The September 11th Attack on the World Trade Center
In the early 1960 s, executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Austin
J Tobin, brought forward the proposal for a giant skyscraper complex in order to accommodate
for much needed office space in Lower Manhattan. The plan was met with considerable opposition
at first, but Tobin s proposal eventually succeeded, and Japanese American Minoru Yamasaki was
commissioned to design the building. Yamasaki projected a novel design for a development that
included two 110 storey twin towers . Upon completion in 1971, they were the tallest towers in the
world, a record the infrastructure held for two years. The magnificent World Trade Centre complex
which in 2001 included five other buildings in addition to the iconic Twin... Show more content on

At 8.14am, as the aircraft was passing over central Massachusetts, the stewardesses began
serving beverages. Suddenly five men stood up and began making their way towards the
cockpit. Two stewardesses tried to intervene, but the men stabbed them with small pocket knives
that they had successfully smuggled past airport security. The following screams and sight of
blood caused panic among the passengers. A passenger tried to interpose one of the hijackers,
but he was also stabbed. The remaining passengers watched on helplessly as the hijackers
entered the cockpit. The aircraft was now in the hands of the al Qaeda hijackers, one of whom
was himself a trained pilot. Mohammed Atta, lead hijacker, turned the aircraft sharply to the
south and set a new course for New York City. At 8.46am American Airlines Flight 11, appeared
low in the sky above Manhattan. Flying at a speed of around 750km/h, the aircraft slammed into
the North Tower of the World Trade Centre between the 93rd and 99th floors. The impact triggered
a huge explosion as an estimated 10,000 gallons of jet fuel, needed for the intended journey to Los
Angles ignited. All the passengers, including hijackers died instantly; hundreds working in the
tower were also killed upon the impact. Just 17 minutes later, while New Yorkers were still trying
to come to terms with the events that had just occurred; United

Christianity And Birth Control
Human life is a sacred right that all individuals possess. It is unlawful and mortally sinful to take
away or prevent the life of an infant. Human life is sacred all men must recognize that fact, said
Pope John XXIII in defense of the unborn (John XXIII). To be truly pro life, one must accept that
doing so does not only refer to being opposed to abortion, but also being opposed to birth control
and contraception. The Catholic Church has professed for two thousand years that the conjugal act
is a gift from God to married couples for the sole purpose of procreation. This gift is abused and
perverted by humans; who view conjugal love as a means of pleasure rather than what it truly is.
Abortion, contraception and birth control are three methods... Show more content on

The popularity and convenience of birth control has led to a higher popularity of abortions.
Historically, Christianity has always condemned birth control and the contraceptive mentality for
2,000 years until the Lambeth Conference of the Anglican Communion in 1930 (Carlson). Many
other Protestant communities jumped on the bandwagon and embraced this modern and destructive
practice. The Roman Catholic Church has stood firm in her tradition and doctrine during these dark
times. His Holiness, Pope Paul VI, condemned birth control and contraception as immoral in the
papal encyclical Humanae Vitae. Consequently, it is a serious error to think that a whole
married life of otherwise normal relations can justify sexual intercourse which is deliberately
contraceptive and so intrinsically wrong (Paul VI). Anyone who claims to be pro life, yet
embraces contraceptives, is truly flattering himself. God struck Onan dead in Genesis for
performing coitus interruptus, spilling his seed on the ground, which is a severe punishment
indeed. Imagine the anger of God toward those who interfere with the means to create life that
he gave humanity. Using birth control is telling God that man controls creation, not Him. It is
intrinsically blasphemous and disobedient in nature. Sexual immorality is condemned by the
Bible and birth control certainly falls within this category since it is a means to misuse intimacy
for the purpose of pleasure, rather than procreation. Christian and non Christian married couples
should use sex for procreation instead of using each others bodies just for pleasure. Pleasures are so
readily available in this world, and now God s own generative process is being corrupted by
modern medicine. It is God who remains the sovereign Master of life. We are obliged to accept life
gratefully and preserve it

Analysis Of Fog Falling On Cedars
Taking Flight I sit in this AP Language and Composition class trying to decipher the essence of the
unending annotations and floods of random texts for the past quarter. Little did I know that I
would be taking flight and soaring through the smallest details and threads of literary devices and
techniques of analyzing language. Before this class, I looked at a book, aware that it was filled with
potential symbolism and crucial themes that were definitely worth considering. Yet, I often paid
far less attention to the way words are crafted in efforts to create a beautiful masterpiece. Who
knew that the jargon used in Snow Falling on Cedars could significantly shape the overall tone of
the book? From the years leading up to this class, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Welty describes the first steps of reading as human, but inward...It is to me the voice of the story
or poem itself (Welty 11). Picking up from my knowledge of personification, I gained a new
perspective on how books play an impact on how one thinks when reading a piece, as it describes
the voice of the book as a human. Having said, this gave me the idea that books establish a personal
connection between itself and the reader. Following through with the next chapter, Welty
recognizes the value of the summer trips she experienced with her family. She makes an
interesting analogy between her trips and reading by calling them stories. Not only in form, but in
their taking on direction, movement, development, change...each trip made its particular
revelation, though I could not have found words for it (68). Connecting this to the title of chapter
two, learning to see when reading requires looking closely at the small details and soaking it in, in
a way that one can look back upon it later. Once one starts to carefully listen and look at the
fluidity and rich ingredients a book has, he/she can find their own voice, which leads into the next
chapter. Reading spurs imagination which then allows one to explore their own inner being. Welty
best describes her encounter of this by explaining my imagination takes its strength and guides its
direction from what

Figurative Language In The House Of The Scorpion
The Mood of the Reader. The famous philosopher Plato once said, You can discover more about
a person with an hour of play than in a year of conversation. But dialogue and figurative language
can help the reader understand people, and their surroundings. An hour of play can t tell their
deepest secrets and their emotions to bring your fate s together. In The House of the Scorpion
by Nancy Farmer, the dialogue of her characters and the descriptive language she uses helps
show the mood and helps inference more about the novel. Nancy Farmer creates fascinating
dialogue to introduce the mood and the characters. In the book the author uses a lot of dialogue
to move the events along and introduce feelings to the reader. For instance, when Matt, the main
character, and Matt s friend, see a man lying on the ground and say to each other, Can t we can t
we help him? faltered Matt. It s too late for that poor soul, grunted the bodyguard. What about
the doctor? This quote indicates how kind of a heart Matt has. It introduces guilt to the reader of
the man lying there and a little pleasure of knowing that the main character isn t soulless. It helps
add feelings and depth of the understanding of the reader when reading this dialogue. Secondly,
when Celia, Matt s guardian is leaving for work, says, What s this? the woman said. You re a big
boy now, almost six. You know I have to work. ... Take me with you, begged Matt, grabbing her
shirt and wadding it up with his hands.

Social Contagion, Emotions And The Voter s Paradox
In the 21st century, the ability to vote is seen in most developed countries as a right. Most seem
to take pride in the freedom to choose who their country s leader will be and relish in debating
over which of the candidates arguments is the most logical. All in the spirit of democracy. But is
voting really as straight forward and logical as we like to believe?
Let s first look at what being irrational actually means. According to the Merriam Webster
dictionary, for something to be irrational it must be not based on reason, good judgment, or clear
thinking . This means that if a vote is rational , it must be a clear reflection of what people believe
in, not influenced by any outside factors. To see if this is actually the case, we ll be examining
phenomena such as social contagion, emotions and the voter s paradox .
Checking back in with the Merriam Webster dictionary, we see that a vote is the collective
opinion or verdict of a body of persons expressed by voting . And there is our first obstacle to a
perfectly rational vote when humans make decisions in the presence of others, they re influenced
by what others think. Social pressures affect people s decisions all of the time. This is what the
psychologists like to call this social contagion.
The university of Notre Dame conducted an experiment in 2008 on a sample of households with
two registered voters. They knocked on the doors of each of these houses and presented them with

Seven Basic Face Shape
Choosing glasses that suit the shape of your face is important for both comfort and aesthetics.
There are seven basic face shapes to consider when it comes to eyeglasses, and taking the time to
determine which shape your face is will help you pick the right pair of glasses for you.
The seven different face shapes are oval, diamond, square, round, triangle, inverted triangle and
oblong. To start your calculation, have a basic, passport style photo of yourself taken by a friend
or family member and draw six dots on the picture. Draw two dots on each side of your forehead,
two dots on your cheekbones near your eyes and two dots on your jaw line at the level of your
mouth.
Next, check the dots to figure out your face shape and help figure out which eyeglasses to
choose. For an oval shape, the dots will be farthest apart on your cheekbones and equally spaced
on your jaw and forehead, making it longer that it is wide. The diamond shape resembles an
oval, but the jaw and forehead dots will be closer together. The dots are farthest apart on the
cheekbones of a round face, with the forehead and jaw closer together so the width and height of
the face are about the same. For a square face, all three pairs of dots are ... Show more content on

The goal in choosing glasses to match the shape of your face is balance. Try not to accentuate
the parts that are already accentuated, and try not to hide the parts that may not be as noticeable
naturally. Someone with a square face shouldn t look for boxy looking frames that will make his
face look even more square, and someone with a diamond shape should try to draw attention
away from her wider cheekbones. Ask for advice from the salesperson you are working with, and
make your own calculations, so you end up with a pair of glasses that balance out all elements of
your face, are comfortable to wear and look

Doctor-Patient Relationship Essay
More than just a diagnosis
To listen to personal stories of what it is like to be unwell is an incredible way for medical
students and doctors to learn about illness and gain firsthand insight into Whole person care .
Earlier this year, I got the opportunity as part of our ELM3 Healthcare in the Community (HIC)
group to meet and learn about a member of the community with a traumatic brain injury and her
interactions with healthcare professionals and personal journey towards recovery. An open
discussion allowed us to learn about her narrative, which provided many examples of the distinction
between disease and illness and the importance of a patient centered approach to healthcare.
This opportunity is one of many the Otago School of Medicine and its HIC programme have
organised to build a foundation and develop into becoming a well rounded and patient focused
doctor. It has allowed me to learn a vast amount about myself and certainly has expanded my
views on the importance of patient centered healthcare. This essay is a reflective piece where I
will expand on the story of Miss X and some specific learning experiences that have helped me
appreciate the integrated approach to the healing process of medicine as well as the importance of
the doctor patient relationship.
Approximately twelve years ago, at the age of twenty one, Miss X was involved in a motor
vehicle accident resulting in a traumatic brain injury and leaving her in a coma for nine and a half

Roman Catacombs Research Paper
This report will mainly be about the Roman Catacombs, I will also talk about how they came
about, what they are primarily used for, and also how these things go back thousands of years.
Catacombs are underground, which is a city of the dead with different passages with tombs in
the side. Roman had a law that stated that no one can be buried in the walls of Rome itself.
Catacombs are made out of different soils, these soils are solid and hard, they needed them to
last forever so the people won t get destroyed. It is astonishing on how they are still around today
and you can go on tours to see these catacombs. This soil is still around today and for the most

The walls, ceilings, and catacombs are made out of plaster, and they also used paint to decorate
them. This plaster last so many years and it was made very well and sturdy to hold thousands of
people. In the catacombs there are galleries at the surface of these galleries there air and sunlight
provided. There were many engraved things these things reflected the different things in society
for example the wars, slavery, and maybe even a depression era. When an era would end you
really wouldn t hear or see any other things on that event, as soon as it ended they didn t talk or
engrave more things on that topic. Another catacomb I will be talking about is the Paris catacomb.
These catacombs hold many bodies approximately six million people, this catacomb is in an
ancient mined which is like a tunnel of tombs for the dead people. Many of the catacombs around
the world are somewhat different but in many ways the same. It is neat to read about who had
things engraved and what sculptures they had around these catacombs. Catacomb Symbols:

The Expansion Of The Antebellum Period
Prior to the Antebellum Period, the United States began to expand its influence to the Midwest.
Although there were conflicts regarding the state of slavery, the expansion of land helped the
people of America attain cheaper and larger plots of land out west. Due to the fact that more land
was available within the United States, immigrants had the desire to emigrate to America and
establish new ways of life. Since both the Irish and the Germans brought their own ideologies with
them, conflicts arose with them and the Americans, which made the American s fear change. Along
with immigrants came the European Romantic Movement. This movement emphasized the ideas of
man s perfection and the metaphysical and spiritual side of humans. Although, during the
Antebellum Period, the American s fear of change led to reforms involving the immigration of
others and, ultimately, the Second Great Awakening, but the Romantic Movement, brought from
Europe by the said immigrants, also led to reforms such as abolitionism and feminism within
American society. With the immigration of Europeans, primarily the Irish, came conflicting views
that created tension within the United States and caused Americans to fear change and reform their
society. Due to these tensions, a new ideology, nativism, became popular. Nativism, an anti
immigration ideology, emphasized the idea that immigrants were only liked for their ability to
serve and listen to what their priests told them to. Also, nativism stated

1903 was awarded for a future prize in chemistry and the award in 1903 was the beginning of the

Ray Bradbury s There Will Come Soft Rains
The Influences on Ray Bradbury s There Will Come Soft Rains
Ray Bradbury was born in Waukegan, Illinois, 1920, but moved to Los Angeles, California in
1934 (Newsmakers). He was a famous science fiction author, with his most notable works
including Fahrenheit 451 and the Martian Chronicles, a collection of short stories (Ray(mond)
(Douglas) Bradbury). One of the short stories included in the Martian Chronicles was There Will
Come Soft Rains , which depicted the end of mankind on Earth due to nuclear war. The only mark
left by humanity is an automated house left that carries on completing household chores even
though the family is dead. The story ends with a fire destroying the house. This work, along with
others make Ray Bradbury a significant and influential science fiction author. His writing style and
themes developed due to personal and historical events that he experienced during his lifetime.
Ray Bradbury s childhood and early work, the events of World War II, and his focus on the

Mindfulness And Drama Therapy Association
Mindfulness and Drama Jashuko Kwong Roshi states that original mindfulness is the
actualization of humanity s inherent basic goodness, it is creatively joined with the new
therapies and offers a stream of helping and compassionate services for something very old
(Rappaport, 2013, p.1). The North American Drama Therapy Association defines drama as the
intentional use of drama, and or theater process to achieve therapeutic goals (North American
Drama Association, 2016). Drama therapy is both experiential and active, this particular
approach to therapy can provide the context for the participants to tell their stories, set goals,
solve problems, express feelings or achieve catharsis unlike talk therapy, drama therapy gets
there at a rapid pace. Role playing, which allows one to act out issues and problems is reportedly
more effective than talking (Landy, 2016). Mindfulness Meditation serves as a compliment to
drama therapy, and many of the skills sets and approaches that are developed through the form
of art can actually be utilized in everyday life. Skills such as concentration, acceptance, openness,
and loving kindness are each contributors to the body of drama therapy work as well as the
overall effectiveness of the therapy (Rappaport, 2013, p. 27). Mindfulness can be used as a tool
that can not only be used in therapy, but in the classroom as well. Drama games and storytelling

Working With Parents
In your opinion, why is the parent partnership important in the education of a student?
Research has clearly proven that student achievement improves when parents are involved in their
child s education (2010). When an education system comes together with the family of their
students, the children tend to have a better understanding of the importance of school and working
their best to become as educated as they can be. Students who have not involved parents may feel
that they are at school only to be away from their parents. There are many reasons why children
drop out of school so it is the job of the school system and families to do whatever it takes to get the
student involved in their education. Once the student knows that everyone around them is
supporting their educational needs they are more likely to have a positive outlook towards school.
When they then become a parent they are more likely willing to be a partner in their future children
s educational experiences because of their positive attitude towards learning.
Why do you believe that some parents are reluctant to be involved in the educational process? ...

One major reason that I feel that parents are reluctant to work with schools is that they do not
trust the schools to do what is best for their child. Parents must believe and trust that the teacher
and school genuinely care about and are willing to do whatever is necessary to help their child
(2010). Once a school loses the trust of parents it is hard to build it up again. Parents may also
come into a school with a feeling of distrust because of their own educational experience. It is the
job of the school to try and work on every parental relationship and build the trust

Mitochondrial Pathway Of Mitochondrial And Mitochondrial...
1.2.2. Mitochondrial pathway
The mitochondrial pathway, also called intrinsic pathway, because it is initiated from inside the cell.
Various stimuli such as growth factors withdrawal, DNA damage, hypoxia, and oxidative stress can
induce apoptosis through this cascade. These insults cause increasing permeability of the outer
mitochondrial membrane and opening of the mitochondrial permeability transition (MPT) pore
which is controlled by members of the Bcl 2 family proteins. This large family of proteins is
defined by the presence of conserved Bcl 2 homology domains (BH1 to BH4). Up to 30 Bcl 2
family genes have been identified in mammals, which have either pro apoptotic or anti apoptotic
functions. Some of the anti apoptotic members include Bcl 2 itself, Bcl XL, Bcl w, BAG and
Mcl 1 which possess all domains of BH1 to BH4. The pro apoptotic family proteins can be
divided into two subgroups: consists of Bak, Bax, and Bok with possess BH1 to BH3 domains,
and Bad, Bid, Bik, BNIP3, Bim, Bmf, Blk, Hrk, Noxa, Puma, and Spike) that only possesses
BH3 domain [Cory, 2002; Mund, 2003]. It is believe that BH3 only proteins interfere with the fine
tuned balance of homo or hetero oligomerization between pro apoptotic multidomains (eg., Bax
/Bak) and anti apoptotic members (eg., Bcl 2/Bcl XL) (Figure 3). In general, oligomers of Bak,
Bax, and Bok induce PMT, either by forming channels by themselves or by interacting with

Oceania As A Dystopia In George Orwell s 1984
The word utopia originates from two Greek words which translate to no place and good place .
If that is true, then when that word is used, it implies that there is no place that is all good. In
the beginning, Oceania in George Orwell s 1984 appears to be an exceptional place. As the
novel progresses, it becomes clear that Oceania is quite the opposite. The people are suffering,
limited in every aspect, and always being watched. Even Newspeak, which they are working to
perfect, would limit their thought and speech. The purpose of Newspeak was not only to provide
a medium of expression for the worldview and mental habits proper to the devotees of Ingsoc, but
to make all other modes of thought impossible, (Orwell 303). Oceania is a dystopiaas a result...

They didn t want to keep the power for the protection or well being of the people, they wanted it
to better the party. The inner party did whatever it would take to prevent an uprising which could
result in the loss of power. Orwell uses war as a form of mind control to show how a government
can distract and redirect their population s attention by creating one common enemy for everyone
to hate (Glover). If the government can get all their people to unite and hate the common enemy,
that allows them to have the distraction they need to keep their power, change history, and
everything else they do to restrict the people. The mutual enemy serves only as a direction of
attention to allow the government to get away with everything, as well as a method to show their
people what they can do. Atomic warfare made total war unthinkable, but it suits the political

Analyzing Black Liberation Theology, Latin American...
Liberation Theology
Black Liberation Theology, Latin American Liberation Theology, and Feminist Theology
Liberation theology comprises of two main principles: it recognizes the call for liberation from any
form of oppression economic, political, and social: second, it says that theology must grow from the
basic Christian communities and not from above. Liberation theology examines the theological
meaning of human activities, which includes an explanation of the Christian faith out of suffering,
struggle and hopes for the poor, critiques the society and its ideologies that sustaining its existence.
In addition, it also reflects on the activities of the church from a perspective of the poor.
Liberation lies at three levels of meaning which have a correlation. Liberation at the social and
political level, it states on the oppressed classes and people. It emphasizes on the conflict that
arises from the economic, social, and political process that happens between the oppressed and
oppressors. At the human level, liberation emerges as a historical process that shows the conscious
development of people on their own through social changes. At the religious level, liberation means
being free from sin the main source of all alienation from fraternity and the source of all oppression
and injustice. This last form of liberation brings man into communion with God. The three processes
are inseparable and form a unique complex process (Hillar, 2000).

Dangers In Norman Podhoretz s Looking Back AtCatch 22
However, the possible dangers are not limited to ones pertaining to physical injury. An example
of this is Yossarian s conversation with an italian family who is told that Yossarian is their dying
son, wincing and feel[ing] sick at his barefaced lie (Heller 184 185). This scenario serves as a
broad implication of moral loss and danger faced by soldiers. Their lives affect those around them
and their families, and their decisions can also weigh on their conscience. They also rely on each
other, and occasionally may form emotional ties amid all of the superficial relationships, putting a
part of their soul at risk. Reinforcing this assertion that all these conflicts are legitimate fears,

common facets of everyday life, establishing the tumultuous atmosphere in the novel. After this,
Heller makes the conflict between Yossarian much more relatable to the reader by adding in

Advertising plays a big part in life, not having it could hurt the economy, and primarily as a
country not enough people would buy things because they simple don t know about them. So,
advertising is a key informational tool about products in society today. The economy is built
around people spending money on all products that exist in the world, sustaining it through
taxation. A person usually buys something because it appeals to them in three ways: It looks
good, it s a great deal, and this is a necessity. Because an item looks good, doesn t mean people
should buy it but this is the case most of the time. Also people love when they can save a dollar
or two, and this is why there are coupons a different type of advertisement similar to the Geico
ad, essentially still promising that it will save money if money is spent. Is saving money
spending money, just to save a percentage in the long run? Sometimes, people will not save
money because they don t have the product to begin with, and it can if an existing product is
price reduced by a similar product. The main reason people want to believe they buy something
is because they think it s a necessity to their life. In life there are tons of products that are needed,
and some of those are advertised such as healthcare that should be free. People need insurance in

Media s Goals For The Future
Throughout history, humans have possessed an intrinsic desire to communicate with one another.
Traditionally, communication occurred in the form of face to face contact, body language, or via
written messages sent from one to another. However, the invention of one particular form of
communication, mass communication, has changed the way some messages are sent and received.
Mass communication is defined as, the industrialized production and multiple distribution of
messages through technological devices, and has allowed for the rise of mass mediaoutlets, or
companies that send out messages via mass media(1). One such outlet is 21st CenturyFox, a global
media organization involved in the production and distribution of media content across a variety of
platforms (2). Throughout this paper, several key aspects of Fox will be analyzed in depth,
including the company s goals for the future, plan to overcome obstacles to achieve these goals, and
impacts that achieving these goals will have on consumers.
21st Century Fox has a clear and concise vision for the future of their company. Their main goal,
is to reach as wide and as diverse of an audience as possible, in order to maximize their
viewership, and thus, profits for shareholders (3). Over the past year, the company has greatly
increased the variety of content available to their existing consumers by investing in new media,
including films such as The Fault in our Stars, X Men: Days of Future Past, and The Grand

Compare algebraic proof and geometric proof, which one is stronger? And why?
Human being is thinking reed, this is famous quote by Pascal, one of the greatest mathematician

thinking is root of our knowledge, the reason why we was able to be the most developed animal

curiosity , we found question simply to answer to the things that were near, such as comparing

Election Of 1864 Essay
The Election of 1864 was important for many reasons, including the outcome of the Civil War,
Abraham Lincoln s assassination, and the first Presidential Re Elect since 1832. Abraham
Lincoln ran for the Union Party and ran against General George B McClellan and John Fremont.
Lincoln was very pessimistic about his chances of winning the Presidential race, as evidenced by
the memorandum he penned, stating what he would do in the very likely event that he was not re
elected. The victories in Atlanta and Cedar Creek boosted Lincoln s chances of winning
immensely. Lincoln eventually won with a 55/45 split of the popular vote and an electoral

Vaccines Are Promising Methods For Disease Prevention
Pertussis is a highly contagious respiratory disease, and commonly known as whooping cough
because of the uncontrollable coughing which follows infection. However, the immunization
against pertussis has two vaccines; DPT and DTaP. DPT contains whole cell pertussis which is
pertussis bacteria chemically and heat treated while the DTap version has less bioactive pertussis

demographic which could receive the vaccine. 3.3 million patients participated in the study,

determine whether or not the occurrence of encephalitis was relevant to the immunization,
cases which happened within 1 4 2day risk window after the vaccination were considered
relevant. The main disadvantage for this form of data collection is that it relied on an electronic
hub for collection, and there was probable delay in updating patient files. To overcome this
possibility, Yih et al. (2009) conducted another confirmatory analysis post study period. Using
statistical technology, Yih et al. (2009) set two values; critical value and an upper limit value. If
the critical value is reached, the null hypothesis that there is no correlation between the DTaP
vaccine and encephalitis cases would be rejected. However, if the upper limit value is reached
prior to the critical value, the null hypothesis stands. The results of Yih et al. (2009) determined
that the TDaP vaccine was not causal to encephalitis arrival as upper limits were reached before
critical values. In addition, according to Yih et al. (2009) s

Augustus And Julius Caesar
It is very interesting that Augustus was a special emperor and leader in both Roman Republic
and Empire because he was the last Republic leader and he was the first emperor. He was like a
bridge or a construction politician, leader and emperor between two regimes. But, how were the
regimes according to his time period? I need to focus on it before analyzing and evaluating Augustus
and his doings. Firstly, he was very clever that he got the ability to take advantage of every and
each situation regarding the state and political issues. It might be being one of Julius Caesars
relatives that he was Augustus uncle at first, and then Caesar adopted him. Maybe, he wanted to
make real his step father s wish to change the regime gradually. His first smart political movement
was the second triumvirate s setting up to bring the State back to the previous good years to govern.
But, after ten years triumvirate, it had some defects because of the members beneficial conflicts
with one another, and then Augustus confronted to Marcus Antonius and Marcus Aemilius Lepidus
because of their personal benefits and ambition, and he alone was most insistent that no one should

however as the movie progresses, their mission turns into something far more bigger. They began
to find other Jews who come hoping to join them in their quest for survival, while looking to them

I enjoyed the fact that the setting of the story is different unlike other movies. Instead of it being
fixated on the lives of the Jews living in concentration camps or the ghettos, there setting takes
place outside in the forest where they have to take on even more problems and adapt themselves
to nature s environment. The Jews had to start from the bottom, but eventually they created an
efficient and resilient community. They were forced to build shelters out of material such as
wood and tree stems found in the forest. The refugees organized leadership roles by the various
skills of the Jews. Most were skilled craftsmen, artisans, and laborers, but soon became fighters and
soldiers, gun cleaners, and shoemakers. Women were deemed the task of preparing the meals, and
keeping up with the children. They also had the impossible task of having to find weapons and
ammunition to survive.
Along with their environmental situations, the Jews were faced with the problem of lack of food.
With their group continuously growing, they turned to stealing food from other farmers in the area.
This was a good plan at first, however they had to take the chance that the farmers would tell the
Germans about their encounters. At some point, food was so scarce that people became tumultuous

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Renting A Coper Rentals
Virtually all offices have copier machines that employees use for their daily maneuvers. However,
maximum of these businesses do not categorically purchase their own machines. Rather, they just

superior option than buying your own copier unit? The answer for maximum businesses is yes,
there are lots of advantages when opting for copier rentals than essentially purchasing a unit for
their workplace.
At the outset, if you purchase your own copier machine or even toner cartridge, you will have the

Illiteracy And Poverty In America
I.Introduction: There is a strong correlation between student illiteracy and poverty. 25% of children
in America never learn how to read. Children who grow up in poverty stricken areas have extremely
limited exposure to reading materials. In addition, children living in poverty experience challenges
in obtaining nutritional food and tend to live in an unsafe environment, which can affect
educational advancement. According to the Heart of America foundation, 61 percent of families
living in povertydo not have children s books in their homes. Consequently, children living in
poverty already have a 50 percent weaker vocabulary than their wealthier peers at the start of

Taking children on field trips to their nearby library to teach them about the system is very
important. They can later get their personal library card and return to rent out a book they wish to
read. This is a way to promote out of school reading.
III.Conclusion: Maximizing student illiteracy in Miami Dade County comes down to three
critical factors. First, providing students with more books at school. Secondly, giving students
the knowledge and opportunity to read at home. And lastly, giving the teachers the proper
background on the students they will be teaching so that the academics are approached

themselves reflected in other children s lives. Being able to read is not only important but it is
critical for a person to succeed

  • 2. The September 11th Attack on the World Trade Center In the early 1960 s, executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Austin J Tobin, brought forward the proposal for a giant skyscraper complex in order to accommodate for much needed office space in Lower Manhattan. The plan was met with considerable opposition at first, but Tobin s proposal eventually succeeded, and Japanese American Minoru Yamasaki was commissioned to design the building. Yamasaki projected a novel design for a development that included two 110 storey twin towers . Upon completion in 1971, they were the tallest towers in the world, a record the infrastructure held for two years. The magnificent World Trade Centre complex which in 2001 included five other buildings in addition to the iconic Twin... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At 8.14am, as the aircraft was passing over central Massachusetts, the stewardesses began serving beverages. Suddenly five men stood up and began making their way towards the cockpit. Two stewardesses tried to intervene, but the men stabbed them with small pocket knives that they had successfully smuggled past airport security. The following screams and sight of blood caused panic among the passengers. A passenger tried to interpose one of the hijackers, but he was also stabbed. The remaining passengers watched on helplessly as the hijackers entered the cockpit. The aircraft was now in the hands of the al Qaeda hijackers, one of whom was himself a trained pilot. Mohammed Atta, lead hijacker, turned the aircraft sharply to the south and set a new course for New York City. At 8.46am American Airlines Flight 11, appeared low in the sky above Manhattan. Flying at a speed of around 750km/h, the aircraft slammed into the North Tower of the World Trade Centre between the 93rd and 99th floors. The impact triggered a huge explosion as an estimated 10,000 gallons of jet fuel, needed for the intended journey to Los Angles ignited. All the passengers, including hijackers died instantly; hundreds working in the tower were also killed upon the impact. Just 17 minutes later, while New Yorkers were still trying to come to terms with the events that had just occurred; United ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Christianity And Birth Control Human life is a sacred right that all individuals possess. It is unlawful and mortally sinful to take away or prevent the life of an infant. Human life is sacred all men must recognize that fact, said Pope John XXIII in defense of the unborn (John XXIII). To be truly pro life, one must accept that doing so does not only refer to being opposed to abortion, but also being opposed to birth control and contraception. The Catholic Church has professed for two thousand years that the conjugal act is a gift from God to married couples for the sole purpose of procreation. This gift is abused and perverted by humans; who view conjugal love as a means of pleasure rather than what it truly is. Abortion, contraception and birth control are three methods... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The popularity and convenience of birth control has led to a higher popularity of abortions. Historically, Christianity has always condemned birth control and the contraceptive mentality for 2,000 years until the Lambeth Conference of the Anglican Communion in 1930 (Carlson). Many other Protestant communities jumped on the bandwagon and embraced this modern and destructive practice. The Roman Catholic Church has stood firm in her tradition and doctrine during these dark times. His Holiness, Pope Paul VI, condemned birth control and contraception as immoral in the papal encyclical Humanae Vitae. Consequently, it is a serious error to think that a whole married life of otherwise normal relations can justify sexual intercourse which is deliberately contraceptive and so intrinsically wrong (Paul VI). Anyone who claims to be pro life, yet embraces contraceptives, is truly flattering himself. God struck Onan dead in Genesis for performing coitus interruptus, spilling his seed on the ground, which is a severe punishment indeed. Imagine the anger of God toward those who interfere with the means to create life that he gave humanity. Using birth control is telling God that man controls creation, not Him. It is intrinsically blasphemous and disobedient in nature. Sexual immorality is condemned by the Bible and birth control certainly falls within this category since it is a means to misuse intimacy for the purpose of pleasure, rather than procreation. Christian and non Christian married couples should use sex for procreation instead of using each others bodies just for pleasure. Pleasures are so readily available in this world, and now God s own generative process is being corrupted by modern medicine. It is God who remains the sovereign Master of life. Analysis Of Fog Falling On Cedars Taking Flight I sit in this AP Language and Composition class trying to decipher the essence of the unending annotations and floods of random texts for the past quarter. Little did I know that I would be taking flight and soaring through the smallest details and threads of literary devices and techniques of analyzing language. Before this class, I looked at a book, aware that it was filled with potential symbolism and crucial themes that were definitely worth considering. Yet, I often paid far less attention to the way words are crafted in efforts to create a beautiful masterpiece. Who knew that the jargon used in Snow Falling on Cedars could significantly shape the overall tone of the book? From the years leading up to this class, the... Picking up from my knowledge of personification, I gained a new perspective on how books play an impact on how one thinks when reading a piece, as it describes the voice of the book as a human. Having said, this gave me the idea that books establish a personal connection between itself and the reader. Following through with the next chapter, Welty recognizes the value of the summer trips she experienced with her family. She makes an interesting analogy between her trips and reading by calling them stories. Not only in form, but in their taking on direction, movement, development, change...each trip made its particular revelation, though I could not have found words for it (68). Connecting this to the title of chapter two, learning to see when reading requires looking closely at the small details and soaking it in, in a way that one can look back upon it later. Once one starts to carefully listen and look at the fluidity and rich ingredients a book has, he/she can find their own voice, which leads into the next chapter. Reading spurs imagination which then allows one to explore their own inner being. Welty best describes her encounter of this by explaining my imagination takes its strength and guides its direction from what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Figurative Language In The House Of The Scorpion The Mood of the Reader. The famous philosopher Plato once said, You can discover more about a person with an hour of play than in a year of conversation. But dialogue and figurative language can help the reader understand people, and their surroundings. An hour of play can t tell their deepest secrets and their emotions to bring your fate s together. In The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer, the dialogue of her characters and the descriptive language she uses helps show the mood and helps inference more about the novel. Nancy Farmer creates fascinating dialogue to introduce the mood and the characters. In the book the author uses a lot of dialogue to move the events along and introduce feelings to the reader. For instance, when Matt, the main character, and Matt s friend, see a man lying on the ground and say to each other, Can t we can t we help him? faltered Matt. It s too late for that poor soul, grunted the bodyguard. What about the doctor? This quote indicates how kind of a heart Matt has. It introduces guilt to the reader of the man lying there and a little pleasure of knowing that the main character isn t soulless. It helps add feelings and depth of the understanding of the reader when reading this dialogue. Secondly, when Celia, Matt s guardian is leaving for work, says, What s this? the woman said. • 6. Social Contagion, Emotions And The Voter s Paradox In the 21st century, the ability to vote is seen in most developed countries as a right. Most seem to take pride in the freedom to choose who their country s leader will be and relish in debating over which of the candidates arguments is the most logical. All in the spirit of democracy. But is voting really as straight forward and logical as we like to believe? Let s first look at what being irrational actually means. According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, for something to be irrational it must be not based on reason, good judgment, or clear thinking . This means that if a vote is rational , it must be a clear reflection of what people believe in, not influenced by any outside factors. To see if this is actually the case, we ll be examining phenomena such as social contagion, emotions and the voter s paradox . Checking back in with the Merriam Webster dictionary, we see that a vote is the collective opinion or verdict of a body of persons expressed by voting . And there is our first obstacle to a perfectly rational vote when humans make decisions in the presence of others, they re influenced by what others think. Social pressures affect people s decisions all of the time. This is what the psychologists like to call this social contagion. There are seven basic face shapes to consider when it comes to eyeglasses, and taking the time to determine which shape your face is will help you pick the right pair of glasses for you. The seven different face shapes are oval, diamond, square, round, triangle, inverted triangle and oblong. To start your calculation, have a basic, passport style photo of yourself taken by a friend or family member and draw six dots on the picture. Draw two dots on each side of your forehead, two dots on your cheekbones near your eyes and two dots on your jaw line at the level of your mouth. Next, check the dots to figure out your face shape and help figure out which eyeglasses to choose. For an oval shape, the dots will be farthest apart on your cheekbones and equally spaced on your jaw and forehead, making it longer that it is wide. The diamond shape resembles an oval, but the jaw and forehead dots will be closer together. Earlier this year, I got the opportunity as part of our ELM3 Healthcare in the Community (HIC) group to meet and learn about a member of the community with a traumatic brain injury and her interactions with healthcare professionals and personal journey towards recovery. An open discussion allowed us to learn about her narrative, which provided many examples of the distinction between disease and illness and the importance of a patient centered approach to healthcare. This opportunity is one of many the Otago School of Medicine and its HIC programme have organised to build a foundation and develop into becoming a well rounded and patient focused doctor. It has allowed me to learn a vast amount about myself and certainly has expanded my views on the importance of patient centered healthcare. This essay is a reflective piece where I will expand on the story of Miss X and some specific learning experiences that have helped me appreciate the integrated approach to the healing process of medicine as well as the importance of the doctor patient relationship. Although there were conflicts regarding the state of slavery, the expansion of land helped the people of America attain cheaper and larger plots of land out west. Due to the fact that more land was available within the United States, immigrants had the desire to emigrate to America and establish new ways of life. Since both the Irish and the Germans brought their own ideologies with them, conflicts arose with them and the Americans, which made the American s fear change. Along with immigrants came the European Romantic Movement. This movement emphasized the ideas of man s perfection and the metaphysical and spiritual side of humans. Although, during the Antebellum Period, the American s fear of change led to reforms involving the immigration of others and, ultimately, the Second Great Awakening, but the Romantic Movement, brought from Europe by the said immigrants, also led to reforms such as abolitionism and feminism within American society. With the immigration of Europeans, primarily the Irish, came conflicting views that created tension within the United States and caused Americans to fear change and reform their society. The North American Drama Therapy Association defines drama as the intentional use of drama, and or theater process to achieve therapeutic goals (North American Drama Association, 2016). Mitochondrial pathway The mitochondrial pathway, also called intrinsic pathway, because it is initiated from inside the cell. Various stimuli such as growth factors withdrawal, DNA damage, hypoxia, and oxidative stress can induce apoptosis through this cascade. These insults cause increasing permeability of the outer mitochondrial membrane and opening of the mitochondrial permeability transition (MPT) pore which is controlled by members of the Bcl 2 family proteins. This large family of proteins is defined by the presence of conserved Bcl 2 homology domains (BH1 to BH4). Up to 30 Bcl 2 family genes have been identified in mammals, which have either pro apoptotic or anti apoptotic functions. Some of the anti apoptotic members include Bcl 2 itself, Bcl XL, Bcl w, BAG and Mcl 1 which possess all domains of BH1 to BH4. The pro apoptotic family proteins can be divided into two subgroups: consists of Bak, Bax, and Bok with possess BH1 to BH3 domains, and Bad, Bid, Bik, BNIP3, Bim, Bmf, Blk, Hrk, Noxa, Puma, and Spike) that only possesses BH3 domain [Cory, 2002; Mund, 2003]. Mercedes Benz has its internal stakeholders that consist of owners, managers and workers. Then there are the external stakeholders. These would be the Mercedes Benz 6 customers, suppliers and the communities Mercedes does business in. With a corporation as global as Mercedes Benz, all pose different needs and requirements. Communication tends to be the bridge that binds or separates the stakeholders from the corporation. The corporation must find a means of communication and listening to each group or individual that expresses concerns and ideas. Mercedes Benz follows a strict code of conduct. Compliance is expected to be at 100%. The leadership of Mercedes Benz understands that conformity is a must ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In order to determine whether or not the occurrence of encephalitis was relevant to the immunization, cases which happened within 1 4 2day risk window after the vaccination were considered relevant. The main disadvantage for this form of data collection is that it relied on an electronic hub for collection, and there was probable delay in updating patient files. To overcome this possibility, Yih et al. (2009) conducted another confirmatory analysis post study period. Using statistical technology, Yih et al. If the critical value is reached, the null hypothesis that there is no correlation between the DTaP vaccine and encephalitis cases would be rejected.
