jail system and onto the
streets of New York and New Jersey. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Mercer and his posse were set on fighting Shackleford and Shackleford refused because he was with
his family. When Shackleford left the store, he was approached by a man wearing red, Daniel Gillens,

Health Education Resource Critique
The use of creditable and appropriate resources is important for educators because all internet should
be adept at critically evaluating information (Rankin, Stallings London, 2005, p.380). To ensure that
information is unbiased, accurate, and up to date and clear to the reader the educator should evaluate
each resource that is going to be used (Rankin, et al., 2005, p. 280). Muscular dystrophy is a group of

Firearms In The United States
Firearms should not be banned in the United States because it would deny people their rights, deny
citizens a form of self defense, prevent use for sports such as hunting and marksmanship, and give
exclusive firearm access to criminals. Many gun control activists out there think that guns need to be
banned completely from civilian use. While guns may need to be controlled a bit for public safety,
banning them would not help anything. The main reason reason this isn t something to be put into
legislation is because it s completely unconstitutional. The second amendment of the constitution
gives all citizens the individual right to bear firearms. In the Supreme Court case District of Columbia

Enemy Within, Enemy Without By Anna Magnani
Enemy Within, Enemy Without
Anna Magnani stars as a resourceful working class Roman mother trying to overcome her unfortunate
past to give a better life to her children, even as outside threats threaten everything she has worked so
hard to build. This vague framework could easily describe both Roberto Rossellini s neorealist war
drama Rome, Open City and Pier Paolo Pasolini s irreverent rebuke Mamma Roma. Rome, Open City
concerns itself with the devastation the Italian people faced at the hands of their German occupiers
and their collaborators, the titular city and its inhabitants crumbling away in both body and spirit over
the course of a cruel winter. In their city s darkest hour, average citizens rise up to become heroes and

In the first place, it has the wind blown look of a film shot from actualities, with the camera
providentially on the scene. The stringent necessity for economy compelled the producers to make a

Crudely shot on discarded US Signal Corps film whenever Rosellini could throw together the money
to pay for further filming, the film s bleak visuals become a character in and of themselves, bracingly
authentic despite their complete absence of polish. Much like the characters themselves, the film is
quite admirable despite being unrefined and without the proper resources to express itself.
By the time Pier Paolo Pasolini wrote the script for Mamma Roma in 1962, Rome had undergone
quite the dramatic makeover. Reaping the benefits from American investment and the creation of the
European Common Market, Italians saw their standard living rise to never before seen heights. As

Paradigmatic Shift Of System Theory Essay
The paradigmatic shift of system theory is the evolution of systematic thinking which is made up of
two systems; the simple cybernetics (first order) and cybernetics of cybernetics (second order). The
first system of the cybernetics also known as the simple cybernetics is the level in which we view
lives from a perspective in which we observe from a different aspect of the outside view. I feel as
though when it comes to the first order cybernetics, everything such as the personal view becomes
irrelevant to the situation because our focus is on describing what is happening from a different
pattern. As for the second order also known the cybernetics of cybernetics transform our view where
we are no longer viewing from the outside looking in. In the system, we are now observing the
situation from a standpoint which we are involved. In the book, I have acknowledged that it is best to
view things that I can observe from the outside looking in and also being and participate in a situation
which set my viewpoint than how others view certain situations. In my opinion, in most cases as
humans, individuals go through different phases in their lives to learn, and to experience a different
perspective when it comes, a prospect of our lives. When the book talks about the system
theory/cybernetics it is a little frustrating to comprehend from my understanding and how to connect
the theory to a real life situation. As I continue to read I m trying to think how I would connect the

Housing Market Drives out of Economic Recession
When researching past economic recoveries, the housing market is the one to drive the economy out
of recession. That being said, this economic recession hasn t had much of an impact until recently.
America s housing boom had a tremendous influence on the economy for its low prices and flow of
new home construction.
The new construction market in the mid 2000 s was flourishing. People saw building a home as an
opportunity for a solid investment because prices and rates were so low that certain homes could
depreciate extremely slowly. However, there would be a negative effect from all this low cost new
construction and few were aware of just how devastating it would be to the new construction market.
In 2005, the market was flooded with a vast array of homes that were all selling at a low price, and
this allowed people to buy and sell homes with minimal effort. Banks were being reckless with their
lending, not giving enough attention to who they were giving mortgages to, as virtually anybody with
a decent credit score could go to a bank and get a mortgage, sometimes without even going to see if
the land and ability for development was there. This created a housing bubble in 2006, and would
inevitably come back to hurt a wide range of industries, but few were as damaged as the new
construction industry.
Once things started to get bad, they got really bad for a lot of families who were given mortgages, who
were not properly qualified. There was a major spike in defaults, with

Evolution Of Divorce And The Consequences It Has On Todays...
For my research project, I would like to explore the evolution of divorce/marriage and the
consequences it has on todays society. In todays society the definition of family has dramatically
changed, both by structure and by definition. Divorce is now the norm. Today in the United States it is
believed that the divorce rate hovers at about 50% and that one of every six adults divorces two or
more times. Why has this become normal, and what can we do to fix this? I believe that by taking a
step back and focusing on marriage, and really knowing who your marrying, we could see a
significant drop in divorce and the problems developing in each generation. Divorce is never
something to be taken lightly. In this paper I will examine the unfolding of divorce and how it evolved
into what it is today, therefore shed some light on possibilities to undercut the still rising divorce rate.
While I go through this paper I will give you a complete background on the former marriage regime
and how divorce was in the past vs now. While divorce is helpful for some people it can also be a
difficult and painful process for others. My goal is to not come off as one sided but to really educate
you on the background of marriage and divorce and hopefully learn from our past mistakes. My
position is that we need to understand the effects and the consequences of divorce so we can
reevaluate how we view and define divorce, and therefore marriage. How has divorce revolutionized,
what can we do to fix

With that many users and activity it not surprising that Instagram is been used daily by savvy

content you post. You can use either existing hashtags that your community is already using to reach
more people or even create new hashtags that could benefit your overall social media strategy.
8. Make use of brand specific hashtags it is a good idea to make a hashtag from your business name.
Also, using unique tags for specific marketing campaigns you run. For instance, if you are running a
photo contest on Instagram, make a unique tag just for that campaign. This hashtag promotes not only
your contest but allows other Instagram users to connect with other participants in the competition
Here is how Coca Cola recently used a specific hashtag to engage with their instagram community.

Management Philosophy Comparison Management aims to accomplish group purposes with the least
expenditure of material or human resources (Koontz, 1969, p. 415). The term management philosophy
seems almost oxymoronic in that they appear to work toward different results. The goal of
management should be to improve the organization. (Kirkeby, 2000) suggest that the objective of
management has always been the goal of making the group, institution, organization, or nation, into
the strongest organism possible. Triumph, subjugation, gaining strength, and survival are all priorities

Scientific Management. Frederick W. Taylor born on March 20, 1865 considered the father of
Scientific Management . He strongly campaigned for less human interaction and more machine driven
production, even going on to say In the past the man has been first; in the future the system must be
first (Worthy, 1959, p. 73). One of the driving factors for Taylor s scientific management was that he
believed the industrial management of his day was run by individuals that had no professional
amplitude Deming suggested that management could be formulated as an academic discipline, and
that the best results would come from the partnership between a trained and qualified management and
a cooperative and innovative workforce (Weisbord, 1987, p. 9). Taylorism became the first big
management fad. Taylor s scientific management consisted of four principles (Weisbord, 1987): 1.
Replace rule of thumb work methods with methods based on a scientific study of the tasks. 2.
Scientifically select, train, and develop each employee rather than passively leaving them to train
themselves. 3. Provide detailed instruction and supervision of each worker in the performance of that
worker s discrete task. 4. Divide work equally between managers and workers, so that the managers
apply scientific management principles to planning the work and the workers

Puerto Rico s Identity Formation Under U.S. Colonial Rule...
Puerto Rico s Identity Formation Under U.S. Colonial Rule
Upon continuing the discussion of what it means to be Puerto Rican, it is clear that the early US
colonial rule fundamentally shaped the character of this definition. At the conclusion of the Spanish
American War, Puerto Rico became a possession of the United States subject only to the privileges
that the US was willing to grant it. The dichotomy between Puerto Rico s expectations and what it
actually became after 1898, helped to formulate elite definitions of what it meant to be Puerto Rican.
This new Puerto Rican identity, which was in large part based upon historical myths, served as defense
mechanisms to combat the elite s dissatisfaction with the new political, social and ... Show more

This US expectation for what Puerto Rico would become after 1898 first manifested itself in the
Foraker Act (1900 1917) and later the Jones Act (1917 1950). Although the Jones Act would extend
US citizenship to the Puerto Ricans whom desired it, it was merely a form of citizenship without
rights (58). The Puerto Rican Senate and House of Representatives were severely limited by President
s line item veto and the fact that they still remained under the absolute jurisdiction of the Constitution.
Such limitations against the Puerto Rican people seemed very reasonable to the US colonizers given
the fact that they were faced with the responsibility of preparing a politically immature people to
someday achieve self government.
This responsibility is portrayed well upon examination of Puerto Rico through the Library of Congress
photo exhibit entitled Touring Turn of the Century America Photographs from the Detroit Publishing
Company, 1880 1920. The photo entitled On the Military Road, Puerto Rico (c. 1903) and The

thick, and mysterious jungle in order to find Puerto Rican society. In contrast to the depiction of

Understanding that the poverty of black Americans did not just stay within the home is a big step in
understanding urban poverty. Urban poverty reached outside the home, into the parks, schools and
playgrounds. With poverties reach being that extensive, there was something other than adversity
causing this. Louis Gates wrote an article about this called Black America and The Class Divide. (Jr.)
The main argument that Louis Gates was making in his article was the divide within the social and
economic classes here in America. He was explaining the gap between the classes. He is using
examples from both the past and the present to validate his argument. He was putting most of the

Layoffs brought much saving, but new positions post was added later, which added more jobs,
meaning more government spending. Debt of Toronto has been rising, and the interest payments on
debt have placed a huge burden on the operating of the city. Unifying wages, which means paying the
same salary to employees of six local municipalities for the same work, increased salary costs. As for
financing issues, in 2003, Toronto did not gain any fund neither from the federal government, nor gain
the fund from the provincial government, that is even fewer than 38 big cities in united
states(Schwartz,2009,p.487).The ability to raise revenue of Toronto is governed by Ontario s
municipal law, and provincial and federal municipalities are reluctant to provide additional financial
assistance. However, most of the 38 big cities in the united states have the legal right to use sales taxes
and income taxes of city hall, and are greatly assisted by the state and federal governments
(Schwartz,2009, p.487). Capital expenditures in Toronto mainly include the construction of public
facilities, environmental maintenance and the service capital assets required for enterprises and
individuals. More importantly, a largely number of infrastructures should be provided and maintained
for more people in this new city. In 2004, the government received more funding from the provincial
government in order to meet its infrastructure needs, which, however, causes a substantial increase in

Analysis Of The Article Detroit Bankruptcy Filing Sent...
Detroit s bankruptcy filing sent a cold chill down my back as I read the article. Detroit is the largest
city in the United States to file for bankruptcy ever. Although Detroit might be the largest city ever to
file for bankruptcy, it is definitely not the only city to file for Chapter 9. Other cities that join Detroit
on the Chapter 9 list would include Jefferson, AL; Stockton, CA; Harrisburg, PA; San Bernardino,
CA; Mammoth Lakes, CA; Central Falls, RI and Boise County, ID. Between these eight broke cities
Mammoth Lakes, Harrisburg and Boise County were amongst those that were dismissed. The Chapter
9 list of cities has racked up billions of dollars cumulatively in liabilities which has resulted in the
citizens requests for relief ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is the federal government s duty to take action on behalf of the state and its people. History has
shown us when the federal government does not take affirmative action and assure the people matters
are in order; people become frantic, hence the 1920 s stock market crash. According to the Wall Street
Journal, the federal government should not be held accountable for everything. In their views, the
current level of expectation regarding the federal government is extremely unrealistic. It is only fair to
agree with the Wall Street Journal. The people should realize that the federal government cannot
supervise every aspect of government or the citizens or each individual. The federal government
should not feel obligated nor should they provide funding to any cities to preserve them from going
into bankruptcy. Unless the federal government is a direct contributor, the government should not be
held responsible to bail out any city and I believe the idea alone is very detrimental to the current
economy. At this very moment the United States total national deficit currently stands at
$16,787,451,118,147. Opening the door for bailouts is comparable to opening Pandora s Box, a very
dangerous thing for our economy and for our children s futures. I do expect the federal government to
step in, formulate a plan, and seek ways to get the city out of debt;

Salisbury Sage Diner s Character Analysis
I had just turned ten when my mom first took me to the Salisbury Chess Club. The dilapidated Sage
Diner dressed as if it were in the 50s (Absolute), I was immediately enamored by the chess pieces.
Soon, I established a reputation for myself as a capricious, impatient tactician able to beat all but the
most experienced players. I played with one of the better players, Phil (Appositive), almost every
week. Through those games, I learned many values, like patience and carefulness, that not only apply
to chess but also to life. One late Autumn Wednesday night, after my mom and I had just settled in the
Sage Diner (Preposition), I noticed that there were only a few players. Two of them had already began
a game, so I asked Phil for a chess game.

Hot Suvs Case Study
( removed HTML ) A 2017 WAPA Rally first look at Dodge s hot SUV. ( removed HTML ) High end
performance SUVs are nothing new. In the early 1990s, the GMC Typhoon lifted the fun quotient
considerably by delivering a turbocharged 4.3 liter V6 engine, Garrett intercooler, BorgWarner
transfer case, and a self leveling rear suspension. It rivaled the performance of top sports car models of
that era, including the Corvette. After the briefest of production runs, the Tycoon and the similar
Chevrolet Blazer SS were canceled. Fast forward a decade and Porsche gave us the Cayenne, the first
SUV from this benchmark setting luxury sports car brand. If you hated the thought of Porsche adding

earlier this month. It was one of the last vehicles we drove for the day, so we managed to get in a little
extra time with it. Suffice to say, that the brief spin wasn t nearly enough. Furthermore, with local
police eager to hand out tickets, we had to take extra care not to draw excess attention to what we

The Kyoto Protocol In Canada
On December 15, 2011, the Government of Canada authoritatively told the United Nations
Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) that Canada would practice its legitimate
right to formally pull back from the Kyoto Protocol. The Environment Minister, Peter Kent, was the
one who announced this. The Kyoto Protocol is an international agreement connected to the UNFCCC
that sets internationally binding greenhouse gas reduction targets for each country that is in the
agreement. There are a lot of benefits as to why Canada should stay in the agreement, but at the same
time there are a few complications and setbacks that we will have to face as well. Canada will reduce

The UNFCCC should implement better ways for all nations to eventually fall under the 1990
emissions levels. Working slowly towards the goal is a better way to approach the problem rather than
giving the nations targets that are very hard to achieve in the first place. Canada had the responsibility
to fall 6% below the 1990 emissions levels, but instead went 23.4. Which basically means, for
example, if a nation had a target of 10%, but actually increased emissions by 10%, the score would be
20, if it was 5% and the nation went 15% under, then the score is 10. Canada went 23.4 which was the
worst score out of all the other nations within the agreement at the time. In any case, it was verifiably
a vital initial phase in worldwide climate diplomacy. The question is whether a more aspiring second
step will follow so as to stay away from unsatisfactory dangers of destroying environmental

The Role Of Empathy In Literature
Although there is no universal belief that empathy is central to social change, there is a significant
level of agreement from educators, politicians, philosophers, and even talk show hosts, that reading
fictional literature evokes feelings of empathy that can encourage individuals to make a difference in
the world (Davis 400; Jurecic 10). Joy Kogawa s novel, Obasan, is an example of how a text that
exudes beauty and gentleness rather than anger while approaching a dark subject can powerfully move
readers. Obasan follows the life of Naomi Nakane, a Japanese Canadian who was only five years old
when her family was separated and relocated from their home in Vancouver during the Second World
War. The novel focuses largely on Naomi s childhood ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Naomi s childhood mirrors that of her author; the Canadian government confiscated the Kogawa
family s home, ordered them inland to an internment camp in Slocan, and after the war ended, forced
the family to move to Alberta where they worked as field laborers on a beet farm. The harsh similarity
between Kogawa and Naomi s lives expresses to readers that, while fictional, Obasan is real. A review
truthfully states that hearing the facts recounted by an author who experienced them all ... [is] a
memorable historical excursion for [readers] who know that the only way to pluck wisdom from the
embarrassments of the past is to face their reality squarely (Graham). The fact that readers are aware
of the historical accuracy of Naomi s story creates a deeper sense of personal connection to the novel,
especially for Japanese Canadians and Canadians, as the events depicted are rooted in truth. One
review explains this effect of the novel well, saying Kogawa s account ... is a unique blend of fact,
fiction, and personal recall. ... Obasan addresses each of us and forces us to look inward. It touches
our hearts and our conscience (Mallory). Davis illustrates that books like Obasan can significantly
change a reader s perspective by saying that

Dr Phil Mcgraw Biography
Phil McGraw, also known as Dr. Phil, is a famous psychologist who helps people both directly and
indirectly. Dr. Phil has overcome many challenges on his way to becoming a successful television
psychologist, inspires others with his story, and is the author of many bestselling books. Before
McGraw s career sparked, he quit his job working with his father, and moved his family in the hope of
finding a more enjoyable career.
One of the many things McGraw does is public speeches. In those speeches, he inspires people to get
real with their lives (Phillip C. McGraw, 2006). Before Dr. Phil met Oprah, he teamed up with
Match.com to give dating advice to its users (Phillip C. McGraw, 2006). While Dr. Phil starred on
Oprah s show, courtesy of her gratitude, he did therapy sessions with people starring on her show. The
fact that McGraw did therapy sessions on television when he quit his job working with his father as a
therapist is quite strange. It was how McGraw handled his patients during those therapy sessions that

McGraw prepared her for her trial. While starring on Oprah s show and giving advice on life

The Scarlet Ibis Quotes
Kind or Cruel; Who Knew We Could Be Both?
As a kid, would you ever get in a fight with your sibling making it seem like you two would never be
friends again, but then, hours later, you re sharing a special moment with each other? Well, in the story
The Scarlet Ibis , the main character had the same dilemma. He went through phases of being cruel
and kind to his brother, Doodle. Doodle was born a weak baby and was not thought to survive for very
long. He did, but because of his disadvantages as a child, he was very offbeat from other kids. James
Hurst uses Doodle s brother to exhibit how he is both cruel and kind towards his younger brother,
Doodle, in his short story, The Scarlet Ibis . Doodle s brother decided that he was going to be ... Show

However, Doodle s brother is also kind because he appreciated Doodle in his life and loved having
him around. Doodle s brother decided to teach Doodle how to walk because, at 5, Doodle could only
crawl and this embarrassed his brother. As they progressed, Doodle accomplished standing and
Doodle s brother said, When he fell, I grabbed him in my arms and hugged him, our laughter pealing
through the swamp like a ringing bell (Hurst 558). Doodle s brother wanted to be there for Doodle and
would help him through the trials of his life. There is an abundant amount of meaning created here
because it displays the bond between two people and the love they can share. A sense of joy is
conceived and demonstrates how their relationship could have been in future years. Because Doodle s
brother wanted to become close with Doodle and bond with him like siblings in other families, he
taught Doodle how to lie. Through his imagination, Doodle came up with a story about how he could
marry his mom and how Doodle s brother could marry his dad. Doodle s brother explains, Of course I
was old enough to know this wouldn t work out, but the picture he painted was so beautiful and
serene, that all I could do was whisper Yes, yes (Hurst 559). Doodle s brother did love what Doodle
could do and for what he brought into his life. As you can see,

The United States Export Import Bank
The United States Export Import Bank: Should Congress Reauthorize It? The Export Import Bank of
the United States just lapsed for the first time in over 80 years on June 30, 2015. The primary activity
of the Export Import Bank is to provide export subsidies to buyers and sellers of U.S. exports. Its
ultimate goal is to shift global market share to U.S. based corporations and away from corporations
headquartered in other countries so as to boost the U.S. economy as a player on the global scale. The
purpose of this paper is to determine the economic effectiveness and impact of the Bank and to discuss
the implications for the global, national and local economy should the Bank fail to be reauthorized by
Congress and permanently expire. Background Objectives Established in 1934 by President Franklin
D. Roosevelt as a part of his New Deal stimulus package , the Export Import (Ex Im) Bank of the
United States, a small federal government agency, is the official Export Credit Authority (ECA) for
the United States. Today, the Ex Im Bank is responsible for assistance in financing the export of U.S.
goods and services to international markets. The Bank s mission statement says that its activities help
to maintain and create U.S. jobs and contribute to a stronger national economy. Driven by market
demand, the Ex Im Bank seeks to provide financing for foreign export projects when the private sector

Kello Vs New London Case Study
Kelo v. New London
Facts
For many years the city of New London in southeastern Connecticut had gone through vast economic
decline, so much so that by 1990 the State had declared the City a distressed municipality . Things
continued to decline for the City when in 1996 the U.S. closed the Naval Undersea Warfare Center
which had employed over 1,500 people (Kelo v. New London, 2005). By 1998 the unemployment rate
for the city of New London was twice that of the state of Connecticut and the population had
plummeted to below 24,000 residents.
The economic revitalization of New London, especially the Ft. Trumbull area, became a hot ticket

Supreme Court found that an economic development plan was indeed public use and therefore all of
the City s takings were constitutional. Justice Stevens issued the majority opinion of the Court, he
began his writing by stating the City would no doubt be forbidden from taking petitioners land for the
purpose of conferring a private benefit on a particular private party... nor would the City be allowed to
take property under the mere pretext of a public purpose (Kelo v. New London, 2005, pg. 478). Justice
O Connor, Justice Scalia, Justice Thomas, and the Chief Justice all dissented. Justice O Connor wrote
the dissent starting with a segment of Calder v. Bull, 3 Dall. 386, 388 (1798) which held that there
should be no Act of the Legislature or law made where it would be acceptable to take property from A
and give it to B is a breach of the first principles of the social compact and is against all reason. Justice
O Connor then stated Today the Court abandons this long held, basic limitation on government power.
Under the banner of economic development, all private property is now vulnerable to being taken and
transferred to another private owner, so long as it might be upgraded i.e., given to an owner who will
use it in a way that the legislature deems more beneficial to the public in the process (Kelo v New

Analysis Of Montezuma Conquest
Conquest: Montezuma, Cortes and the fall of Old Mexico
A Historical Book Review The historical narrative, Conquest: Montezuma, Cortes and the fall of Old
Mexico by Hugh Thomas, is a brilliant and meticulously detailed account of the clash between
empires. It gives one a multi sided perspective of all the parties involved during this period, not just of
the Europeans. The clash between Cortes and the Mexica, the birth of a new nation and the blatant
truth brought on by meticulous research and scripture are portrayed through this narrative. Conquest
begins, in detail, with the Aztecs or Mexica as they called themselves. The word Aztec was not used
during the sixteenth century, not even by Cortes. It gained its popularity from Fransisco Clavijero and
later used by Prescott (Thomas, 1993, p xix). The main focus of this civilization outlined their
leadership as well as military decisions. The Mexica dominated surrounding civilizations along the
Mexican valley for material gain, expansion and for trade. Their social classes, as well as standards,
culture, and way of life, was scripted in this cheater. One thing that caught my attention was the
scrupulously detailed account of human sacrifice and religion that played out in this chapter the more
that one read in. The Mexica worshipped many gods and sacrificed many humans to their gods to
bring about rain, health, prosperity and agricultural abundance. The Mexica s ritualistic sacrifices were
one of the things that

Learning A Second Language Is Important Today
Learning a second language is important in America today. Just going to the grocery store there is
chatter of different languages being spoken. In any occupation it is beneficial to know a foreign
language to be better efficient on workforce tasks. Students go to school with peers who make up a
global classroom. Children have a natural curiosity and excitement to speak a foreign language and to
learn about new cultures. It challenges and helps develop the growing brain to be able to problem
solve more adequately. Elementary school students should learn a second language because it helps
them understand other cultures and become good critical thinkers, learn language skills, and gain
confidence with communication. Development of a child s brain is at its prime, and neuron growth
explodes in Elementary school into Middle school age. The abundance of the neurons will not last and
a child s brain has not seen this much growth since toddler years. With this brain growth, skills
become more automatic and specialized for the student. In early Elementary years as the brain matures
with fibers it is helping them form memories, and the connection of new learning to previous learning
is easier. Teaching a second language at this time is a great opportunity for the advantage of the brain,
which is ready to learn and structure the environment so the child can learn.
Children live in a global society, which helps them have a natural curiosity about the world, and how
it works. Learning

  • 2. Buzz Lightyear s To Infinity And Beyond To Infinity and Beyond! is Buzz Lightyear s famous catchphrase in the Toy Story films and the standard definition is Without limits, limitless, sky s the limit but, hidden in this phrase is a deeper philosophical meaning. Dr. Kent A. Bessey wrote about how the German mathematician Georg Cantor published papers that explained the aspects of infinity and was set on figuring out as much as he could about the limits of infinity. With his tenacity it led Cantor to discover a realm of infinity that no other mathematician was able to discover. Bessy states that Cantor discovered, a remarkable realm where half of a pie is as large as the whole infinity comes in all different sizes, and miracles become mathematically plausible. Cantor would come ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Mrs Bennet Satire Bakhtin believes the reason behind the satire especially in the case of Mrs. Bennet is because, Stupidity in the novel is always polemical: it interacts dialogically with an intelligence... (Bakhtin 403). In other words, because of the mindlessness of Mrs. Bennet the reader can contrast her behavior towards her oldest daughters. The reasoning behind this is for people to question Mrs. Bennet s behavior but also to exaggerate how a woman is supposed to behave. Additionally, during this time, there were some women who on purpose would act anxious similarly to Mrs. Bennet but not as exaggerated. The idea behind acting anxious goes back to the concept that it was a patriarchal society, so women were second class citizens and were fragile creatures. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bennet s overexaggerated behavior to show how the patriarchal society governed over the life of women. In this case, Mrs. Bennet s tried to get her daughters to get married to Mr. Collin simply, so the inheritance would at least go one of her kids instead of women Mr. Collin decides to marry. Though since Mrs. Bennet s daughter Jane is almost engaged to Mr. Bingley the only other option for Mr. Collin to marry would be Elizabeth since her other siblings are much too young to marry. Ergo, Mrs. Bennet tries to influence his decision by mentioning that she is easy going and fairly pretty but is later on outraged when Charlotte will be the one who marries him since Elizabeth rejects him. In the book, she mentions, I should be forced to make way for her and live to see her take my place in it! (Austen 130). By her comment it shows how frustrated Mrs. Bennet was knowing that Charlotte Lucas, Elizabeth s friend, will be the one who inherit the land. Though it also indirectly portrays how Mrs. Bennet was also frustrated with society since as already mentioned women had no rights since they were considered fragile and simply stayed at home worrying about house affairs. These notions in mind led for women during this time to not able to own their property and limited their rights to simple household ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. High Quality Data Quality Analysis 3.1 Introduction High quality data facilitate a precise analysis and the resulting statistics. Hence, high quality data assist the organization to increase its business value. This chapter demonstrates the concept of data quality, the effects of inaccurate data, and the factors that cause low quality data. 3.2 Data Quality The executive and the top management in organizations seek comprehensive reports and dashboards to enable them to understand on going processes and facilitate the decision making that improves their business. However, the decision making process may be influenced by various factors. Data quality is a critical factor because when the quality of the data is inferior, poor decisions could be made [39]. In addition, data ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hence, several parties share the responsibility for the quality of data. In addition, J. E. Olson (2003) observed that the poor data quality resulted from the rapid growth of information system technology and the prompt evolution in system implementation and frequent changes that complicate and hamper the quality control process [44]. According to C. Boulton (2016), 57.5% of poor data are caused by users, followed by 47% caused by data migration and integration, which usually lead to gaps or duplicate information, and 43.5% caused by changes to source systems (Figure 5) [45]. Figure 5: Causes of poor data quality [45] Jack E. Olson (2003) defined data quality as data that are linked to their fit for use. In other words, high data quality is obtained when the data fulfill the requirements and the criteria of its intended usage. In contrast, poor quality results when the data do not fulfil their requirements [44]. 3.3 Dimensions of Data Quality In previous research, data quality was divided into two main categories: intrinsic and contextual. In the intrinsic category, value resides within the data, which refers to objective attributes. In the contextual category, the attributes of the data mainly depend on the context in which the data are present, used, as well as the situation or problem. Data in the contextual category include the dimensions of relevance and believability [39], ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Next Generation Analysis This week we jumped into the Renaissance. The ground work for understanding the time period was set with the initial discussion about the influences of humanism, the Reformation, and the relative peace of the time. All of these aspects aided in allowing musicians and musical traditions mingle. In the early 15th century there is a rise to prominence by the English, but also this mixing. The English had a liking for using thirds and sixths in their music, something that came to be called contenance angloise . This mixed in with the French preference for rhythmic complexity and forms, and the Italian florid melodic writing, to create this new international style. The composers associated with this time period are John Dunstable, Gilles Binchois, and Guillaume Du Fay. In the next generation (1450 1490), there is a greater use of imitation, wider ranges, more equality among the voices, minor prolations, and longer phrases. There was only one composer who we studied, Antoine Busnoys. In the next, next generation (1490 ), there is a breakaway from formes fixe , the structure of works being based on the text, and greater equality of voices to the point where each phrase is composed with all the voices in mind. • 6. New Imperialism Analysis The New Imperialism was centered on nationalism, social Darwinism, and economic expansion. The colonizers of the time were focused on only improving the state of their own countries and never even paid attention to what the indigenous peoples were forced to do. All they wanted was influence and power. On the other hand, the colonized had no control over the situation. They had no power to fight back against the countries taking them over, and they were forced to change their way of life to the ways of the white man. Rhodes was a perfect example of one of those colonizers, he believed that the English were the most superior race and that the world would be better if the English took over. Critical Analysis Of Balzac And The Little Chinese Seamstress Taron Williams Dr. Rick Taylor ENGL 2400 03/16/2015 Critical Analysis of Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress During the period right before the Cultural Revolution began the country of China was in the middle of a peasant revolt. There had been many things plaguing the country, especially an economic crisis. According to Singh (1968), this was a very important moment in the country s history, because in such a short time frame the revolution brought created tremendous changes in the political, social and cultural life of the Chinese people. The book Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress explores both the historical and cultural context of China and the people, who lived in China during that time period. The purpose of this paper is to examine the historical and social context of the story as it relates to China s Cultural Revolution. In the book the un named protagonist and Luo are bourgeois doctors sons; they are forced by the government to live in a remote mountain village to be re educated by the local peasants. One of the main purposes of the Cultural Revolution was to attempt to strip as many urban Chinese people of what the government considered to be bourgeois values, as possible. The term bourgeois values is used to refer to middle class people who give importance to status, possessions, and capitalism above all else. Furthermore, the term bourgeois was often associated with western values in China during that time period, which was in stark contrast to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Hba1c s Role In Diabetic Analysis Glycated haemoglobin is a measure of blood glucose levels over the previous 120 days and reflects the time averaged blood glucose over the preceding 1 3 months, depending on the rate of change of blood glucose levels. HbA1c, or glycosylated haemoglobin, is formed through the non enzymatic binding of circulating glucose to haemoglobin (glycation). HbA1c is measured as the ratio of glycosylated to non glycosylated haemoglobin (Sacks et al, 2002). Higher levels of glucose in the blood contribute to more binding and consequent higher levels of glycosylated haemoglobin. Glycation occurs over the entire 90 120 day life span of the red blood cell. According to many of the detectives in the office, they are the most vicious and most violent gangs they have ever encountered. State versus Gillens and Mercer are one of those encounters. The Bloods, or the United Blood Nation, was developed around 1972. The Crips were dominating the streets of L.A. and were battling with multiple street gangs. After a rumble with the street gang Pirus and murdering an L.A. Brim, the street gangs had enough of the Crip s intimidation. They decided to unite all the street gangs which consisted of the Piru Street Boys in Compton, L.A. Brim, the Pueblos, the Bishops, Athens Park Boys, and the Denver Lanes. Soon enough they called their new gang the Bloods and took on the color red to show their opposition against the Crips (Savelli, 2002). In 1993, the Bloods made their way over to the East Coast and developed within the New York City jail system on Riker s Island George Mochen Detention Center. • 11. Firearms In The United States Firearms should not be banned in the United States because it would deny people their rights, deny citizens a form of self defense, prevent use for sports such as hunting and marksmanship, and give exclusive firearm access to criminals. Many gun control activists out there think that guns need to be banned completely from civilian use. While guns may need to be controlled a bit for public safety, banning them would not help anything. • 13. Paradigmatic Shift Of System Theory Essay The paradigmatic shift of system theory is the evolution of systematic thinking which is made up of two systems; the simple cybernetics (first order) and cybernetics of cybernetics (second order). The first system of the cybernetics also known as the simple cybernetics is the level in which we view lives from a perspective in which we observe from a different aspect of the outside view. I feel as though when it comes to the first order cybernetics, everything such as the personal view becomes irrelevant to the situation because our focus is on describing what is happening from a different pattern. As for the second order also known the cybernetics of cybernetics transform our view where we are no longer viewing from the outside looking in. In the system, we are now observing the situation from a standpoint which we are involved. In the book, I have acknowledged that it is best to view things that I can observe from the outside looking in and also being and participate in a situation which set my viewpoint than how others view certain situations. In my opinion, in most cases as humans, individuals go through different phases in their lives to learn, and to experience a different perspective when it comes, a prospect of our lives. When the book talks about the system theory/cybernetics it is a little frustrating to comprehend from my understanding and how to connect the theory to a real life situation. • 14. Housing Market Drives out of Economic Recession When researching past economic recoveries, the housing market is the one to drive the economy out of recession. That being said, this economic recession hasn t had much of an impact until recently. America s housing boom had a tremendous influence on the economy for its low prices and flow of new home construction. The new construction market in the mid 2000 s was flourishing. People saw building a home as an opportunity for a solid investment because prices and rates were so low that certain homes could depreciate extremely slowly. However, there would be a negative effect from all this low cost new construction and few were aware of just how devastating it would be to the new construction market. In 2005, the market was flooded with a vast array of homes that were all selling at a low price, and this allowed people to buy and sell homes with minimal effort. Banks were being reckless with their lending, not giving enough attention to who they were giving mortgages to, as virtually anybody with a decent credit score could go to a bank and get a mortgage, sometimes without even going to see if the land and ability for development was there. This created a housing bubble in 2006, and would inevitably come back to hurt a wide range of industries, but few were as damaged as the new construction industry. Once things started to get bad, they got really bad for a lot of families who were given mortgages, who were not properly qualified. There was a major spike in defaults, with ... • 16. Evolution Of Divorce And The Consequences It Has On Todays... For my research project, I would like to explore the evolution of divorce/marriage and the consequences it has on todays society. In todays society the definition of family has dramatically changed, both by structure and by definition. Divorce is now the norm. Today in the United States it is believed that the divorce rate hovers at about 50% and that one of every six adults divorces two or more times. Why has this become normal, and what can we do to fix this? I believe that by taking a step back and focusing on marriage, and really knowing who your marrying, we could see a significant drop in divorce and the problems developing in each generation. Divorce is never something to be taken lightly. In this paper I will examine the unfolding of divorce and how it evolved into what it is today, therefore shed some light on possibilities to undercut the still rising divorce rate. While I go through this paper I will give you a complete background on the former marriage regime and how divorce was in the past vs now. While divorce is helpful for some people it can also be a difficult and painful process for others. My goal is to not come off as one sided but to really educate you on the background of marriage and divorce and hopefully learn from our past mistakes. My position is that we need to understand the effects and the consequences of divorce so we can reevaluate how we view and define divorce, and therefore marriage. How has divorce revolutionized, what can we do to fix ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of the driving factors for Taylor s scientific management was that he believed the industrial management of his day was run by individuals that had no professional amplitude Deming suggested that management could be formulated as an academic discipline, and that the best results would come from the partnership between a trained and qualified management and a cooperative and innovative workforce (Weisbord, 1987, p. 9). Taylorism became the first big management fad. Taylor s scientific management consisted of four principles (Weisbord, 1987): 1. Replace rule of thumb work methods with methods based on a scientific study of the tasks. 2. Scientifically select, train, and develop each employee rather than passively leaving them to train themselves. 3. Puerto Rico s Identity Formation Under U.S. Colonial Rule Upon continuing the discussion of what it means to be Puerto Rican, it is clear that the early US colonial rule fundamentally shaped the character of this definition. At the conclusion of the Spanish American War, Puerto Rico became a possession of the United States subject only to the privileges that the US was willing to grant it. The dichotomy between Puerto Rico s expectations and what it actually became after 1898, helped to formulate elite definitions of what it meant to be Puerto Rican. Such limitations against the Puerto Rican people seemed very reasonable to the US colonizers given the fact that they were faced with the responsibility of preparing a politically immature people to someday achieve self government. This responsibility is portrayed well upon examination of Puerto Rico through the Library of Congress photo exhibit entitled Touring Turn of the Century America Photographs from the Detroit Publishing Company, 1880 1920. The photo entitled On the Military Road, Puerto Rico (c. 1903) and The Military Road, Puerto Rico (c. 1903) presents a scene in which the US soldiers had to penetrate a dark, thick, and mysterious jungle in order to find Puerto Rican society. Urban poverty reached outside the home, into the parks, schools and playgrounds. With poverties reach being that extensive, there was something other than adversity causing this. Louis Gates wrote an article about this called Black America and The Class Divide. Analysis Of Montezuma Conquest Conquest: Montezuma, Cortes and the fall of Old Mexico A Historical Book Review The historical narrative, Conquest: Montezuma, Cortes and the fall of Old Mexico by Hugh Thomas, is a brilliant and meticulously detailed account of the clash between empires. It gives one a multi sided perspective of all the parties involved during this period, not just of the Europeans. The clash between Cortes and the Mexica, the birth of a new nation and the blatant truth brought on by meticulous research and scripture are portrayed through this narrative. Conquest begins, in detail, with the Aztecs or Mexica as they called themselves. The word Aztec was not used during the sixteenth century, not even by Cortes. It gained its popularity from Fransisco Clavijero and later used by Prescott (Thomas, 1993, p xix). The main focus of this civilization outlined their leadership as well as military decisions. The Mexica dominated surrounding civilizations along the Mexican valley for material gain, expansion and for trade. Their social classes, as well as standards, culture, and way of life, was scripted in this cheater.
